Speaker 1 (00:00):
Keeping an eye on the la riots. I have more
on that as we go through the morning and through
the day. They didn't really take a break overnight the
way it looks to me, John Deckar joining us for
a few minutes here twenty four to seven News White
House correspondent and John, you were the first person I
asked President Trump what he thought of Elon Musk's criticism
(00:21):
of the Big Beautiful Bill and things. Things have devolved
a lot since then. Good morning, Yeah, that.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Really ignited the feud. I asked that to the President
in the Oval Office last Thursday when the President was
meeting with the German Chancellor, and the President gave me
an eight minute long answer, and of course that led
to a lot of back and forth between the President
and Elon Musk on social media. It has essentially ended
(00:47):
their relationship and ignited a big feud between these two individuals.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
He said, was he yesterday or Saturday? He said, he
was asked about at the President. He said, I have
no interest in having a check with him right now.
Left the door open a crack. Where do you think
this is going?
Speaker 2 (01:04):
John, Well, the President is really an interesting person in
the sense that you know, he never closes the door
to patching things up. I mean, I always think about
every time I see him. Marca Rubio. You remember the
relationship between Donald Trump and Mark Rubio in twenty sixteen
when they were campaigning for the White House. They said
the very unkind things about each other. And now Mark
(01:26):
Rubio is President Trump's Secretary of State, so anything is possible.
They could patch things up, but right now the relationship
is not in a good place.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Now, what about this business of a fight in the
hall of the White House between Elon Musk and Scott Bessant.
They were complaining about each other and had been for
some time, and there were some sort of physical altercation
that's come out from second sources. Second not necessary to
people who were there, but it has been leaked to
(01:55):
the media. What do you know about that.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
John, Yeah, I can't confirm that. I don't know about
that firsthand. I read what you read. What I can
tell you is that Elon Musk rubbed a lot of
cabinet officials the wrong way in terms of how he
went about his job as head of the Department of
Government Efficiency. He rubbed Scott Besson, the Treasury Secretary, the
wrong way. He rubbed Mark or Rubio the Secretary of
(02:20):
State the wrong way. And there are others as well.
So I can't confirm whether or not such a physical
altercation happened between Elon Musk and Scott Besson, but I
can tell you that he didn't get along with everybody
in President Trump's cabinet.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Yeah, it's interesting Musk, he has that kind of access
for all of these months. He had to know what
was coming in this bill. And something happened. I mentioned
this Friday, John, something happened between that great photo op
in the Oval Office last Friday or the week ago
(02:58):
last Friday, and you flash forward to Thursday, and this
just blew up. And he had to know this was coming,
what was in this bill? Didn't he?
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Well, according to the President, you know the answer that
he gave me. The reason why Elon Musk is against
this legislation is because it gets rid of all of
those easy tax credits, which really impacts his company, Tesla. Now,
the reason Elon Musk says that he's against the bills
because it increases the debt by three trillion dollars. That's
according to the Congressional Budget Office. But I can't tell
(03:29):
you know, I don't know what's inside Elon Musk's mind,
but clearly he did not and does not like this legislation.
He's opposed to it. He's urging Republicans and the Senate
to oppose it as well. Mm.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Well, the president's got his plate full right now with
what's going on in Los Angeles, not to mention the
hot spots around the world. So but I hope. I
think most people of goodwill who care about the country
would hope that they'll kiss and make up at some point.
I think we're better off with them working together than
against each other. We don't know.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Well, look, you know, I think that's certainly possible. Right now.
The relationship is not in a good place. It would
be good for the Republican Party, if you're interested in that,
to have Donald Trump and Elon Musk on the same page.
Elon Musk spent over two hundred and fifty million dollars
helping to elect Donald Trump in the twenty twenty four
(04:26):
presidential campaign. He claims that were it not for his help,
Donald Trump would not have won the White House. I
doubt that I think that Donald Trump would have won
regardless of Elon Musk's help. But in any case, they
do not see eye to eye right now in a
variety of issues. But anything is possible in terms of
the President patching things up with Elon Musk.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Well, that's stuff about Jeffrey Epstein and getting impeached. That's
a petulant child, Elon musk Is. He shouldn't any dial
that back. He deleted all that, and he was actually
retweeting some of the President's tweets over the weekend. So
but when you start putting in the Jeffrey Epstein card
and the impeachment card, that's that's a good chance. It's
(05:07):
a good way to get off the Christmas card.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Oh yeah, that's right, you know, but he's uh, he's
removed those particular social media posts related to that from
his feed, So you know, that's I guess trying to
offer up the peace offering to the president.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Hey, John, thanks good to have you on always.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Thank you, absolutely have a great Thank you.
