It's Night Side with Dan RAYBS CostsRadio. Thank you very much, Al
Griffin. As we move into theten o'clock hour here, I want to
call this the beginning of the fourthof July weekend. The fourth of July
is on a Thursday. I mean, of course, I'm on vacation next

(00:20):
week, so maybe that's why intellectuallyI'm saying this. By the way,
George and Westwood, your email didnot get through. Let me tell you
my email, George. It's simplyDan Ray, but you gotta spell Ray
correctly. D A n R eA at iHeartMedia dot com. And if
you're confused by that, call Rob, try to get into Rob when one

(00:44):
of the lines are open and hecan spell it out. D A n
R e A Dan Ray at iHeartMediadot com. I'm going to try to
get as many folks in in theeleven o'clock hour. We are going to
do what we've done the last Fridayof every month since March March, April,
May June. This would be ourfourth I like to call it a

(01:06):
snap poll. The first one wedid. We never announced it in advance.
You can vote for anyone you want, but I would suggest the three
main candidates to consider our president,Biden for President Trump and Robert F.
Kennedy the fourth Robert F. KennedyNo RFK Junior, Excuse me, not

(01:30):
the fourth RFK Junior. Let's goright to the calls. We and again,
folks have been waiting. We'll givethem some time, but we're going
to There was one line opened sixone, seven, nine, three thirty.
Your reaction of last night's debate andthe fallout from that debate, including
Joe Biden's decision and announcement today thathe is in it for the long run.

(01:51):
He's not getting out, despite maybesome of the suggestions that prominent Democrats
made last night. Rebecca in Milford, Rebecca un next on Nightside, Go
right ahead, Hi, Dan,how are you? I'm good, Rebecca.
What's your take from last night?First of all, do you know
what I love about you? WhatI've been listening to you every night.
I don't know if you're a Democrator Republican. You're just so in the

(02:14):
middle, and I like that, thank you. I'm an independent there you
though. I watched it and Ijust it was kind of embarrassing, and
I thought Trump behaved. I can'tbelieve what they're doing at Kennedy. I
just think they're like just dissing them, the Democrats and his point. I
know they were sticking up for Biden. I just don't understand it. I

(02:36):
just all the illegals coming in.I'm all for everyone's got his children,
But where are they going to go? And then I figured it out He's
going to have them vote for him. Well, he's why else do you
want we're paying for them? Imean, I just and I love him,
They're I mean, they're in myneighborhood. It's just I just don't
understand, like, where where themighty coming. The ones who are here

(02:59):
now are not gonna of Regis. But he's made a decision, he and
the leaders, and I don't knowthink that Joe Biden's made a decision that
the leaders of the Democratic Party haveseen a softening in their core constituency.
They've seen Hispanic voters drift away fromthe Democratic Party. They're now seeing black
voters drift away from the Democratic Party. I don't know what the numbers would

(03:20):
be next November, but I suspectthat Donald Trump based upon the I mean,
they can't work. My friends areall Democrats. They say, Trump
said jerk, and if you likeTrump, they look down on you like
you're stupid. Well that's wrong too, that that is has probably and no
one should look down if you know, I have family members, I have

(03:44):
family members who probably well they disagreewith me. There's no family that don't
don't like condescend you and look downat you like you're stupid, right,
right, And and I think thatis what has really hollowed out the core
of the country at this point.I'm old enough to remember, you know,

(04:08):
when Nixon was president. I remembervery clearly when Lindon Johnson was president,
Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, RonaldReagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton,
George Bush, Barack Obama. Iknow that there were people who didn't
like Nixon, and people didn't likeReagan, and people didn't like Clinton,
and people didn't like Obama. Butfriendships like the Trump yeah, well,

(04:33):
families have been fractured over this.Friendships, long lasting friendships. And I
just think there's going to be anotherpandemic and they're going to have all the
illegals vote, and he's not gonnawin no matter what. And they keep
saying, are you accepted? DidHillary Clinton accept it. She'd accepted it.
Remember all the people in the streets, what you lost. No,
I know, I know, that'slike the best time in my life.

(04:55):
And I was at a school function. Please don't tell you tell you Yeah,
no, no, I said, you said, that's the best night
of your life. Don't tell yourhusband that. Oh he was with me
besides my child in my marriage. But anyway, I was at a school
function and I had great friends Imet at the restaurant. And then about
an hour and a half later,I must have said something. They said,

(05:16):
Oh my god, you're like Trump. They they dissed me. They
were like, you are despicable.I believe I couldn't believe it. Well,
look at all of the Democratic member, the congresswoman from California who seen
waters. You know, when yousee them at the gas station, when

(05:39):
you see them in the restaurant, and there were some incidents where people were
harassed at restaurants. No one hasthat right. I mean, if I'm
in a restaurant and Elizabeth Warren comesin with her family to have dinner,
I have no right to go over. In true, it's ridiculous, and
it's just the Republicans are very Ijust can't believe, are not stronger,

(06:01):
they don't stay together, and theythey just don't time. Look, each
party over the course of time losespeople, meaning people are born or grow
up as Democrats and they become Republicansand vice versa, which is fine.
What that shows me is people arethinking, and maybe they're changing their mind.

(06:23):
Maybe they changed their mind and onissues I agree with or disagree,
but at least people are thinking. That's all we try to do here on
nights. I want people very condescending. Yeah, I think we've had like
blows ripping up the I mean,if he that was an ugly incident when
she took that and basically gave himthe sarcastic applause and then took the speech

(06:49):
that he that he had delivered andin effect ripped it. Crazy when Wilson
of South Carolina had the audacity toyell out liar towards Barack Obama, which
was an absolutely inapportant, absolutely inappropriate. However, on a scale of I

(07:15):
guess repulsive behavior as bad as Wilson'sbehavior was. I think that the Speaker
of the House to stand behind DonaldTrump and to give this sarcastic round of
applause, and then I just don'tunderstand it. We just want this country
be great, and you are awesome, Dan. I listen to you every
night. Thank you your friends.Tell your friends now they're all Democrats.

(07:38):
I just beg them not to vote. Thanks so much. Tell them the
elections to tell them that the electionsin December. That's all you have to
write. All right, wonderful holiday, you too. Happy July. We'll
take a quick break one line six, one, seven, ten thirty.
We will do a poll. Again. It's not a scientific poll, but

(08:01):
I pledged early on that we wouldwe would do a poll every last Friday
night of the of every month, beginning in March. We've done March,
April, and May. Tonight willbe June at eleventh at eleven o'clock in
the twentieth hour. We will doa final poll on the final Friday in

(08:22):
July, in August, in Septemberand October, and then we will await
the November fifth result. We'll beright back on nightside, getting your reaction
to the Biden Trump debate last night, and what should they do. I
think it's going to be interesting, you know. Donald Trump will be in
front of the judge down in NewYork on July eleventh. It's not out

(08:43):
of the question that that judge couldtry to incarcerate him. I don't think
that that would stand, but look, nothing would surprise at this point in
this crazy twenty twenty four election year. Back on Nightside lines are fold Now
back to Dan Ray live from theWindow World night Side Studios on WBZ News

(09:07):
Radio. All right, back tothe phones we go. And by the
way, George, still looking forthat email that you alluded to Alice in
New Hampshire. Al I apologize forthe length of your weight. You're next
on Nightsager, right ahead. Thankyou so much. Dan as always great,
great, great show. I'd liketo go in another direction, and

(09:28):
the direction is really about America. You know, think about if your son
or daughter last night was serving overseasand they found this the commander in chief,
what they feel, what they think, and you know we have they're
talking about drafting men and women nowbecause we can't get people to go into
the military. I mean, watchingthis for them and their families, the

(09:52):
power of that has to be gutwrenching. And the second part of it
for me is that we've turned ourcountry over the parties, the Republican Party,
the Democratic Party, their private entities, their private companies. We turned
ourselves over to them, and shameon us. And it makes you know
it was George Washington said it best. He said it should be no parties.

(10:16):
They just should be one party, the American Party. And we as
Americans really have to start taking backour rights and stop this nonsense. But
we aren't going to have a countryanymore. Well, well, here's the
problem. The problem is that thirdparties in America have never worked. They
work in Western European countries, inBritain and France and they've survived. But

(10:41):
all the third party Canada, allthe third parties that are out there go
nowhere. You have the Libertarian Party, it goes nowhere. Now you know,
people say I voted libertarian and onceagain, you know we lost.
We got one point one percent ofthe vote. Well, I've known people
who were considered themselves libertarians for fiftyyears. I would think that the Libertarian

(11:03):
Party would say, Okay, whodo we want to support. We want
to support someone who might win.But that's okay. You have the Green
Party that that's parties haven't worked. The only the only person in my lifetime
as a third party candidate that didwell was Ross Parol got nineteen percent of
the vote and got zero electoral votes. Well, I hear it. It's

(11:26):
just the second part of it thatmade me sick to my stomach is watching
it was that they have been coveringup for you know, President Biden for
a long time. Somebody needs tobe held accountable for that. There is
the art. You know this thearticle twenty five and you know they talked
about it in Trump they talked aboutall the other things because he was a

(11:48):
ego maniac or whatever. This isclear that this has been going on and
he's been has to be been havingtaking drugs for a long time. How
did around him his power that corruptiblethat we don't mean anything anymore, the
means nothing. Well, they saythat power is the greatest aphrodisiac. You've

(12:11):
heard that said. But how canall these people be complicit around him and
no one have the guts to standup and say this is unacceptable. Well,
it's unacceptable to you. It mightnot be acceptable, and I'm just
trying to be reasonable with you.It might not be unacceptable to people who

(12:31):
believe in the philosophies that Joe Bidenhas adopted and advocated, whether it's an
open border or or you know, various economic provisions. I mean, they
might say, look, he wasthe only guy that could beat Trump.
And some people might have thought, who do you think Bernie Sanders would have

(12:54):
beaten Donald Trump in twenty twenty.I don't think so. And I think
Joe Biden. It was a periodof time where where Joe Biden was the
candidate that the Democrats could could putin the race and win with. If
you remember they it was twenty twenty. It was COVID. Joe Biden ran
the campaign from his basement for themost part, uh, and he came

(13:16):
across he was going to be hewas going to unite the nation. And
I'm not sure that he was successfulwith that. I think again, people
in the Democratic Party and people inthe Republican Party, they this is what
they do for a living. Theywant to win. I mean, I'm
just telling you that the ugly truth. I hear you, and maybe I'm

(13:37):
too idealistic, but I would liketo believe that people would, you know,
and they swear an own to theconstitution, you know, local politicians,
national politicians swear and to the Constitutionand and you know, if we
don't take this seriously, get okay, well again, l I think you

(14:00):
promoted here and I hope that helps. I didn't mean to say that.
Sorry, no, no, no, don't. It can happen. It
can happen, Okay. I likepeople to be comfortable when they call.
Maybe not quite that comfortable, butthat's okay. Yeah, no, no,
I know you did. I knowyou didn't, and don't worry about
it. All I'm just saying iskeep calling night side. Look, there's

(14:24):
you have a pretty good governor upthere in New Hampshire, Chris Sinunu,
who I think has a lot ofsupport. And if you've had a good
governor up there, he's not.He won't be governor this time next year
because he chose not to stand forelection. But I don't know what the
alternative is. I really don't becauseI've never seen the third party do what

(14:46):
you would hope it would do,and that would be really challenged the status
quo. It was only Ross Perotwho I think challenged and probably helped elect
Bill Clinton in nineteen ninety two.If the truth PIN know? Yep,
I agree. Thanks thanks, thankyou out, have a great one.
Let me go to uh Let gonext to Karen in Winchester. Karen,

(15:09):
welcome, next to Nightside. Howare you hey, Dan? Great?
How are you? I'm doing fine. Love to know what you thought about
last night and the fallout today.Well, I was waiting for somebody to
call nine to one one. That'sa good line. I wasn't sure whether

(15:31):
static. Yeah, I actually sawempathy and former President Trump's eyes when he
looked over at Joe. I waswondering if Joe was going to pass out.
One of his eyes was really bigand the other one was small.
Yeah, And I was concerned thathe may have had like a TIA or

(15:54):
some you know, kind of likeMitch McConnell. Those freeze moments after that,
Yeah, right, McConnell's moments wereamazing to see him just and then
then they kind of walked him away. Do you have a nursing background,
No, but I am recovering froma TBI and i'm that and I do

(16:15):
have a clinical diagnosis of post concussivesyndrome from massioneer. Yeah. Yeah,
so, and I've seen it inother people and I've done research and just
observing, and I was a caregiverwith my mother and I doubled the amount
of life she was supposed to have. So people always thought I should have
been a nurse, or I wasat nurse or a doctor. I don't

(16:37):
want to sound sexist when we saythat. Doctors and my family and coming
up doctors in the next gen.So I'm really happy about that. But
when we're talking about like Republicans andDemocrats, I've seen Republicans are very strong.
They're just very quiet, and Democratsseem to get more giddy and make

(16:59):
fun of other people like Junior High, where the Republicans are really focused on
the economy. So it's not thatthe Republicans are weak, they're just very
strong and quiet. And I haveroots in the Midwest from Iowa, and
I told our CPA attorney. Isaw him over at coffee, and he

(17:22):
said, you called it six monthsago. You said Trump would win,
and I forgot that I had saidthat. He goes you were right,
and I said, I could justsense because I have a pulse. I've
lived in on the West Coast aswell, and so I have friends throughout
the United States, and I justsensed that Trump was going to win,

(17:44):
which frankly did surprise surprise me.So I just wanted to say that about
some communities, families or decis anddevices, and they make fun of the
other party, and I see thatmore with Democrats over Republicans than Republicans do
not do that to Democrats. Yeah, I think I think everybody should sort

(18:04):
of take a deep breath. Here, we're going to go through a rough
time. Let's uh, let's whenit when it's over, maybe the vast
majority of us can say, Okay, we've been through two or three tough
elections. Whoever wins, uh,whether it's Biden or Trump. Uh,
they'll only be there for four years. Uh, and let's let's let's give

(18:26):
him a chance, your chance torun for president. You know. But
the reason why I don't think so, Karen, thank you so much,
Okay, And the real reason whyI'm calling is a colleague of mine is

(18:49):
a legal immigrant working. He droveall night to Washington, d C.
Because he's a Trump supporter. ForJanuary sixth, he was at the rally
and to support the caller that hadthe static phone call earlier. Yes,
he was right. Trump did notinstigate people storming the Capitol. He was

(19:14):
at the rally, and my colleaguewas actually standing out there for four hours
with other people, listening to otherspeakers. You didn't hear about that in
the news. They had no ideathis was going on on January sixth.
I understand that. But the pointthat I tried to make with the private

(19:37):
caller who Tom from West Virginia,is that to assemble that crowd, to
urge that crowd to come to Washingtonstop the steal on January sixth, that
is simply a ceremonial day. There'sno decisions that are being made that day.
All the decisions the votes are inNovember and in early December. They're

(20:03):
tabulated at the various state capitals fiftystate capitals. The electors are sworn in,
they signed documents, and those documentsare shipped to Washington to be opened
along with documents from the forty nineother states and the District of Columbia on
a date certain that year was Januarysixth, And I just think that that

(20:25):
for him to bring people to Washington, he basically made a horrific mistake.
The election was long over all, many of the if not all, of
the legal challenges had failed. DoI think there was shenanigans in twenty twenty,
Yeah, absolutely do. I thinkthere were shenanigans in every election.

(20:45):
Absolutely. But you gotta have thegoods to go into court. Other than
saying we think or we believe, you got to say here's the proof.
They didn't have the proof, andhe should have. He should have said,
look they beat me, we'll bebetter organized next time. That's that's
all I'm going. I agree withthat. But just like that day,

(21:08):
a lot of people were standing, the vast majority of people were standing.
There had no idea that small crowdstorm the capitol. But you know,
when I lived in San Francisco,a friend of mine said, we have
to go see Kavin Newsom. Theysay he's going to be president someday.
This was around in the early twothousands, and so we saw him in

(21:29):
a parade and I forget what whathe was at a local office, but
he's very dynamic and I really thinkthe Democrat Party should look at another candidate
at this point. Well, wewill see, and that's going to provide
a lot of grists for the millor a lot of talk for nightside.
Let's put it like that. ThanksKaren, appreciate you call very much.
Talk to you soon. Thank God. All right, I got to take

(21:53):
quick break and we come back. We're going to quicken the pace of the
phone calls because at eleven o'clock we'regoing to go to our monthly presidential poll.
Non scientific, but we'll see whatpeople say. Coming back on Nightside,
Night Side with Dan Ray on wbBoston's news radio. Okay, gonna

(22:15):
move it a little bit more quickly. My friend Jim in Kansas City joins
us. Jim, you were nexton Nightside, and yes, sir,
they uh, I'm gonna turn itaround, read my lips. So look,
it's often said that dictators will capitalizeon a weak presidency, but oftentimes

(22:40):
it's hard to tell whether they reallyare. But in this case, it's
pretty obvious because you have Ukraine, you have Israel, you had Haiti,
Venezuela, and now Bolivia. Sohopefully we get something done about this before
it gets to affect on us anywaymore than it already is. And uh,

(23:02):
you know, I'll just say thatup until now, I could give
people the benefit of the doubt, but from here going forward, I think
people who continue to favor Brandon mustbe held to account for that for his
behavior, because it's pretty obvious he'she's out to launch and other people are
running the government. We don't knowwho people. You know, people can
can support who they want him,I mean, but they should be held

(23:25):
account for their by held what doyou mean by held accountable? Well,
whatever it means, I don't know. Well, if you're voting, if
you're if you're voting for a guywho's letting somebody run the government from in
back, and he knows he's doingit, he should, you know.
That's to me something I don't know. But anybody who continues to favor him,

(23:45):
I hold them one responsible for anythingthat happens as a result of his
continued presidency. Okay, I mean, you could hold people responsible. But
what I'm saying is when you usethe word held accountable, the implication of
that is they're gonna suffer a legalconsequence of some sort or well, well,

(24:07):
well, you know, so muchas a neighbor accountable by not inviting
him to have a bearratuer house.I mean, that's insomuch as as possible.
I think that you know, itshould happen. Okay, I don't
know, I don't know who's backthere running the government. But it's obviously
he's not him. So you know, everybody now knows that the guy can't
string together five words to make asentence. So now you know that you

(24:30):
continue to favor him, you shouldbe held accountable for any outgrowth of that.
Of that, uh uh, it'sa pretty pretty strong showing at his
rally in North Carolina this afternoon.I don't know if you had a chance
to look at that, but itlooked like a different person. It was.
He said, he said, hesaid, he still, he said,
he knows how to tell the truth. Why doesn't he tell the truth
about who's running the government. Enough, let's leave that question out there.

(24:52):
See if I just want to respond, okay, okay, thanks you,
I appreciate you going. Who's upnext here? Let me go to Robert
and Wellesley. Robert, oh youwere next time? I say, go
ahead, Robert. Good evening,Dan. I don't know if my comments
are worth anything. I finally debate, somewhat painful to watch, but really
I didn't in comparison, I didn'tthink that Biden's performance was as bad as

(25:18):
Russ Perrot's running mate was. Hisname Admiral Stockdale, James Dockdale, Who
am I? And why am Ihere? But again that's a pretty low
bar. I mean, there wasthere was some moments where last night,
you know, President Biden had atough time just you know, keeping his
train of thought. That's that's whatwas I thought amazing. I mean,

(25:42):
look, this is this is aSoundBite from President Biden last night. I
want you to explain to me whathe said in these forty six seconds.
Hold on, go to go ahead, Rob, Please play cut number three
situation where they in fact paid eightpoint two percent in Texas. If they
just pay twenty five percent either oneof those numbers, they'd raised five hundred

(26:04):
million dollars billion dollars. I shouldsay in a ten year period, we'd
been able to write wipe out hisdebt, we'd be able to help make
sure that all those things we needto do, childcare, elder care,
making sure that we continue to suppreenstrength in our healthcare system, making sure
that we're able to make every singlesolitary person eligible for what I've been able

(26:25):
to do with the UH, withthe COVID, I exculd be with dealing
with everything we have to do withLook, if we finally beat medicare Thank
you, President buddy. Can youcan you interpret that for me? Yeah,

(26:47):
we're really putting there on the spothere. I think he was sort
of falling falling back on speech, habits, habits and sort of and may
have sort of lost his training tothought part way part way through. But
is that surprising? I mean,uh, is just really surprising that he

(27:07):
I mean, he has been describedas a as a gaff gas machine.
I think that these I I didn'tthink that. It's just really surprising that
uh. And and isn't it alittle bit hypocritical for the for the Democrats
to all of a sudden want toabandon him and throw him under the under
the bus because of his performance onthe on the debate. And I'm just

(27:30):
I don't know, what what isyour what is your film that well that
happens in all all all walks oflife? I mean, if all of
a sudden, uh, you know, a bit a Red Sox player.
You know, one year is Isis a great player, and the next
year he goes to spring training hekind of hit the baseball. Uh,
He's probably gonna get sent to theminers. And I think I hate I
hate to use the sports metaphors asmuch as I do, but it's really

(27:52):
true. I mean you you've hadpeople who are, you know, league
leaders, and two seasons later they'rethey're out looking for a job. And
I think the same way if ifthe Democrats assumed that he's unelectable, he's
he's he's going to be, They'regoing to ask him to move on.
And that's what I think. Butwhether he's willing to do it or whether

(28:15):
his wife is willing to do itis a very complicated question. Robert,
great call is always I just gotto keep rolling here. Okay, thanks
man, thank you, thank youGod. You're going to go next to
Pat in Revere. Pat, youwere next on Nightside. Welcome back,
Hey Dan, how are you? What's your take on last night? Horrible?

(28:36):
Uh? I actually I had toshut it off. I just I
couldn't stand. I couldn't stand it. I couldn't stand to listen to Biden
and uh, I couldn't stand.Uh what was coming out of Trump's mouth?

(29:00):
I mean, complete lies all theway around. You know, everything
that comes out of that man's mouthis a complete lie. I've seen both
of both of them last night.Where is that? Where does that put
you in terms of I assume youyou intend to vote in November. Yeah,

(29:25):
but at this point, I don'tknow where I'm going. At this
point, I'm still undecided and whereI'm going. Okay, Well, it
sounds to me like Trump was neveran option, and it sounds like and
I'm a Republican and I voted forhim the first time out, but he's
turned my stomach so much that Ijust I just can't do it. You

(29:52):
know. It's do you think theDemocrats should should ask politely the president to
leave the ticket and go go quietlyinto that good night? Absolutely? Absolutely?
You know he after seeing last night? Yeah, I mean worker,

(30:17):
I mean he's been in he's beenin service for what fifty years? You
know, your time has passed,Your time is passed. And I was
elected. He was first elected tothe US Senate in nineteen seventy two,
So his fifty two years he wasin private life. When when Trump was
president, he had served in theSenate and then served as Vice president of

(30:45):
nineteen seventy two and then he satout for four years. So he's been
he's a lifeline life. The definitionof a of a lifelong politician, right,
exactly. I mean I was readingsomething today where McConnell was saying,
you know, I mean of allthe bashing that that he's been getting.
Look, he says, I've knownhim a long time. You know,

(31:07):
he's a good man. Unfortunately,you know what he's doing I don't agree
with. But the bashing that he'sgotten he doesn't deserve. But he is
a good man. Well again,if you put yourself in that public arena,
I got to tell you, noteverybody loves me as a talk show

(31:27):
host. I think ge't great.Well thank you said that. Not everyone
get gers with that, and guesswhat, they had their right to their
opinion. I had a I hadan email last last night that and I
actually called the person back. Theyleft their number. I called them back

(31:48):
and said, let to have aconversation. I haven't heard back, you
know, so Jed, I wantto actually calls my listeners back. Believe
it or not. I got onething that I do have to say.
You a caller from Hampton Beach,I believe it was right. And you
know, you know what, youknow what really irks me is that people
think that you know, Trump isyou know, the best next thing since

(32:14):
sliced bread. But you know whenCOVID was around that, you know he
brought gas prices down? Well, people, you know, I mean,
what is wrong with these people?COVID? You know he didn't bring gas
prices down cherishly. I mean, nobody was driving during COVID. The oil
companies had no other choice but tobring the the oil down. Okay,

(32:37):
the only the only reason it camedown was nobody was driving. And okay.
And the only prices that were upwas diesel fuel. Okay. When
when diesel fuel was over five dollarsa gallon? Okay, And of course
they can raise the prices because dieselyou know, riting Okay, the trains

(33:02):
okay, Okay, I got allof those points. But I'm way past
my break here, so I doit. Let you go, but thank
you for your points of view, and we'll talk again. Have a great
fourth of July. You do thesame, my friend. Quick break coming
back, We're going to start withAlison Casey Wes and maybe Marty uh And

(33:24):
remember, after eleven o'clock we're goingto do our snap poll. Will it
be President Biden, former President Trumpas of today or RFK back after this
one night side Now back to DanRay live from the Window World to night
Side Studios on WBZ News Radio. All right, here we go. Allison

(33:47):
is in Muster. Allison, welcometo Nightside. How are you? Oh
my god, We're doomed, LikeI that was horrendous. I listened to
the entire debate. There were timeswhen I had no idg stuff up and
then and then tells you it's true. And when you tell him it's not
true, Oh yes it is true. Like, we're just totally doomed.

(34:09):
If these are our two candidates,if this is the best we can do,
we have real problems. It wasterrible. Do I think they need
to ask him to step aside rightnow? I'm talking about Biden. You
don't do it because of one badshowing, Like just like you wouldn't I

(34:29):
mean, unless it was the WorldSeries, wouldn't take the picture and send
him to the minors for one badshowing. Give him a chance. He
did really well today. Earlier whenhe was talking, I don't know,
maybe they said he had the flu. Maybe he had the flu, who
knows, made him miraculous recovery. The difference today was he was on teleprompter
with a speech. Yeah, Yeah, So what Trump did right yesterday was

(34:57):
like, really surprise Biden. Bidenwasn't expecting him to be able to control
himself, and when he did,it made him. It made him nervous,
It made him lose his train ofthought. Like it was clear that
he was trying to make a pointat all time. Well, he was
trying to he was trying to evokea reaction from Trump. And it's almost

(35:19):
as if they had role reversals, meaning absolutely he ended up playing the angry
candidate that Trump was in two thousand. I mean, it's like, that's
absolutely true. You're right, Butlike what we're left with is the Handmaid's
tail or, a man with cleardementia, Like you know, well,

(35:45):
we've sat around for a long time. We went through the Republican primaries,
who went through the Democratic primaries.I've said all along, I've seen the
movie before. I don't like theway it ended in twenty twenty. I
hope it doesn't end that way intwenty twenty four. Whoever wins, I
hope the country could pull us togetherand say, look, whoever's win,
whether it's Trump Obiden, they onlyhave four years left, assuming they survived

(36:07):
their presidency. True, let's comeback together as a country, you know.
And whether I voted for so andso, you voted for so and
so. If you're my neighbor, you're my relative, you're my family member,
we can put those differences aside.I've done it with my own family,
to be honest with you. Yeah, you got to. In my

(36:27):
opinion, that would be my campaign. We have to stop hating each other.
It's all about the hat. Wehave to stop. I said Alison
before the debate last night. Isaid I was hoping that one of them,
Trump or Biden would have the courageand the character at some point during
that debate, either before the debateor after debate, to walk over to

(36:49):
the other person an opera hand. You might have heard me say that,
but that's what I said last night, and it didn't happen. All right,
Thanks Allison, have a great one. Call back soon. Okay,
thank you, good night. Casey'sin Carolina, Casey welcome. How are
you? You should be up here? Hey, Dan, how you doing?

(37:09):
Thanks for taking my call. Thanwhen you're coming up this way,
I should be up maybe in August. I think we're going to be making
a trip up so I'll be sureto look. I'm going to be away
August second to the eleventh leading thatlist on that Italy trip. So oh
yeah, that's right here. Letme know, I don't love to say

(37:30):
hi, okay, okay, buddyand I have a mutual friend. That's
how we know each other. Goahead. So I'm a little surprised at
how surprised people are at President Biden'sperformance, because if you've been following from
the last year and a half,I think what happened last night was he
was just exposed. The whole cut. There was nothing filtered. The whole

(37:52):
country now could look at him andgo, oh my gosh, this is
what the President of the United Statesis acting like. Well, I've seen
it. If you've been watching himfor a year and a half, he
just just I mean, God blesshim. But I mean he's one years
old. It happened, you know, some people each quick there, and
I just think that's what happened lastnight when people were so many people were

(38:15):
surprised, But I wasn't surprised atall. I didn't expect anything different.
And the other point I wanted toask you about is what does the New
York Times do now. It seemsthey've painted themselves into a corner by you
know, the editorial page today,Thomas Friedman, Nicholas Christoph they've all said

(38:38):
he needs to step down, andI don't think that's going to happen.
I can't see him stepping down.I think the guy is cast and it's
going to be uh yeah, Idon't think his wife is going to let
him step down. I think thatJoe Biden is calling the shots in the
family. And I think that there'sa group of younger political theorists or who

(39:00):
in the White House who are callingthe shots in terms of the Kintry right.
And I don't and I don't thinkthat's going to change. And uh,
you know, I guess you know, from my perspective, we're not
sure who's going to get on theballot down here. But I, you
know, between I think I'm leaningtowards that Kennedy. I really do.

(39:20):
And I never thought i'd say that, but that's that's where I'm going now,
All right, Casey, we'll talksoon. Okay, thanks man,
Okay, see that, Uh,Wes and Newbyport West want to get you
in and maybe one more go ahead, Wes Hi Dan, you know your
previous collar stole a little thunder. But going along those lines, you know,

(39:42):
if if you focused on CNN oryou focused on Fox in the last
year or year and a half, they would show clippets from a speech and
one side would show Biden as best. And if you watch FAR or you
listen to local, true un conservativeradio, they would take out the clips

(40:06):
that made Biden look bad. AndI think, I think your previous caller
is he used the right word.He got exposed last night. Well,
the irony was I once I realizedthat Biden was having a rough night,
I knew what Fox would say.So I watched during commercial breaks last night,
I watched, you know, afterthe debate, I watched CNN.

(40:28):
I watched the CNN panel. Whoare all Democrats or Democrats? You know
former Democrats are certainly inclined to beDemocrats. They eviscerated Biden. I mean,
I think that it was just toomuch for them to handle. I
think they they saw it clearly andto their credit, to their credit,
they did not pull a punch.I have to say I was shocked at

(40:51):
that, and pleasingly so. Theycalled it as they saw it and not
usually the case. That's all youcan ask for from a referee or a
pundit. And by the way,I thought that both Dana Bash and Jake
Tapper were feared to both the presidentand the former president. They asked tough
questions of each They let them answerthose questions. They followed up, but

(41:13):
they didn't hammer them when they followedup. They didn't do one of those
answer the question. And it wasvery polite. It was it was other
than if you were a diehard Bidensupporter. It was a pleasurable debate to
watch. I thought, well,I said to friends six nine months ago,
I think the most fascinating thing aboutthis election who will actually be running

(41:37):
With all the problems that Trump washaving with the law and all the problems
that Biden was having with him slipping. I wanted who would be there at
the end. And we're not atthe end yet. Let me just say
this, we're not at the endyet. But they Okay, Hey,
Wes, I'm flat out at timeand I got a break for the eleven

(41:58):
o'clock news. I appreciate it.Thank you very much. If you're fortunate
enough, thanks Wes. If you'refortunate enough to be in the line you
can vote in the snap pole thatwe're coming up. We do it every
last Friday in the twentieth hour ofthe month. I'll recap it for you
and we'll take as many calls aswe can. If you'd like to get
in now. The only lines thatare open a six month, seven tw
