Saturday afternoon during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a 20-year-old shooter attempted to take the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump’s life. The 78-year-old was only minutes into delivering his speech when a bullet grazed his ear, causing him to get down and take cover. The attack killed a bystander, critically wounded two others, and prompted questions about how a gunman was able to open fire from a nearby rooftop. We had lots to unpack this edition of NightSide!

(00:00):
It's nice side with Dan Ray onWBZ Chounston's video. Right, all right,
welcome back everyone. Donald Trump hasjust entered the convention Center in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. He's about to speak tothe assembled supporters a tumultuous reception,

(00:21):
and he's going to be introduced here, I believe, and it's impossible to
anticipate Donald Trump sitting with family members. He's flanked by J. D.
Vence, the Vice president nominee ofthe Republican Party, and by House Speaker
Johnson. Family members are next tohim. He was introduced with a roaring

(00:48):
rendition of Proud to be an American, and he's sitting there. He soaked
it all in. He is nowsitting listening and we will join the the
activities as soon as President Trump beginsto speak. Just to set the scene
for you, There's been all sortsof suggestions that I as to when he
would arrive. He arrived just atten o'clock, walked down a long corridor

(01:11):
and again walked up to a boxwhich includes his family members as well as
other Republican political luminaries. But he'ssitting there listening. At this point.
I'm simply watching one of the feeds, and it's our expectation that we will
get to him as soon as hebegins to speak. But as we await

(01:34):
his remarks, and it's going tobe very interesting as to what will the
tone of his remarks be. Helooks to me, he is a pretty
large white bandage bandage, I shouldsay on his ear where he was wounded
on Saturday. But he came inand he certainly appeared to enjoy the adelacian

(01:57):
adulation that the crowd displayed for him. It was uh, a moment for
Donald Trump, and it was goingto be very interesting as to what his
remarks will be. But in themeantime, as we wait for that,
and as he sits on stage, and uh, there's a there's some remarks
that are being offered and I'm notexactly sure who is offering the remarks,

(02:23):
but he is up there with family, close family members, both of his
sons, uh, and they're therein one case, Eric Trump and his
wife Laura, and Donald Trump withI'm not sure if what the the marital
relationship is with a former Fox commentator, Kimberly Foyle. Kimberly Gilfoyle, I

(02:49):
should say, uh, and DonaldTrump just seems to be drinking, drinking
it all in. So let's getback to the phones. We'll take phone
calls until he begins to speak, and we will advise the callers that if
he speaks, we will have tocut their call short. But let us
start off with Philly Boston. PhilpUh, Well, we may have to
cut away as soon as Donald Trumpspeaks. To go right ahead, philp
This guy, he should be aprize to him. Man. A couple

(03:13):
of things. First of all,Underston that the Secret Sitters had two two
meetings together in Pennsylvania that day,one for Jill Biden, well Biden's family,
so I might have split up thegroup from fifty or twenty five.
Second, I don't want to theykill the guy, but they can all
these moderness modern technology. They can'thook up a couple of drones and just

(03:37):
go round a couple of the onlyway the building naturally could be like the
guy who can call and tex whenthey show the president. And how about
a how about a bulletproof exercise? It wouldn't help them here, but how
about a bulletproof but the kind heused to have one, he used to
have the the face mat I wantto have something like that to go around

(03:59):
him. It's not gonna protect themeverything. And how about have I got
Kevin Kevil bulletproof, some kind ofa screen or some kind of patent it
can fall down from the ceiling.I know it's Teler James Bullen and enveloped
him a couple of guys that hasthrow him out of it like take it
seek and too fast. Yeah.I think that when American politicians these days

(04:25):
get out and for a long timeAmerican politicians meet with the people, that
danger cannot be fully eliminated. Andthank goodness that that danger had come to
fruition on Saturday. On Saturday Saturdayevening in Pittsburgh, he's also flanked by
Congressman Byron Donald's as well as hisvice presidential choice, JD. Vance.

(04:48):
And as they say, there isa program that is going on, and
we're gonna cut away once he beginsto speak, and I think that the
tone of his remarks will be inpointed, but in the meantime we'll continue
to drifting. Well, it's probablyyour phone. I don't think I've drifted
out. I feel appreciate you call. Thank you very much, have a

(05:13):
great night. Good night, Galein situate, Gail am going to get
you in here, bring us backto reality. Go ahead, Gail.
Wow, that was quick. HeyDan, Dan. A few callers back,
you had a girl named Susan, and I had to agree with everything.
I thought she was on point oneverything. I thought. I felt
she was really right when she saidthat the Secret Service should have kept Trump
down. So you know, somethinglike that happens you you you get the

(05:36):
president down and out of out offocus. I mean they should have taken
them off the stage and whisked themaway. And I also agree with her
that this is more probably you haveto do with this is a lot to
do with gun violence. But Ialso do agree that that, yes,
the Secret Service should have done alot more to cover that whole area.

(06:00):
Let me, you make it somany points, let me and normally you
and I don't agree, but I'mgonna don't disagree, but I'd like to
disagree on this point. The atthat stage, when he went down behind
the podium, he was relatively hewas very safe there because that uh that
that front of the stage is bulletproof. So they kept him down for a

(06:25):
reason. They kept him down becausethey wanted to be sure that their job
was to get him off the stageand into the what they called the beast,
which is the big vehicle that wouldget him on you. Okay,
So they kept him behind he washe was very safe at that point because
he was behind a bulletproof barrier. If you if you can, you can

(06:49):
recall the scene once that they knewthat the shooter had been, in their
words, neutralized, which meant theythen had to clear And I'm sure that
there was communications going on as towhether or not there was any other issue
or problem. So if they hadjumped up immediately with him and there was

(07:13):
another shooter, he would have beenexposed. But as long as he was
down, it wasn't the podium thatwas protecting him, but it was the
front of that stage that is bulletproof. Yeah, but there's a point in
where he's he's his whole head, upper body sticking up and he's pumping his
arm up. Oh that was atthat point. And again, I'm not
here to protect the Secret Service ordefend the Secret Service. At that point

(07:39):
they probably were told it is youcan move, you can move him safely.
Now, they kicked him up andshort of carried him or whatever,
or he put his arm around acouple of them. They were trying to
get him off the stage as safelyas they could, and he was intent.
He's a pretty big guy, andhe was intent on pumping that fist

(08:00):
and showing people that he was stillalive. And I think it was spontaneous.
I don't think anyone had planned it. I think it was his gut
reaction. I'm sure that he hadnever thought in his mind, well,
someday, if I get shot inthe air and I'm bleeding, I'm going
to jump up. So I thinkit was It was like it was like

(08:20):
a movie, but it was.It wasn't a movie. It was actual,
actual reality. I mean when whenwhen when Ronald Reagan was shot,
you know, they walked covered him, they completely covered him. They didn't
completely cover him. They walked himtowards Hinckley and Hinckley fires a couple of
Hickley probably was fifteen or twenty feet. He was closer to Reagan than the

(08:41):
shooter was to Trump. And theypushed Reagan in the car and they got
him out of there. The carwas the car was literally the motor was
running and the door was open.He was I Thinky had hesitated, his
opportunity would have ended, right. But I just felt that Secret Service had
Trump to expose. Like Trump wastoo visible when he was pumping his fist.

(09:03):
They should have got him down andstayed him down and maybe to ride
him into the car. He wastwo, and when he started pumping his
fist, you know, Secret Serviceshould have told him, no, get
down. Okay, well they were, I think they were. If you
noticed that there was one Secret Serviceguy, I want a big guy in
the back who was kind of keepinghis arm down. But again, you
know what this is all, uhwe see it, each of us see

(09:26):
it a little differently. I thoughtthat that as bad as the prep was,
their advanced prep was that allowed abuilding to be uncovered in that proximity.
I think that how they responded theywere on that stage in a matter
of seconds. They were, andthey were on top of him in a
matter of seconds. But I didthere with previous callers, and when you

(09:48):
know, some previous callers had said, why weren't Secret Service on all of
those roofs when they should have been, even if it was far away,
they should have been Secret Service onthose roofs. You know, you get
do you get Trump, who isnot a likable guy by half the country.
And yeah, I really think theSecret Service dropped the ball there and

(10:09):
someone someone mentioned drones. Earlier droneswould have been good. But there's no
question. And look again, Ithink it was horrible what happened. Horrible
what happened. But guess what.At this point, I think the Secret
Service is going to have to improvetheir game and I can't. All I

(10:31):
can do is to try to getpeople tonight. And thank you for following
crazy Eric from Kidnery made I meanthat that sort of person and I'm tempted
to tell Rob never let him onmy show again because of that stupidity that
he vomited tonight on the air.So anyway, uh, jale as always,

(10:54):
thank you so much for you forthe conversation. Thanks Gail Talks.
All right, we're going to takea break. We're still waiting for Donald
Trump. Let's hit a couple ofcommercials here. If we have to break
out, we will rob to thePaula's and the line Peggy and Don and
Jean. We're going to get toyou at some point, stay right there.
Coming back on night's side. Acouple of vocal lines. We'll be

(11:16):
back right after this. Now backto Dan Ray live from the Window World
night Side Studios on WBZ News Radio. We are monitoring what's going on at
the Republican convention in Milwaukee. Andessentially Donald Trump appeared and is sitting in
the convention inside in front of hissupporters, and he's sitting with family members

(11:43):
and with the vice presidential nominee, his vice presidential nominee, jd Vance,
And there's a series of speakers onvarious issues coming forward, and Donald Trump
is taking it all in. Wehad been told that Donald Trump would speak.
If he does speak, we willhave that speech for you. But

(12:05):
in the meantime, we're getting phonecalls and we're taking your calls as to
your reaction to the events of thelast three days. It's been an amazing
period of time. Let me goto a gene. In every gene,
you're next on nightside. Be advisedthat if Donald Trump were to speak,
we'll have to jump away. Butyou are next on nightside, Geene,

(12:26):
go right ahead, Yes, sure, I thank you very much. Welcome
back, and we missed you onyour vacation. Well i'd been back.
Actually this is my fort chan Comeback, so thank you very much,
appreciate it. No, I know, I just haven't thought I well,
first of all, I do thinkthat that Eric is a total creep.
He needs to be blocked from callingbecause he is advertising for more violence.

(12:50):
Yep, there are people out therewho are very sick. That's all they
have to hear is let me dothis, Robert. As a matter of
fact, I agree with if you'vegot Eric's number, just let Eric know
we don't need his garbage calls anymore. And by the way, that will
also apply to people on the right. Anybody who says anything that is now

(13:11):
we should do something to someone else. It doesn't matter whether it's violence directly
dangerous. I have that former PresidentTrump or directed at any other political leader,
so exactly. Now, I dothink that the Secret Service, as
far as they go, I thinkthere were not enough of them, and
they were not enough of them, that's for sure. But I know if

(13:33):
I were planning a security in thatarea, I would have suggested a different
venue. I didn't like all thoseroofs all over the place. They've just
had too much access to anyone onthat stage. I mean, it just
didn't look like it was just tooopen and the possibilities wherever I go.
I've been like that for a longtime because well, I have a situation

(13:56):
that I have to be careful,so I always look around and want to
know, am I safe here?Where are the exits? All kinds of
things should I know? When you'rethe President of the United States, you
assume. You assume when you're Presidentof the United States that the Secret Service
has a plan to get you onstage and off stage safely. And Donald

(14:20):
Trump has done literally scores of bigrallies uh and THISTD. But you finish,
please, Jean, let me,Jean, let me finish my point,
give me that. Okay. Ijust want people to understand I don't
want to panic people here that whathappened on Saturday was an anomaly. We
need to find out why it happenedthat way on Saturday. Excuse me,

(14:43):
on Saturday was an anomaly. It'sthe exception to the rule. The rule
is the events go on. Weneed to make sure every event goes on,
and we need to investigate as fullyas possible why this one didn't go
as it should have. Simple,Okay, but with with in mind,
keeping in mind that there are alot of haters out there, and there

(15:09):
are a lot of crazy people outthere, so you know, so what,
So what's the solution, Gene?Tell me? So there are crazy
people out there, are the hatersout there, there's maybe there's some terrorists
out there. You're absolutely right,it is. We live in a dangerous
society. So what is your solution? Well, I don't walk down doc

(15:30):
alleyways. No, No, I'mnot talking about your solutions, Gene.
I know that you're dark Alleys asan example. We all have what is
your solution? Gee, that's whatI'm saying. Tell me, Jean,
Geene. Look, you know, when when I walk out of my house,
I make sure that there's not likea rabbit animal in the backyard.

(15:50):
That's but but don't what's your solutionfor We're talking not talking about Gene and
Everett or Dan. We're talking aboutthe presidential candidates. What's your solution should
they not campaign anymore? No?No, the solution is give him,
give him, give this guy enoughsecret service, not just a handful,

(16:11):
and also have somebody that actually knowshow to look for security breaches or security
problems before he's a great identity thatthat is a fabulous suggestion. I'm so
glad that you provided that. Iasked you the question, give us a
great answer. They need to havemore agents, and they need to have
agents who are paying attention. Excellentpoint, excellent point. Listen. I

(16:33):
want God bless America and God blessAmerica. I couldn't agree with you more.
Thank you very much, Thank youvery you. Have a great night.
Good night. We're going to takea news break here. I'm going
to walk around and scream. We'llbe back on Nightside. If you're on
night Side with Dan Ray on wBoston's news radio. The president of the

(16:56):
Teamster, Sean O'Brien, is givinga great speech right now, putting both
Republicans and Democrats on any independence onnotice that the votes of teamsterss across the
country are up for grabs. Andthis is a coup for Donald Trump,
who apparently has been developing a friendshipwith Sean O'Brien, a local guy,

(17:18):
a Boston guy by the way.Six one, seven, two, four,
ten thirty. We are waiting, and again we have been told,
we've been led to believe that DonaldTrump would be speaking tonight, and if
he does, we will provide thatfor you. I guarantee it. If
he doesn't, obviously we don't havethe ability to make him speak. In
the meantime, I'd like to hearall of you speak your thoughts and comments

(17:38):
on what has gone on in thelast well think about it. It's really
not much. From Saturday night toMonday night. We're talking about a little
more than fifty hours. I meanfifty hours that maybe maybe has changed this
country. And look, what I'mhoping is that out of this we will

(18:00):
all tone it down a little bit. I think that I'm hoping that President
Trump will emphasize that theme as PresidentBiden did over the weekend. Let's get
back to the call. It's gonnago to Peggy in South Boston. Peggy
next time. Night's right ahead?Hi. I had a strange Yes,
Hi, Jimmy, hear me,I can hear you? Just find Peggy,

(18:22):
go right ahead, Okay, Ihad a strange day Saturday. I
listened to the TV. I liketo watch Lucky Dogs. And after that
they had a special on ob Lincolnand they showed who is that he was
in that was assassinated in And afterthat I want to mass at fourth to

(18:48):
three. By the way, Peggy, your in and out. If you
could talk into your into the mouthpieceon your phone would be much more effective.
Okay, so here I am atwhat is that tab at the favor?

(19:10):
Why don't you try to clean upPeggy's like us? I kind of
understand what she's saying. In themeantime, let me go to Joe and
with them. Joe, you're nexton Nightside. Go ahead, Joe,
Hey, Dan, how you doing. I'm doing great. What's on your
mind tonight? I hope you arein agreement with neither We gotta we got
to tone this down a little bit. Well, what I was thinking I
was listening to an earlier caller ofall these conspiracy theories that are going around.

(19:32):
I don't believe that any one ofthe Democratic Party is out trying to
recruit someone to shoot Donald Trump. But I think the nasty, absolute violent
tone of the rhetoric might be reachingsome person, you know, living in
their parents' basement, thinking, well, Donald Trump is going to turn it
to Hitler, He's going to enddemocracy. I can take him out and

(19:56):
stop that from happening. It's theit's the and I think is making people
crazy in making them do violent thingslike this. Well, the thing that's
interesting, I think you do havea point. That That's why I think
the tone of this campaign on bothsides needs to be taken down, because

(20:18):
when you start to compare someone toadd Off Hitler, it's, you know,
hyperbole at best. At worst,it's almost a wish, because I
can't think of another human being,a more vile human being than Hitler,
who sends six million people to thegas chambers, innocent men, women and

(20:40):
children. And what we have tounderstand is that whether you're a Democrat or
a Republican, whether you're a conservativeor a liberal, and if you have
a point of view about politics, just like if you have a point of
view about your favorite baseball or footballteam, there's going to be not everyone's
going to agree with you. Andwe've talked about this, Joe, and

(21:02):
I'm sure that you understand exactly whatI'm saying. There are families that have
been ripped apart by this. Therehave been families that now members don't talk
to each other, friendships have lawhave been shattered. That has torn as
under the really the fabric of ourcountry. And we have to tone it
down. And I've said before, just because you disagree with me over politics.

(21:29):
Maybe you're a New York Jets fanand I love the Patriots. I
can still be your friend, canI You would hope so. But I
think it's gotten so bad that nowthere is no discussion. There's just arguing
among the different political views. Nobodyis talking to someone that're just yelling at

(21:52):
the other person. Yeah, andI think that has to stop. And
I think that all of us haveto say, Okay, let's listen now.
When someone like Eric from Kid toRemain calls up and basically says we'll
get him next time, that's enoughfor me. He's never going to be
on this show again. Okay.We take people and we eliminate them,
Okay, because that is I No, one's don't use my show for that

(22:14):
stuff. Okay. So Eric, who has called before and has been seemed
to be somewhat rational, he's notaround. He's not rational. So he's
gone, simple as that. AndI'm going to try to do the same
with and the people who drive menuts in this show, the people who
you can't even have a conversation with. They just want to go and spit
it all out, and you tryto have a conversation, you and I

(22:36):
are having a conversation. I don'tknow what your politics are, it doesn't
matter to me, but at leastwe're having a conversation, as opposed to
somebody who try to get Can Iask you a question? Ah, because
it's hard. I've gets there. It doesn't matter, you know, but
just flap their lips. I'm tiredof those people. Unfortunately. That's what
I was trying to say. Peopleare not talking to each other. They're

(22:56):
talking at each other. And Ijust want to tell you real quick,
you know, families being torn apot. I was just speaking to my brother
yesterday, and my little brother.I love him, We're very close.
He was in the military for twentyyears. He got out, he went
to law school. He lives inWashington, d C. He's a lawyer.
And he is warning me that, you know, Trump is going to
end democracy. He's going to turninto Hitler. He's gonna install himself as

(23:18):
a dictator and he'll never leave office. And I'm like, oh my god,
you got to calm this down.I don't think that's going to happen.
Your brother, as a lawyer, should be smarter than that. If
you don't mind, where'd your brothergo to law school George Washington. A
friend of mine used to be thedean of law at George Washington, Fred

(23:40):
Lawrence. I hope he wasn't therewhen Fred was there. Look, we
have a balance of power in thiscountry and a separation of powers in this
country executive, judicial, and legislative. And it's a cheap way to run
for public office, you know.Basically, Donald Trump has done some crazy

(24:00):
things. He did crazy things onJanuary sixth. Okay, the biggest mistake
he made, as I've said, was assembling that crowd on January sixth,
because once once he assembled that crowd, you had some really bad people in
that crowd who wanted to spur peopleon to some violent acts. It was
a small minority of the crowd, but it was an effective minority of the

(24:22):
crowd, and we saw what happened. There's no excuse for that. I
think it's amazing that Donald Trump hasmade it back this far. Let's see
if the American public wants to givehim a second chance in the White House.
And if he you know, look, if he tries to do what
your brother fears, he will beshut down, He will be impeached,

(24:45):
to be removed from office. Inmy opinion, that's what I try to
tell him. This entire country isspecifically designed to prevent that from happening,
and your brother in place to stopthat. Brother should understand that. Your
brother should understand that's people get soemotional that they stop thinking rationally and they

(25:07):
just react emotionally, and everybody's doingit. It's just there's no rational discourse
anymore. Have your brother called mesome night and I'll try to I'll try
to settle them down for you.Okay, I don't know if you would
be interesting radio. I'll tell youthat, Joe, do me your favorite
keep calling this program. You're thetype of caller I need. I need

(25:30):
to hear new voices, and Ineed to hear rational voices. And I
don't well, thank you, asI say, I don't care if you're
a Democrat Republican. We can argueabout issues. Oftentimes I will play devil's
advocates. Sometimes I actually will willtake a position. My job is to
is to try to generate and makepeople think. That's what I'm trying to

(25:51):
do and I want I want peopleto feel comfortable and feel invited to be
here. And so tell your friendsabout nightside and come on back more often.
Okay, thanks Joe, Okay, thank you. Talk to you soon
and say how to your brother forme. Thanks. We will take a
very quick break coming back on Night'sside. Was still waiting to see whether

(26:12):
or not Donald Trump decides to speaktonight. I hope he does. I
think that his comments will be important. The only line opened six one seven
back on nights side. Right afterthis, now bent and Dan Bones,
we go gonna go to Gary downin New Jersey. Gary, welcome back.
Nightside. Is waiting to hear whatyou have to say. Go ahead,

(26:34):
Gary, Hey, I gotta tellyou. I'd ask you how you're
doing, but I think I knowuh well. One. I think he
was a kid that was and I'mgonna be a little longer than normal,
not necessarily, Gary, because yougal only got a pretty good chunk of
time. Go right ahead. Igot full lines. Go ahead. Hill

(26:56):
was a kid I had a lotof bad days. Decided he was going
to grab his fifteen minutes of infantme and not saying yep. One.
If there was a conspiracy, Ithink I would hire someone with a little
more proficiency in firearms. And thegun he picked is an M four is

(27:19):
the last gun that you want tomake a shot from if you are not
well trained with it. I'll tellyou what, when you're putting lead out
there, it's the luck of thedraw. He's in the right area.
But if he really wanted to hityou would have wanted to scope weapon thirty

(27:44):
at six definitely a bolt action soyou could time your breathing with your trigger
pull. And the other thing isas far as the you know the Secret
Service and that I believe that wherethis it was was not in their perimeter,
but it was in the local perimeter. Well, I can tell you

(28:06):
something. You can put a swatSpecial Ops uniform on someone, give them
black, give them all the gunsyou want. But Beaver Pennsylvania, how
much special operations do you think theydo. It's not like they had New
York Emergency Services or Boston Emergency Services. These are local guys that hey stand

(28:29):
on this roof, make sure noone shoots shoots them. You know that
there was no one standing on theroof. Gary, That's the point that
we're people have made tonight. Imean that roof was uncovered. This kid
climbed up the side of the buildingor walked in the building. Howd we
get in? And there was somelocal copp who saw them up there,
and I guess the kid turned therifle on the cop and the cops you
know, back down. I waskind of surprised at that because you're trained,

(28:55):
I mean, you're not training.Someone points a gun on you,
and you got a gun, yougonna shoot him. So, I,
you know what, I don't knowthat much about it, but I can
say one thing. It's just oneof them things. But to think that
they would hire some kid, likethey said, living in his mom's space,
I no, I don't think so. Yeah. I mean I dismiss
that pretty easily. Yeah, conspiracytheories, they say is better than sex.

(29:22):
And you know, if you wantto look into anything enough, I'm
sure you could make up a scenario. But like I said, I you
know, I think you had akid here that had a lot of bad
days. Oh. Absolutely, itwas like out of a twenty year old
kid. Twenty year old kid.He should have been worrying about, you

(29:42):
know, sports teams and and datingwomen, dating girls women. Yeah,
was he going out with Mary Louthat night to the movies? And I
doubt I don't think probably he probablyhad had seen much of Mary Lou lately.
But we'll see what happens. It'stough. I mean, you've got
to look at the kid in Michigan. The kid in Michigan with the parents

(30:03):
are now in jail. The twoparents who they they let the kid have
guns and all of that. Look, you know, people have to be
responsible. I let my kids haveguns when they were little. I live
in a rural area, but everythingwas controlled. You can't you can't just

(30:23):
say here, go out in thewoods and play. It's like, oh
my god. It's like when youget the kids, let them take the
car. As the teenagers, theygot to be responsible. They come back
with that car. Ding man, they're not going to see the car again.
And yeah, Gary, I gottarun, I gotta go. As
always, I love your calls, man, you know that. Talk to
you so about thanks. One ofmy favorite callers, Dennis in Manchester,

(30:45):
New Hampshire. Dennis, gonna getyou in here before the eleven o'clock news.
God, Dennis, Dan. Ihope that the spectacle of five foot
for one hundred and twenty pounds womensurrounding a six foot read two hundred and
forty pounds protect he as a defensiveshield, and lifting him up off of

(31:10):
the ground is not going to affectour commitment to diversity, equity, and
inclusion. I think that that thereare plenty of five foot four female Secret
Service members who probably could could flipyou with me, Dan, We should

(31:36):
not have seen his face after theshot. I do understand your instinct.
By the way, Donald Trump isstarting to move here, and if he's
heading towards a microphone, we willbe taking him here. Or if he's
just leaving. It's a little difficultto tell. Right now. It looks
to me like he may be justleaving and not having spoken, but having

(31:57):
appeared tonight. He's a shaking handswith supporters here. Again, I don't
think I'm not knocking the five footfour women. I think they should be
assigned to Kamala Harris's detail maybe, and transfer the six foot two men from
her detail to Donald Trump's. Well. Again, Trump obviously is a is

(32:19):
a pretty good sized guy. Uh. And yeah, apparently Donald Trump is
not going to speak tonight, becauseit appears as if he is now exiting
the convention home. So that's kindof a little bit of a disappointment.
Would have loved to have heard whathe had to say tonight, but we
will wait for another night, foranother for another opportunity. Dennis, I

(32:40):
hear your point. I understand that, and I appreciate you taking the time
of call. And we'll see ifpeople want to react to what you have
to say. Okay, Well, the failings has to be at least as
tall as the thing that's protecting allright, thank you, thanks Dennis.
Thanks. Okay, the convention centeris we have one more time. Can
we get one more person in hereso they don't have to wait? We

(33:05):
got too Okay, let me goto Chris and Beverly. Chris, I'm
gonna get you in here before theeleven o'clock news. Donald Trump is exiting
the convention Center and we will hearhim speak, but not tonight. Go
right ahead. Chris was up there, going great, doing great. What's
on your mind? I just hada cool question. I haven't been able
to get a straight, real, illictic answer about this. Maybe you get

(33:27):
out of vault. All right,so I've heard this comment like you rather
to call us in a few minutesago about it's Donald Trump. It's like
gets him back in the White House. He's never gonna leave, Like I
don't understand him, Like, isthat propaganda or something like? I mean,
what if like Biden ever wouldn't wantto leave the Whitehouse? Could you
explat at the White House? Idon't unders seeing that, like you can't.
Like. First, first of all, Donald Trump once left the White

(33:49):
House? Okay? Uh? AndI I do believe that in this country
if there ever was a president elected, and I don't think it would be
Donald Trump. Donald Trump has alot of flaws. He's criticized him on
many occasions, but I do notbelieve Donald Trump would ever. First of
all, Donald Trump can only serveone term if he's elected number one,

(34:10):
but number two if he decided totry to, say, become president for
life, I think that the courtsand the US military would take care of
that situation. Are you a kiddingme? Yeah? I was like,
that doesn't even seem like an issue, Like I don't understand where people are
well, well, the Democrats hadmade it an issue because of January sixteenth
and some of the things that meantDonald Trump has has done. So,

(34:34):
I mean, Donald Trump is adifferent type of politician than anything you and
I have seen in our lifetime. At that level. Okay, and but
he was and sorry what I don'tthink he's that crazy. No, no,
no no. And obviously he's beenable to work a situation where he's
now the Republican nominee. He survivedan assassination attempt and a lot of people

(34:59):
in this country gonna look at thatand say, hey, this guy,
this guy's got some stones, ifyou know what I'm saying, and that
will impact at the election right there, right there, I totally well,
you might look back at it now. I don't know. Again, it's
a long time between now and November. But we'll see, we'll see what
happens. Hey, if you calledbefore, Chris, are you a regular

(35:19):
caller? I call a long timeago. I listen to your show on
the open Mark. I'm actually youdo me a favorite call more often because
you're a rational caller and and youyou you engaged in a conversation. That's
all I ask people to do.So please continue to call this program because
I need I need your voice.Okay, absolutely, thank you, Chris.
Here comes the eleven o'clock news.Donald Trump has exited the convention floor

(35:45):
and we have one more hour left. I want to hear from you.
If you think I'm crazy, feelfree to tell it to me, but
be prepared to walk the plank ifyou want to engage in a conversation.
That's what I'm looking for in Newcallers are particularly welcome tonight. We'll be
back right after the eleven o'clock news. Do
