Figures released by the Insurance Council show the year's two biggest weather events have cost insurers over $2 billion.
The twin disasters of the Auckland floods and Cyclone Gabrielle have generated $3.5 billion across 112,812 claims- according to a recent estimate.
Insurance Council spokesperson Christian Judge says progress is being made on settling the claims at a good pace, but there's still a ways to go.
"For all of those people that haven't had their claims settled yet, they want them settled. So it's a mixed picture. We've had big disasters in the past, and compared to those, we're doing better."
