8/29 Crazy First Date – Dee in Laurel & The Date That Went International

Dee went on a first date and by the end of it, a second date was already booked. BUT… it was to attend a concert in South Africa! WHAT?!?! Listen to this Crazy First Date story to hear how it went and find out if they’re still together.

It's crazy Fursday in Laurel d What happened?

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Went to Texas and I visited a friend who I
had known over the years, just casually and we go
to breakfast. It turned into lunch and he literally had
a flight to catch a few hours later, and he goes,
what would happen if I shot my shot? And I'm like, wait,
is this the real thing? So that conversation evolved into
him saying his favorite artist is going to be performing
in Cape Town in a few days and he would

(00:27):
love for us to go to the concert together. So
I pulled up flight information on my phone. I'm like,
are we really going to do this? It seems kind
of silly. We're one or two drinks in and he's
like yeah, and so I leave my phone. I go
to back and I'm like, if I come back, and
the tickets like already purchased, We're going to go, And
so I come back and he pushed the information on
the phone. Chicken was purchased. So four days later I
got on a flight to go to South Africa. On

the way, one of the plane of connecting flights left me.
It was a mess, but I got there just in
time the next day for the concert. So we went
and had a great time and best first take so far.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Please tell me it ended happily and that maybe you
saw each other again.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Well, I stayed with him like the whole time while
I was there, So we saw each other for the
next three to four days. Yeah. No, we went fight seeing,
we went to dinners. We've did a bunch of things.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yes, I've heard there's a lot of things to do
in South Africa, but that's more than just shooting one shot.
That's like throwing a hail mary past. Did you think
that he had lost his mind when he brought that up?

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Originally in the moment, I did, because I didn't expect
this date to turn into that. I didn't even think
it was a date. We were just having breakfast. So
in that first moment, I was like again, and then
I said, why not? Actually, what would be the reason
not to do this?

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Well, it sounds like the beginning of a great love story.
What happened after that trip we did?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
We kept in contact. We were dating, I guess long
distance dating. It was new, it was fresh, but after
some months it didn't end up working out.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
No more distance shows up. I mean, it's one thing
to fly to South Africa, it's another thing to have
a long distance relationship when you're here in the DMB.
And he's a used to the dudes in Tejas.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Yeah. Man, and that was quite the bar that you
guys set with the first date.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
You can't come back from that.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
What is the next guy gonna have to do? Take
you on on around the world cruise?

Speaker 1 (02:16):
At this point, let's just start with a nice date
right here, like Potomac or Alexandria or something like that,
and go from there.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
How about maybe a different concert, not in South Africa,
but at Capitol One Arena to go see justin Timberlake.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
That will make my well.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
