Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one WHAUT.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Happy President's Day for those who observe Toby and Chilly
in the morning. It's ninety seven point one wash FM.
It's a holiday for so many in the federal workforce.
But I gotta be honest, I don't know if schools
are like looking at today like it's a break. But
I know the banks are closed and the government's closed.
And if it's a holiday for you, good for you.
But if not, you're on your way to wherever your
(00:26):
workplace destination may be right now. Thank you for waking
up with us. There's always a reason to feel good
before five o'clock. And I'm sure for those of you
who have President's Day off, you're feeling pretty good that
today's a holiday if you're up this early getting life
stuff done. So here's to you feeling good because today
is a holiday. And right now that Taylor Shay is
(00:46):
in the studio, she produces us keeps everything together and
playing the part at Chili Yama once again across from me,
the great Katie Harris. Kat Let's start with you and
then volley it over to Taylor. Why are you feeling
good this morning before five. I am feeling so.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Good because I woke up when my alarm went off.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Hallelujah. You know that was questionable with all the winds
last night, Yeah, well I was.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
I was really nervous.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
You always get nervous when you you know, when you
have to be somewhere earlier than what you normally would be.
And I had to dream last night that I woke
up late, I missed the alarm, and I got into
work and Taylor you fired me, and Toby you fired me,
and I was just sitting there and then I and
I was just like, oh my god, I'm I gonna
wake up on me, and that alarm went off and
I was.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Like, yes, well, who would I be to fire anybody
for being late to work? A Nope, not touching that
one with a stick. But that's a good reason to
feel good, getting up on time and having the alarm
do its job. And Taylor, Shaye, what about you this morning?
Speaker 5 (01:45):
I've actually been thinking about this since last night. I'm
glad that Katie is here because it means we're getting breakfast.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Oh hallelujah. That's I gotta be honest. I picked some
stuff up but I picked it up knowing that I
could have it after the show, thinking that whenever the
three of us are together, we typically find a way
to get breakfast sent in after six o'clock renewber each
starts delivering little things in life. On a Monday, it's
a holiday, although we're working just like maybe you or
(02:12):
if not you, good for you. It's ninety seven point
one WASHFM. Valentine's Day was this weekend, So coming up
next with Toby and Chilly in the morning. Well, recap
Valentine's Day? How was it for you? If you want
to jump in now, eight sixty six, nine two, seven
forty three sixty one is the number. Did you get
something from your Valentine that blew you away? Maybe it
wasn't everything you wanted to be. Hopefully you had a
(02:34):
great Valentine's Day weekend, Valentine's Day being on Friday. Toby
and Chilly in the morning, it's ninety seven point one WASHFM. Over.
There's Katy Harrison for Chilli, Yamar and producer Taylor Shay
is in here with us.
Speaker 6 (02:47):
Me.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
I'm Toby Napp. Valentine's Day, Ladies, was great for me.
I got into this news show with my significant other
who came over and spent most of the weekend with me.
And it's called land Man. It's on Paramount Plus and
it's all about like oil and gas in West Texas,
and my dad was an exploration geologist and I'm from Texas,
(03:08):
so it hit kind of close to home. I didn't
think I was going to watch the entire season and
a weekend, but I did. And I haven't done that
in a hot minute.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
That's nice.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
It was awesome. We did that, and then we went
and saw a movie, the New Captain America movie. We'll
talk more about that at some other point in time,
but that was just, you know, it was just little things,
nothing really super special, just spending time. You know, it
sounds about you for me.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
My dad's been in the hospital for the last two
months and Valentine's.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Day was the day that we brought them home. So
that was my Valentine's Day.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Well, you can't really beat that as a Valentine. No
microphone dropped in a little bit, however, Taylor say, I'm
sure you have something to say.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
It was very low key.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
I have two toddlers, two little boys. They're three and four,
and they're finally old enough to understand what it means
to give mommy a Valentine. And they made me handmade
stuff and got me flowers and they were so excited.
They ran up to me when I walked in the
door from work and they we got do this, mommy.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
No, you show that off for a little bit. That
gets hung up on the fridge and then it gets
promptly put away someplace where you keep your special things,
right I do.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
I actually have a box where I keep all the
special stuff that they made.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
And it's funny because I actually have the box when
my son was little, and every once in a while,
when I, like Needa pick me up, I will go
back and read those little letters that he wrote you
when he's so small, and.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Oh man, I'm missed those days. Now it's like she's
off in college and you're lucky if you get a
phone call these days, it's more like a text happy
Valentine's Day. No, Okay, that was really that was really moving.
I really feel the love. But anyway, well, I'm glad, ladies,
you had a great Valentine's Day. It sounds like we
(04:56):
all did, and hopefully you did too. And if you didn't,
have a Valentine. Don't worry about it because you know what,
you can be your own Valentine. Just look in the mirror.
You never you don't need somebody else to define you
or to love you for you start by loving yourself
all right anyway.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
And I'm all about loving myself.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Amen to that. And if you're not, maybe you're having
a tough morning. Your morning mindset's on the way. Next
some words that hopefully will inspire you to take on
this President's Day Monday can and now it's that part
of the morning where we talk about you. Ninety seven
point one wash FM, Toby and Chilly in the morning
there's KT and for Chili jamar on this President's Day
holiday and it's time now for your morning mindset.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
We need words of inspiration to get the week started. Toby,
what is the morning mindset for the day?
Speaker 2 (05:43):
JM. Barry says, the moment you doubt whether you can fly,
you cease forever to be able to do it. Think
about that. Let that sink in for a minute. The
moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever
to be able to do it. Jmbarry said that this morning,
(06:04):
and to me, it says, and I don't know exactly
what it says to you, but I felt like I
wanted to share it with you because there have been
times when we've doubted ourselves right, and when we doubt ourselves,
we stop ourselves from being able to do what we
wanted to do that whatever we were dreaming of doing.
That doubt can stop you from flying. So don't doubt
(06:25):
whether or not you can. Maybe it's just not time,
but when you doubt, you stop yourself forever from being
able to do whatever it is you wanted to do.
So keep that in mind as we get into this
brand new week, and don't doubt whether or not you
can fly, because you don't want to cease forever to
be able to do it. Jmbarry what a quote this
morning to get a new week started. If you want
(06:46):
to read it again, you can. You can find it
the Toby and chilipage at washefm dot com or just
dm us and one of us will send it your way. Okay,
you can find us all right there, It's ninety seven
point one WASHEFM now coming up in just a few minutes.

It's ninety seven point one. Watch FM. Taylor Sha, our
(12:27):
great producer, came up with this question this morning and
I think we can all relate to this. Taylor hit
us with the question you post to Katie Harris, who's
in for CHILIAMR and myself.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
Well, what is the weirdest thing that you found in
a jacket pocket? And the reason that I asked this
question is I dug in the back of my closet
to find a coat this weekend that I haven't worn
in years, and in the pocket I found bags that
you used to clean up after your pet on walks
and I haven't had a dog in eleven years.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Oh, you found the doggy duty guys.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
Like crazy. So that was a fun, little fine memory,
a sign for you.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Maybe kt what you got.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Don't judge, don't judge, don't judge. But I had gotten
a jacket out one day and in the pocket, don't judge,
was a piece of a leftover Costco hot dog.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
No, no, because I remember I went to Costco, I
hot the hot dog. I didn't need it all. I
put it in the wrappers and I'll get to it later.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Did you notice any kind of smell emanating from that
jacket pocket? Ne it was wrapped up in the fo
Was it preserved?
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Don't judge? The hot dogs are natural preservatives? I mean,
but how long was it in there? Please say just
a day. No longer than a day. I don't want
to talk about the time.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
You want to judgement free zone around here. We're not
gonna judge because I have a feeling you're not the
only person who can say that. By the way, the
numbers eight sixty six, nine two, seven, forty three sixty

jacket pocket, Like, for instance, the other day when I
was dropping off some jackets that I hadn't worn in
a minute. It's always one of those. I found tickets
to Hamilton on Broadway from when my daughter and I
went to see Hamilton on Broadway, and I was like, wow,
I didn't throw these away? Why did I.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
Keep these for good memories?
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Yeah, I'm just lazy.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Shelby and Chili's Nearly Impossible question?
Speaker 2 (14:40):
What is the question this morning? Kati Harris playing the
part of Chiliam, Are today the longest one of these?
Lasted ninety years?
Speaker 3 (14:48):
What is it?

Wow? Interesting? Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three

to that question, you could go see Lumineers free to
It's up for grabs this morning with your nearly impossible question.
It's on right now. You've got the question, call out,
get it right when, and then we'll learn something new.
(15:10):
And that's the point of your nearly impossible question on
this Monday. Stay there. The answer is on the way.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Top stories, top of the hour.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
The Irs is reportedly set to lay off thousands of
employees as soon as this week.
Speaker 2 (15:28):

This will come during the busiest time of year for
the tax collecting agency. Multiple outlet site sources saying they
will start letting go of probationary workers. US Border Patrol
agents will no longer use body cameras while working over
the weekend. Border Patrol announced officers will stop using body
cams immediately due to a potential security risk after a

social media post claimed agents could be identified through their cameras.
Metro Rail riders should probably check their train schedule before
heading out the door. Trains will be running to midnight,
but we'll be operating on a reduced schedule due to

Toby and Chilly in the Morning, and since we're pre
sitting number one on your iron app, talk back is
wide open for you too. Are you signed in listening
to us this morning? Good, because we want you to
throw your kids under the bus. If you're a parent,
you can relate to this question. What did your kids
(17:11):
drop down the toilet inadvertently or maybe maybe they got
rid of it for a good reason. They threw something
down the toilet you had to go fish it out,
or maybe even worse, it might have clogged it up.
What was it? Give us a call we'll discuss coming
up after eight this morning. Before that, a story that
might just make your Monday too. We'll get to all
(17:34):
of this and more coming up as Toby and Chilly
in the Morning continue. Sometimes kids do the darnedest things.
Time for you to throw your kids under the bus,
or maybe yourself if you don't have any kids? Did
you throw something down the toilet? What was it? Let's

A voice note. Kat Earrison for Chiliamar producer Taylor Shay
is here as well. Because while we've all got kids
in this little studio closet that we're in, Kat, what
did your kid throw down the toilet?
Speaker 4 (18:12):
When my son was younger, he loved flushing stuff. He's
flushed action figures, matchbox cars, and the worst thing the toothbrush.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Oh lord, Now did any of those cause irreparable harm
to said toilet?
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Yes, the toilet Actually this happened twice where it had
to be removed and the ring replaced.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Oh man, And see the kid was just being a kid,
and I'm you know, didn't know any better. Just was
there an uh oh that made you go, oh no.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
It's a silence and then a flush and then uh uh.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Producer Taylor Shae, what say you, mother of two toddlers.
Speaker 5 (18:49):
Oh, it's always the silence, this silent you know, it's
to come in. My son, my three year old, dumped
an entire bucket of mister Potato head parts and I
was like, not it, my.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Husband, ple wow, you said not it. You called it.
Not it. It's like it's like you're gonna go for
a drive in the car shotgun. Not it. That's all you, honey.
I wish my kid would have been quiet or said
something like uh oh. Instead, I just got.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
The dam.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Can you help? And I'd be like, Okay, what do
you need? Do you need me a tpe in the bathroom? No,
something fell in and it was always like a brush
or something like, you know, hair care related. Well, you know,
at least she called for help and didn't just give
me the oh or the silent treatment. We've all been
there though, our kids have thrown things down the toilet.
(19:41):
What did your kids toss in the commode? As my
grandmother used to say, eight six six ninety seven forty
three sixty, what is the number you can tap that
talk back microphone. Tell us what it is. We'll get
to it. It's Toby and chilly in the morning, continues
after eight. Next to story that we think might just
make your Monday. Couple of kids giving back in a
way that's encouraging everyone to read. Will tell you who
(20:03):
they are and what they have planned and how you
can help. Coming up here at ninety seven point one
Washing FM. Stay with it and now we go to Bethesda,
Maryland for a story that we think might just make
your Monday. Ninety seven point one wash FM. Toby and
Chilly in the Morning. Charlotte and Hendrick, right. They live
in Beth. They've put together an organization that they hope
(20:23):
will foster a love of reading amongst their friends and
their classmates. They've started an organization and the organization is
called the Lemonade Society.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
I love the name.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
Now, these kids they get together once a month host
a book club and they basically they're engaging and they're
participating in creative activities about their selected book. But to me,
what's so great about this is it really does foster
that love of reading. And of course the group also
(20:58):
fosters community service, which is huge. These kids organizing book
drives and wrapping new books to donate to the underserved communities.
Their efforts definitely improve literacy. But bring to me a
sense of hope and at the same time giving with
everyone participating.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
And that's the power of reading. I think of LeVar
Burton and reading Rainbow back in the day. Take a look,
it's in a book. Well for these two kids in Bethesda,
they've taken the idea that something might be in a
book and they've made it something real, something that can
bring about change. And by the way, they're kids who
just love reading and they want their friends to love
(21:38):
to read as well. The Lemonade Society founded in Bethesda,
Maryland by siblings brother and sisters, Charlotte and Hendrick, who
took the time to lead. If these two can lead
like this when it comes to literacy, what can we
as adults do. If you want to know more, visit
the Lemonade Society. We've put the link on the Toby
(22:00):
and chilipage at waschefm dot com. The Lemonade Society in Bethesda, Maryland.
A story that we thought might just make your Monday.
We hope that it did. Toby and Chilly in the

that's Katie Harrison for Chili AMR.

kid threw down the commode. Mary and Arlington, thank you
for calling us this morning. What was it and tell
us this story? I hear it's good.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
Happened and that he threw his Winnie the Pooh teddy
bear down the toilet while I.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Was toileted training him.
Speaker 6 (25:07):
And he said, well, you said Pooh, And I said,
not Winnie the Pooh, I said, sew in to the toilet.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
I just love how kids take things so literally.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Very true, Marian Arlington, thank you for the call. I mean,
and in his defense, he was doing the right thing
with Winnie the Pooh and putting Winnie the pool away,
if you know what I mean. Linda and Germantown what happened?
Speaker 6 (25:30):
So?
Speaker 8 (25:31):
I had a brand new sweater that my husband got me,
and it was like a smaller type of letter, you know,
kind of like form fitting, and my little one decided
to flush it right down toilet, or attempt to, and
completely backed everything up because it got stuck halfway.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Down and you never wore the sweater again, and that
was money down the drain.
Speaker 6 (25:52):

Speaker 2 (25:55):
Now the wall door of Kelsey, good morning. What happened?
Speaker 6 (25:59):
My kid threw an higher roll of toilet paper down
the toilet because I guess he thought that's what we do.
And it was such a messy situation to clean up it,
like clogged the toilet. It was horrible, but I mean,
I guess at least it sort of made sense.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Yeah, you can't get too mad. He had the right
idea there, Kelsey.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
Sometimes you just gotta let it roll.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
