Speaker 1 (00:00):
I got it. I finally got it.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
There's been this little teeny like flea fly thing in
this studio and it has been flying. And every time
I go up to the mic or start, you know,
messing with my headphones or whatever, this thing is buzzing
my tower.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
And I'm not kidding. I just got it. I just
got it. I killed it. I'm so happy. I'm so happy.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
I took a life and that brings you pleasure. I
don't know what's wrong.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
With you, hey, I tell you. I'm thinking to myself,
I cannot do this. For three hours. Man, this thing
kept flying in my face and it wasn't in here yesterday.
So I'm like, what is going on? Where did this
come from? I took a shower, it didn't come off
of me.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Mortally when I got something like in my face and
it's not really there, but I keep swiping it something
that apparently is not and it's like, well, is it
a hair on my nose? What's going And I feel
like an idiot doing that. There's no bug, there's no
you know, but I just keep I keep swatting at
something that's invisible.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
I don't know that we're gonna have any bugs in
the horror shoot tomorrow. It looks like, you know, as
far as the temperature, that could be possible, but it
also looks like rain.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
And I bring that up because the buck Eyes.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
It's the final, the last regular season home game for
the Buckeyes tomorrow, and he's part of our best Buckeye coverage.
Jeff Logan is joining us now and LOGI, good afternoon.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
How are you It's Friday? Baby?
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Yeah? Excited? It's Friday, the final one.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Okay, first and foremost, LOGI, thanks for taking a couple
of minutes to hang out with us.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Of course, U see La tomorrow. We'll get to that
in a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
But thoughts on last week's victory, the thirty four to
ten victory where the buck Eyes did not cover versus Purdue.
What did you see that you like? Did you see
anything that you said? Man, even this far into the
into the season, they still have quote unquote, you know,
fill in the blank this to work on.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yeah, you know, there's always coachable moments and you want
to try and improve week by week. But I thought
the performance was near perfect on Saturday against Purdue. They
went about it very businesslike. The goal was to play
a lot of players and sit some guys like Carnell
Tait who had a couple of you know, muscle issues,
(02:11):
and they just didn't want to push the envelope. And
so we had some guys going in on the offensive line.
We had Tywon Malone that didn't play on the defensive line,
and along with Carnell Tate, Ohio State never skipped a
beat in that game. And you know, the last garbage
touchdown that they got against our number two defense didn't
solve the cover. But outside of that, I thought it
(02:34):
was a good performance by Ohio State, very businesslike and
ready to move on to UCLA.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
LOGI I read Carnell he had like some tightness and hamstring.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Is that kind of Is that what you understand as well?
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Yeah, that's the impression I got, And it might have
been bothering a little bit during the week. You know,
they're required from a medical standpoint to list anybody that
is questionable or out of the game for sure because
of gambling reasons. Believe it or not, I know you
have a tough time understanding that pleasure. But every team
(03:10):
in America is required to post their availability report two
hours before kickoff, and you cannot manipulate that. So I
don't think they knew anything about the Carneal tape thing
until warm ups, and because he certainly was not on
any list of availability reports heading into that game.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I can tell you, LOGI that as far as sports betting,
I don't.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Know a whole lot about that.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
I've never claimed to I'm terrible at it every time
I've tried it. I have not even attempted it this year.
I know, little tongue in cheek there. As far as
the comic goes, if Blackjack were somehow involved in football,
then yeah, I guess maybe I'd be guilty of something
like that. But yeah, I understand that they have to
do that from a betting standpoint, And yeah, I mean
(03:57):
I totally actually totally understand that and get it because
that does affect the way people bet. As a matter
of fact, people were speculating because Carnell was not there,
that's why they didn't cover.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Obviously, we're never going to know who knows.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Clearly, he is a favorite target of Julian saying, so
you know, it's it's hard to say. As far as tomorrow,
something that people who do bet on sports look at
is weather and tomorrow it looks like, you know, Marshall
was predicting yesterday and I haven't spoken to him yet today,
but that it's going to be raining around game time
(04:33):
seven thirty in the shoe.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
It's not going to be cold though. I mean sixty six.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Is the predicted HI tomorrow probably I'm guessing low sixties
around kickoff. So that's not going to be any kind
of an element or any kind of problems as far
as echoes. But when it does rain, it makes everything different.
I mean the passing game, everything changes.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Yeah, it really does. And you know they're not talking
about downboards or anything else, but guys, let's face it,
it's November and it's the Big Ten. So weather is
going to be a part of almost every game on
a go forward basis in the month of November. If
you think back to last weekend, watching the game out
at Iowa, watching the game at Wisconsin, I mean, it
was coming down sideways. It was Big ten football the
(05:17):
way it's supposed to be played. And both of those games,
those teams were able to kind of muddle their way
through that weather. And I think Ohio State will be
well prepared for it. The last time that this quarterback
for UCLA. Nico Iolamle was here. He was the quarterback
of Tennessee. You may recall, and that was the first
(05:40):
round of the playoff game that Ohio State hosted. You
remember how cold and windy and just raw it was
that night in the stadium, and my friend Nico did
not have a very nice game that night. In fact,
he cracked his helmet twice, or we cracked his helmet twice,
and they had to replace helmets for him. So I
(06:00):
don't think this is a place he's looking forward to
coming back to anytime soon.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Yesterday I was I was watching ESPN, I think it
was yesterday, and Travion was talking to Scott Van pelt
On there and Scott asked him. He said, hey, people
are speculating saying this year's team is better than last
year's team as far as the Buckeyes go.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
And Travion was just smiling. I don't know if you
saw that LOGI, but it was.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
It was really really cool to watch him just kind
of riley smile and almost give political type answers. But
he just said, yeah, you know, they're they're obviously really good.
And I'm paraphrasing, I don't have the exact quote in
front of me. But I thought it was interesting that
they brought that up. And it's so cool to see
these Buckeyes just you know, they're just smattered all over
(06:50):
the NFL and making all kinds of He is so Travion.
Just on a side note, man, when he pulls away,
when you watch footage of him and he breaks one,
it's unbelieve how fast he is. And I'm so happy
that he came from you know, it came from here
or whatever.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
But it was pretty interesting seeing that. I thought it
was really cool.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Yeah, I thought it was too And I'll tell you
what it's you know, watching him and Quinnshaw Judkins a
year ago and their success at Ohio State really has
been one of the reasons why people have continued to
question our running game this year because it hasn't measured
up to the explosive plays. Like you talked about him
pulling away from everybody. We had a run like that
(07:32):
at the beginning of the Purdue game, but called back
for a block in the back. You know, if Trayveon's
asked the question that this team might be better than
last year's team, all he has to do is show
the ring. They've got the National Championship ring. This team
has accomplished nothing so far, using Ryan Day's words, and
until they do, last year's team is better than this
(07:55):
year's team because they have a ring.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
That blog in the back I would have because at
the TV so hard had it been anybody but Jeremiah Smith,
I mean, you know, he does so much beautifully. That
was and it wasn't much of a block in the
back quite frankly, but you know, I was so happy
to see Jackson. But that got me to thinking, well,
we went into the season and began here we are
three games from the end. Bo Jackson was like number
(08:18):
four on the depth chart. Where's People's where's Donalds? So
we're not hearing very much out of them as somebody
doesn't have to be Jackson. I just want to see
somebody break loose and bring that trevy on boat of
lightning to the field.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Yeah. I think we're all waiting for that, chuck, and
and it's really been a foreheaded monster all season long.
And I think Bo Jackson has clearly made himself RB one,
so he's the dude and the other guys are used
in other situations. And I think with the length of
the season being what it's probably going to be for
this football team. Having three or four backs over there
(08:54):
to remain fresh legs is one of the things that
I think will benefit Ohio State down the road. So
I'm not too worried about you know, who it's going
to be or what the situations are. And let me
tell you what, this kid, Bo Jackson can hit the
home run, so it's just a matter of time before
we see some really more special moments out of this kid.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Is there a the I mean going into it here?
Is there a real defense or run defense from UCLA?
Because I don't pay attention to those West Coast teams
a bunch of pretty boys. Do they have much of
a run defense or do we stand a chance of
maybe making a mark tomorrow?
Speaker 4 (09:30):
Well, how do you spell suck? Yeah, L I think
it's really interesting that they rank from a scoring defense
standpoint one hundred and eleventh in the country in scoring defense,
so they've given up a lot of points and their
(09:51):
run defense is atrocious. So you know, they're decent against
the past, they're not very good against the run. And
if the weather becomes part of the factor in Ohio
State wants to exploit the run a little bit. I
think it could be a big night for Ohio State
running the football. So you know, it'll be really interesting.
You know the game last week. I want to share
one thing with you that I think is really interesting
(10:14):
is that you know, Carnal Tate, they determine it at
game time, is not going to play. Obviously, Perdue noticed
that right away too. So what do you do when
you put everybody on number four? Because now he's the threat.
And even though he was double and triple teamed sometimes,
they targeted Jeremiah Smith ten times and he caught ten passes.
(10:38):
So even even with all those attempts that Purdue was
going through and Carneal Tate out of the game, they
were still able to effectively get the ball to Jeremiah.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Yeah, only four interceptions so far this year, eighty one
percent completion, twenty four touchdowns so far.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
I believe I've got all that right.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
With Julian saying and he's in the Heisman conversation, I mean,
do you what do you think about that? And I
know maybe that's the kiss of death if these guys
start thinking about this kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
I feel like Julian is is a different level. He's above.
I think we've watched this being demonstrated.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
He's a guy that won't lose it for you, and
he's a guy who can continue to help us weekend
week out.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
You know, steady Eddy, if we hear, if we if
we will and then also here and.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
There, you know, dropping dimes as the kids say, LOGI yeah, no.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
Doubt about it. And you know, I think the kid
is proud. The team is proud that his name is
being considered because you know, he's one of the least
fact quarterbacks in all of America. That means the offensive
line is doing a terrific job, So everybody is really
proud of this. Here's the way I think this whole
Heisman thing is going to go. Guys, right now, I
think it's down to two guys. I think it's down
(11:50):
to Julian Saym and Fernando Mendoza, who is the quarterback
in Indiana. Based on what I'm projecting, these two guys
will face one another in the Big Ten championship game
in Indianapolis, probably both teams undefeated going against each other.
And my opinion is the team that wins that game
(12:10):
is going to have the best quarterback in that game,
and that will determine who's going to win the Heisman Trophy.
Because that game is played on December the sixth. The
Heisman Trophy vote deadline is December the eighth, So I
think a lot of people are going to be holding
onto those ballots, if you will, for the Heisman Trophy.
And what that means is for Julian Sayan to be
able to be in the hunt come the Big Ten
(12:31):
Championship game, we have to win that game in ann
Arbor at the end of the year. And if we're
going to win the game in ann Arbor, Julian Sayan's
got to be really, really good. So if he does
all those things right, it's coming down to a showtime
between those two quarterbacks and who's going to take home
that Heisman Trophy.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Well, it's been a little while.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
That's I can't I don't even off the top of
your head, when was the last and I'm sorry to
put you on the spot, the last Troy Troy?
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Okay, yeah, Troy was our last High Trophy winner. We've
had guys in New York multiple occasions since that time,
but nobody's walked away with the statue. And hopefully we'll
be able to bring one this year, and I think
Julian Sayan is certainly deserving. But there's a whole lot
more work to be done.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
All right, what do you guys got going tomorrow? I
know you'll be on the air doing pre game and
all of that with best Buckeye coverage LOGI.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
We'll be down at the point on Lane Avenue from
four until seven thirty kickoff and Matt McCoy, myself, Bill Connley,
and Roy Hall will be there and we're excited, by
the way. We're gonna have a special guest with us
around four twenty five tomorrow, the friend Todd Blackledge, who
is the former NFL quarterback, quarterback at Penn State and
(13:44):
quarterback at North Campton Hoover. We'll be calling the game
for the television network and Todd is going to come
on with us and we're going to talk a little
Ohio State and maybe get some explanation of his thoughts
on what's going on over it.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
Not so happy Valley, all right, good man, we've got
so much going on.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Do you like them covering the thirty one and a
half LOGI?
Speaker 4 (14:07):
I do, Even though the weather may may pose an issue.
I think this is a team that is on fire
right now, and I think coming back home after all
those road games, they want to shine and they want
to plug at night. The recruits are going to be there,
the fans are going to be crazy. Let's put up
fifty on the UCLA Bruins, and you know, maybe they
(14:27):
get a field goal here or there, but I don't
see them being a threat.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
I love it, man, Jeff Logan, part of our best
Buckeye coverage. We'll be listening. Logi, thanks for jumping on
with us. Have a fantastic weekend.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
All right in go box.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Absolutely
