Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, hang on, I'm uh, I'm dialing Jim Jordan's
number they just gave on that commercial. I want to
call him and thank him for supporting working families. Yeah right,
that's kind of an interesting approach. Uh, but you know
I like it because he's right there. Another guy that
is one hundred percent in lockstep with supporting working families
(00:20):
is one Congressman Troy Balterson, who's joining us now TV.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Welcome to the show. How are you.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
I'm good, Blazer, how you doing. Yeah, I'm gonna call
Jim too. That was a great commercial.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
You're gonna call him and thank him.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Hey, uh, hey, as you call him, Jimmy, Hey, Jimmy,
it's Troy. I just wanted to thank you for supporting
working families.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Can you imagine if like, you know, that'd be great?
He'd be like, go ahead, he'd say, like, are you mental?
You see me? We work out like in the mornings.
You see me. You could have just told me then
really you're calling me?
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yeah, that's great man, that's awesome man.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
So uh yeah, So how's things going?
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Did it Did it look any different in DC when
you went back, Because I know it'd been a little
while since you'd been there.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Yeah, we had gone over a couple of times in
between the Democrats breakdown obviously was shutting our government down.
But it was good to be back with everybody, and
you know, the colleagues, the Republicans, I mean, we feel
really good about where we are, and everyone was very
(01:28):
motivated and pumped up. And look, we're happy for the
American people. We got this thing moving forward, got our
TSA guys, we got our air traffic controllers, all all
the federal workers were back in place, and people, we're
excited that we're back in normal.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
We talked to Senator Housted yesterday at Troy. He was
he was on the show with us as well, and uh,
you know, he was very positive, clearly about everything that's happened,
and the fact that you, you know, you and then him,
and you know, all the conservatives in both houses, you
guys stood firm and the Democrats. Afterwards, you got these
(02:07):
you know, libtards that host all the late night talk
shows taking shots at the Democrats saying, hey, you guys
held out all this time. Forty whatever it was two
days or forty three days, you held out all the time,
and you guys got squat out of all of this.
So you accomplished absolutely nothing by doing this.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
It was all political so on and so forth.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
And I would imagine that's the sentiment around you know
DC as well.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
It is. And look at Democrats, one of their leadership
members said, this is our leverage against American people, and
this is what we have to do to do that.
So yeah, I mean, and you know, I were taps
from there the day we went back over the vote,
and I'm just look, I'm glad, I look forward. We're
going to go back Monday. We're going to be there
on next Friday. Now we can get you know, Donald
(02:56):
Trump to republic An agenda back on again and get
working and and that's what we're going to be focused
on till the end of the.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Year, in in January on the thirtieth. Clearly this is
only going to fund through January thirtieth, So are we
going to we And we asked Senator Houstad about this
yesterday too, And I know you're friends with him and
you talk to him all the time, and we asked
him about this yesterday saying, are we just going to
have a replay of what we just witnessed? Are the
(03:23):
Democrats are going to stomp and hold their breath till
their face turns blue and try to go you're going
to fund all of these stupid things that we want
you to fund, or we're going to take our ball
and go home.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Kind of a thing. I mean, are they going to
try this again in January?
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I don't think they will, Mark, and I don't know
where john was on it, but I think you know, look,
we've got three appropriations passed, so some of the things
you know, there will be funding, you know, during that
time frame. But I feel like Mike Johnson Republican leadership
in the House, we're going to get our appropriation both done.
(03:59):
We want to get him done and we won't go
through this again. We won't put the American people through
this again.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Let me ask you this, do you think mister Johnson
comes out of this diminished or stronger after all of this?
I mean, it's been kind of fiasco for the folks
on the left. But does he Does he come out
any any stronger in his position?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Hi, Chuck, Yeah, I think he does. And Plus, look,
he has not only us, but he has the main
guy behind him, and that's the President. And the President
has stood beside Mike Speaker Johnson through all this, and
he's very appreciative of that. So yeah, I think Mike
stone be very strong, and I think he's in great shape.
(04:46):
And you know, there hasn't been that much The whole
Republican Conference has stuck together, Chuck, and I think that
was really important. You know, we didn't have any outliers
out there going against us or going against what we're
doing right now. So yeah, I think Mike strong to.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
The opposite extreme. Do we need to do anything to
buffer the damage to Schumer? I mean, if it's not him,
then AOC and I, you know, the beast we know
versus the beast we're scared of. I don't know. I'm
just strategically wondering how do you move forward from this
because there's the really, really bad guys are waiting in
(05:23):
the wings.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Yeah, mister Schumer's got some challenges ahead of him. I
think my personal opinion, I think he'll get through the
rest of this Congress, but I think he will have
challenges as we move forward. There's already someone Seth Moulten
is in the House right now and he's going to
run against mister Markley in the Senate, and he has
already said that he will not be supporting mister Schumer.
(05:47):
So and look, Schumer's part of that old guard, right Chuck.
I mean we've talked about that and we lost one,
thankfully this week Nancy Pelosi's retired. Some of that old
guard is starting to go away because the young generation,
the young Progressives, are going to get more focused, They're
going to get harder the you know to deal with,
(06:07):
and I think it's going to be really challenging to
Chuck Schumer.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
You know, Troy, you brought up the you know, the
young progressives are going to get focused, and they're listen that.
I feel like the young Progressives by and large that
there was a referendum on them in this last election,
the last presidential election. It was pretty clear to me
that America overwhelmingly said no, they don't want to go
(06:30):
that direction. Now they will try to cite well Zorn, Mam,
Donnie Zorn, Mom.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
That's New York. It doesn't count.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
New York is not representative of the mainstream America.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
They are a very specific group of people.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
And quite frankly, as far as him getting elected, if
if that would have happened faster, in other words, if
if the election would have happened, you know, he announced
and then boom, he got elected. I got, you know,
used to hearing over you know, several weeks after you know,
was announced that he was running and it looked like
(07:05):
he was gonna end up being the guy. I finally
warmed up to it. At first, you still could have
you still could have fooled me with regard to I go,
there's no way. I don't think America is gonna embrace
somebody who's full communist. They just they're not going to.
And then they did. But that's New York. That's New
York City. It's completely different. And they're saying, you know,
AOC and Bernie and they're positioning themselves with this guy,
(07:29):
and if that really is the young progressives the direction
they're going. I feel really good about twenty eight, I
really do. I As far as the midterms, I'm not
sure exactly how to feel about that. I'll need more
information to try to, you know, figure out a real
solid take on that. But as far as if we're
going to go down the same road that they're trying
(07:51):
to go down, which is, you know, men playing women's
sports and you know all of that DEI stuff and
so on. America already spoke about that, and I feel
like too, by the time we get to another presidential election,
we're going to be hum ding and we're gonna have
interest rates down, We're gonna have inflation down, We're gonna
have gas prices way down. Everything is going to be
(08:13):
rock solid by the time we get to something like that.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
But what's your take on all of that? Do we
lose me? Do we lose Troy?
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Can't?
Speaker 2 (08:28):
There?
Speaker 3 (08:29):
We go? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Uh? Oh, he's Troy. You're cutting out? Are you still there?
Speaker 3 (08:36):
I'm here?
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Yeah, okay, there you are? There you are? Yeah, go ahead? Sorry?
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Sorry, Well you know you were talking about the progressives.
You still got me?
Speaker 2 (08:45):
You got yeah? Yeah, there you are?
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Sorry, Yeah, all right, and I can uh, I'm heading
to Ashokan County. We got work to do there tonight. Hey. No.
And if you just saw the socialists at Won and
I think it was Portland, Oregon last Portland, yep. I
don't know it out west somewhere, but I'm with you
all the way. In twenty twenty eight, the American people,
(09:07):
they're not going to fall for this stuff. New York
is New York. The West Coast is the West Coast.
I think we're going to be good. We feel really
good about where we are in the House and keeping
the House as Republicans. We've got some really good candidates
out there, and we're going to make sure that they
work hard. And we pushed the Republican make America Great agenda.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
All right, I'm sure you saw that Senator Fetterman was
rushed to the hospital he fell yesterday, and we were
talking about this a little bit ago, Troy with regard
to a lot of conservatives reaching out to him via
social media saying, you know, we hope you're okay, and
this and that, and the left can't stand it. I mean,
first of all, they can't stand him anymore because what
(09:56):
he has become is a middle of the road democrat
and with some common sense it injected into it.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
And so as a result with the.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Common sense, he's starting to you know, they're basically accusing
him of turning into a conservative. And we had this
conversation a little bit. Chuck and I were going back
and forth about it last hour. But I don't know
your thoughts on him, but you know, Senator Houstad yesterday
he had reached out. Chuck saw that on social media
and so on, and all other conservatives and the well
wishes with Senator Fetterman and so on. But your thoughts
(10:29):
on him and all of the stuff that he's saying now,
it's like as time has gone on, he's actually gotten smarter.
Now we know he had, you know, a stroke basically,
and he's been going through rehab and so on, but
he's actually gotten smarter. It's almost like it made him
like instilled common sense or made him a little bit
smarter if.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
You will, Well, I think you know, Look, it was
a wake up call to him and a lot of
us will have that in a medical emergency. We rethink
our life and we rethink our thoughts, and we re
evaluate where we are and where we have come from.
So and I think that's what he's done. Look, I
think I think he has done a complete three sixty.
It's shocking. You know, I don't know if you've seen
(11:12):
the piece or if it's out there all the way
yet of Katie Kirk trying to get him to you know, Denouncelie,
Charlie and all that stuff, and he won't do it.
So I'm with him. I hope he heels up, and
I know he will, and I think he's a great guy.
And look, I remember, and I think you and I
talked about it three or four years ago when he
(11:34):
was governor of Pennsylvania. I mean he was an AOC.
I mean he was truly a socialist. And to make
the turn that he has has been wonderful and it's
been fun for me and enjoyable to wash them evolve.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
If we could just stop having anybody who would have
been labeled a conservative or Republican also getting kind of
squirrely on us. And I don't know where MTG is.
I haven't seen anything recently. She's mostly look at me,
look at me kind of thing. She was on the
View recently and and all that. And I know she's
one of your colleagues there in the House. I went,
(12:11):
it's like when we see something like what's going on
with Fetterman, I'm like, yes, and I understand he's in
the Senate and not the House. But at the same time,
I'm going, man, the margins aren't quite razor thin in both.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
But still thin.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Nonetheless with regard to margins, but and and our and
our lead or whatever in that, But I just wish
that we could just keep everybody we got and then
add some people along the way who are seeing the
light or getting smarter about things and seeing maybe their
constituents are going, hey, knock it off with.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
This really really crazy stuff. You guys are coming up with.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Well, I think and and Tom Emmer talked about this
morning on a show that he was on, and and
there's I can't remember the exact number of Blazer, it's
it's either nine or eleven Paris or excuse me, Trump
demcras and Trump districts that actually won that we can win,
and we can get that back to get that march
in to where it is from it you know, it's
(13:08):
a two right now, and get some cushion there to
where it's a six to ten would be really great.
And it's all on us to get the good candidates
and get the right people there and make sure that
they're going to work hard for their constituents and the
districts that they're going to represent.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Hey, did you fly out?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
You flew out yesterday or you flew back to Ohio yesterday?
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Is that right, Blazer? You'd be so proud of me.
I actually drove out Tuesday morning, drove back, got up
yesterday morning, bright and early after we made the vote,
and drove home yesterday.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
What is that like six hours ish?
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Yeah, it took me about five hours and fifteen five
and a.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Half okay, yeah, okay for.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Sixty now, so I got to make a couple stops, so.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
You know, you know, they make the people ask me
if I need to stop, and I go, if you
know what I'm saying. So no, the reason I brought
it up was I didn't know, and you had no
problem hopefully driving in. But that kind of blows what
(14:11):
I was going to ask you with regard to you know,
the flying and the you.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Know, everything going on with it.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
We got to get everything back up and running full
strength with all the air traffic controllers and so on.
We're seeing all that with the airlines and whatnot. But
I know Congressman Jordan was supposed to be on with
us earlier this week on Monday, and he was stuck
on a tarmac and had to reschedule. He was sitting
there at like five o'clock when he's typically on with us,
(14:38):
so he unfortunately was dealing with it.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
You probably heard some stories.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
I'm guessing in your colleagues talking about flying and did
you hear any craziness that was happening with them?
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Yeah, no, one of my fellow colleagues settle with tarmac
for two and a half hours. That was probably the
worst situation. But you know, for the most part, it
went pretty smoothly. There were a couple of bumps, but
you know, I have a couple of friends that are
in the tower there at Columbus and we talked to them,
(15:10):
talked to him actually one. But you know, Columbus was
doing really well. The airport there, the management there, Joe
and and then and his team were operating pretty smoothly there.
DCA gets really crowded, so I think there are challenges there,
but overall, I think everything's starting to get back to normal.
And it felt like once people knew that it was
(15:33):
going to end, when the when the Senate, when the
you know, the the common sense Democrats and the Senate
that came over, I think everyone knew that we want
to get through this, and uh, everybody started coming back.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Yeah, very good man.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
We are We are hoping slowly but surely that it'll
it'll get back to somewhat normal. Now that the government
is reopen and and all of that. Congressman Troy Balderson,
thanks for jumping on with us. He represents it's the
twelfth congressional district here in the state of Ohio. Troy,
thank you so much and we'll talk to you again soon.
Safe travels, brother, appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Guys, have a good weekends.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Thank you, Thanks man, you too, Go Bocks.
