I saw some of the best of Colorado this morning.
I had early court up in glen Wood Springs. Drive
(00:21):
up there this morning back after court, and it was
just absolutely gorgeous, pristine across the rockies. Obviously sure they
were wishing for a ton of snow up there. We
may not get any down here this winter in the
front range, but what a pretty day. Three our three
seven one three eight two five five takes d an
five seven seven three nine. I mentioned that last night
(00:42):
I met one of the most impressive people I've ever
met in my life, and I'm sure you know it
from your own life. There are times when you meet
somebody and just instantly you know, hey, hey, that light
shines bright right, and that some people are just a
force in nature. And that person for me last night
was Father Mike Schmidt, sees, an incredibly effective Catholic priest.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
To his enormous social.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Media following does Bible in a year, Catechism in a year, etc.
And it was a real honor to be able to
spend a minute with.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Him last night.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
He has a big he's speaking tonight at a big
fundraiser for Seats of Hope, a tremendous charity that each
and every year they do this amazing work and they
send just way over a thousand kids, over fifteen hundred kids,
lower income kids to Catholic schools, so they give them
scholarships to Catholic schools. It's life changing stuff, beautiful things.
(01:35):
So Father Michael speak to a very very large sell
out crowd tonight, so look forward to being there.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Also.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
We've got a lot of different topics rolling this afternoon.
I don't want to burn the segment laying them all out,
but call on anything you feel like. Somehow we got
off on bumper stickers and why did they just suddenly stop?
You almost never see any anywhere. I asked Ran what
his last bumper sticker was and it was Trump Pence
in sixteen. Brian and Arvada, you're on the Dan Caplis.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
You'll welcome great guys.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yeah, it's actually Joe no Biggie, Yeah, if you put
him on, you put small ones on glass. I have
a topper on my truck and I don't have two.
I have my anti rad life membership.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Can I have one?
Speaker 3 (02:19):
You're a Yellowstone guy? Correct?
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Oh yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Love that show, so I have. It's a silhouette of
a rip and he says, need a ride to the
train station. And I've actually had several people stop like
talk and they're like, where did you get that from?
Speaker 5 (02:35):
Him?
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Like where everything comes from?
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Amazon?
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Man Man Dad is awesome, And now he's gonna have
his own spin.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Off, right yeah him and what's the Girl?
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah yeah, yeah, right, yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
It's coming out soon. But I tell you the show
that's thought the only other one that's kind of captivated.
I'm waiting for the season two of that land Man.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
That's a really good series.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yes, yeah, yeah, as well worth watching just quickly. So
he's basically a troubleshooter for the oil company and stuff
really about I think yeah, yeah, I think it was
the second episode he was taking this lawyer around for
there was some sort of an issue and she was
(03:18):
like a real greeny and stuff, and he just went
off on this big tangent, a positive one about how
oil you know is everything you know? He just goes
off on your bags and you know you're inside your
house and.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
And I guess because of that, all kinds of lefties
just lost their minds, including some I guess some news
writers wrote a bottom and stuff some anyways, But one
other thing, since Ryan's from Michigan, I get a lot
of texts Michigan related.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
From the front past.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
November tenth, someone said, well, it's the fiftieth anniversary of
the thinking of the Ellen.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Yeah, it's terrible.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Yeah, that's that's terrible.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
More importantly, it's the two hundred.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
And fiftieth anniversary of the birth of the usm SEA.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Oh yeah, they came in to have my friend thank you,
And just talking to my friend in law partner, John
Keller about John a proud Marine rein.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Are you Yellowstone guy big lely? Yes? Love that show.
Speaker 6 (04:19):
I love the fact, just in my view that you
have Beth who I would definitely get Sword to be
an alpha female the character and Rip an alpha male,
and somehow it works that both alphas and yet they
make each other strong. It's a fascinating dynamic. Real quick
point that Joe made the Michigan connection on the sinking
of the edmun Fitzgerald. You were not here for your
own show, but last night I had John you Bake
(04:43):
and a prolific writer from my home state of Michigan,
and he dedicated a lot of time, resources effort into
researching the sinking of the Edmonn Fitzgerald. He's now written
a New York Times bestseller on that cataclysmic event. He
talked to the family members, and we had that interview
for our listeners last night at about five thirty six.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Well, you should have just played the Gordon Lightfoot song
because that was Oh you did part of that was that.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Was just such a you know, that was the intro
to this such a great song.
Speaker 7 (05:09):
Yea.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
And President Trump today saying Democrats be careful what you
wish for, right, because they're trying to distract from their
their shutdown travesty by shifting to Epstein.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Now, but they got two big problems there.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
One is, every honest American knows Trump doesn't have any
nefarious connection Epstein, or we wouldn't known a long time ago.
Plus it's just not who Trump is. But the other
is that a lot of Democrats probably have So President
Trump announced this today, and I want to ask you
who do you want to see specifically investigated.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
I'll tell you who I want to see investigated at
the end of this.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
But Trump says now that the Democrats are using the
Epstein hoax involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try and deflect
from their disasters, shutdown, and all of their other failures.
I will be asking Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Department
of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI,
to investigate Jeffrey Epstein's involvement in relationship with Bill Clinton,
(06:07):
Larry Summers, Reed Hoffman, JP Morgan, Chase, and many other
people and institutions to determine what was going on with
them and him. This is another Russia Russia Russia scam
with all arrows pointing toward the Democrats. Records show that
these men and many others spent large portions of their
life with Epstein and on his quote island stay tuned
(06:29):
three exclamation points.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
So how do you feel about that?
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Three O three seven one three eight two five five
the number text DN five seven seven three nine. Who
else do you want to see investigated? I'll tell you
who I want to see investigated. I want to see anybody,
anybody who has an impact on public life, public policy,
anybody from politics, any prominent individual who has any kind
(06:56):
of impact on public life, who there is very solid,
evidentiary basis to believe has been involved in a nefarious
way with Epstein. I want to see them fully investigated
and that fully disclosed. I want to see anybody who
has had any involvement with or support for Epstein's and
(07:18):
it was a mass rape of women. I do not
know beyond Epstein and Glene Maxwell who was involved in that,
but I want to see a full investigation in reporting
of that. What I don't want to see is innocent
people people who had business dealings with Epstein but there's
no proof that they knew of his illegal behavior or
(07:38):
were involved in it or supporting it, or anything like that.
I don't want to see those people ruined if they
didn't do anything wrong. So that's that's the challenge here,
right when it comes to getting the full investigation done
and out three three seven, one three eight two five
five the number text d an five seven seven three nine,
How and when Ryan do you think this all ends?
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Well? I'm so used to being disappointed. Dan. When Republicans
are in power and we get these you know, long.
Speaker 6 (08:09):
Pontificating speeches from like James Comer, you know in the
Biden Pole. Whatever came of that, well nothing, you know,
And maybe it's just for political points and it moves
the needle that way, But there's no real ramifications to
the actions of the left, and they are left unfettered
to weaponize the Department of Justice, as we saw against
Donald Trump and against Catholics in the United States, against
(08:30):
parents at school board meetings. They run willy nilly in
rough shot over everybody. But when Republicans are in power
and a very just cause and case like this one,
we see very little action and anything that's actionabull and
we see no results from it. So I guess I'm
in believe it when I see it mode.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, I'm the Epstein thing.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
I think this is all a big distraction now from
the dems failures, and I think it ultimately it doesn't
go anywhere meaningful. Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe I'm wrong. I
hope I'm wrong about that. On the other point, we
do not have time before this break. But Ryan, I
agree one thousand percent, and it's been a major point
of mine for years on air about the absolutely obscene, immoral, dishonest, illegal,
(09:14):
destructive lawfair that the Left was waging in all those
different ways against Donald Trump and others. A direct threat
to the very foundation of this country, and I believe,
as I predicted it would be. It was a big
reason the Democrats lost Bigley and Donald Trump won big
Now what concerns me is I'm on record as saying
(09:39):
Donald Trump is one of the greatest presidents in our history.
But there is no question that he is waging lawfare now,
and in my mind, even though the targets are people
who've done horrific things, evil things to Donald Trump and
to this nation.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
You know, James Comey, T Show, James etc. People have done.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Terrible, terrible things. I don't want this administration waging lawfair
when there are politically motivated prosecutions. That hurts this country
and sends a terrible president. I also think it's hurting
this president's popularity. He's doing a lot of historically great things,
but Americans don't want lawfair. That that's one reason they
(10:24):
voted the Democrats out and Trump won. Americans don't want
lawfair from Trump and I wish he would move off
of that. That's bad in every way. You're on the
Dan Kapla Show.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
And now back to the Dan Kapla Show podcast.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Why is it the most of the really great TV
shows have this tremendous theme music or does it just
seem like tremendous theme music because you really like the
show that's from yellowstoneare I think that.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Is just very good music. Oh yeah, sober.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Just a little heads up to those who maybe haven't
watched Yellowstone yet and are thinking of tuning in. I
think it's just a tremendously written and produced and shot show.
But there's a lot of stuff you probably wouldn't want
to watch with your kids. And you know, I'm no prude,
but there's there's plenty of rough stuff.
Speaker 6 (11:24):
It's definitely an R rated show for the most part.
I would say, yeah, language two.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Yeah. And then obviously there are different shades of our
right way to put it, and this is a this
is a more intense shade of our on I think
both the sex and violence of them. Because on the
on the sex side, okay, you can have somebody show
some body parts, right, but then you can have somebody
show some body parts, and then you can have surrounding
(11:50):
dialogue and situations that just I think could make it
much more negative for kids. Same thing with the violence piece.
Somebody okay, somebody gets shot in the head. But then
the way Yellowstones violence plays out, because the show is
so well written and shot and acted, it can just
I think for a younger viewer or a more sensitive viewer.
(12:14):
It's the kind of violence that you know, might be
tough to get out of your head. What are the
other great TV shows on right now? See, I have
not had time to watch a whole lot of TV.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Ted once that starts back up, Yeah, what season are
they in now? Three? Four three? I think? And I'd
love you know what I really need from people.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
And this is just selfish, but if you're on this
TV thing, i'd love your taking that also.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
But because my wife and I were talking the other
night about how we need a TV show, land Man
been gearing up for years.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
For this big trial we just had, and for the
last year year and a half watch very little TV.
But now we want to have our show back. And
what should that show be?
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Land Man Billy Bob Thornton, Well, he is a good actor.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
Bot the oil industry, and there's one perfect scene I
think you actually requested that I pull it a couple
of months ago where he explains why the whole notion
of windmills and this alternative energy is actually prohibitive when
it comes to saving the environment.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yeah, yeah, I know that that. Yeah, it's a great show.
Such a good actor. He's good, Such a good actor.
Got Tulsa King with Sylvester Stallone, who's one of us,
of course. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
And another show my wife had me watch and it's
really well done and everything else, I'm not sure I'm
going to watch it long term is The Diplomat with
Carrie Russell from Highland's Ranch. Yeah, and that's about a
very hard edged, brilliant, obviously female US diplomat who's then
(13:48):
in line to become vice president replace the existing vice president.
It's interesting plot lines and everything else. But selfishly, the
thing I'd really appreciate some help with is I just
need to find it great pizza, Truly, I'm spoiled, right
because I grew up in Chicago and we had Palermo's
and sixty Third and Cadzie, And he just said some
(14:08):
of those great Chicago pizzas, and part of it is
just the ingredients back there, and you can just you
got the stockyards there, you got this. You can get
higher quality ingredients for less money.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Oh you can order Lumil Natties. Have that shipped here?
Oh really? Yeah, I've got to try that out online.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Had some Palermo shipped a couple of times and it
didn't work out, just because they don't do it routinely.
But but yeah, So just looking for a great well
pizza somewhere in the front range or in the mountains.
Speaker 6 (14:36):
I've never had better Italian sausage on my pizza than
Lumlo Natties.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Top of the line. Well that's my thing, the line
double sausage. Have you tried the Detroit style pizzas? So
you guys us Detroit style? They shoot you? Oh fun,
whoever delivers it shoots you. That's a that's a good
one and only but a goody. But no, you got
blick Chan around here only once.
Speaker 6 (14:57):
The new one via three one three is not far
from where you and I live down on the south side,
and it's rectangular pizza. It's got kind of like cheese
on the crust edges that's just slightly burned. So it's
got that flavor to it, and then the toppings got
the cup pepperoni, that kind, you know, the old traditional kind,
(15:17):
and the regular pepperoni underneath the cheese.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
It's just it's it's kind of the thing now, Detroit
style pizza everywhere fluting here in Denver. I'll have to
check it out.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
But yeah, if anybody knows of a truly great place, now,
Frank the pizza.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
King has gone. Unfortunately, that was just tremendous pizza. I
thought that there was a story you were talking to them.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Oh yeah, we talked to my area because they'd lost
their lease after one hundred and fifty years or something.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
I didn't know that was the resolution. That's terrible. I
know that Frank So was our go to. Oh man, No.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
It's Anthony's, which is good pizza. I've got no beef
with Anthony's. Actually double sausage every time. But I'm looking
for I'm looking for that great pizza where I remember
it as a little kid from Chicago. You know, it
comes out of the oven. The bottom's kind of burned.
Oh yeah, and maybe burns the wrong word. You find
it has that stuff on the bottom and yeah, so
(16:12):
and it's it's never tick to everybody on Deep Dish Chicago.
Yeah they did that, no due thing. But the real
pizza is either sin or medium crust. And because the
focus is on it's on the sauce and it's on
the it's on the ingredients.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
I was like, extra sauce. That's me. Yeah, I just
need to just.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Need a great feat So I don't care if it's
in the mountains, front range wherever. So if you have
thoughts on that, three or three seven one, three eight two.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
I feel about Bojo's. That's kind of the big deal.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Like Bojos, I mean it to me, it wouldn't be
like that Chicago pizza you could eat every night, sometimes
twice a day.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
But yeah, yeah, I know what you're talking about. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Yeah, When Carolina and I made our big trip to
Chicago to see Taylor Swift, we you know, we went
all the way back in US.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Outside sixty third keds. He go to palermos. Ah, that's
so good. And then she believed me. Then she believed me.
So seeing is believed, Tasting is believe.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Tasting is believing. To me, Hey, when we come back,
help me with this mystery. Michelle Obama as the world
by the tale she can be the demnominee if she
wants to. She sells out Arenas everything else, and then
she goes on what I consider to be this inexplicable
kick today, complaining that people are trying to force women
(17:27):
of color to straighten their hair?
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Is this an issue there? Missing? Is this happening out there?
Speaker 1 (17:32):
What's We'll play the sound and then what I'd really
like to know is why do you think she's off
on this kick? And yeah, we're also we're talking about
the latest on the Epstein front, president turning tables on
the Democrats.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
And I was wrong about something yesterday.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
When somebody asked me what's next on Epstein with the Republicans?
And I want to tell you about the clarity I
achieved late last night, not how I achieved it, but
what I achieved.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
And now back to the Dan Tablas Show podcast that
it's a gift you do not forget.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
So I'm just selfishly trying to find the best pizza
in Colorado. Frank's the Pizza King was my go to.
It's now closed and the others are just fine. But
it's not like growing up in Chicago. So we'll take
some calls and text on that. Let's start up in
beautiful Windsor, Colorado with Ryan. You're on the Dan Capsla Show.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Welcome, say Dan, Ryan.
Speaker 7 (18:33):
So I grew up in New York, so I'm kind
of a pizza snob myself, right sure, and I've sought
out the best pizza in Colorado and recently a new
place moved into Loveland and it's called Slice House.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Slice House. Okay, I'm looking it up right now.
Speaker 7 (18:56):
Fantastic, I'm looking it up right now.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Hold on, I want to see the pictures and sometimes
the pictures don't capture it online. But so you're talking
about kind of medium crust.
Speaker 7 (19:08):
So they're going to carry Sicilian style, New York style,
Detroit style, Oh wow. And then they have a few
other styles.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Oh so that's their thing is they can give you
all these different styles.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Correct, And that's.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
A talented that's a talented chef right there. But hey,
thanks man, appreciate the call. Slice House. If anybody knows
whatever happened in Nick and Vetos, which was this amazing
pizza place on the South side of Chicago. I actually
went to kindergarten with Vetos kid, But I don't know
(19:40):
whatever happened to it. That's just some of the best
pizza in the world. David Strasburg, you're on the Dan
Kaplis Show.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
Welcome, Hey, good afternoon.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Hey man. What do you like.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Grammy's Goodies on Harlan Street right by Lakeside, the old Lakeside.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Yeah, how long has it been?
Speaker 4 (19:59):
Aroun They've been around for a while. They were on
the Diners drive ins and dives a couple of times. Wow, okay,
and excellent food. Go there and they have large portions,
decent prices, and probably the best bakery in the city.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Okay, man, appreciate it to cal I'm looking at them
online right now. Looks like one of those all purpose
kind of places, and they certainly have some pizza that
looks good. Texter says Roman Villa Colorado springs sausage combination
with mushrooms. Young been in business since the fifties. See
to me, that's huge. That's huge because the longer you've
(20:39):
been in business, you got to be good or you
wouldn't be able to stay in business. Got another one
that says, Jets in Littleton? Have you been there, Ryan,
Jets in Littleton? I have not been. We're out south here,
so that would be easy for me to get to
Jets Pizza.
Speaker 6 (20:57):
Now that's Detroit style, oh is it? Yeah, but that's
kind of like a I don't know how yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's like so we have for some reason Detroit and
I know, you got New York guy that just call
it in yourself Chicago, all due respect, but Detroit is
the home of a lot of the mass produced pizza
places like Domino's, Hungry Howie's, Jets, Little Caesars, they all
(21:18):
regent originated in Michigan. I don't know, it's just for
some reason to metro Detroit. We had a lot of immigrants,
like Italians and Greeks, and they, you know, michaelich started
up the business with Little Caesar's and Tom Monahan started
up Domino's and they.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Just blew up Great casts. Tom Money, yes, he is
great casts. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
And in fact, I'm going to be leaving from here
and going to this huge fundraiser tonight for Seats of
Hope that sends disadvantaged kids to Catholic schools Pacer tuition.
Father Mike Schmiz is the guest speaker tonight, and I
was able to spend a brief minute with him last night.
And what a force of nature. Just a true genius
and very cool guy. So that'll be great fundraiser tonight.
(22:00):
But as you make the point Ryan about immigrants, Yeah,
that's that's a big key I think to these great
pizzas because the greatest piece I've ever had Palermo's in Chicago,
big Italian family, and my wife and I, just after
we got married, we asked mister Palermo and his wife
to come out here and to talk to us about
(22:21):
opening one up here. And we drove all around together.
We drove to Boulder, we scouted locations in Denver and
everything else, and then he figured out that that he
couldn't make the same quality pizza he did back in
Chicago for a price that folks could afford because back
in Chicago the quality ingredients are cheaper. But the other
(22:41):
big thing is that there's so much family working in
the restaurant that you're overheads lower. And if you don't
have all that family working in the restaurant, then it's
really hard to make the same quality pizza and sell
it for that price. Let's go to Tim and our
ata here on the Dan Kapla show.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Hate Tim.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
Hey Dan, it's Tim from Ada.
Speaker 5 (23:05):
Wonderful also from south side. Oh really, Nick and Betos
is still there is a god every time I go
out to Chicago, that's where we stop.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
No, no, where is it? Is it still off Pulaski?
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Yeah no, yeah, holy cow, I'm I'm going tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
But is it still the real deal?
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Is it still the family or is it some some
yuppies who boughty?
Speaker 4 (23:31):
Oh it's the It's the real deal, man.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
So kind of uh, well say well done on the bottom.
You get kind of that that.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Oven dust on the bottom.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Oh isn't that great?
Speaker 7 (23:46):
Cancer?
Speaker 4 (23:46):
Everything is just wonderful.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Oh yeah what uh yeah.
Speaker 5 (23:50):
Out here Jamono's is the guys from the North side.
So there's one of the to eighty seven at Highway
seven and then there's one over by Swedish Hospital.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Best Chicago didn't crush ever.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Yeah, I have had gimano. Thanks reminding me, and it
is very good. But Tim, you've made my day. I'm
wondering when's the last time you were in Nick and Vetos.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
I went out to Chicago to two years ago for
thank you.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
I'm just wondering. I'm wondering if my old buddy from kindergarten.
I haven't seen him since kindergarten, but I went to
kindergarten with Vito's kid. I wonder if he's running the
place now. So I got to get out there and
find out.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Yeah, you gotta dude, it's it's zero.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
It's great, man.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Man, honestly, I can picture it right now and it
was a long time ago. Thank you, Tim, You've made
my day. Appreciate that. Let's go to Dylan and Denver
here on the Dame Kapla Show, Too many D's how
you doing?
Speaker 2 (24:45):
My friend?
Speaker 8 (24:46):
Hey, not that I was gonna say. Palmadoro is a
really really good restaurant, really good pizza and the garlic
knots are to die for.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
No, my friend, what's a garlic?
Speaker 7 (25:01):
I don't know, you know, it's you know, like.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Like, oh yeah, you're just talking about bread.
Speaker 8 (25:11):
Yeah, yeah, bread. You know, it's got the garlic and everything.
But I mean, they're they're pizzas are are great.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
The Uh.
Speaker 8 (25:21):
The other thing I was gonna say is that definitely
Second Grammy's Goodies. They do have some really really good.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Food and they've been around long time.
Speaker 8 (25:29):
The guys said, uh, yeah, I think they've been around
for a while, and like you said, they're on that
that show or whatever, which you know it's made them
pretty popular, but you know they're I mean, you know,
it's a family run business and it is really good.
But you know the same thing with Palmadoro. Yeah, they're
in South Denver off of like Parker Road, and uh,
(25:50):
it's like lead Sale and.
Speaker 7 (25:55):
Monaco.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Well, appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Appreciate that, man, Thank you for that. You have a
great weekend. I want to try to get everybody in
here a text or Dan. I hate to break it
to you, but there's a reason why Colorado is not
known for pizza like Chicago and New York. Colorado just
doesn't do great pizza. Again, when we brought mister Palermo
out here to talk about opening one here, you know,
his biggest challenge was the ingredients, getting the high quality
(26:20):
ingredients at a price that could be sold.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Now.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
I don't know if this came from mister Palermo, who
unfortunately was hit by a car and killed shortly after
he returned home from our visit. God rest his soul,
but it but somebody told me there's an issue with
the altitude and maybe getting.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
The corober just right like Chicago.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
I'm not sure I can explain it to you since
about the only thing I bake is my toast each morning,
and I don't even think that's baking.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Zio three you said one three eight, two five five
text d An five seven seventeen nine. We are in
search of two important things today. It's the perfect pizza
Indo and the best TV show.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
You're on the Dankpla Show and now back to the
Dan Kapla Show podcast.
Speaker 6 (27:13):
There are candidates we talked about earlier, but those du
just tuning in and got John Caldera, He's done Monday
and next Monday. Then you got Deborah Flora Tuesday Wednesday
this week. Then you had great Leland Conway was Thursday
Friday this week. I'll be Tuesday Wednesday next week. And
Jimmy Sangenberger will be Thursday Friday next week. And I
believe it's safe to say those are the candidates.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
By lots of talent. There.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Man make a humble suggestion. We all means not that
I'm a program director.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
Oh Man, take more than one of them.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
I just I really enjoyed those shows where there are
multiple people, multiple.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
Boys, A good idea Dan, especially for a four hour show,
four hour show.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Six to ten, that's like Gilligan's Island.
Speaker 6 (27:58):
Yes, yeah, well, you know how you and I have
this dynamic in the afternoon two to four bing bang boom,
Dan Caplis's pregame show getting into Dan Kaplis and it's
fast moving right.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Why is that?
Speaker 6 (28:10):
It's because you and I have that you know, kind
of back and forth chemistry, YadA YadA.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
In the morning.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
I think I don't know how the Michael Brown did it,
you know, for four hours solow So and he didn't
take calls.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Yeah, Craig and I used to do four hours together
for the first three years of the show. Yeah, but
I just I like those shows. And I think when
you get you know, really smart, interesting people, and everybody
you mentioned is that and more, and you put them together,
then you've got people playing off each other. They can
challenge each other, they can set each other up, they
can add to each other.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
I just think compared to when I started in radio,
it must be like thirty years ago. Everything's so much
faster pace now, and it's.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Got to be right.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
That's just how we're all wired. You know, phones have
wired us that way, electron et cetera. Everything's faster paced,
and I just think it's it's faster paced with multiple people.
So if you pass that along, I'm sure they'll do
the opposite. Wisely, Dan and Aurora, you're on the Dame Kaplish,
you'll welcome.
Speaker 4 (29:17):
Thank you say for pizza? Yes, Jim Gallo supper Club
at thirty four seventy South Broadway. The owner is from Sicily. Wow,
and he's got six million calories in his dessert case,
which is awesome.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
I'm looking it up right now, Gallows, so not like
the Gallows. It's g Alo supper club and he is
from Sicily.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Right is a Sicilian? Okay, I'm looking it up. How
would you describe the pizza?
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Well, you know, it's all subjective and I.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Mean, like Sin, I should have asked you a better question, Sin,
thick medium.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Kind of a medium okay okay.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
And you know how you can tell great pizza places,
they often do it a little bit more well done.
I mean that's just personal taste. Hey, thank you for that.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
Man.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
I love the fact he's right from Sicily. I think
that is absolutely huge. We went to this place, you know,
when we went back we went back to Italy with
the kids for their confirmation, which is a big sacrament
in the Catholic Church, and then we took a trip
down to Palermo and we went to a pizza place there.
Am I thinking of the right place? I don't know,
(30:32):
let me think.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Pizza is very different in Italy though, Dan, as, I'm
sure you found out. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. And we
had to wait.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
I mean literally, you know, you take a ticket for
this pizza place, and we were like number one hundred
and three, so you had to wait a few hours
to get you But but you get in there, and
you got the impression that maybe there was some organized
crime involvement in the place.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
But we waited. It was worth it.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
But the funny thing was afterward we were all like
knocked out, like with a hammer. We were dead out
for about fifteen or twenty minutes, just sleeping it off.
And I always wondered whether they put a little something
in there.
Speaker 6 (31:09):
Oh yeah, interesting, Yeah, I tell you, I might explain
the one hundred plus people in line this slice house. Again,
we're just making our own comments here. They're not paying
us for anything. It looks legit, though, Dan, it doesn't
been Loveland. Now it's a ways for us. Yeah, but
if you're ever in Loveland, this looks I'm ever. I mean,
I'm just traveling all the time, right my job. But
(31:31):
I'm looking at the Detroit style that looks legit. You
got the New York style. They got the cup pepperoni.
You know, that's the really good stuff. The Sicilian style
looks good.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
Yeah, No, I'm in search of truly because once you
find that, that's.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
A pillar of your life. Right there. I agree.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Wow, what a week coming up next week. Sheriff Steve
Breems in the house Monday. No, he is he in
for you or with you for all our boys. And
his team's in the finals of the the moot court
competition for his law school and so that's a great,
great honor for him to be part of that.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
So we're going to go back and watch those.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
Finals, okay, And yeah, that's going to be a thrill
Big Bronco game someday.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Yeah, Big Broncos.
Speaker 6 (32:14):
Interesting. So what the Chiefs are five and four? I
think writers whatever, they're going to.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
Throw the record out their road favorites here in Denver. Yeah,
that's a slap in the face.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
Well, I mean they're the champs and it's a game
they've got to win.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
Yeah, and uh yeah, so I.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Just I just think it's going to be a phenomenal game.
The key is whether they just let Bob Bo and
just let both play, and if they do.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Got to take the training wheels off. That's what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
Well, what I'm saying is, and listen, it's a Hall
of fame coach you have in Denver. But what I'm
saying is you've got to be willing to let athletes
be athletes in play, knowing they're going to be some
mistakes that come from that, but they're going to be
more good things that happen that you know outweigh the mistake.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
And that's Bo Nicks.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Let him be an athlete, let him create, let them
get outside, let them run. And I understand the desire
of a coach to control things. You've got a great defense,
et cetera. But he loves Dan Reeves, who have great
respect for But if Dan Reeves, God rest his soul.
Had just let John always play the other three quarters
of each game. I remember holy Cow number it, Well,
holy Cow, So that'll be fun that big game.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Uh huh, Yeah, Lions and Eagles too. By the way,
that's really in Philly. That's Sunday night football. Okay, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
The Eagles are so unsteady it's hard for me to
get too excited about them.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
But good luck to your Lions. What else you doing
this weekend?
Speaker 6 (33:39):
Kevin Kneeling tonight at Comedy Works South and Trans Siberian
Orchestra tomorrow night at Ballerina.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
I've got a full weekend on tap.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Well, Colorado is such a great place to live. I
was thinking that driving up and back from Glenwood Springs
Court this morning. It's just so beautiful, so much to do,
and then if you're down, just so many different activities.
I mean, we are truly blessed. I'll see Father Mike
Schmitz speak tonight at the Seeds of Hope fundraiser.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Of a great weekend, enjoy it.
