Speaker 1 (00:01):

Thank you so much for having Thank you for coming.
You made the track all the way from New York.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Well from Jersey Jersey. Okay, Jersey Jersey, Jersey girl.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
But you've been like frolicking all over well my Instagram
at least, and also New York City. You go to
n YU as I am at ya shout out because
when we first chatted, which welcome back to the pod,
thank you, it was all virtual because of COVID, which
is crazy. And I think at that time you were
just starting out at n YU.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
Yeah I was so I'm like, it was so young.
But here I am today.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
I am at twenty one.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
No, that was like maybe two three years ago now wow.
And I feel like, I mean, I've always remained the same,
but I feel like there's been so much that's changed
in my life since then.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
And you're growing in your career. Thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
I'm really trying, but yeah, I feel like I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Growing up right before your eyes reach literally as we've
like followed each other on Instagram. Well for everyone that
is just now tuning in the fact that this is
happening is crazy because when Carolyn and I were talking
about having you back in the studio, she was like,
I can't wait to finally meet you, and I was like, babe,
we know each other, and then I was never met,
We've never met in person, so this is like actually
(01:38):
our first in person.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Then we're actually much I love, I know, and it
feels like I've known you forever. You're so You're so nice,
and the studio is amazing. Like I was even thinking
it was like maybe we could hop on a zoom,
but I was like, no, not gonna be a million
times cooler if I we.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Are not adhering to the COVID time. No, we got
to get you in this too. We gotta get in
person these days.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Yeah, No, And I love that. So now we finally
meet in person, and now I feel like I've been
following along with your life and.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Knowing you, like through and through.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
You're a great Instagram follow By the way, for anyone,
anyone that needs to tap on drop.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
The Instagram handle Queen, it's Carolyna Real music. TikTok is
Carolyn Real.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Dude, you okay, you know what TikTok you posted? That
like actually sealed the deal on Like I always knew
you were talented, just based off of our conversations and
seeing and hearing how good you are. But it was
the video you did. It was like COVID chronicles cod
COVID chronicles. But I think you were in your apartment. Shoot.
I don't even remember what song it was, but I
(02:32):
can tell you exactly, like what part of your apartment
you were in that's kind of crazy. Which was the
white one with there was like a door in the background.
I'm pretty sure you were like your kitchen counter and
you were hitting this crazy. Was there like a blue
circle above me? Yes? Wait? And it was the song
the song. I'm very bad at memory, apparently, So it's
just it's okay.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
I do so many like I forget how many videos
I post and how many songs I sing and learn
that like I forget what I've covered.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
So that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Your covers are just absolutely like and covering is like
a scary place to be because if you cover a
harder artist, and like you don't do.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Drag justice you get get drags, but you girl, you
almost do it.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Oh dare I say better?
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Oh my god?
Speaker 4 (03:15):
Stuff?
Speaker 2 (03:15):
No, not even just gassing you.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
I really try. I I mean we could talk about that.
But like I've always been influenced by the bigger divas
of the past generations and current who like I've well
past I've always loved Winney Houston, like Carrie Celine Dion.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
And you know who else looks up to those people? You?
Oh well yeah, but I mean, like I can't throw
it too like that, like the those inspos are what
made Ariana Grande like and I really think you have
powerhouse vocals, like not saying you are like I sometimes
hate when people are like you give me Ariana Grande,
you know what I mean, because like, yes, of course
(03:52):
that's such a compliment, but like you also give Carolina Reale.
You know, like you want your own That's whole point
of being an artist is creating your own sound, your
own individuality and independence.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Right, But what would you say that is for you?
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Like what is your my like individuality, like your brand?
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Like I had to say brand because it's who you are.
But like, what is like your target, what is your
goal for you? What is this sound that you want
to portray to your audience.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Well, I've always been like I it's interesting when I
say it because people are like, what do you mean
by that? But I've always been kind of vocalist first,
like I learned to sing before I learned to write
or record or put any music together. And then it
was after the fact that I started, you know, covering
these big ballads from past times to where I started
(04:42):
incorporating it into original music. And I've always always always
loved ballads, and I think the more and more I
work with a producer. His name is Zach Golden. He's
in Brooklyn, and my co writer's name is Annacline. She's
a close friend of mine, and as we kind of
worked more and more together. We've been working together since
I was like seventeen, crazy wild. I kind of fell
(05:04):
in love with like a cinematic orchestral vibe. So we're
always throwing strings where maybe people normally wouldn't. But I'm
kind of now in the point where I would love
to do some stuff it's a little more be a
little bit more mid tempo even.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
And we're in the works of doing that.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Oh, I can't wait to talk all about it. It
might be soon, Okay.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Okay, I love the little sneak peak teaser.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Well, okay, for everyone that's listening, and that's probably like,
what are we talking about? Because where you and I
are tapping back into a discussion that we probably started.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Back in like twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
So for everyone that's just now learning who you are,
tell us where you came from, how you discover that
you are a singer, because that's just through and through you.
More than a singer you are, you are a performer.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Oh my gosh, thank you. I well, I started when
I was very young. I didn't start singing singing until
I was maybe like thirteen or fourteen, I will say
growing up. I was raised in New Jersey, but growing
up right by Manhattan, it was so nice because there's
so many opportunities there, like local venues, smaller venues, but
(06:13):
well known venues like I remember I used to do
like open mics at like the Bitter End and stuff,
and it all kind of starts there.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
And it's also terrifying, by the way, especially if you're
doing that at what fourteen, Yeah, you're opening yourself at
a bar with a bunch of dolls. Yeah, you're opening
up yourself to a lot of criticism and probably some
drunk booze and yeah, yeah, did you ever get that?
Oh she's like, no, can't relate.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Well, no, I just I when I look bad back,
I'm like I was not that good. Sometimes I'll look
back and I'm like, I was not that good. But
it really is like a growth thing. You're your own
worst critic though, you know, like I am. But then
it's also really like it's so super interesting when you
start young because you keep growing and as you grow,
(07:01):
you it's almost like like a storybook of your life,
like online and there's videos and pictures. So when I
look back at videos of myself when I was like
younger and performing at these smaller venues, it just reminds
me of like how far I've come and and also
what is yet to come. Always super excited about the future,
(07:21):
and and you know, like I'm never in a negative
headspace either, Like I'm super positive and always looking forward.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
And you get that just from like following you along
on socials, like you just seem so optimistic about where
you're where, Like the trajectory of your career is going.
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
That is like the best compliment, because I really do
think that, like the number one way that you're gonna
get opportunities in life is if you keep a positive headspace,
because yeah, you don't like you will not like what's
meant for you is meant for you, And if you
don't have that headspace, like you know, you won't keep
moving forward. But I say all that to say that
(07:55):
I started much much, much, much smaller than to where
I've grown now, and there is still so much like
I was saying that I would like to grow into
and I started performing at local venues, and then after
that I ended up making I guess my quote unquote
national debut. When I was on the Voice, I was
(08:15):
like sixteen. Then I turned seventeen on the show, and
that whole experience. I don't talk about it as much anymore.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Is there a reason.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
No, it's just like my quote unquote past, and there's
more and more that has kept going from there. Like
I will never say like I will always have it
be a part of my life, but I'll never characterize
myself as being like somebody's voice just on the voice. Yeah,
like yeah, I feel like that was a stepping stone
to so much more right and as it should be.
(08:49):
You know, we shouldn't be stuck in one place. We
should keep moving forward.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Right or don't let it identify you?
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Right?
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Like, and that's what you want?
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Right?
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Can we sit there for like five seconds? Who tell me?
Who remind us who you're coach was? My coach was
John Legend?
Speaker 1 (09:02):
A legend? Unintended? But with that, like, would you say
because the new season of the Voice just right at
the start of the season, yeah, she's.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Like, I can't really don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
There's just so many, Like, there's so many.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
I think I was season twenty and then where are
we at now? You know it'll be like season twenty
six six. I actually can tell you because we have
to do a voice giveaway today. Oh my gosh, it's
twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Oh my god, that's crazy. See you're you're only twenty one.
But doesn't that make you feel old as hell? It does?
Speaker 4 (09:31):
But to be fair, I think there's two seasons a year.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Oh well, then, ain't nothing do you like when the
seasons come out?
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Do you feel like some sort of like nostalgia or like, yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
I feel like Damn, there's been like so what I
was seventeen, I'm twenty one.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Now, Like, also, give yourself credit. You were on the
Voice at seventeen years old.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
That's insane the challenge, But it was also really fun,
I will say, Like good being on a show like
that when you're that young. It's almost like summer camp,
Like we're all just right camping out.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Are there a lot of people your age at the time.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Yeah, we had like a small group of people that
were in the teens. We called it like the miners
because we were and we were all with our parents.
But fun, you know, And I feel like that whole experience.
I bring it up because that was the first time
that I was really introduced to like entertainment. Yeah, how
everything works, I guess on TV on live production. Yeah,
(10:28):
like there was pressure. You had to learn songs sometimes
songs that you didn't choose all the time.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Yeah. And also.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Before all that, I had also met with my first
ever label when I was fourteen.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
I was gonna say, did the show ultimately end up
opening a lot of doors for you and providing opportunity
after the fact.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
I will say it put my name out there, Okay,
one like you can't go on a show like that
and people not know you at all, Like it really
did put me out there. I think after that people
forget that. Like it's up to you really to continue
on with it, continue on, like are you gonna push
it forward? Because there's other contestants that come on next seasons,
(11:11):
which is totally fine. That's how the show works. You know,
there's contestants and there's new seasons and.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Et cetera, new talent blah blah blah, right, and that's just.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
How it goes.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
So it's really like what do you do after that?
Speaker 4 (11:21):
And I always always knew that when I was going
to be on that show, that was going to be
for that, and then after I was going to keep pushing.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
And pushing and pushing them.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
I'm alive, yeah, because I think that I would fail
if I stopped, Like if I if I stopped doing
it and I stopped and I just slowed down and
I didn't like, you know, there's so much more potential
if you see it, then I would know I failed
because I didn't push myself.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Well, I'm here to tell you you are far from failing.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
It's hard because sometimes I do feel i'm like are
you doing enough?
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Right? And that's always always I think that's just like
the American mindset, Like I mean, coming up, it's truly
like coming out of my honeymoon.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Europeans are like, what's work? I don't know what where
it is?
Speaker 1 (12:07):
And then where you're like if we're sitting down, we're
not doing enough to make ourselves successful for later, or
like we're not being productive, and yeah, I think that's
just the American mindset, not to minimize what you're set.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
No, you're like one hundred percent right, yes.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
But I mean that's true.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
You will get swallowed up in our society because if
yours my mentality at least is like if you're sitting down,
someone else is out there running no one.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Yeah, And that's how I've always been and that's always
been my mindset too. And like at the end of
the day, nobody is gonna do anything for you, Like
nobody is if you want something so bad, the only
person that's gonna get you there quote unquote quickest is you.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
You are so be on your ears.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
No, but it's just it's the truth, right, Like nobody's
gonna push for you like you will for yourself. So
like I don't have I really don't have a team. Now,
I don't have a manager. I've never really had no
because I do it all on my own.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Because you prefer that. Are you a type A girl?
Speaker 4 (13:05):
I am a type I will say, like I used
to be like what am I?
Speaker 2 (13:09):
But as I've gotten older, mode am I my type A?
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Yeah? Fully, like if I don't have I just my
phone shut down like two days ago and I was
phoneless for two days.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
But what did you do?
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Well?
Speaker 4 (13:22):
I was shotting myself, but also like I was losing
it because I have a calendar on that phone that
has every like to the tee that.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
They probably overheated, oh my god, oh my god, to
a tea.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
It has everything on there, like my next five months.
So I was freaking out because my new phone didn't
have that updated on there.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
So I was like, no, what am I doing tomorrow?
At No, that would throw me through a loop as well,
like if it's not on my calendar, I forgot about it.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
I was losing it. So I was like, oh, I'm
really type A.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Oh no, crazy, But we got it fixed.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
I'm so proud of you. We got to fix well.
So with that being busy.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
What is on your calendar Within the next few months,
you got a lot going on. What is the what?
So actually, you know what, Let's let me not get
too far ahead of myself.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
We ended the voice right.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
Now you go to Vie. Yes, now you go to NYU.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
I ended up going to NYU because I feel like
I've just n YU has also always been a dream
school for me, and the arts department there is incredible,
and like the professors, the students that you're with, like
you learn so much from each other, and I will say, like,
I've learned so much just being there. And it's also
such a nice community. And you're in New York, like
(14:34):
at the end of the day, you're in the biggest city.
And we were talking about it before, but I have
always been like New York to my core. I don't
see myself really living anywhere else long term, Okay, but
I really do love it there, and maybe just because
it's like familiarity, but it is super nice to be
there with.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Other people your age. Also, like going to NYU, if
it was a dream for you, that has to be
like a real like I don't want to say coming
of age, but like a real like Holy crap, I
made it and you did that, you know, like you
did that.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
But that's that's like, that's the goal always to you know,
push and push and push to get something and then
be able to look.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Back and be like we did that, right, No, So
what is that goal? Like with going to NYU and
having this career path that you already have at just
twenty one, what's it? Do you want to do theater?
Like you have a very theatrical performance, like you got
a big, big voice, So what do we do with that?
Speaker 4 (15:29):
I mean I have always said, like there's no one exact,
like clear clear like exact path that I would like
to I would like to do so much like right,
I of course want to you know, continue putting out music,
some of which that I hope reaches people more and more.
(15:49):
I always say, like, my number one thing is performing live.
I've always loved singing live and hmmm, obviously I think
which not a lot of people like, No, a lot
of people don't, and that's cool, that's your thing, but right,
I started that way, so I think that's why I
love it so much. And obviously like being able to
do a tour one day and have like an audience
in different cities and then also from there, like I
(16:12):
would love to explore theater and do Broadway at some point.
I would also love to work more in TV and film.
I just had my first placement in Netflix in June.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Wait did I miss that? It was in Ginny and Georgia.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Shut up?
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Wait, I love Genie and Georgia. Love it.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Wait I didn't clock that. What do you mean You're
in Geny and Georgia.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
No so, And this is like a prime example of
manifestation that I'll go into.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Uh huh.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
But like I sailed that to say, I would love
to do like music for TV and film and like
it's crazy, but like be nominated for an Oscar for
like music that you created for movies and like that's
just like the bigger scale, okay, but you know you
don't get there until you don't get there by like
(16:59):
starting put in that work girl, right, So that's like
like I would eventually like to do it all. There's
I know that there's a lot of people that have
like a specific I only want to do this in
this but I really have such an open mind when
it comes to that, Like I will do anything as
long as it alliance with what right.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Mean your coach on the voice was an egot and
it sounds to me like you're working.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
I would love like egot is the ultimate goal goal.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
Yeah, that would be absolutely incredible. And I mean so
when you say you were you had a feature in
Ginny and Georgia, like like vocal feature or were.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
You like on the show, it.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Was actually so wild.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
When we connected, I was talking about my song coming
up ahart Break, which at the time I was seventeen,
but just to say, manifestation wise, I put that out then,
and then I was doing like a lot of little
like social media things here and there because I've always
like done my social media and which is a whole
nother thing, a whole different beasts. Yeah, that's like so
(17:56):
important to for sure to keep at that. And I
ended up like putting it over a few a few
scenes from the season at the time, and the show
creator saw it and she shared.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Way you did that, like you put it out, you put.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Your own song.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
I edited it with with my song over it because
I was like, I think it would be cool if
if it was featured.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Whatever, and that's that's like producer shit.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
But you like have to do that right to like
actually put yourself out there.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
So like people need to see it to believe it
kind of.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
And I've always been such a visual person. That's why,
like I've as I've gotten older, I've also like fallen
in love with film music and like the whole yeah,
which I do have, like I can't say much about it,
but like there's more to that as well that I'll
be doing.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Okay, this is what people call scoring, right are you?
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Like score scoring?
Speaker 1 (18:41):
But also like.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
Sync, which is when you take like music, you've created
your own music and they placed that in different scenes
different Like.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
I'm mind blown right now that you thought to do
that on your own on social media.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
I would have never thought to do that. Should I
be sinking?
Speaker 4 (18:57):
Me with?
Speaker 3 (18:58):
You?
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Should say? Should we be sinking?
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Said we be? Were we? Wait? I'm gonna like start
like making music videos in my life and just putting their.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Songs behind it.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Listen you should?
Speaker 4 (19:08):
You should do whatever you want because honestly, you never
know like where things will take you. So I was
being like silly goofy and Blake putting in and I
was like ha ha ha, and literally in the caption
that I wrote, it was like at Ginny and Georgia
maybe season three question Mark and literally, Rachel, I'm not
telling I'm not even kidding you.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Like maybe a year.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Later after I posted that video I got I remember,
I was I was sleeping and I woke up. I
was super early, and I saw an email and it
was like request to use coming and I was like huh,
And then I went back to sleep because I didn't
know what.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
That's how I got my job here. I really thought
I was dreaming it and I woke up to an email.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
But anyway, I keep going.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
No, but it's like the whole process was wild to me,
because then I woke back up like a couple hours later,
and I was like.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Oh, wait, that wasn't fake.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Oh, And I was like wait.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
I was like wait, because when you post that, you
don't think anything of it.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Then, especially a year later, you think that it's right
maybe forgotten.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Because I guess they had been filming the season then
and whatever, and and at the time too, the show
creator had posted it.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Whatever. I didn't think anything of it.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
I was like, obviously that was like my first actual
song songs. It was like, oh, it's like super exciting
that she shared it. But I didn't know, right, like
I thought you had to, I don't know, go through
another process and they requested to use it. And then
after that it was a few months, a few months,
and then we finally got the green light and the
season came out, and then the show creator and I
(20:36):
are now like illoing show that Instagram and she was like,
I remember seeing that song and I thought it'd be
great for the show, and like that just goes to
show that's a small example of.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
You never know, like really you never know.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
I feel like that's also like the epitome of just
like TikTok virality nowadays, like the consistency. You have to
stay consistent and it's literally a second job at this point,
no it is, but like you just never know when
the one thing that you probably spend the least amount
of time on ends up hitting and God knows what
opportunity that can provide you at the end of the day.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
So it's no idea, never give up and keep trying.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
It's really with like.
Speaker 4 (21:11):
Everything, you have no idea, wow where anything will take you,
Like I'll look back.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
Wait, I need to go rewatch the season. I'm stuck off.
I'm so stuck on it was a good season two. Yeah,
with season three the recent one, Yeah, it's so tea.
I'm really ready for season the next season.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
But it took a wild turn because I was like, yeah, no,
I'm this is not a cute, se little show anymore.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
This is a no, I'm really over the whole, like
let's wait till the next season thing. Like I'm pretty
much a binger. So either you get it out or
you lost me.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
I was just kidding, but anyway, that's how I feel
about so many TV.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
But yeah, like you honestly have no idea, And that's
how I feel with's so many Honestly everything that anything
and everything that I've done until now. It's like I
think of myself like even just a year ago, like
I had no idea like what would.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Happen right a few months later? And you never know.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Sometimes these opportunities come from you pushing, or sometimes they
come to you because they're meant to be for you, right,
So yeah, is this so would you say that the
Ginny and Georgia experience the coolest thing you've done so far?
Speaker 1 (22:14):
What's like an experience you've had that you really resonate
with and you think about it all the time, like recently, yeah,
because I feel like recently I'm seeing you on red
carpets and then like.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Broadways, it was like wild.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
So I work with this incredible company shout out to
Relay Influence.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
They're based out of New York, and like.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
They give you such incredible opportunities when you work with them,
and like they really care for you, and like who
would have thought that I would ever meet this incredible
group of people. So actually I was just thinking about
this yesterday because I was like, I can't believe that happened.
So two weeks ago, I went to the American Theater Wing.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Yes, I think that's what I saw on your Instagram, Yalla.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
Yeah. And I had gone to the Tony Awards in
June and it's run by the American Theater Wing and
that's like.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Top of the top, like theater people.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
A lot of people in the arts in New York
are at that and I ended up like meeting I
just I was in that room with like Kristen Channawick and.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
That's what I say.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Well, and I was like what wow.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
Like I really it's a moment where like you I
went to the bathroom and I was washing my hands,
and like Sarah Burrellas walked in and I.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Was like, oh, stop, no, like what do you do?
Speaker 4 (23:34):
Like, I'm just going to the bathroom, like and so
it's just moments like that where I'm like I can't
believe I'm I started with absolutely nothing, I mean like
nothing right, knowing nobody, and then it's like when you
get to moments like that where you're in the room
filled with people who you've looked up to since you started,
(23:55):
it's like a full circle moment. But it's just stuff
that I used to pray for and it's happened now.
So I only say that because I'm very hopeful that
there's like more down the line and every zero doubts
and like everybody should be yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
A thousand percent. What did you say to Sarah berry
Ellis in the bathroom?
Speaker 2 (24:13):
I didn't say anything. I did not say anything.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Well, she walked into Pete. Your mom's over there, Like, yeah,
how did you not say anything? She walked into Pete?
Speaker 4 (24:22):
And like it's just that when it's like events like that,
it's it's like big people, right, yeah, like big names
and not everybody there is like a little fan.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
So I was trying to be cute.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
So cool, Oh girl, I I guess I'll say hello
to christ and I couldn't.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
I'm very proud of you for that. And you ended
up getting a picture I did, so you could have
gotten a.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
Mirror selfie with Sarah, like like a bathroom mirror selvator.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
No one has that, all right.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Next time, next time, mirror selfie, bathroom selvy.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
You know I ran into the bathroom.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
No, she's like in there as I'm like washing my
hands away, I gotta go.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
No, you probably did like the mature thing, but I'm
just not mature. Well, I I feel like I don't know.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
There's like always the time and place approach people.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
That is fair, But is that Kristin?
Speaker 1 (25:05):
I was like, no, no, no, no, because you never
know when you'll get that again.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
No, you have no idea. So I went.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
Actually, my friend Ayana introduced us, who was there. She
runs relay and she introduced us, and she was so nice.
I bet she was so nice since she looked at
me and she was.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Like, what do you do?
Speaker 4 (25:21):
And I said, well, I'm a singer and she was
like you and I.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
We are the same.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
She said that to you.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
Yeah, she said, we're the same, and I was like,
not really, but thank you.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Wait. Can I tell you about like a little victory
that I think about all the time, and that this
is those moments where you take those like we're the same,
like yes, me and Kristin China with Ars and Pattigo.
My little victory is that being on the radio. I'm
a part of sag AFTERRA so what you're familiar with,
I'm sure. So it's like the sag SO broadcasters, actors, singers,
like we're all under the same insurance planner union. And
(25:52):
I just think it's such a flex to be able
to say, like I'm represented by the same people like
Jennifer Aniston, right right, I am saying, but like that
for me is like a little win, Like I know.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
Every single time somebody's like stargraf drum like, oh same, you're.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Better than me. No, listen, no, because that's I mean,
you're right on that pathway.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
But I say that to say you take those little
victories if like you really are like Kristin probably identifies
herself as a singer.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Yeah, and so you got the same job titles because
like I think about it a lot.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
This is like with any musicians that I meet or
anybody in the arts, I'm always like, I think I
always see like where they started from, because unless you're like,
I guess a nepo baby.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Like right, you don't start baby, I'm big, right, No, actually,
And I feel like because our the world of artistry
is so oversaturated lately, and it's a it's a blessing
and a curse.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Let's be real, because.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
TikTok and all these Instagram and like social media platforms
give us an opportunity to be seen and heard when
in reality, years and years prior before social media, you
really had to work your way to the top, and
now you have that luxury of just posting and hoping
something hits in some season. Yeah, but I feel like
to navigate getting away from falling into that oversaturated market
(27:07):
that now is social media and dropping.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Artistry, whatever it may be for you.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
I think neo babies are taking advantage of it, like
how do I get myself ahead of the game here?
And like dad, mom, put me ahead of this A
couple of mils right, like, hey, can you get me
above this next viral video? Please?
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Like something like that.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
I think that's the only way they can differentiate themselves.
Now I think there's like.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Obviously there's it's a whole different conversation, but like, yeah,
some people are privileged and like not even if you're
a NEPO baby, but just like if you come from money,
like okay, I guess the upper hand at least in
this country.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Everything's so right.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
But it's also like I look at that and I'm like, Okay,
that's cool, Like obviously it is what it is. But
I feel like much prouder of myself when there's things
I've accomplished that like I know I've worked for. I'm
sure you get it too, like stuff that you've worked for,
or like just opportunities that you've always always because there's
(28:09):
been opportunities where I've circled back like you're heater and
it finally happens, Like you think about that and you
look back and you're like, oh, I did that by myself.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Yeah you did. And you know what, you're in that
same room as all those people who maybe didn't you know,
so don't forget that, right you're in the room. Yeah,
So now that you're doing all of these amazing things
and you have some things to add to that little portfolio,
repertoire of yours little it's like a stack. Who am
I kidding? What's next?
Speaker 2 (28:37):
You're giving me?
Speaker 1 (28:37):
You're giving me little nuggets of knowledge, but I like
need the tea. So what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Well?
Speaker 4 (28:43):
I if we're talking like original music. I mentioned it
briefly before, but I'm super excited. I'm like creating multiple
songs that hopefully could be put together in like a
larger project like an EEP your an album that would
be really cool huge. I'm performing at the grand Ole
Opry House in November.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
I die, which is like an honor.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
It's an honor for people that don't know like what
I mean. I'm like, I claim to be like a
little country gal, so like for me, I like, if
you're performing the grand Ole Opry, people work their whole
lives for that opportunity.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Yeah, and you're doing that at twenty one.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
Well, the thing is, like, I I've never even been
like a country goal you don't need to be, but
it's just like it still is an honor, Like that's
one of the top places that you could possibly ever performed.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Do we know how that ever started?
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Like? Why is that the top place to perform?
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Honestly?
Speaker 4 (29:39):
It's definitely a country thing, like it started with their
because it's in Nashville, right, yea, yeah, yeah, so it
started with country, and I'm sure it still is very
very country.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
But this will be it's held at.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
The Grand Ole Opry House, so we're still on the
stage and everything. This is for the Josie Music Awards,
so it's like a big independent music awards that they do.
It's probably the biggest one in the country. And I
was asked to perform.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
So what are you gonna perform?
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Oh, you can't tell, Well, Rachel, it'll be an original now,
so it'll be like I was mentioning, I do really
wanna because I think music should be aligned with your life. Yes,
most of the time. And I think I'm really at
a place where like I'm always I mean, I've always
(30:26):
been happy.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
I've never been like you are.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
Literally I feel like you're just like a sunshine girl.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
But anyway, yes, but I'm just I you know, I'm
ready to like just do some more fun stuff so
let people see you. Yeah, so that'll be like the
first time that I'll do that live. But it'll be
how can you watch it?
Speaker 3 (30:44):
Mom?
Speaker 2 (30:44):
Will you be there? Can you stream? It live.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
She's gonna stream it live and I'm gonna tap in.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
I'm so Facebook Live. I'm gonna be like the soul commenter.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
No, You're gonna literally pop up and I'm like that's incredible.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
So that'll be in November, and yeah, I'm super excited
about that. In December, we're doing something else. I don't
know if I could chat about yet.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Can you give us like like a very gray synopsis
so you don't get in trouble.
Speaker 4 (31:14):
It's a very big event that they hold in Nashville
every year during the Christmas season.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Are you gonna move to Nashville?
Speaker 4 (31:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (31:24):
I know, is the conversation we were having.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Yeah, because I was like, I'll move to Nashville and
a harpy and You're like, oh, I'm so New York.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
You do give me Nashville. I feel like I'll meet
people and like you give me Sittain City.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
You give me.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Nashville that you cannot give me a better compliment.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
I don't get Philly. I get in Nashville. Love that
for me, Love that for me, don't get don't get
it too, I said, if you catch me out at
Exfinity Live, and I'm like blacked out. Then I definitely
get Philly, but like I think my day to day
is definitely Nashville. Yeah wow, thank you.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
I get that.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
And you give me New York for what it's worthy,
very new York.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
I think New York people are just so like I
mean people you where people are mean.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
No, I think you're definitely elite though, Like I look
at you guys, and I'm like, like I aspired to
days you know. Yeah, no, no, no, not onlie that's
the wrong, but like elite, Like you guys are just
like creme de la crem like the important people, you know.
I I see that, Yes, like you carry yourselves with
like grace and poise and I just like have none
of that.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
I feel like people just I think it just.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
Goes with like personality wise. I'm always like, Okay, what's next?
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Yea, what is this?
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Like I will mean business ninety nine percent of the time,
what is next? As you should line it up? And
I feel like that's everybody in New York. We're always
like business. Yeah, Like it's there's no time to fool around.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Because you definitely need to, like I do to fool around,
Like nothing girl.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
All right, then we're gonna get you to Philly.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
I should come out to Philly with you.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Rachel, please, Oh my god, I would love that. Or
maybe we should just go to Nashville. Don't tempt me
with a good time, Carolina.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
I know, I know, like Nashville is really fun. We
always say, especially coming from New York, North Jersey, you
go to these other cities and people are so nice to.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
You, and you're like, why am I why?
Speaker 4 (33:08):
Like people will smile at you.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
People will smile at you in the elevator.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
What is that?
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Or they'll or you'll they'll be walking down the street
and they're like, good morning, good morning.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Good morning, good morning. Woke up and you thought he
was a good morning.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
I was on the bus in New York the other
day and the guy was like, it was literally seven
o'clock in the morning.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
I thought he was talking to me, and he was.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
Like this.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
Like, oh no, but that's like your average seven am,
right situation.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
I mean, not gonna lie.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
The other the Eagles home opener that we had on
a Thursday, I went to go walk my dogs at
seven am, and I knew I was opening up myself
to a world of conversation. If I wore Eagles attire,
and I kid you not, you would have thought this
was Christmas morning. Everyone was like, good morning, Oh my god,
go birds, And I was like, everyone needs to wear
Eagles attire all the time.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
But I know this is.
Speaker 4 (33:57):
Like a very very sports centered.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
It's definitely sports driven city, yeah for sure. Which people
are always like, do you know anything about sports?
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Like I like.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
I I I sing for the Knicks a lot. I've
been singing for the Knicks for a minute. Okay, Rangers, yes,
the Garden and like love it. But I don't know
much about.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
You know what. You'll pick it up as you go.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
I mean, you can know that Jalen Brunson on the
next is from South Jersey. So one degree in separation
school with my sister of Villanova. Villanova.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
You have a connection. I'm telling you.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
We used to come to Villanova a lot. Okay, Uh
so you know King of Prussia, mall, you know what?
Speaker 1 (34:43):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Just when you you know what? Just want you so
many brownie points.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
There's always a hot debate in this area whether or
not Villanova is considered a Philly school. And you just
said I always come down to Villanova. You didn't say
I always come to Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Well, I think I just won.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
I've never right, We've never like associated. Like when I
think of Villanov, I just think of Pennsylvania. I don't
think of like Philly Philly.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Oh No, but what's I think you're You're with the
majority on that one.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
I think I'm with. I think I think Villanov's a
Philly school.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
I'm like not, I'm not like head set on it.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
But if you really want to get into it, is
there a Central Jersey?
Speaker 4 (35:21):
You know?
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
I'm a I'm a type A person, but I'm also
like very I'm not too big on astrology, but I'm
very very libra ishau. I'm a Libra, and I think
Libras we just don't care sometimes about So I'm an
Aquarius and I also don't care a lot a lot
of things like is it a is it a thing?
Speaker 1 (35:43):
I'm also terrible with astrology, so I don't know. Yes,
But the separation of North verus South Jersey. And if
there's a central, oh, I mean, like, do you believe
do you believe there's a North Central and a South
or is it just North and South?
Speaker 4 (35:56):
Probably just a North and a South. That's my girl, right, Like,
what isl crazy? Say it with your chest? Say it
with your chest?
Speaker 2 (36:05):
What is that?
Speaker 4 (36:05):
No, it's just like, here's the thing I feel like
people sorry, like maybe we make up stuff sometimes because
what is central Jersey?
Speaker 2 (36:17):
What is life? You're like, if you believe in Central Jersey,
go off? How are to you?
Speaker 4 (36:25):
I don't mind, but I'm a little confused for sure. Okay,
this is the last Edison. What is middle?
Speaker 2 (36:31):
What is middle?
Speaker 4 (36:32):
What is that?
Speaker 1 (36:33):
All right, here's the last hot seat I'll put you
on because I really want to paint you in this
positive light that you literally give to the world on
your Instagram, so there is no negativity. If anyone comes
for Carolina, I swear I will jump down.
Speaker 4 (36:43):
Your I do get dragged sometimes, but I just don't care,
like and people get so caught up and I'm like,
you really just have to not.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
Which is so important as an artist. I feel like
I'm such a people pleaser, Aquarius. That's the only thing
I know about Aquarians. But I'm such a people pleaser.
I will sit in all day if I feel like
I heard somebody's feelings. So like, well, we're like that too,
Libra's Yeah, like we but it seems like you got
it figured out a little bit. Well.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
Now, I just don't care because regardless of what you
post on the internet, regardless if you have a certain
amount of people that follow you, there will always be
Joe Schmoe in the comments saying something like always. So
I think at this point, I just don't care. But
I've also never really cared.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
Maybe it's the way I was raised, but I just
I don't care.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Like I think I need to implement that more in
my mentality. But like, also, if they.
Speaker 4 (37:37):
Comment something that's like excruciatingly crazy back yourself, I could
just reply or delete.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
It, I get off my page.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
So you make it sound so easy, and you know what,
I really wish.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
I need to do this more.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
There are a lot of trolls though. It's so many,
and we love a keyboard warrior who would have no
balls to say it to your face. I said it,
but whatever to each their own. And with that, I
forget what my follow up question was even about something.
Hot seat hot seat, Okay, this is how we determine
if you're North or South Jersey.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
Okay, pork roller tailor ham listen. That's another one. I
got no idea.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
I've never in my life. She only cares about the
important stuff.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Let me tell you, I've never if we're talking business here,
I've never in my life.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
In my life.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
If you tell me you've never had pork roll, that's
I don't think so, or a Taylor Ham like, it's.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
The same thing. I think.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
I think it's literally the same thing.
Speaker 4 (38:31):
I think. I think it's a that's a South Jersey thing.
To me, pork roll is Taylor Ham's North Jersey.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
But where would you get a Taylor Ham? So Taylor
Ham is the brand and then the okay, yeah, but
you put it on your bagel, which I will admit
you guys have much better, much better bagels. We do.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
We have good food, I feel, But like pizza, is
that a New York thing or a Jersey.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
Okay, I will give that to I will give that
to New York. And simply because your water's better up there,
tell your your bread's better.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
That's an accurate Ali has.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
No The water in New York is insane. I stayed
one time at like it was the one hotel, the
one hotel in New York, which is like noise.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
Wait noise. I thought it was like no noise, a noise, Okay.
I was like, it is super nice.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
And I remember like I got there and I'm not
It was just the jar of It was just like
a jar and they had a little sign next to
it and they were like, this is the water. Our
water in New York is purest, so if you want water,
here's a jar.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
I was like, wait, okay, a jar of water.
Speaker 4 (39:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
And that was the first time I left from the Hudson.
Oh no.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
It was just like an empty jar and it was like,
if you want water, go to the sink. I was
like at the one hotel, but I understood it was
very good water.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Yeah, I like that marketing for them. That was the
first time I.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
Was like, you know what, I could appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
Yep, I agree, I agree. You know, Carolina, you blow
my mind, sister. I am so proud of you. Watching
your journey has been absolutely incredible. And even though half
the time I have no idea where you are, what
you're doing, all I know is you don't sleep because
you are a hustler queen, And don't you freaking stop.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
Thank you you too. Like I'm always seeing different things
that you're doing. And I can't believe this is like
our first time meeting.

Speaker 4 (40:16):

Speaker 1 (40:16):
I'm gonna implement a lot of things that we talked
about today into my life. First since first, not giving
a flying fart what people say, not caring if that's
one thing that people got to listen to, don't care, amen,
and not caring Amen to Mama Duke's going live whenever
your performance is at Grand Old Operator.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Take out the Facebook live with such a parents thing.
Speaker 1 (40:33):
Well, and most importantly, people need to see literally the
star power energy you have on your Instagram and all
all of the covers. I cannot wait for your authentic
original music, but pimp it out.
Speaker 2 (40:45):
Tell everyone where they can find you, give them the lowdown.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
I'm on pretty much everywhere except for like Twitter or
x whatever it is.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
Oh my god, what a millennial thing, you know.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
I'm an Instagram Carolyne Real Music. That's also my Facebook.
