Hillbilly Feminist

Hillbilly Feminist

A little bit of humor from a feminist. You may think impossible, but in reality no one cares what trolls think. I will discuss one topic (or ten depending on how much caffeine I drink) each episode concerning the Midwest American culture, and by American I mean ‘Merican. The life of a feminist in the Midwest gets a bit tense at times and I hope to show people in rural areas that the word “feminist” is not a threat to your livelihood, unless you make a living by being a misogynist. In that case…uh…suck it.

Check out this episdoe that includes an amazing interview with someone who has seen the effects of attacks on unions. Please, share what you hear and tell people the impact this bill will have on everyday citizens. We also talk about Trump being traitor-y, per the usual, and interactions with people who are Trump supporters/family.

Several things are talked about in this episode. I start with The Beast of Bodmin Moor and some parallels with a beast in the Ozarks. Then there is some of the policies that continiously blow my mind, including Prop A (Missouri), Judge Brett Kavanaugh (Federal), Trump meeting with May (International), and the horrific attitudes toward the “zero tolerance” immigration policy (International).

In this episode, I recap some of the things I learned from the National Association of Social Workers conference in DC. Found out my perspective was definitely scewed and a bit too optimistic about this fall’s elections. Biggest thing I learned…even if you think you’re the most progressive person you could be, think again and be aware of engrained biases.

Enjoy this episode full of tangents about what it’s like to not want children in a society that doesn’t respect women’s choices. My two guests, Julia and Winter, talk about their experiences and whacky other topics, from periods to vibrartors. Also, because I don’t drink often and we tried a tasty chocolate stout, my grammer is not…the best. Enjoy! Trigger warning: there is a brief...
