At the time, the then Arizona Govenor, Fife Symington trotted out an Aide of his dressed as an alien, which went a long way towards ridiculing the event. The ten years later he reverses his stance, and comes out as being someone wholly in support of blowing the lid off what really happened, and he has publicly said he believes these were extra-terrestrial vehicles.
