(00:22):
This is your Amcon Daily Sit Rep for November the 12th, 2025.
Up first today, a global surge in chronic kidney disease has pushed it into
the top 10 causes of death worldwide.
There are now 788 million reported cases, with 14% of adults showing reduced kidney function.
Early detection is critical, as the disease often has no symptoms in its initial stages.

(00:43):
Health professionals urge regular screening, especially for those with diabetes
or high blood pressure, and recommend lifestyle changes such as maintaining
a healthy diet, regular exercise, and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol
to slow disease progression.
In other news, hundreds of flights have been canceled across the United States
as air traffic controllers continue to work without pay due to the government shutdown.

(01:05):
This has led to a temporary reduction in flight operations, with the aviation
industry anticipating it may
take several days after the shutdown ends to return to normal schedules.
Further impacting aviation, the Department of Transportation and the Federal
Aviation Administration have announced a temporary 10% reduction in flights
at 40 major airports to support airspace safety during the ongoing shutdown.

(01:27):
These measures include limiting some visual flight rule approaches and restricting
certain commercial space activities, all aiming to maintain safety amid staffing constraints.
Turning to a broader topic, food security is increasingly recognized as a national security issue.
Historical and current events demonstrate how food insecurity can be exploited
by hostile groups to gain influence and control.

Notable protests are scheduled today in cities including Burbank,
California, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Albany, New York, and Oneonta, New York.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
