Sein Arbeitsschwerpunkt ist der Kaukasus. In dem Gespräch werden Fragen nach der Organisation des Islam in Russland nach der Auflösung der Sowjetunion diskutiert. Dazu wird die Frage der Beziehungen Russlands zu islamischen Ländern thematisiert, insbesondere zu Iran. Aus dem Gespräch lässt sich einschätzen, welche Bedeutung der Islam für das Regime um Wladimir Putin aktuell hat. Das Gespräch wurde 2008 aufgezeichnet.

His work focusses on the Caucasus. The discussion will focus on the organisation of Islam in Russia after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The question of Russia's relations with Islamic countries, in particular Iran, will also be addressed. The interview provides an assessment of the current significance of Islam for Vladimir Putin's regime. The interview was recorded in 2008.
