“Start a business, and just start asking for help. You can get there a lot faster than what I think a lot of other people can or do, who tend to be more closed and guarded in their approach,” says Jay B Sauceda, entrepreneur-in-residence with Salt Box and former CEO of Sauceda Industries. Today, he joins host Stefan Whitwell to talk about the lessons he has learned along his entrepreneurial journey from how to celebrate your human capital to the importance of saying thank you.

Jay B focuses on building Texas culture into his businesses with a real focus on ensuring his employees feel valued and celebrated. Many companies make the mistake of focusing only on consumers and forget to put time into attracting and retaining the best talent. Even something as simple as writing a thank you note can go a long way in building relationships. As a leader, it can get lonely at the top, and one of Jay B’s most prized gifts is feedback from former employees who felt he was a great boss.

Your business cannot be successful without a strong and talented team. The most effective way to attract and retain the best talent is to design a work culture where human capital is at the highest level of priority.
