(00:00):
Russell Metzler,
the gas products guy.
A good friend of mine.
We've known each other for probably 13,
14 years now.
A prequalified checkup pro service member.
Hey,
Russell,
how you doing,
buddy?
Hey Joe.
I'm doing great.
Blessed to be here.
Thank you.
It's so great to have you here.
Thanks for joining me today here on the program.
Uh So for those of you who don't know,

(00:21):
Russell is the gas products guy.
He,
you know,
if you have anything in your home outside of a dryer or a water heater or anything else like appliance like that,
um He handles it so he handles your gas fireplace and he handles your outdoor fire features like fire pits,
anything that would be gas in your outdoor kitchen.

(00:41):
He also does gas lights and I want to talk about that today.
Yep,
gas lights.
We do gas lights uh that are on posts out in the yard or gas lights that are mounted to the house,
either side of the entryway or anywhere on the house.
Um They have uh issues that they have to be maintained.

(01:03):
Um They can be replaced,
they can be repaired.
We,
we offer all those services.
Yeah.
And so for those of you who are,
like,
I don't quite understand,
maybe your neighbor has some nice lights.
I like to call them gas lanterns because it sounds more sophisticated.
Right.
So,
you know,
in those nice neighborhoods,
when you're driving by saying,

(01:23):
gosh,
one day let's upgrade to this type of neighborhood.
And you see the flickering gas,
those are really nice.
They add a lot of elegance and warmth to a home kind of castle like.
And they're not really that expensive.
They seem very elegant.
And then again,
you might drive through a neighborhood that has a post out front that has a gas light and it's a different one.

(01:47):
It more glows than flickers,
but it's still an efficient way to bring light to the yard.
So what's the difference between those two?
The flickering ones are the ones that glow.
So the ones that glow have what we call mantles,
it's,
it's just a,
some people refer to it as the sack.

(02:08):
Some people refer to it as that thingy that hangs down.
But they're all referring,
they're,
they're talking about Mantel and mantles is uh it's a mesh material that when,
when you set fire to it,
it turns to ash and begins to glow and it puts off that light.

(02:30):
They say about 70 watts of light and it'll keep burning even if the electricity goes off.
So,
uh it,
it,
it can be a very beneficial thing,
especially during a storm or after a storm when the lights have all gone out and that sort of thing.
And the other type of lights,
the,
the ones you asked about the flickering ones,
those are what we call open flame lights and the open flame lights.

(02:54):
Uh,
people love that.
Look.
It's the,
the ambience.
Um,
is a word I hear quite a bit when referring to talking about those.
Um,
they don't give off as much light but they are very elegant,
very pretty.
Uh,
people just enjoy seeing that.
Yeah,
they are.
Uh I've had them before on a previous home I've lived in and they're really low maintenance.

(03:20):
Every once in a while though.
You need to have them maintained,
but they don't burn out like a light bulb.
They use very little gas and it's really,
really worth that ambiance,
that warm feeling it's inviting.
When you go to someone's front door,
you wanna be welcomed.
So you want a nice welcome mat.

(03:41):
It should be clean.
So the cob web shouldn't be there.
The door should be recently refinished and beautiful and the handle should be nice.
So should the lighting?
It really makes a big difference.
If you wanna learn more about this,
you've got to contact Russell Russell Metzler from gas product services.
All of his information is located in the description of this podcast.

(04:05):
Also,
Russell and I have talked about all types of gas products.
He works with in his other podcast so you can watch those as well.
Russell,
thanks so much for joining me today on the program.
Hey Joe,
thanks for having us.
And as always,
I feel honored and humbled to be here with all the glory.
Goes to God.
