Since records began, women have been getting a raw deal in every field of discovery. Treated as second-class citizens, women have had to fight adversity from all sides just to be recognised for the work they've done. Whether that's in science, art or even something as common as the disposable nappy/diaper (that's actually a thing, Google: Marion Donovan/the Boater), women weren't taken seriously.
Just watch Hidden Figures, the story of NASA's Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson who were required to work, eat and use the toilet facilities in a different building to their "white" colleagues.
None of the above mentioned feature in this week's episode however, because they were rightfully recognised for their achievements, even though they had to fight every step of the way.
Instead, we're taking a look at the women in history whose outstanding contributions were overlooked, ignored or downright stolen from them by men.
