Welcome to our slip and fall injury episode. We realized we were remiss in not yet discussing slip and fall injuries. Mike & Armin talk about a recent medical journal article discussing a new treatment for PTSD.  Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is one of the most common psychiatric problems after trauma and often a medical damage in injury cases.  They discuss a high success rate/low side effect treatment called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

One case is a post-mortem psychological autopsy and the other case involves answering an attorney question about possible poor credentialing of a medical professional by a healthcare institution.

Mike & Armin discuss an interesting Workers Compensation case on which Mike consulted.  Our attorney client called Mike to say he was “stuck” regarding one of the injuries in the case.  After Mike reviewed the IME report in question, he let our attorney client know he disagreed with the medical opinions in the report and helped the attorney find a solution to this issue.

We are excited to have back one of our favorite guests, David Grundy, M.D. David is an Emergency Medicine doctor who also practices Medical/Legal Consulting in California. David discusses a traumatic tibial bone fracture which then gives him an opportunity to discuss his method to “reverse engineer” scientific predictions based on medical literature of expected future medical problems secondary to the immediate traumatic injuries.

Mike and Armin each discuss a case outside of the usual car crashes, work injuries, etc. Mike talks about a case of placental abruption. Armin discuses a case of medications stopped abruptly after a woman is jailed for a DUI. The similarity in both cases is the possibility of a system failure. Mike and Armin discuss whether or not there was negligence in these cases.
