(00:11):
Aw, yes.
Becks, we're back!
We are, yeah!
It is the holidays, it's Christmastime, it's Kwanzaa time, Hanukkah
time, whatever time you'recelebrating it is going on right now.
It's a
Oh my god.
What was it?
Yeah, right?
What was it?
This past weekend we had acrazy Christmas party at KW.

(00:31):
That thing was wild.
we sure did, yeah.
That was my annual Christmas party.
Oh, I guess I'm blurred.
You can't
I like that, it blurted it out.
That's how wild it was.
It blurted out the thing.
details because you weren't there.
That was a wild one.
But let me set this show up for you here, what we're doing on Radio Daybreak today.
We've got from Empower CommunityMarkets, one of my favorites from the

(00:53):
Daybreak Community, it's Laura Gaylordcoming on, and I can't wait to ask
her about a lot of these, uh, these, these rumors I'm hearing out there.
Big announcements.
to her to also about the great summerwe had with the Farmers Market.
I was out there, man, it was hot.
But we'll get to that.

(01:13):
And we've also got.
A childhood favoriteof everybody out there.
We've got Peter Billingsley.
If you're like, who's Peter Billingsley?
Sounds familiar.
He is the kid from A Christmas Story.
Christmas story!
Who doesn't
He'll be on the show today.
Yeah, he's gonna be on the show talkingabout the holidays and giving out some,
uh, messages of hope for Promise to Live.

(01:36):
It's from Promise2Live.org.
We went out there anddid some work with them.
I can't wait to get to that, but right now, Peter can wait.
Mr.
Billingsley can wait becauseI've got Laura Gaylord from
Empowered Community Markets here.
Laura, what's up?
Hi, Laura!
Hey guys, so glad to be back.
I'm very excited for everything coming up.

(01:56):
I'm, I can't believe we got you sittingright here because you're like the
busiest person in Daybreak and for youto sit still, if Laura's, if Laura in
a minute's like, I gotta go guys, andif she does that, I wouldn't be upset.
Would you, would you Becks?
We couldn't,
no, no, no.
This is her.
Like the fact that she's sitting here,we better, we better start rolling
because I know this woman is busy.

(02:19):
So welcome.
Welcome, Laura.
It's so great to have you.
Thank you so much.
That's not far off from the truth.
I looked up at the time.
I'm like, how much, howmuch time do we have?
we'll get you out here pretty quick, but we're gonna, I gotta talk to
you first about the summertime like
Yeah.
Everybody wanted more markets.
The summer was amazing.
I had to say it's probably one of the bestsummers for Daybreak Farmer's Markets just

(02:42):
because it felt like the whole communitywas either there or talking about it.
And
Blane, people may not know, Laura Gaylordis behind Empowered Community Markets.
She is the guru and the go to and themastermind behind all of these markets.
So, Laura, how you do it is justabsolutely fantastic and amazing.

(03:03):
But yes, kudos to you for the, forthe, uh, summer, the Farmer's Market.
Tell us how that went this year.
Thank you so much guys.
market was absolutely wonderful.
We have such a fantastic communityhere and it's really due to the
community support, getting theword out, everybody coming out.
Daybreak is such a wonderful walkablecommunity that people make it part of

(03:23):
their lives, part of their Saturdayroutines to come on out and, you
know, get some food from Boundary.
Brown bag breakfast and go pick up theirsoap and their groceries and whatnot.
But we have amazing vendors.
Like our vendors are so high qualityand we, we literally go home, pick our
vendors, um, just absolutely love them.

(03:44):
And like I said, the communitysupport is what makes it possible.
So we're in the background, pullingeverything together, but it wouldn't be
the success it is without the community.
now I'm going to have to shout outthat vendor you just named off.
Brown Bag Breakfast.
Holy cow.
Seriously.
you didn't get to the Farmer's Market, and I went to the ones in Sandy too.

(04:05):
Now that's Rachel's,that's Rachel Hoffman.
That's uh, Laura's cut.
cousin.
Mm hmm.
so that's under,
Oh, yeah, Laura,
so Empowered Community Markets, that's theSandy City Farmers Market is under us and
that this was our first year running that.
My cousin Rachel Hoffman is the marketdirector for that and she's done
just an incredible job running that.

(04:26):
The vendors love her.
We have Brown Bag over there also.
that, that breakfast spot, if youwere not there early, and I have
two brothers that run that thing.
Is it two brothers that runthat or something like that?
Yeah, it's a, it's afamily, family business.
You've got a few differentfamily members in there.
Yeah,

(04:46):
all the vendors.
I got to, so I got out there allsummer and was talking to the vendors
and getting to meet these people.
And it's a, it's a different,it's a different world.
The farmer's market is a different world.
I'll say that.
I've been in a lot of different worlds.
I've been in the pro wrestling world.
than that.
The rap life world and theradio world and the movie world.
I've been in all that.

(05:08):
It's its own tight knit community thatother vendors would know other vendors.
I would
yeah.
talk to somebody at Daybreak and they'dbe like, Oh yeah, I know so and so
over there in Sandy at the market.
They're doing this and this.
And I love that really community feel.
It was a great vibe.
I met so many great people out there.

(05:29):
Um, Rabbit Hole.
That was one of my favorites.
And Laura has, she doesn'tjust have the produce.
Rabbit hole is like her kava andall these other types of, uh,
herbal energy, uh, drinks andstuff, but she's got a huge range.
Yip yap treats popped up.
I saw the birth of yip yap treats.

(05:51):
that's
that's right.
So Marina Gaylord, who, yes, ismy daughter, she is with us this
year doing gift out treat chat.
So those are hand baked, um, dog treats.
They're baked fresh the evening before,so dogs can have them the next day.
Uh, we have two dogs andthey absolutely love them.
So, uh, I've tried them because they're

(06:14):
I was gonna say, I was gonna say,
can have them.
I was gonna say, shedidn't pay me to say this.
This is a true testimonial.
I have eaten one of those dog biscuits.
It's on video somewhere out there.
I did it.
They're fresh and they're delicious.
We are not surprised bythat, Blane, whatsoever.
I mean, I had to test it out.
I can't be giving my, my, my, my,

(06:35):
Oh,
Yeah.
was like,
I love it.
like Scooby Snacks.
Shaggy and Scooby.
I was like, I can eat it.
Dogs can eat it.
Everybody's fine.
It's good.
So Laura, the buzz off of the summerthough, didn't let you stop because
usually you get like a break andyou get to kind of wind down and get

(06:56):
off of the high from last summer andget prepared for the next summer.
No, no, no, no, no.
Laura, you didn't, you've done.
You're not messed up.
Like, you've done such a goodjob that this has become,
this is almost permanent now.
Like, I just saw you a coupleweeks back, uh, November 30th.
We were down at Novel.
We were doing, uh, Wintermark.

(07:18):
I saw you there.
Uh, that thing was booming.
There was Santa upstairs.
And now I'm hearing that, uh,That wasn't even the biggest
one for Daybreak coming up.
We got a big one coming up on the 14th.
Is that right?
This Saturday?
it's the 13th and 14th.
So Friday from Friday,December 13th from 4pm to 8pm.

(07:38):
And then Saturday, the14th from 10pm to 3pm.
And we'll have Santa with us on Saturday.
It's the same Santa we've always had.
I know people get concerned aboutthat because they're just marvelous.
So the same Mr.
and Mrs.
Santa and they're from there from 10 to 2.
30.
Um, and we're going to dosomething different this year.

(07:58):
We know that there's been a long linein years past and to alleviate that
line we're going to have you comein Scan a QR code, get your time to
meet with Santa, and then you can goshop and not have to wait in line,
not worry about losing your turn.
Uh, go shop, go enjoy the event, and then come back and let
Santa know what you Christmas.

(08:19):
So, it'll
I'll be the first.
Yeah, I'll sign up first for that.
I'll have the QR code.
I'll be ready to go.
Go hop up on Santa's lap.
Let him know what I want this year.
What am I too old to sit on Santa's lap?
absolutely not.
I got the no,
too old for Santa, Blane.
Come on.
Speaking of the Santa, and she saidit's the same Santa we've seen.
you're

(08:39):
I believe State Farm and BecksNielsen Real Estate, you're
sponsoring the Santa at this event.
Um, now Becks, you got to tell me though,is this the same Santa we interviewed?
This is, oh, of course, of course, yes, this is our real Santa who we just
interviewed on the podcast last week, ifyou guys didn't tune in to that podcast.

(09:03):
So yes, this is Santa Claus, the himself.
I've got quite a historywith that one there.
That's, now we've seen a lot of Santasand there's nothing wrong with the other
ones out there that go to the mall.
And you know, we, you have to have that.
Santa's got to have some help out there.
Oh,
This is a real deal Santa.
I can't wait to see him out there.

(09:23):
This is, so this is at the DCC though, the, the Daybreak Community Center, right?
Yep.
Friday and Saturday.
Yes,
You're good.
Center, 544 West HarvestMoon Drive, South Jordan.
It'll be, it'll be great.
We've got 80 plusvendors, some food trucks.
Um, and we've got sweet treats inside,we've got savory treats outside.

(09:43):
We have wonderful vendors, uh, gifts.
As always, we have a variety, justa wide variety of high quality,
handmade, upcycled, recycled goodsthat are hard to find anywhere else,
and you know that you're gettingreally great quality with them.
Well,
I
we know you are so busy, and before welet you go, we want to, uh, talk about a

(10:07):
big, exciting announcement that we have.
Blane kind of set us up for thatsaying, hey, you know, it just used
to be the, the farmer's market thatused to do, and then you got a little
bit of relief at the end of the yearonce the winter market was done.
No longer, my friends, no longer.
ahead and share the details ofyour exciting new announcement

(10:27):
with what Empowered CommunityMarkets is now taking on.
We're so excited for this.
For years, we've been asked abouthaving a winter market or an off season
market, and we're so excited to be ableto have the opportunity to do this.
So thanks to Novel Daybreak byCrescent Apartments, they are allowing
us to use their space so that wecan set up there and have our mini

(10:49):
market and we will be having thisonce a month starting in January.
We're super excited.
Chad's Produce has greenhouses and so weare able to have a farmer during these
off season months with fresh produce, which everybody knows that getting really
fresh produce in the off season is hard.

(11:10):
It's
It's a challenge.
Woohoo!
traveling forever and it'slost nutritional value.
So we're able to support a localfarmer who's grown it fresh nearby.
And we're super excited for that.
Those dates.
I'm just going to shout them out righthere are January 11th, 8th, March 15th.
April 12th and May 10th.

(11:32):
Those are all Saturdaysand it will be from 10 a.
m.
till 4 p.
m.
So you have plenty of time to come over.
We'll have a variety of vendors justlike we always do and fresh produce
and it's just a way to tide youover until the summer season starts.
It's also supporting our localbusinesses and these small

(11:52):
businesses that rely on us so much.
love that.
excited
that.
So, so that's coming up.
The first one is January 11th at NovelDaybreak by Crescent Communities and
Empowered Community Markets partnering up.
That's two of the most powerfulpeople and entities here in Daybreak.
That's just, that's, that's my opinion.
It's actually just two of myfavorites here in Daybreak.

(12:14):
But that's January 11th.
You can go to Novel Daybreak.
10678, it's South Lake RunRoad, right here in Daybreak.
If you haven't been over there to Novelanyway, you gotta go check this place out.
it's so gorgeous.
Is it not?
Like, we've been over there,
Thousand Hills, the coffee shopthat's right there, is giving
discounts during the markets as well.
So you can get a discount while you're,get a coffee while you're shopping around.

(12:37):
Get your coffee and yourshopping done, you guys.
So
and we're definitely gonna want tobe warm out there because January,
February, boy, it's gonna be,it's gonna be brutal out there.
It's gonna be, you gotta be inside warm.
Oh, it is.
It's all interior, all inside.
This market is all inside of thisbeautiful, beautiful building.
We're excited to see you guys there.
Shout out to Atlanta 1000 Hillsalso for having fun with stuff,

(13:01):
because if you look at their menuwhen you go in, it always changes.
And they've got like seasonal drinks andthe, the, the, the community there at
Atlanta 1000 Hills, the employees andthe owner, they all come together and
come up with these crazy little names.
And it's just, I think they have,
Oh my gosh, I gotta go try that.
I'm like in the perfect color for it.

(13:22):
Exactly.
go.
I think they have some seasonalbeverages over there right now.
You know what they should do is start, start a little passport where you
got to try them all and get them.
That'd be good.
There you go, Leonard of 1, 000 Deals.
There's a little marketing tip101 from Just Blane here for you.
I
Well, Laura, it has been apleasure having you on the show.
I know we are trying to be so mindful ofyour time because you have another event

(13:43):
that you've got to get to right now,um, but really, really appreciate you.
Any last minute shout outs or anythingelse that you would like to, um,
touch on that we may have missed?
um, we'll have some exciting news comingin January about something else that
Rachel and I are Venturing into so, um,

(14:03):
Stay tuned.
much more about that.
Yeah.
Though we have another, anotherexciting venture that we're
starting in January on top ofeverything Cause we're just excited.
I love
can't wait.
I'm going to tell you what, for youtwo powerhouses to come together
and, and, and release something else.
I can't wait to see what that is.
When you are ready to talkabout that, come on back on.

(14:24):
Please come
right.
back and see us.
Hit us up.
much.
Appreciate it.
Thank you, Laura.
We'll, we'll, we'llsee you at, uh, Friday.
We'll see you Friday the 13th.
Friday the 13th.
Wait a minute.
I love Friday the 13th.
I did too.
I think there's a seniorcitizen discount also on Friday.
So
Yes.
that.
On Fridays, thank you so much.
So Friday on between 4 to 8 p.

(14:46):
m., senior citizens receive a 10 percentdiscount at the Daybreak Winter Market.
So come on out and shop
is that, do you have to ask, letme ask a quick question on that
because I'm a little concerned.
Do you have to actually bethat age or is it how you feel?
Because I feel like I'm about 85.
Oh, Blane.

(15:06):
Blane, we're I.
D.
ing you, because, uh,
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
that would be like you trying to getthat additional discount in there.
I love it.
So Laura, we'll see you.
IDing, it's Blane's fault.
Yeah.
Right.
exactly.
We'll see you Friday and Saturday.
It's so wonderful to have you on thisshow, and we are looking forward to
that additional exciting announcementthat you have for us coming in January.

(15:28):
Thanks so much, guys.
I appreciate it so much.
I love Laura.
Like, what can you say?
Like, she's so good at what she does.
I really, I'm excited for, to seewhat her and Rachel put together.
me too.
I know.
I'm like, what is it?
What is it?
And when can we find out?
Right now, like Laura, I met Rachelover the summer and I was like, oh
my gosh, there's two Laura's now.
Like there's, there's two powerhouses.

(15:50):
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
some genes there, right?
They're cousins.
So yeah, they are.
They're both amazing.
And the two of those, you know, two of, and those two together are
just like, Powerhouse, unstoppable.
So this will be incredible.
Whatever they get involved inis like exponentially amazing.

(16:10):
Awesome.
What they do.
You know what else is awesome?
This interview.
This interview.
That we got with Peter Billingsley.
Oh, yes.
Now we got this back at FanXand it was promised to live.
org.
Go visit promised to live.
org.
Make the promise to live right now.
It doesn't take, but I think I've done it.
Blane, especially thistime of year, right?

(16:31):
Like we've talked a lot about this with,um, suicidal ideation and awareness.
Brandy Vega does such afantastic job with this.
Um, again, a shout out to herand everything that she is
doing and, you Celebrities.
Particularly Peter for talking about thatmessage of hope during this season, right?

(16:51):
Because seasonal depression andholidays are, yes, they're fun
and they're blissful and they'reexciting and all of the things, but
they can be really, really hard.
In fact, suicide rates do actuallygo up in the month of, um, December
Yeah.
Yeah.
the winter months in general.
So really important message for them.
So yeah,
I mean, if you see somebodystruggling, just ask, like,

(17:12):
ask them, you say, Hey, you
truly.
need what you need, you need a hook.
Like you need to talk.
You need,
Pocket hugs, right?
I know I was trying to find mine.
I've got, I just rearranged my studio, but I had a whole bunch of those pocket
hugs and, and I think I saw where,Oh, you know what, here they are.
And I think Randy was on amission still to give out the 50,
000 or whatever, these things.

(17:33):
I've got to focus, but
thousand this year.
Yep.
Yeah, and we did our part at RadioDaybreak, me and you did, uh,
to help whatever way we could.
And
did, but you know what Blane, that'sthe thing is the work is never done.
And so we will continue to sharethese messages of hope throughout
our shows through 2025 where we can.
We absolutely love this, um, organizationand what they're doing and we'll

(17:57):
definitely be doing more partnership workwith them down in the future as well.
I think, I think she's got a, Brandi'sgot a holiday show coming out too.
If it's not out rightnow, look, Brandi Vega.
Go find her on Facebook.
know she's awesome.
Yeah, you'll find it, but let's gosee this, this, let's go take a look
at this interview with, with Pete.
do it.
All right.
Thanks guys.
We're here with Peter Billingsley.

(18:18):
I can't believe my eyes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm really, really glad to be here.
Now I'm looking at you right here andthis is what we know you for right here is
Ralphie.
Yes, that's right.
Ralphie from the Christmas
story.
How, how many times do you get Ralphie?
And then after the sequelwe did a couple years ago.

(18:39):
Yes.
Kind of brought back a lot as well.
Even more.
And then you've got to be buddiesover there with Scott, right?
Scott Schwartz, yeah.
Scott's done a lot of these conventions.
Something that's new to me, this is thethird one I've ever done, so it's fun.
Did a couple on the East Coast last yearand we wanted to do one on the West.
So, we heard that this was a phenomenal
Place to do
it.
Place to do it and so farthe fans have been great.
Oh, I love it.

(19:00):
Now, has, does Scott still bully you?
Scott never bullied me.
Oh, I thought he bullied you.
I bullied Scott.
He bullied Scott.
Scott.
Are you still filming him?
Yeah, so, so, a Christmas story though.
Everybody loves that movie.
Yeah, I don't know.
Rough looking character.
Becks, tell them what we gothere is Hope for the Holidays,
Promise2Live.org, Resilient You.

(19:21):
Yes, absolutely.
So here with Promise To Live, which is a suicide prevention and
awareness organization, Brandy Vegais absolutely amazing over that.
Coming into the holidays rightaround the corner, people do
struggle with suicide, ideation, Justreally challenging year in general.
What message of hope do youhave for your fans out there?

(19:42):
Or really anyone that'sstruggling with this right now?
I think
so, yeah.
I think the holidays can be aparticularly difficult time.
Yeah.
And I think it's, I think it's two things.
One, knowing everybody goes through that.
You're not alone in those feelings.
And it's really knowing thateach life in this world matters.
And it matters a lot.

(20:02):
And it's sometimes hard to see.
But it's a long vehicleto hold on and keep going.
Reach out to those that you love, and findcomfort in the things that bring you joy.
Slowly but surely, you'llstart to see that again.
Uh, the world's full of a lot ofgreat people, including all of you.
Thank you so much.
Such a beautiful message.
I mean, you're a part of aniconic movie around the holidays.

(20:24):
That movie right there, probably, it does.
Every year.
It helps people every yearget through the holidays.
The
24 hour marathon.
Are you still doing it?
I think the one, yeah, ofcourse, the one commentary.
That the film brings a lot ofpeople joy, and that's a nice thing.
Completely, completely.
Find that joy.
Find the joy.
Thank you.
Thank you, Peter.
Thank,

(20:44):
thank
you so much.
Thank you.
Nice to.
What can, what else canyou say, , that was whatev.
What?
Fun.
That's a great way to end the show.
I mean, what else is there to say?
Thank you so very much for taking thetime to spread that message of hope.
We really, truly appreciate and honorthe work that you guys are doing.
And once again, promise to live.org.
Go visit the website.
Make the promise today,

(21:06):
Yes.
daybreak.com.
Go find out more about us.
Go see us
That's right.
And Blane, who do we havenext week on the show?
next week.
We're gonna have.
Wow.
The women of wrestling?
Is it that?
Wow.
like.
Women Optimizing Wellness.
So we are going to have the WOW group.
Yours truly is part of that.

(21:27):
It's a women's networkinggroup that we recently founded.
We are going to be having, withouttoo many, um, you know, spoilers.
We are going to be announcing, um, ourhard launch that is happening in January.
Right around the corner, the 27th.
Save the date on that, um, but my cofounders are the wonderful, um, Michelle
Lena Orton and then also Jennifer Banks.

(21:48):
We know love her.
She is a fantastic author.
Um, Michelle, of course, is aTEDx speaker and has her own
podcast on the ride the wave.
Uh, well, they actually both do.
Yeah, they do.
and on and on.
Well, I mean, I love both of them.
I love all of you guys.
And I've been watching you guys

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
