(00:05):
Hey there, Just Blanehere with Radio Daybreak.
We got a very serious episodehere, as you can tell.
No, I'm just kidding.
Hey, Happy Holidays to you out there.
Uh, if that's your thing, if you,if you celebrate the holidays.
If you don't, then, uh, There you go,there's a moment of silence for you.
(00:28):
Nobody messed with you.
We do have a serious topic in today'sepisode, but this is a present from Radio
Daybreak from Just Blane and Becks to you.
Now, the serious part of thisis that we worked with an
organization called Promise to Live.
Go to promisetolive.
org.
(00:49):
You'll find out all the incrediblestuff that they're doing.
When we worked with Brandy Vega andPromise to Live, uh, In 2024, incredible
relationship, incredible partnership.
I can't wait to see what else comes outof that, but it's a suicide prevention
and suicide awareness campaign.
Um, we've got two special guests ontoday's episodes that were linked to this
(01:14):
because we went to FanX in Salt Lake Cityand we got to interview tons of people.
And these two are two ofmy favorites right here.
Now, this was a, IanCardoni and Harry Belden.
Now you're probably thinking, who?
Wait, what?
Rick and Morty, people.
Rick and Morty, uh, not the originalvoices for them, but we, we get into
(01:36):
that and they actually took the placeof some pretty iconic voice actors, but
they have some messages of hope also.
So the first interview we'regoing to get to is, uh, it's going
to be, it's going to be Rick.
It's going to be Rick, whichis voiced now by Ian Cardoni.
So here we go.
(01:57):
Let's go.
Let's go take a listen.
thanks.
We are here with Why don't youjust do a little bit of the voice.
Oh, dub dub dub dub!
Yes, it's Ian Cardone.
I play Rick Sanchez.
Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty.
Yes.
I love this show, man.
How much fun is this show to be on?
It's amazing.
I mean, I started off as a fan, so to beable to join the team and voice an iconic
(02:18):
role that, you know, I've been such a fanof for so many years, it's a dream come
true and we're having a blast with it.
Being, like, iconic is That'seven an understatement for
this role though, right?
Definitely, you know, a big undertakingand a lot of work to get to that point
where I can do that voice consistently.
But it's been a blast to takeover the role and I'm excited
to see where the season goes.
What season did you jump on?
(02:38):
Season 7 was my first season.
Yeah, I was going
to ask you how many years.
Sorry.
Yeah, so we're hard at work on thefuture seasons and fans can expect
some more great adventures coming soon.
I can't wait because theadventures that we've seen so
far, it's like, I can't wait.
How crazy can
this get?
And you always go another level.
Every time you think, you know, they'vedone it all, the writers can surprise you.
(03:00):
And what's really fun for us isto be able to pick up that script
and just, you know, have gold onthe page from our writing team.
They're just really amazing stories.
The writing team's gotta beincredible, because those
stories I gotta ask you this.
This will put you on the spot though.
Who's your favorite personto work with on that staff?
Oh,
that's so tough.
Uh, everybody on our teamhas been so welcoming to us.
(03:21):
Especially just as thenewcomers to the show.
Um, our legacy cast havebeen really supportive.
And we're always working with a team.
You know, whenever we're recording, you know, everybody's there.
We got our producers, ourdirectors, our writers, um, are
there to support us as well.
It's been a really great undertaking.
I will say, I'm super glad tobe working with Harry as we
both take over these roles.
Um, he's been an amazing co star.
You know, it's sort of a uniquejourney we've had, so it's
(03:43):
fun to share that with him.
Harry actually looks like
the character he plays.
Well, you know, I'm sure if I gelled myhair and dyed it blue, I could get there.
I'll leave a little droolon my lip next time.
I can achieve it.
Did you love
seeing the cosplay?
It's so fun, yeah.
Just seeing all the, I'veseen a couple already today.
Um, and, uh, it's really fun tosee how fans really get into it.
(04:05):
And it's, uh, yeah.
Now, now, we're, we're weird.
Promise to Live.
Right.
And Promise to Live is for suicideprevention, suicide awareness,
it's a very, very serious topic.
40 seconds.
Every 40 seconds, somebodyloses their life to suicide.
When I heard that stat, I was like,I was like, no, no, no, no, I was
(04:26):
like, that, that can't be right.
It's heartbreaking.
It's shocking.
Now, right around the holidays, thisis also the hope for the holidays,
holidays are hard for people out there.
Do you have a message ofhope for anybody out there?
After that needs to hear something.
And maybe it's something fromyour character, 'cause you
had a, you had an episode.
Um, yeah.
Well as we were saying, you know, thewriters, they, they pull no punches.
(04:47):
They really go to those deep places.
And our hope is that in tackling someof the heavier subject matter out there
with both humor and, and levity andalso, you know, a little bit of pain
and, and showing our characters goingthrough their own emotional grieving and
processes and, and going through therapy.
All of that hopefully provides awindow and, and, um, you know, maybe
an escape if that's what people need.
(05:07):
Um, and you know, as, as Rick wouldsay, I think to live is to risk at
all, and it's brave to take that risk.
And so keep taking that risk to live, stay in this dimension and, and you
know, the adventures are limitless.
Right.
I love that.
Thank you so much.
Man, Ian Cardoni, thank you so much.
(05:28):
Thank you so much and thank youto Promise to Live once again.
But hey, we're not done.
We're not done because right nextto Ian at FanX in Salt Lake City was
Harry Belden, the voice of Morty.
So, we actually got tocatch up with Morty as well.
So, let's go take a listenand see what he's got.
He's got a special message at thevery end that you cannot miss.
(05:51):
Here we go.
Now, Becks, do you know who this is?
Well, clearly, Harry Belden!
But if you'd have done this, you could have talked to them.
Oh,
yeah, there we go.
Oh,
there's the
fool!
There it is, there it is!
Uh, Clay Morty, yeah.
That is awesome.
My heart
just jumped a little bit.
I've
met a lot of people.
You know, you know I'vemet a lot of people.
(06:13):
I've worked with a lot of people.
But when he did it, I just gotlike a butterfly in the head.
Wow, thank you.
Dude, but seriously, this is ahuge role for you to come into.
Yeah.
What season did you come into?
Uh, this most current one, season 7.
Okay.
It's on Hulu and Max.
Yay!
Uh, yeah, uh, yeah, so season7 and uh, uh, and going forward
(06:34):
for however many seasons, yeah.
Infinity.
That's
right, 100 years.
There might be a And otherdimensions, there may be
other episodes, other seasons.
Bring it on.
Right?
Yeah.
I love that, man.
Exactly.
Now, how much fun has this been?
And what has the rest of thecast, maybe the legacy cast,
how have they treated you guys?
Oh, they've been justso amazing, seriously.
Uh, you couldn't ask for, like, more wonderful people, truly.
(06:55):
Um, uh, the cast, the productioncrew, the showrunners, every
single person who works on Rick andMorty is just so incredibly kind.
Like, they really, they welcomed us.
They went out of their way, and youcould tell they were going for it.
Going out of their way to make us feelwelcome, to, to bring us in seamlessly and
make us feel like, uh, we, we, uh, are nowpart of and have been part of that family.
(07:18):
That's gotta be an incredible feelingbecause that's a huge role to step into.
Not only that, but it'sa huge show to step into.
Yeah.
You've got people all over the world.
When they cast new Rick andMorty's, they were ready to
jump on and pounce on you guys.
Oh yeah.
Little bit of competition there.
A little, a little bit from what I heard.
(07:40):
But, I don't see anybody out theretalking, talking trash about it.
Because, you guys stepped into thewrong But I just throw that out there
to you because, that's a huge thing.
Because there's a lot of haters out there.
I call them thumb thugs.
You call them what?
Thumb thugs.
Thumb thugs?
Wait, that's hilarious!
The
Thump
Thugs out there behind me.
I'm going to steal that.
I'm going to steal that.
That's hilarious.
That's so funny.
(08:01):
You don't have to pay me.
I have to
get paid every time.
Thump Thugs.
Thump Thugs.
There's a quarter.
I'll take it.
That's perfect.
Speaking of coins.
Yes.
Speaking of coins.
We do have.
So we are here, as we mentioned, with Promise to Live, which is
Suicide Prevention and Awareness.
We are going to pass this on to you.
This is called a pocket hug.
Blane, tell them a little bit about this.
(08:22):
Pocket hug is for somebody thatneeds to hear something, a message.
Or it's for you to give tosomeone else who needs help.
And on the back of it,it's got a nice message.
And also, if somebody out thereneeds something now, you can read it.
Let's call that out.
So the message on the back of this is,When times are tough and you don't know
what to do, Here's a hug from me to you.
(08:42):
So our initiative with Brandy Vegaand Promise to Live is to give
out 100, 000 of these this year.
And we have already made a dent.
Yeah, I think so.
I mean, here we are, almost October.
Like, we've got a fewof these out right now.
Speaking of October, the holidays are here.
This is Hope for the Holidays.
Yes.
We got Morty.
I know!
(09:02):
Right here.
Now, I know that Morty has a messageof hope for somebody out there that
needs to be talked off that ledge.
Struggling, yes.
It's, it's incredible that somebodyloses their life as much as they do
to something that is as easy as, andI say easy, it's not easy, but it's
really as easy as saying, are you okay?
(09:22):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What kind
of message you got?
Well, and you know, I'm doing this in thefunny Morty voice, but it is, it is real.
So listen up.
You can do this.
You know, I think the mostimportant thing to remember is
that you're never really alone.
(09:44):
Everyone has someone in their livesthat can help them get through whatever
you're going through right now.
You know, I mean, really, like I, youknow, unfortunately I, I know people.
It's horrible, and it's, um,you know, it's preventable.
So, just remember, you'vegot people in your corner.
(10:07):
You might not, you know, it might not seemlike it right this second, but everyone
has that support system in their life, andif you feel like you don't, then seek out
that help, you know, because it's there.
You know, these organizations, you know, other ones, they exist out there for you,
for what you're going through right now.
So, please.
You know, don't, don't give up hope.
(10:28):
And that's what I'll say,
man.
Beautiful.
Thank you so much, Harry.
If anybody out there needshelp right now, dial 9, 8, 8.
It's not that long number.
It used to be.
It's easy to call 9, 8,8 for those resources.
They are there.
Get the help.
Yeah, man.
Morty, thank you so much.
Thank you.
I mean, Harry.
Harry, thank you Harry.
Okay you guys,
thank you for what you do.
Are you kidding me?
(10:49):
Are you kidding me?
He did the voice and everything.
Now, I will tell you this, I'll put adisclaimer out there, uh, the people
who do voices and stuff that, thatshow up at FanX, they don't normally
allow them to do their voices, uh, forcontracts and all that kind of stuff.
But, with that one though, I haveto say that I highly doubt anybody's
(11:10):
gonna come after us and say, Hey,well, you had, you know, Morty's voice.
It's for a good cause, people.
Go listen to that.
I know somebody out thereneeded to hear that.
Uh, right here around the holidaysand just any time of the year.
But go back and listen tothese interviews again.
Can't wait to show you guys whatelse is coming up for Radio Daybreak.
