(00:21):
Hello, everyone, and welcome to Superhero
Slate, the show where we run downthe latest superhero entertainment news.
My name is Chris.
And this week, we've got the trailerfor Marvel
Overwatch clone game called Marvel Rivals.

(00:42):
This was very.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's,
I am, so this is like, the third week in a row.
It feels like we've had a marvel gamereveal kind of going on here.
So, I feel like they're in their, their, their golden slash silver era of gaming.
the Thunderbolts filming is underway

(01:03):
with a walkthrough videofrom one of the actresses,
if you will.
So it's okay.
There's no
there's no spoilers on this, sadly, but we're going to talk about some stuff
we saw on I have a theory.
I have a theory going onlaid on you later.
Spider-Verse gets a new fundraising shortfilm clip.
It's just a short, seven minute thing on YouTube.

(01:25):
and more.
Yes. Yeah.

(01:49):
Well, all the candy deals tomorrow.

(02:12):
So. Oh.
You're welcome.
I bought a package of, Reese's Pieces,
eggs.
So imagine the pieces.
But they're like the larger egg shaped.
Kind of like a like a peanut in minimumsize.
I'm like, that's pretty good.
They're good for, you know, a small dose.
If you're looking for some of those,

(02:35):
There's hardly any chocolate on it,which I think is the best part.
The, the, the the inside of that, that fake peanut butter
to to candy shellratio is pretty, pretty solid actually.
Yes. That my wife also gotI believe it was

(02:55):
is itJolly Ranchers or Starburst or something.
Jelly beans. Skittles jelly beans.
Maybe this year.
she's a big fan of those.
And she's also a huge fan of peeps, which are not my go to candy by any means.
Like, I don't know ifyou're a fan of peeps or not.

(03:28):
Yeah.
Oh, absolutely.
Absolutely.
oh. You I I'm, I'm the other way.
I'm, I'mfor burning marshmallows on a stick.
That's about the,the extent of my marshmallows. Mike.
I don't want them in anything.

(03:49):
I'm not a huge fan of marshmallows,so Rice Krispie treats are really
not even on my, like, realm of,like, things I, I enjoy very frequently.
but I do love burning a marshmallowon a stick.
it's the inner pyro in me that comes out,and I just thoroughly enjoy that.
Yeah, and that's all.

(04:31):
Oh, nice.

(05:01):
Yeah.
It it's a straight horror film.
Like.
It's like the second one is very bombasticin action.
Right?
There's a canal scene in the semi-trucksand all of the action and,
of course, are scary moments as well.
But that first one is truly a horror film.

(05:23):
through and through.
More, more, more so than that.
Second, because that second just goes bigger,
it goes more,it goes all in like a sequel would.
But that first one, people forget how tinyand claustrophobic it is sometimes.
Like, you just don't know what's goingto pop out of the shadows that you're
in that movie.

(05:48):
Oh. Stay sane.
Once in Sam and Sam was it?
I was like, Who is Sam Winston?
Is he? Oh.
Yeah.
Yeah.

(06:09):
It we'll we'll swap it out on a cutand everything.
Yeah, it was.
Yep. I.

(06:34):
I love everyone's,
view in the 80s ofof how a dystopian future was, like.
They're tall, building.
Like, if you look at Blade Runner,
you look at Terminator, you look at, like, alien.
Even, like, two of those are changed here.
But like, everyone's view of, like, adystopian future was all the same, right?
It was rainy, it was dark, it was cities.

(06:55):
And there was technology that we stilldon't even have to this day everywhere,
kind of things.
And I know the Terminator, like,
I think one had a little bitof the future, right
when Kyle Reesewas talking about the future,
and stuff like that.
So, I mean, I justI just love everyone. Just agreed.
Like the silent agreement.Yeah. The future's going to be shit.
And here's what it's going to look likefor everybody,

(07:16):
along the way, but, Yeah.
No, that's that's, that's a funthat's a fun one to go back to,
you know, my God.
Yeah.
Yeah,
yeah.
Yeah.
Mike probably tired of metalking about this, already,

(07:36):
but I bought that Laserdisc playerand literally two of the Lazarus I bought
were Terminator one and two this weekbecause,
they they just came out in that timeframe, right where everyone was trying
to get home releases, all that fun stuff.
I did not ask you, though.
I did get, a lot of the James Bond moviesand friend of the show, Brian.
I actually FaceTimed him
because he's one of the biggest JamesBond fans I know, like Retro Bond.

(08:00):
and I'm like, Brian, tell me which ones
I should get out of this collectionbefore I bought the collection.
and he gave me a list of old bonds.
Do you have any old bond moviesin the Connery?
Roger Moore era that stick out to you?
That you were like, yeah, I itso I didn't watch a lot growing up.
I didn't really get to bond until DanielCraig kind of came through myself.

(08:46):
Another one?
okay. So.
Yeah.

(09:10):
Well.
Then then you'll be glad to know.
I got GoldenEye.
Then I was the only onethat's not a Roger Moore.
one or, Sean Connery. One.
because, boy, those old ones feel sexist.
Boy, they feel so sexist when you lookat them, womanizing through and through.
but, yeah.
No, I'mlooking forward to take take on that.

(09:30):
and before we get into our topics, for the week, because Mike's
talking about he's going to talk aboutI watch, in theaters this weekend.
don'tforget to like and subscribe our video
if you're on YouTube or anywhere. Really.
We're trying, to put ourselves out therein so many different places, for this. So.
But Saturday, Mike,I was able to take part in
what I believe is the biggest, domestic.

(09:52):
Or maybe it was global, opening of the year so far.
Godzilla, Kong.
new empire.
It's a new empire. Yeah.
Not frozen.
And part ofthat was Ghostbusters. New empire.
in theaters this weekend.
I went at a 10:00 in the morning showing.
Mike, have you ever been to a 10 a.m.showing on a movie?
Or at least recently?
Yeah.

(10:15):
There's
no one in line in the concession standsthat popcorn's fresh that
you see him popping itright there in front of you kind of thing.
I got myself a Coke Zero.
My Twizzlers.
That's my go to watch this, with a couple people.
what was surprising about this movie,Mike, is.
Oh, like I said, it is so far,it beat Dune so far for opening so,
the story I have the story ofthis tells me is people, like, watching,

(10:39):
dumb action movies.
Still, I think, you know,I saw Ghostbusters.
I don't think I have a strong of anopening last weekend, but Godzilla Kong,
definitely did,because it's a continuation of,
again, the Godzilla franchise.
The Kong franchise.
and what I will tell you, Mike, didyou enjoy Godzilla versus Kong last time?

(11:00):
when it came out?
Okay.
So, I believe
when we talked about Godzilla vs Kong,it was it was during the pandemic.

(11:20):
It came out on HBO Max.
Same time as in theaters.
So we were lucky we didn't.
We didn't have to pay for anythingbecause we already had a max subscription.
so that that was a probably helped that.
But we always said we need more monsterfights, right?
Like we watched it, you know?
But it's just a lot of,
a lot of humans, a lot of like, just dull, like dragged on moments.

(11:41):
I will tell you, they took those lessonsto heart, Mike, because they're a monster,
fightsafter monster fights after monster fights.
In this movie, there are whole sectionswhere no dialog is spoken
or humans are seen because it's about thethe huge beast, Godzilla and King Kong
and the the other Titans, if you will, above and below Earth in this movie.

(12:03):
so I think that's great.
There's actually, I don't know if youremember, it was in the Kong Skull Island.
there's like a tribe of people on SkullIsland who, like, worship Kong.
they, they make a reappearance in this.
And the the thing about that tribe wasthey don't talk.
They have no languagelike verbal language.
So they were so intent onnot making people talk in this movie,

(12:28):
they use another culturethat has no verbal language whatsoever.
like, they they were like,we don't want people to ruin this movie
because people just, you know, last timeit was just bogged down
with all that stuff.
And it was weird, like it just kind ofruined the momentum this time.
There are like four main charactersother than the kaiju.

(12:49):
Rebecca Green, Dan Stevens, you know, your Dance of Legion fame?
Yeah, he he's a he's a great guy.
Brian Tyree Henry shows back up.
He's the, Well, I would call this versionthis this this shows
podcast here in the blogon kaiju and stuff in the last one.
and then, a little
girl that the girl who was on Skull Islandlast time, and Kong.

(13:12):
That's it.
Other than that, there's hardlyanybody other humans in this movie, Mike.
That's how much they were like,we're taking it down.
We're bringing it back down to the monsterfights.
And, I will say a couple of the,you know, it starts off
with an action scene and Hollow Earth, and then you get some stuff with Godzilla.
Godzilla?
He is just a fucking beastin this movie, man.

(13:33):
Like, he just goes for it like, it's it'skind of brutal and in some cool way.
So, I had a good time.
This is not going to change your mindif you are.
If you if you're on the fence of GodzillaKong movies,
this isn't going to change your mind.
But they doubled down on what worked.
And rather than sticking like, hey,
we want to bring more humans inand show the human side of this story.

(13:55):
It's not about that.
It's not about itat all. It's about the monsters.
And we know, and they know that. And they they really give it to us. So,
Yeah.

(14:18):
It's free now.
I'm kidding.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But it's definitely worth the stream.
It's definitely worth the free stream.

(14:39):
Yeah.

(14:59):
Ghostbusters.
I mean, I thought Ghostbusters wouldactually give it a run for its money.
If I'm going to be completely honest.

(15:23):
Yeah.
There was no ecto cooler.
That's why if you don't have Ecto cooleryou're doomed to fail.
It was going to be Captain America
I believe last time before it was moved.

(15:46):
Well I don't think
Civil War was, but Winter soldier was,
I believe, youknow, Black Panther was February.
They kind of mix in the springa little bit there with some of them
historically.

(16:16):
Yeah.
I'm taking a look here.
I really thought, you know.
Yeah, I, I agree with you, Dune.
I think Kung Fu Panda four is out, even though that's not, you know, in
our wheelhouse, if you will.
Ghostbusters.
Godzilla.
I can't even think of anythingI saw in the theater, Mike.
when I was in there, like promotionsor posters for anything else.
When we walked in.

(16:36):
so, yeah, I, I don't it'sjust one of those things like it's doing
is doing the right thingsand I don't other we were talking about
before the show, we what is the next moviewe need to watch in theaters
other than I would say, like I said,Deadpool to you, I'm like, what's next?
I don't even know what's coming right of
for for the next couple months.

(17:03):
I. Oh, that's that's a, that's a may.
When I saw thatthat would that a trailer for that.
It's a May 1st.
guy Ritchie's the Ministryof Ungentlemanly Warfare is in April.
which I.

(17:26):
Oh, yeah.
That's that's that's true.
I forgot about that.
That'll that'll be saving mea movie ticket.
I'm trying to think trailers I watched,
bad boys movies.
And there's another one of thosecoming out, and that might be summer.

(17:48):
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.

(18:09):
Oh. Yeah.
Yeah. It.
Yeah.
there was that is, two horror films.
Was it the,

(18:30):
the first omen and The Watchers, which is the next Shyamalan movie or not?
It's not him.
Night ShyamalanI think it's, it's a relation.
is a Night Shyamalan is doing that,
Oh. Despicable me. Yeah, there it is.
That's the that's the one coming out inMay that that people are doing.
So, yeah.
I've just not seen a lot, you know, goingon, but but I had a good time with this.

(18:52):
I'm glad I got to see it.
again. Matinee.
It was fun toto watch it in the theaters, with that.
But on the other part this week, Mike, you've asked me no fewer than four times.
Have you caughtthe new episode of X-Men 97?
And I can say confidently,as of this recording, yes, I have.
I've watched episode three of X-Men 97.

(19:14):
Yeah, well, I had, other than I had
some personal issues that were unexpectedto take care of most of the week.
and then,
yeah, finally we were able to watch itonce we everything kind of calmed
down, this weekend.
So, Yes.

(19:43):
Yeah, it.
Yes. And it, again
on Disney Plus, you know, we're two weeksin, three episodes out.
I have before we begin, Mike, anecdotal evidence from,
a listener of the friend, listening to show and friend Luke.
He said, he he texted me earlier.

(20:04):
He says, his wife loved X-Men 97.
So we're three for three on wivesenjoying X-Men 97.
Yes. Yeah, absolutely.

(20:27):
but I wouldn't have put some timecodes in here, Mike.
So let's go ahead and get into episodethree discussion,
because I'm going to tell you,I'm just going to preface this.
Okay.
Last week I asked you, Mike, you want me to tell you
what this episode is going to be about?
And you said no.
It and,
we we started watching itand I said, I told my wife earlier,

(20:48):
I'm like, you,let me tell you what's gonna happen.
She's like, okay, sure.
She's like, did you read about mine?
I'm like, no, I can tell you right away.
After the end of last week,I know exactly what's going to happen.
I told her, I said this, this character's name is Madelyn Pryor,
and they have a child.
Yeah,

(21:09):
yeah. There's spoilers. So? So.
Okay, I'll put the spoiler thing.
So. So this this is,
and this is taken straight from the comicbooks from the 1980s.
Okay.So none of this is brand new information.
All of this is identicalfrom the comic books.
mind you rushed, right?
Because we're we're dealingwith a 20 minute timeline.
the last episode ends with a, Jean gray
coming to the door of the mansion whilethere's already Jean gray in the mansion.

(21:32):
Who's the clone? What's going on here?
We come to find out
it's all machinations of Mister Sinister, which is in the title.
I love Mister Sinister.
I think he's a cool design character.
I really am sad we never got him inlive action, but at the same time,
I'm kind of glad we didn't.
Yeah.

(21:54):
Yeah.
As if the Nathaniel Essex Corporation.
Because his name was Nathaniel Essex.
Yeah.
Yeah.

(22:20):
But it's.
Well, he.
So he is from the 1800s.
he's very, very old, because he'sbeen putting mutant genes in his genes.
But I would say he's like a vaudevillian,like,
kind of goth, like vaudevilleand goth kind of mixed together, right?
Like, he's very dramatic in his,like, he's

(22:40):
got these things that come off his backthat go up and down, like.
Like they're not fringe, they're not frills.
What are they kind of thing.
and he's got, you know, pale skinwith the diamond on his head.
So like when you see Mister Sinister, you know who Mister Sinister is,
and he's in the cloning. So, Absolutely.
I was able to call this episode, you know, before we get into full spoilers

(23:01):
to my wife before starting to, like, how did you know this?
I'm like, this is from the 1980s.None of this is new.
This is all identical for for this Mike.
So, you you've
you've made a thumbnail here for me thatit's very confusing for Chris, to look at.
I don't know what you're thinking.
I don't know what you're feeling, but you've asked me so many times, Mike.
I got to knowwhat's your. Take this on this?

(23:31):
Okay. Oh.
Thank God. Okay.
Yeah.
Okay. So.

(24:12):
Gambits.
Too cool to wear a crop top.
yeah.
I guess.

(24:39):
This is where every every.
It. Yeah.

(25:11):
Oh, yeah. I I.
It as as a young child,I had a fascination
with redheaded women, Mike.
And I can tell you it was probablyfrom X-Men that did it to me.
along the way.
but, yeah, this this episode sets upa very important character.

(25:34):
Do you know who the child of,
Scott Summers and Madeline Prior is?
Yeah.
Hmhm.
Yeah.
Yeah.

(25:54):
He's two brothers.
Havoc.
Yeah.
So, in this episode,
it's a very rushed version of it, but,
Mister Sinister is trying to createthe perfect mutant.
Make him invincible because of, you know, the summer's DNA and Gene Gray's, DNA.

(26:19):
you know, puts him in this, gets a technoorganic virus.
This child is sent to the future.
Who comes from the future later in X-Men.
Mike cable.
Cable is Nathan.
His name is Nathan Summers.
So we just got to seethe creation of, cable
and that I've used in the comic books.
Yeah.
So, when you see cable in the comic booksnow, don't use Deadpool

(26:42):
two as an example. That's a whole different cable.
But, in the comic books, yeah, he theyhe is the child of,
Jean gray cloneMadeleine Pryor and Scott Summers,
and that's how he gets his technoorganic viruses from Mr.
Sinister trying to, manipulate himas a child before he was sent off,
to the future toto to control his powers and, you know,
become the person that wewe know as a time traveling badass.

(27:04):
Really, at the end of the day,
what was interesting, this is we got tosee the original morph face, and this is.
Well, I don't know if you caught that
when morph uses the original face, because in the original series,
you think he dies in the first episode, but he's actually captured by Mr.
Sinister and experimented on.
so that's a throwbackto the original show.
and, we, Bishop, who has been around for a little bit,

(27:26):
you find out why he's been around his timetraveling bracelet's broken.
So Bishop is also sent off at the end.
I thought Bishop powering upby Cyclops was awesome.
whatever he's like, just load me up with energy.
I'm going to shoot all these demons down.

(27:47):
Yeah.
Yeah. The.

(28:17):
Yeah.
The the.
The color.
Like, not just her color butthe color of the stained glass as well.
And whenever like, it looks like a rainbowof shards coming down on a magneto.
You know, her purple and green colors, mixing together to show her powers.
And then, like, when she's controlling other people,
morph actually transforms into magicat one point.

(28:38):
And then, when he becomes under control of,
the Goblin Queen, he reverts into,
Magic's demon form, which is Dark Child, which
we'll talk about here in a little bit, butlike, yeah, I like everything about it.
Again, the show is firing on all cylinders here.
Just three episodes in still, to to toimpress us, really at the end of the day.

(29:00):
And then it gets into that really, you know,
I would say similar to DoctorStrange body and mind.
Who's the personwho's the spirit kind of thing?
into some heavy material. Right.
Like Jean Gray's power is manifesting
the loss of her friend, you know, the birth of their child.
Who's the real Jean gray?
Who's the real mother? What's going on here?
It was some real heavy stuffthere at the end.

(29:22):
before that.
Was. Yeah.

(29:49):
Who was who and what?
Yeah. When was a real place?
Yeah, exactly.
Oh, yeah. Yes.

(30:36):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.

(30:56):
That.
Oh, yeah.
Oh well I,
I think, you know,
with the reaction of this, you go, you dive into that 90s animation
and you go with,I would say the more popular show
and that's the,the Spider-Man animated Spider-Man.
Right. From, from the 90s.

(31:17):
Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, if, if,if I had the unlimited money
that Marvel essentially has
and the ability to say, look, we've done this, you know,
the formula is to don't breakor don't fix it if it's not broken.
Right. Continue. Dive in there.I know they had what was it?
There was an amazing the Spider-Man.

(31:37):
It was an amazing Spider-Man,
show.
but they had a continuation.
What was that callthat had like a sequel, though?
Yeah.
Like it does something different. Like.Yeah, it feels different. Right.
Because I think there was like a,like a quote unquote sequel,

(31:57):
and it might have beenjust like a spiritual sequel, even.
but yeah, you goyou go tap into that immediately
and you like, okay, let's get likethe production started on this.
Now they don't have to announce it.
If it doesn't work.
And, you know, in the productioncycle, don't do it, don't follow it.
But youyou should tap into the most popular,

(32:18):
I would say even more popularthan X-Men was Spider-Man.
Like, I remember playing, Spider-Manand like, animated short
video games in the 90s, rightunder my Nintendo 64, stuff like that.
I don't rememberplaying X-Men games like this.
So I think you go into that and yougo into it hard, if you will, for that.
Now, there were other showswe talked about this a little bit

(32:38):
before a couple, a couple weeks ago, maybe a week or two ago.
But, I'm trying to think, what was it?
There was a Fantastic Four.
do you remember anything else in that era?

(33:16):
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah.
I crossovers. Absolutely.
I it was Spider-Man unlimited by the way.
I just looked it up.
so but like there was a Silver Surfershow, an incredible Hulk show.
Fantastic version and Iron Man show.
I don't think you need to do that.I think I agree with you.
They don't need individual shows, butmaybe they work towards, like you said,

(33:40):
an Avengers kind of team up show or.
Like what?
How do we bring some of these peopletogether into, like, a short run team up,
you know, whenever this is kind of runits course right after a couple seasons,
I think that would be interestingto see them.
But yeah, actuallybring the Fantastic Four into this.
you know, Iron Man, Silver Surfer is greatbecause there's obviously,

(34:01):
you know, X-Men stuff in space.
the the Hulk, the Hulk, Iron Man.
Fantastic.
We're kind of kind of going Spider-Manin my head a little better, but yeah,
I think you just you just tap into thatlike the a smart person,
which I believe Kevin Feigeis, would do this because that is what you
need to do to to kind of tap to,to be to be successful, to ride this wave.

(34:22):
Right.
Like, to, to say, hey, look, we're listening to the people.
We're bringing the people show to themat the end of the day.
So, is that what you thatyou mean your green pants?
What you do with us?You just add more, like.
Okay, cool.
Well, we'll keep coming back for the next,I guess what, seven weeks.
Six weeks for more X-Men 97.
If we have anything. Update, I would say.

(34:43):
I would probably saythe last three episodes are part one, two,
and three of a single story.
We probably wait to the end of that, but we'll see if anything's cool.
Along the way.
moving along,
Mike, I know you are a Hulu DisneyPlus, package subscriber.
Correct.
If I if I'm not wrong.
Now, did your app get merged into oneDisney Plus app this week

(35:04):
with everyone else?
Okay.
The green and blue.
Yeah.

(35:30):
As long as.
Yeah.
Well, I

(35:52):
it's.
Well, from my understanding, they've use click on Disney Plus
and then it tells you Disney Plus and Huluand you pick
which oneyou go into at the end of the day.
So it was more of a it's not storefrontbut I guess like a landing page for apps
if you will, kind of thing.
ideally they get to the pointwhere you pay for one,
but I don't we don't pay for Hulu,so I just want the Disney Plus version.

(36:13):
So hopefully they can keep them separate.
But I don't know, I get as someonewho doesn't use either of these,
or both of them.
Just one of them I don't under.
I want to know how the experiencesfor people.
I didn't knowif you'd had that experience yet.
diving into that app and having to pick,oh, I want to go to the Hulu land.
I want to go toDisney Plus land at all. So.

(36:39):
Gotcha.
Yeah, I my X-Box app is also updatedto that new new color scheme,
scheme as well.
So, I do know that they're pushingthat all around
Marvel rivals game
that was surpriseannounced this earlier this week.
we got a teaser. Hey,we're announcing the game tomorrow.
Then the game was announcedthe next morning,

(37:01):
with the trailer of not knowing anything. What it was.
nobody knew really thing about this, but apparently they've been doing some
early openalpha or now open closed alpha testing.
for some people.
We've got some screenshots to share here, but it is a six V6,
game, coming out next year tentatively.
And they will have alpha signupsalready open that.

(37:21):
So you can do the alpha in May.
But this is essentiallywhat people are calling.
And I agree with Overwatch or Valorant.
clone.
We're using Marvel teamups in destructive environments.
Now, Overwatchis a 66 game where you pick,
I think it's actually is five five now,
where you pick a character who has a classlike there's a tank, an attacker,

(37:41):
a healer like you have,
you know, like a specific role to play,if you will, on the team.
And then you, either,
kill the other team for kills or you move.
you stay with an item, like, like a, I guess,
I don't know, like a it's not a train, but this item and it moves forward.
The closer you are to it,the more it moves forward.
So the other team has to to kill the otherteam to keep it from moving forward.

(38:05):
You have to kill them.
So it keeps moving forward kind of deal.
very strategic.
Very you know, you pick a main characterand usually plays them a lot of the time.
So you're really good with them.
Overwatch two launched, a yearor two years ago for free,
but it had a real, real bossrelease based on how they did
the character release and stuff like that.
So it's not been doing very well.

(38:25):
Like you said, you might have accidentallyplayed Overwatch at some point.
and. Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely, I get it.
I played a lot of Overwatch.
Like I don't even have like a Funko
of one of the charactersI played a lot of still over my gaming.
So I'm a I'm a big Overwatch fan.
So, again, if the the rule isif it ain't broke, don't fix it.

(38:47):
So essentially just do Overwatchwhich is got killer gameplay.
Put my favorite IP over top of it.
Sign me up. I'm down to play this.
currentlythe alpha will be for PC slash steam,
but, it'll probably come to consolesand it is free to play.
That was the other big part, Mike.
I think that's going to be a good, easyentry, right?
Sell skins,

(39:08):
you know, or whatever.
You know,do the the shop like a Fortnite does.
You don't have to buy it.
But if you want to look cool, buythe skins kind of thing.
I think that'll be interesting.
But the the cool thing for meis the launch roster, characters.
I didn't expect designs.
I didn't expect for characters. These are all very unique.
There's not movie
or comic book based, but,a lot of interesting mix of people here.

(39:30):
Mike, I know you you even said, like, who is one of these characters?
As we were kind of going through it.
Yes. So Luna Snow,
was a character who came out, in,
it was a I think it was a game,a couple, a couple years ago.

(39:52):
she's she's a North Koreanor not North Korean, sorry, South Korean
base character.
And she has the ability to control, you know, cold and snow stuff.
So, so she, she has that, those abilities.
let me see here.
I'm trying to figure out.

(40:14):
That's Korean.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Yes. So, she
she also is a a K-pop singer as her, human personality.

(40:34):
And they actually, created, songs for her, like, appearances in the games.
Marvel future for Marvel Super War.
so, yeah, she's she's cool.
She's just got ice powers, and she's,she was created around 2019.
other than that, Nam War
has a really interesting design where he'skind of, like, got, like an attitude.
Like a surfer attitude to him.

(40:56):
If you look at the images, here arethe one image I've linked in the notes.
you know,
we've got some interestingwe talked about magic earlier.
We have magic in here, Magneto.
storm, you know, some guardians?
oh. These these all look pretty cool,I think, a Penny Parker
slash spider from the acrossthe Spider-Verse is interesting, and,

(41:18):
but she controls a mech,so that's kind of fitting.
And in here, there's a, like, drawn out.
Drawn out to you in terms of designed.

(41:56):
Yeah.
Like.

(42:28):
Like.

(43:13):
You know.
Like. Say.

(43:40):
I don't I don't.
Know.
Yeah.
Yeah.

(44:08):
One of the
places.
Yeah.
I would say the, Well,I my disappointment on
this is when you announced the game and, like, us coming out next, a year away.
Like, I'm instantly outbecause I like the hype level.

(44:28):
If I can play this sooner than laterthan. Yes.
Like, don't wait and say, hey, you can look at this now.
In a year, the game industry in a yearis going to be entirely different, right?
Like what we play now, what we play in the year,
what we play in two yearsis, is going to be interesting.
I sent you earlier this weekin Call of Duty Warzone.
They've addedCheech and Chong skins, next month.

(44:49):
when we were playing Warzone in 2021,
22, I never would have thought,oh, yeah, they're going to do a Cheech
and Chong crossover.
Yeah, right. So,
the gaming thing just changes so quickly.
So I think the delay is the worst part.
I will say one of the interesting thingsis it's a multiversal war.
Essentially, doctor,
the story's two doctor dudesfrom different universes are fighting,

(45:12):
opening up different universes.
So if you don't like these charactersor these designs,
there will be opportunities, I'm sure,to buy more recognizable ones, or ones
from the comic books, or even more, you know, unique ones, if you will.
Along the way.
Yeah.
But, but because it isin these two universes

(45:33):
that are not technically in the comicsor movies, they do have the luxury of,
again, designing them how you want,or how they want to a little bit.
They look,
you know, again, like they would fit in tome, I would say more than Valorant.
It's more like
Apex Legends designs a little bit,if you would, in some of these characters.
just kind of
how I don't know if it's the angles,the colors, the poses, I don't know.

(45:57):
I haven't really figured it out yet,but I'm interested in this.
All the people also called out, again,as you mentioned.
yeah, they will probably be addingcharacters over time.
Where is Captain America?
Where's the war? Where's the popular ones?
But you know, you know, the factthat we are getting the game with magic
or and like rocket as a, as a standalonecharacter, despite its short stature, I'm
very excited forfor those opportunities to play it.

(46:20):
And even if it's freeand you don't spend any money on skins, it
shuts down in 18 months.
It's still free.
That that's the cool part about this.
the other thing that this game hasis the other game.
So I have is team ups,and you can kind of see it in the trailer.
an example, a well known example is RocketRaccoon is able to jump on Groot's back
and shoot from him.
So you get like a two at the same time.

(46:40):
There's, I think an image on the sitewhere Bruce Banner as the Hulk,
is able to give gamma
radiation to Iron Man to charge up his,you know, beam reactor, as a team up.
So I'm excitedto kind of see how some of these team ups
kind of play together throughout that. So,
check out that trailer in our show notesand check out the roster,

(47:02):
there as well, another video that came out this week.
It's not a spoilery video, but,you know, it's obviously a very curated,
promotional release video,if you will, for Thunderbolts.
came out, Florence Pugh's own video stuff.
And then it was sharedthe Marvel. So, you know, it's real.
It's not like, oh,we accidentally filmed it.

(47:23):
so she's on set filming Thunderbolts.
So that confirms that Thunderboltis in production, which is cool. It
also shows the title has an Asterix now,
which was an interesting touch on that.
which kind of maybe gives me the possible, like they're indicating that this is
just a stable, like a standing titleuntil they can change it later.

(47:44):
Maybe,
because the
Thunderbolts are essentially runby Thunderbolt Ross, John
Ross, who is now played by HarrisonFord in the MCU.
But Harrison Ford isn't in this movie.
So why are they calling itthe Thunderbolts?
oh. Hopefully the title makes sense later.
I don't know.

(48:26):
All right.
Secret Avengers I mean,it's like a secret Avengers kind of thing.
Like.
Yeah.
Know.
Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, I can't think of a title wherean asterix doesn't mean something, but,
like, knowing that this is an asterix,it just the a thin font.

(48:49):
Thunderbolts, asterix on these like directors cheers.
Or an actress here tells me like,oh, this is just temporary.
That's what it feels like.
Like this is just a placeholder untilyou know something comes out of this,
down the road.
Now, one of the things they didn'treally show anything on this,
you know, it was very carefullycalculated and filmed.
but it looks like it's in,like an underground, like, maybe like,

(49:10):
you know, shield or or not Hydra, but, like, you know, one of those facilities
that the government facilitywho's running the superhero stuff is and,
you know, rumor was alwaysthat the sentry was going to be found
in, like, a bunker somewhere.
So maybe this is the scene
where they're finding the sentryfor the first time in the in the movie.
So, I don't know, I there's really nothingI can pull out of this.

(49:33):
I even watched videos of, like, they're trying to break it down.
They're like, yeah,
this is very carefully calculatedto not really reveal anything at all.
But, Florence Pugh, a great actress, you know,
riding high off, Dune part two.
And, you know, other things
she's been in so kind of a smart, smart marketing move overall.

(49:53):
blade
little quick update on this, the production weekly.
I think it's like a magazine or like a,
online report.
Now, they don't really magazines, says, that they're shooting for a fall time
frame for production this yearfor 25 to meet that 2025 release date.
So sounds like things are movingwell behind the scenes now
for this.

(50:20):
You know.
Yeah, I, you
know, this, this movie still feels, surreal,
since it's was announcedfive years ago at Comic-Con.
So maybewe'll actually get, them to shoot it
and then release it, in time for,for late, late next year.
On the flip side of that, one of the for Fantastic Four,
the Scoopers are out there

(50:41):
saying that the movie takes placein an alternate universe,
and it ends with it coalescingin the Secret Wars with the universes.
tying together.
I think I pitched this as,like, an idea a couple months ago.
Maybe.
so I, I can't say
maybe they're listening to our showand stealing our ideas.
or, you know, it's completelyit can be completely wrong.

(51:01):
And people are just saying that because
there's, like, hardlyany news out of Fantastic Four, right?
We everyone wants to know what it is.
We all want to see it in actionother than the artwork,
but I've not really heard anythingconcrete out of this movie yet.
Like,
wouldit was an alternate universe Fantastic
Four where it just ends, and then they're all in Secret Wars

(51:22):
and they come out into one universeat the end.
Bother you?
You think?
Are you just like, yes, fine.
Yeah.

(51:51):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.

(52:12):
Do they have.
Do they even have a Captain America? Yeah.
Yeah.
I think it would help alleviate, you know, again, we get to the point
in the MCU where continuity is is king.
But how do you retroactively go back 50,60 years
now, right, without throwing a wrench in everything?
But I think it's possible

(52:33):
with the right story in the right, the right, right verse.
But like, you know, at the same time,
as long as it's a good movie,I don't care where they set.
At the end of the day,we just want a good one.
I'm going to put this under DaredevilBorn Again
because I don't know where to put it.
But, Finn Jones on his InstagramStories has shared a picture of him,
with a book of the, travel bagwith a never ending story, some clothes

(52:54):
and a copy of the final issue of Powerman, that iron fist.
Mike.
is he teasing a return to Iron Fist?

(53:19):
Yeah.
Yeah. We.
Will, we have talked about, you know, with the Netflix shows,
now in canon with the MCUDaredevil filming, he could technically

(53:39):
make an appearance brieflyas Iron Fist with Luke Cage, right?
Like, just just a blink and you miss itkind of thing.
Or very small sceneto reference all that stuff?
because in Shang-Chi two
we talked about a couple of weeks ago,the wreckage of time, about using
a different iron fist completely, either from the future or the past.

(54:00):
so literally it would bemaybe his last time
to be that characterbefore they completely erased him forever.
kind of going forward.
Yeah.
It it was his last issue, ofof being Iron Fist.

(54:20):
yeah, I guess I think, you know, the less you have of that,
that part, the better everybody elseis there.
But, like,if they're bringing everyone together
to kind of acknowledge it,if they're just for, they had a,
they had a dinner, they had a flashbackscene, you know, where's everybody at now?
Well, you know, Danny's out chasing this,
the mythical land of Canaan or whatever.

(54:42):
And we don't we see him hiking upa mountain, and that's all we see of them.
I think that's fine, too.
I just don't want multiple,
scenes or returns of his character,if you will.
Spider man for my boy.
This movie, I feel, is elusive, right?
This isthis is going to be the hard one to crack.
there are some updates this week

(55:02):
that says the script is still in progresswithout any director or start date.
I feel that's a good sign, right?
We've neverwe've not been given a release date, but
if you haven't committed to anything,no one can get fired.
And you can't mess it up if you don'tcommit to anything from the start.
so that's great.
Especially with Sony's hugewin this year with Madame Web.

(55:25):
which had a on its trailerscome out this week.
Did you watch that?
Not the trailers for it.
I didn't realize that the first timeI watched it.
but they brought up how hard it is for,
Dakota Johnson to opena Pepsi can in that movie.
for they only gave her one.
And there are so many scenesof her fumbling with that Pepsi cam,

(55:48):
which was wild.
So, check that out if you have the chance.
But, you know,
as long as
they're taking their time with Spidermanfor it, that's perfectly fine with me.
My guess is that this will releasebetween the Avengers films,
or be the first movie after Secret Wars.
I think Tom Holland hassigned on for Secret Wars.
you know,
if not the Qing dynasty, but definitely Secret Wars.

(56:09):
But, you know, Iwe don't need to rush this movie out.
I don't think it's going to add anythingto the multiversal scale deal.
before you.

(56:35):
Right after.
like.
You know.
Firebomb? Yeah.
Know? Yep.

(57:04):
Well, it came out after Eternals.
but it it essentially had a huge finalefor Spider-Man,
and then Doctor Strange followed itup, so.
Yeah, it.

(57:25):
Yeah.
Right. It.
Yeah.
That, And then that.
And that's fine with me.
I think you the thing is,you know, the Spider-Man three,

(57:46):
literally,I think was the biggest component
that doctor change or the biggesttentpoles for the Multiverse Saga, right?
Yeah.
I don't think that's disagreeablethat the Loki show.
So, like, by having Spider-Manbe a huge part of this,
you can let them restfor the rest of the the,
I guess, phases
until you have your big events, and then he can do a small story
because we ended Spider-ManNo Way Home with a very,

(58:09):
very small story like kick offSpider-Man himself by himself again.
Let's let's live with that a little bit.
Well, he doesn't need to go huge,so I think I think it'll be fun.
speaking of spider man, the Spider-Verse
movie, did you know this weekendwas going to be the original weekend?
That, the third Spider-Versemovie was supposed to come out?

(58:32):
Yeah, it does feel about. Right.
So that's sadthat we didn't get that, but,
Sony released this weeka short called The Spider Within.
It's a short film.
or movie or whateveryou want to call it on YouTube that was,
created in collaboration with the KevinLove Fund for Mental Health Awareness.
So this is a little video about Miles lifedealing with the heavyweights

(58:55):
of being a superhero, being Spider-Man,being a son, being in school,
everything that's on his mindas a young teenager and,
you know, coming homeand how they deal with that.
And what does that really manifestitself as?
it brings back the original voiceactors, for Miles and his dad,
and it's really, you know, well done.

(59:16):
Short video. And then on the YouTube page,it has a fundraiser.
So if you want to donate to the KevinLove Fund for mental Health awareness,
you can do so right from the page.
So while it doesn't affect Miles storyin any way,
it is great to usesuch a popular character,
as a platform to speak to the youth about, you know, the,
not dangers of mental health, but like, what can you do to to to be

(59:38):
help yourself, right.
Don't be afraid to talk aboutit at the end of the day.
so if you want to check that out, that's great.
I'm going to probably actuallygive it to my wife to take to her school.
She teaches fifth graders and, you know, like, hey, you know, you ever want
to use Spider-Man as a way to to say, hey, it's okay to feel overwhelmed.
It's okay to want to talk about problemsin your life.

(59:59):
this is you should show this offbecause it was really cool,
but it looks just like Spider-Verse.
So, you know,if you're looking for Spider-Verse, fix
this is the way to do it.
At the end of the day,
Mike crispy is one of my favorite eventsbecause he always forget about it, right?
We always call it Brazil Comic-Con.
but the first ever CC xpMexico is happening in May,

(01:00:21):
so we're going to have a may Comic-Con MCand it's going to be the first one.
So they have somenew badges here for this.
so, you can see the boys.
There's a couple of the boysones, but, cc exp Mexico, coming out.
that means since it's the first oneand it's so big,
it's it'scountry is named after a country, right.

(01:00:41):
I think we're going to see a lot of stuffcome out in May that we didn't
normally get before for this.
Is North America, but, the Latincountries, Latin speaking countries,
if you will.

(01:01:04):
It's the CinemaCon and also KCP in Brazil.
So yeah.
Yeah it's a great.
Yes absolutely.
We're going to be coming back for that
probably full coverage I'm veryvery excited to to see what comes out.

(01:01:25):
You know the boys I rememberwhen we went to again San Diego Comic-Con.
And the boys was there as their first bigappearance before the show debuted. How?
Well, that's how big that's become andhow much that has grown since its launch.
So if the boys feel likethis is a place to be,
Amazon feels it's a great place for them.
We'll we'll be there covering that.
Not really be there, but we'll be here covering there.

(01:01:45):
Yeah.
You get Lastly, invincible season two.
it's in the back half of season two.
Mike, are you going to wait and binge it?
I assume you've not been keeping upweekly.
I guess.

(01:02:07):
Yeah.
That.

(01:02:30):
Yeah.
Well, be preparedto forget some more voice cast, Mike,
because Ezra millerhas been recast in season two.
after all his troubles and controversies.
and those are been several yearsnow, right?
you know, for, for them.
So they have not been in trouble recently,
but I'm sure they recorded this years agofor invincible.

(01:02:51):
Right?
They do the voice recordingwell before they put it to animation.
So, they voice the villainous D.A.
Sinclair for, in the show, and they have been replaced in season two.
I don't know who replaced them.
I've not followed enough, but,I thought it was interesting,
because, as you mentioned, the voice castin invincible is just top notch.

(01:03:13):
They bring out the bestfor even the littlest roles, right?
Even the small, inconsequential piecesof this.
And I'm familiar.
Invincible has been followingthe comic book version pretty well.
Some people have sent me some scenesfrom the latest episodes, to watch
because, obviously it is a very, gruesomeshow at points, right?

(01:03:33):
Very gross, very kind of boyish, even at some points.
So, in terms of violence, blood, gore and,
it will probably keep doing thatfor the rest of the season.
Season two is not over yet, sothere's still some episodes to drop by so.
We can, I still haven't watched itbecause I've read the books,
so I probably just need to sit downand binge it sometime when I can.

(01:03:55):
that's the show for this week, Mike.
Anything else you want to add?X-Men related?
Preferably because of our nextmain show. Now.
Yeah.
We'll talk. We'll talk more X-Men.
I think what I'm going to doin terms of X-Men, I have been,
dying to revisit X-Men legends.
The video games.
Are you familiar with those?Remember those?
So I've got X-Men legends one and two,and those were really fun.

(01:04:18):
They those set the scene for MarvelUltimate Alliance.
It's the same gameplay.
So I think I'm gonna dive into those onmy, the Xbox
I got for my birthday and, playsome of those old X-Men games like that.
But if you know what you're up to,what you're doing, where can they find.
Yeah.

(01:04:40):
Find me on Instagram.
Vault in 87.
Vault in.
Or video game systems of the same name.
Or come back every week where we're here.
If people know about the showwhere they can like and subscribe
us, leave us a review, whatever they want to do, buy merch.
Where can they get all that good stuff at?

(01:05:30):
That's right.
We'll see you guys next week.
