and everything in between.
Wellness is not linear and it'snot just one thing.
It expands into so many areasand on this show we're going to

(00:41):
talk about just that.
We're all striving to live alittle more healthy and a little
more well, but what does thateven mean?

(01:04):
like right now, to help youmaximize your health, wellness
and your life.
Now let's dive in.
Hey, thanks for coming back.
For another week, anotherepisode.
I am here by myself today,which I feel like I haven't had
a solo episode in a while and Ihave just been having like so

(01:26):
many incredible conversationswith people that this is really
cool.
So you know, the last year, iwould say, since I have kind of
stepped out into the podcastingworld on my own, i've actually
had a ton of people reaching outto me wanting to come and chat
with me so that I can share withyou, and it's really cool to be

(01:47):
able to bring all you all thesedifferent kinds of diverse
conversations for you, becausethat's really, to me, like what
this podcast is to be about.
Obviously, you like me, you'rehere listening to my show, but
it's not just about me.
There are so many other humanswho can like spread so much
goodness and so many likethought provoking conversations,

(02:09):
and I want to share those withyou as well.
So today is just kind of likeuh, i mean, it's the end of June
, we are in the last week ofschool.
If you have kids in school, ormaybe you're a teacher and you
are counting down the days, butwe are just about to get into
the summer fun.
When I think about July andAugust, i think a lot about like

(02:33):
one trying to scramble intolike when am I going to get work
done because I have kids homewith me.
But also it's just like it'salmost this feeling of nostalgia
And you know, as a kid Iremember the summers feeling
like maybe you can connect withthis too.
I used to feel like the summerswere so long and they went on

(02:54):
forever And, you know, i wouldgo to camps or I would stay home
by myself and like there wasall these fun things that we did
.
But as an adult I feel like thesummers go by like that.
I feel like they go by so fastAnd so as soon as this time of
year hits, i'm just like tryingto figure out how I can hold on

(03:16):
to like every last bit of summer.
This time last year I was intothe final leg, the final
countdown of my pregnancy, and Istruggled a bit last summer
because I had a baby at the endof July.
So I was really pregnant forthe first half of the summer And
then I was in postpartum forthe second half of the summer

(03:38):
And I had a C-section and so Icouldn't go swimming And like,
if you know me, i love the water, like I live and breathe being
by the lake, being in water isso healing for me.
In fact, before I recorded thisepisode, i went out to the
backyard and did a little bit oflike a cold plunge in the pool.

(03:59):
It's been a little bit coolerand we don't have a heater
hooked up to the pool And so Ijust like dipped in there And I
don't know.
There's something about waterthat is so healing.
It's funny because it's noteven my, my earth sign, but
nevertheless I just love thewater.
So I'm really excited for, likeall the fun things we're going

(04:21):
to do this summer.
July is like packed, august isstarting to get packed And I'll
tell you a little bit about whatwe're doing.
But, yeah, like today, i justwant to share in the excitement
of summer with you.
Okay, i have to tell you this, though, so I don't even remember
when it was, but One Tree Hillcame out on Amazon Prime and I

(04:44):
loved One Tree Hill when I waslike a teenager.
I guess I would have been likea teenager and young adult when
it was out, but I was a One TreeHill person.
I was not.
I feel like it's one or theother.
It's like you either watchedOne Tree Hill or you watched the
OC, and maybe you'll know,maybe you're like I've never
watched One Tree Hill, or maybeyou're like I've never watched

(05:05):
the OC, where you're like me,but I feel like it was one or
the other And I always tried toget into the OC because there
were so many seasons of thatLike.
I think people have told methat they're like over 10
seasons.
Yeah, i think there's like alot of seasons I mean, there's
nine of One Tree Hill, so it'sslightly comparable in my
opinion and it's still liketeenage drama, you know, like so

(05:26):
much teenage drama and parentdrama, like they're very similar
.
So, anyway, one Tree Hill cameout on Amazon Prime and when
Mike and I first started datingit was still on.
So we would like get togetheron the nights that One Tree Hill
was on and also Grey's Anatomy.
Those were like our two showswhile we were dating.

(05:46):
But once it came out again,we've been just like plowing
through the seasons again.
So we are on season eight, which is like it's been so cool
reliving it.
That show was so it is stillactually so nostalgic for me And
like I watch certain episodesand I still get emotional.

(06:08):
I'm like crying because that'sjust.
I mean, that's just how I am,but no matter how many times
it's like full house.
I used to love watching fullhouse.
My God, you're finding out allthese things about me.
You're like Andrea, what iswrong with you?
My friend and I we would watchthe DVDs together like all the
time.
I actually have all of the DVDsand they recently took it off

(06:30):
Netflix, which I went through aphase of like I wanna boycott
Netflix because of the wholelike no password sharing thing.
They took friends off there awhile ago.
They don't have any of theHarry Potter movies on there
anymore.
There's just get your shittogether Netflix.
Okay.
Anyway, i almost boycottedNetflix because they got rid of
full house, but fortunately Ihave all of the DVDs.

(06:52):
So Clara can still watch theDVDs and we can relish in, like
the Bob Saget, john Stamosenergy, which is just so great.
Anyway, i'm getting off track.
We've been watching One TreeHill and it's exciting because,
like some of the episodes, likethe earlier ones I've seen them
so many times like the basicallyseasons one through four is

(07:15):
like the high school years.
I've seen those ones so manytimes.
But the like five, six, seven, eight, nine, i don't remember as
much.
So I'm seeing some things againand I'm like, oh my gosh, it's
so good.
I'm crying, i'm laughing, i'msurprised.
I don't know what I'm gonna dowhen One Tree Hill ends, because
there's really like nothingelse that we could watch.

(07:38):
I don't know If you have anysuggestions of like the next
series that we should watch.
We're gonna need to watchsomething over the summer
because we're gonna be havingall of these like cottage
getaways, and what are we gonnado at night if it's rainy and we
are just sitting inside Watchcottage movies?
That's one really fun thing too.

(07:58):
Ever since Clara was a baby, every summer we have rented a
cottage for a week and we justtypically rent them like on
Kijiji or Airbnb or wherever, and the last couple of years
we've actually been renting frommy friend, tara, and I love
going to cottages and they havelike their VHS or like their DV

(08:20):
okay, vhs is probably not, buttheir DVD collection and it's
just like movies that you don'treally watch at your house
anymore.
You just bring them up to thecottage for like things to watch
on rainy days, and so you'realways watching movies that like
you've never watched before orlike really old movies that you
forgot about.

(08:41):
I remember we went to thiscottage one time and we watched
a movie called I Know Who KilledMe and it's by it's Lindsay
Lohan.
She's like the main characterand it's really it was like the
weirdest, most budget movie ever.
But like those are the types ofmovies that you watch at the
cottage, or like horror moviesthough I can't really watch

(09:04):
horror movies at the cottagebecause then I'm like worried
that whatever is going on in themovie is going to happen at the
cottage.
I'm like looking out thewindows, locking all the doors.
I always imagine, okay, have youever seen that movie?
What's it called?
The Strangers?
or maybe it's just calledStrangers?

(09:26):
Liv Tyler is in it and it'sbased on a true story and her
and her newly wed husband orfiance.
They go to this cottage andthen somebody knocks on the
front door and says is Tamarathere?
And then the rest of the movieis just like these random people

(09:46):
like terrorizing this couple.
And at one point in the movie Istill remember seeing this in
the movie theater.
It's like burned in my brain.
But there was one part whereLiv Tyler was in the house and
in the shadows, like in thebackground of the movie, you can
see one of the people just likecome in with like this

(10:08):
pillowcase on their head.
I try not to think about thatmovie too much, especially when
I'm at the cottage or when I'mhome alone.
But yeah, i'm just lookingforward to like cottage times
and so if you have a show thatyou want to recommend to me,
please send that along.
So, like I said, this time ofyear just feels like kind of the
wrapping up and the likekickoff to what is a really

(10:32):
really fun summertime.
So there's a few things thatI'm doing right now to like wind
down, because I know I'm gonnahave kids at home and it will
probably be a little bit morechallenging to get work done.
But one of the things that I'm,you know, actively doing right
now if you follow me on any ofthe social media or you've
listened to any of the mostrecent episodes, you'll know

(10:55):
that this month Body Bliss Book2 launched and it is the second
in a series.
So last year around this timewe launched Book 1 and it is
just a.
I did get that.
Could you try again?
Oh, my watch is listening to me.
That's so weird.
That happens to me sometimesand I'm like they really are

(11:16):
always listening.
Anyway, it is just like such abeautiful compilation of raw,
real and like vulnerable storieswhere people are just sharing
their experiences with coming toa place of body acceptance.
Now, some of the stories arerelated to weight and body image

(11:39):
in the sense of like how peopleperceive and look at themselves
, how people perceive them, pardon me, or how they look at
themselves, but there are sosuch a diversity of other
stories that are included aswell in the two projects as it
relates to body acceptance, again, and body bliss.

(11:59):
So there are people that haveshared about trauma, there are
people that have shared abouteating disorders or, you know,
boundaries or lack thereof, orpeople who are from minority
groups and BIPOC communities, and it's just been like so many
different stories and the commonthread really is like listening

(12:21):
to things that people have saidon the outside or things that
have gone on internally thathave, you know, made things
challenging for you, and thenhow you've kind of navigated
that to start to move towards aplace of acceptance.
And all of these authors whoare part of these projects like
not all of them, some of themeven say, like you know, i

(12:44):
haven't reached the end of myjourney as it relates to getting
to this place of bodyacceptance, but I know.
You know this is the way that Iused to treat myself and maybe
this is the way that I focus ontreating myself now.
So, anyway, if you haven't readeither of the projects, i
totally recommend getting yourhands on them.
You can actually purchase themthrough my website, which is the

(13:07):
BalanceBlissca.
You can actually purchase themthrough my website or there will
be a link in the show notes foryou to grab copies of those
books.
But the one thing that I amtying up, so to speak, is we are
filling spots for the thirdbook.
So there's so much positiveresponse from these books and so
many people love hearing otherstories and knowing that they're

(13:32):
not alone, and so we are doingit all over again and creating
more impact with this project.
So, if you are somebody who has,you know, thought that this
might be something that youwould want to do, or you have a
story to share, you know you'rehere in this space because you
are committed to wellness andgrowth to some degree, and so,

(13:54):
you know, it really is like amentorship type of experience.
Um, it's like group coachingcombined with healing, combined
with catharsis, of course, whenyou're writing, um, like there's
so much community with theother authors who just like link
arms together.
It's just such a fantastic time, um, and you get all of the

(14:14):
support for the chapter writingprocess and marketing and
everything.
So if, if you are interested inthis, then please do reach out
to me, because we're hoping tofill the project within the next
couple of weeks and we will bekicking that off when the summer
ends.
When people have, like, the endof the summer, when, like, fall
is kind of getting closer, everybody is typically just, you

(14:37):
know, your head's just spinning.
It's been a whirlwind of a twomonths.
You've been like getting it allin and having so much fun.
You know all of the longweekends and all of the
activities and like theschedules are just wild and late
nights.
So once we get into fall, thatis kind of when we're going to
be kicking off.
So what you can expect fromthis podcast space in the summer

(15:00):
, um, we're actually going to bedoing a summer of re-releases,
so I'm going to be sharing withyou some episodes that have been
really well loved, really wellreceived episodes that will be
easy for you to take in on yourdrives or when you're sitting on
the dock or when you arelounging in your backyard or,

(15:21):
you know, taking a walk down thebeach in the sand, or maybe
you're flying on a plane orwalking through the airport.
But I'm going to be sharingsome really fun episodes that
have um being shared before andalso, just to keep you on your
toes, i'm going to be sprinklingsome new stuff in there as well
, so get ready for that comingat you this summer.

(15:42):
Here's what we're doing thissummer.
I have like I'm looking at mynightstand right now and I have
about four books piled on it.
I have one book on the floorand I have tons of books in my
audible wishlist library, so Ihave a few like want to actually
read this summer's.

(16:02):
I try and do a lot of readingwhen I'm at the cottage.
Um, i can't read in the car.
I'm not one of those peoplethat can like read.
When we're driving.
I admire people.
If I look down, even at myphone for too long, i start to
get carsick and then it justlike lasts for the entire drive
and it's not any fun at all.
So the one book that's on mybook reading list and typically

(16:25):
I really like teeter back andforth between personal
development books and then alsojust like fiction books that I
read for fun.
Calling Hoover's books arealways always on my list, but
the one book that I really, really want to read that I've
heard so many people talk aboutis called The Body is Not an
Apology, and this book is rightup my alley in terms of

(16:49):
interests that I have, and, ofcourse, you know the type of
work that I do and the things Ilove to talk about, and so that
one I will read it, and when Ifinish reading it, i will come
back to you.
I will let you know howincredible it is, and if you
want to read it too, then thisis your time to put it on your
book list.
The Body is Not an Apology.

(17:10):
The other book that I want tofinish is called Bear.
It's by Susan Hyatt, and she isa master life coach in the anti
diet space.
Actually, this is somethingthat I have been doing in the
background that I haven't reallyshared about too much.
I'm really really excited aboutit, though, and I'm waiting
until I have my officialcertification, but when I

(17:32):
started this work, i got aholistic health coaching
certification, and you know thework that I do and how I work
with my clients and how I showup has kind of evolved since
then.
But since the end of May I'veactually been doing Susan's Bear
coaching certification, andwhat Bear essentially means is
like showing up Bear and showingup without all the armor,

(17:57):
without all of the weight of theexpectations of other people or
the shoulds, all that kind ofstuff.
It's like peeling all thosethings back, all those layers
back, and really helping clientsto show up as their Bear selves
.
So it's really really fantasticbecause a lot of the
foundations and principles thatSusan is teaching in this

(18:18):
certification are things that Iactively practice for myself,
things that I have shared withclients, and so having this
certification is just going toreally really beautifully
compliment and enhance all ofthe work that I've already been
doing with clients.
So that's going to be taking metill the middle of July So

(18:38):
almost done And then after thatI will be a Bear certified coach
as well.
So I'm finishing up the Bearbook.
It's really cool because if youwere to pick it up, like each
chapter is actually spread out, like, okay, read this chapter
and work through what thischapter tells you this week and
then move on to the next, and alot of the things that are in

(19:00):
this book are similar to thingsthat I've talked about in my
first book.
You actually can do this, sodoing a detox of your
environment, so looking at whatyou're consuming and the
conversations you're having andall this what's around your
house and what you're reading, the accounts that you're
following I think I said thatalready, but all of this stuff

(19:21):
like really just like detoxingso that you can have the most
calm, positive, upliftingexperience.
She actually talks aboutdetoxing your closet, which is
also really cool.
I don't know about you, but Iused to have not anymore.
I'm getting better at this, butI used to have so many clothes
that I didn't wear, clothes thatwere too big for me, clothes

(19:44):
that were too small for me, as Ihave fluctuated, you know,
through the postpartum seasonsand just the different seasons
of my body and how they've shownup, and so one of the things
she talks about is going intoyour closet, getting rid of all
the stuff that, like, you'reholding on to just in case or
just because, and make sure thatall the clothes that you have

(20:05):
in there really bring you thatconfidence and that joy.
So that's something that we'relearning about.
Anyway, i'm going to finish thebear book and a few more weeks
I'm going to be bear certified, and so anybody who is working
with me in one on one coachinggoing forward after that, you
are going to be getting sometreats.

(20:25):
I actually am just wrapping upworking with a client for my
holistic body connection program, and so she's been having a
really cool luxury that, asshe's been going through this,
i've been going through mycertification, and so the
breakthroughs and theconversations that we have been
having have been so incredible, and I just commend her

(20:48):
vulnerability for choosingherself and investing in herself
in this way.
I have been watching thetransformation that's happening
for her.
You know, coaching is notsomething that you can like,
tangibly explain or illustratewhat the outcome is going to be,
but always rest assured thatthere will be transformation.

(21:11):
That happens because you arelearning information and you are
having conversations in waysthat you may have never had
those conversations before.
Okay, listen, i'm gettingcompletely off track.
I was talking about my summerreading list and all of a sudden
, i'm talking about coaching.
There's a few tips that I wannashare with you, though, of like

(21:31):
what we do to try and make themost of our summers.
So we started this a coupleyears ago and what it is is a
summer bucket list.
So Clara's so sweet.
She actually draws a bucket ona piece of paper and then writes
the things inside of it.
But we do a bucket list of like, okay, what are all the things
that you wanna make sure thatyou do this summer so that you

(21:53):
can really feel like you'rehaving the most exciting summer
ever.
And sometimes we feel likethose things have to be really
big, like go on these bigvacations or like spend a lot of
money, but sometimes there'sreally really like simple joys
or ways that you can make themost of your days without really

(22:15):
spending any money at all.
You know I'm so excited to goon like hikes and Clara loves
riding the LRT, so we're gonnabe like riding the LRT a lot
this summer.
And you know just like reallysmall things.
So there's lots of like smalllittle things that we plan on
doing together this summer.
We're gonna be spending a lotof time before I go back to a

(22:39):
more full-time working type ofschedule come September.
So yeah, there's just a lot ofreally cool stuff that we have
planned.
Eloise is turning one at theend of July.
We have our one week familyvacation planned.
We have a family reuniongetaway that we're gonna be
going to.
Clara is gonna be spending timewith her grandparents at the

(23:00):
trailer.
A couple of years ago, my dadbought a trailer out in just
near Paris, and so it's a reallygreat place for us to go.
Even just on the weekend, wecan go out there for the day.
You may have heard me talk abouthow much I love Horizon BNB in
Leamington, but did you knowthat Shelby also hosts a series
of connection retreatsthroughout the year?

(23:21):
I strongly believe that takingdedicated time to pour into
yourselves or connect on adeeper level with someone in
your life is the key to creatingbliss in your everyday lives.
Every year, shelby hosts avariety of retreats, including
couples retreats, which we havepersonally taken,
mother-daughter retreats, aswell as solo experiences, where

(23:43):
you can connect and come home toyourself.
Get this.
She also hosts experiences forsmall groups of friends.
Whether it be birthdaycelebrations or unique
bachelorette weekend.
You can work together to createa sacred and special way to
create memories.
To chat with Shelby aboutretreats or your curated

(24:03):
experience, reach out to her atwwwhorizonbnbcom and you can
start the conversation aboutcreating magic together.
So we have gone all over theplace in this episode And if
you're still here, thank you somuch for giving me your time.
Thank you so much for tuning inand giving your attention.

(24:25):
It is going to be a fabuloussummer.
There are so many incrediblethings and opportunities and
experiences coming for you onthe horizon, whether they are
big ones or whether they aresmall ones, and I just wanna
remind you to make sure that youare taking time to be in the
moment, to stop when you areexperiencing that thing that you

(24:50):
have been looking forward toall summer.
Just stop and look around andtake a mental picture, take it
all in.
Make sure to take some time foryou, because you deserve to
have that time.
And the other thing I wanted tosay is that you know, if you
are wanting to work with me alittle bit more one-on-one,

(25:11):
whether it be with coaching, whether it be in the body bliss
project, i'm always ready tohear from you.
In my DMs.
They are literally always openand I just I thank you so much
for being here week after week.
It was really nice havingmissed time with you today.
I hope that you had a greattime.
I hope you get tons of sunsets, tons of sun, kisses and lots of

(25:36):
laughs.
