wisdom, and insights about how they've been able to close the gap between failure and success,
(00:30):
and then go on to live a life of greatness.
Here at The Will To Win, we are dedicated to educating and inspiring you to
be able to maximize your potential and make what seems impossible, totally possible.
(00:52):
Welcome to The Will To Win, episode 11, where we're going to be talking to you
about the the power of branding.
And you've got a wealth of experience in this industry.
You help entrepreneurs to be able to, I guess, expand their brand and be able to reach more people.
(01:13):
And you also do retreats and all that.
Before we get started on the questions, feel free to just share a little bit more about what you do.
Thanks for the invite today to your World of Win podcast.
So my name is David Eskold's team in business.
I shortened it to Dave Gold and I'm a digital nomad, a personal brand consultant,
(01:36):
and I love to travel around the world and connect with other like-minded leaders
and help them basically elevate their personal brand so that they're are magnetically
attracting their ideal clientele and their community.
But also, I love to help people to do the inner work and to work on their breadth
(01:58):
and their purpose and their self-love, because I believe that that is ultimately
what it takes to actually build a brand that's not only magnetic, but also fulfilling.
Amazing. Thank you so much for that introduction, Dave, appreciate it so you
talk about the inner work like me being the Will to Win coach helping people succeed and win in life.
(02:24):
When it comes to inner work, how do you guide people in that process?
Good question, Steve. So inner
work could be like almost even a buzzword thrown around very loosely.
And so to break it down, I like to help people with really three things.
(02:45):
First off, to become self-aware and self-accepting of everything that has happened
to them in their life, everything that they're going through.
Start to see the patterns, the habits,
the limiting beliefs that have held them back or have put them in the situation
that they're currently in today because you'll never be able to get to where
(03:06):
you want to go unless you start to accept your current circumstances.
There are people who have gone from homeless, from broke, from really traumatic
childhoods and difficult work
fallouts to have a lot of money and be very successful and vice versa.
People who have had a lot of money in life and have thrown it all away. Why is that?
(03:30):
And I think a lot of the time it comes back down to not being self-aware or,
understanding that you have a problem and not accepting it.
And so that's something that I really like to help men especially with in terms of the inner work.
But it doesn't stop there. You know, when we hear the word surrender,
(03:52):
what do we think? This is the Will to Win podcast.
What do you think when you hear the word surrender?
Well, whatever problems, challenges that you're going through,
whatever is holding you back, getting in your way, you need to be able to let
go of your attachment to that.
Yeah. And that letting go part is so difficult for so many people,
(04:16):
whether it's letting go of the family norms, the societal beliefs,
the religious confines, whether it's letting go of the partner that is no longer
serving you or the job that is not actually aligned with your true purpose.
And so from my
(04:38):
experience in life the the word surrender it had
kind of a negative connotation and men especially
women as well could be afraid to surrender depending on what they had been through
and it's through the surrender that expansion takes place and so this is something
(04:58):
that we practice at our retreats in our one-on-one sessions in our group calls
is working on creating that expansion.
Because if you want to manifest abundance in your life, it can't come from no place.
You have to plant the seeds and then water it, and it's got to grow somehow, right?
And it starts with really reframing and rechanging the subconscious programming
within your belief system.
(05:20):
Absolutely. And when it comes to changing the belief system at the subconscious
level, like what are some key steps that people need to take to do that.
First off, you've got to become more aware of the breath.
There are so many very successful breathwork coaches out there these days,
(05:41):
you know, from Wim Hof to Joe Dispenza, in a way.
Yeah. Soma Breathwork. There's many incredible breathwork companies, Headspace.
Why is that? You know, I think because in our day and age, we see that just
through focusing on the breath, the inhale, the exhale, out through the nose, okay?
(06:04):
Deep belly breaths, learning ujjayi breath, different pranayama.
That's what it's called in Sanskrit.
If you can start to regulate the nervous system through the breath,
you can control yourself in very stressful situations.
You know what? Sex can be stressful. Sales can be stressful.
(06:26):
Podcasts can be stressful, right? Things come up in life.
The winners are the ones that are able to maintain composure and stay cool under the pressure.
And just before the podcast, I happened to throw on a little YouTube to see
Luka Doncic, one of the best basketball players in the world.
(06:47):
And he did this crazy step back right as the game was about to come to the close.
And it's like, you want to to have the will to win you've got
to be able to stay calm cool and collected and
surrender to the moment no matter what you're
going through in life that's the way that you're going to develop the will to
(07:07):
win it's staying cool even when things aren't going well when you're stressed
when everything's up in the air yeah that's critical and so when it comes to i guess,
being that winner is is it a matter of actually like you said stepping back taking time to reflect,
(07:32):
at a much deeper level about where you're at with your life and how you're going
to turn it around how you're going to move forward.
And up your game you know steve i really yeah man
i really appreciate the invite here today because that's what i feel like
we're doing on these podcasts when we genuinely connect with another person
whether it's in person or virtual we get a chance to reflect we get a chance
(07:54):
to take all the life experiences and knowledge that that we've learned and and
share that with the world.
And I just went through a really powerful experience last weekend where I put
together an event called the Awaken Creator.
And it was very intense, very challenging at times, but also incredibly transformational
(08:18):
for all the people that attended.
After an experience like that, it's really important to take some time to reflect,
to integrate, to journal, to think about Wow.
What did that opportunity provide for you?
What lessons, what powerful pattern interrupt could be created so that you can
(08:41):
start to shift your identity and become the person that you've always wanted to become?
Absolutely. And yeah, that ability to make the pattern interrupt,
that is critical to any change.
And the problem is so many people don't know
what the pattern is that's actually holding them back but during
(09:02):
that process where you take people through the
inner work that gives them that opportunity and on
that note like what have you seen in terms of people interrupting their their
patterns what takes place in that it could be from maybe someone has an adverse
(09:22):
opinion of coaching and so they're scared to invest money in a coach.
So you help them as a coach to understand the value of investing in themselves.
And just that pattern interrupt of investing in yourself rather than into.
Clothes or you know some some business
(09:46):
or some home or some stock no like actually investing in
yourself right can be a huge
pattern interrupt for many people but
also it could be like getting out of your
environment you know when was the last time
you steve like went for lived in a
(10:06):
different place you're from adelaide right no actually sydney
well i can't believe it i'm originally from brisbane
moved to sydney but never been to adelaide i've
never been to adelaide either what was the last time you lived someplace other
than sydney well i i do remember going to actually i was in bangkok probably
(10:27):
about four years ago that was a holiday though so i guess I was temporarily
in Bangkok and then tried to that Sri Lanka for about 10 days.
So yeah, it was awesome, but it was a totally different experience.
There's no like right or wrong here, but you've lived your whole life in Sydney, Australia, correct?
Well, the last 14 years I have, yes.
(10:51):
So we're talking about like pattern interrupts. And I think one of the best
ways to disrupt the pattern is by changing environments. environments so if
you ever feel stuck in your life in your relationships your work.
Your mindset. One of the easiest things you can do, especially since Sydney
has a beautiful airport, so you can fly somewhere close by, like as you said,
(11:14):
like Thailand, for example.
And you can live there for a few months, not just for a few days,
but actually get to really know the place and disrupt the pattern of the coffee
shop that you've been going to, the meals that you've been having,
the people that you've been hanging around.
And watch as you start to see that a lot of the things that you were doing were strictly out of habit.
(11:41):
They weren't actually serving you, right?
Maybe that person's advice wasn't helping you. Maybe that meal that you really
liked, it wasn't helping you to get more fit, right?
And when we take a step back, oftentimes we start to see the bigger picture, the macro. grow.
And, you know, I think that that is one of the easiest ways that,
(12:03):
you know, I've disrupted my life from loss, from bored, lacking purpose,
addicted to drugs, confused, sad, to connecting with the most beautiful people,
hosting retreats, getting invited for incredible speaking engagements on podcasts,
on masterminds, and having people want to pay me hard-earned money for me to mentor for them.
(12:28):
And I think the only way that that actually came to fruition was from disrupting
the pattern in the most drastic way. Incredible.
And yeah, once you've had that breakthrough, well, then it's a completely new system.
It's a completely new process that you follow because you've changed your environment
(12:51):
and you've changed the way you do things.
And I think that's key to any changes, just being able to adopt a new lifestyle.
Because the old lifestyle wasn't working, but the new one is going to work because
you're going to install all the steps that are going to take you forward into
(13:13):
the next mission that I want to ask.
Is how does that like what's the transition like
how do you make that transition once
you've interrupted the pattern it's a conscious decision that you have a desire
to change and you understand that there's certain things that you need to do
(13:33):
that are going to be uncomfortable they're going to be scary they're going to
be you know financially like putting Putting yourself at risk,
you know, it's really a decision that you need to make.
And it's like, how badly do you want?
Some people just say they want it. Other people want it so badly,
(13:54):
they're willing to go to all lengths to get it.
Some people say they want to be, you know, building a brand and successful as a coach.
But they're not willing to take an hour out of their Saturday to have a conversation like this.
With another entrepreneur. Some people say that they want to create content
(14:16):
online, but they're not willing to take the time to plan it,
to script it, to film it, to edit it, to post it.
To each their own. One of the things that I really come around on is just this
idea of softness around seeing people for where they're at on their journey.
Everyone is at a different from place and we can either judge them or we can
(14:40):
embrace them for where they're at.
We love them for where they're at and celebrate all of their perfections and imperfections.
And usually when we do that, that's when people decide that they want to work
with us and they want to invest their time, their effort, their energy,
their resources, and really believe that we can help them to change.
(15:05):
Incredible and so when
it comes to conscious branding or
being a conscious entrepreneur and
being able to market your brand exponentially what
would be the best one of the best ways to stand
out from the crowd be able to spread your message far
(15:26):
and wide get really clear on
who you you are as a person and what
is unique about you if you were going to be like
an avatar in the simpsons
what would make your character special is it
that you're funny that you get mad that you curse take far whatever it is like
(15:49):
what's going to make you stand out and that's kind of like your unique selling
proposition it's part of your positioning is creating some intrigue.
Around who you are and how you're different from all the other podcasters,
all the other sales coaches, dating, relationship specialists.
(16:11):
And there are many different methods that you can go about finding your USP,
your unique selling proposition.
However, one really simple method that I like to take my clients through is
having them list out all of the things that they're passionate about.
(16:35):
All of the buzzwords from the niche that they're in,
and also all of the words that are keywords that their clients are looking for.
And start to mix and match and put together three or four or five word kind
(16:58):
of methods and sentences that
would appeal very attractive to that ideal client, to that target market.
And that is creating better headlines, better offers, and more magnetic market messages.
And I've been having the honor of helping people to update their bios,
(17:20):
their brands online, and just see the success that it's had.
So we're sort of coming towards the end of the recording, and we've covered
so much great, so many great ideas so far.
And I just want to ask, in terms of the work that you're doing,
what's one or two pieces of wisdom that you can leave our guests with,
(17:46):
about conscious branding that would really have an impact on them.
If you want to attract people who will really value you and your work,
stop giving away things for free.
I don't care who you are or where you're at on your mission or your journey.
(18:07):
Give it a three-month challenge of no more free things, even if it's five dollars
even if it's eleven dollars even if it's twenty dollars people pay even a little
bit it means they're going to pay a little bit more attention,
and i've just come to realize that when you give things away for free it also
seems a little bit manipulative like what's the catch right so that's my one
(18:35):
little you know spicy tip that i'll share today.
The second one is start over and be consistent.
This is something that I want to practice, but I preach as well and do something similar on Instagram.
I have a goal this year to start over a new account and be consistent with my
(19:02):
posting content and my strategy,
because right now the
algorithm has changed and if you
are not posting consistently very niche
content in in like one demographic
one style then the algorithm will never pick it up i'll never go viral because
(19:24):
it won't know who to give it to right and you know just as a side note Another
thing that I want to do is have more fun with my content, just be more entertaining.
Because people go on social media to be entertained.
They don't go on social media to listen to a lecture. It's one of the reasons
(19:46):
why when you said to me, you want to do this for 40 minutes?
I was like, no, let's do it for 20.
Let's see if we can make 20 minutes of magic rather than carry on the episode
for another 30, 40, 50 minutes, and then no one ends up listening to it.
And viewership time drops.
In this day and age, if you're not Joe Rogan, it's going to be very hard for
(20:09):
you to get people to watch a podcast for three hours.
So shorten the content that you create and make it more meaningful.
That's my final tip for the day. That's absolute gold.
Dave, thank you so much for appearing on The Will to Win. Episode 11.
(20:31):
I've really appreciated what you've shared today. And I'm confident that it's
going to have a really positive impact on all of our guests that take the time
to listen to this short and sharp episode.
So thank you. And before you go, how can people connect with you if they want to get in touch?
(20:51):
Nice, Steve. I'll be happy to share the episode with my network.
And yeah, you guys can feel free to reach out. maybe I'll
have a bit more of my voice back by that time and
yeah I also run the business growth
brotherhood and it's a conscious collective of male
entrepreneurs that come together we meet once a week and we work on growing
(21:12):
ourselves and our businesses in the process so if you want to connect with me
at Dave Gold Evolve on Instagram is probably the best way and just shoot me
a message and tell me that Steve sent you.
Music.
Thank you for listening to the Will to Win. I hope today's episode was overflowing
(21:35):
with value and helped inspire you to make what seems impossible totally possible.
