What is flattery? We are going to define the term. What is the idea of flattery as it relates to teaching the Gospel? Have you ever heard the phrase, “You catch more flies with honey than vinegar?” It is commonly thought that before you tell someone they are wrong or share “bad news” that you must butter them up. Well folks, the bad news is sin causes you to be lost (Romans 6:23). The good news is that Jesus saves sinners (Luke 19:1-10). Do we need to flatter people before teaching them the Gospel? Did Jesus do that? Who uses flattery? Check out this Podcast for a study of these things. You might be surprised at how Jesus is NOT as “nice” as most portray Him to be.
