evening, it is kickoff Beach Wayne, the University of Texas Longhorns versus Yeah,
some team dressed in red who's gota really cocky coach. Hey,
it's all football time. I amabsolutely excited. Fall really yet to show
(01:34):
itself, not just in Texas butalso here down south. But over the
next two hours, we may mixit in a little football, because it
really isn't That's what life is mostlywell, it's what my life is mostly
about. That's why maybe I havea little pep in my voice. Whoever
you do, happen to root for, be it your used in Texans,
(01:56):
good luck with that. I'm notsure there's a lot of people who are
actually rooting for the Texans right nownow. They they if they put together
a windstreak. Stroud puts together somenice games, sure, but I don't
know what the outlook is. MyDallas Cowboys they kick off on Sunday night
football. I will be back intown for that. You know I always
host a big annual fun part tayfor all the Cowboy fans. I'm just
(02:17):
letting you into my life. Youlisten to me for twenty plus years.
You know who I root for,you know what I like, and thank
you for liking me back. Wedo have an exciting show number of things.
As the calendar has turned to Septemberagain not officially fall here. I
was up traveling last weekend Labor Dayweekend. There actually is cooler weather.
(02:39):
There are other places other than Texaswhere I am from, and I'm proud
to be from, that actually havedifferent seasons. I believe I saw a
tree starting to change color, andI'm like, what's up with that?
What is up with that? Treesin Texas are pretty much brown because it's
just hot year round. Enough raggingon my state. I gotta give you
(03:00):
some good things. Listen next week. What do we have going on in
the world of technology? Apple hasa little tiny press conference for anybody who
cares to spend more money to upgradeyour phone to the and I have to
say, rumored or whatever, theiPhone fifteen. Is that what we're on
right now? The iPhone fifteen allegedlysome changes coming. Question I get from
(03:23):
so many people, especially as theyknow I'm an Android guy. I am
not paid by it. This isnothing. As an endorsed here, I
do like Android. More people aroundthe world utilize the Android operating system on
their phones versus the iPhone operating systemthe iOS, if you will, so
I kind of make sure that Italk to my people, my viewers,
(03:46):
my followers, my listeners, andI am a little bit more astute when
it comes to Android stuff. Maybeit's a Samsung. Samsung Earlier this summer
they launched two new foldable or flippablephones, the Flip five and the Fold
five, and people say, hey, man, what's is Apple ever going
to release a fold or flip Iwill get into that some reasons why I
(04:10):
think they may be holding off hand if indeed it is ever coming.
But throughout the show we got streamingdishow. Hey, by the way,
Disney Disney's having a Disne is ina very big interesting war right now with
a very large cable company. It'sI it's it doesn't have to really do
anything to the state of Texas, but it is a very very big deal
(04:32):
with they're going through with Charter Communications, of how it could really impact the
future of television. It's it's it'sreally important. Now. I know a
lot of my listening audience you're notdealing with it. You're still getting your
ABC, your ESPN, your FAXand all your other you know, channels
that are Disney's owned or affiliated. It doesn't mean much because you know,
(04:54):
but I for my buddies out inLA A lot of people in New York,
they are not They have not beenable to watch any of those channels.
Sucks because the US Open is goingon, you kid, they can't
watch the US Open coverage on theESPN. We've got football Monday and night
football, and obviously I live inbreathe ESPN. I don't know how I
can handle. I'd probably move.I would probably if ABC or Disney says,
(05:16):
you know what we're doing it,We're we're just really checked and we're
not playing nice and we're gonna pullour channels from Comcast Exfinity. I may
move, and I've been trying tomove for a while, and maybe maybe
this is the thing that will putme over the top. I am not
sure, but it is a verybig deal and I'll give you through the
ramications without that, uh that istelevision season. People are now looking to
(05:41):
from to get more TVs. Igot an email earlier this week Michael,
I see eight k's TVs alo right? Do I need an eight K TV?
And short No, but I willtell you why, and also tell
you how big and how expensive someof these TVs are getting and why you
probably don't need them right now,and also your phone calls. I will
give it to you no matter whereI broadcast from as Callum back in the
studio. He can put you throughto me seven one three two one two
(06:05):
five nine five two one two fivenine five. Oh, that is how
you're gonna get to me. Let'ssee what we can have some fun with
you. The next week. Itis the big time. And I'm not
going to go through this much becauseI don't deal in rumors, but people
do want to know. Next Tuesdayit is Apple time. They will introduce
the iPhone fifteen, maybe some othergadgets, possibly an Apple Watch. It
(06:29):
starts at It starts at twelve noonCentral time. If you do want to
watch it, you can watch iton the Apple website. They have the
YouTube channel and what have you.A lot of rumors out there whether it
happens or not. But the bigrumor is Apple is finally and I say
this, finally, there's switch thelightning charger that you people love, that
you people use, allegedly it isGonzo on the new iPhone, they are
(06:54):
switching to the USB Type C,the letter C charging. Welcome to the
twenty first century. They're doing thisbecause the European Union has mandated that all
new electronic devices use the USB chargingsystem. They want to make it standard.
They want to make less waste,so you don't throw your chargers away
every time you get a new one. I love it. I'm a USBC
(07:16):
fan cars. Now they're putting USBCchargers in their cars too. I like
it. So your lightning cable couldsoon go to that great big cord drawer
in the sky Pro models. Maybethey're gonna have titanium frames. I heard
a rumor of one of the whatthey're gonna call It could be pretty funny.
It's not even worth talking about it. The new operating system iOS seventeen.
(07:40):
Typically iOS launches the Monday before thenew iPhone hits stores, so maybe
it might be one of the newnew features. The coolest new feature of
the whole new iPhone is the newiOS seventeen. Don't know what's in there
yet, but we will find maybesome new AirPods. Why should we care?
I don't know. I am anAndroid guy. Somebody said. Somebody
(08:05):
said the Android phone owners are theJan Brady of technology. You know what,
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, it'salways about Apple, Apple, Apple,
you know what. It's my jobto enjoy what I like, and
I'm gonna talk about it too. When we come back, I'll tell you
a little bit more my thoughts ofwhy the iPhone the has not we haven't
seen a foldable one or a flippableone. I am. I have been
(08:28):
playing with the Samsung Galaxy Flip five. The fold five. The form factors
are very interesting. It's neat.Maybe they're not the cheapest things out there,
but yes, it is possible tofold and flip phones with the glass
screens too. Any other thing yougot go to high tech tech and dot

gonna give you a shout out. This is the time I'm gonna talk about
Johnny Tamali's tex Mex. It's agreat cantina. It's in Missouri City,
Texas, which is at southwest sideof Houston. And uh I've been opened
in February. I am they don'thave a regular sea. I mean I
(10:28):
know where I said, I likesitting at the bar. Maybe at the
bar eight nine TVs. Which Iknow right now they are going college football.
But they've got a party room inthe back. It's opened up in
February. But they have got somegood Mark ratas. Wait, we had
some sort of a that we hadsome time. I had a taco breakfast,
taco type of thing this morning.I mean, I'm not gonna rag
on Alabama. I mean, Iguess there's some nice, but there's some
(10:50):
pretty. There's some pretty lady.Hello, lady, how you do?

there's something from here. Anyway. The point is dis back to tex Mex.
Is there any Is there any goodtext mex here? Are you guys
from Alabama? Birmingham to Tusca textstexts? I guess, well it's Texas.
(11:18):
Max is there? Alabama? MexAlmex is now nothing? No,
don't give me taco bell No.Uh, if you guys ever come to
Houston area, I'm gonna take youto Johnny Tamali's. Yeah, I know,

folks listening back in Houston, JohnnyTamali's Missouri City j O h N
n Y Johnny Tamali's MC dot com. If you want to roll over today.
They're open right now for lunch. They got a great Monday through Friday
happy hour and just it's it's nicepeople, it's clean. It's just on
(12:07):
the edge of Sugarland and Missouri City. It is on Murphy Road, which
is FM ten ninety two, justnear Highway six right right, and you're
right on the borderline or sort oflan Missouri City. It is. It's
good stuff. Actually, I shouldyou know what, I should have brought
some I should have Johnny Tamali's.They've also they've offered a cater bring in
some food from my show. Idon't know if I get I could have
(12:28):
brought it on the plane. Yougot, I know everybody, and everybody's
like boo, right, okay, next time I'm bringing food, you'll be
you'll you'll be out with it becauseeverybody here's wearing mostly red. Hey,
horn's up. Oh gosh, nono cussing on the radio phone, duver
here. Let's get back to itsseven one three two one two five nine
five. Oh if you have aniPhone, I know you don't have an
(12:50):
iPhone fifteen yet, they'll announced. You can call me on that your your
iPhone. You can go in anyphone. Actually it's Saturday. It's it's
it's free of charge. No,they don't charge your minutes on weekends.
iPhone fifteen, I'm gonna launch, going to be announced next week. It'll
go on sale probably within a weekor two after that. I get asked,
garth Man, where is the where'sthe foldable iPhone? I see you
(13:13):
talking, I see you showing offyour Samsung. I know they've been out
there for a while. Every othermanufacturer seems to have one. What's the
deal? Well, one thing thatI don't think we expect next week for
Apple to launch is a foldable versionof the iPhone, and it is a
bit weird knowing that this year haswe've seen a surge of foldable phone releases.
(13:35):
Motorola has something called the Razor plusGoogle Pixel It's called the Google Pixel
Fold. Samsung has the Z Foldfive, the z Flip five. Samsung
I think has a dominant over everythingthat folds as of right now. One
Plus, which is a manufacturer,Apo Zonemi Wawai. They they're all foldable
(14:00):
phones. So I understand where inthe world is Apple's foldable iPhone. I
don't know for sure when or ifan iPhone fold or an iPhone Flip will
be coming out until it's even announced. Apple doesn't comment on future products breaking
news, so when they're ready, they're gonna be ready. So is it
(14:26):
gonna be a flip? Is itgonna be fold? I wish I could
tell you if Apple were to releasea foldable phone, what problem would it
solve? I mean, could aniPhone flip replace in a smaller, older
iPhone, maybe the iPhone thirteen Minithat's gonna give you a big screen that's
still relatively small, kind of apocket friendly and that's what I love about
(14:50):
foldable flip phones. The form factor, they're so small. If you've ever
seen it's a clamshell phone. Women, if you you know, I think
women you have these compacts that hellsyour the nose powder or makeup or I
don't know, any know what it'scalled. It's it's about that size and
it flips up. It's cool.Would it be a fold phone? Which
would be kind of you if youtake an iPad Mini and fold it in
(15:13):
half and that'll be the size ofan iPhone thirteen Pro Max or something.
We're gonna see a design that doesn'teven exist. Is there gonna be an
iPhone roll a roll up phone.I've seen I don't know, concept fund
stuff of laptops that do that foryears and years and years. No,
(15:33):
No, how do you make afoldable iPhone? They need to figure it
out out first. Listen, Foldablephones represent a very small portion of the
overall mobile phone markets, but somethinglike one point five percent of all phones
(15:54):
are foldable. But len a shareeleven and a half million foldable phone shipped,
which shows you tells you aby overallphones there are. But there's a
big physical complexity you have to figureout because foldable phones have so many parts,
the mechanical parts, it could malfunction, It could wear out the hinge,
(16:15):
the dust. I remember the firstGalaxy fold came out and from Samsung
and did the review of the units, like almost fell apart. They've since
fixed those issues, but first generationproducts service whatever iPhones had problems too?
Was it the iPhone seven? Itreplaced the home button with a kind of
fake home button, so there wasone less mechanical part that could possibly break.
(16:41):
I mean you probably would. TheApple would need to kind of revamp
the operating system, the iOS,the iPad os. They would need to
revamp it because that's the software. So do you want one the funny picture?
How here's the other? Do youwant it? How much would they
charge? Holy? Holy foldabile phonesare not cheap. The Samsung Fold five
(17:08):
or the one I'm using right now, starts at eighteen one hundred bones.
The Flip five starts at a thousanddollars and breaking news. Ain't no surprise
prices for Apple products that are alreadyat the higher end. Would it be
successful if there is a company whocan design something beautiful and functional, you
(17:33):
know what I'm gonna give Apple theknot I'm gonna give them some luck.
Are they Are they thinking I haveto assume they're thinking about it. I
have to assume they're probably even somedesigns, maybe even a prototype. But
I guess the question is before wetake it, right would you your UI
(17:55):
phone users? Would you use it? Now? I'm telling you what you're
gonna mostly say no. Do youknow why you're gonna say it right now?
Because they don't offer one. Everytime someone sees my little h the
Samson Galaxy folds and flips and I'mplaying with Oh, this is so cool.
Yeah, but it's not an iPhone. I don't I don't need a
flip phone. The hell you don't. The minute Apple puts that fold or
flip on sale, you guys aregonna go freaking nuts and you're gonna and
(18:18):
don't give me the Oh my goodness, they're so invented. I've never seen
a phone that folds and flips.Apple will reinvent ant ignite that category,
ain't no doubt. But they're fiveto six years behind the time. Right
now, we're gonna take a breakbottom of the hour. Don't go anywhere
in Michael Garfield. It's the hightech text and show people starting to get
(18:41):
routing. Three game tail game partyhere as Texas Longhorns, the Alabama Crimson
tie. Crimson such a it's justsuch an un color. I'm sorry,
bo I'm sitting here it Duska loseAlabama going to the ut Abama game tonight.
I really should shut up because Iwant to. I want you guys
(19:02):
are really very nice. Let me. I will say this. I go
to a lot of visiting colleges towatch the Long Orange play and you were
nowhere near the worst. I reallypissed people up. None the worst fans
ever in college football. Can you, guys, guess where the where people
are treated the worst for visiting teamsever anywhere? And you wouldn't expect it.
(19:27):
Freaking Ohio State boo buck, Guys, I went to an Ohio State
Texas game. It was two thousandand five, the champion National Championships here
that the Long Orangs won. Iwent to. It was in September two
thousand and five, and one hundredthousand people in the stadium. Massive tailgate
(19:51):
is probably it was the second timeI went to the Horseshoe, as they
called the stadium. Tailgating was kindof fun. Texas goes in one of
the only fourt first nighttime games becausethey didn't even have lights installed at Ohio
at Ohio Stadium, but now theydo. We Texas went in and we
popped him. I think there wassixteen to seven was the final score.
(20:11):
The rudest fans that I have neverfelt threatened in my life before, other
than that September night of two thousandand five, leaving the stadium because we
beat their beloved Buck guys in Texaswent on to win the national championship.
Vince Young and everything. I'm withmy two best friends, one of which
(20:32):
is from Columbus, Ohio born andraised. We're all will be the sweetest
guy. Every person I've ever actuallymet from the state of Ohio and certainly
Columbus, they're good people. Oneon one, you get some rowdy people
together with with Ohio State football fans, they are abominable. They are horrible.
(20:52):
They were rude. I almost hadto take my orange burnt orange shirt
off walking to the car out ofthe stadium because I thought I was gonna
get thrown at me. It wasprobably the press, I believe. Don't
quote me that the president of theUniversity of Texas. The next day or
two days later wrote an open letterto Ohio State and they put it into
the newspaper of how rude the fanswere there. They're horrible their home.
(21:15):
But the point is a Alabama fans, you came to our stadium last year
in Austin. We were very cordialto you. Close game. You beat
us. Actually, Bryce Young beatus and if not for Bryce Young we
would have won. But you've beenso cordial. Vote so far seven one,
three, two, one two fivenine five. Oh. You actually
can hear the Texas Longhorns tonight atsix o'clock Central time on our sister station
(21:37):
here seven ninety am Sports Radio SportsTalk Radio. If you're watching, it
will be on ESPN tonight Chris fourKirk Herb Street on the call. You
will be able to see that mosteverywhere except where Charter Communications as the cable
rights, which is in two verylarge cities here of York in Los Angeles.
(22:00):
And I want to talk about thistoo, because I also talk I
talk about technology. I talk aboutthe business of technology, the business of
cars, the business of streaming andstreaming is technology. The way of television
is shown. It has continue tochange people are cutting the chord. They're
(22:21):
cable cutters and everything would have you, so I follow why is happening?
And there's an ongoing standoff right now, I'm gonna break this down if you
haven't heard about it, there's anongoing standoff between Charter Communication and it's one
of the country's largest cable entities, and the Walt Disney Company. And it's
(22:41):
more than the typical carriage dispute. And that's what it's called because I think
it's a little it's I think it'sa likely roadmap for TV as we continue
into the age of streaming. Theheart of this conflict is very fundamental in
how we consume TV content. Disneyhas channels and networks, one of which
(23:07):
is ESPN, another's ABC, andabout a week and a half ago,
they just vanished from Charters TV cableservice called Spectrum and that hit about fifteen
million subscribers. Now, disputes likethis they're not new, but the underlying
dynamics they're new in this case becausemedia giants like Disney, they are investing
(23:34):
very heavily in streaming platforms. Cableproviders like Charter feel there's subsidizing a business
model that's eating into their core business. Let me give you some numbers here.
Charter currently pays Disney, so CharterCable, they pay Disney over two
(23:59):
billion dollars annually to distribute channels likeABC and ESPN. But there costerizing consumers
are leaving. They're cutting the chord. Charter, Comcast, all these other
companies, they've been compelled to hiketheir prices. So what Charter solution did?
They want a hybrid model. Theywant to marry traditional cable with streaming.
(24:25):
So their CEO said, hey, listen, we're either moving forward with
a new collaborative video model or we'removing on. We'll see a Disney and
Charters demands. They are very clearDisney is navigating the decline of cable subscriptions
while they're trying to bolster it's streamingArsenal, Disney Plus, and they rely
(24:48):
on fees from companies like Charter tooffset all their programming expenses. And their
goal is they want to retain asmany cable subscribers while they're gearing up to
launch a new offering and it's calleddirect to consumer. We're gonna call it
DTC. They want to send channelsdirectly to you let's just bypass Charter.
We're gonna bypass Comcast and exfinitys onlike an ESPN app in Disney. Right
(25:15):
now, they've resisted Charters pushed tooffer its streaming services to Spectrum subscribers for
free. Right now, they're ata crossroads. And unless this battle ends
in a draw, which it willnot, the winning business model is going
to set the stage for future industrywide negotiation. The stakes are incredibly high
(25:37):
right now. Whose side are youwant? Well, I don't know.
What do you do? How doyou consume TV? Right now? There
is a free option you can watchover the air television right now, if
you're in Houston, the local NBC, the CBS, the ABC, the
PBS, Fox, They've got freeover the air. You do need it
over the year antenna and over theyear digital antenna and gonna cost you nothing.
(26:00):
And there's probably forty or fifty freeover the air channels. A lot
of them are Spanish speaking, butthey're free. But you don't get cable.
You're not going to get your FoxNews, your Fox Sports, your
ESPN, your HBOS or anything. You're just gonna get things that are over
the air, which is traditional, traditional, old school television. That's right.
(26:22):
Then you can get cable, andif you're really wanting, you can
get satellite. Laughable, how muchis your bill my bill right now for
xfinities like two hundred and fifty bones? It is stupid. I threatened to
cut that cord, cut the cable, which I do need to. But
you do need internet access if youwant streaming. How much can you get
internet ice speed internet access for it? That's that's still gonna cost you something
(26:44):
thirty forty, fifty sixty maybe ahigh high super speed over one hundred dollars.
Then you've got to start subscribing tothe apps. You've got to subscribe
to Disney Plus, Max, Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video, what ESPN.
ESPN does have ESPN Plus, butat some point soon going back to
the direct to consumer ESPN Bob Iger, he wants to go directly to consumer.
(27:11):
They're rumors. They're trying to figureout the pricing, which could be
anywhere between thirty to forty dollars amonth for one channel. But I'll tell
you what before you think what todo, and I say this too,
this is why I research. Youneed to start maybe taking a mental note,
maybe writing down a diary. Whichchannels do you watch? How often
do you watch? If you're payingtwo hundred, three hundred dollars a month
(27:32):
for cable and you've got hundreds ofchannels, but you only watch two,
three, four or five six channels, maybe time to go ola cart.
You know me, you know whatI watch? I live on ESPN.
Ninety plus percent of win my televisionon I watch ESPN, So it potentially
could make sense for me to payfor to kill my cable, to get
(27:57):
high speed internet access one and thenjust go with a few channels that I
want. One could be the ESPNapp. Could that's thirty or forty bucks
a month. Yes, you canalso to go what's called OTT over the
top television YouTube TV. That's seventyor eighty bucks a month. Two.
(28:18):
We are in a crazy time.I grew up on TV. I was
in the era, yes where Idon't remember black and white TV when it
was fully black and white. WeI remember we had some black and white
TVs. I remember UHF and VHF. There were thirteen channels two through thirteen
that was on the old VHF andthen you switched to the Ultra high frequency
UHF. Then I remember the MoldControl, the Sony Trina Drons, and
(28:44):
then in early two thousands, Iremember digital TV, high definition TV,
flat screen TVs. A lot ofit was over the air. Then we
got cable. The times are Ichanged it. It in is big money.
That is why you need to thinkto save money. We're gonna take
a break. When we get back. I'm actually gonna tell you about a
very very expensive TV. It's aneight K TV. Is that something you
need? Stand by? I'll tellyou for this. You could only hear
(29:17):
what goes on during the breaks here. It's arousing condition of the ISAs of
Texas led by me and not manypeople here would be a Crimson and the
Roll Tide fans Michael Garfield, Tusca, Luzela, ma'am out of the big
game tonight six o'clock centroll. Sothere's there's two top twenty five matchups to
night. Should you be a footballfan? No, one't really cares about.
(29:37):
What is it old miss in twolane or something. But we've got
your number eleven Texas long Orange, number three Alabama? How about them hook
them horns? So if you arelistening on our radio, you were here
and go into the game tonight,I'll be the one very burnt orange,
which which means I will be theone of maybe five thousand people who have
the worst seats in the house.Man and Alabama was not happy. They
(30:02):
just put all the visitors at thevisiting tape of the Horns way up in
the nosebleeds as retaliation, because that'swhat the Horns did Alabama last year.
I bet love colleague football. MichaelGarfield. It's called the High Tech tex
And Show. I just kind ofwent through the whole spiel of what is
going on with the cable streaming televisionindustry. It does not affect really anybody
(30:26):
in the state of Texas, butCharter Cable, Charter Cable Company, they
are in a massive dispute with DisneyDisney certainly as you know, ESPN,
ABC and several other things. It'saffecting ESPN. They Charter says they kicked
them off. They're not on cable. So if you're in LA, if
you're in New York, the maincities and other markets that do have Charter,
(30:48):
you can't watch any ESPN, youcan't watch ABC, so you gotta
watch something else. And that's gonnachange it. But let's talk about TVs
themselves, because this is TV season. This is television season. I get
hit man man garf about time manfootball season. Haven't bought a new TV
in several years? Is this agood time to buy it? Do?
I wait to the holiday? BlackFriday thing, that's time to buy TVs.
(31:18):
Generally, he's gonna be the fallseason. Yes, you're gonna get
deals on Black Fridays. You rememberthe Black Friday deals where let's go back
about fifteen years ago when flat screensand digital TV TVs really just came out
and people would line up at Walmartat Target and were at Best Buys because
they had the lost leader first tenpeople on line. We were giving a
(31:40):
high definite will. They were sellinghigh definition TVs for five hundred dollars,
six hundred dollars, which was anunbelievable discount back then. Nowadays you can
get one hell of a good TVfor five six hundred dollars, and certainly,
you know under two thousand dollars isgoing to give you a very big,
very high in one two. Soyeah, this is a good time,
(32:01):
especially if you know you're going tobe watching and keeping it on.
You know, TVs and streamings andholiday stuff and in football time, and
I talk about it. It's becauseI get a lot of questions asking if
people should get an eight K TV. An eight K TV, Hell no,
(32:22):
there's there is very little reason andthere's very little debater case that I
can make for an eighth K eightthousand pixels of a TV. We know
four K, and right now it'shard to find a new decent flat screen
TV that's not four K capable. So do you need one twice the pixels
(32:46):
we need? And want? You'retwo very different words. As I've taught
my kids. You may want youdon't need at all. Do you want
a four K? Do you wantan AK? I don't even know why
you want an eight K because itadds more money to it. And nothing
is shot in eight K, orat least nothing is shown via cable or
(33:07):
satellite. That is true eight Kto have you maximize your television for having
AK, and it's rare that we'reseeing four K. There are maybe a
few channels that are broadcasting in fourK, but you have to have a
you have to have a four KTV camera to shoot it. Then you've
(33:30):
got to actually have a four Kstream whether it's your cable company. And
I don't think Comcast Xfinity in theHouston area they a discovery channel. Maybe
they don't have a lot of fourK offerings. Now, if you get
DVDs in blue ray, should yoube a yes, there, that's the
direct way to watch four K.But it's still not a lot. And
(33:51):
I bring this upisode because I sawan eight K TV release this week Samsung.
They just annow a you're here forthis, a ninety eight inch eight
KTV ninety eight earlier this year, that there's there's already a sixty five is
(34:12):
seventy five and an eighty five incheight KTV that Sam Suck puts out.
It's the q N nine hundred Cneo q L ED if you're keeping so,
they just ever renounced day ninety eightinch diagonal screen, the q N
(34:32):
nine ninety C neo q LED.I'm gonna keep talking until you can guess
the prize. Uh. It's madeup of little tiny quantum mini LEDs.
They produce over a billion colors asI read the press release, and it
uses artificial intelligence to enhance any contentyou watch up to eight K quality.
(34:54):
So what it's saying it is.It's upping fake use AI whatever. Even
if you get four K or lessthan four K, it's going to up
refresh, for lack of a betterword, into eight K. It's got
an anti glare screen, an ultraviewingangle, it's metal on the outside.
(35:15):
It's a slimp. I'm still waitingfor you to guess. I'm waiting for
a calumn in my ear. Giveme an over under the ninety eight inch
actually eight K TV price it's yetto be revealed, but I will tell
you this. The sixty five inchis five thousand dollars, the seventy five
inch sixty three hundred dollars. Theeighty five inch eight thousand dollars. All
(35:39):
right, my guess. The ninetyeight inch k TV is likely to be
very near the ten thousand dollar mark. Who's in? Baby? Who's in?
Do you want one? I don'tknow. Maybe I get Sam signed
you have one one away. Theywon't even give me a TV. No,
I doubt that's it. Ten thousanddollars, you'll laugh. How much
(36:00):
was the very first high definition TV, the flat screen TV you had?
I want you to go back totwo thousand and two, three, four
or five, maybe how much.In two thousand three or four, moved
into a new house. I hada fifty inch maybe it was a fifty
(36:21):
five inch Hitachi. Hitachi made somedamn good TVs back in the day.
Retail price without going over fifteen thousanddollars for a fifty inch flat screen,
not kidding you. I did notpay that much. Got a little discount,
got a little garf deal. Yes, TVs have been expensive. Oh,
by the way, if you don'twant an a k TV, Sony
(36:44):
does have four KTVs starting at twelvehundred dollars, the q L which is
very good, the Neo Qla QLIdid. So you got twelve hundred dollars
or you're gonna get five thousand dollarsat up. There's a different between eight
K and four K. Yeah,no you let's just let's just stay and
I've even heard of sixteen k atcees. Just let's just stand by.
(37:04):

my kid to school years and yearsyears ago. But I've never been this
north of it ten. It's youknow, it's okay, it's not Hey,

or just to say hi or askquestions about what we've been yapping about
here. We do much more thantechnology. We do it's consumer lifestyle.
(40:07):
We went over the Disney versus Chartercable dispute right now. It doesn't really
affect people in Texas, but Ido have a lot of listeners in California,
New York, and you have notbeen able to watch ESPN or ABC
or in some of the other ilkthat Disney owns just because Charter just hold
it off their cable stations. Andit's more than just really kind of a
(40:30):
pricing warrior. It really the futureof streaming TV cable relies on it.
There's there's a lot of background.If you miss my discussion, it's what
Callum on the other he's back backin the Euston running the show. He
will put the podcast on at oneo'clock Central Time and one am Central Time
show whenever you are listening to theshow. I talked about that. I
(40:51):
did talk about Apple's upcoming announcements nextweek. No, Apple is not releasing
a foldable phone, at least Idon't think so. According to all the
rumors, a lot of other mostevery other company has released a foldable phone.
My thoughts on why Apple has yetto release a foldable phone and will
they ever release a foldable or aflip phone. I talked about that last
(41:14):
hour. Didn't you want to yapabout that? You can call me on
whatever phone you have. You canalso go to high Tech tex in hi
g h T e h T ex A N. I think everybody is
back to school right now at Alabamapeople, what are your are do your
kids? Are your kids back inschool? Yeah? Okay? When did
(41:35):
they go back? Last week? The last the first week of September?
In Texas generally public schools we goback like mid August, but the kids
get out in May. Right butright now, but Labor Days has past.
I think even the folks on theleast coast their their kids are back
in school. I did most ofAugust. I spent the back to school
(41:59):
technology recommendations laptops, desktops, phones, tablets, dorm room TVs and whatever.
But I got a number of thesethings right now because kids, younger
kids who are in elementary school,A really really a young one, A
(42:20):
lot of By the way, aswe're here, I got a live audience
over here, is you know alot of football fans here before the big
horns bamma game. How many ofyou guys have young kids? Just say
ten or twelve or you're younger? All right, okay, good, I'm
out, all right, good, all right? So you should be responsible,
right, so don't hurt me withall my orange jump way right now?
(42:42):
Do you guys? How many ofyou are younger? Keep your hands
up? How many have cell phonesthose kids have? Self? Oh?
Still a good bit. What agedo you get your kids' cell phone?
I used to get that all thetime when cell phones were just coming out.
It's not up to me. I'mnot I'm not your parent. That
question should only be answered by aparent. How mature, how safe?
(43:04):
How comfortable do you feel your kidsneed a cell phone? There are people
who have young kids who have cellphones, but they don't have a SIM
card, so the only way theycan use that cell phone. If you
are a smartphone, is in WiFi around the parents and you can block
a lot of things like that, which which was cool. But when your
kids are old enough and they taketheir cell phones, I ask a lot
(43:25):
about tracking. How do you trackyour kids now? To be fair,
my youngest son who's now graduated fromcollege, when he first went to college
five years ago, he's my youngest, we did have a tracking sharing app,
and there's a number of them outthere. It was free Lie three
sixty that we used, and Iused it. I'm gonna call it,
(43:51):
as a parent, a piece ofmind. I didn't track them regularly.
I know a lot of parents whotracked their kids, and I know a
lot of kids who track their parents. I don't really didn't use. If
I didn't hear from him, sureI would check on it. He figured
out probably I think his junior yearthat I ain't having no track or anymore,
and it was gone. I didn'tforce the issue. I don't track
anybody right now, and that's that. But little but younger kids. You
(44:12):
may want to track them for youngkids, and there's ways to do that.
Some parents they put an air tagor one of those other little trackers
in the kid's pockets with the kid'sbackpack. Now, Apple says, by
the way, and the sclam Applesays, they're not intended for people,
but it does work. Maybe youwant to consider putting one of their if
your kids drive. Maybe parents haveputting an Apple air tag in their car,
(44:37):
but there's more ways to do it, and especially if your kids are
young, there are apps that youcan download. There's one called FBI Child
I D. It's an app andit can come in pretty handy. What
it does it stores your kids informationin the app, so you can show
it to authorities without wasting any timein case the worst happens. And you
(45:00):
can also send the information to policeand security and other officials looking for missing
kids. Then you can put imagesfrom the phone's library and it's got some
tips on keeping kids safe, whatto do in the first few crucial hours
if a kid goes missing. Checkit out. If that's something you're concerned
about. It's called FBI Child iD. You know other some other tips
(45:25):
that sadly, nowadays we have toworry about it. And what I was
a kid, I mean, hell, if I didn't come home, I
came home when it finally got darkand I rode my bike and that was
the end of that and no onecared. Nowadays, it's tough. Most
kids carry phones in their pockets.I mean, there could be situations where
(45:46):
your kid can't make a phone call, or worse, if you think about
it, they could have someone lookingover their shoulder when they text. Somebody
told me about this little tips.I love this tip. Get this.
Take a secret emoji, a emojisomething weird as an alternative to having a
kid make an emergency color text becauseit's not obvious to others and it gets
(46:07):
the message across quickly. Take anemoji that you your family do not use
regularly. I mean, don't chooseanything really crazy, obscure, or hard
to find. Maybe an animal emojior something right at but find an emoji,
set your kids down, discuss theplan. If for some reason your
(46:28):
kids are in trouble, they can'ttalk like they're they're texting that emoji,
then your kids can't attract it.We used to have a secret word.
Might actually we kind of still do. It's just the kids didn't have phones.
Hell, I barely had a phonethat my kids were younger. But
we used to have a secret word. If somebody calls, how do I
know it's really you? Are yousafe? What's the secret word? I'm
(46:50):
not going to tell you my secretword. By kids to this day,
I think they still remember it,there's things to do, it's it's,
it's these are the things that youneed to think about right nowadays. In
technology it can be a hindrance. But I also can help too with the
tracking. We'll talk more about that. We'll take your phone calls. Michael
Garfields seven one three two one twofive nine five ozho coming to you a

E C H T e x Ait always uh. I've tested a lot
of products, I drive a lotof cars, I eat a lot of
restaurants and food, and it's it'sa nice way to let you know some
of the places I've been eating.I posted I posted a picture. I'm
not the biggest red meat guy.I mean, if I'm gonna eat some
red meat, it better be damngood and it better be pure, it
(47:58):
better be not too fatty or whatever. I posted some pictures of some unbelievable
steaks and burgers and chops on myInstagram a few days ago. It's because
I found in Actually, guys, wherever you're listening here in Alababatta, if
you want some of the best redmeat that is literally farm to table.
(48:19):
I posted some fictures. It's it'sfrom a company that I found and I
met. I met the owner. His name is Anthony Thomas, and he's
from Australia. So after me justkind of like looking at him with dreamy
eyes because he's got that sexy Italian, a sexy Australian accent. The dude
is noses stuff. He's a rodeocowboy, but he raises cattle in Texas
outside of the Houston area, andit is you know, he's grassbed stuff.
(48:45):
They're free fed. It means theyroam around, they eat what they
want to eat. But when theyare ready to roll and be processed,
there is it touches one hands. It is Anthony's hands. Thomas Cattle and
Catering dot Com. Go look atsome of these delectable things. But this
is a perfect time if you're agrill dude or grilled chick. This is
(49:07):
the weather now is finally getting readyto turn. It is football season and
here's the funny thing. It's notfunny thing, but here's an interesting thing.
Thomas catt on cater Company. Theyjust don't, hey, let me
order five steaks or four cut No, no, you order either a side
of beef or a quarter of aside of beef or a half a side
of beef. So I posted onI posted these photos on my Instagram.
(49:29):
If anybody wants to go on withme, who wants to spit like a
side of beef at the end ofthe day. What you do is you
call and I'm gonna give it numberhere to sa. You call Anthony and
you tell or you go to thewebsite you order, You tell him.
How thick do you want your filetsman? You want a three inch thick?
You want to marble this way?The dude is his company is so
(49:51):
personal, it is delectable. Madesome last week right when I got back
from Labor Day, I had atrip. I hate it. I made
some. I got some Hamburger meat. Lean is all get out. So
imagine your your freezer is just stockedwith made just for you, huts,
chops, anything a ground meat.Kids coming home for the holidays, boys
(50:16):
and girls, families coming over togrill, best meat you ever had at
the end of the day. Poundfor pound, it's it's phenomenal pricing wise.
But the fact is there's none ofthis preservative stuff and none of the
fake colors, none of the otherthing that you get the store pick.
This is the natural stuff. That'sthe beef stuff. So Thomas Cattle and
Catering dot Com, let me giveyou Anthony's number, said, Okay,

I'm gonna give his cell phone number. Okay, four zero six six four

you the phone number because I justI don't want to confuse with all the
digits. Anthony's so he's got anemail. Michael talks lower. I'm drawing

(52:14):
For fifteen years, I test drivecars. I do not get paid.
I am not endorsing dealerships. I'ma pure content guy. Content content
content. Uh. Last week Iwas in a a Kiya. I like
kias. I do not because Ijust went to Soul, South Korea in
July and I actually saw where kiaswere made and keyas were every there.
I was in a Kia. Tellyour ride if you're if you I love
(52:37):
this and again I'm not selling thisthing. I'm not gonna tell you where
to get it. I get.I'm gonna give you my review. There's
good things, there's some things Iwould improve. If you're looking for a
three row car with a lot ofrome that is comfortable at a good price
point, easily one of my toprecommendations. I've always been a Kia fan.
My oldest son has had two Keias. This is the twenty twenty three
(52:57):
Tell your Ride Prestige X Line Vsix if you want to get into it.
Kind of a weird color. Wascalled wolf gray want not my favorite.
Cold in the outside, but anyway, three point eight leader gas engine,
all gas, not hybrid. Nowwe're talking straight V six engine over
there, and it's it's so.It was very comfortable. No, I'm
a six foot tall dude. Myhair adds another three inches. No problem
(53:20):
getting in the first row, noproblems getting in the second row. Not
a real big problem getting into thethird row. Tons of space. I
like the features on this one becausethis is called the X line. That
was that's their up model, ifyou will. This one had big black
alloy wheels. I mean the stylingalone is it's it's a little different because
(53:40):
it's the X Line. It's gota towing mode, it's got had self
leveling rear suspension. The price asI as I drove it with everything included,
it was fifty four thousand dollars fora for a three row. We're
gonna call it it's an suv. There's no way to it's a It's an
(54:00):
suv. One of the things Ilike about Kia ten year, one hundred
thousand mile warranty for the power trainand in five years sixty thousand I think
for the limited basic quarantine Kiyas. They're a handful of companies who just they
just do things right with their warranties. Always look for a warranty. But
inside a really nice touch screen,a very big a what was it about
(54:23):
about a twelve inch display kind ofa panorama thing. One of the things
I love that Kia does when youwhen you look at the instrument panel,
this is a it's a safety feature. You're holding the steering wheel. Look
right through the steering wheel. Normallyyou see the odometer and the spidometer and
everything. Most of them are digital. Right now, this is digital.
(54:44):
When you turn your left blinker onyour right blinker on it. There's a
camera right through there that has aleft view of what's in your left hand
lane as you're turning left when thatblinkers on, right blinker as a camera
that shows you in the right lankjust to make sure you're cool. Just
little ingenious touches like this. Iactually would recommend it if I if I
(55:05):
wanted an SUV with three rows.Usually this would be my final thoughts in
comparison because of the price. Ilike it. I like the ride,
very nice, keya brand. It'sit's really cool. If you guys want
me to test out something, feelfree to send me a no go to

the results of the Texas Alabama game. So don't don't spoil it for me.

too many cocktails should we win,and I'm on the flight back right now

continue the show from Tuscaloosa, andI wait to go to the game six

(57:00):
Michael Man, I just saw someof the photos that you have posted
on your Instagram about the meat company, the side of beef company, what's
the name again? And I'm seriouslythinking about going in with a half a
side of beef for you. It'swell, you really should and you don't
need me to go into it too. I mean, you get some neighbors.
Thomas Cattle and Catering dot Com ThomasCattell and Catering dot Com four six

up the phone right now. Fourh six six four seven seventy nine hundred.
What an unbelievable story. Right outsideof Houston. He's got a ranch.
It is literally farm to table, the highest in cuts and meats,
and the stakes, the just itlooks awesome. I mean, why not
(57:45):
have a refrigerator full of beef soyou can just whip it out. Excuse
me while I defrost this and whipit out and have the just the top
Nutch meats coming into the the holidayseason. Four six six four seven seventy

cut you want. He's going toget your quarter of a side of beef.
Half a side of beef, thewhole side of beef. It's it's
(58:06):
good stuff. Talked about cars also, I do a lot of cars.
I gave you the review. Whatwas I end last week? Oh,
I was in a Kia Tell yourride. It's a really nice SUV.
Good, good price for the money. And I do cover the car industry
quite actually, probably more than Ido technology. I do get to test
drive some cars. And I sawthis too with the car industry news.
(58:28):
BMW did something and I say did. It's past tense because they pulled it
away so many companies. Obviously it'sa business. Companies are a business.
Companies wanted to drive revenue. They'retrying to find a new business models for
revenue. And some automobile companies, one of which is BMW, they started
something with a subscription controversial. Theyit was but last year. And this
(58:55):
doesn't pretend a lot of Texas buta lot of cars have heated seats,
right, BMW would not let youturn on the heated seats unless you subscribe
on a monthly basis to the feature. Yes that even though your seats are
heated and you're used to pushing abutton to turn on your air conditioning seats,
your heated seats. It was amonthly subscription and it was by eighteen
(59:17):
bucks per month for heated seats, and they offer this in a few countries.
Didn't work so well. BMW nowhas dropped the practice to focus.
Dropped that practice from the heated seats, but they are still want to hate
saying nicol and dime yep, anotherpaid software service. So it doesn't plan
(59:39):
at charge drivers extra to use hardwarefeatures that are in their car, the
hard features like air conditioning or theradio or the heated seats, but software
features like driving assistance and parking assistancethey're going to focus their attention on.
That. Is this something I don'tknow. I do not think anybody would
(01:00:05):
agree and say, hey, thisis a smarty, smart idea. The
only reason an aster or caveat Iwould say, okay, I could deal
with having a subscription service for somethingis if they lowered the cost of the
vehicle itself. All right, SoI'm gonna I'm gonna lower the cost of
the vehicle where it's gonna be relativelyaffordable, like BMW is pund for pound.
(01:00:29):
Bm does I love BMW's and maybemy man that Porsche, my two
favorite manufacturers. I love them. They're not cheap, you know, just
comparatively. If they if each ofthose companies lowered their price but said,
okay, wait a minute, we'regonna charge you have to subscribe on a
monthly basis. And again I needto know how much per month to use
(01:00:51):
these features. Well, it's upto me to use them. Okay,
So maybe I don't need parking assistance. Maybe I don't need driving assistance.
I kind of need a left blankerand to right anchor, and I would
definitely want a radio it let themdo it. But other than that,
man, I don't know if thisis a business model that's gonna work.
What say you? Seven one threetwo one two five nine five zero it's
(01:01:15):
I don't know. Is it acase of supply demand? I mean drivers
did not want to pay for theheated seats or heated steering lolls or anything,
so BMW stopped it. It's thesubscription. I mean, it didn't
even make it to the second winter. They it made it through one winter.
It just it just didn't work.So this is the stuff that I
cover. Buy a car, justhopefully everything works. And if it doesn't
(01:01:37):
work, hopefully actually has a verygood warranty, very good warranty. I'm
getting an email. Here's an emailgoing, hey Michael, what do you
know about cameras? I'm looking atactually for an old fashioned camera. Yes,
I know, I like carrying mycamera around that's built into my smartphone.
But remember back in the day, because I remember years ago, I
used to talk about when you graduatedcollege, you pulled all your money together
(01:01:57):
and you bought a SLR single lensreflex camera. There are cameras out there
still, and you know, doyou know who's coming back with a camera?
Well, they never left. Buthere is here is a company name
you may have not have heard ofor thought of in years. Polaroid hashtag,
Polaroid hashtag what who now? Ifyou are of age of under a
(01:02:22):
certain generation, you may not evenremember the name or heard of Polaroid.
You're over forty years old, you'veheard of Polaroid, Polaroid, Kodak,
they had cameras, they had film. Polaroid was the very first instant camera.
I remember my dad had one andyou put this cartridge in of I
(01:02:43):
think it held ten or twelve cardand you hit it and all of a
sudden. I'd love Calum. Weneed to have a sound bite of the
sound of a Polaroid photo coming outof the camera. It was like,
and what you did is you gotYou waited three, four, five,
six, ten minutes and all ofa sudden the photo would magically appear,
kind of reverse of back to thefuture when Marty disappeared in a photo.
(01:03:09):
Well, Polaroid the company's still around, and they just released a camera.
That's right, because it's what's what'sold is new or what's new is old.
It's called the Polaroid Eye two IDash two, and it is.
They have a line of cameras. This is the most expensive camera. I'll
(01:03:30):
just bury the lead. They sella Polaroid camera now for five hundred and
ninety nine bucks and it's kind ofit's a plastic kind of camera, but
it's supposed to have a very goodlens which is very very key and you
press a button and all of asudden, out pops a photo. Do
(01:03:53):
we need this, people? Dowe need listen? I have a list
of care and you know what,we've got about a minute before the we
gotta get out of here. Iactually and I'm gonna this is from my
Jeremy. Jeremy is in Parland,Texas. Jeremy, I'm gonna ask your
quohen we come back, and Iknow we have one more semen. I
will give you a list of actualcameras, maybe not SLRs, which are
single lens reflects, but they're dSLR, which is a digital single lens
(01:04:16):
reflects cameras. Did traditional cameras, which if you were a photographer, this
is something you definitely want to havebecause they're much much, much better than
a smartphone camera. They're not thennothing could beat the convenience as a smartphone
camera. But their cameras out there. And I will talk about that.
I had a polaroid and I actuallystill have a polaroid. It's it's up
in my closet somewhere, and Iit this polaroid. I may have got
(01:04:41):
it when I was in college. You may have been high school. This
polaroid's easy forty years old. Iactually may want to go on eBay.
Oh, speaking of eBay, eBayjust actually came out something and I will
tell you what that is. Sowe got a big last segment. Folks,
don't go anywhere because when we talkabout polaroid, and throwbacks and eBay
was the last time you used eBay? I do like eBay. I like
selling that I have so much stuffto sell. I could probably make a
(01:05:04):
living at least for a year onthe crap that I have in my house,
all the demo models of products thatI got. But it's kind of
a pain of writing the description andeverything. Ah, eBay's rolling out something
that's gonna make it a lot easierfor you to list your products and the
crap that you don't want. Folks, this is what I'm here for to
talk about the crap that you don'twant. Michael Garfield, it is the
(01:05:26):
name, it is the high TechText, and shall be right back for
the final nine minutes, the finalsegment of the high Tech tex sh Hey,
really, I do appreciate you guysjust tuning in for all these years,
two decades plus, having some funemailing me complaining that I talk about
(01:05:48):
the Longhorns or cowboys too much ortalking too fast. You know what,
you have other things to listen to, but but don't go, don't change.
Thank you for listening to me,and appreciate all the sponsors who keep
this show for free. I talkedabout BMW. They luckily smartly they canceled
(01:06:08):
a subscription service. Car manufacturers. There's a few of them now who are
charging subscriptions for heated seats and whatever. Nothing to subscribe to that cost you
money here on this iHeartRadio station. And that is because of our wonderful partners
and companies that we do. Hopeyou patronize in support. Starting with US
Coins and Jewelry. The Duncan Brothersright there on Katie Freeway at Voss Day.
(01:06:33):
Man. These what a conglomerate. They have many They love to buy
gold, they buy silver. Allyour coins. Trust these people. They've
been around since the eighties and they'reso cool. Go to US Coins and
Jewelry dot com. A lot ofcool things are getting ready to launch and
expand their business too. Rolexes theydo all that stuff. Johnny Tamali's out
(01:06:56):
in Missouri City on the southwest side. They're probably listening to me. I
know that the football games were onright now in the bar. Great tex
mex Food. Check it out. It's on twenty It's at twenty seven twenty
FM ten ninety two. That's MurphyRoad near Highway six right on the Sugar
Lamb Missouri City border. Go tellhim you heard it on the Garf Show
and then Thomas Cattle and Catering dotCom. This is new. I won't
(01:07:18):
be talking about Anthony Thomas. Heis guy. He's a one man band
here in the Houston area. Heis an Australian rancher but also a rodeo
cowboy, and he knows everything aboutcattle in beef he will sell and what
did his company takes? They sellsides of beef man half a side,
quarterside. If he'll talk to youon the phone, how do you want
(01:07:39):
your filet cut, how thick, marbled and everything? What a fun thing
to do, is a great gift. But just stock your freezer, stock
your stock your fridge with the stuff. And that's a Thomas Cattle and Catering
dot Com. I'm gonna blow uphis phone right now. I'm gonna give
it to four h six six fourseven seventy nine hundred. See I talk
about this. It only takes aminute or so. You don't pay for
(01:08:00):
anything to listen to this. Thecontent is absolutely there. I want to
follow up on the email I gotthere. The cameras of people Apparently people
still like actual, real cameras therearen't there, and they're really good if
you're a photographer. There their compactcameras, there's action cameras, there's mirror
lest cameras, there's digital single lensreflix cameras. It's it's kind of a
(01:08:21):
it's a strange but fun time tobuy a digital camera because smartphones they really
have gutted the casual photography market becausewe have you know, some phones have
better cameras than the others. AndI'm not getting specifics over here, but
you know what I'm talking about. The but you didn't do some research so
(01:08:42):
real quickly. And I think thiswas for Jeremy. Jeremy and apparent Land.
He wrote, he goes, howdo you buy a camera? Wait?
What do you things look for? There's a lot of reasons to choose
a camera over a smartphone. Theythey have larger image sensors in mirroralist cameras
that lets more light in. Youcan have different choice of lenses from wide
angle to telephoto to zoom lenses. They've got better optics. Smartphones they just
(01:09:05):
have in one what's called an Fstop one setting, and cameras have so
many others. It gives you moreoptions to exposure control, and there's better
quality, and there's and there's whatever. So it depends how they're heavier,
they're bigger, do you want toslip them around? Are you a professional
photographer that you want to do headshots, you want to do sports, action
(01:09:29):
shooting things. You can look atmirrorist cameras or DSLRs digital single lens reflex.
They let you change lenses. Yousee these on the sidelines of sports.
You know, some people have lensesthat are one foot and a half
long for those super close ups. It's not as compact, but there's there's
a there's a lot of different optionsout there, So do your research,
(01:09:51):
which I would do. But ifyou want a mirror lest camera, mirror
because there's a mirror in a lotof these cameras. Mirroralists right now is
the biggest category of cameras these daysfar in a way. So if you
want to have a best camera, photography, good features, look for a
mirror lest camera and they some ofthem aren't cheap. A really good one
(01:10:13):
right now. Cannon makes going andI'm a Cannon fan. I think Cannon
compared to Sony, Sony's always great, but Sony is very proud of those
four letters s O win. WhyI like Cannon. I think they make
just as good, if not asbetter than Sony, and they're a little
cheaper. There's a Cannon EOS,the Cannon EOS R fifty R fifty it
is let me see, let megive you a price on this one.
(01:10:35):
It is six hundred and seventy ninedollars or so, all right not I'm
telling you, man, this isnot that bad for a professional camera because
there's cameras well over two thousand, three thousand and four thousand, especially when
you get in to the Sony's outthere. So the mirror lest cameras out
there, action cameras, that's right, you know, the go pros type
(01:10:56):
of thing. Go pros are onthe market. I think if you want
one of those act cameras, Ithink they're on the Hero eleven Black.
I think that's a really good one. Right now, there's they're about four
hundred dollars, and you can't comparethe little action cameras to the mirror list
cameras. But if you want somethingto you know, if you're skateboarding or
if you're skiing, you know, those are are really good compact cameras.
(01:11:17):
As I said, they're they're fewand far between. The category has fewer
cameras that it did a few yearsago. Fuji, believe it not,
Fuji Film makes a compact camera.Uh, the fujifilm X one hundred V.
I don't know if I recommend thatthe compact cameras. I think some
of our phones, some are providethe certainly the convenience right there, and
(01:11:39):
so I don't think we need Idon't think you need to go out and
get a compact camera. If you'regonna go get a camera, get to
get something really big. Panason itmakes a good one. One more D
d SLR. Take a look Nike. Nike D eight fifty ain't cheap.
It's close to twenty seven hundred dollars. That is a D digital SLR.
And companies are going to making Ithink Nikon there, I think they just
(01:12:02):
anounce in Canada. They may havejust announced I'm not going to make the
digital single lens roof scameras. Sothose are pretty pricey too, So I
appreciate that. So that's it's agood question. I'm here to answer all
those things. See if I canput some links on this on my ex
account and also my threads account.I do appreciate everybody hanging in there.
And also, yeah, thank youso much, Calum. I know it's
(01:12:23):
not the easiest thing. When Iam not in studio, I'm remote.
I'd like to thank the folks herein Alabama, very very nice. We've
got a football game here in justa few hours. If you're listening plausibly
live. If you're listening to therepeat to late in the middle of the
night, almost one o'clock am onSunday Central Time on KPRC nine fifty,
will you know the result? Don'ttell me, but I hope I'm I've
(01:12:45):
got a big smile on my orangeface, burnt orange face. Thanks everybody
who's been a part of this show. Enjoy Saturday. The NFL starts tomorrow.
Rogerly today. Whenever you're listening tothis thing, you're used in Texans
Dallas Cowboys kickoff on Sunday night footballversus the Giants, and let's just hope
(01:13:05):
it gets cool weapon because that's theonly way to live. High Tech Texan
is the where to go for allyour information and a lot of the fun
stuff that I review. High tE c H T E X A M.
Thanks to the Potners, the companiesI mentioned to keep this radio show
free, f R E, andalso everybody here behind the scenes, from
Eddie Martini who runs this Houston iHeartmarket, Mark Sherman, Bryan Erickson,
(01:13:29):
and Robert Reese, who I justthink, because it's not for Robert Reese
here at iHeart, who knows whereI would be. He's just a good
dude who keeps on selling and selling. My name is Garth. I will
end with a hook him horns becauseright now it is POT eight time as
we count down to kickoff and myshow is over.
