Speaker 3 (00:09):
In the high Tech Texan.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Michael Garfield is here with a high Tech Texans.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
To make life easier, new technology, and Michael Garfield has
something you might like.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Michael Garfield is your high Tech Texans. Three decades helping
you make magic with your gadgets. Heard worldwide on the
iHeartRadio add now you're high tech Texan. Michael Garfield.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
If you hear a little pep in my voice, take
one guess. Yes, it's still the dold rooms of summer.
But it's August. Not that I'm happy it's August because
it's still three degree you know, three digits when you
look at the temps. But all I know about, and
all I care about maybe a lot of you too,
(01:08):
it is football season. I don't care if we only
had one preseason game with two teams. You don't care
about people. Look at the calendar. By the end of
this month, that is going to be in full swing,
six months of football. And that is probably some of
the more peppy or best news that I've heard in
a long time. But I'm going to try to hold
the fourth down for two hours and still kill a
(01:30):
little time while you're still dwindling down the final days
of summer, especially if you're a parent, especially if you're
a kid, because it is school time. And for all
those who don't live in Texas but you want to be,
school starts early in Texas. It has since I was
a kid in school, way back in the day. But
guess what we get out earlier. We get out in
(01:53):
the end of May. All you least coast schools, you're
still fighting through June. So suck it up, people, and
we're going to do some back to school items. I
generally do this this part of the year. This time
of the year, if you're in the mode for a laptop,
a desktop computer, things for your dorm, should you be
going off to college for the last minute, I'm probably
(02:14):
not going to suggest an alarm clock or a clock radio.
That's how long I've been doing this show, way before
the invention of alarm clocks and cell phones were so ubiquitous.
That's right, I've been doing it for a quite a while. No,
no more of that stuff. There's a lot of technology
out there. We don't need blue books, we may not
need pencils, we may not need little zipper bags, and
(02:36):
I know I'm dating myself to so many listeners out
there of going what are you talking about? What are
you talking about? Yes, these are the times when I
used to walk to school and from school uphil both
ways in the snow. Yeah, that's all that is. It
doesn't work right now, you know what? What are we
kiding mat Nowadays? We don't even leave, We don't even
get dressed. We zoom, we take these virtual classes. But
(02:59):
to have changed, and I tried to change with it
to Michael's The name Garf is the nickname Michael Garfield
that is called The High Tech textan show you can
follow along online Hi g h T e H T
e x A N on all of the social medias
well most all of them, not on TikTok. I've blocked
(03:20):
a number of different stalkers out there, and so if
you can't get me, I'm sure you're finding out ways
to get friends actually to see what's going on in
my life. But you know what, screw you. I'm still
doing this and it's I'm trying not to let it
affect me. I'm just trying to enjoy the last few
weeks before it is nothing but football here. Hey, listen.
A number of different things I do want to talk
(03:41):
about here. Speaking of football, football and technology, there is
a marriage right now. The NFL this season is using
technology with the virtual markers. I'm not saying in lieu
of the ten yard chain gang where the referees moved
the ten yard first down markers, but if you saw
the first football game season football game just a few
days ago, we saw the first iteration of what the
(04:04):
NFL is going to be using to have a virtual
distance marker similar to what Tennis does with their Hawkeye system.
I'll give me my thoughts on that. Well. Remindiss because
forty four years ago this weekend, one of the greatest
seminal changes that I know in my lifetime and my
generation launched. It was the launch of MTV. Where were
(04:24):
you August first of nineteen eighty one when video killed
the radio star A last I'm still on the radio,
not that I'm a star. It is in the midst
of hurricane season. Not great news of what the government
did just two days ago with the hurricane satellites, and
also some other neat little features to give your kids
(04:45):
and track your kids if you want to be trackable,
because times have indeed change. One thing I want to
mention is this really quickly, I want to talk took
some of the content creators out there in my listening audience,
and if you don't know what a content creator is,
that's all you influence here as well. There's other grative
people out there who make money or certainly are very
(05:09):
popular with video reviews, page reviews online on the social
media content, especially with YouTube. And I guess I have
a point because I saw this summer. I forget this online.
But a lot of people, you know, they review products,
their comedians or something, and a lot of the times
(05:31):
they use curse words. Am I allowed to say cuss words?
Ask grew it? Yeah, they use cuss words and for
a relatively good long period of time. If you use
cuss words, specifically in YouTube videos, it was very tough
to monetize it because there were rules. And it was
(05:54):
about two years ago two and a half years ago
that YouTube began to limit advertise revenue if profanity was
used in the first eight to fifteen seconds of your video.
That's right, there's they. I guess they used AI or
something to scan all the YouTube videos where you couldn't cuss.
(06:16):
They didn't want you to do that. Well, guess what
I got relatively good news for you cussers out there
who are social content creators on YouTube. YouTube videos with
strong profanity in the first seven seconds are now eligible
for full monetization. Is that the best news you've heard
(06:40):
in a long time. I have a YouTube channel. Feel
free to go find me. It's it's I think it's
with Michael Garfield HTT or just just go to YouTube
look for high Tech Texan. And I don't puss on
my YouTube videos. Hey, it's a family show. People Here
in radio of the FCC, we can't say words like nope,
(07:00):
we can't do it. But guess what on YouTube, I'm
going full damn straight. I am baby. I mean, I
don't have a ton of subscribers on YouTube. I hope
you follow and subscribe me on YouTube because I want
to monetize some things. Maybe if I start cussing, Maybe
if I start talking kind of like how real dudes
get together. We're playing poker, we're drinking beer, we're outside,
(07:21):
we're smoking cigars, we're hanging out, we're watching the Pat
mcafe show. And all of a sudden, it's like and
then up, let's throw in one more that's the way
to do it. People, Why don't we go ahead and
do it? So good for YouTube for allowing me to
say and you to say one more time. I don't
know what else is defined as a strong profanity word,
but if it's an F bomb, like yep, it's time
(07:45):
to make some monet. I like that story. That's pretty good.
And with that, we're taking it to first break. If
this is the first time you've ever heard this show,
you see we don't take ourselves too seriously. We try
to entertain you. We try to have fun, and we
also take your calls too easy. Not if you want
to say, what's up the phone number three four six
two nine eight three nine two six that spells three
(08:07):
four six twenty nine texit.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Because I am the.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
High tech text and Michael Garko, don't go anywhere.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
We are going to be right back.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Back at it. We call this segment number two in radio.
We've been doing this over twenty three years or so,
certainly in the Houston area on KPRC, not too long.
In San Antonio, woa I, how are you? What's up
san Antonians or is it san Antonio White? Either way,
I love you I love your I love the food,
I love the tex mix, I love the river, I
love everything about it. H And also Dallas, my hometown,
(08:58):
my parents, they may be listening on talk radio eleven ninety,
all my buddies, all my high school people shout out
w T White, Longhorns, orange and white. Michael Garfield is
the name. If you're from Dallas and you think the
name kind of sounds familiar, Mike may may kind of
strike accord in your mind. I went by Mike growing up.
(09:20):
I don't know why. It was just it. And so
I'll run into some high school folks, like I just
had a high school reunion about a year and a half,
coming up with two years ago. I'm i gonna tell
you what you here, and Hey, Mike, what's going on?
Hey Mike, I hear your CAREW is doing pretty good
down in each town. I'm like, yeah, at some point,
there were so many doing it you don't want to
(09:42):
correct them. You just don't want to correct that. I'm
just I'm just really not a Mic anymore. I would
specifically remember switching my name to Michael. It was my
I think it was my sophomore year in college, and
maybe because the fact, Michael Jackson was the thing. I
mean there was. He was the biggest thing around. I'm like, no,
(10:04):
I need maybe Michael sounds like a little bit more respectful,
So do I have been Michael? But if we are
tight though, my dear listeners, you know me, And it
actually happened once or twice this week. It's really fun.
Garf g A r F. Not Garth like Wayne's World
and Garth. This is Garf, like the first four letters
(10:25):
of Garfield, A cat, Garfield, the president, Garfield, my midle name.
So it was Garth. Actually I was on a plane
and I was actually getting ready on a getting ready
to come back to Houston on a plane. It was
earlier this week, by earlier this week, and I was
standing in line in the United Club and I was
trying to get some sort of a snack and somebody
(10:46):
was looking at me. I'm like, what did I do?
And he's a long time listener, maybe listening right now.
And I apologize for not remembering his name, but thank
you so much for listening a long time. I mean,
this dude was a listener. He remembers, you know, Ramone
when he was producing and working with me on my show,
how we used to travel on United to go to
exotic locations to broadcast like Mexico. I mean, you remember everything.
(11:08):
And we were just talking and he was, you know,
thank you me for entertaining him all these years. It
was very very nice. And uh and I said, okay, well,
well actually i'll guess i'll see on the plane. We're
on the same play to Houston. He goes, okay, garf,
see you later. I love it, man, I love it.
That's tight. So anyway, if you, if you do call
three four six twenty nine, Texan right now, and I'll
look at Callum. Calum, you're answering the phones over here.
(11:29):
If anybody wants to call me, Mike, just do just
hang up on them, would you would you do that?
Would you do that? Good? That's three minutes of time
I just killed because it's the dead dead of the summer.
Even though it is August, it is football season right now.
The number again is three four six. Got a few
seems like a few questions on hold, Maybe I'll get
to you, Michael, my son's going to uh high school?
(11:52):
Does he need a laptop? Does he need a tablet?
The ant The quick answer to that, it's it's on
your school. There are some schools I remember some colleges
who specifically made you buy and bring a specific brand
of a computer. I remember, I guess it was Harvard
(12:14):
years and years and years ago. They wanted you to
have an Apple, They wanted you to have that MacBook.
They wanted you to bring a tablet. The tablet thing
was new to me until my oldest son went to
college and this is now thirteen fourteen years ago, and
they didn't ask for a specific laptop or anything because
(12:34):
he was getting a Microsoft laptop because that's what companies
sent me. So he was getting one of those. But
he wanted a tablet, and I resisted. I resisted. Yes,
Daddy war Book, Daddy garf over here, who can get
pretty much almost any technology product to test, to play
with for himself and for his kids. I was like,
why do you need it. You're getting a beautiful new laptop.
(12:57):
Why do you need a tabot?
Speaker 4 (12:58):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (12:58):
I need a tablet tablet. And so we got them
a tablet. And I don't think it was an iPad
because I don't really don't believe in Apple products. I'm
sure it was a Windows type of pet and he
used it but nowadays laptops are convertible. There's two and
one laptops, there's three and one laptops where laptops can
actually flip around three hundred and sixty degrees, where you
don't need to use the keyboard. You can use them
(13:20):
like a tablet. The tablets. The keyboards come unattached. There's
a lot of things that you could do to actually
save money. If you want anything specific, I'll try to
pick up some of those phones. But I get But
I guess the answer is to a lot of the parents.
You know, is there a specific type of brand? No,
it's not. And would I would recommend this the younger
(13:40):
they are, let's just say high school, or if there's
some reason they wanted to go in middle school. I mean,
I guess do grade school? You know, kids need desktops
or at home or laptops. I don't know. I think
I'm aged out of that group. But look for something
maybe like a chromebook. A chromebook. It's it is not
a Mac, it's not an Apple, and there are several
(14:03):
manufacturers who make chrome Books. They are laptops. It's very light,
their laptop style. They can come in any they can
come in fifteen, sixteen, seventeen inch larger screens for laptops.
They can come in nine or ten inch screen smaller laptops,
but they are much more inexpensive than a Windows laptop.
So if you really have to put it in a
(14:23):
few buckets, there's a Windows laptop, which are made by
a number of different manufacturers, Sony, Samsung, Microsoft has their
own brand. A SEUs makes us some great wins too.
But then there's the MacBooks which run the Apple operating system.
So I'm gonna put those in two bags. Okay, I'm
not gonna get into the Linux and things, so I'm
just got it's two buckets. But then I guess there's
(14:46):
a third bucket, and I will liken chromebooks closer to
typical Windows laptops. But chromebooks are laptops to make it
as simple as we can, but they don't use Microsoft
Windows operating system all right, So I guess there is
a third bucket area. There's no microsoftware, and by not
using or licensing the Microsoft software, you're saving a lot
(15:11):
of money. Example, a sous Asus actually one of my
favor one of my most used laptops that I get.
I get a new laptop from them to play with
every few months. They really do great stuff, very thin,
very light, because that's the stuff I like. I don't
like schlepping around something heavy and big. They sent me
an a Sous Chromebook about two weeks ago, and this
(15:32):
is one that I think is being sold in Walmart.
And the last I checked at Walmart, this a Sous
brand new one one hundred and fifty seven dollars. One
hundred and fifty seven dollars. That is a really inexpensive
laptop that works well. Now to be sure, I would
not get it for anybody in a corporate atmosphere. I
(15:55):
were not getting anybody who is doing web design and
high Howard gaming. No, now this one doesn't even this
doesn't have a touch screen. A lot of laptops have
touch screens right now. They're relatively rudimentary, but they were.
If you want to surf the web, if you want
to put some sort of word processor on there, yeah
you can use You could add Microsoft Office on there
(16:17):
if you want to, which is word and but also
you can get some free ones. Google has you know,
free office types of tools too, that kind of mimic
what word does and what Excel does. To so quick tip.
I would potentially look at those for high schoolers because
those high schoolers they a potentially could use it, lose
(16:37):
it a little bit more, you know, easily. So you
don't want to, you know, be out another fifteen two
hundred two thousand dollars and they could break, they could
leave them behind, they could whatever I mean. May I
mean they may not be as responsible with all respect
because they're freaking kids. Okay, it's as simple as that.
So look into chromebooks in that and then may be
one of your suggestions. So I got that for you.
(16:58):
We're going to take a break. We're at the bottom
of the hour. When we come back. What have we
got over here? Let me through the old email mail
bag over here talk about VPNs. People are still traveling.
Oh the way, there's an interesting story out of the
UK about VPNs and at parents. I got another one
for you. Do you track your kids, maybe your younger kids.
(17:19):
Do your kids have a phone that can be trackable? Well,
there's a new product, not a device, there's a new
product that almost every single kid has right now, and
you could put a tracker in there, but they may
not be able to know there's a tracker in there.
(17:40):
That is a tease right here on the Michael Garfield
High Tech Dexan Show. Yet any money here? I argue,
(18:01):
you know, before licensing and playing music, we'd actually have
much better bump music. I personally will apologize for that.
It used to be that way, but alas such as
the way of corporations. Michael is a name, Michael Gorefield.
That's called the High Tech Texan Show. Hour one. We're
at the bottom of the hour. Back to school football
season starts this month of August. Lots of things going on.
(18:22):
Also an anniversary. Where were you August first, nineteen eighty one?
I was a teenager in Dallas people. But I'll tell
you what, Maybe I was about a little late to
the party. I don't think we had cable until about
a year later. But video killed the radio star that day.
If you are in your forties, fifties, early early I'm
(18:47):
gonna say early sixties all the way down to your
your I don't know, late forties, early fifties, what your
generation acts? All right? I am generation. I am the
very very very front end of generation acts. And was
there a you have to think of the top two,
(19:07):
top three, biggest paradigm shifts, seminal moments that changed a generation,
that changed culture. Now I can look at older generations
and we could talk about wars and World War two
and the Greatest generation. I was not born in that era.
I was not born when JFK was assassinated. I'm just
(19:28):
a sly younger than that. I missed the Beatles revolution.
They were still there, but I missed when they came.
And you know, nineteen sixty four and everybody was big.
My parents still remember that. But for my generation, in
my age, there is nothing bigger culturally and I use
the word culturally than the launch of MTV. It was
(19:49):
August first, nineteen eighty one. MTV, which is still in
existence in some way, shape or form, at least in
name only, is still on cable right now. But what
MTV did It changed the game of fashion music without
a doubt, music videos style, the way video in movies
(20:13):
were were shot. And I know this because I'm a
radio television film major. I wanted to be a film
director and producer. And you know it's just the editing
and that the quick cuts and just it was crazy
forty four years ago. And you know, listen, I'm nostalgia,
but it's like, oh, forty four years ago. But I
(20:33):
wanted to just mention it yesterday because every you know,
I mentioned it because it was August first Friday, I
know exactly the day it was. The first ten videos,
if not even the twenty videos that I could tell you,
but video did to some extent killed the radio Star.
Also some of the other things I've been watching as
a gen xer. CNN did a I think it's a
(20:54):
two part at least recap of Live Aid. Live Aid
was at nineteen eighty six. Yeah, I think it was
eighty six. It was a worldwide concert. Half of it
was done in London, half of was done in Philadelphia
here and it was a two part thing. I watched
it on CNN pretty good. Bob Geldoff, founder of the
(21:15):
Boomtown Rats, he kind of was led the whole Live
Aid thing. It was a really neat documentary. I kind
of like, I like the part two and then I
saw another one. Has anybody seen the Billy Joel documentary
on HBO Max. I really enjoyed that Billy Joel phenomena.
People I think sleep on Billy Joel. He took kind
(21:38):
of a little hiatus in the later part of his career,
and now obviously he's he's back in the news right now,
obviously because his HBO Max. He did this NonStop stint
for ten eleven twelve years at Madison Square Garden. He
had a residency over there. It was relative. I'll tell
you this, I'm a billy Joel fan, probably even a
(21:59):
bigger Billy Joel f fan now that I've seen it.
It was a very long documentary. I don't think documentaries
are kind of meant to be this long. There are
two parts, two and a half hours each. First part
was out about him growing up in the early days
and the angry young man, the piano man type of thing.
But I really like the second one. Christy Brinkley had
(22:19):
some interviews, which was one of his wives, his daughter
was in there. Talked about his family, really unbelievable story
in part two, how his family grew up, in his
grandfather escape from Nazi Germany. But just do it, just
knee career. So again, music plays so such a large
part of my life. It plays such a large part
of all of our lives. I'll say it again. Music
(22:41):
is really one of the only things that can take
you back in time where you hear a song, and
most often it was, oh, I remember this. It was
in high school, I was in college. This was my
prom song. This was the first dance I did at
my wedding. It was something like that. Music takes me back,
(23:02):
Which is why I'm an eighties guy. If we still
have Sada Kid, if I aren't had the extra money
in cash and they wanted to fork out the licenses
for podcasts so we can play all the songs we
want to, all my bump music would be eighties Music's listen.
I've done this radio show here twenty three years. For
the first sixteen to seventeen years, there was no rules.
(23:25):
We could do anything we want. I would specifically play
eighties music, all right. It was just all ladies. Now
we can't. We got to play old you know, just
kind of milk toast type of stuff. But I'm an
eighties guy because I was. I was in high school
in the eighties, and I was in college in the eighties.
MTV was in the eighties, and I will still see
every single, almost every single eighties band. Where these dudes now,
(23:47):
these dudes and ladies, they're now in their sixties and seventies,
if not even the eighties. Right now they're still out
there jamming. So with that, we keep on moving on.
Is this a technology show? Somebody come remind all right?
I tease this, let me pay it off. Right now,
we're talking about back to school stuff. And if you're
talking about back to school stuff, how young are your
kids where you actually put a tracker, an Apple air
(24:11):
tag or something maybe in their backpack? This was it
wasn't even a thought when I was in school, and
when my kids were even in school twenty years ago,
you know, when they were really young. But you want
to track your kids for safety, and I understand it too,
and honestly I probably would also if my kids were
(24:32):
young and we had the technology like we do right now. Well,
there's something that your kids, almost every single one of
your kids has right now that you may want to
go get a new style or new model if you
want to track your kids, but you don't want to
let them know you're tracking them. Tennis shoes. And for
those of you not in Texas, I guess you can
(24:53):
call them gym shoes, you can call them sneakers, but
here in Texas, we call them tennis shoes. Not tennis shoes.
They're just tennis shoes. By the way, you want to
coke with that? Yeah, you want a pepsi doctor pepper.
I don't care, You're gonna get a coke. Tennis shoes
is what it is. Sketchers maybe not your favorite shoe brand,
but Sketchers just released a helicopter parents dream shoe. It's
(25:15):
a new line of shoes called Find My Sketchers and
an encouragence. It encourages parents to hide an Apple air
tag or at least some sort of an air tag
tracker under the heel and a little hidden compartment. So
parents have tracking your kids on snapshat wasn't enough, and
(25:36):
tracking their smart watch really doesn't quite cut it. Now
you can hide a tag on their person. I mean,
think about the days. You know, I'm gonna go back
to the days again. Remember running around the neighborhood with
your friends and being told to be home for dinner
or biking to them from school. I mean, just you know,
(25:57):
pretty much when it was dark you got home and
just left your bike whoever it is. Nowadays, parents want
to know where their kids are. And I understand that
I'm not making light of it, but these shoes may
help is now. I'll give me about a minute to
explain it, then we could take some calls. Is this
something you would do as a parent? Would you buy
these things? They come in children's sizes as old as
(26:17):
ten years old. So I guess Sketchers thinks we're leaving
our toddlers unsupervised to the degree that we need to
hide trackers in their shoes. I'm not sure. But here's
my other question. Do you think a ten year old
ain't going to figure out what their parents bought them
an air tag tracking shoe? Saw this stat forty two
percent of ten year olds own a smartphone. Forty two
(26:40):
percent of ten year old kids own a smartphone. I
mean these kids may even be smart enough to know
that they're being alerted that an air tag is following them.
That's possible. I mean, if you think about it, kids
could be smart and take their shoes off. So the
feature is going to help locate their shoes left at
school or at camp or a sleepover. That could be good.
It's a secure, hidden compartment where parents can hide air
(27:04):
tags and whatever, and it notes that your child won't
be able to feel it in their shoes. I don't know.
Is this what we've come to. Why don't to me?
I think it's communication. Talk to your kids, certainly if
you think they're old enough at one point, maybe ten
years old, to get them a phone, maybe to get
them their own laptop, maybe to get them a whole
desktop inside their room versus a public space inside your house.
(27:25):
This is a parenting suggestion to parenting question parents would
love to hear from you. Phone number here on the
old Michael Garfield program three four six two nine eight
six and what's that We're going to.
Speaker 6 (27:36):
Be final segment this first hour of the High Tech
text In show.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
You can follow along spell the whole thing out online
hig e H T E x A N. It's called
High Tech Text and I have trademarked that. By the way,
Michael Garfield is the name. I do think if you
want to get in. This is a fun difference between
a podcast and a radio show. For the most part,
you know, this is a you know, plausly live radio show.
(28:18):
You can call right if you're listening on a podcast,
because then we take this two hour show. Callum, you
take the two hour show that we do, and then
he puts it on podcast on iHeartRadio and you could

They've been there for two decades. It's two generations of families.
We've got Kenny and Matthew Duncan. They're running it right now.
They're actually getting ready to open a whole new showroom
next door to where they are. If you're collecting coin,
(29:00):
if you're a new mismatist, which is legal to say
according to the FCC because it actually means a coin
collector new mismatist, this is where you start. You can
buye coins, sell your coins. Gold is going just through that.
When I met these guys a few years ago, gold
was like a thousand, eleven hundred dollars and Kenny was like,
Kenny Duncan's like, yeah, man, you need to buy gold.
(29:22):
I'm like okay, gold is like going Craig Cray right now.
So they are I should have listened to them. If
you want to sell your gold, these guys are the
way to do it. They are on Ien Katie Freeway
just outside of Loop six' ten so At voss AND i.

Them and they've got dozens and dozens of dozens coming
(30:04):
in all the, time and then you could buy another.
One so that's kind of LIKE i. Do i'm not
a big watch, guy but they really got me into
watches and so those guys are pretty. Strong. AGAIN Us
coins and. JEWELRY i would like to thank. Them, yeah
how about that for a back to school? Gift, hey,
dad CAN i get A?
Speaker 5 (30:18):
Rollie?
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Sure? Son, yeah not ONLY i want to also win
A Rolls royce. Too, yeah it's my. Kids DID i
did not. GO i don't know anybody actually actually may
know one family like. That but we move on from.
There you know the phone, number you know a number
of other. Things let's TALK. NFL i was very excited preseason.
Game first preseason game is under our belts right. Now
(30:39):
chargers took down The Detroit. Lions don't read too much into.
THAT i still Think detroit's going to be quite good this.
Year but one of the THINGS i did, notice if you,
didn't THE nfl has officially launched a virtual measurement. System
and this is something that's been a long time. Common
this is technology and. Sports these are two of My
(31:00):
these both of these subjects are in my. Wheelhouse so
you can move over chain. Gang you know those referees
who pulled that ten yard chain to measure the first.
Downs this new measurement, system it was introduced to THE
nfl and we got a first glimpse of it during
the Last thursday's preseason. Game it was The hall Of fame,
game and the first time we saw it was in
the first, half all, Right so rather than having this
(31:22):
chain gang run out to the, field the officials on
the field simply waited for a virtual measurement system to
calculate whether the veteran running, back had you, know any
running back you, know made the line to gain a
Right it was handled pretty. Efficiently it did not disrupt
(31:42):
the flow of the, game but it it did leave
a few questions that because this is the first time
we've seen, it the IT'S i Believe sony is using
their technology to help. It and if you're you're a tennis,
fan if you've watched tennis matches ON tv over the,
years They tennis uses something called The Sony hawkeye, system
(32:05):
and you've probably seen. It anytime that a player tennis
player thinks a ball is either in or out or
hit the, line they can ask for a review and
within seconds they'll see it on the big screens in the.
Stadium but we get a full screen of it ON
tv of this cartoonish like movement of the ball where it.
Lands they'll zoom in to see if it touched the,
(32:28):
line if it didn't touch the. Line it's the ind
all be. All tennis players have accepted. It we've accepted
it's pretty. Cool, well you, Know Major League baseball is
playing with the idea of you, know robotic umpires or.
Whatever but finally THE, nfl they've had an inexact science
of placing the football where it should be. Placed and
(32:52):
that's due to a number of. Reasons starting with the.
BALL a football is, oblong so depending on how a,
runner running, back, quarterback wide, receiver how they run and get,
tackled and where their knee hits the, ground that's where they're.
Down where was the last movement of the ball was
(33:12):
it at the front point of that ball that's pointing?
Forward was the ball kind of you, know cradled in their.
Hand where the point wasn't, Forward it was the side
of the. Ball it needs to be the exact. Point
so apparently there are little chips embedded in the ball right.
NOW i assume there ARE fid radio frequency, chips not
(33:32):
unlike what you have in your toll, Tag and there's
sensors all over the. Field and what happens is still
to me a little not direct, science because what happens
when the runner whoever advances the, ball they're. Down the
referee or the umpire, comes he picks up the ball
(33:54):
and he spots. It he moves it pretty much to
the center of the field and he spots. It that
is where the, discrepancy in my mind still can come
in what this is, Doing this virtual measurement system that
THE nfl using is measuring not so much exactly where
the ball, was no doubt down according to, technology but
(34:17):
where the referee spotted the. Ball so is this ceremedy
for exact. Science, no it's. Not it's a step, closer
and in our lifetime and actually hopefully you, know shorter than,
that there will be a much more dedicated and specific
(34:39):
measurement system where maybe there's going to be more microchip
receivers embedded in the field up and down somewhere that
we know exactly what inch marker on the field that
ball hit the ground when that runner was. Down but
as a right, now this is measuring where the referee
(35:00):
spots the. Ball it's. Interesting there will be, controversy without
a doubt pretty much for the fact of WHAT i just.
SAID i don't know if THE nfl coaches are going
to be able, to you, know throw a their red
challenge flag and, say, hey wait a, MINUTE i didn't
like the spot of the ball that. Referee, man it
(35:20):
really was right here versus right. There it's going to
open in somewhat of a new can of. Work but
you know, what kudos to THE nfl for at least
trying this, thing trying this. Thing you know, what kudos
for the kudos for football. Season it's back THAT i
actually could talk about something like, this at least at
least that this little. Keptain michael wish here our number
one officially. Down next, hour going to have an. Interview
(35:41):
if you've traveled internationally and you're wondering, still how do
you keep in? Communication do you light up your phone's international?
Plan do you not even get anything and just Use
Wi fi wherever you? Go do you get a NEW
sim card here or the country you go? In do
you use AN e AND electr chronic? Simcard they have
an answer for. That one of the many things.
Speaker 4 (36:03):
We're gonna talk.
Speaker 1 (36:03):

going to be here for a, while but it's nice to.
Say we're in football seasons the first weekend Of august
of twenty twenty. FIVE i do thank you for hanging.
Around if you missed the first. Hour we talked a
little thing about THE nfl finally using technology with their
(37:51):
virtual measurement. SYSTEM i talked about the nice big anniversary
OF mtv happy forty four years until my generation and
everything about it was. Changed do you have your emails
and phone calls back to school without a? DOUBT i
got an email from a parent asking is there a
specific type or brand of a computer my kid needs
to take to high school or. COLLEGE i kind of
(38:13):
answer that if you, missed it sucks for. You you
should be listening to my show for two. Hours you've
done this for two, years two. Decades my Friends Alas calam, read,
well the guys on the other side of the glass
here they are going to take my two hours of
full entertainment and they were going to put it on our.
Podcast and you could do that by downloading the free
app we like. Free it's Called. iHeartRadio and a lot
(38:36):
of you may be listening to me On iHeart. RADIO
a lot of you maybe not even listening to me
on traditional radio like your. Car you could be listening
to me on one of your smart speakers like The Amazon.
Echo maybe it's A google type of, thing and all
you need to. Do you can listen to me around

hey listen TO kprc nine fifty am On iHeart. Radio
you could say, Hey, dallas listen to Talk radio eleven
Ninety dallas On iHeart, radio and all of a, sudden
my voice should come out of the that speaker right.
Now it's pretty. Cool did not happen WHEN i started
(39:23):
this twenty three years. Ago just if it was fathomable to,
ME i would would have owned my own. Islander i'd
certainly been retired Alas i'm working on a. Weekend so
there you. Go there's another one my eighties reference songs for. You,
hey speaking of, eighties is was it eighties or was it?
Nineties who saw? This The Happy gilmore? TWO i was
(39:44):
talking about some of the. THING i was watching The
Billy joel documentary ON hbo MAX. I i like The
Live aid documentary that was ON. Cnn that was good.
TOO i WATCHED i am An Adam sandler. Fan Adam
sandler fan through and. Throw i've seen almost every single
one of his. MOVIES a few of his movies are
WHAT i call my comfort. Movies If i'm not feeling,
(40:06):
good If i'm kind of a down or an odd
place in my. Life there are a few movies That
Adam sandler, makes And Will ferrell, too THAT i will
watch over and over. Again it's like My, Woodie it's
like my cozy type of. Thing i'm An Adam sandler.
FAN i, never, ever, ever at, thirty after thirty nine,
years watched the Original Happy. GILMORE i don't know WHERE
i was WHEN i was, released maybe within the time
(40:27):
THAT i. CARED i just heard iffy things about. IT
i Watched Happy, gilmore the original, one about three weeks
ago with my. SON i was up In austin visiting.
Him it happened to be. ON i actually did not like.
IT i did not Like Happy gilmore just he was
one of the ones THAT i didn't. Resonate it didn't
carry over thirty nine. YEARS i just did not Like Happy.
Gilmore So i'm, thinking AM i even gonna watch this second?
(40:49):
One well came out last week On. Netflix it is
NOW i think had more views than any OTHER us
based film ever released on exclusively On. Netflix SO i watch,
it AND i gotta tell you. THIS i Liked Happy
gilmore too much better THAN i Liked Happy Gilmore, one
the original ONE i. Did, yes you take it for
(41:09):
what it. Is it's An Adam sandler comedy and. Alone
you know he's gonna have every single one of his
friends and family members and sports athletes making appearance or.
Whatever that's How sandler. Rocks, okay that's How sandman does.
It the story it was it WAS Pga tour versus
live golf to some, extent all, right but they had real.
(41:30):
Golfers AND i gotta tell you, what The scotty Freaking
Shuffler dallas, Boy university Of texas, Boy Scotti scheffler was.
Hilarious will zalatoris another, Golfer phgo, Golfer very very. Funny
there were some funny lines in there THAT i did
kind of. Chuckle if you Have, netflix, yeah watch it
(41:51):
if you had absolutely nothing to do and you're waiting
for football to, Start that's WHAT i would. Say but UT's.
There there's my review right. THERE i also Saw super
in the theaters was. Okay it was it was. FORGETTABLE
i saw it air conditioning for two hours and fifteen. Minutes,
INTERESTING i actually forgot it right the same, thing same
(42:13):
thing WITH f one that was even more. Forgettable didn't
really LIKE f one. Whatsoever i'm just. Listen i'm a movie,
Critic i'm a semi. REVIEWER i know WHAT i, LIKE
i know WHAT i don't. Like what do you? Like
phone number here three four six twenty, nine text in
three four six two nine eight three nine two six
if you want to get it over. Here let's see
what else we could talk. ABOUT i. WAS i did
(42:35):
a few restaurants this. Week i'm based In houston right,
now AND i do get invited to a lot of
these media, invites whether it's a new. Restaurant by the,
Way Houston Restaurant weeks just. Started i'm a big fan
Of Houston Restaurant weeks and my longtime friend we miss
her to this. Day Cleverly. Stone she created that years
and years. Ago her Daughter katie continues to run it right.
Now there are hundreds and hundreds for restaurants that you can.
(42:56):
Go you can get prefix a price fixed meals for, lunch,
dinner a portion that goes back to charity and it's
a wonderful thing to. Do but, ANYWAY i went to two,
restaurants one of which was Called High. Key it's An
asian steakhouse sushi type of. Place it's a kind of
A River Oaks uptown. Area not, bad pretty, cool it's
(43:18):
very sexy. Vibe the vibe is kind of. Crazy and
THEN i went downtown To guard And, grace longtime favorite
steakhouse of. Mine the fact IS i really don't eat.
Steak it's neither here nor. There but they had a
really neat new menu and they did a celebrity chef
Pairing Tristan. Epp everybody heard this chef who won On Top.
Chef he's A houston dude Named Tristan, epps so he was.
(43:41):
There he got together with a celebrity, Chef Troy, guard
Who i've known for, years and they kind of put
this five six courset meal. Together that was. Nice And
i'm just giving you ideas of what to. Eat one
of the REASONS i do that is BECAUSE i don't
get food delivered to. ME i do not use uber,
EATS i do not do door dash uh. Huh because to,
me with all the, respect unless something's, wrong that's the
(44:02):
lazy way to do. It how hard is it to
get into your car and go. Somewhere, YES i know
covid kind of changed, anything But i'm not. That But
i'll see some of these, reviews AND i saw this
thing that that uber eats is. Doing uber eats now
is USING ai for some of their new menu. Items
so if you go to a, website or if you
(44:25):
go to uber eats and you pull up this restaurant
and you want to see what sushi macaroni and cheese
steak looks, like they're USING ai to maybe embellish the
food photos and maybe the menu. Description is this a good?
Thing if? Not BECAUSE ai tools can be used to
generate descriptions for menu items and just make something sound
(44:45):
very very sex. A it could highlight. Feedback it can
make a you, know a piece of chicken or a
piece of fish look even better than it. Is it's
IT'S i don't know if that's a good thing BECAUSE
i think they generally rely on users up loading their own. Photos,
LISTEN i do it. TOO i take a foot When i'm.
Reviewing you, know if you go to My instagram right
now AND i want you to look at high tech
(45:06):
textan thank you for following. Me hi g H t
e H t e X. An you'll see a lot
of the, videos a lot of photos THAT i took of.
FOOD i didn't really embellish. THEM i MEAN i added
a little light just to make a little, lighter just
BECAUSE i wanted to see What i'm looking. At but
uber eats now they're allowing customers to upload photographs of
their own food and you can leave a. Review AND
i THINK i heard That uber may hey some of
(45:32):
their users if their photos are. PUBLISHED i don't. KNOW
i don't need to add a, ton BUT i do
get to see some cool stuff. Before maybe real restaurants
are open to the. Public MAYBE i should start going
to uber eas and getting paid to put some photos over. There,
anyway be careful what you. Eat i'm here for. You
and if anybody real quickly before the break has any
suggestions For houston restaurant, weeks why not let me. Know
(45:53):
three four six twenty, Nine, Texan we're gonna come back
talk a little About. Halloween, Oh i'm a Big halloween.
Guy and if you like those big Massive mama skeletons
from Home depot in your front, yard they're scared, that
you know, what out of, kids it's going to get
a little bit more. SCARED i love this story coming.
Speaker 3 (46:11):
Up go, Move.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
Michael. Garfield we'll call it The Michael Garfield. Show it's
also called The High Tech Texan. Show we talk so
much more about. TECHNOLOGY a matter of, fact if you've
been listening for an hour and fifteen minutes or whatever
it is right, now how little HAVE i talked about.
Tech i've talked a little about computers and laptops for
back to. SCHOOL i did talk about a New sketcher's
tennishue for kids that allows parents to super QUOL i
(47:00):
at least secretly sneak in a tracker so they can
track their kids inside their. Shoes But i've talked about
FOOTBALL nfl using their Virtual measurement. System i've talked about.
Restaurants to talk about the number of. Things this is
What i'm all over the, place just. TRY i talked about,
Movies Happy, Go More, Too, superman a lot of other
fun STUFF i talked TO i just mentioned That uber
(47:23):
eats may start paying users to put post their photos
of food just to show what the you, know the
the appetizers the main courses look Like this is a
new one, too about paying. Things how kids. DO i
have three. Boys they're all. There they're adults right. Now
(47:45):
they range from twenty five to next, week the oldest
will be thirty one years, Old thank you very. Much
YET i don't look like, it but that's.
Speaker 4 (47:52):
Me.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
Uh they were tax ride. Offs at the end of the,
day kids actually have tax. Trized BUT i saw this
With china is. Doing AND i was In china earlier this,
year AND i Like. CHINA i thought it was really
interesting to visit and. Things they've got their own ways
of doing. Things there are some parents right now who
probably wish they live In china because the government is
(48:15):
paying families five hundred dollars a year her baby until
the child turns. Three it's a cash, incentive it's a
birthing incentive to remedy the country's ongoing population, decline because
if you have a population to, decline it could threaten
(48:37):
to undermine its. Economy facts right, now And i'm a fact,
Guy china's fertility rate drop from two point five to
one children per woman in nineteen ninety two and a
half kids per women in nineteen ninety to one point
zero one last. Year china apparently needs a two point
one rate to maintain stable. Population the number of annual
(49:01):
births have nearly halved from twenty, sixteen, halved so local
Governments china they offer their own baby bucks incentive Inner mongolia.
Region by the, way they give up to fourteen thousand per.
Child this is a money baby. Boom where was this
(49:25):
in the nineties when we were popping out. Kids let's
go back To. China five hundred years per five hundred
dollars per baby until they turn turn, three so you're
gonna get what three thousand dollars Five, yeah you can
get three thousand dollars for the first three. Years back,
listen it sounds. Enticing And i'm not trying to have
(49:48):
people out there make some. Babies there for an, hour
And i'm, saying because three thousand years a drop and
a hat of what a kid's gonna cost, you how?
Much what's the stat right? MAN i may make this,
Up so don't listen it to. Him only you can
listen to have but put one year open right? Now
is it a million dollars of having a kid being
born all the way through the end of. COLLEGE i
don't know why that's stuck with. Me it may not
(50:09):
be a, million it's a lot of. Money you think
three thousand dollars knocked off the front endic you, know
just not even gonna knock, off you, know a doctor's.
Visit what is The i'll open in this one up
to the phone lines, three, four, six twenty Nine. Texan
what's the proper dollar? Figure what's the proper dollar figure for?
(50:30):
You let's just say you could have a baby without.
Whatever hold you all, right all, right you're in the baby.
Mood how much is gonna? Do you want to have a?
Baby you give me, LISTEN i can't have babies. Anymore
let's just let me say. Anymore AND i don't want
a new baby. Anymore you give me A. Milski you
give me a million dollars to have. Baby Big daddy's
(50:52):
getting something reverse right? Now, okay it will walk that
kid to freaking school all twelve years of its school
for A. Milski that's that's my over. UNDER I, actually
you know What i'm gonna. DO i am gonna be
become a baby. Agent i'm gonna be an agent that
(51:13):
negotiates between the government and you to find out to
get you a good sum of having a. Baby, Now
i'll take twenty percent standard for an. Agent i'm cool with,
that but that's that's what you. Need So, china that's
(51:33):
a little. INTERESTING i thought that was. It thoughts on,
that you, know get a hold of. ME i had
actually my first, son who will be my oldest. Son
he'll be a thirty one this. YEAR i jokingly said
THAT i had kids so THAT, i in my adult,
life could continue to have a reason to legally trick
(51:56):
or treat At. HALLOWEEN i Love. Halloween halloween is the
best most fun holiday of the year for. Me for,
ME i don't Celebrate, christmas So halloween to me is
my opportunity to decorate my home AND i have long
when the kids were, young held, crazy Big halloween parties
(52:23):
at my. House kids were, young all three boys were.
YOUNG i would Have i'm not kidding. You it wasn't
On halloween night BECAUSE i wanted to go trigger. Treating
it was right around. There it was parents and their
kids at one, POINT i, think And i'm not kidding.
You it's not LIKE i had a big. Eus we
had one hundred people inside, outdoors pool brought in a bounce,
(52:45):
house catered it made everybody dress. Up every, YEAR i
had a. Theme everybody had to bring some sort of
a fun food themed dessert or something like. That it
was a. Blast Then halloween rolls. Around and the REASON
i Like halloween so much because, again it takes me
back to a. Kid and, Yess I'm Peter. Pan i'm
never gonna grow. Up it's just as simple as. That
(53:07):
where what other night of the year in any world
that we live, in can you go up to some stranger's,
door ring a doorbell and say give me some candy
and you just walk away with sugar and you keep.
Going AND i remember my buddies and we're probably, twelve,
(53:32):
thirteen fourteen years. Old and, Listen i'm not putting a
cap on. Anything, really we were out for three to
four hours on school nights and we would have pounds
and pounds and pounds of. CANDY i, mean, LISTEN i.
WOULD i could probably open up a candy. STORE i
Rivaled hershey manufacturing. ITSELF i love. It so at some, point,
yes MAYBE i was just a little too. Tall i'm
(53:53):
gonna call it too tall a trick or. Terry WHEN
i was six foot, TALL i had my first, kid
my first, son In august AS i, said he's giving
meay to turn thirty. One so he was not two
and a half months old at his very First. Halloween
two and a half months. Old hand to, God i'm
not making the story. UP i put him in a
(54:14):
little pumpkin. Outfit he was sleeping On october thirty. First
the night Of october thirty, first nineteen ninety, FOUR i
went door to door holding this kid in my arms
with a trigger treat BAG i AND i don't THINK
i had a mask. On i'm like trigger trade my
(54:34):
son's First, Halloween and of COURSE i got the, oh
hey you want some? Reces, yeah thank you very. Much
point Is halloween's coming. AROUND i don't decorate my house,
anymore But i've been seeing some of these. Decorations if
you got is it Home? Depot i'm not sure which.
One apparently there's this massive skeleton THAT i think blows.
(54:58):
Up it's a twelve foot tall. SKELETON i think his
name Is skelly six and a half. FEET i think
there's a twelve foot tall. SKELETON i saw this that home.
Depot just this, year they are introducing a new ul Trust.
Skelly it's Called it's Pretty. Tall but it's got animated.
(55:21):
Features there's an app that has lighting effects and the
ability to talk to trigger treaters through a mobile. App
the upper torso in the, head they can rotate independently with.
Motors the skeleton's arm can move up and. Down there's
led lights in its mouth and it's. CHEST i love.
THIS i need to call home. DEPOT i need one
of these. Things two hundred and seventy nine. DOLLARS i don't.
(55:47):
CARE i don't even have room to put this anywhere
in my front, house front. Lawn i'm gonna do this.
Thing this is just. NEAT i need to test one
of these. THINGS i need to do A, instagram a
little love video in this. Thing this is What. Halloween

to skip out on my home base Of texas because
it's just disgust o. HERE i love the, state, man
but traveling with to much cooler climates and countries is.
Great and over the past what three four? MONTHS i
mean every year this time of, YEAR i talk about
what to, do what type of tech gear you should,
get some tips of what to do when you're, traveling
especially when you go. ABROAD a lot of people ask
(57:24):
me questions all with, Them, Hey Michael, MAN i, mean
how DO i stay in? Communication SHOULD i light up
my cell phone with a NEW sim? Card SHOULD i
call my you, know my current data? Provider WHAT i
may well? Recommend And i've talked about this the past
several times this past, summer shortly SINCE i got back
to my trip In, China las Last. April WHAT i
(57:46):
did IS i actually got used in E, sim particularly
from a company called Era, alo And i've talked about.
That for those of you who still don't get, it
who still don't understand the WAY i explain, Things i'm
gonna make it easy for. You i'm going to go
to the. Resource i'm gonna go to the. Source right.
Now i'm actually going to talk to for a few
minutes someone from Aar low. Herself i'm going to bring
(58:08):
it right. Now her name Is Emma. Brooks she is WITH.
Arrolo she joins you right. NOW i bet our sound is, Clear,
emma because you're talking on An arlow, simcard, right come,
on of. Course, Always, hey thanks so much for your.
TIME i really do appreciate. It for those who still
who don't know and you still can't understand the easy
(58:29):
WAY i explained, Thing i'm going to ask you what
exactly is an E sim and how does it?
Speaker 7 (58:34):
Work, absolutely and thank you so much for having me
on the trip and talking such great talk About. Aerlow
we're thrilled to hear. IT eSIM stands for an EMBEDDED
sim and it's exactly what it. Stands sounds like it's
a digital. Simcard so if your device SUPPORTS, eSIM you
can download a, data a, VOICE sms and data plan
straight to your phone and use that when you're connecting
(58:56):
abroad rather than, using as you, mentioned a TRADITIONAL sim card,
card you, know paying for roaming or just relying on
finding hotspots wherever you're. Traveling and because THAT eSIM is
built into your phone's, hardware everything happens, digitally which means
you don't need to be digging around for A sim,
tool or waiting in line when you get to the
airport to buy A sim, card or even just juggling
(59:17):
those MULTIPLE sim cards while you're traveling worried you might lose.
One so it's a traveler's, dream it really.
Speaker 1 (59:24):
Is it was very simple to, use and again there's
THERE'S i guess we'll talk about the traditional, type which
is THE sim. Card AND i think people may be
familiar with this. Thing every phone you have right now
in your hand to my listening audience right, now pretty
much if it's several years, Old traditionally they've had THIS
sim card and this this little tiny slot that you
(59:45):
take this little tiny paper clip device and you pop
it out and there's this card and it's about the
size of my my pinky. Fingernail it's a really. Thing
but that actually is that that's the phone, number and
that's the data type of. Thing and that's the traditional.
Card but newer phones and this is yes they're The,
iOS but also The android ones, too they have a
(01:00:06):
built in you, know the E sim opportunity where you
can download THAT eSIM. Number and that's HOW i did
it With. AEROLOW i went in AND i KNEW i
was traveling to a particular. COUNTRY i was trying to
figure out how much you, know you, know data was
going to use in terms of, gigs how LONG i
want to do is AND, i you, KNOW i paid for,
it AND i downloaded THE sim card AND i always
set the. Go what would you say some of the
(01:00:27):
main benefits of using AN eSIM From aerolow instead of
that TRADITIONAL sim CARD i just talked.
Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
About.
Speaker 7 (01:00:34):
Yeah, absolutely there's several key, benefits especially for, travelers as you,
mentioned like very convenient to. Use you download it and
you activate it remotely before you leave for your. Trip at,
home that means no, more you, know AS i, mentioned
searching for that LOCAL sim vendor when you get to your,
destination you, know dealing with multiple potentially physical, cards or
(01:00:55):
dealing with multiple PHYSICAL sim. Cards if you're traveling through
different countries even you're going to need DIFFERENT sim. Cards
and generally airlow sims are much more affordable than international roaming.
Rates allows you to avoid that dreaded bill shock when
you get home from your, trip when you realize you've
been roaming and paid for that. Roaming and the other
great thing is you can get transparent prepaid pacing up,
(01:01:17):
front so you decide how much you want to, spend
you don't have to spend more if you don't want
to spend, more and you always are able to check
in to see how much data you have. Left, generally
esyms are more, secure they're better for the, environment and
they really just help travelers stay.
Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
Connected works through if you could about how somebody would
set up and use an AIRLOW eSIM before. TRIP i
find it very easy and, convenient But i'm gonna let
you kind of explain.
Speaker 7 (01:01:41):
It, Yeah so the first thing we always say is
make sure that your phone IS esom compatible and network.
Unlocked as you, mentioned the newer smartphones generally ARE esom,
compatible but it's always good to make, sure and then
we recommend you set up YOUR eSIM a day or
two before you leave your. Trip for your, trips so
make sure you're on Stable Wi fi like at.
Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
Home very.
Speaker 7 (01:02:01):
Simple download the airlow, app create an, account start looking
through the plans based on what destination you want to go.
To once you purchase that, plan it walks you through
step by step installation. Guide and then before you. LEAVE
i say you're at the airport getting ready to take,
off just switch off your REGULAR sim for data and
turn on YOUR. eSIM what it does is as soon
as you, land it will connect instantly to the network
(01:02:24):
and you're good to. Go very very. Simple you also
can manage autotop up if you. Want that'll lets you
stay connected just in case you're running low on your.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
Data simple to. THAT i try to tell people like,
That why did you make it sound much easier THAN
i even? Did? You that's all. Simple talking With Emma,
brooks she is with aerolow ai R Alo. Aerolow you
can go google that talk about the number of destinations
or maybe the countries that aerolow. Supports right.
Speaker 7 (01:02:50):
NOW i, mean if you're traveling, somewhere we likely have
AN eSIM for that. Destination we have coverage in over
two hundred plus countries and, regions so pretty. GLOBAL i
do offer several different types of. Plans you can have
country specific plans if you're only traveling to one. Country
we offer regional plans if you're going To europe maybe
and traveling to a few different spots Like, Italy, France.
(01:03:10):
England and we also have global coverage with Our discover
And Discover plus. Plants so if you're a digital nomad
and you're kind of permanently, traveling we have a plan
that covers you anywhere you.
Speaker 1 (01:03:20):
Go you say, THERE i, mean are there any maybe
misconceptions that people have about. eSIMs you, know they're too,
tough they're too, easy may they're not. CONVENIENT i, MEAN i,
mean what's what's out? THERE i MEAN i find them,
Convenient but what do you?
Speaker 7 (01:03:33):
SAY i think the thing we hear most is that
people think esoms are only for really tech savvy. USERS
i think in, reality it's becoming easier to install over,
Time like some of it is the hardware dependency and
how the hardware your phone is actually set, Up but over,
time these newer devices are making it easier to install
and ACTIVATE, eSIMs and THEN eSIMs in general can just
(01:03:55):
help you keep you safe. Online you, know especially when you're,
traveling you're maybe connecting to some sketchy white fight. Connections
you don't necessarily know what people are able to, access
AND eSIM will keep you secure and safe because you're
using your own.
Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
DATA i, KNOW i, mean it makes. Sense before we
let you, go people want to learn more about. It
they want to get, started read about it like. That
what's before the next? Trip what's what's the best information
you can give.
Speaker 7 (01:04:19):
Us best place to start is download the airlow. App
you can get on both iOS And. Android within that,
app you can browse all the different plans we, have
install YOUR, eSIM check your, usage manage everything in one.
Place we also have our website at airload dot, com
so lots of helpful information, there step by step. Guides
we have a great travel blog if you want travel
tips and. Tricks and we also have support twenty four,
(01:04:41):
seven so if you, know in case you do get,
stuck our support team in there is really there to help.
Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
You what you're. Doing you're really making the world, smaller
right because no matter where you, go we're all.
Speaker 7 (01:04:51):
Connected, yes, absolutely we definitely agree with.
Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
THAT i like. It, okay all, Right so BEFORE i
let you, GO i JUST i just have one idea
that you, know maybe we should hook up with YOUR
pr company or your marketing. Folks here's here's my. SUGGESTION
i should actually travel do a worldwide, trip partnering With,
arrolo and no matter, What i'm gonna close my, eyes
spin the, Wheel i'm gonna fly over, there do my
radio show all connected through Aerolw, okay, good, Yeah SO
(01:05:18):
i have nothing else to do for the next, Month
let's let let's just travel around. Them and as you,
said it doesn't matter what country odds, Are arolo covers.
It so let's Get. Lily, Okay i'm gonna let you
work on. That, okay your key both contact my. People
it sounds it sounds. Good it sounds. Good, Listen Emma Brooks,
arrolow congrats on the. Success truly truly easy to use
(01:05:39):

the game's At Cabo. Bob's hopefully things weatherwise are gonna be.
(01:07:54):
Okay we've made it so far through Early, august at
least in The Gulf coast are without any ANY i
don't think there's been any hurricanes that have actually hit
THE us. GROUND i saw some discerning news, though which
chappened just a few days. Ago THE Us department Of
(01:08:15):
defense as. HERMANALLY i hate that, word but it's stream
of data from three weather satellites that are essential to hurricane.
FORECASTERS i thirty first was it last, day, which, oh
by the, way is the peak of The atlantic hurricane
season just coming weeks. Away really smart, boy, GOVERNMENT i tell,
(01:08:37):
YOU i don't know what is up with. That The navy,
officials it's because it's It's navy Stuff Apartment. Defense they're
restricting data access to three really big juggernaut weather, satellites
some of that have been in operation since two thousand and.
Five because the excuse is, this they're trying to mitigate
a significant cybersecurity risk to their high performance computing. Environs
(01:09:01):
they're saying these, satellites hackers could potentially get into these
satellites and do something with. It they did not explain
how the urgent it security issue would be, resolved if,
ever so they're, saying screw, it let's shut it. Down
(01:09:22):
the loss of data from these instruments that are aboard
these three defense, satellites it's, significant and it's devastating TO
us hurricane forecasters and to really to tropical cyclone forecast
agencies around the. GLOBE i will never figure. OUT i
(01:09:44):
will never understand government. Decisions. Politics if there's one THING
i don't delve. Into and you're a longtime, lister you
KNOW i really avoid. POLITICS i just keep it the,
football technology and fun stuff like. That but this is
a government, thing. Man it is The department Of. Defense
THE Us navy is permanently cutting off its stream of.
(01:10:04):
Data that is not good. News god help us. All
pray for us that we're still going to get early
warnings and is about as much good data as that
we can get to predict this. Things if you've Lived
i've lived in The Gulf coast area for thirty years right.
NOW i have been through a number of hurricanes that
have come right through the city Of, houston right over my,
(01:10:24):
House floods that have hit the. Town they're. Devastating there
needs to be. Predicted we have the technology you predict.
It predict it and if this is, indeed And i'll
take it at its, word maybe to some level an
it security, Issue, okay we have smart people to probably
get around. That but if it's, not if it's just
(01:10:46):
a game saving, money cutting, jobs that's. Crap that's bs
THAT i. DID i just don't like there you go
look at me getting into a little. POLITICS i just
thought that was out there in the world of what's
going on in the world of technology that actually confess,
it really it. CAN i don't see good news out of.
THAT i do not see good. News, Yeah i'm all
about saving, money but not for the sake of, safety
(01:11:07):
because that is. Safety So i'll continue to. Monitor interesting
WORD i choose right there of how that happens that
if it does affect us coming down the, pike let's,
see speaking of other, POLITICS i don't know how this was,
politics BUT i Saw Coca cola is launching a version
of coke WITH us purecane, sugar AND i guess it's
(01:11:29):
politics because The president said that he Urged Coca cola
to use the sweetener in Its american version of. Coke,
okay is is this a healthy? Choice? Though and this
is more of a rhetorical, thing and this Is i'm
(01:11:51):
not doing a political thing right. Now coke arter uses
already uses purecne, sugar and it's teas and lemonades and
coffees and vitamin waters and. Everything but for coke, itself
they used it's typically corn. Syrup. Mexico a Few european
countries they do use. Purecane i'm not gonna. Do people
(01:12:11):
can taste the. DIFFERENCE i think they. CAN i Know
Doctor pepper has what the the you, know the The
Dublin Doctor pepper with the. PURCANE i know To Coubo
BOB'S i just talked about a couple they don't Have
they do have a diet coke because they were forced
to put. It but everything else uses purecane. Sugar it's
not gonna drive the cost of so it is. UP
i drink coke zero and by nature coke zero will
(01:12:34):
not have sugar and it won't have, sugar so it's
not affecting. Me is it actually? HEALTHIER i don't. Know
next week we're gonna have. It next, Week i'm gonna
have a doctor and a meteorologist on to answer the
questions THAT i just opened up in the last segment
of the, show that that's WHAT i. Do we are
(01:12:54):
gonna start wrapping up the. Show we're gonna put a
bow on top of. IT i HOPE i gave you
something to think, about something to, laugh something to, win
something that you can. Use Because i've done it for

garfield and there you. Go you can find me High

cool technology tips and stories and fun things That i've been.

little bit more in depth about football and much more
into a lot of back to school stuff. Too is
we get the nitty gritty of those kids getting back to. School,

tuning it because right now my show is.
Speaker 5 (01:13:51):
Over, yeah
