In the high Tech Texan.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Michael Garfield is here with a high Tech Texans to
make life easier, new technology, and Michael Garfield has something
you might like.

iHeartRadio add now your high tech Texan Michael Garfield.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
Well, well, well, if you bet that the government would
end its holdout before the esp in Disney YouTube TV holdout, people,
cash in and get yourself back to work, bababy, because

(01:08):
the government is back in business, at least for now.
And if you have YouTube TV, you have not been
watching a lot of college football games or Monday night football.
And with that we do start the high tech text
and show just some of the very interesting things that
I do talk about. Yes, we do talk about streaming. No,
I do not talk about politics. I am happy that

(01:30):
the government has ended its Is it a holdout? I'm
not even sure, But anyway, just get the freaking planes flying.
Just just stop with this Michigan as of the three
hour TSA wait, that's what I care about. I also
care about people getting their paychecks getting back to work
as it should be. Oh my good. Ask me why
I don't cover politics because it's just bs. Then again,

(01:52):
I do cover streaming. I do cover media. Ask me
why Disney is losing over four million dollars a day
in revenue on the YouTube TV blackout. I understand it,
and we will get to that. However, let's talk about
the lineup today. If you do you have YouTube TV,
I'm going to tell you how you can get twenty

(02:12):
dollars back right now because they are rebating, for lack
of a better term, people, because you ain't getting ABC
and a number of other channels that actually have been
held off of YouTube TV. Also Apple, for you Apple fans,
they just launched a digital ID that is TSA approved.

(02:38):
Wait a minute, are we finally getting to the point
where we may not have to carry our cards on us,
our driver's license, our passports on us. I dig that.
I do dig that. Plus, we've got a brand new
phone that was just launched. Even though I've been super
secretly playing with for the past three weeks, I am

(02:59):
pretty pleased with Yes, it's an Android phone, so suck
it up. It is a very, very cool phone with
a very nice camera. I will tell you about that.
And by the way, if you are one of my
Houston and Dallas listeners, have you seen some of the
Waimo vehicles, the self driving Haxi type of vehicles. Well,

(03:23):
they've been in Austin for a while. What's up, Big
d What's up?

Speaker 2 (03:27):
H down?

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Because not only is WEAMO coming to these big cities,
WAMO is getting ready to allow its driverless cars on highways.
That's right before that, it was just on city streets.
So very soon, maybe rolling up and down it in Houston,
you're circling around LBJ Freeway. In Dallas, you're gonna look

(03:48):
over and it ain't gonna be nobody driving a car,
and you're gonna freak out. I will talk you off
the ledge with that. Those are just some of the
fun things that I talk about. Michael Garfield, that's the name.
This is the high tech textan show. Do not freak out.
It's not all tech. I am not going to tell
you how to fix your computer. I'm not going to
talk about motherboards, none of that stuff. That's the geeky

(04:09):
nerd stuff that in twenty three years I have never
talked about I'm going to tell you some really hot
gift item is because it is officially, whether you like
it or not, it's holiday season. We've got an Amazon
Black Friday sale. Get that's right. Not only does Amazon
have Amazon Prime Days, I got Amazon Black Friday sales.

(04:29):
Sales are already started. You're probably wondering, Michael, should I
get this TV? Should I get this phone? Should I
get this car? Do I need to? That's the stuff
that I do. I'm a consumer lifestyle a guy. I'm
going to tell you some of the fun things to download,
some of the ways to protect yourself when you're online,
some of the better vehicles to drive, because every week
I also get to drive a brand new vehicle, be

(04:53):
it an EV a pickup truck, an SUV, a CUV,
a sports car, and I'll act your bicycle, you name it.
I am your guy. For fifteen years I have done that.
This past week, I was rolling around in an electric
Kia e V nine and I'll kind of bary the
lead right now. If you're looking for an ev An

(05:14):
electric car, I've always easily top three that I've ever driven.
I've driven a lot of ev cars. The EV nine
it is a relatively large, one of the largest evs
on the road, good mileage, love the interior, smooth rowing
Kia EV nine. At some point during these next two hours,
I'm going to give you the review. With that, let

(05:35):
me tell you how you can get in, because I
do like to say this is an interactive radio show.
I've only been doing it a score well over twenty years.
Three four six, twenty nine text and that's three four six,
two nine eight three nine to six. Callum and will
they are on the other side of the glass. They

(05:56):
are picking up those phone calls. Maybe they will put
you through their me for some reason. You call three
four six two nine eight three nine two six, and
you get a voicemail that's probably my voice. It'll say,
please leave a message because we are overloaded right now.
I do have the right to play your voice to
answer a question, and if you do cuss, I am

(06:16):
not going to play that. If you make fun of
my hair or the fact that I am a big
long horn or a cowboy fans, I will not play
that on air. Keep it real, people, This is a
content driven show, and I'm trying to give as much
content as we do possible. High tech Tucsin Hi g
h T e h T e x A N. That
is the Instagram if you're not blocked. Also my website.

(06:37):
You can find my email on there. You can see
a lot of the YouTube and a lot of the
TV stuff that I've done. I'll tell you what, gotten
a lot of email from you people. It's really it's it. Listen,
it's nice. The fact is I've been doing this radio
show for twenty three years. The fact is I've been
doing television longer. In If you if you live or
travel through Austin, I'm on Fox seven. I have a

(06:57):
weekly segment every Monday morning. This past week, if you
were in Houston and you watch Great Day Houston nine
in the morning, hosted by my good friend Debora Duncan.
That is the CBS affiliate. I've long been a contributor.
You know, I come on and I bring some tech gadgets,
you know, holiday season or whatever. This past week I
have been I was I think I actually I took

(07:19):
over the show. I think I did. Last Wednesday, I
was at a live shot from downtown. I was covering
a Chase Business Bank event. Friday. I gotta tell you
this Friday, I got to do something was really cool.
So I go down Thursday to Galveston. And if you're
a longtime listener, I'm not the biggest fan of Galveston. Anyway,
I go down to Galveston, I spend the night because

(07:40):
Friday morning, I wake up early and there is a
brand new cruise line that is just that is now
just launched from Galveston. It is called MSc. You may
be seeing some of the TV commercials NonStop with Drew
Barrymore in Orlando Bloom, but MSc cruise line. So anyway,
I actually hosted a what we call a satellite media

(08:00):
tour on Friday morning. So I got to go on
the ship and I had to get Clarence Clarence. It
was me. I had my executive producer, I had my photographer,
I had a satellite guy, and we went up. There's
twenty levels. It's a floating hotel, holds fifty five hundred people.

(08:22):
He's got two two hundred rooms. Listen, don't think I
don't know the stats by now, all right, I got
to go in the morning. I did not go sailing.
I did not go on the It did not leave
port because it left Sunday. But anyway, for Friday, they
had a media thing, so no, I got up there
and I toured the ship and so if you were
in Houston, I reported live literally live from the ship

(08:42):
Friday morning in Houston on Great Day Houston. I then
was up in Dallas. I was live on I think
it's called Good Morning or Good Day Texas on w
FAA channel eight. That was me. Then I hopped over
to the San Antonio Morning Show. That I was on
a little Rock Arkansas morning show. That was fun. And
while I was in Galveston, I ate well, big shout
out to Salt Water Grill, my Buddy's Danny Hart, Johnny Smecha.

(09:08):
They own gosh what seven eight restaurants on the island.
At least I had a good meal. And it was
Biker Weekend. Two. If I ran into you at Biker Weekend,
I may have been one of the only eighteen people
on the entire Galveston Island who did not have a tattoo.
It was. It was a crazy fun dat. We'll tell
you more about my travels and travails. We are going

(09:30):
to take a break. When we come back. I am
going to talk about the Disney YouTube TV holdout. How
Disney is losing over four million dollars a day in
revenue because their channels are not on YouTube TV. When
is this dispute going to end? But if you do
have YouTube TV and you have not applied for your
twenty dollars credit, I'm going to tell you how to
do that, because that's what I did. Like Gogarfield does

(09:51):
a day and it's called The High Tech Techni Show.
We'll be right back. This radio program heard terrestrially across

(10:17):
Texas on the weekends in Houston and Dallas. It is
on a Saturday, San Antonio, Wai. I believe it's on
a Sunday. Listen. Football's in the fall. It is all
about football. It is all about football. And if you
have YouTube TV, yeah, kind of have been missing some football.

(10:37):
We're going to talk about that. Michael Garfield is the name.
It's called The High Tech Textan Show. Thank you so
much for joining me. If you're not listening terrestrially on
KPRC nine fifty in Houston, WAI, San Antonio Talk Radio
eleven ninety in Dallas, well you may be listening to
me on podcast or live streaming on the iHeartRadio. So
thank you for downloading that. I doubt iHeartRadio is going

(10:59):
to have a blackout and stop allowing you to listen
to the dulcet tones of my sexy voice. But when
it comes to Disney with all of its massive networks
including ABC and you know everything else that they have.
If you have YouTube TV, which is the right now

(11:19):
currently the fourth largest HAD carrier in the country, right
behind Spectrum and also behind Comcast, YouTube TV is in
a dispute with Disney, or actually Disney is holding YouTube
TV kind of hostage, which I don't like. I am
blaming Disney on this one. I'm a Bob Iger fan,
I'm a Disney fan, but Disney is just to me,
is getting a little greedy. That is the way I

(11:42):
see it. But I'm gonna call it a spat. Disney
spat with Google's YouTube TV over a new content distribution
contract is costing Disney four point three million dollars a
day in lost revenue. And that's from Organ Stanley, that's
what they're estimating. That's thirty million dollars a week. As

(12:04):
this blackout of channels including ABC and ESPN, it's now
and it's littless. Fifteenth day, sixteenth day right run Halloween.
I would like to think there's a resolution coming to
the end. I mean the fact that the US government
has ended their lockdown or their employees they brought about

(12:27):
before this. It's stupid. The dispute is also costing Google.
There's about twenty four percent of all of their subscribers
have canceled or they plan to cancel. They've got ten million.
That's a lot, But there's more than twenty Disney owned

(12:48):
channels that went dark on YouTube TV after their current
contract expired back on October thirtieth. Google accuses Disney of
pulling its channels from YouTube TV as a negotiating tactic.
Says its terms would rise prices for YouTube TV customers,
which it would. Disney says Google is refusing to pay

(13:09):
fair rates for its content, which is crap. Well anyway,
bottom line, who wants money? Google has been giving twenty
dollars credits to a subscribers during the blackout. Would you
not know when it ends? Now? How do you get
the money? Who wants twenty dollars? Who's got YouTube TV? Listen?
This is not an endorsement. I would love to endorse

(13:30):
YouTube TV. I've never had YouTube TV. I actually use
expensive Comcast, which is still not my favorite, but that's
what I have. But since you haven't been able to
watch anything from YouTube TV, they are actually crediting, for
lack of a better word, twenty dollars. So here's how
you get it. If you want to claim the twenty

(13:51):
dollars credit, you should have received an email from YouTube
TV this week. After you see the email, this is
what you do to YouTube dot com on your web browser.
On the upper right, there's your little pretty profile picture.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
You're so cute.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
You click it, you hit settings. Okay. Then at the
bottom of the menu you can on the left it
says updates, and believe it or not, there's a whole
explanation about the Disney Channel outages, and you can you
can click a blue button that says claim credit. That
is right, and you can receive a twenty dollars credit. Now, listen,

(14:30):
how much is YouTube TV? It's like eighty I don't
have it, eighty three eighty five bucks a month? What's
twenty bucks? Listen? Twenty bucks is twenty bucks whatever. But
the point is, if somebody offers you money, cake the
freaking mona, I personally would rather have ESPN because I

(14:50):
live on ESPESPN is my lifeline, it's my blood. For
some reason, this happened on Comcast Exfinity. I probably would switch.
I would probably do some I would probably steal my
neighbors direct TV, saying I don't know what it is,
but that's what's going on. It sucks for everybody involved,
But welcome to the world of technology, and this is
what we do. And I know we could talk about

(15:11):
it all the time. Once you start paying sixty seventy
dollars just a month for internet service, then you're paying
another eighty five dollars if you want for YouTube TV,
then you have your Hulu, Then you have your Disney Plus,
then you have your Netflix, your Prime, your HBO Max,
everything weird now back up to the price of cable.

(15:31):
But it's content. And the only thing, my dear listeners,
is you should be thankful for You are listening to
content right now, with this wonderful information I have given you.
And you know how much you're paying for this content.
On iHeartRadio, whatever you say, you're paying absolutely freaking nothing. Radio.
Oh radio is dead. Radio ain't dead? People? Radio is
k I N G.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
King.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
And I am the high tech text and the ruler
of these airways at this specific time. Phone number here.
If you want to talk about that. I've got insight.
It's because I followed the guy that was my major.
I was radio, televisione film at the University of Texas.
I know how this stuff works. I'm more than happy
to give you more insight. Phone number here. Three four
six two nine eight three nine two six. I'm an

(16:15):
Android guy. That was a set. That was a hard segue.
I'm an Android guy, all right, So I don't have
an Apple thumb. Sometimes Apple does things that it's like,
maybe I'm a little jelly. Not bad. They actually did
something I am a little jealous of. Apple just launched
a digital ID and they say it's going to be
accepted by the TSA. How cool is that? Now that

(16:38):
the TSA is allegedly back in full swing, so you're
going to be able to create and store an ID
in your Apple wallet using your passport. They're going to
roll this out at first at TSA checkpoints for domestic
travel and over two hundred and fifty airports across the US. Now,
you could present your digital ID allegedly in place of

(16:59):
your ID on your driver's license at TSA checkpoints using
your iPhone or eaving your Apple Watch. Now, Apple notes
that it is not a replacement for your physical passport.
You can't use it for international travel. You can't use
it across the border. All right. Already, Apple allows you

(17:20):
to store your driver's license in Apple Wallet in twelve states,
not Texas, but twelve states. But the new digital ID
option offers an alternative for people whose home state doesn't
support digital driver's license, or maybe you don't already have
a real ID. I dig that. So if you want
to do it, if you want to create a digital ID,
here's what you do, real quickly. You tap the plus

(17:42):
button at the top right corner of your Apple Wallet.
Go to your Apple Wallet app, and there's a little plus,
not a mis, not a divisions, a plus. You select
digital ID. From there, Apple's going to ask you to
scan the photo page of your physical passport, okay, as
well as the chin embedded on the back of it
to ensure its authenticity. I like that. You then have

(18:05):
to take a selfie for verification. You have to complete
some facial and head movements to conferments really you, But
at that point, allegedly you can present your digital ID
by double clicking your iPhone's side button or your home button,
which opens the Apple Wallet. You choose the digital ID.
You hold your phone or Apple Watch near the identity reader.
Now they say it's encrypted, meaning Apple can't see when
you display your ID or the data you're presented. Do

(18:28):
I believe that? Not sure yet, but I like that
this is the twenty first century things. This still surprised
me that we can't do. I cannot believe we cannot
vote online because the apathy of our voting system is horrible,
because nobody wants to wait in ten hour lines or whatever.
It is. Okay, and yes, we could have our car insurance,

(18:51):
we could take pictures. I mean, why don't we have
something like this? We have the technology. People just suck
it up and do it. Good for Apple doing it. Android.
You're on the clock in my book breakdown right now.
When we come back, you want to talk about OOO,
there's a new phone that was just released. I've been
super secretly playing with it. Last Thursday, I was given

(19:14):
the Clarence Clarence because the embargo lifted, I can tell
you about a new phone that you just may want
to think about when you want to upgrade it. The
name is Michael Garfield, nickname Garf. If we're tight, it's
called the High Tech Texts Show. We continue the long

(19:47):
running twenty three years. I mean I in radio. That's
that's about a third of my lifetime. People over a
third of my lifetime. It's called the High Tech Tics
in the show. Michael Garfield from Dallas. Big shout out
to everybody listening in Dallas. My parents are in Dallas,
probably not listening. They're probably sleeping right now. Also in Houston.
Why I am based in San Antonio. That's our terrestrial

(20:08):
stations partners. Thank you Brian Erickson, our program director across
the iHeartRadio AM talk stations for pretty much having no
other programming and put me on. So I do appreciate
that phone number here if you want to get in
it is a holiday season, giving you some ideas of
gift giving and shopping. Quite simply, the number is if
you want to say hi, three four six two nine

(20:29):
eight three nine two six three four six two nine
eight three nine two six. I review phones for a
long time. Phones have been around for a while, and
believe it or not, there is more than one phone
called the iPhone and if you're a long time listener

(20:50):
of mine, you know I'm not an iPhone guy. You
know I'm an Android guy, not a Samsung per se,
but just an Android from Google. Three quarters of the
world old uses the Android operating system, one quarter uses
the iPhone. So I have to talk to my masses,
and that's as simple as that. I am a Google fan,
and Apple really that has never sent me a test model,

(21:10):
so scrowm neither here nor there. Android phones come out
all the time, be it Samsung or you know, just
OnePlus or motor Roller or Google Pixel and Honor, and
they just keep rolling out and they're good, and their
cameras are good, and their software is good because I'm
used to the Google operating system. I talk about this

(21:32):
because for the past about three weeks, I have been
playing with a brand new phone that I it's I
couldn't tell you because when products released, they generally send
them to people who cover the industry obviously one of
the industries that covers technology, and so I get a
lot of stuff coming ups and Xbox and I have

(21:54):
to sign a lot of agreements that if I'm using
and testing this, I cannot talk about it specifically because
the day it's launch and the embargo is lifted, we
have to be ready to go. And people are like,
wait a minute, how'd you do that, garf? It just
went on sale today, How could you give it a
full review? Well, I'm giving you the inside baseball over here.
It's just a lot of times that I'm playing with things,

(22:16):
but I've signed score in secrecy that I can't talk
about it until we've given the green light. Well, the
green light two days ago lifted four the one plus fifteen.
If you're not familiar, One plus It is a Chinese
based company. They have long made phones and long made
great smart watches, and if I that's my daily smart watch,

(22:37):
I think one plus the one plus three watch the
one phenomenal. It's got a big dial, it's got everything
that's good. And I have been playing with one plus
phones probably for three or four years. They've got a
really nice foldable phone. I remember going to a New
York press conference. Spencer Blank, who is the kind of

(22:57):
the PR communication head, just does a really nice job
of keeping me updated with what is up, and so
they sent me this phone, but I was I couldn't
say anything for like a week. Then the next week,
I was allowed to post photos using the camera, but
not post which camera I was using. Then a week

(23:20):
later I was allowed to post photos saying these photos
are taken on the one plus fifteen. I am now
allowed to do any dang thing I want. I can
take pictures of the phone and everything. So if you
want to go to my Instagram, you can see that
at high tech text and hi g h T E
c h T E x A M. This is, by
all accounts, an incredibly thin phone. It is not foldable,

(23:42):
it is not flippable. It is just a typical, as
I call it, chocolate bar bar of soap phone. But
it's incredibly thin. The thing, one of the few things
that stick out to me is it's incredibly powerful battery.
It is amazing how thin one plus has managed to
keep the one plus fifteen while adding a massive seventy

(24:06):
three hundred milli amp battery. I apologize I don't like
using geeky terms, but when a lot of batteries are
maybe in the thirty six hundred milli amp four thousand,
maybe five thousand mili amp, that's pretty impressive. This is
seventy three hundred milliamp. It's juster point three one inches thick,

(24:27):
which means it's going to last a long time on
a single charge. Yes, that's impressive. It is lightweight. It
comes in several different color ways, as we call it.
They sent me one called Sandstorm, totally different than I've
ever seen. Normally. I get phones that are silver, some

(24:50):
of them are black. Doesn't matter because when you put
a case on them, which I recommend, I don't care
if they're a hot pink, but put a black case
on it, you never know it's hot pink. This's a Sandstorm.
I don't have a case on it yet. And it
looks neat, kind of military type of stuff, kind of
a matted finish, not that shiny. I like it. Some
of the things I like. Screen six point seven h screen,

(25:17):
very good resolution screen, maybe a little smaller, maybe a
little less dense than its previous version, which was the
one plus thirteen. Oh by the way, if you're asking
why did one plus go from the one plus thirteen
phone to the one plus fifteen phone, did they just
totally skip the fourteen? They did. It's a Chinese based company.

(25:37):
Chinese do not like the number four anywhere. Apparently it's
bad luck. So they said screw it, We're just going
to the fifteen. There's your answer. This has a faster
refresh rate, so if you're a gamer, you're gonna love it.
One hundred and sixty five hertz refresh rate. That's up
from one hundred and twenty hertz on an earlier model.

(26:00):
Let me explain what that means. If you're watching a
television or you're watching a football game and there are
some wide receiver is running down the field and he's
just chugging along, you don't want to see any latency.
You don't want to see a little ghosting effect. You
don't you want to see a clear shot of a
of a football player running. That means it's a high

(26:20):
refresh rate. The screen refreshes at a tick tick tick
tick tick. Okay, So that's why when you get a TV,
you want to scream with at least one hundred and twenty,
if not two hundred and forty hertz. So on this
phone it's one hundred and sixty five. It's phenomenal, really good.
So I like that too. Cameras one plus for the

(26:41):
past several years they had a partnership with Hasselblood Hasseleblode.
If you are a camera. NERD is a long standing
high end brand name and a great camera with its
standalone cameras. So one plus had Hassleblod lenses for the
past few years. But guess what, breaking news. The partnership

(27:02):
ended a few months ago. So now they have a
new company. Okay, it's called well it's not a new company,
but it's a new type of imaging engines called detail
Max detail Max. But it has a main camera, three
fifty megapixel sensors, very high end. Okay, two of them

(27:26):
a little slower than you know what we used to
find on the one plus thirteen. I don't want to
get into the apertures to confuse it. But the point
is I went to Canada, what two and a half
three weeks ago, if you followed me, I started taking
pictures in the white snow in the mountains. This picked
up the highlights, the low lights and everything did a
great job. I mean I didn't even have to what

(27:47):
I call sex it up. I didn't have to put
it through a process or anything. It was phenomenal. The nighttime,
the low light features. I had zero problems whatsoever. Very
adjustable camera, which is good and as we all know,
Android phones for the most part, they're generally over the
past history they have been much better than the iPhone once.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
This is the first phone in North America to ship
with the snap Dragon eight Elite GIN five chip. This
is the it's the one phone fifteen. It's a powerhouse. Okay,
I can give you marks of how fast it is.
You don't care, just trust me. In real world used

(28:30):
I had a number of apps open, no drag, no lag,
no latency anything like that. Software. Uh, there's is something
called oxygen Os. They've been integrating more AI features there there.
I think on Samsung they're a little bit more. They

(28:50):
they have I think woven in Samsung has woven in
AI maybe a little bit better than this. I don't
use AI too much, but it's there, and it really
was a pleasant surprise of using this. There wasn't a
lot of bloat wear. There wasn't a lot of other
apps that came with it too. But this in terms
of the release, in pricing, okay, there was apparently there

(29:13):
was a little a hiccup. It was supposed to be
released in the United States this past Thursday. It may
take a few days longer in terms of clearance US customs.
I'm not sure about the whole thing, but it's coming soon.
But seven hundred and fifty dollars was the old one.
This is nine hundred. The ope the one plus fifteen

(29:34):
is going to start at nine hundred. There's also one
thousand dollars model too. This is kind of what we
get in terms of pricing range. But let me put
it this way. I've long been a one plus fan.
This is nice. Do you want to flip from your
current Android to one plus? I'll tell you what, how

(29:54):
old your other Android? People think there are two phones
in the world in terms of brands, Apple and Samsung.
Why because both of them do one hell of amount
of advertising. There's many more out there. I think Google
Pixel is also a pretty decent phone too, But this
one one plus fifteen. Interestingly enough, it's not as simple
as going down to your carrier, your verizons, your t

(30:16):
mobiles and whatever like that. You are going to have
to go to OnePlus dot com or just Google one plus.
It's O N E P L US one plus built
all at fifteen. You can order it directly from their website,
and I believe there's a you potentially can get it
a best buy, But if you see me around over
the next few weeks, I'm going to continue to play
with it. I'm more than applely show you how it works.

(30:37):
And to me, there's my review. High Tech Texan. He's
definitely high and giving a few pluses to the one
plus fifteen Michaels Today Michael Garfield, The High Tech Textan Show.
When we come back, who has seen a driverless car
up and down the highways and byways of Texas well,
Houston and Dallas. Break out, Buckle up, You're probably see

(30:59):
a lot more. Michael Garfield, the long running High Tech
Textan Show heard all across the state of Texas, Dallas, Houston,

(31:21):
San Antonio's restfully on those phenomenal iHeart radio stations. If not,
download the iHeartRadio app and you can hear me. I
talk so much more about technology. I talk about any
damn thing I want to. Because I am your consumer
lifestyle guy. This is the busiest two to three months
of my year. Because we're in the middle of holiday
shopping season. Might I recommend a brand new home? Anybody

(31:43):
want to build a second home, maybe a third home?
Because I know my listeners, I know your demographics over there,
spent last weekend at Big Easy Ranch in Columbus, Texas,
halfway pretty much between Houston and Austin. Iten Highway seventy one.
I'm they were holding and first of all, it's let

(32:03):
me give you a quick play by play, two thousand
acres the number one rated public I'm sorry, private golf
course in the state of Texas. It's a private club,
membership club. They've got a par three course which I
absolutely adore, love it. I can our fifteen, dude, I'm done.
I love that thing. They've got bird hunting, and they've
got you know, clay pigeons, and then they've got big

(32:25):
game hunting. Then they've got lake after lake after lake
where at some point you're soon you're gonna be able
to do some fly fishing and you're gonna catch the fish.
They've got cabins that you can stay at. Should you
be a member? Anyway, I was out there because I'm
a memba. That's the right people. Hot Tech texts it's
a member of Big Easy Ranch. But anyway, every time
I go out there, I find more fun things to do.

(32:47):
They've got seven six or seven not sure executive chef.
How many chefs do you need well, big easy ranches
need six or seven because they don't puts around people.
They have got reddible, high end food. I mean I
was at somebody's in the house and they were making paiea.
I mean, they they just they do so many greats.

(33:07):
So anyway, I go to the lodge, I have a cocktail,
shoot some pool. I mean, it's it's phenomenal. Anyway, let's
talk about moving. So anyway, Billy Brown, the founder, this
was in his mind, this is what he created years
ago and it has just continued to just get garner
so many accolades and awards. H He has opened up

(33:28):
kind of phase two of their of their lots, and
it's you really don't people don't live there as their
primary residence. It's kind of a weekend type of thing.
And you know, you can you know, you could purchase
a house and you can put it in the pool.
Then you can kind of like you know, rent it
out to other you know, members or guests or whatever.
But phase two they had me up there and I
was am seeing it because that's kind of what I do.

(33:50):
So we were introducing people where you can kind of
pick your own lot, and the weather was great, we're
overlooking you know, part three, and there's trees everywhere and
just close your eyes almost and you can imagine building
your own house. They're about one acre lots and you know,

(34:10):
you could. You know, they have builders and designers that
they can come out there and you can build it
with just bay windows and just you know, two stories.
And it's a great place to you know, to visit
and bring your kids, your grandkids, your great grandkids. That
you can use this so so far, so many more
things if you're interested in going out there, and maybe
number one becoming a member, but more importantly if you're

(34:31):
out of Houston, A lot of Eustonians and I know
I have a lot of people who listen in Austin,
San Antonio too. Don't sleep on the fact that don't
you want to get out of the city. Don't you
want to go to the country. Go check out it
is big easy ranch dot com. In terms of membership.
If you want to get out there, please contact Nicole Scarborough.
Swear all you need to do, shake your hand, talk

(34:55):
to here for five minutes. She gives you a tour.
You're going to join, I mean not only she is
such a wonderful person. She knows what she's doing, but
the property itself can sell you too. It's just a
plus that she's actually driving you around and showing what's
going around. Uh, We've got everybody from Ricky who is
the general manager, Billy Brand's out there. I've met all
the the chefs. It's just it's it's really becoming family

(35:16):
to me. But it's called Big Easy Range, Big Easy
Range dot com. Follow him on social media and you're
gonna see all the good stuff. All right, cool, that's Robbie.
It's nice because when I go up to Austin for
the games, for the Horns games, you know, instead of
a you know, going driving like it's all of two
hours and fifteen minutes from my house, but I'm gonna
stim'na stop off, you know, have a little snack, maybe
play a par three, watch the Horns win, come back,

(35:37):
and then I can stay the night if I want to.
So let somebody build a house so I can stay there.
Let's let's make it as simple as that phone number
here on the high Tech textan show seven to one
three no actually no sorry, three four six two nine
eight three nine two six. Michael Garfield is the name
one day. I am not gonna drive to these your

(36:00):
ranch I'm not going to drive to Austin. I'm gonna
be sitting in a Waimo where I can sit in
the back of a car and have absolutely nobody in
the driver's seat steering where I'm going. Has anybody seen
or even been in Waimo Waymo, it's Google's self driving taxi.
If you will, I'm not gonna go on an uber,

(36:21):
but it's it's a way to get around if you've
been in Austin. They've been in Austin for quite a while. Actually, no,
they launched in Austin about last year. And if the
first time you've seen a self driving vehicle, it's freaky
d key. They're beautiful white vehicles. They've got cameras, they've
got radars, they've got light ar that see everything, and
they are relatively safe in some cases. I can say

(36:43):
they are safer than a human driving because let me
help you out. I've been in rex in my life
and maybe you have two. But the artificial intelligence, the cameras,
the computers, the GPS, they're gonna get you from point
A to point B generally Waimo's listen, They've been in
San Francisco, La, Phoenix, Austin. Not long ago. They came

(37:05):
to Houston in Dallas. That's why I'm talking about this,
because my voice is heard all over the state of Texas.
But for the most part, robotaxis that's what it's called,
have typically avoided highways, opting instead for if you're going
on a long route, they stick to local roads when
they're taking passengers. Okay, this hasn't gone unnoticed because some

(37:27):
people back there are like, why am I not on
the freeway? Why is this taking longer? Well, they specifically
avoided writing on freeways because they wanted to test it.
Breaking news. After years of testing, including on public highways
with employees as well as on enclosed courses and in
virtual simulation, Weimo is ready to start offering highway trips

(37:49):
to a lot of people freeway driving. Weaimo is starting
highway trips Phoenix, La, San Francisco Bay Area. No word
yet if it's on Texas, but they're gonna get you there.
Faster challenges of highway driving, there's a lot of them,
higher traffic speeds. That means these autonomous vehicles are gonna

(38:11):
have less time to make decisions. Any mistake can carry
a higher degree of severity. There's a lot of things
that are happening. Freeways are challenging a lot of people
I know, including my aunt, they will not even drive
on freeways. They're just scared about the whole thing. But
I will say this, and I'm gonna we're getting ready

(38:31):
to to finish the first hour three four six, two
nine eight three nine. If you've been in a way
MO call me. I want to hear your thoughts. Yes,
there's some trepidation the first time you get in. Yes,
you're gonna be a little bit nervous. It's a paradigm shift.
It's a paradigm shift. The first time that you picked
up a cell phone, it's a paradigm shift. First time
you touched computer, it's paradigm shift. The first time you

(38:54):
changed babies diapers. We go through paradigm shifts all the time.
This is a big one. This is a technologically one
where your life. Yes, can be in the hands or
not in any hands of a driverless vehicle. But I've
been in one, and as of right now, I feel safe.
We welcome to the world. Not of the future, is

(39:15):
it right now? That is much of many of the
things better talk about. All right, next hour? What we
got T Mobile? You don't need to have T Mobile
to get a service that they just offer you for
most every compatible phone.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
I like that.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
Also Amazon having a Black Friday sale. I'm gonna tell
you some sales that are already going on. And Also
my boy Matthew mcconaughead one of the coolest and sexiest
voices you've ever heard. He just signed off to let
his voice be used by an AI machine.

Speaker 3 (39:50):
What get a rope?

Speaker 4 (39:53):
My name's Michael Garthelf. The high Tech text.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Is Michael garfil Michael Garfield, Michael Garfields joining in the
high Tech Texan. Michael Garfield is.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Here with a high Tech Texans.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
To make life easier, new technology, and Michael Garfield has
something you might want.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
Michael Garfield is your high Tech Texans. Three decades helping
you make magic with your gadgets. Heard worldwide on the
iHeartRadio add Now you're high tech Texan. Michael Garfield.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
Half waight a happy hour. We're halfway through the Michael
Garfield High Tech Textans Show. Wherever you are listening, certainly
TRUSTe around this great state of Texas. I do think
you for tuning in iHeartRadio appers, thanks for downloading it.
That didn't happen twenty three years ago and I started
a radio shizzauh. Now you could just take the dulcin

(41:09):
tones and sounds of my voice any where you go. Also,
as I look through the glass and there is calum
and there are will they're pushing buttons. They're doing Guys,
you're doing something. At least I'm glad you're awake. They
will take the two hours of this radio show when
I'm done, and they're gonna put it on make it
into a podcast. Another thing that was not around twenty

(41:29):
plus years ago when I started the terrestrial radio thing.
We can play it to your heart's content by downloading
the podcast. You can subscribe to that iHeartRadio. It's an
absolutely free app where I can't guarantee, you know, through
the life of the app, or through the life of
this iHeart company, that they won't get into a dispute

(41:53):
a la Disney YouTube TV. I don't think so. So
right now it is free. We are not cutting anybody out.
We are not giving anybody twenty dollars rebates like YouTube
TV is right now. But wherever you are listening let's
have some fun for one more hour. If you did
miss our number one, we did talk about this that dispute.

(42:14):
That's one of the many things I do cover, you know,
the business of number one. Yes, technology, Yes, consumer lifetiles
style products, but also streaming. I mean this, I was
the guy twenty years ago when digital TV started coming out.
I was telling you do you get a plasma? Do
you get the LED?

Speaker 3 (42:33):
You know?

Speaker 4 (42:33):
Now there's you know now, I mean what I've been recommending,
believe in are projections, TVs, projectors. They are getting so crisp,
so sharp, They're relatively inexpensive. Right now. You can take
them outside, you can put them close to your wall
to make it a you know, a twenty thirty forty
inch TV. You could pull it back to make it
a one hundred and twenty inch TV. So, yes, I

(42:55):
do cover the way TV is delivered and watched, but
also the business of tell Vision in streaming. And so
there is that still issue that's yet to be resolved
between Disney's carriage fees to YouTube TV to ten million
YouTube TV subscribers across the country. But the funny thing
is the government figured itself out and ended the shutdown

(43:19):
even before Disney and YouTube TV. So if you want
to hear that, that's where you go onto the podcast
and actually listen to it. I will give you the
phone number one more time. Because it is the holiday
shopping season. A lot of people are out there looking.
They're buying online. We've got an Amazon Black Friday sale.
That's right well, Amazon, I believe yeah. Prime Video. I

(43:39):
think they're gonna have a Friday afternoon football game too,
And so it's shopping season is really right here? Three
four six two nine eight three nine two six, That
is the phone number. If we don't pick up, that
means so many people are calling in right now. So
many people are calling in and asking me questions about
everything from laptops. By the way, you're looking for a laptop,

(44:01):
believe it. You know if your laptop if you're mobile,
I mean, yeah, tablets are fine. Why not get a
kind of a laptop and a tablet conbined I call
them convertible. One of the ones that I've been recommending
lately a sus as US one of the world's leading
mobile computing companies. They have one called the VVO Book.

(44:22):
The VVO Book, it's a fourteen inch beautiful, uh you know,
piece of equipment that Yes it's got a keyboard, Yes
it's got a gorgeous screen, but then it actually has
a three hundred and sixty degree rotation module clip that
turns it into a tablet if you want it. It
has Microsoft Windows eleven, which don't sleep on it. It's

(44:46):
actually that's very important because Windows ten. As of about
a month ago, it was it's kind of been put
to rest. In terms of the customer service. It is
just just go to you can go to the Asus
site as US just google it. But it's a Vivo
book vvolasviic No, it's vi iv O book ass Vvo book.

(45:09):
If you happen to see me out when I'm traveling,
that is my current laptop slash tablet convertible of choice.
I like when I carry it. When I go on
an airplane, I carry you. Obviously, I have a phone,
I have a battery, but I have one device when
I I you know, I go, I'm a Southwest Airlines guy.
Most often bring your own device and I watch my

(45:29):
movies or I download something. But you can also stream
free you know, TV shows and TV networks like ESPN.
You know why because they don't use YouTube TV in
the air. What do I Generally I bring a tablet,
but I've been bringing my Asus Vivo Book fourteen inch.
It's nice because it props itself up because you can
you can, you know, kind of twist it and it
stands up like a tent. I don't have to see

(45:50):
the keyboard, and now I can watch everything. I can,
you know, put my Bluetooth headphones on. It's it's it's
a great powerful device, certainly for college do U it's
business folks, and it just it works really well, just
even for entertainment, playing games and everything. Great processors and everything.
The Asus Vivo Book, So getting in that's one of
my other recommendations going into the holiday shopping season. I

(46:14):
saw this little tidbit too, which I thought was funny.
You know, I talk about food, of course, and drinks,
and you know, I'm a real person breaking news. I
actually have to eat and drink. Earlier this week, I
was celebrating national every day there's a national something. Right
Earlier this week it was National Chicken Sandwich Day. By

(46:36):
the way, every time you hear something there's a national
blank day, everybody goes. I do know. There was a
National blank deck. I did not know there was a
National Chicken Sandwich Day, followed two days later by National
Chicken ut Nugget Day. This is interesting that these fall
in November because November is National Herky Month, right, But anyway,

(46:59):
I was acting on chicken sandwiches and chicken nuggets all
this week. A toil compo specifically, they were very nice.
Four hundred locations around the world, several in the Uston area.
I think the US base is in the Dallas area too.
From Guatemala for fifty plus years. Just a really good recipe,
really good. So noway they were kind enough to actually

(47:21):
make me celebrate it, and so they loaded us up
with some chicken sandwiches, spicy chicken sandwiches. They got the
chicken nuggets, rice and beans. Dude, the Yucca fries, y Uca,
don't sleep on the yucker fries. It was really nice.
So congratulations, should you? Should you have celebrated National Chicken
Sandwich Day and National Chicken Nugget Day. I've had my
fill of chicken this coming week while I wait for

(47:43):
Turkey in a few more weeks. Byway, that's one of
the foods I cover. I saw this. I don't eat well, Okay,
I love We're in Texas. We love our tortilla chips.
There's no doubt me best tortilla chips. Hobbo Bobs say fast. Yeah,
I'm gonna call it a fast foodish restaurant fast casual

(48:04):
four locations in Houston, based out of Austin. The best
chips that I can that I've tried double They're like
double thickness. I love that extra crunch. You know, you
dip them in kso or saw so you know, they
don't whimpy out so do I. That's that's the point
over there, when it comes to store bought chips, Dorito's
and Cheetos, That's where I'm going with this story. And
I'm sorry it took me ninety seconds to get here.

(48:27):
I mean, who didn't grow up with Dorito's and Cheetos.
Pepsi Co which owns those brands, they you know, done
a nice job. They've got you know, the cool ranch flavor,
and they've got you know and but part of the
I guess, part of the experience of eating Dorita's and
Cheetos it's that orange or the colored flavored crap that

(48:47):
you get on your fingers after you eat it right well,
Dorito's and Cheetos, and whether it's self serving, whether it's
a publicity stunt, and I have to lean towards a
publicity stunt. It has an idiot like me giving this
story about two minutes right now, they have come out
with a new version that does not have artificial colors
or flavors. They are called Dorito's and Cheetos simply NKD.

(49:11):
And I don't know if NKD stands for I'm sure
it stands for naked. I don't know if you pronounce
it Cheeto's simply naked or naked or NKD. Anyway, it's
coming out December first. There's no die in it, so
they're die free. So it means they're going to be colorless,

(49:33):
well maybe not colorless. Instead of having the bright orange
nacho cheese Doritos or the certainly the Cheetos with that
orange stuff on there, they're going to be a lighter color.
It's going to look more like a tortilla chip. Oh,
the breakthrough that we have did. Did Clark W. Griswold
come up with this? You know? Because he was a

(49:54):
genius when it comes to all that, like synthetic you know,
food processing type of stuff. The funny thing is states.
I mean, let's let's put this way. There's a lot
of other food companies that have made changes like this
because apparently there was pressure from the FEDS and US
Health Secretary RFK Junior. They're urging companies to eliminate synthetic

(50:17):
food dies by next year, and states are getting into it.
Our great state of Texas recently passed I did not
know this a law requiring warning labels for foods that
contain artificial ingredients. Did you know that? I did not know?
So do I. I cannot waste and wait to actually
taste this orceive these things. It's kind of like going
back to remember when pepsi came out years and years ago.

(50:40):
They came out with this breakthrough called crystal pepsi. Pepsi obviously,
you know, just like any you know, drink with caffeine
and for the most part, it's dark colored. Coca cola
is a dark color. Pepsi is a dark colored. So
they came out with a new type of beverage that
was clear. Oh I'm sorry, has anybody never heard of

(51:00):
sprite and seven up before marketing people it's marketing, by
no way. I will be sure to try some of
this because I have to try it before you do too. Listen,
I went a lot over this break. Don't go back anywhere.
When we come back, I'm going to talk to you
about free emergency texting. If you are out somewhere and
you have a phone and you can't get sales service,
but you need nine one one, you're gonna like this

(51:21):
news coming up on a high tech taxing show. This

(51:47):
portion of the High Tech textan show brought to you
by US Coins and Jewelry. Listen, I've been yapping about
this company and the family that owns it for many years.
I go by there in the Houston location. They have one.
They have one Houston location that they've had for two generations.
Kenny and Matthew Duncan and their entire staff. Obviously, it's coins.

(52:07):
If you're a coin collector, you want to buy coins,
you want to sell your coins, that's the way to
do it. Jewelry without a doubt too. I was in
there about a week and a half ago. I every
three to four months I go in and I have
a watch, and I'm not throwing out. I am gonna
throw out a name, so it's a Rolex, but they
buy and sell. Among many of the things, they have
just an unbelievable stock of Rolex watches. And that's like

(52:30):
the one luxury item that I own. And I'm seriously,
I don't really, I mean, listen, I don't own a
car because I test drive cars every single week. But
it's nice to have a beautiful Rolex watch. I will
go in and I will sell it to them, and
I will immediately buy another one. And I've got this
gorgeous titanium one. It's the lightest Rolex I've ever seen.
That's just one of the many things that they have
at us Coins and Jewelry. It is on Katie Freeway,

(52:52):
just outside of Loop six' ten In. Houston you don't
need to live In houston to deal with. Them you
can go to the website Us cojewelry dot. Com they've
got great collections Of texas. Memorabilias it's that time of,
YEAR i, guess is What i'm getting. At you, KNOW
i am the guy who covers consumer, lifestyle who gives
you the recommendations of really gives you ideas of what to,

(53:13):
buy what to stay away, From it's great when you
deal with a family owned company been around since the nineteen,
eighties now in its second, generation that you can absolutely.
TRUST i, mean you've got you want to sell your
goal back and by the, way as anybody seen the
price of, Gold, yeah you want to trust. Somebody go.
In you can watch them weigh and measure and see

(53:34):
and just sit, down ask For will or just one
of the many other folks who work. THERE i, say
they've got one. Location they are building and getting ready
to open their second, showroom which is going to be
over the top, spectacular right next to where their current location.
Is With kenny And Matthew duncan obviously continue to for
atutrition from their, dad who's the tradition of their dad

(53:57):
is just. Phenomenal so, anyway please trust these. Guys and
when you, go you tell Them Michael Garfield garfield sent,
you because there's Another Michael, pimpson but that don't. Matter,
Garf i'm the original Bical Garf. Daddy that's how we.
Roll and they're gonna they absolutely will take care of.
You love going in this time of, year people are.
Shopping it's just it's a very festive time of year

(54:18):
and whether you want anything to, collect you want to
start a coin. Collection kenny is one of the greatest
numismatists in this country and just when it comes to,
coins and so take it from, me it is Us
coinsjewelry Dot. Com as we continue this wonderful program called
The High Tech text And. SHOW i saw this this
is neat BECAUSE i was In canada about two weeks
ago AND i was hiking up a. Mountain i've been

(54:40):
Daf canada with three of my best friends and we're
hiking up them mount and there were some places in the,
country some places in the world that you just don't
get cell, service AND i don't. There we're hiking Up
Lake louise in baff, which by the, way one of
the most beautiful Sites i've ever seen on this Planet.
Earth it was just gorgeous when you're looking down in
the blue was water you've ever. Seen and at some

(55:01):
POINT i THINK i lost cell. Service and it doesn't
matter which CARRIER i. Have you just lose cell. Service
sometimes what IF i somebody, fell hurt, ourselves broke a
leg a, bit don't. Laugh we had a guide with
bear spray bears out. There so if you find yourself
in trouble without cell, service what do you? Do? Well

(55:22):
you actually have several ways to connect with emergency services,
nowadays because companies Like, Apple, GOOGLE T mobile are offering
satellite service that works with almost any, phone AND i
saw this. Earlier this, WEEK T mobile announce that the
emergency texting feature of its the satellite, service is free

(55:47):
even if you're not one of its. Customers all, RIGHT
i like. THAT i have yet to try tea satellite
BECAUSE i do not HAVE T mobile, service And i'm
not that tight with THE pr. People if they're monitoring.
This nice to meet you help out the high tech
textan SO i could try this. Thing but apparently very

(56:10):
easy to connect compatible with phones that don't include dedicated
satellite hardware BECAUSE T satellite Uses, starlink and we Know
Starlink Texas space Elon Musk. Starlink it's a low orbiting
network of satellites that communicates directly with recent smartphone models
and this NEW T mobile it's called text to nine

(56:30):
one one. Service it's now live for customers with any,
carrier doesn't matter if you have an iPhone or An android.
Phone it was last SUMMER T mobile launched THIS T satellite,
service and it began as a, way you, know the
text others receive emergency assistant when outside cellular or Even
Wi fi, coverage and then expanded it to support data within,

(56:54):
apps so video calls and Whatsever so it's i one
of the things THAT i do That i've covered, technology
technology devices and services like. This it makes the world
a smaller, place AND i think it's. GOOD i think it's.
Smart so if you have an iPhone fourteen or a later,

(57:14):
model A pixel nine or, ten and it connects to
satellite services From apple Or google, emergencies This Tea mobile
text to nine point one, service it's a good backup
option for people who are out of cell. Range i'd
like to try. It i'm just going through. Report some
other ilk in my profession who have kind of texted

(57:37):
me via cell asked me IF i used, it And i'm, like,
no so, Yo Tea mobile talk to me high tech
texting dot. Com i'd actually like to try. This by the,
way if anybody has tried, that anybody tried starlink to you,
Know starlink now offers, fast high speed internet service at
your home or at your, business and more importantly that

(58:01):
if you go back about a month, ago and you
go to my website high Tech textan Dot, com or
you go to My. INSTAGRAM i was one of the.
FIRST i was actually the. First United airlines invited me
on the very first flight that was equipped on their,
aircraft on their mainline aircraft with, starlink and so for
about an hour and a half they brought some journalists

(58:22):
up and we got to test out how fast starlink
works in. Flight So UNITED i know this because they
got a big hub In houston they have they're rolling
it out plane by plane by. Plane hopefully by next
year most all their planes are going to have. It
but if you get on, there this starlink service is
unbelievable Because Wi fi in the air AND i KNOW
i kind of switched topics a, little but we're still on.

(58:43):
Starlink starlink is pretty. Cool so because the their satellites
are low orbiting satellites generally are have been in geosynchronous
orbit around The, earth which is about twenty six thousand miles.
Up so the eight and cy was long because the
signal had to go all the way up twenty six

(59:04):
thousand miles and all the way back down twenty six
thousand miles now because these, orbits the satellites are. Low
the latency is like, pimp it goes up and. Down
that's one of the reasons why it's so. Fast. Better,
yeah The United starlink, service if you do find, it
it is. Free you don't need to pay eight dollars
nine dollars per flight for the Current Wi fi which

(59:25):
sometimes can be, spotty certainly On southwest Airlines, joe And
i'm not ragging On, southwest but they do need to up.
It so good For. United but that's What starlink. Does
you know Why because it's A texas based company and
everything smart comes out Of. Texas just like your boy
over here at The High Tech. TEXAS i am based At,
texas sixth Generation. Texas that's how we do. It hooke them, horns.

(59:49):
People we're gonna take a break bottom of the hour
coming up speaking With. Texas who is the most who
currently living is the most Iconic hexan that you can think?
Of present company, excluded and you can count me. Out
who is the most Iconic? Texan whether it's an, athlete

(01:00:10):
whether it's a, celebrity a movie, star A tv, star a.
POLITICIAN i PROBABLY i THINK i have the. Answer it's
certainly in the top three because when you think of
this person and you hear the voice of this, person
you know this person is A. Texan, well there's a

(01:00:30):
technology twist to this that's probably gonna shock. You that
is coming up on The High Tech Textan. Show Michael
garfield probably not one of the more nationally known Iconic,
texans but here to my longtime listeners for twenty three,
YEARS i am your.

Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
Guide just about thirty more.

Speaker 4 (01:01:09):
Minutes to go before we release you to the rest
of your, weekend however you are spending. It hope you
are having a good football watching. Weekend should you not
have YouTube? Tv that's, Right i'd been covering that for
the past hour and a. Half Michael garfield is the
name you can find me Online High Tech. Texan that's
the name of this. Show H I G H T
e c H T E. X, again IF i ask

(01:01:32):
you who is the most Iconic, nixon if you think
Of texas and a person currently, living because there's been
a lot of other iconic Inner. Texas now, Listen we've
GOT i, mean we got. POLITICIANS i mean you think OF.
Lbj we have got sports. STARS i MEAN i mean to, me,

(01:01:56):
listen you know the people From, Texas Dan Roger, staubach you,
know and you know all the cowboys WHERE i grew
up back in the, Days Tom, LANDRY i, Mean Greg,
popovich you. Know, NOW i mean. THEY i, mean these
are people who have just made their careers and their
name in the state Of. Texas and then There's hollywood,
celebrities so many. ACTORS i, mean right, now we've Got Glenn,
powell WHO i can't turn on the FREAKING tv or you,

(01:02:18):
know open the internet without Seeing Glenn powell doing something
For Texas monthly. COVER i Like Glenn Palin's but IF
i IF i say who is the most Iconic texan
that when you hear a person's, voice it's like that
person is From. Texas, Okay i'm gonna give you like five,
seconds five seconds because there's a story coming along with

(01:02:38):
this thing. Too all, right listen to this, voice and
you tell me if you were thinking of the same
person That i'm thinking of probably the most iconic current Living.
Texan all, right all, right all? Right AM i? Wrong

(01:02:59):
AM i? Wrong matthew, McConaughey if you, disagree tell, me
because Maybe i'm missing somebody three four six two nine
eight three nine two six his. VOICE i, mean you
can pick it out of. Anywhere and whether or not
you're watching These reliant commercials ON, tv you know it's his.

(01:03:20):
Voice by the, way a little inside Info. Reliant they
have long Used matthew McConaughey's voice on radio AND tv,
commercials but he never says his. Name and you know
why because and this is true BECAUSE i know THE
nrg marketing people if if you if he used his,
name his his, fee his endorsement fee goes. UP i

(01:03:40):
swear they, said you know, what we'll just use his.
Voice but you know his. Voice he's the. DUDE i,
MEAN i kind of feel sorry for because, LISTEN i do,
endorsements you, know AND i do endorsements for truly COMPANIES
i absolutely believe. In IF i don't believe in a,
Company i'm not. Gonnaendorsement but generally WHEN i, do WHEN
i do, voices IT'S, Hi It's Michael. Garfield For Big Easy,
ranch It's Michael. Garfield you know. WHAT i shop AT

(01:04:01):
Us coins And. JEORY i always throw my name out
there BECAUSE i don't know if people a they confuse
me With Casey casem's. Voice but b they don't know
WHO i. Am you know McConaughey's. VOICE i bring this.
Up it's because he did. This McConaughey is giving her

(01:04:24):
mission for his voice to be cloned with lack of
a better, term with artificial intelligence with AN ai audio.
COMPANY i am not kidding. You he teamed up with
a company called Eleven labs to produce a virtual replication
of his famous. Voice and, oh by the, way he's

(01:04:47):
also investing in this, company which is based In New.
York now he's worked with this company for two or
three years and it brings AND i written the story
In variety magazine because when it comes to the use
OF ai of not only regular, people but certainly famous
people's faces and, voices that's very. Controversial and that was

(01:05:12):
one of the reasons there was a big shutdown In
hollywood what two years ago for The green Actress Gill
and one of the big clauses was what's the use
of artificial intelligence in the? Future are actors going to
be out of work BECAUSE ai can replicate their, voice
can replicate their. Face AND i absolutely understand. IT i,

(01:05:33):
mean it's their OWN. Ip it's their intellectual. Property, listen
McConaughey was born with that. VOICE i, mean he didn't go.
OUT i don't think he was. TRAINED i, mean, Listen,
debbie you, KNOW i know he's from About yuvaldi and
that's what he that's his, gift that, sexy, awesome cool.
Voice is this a good but he is looking FORWARD

(01:05:59):
i Guess ford in the future to maybe after he's
gone to utilizing his voice FOR i don't know his,
family his, estate. Whatever and, again not trying to be,
morbid but this is what. Happens and more and more
actors are doing. This let me tell you who else
is doing. This Michael. Kane Michael, KINE i think is

(01:06:20):
like ninety. Two he is ninety Two british. Actor he
has got an unfreaking believable. Voice he has done so.
Much BUT i, mean WHEN i think Of Michael, kane
he was in some of the Later batman. Movies he
was What ALFRED i, think the. Butler but he was
also in all of The Austin power. Movies, Hey, austin

(01:06:43):
he Was austin's. Father it's just. Great he's licensed his voice.
Too but other celebrities who right now are doing it
and here's a list over. Here Eliza, Minelli John, wayne
And Lawrence Olivia olivier their. Estates they've allowed their voices
to do this. Thing Maya angelou great voice, also but

(01:07:04):
these it's called the iconic voice. Marketplace but let me ask,
you this is. It it's a paradigm. Shift do you
find it freaky? Decky if you're watching something and all
of a sudden current and their voice pops. Up it's
a licensing. Deal if a BRAND i want to match

(01:07:27):
a good, Product i'm gonna give you an. Analogy BUT i
have to think about. THIS i, MEAN i don't want to, say,
hey Is John wayne pimping the New Dorito's naked data.
CHIPS i don't. Know maybe there's a you, know there's
a new firearm. Company you, Know John wayne is known
for shooting guns and movies and everything Is howard PART
i can't do, It John, Wayne, Hello Kimo, Soavia, hello.

(01:07:47):
Partner i'm here to talk about this new route and
shooting six. Shooter top of. Thing it's twenty twenty five right.
Now first of, all there's the current General like my kids,
generation they may have heard Of John, wayne they rarely
know anything About John. Wayne does that make? SENSE i don't,

(01:08:08):
Know but the fact is that's what technology has. Done
AM i? SCARED i really am not scared THAT ai
is going to clone Little Michael, garfield the high Tech
texans voice. WHATEVER i. Think i'm at the stage of
my career right, now which Sadly i'm gonna have to
work till the day i am put into the ground
that it's going to take. Over now it's. Not but,

(01:08:32):
this this is the. Innovation what's? Happening let Me i'll
all throw this out. Here three four, six two nine
eight three nine. Six speaking of, that who, is in your,
opinion who has the most iconic voice that you've ever
heard in your? Life as A i could break it into.
Categories there's one definitive answer for. Me if you're a longtime,
listener you know who it. Is i've already mentioned. It,

(01:08:53):
Actually i'll Just i'll just bury the leader right. Now
the most definitive voice in my lifetime is case Case.
Closed It's Casey. CASEM i grew up and as many
people who are my age grew up back on the,
weekends back in the nineteen late nineteen seventies and back
in the earth in the, eighties we grew up listening
To American top. Forty we grew up listening to The
top forty. COUNTOWN i grew up listening and Idolizing Casey,

(01:09:17):
casem probably the biggest REASON i wanted to get into
radio and certainly the. Media it's a soothing, voice and
that's why his voice was so. Popular there's something about
IT i CAN i could try to, imitate and WHEN
i grew up in high school in, COLLEGE i did imitate.
HIM i still can kind of do, it but my

(01:09:39):
cadence is way too. Loud my cadence is way too
fast for what he. Did but that soothes me when
and by the, way famous. Voice i'm a Big Scooby doo,
fan who is the voice Of Shaggy Casey casem spinks
like a swooope steime for His scooby. Snack that to
me is is a voice the other. REALM i am

(01:10:01):
one of the biggest sports fans you will ever, find
certainly watching. FOOTBALL i grew up with some of the
most iconic. Voices listening to play by, PLAY i Al
michael's VOICE i can pick out of a billion. Voices
Jim nance to some extent is certainly when he does

(01:10:24):
the master's golf versus, FOOTBALL i mean the Great Vince.
Scully if you're A houston, fan if you grew up
listening to The, astros or way back The Atlanta breser before, That, Miloe,
Hamilton milo's. Gone everybody's gonna be gone in some. Place
is it? Okay are you cool with having these voices

(01:10:46):
live on? Forever because technology is. There we got about
fifteen more minut ten to fifty more minutes of the.
Show if you're too shy to call three four six
two nine eight nine two, six give me your voice
and tell me who's the most iconic. Voice how would
you like to TRAIN ai to read your favorite book

(01:11:06):
or introduce you if you're being introduced on, stage or
read your eulogy in the voice of An idol Or
reynolds Or Rock hudson or you know somebody somebody interesting
like that three four six. Six if, not pop me,

(01:11:27):
up find me ON x High tech text and H
I G H T E C H T E X
A n and after that we'll be right. Back but until,
then keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching
for the. STARS i know segment of This Weekend's High

(01:12:08):
Tech text and. Show it is your iconic text my, Well,
garfield this really is my. Voice this is not artificially intelligently,
replicated like we just talked about With matthew. McConaughey i
before we went to the, BREAK i threw out the
question who is the most, WELL i threw out two,
questions who who has the most iconic voice you've ever?

(01:12:31):
Heard and a lot of people are coming. In they're,

Speaker 4 (01:12:54):
Can if you have a favorite, singer you know their. Voice,
tony Here's Tony, Bennett Frank. SINATRA i got. It so
we're talking about iconic. Voices just BECAUSE i talked about
the story How matthew McConaughey And Michael caine and a
few others they have now licensed their voice to an
artificial intelligence company to actually replicate it for whatever purpose
or licensing or. Whatever so that's number. ONE i also

(01:13:14):
threw out this, question who is the most Iconic hexan
if you can think of A? Texan AND i actually
said the most iconic Living texan AND i came up
With matthew McConaughey with his. Voice you guys are coming in,
strong and you're and you're not yelling at, me BUT

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
