Speaker 1 (00:03):
Mourning the loss of a low Country radio host. Unexpected
passing away this week of Mike Edwards, Mike, the guy
from Two Girls and a Guy Here in the low
Country shocked everybody when that made headlines yesterday. It was
pretty shocking. Yeah. I actually worked with Mike for about
five years, and he had quite a radio career, and
he was an incredibly brilliant guy. What he did. I
(00:24):
would call him an old soul, funny guy though a
super serious person, but also funny. And I was thinking
of the time that, you know, we worked in the
same building. I happened to be working on the AM
news station he's over it at the time. It was
ninety five SX, and he was gosh, I think he
started ninety five or sex in the ninety late nineties,
and he was just playing Mike. At one point in
five years, he became my boss for like five minutes.
(00:46):
Can you imagine, you know, you and I working together
for years and years, and all of a sudden you
became my boss. It was I imagine it every day,
Oh dear lord, it was. It was hard for us
like this right now. It was hard for me to
take him seriously, you know, because then he to be
my boss, and I'm like, hey, man, really, you know,
like we've been co workers for five years, like now
you're my boss. Anyway, bless him. He was just a
(01:08):
passionate guy. And what a heartbreak. You know, any loss
is one too many, and especially when one comes near
the holidays, it's shocking and unexpected. Yes, yes, and you know,
apparently he passed away of natural causes. But he was
you know, he was in his early fifties and just
beloved by so many. And I know that he is
going to be missed a lot of people, of course,
(01:28):
reacting to it this morning, and we just want to
offer his family, his friends, his fans, our thoughts and prayers,
and I have to share this. He had a dog
named Roxy. Now, when we worked in the same radio
station group, we had a secretary, you know, the lady
who sits the friend who answers the calls, and we
had a paging system, so when someone came into the lobby,
(01:49):
Miss Maggs was her name, and Miss Maggs worked with
us for years. He was an incredible woman. But Miss
Maggs sometimes you could punk her and have her pay.
Someone who you know, think of like a prank call. Yeah, well,
so somebody pranked Mike and had Miss Magg's page. His
(02:10):
last name many of us known as Mike the Guy
or Mike Edwards. His last name is Chambers and his
dog's name was Roxy. So Miss Mag started. I mean,
we all laughed. You could hear it all throughout the building.
Five to four General pickup, Roxy Chambers for Mike the Guy,
Roxy Chambers. Five to four, General pickup for Mike the Guy. Anyway,
ah ha, you can hear him all throughout the building,
(02:31):
everybody laughing. But more to come on services. I know.
He was originally from West Virginia, been here though for
a long time. So Mike will be missed, and it's
a sad, sad day certainly here today. Rest in peace, Mike,
