(00:00):
Happy Monday friends. Welcome to thethaw Shower. My name is intern John.
Hi intern John. I'm Shelby sawDo I sound a year older,
intuit. I was about to say, you sound so much different. Thank
you, you've even grown. Thankyou. You're welcome. Birthday weekend,
lovely Katis say a couple of things. I know. Um, people get

(00:21):
stressed about my birthday. Yes,and I don't think it's necessarily because of
me. I think it's because Idon't like to ask for things, so
it's just more so the unknown.Yeah, but I thought it was great.
Uh. Molly was really nerus aboutgetting me stuff. It was amazing.
It was we did. Uh.We had dinner on Friday, which
is really good. Uh. Youcan't forget about being in this area.
There's how many good restaurants there areyea, even the ones you hadn't heard

(00:43):
of before, like the place wewent to. It has like fifteen hundred
views on yelp. Oh, we'reall positive, which is good. Public
was fun on Friday, did Jimmy'son Saturday of the game. I love
my birthday. I don't like attentionon myself in ways I can't control it.
Yeah, I like being on stage, great, telling jokes great,
But things like birthday I like moreso is everybody hanging out? I think

(01:06):
that's more. That's what I likeabout birthdays for anybody, So like get
a chance to see everybody and justkind of relax. Yeah, and then
like obviously you're a flact on likewhere we were last year and that type
of thing. So it was dope, can't wait for my next one?
Yeah, have you thought about planningthat one yet? You're? Um,
yes, I think that we shouldtake a show trip maybe to like the
woods or something like you're happy placedude, go to like a cabin in

(01:30):
a week summer so we can go, like, can you is there somewhere
to like float in a river there? Like a lazy river? Yeah.
The one was like so in Minnesota, like that's a common thing. It's
like, yeah, or to beinglazy, everyone call it. I feel
like it's not as much here.I did it one to peb and that
was because they have the one fairymight have been the one we did.
And in Georgia you shoot the hoochand that's like the Chattahoochee, like you

(01:53):
take out and stuff and it's likea whole thing and I really want to
do that. Before I moved andlike just weather and like they kept closing
it down because of the river beingdangerous or something. Well, this summer
has been possible to do anything.I feel like, yeah, so I
think we should. We could stillthere's still some time maybe to do like
a little river. I would loveto. I think that'd be so fine.

(02:14):
So yeah, next summer you coulddo that. But also before summer's
over, we could go float. We just have some crazy like weekends.
Funny Molly was like, we shoulddo a party at their farm, Like
yeah, but like so this weekend, I'm gonna be in Dallas, Yes,
next weekend? Is is that theweekend before the show? No?
Is it? Yeah? It's yeah, it is the weekend before the show.

(02:35):
That just gave me a yep yep, okay, yeah, Advanced Labor
Day. Yeah that's crazy at theshows and like two weeks yep, that's
like actually crazy, it is.It's it's I mean, it's coming it.
We'll be there before you know it. I think you're ready. I
don't know, du although um,I always think I'm not ready, and
I think it's because I just wantto make sure everybody who comes to show,

(02:58):
because I know, like money sitefor every buddy, everybody has things
going on, Like I just wantedto be such a good night out that
like I it's I almost don't enjoythe show. And I mean I've never
gotten off the stage and that wasa good show. Yeah, that's except
for Saint Pete. I'll never forgetit. Like four years ago, I
do like an hour and a half. I'm like, this might be the
greatest hour and a half in thehistory comedy. Thank god we videoed it
and then hey, videos corrupted.I think that that venue though, because

(03:23):
like we try to do that thenext year and then the same exact thing
happened. I'm like that venue mustbe haunted, like there's something going on
that's just like not allowed to happen. Well, the play him used to
be a church of Christian Science, and then the parishioners unfortunately all kind of
passed away so they couldn't keep it, and then gave it to Saint Pete
College. It is one of thecoolest looking venuesous, Yeah, so that

(03:44):
could be it. I think that'sit. That's what I've decided. That's
scary though, Listen if you've everthought about going. If you are going,
bring a friend because even if theydon't know the podcast on the show,
it's still just It's comedy is prettyuniversal. DMed and Kyl Krumer are
beyond funny sauce decently funny. I'mokay, but raising mind for the Fisher
Rouse is the whole goal. Onehundred thousand dollars raised, which is so

(04:09):
I know, sometimes I gloss overit. I'm like, man, that's
insane that we've done that. Yeah, so I wish I had the numbers.
But last year, Dave, who'sthe CEO Fisher Rouse, so like
the money we had raised prior tolast year's tour starting because support a family
for like seventy years, which iscool. So Internshion Comedy dot Com.
I'm excited for this week, alsoa little nervous. So there's like a

(04:32):
convention for radio folks called Morning Showboot Camp. We've been on panels together.
We did the podcast panel three yearsago now, I guess yea virtually.
Then we did a rising Star panel. Yeah, that was a lot
of fun. And then this yearI'm doing a couple of different panels,
which is very exciting for us.It's cool though. Radio is kind of

(04:56):
like I've never seen Lost. Ionly know about this from the office.
But when Dwight talks about like whenthey when the warehouse workers see the office
workers, it's like the others andLost. So when we do the convention,
it's like, oh, there's otherpeople on radio. Oh yeah,
if you think about it. Isaid this to me because Molly's mom was
like when the first female jocks inDC. Yeah, but when they were
doing radio backing day, there's probablythirty forty on air people and yeah,

(05:20):
yeah for us, maybe there's twenty. Yeah, like maybe, like DC
has more than Atlanta, like onour staff, right, and like we
went to Chicago, like we haveour friends, Julia, our friends.
There's a bunch of like people similarto our age. When radio there's isn't
that here? Yeah, So togo to this thing and see other people
on radio is like, oh,there there are more of us. Yeah.

(05:41):
It's really cool. But I'm especiallyexcited because my first boss, Dave
Ryan, is getting recognized for alifetime achievement. I've been asked to give
like a pre speech before his speech. So cool. I don't know if
he knows this is happening. II don't think do you think he does?
No idea. I haven't said anythingto him because in case he doesn't
know, I wanted to be asurprise. I feel like he probably doesn't

(06:05):
know. Okay, good, Yeah, because I originally was only going down
there because I wanted to me hegave me my chance. He everything.
So I've been trying to figure outwhat to say Toll like, I don't
want to overshadow whatever he's going tosay. Yeah, I'm trying to,
like I need to figure out howI get through it without breaking down.
Stage'll be Okay. I feel likeI'm going to though. I have faith

(06:27):
in you because like he you know, that's the guy gave my chance.
Like that's I mean, he literallychanged my life. And then if you
look at he changed life as everybodyon this show. Yeah, like if
it wasn't for Dave Ryan, there'sno this show. That's true. I
think that he's I don't think he'sgoing to know. I think that maybe
you're surprised for him, and he'sgonna be so maybe you might break down.
I think that he's going to beso touched that you're there, that

(06:48):
he might were tassels to make himmore of a surprise. You what were
tassels? What would that do mynipples? So it's god, Okay,
no, don't do that. Okay, that's a no go no. But
I think I think it's gonna bea really good moment. It is,
I don't know, it's um yeah, I mean he's he's a great career.

(07:08):
Who do you who would give thisspeech for me? If I was
getting an award of like a lifetimeachievement hotly I would so yeah. But
here's the thing though, like youyou would give this speech but leave out
like the nice things I've done foryou. That's not true. Okay,
let's here we go. I'm I'mwinning. The aliens are They're real and
they go listen. We've been listeningto this guy for a while. Lifetime

(07:30):
achievement award you got? I'll giveyou thirty a minute, ready go.
John and I became friends after Istarted at the morning show, and you
know, we we you know,he saw that I was like going through
some stuff. He became like someonethat I could lean on. He you
know, friend offered to like listento any audio and then funny we got

(08:00):
started this podcast and he was alreadystarting. He let me join in.
Then he let me keep showing upall these things. Yes, all the
things that you're saying. Okay,I was throwing things in there because he
got three seconds left. Okay,I was just trying to get to the
part where like you let me likeget on the podcast. You always gave
me like really good advice. Youalways backed me up no matter what the

(08:20):
situation was, Like you've helped Idon't want to say like you like held
my hand during my career, butyou definitely guided me like you helped guide
me. Thanks dude. Yeah,so look at that. I wasn't expecting
that. Okay, I'm trying tosound appreciate it. You're welcome. Look
at it. You and I havea wild history, friend, we do

(08:41):
look from being bitter enemies. SoI wasn't necessarily well, you thought that
I was nas and we've learned sincewrong. Yeah, but I never told
you that, Like I wasn't likeI just yes, I didn't think you
were that you. I was funnythough, now knowing you, I'm like,
oh, I can see like howmuch you probably really didn't like something

(09:01):
right word, but how much Iwould have annoyed you when we first started.
No, I know you like reallywell, yeah, like you definitely
annoyed me here, and I thinkthat it probably is the same level of
annoyance now. But you didn't knowthat I'm a decent person back then,
so you're like, oh, thisis who we actually is versus now.
It's like I thought, I geta little bit of leeway because you know,
yeah, I can be a goodfriend. Yes exactly. It's different
now. Yeah, whereas you're thefirst person I remember my adult life reaching

(09:26):
out to apologize or something. Isaid, Yeah, I was surprised that
you did that, Yeah, becauseit was it was I remember just like
yesterday where Eric's from upstairs and likeeverybody's kind of hanging out. I think
you were like new this was therefor like two weeks, okay, and
um, we're joking about something.I said something like yeah, nobody cares
what nobody cares about Sauce's opinion anyway, walked out, and then like later

(09:48):
that day I was like, oh, god, yeah, she might think
that like we like, I reallydon't care about her opinion. I did,
so I asked Eric for your number, and I was like, hey,
I'm so sorry, Yeah, thatwas very nice, So thank you.
Yeah, and I haven't apologized sensenow you have you have? I
did I apologize last year or something? Yeah, I apologize. I thought

(10:09):
I wasn't a good friend when youmoved because I thought I was doing my
own stuff. Yeah, it's okay, So here we are, we're doing
it. So I would it wouldprobably be a little bit more put together
the speech, but I would hopeso yeah, so yeah, I would
do my best well because so forDave speech, pardon me is like do
I write something down or did Iwrite bullet points? Um? Maybe bullet

(10:31):
points so it doesn't sound as rehearsed. Because I wanted to bring up like
my first so Dave Ryan in Minneapolisis he's the biggest thing in Napolis.
So I got the internship. Iwas excited. The week before the internship,
I was listening to his show andthey are given away um uh Nellie
for tile tickets. This is one. Nellie was the niow was the biggest
thing planet and the giveway tickets thereand cut the tip off somebody's finger,

(10:54):
a listener's finger, and they didit and I heard it remember thinking I
I shouldn't be doing this. Yeah. Then hours later day put a video
online that it was an intern ina chicken boat, and now I was
like, okay. But like Iwhen I was these memories up Facebook,
we did a bit once where itwas like, what did your parents do

(11:16):
growing up? You'd be arrested fortoday, and somebody's like, oh,
we surride in the truck bed.Yeah, and so there's photos of me,
but we put me in a pickuptruck on the freeway in Minnesota,
which like today, could you imagineif I did that today? Yeah,
had an intern and a pickup truck, you'd probably get fired, oh,
arrested yea. So I feel likeI want to bring up that stuff too.

(11:39):
So I don't know, it's howdo you It's like how do you
find the great mix? It's likedoing a wedding toast between joking and then
seriously, yeah, what's that?Because I don't want to make us seem
like I'm making fun of them. Also, like there's some funny things where
it's like cam'pie, we actually didthat stuff and you were like you actually
were his intern, and that's howthe fire start. So yeah, I
think it's I think it's very importantand definitely gross him. You're definitely gonna

(12:03):
roast you have to, I meanyeah, And I think that he'll like
take it all like well. Ithink I've never met him, but I
have talked to him online. Heactually had me on his show last year.
Maybe it was two years ago.I wish I can remember what exactly
was for though. It was aboutsomething to do with like a guy or
something. Okay, I gotta I'llhave to look into that. But he's

(12:26):
great. So I'm excited for you. I think this is a really good
opportunity. I think it's really niceto your ask. So I'm also this
weekend too, I'm gonna find waysto skip out of things so I can
do stuff for the tour. Yeah, I didn't even think about that.
That's crazy. I think it's allgoing to be. It's all gonna work
out, not think we know.I know it's all gonna work out.
I think you're gonna have a greattime. You're gonna see everybody, and

(12:48):
you're gonna have fun. One hundredand ten degrees though in Dallas, my
goodness, you're gonna be inside.I'll be okay. You can see Billy,
you can see Ricky, biggest fearsof my fashion looks asked with jeans,
I feel like, do you knowwhat I mean? You can still
wear jeans, you're not going tobe outside. It's a good point.
I know you literally just said that. Yeah, yeah, it's a really
good point. I just I don'tI can't think of Maybe I'm just not

(13:13):
observant. I know that I'm notthat observant, but I don't know the
last time I went out and like, you know, just out to dinner
or something with like friends, andguys were there wearing shorts. I feel
like most guys wear jeans. Yeahyeah, except for me this past week
and that's like they're in workout stuff. Yeah yeah, this past weekend my
birthday. Oh yeah, now Ifeel like I shouldn't have Okay, well

(13:35):
we're outside though, to be fairpublic I just said I'm not observant.
So that's a good point though.Okay, so that's gonna be this week
anyway. I say. You canfollow Sauce at Shelby Sauce, follow me
at intern Genre Radio. We'll seeon Wednesday. Bye bye,
