Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a happy Monday.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Welcome to the Thought Shower intern John is my name.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
What a weekend it was.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Took some time off, had a chance to arrest and
recover and kind of proud of myself. I basically did that.
So last Wednesday I stayed in the hotel basically Wednesday
through Saturday to be close to my bar in Clarendon
that I'm involved with financially. And so Wednesday was a
huge night because Wednesday was drinks giving, Like that was

(00:31):
the yeah, I mean that was the night thereverybody goes
out and drinks. But also on Wednesday, I went and
saw the Gladiator movie, and let me be honest, it
was fantastic.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
It was really good.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I haven't seen the first Gladiator in probably twenty years
whenever it came out, and so I always thought it
was fine. I never thought anything either way about it.
I was I had not watched, like, not cut up
on Gladiator, had not like read about it. So going
to the second one, I'm like, all right, let's see
because that was a great movie. Second one's fantastic, and

(01:11):
the way, like the opening sequence of how they kind
of bring back the first movie was good. Feeder was
packed packed, and so usually when I go to the
theater by myself, it's great because like I'll pick my
seat and I'll try to pick it strategically so nobody
sits next to me, because they do. They do seats
in like groups of two, right, So I picked mine

(01:33):
so that'd be nobody next to me. But the feeder
was sold out, which was surprising. It felt like going
to a movie ten years ago, you know what I mean,
Like it kind of felt like that, just like completely boom,
ready to go. I do think we need to have
a better way of distributing the butter in the popcorn.
I know some folks dump out half the popcorn put

(01:56):
the butter in.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
A little bit wasteful.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
I suppose I've seen some places, maybe back in the day,
they fill it halfway, put butter in, then fill it again,
put butter in. I'm like, that's the way to go, dude.
I remember the theater by my house used to have
like popcorn seasoning. I never did that stuff, but one
shaker was like uh caramel. One was like ranch one

(02:20):
with sour cream and on yim. That to me sounds
a little bit too much to me personally. The best
popcorn flavor to get and this is something that my
parents used to always get this place in Minnesota, but
it's Chicago style. So you get the buttery popcorn, you
get the cheesy popcorn, then you get the caramel popcorn

(02:40):
all in one tin. If you get it warm, Oh
my god, it's it's literally the best I could eat
a whole bag, uh, because the cheesey kind of like
takes a spit out of your mouth. The caramel brings
it back in. I think the buttery is kind of
like is there. It is so freaking good. I don't
know how aget popcorn. Talk my gosh. Then yeah, I

(03:01):
went to my bar. That was pretty good. Thursday spent
Thanksgiving Day with Saucea's family friends, which that was really cool,
really good group of folks. It's very welcoming too, so
you walk in and make you feel like you've been
part of the family forever. So that was nice because
I didn't get a chance to go home for Thanksgiving
this year, so that was very exciting. And then Friday

(03:26):
went back to the bar. How to do that, Yeah,
it's kind of what we do. Didn't say that long
same thing on Saturday as well. I did try to
do a good job of like sleeping and not doing
too much because these next couple of weeks are hugely
busy for me, like obviously show stuff this week, hockey

(03:47):
regular season starts this week, Sure, next week my parents
are in town, then my Chrismas party, then jingle Ball,
then got so much going on as well, So just
a lot going on. We're gonna do this together, though,
And when I get to this today, men who fall
in love quickly usually have these issues, because I've been
told I fall in love too quickly, hopeless, romantic, you know,

(04:09):
whatever it may be. I want to see if these
are pertain to me. Starting with, they think being single
is a contagious disease, So these men rather jump in
a relationship with their uber driver than it spend Friday
night alone with their thoughts. I don't think that's me
at all. I love being alone. That's one of my
favorite things do, especially if I can just play video

(04:32):
games and be alone, it's fantastic. However, is it more
rewarding to have somebody to share your accomplishments with? Yes,
I would say that's probably fair. Like with this past
year with winning podcasts of the Year, with the tour
selling out with the comedy album going number one.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Would it have been.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
I want to say that though, well, I guess I
was gonna say, would have been more fulfilling to have
somebody with me for that?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
I don't know if that's true.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
I think it would have been cool, and it would
have been like kind of like a nice like to
have somebody who saw, you know, the the struggle, install
the process. I think it'd be cool, but would have
made it more fulfilling, I don't know, because it still
was like my accomplishment, you know that I put the
work into, so that that's a little bit tough. I
guess they follow their fomo. They say, these men treat

(05:31):
relationships like they're limited time offers at Black Friday sale.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Then you grab them before they're gone.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
They're so terrified and missed out in the one they
started to make everyone the one.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
I don't know if I do that. I do think that,
like I've only had.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Four maybe like serious relationships, So I do think that
I tend to go in there thinking, like, I vet
this person more than the average part, so that like
in theory, it should work out. If that makes sense,
I think that makes sense. I think he's living out

(06:09):
a fantasy. They say, meet the guys who've written their
the entire relationship script before you've eaten order appetizers.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
They're not falling for the real you.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
They're falling for the character they've cast you as in
their personal romantic movie. I don't think I've done that,
but I do think. You know, it's funny. I saw
this clip on TikTok. This therapist is talking about how
women she's talked to how sometimes they think they're in
a relationship with their husband, not the man they married,

(06:40):
which was very interesting thought. The idea is they had
an idea of who their husband would be, what he
would be like, his dislikes, his strength, his weaknesses, and
they try to make the man they married fit into
that box.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
And that's the problem. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
I was a bit like, oh damn right, Like, oh,
you're not mad at the man you married. You're mad
at him because he's not living out to the goals
you have for your husband. Two different things. Crazy, crazy crazy.
They're the champions of codependency. Now, your boy, think of
these guys as a motion of el crowd. They attashed

(07:20):
instantly and completely. They don't just want to be part
of your life. They want to be your life, like
a human version of those silicon suction cup phone cases
that never let go. No, I think that's not me.
I can't be your life, dude, I got too much
going on. I just said this to a previous acts like, hey,
I can't be your only source of happiness. I can't

(07:42):
be like there's somebody And this was, you know, ten
years ago when I really thought I was busy, which
is crazy now to think about. When I first moved
here twelve years ago, There'd be days I would just
take naps because I'd be bored, like to kill time,
I would just take like a four hour nap. They
look back, and I'm like, dude, you have no idea

(08:03):
you have the last time I have four uninterrupted hours
in a day, I don't know. Maybe I was sick,
so maybe like last year, but like that doesn't happen anymore, which,
by the way, is a good thing. I always say
folks when they ask about how busy I am, I
always say, like the flip side is if I wasn't
this busy, that mean business isn't good, you know, Like

(08:27):
that's just kind of like the reality of it. It's like, yeah,
being busy is not the best, but it means that
whatever we're doing is working, you know, gotta push through.
Last one last sign is they're addicted to romance. These
guys are hooked in a honeymoon phase like an addicted
Netflix series. They're chasing the high of new love and
every new relationship is different and special. I'll say this,

(08:51):
I think everybody loves the honeymoon phase. Obviously, it's fun,
it's like hearted. I've been in relationships, so I feel
like the honeymoon phase lasted longer than a few months,
and I thought that meant more.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Turns out it did not.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
But I do think we all know folks who are
constantly looking to be in relationships just for the sake
of being in a relationship. I do think that is
no boy. No, I hope you have a fantastic Monday.
By the way, uh if you look at me. Something
to do for New Year's I'm doing stand up comedy
Big Night DC, The Gaylord, National Harbor, myself Kyle Kromer

(09:30):
one night of stand up comedy to bring in the
New year. Big Night DC dot Com. That's Big Night
DC dot Com. I hope you have a great Monday.
