(00:00):
With that being said, preseason rightaround the corner, we are going to
continue continue the NFC division breakdown, the AFC division breakdown. We're gonna go
to the NFC West. Do youwant to start off with a team that
was a broken quarterback away from aSuper Bowl appearance. Oh, I'm assuming

(00:24):
you're talking about the San Francisco fortynine Ers. Absolutely. Oh yeah.
Brock Purty, the man that Iwas saying was Superman last year, came
in and was an absolute machine.Only lost one game and that was because
he was hurt, and that wasagainst your very own Philadelphia Eagles. And

(00:49):
of course, of course it waslike Bakla gave you the opportunity. We
always knew it. The script waswritten ahead of the season to put the
Kelsey brothers against each other. There. You just had to get Purty out
of the way first. This teamis full of juggernauts, whether it's Kittle,
whether it's McCaffrey, and of coursewith Purdy. I think because this

(01:11):
was something that me and you hadtalked about going into this, we obviously
have the three quarterback race that Iwonder what we're going to see that went
through training camps obviously Purdy's been theguy they've been mainly working with. Lent
a lot of questions about his armafter the injury. He's been saying it
feels good. He thinks he's stillgoing to be the same guy he was.
But you have Trey Lance, SamDonald, and Brock Purty. I

(01:37):
still think Brock is your number one. Let all three of them play to
start out in the preseason stuff likethat, see where they're all at.
But I don't think it is possibleto deny the success that Purdy had with
this offense that seamlessly came together andfelt like it was built around him.
That's where I stand with the fortynine ers. I think that they're an

(02:00):
offensive juggernaut, and I think aregoing to run the NFC West this coming
year. You know, my takeon it is that you take a look
around in the league, how manyteams are reliant on quarterback play. I
can only go as far as myquarterback takes me. Nothing has been further

(02:20):
from the truth than a Kyle Shanahanled offense. Yeah, where you've seen
guys like Jimmy Garoppolo makes some playswhen needed. CJ. Bethard makes some
plays when be needed. Now I'mnot saying that CJ. Bethard's a great
player. I'm just saying he's playedwell above his means in a Kyle Shanahan
offense. And I think for aguy like Sam Darnold, that could be

(02:44):
night and day career decision for him. This could be the best spot for
him if he was ever given achance to succeed. This would be the
chance, you know, sooner ratherthan later, because he is getting up
there on age for a younger quarterback. He's not old. But in terms
of when does the talent meet expectation, it's got to be now or never

(03:06):
for that particular situation. Now,I agree with what Brock Purty did last
year that he should go in asthe presumptive number one quarterback. But as
I said, we're going to getutterly ridiculous on the show. My hot
take is that have an open competitionwith Brock party in the lead for everything

(03:27):
that he did last year. Butdon't forget that you have two former top
five picks in Sam Darnold in TreyLance. And Sam Darnold has been a
guy that I've been extremely high onsince his USC career. He had all
the talent in the world. TheJets let him down. I felt for
him, and he was never putin a situation to succeed Trey Lance.

(03:51):
He is what he is. He'sa raw talent. He can run,
he can throw the ball as faras the football field will let him.
But for me, it has tobe an open competition because you're You're right.
They're built all the way around defensively, offensively. They got Debo,
they got Brandon Ayouk, they gotChristian McCaffrey. You name a position,

(04:12):
they have a weapon at it.The only position they don't have a weapon
at, a certified bona fide gunis the quarterback position. And I think
ultimately, trying to win the SuperBowl, you need that guy that's going
to make big place. Now.We've seen brock Party make big place last
year, but I've also seen, and we talked about at last segment interceptions,

(04:34):
brock Party got away with a lotof passes that I'm telling you he's
he won't get away with us yearnow. So for me, obviously,
that's the cream of the crop.Forty nine ers number one. Let's move
on to the Seattle Seahawks, whowere the surprise of last year. I'm
gonna go real quick. We're gonnaskim through this. It all counts on

(04:57):
how much they lean on that rungame and how much that they get on
Gino Smith. So is it aone and done type of year for Gino
Smith? Or did he reinvigorate himselfin this perfect offense where you got Kenneth
Walker, who is a bonafide starrunning back, you bring in the guy
from UCLA that can run the heckout of the ball, and then you
got three bonafide wide receivers that areprobably the top tier in trios in the

(05:23):
NFL, with the rookie coming inbehind Tyler Lockett and DJ Metcalf. It
all matters on does Gino progress onwhat he did last year? And I
think that something I never thought Iwould be saying. I think that's what
you do try and do. Ithink Gino Smith going into last year,
I constantly was putting the Seahawks down, was saying Gino Smith as your starter,

(05:45):
no shot you're gonna be able todo and have any success after Russell
Wilson's departure. But all of asudden, he's got a sixty nine percent
completion rate, He's got four thousandyards on the season, He's got thirty
touchdowns, something I've never thought Iwould expect out of Geno Smith. And
now you're seeing a team that's beingbuilt up with young guys. They had
nine of their rookie are five oftheir nine draft prospects became starters last year,

(06:11):
and they only have drafted more rawtalent that is going to be part
of their starting team. And Ithink that that shows that this is a
team that is not only trying torely on the guys they have, but
trying to bring new guys in tobuild a young, aggressive team. And
I told you when we were talkingabouts baseball, my perfect team is veterans
mixed in with the young guns.So I think that the Seahawks are building

(06:34):
in a right direction. I stillthink they're far away from competing for the
division only because it's Kyle Shanahan andthen there's everybody else. So only team
that can compete potentially depending on whatyou get, is the Los Angeles Rams,
because Sean McVeagh has an offense thatis second to Kyle Shanahan, let's

(06:56):
be honest, second to Kyle Shanahan, but as up there with the top
her elite offensive minds. How muchare we going to get out of Matt
Stafford is are we really closer tothe end of his career than we originally
thought when this trade first happened, and rebuilding, revamping your offense and your
defense, that offensive line with Putred, you finally got some life going from

(07:19):
the running game last year, CamAnchors finally showing what we thought of him
as a first round or one ofthe high round picks. Could have been
a first round pick when he wasdrafted. I think it's San Francisco forty
nine ers and then the Seahawks andRams are going to be fighting for two.
And then let's go on to thethe Arizona Cardinals where it's basically a

(07:41):
law season. Let's be honest, there's no timetable on Kyler Murray. You
look like a gamer. What isyour take on Kyler Murray in gaming versus
working? You know, it's somethingwhere it's it's a work live balance,
But you're taking too much time gameand not enough quarterback in it. Like
you're not someone who's going in herebeing an all star out what you're doing.

(08:01):
So you need to really figure outwhere your priorities lie. And for
me, knowing the way that he'sacted throughout his career. Yes, he's
injured and I hope he heals onehundred percent, but he's that type of
guy that he will hold out andthere's nothing wrong with us. If this
is you, you do it,will hold out until he is one hundred

(08:22):
percent fully healthy. He will notrisk it. He is a me first,
not a team first. Absolutely, and especially in a team that's in
recovery stage right now that's going tohave to start rebuilding from the ground up.
It's not exactly the mentality you wantto see out of your quarterback.
So basically, push comes to shoveat San Francisco forty nine ers everybody else,
with a slight chance that the Seahawksand the Rams could catch him depending

(08:43):
on what we get from the quarterback. This is for the love of Sports
