And Dabo Sweeney said, it's embarrassing where we are as
a sport and the fact that you want this tight
end and this defensive end to play for your college
football team after they were just in NFL camp is crazy.

I mean, he's not wrong at all.

No.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
I mean, that's the right word.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
But Lane Kiffin made a joke about it. He's like,
they're going to get me for tampering by watching Browns practice.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
I mean, this isn't a joke.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
You're talking about now you want grown-ass men that should
be playing in the NFL to come back to play
college football for another year.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Look what we're talking about.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
With Lane Kiffin, right?

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Look at how he left Ole Miss last year. Lane
Kiffin treads the line quite a bit throughout his career,
and he's gotten his haters, but to his credit, he
doesn't really care.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I'm with Sweeney here, though. The NCAA under Teddy Roosevelt
was brought in, and obviously it goes back to 1900s
when kids were dying because they didn't have the right equipment.
It was the early stages of football. And Teddy Roosevelt,
the president of the United States, said, hey, listen, you know,
we need an entity to a nonprofit entity, by the way,

which the NCAA is no longer like that to take
care of these kids. And we're not taking care of
the kids. One hundred and twenty five years later, we're
allowing NFL players to come back and a court is
now going to rule on whether or not they can
play stupid. It is.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
It is stupid. Tony Romo. pleads no contest to an
OWI that occurred on July 23rd, and his driving privileges
revoked for six months after he pleaded the no contest
on Tuesday. following a plea with the Milwaukee County Court.
I believe he alluded to debilitating and constant back pain

in a social media post.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
He says he got off of painkillers, which I just
went through cancer treatment, and I had to get off
of painkillers.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
It took me three months.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
It's not easy. And he said that he turned to alcohol,
which was a mistake. Then he got behind the wheel,
which was another mistake. But I don't think the dude
should lose his job over it. I mean, I don't
condone any of it because the NFL has strict policies
around on getting ride shares and stuff like that, even
retired players. So you got to know better. Don't get

behind the wheel of a car. Too many people die
that way and kill other families and stuff like that.
But that being said, my God, I mean, you know,
we're talking about Josh Jacobs might be able to come
back after knocking his girlfriend out in an elevator.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
And we're all over Tony Romo.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I know.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
And, you know, crucifying this guy, you know, for a
drunk driving charge.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
I mean, my God.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
I mean, it's just this is what social media does now.
it absolutely gets on you for these things that are
personal mistakes.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
And he addressed it. None of it's an excuse.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
These are my failures, and I take responsibility for them.
Give him that, at least.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
He loses his job, he's going to lose his job.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
But, you know, we're all under the same scrutiny.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
It's not like it's Mark Sanchez. Significantly worse situation we're
talking about here. I think he's got some issues, Mark.
Mark's got some problems, I think, too. But that's for...
