Speaker 1 (00:02):
Lunchtimers. This is the Matt Thomas Show.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Jenno one in Houston. Good morning, everyone, and welcome to
a Friday edition of The Matt Thomas Show with ross
Is Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
I guess I would have to go. I would choose
dudes on dudes, I'm not gonna be happy about it.
Slip that right now, right clip.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
It for the thickest, biggest I've ever seen in my
entire life. I literally had my vertebrae sore for like
a half an hour. I mean, I guess you know
what I could do walking bets. That's gonna be a
jiggle we don't want to see. I'll let you be
my status bitch if you want to sometimes someday I
would love to. I can't do it one day a year.
Come on, I'll give it to you one day a
(00:45):
year and clip that, or just have to suck it
up and go. You know what? He sucks that. He's
our suck guy, Turkey Trutton, and he's found a woman
that makes him run gobble gobble. Care what they do
in their bedroom? I got it may be a best
of that last one. Yes, I thought the vertebrae one
(01:06):
was the best of can I can I request to
hear that with I don't even remember this. What was
the context on this? It was the sorry speed bumps
at Summer Creek and speed bumps.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Okay, okay, so you manipulated that one a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah this wasn't do it again. We're the thickest, biggest
I've ever seen in my entire life.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I literally had my vertebrae sore for like a half
an hour. Okay, you took speed bumps out. Yeah, okay, it.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Was a little like dirty pool, but that's okay, no, no, no,
we fully encouraged that everything game. It's anything goes Friday.
That's exactly what that is right there, Oh Connor recovery.
We don't we don't pay you enough, and we're gonna
miss you when you leave us eventually. It is the
Matt Thomas Show with ross of covering you today from
(01:59):
Oaklaw Lahoma City, Oklahoma, where it's rainy, it's dreary, and
the Rockets are gonna take on the seven and one
thunder tonight right here on Sports Talk seven ninety. You
want to get you some popcorn, get your cold soda
or two, maybe something little stronger if you want to
sit back and listen and catch them outstanding NBA basketball
(02:22):
tonight right here on seven ninety, Is that correct, Rossfield Reale?
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Yes, can't wait. Nothing else going on Friday night. Let's go,
let's go Rockets?
Speaker 2 (02:31):
All right? Yeah? Who is the host of tonight's launch pad?
Speaker 3 (02:35):
That would be one Dan Matthews today, and I believe
Sunday after I did Monday and Wednesday, so we're basically
splitting duties at this point.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Nice, Nice, all right. It isn't anything goes Friday, as
is the case every Friday we've had in the history
of this radio show, which means you get to dial in.
It's seven to one three two one two five seven
ninety seven to one three two one two five seven
ninety and Ross explained to the audience, especially the ten
o'clocker's the essence of an anything goes Friday. Yes, Matthew.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Now we are on two hours earlier, but that doesn't
change the game. On a Friday, you can talk about
anything you want to get into on the phone lines
at seven to one three two one two five seven
ninety seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
Of course, as matt has mentioned, the Rockets and the
Thunder will be playing tonight. Of course, we do have
(03:26):
the Houston Texans taking on the Detroit Lions. It's a
battle Red Sunday Sunday night football. We've been waiting all
day for Sunday Night. I'm excited for the Texans to
be on a national stage and hopefully they don't embarrass
the city of Houston like they did on Prime Video
a Thursday ago.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Uh. In the uniforms that were in the red helmets,
the red pants, I believe they're gonna go with the
red tops. Those look very good. Those are my probably
my favorite of everything. Yeah. I like the all battle
reds and I like those battle red helmets as well. Yeah,
everything else the Texans were and I know, I'll I'm
just a real everything else looks like the Atlanta Falcons
this these will be definitely Houston Texans uniforms. I'm just saying, Okay,
(04:09):
that's your opinion, man, And I don't think I'm buy
myself in this. I may not be the majority, but
I'm certainly the minority is a lot long bigger than
than like two percent. Put it that way, Okay, you
we can also talk about the Baltimore Ravens versus Cincinnati
Bengal Al Michaels finally woke up for a game and
(04:31):
it was important and it was good. First of all,
that game was outstanding. Secondly, we gotta do something about
this officiating ROSSI where we oh, yes, not one but
two miss calls on the very last play of the game.
And it feels like to me and maybe just because
(04:53):
we're in the heat of the moment right now, the
NFL officials are and maybe it's just because it's the
Thursday night games, we're getting some very bad miss calls.
Final play of the game. Uh, Cincinnati is gonna go
for the win after scoring a touchdown, go for the
two point win the game.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
The quarterback, obviously Joe Burrell UH takes a snap, drops
back throws to the right corner incompletes the pass. The
tight end is it Josee or is it the second receivers?
He a tight end or seem more like a second receiver?
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Goseki is a yeah, he well kind of both. He
He is their tight end, but eric all towards a
cl They like to run him in the slot, so
he is technically a tight end, but they like to
put him.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Use him as a slot receiver. Yeah, he's a really
he's like, he's a really big receiver. He was held
in the play. No if fans or butts. He was
one on the very last play of the game, the
very last play.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Watch what rewatch it? Rewatch it? He flops. He jumps
up and throws his arm up. It's a flop from Goseki.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
All right, I'm gonna go look, yeah, we'll look.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Okay, Now he's held. He's held at the first at
the line of scrimmage, which you can do.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
That's legal. Right, once the ball, right, you got five yards.
Once the ball leaves Burrow's hands, you have to let
go watch him. He just throws his arm up. But
it's kind of a flop to me. I'm okay with that.
No call, but Joe Burrow definitely gets hit on the face.
Joe Burrow got two face masking calls should have been
called against the Ravens now The first one didn't matter
(06:24):
because they want up scoring a touchdown anyway. The second one,
which was the final play of the game, he got
his face mask grabbed. That's that's another play. Now you've
got me inquisitive about the Gseki or whatever.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
No, I'm with you because eyes last night I went
to my head hit the pillow, thinking Mike Gseki got
mauled out play. But when you watch the replay, he
gets chucked at the line of scrimmage, which is legal,
and then there's kind of a minor tug of the jersey,
which is also I believe legal within five yards, and
then he watches it he kind of flops. He pulls
a soccer flop on that play.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Okay, well, I'm gonna go back and look because the
I I'll be brutally honest with you, I did not
postgame shows do nothing for me. They had the officials
at Terry McCauley, I think works the Amazon broadcast, and
he said the exact same thing. Now, I want not
He's in the heat of the moment too, so I
don't know exactly it, but I'll you know, I will
do this because I'm I.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Will send it to you right now, Matthew.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Okay, and you know what, I trust you. You're not
making it up.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
No.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Yeah, But at first, Blush, I'm with you. First Blush,
I was like that, how do they miss that? This
is ridiculous? But then a face masking was clearly a
face mask, absolutely clearly a face mask. But Gaski went
soccer flop. He went soccer flop. Well if he does,
and he's the d of the week if he does that,
because I was getting ready to defend the Bengals in
that last play. And now, granted, Joe Burrow, he you know,
(07:45):
he get the face mask. There's nothing he can do
about that. And by the way, he's getting beat up.
I know we've got a lot of LSU fans that
listen to the show. Rossie, Joe Burrow needs he needs
some help, just like C. J. Straw needs some help.
That kid's gonna get hit. He's anna survive a season. Yeah,
he has been. He was beating up. He was like
(08:05):
holding his hand, his right his left hand I think
of righting hand or whatever it was, trying to pick
up his helmet. He looks like he's battered and bruised.
Now he's damn good. That was a damn good football game.
O great the a little bit of the third quarter,
in all the fourth quarter, those are hiighting unbelievable offenses.
(08:26):
Just when you think Lamar Jackson's gonna take that step
back and it's gonna throw the untimely interception, which he
did throw one late in the game, but he led
a large drive and then Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow
looked like they were best friends. It was like Montana
to Rice all over again. That was finally a Thursday
night game. He sat back and went, damn, I want
(08:48):
more of that, because mostly these Thursday night games, not
every one of them, but most of them have sucked.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Yes, and we blame it because it's Thursday. Because of
the quality of the football, they don't have enough time
to recover. But I mean last night was an example.
If you put two really good teams on Thursday night football,
they can still perform and.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Give you an entertaining game. And I still believe this,
and this may be a very small minutia thing. I
think the NFL would be smart to keep the travel
for the road team to be within like an hour
hour and a half tops. I don't think it does
any favors for the Texans to have to get on
a plane and get up to New York so early.
You know, that's three and a half hours up there.
I mean, there's just you don't you don't sneak your
(09:26):
way around to New York quickly. I think having Minnesota
go to Los Angeles and play was kind of stupid.
I think you're keeping not necessarily in you know, in
the division. But like a Houston Dallas game would be
a perfect Thursday night game, easy travel, get up there fast,
It doesn't it really because you need every minute of
rest possible, and you know, Sincy to Baltimore is maybe
an hour flight, maybe hour fifteen tops. I think the
(09:49):
proof of the pudding is keep these teams close, make
them divisional matchups so they really give a damn about them,
and they also it meant a lot more. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Well, video keeps cutting the checks for these terrible games,
and you give him a couple of good ones. And
then that's the thing though, too, because NBC wants great games,
ESPN wants great games, and there's only so many to
go around. And one last thing that thoughts in prayers
to anybody facing Jamar Chase and or Joe Burrow or
Lamar Jackson in their fantasy league.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Yeah, a member of the seven ninety family who can
say his name, Dan Matthews. I think it's already scored
six hundred points and has only used one game to
towards his point numbers. Yeah, that is that is correct.
Yet another reason why we come on, are you? Another
reason why is because Jamar Chase went off.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
You're just making up excuses. Now, that's probably accurate.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
I do have McPherson the kicker for the for the Bengals,
and he didn't get me a fifth extra point because
they didn't go for it. All right.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
You know what, I need you to find somebody to
replace you in this league. As commissioner, I demand you
find somebody to replace you, and they need to be
as bad at fantasy football as you are.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
I don't know. I've won some money in over the years.
Why he keeps saying that you're spreading bad vicious room
with you. I may not have a championship, but you
know what I am. I'm the Houston Texans and fantasy football.
I've got to the playoffs once in a while. You've
got three tight ends on your team, not right now,
I don't. It's you see, you don't even know who's
on your roster. No, I don't, nor do I care.
(11:12):
I'm trying to trade the packer tod In Craft, and
no one will even respond to my to my message, Well, yeah,
you true should have traded him after his twenty point week.
All right, on the radio program today eleven o'clock, we're
gonna talk to the voice of the Troit Lions, Dan
Miller is gonna be with us in about forty five
minutes from now. We've got that coming up. We will
(11:33):
wake the strippers up at twelve noon. People are like,
what are you to do with the strippers? Well, they're
asleep right now. There's no way I'm waking them up.
I can get them up in an hour and a half,
but not right now. Leave them be. Yeah. Also today
on the radio program, we're going to have non Florida stories. Well,
I believe it or not, Anne Ross, We've got a
few other things to get to, including will Nico even
practice this week? Will he play? I mean, it doesn't
(11:53):
sound like it's gonna happen. What's gonna happen with the Astros?
As this Bob Knight story about Alex Breadman going to
second base has opened up a bunch of opportunities, perhaps
for teams that are looking for second baseman. Will Ryan
Presley be talked about as a potential trade chip as well?
For the Astros? And we had the Rockets against Oklahoma City.
(12:14):
So a busy Friday night edition, Friday morning edition that
is of the Matt Thomas Show with Ross. I'm here
in Oklahoma City. Ross is back in Houston. Seven to
one to three two one two five seven ninety seven
to one three two one two five SEVENAINTI stay with
us until two o'clock today here on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
No fear, no worries, and no pair. It's the Matt
Thomas Way. Houston. Sports Talk continues with the Matt Thomas Show.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Ten twenty one and is a Matt Thomas Show with
Ross here from Oklahoma City. We'll visit with the Voice
of the Lions coming up at eleven o'clock today. All right,
So I looked at the tweet you sent, and, uh,
Gasenki absolutely flopped rather easily. It just, you know, maybe
I should start watching the NFL post game shows. Maybe
they would have talked about it more. But I, yeah,
(13:06):
that was terrible.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
He hooks in an arm like the James Harden down
the lane.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Did you see the comments to the tweet that you
sent me? Oh? No, I didn't.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
I don't normally look at comments of tweets. These days
quite frankly, because it's all bots and idiots.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Right, ninety percent of them were about Lebron James.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Oh really, Okay, that's funny.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Is Lebron I mean, does Lebron James? Is he the
this is he? Is? He considered the greatest flopper of
all time? Now, No, I wouldn't put him close. I
would say number one first of all. Number one for
me is mount of Genobili.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Yeah, Mano Genobili is the o G one of the
all time greats.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Karl mal Malone was a huge flopper back in the day.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
I mean, I guess Lebron did it has some I
think maybe Lebron's flops were on like bigger stages. But
I would say, like most consistent flopping, like Chris Paul
flops every trip down the court. I don't think Lebron.
I think Lebron does have some flops, but I don't
think he flops every day. James Harden flops every time
down the court. Luka Doncic flops every time down the floor.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
And here's the thing I don't get with today's athletes,
and that that could be certainly what we saw last
night in the in the game because I mean Kaseki,
I felt bad for him until I saw it on replay.
But in the NBA, every game is nationally televised, meaning
you can go on League Pass and watch every game
if you wanted to, you paid for or you're at
(14:32):
least locally, you have the games on. If you're a
fan of a particular team. You can't get away with
flopping anymore. You cannot. It's impossible to get away with flopping.
And they don't catch it right away in the game
as it's happening. The NBA is gonna come after you
and find you. They're gonna get you because they don't
want any more of it. But yet today's players ROSSI
(14:53):
in twenty twenty four still do it. Well.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
The NBA said they were gonna crack down on it,
and they I mean, when's the last time you remember
hearing about a fine for flopping?
Speaker 2 (15:03):
It hasn't happened.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
There are probably fifty flops in every game, and I
don't I mean, I know there's been one or two
that probably aren't coming off the top of my head,
but you never hear any about anything.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
There is no repercussions. What is a fine for a flop?
Five thousand dollars something like that. Nah, it's hopefully more
than that. I don't think it's very much. Yeah, honestly,
it's not much, too really, and it's never going to
be much relative to what these players are making.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Oh my god, it's even less. I thought you, I
thought you undersold it. Two thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
That's worth it. That's that's pocket change. That's less than
pocket change for these players. I have to be unfortunate,
very real of the audience. What Ross is saying is
one hundred percent right. It's literally pocket change.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Looks like it did happen. It happened ten times last year.
I didn't even know that the ten players got fined.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
All right, Well, there you go.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Joshua, Jordan Clarks and Paul George, oh, Jalen Brunson, christophs
erthingis like it's been a few.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Not a who's whose list? Put that way. I mean,
Brunst is obviously very good, but the rest of the
guys are just okay. All right? Is it? Anything goes
Friday here on this Friday edition of The Matt Thomas Show.
Ross seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
If you want to jump in seven one three, two
one two five seven ninety. I don't know how many
of you watched it since any Baltimore game, but it
gave me pause that we could have a great Thursday
(16:34):
night game, and we got it last night. So that
was nice to see. Uh, what else is going on
in the world of sports? The injury report came out,
Like I said after our show yesterday, no sign on
Nico Collins on there, there's I mean, we can go
ahead and say it right, there's no way to know
how no chance he's playing Sunday. Correct. No, yeah, it's done.
(16:54):
It's it's done. They didn't even activate his practice window.
He can't play, so when did And maybe we got
a dollarp Aaron here and to find what's going down here,
because it doesn't he.
Speaker 6 (17:05):
Said, checked all the boxes, one hundred percent ready to go.
I was like, well, okay, I got excited.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
It would be like, rosso, here I go, trying to
let's go. I love it. I'm ready. I'm ready. I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Anytime I hear you go, it would be like and
I'm like, oh, here we go.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
This is a rollercoaster ride. No, I don't know what
to expect. It's like a mystery box. Could be good,
could be bad? What do you got to go? Ahead?
Do it? Okay? This is terrible. Uh you just came
back from a long trip and you nicked it off
to get over the jet leg.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Well yeah, I'm going right into coming back to work
like an idiot.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
By the way. Okay, and then you say, well, I
don't think I can go back to work the next
day because I still need another day a jet leg.
I've got more jet leg. He's fine, but he's not
ready to test it, which is bizarre. Hmm. Either that
or just Aaron got it wrong. What's gonna happen?
Speaker 3 (18:07):
I mean, I mean he said pasted all tests. Maybe
that he's on track and feeling good.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
We'd have to go back to the wording again because
the wording of ready to go was was not accurate.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
How in the hell are you supposed to play a
game with the most high octant offense in the NFL
when you have one legitimate downfill threat Xavier Hutchinson you're
talking about? Uh, we go ahead, try one more time.
Uh man, here we go, I got it.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
Go Texans WR one Nico Collins has passed all tests
for hamstring, no setbacks, per league sources, regained speed, mobility,
ready to go, matter of when not if he'll be
designated for return. Team still determining if activating him for
a Lions game. So he's ready to go, but maybe
(19:02):
sometimes teams will say, Hey, we want to let you
tell us when you're ready to go, and then we'll
give you another week with the hamstring type of deal.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
I mean, I guess I can mean, how can we
argue that? I mean? But the thing is you would
probably hold him out if it was like Jacksonville or something.
This is Detroit.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
I told you the inverse can be true if you're
gonna lose. How do you think if Nico Collins is there,
are they probably still going to lose the Lions. Oh
so if he's not going to help you win, then
then what's the difference If you're.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Saying that in the building, that's my favorite term of
the day in the building there and they'll never say
it publicly, and they're certainly going to coach to win
the game, but in their mind they're thinking it's not
gonna be great.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
It's kind of a like a Popovich used to do
this when when Tim Duncan and Tony Parker and all
of them were on their last legs. He would arrest
them against really good teams because that's a fifty to
fifty make a fifty to fifty game a fifty one
to forty nine game, So what if you can make a.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Sixty to forty game a seventy thirty game, then then
that's better.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
I don't know that's what's happening here. I'm just we're
just talking.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
No, I don't think it's a terrible assessment thinking that
even if Nico at eighty percent ninety percent isn't gonna
make that big of a difference. It's like worrying crushed anyways,
So maybe we want to start watching a Netflix show
On Sunday Night's appeared to watching the Texans.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
I will be watching, And that is that line? Still
holding it three and a half? Oh, it's it's a four.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
That makes it? Oh no, no, it's a three and
a half. Still hmmm, Wow, I we know Texas. Darlene's
going because she wants to get on camera as much
as possible.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Yeah, you're gonna get your years spiked shoulder pads going,
Maddie and be ready to go with the game.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
I'll be on the way back from Detroit, so I
will not be able to be in attendance for the game. Okay,
hopefully you win rolling them bones, but I'll be there
in spirit. I'll take you that for sure. Ten twenty
nine on The Matt Thomas Show with Ross, it Isn't
Anything Goes Friday. Anything you want to get to, whether
it be the Texans Rockets versus Grizzlies tonight, whether it
(21:14):
be the rumors of a couple of things baseball related
on the asteroids. We'll get to that in a moment.
Seven one three two one two five seven ninetie seven
one three two one two five seven nine, ten twenty
nine on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 7 (21:29):
Stop that wave busting the waves since the strolls We're
in the doll Please.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Don't call wave busters Houston.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Sports Talk continues with the Matt Thomas Show.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Timers. Ten thirty five. Isn't Anything Goes Friday On The
Matt Thomas Show with Ross. I'm here in Oklahoma City,
Ross back in Houston. You guys, thank you very much
and ladies for listening to our show every day. We
appreciate that we are now on in day number four
of our ten to two spot. Uh the uh first
show is in Atlanta today, ROSSI it's interesting because I
(22:05):
think they're just HBCU celebration of school. Ok So, not
that we're doing Atlanta sports talk here, but just a
real quick blush answer on this one. Stephen A's top
five Atlanta pro athletes of all time number five, Michael
Vick number four, Chipper Jones number three, Dominique Wilkins number two,
(22:27):
Hank Aaron number one, Dion Sanders. Do you have any
issues with that list and the way they are ordered?
Speaker 3 (22:34):
I mean, I just I'm gonna plead ignorance on how long?
How long did Dion Sanders play in Atlanta? I know
he played with the Cowboys, with the Niners, and well.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
He was a team of braves and a Falcon at
the Oh was he at both of them? I know
he was a Red, he was a Falcon, I mean
a brave as well. Yeah, okay, yeah, I think so? Yeah,
five season with the Falcons. As I pull it up.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
Over, Hank Aaron, Hank Aaron also didn't I'll play his
whole career in Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
No, it started at Milwaukee, That's right.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Hmmm, where does click Capella fit on this.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Hey, now, how about the worst spud web? Yeah, just
put some respect on his name. Yeah, okay, So now
that's the first one that was the first list. And
then they have some rapper on named TI. You never
heard of t I? Matt, No, continue what you know
about that? I guess top five? This is top five
(23:31):
Atlanta rappers according to complets. Oh this is now. I'm
really interested, way more than the sports. Go ahead, number five,
g Z okay, number four, Gucci may O. Can I
guess number one? No? Okay, go ahead, Yeah, go ahead,
Andre three thousand, that is correct, Yes, number three, TI,
(23:55):
number two Future and number one Andre three thousand. Hmmm,
so big.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Boy not in there at all. That's kind of disrespectful.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
I think I think I was saying the exact same thing.
Run through the list again. Five gz Foo four, Gucci,
Man three, t I two Future one thousand. I don't
know if I have a debt, and Matt do you have?
Do you have? TI?
Speaker 3 (24:22):
I had a Gucci? I don't think I do.
Speaker 8 (24:26):
No.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
I put Gucci at three. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
No love for Young Thug, no love Forris Ludacris.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
And those are all Atlanta rappers. Yes, Killer Mike.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Yeah, I like Killer Mike. I like I like Run
the Jewels.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
You know, I hate to say this because I don't
know the answer to this, but does it Atlanta's rap
game better than Houston's?
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Right?
Speaker 2 (24:48):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Absolutely? Nationally? Nationally it's well way more respect that you
hear that what you hear?
Speaker 2 (24:56):
What ross everybody? Ross? I don't like, you know.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
I don't like when I say something that's unbiased and
truthful and then and then people come after me. I'm
sorry that I have unbiased opinions. I'm not like some people.
Maybe they're two to six to where if you're not
from Houston, you're gonna trash him and call them stiffs.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
And this is the worst. Everything here is the best.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
If you want to just be a homer about everything
and that's how you want to live your life, that's fine.
I would hope you people know if you want an
unbiased opinion, I will give it to.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
You, whether you like it or not. Atlanta rappers greater
than Houston rappers? Sorry, well, thankfully on my phone, I
have a mix of both.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
You don't name five, then five Houston rappers bun for
port Arthur.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
You know what I'm going to keep the rest of
them my favorite. Okay, this is like when you ask
a certain president is favorite by verse? Also Travis Scott.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Okay, Missouri City, he counts. I guess he counts more
than Port Arthur.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Yeah, of course he counts. I'm I'm gonna have to
tap out. I don't know after that, Okay, I should
have bunn called the show. You know, we had to
watch that, bun.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
I would say, the greatest of all times. Gotta be
Scarface matt as you know, of duh, you know. Then
it depends on where you feed in. Meghan d Stallion,
little kekey. As far as a little kekey is a
little kecky of the don legendary, I'll put zero in
the top five.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Okay, Fat Pat had a short.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
Now if Bunby and Pimpsy are in, if you're counting
Port Arthur, Texas as Houston, Texas?
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Well, hop about my favorite my new favorite? How about
the childish.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Gambino child just Gambino? Is that is Donald Glover? And
I think he's from Atlanta?
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Okay, I was talking about Atlanta, of course, Okay, or
at least he started in the show Atlanta. Is that
where he's from? I don't know. Well, I mean, you know,
these things mixed up.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
And Don Glover I believe retired childish gambino.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Mm.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
By the way, Donald Glover a successful rapper, successful stand
up comedian, and successful actor and producer.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
It's not fair. Wasn't he in the movies with Mel
Gibson too? No? Donald Glover, that's no, that's somebody else. Okay,
let's move on. I gave we gave this way more
time than I thought we were gonna do it. We're
a four hour show. What are you gonna do? You
see that? You gotta keep that in mind. We can
(27:37):
have you break down the top five Atlanta rappers. We
got time, baby, all right. So a listener of Ours
Pollard's vision on Twitter sent me this, Oh, I have
him muted. I wonder what he said. Well, I'm gonna
tell you be nice at least poward division is in
that doucheback coach from Syah Ranch or whatever.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
I'm enteray my forties. I must stop being nice to everybody.
I must stop being so nice.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
I like it. This deal with Nico is bs. He
is one hundred percent ready to go. Dimiko is saving
an excuse for when they get rolled. With the Lions.
He can say we were not at full strength. CJ
should be pissed. Agree or disagree.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Oh god, you know what, I'm gonna go ahead and
say that's a validated mute. That is a ridiculous take.
They're holding back Nico. They're holding back their number one
wide receiver that is one hundred percent healthy and ready
to go so they can have an excuse when they
lose kick.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Are we serious?
Speaker 3 (28:30):
That's one of my best mute decisions of all time.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Yeah, I don't. I don't think they're holding him back.
I just don't think that he's as close as we
were originally told.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
You okay with that, or maybe he as I said, like,
you can get close on a hamstring, but they want
you to be close for well, you want you to
be ready to go and then give you more time
because re injury is there's a high percentage of reinjury
with with the soft tissue injuries.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Well, once a hammy, always a hammy, right, especially for
receivers who have to run and a lot of sprints
and a bunch of times ding of course of the game.
That's one of the ten commandments. I Yeah, I don't
think as much as I. I don't think that Nico
would have been a huge different I think Detroit is
still better. I don't think they're intentionally going, yeah, relax,
(29:16):
and they wouldn't use it a good excuse if they lose,
if the if the Lions beat the Texans on Sunday
twenty seven to fourteen, they're not going to say, well,
things would have been different if Nico was out there.
I mean they may be thinking it, and they may
be saying, way, we would have liked to have had them,
but they're not going to go, well, if if he
would have played, it would have been a different story.
Detroit's a better football team. Yes, doesn't mean the Texans
(29:39):
can't beat them. Of course they can beat him. You
can beat anybody one week. I mean, it happens all
the time in the NFL, happens in sports period. That's
what That's what march mannis and the Nsibillity Tournament is
all about. Is beating one team that you are that
you're not on paper, not better than.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
The Lions loss to the Buccaneers at home, that's right.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
And Tampa Bay is met. I mean that's you know,
don't worry about it, don't be scared. I'm a little scared,
but you should be scared. They're gonna lose by double
digits this week.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
Uh you know what I'll I'd like to make a bet.
I'll take I'll take the Texans plus nine and a
half versus you.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Okay, I need odds giving you a bunch. I'll give
you a bunch of points. You're telling me what's gonna happen. Yeah,
but I'm still still it's no one would do that
just to do it, I have to get something in return.
So let's do this. Since we're now breakfast eaters.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Now, oh god, we need to find a good breakfast
Tago spot near us.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Just say we'll be getting uh the uh cold brew
your choice, and if I win, I get a uh
uh hot coffee.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
I'll get you an hour at that massage place you like.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
I only need thirty minutes seven one three two one
two five seven ninety seven one three two one two
five seven nine zero On Twitter, at sports MPT, at
Sports RV, and at Connor d McGovern. The Alex Bregman
(31:07):
versatility is becoming a national storyline. We'll talk about that,
and is are the Astros really going to try to
move Ryan Presley out of the bullpen to somewhere else.
We'll discuss that a minute ten forty four on Sports
Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
Astro's Buddy You of h grad text mex connoisseur, Well,
is there anybody more Houston than Matt Thomas? No way
back to the Matt Thomas Show.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
You don't know who this is? No, I do not.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
This is the biggest song of the year.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
How many options? Is too many options? Yes? And what's
it called?
Speaker 3 (31:49):
It's called Not Like Us?
Speaker 2 (31:52):
And who sings it?
Speaker 4 (31:53):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (31:54):
It is a sung by Kendrick Lamar. Just nomin The
Grammy nominations are out, Matt.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Hey, the record a Record of the Year.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
The Beatles got nominated for Now and then Talk to
but also Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
Kendrick Lamar is Not Like Us nominated?
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Oh great, I'll go running download as soon as possible.
You should. This is so good.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
I mean, let's see if he wins. If he wins
at least just one of those, that would give him
nineteen Grammys.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
The great all time songbirds again. Elton John, you've got
a Billy Joel, Yes, you got Kendrick Lamar.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
That would be nineteen Grammy wins. I believe Barry Manilo
is still sitting at one. Unfortunately, hopefully he'll win both
and get up to twenty. That'd be pretty good. Twenty
Grammys would be incredible.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Yeah, it would be. America would be just so excited
about it. All right, we'll talk to Dan Miller, the
voice of the Detroit Lions cut up at the top
of the hour here on Sports Talk saidn'ty I want
to ask you believe it or not? On Scott Boros
saying that Alex Spragman would embrace a move to second base,
(33:09):
let me ask you this, When you throw out second base,
do you open yourself up to teams that would not
be normally looking for a third basement, but would be
looking for perhaps a second baseman or b is it
we're trying to drive up the market, so the Astros
will say, we need our guy to play third base,
and we have an offer, and we need to up
(33:30):
it because Scott's now looking for other teams to compete
with the Astros and throwing the second base caveat out
there could help him draw some more attention.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Aileen, maybe there is a bit of a b or
just trying to drum up or manufacture some more market
because I mean, the highest paid second basement is not
anywhere close to the highest paid third basement in baseball.
It's just not as much of a premium position.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
And you know, he did have the chips removed from
his elbow. Does maybe the wear and tear of playing
third base the next five or six years not sound
nearly as interesting, a little more easier for him to
play second base, and his throws will have to go
not nearly as far.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Well, if the Astros could somehow sign him at second
base money, they'd be great. I just pulled up the
highest paid there's only three second basement in baseball making
over twenty million a year, xanderbolt Ras Padres twenty five million,
Marcus Simeon twenty five million, and then Jose Al Tuve.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
So basically it would not be an adjustment salary wise
to open up him playing second base. It would be.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Yeah, the second base is not going to make as
much as as a third baseman.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
So then let me ask you this. Let's let's let's
dig into the mind of Boros. Why is he doing it?
Why would Alex embrace it? He's trying to drum up market.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
He's just trying to get He's trying to say, oh,
this team's interesting, Well he wants to go to other team.
If you saying he'll play second base does get teams
more interested, and then he can go to teams that
want to sign him as a third base say well,
you know I got five other teams interested.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Yeah, he's drumming up a market.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
He's this guy's not stupid.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Well how about this. You know a lot of guys
are free agent shortstops will play shortstop for three or
four years and then move to third base. I mean,
I think if a rod is a good example of that.
Cal Ripkin was on.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
Example, estate at short, Cheeter was done at short at
that time.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
I mean, that's what that's It sounds like very similar
to that situation. Is that moving positions, maybe towards the
back half of the career, to say, you know what,
if I don't think I'm going to be able to
get the production defensively from Alex Pregnant in six years
or third maybe I get the three or four best
years left to his defensive work. Move him to second
base where I could make him a very solid second basement.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Yeah, I mean, that's even the guy that we just
mentioned as the highest paid second baseman is a perfect
example of that, Marcus Simeon. Marcus Simion was a great
shortstop for a couple of years, for several years and
at major League baseball level, and then he moved to
second base full time basically the last couple of years.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Oh, I wish we could. I wish we had the
text message between Boris and Brigman, or at least be
able to spy on the phone call, because I'm very
curious where this is going.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
Is this going to draw to like what's your gut feeling?
Is this done in a couple of weeks or is
this going to draw one of those bad boys that
draws out to March Rossie.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
I don't even have an answer for you on that.
I don't even know, because it feels like to me,
the last four or five years in Major League Baseball,
these deals have started signing later and later and later.
Like I mean, think about there were three high priced
free agents that signed in March even when spring training
was underway, and those are all Boros clients, and two
(36:45):
of the three left them, So I know I would
say it's not right around the corner. My guess is
they maybe going to the winter meetings before a final
decision is made, and maybe not even that soon. I
guess it all depends on the client, right it? For me, Ross,
when I've dealt them with negotiations, I let to get
things done way ahead of time. I don't want to
(37:07):
go to the last minute and anything to do in
my life, whether it's negotiating for a car or a house,
my job, whatever the case, I want it done as
fast as possible. Some people want to hold on to
the very last second to see how much more interest
is out there. Yeah, I don't know how it's gonna
play out. It'll be interesting. All right, Let's check you
in on what's going on in Detroit. The Voice of
(37:29):
the Lions, Dan Miller, will join us next. Our time
is ten fifty six. It is the Matt Thomas Show
with Ross. I'm here in Oklahoma City for Rockets and
thunder Tonight, Ross is back in Houston, and you guys

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Launch timers. This is the Matt Thomas Show.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Eleven o'clock Sports Talk seven, I mean the Matt Thomas
Show with Ross continues. I'm here in Oklahoma City for
tonight's game with the Rockets and the Thunder will have
the launch padd at six Network pregame at six thirty
on the Call for You Tonight at seven o'clock. Thunder
have lost this one game so far in this season.
Rocket's trying to go after an impressive win against one
of the top teams in a Western Conference. Sunday, the
(38:58):
Rockets will be in Detroit to take on the Pistons. Meanwhile,
the Lions come to Houston for the seven to twenty
national broadcast against the Detroit Lions. Joining us right now
the longtime voice of the Detroit Lions. He's also the
sports director at the Fox affiliate in Detroit. It's Dan
Miller here on the Matt Thomas Show. Dan, It's Matt
and Ross. Thank you for joining us. I have to ask,
(39:20):
is this the most excited you have been as a
sportscaster and voice of the Lions about the Lions realistically
playing on a Super Sunday.
Speaker 5 (39:29):
Yeah, I think so, and I appreciate you guys having
beyond Look, they really at the end of twenty twenty
two when they went to eight out of ten to
close the season. The den Camp right back last year
started the season with the winning Kansas City tonight they
hung the banner. You started to believe there was something
happening here that was real. And then to see them
win the division last year, something they hadn't done in
(39:50):
thirty years, to beat the Rams, to beat the Bucks,
to get the NFC championship game and basically thirty minutes
away from a Super Bowl. Understand what they've got. And
I think the most impressive thing about it, Matt is
that it's built on a firm foundation with young players
that are developing and getting better. Whereas in the past
(40:12):
we've seen maybe a Lions team that got to the
playoffs and it looked like it was just kind of
you know, put together with Stixon glue had a chance,
but nothing really that was gonna last. So yeah, it's exciting.
They're legitimately good. They are playing great football right now.
They've endured some injuries, but it's I think the most
(40:34):
that Lions fans have been able to sink their teeth
into in a long, long time.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
Let me ask you this to go back to your
memory banks a little bit, if you don't mind. The
day that Matthew Stafford gets moved to Los Angeles in
return for Jared Goff, the reaction to Detroit sports fans,
people that cover the team, guys like yourself to saying,
what are we doing here or was it time for
Matthew to go? And then fast forward to now about
the development of Golf as a quarterback while wearing the
(41:01):
Lions gear.
Speaker 5 (41:03):
Yeah, completely respectful of Matthew. It was time to go.
They just needed to turn the page.
Speaker 8 (41:10):
Now.
Speaker 5 (41:11):
The acquisition of Jared Goff, I don't think a lot
of us thought that he was going to be the
long term quarterback in Detroit. I thought there was a chance.
I knew they had to rehabilitate him, and I'd seen
him take a team, you know, into the playoffs and
into a super Bowl, and he had done some good things,
but he had just fallen. It seemed so far off
(41:32):
the map in LA, and they had lost faith in
him and certainly seemed like they were just shipping him out.
But I will say this, the guys that believed that
he could be the Lions next starting quarterback for the
long term were the general manager Brad Holmes and his
assistant general manager Ray Agnew, both of whom were in
LA when they drafted him, and both of whom were
(41:55):
part of the Rams organization that saw him play his
best football out there. So well, I think the widespread
view was he's a place holder, he's a bridge quarterback.
I think they felt like this guy, with the right
team around him, can be the starting quarterback for the
Detroit Lions, and I think that belief has been born out,
(42:15):
and Jared is now playing the best football of his
career and really put together a one month stretch here
that you could throw some numbers up there that no
quarterback in NFL history has ever put together in terms
of completion percentage, quarterback rating and getting through a tough
five week stretch here that we looked at at the
beginning of the year and thought, man, that's going to
(42:37):
be probably the most difficult part of their schedule, and
he's been at his best.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
The talent of Dan Miller, the voice of the Lions,
with us here on a Sports Talk seven ony coming
to you from Oklahoma City. You do a weekly second
with Dan and Campbell. We obviously only get sound bites
and whatnot. Obviously, the guys love him, the city loves him.
He's a typical of the typical coach speak that we'll
see around the NFL circles. But take us into your
(43:02):
world a little bit. You get a chance to talk
with him on I'm assuming several times during the week,
whether it's on television or radio. Give me some things
about him that maybe the average fan in Houston, Texas
watching the Lions from a distance, wouldn't know about him.
Speaker 5 (43:16):
You know, start with this. He's a great person. I mean,
he's got a good heart. He means well in everything
that he does. He cares about other people. And I've
been doing this long enough to know that not all
coaches are like that. They can get caught up in
their own little world and it is about what they're
doing and not worrying about anybody else. He's a heck
(43:38):
of a person. I think that's that's where you start
with him. His wife's outstanding, He's got a great family,
and I think that's that's kind of what permeates everything
he does. There's a consistency to him. He's the exact
same person if you're sitting on the couch talking to him,
doing in an interview, as if you were drinking a
(43:58):
beer in the corner, as if if he were spending
any time with him. He doesn't change. I've not seen
him lose his temper ever in a press conference. I've
not seen him ever let somebody get under his skin.
He just he has an ability to just kind of go
with the flow. And I think the players appreciate. They
appreciate the consistency. They appreciate the honesty. They appreciate always
(44:21):
knowing where they stand. They appreciate the fact that he
clearly cares about them and wants to do best by
them and give them the best opportunity to succeed. He
has been exactly what Detroit needed. And you know, his
initial press conference was the whole kneecap thing that everybody
pulled that thirty seconds out. But I tell you, we've
(44:42):
seen a lot of press conferences here because unfortunately we've
changed a lot of coaches with the Lions, with the Tigers,
with the Pistons, with the red Wings. That was the
best introductory press conference I'd ever seen because he said
the things that people needed to hear, and it wasn't
blowing smoke, it wasn't just blue skies. It was about
what the vision was, what it.
Speaker 9 (45:02):
Was going to take.
Speaker 5 (45:04):
And I think it resonated with people right away. But
he just has an infectious, charismatic personality that I think
people like, I think players like, and it has been
perfect for Detroit.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
Dan Aiden Hutchinson's leg injury was gruesome, sad for a
lot of Detroit Lions fans, like what it's going to
happen now? You lose one of the best defensive players
in the games. Zadarius Smith comes in the trade. First
of all, what do you know about Zadarius except on
the opposite side calling games against the Browns? And then
what's his availability for Sunday?
Speaker 5 (45:36):
Do you think, Yeah, I think that's up in the air.
I think there's a chance you won't play. I think
they are cognizant of the fact that this was his
bye week. Have he stayed in Cleveland and he's a
thirty two year old guy who, if he played, would
be on schedule for eighteen games. And I think they
are cognizant of the fact that he might need a
little downtime before he jumps in there. They gave him
(45:59):
some time to be gase, go back home and get everything
in order, and he just came back today, So obviously
it's gonna be a crash course in the playbook. If
he plays, it'll be a limited snap count. Look, here's
what I know about him, and he's been in the
NFC North, so we've seen him for quite some time.
He's thirty two years old, so he's not what he
was when he was twenty six, but he still can
(46:21):
provide something that they desperately need, and that's an ability
to get after the quarterback, because when Aiden went down
and Marcus Davenport went down and Derek Barnes went down,
you know, they lost three of their best edge guys.
And John Kaminski was another guy that went down for
them earlier this year in training camp, so they really
needed something. And he walks in the door as their
(46:43):
best edge rusher, So again, don't know if he's gonna
play this week. Josh Pascal will be back. He's a
former second round pick that I know they're hoping is
going to be able to take some steps this year
and help them out. But it is a question mark,
Matt about this team and what they're gonna be able
to accomplish if they can't get that pass rush going,
because it's been a problem even the last couple of
(47:07):
weeks when we've played some quarterbacks. You know, Jordan Love
wasn't one hundred percent, Mason Rudolph isn't top of the
line when it comes to NFL starters, but they get
a lot of time back there, and it's hard to
survive in this league if you're not at least impacting
the pass or somehow.
Speaker 2 (47:21):
Lastly, Dan, as you and I are speaking, the Texans
have activated Nico Collins and put him on the off
of the injured reserve list. He can now open to
practice today. So that's gonna be a very encouraging sign
for Texans fans. Tell me what the Lions secondary will
be like if indeed Nico Collins and Tank Dell are
the main two guys that Aj Strout can throw two
on Sunday.
Speaker 5 (47:43):
Yeah, their secondary is a lot better. They got two
guys playing great at safety right now. Kirby Joseph and
Brian Branch are two of the highest rated safeties if
you look at PFF or or one of those sites.
They've been outstanding. And Terry and Arnold the rookie first
round pick, has got and better. Carlton Davis, a veteran,
has been a great ad for them. A Meek Robertson,
(48:05):
a veteran that they signed as a free agent, has
been solid as a nickel. So look, their secondary is good.
It's worlds better than it was last year. But again,
I think the equalizer is if you can't pressure Stroud
into throwing the ball maybe a little bit before he
wants to, or at least force him to get it
out of there, and he's got a lot of time
back there. A lot of quarterbacks in this league are
(48:27):
gonna pick you apart, and he's certainly one of them.
So that's one of the things I'm watching in this game. Look,
we saw what happened last time out against the Jets.
He got roughed up that offensive line, in particular in
the middle where the Lions do you have some strength
with DJ Reeder and Aleem McNeil. Houston's been vulnerable there,
so the Lions have to find a way to impact
(48:48):
him or else he can make these receivers into big
play guys and that can be problematic for Detroit. So
I think if you're looking at this game, that's something
to keep an eye on. Is Detroit getting a pass
rush or is Houston able to function offensively with Stroud
kind of having time back there, And if that is,
that's problematic for Detroit.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
Well, the reality is, Dan as we speak here in
the middle of the day, it's the sixty four thousand
dollars question. Is Nico just practicing or is he going
to try to plan Sunday. We'll obviously know more in
the next twenty four hours. The last time a Detroit
team played a Houston team, it was to and out
for the Tigers over the Astros. I've got the Pistons,
Rockets on Sunday, you've got the Texans and Lions. This
(49:30):
Detroit Houston series with all these teams have been elevated
here in the last thirty days or so.
Speaker 5 (49:36):
Yeah, it's fun. And then you know, the the Houston's
done a nice job with their basketball team, the Pistons,
I think kind of looked at fans looked at those
two franchises. It's kind of moving at the same time.
And last year, obviously, Houston moved a lot further than Detroit,
so we're hoping to catch up in that regard. And
you know, the Astros have kind of done some things
that the Tigers would like to and the Lions know
(49:57):
they got a tough game coming up this week. So
it's all good. It's fun.
Speaker 2 (50:01):
Save travels this week, and my friend, thank you very
much for joining me, a great conversation, and uh again,
thanks for joining us here on the show this afternoon,
and have a great weekend and a great call.
Speaker 5 (50:10):
I appreciate it. I have a good time in Detroit
and we'll look forward to being there as well.
Speaker 2 (50:14):
Very good Dan Miller with Fox two and the voice
of the Detroit Lions with us here on the Matt
Thomas Show with Ross. All Right, so, if you've not
heard literally in the last couple of minutes, uh, we've
got the designation to return to practice for Nico Collins.
What that means, I don't know what this exact second.
Could things change the next handful of minutes or hours,
(50:36):
no question, we'll discuss that coming back in a moment.
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
to one three two one two five seven ninety eleven
thirteen is a time. It is a Matt Thomas Show
with Ross, and this is Sports Talk seven ninety Yo.
This is butN be and.
Speaker 8 (50:53):
My wife is the biggest fan of the whitest man
in America, Matt Thomas, Matt Matt Show, Reckless, Ratchet and
Don't give a.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
Eleven eighteen on Sports Talk seven ninety It is about
Thomas Show with Ross. We are with you today until
two o'clock this afternoon. If you want to jump in
on the conversation, you can and anything goes Friday at
seven one three two one two five is seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven ninety so literally,
ROSSI just a handful of minutes ago, they designated Nico
(51:27):
Collins back to practice. Now at this point, no one
knows what that means. I think Dimico's gonna speak in
a little about an hour from now. I don't know
that for sure. I'm trying to get a time on that.
Jonathan Alexander beat right up for the Texans, seemed to
(51:48):
think it's not a foregone conclusion that just because you
return to practice means you play, but not immediately go ahead.
The Houston Texans web Twitter account, it's making a big
deal out of Niko returning. They are what do they do? Well?
They put a big logo of him on there saying
(52:10):
he's back to practicing. I mean they didn't do that
when the left guard Jared Patterson came back and to
make a big deal out of that. He wasn't designated
to return from IR and their star wide receiver Matt
I know, but if he's not, if he's going to
if he's not going to play, you wouldn't make a
(52:31):
super big deal out of him.
Speaker 3 (52:32):
I'm not no, I'm not going to The Twitter admin
is there. I'm not going there. The Twitter admin is
tipping the hand of the Texans.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
I I know from working around teams that you don't
make big deals of certain things and you make big
deals of other things. Well, November six that we have
we have signed Jaden Peevee to the practice squad. There's
a big Jade and Peevie graphic. Yeah, but Jade peeve
is a huge difference maker.
Speaker 3 (52:59):
Okay, I'm trying to think who is who else has
been activated from IR at some point this season.
Speaker 2 (53:07):
For the Texans. Nobody. He's been the only player in
the IR that's coming back. Yeah, So I'm trying.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
I'm going through this since we're going down the social
media rabbit.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
Hole now, I'm telling you so if you're looking for buzz, it's.
Speaker 3 (53:22):
I mean, it's a picture of Nico Collins and it
says we Nico Collins has been designated for return slash
return to practice and we have made another roster move.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
Okay, I don't I don't know the time. I can't
even get I can't even guess the timing on this.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
Okay, Well, I mean, what's gonna happen? I think players
get designated for a return and it takes weeks for
them to come back sometimes.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
That's right. That's because he's designated return, doesn't mean he's
actually gonna be on the practice field today. We don't
even You just officially started a clock as when you started. Yeah,
it's a twenty one day window, so they have twenty
one days to reactivate him from ir dang. I think
people at least on the social media streets are first
(54:07):
of all happy to see this second law now, hopeful
that he might be able to go. But you're talking
about now again. I guess the question is is can
you have secret practices and run around and do things
away from the official team practices. Oh, you're going deep
in the weeds now I'm going I'm doing it. I'm
(54:28):
doing it.
Speaker 3 (54:28):
The secret shrouded Nico Collins practices to throw off Dan
Campbell and the lunch. They're having secret practices now.
Speaker 2 (54:38):
To bakouts, secret workouts.
Speaker 3 (54:41):
I'm sure he's working out privately. But is he back.
I don't know. I'm gonna still guess. No, he didn't
practice on Wednesday, he didn't practice on Thursday. Unless they're
saying he's really really rip rareing to go and if
he if he goes through a walkthrough or whatever today
and he's going to start on Sunday. That's possible if
he's as ready. It would make sense because I mean
Aaron will and is plugged in man as we know,
(55:02):
we have no reason to doubt him. And he said
one ready to go, so that would make that make
more sense.
Speaker 2 (55:09):
Yeah, all right, so let's call our shot. Is he
playing Sunday? I say, no, dang it, I was looking
for us for you to be on different pages. Why,
because this is easier that way.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
I will still say no. What did our friend Jonathan
a friend of the show, Jonathan Alexander say.
Speaker 2 (55:28):
He somebody sent him a tweet and said, is this
an indication that he's just coming back to practice or
he's coming back to practice to play on Sunday? And
he goes more of this is just coming back to practice.
Speaker 3 (55:38):
M h, that's what that would be my guess as well. Well,
I mean Jonathan knows more than.
Speaker 2 (55:45):
I do obviously. Well, I've a bought a lot of things, obviously,
in particular about the Texans. All right, so I think
it's at least a positive sign. It is a positive
sign that at least the clock is started as compared
to just sitting around with I think a lot of this,
honestly is ross is because this game is such a
big game on Sunday. I mean, this is a legitimate
(56:06):
Super Bowl contender coming into your building, and you want
to have as many bullets you know, available to you.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
In the clip or magazine as they say.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
Yeah, ready to fire off. I don't know, it may
it may just be coincidental, and that's probably what I
would lean toward.
Speaker 3 (56:26):
I think he would have been activated earlier if he were,
if he were really ready to go, why would they
wait till Friday to activate him and practice him?
Speaker 2 (56:33):
Yeah? Yeah, Like I said, we'll try to get an
answer for you before the the close of the show today,
as Damika will speak one last time. I don't think
they carry the press couch. Is more likely. What do
you have for me before I leave? Kind of questions?
All right, So a bit of good news, but maybe
not enough good news.
Speaker 3 (56:51):
It's he's trending in the right direction, You're probably look,
are you automatically gonna win this game? You're probably gonna
lose either way with the Lions in town.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
So that that's not the better Red Ross. I know
what do you mean better? Red Ross think there's always hope,
There's always then there's a chance. You're telling me there's
a chance they got a shot. I'm telling you if
the Texans beat the Lions, it'll be don't want to
sell this too hard, Yeah, go ahead and do it.
The biggest regular season win in the last five years
(57:21):
for the Texans. Hmm Uh?
Speaker 3 (57:25):
What was the game we were saying last year was
their biggest win in the in their regular season? Was
it one of their was it one of their games
that basically clinched them the division? I can't remember, well,
I mean this was the last was it last week
against the Colts?
Speaker 2 (57:39):
Oh? Yeah, to win the AFC South. Absolutely, it was
the biggest. Yeah, that's a bigger win. Yeah, but the
Colts suck. They sucked last year. And if not for
that bad toss? Uh who was the quarterback for the
Colts last year? Wasn't because Richmond was out? Richardson started
(58:00):
and then I don't even remembers was it? Yeah? I
think you're right.
Speaker 3 (58:04):
I think it was Garden Minshew. Okay, yeah, but yeah,
they had to win. They had to win to win
the Clinton Division. The last week of the season, I
guess that was.
Speaker 2 (58:12):
You know, yeah, you had to go to Indianapolis to
do it, so I will give them credit on that.
But this is this is a biggie. It's a big one.
I mean it's not even it's not even the conference.
Speaker 3 (58:20):
That's another reason why, Like, if you want to wait
an extra week on Nico Collins, I mean, you get
the Cowboys, not like the Cowboys are in conference either,
but have them ready. You want him ready for Titans, Jaguars, Dolphins, Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
You're not You're not getting any you're not winning any
tie breakers because I think regardless, you're gonna be the
fourth team record wise all the all the division teams.
Speaker 3 (58:42):
Uh, let's see how many losses Baltimore Baltimotimore seven and three.
Baltimore losing last night would have been good. Oh, that'd
have been huge, huge, huge, But the Bengals couldn't get
a two point conversion and the referees didn't want to call.
Speaker 2 (58:58):
Uh Joe Burrow getting a blow to the head. That's
two face masks they missed in that one game. Yeah,
that would have been helpful. Okay, let's go seven one three,
two one two five seven out If you want to
get in on anything we've talked about so far. We
mentioned Bregman going to second base potentially as part of
a what a resume, Chip, I guess is what you
(59:21):
want to call in on that. We We have the
Rockets against the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight, We've got the
Lions and Texans on Sunday. What's the big college game
this weekend? Uh LSU Alabama. I think Gordy's already halfway
over there. Gordy gets a lot of vacation time for
LSU sports.
Speaker 3 (59:41):
I think he's he's cracking a drive through Dacre as
we speak.
Speaker 2 (59:44):
Probably is that what it is? That what he's doing. Yeah,
he's not going through a convenience store in Lafayette for
some cracklings.
Speaker 3 (59:53):
Well, yeah, and a drive through Dacory. I'm gonna go
with Georgia. Georgia at Ole miss probably a bigger.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
Well, the big games always involved the Houston Cougars. In fact,
it's so big the next game against Arizona's on a
national TV stage next Friday night, all by ourselves. They
haven't been in a big game since the late eighties.
That's not true. We dispose of the of the Florida
State community College in the Peach Bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
That's true against their third string quarterback. Great jobs, because
the first two were afraid to play us.
Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
They were scared.
Speaker 3 (01:00:23):
They were quicking into our boots. They wouldn't leave. They
refuse to leave the hotel room. Is that the way
you're selling it? That's the way I saw I was
in Atlanta for a few days. I know exactly how
I saw it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven nine zero. We
will Ross awake the Strippers up at twelve noon today.
We have non Florida stories at one thirty, and then
today's edition of Believing or Not? Is it all things
about the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 10 (01:00:52):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:00:53):
Yes, sure, I don't know. It's over two hours away, Matt.
I'm not thinking about that. Hey, we just got things
started here, then, is what you're saying?
Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
Yeah. Eleven twenty eight on Sports Talk seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven.
Speaker 7 (01:01:06):
Ninety The Morning Sports Show for those who partied in
Midtown way too hard. Last night, The Matt Thomas Show
on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
Eleven thirty two, Well, the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.
This is Sports Talk seven ninety. I'm here in Oklahoma City.
Ross back in Houston. Thanks everybody listening back home on
seven ninety and of course the iHeartRadio app seven one
three two one two five seven ninety if you want
to jump in on the conversation seven one three two
one two five seven nine zero. Ross. Did you see
(01:01:46):
the h Town Rockets jerseys that are going to be
out in debuting in a few weeks. Yes, I did,
h Town, big font, big logo, kind of an ode
back to the thirty the two championship times. Mm hmmm,
kind of yeah. I mean it's got it's got ketchup
and mustard in it, so we can always go with that.
I got the drop shot. What's the mustard on the
(01:02:08):
Nike swosh? I no mustard on it. I thought there
was a little mustard. So there's the ketchup and mustard
logo is on the shorts. I like the shorts.
Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
Yeah yeah, and that the swooshes. I guess mustard or
where would you call that?
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
Djon? I would call it more like a spicy mustard,
like a stone, like a stone ground exactly exactly. Uh
you were you got a pull question yesterday about the
Baltimore Oh yes, I did. People. Let's see what do
the folks say. I don't even know.
Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
I love Twitter polls Baltimore Ravens Purple Rising uniforms fifty
seven percent good, forty three percent not good. Matt your thought.
You know a lot of people calling them Crown Royal sacks.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
The helmet was the weirdest part. The other jersey, the
the tops they won before. I mean, they've done that.
That's the color rush.
Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
The screaming red eyed raven that was.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Yeah, he was angry, is what he was. Yes, he was.
He was definitely angry, you know. You know, for me,
I have a different approach about uniforms in the NBA
than maybe the most people do. I just want to
be able to identify the numbers and players. If I
can't figure out who's out there and I'm really far
away from the game, it sucks. You gotta start bringing
(01:03:23):
your binoculars. I'm gonna have probably have to. But yeah,
that's so they' w debut and those what I think
sometime next week, I think is what they're gonna do.
Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
Okay, cool, I mean I like them, They're fine.
Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
Yeah, if I could ever get Ketch him and Mustard
full time, back in the organization. I don't know if
they would go go way back back to the traditionals
or they would just give it, you know, a like
an updated modern version of.
Speaker 3 (01:03:44):
Him over under twenty four hours before Clinton has a
jacket with this logo and stuff on it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
Oh, he's already probably got at least two jackets.
Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
He's got more jackets. There are cold days in this town.
Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
I know he's dressing like he lives in buffal Love.
Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
Now it works as a snowplower.
Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
The Tota Center is a cold arena. I mean, I'll
give him that. So we have to dress form in
that building. Mm hm. But yeah, he's and our studios
are not there. There are sometimes art we have. We
have a thermostat. Yeah. But poor Connor, he's well, he
doesn't have control of his he it's it's it's Eskimo
level in there. It's pretty bad. He does the producing
(01:04:26):
of the show from the Greenland portion of our iHeart company.
Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
So I need gloves. We're gonna have to get you
some gloves. I can't type, shaky.
Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
Tell tell the audience right now what the temperature is
in your room? Do you have any idea?
Speaker 10 (01:04:41):
I don't have control of thermats. Yeah, there's gotta be like
fifty or something.
Speaker 2 (01:04:44):
I don't know. It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
For whatever reason, a studio down the hole controls his
and it makes his colder.
Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
Than it is in there. I could see my breath.
Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
He's making a snowman. Actually, well, here's what you have
to do.
Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
Not that I'm giving the advice, but why don't you
go ahead and get the full ammonia and then you
could sue the company and you can not have some
good money. Now granted you get some time off. No,
granted you wouldn't be able to breathe on your own,
but you know there are some benefits to it, you know,
taking one for the team, so to speak.
Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
Yeah, that's great advice. Mat Why don't we have him
damage his lungs long term?
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
All right, I'm just throwing out the suggestion. That's all
I was trying to do.
Speaker 10 (01:05:23):
Will you guys testify on my behalf. I'm gonna be
out of town with the rockets.
Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
Probably not.
Speaker 3 (01:05:27):
You cut me in on the settlement, then yes, all right, deal.
That's a big type deal.
Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
By the way, Ross, you should explain to the audience
why you should not be cutting deals about settlements because
you've been burned once. Oh, we don't have to talk
about that. Oh, come on, it's good. You know. I'm
wishing everyone the best. God, you're so diplomatic it makes
me vomit. That's funny. I forgot about that until you
just brought it up. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to
(01:05:55):
do that. I'll just say it. Ross was involved in
a situation he could have very easily taken gotten some
financial compensation for it, and somebody said I'll handle it
and give you part of it, and the guy ghosted him. So, yeah,
it's in a nutshell. Not that we're bringing up bad memories.
In a nutshell.
Speaker 3 (01:06:14):
I mean, I wasn't injured in the accident, so to
sue for it would have been I mean it would
have been I would have been lying.
Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
So you wore the neck brace for two weeks just
for your health. Yes, I thought it looked cool. It
didn't look bad. Seven one three two one two five
seven outis seven one three two one two five seven out.
If you want to jump into the conversation, we're with
you today until two o'clock. What is the town of
Houston buzzing about right now? Rossie, I mean, we've kind
of gone over some bregmant. We've did a little bit
on the Rockets, We've done a lot on the Texans.
(01:06:44):
Got a lion's perspective. Yes, what do the people want
if anything goes Friday? Yeah? I don't even know what's
going on this weekend. I mean, I know I'm here
in Oklahoma. They want Brent Venables fired as a coach
as sooner as I take that for sure. They went
him fired yesterday? Oh an't they just there? I mean,
how long you hit this? His second year there or
third got to be his third because he replaced Lincoln
(01:07:07):
Riley who went to the USC. By the way, those
USC fans won him fire two boy in Oklahoma not
a great place to go get your football coaches.
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
I mean, that's just everybody's gonna want everybody fired unless
you're ripping off championships every year, which just isn't realistic.
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
Did you hear what was it? I think it was
Sean or maybe Brian this morning was saying that if
USC really wanted to go fix things, you go give
Nick Saban twenty million dollars a year to go, you know,
finish his college career. Go at USC. For three or
four years and you know, get that program fixed. That's ridiculous.
(01:07:39):
But we're hearing that in the NFL about Bill Belichick.
Speaker 3 (01:07:42):
And then nobody, nobody wanted him.
Speaker 8 (01:07:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
Do you think you think Belichick's done done? You really
think he is?
Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
I God, feel no gud feeling he'll take one more job.
Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
Yeah, because I think it's one. I mean, think about it.
In sports, in the last ten years, we've seen Bruce
Bochi retire and go coach, the managers, the managers, other
brand managers, the Rangers. We have seen Mac Brown go
coach at North Carolina. He's on the hot seat over there.
I think, oh, he is on the hot seat. But
(01:08:18):
you can't be mad at Mac. He's like seventy years old.
How can you be mad at Mac at this point,
especially when you know when when Sally makes up the
warm apple cobbler for the team on Thursday nights.
Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
But if you're a Bill Belichick, I mean you're making
millions to hang out with the man he's on Monday
and do a couple of things on ESPN. You got
a ton of young girl, you got a twenty four
year old girlfriend, You're you're already lauded as as probably
the greatest NFL head coach of all time. You're in
your seventies, what is he seventy five? Seventy looks like
(01:08:49):
it looks like he's seventy two.
Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
Well, we just elected a president with seventy eight, So
seventy seventies are now the new sixties or the new
fifty fives. Okay, I mean, you know, regardless of age,
I just don't think coaches ever want to ever stop coaching.
They It just they just can't sit and relax.
Speaker 3 (01:09:14):
After this, Can we put an age limit on the presidency?
By the way, because the current president is way too old,
and I think by the end of this term this
president is that the president elect is going to be
too old too.
Speaker 2 (01:09:25):
No, I want you know what I'm looking for. I'm
looking for a nine year old president next card, seriously, seriously,
as old as possible. Technically, Joey b can run again.
I mean he could. Like by the way, Dana Carvey's
we need term limits and Dinna Carvey's is pretty good.
Oh my god, his Joe Biden is really good, really good.
(01:09:51):
It's almost as good as Maya Rudolph's. Kamala Harris now
Maya russ Kamala Harris is is immaculate. She's like, damn,
I lost on the potential revenue with the with the
election change. What do they what do you pay my
Rudolphs not on the cast? So what do they pay
her every week to come on? Or how does that work?
That cameo price?
Speaker 3 (01:10:09):
You know, like what's the cameo price?
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
I don't know what. I don't know what. What is
Lauren Michael's paying for these days for for cameo appearances?
Oh no, because I think you go back on SNL
once you've been on there, you go back for the
first time so people can cheer you and say, oh man,
we missed you after about the ninth time. You want
to get some cash. Alec Balm was doing all those
Trump things for a while and now he's back as
(01:10:33):
Brett Bayer of Fox News. Brett Who Brett Bayer? He's
the anchor on Fox News at Night. Okay, the world
jet black hair. You know what I'm talking about? You know,
I don't. I mean, maybe I've seen him before, but
I'm not aware of who you're talking about. Okay, Well,
he's he's been he got acquitted of the shooting charges
in that movie set. And now he's like, oh, okay,
(01:10:53):
I thought you said we're talking about Brett Bayer. No,
we're talk about Alec Balwood.
Speaker 3 (01:10:57):
Dang Brett Bear. I didn't know he was black and
own fools.
Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
Okay boy, this segment went about fifteen different directions. Totally
my fault.
Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
Welcome to the four hour format.
Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
It's fine, Rossy explaining the essence real quick of anything.
Speaker 3 (01:11:15):
Let's see if you want to talk about presidential term limits.
Oh no, well, that presidential term element on presidents. Why
don't we have term limits on senators and representatives?
Speaker 2 (01:11:24):
It's ridiculous, but I digress seven one three two one
too fine, remote, we have presidential term limits on congress
and mayors and governors.
Speaker 3 (01:11:40):
I mean, is anybody not in favor of that? And
we got to get rid of this sectoral electoral college too.
We're going on this Friday.
Speaker 2 (01:11:47):
We now that our guys won. Why don't we play
a five minute music ben then do four live commercials
after that? Mm hmm. That is very inside radio, but
it's good. Thank you, Matt. All Right, anything goes Friday.
It can be about anything but the election. That's I'm
gonna ahead, put the status quo. I'm gonna put the
hardcore announce. Oh okay that one seven one three two
(01:12:10):
one two five seven ninty seven one three two one
two five seven ninety Nico Collins. There is video of
him practicing today with the Texans. So you're saying there's
a chance seven one three two one two five seven
ninety's eleven forty three. It is the Matt Thomas Show
with Ross seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:12:33):
Matt Thomas putting the age in angry.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
I want to just scream for a second.
Speaker 1 (01:12:42):
H Towns Sports for lunch on seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:12:49):
We will be waking up the stripperies in about ten
minutes from now. Also, we'll have the News at noon,
which will obviously feature some big stuff today coming out
of Texans practice. All So, during the News at noon,
ROSSI and you should talk to Connor about this. Chris Simms,
do you value his football acumen and opinion?
Speaker 1 (01:13:10):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
Okay, we've got a SoundBite of him talking about c J. Stroud. Okay,
we might want to play during the News at noon.
We got that we got rockets tonight. Astro movement quiet
at least so far, on Bregman and whether or not
Ryan Presley is gonna be discussed and possible trade conversations. Oh,
by the way, we had a Twitter since this one
(01:13:34):
question and said, hey, who would be your in your
top five of presidential impersonations on Saturday Night Live? Okay,
this is candidates and not this is elected officials and
not elected officials, right, because Dana carbon did a good
Ross Parole back in the day, but Ross pro never
(01:13:55):
got elected. H Okay, I'll give you that.
Speaker 3 (01:13:59):
I'm gonna go Daryl Hammond as as Bill Clinton number one.
Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
Really, yes, I'm gonna go Dana Carvey is George Bush
number one or Will Ferrell as George the second Bush
in that as a number one. Well, there's there's some
tough ones.
Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
Hm, Fantasy five today.
Speaker 2 (01:14:25):
Man, I don't know. They're all good. They're not all good.
Like I don't who was bad.
Speaker 3 (01:14:33):
Fred Armison as Obama wasn't great?
Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
Oh that's true, that's true.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
I mean Alec Baldwin as Donny t is pretty good?
Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
Yeah, what was it? Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton was
pretty good? H Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
Is you know what I might have if we're counting nominees,
that's probably number one. I mean, she sounds exactly like her.
Speaker 2 (01:14:59):
That is true. But I'm telling you the sneaky into
the top three list is Dana Carvey doing Jee Biden.
Hmm okay, I I think I think it's when he
does the hey, when he does like the hey, that
(01:15:19):
part is perfect, But then I think the rest of
the impression is just okay.
Speaker 3 (01:15:22):
If that's that makes sense. Uh, you're saying that one
facet of it is one facet of is is like
ten out of ten, and then the rest of it's
kind of okay.
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
Well, how about when Dana Carr when no Will Ferrell
was doing George Bush and saying strategery.
Speaker 3 (01:15:36):
Oh well, yeah, see that's also too.
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
That was more.
Speaker 3 (01:15:41):
That was Will Ferrell. Will Ferrell does a great job
of doing an impression. But as Will Ferrell kind of like,
what was it who used to do Bob Dole back
in the day when it was when Norm McDonald would
really do dan Aykroyd doing Bob Dole.
Speaker 2 (01:15:54):
That's actually true, Yeah, somebody impersonating somebody else, right, Yeah,
I get it, I get it, I get it. Who
would be one? Man Maya doing Kamala was number one?
Speaker 3 (01:16:05):
I think as far as like matching the mannerisms and voice.
She she would have to be number one. If we
adding like entertainment value, that's when Will Ferrell's goes up.
And then yeah, Dana Carvey's wouldn't be prudent and all
that stuff was great with juncture.
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
Yeah, I think Dana doing George.
Speaker 3 (01:16:22):
The first Bush was right, Like Dana doing his impression
of George. It wasn't dead on to who George was, right,
but his impression of him was so funny it became
what people pictured. Uh, it was such a good impression.
That's what people thought that George Bush acted like.
Speaker 2 (01:16:37):
That's exactly right. And matter of fact, George Bush wound
up having to take cues off of what Dana was saying,
like that and does that really mean? Let's go to
a Jimmy and Tomball The Matt Thomas Show with Ross
at eleven fifty three. Jimmy, good morning, Good morning guys.
Speaker 9 (01:16:51):
I on Anything Goes Friday.
Speaker 4 (01:16:53):
Just I needed Matt, I need you to sort something
out for me.
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
Am.
Speaker 4 (01:16:58):
I got I got two very specific types of people
that are irritating me really bad, and I need to
know if I'm in the wrong or if they're just
being turds.
Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:17:08):
The first is guy that wants to correct you when
you say you know Avarees had one hundred RBIs, well.
Speaker 9 (01:17:15):
You know it runs about it or beyond?
Speaker 4 (01:17:19):
Is he the turd?
Speaker 11 (01:17:20):
Or am I just undertelling that guy is a douchebag?
That okay, RB guy corrector guy is a douchebag. He
wants to he wants you to be and let you
know that he's the smartest guy in the room. Now
I can see way, honestly, but to correct me on it,
it makes you.
Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
A douche Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:17:38):
Perfect second is and if I'm not mistaken, I think
maybe you run into this issue before because I think
I might have heard you say before that you throw
left handed. But when you're at an event little the church,
so off all whatever, And you got a guy that
needs a left handed glove?
Speaker 9 (01:17:54):
Hey, anyone got a left handed glove?
Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
Well?
Speaker 9 (01:17:56):
Did you go on your left hand or does he
throw right handed? Still technically it's a left handed Just
I feel like the normal persons that should know what
I mean when you're asking for a left handed glove,
would you agree with that sentiment or should you be
more specific? Well, technically it goes on my right hand
because I throw with my left hand.
Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
If somebody said to me I needed a left handed glove,
I would that would that to me, that would mean
I got to get somebody for a glove for his
right hand.
Speaker 4 (01:18:22):
So it's just the opposite exactly, because they throw left handed.
I feel like, again, that's what normal people would think.
Speaker 2 (01:18:28):
But yeah, I just needed you're hanging out with. That's
the thing I'm troubled by. Who are these people you're
hanging out with.
Speaker 4 (01:18:34):
Well, the RBI one comes up just fairly often, not often,
but but the other one. When you're coaching little league,
you run into some parents that are just think they're
so much better than everybody else and want to correct
you because you know they're kids left handed, but so
technically it's a right handed glove. Okay, okay, whatever, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:18:55):
We gotta you know what, Jimmy, we figured it out
for you, by the way, so we're all saying you
are not wrong them either. Account appreciate it.
Speaker 9 (01:19:02):
That's what That's why I like you so much. You'll
have a good weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
Thank you. By the way, Ross our buddy Hans listening
to us today in Madison, Wisconsin. Okay, just texting me
we forgot a top three. Oh, okay, a top three,
top three? Go ahead or when we come back. No,
do it now, Tina Fey and Sarah Palin, that's a
(01:19:26):
good one.
Speaker 3 (01:19:27):
I don't know if that. Yeah, maybe it's top three.
They're all they're they're all a good list. And by
the way, I mean, RSBI is correct, Matt. Yeah, but
don't be a douche and correct people.
Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
Just yeah, that's what you do. Just let people say
it the way they wanted to.
Speaker 3 (01:19:40):
I'm gonna let I'm gonna every time you say RBI
or RBI is now, I'm just gonna say, I'm actually
mad at ours bid.
Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
That's why we hate you. That's that reason why people
have such disgust for you. I didn't know because you're correct,
your guy, it's ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
Oh I'm sorry. I thought you'd need to know that
you're wrong. No, but I'm trying to make you not
look like an idiot out there and correct Matt.
Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
No, No, it's it runs fit. It runs fifty to
fifty fifty percent of this country says our No, you
know that's not true. Seventy five percent of this country
says RBI's twenty five percent say RBI RBI.
Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
I would say RBI and RBIs are correct. But if
you're going with RSBI, you're just being you're being a douche. Yeah,
nobody's saying oursbi's that's ridiculous. I mean, you say fifty
things a week that I don't correct. I just let
him fly by.
Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
You don't want to start correcting me some more? Sure,
let's see how people We'll see how people will enjoy
the program. Let's start with this.
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Scott Borus, not Scott Borros.
Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
I'm calling him Borris.
Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
You always say boros.
Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
Yeah, Boris borros Is what yours?
Speaker 3 (01:20:46):
Boris?
Speaker 2 (01:20:47):
Boris Boris Boris? Scott Boris Boris, b o ra as bors.
I hate him, so I don't want I don't want
to give him the right name. I think he's bad
for baseball, good for his clients, bad for baseball. What
else you got going to keep firing away? Let's just
off the top of my head. Yeah, you know, I'm
sure you'll have some more. Don't be don't be afraid
(01:21:10):
to tell people cindemic mistake.
Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
It's just bring the segment to a screeching hall like
eight times a segment.
Speaker 2 (01:21:15):
So we's got to move on, Maddie Well, Scott Boris
caused the astrois a lot of heart failure, and no
he didn't he he has l two. Yeah, but Jose signs.
Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
What was your initial reaction when you heard Hunter Brown's sign,
Scott Boris, You're like, oh.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
By c l A see it later, Yeah, Robert Ford
like CeAl letter, Tucker cel letter, Bregman seilater.
Speaker 3 (01:21:39):
Fromer Well, who's from Robber seal letter?
Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
Hunter Brown? Hello, Shae Wickham, come hello, Zach Decenzo, Hello,
Chas McCormick. Mm hmmm. We'll get it all taken care of.
It's Jake Myers season. Baby. He's right, But if I
(01:22:03):
call him Bors one more time it again? If you
catch me say.
Speaker 3 (01:22:07):
Boros, no, I just let it slide. I did it
once and I'm just like, just let you.
Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
Can't let it slide multiple times. I'll let it go.
That's okay, that one, I'll accept. It's definitely Boris, okay,
but not Borrows. All right, let's wake the strippers up.
We gotta they missed this lastnut here seven one three
two one two five seven ninetie, We've got the news

the bout Thomas Show on Sports Talk seven Honi with Ross.
Speaker 12 (01:24:12):
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
I guess I would have to go. I would choose
dudes on dudes. I'm not gonna be happy about it
that right now. Alright, clip it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:20):
For the thickest, biggest I've ever seen in my entire life.
I literally had my vertebrae soar for like a half
an hour. I mean, I guess you know what I
could do walking bets. That's gonna be a jiggle. We
don't want to see or just have to suck it
up and go.
Speaker 10 (01:24:35):
You know what.
Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
He sucks, but he's our stuck guy. I can't do
it one day a year. Come on, I'll give it
to you one day year and can clip that Turkey
Troutton and he found a woman that makes him run
gobble gobble. I don't care if they're do in their bedroom.
I like, I'll let you be my status bitch.
Speaker 5 (01:24:50):
If you want to.
Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
Sometimes someday I would love to. Oh it, it's good
to have you with us on this Anything Goes Friday
at seven one three two one two five seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven ninety ross
It's time for the news at noon. Oh, I loved this.
(01:25:12):
Let's go to the news rooms. The man who's got
a pulse in the city, Houston, sports and things beyond,
to the news center. Here's Rossville Royale. Yes, Matthew news
coming out of Kirby today. Nicocollins, designated for return, has
also returned to practice. The Texans have made a corresponding
(01:25:36):
roster move, that being placing ken Yon Green on injured reserve.
After activating Nico Collins, who was also spotted at practice
today and matt earlier, I was like, I don't know
of putting a.
Speaker 3 (01:25:52):
Graphic of Nico Collins necessarily means he's gonna play. However, however,
right after that, there was a Houston Texans social media
post filming Nico Collins walking and running around at practice
and posted to their Twitter accounts. So I would say, then,
(01:26:15):
I don't know you an apology, I do not You
said that that first post was a big social media pop,
and I said it was just it was just talking
about the uh, talking about the.
Speaker 2 (01:26:26):
Transaction this one.
Speaker 3 (01:26:28):
If you would have said this one with him getting
a video of him at practice, I would agree. Now
that I see this, I'm with you. The social media
team is playing this up.
Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
One two three? Is he playing here? One two three?
Speaker 5 (01:26:43):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:26:44):
No, But I'm more on. I mean they're posting data.
They didn't post video of Jarrett Patterson returning to practice.
That's true, but also, I mean Nico Collins is a
bigger star.
Speaker 2 (01:27:00):
You want to change the suit again? One two three No?
Speaker 3 (01:27:06):
No, Okay, Well let's read. Let's read the tea leaves
the Okay, we mentioned.
Speaker 2 (01:27:14):
The first post by the social media team, which they
do it for transactions. I don't think that was that
big of a deal.
Speaker 3 (01:27:19):
But you add that into the video of impracticing, which
definitely to me steps it up an ouch. And then
Aaron Wilson, who we trust said passed all tests one
hundred percent ready to go.
Speaker 2 (01:27:33):
But you wouldn't take the field on Wednesday or Thursday
just to get yourself ready after being gone these many weeks.
That's something I'm questioning.
Speaker 3 (01:27:39):
Is that a gamesmanship thing of Whe're like keeping it
close to the vest for the lions. I mean the
inactives come out an hour and a half before the game.
So to me, you don't really gain a whole lot.
But are the textans thinking they gain a whole lot
and they're keeping they're not. They're gonna surprise activate Nico Collins,
although wouldn't be a huge surprise at this point.
Speaker 2 (01:27:58):
But I don't know. We will have to wait to
hear from Dimiico coming up in a few minutes. What
else is happening today?
Speaker 3 (01:28:07):
Also happening today, Matt? Your Houston Rockets taking on the
Oklahoma City Thunder. Of course you're over there. Have you
looked at the point spread? And we know you can't bet, Matt,
but have you looked at the point spread on this one?
Speaker 2 (01:28:19):
It's funny. The NBA loves you to bet on things,
except just don't bet on the NF on the NBA. Yes,
I have not looked, and I don't know if I
want to look.
Speaker 3 (01:28:27):
Houston Rockets eight and a half point dogs to the
Oklahoma City Thunder started off the season seven and oh now.
They lost, of course to the Denver Nuggets the other night,
only by two points, and they settle in at home
for a big six game homestand first against the Rockets
eight and a half point favorites are the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
So you're saying there's a chance, then, uh.
Speaker 3 (01:28:55):
Yeah, there's a chance eight and a half scot that's
not insurmountable. Jalen Green gets hot, he start talking down threes.
Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
All right, I'm looking forward to calling another big, impressive
win Rockets. Last time I played the Oklahoma City in
the regular season Game one in this building. By the way,
is that right? Yeah? Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:29:15):
I mean that sounds vaguely familiar. I can't really, I
can't really honestly remember a call tells you that your
deep research or the print board that you get.
Speaker 2 (01:29:24):
No, I'm working on it right now. I'm prepping on
like a.
Speaker 3 (01:29:26):
Moto Okay elsewhere Matt in Sports Aaron Boone Yankees pick
up his option. He is set to return as the
Yankees manager, and I'm sure Yankees fans everywhere upset.
Speaker 2 (01:29:40):
Uh yeah, they hate him. They absolutely despise him. I
think he can't manage out of a paper bag.
Speaker 3 (01:29:45):
Do you think he's a good manager or a bad manager?
You can only pick a one key.
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
I would say he's just very much pedestrian, very very
middle of the road. If you will.
Speaker 3 (01:29:56):
I like when he imitates last he has his strikeout mechanic.
That's always fun.
Speaker 2 (01:30:02):
He does get feisty with umpire give him credit for that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:06):
And also in the news matter of course, the big
Thursday night matchup last night, it was a shootout Joe
Burrow and Lamar Jackson. They got together in two games
this year, both of them big time shootouts, with the
Baltimore Ravens winning both of them. Joe Burrow four hundred
and twenty eight yards and four touchdowns. We know Jamar
Chase went off for like fifty fantasy points, but Lamar
(01:30:29):
Jackson twenty five to thirty three, two hundred and ninety yards,
four touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (01:30:34):
No picks. On the season, He's got twenty four touchdowns
and two picks. Is he going to win the MVP again?
He is going to win the MVP again because Baltimore
is gonna lock up the two seed and usually give
it to a quarterback and Pat Mahomes has not been
good enough to be an MVP candidate this year, despite
the fact the Chiefs are undefeated at this point. Lamar
(01:30:55):
Jackson is your NFL MVP, are you, Matt? That's your
news at noon all right, nothing on the offie weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:31:03):
I mean we've got a break. When we come back,
we get non Florida coming up.
Speaker 2 (01:31:07):
All right, So Houston A ready to call your shop.
Nico with the Texans Sunday Night score Nico without him.
We'll give you our thoughts when we return seven one
three two one two five seven ninety seven one three
(01:31:28):
two one two five seven nine zero. If you want
to follow us on Twitter, we'd love that, but we
want you to talk to us because as Anything Goes Friday.
We love these shows in particular because it is fun
having anything Goes Friday seven one three two one two
five seven ninety at Sports MT, on Twitter, at sports
r V, and at Connor DM govern once again want
(01:31:49):
to tell you about the folks at the Shell Federal
Credit Union where they would like to be able to
put a good auto loan rate in front of you
for a new vehicle that you're looking to purchase, perhaps
a refinancing of the currently vehicle that you're in now,
or a used vehicle that you're looking to purchase. All
will come with two hundred and fifty dollars in cash back,
deferred payments and two skip a pace per year. I
(01:32:10):
can tell you personally as someone that got my auto
loan from the Shell FCU, it was a seamless process.
It was really good. The rates were good, the customer
service was great. They kept me on time and on schedule,
and they gave me the two hundred and fifty dollars
in cash back, which was very cool. You can get
that too today with an auto loan from the Shell
Federal Credit Union. For all the details I get the
(01:32:32):
process started to go to shell FCU dot org. That
SHELLFCU dot org. Stop paying high interest rates from the
car dealers. Go to the Shell Federal Credit Union shell
FCU dot org.
Speaker 1 (01:32:44):
Or Matt Thomas now on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:32:57):
Time is twelve to twenty good afternoon. He was in Texas.
It is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross. We take
this program Uday until two o'clock. Today, we've got to
Non Florida Stories at one thirty and what is today's
edition of Helly Aaron on at one fifty. I have
no idea. What do you want right? It's up to you.
And we can do Detroit lyons we don't see them
very often. We could do Prime video. Is this movie
(01:33:24):
available on Prime Video. Yes or no? Why what did
you bring that up for?
Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
Because NFL was on Prime Video last night? Yeah, you
do it, Al Michaels, we could How about this sin
die yesterday about Kirk Herbstreet's dog passing away. I mean
it has gripped America. You know why because we all
know I have gone through this at some point.
Speaker 2 (01:33:45):
Yeah, you know what I'm upset for for Kirk Kurve
Street getting everyone attached to his dog that was about
to die. This is your fault, Kirk. Now, I'm all
sad about some dog I never met. I think it
was a very popular dog. He lived a good life.
I mean have been Ben Herb Street. I don't know.
(01:34:05):
I'm taking a day off on my dogs die. I
can take that for damn sure.
Speaker 12 (01:34:09):
Are here?
Speaker 2 (01:34:09):
How many days off are you trying to take? You're
taking Paul Simon, You're taking Paul McCartney, probably Barry. I
will work on Paul Simon. Oh you didn't take a
dog day off and Bob Barker died. I appreciate you that,
but I mean that's why I want to go. I
want to get I wanted to fight through it. Yeah,
so he had been hanging by a thread for years,
So it's not like that was a shock. Here are
the fatality days among CELEBRITI that's not how they know.
(01:34:32):
It's not how they You don't go into your work
day and put in fatality days. They're called personal days.
Ross and I'm gonna get a few extra. Okay, let's
go Paul McCartney, chick. Okay, I would say Elton John,
no Billy Joel, no Ringo star, no dogs. Obviously, yes,
(01:34:55):
m hmm. You didn't even take a day off when
Roquel Welch died. I was shocked. But do much for
me or she didn't to say? Okay, yeah, I think
I'm pretty calm. I think I'm gonna I'm only gonna
take a celebrity day, A celebrity grievance day. That's what
it's called. It's called a CGD is a celebrity grievance day. Okay, well, okay,
(01:35:17):
if my list is one deep, what is your list.
Speaker 3 (01:35:19):
I'm not taking a day off for anyone dying, not
a single celebrity. You're not gonna do not a celebrity. Yeah,
a family member, Yes, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:35:27):
I'm saying this is we're talking about cgd's Celebrity Grievance Days.
Excuse me, you know c g d's Celebrity Grievance Days.
I think I've just created something. I think the HR
world should jump on this right now. I mean, I'm
down for more days off. When's that four day work
week coming? That sounds good? God, it would be great,
(01:35:48):
all right seven one three two one two five seven
nine zero if you want to jump in seven one
three two one two five seven nine. And as soon
as we hear something from Texanville, we will let you
know about exactly where he could be. You know what,
let me ask you this, could Demiko be very just
super noncommittal about we we'll see what happens. I mean,
why does he have to be about any greater details.
(01:36:09):
Imagine he is going to be yeah, it's gonna go
step close to the vest, and you say yeah, but
probably my guess we'll hear at about ten o'clock on
Sunday morning when Schefter or something reports that are Jay Glazer.
Speaker 3 (01:36:23):
He yeah, but I think that's when we'll know. And
I think they're gonna say. My gut feeling still that
he's not going to play. But I would imagine Dimiko
is gonna basically what he says about every Injuraver. Well,
we're vow you're even right now, and we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:36:35):
We got guys behind him, and you know we we
love Xavier Hutchinson and Robert gray Good and John Metch.
You'll be just great. And we got a great pass
we got two great pass catching tight ends. Will be fine,
knowing full well that what's the line? You see the
line still at three and a half?
Speaker 4 (01:36:56):
Is that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:59):
Now Nico was clear? Does that bumping up a half point?
Does the sharps get on this and say Nico makes
it closer? I don't know, honestly, but I don't think.
I don't think one receiver is going to change everything.
Most maybe a whole new offensive line could change things.
Speaker 3 (01:37:19):
Most lopsided NFL bet is eighty eight percent of tickets.
Speaker 2 (01:37:22):
On the Lions at three and a half. Like, if
I could bet the game Sunday when I get to Detroit,
I would bet the Lions, and probably a large amount, Okay,
a hefty sum. Yeah, Well you'd be with the public
eighty eight percent. But the fact that that line isn't
(01:37:44):
moving means that there's a lot of big money on
the other side. You know what part of it is.
Probably is because the Texans do play very well at home,
they do have a quality win against an upper echelon
team in their building.
Speaker 3 (01:37:56):
Recency bias is real. And then then the last performance
the Texans were bad.
Speaker 2 (01:38:02):
And the fact that do you think there's a part
of you that goes you know, the Lions just played
a game in Coal Green Bay, have to travel against
second enxsecutive week. They're due for a dud. Hmm.
Speaker 3 (01:38:13):
Yes, that's why I have the Texans covering the three
and a half. I'm with the twelve percent.
Speaker 2 (01:38:18):
Let's go. But you're not ready to predict them to
beat the Texans the Lions. Why would I do that?
Because you just don't have that much faith because your
better red is now becoming more of a darker tinge
like the Atlanta Falcons.
Speaker 3 (01:38:30):
I'm not gonna again, I will reiterate, I'm not gonna
just blindly pick something because I'm a fan of a team.
Speaker 2 (01:38:36):
I just don't do that. But that happens all the
time in this market. This is I know, I'm sorry,
I'm different, you know what, to my own detriment. I'm
not gonna come out here and spit a bunch of
spitfire hot takes. And I'm also not going to be
a Homer. I'm sorry. Yeah, you're not gonna be able
to go to that traveling Texans playoff game. Man.
Speaker 9 (01:38:55):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:38:57):
That's what we appreciate me. That's why again this show,
unlike other shows, we're not gonna give you the blind
Homer takes on this. We're gonna we're gonna we're gonna
dial it back, give you some realism, give you you know,
and as much as look, I want the Rockets to
win eighty one games a year and be the number
one seed and win the championship. I mean, you know, tonight,
Oklahoma City has got the finished second in the year
(01:39:19):
and Rookie of the Year and Chet Holmgren last year.
They've got all NBA player who finished second the MVP
and shake Gilges Alexander. I mean this is We're going
in from the lightweight from the Spurs, the heavyweight of
Oklahoma City. So it'll be nice calling upset. Wait, I'm
just saying I'm all for it.
Speaker 3 (01:39:37):
I'm not picking an upset for any Houston team this weekend,
I don't think.
Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
Except the Rockets beating the Pistons on Sunday. Right, Oh,
well that would be in an upset. That's true, that's true,
all right. Seven one three two one two five seven
ninety seven to one three two one two five seven
ninety Uh. We were waiting word from anything from Texanville
about exactly what's going on with Nicos, So as soon
as we get something on that, we'll do that. Also, Ross,
can we can the Astros really move Ryan Presley? We'll
(01:40:02):
discuss that coming back next twelve twenty seven. Sports Talk
seven ninety seven one three two one two five seven NINTI. Now, look,
a plethora of college football games are gonna be going
on this weekend, and you've got a plethora of NFL
games obviously on Sunday and Monday night. How about doing
something like going to underdog Fantasy and taking the numbers

(01:41:51):
you might as well make some money on the side
with it as well, because you know, more than maybe
Ross and I do Underdog Fantasy dot Com with a
promo code sports mt anything goes Frodnie continues, it is
a Matt Thomas show with Ross. Twelve thirty three is
our time. It was something that was kind of under
(01:42:12):
the radar at the general managers meetings in San Antonio
that Chanla Rome kind of brought up Ross. We've have
really never discussed so far on the show, is that
there may be a kicking of the tires of seeing
if Ryan Presley would like to go somewhere else. I
want to say I brought that up not too long ago.
But the thing that helped me back is A the
(01:42:34):
money is pretty significant. B he's got a no trade
and C. Do other teams right now think that Ryan
Presley could be a closer for their respective baseball team.
Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
I would say no, but if you're looking for a
seventh he can still be a high leverage guy. He's
not as bad as Houston thinks. I mean, at the
end of the day, his era was three point four
to nine. That's pretty good. Field indepennant pitching three point
one zero that's very good as well. He is thirty
(01:43:08):
five years old, he is slowed down. Fourteen million dollars
is a lot. But if you you would have to
a trade him to a contender, and so he would agree,
I believe, and b you would probably have to send
some cash. But at the end of the day, as
we learned with the Mets and the Justin Verlander deal,
it doesn't met. You can send thirteen million of the
fourteen million, it doesn't matter. It still comes off of
(01:43:28):
your books. As it relates to the competitive balance tax,
and that's what the Astros are mostly concerned about with
moving Ryan.
Speaker 2 (01:43:35):
Presley, because they could move Ryan Presley and get rid
of a lot of his salary. It would be a
probably I'm not saying a win win, but it would
be if you're you don't want to have to be
on the hook for seven or eight million dollars of
that competitive salary on your books for Ryan Preszy to
go play somewhere else. But I don't think. Honestly, Ross,
I don't think it matters where he goes their contender
or not. I mean, I've just learned if you've already
won something and you're looking to keep continue to make
(01:43:58):
this crazy amount of money being a picture, could think
about it. When Ryan Presley's done, he goes from fifteen
million dollars a year to zero.
Speaker 3 (01:44:08):
Yeah, but he's making the money no matter what. He
can make it in Houston. I don't he's not going
to agree to a deal to play with like I
don't know, the Marlins or something like that.
Speaker 2 (01:44:17):
I think he gets. But if the Marlins say, hey,
we're gonna make you are closer, I bet he would.
I bet he would do it.
Speaker 3 (01:44:23):
I can't answer that question, but I would think he's
going to want to go somewhere where he can win
another World Series because he's getting paid the same no
matter what. He can stay here and be on a contender.
I mean, does he if you really want to do
them a solid?
Speaker 2 (01:44:34):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:44:34):
Can what is Ryan Presley like to do? Can you
buy him a tractor like roy Oswalt? You know, I
don't take this deal to the Marlins and take this
deal to the Marlins and will get you a yacht
so you can have in Miami.
Speaker 2 (01:44:47):
Can you be would you? How about this? Here comes
an analogy. Oh oh, you can be the first officer
on a major airline, or you can be a captain
on one of those cheap disc on airlines making the
same idea.
Speaker 3 (01:45:05):
Just just go to the old, tried and true big
fish in a little pond.
Speaker 2 (01:45:09):
I like my example better. It's not it's not your worst.
You're a first. You're a first. You're a first officer
on schmidd or Dark Breast, and then all of a
sudden you get a phone call and say, hey, you
want to be a captain on Mirriant.
Speaker 3 (01:45:25):
Yeah, but they're not chasing championships either of those teams.
So I mean, it's it's about does he want more rings?
Does he want to be on a contender? Does he
maybe a playoff team? I would imagine he's gonna want
to make the playoffs and be in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:45:37):
I would think so. But I mean to remember, he's
got his money in regardless of where he goes, so
it doesn't really matter where he goes.
Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
So I will disagree with you and I will say
if we hey, we got a trade for you to
go to the Marlins, you're gonna lose a hundred games,
which you're going to be their closer.
Speaker 2 (01:45:48):
I don't think he would say yes. But I think
he's just really wigging out about not being a closer anymore.
But here's the thing, somebody's got to have a dose
a reality to him. He doesn't have closer stuff anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:45:57):
He wasn't even a clo He wasn't even closure when
he came.
Speaker 2 (01:46:00):
Why is he all wrapped up in that? Man? I
don't know, but obviously it bothered him last year. It
had to be No, do you mean it made him
bad on the mound? No, it just made him. No,
he was just cranky, let's put it that way.
Speaker 3 (01:46:12):
Yeah, he wasn't happy about it because he's got an ego. Sorry, bruh, Josh,
hater's better than you. Let's move on, Like, what are
we doing here? He's like going not much better? Yeah,
after he saw those results, Yeah, he's probably thinking that.
But I mean, even when he was traded over from Minnesota,
his first couple of years in Houston, he wasn't the
full time closer.
Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
No, he I mean, he made his he made the
money being one of the best setup guys in the sport.
I mean, it's it's not foreign territory to him. I mean,
you didn't ask Billy Wager going to be a six
inning guy. Once he finished his career, he was, you know,
he he you know, he started out from scratch as
a guy that was a leverage guy than a high
(01:46:53):
leverage guy, and then all of a sudden, because of
injuries and whatnot and people moving on, he got to
embraced the closure's role and was very good at doing it.
But the speed is the delivery is off. He's always
been able to He's pitched a contact a lot, a
lot of congestion on the bases and uh it, you know,
unlike in previous years, he was not able to get
a lot of that congestion off the base pass or
they were crossing home plate. Sadly, he had a better
(01:47:15):
era this year than he did the year before, but
it still felt like to me it was a pretty
big drop off.
Speaker 3 (01:47:21):
I think I think people I think it got it.
They got in their heads a little bit more about
Ryan Presley. He wasn't that bad.
Speaker 2 (01:47:29):
He really wasn't. Yeah, I get it. He I think
you know, again, you and I have been a big
Presley guy, so it's hard for us to maybe take
a step back on this. But I think the criticism
was way too much. And how about this was the
criticism of Josh Hater too much? I would say so yes,
because here's the thing. I think you were trying to
(01:47:49):
compare it to what he did. He had a good
season as a closer. He's had some knockdown to get
out of my way. You're never going to score a
run against years, and I think that's what people were
expecting me, especially when you spend you know, ninety five
million dollars on a guy for five years, money that
typically uh Jim Crane hasn't spent on closes before.
Speaker 3 (01:48:10):
Yeah, he still got thirty four out of thirty eight saves.
That's pretty good. But yeah, era of almost four three
point eight zero for Josh Hater.
Speaker 2 (01:48:19):
If you want your you want your Eira's under three
with your nice Well he was at one point two
eight with San Diego and we're like, oh baby, he
ain't given up a run and he.
Speaker 3 (01:48:28):
Was giving up a home run every other bitch.
Speaker 2 (01:48:29):
Yeah, I'm still still not gonna let anybody tell me
that the deal was bad for Hater. But the decision
made to put in Nerris in the seventh him and
put Press on the eighth, and putting in Hater the
ninth was not Oh my god, you get to the
seventh thing, and the was a brave You mean Bray,
Brian and Brady. That's right, Nears. Narris is gone. Well,
(01:48:50):
actually Naris, he was gone when he came back, but
now he can come back again. But then no seven
one three two one two five seven nine if you
want to jump in seven one three two one two
five seven to nine at zero. As so, we have
a lot of things on the plate, including Texans and
Lions coming up on Sunday night. See what else got
(01:49:10):
going on? We got college football? Are the Aggies and
the Longhorns both all this week?
Speaker 3 (01:49:16):
No, the Longhorns play the Florida Gators.
Speaker 2 (01:49:19):
Oh so they're basically off? Then, no, Matt, there's no
off days in the SEC. What's the line? Twenty one
and a half. It's an off week. By the way,
Billy Napier, the coach of the Greators, got a the
dreaded vote of confidence and they're not making any moves
before the end of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:49:36):
The Yeah, it was the athletic director or who came out. Yep,
yeah he said, he said, billion Napier is our guy.
Speaker 2 (01:49:41):
Good for him. He'll be our guy until the finals
the first Saturday in December, and then we'll get fired
and move on. So you're predicting he will be done
at the end of the year, Yes, okay, we'll see.
Matter of fact, I'm gonna give you a one two punch.
Mike Norvel is out at Florida State at the end
(01:50:02):
of the year. I mean, how can they keep him?
But I mean didn't they didn't they just re up him.
Oh yeah his contract this offseason or no, his Yeah,
his contract is a huge path. But you know what,
I'm not ever gonna worry about what schools can't pay
anymore because we kept saying that with Jimbo at A
and M and A and M had zero had zero's
beads of sweat paying off Jimbo's contract.
Speaker 3 (01:50:25):
H I don't even know what to say. This is
just so crazy. We let these uh these boosters run
the programs.
Speaker 2 (01:50:38):
Oh, when's that changed? Never?
Speaker 3 (01:50:40):
I'm just saying stupid just because you're the six billionaires
in a room together and they don't know. That doesn't
mean they know football. It's so stupid, it's ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (01:50:51):
But doesn't happen in all walks of life that the
money controls everything. I mean, if you give a lot
of money to a hospital, they're not going to be
interested in trying to pick up certain things. Now you
give money to a university, No, only.
Speaker 3 (01:51:03):
I hope that billionaires who donate to hospitals are controlling
of the medical procedures.
Speaker 2 (01:51:08):
No, I'm not a medical precision, but what is spent
on research, and what is spent on what wings and
what you say anything? Any you donate money, you all
of a sudden become the executive vice president of making
big decisions when it's not your decision. Well yeah, never mind,
all right. Were you gonna have another example of that
or no? No, there's no examples that come to mind.
(01:51:30):
It would be like, you know, I don't know, giving
a lot of money to a political campaign and helping
them run the office. Yeah you know what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah,
as an example, just great, just fantastic country we live in, Bely.
You're getting a lot of hate on Battle at Ross
because Battle at Ross always thinks the Texans should win
(01:51:50):
a football game. What's going on with who says that?
I just want to listener.
Speaker 3 (01:51:55):
Okay, well you said a lot of hate. You always oversell.
Speaker 2 (01:51:58):
I'm trying to bellow to show rissterre overseller. I may
be I have this crazy thought, go ahead, that you
can be a fan of a team but also not
be a stupid blind homer and think they're going to
win every single game and everything they do is fantastic. Well,
you haven't been looking at YouTube channels lately. I know
seven one three, two, one two five seven ninety seven
(01:52:20):
one three two one two five seven nine zero. If
you want to jump in on the conversation, we are
with you today up until three o'clock. Right now, I
want to tell you about Uptown.
Speaker 5 (01:52:31):

eight Uptown Appliance Repair dot Com. The Rockets have red Nation.
(01:53:39):
Matt Taz Mattie Nation. Things are going to start happening
to me now.
Speaker 1 (01:53:44):
You made it.
Speaker 3 (01:53:45):
What's not funny now more?
Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
Matt Thomas now twelve forty eight, Sports Talk seven ninety.
Congratulations Joe Mixon. He was named a new team captain
by the Texans, obviously taking the spot of Stefan Digs.
(01:54:13):
I wonder if that's really what you had to do,
Ross Or that was just kind of a symbolism of, Hey,
our offensive line sucks and we can't move the ball
without you, and here's a little token of our appreciation.
Why do you have to be such a cynic Matt
Why can't Why can't Why can't The people in that
locker room love Joe Mixon.
Speaker 3 (01:54:32):
They consider him a leader, and they voted.
Speaker 2 (01:54:34):
Him captain they should have done early in the year.
Speaker 3 (01:54:36):
Then well that's what they did it with Stefan Diggs,
And now they're like, holy smokes, Joe Mixon is great.
Now they're not going to vote Kenyan Green captain, oh,
because he's on IR.
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
But otherwise he would be certainly a candidate for it.
Probably not, I don't think so, think so. Oh my goodness.
Uh yeah, I'll say this. I thought it would be
good here. I didn't think he'd be great. He's great here.
Uh yeah. I think.
Speaker 3 (01:55:11):
Generally the rule in the NFL, which has just been
you know, I mean, completely debunked this year, is that
when a running back of a certain age changes teams,
that they're done. Like even like a Dalvin Cook when
he went off, the vikings were like, okay, he's gonna
be with the Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:55:26):
He hadn't been doing anything.
Speaker 3 (01:55:27):
He's not doing anything with the Cowboys, but Dereck Henry's
dominating with the Ravens. Saquon Barkley is still one of
the most freak athletes on the planet. And Joe Mixon
is doing great here. And I feel like I'm even
missing some more. But yeah, Joe Mixon has been dominating here.
Speaker 2 (01:55:42):
And it was a guy that I don't know did
since Anni. Did they really feel the pain when he left,
or was like, you know what, we were gonna try
to get rid of him and not spend the money
because the running backs once to turn a certain age
or have certain number of experience, become you know, unable
to produce. I wonder what the if if the storyline
of him leaving the Bengals has changed since he's been
(01:56:04):
so good here, or they really regretted losing him to
begin with.
Speaker 3 (01:56:07):
I mean, Chase Brown's been really good for them, and
they signed Zack Moss, who's now and I are, and
so they trade. They traded for Khalil Herbert from the
from the Bears, who I think he got like one snap,
fumbled the ball and then that was always sold from
him last night. But I don't think they're missing no.
I mean they scored. How many points did they score
last night against the Ravens? Thirty four should have been
(01:56:28):
thirty six if they would have gotten the right call call.
At the end of the day, there their record is
a way four and six. But I don't think it's
not because Joe Mixon isn't there.
Speaker 2 (01:56:36):
I had a gut feeling of a couple of years
back that I'm not ready to give up on. Okay
t Higgins of the text, it could happen. They're gonna
need somebody. It's been hurt all year. And then he
is still a free agent, right they franchised him. They
franchised him. He still hates it. There.
Speaker 3 (01:56:58):
Jamar Chase, by the way, he should he should start
holding out tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:57:04):
Is funny.
Speaker 3 (01:57:05):
I should go back on holdout.
Speaker 2 (01:57:06):
Since ann has done a really poor job generally speaking
of keeping their star players, because the reputation of the
organization is they're just a bunch of cheap skates. I mean,
you have to spend it. I mean the problem is
how much is Joe Burrow getting paid? Taken up?
Speaker 3 (01:57:20):
I guess we let's go, let's go to the Bingles
payroll here on the Man Thomas Show, which this.
Speaker 2 (01:57:26):
This is a terrible idea that I brought up. I
apologize Houston, Texas. I mean, I'm down. T Higgins is
their second highest paid player. He's he's a franchise. Yeah,
Trey Henderson has been good.
Speaker 3 (01:57:39):
Yeah, I don't know, but they Jamar Chases is Yeah,
they need to They need to pay that dude.
Speaker 2 (01:57:47):
He's insane. And Joe Burrow's really good too. I I
just don't know if long term, if they're you know, hell,
I picked him win the AFC this year. I feel
so stupid. Six They're alive, and they're gonna need some work,
I mean some help. They've been playing better, I mean,
well they got crushed by the Eagles. They need the Chargers.
And if the Broncos to take a deep step back here,
(01:58:09):
if they just split one of those against the.
Speaker 3 (01:58:12):
Ravens, they got in two big time shootouts. If they
just put one of those, they'd be five and five
and ready to make the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:58:18):
But the one that's kicking their asses losing the Week
one game against the Patriots, oh well that really hurts. Yes,
great survivor pick. We should go back to Vegas because
you gave them a free thousand dollars, so good for you.
Speaker 3 (01:58:30):
On what hey they Circa offered. I think I get
a weekend free of rooms if you lost in the
first two weeks or three weeks or something like that.
Speaker 2 (01:58:37):
Are you serious? Absolutely? No, No, we going. I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (01:58:40):
It's not a free weekend. I think it's like two
or three nights day, but it has to be in
the weekdays. But still Circa's I mean Policia.
Speaker 2 (01:58:47):
Show from there, they got studios for us. We could
definitely do. I'm ready, although we want to do a
show at eight o'clock Pacific time after spending the night
going out and gambling and doing whatnot. I mean we could,
I guess we could drive, you know we could, oh
eight o'clock. I was just to stay up, Yeah, just
to pull it all lighter.
Speaker 9 (01:59:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:59:03):
Basically, you should get you a couple of bumps and
then you'll be ready to go.
Speaker 2 (01:59:06):
Maddie, get a couple of what bumps? What are those?
Speaker 4 (01:59:11):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:59:11):
Coffee? SIPs of coffee? Is that? What is that? What
the I always think the Las Vegas bumps a different
bump than you get in Houston. Yeah, it's out there.
Speaker 3 (01:59:19):
It's different from those Summer Creek speed bumps.
Speaker 2 (01:59:23):
Oh my god. Great masterful job on the editing, by
the way of Connor. If you missed our ten o'clock
and twelve o'clock open, Connor did some fancy editing and
it absolutely works. I have the problem with us with
our audio being completely manipulated. I'm not on board with this.
It's ok.
Speaker 3 (01:59:39):
You could get us saying basically a do you think
you want at some point?
Speaker 2 (01:59:42):
That's well, it isn't AI doing that for us already? Yeah,
that's true.
Speaker 3 (01:59:45):
People don't know. We've been doing this show on AI
for six weeks now.
Speaker 2 (01:59:48):
Have we really? All right? Uh, let me tell you
what we got coming up in the next hour. If
you missed our visit with Dan Miller, he's the voice
of the Lions. We're gonna play some of that coming
up at A one twenty today. A good conversation and
you're gonna hear Ross doing a commercial in the middle
of it. And that was purely by accident. Oh yeah,
I did.
Speaker 3 (02:00:06):
My finger must have slipped or something. I'm so sorry.
Can we clip that out now?
Speaker 2 (02:00:11):
I think we should do it and then just say,
this is where the point we're ros screwed up? I do.
I don't know what I did. I'm sorry. We're gonna
try it out.
Speaker 3 (02:00:18):
He literally was about to call Connor a liar, but
he was like, no, you're you're Mike.
Speaker 2 (02:00:22):
Was no, Well, we will let it that part out. Oh,
we have non Florida stories today at one thirty. Where's
your non Florida story from? By the way, did be
outside of this state of Florida? Man? Okay, right, good?
Speaker 3 (02:00:30):
When's that coming up? What's believing on? Oh my goodness,
what have you been doing?
Speaker 2 (02:00:35):
Spots? So basically you've you've been making all this revenue. Uh,
never never let your focus ever change.
Speaker 3 (02:00:53):
It's I told you. I told you this is worse
when you're on the road.
Speaker 2 (02:00:57):
There shouldn't be. I'm right here with you. I've been
here the whole. No, you're not here. We want you
to come with me on the road for a couple
of road trips on the city Detroit.
Speaker 3 (02:01:06):
When happen, I'm gonna sweat, yeah, I mean pass on
that roady okay, see Detroit.
Speaker 2 (02:01:12):
Yikes. By the way, my non forest story is coming
from Wisconsin today, so you'll have it for you at
at one thirty this afternoon. It is weird looking, and
we got a couple people on Twitter and acknowledge it.
It's different for us too. This is not our normal.
We've had a few time slots. This is the weirdest
of the group. Right ten to two. I've done morning drive,
(02:01:33):
We've done like late afternoon. We started eleven done at noon.
So we're we're working our way through. We're gonna be
significantly better next week than we were this week. We're
just kind of caught off guard by this week. So
I'll be I promise I won't let you down. Ross.
I feel like it's gonna be probably give me the
same machake.
Speaker 3 (02:01:49):
Can you come over and make me breakfast in the morning,
get me ready to go?
Speaker 2 (02:01:52):
So we're quick. We got thirty seconds here, So to
explain to the audience, you are definitely not a morning person.
Speaker 3 (02:01:58):
I'm a night out from a like a night owl
family tree, like my both of my parents, my sister brother.
Speaker 5 (02:02:04):
We are all.
Speaker 2 (02:02:06):
I don't know what it is. It's just I need
a lot of sleep and I'm a night owl. So
essentially what you do is you go to bed at
say two o'clock in the morning. Well, you can't do
that anymore.
Speaker 3 (02:02:18):
I always say, in a perfect world, I need thirty
hour days because my brain likes to stay up for
twenty hours and then I need like ten hours of sleep,
So I need thirty hour days. The sun could slow down,
they'd be great. I mean, the the the Earth's spinning
could slow down, they'd be great.
Speaker 2 (02:02:32):
Okay, So now you're getting up and having a full breakfast. No,
I haven't done that yet. And you've only how many
cups of coffee behead so far today? Today?
Speaker 3 (02:02:40):
I've only had uh, A couple of cups of tea
and some and a monster.
Speaker 2 (02:02:46):
Okay, you're all jacked up. I love it. It's not great.
Why is it? Jones is up being snarky today? What
have I said? Snark snarky every day? Maddie. I was
gonna say, what's the different? I don't think I've ever
been any different? On this all right, final hour of
the radio program coming up in a matter of moment
seven one three, two, one two five seven Ninty Snarky
(02:03:10):

Big City Wings and Big Citywings dot Com your place
to hang out tonight for half price apps and football.
Saturday and Sunday it's Big City Wings lunchtimers. This is
(02:04:17):
the Matt Thomas Show. It is our final hour of
the week on Sports Talk seven ninety with Ross. I'm Matt.
I'm here in Oklahoma City Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Tonight we'll have the pregame show beginning at six thirty,
launch pad at six, and we'll tip it off shortly
past seven o'clock here from Oklahoma City. Sunday, it'll be
the Rockets in Detroit to take on the Pistons. Meanwhile,
(02:04:38):
the Lines will be down in Houston to take on
the Texans for a seven to twenty kickoff. Nicocollins at
practice today. He has been cleared, was off of the
injury reserve list and designated to practice. Doesn't necessarily mean
he's going to play on Sunday, But if you're just
a social media consumer, there's a lot of excitement coming
off of the Texans Twitter count that shows Nico dancing around,
(02:05:00):
feeling good, ready to go. Who the hell knows, And again,
maybe they'll keep this super super tight until they have to,
and maybe we'll wait till Saturday. But at least he's
off the injured list, at least the hamstring looks like
And again we're going off of just a couple of
photos in which the Texan and the media department sends
out to the internet. He's ready to play and that's
(02:05:24):
going to be a good thing, especially with Stefan Diggs
being gone. Can the Texans move the ball with Nico
Collins and would Tank de Will be in the one
to two combination? Absolutely? Will they have issues Sunday doing it?
If if Tank Dell's the main go to guy. Now,
Tank was the main go to guy last week against
the Jets and it worked out well. Question is ROSSI
(02:05:46):
is anybody else going to mean it? Says Hutchison, take
the opportunity here? Does Dalton Schultz kind of step up?
He's had a disappointing season. I'm surprised that tight end
spot overall has not been more productive offensive than it's
been so far this year. We would have liked to
seen more from Dalton Schultz, for sure.
Speaker 3 (02:06:04):
I think he has the targets in the yards and
all that have ticked up, but he still doesn't have
a touchdown. Although Adulton Schultz fan number one, I believe
had a gut feeling that he's gonna get his first
touchdown this weekend. That would be nice. I think, obviously
it would be huge having Nico Collins back. I don't
think it's gonna happen. John Matchie has been getting a
little bit open and then he was missed a couple
(02:06:25):
of times. But you know, it's not like he's Stefan
Diggs and he's not going to be It's gonna take
it takes a village, Matt. It's like you know in Moneyball,
when they're like, oh, we're losing. Who is the player
that they were losing? I can't even remember.
Speaker 4 (02:06:37):
It was a.
Speaker 3 (02:06:40):
What was that guy with the brother or brother and
he went to the Yankees and he got busted for steroids.
Speaker 2 (02:06:44):
Oh, Johnby, Johnby.
Speaker 4 (02:06:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:06:46):
It's like, okay, we're not gonna be able to We're
not gonna be able to make up Stefan Diggs production
in one player. What you have to do is a
little bit of Xavier Hutchson. It's a little bit, a
little bit of Dalton Schultz, a little bit of John Matchi.
So you have to do it as it concline as
this different spots are going to be open on the field,
be aware of those spots, and then of course more
(02:07:07):
Tank Dell as well, which is so far what you've
been getting.
Speaker 2 (02:07:09):
You know, what's interesting to me, Ross is that last
year At the start of the twenty twenty three season,
it was wildy regarded that the Houston Texans had the
worst running wide receiver corps in the league, right twenty
nine to thirty. Yes, then Nico Collins takes this super jump.
Then Tank Dell becomes this third round surprise and is
(02:07:31):
really good until he gets hurt. Then you add those
two guys to adding Stefan Diggs through the tray with Buffalo,
and I would say the consensus was that Texans would have, say,
at least at the bare minimum, a top ten receiving group.
Mm hmm. You fast forward to Nico being gone for
a while, you fast forward to Stefan Diggs missing now
(02:07:54):
the rest of the season, and it feels more like
who's going to step up as compared to it's an
environment of riches right now for the Texans receivers.
Speaker 3 (02:08:04):
Yeah, it's been it's been a precipitous fall. And you
brought it up, so I kind of I just googled
and Pro Football Focus and June did do a receiving
core ranking list. They had the Texans fifth. Wow, Niners, Dolphins, Eagles, Bears, Texans,
I mean they like that sounds about right.
Speaker 5 (02:08:24):
To me.
Speaker 2 (02:08:25):
Yeah, but it's interesting because we're sitting here getting ready
for this game on Sunday and we're trying to figure out, well,
can they'll do it by himself? And he almost did
it by himself last week. Yeah, he was great.
Speaker 3 (02:08:40):
He got the fifty yard catch, he was downfield. I mean,
he got a lot of what did he get was
it six catches or whatever? For over one hundred and
twenty yards. Yeah, he's been getting a lot of targets.
He's going to get a lot of targets. He is
their biggest difference maker. So however Adam and Adam want
to argue about it, he's their wr one.
Speaker 2 (02:08:57):
Uh oh are they doing that this week again? I
don't know. By the way, I need a ruling on
wide receivers in general. Okay, this is not just the Texans,
it's everybody in the NFL. Every time I shouldn't say
every time, many times a wide receiver in the NFL
catches a ball gets the first down. As soon as
(02:09:18):
he gets up, he points to other direction to indicate
first down. Everybody in their mother is doing it right now.
Speaker 3 (02:09:25):
The Texans do the they kind of spin, they do
a whirling thing and then they go first down. They
do a couple of around the worlds with their fingers pointed,
and then they do a first down. That's their thing
they've been doing, so it's.
Speaker 2 (02:09:40):
Not for me to decide how you motivate yourself and
how to motivate the fans and motivate your teammates. That's
what everybody does. I mean, everybody has to motivate themselves
in different ways. But I'm noticing a trend of every
time a receiver gets a first down, it's not hand
the ball back to the official. It's not high five
minute teammate, it's not running back to the huddle to
(02:10:02):
get back going. It's I gotta show you I got
that first down. I don't know if it's a bad
thing or a good thing. It just feels like it's
been more excessive than anything else.
Speaker 3 (02:10:13):
I don't like it when they do that. When when
players do that and they're down like twenty one, it's like, yes.
Speaker 2 (02:10:18):
You have to kind of all the time and space.
I congratulations, Like it was like a third and twelve
and it's a big time catch. I'm all for it.
Speaker 3 (02:10:26):
I like it a lot better then. Feels like time
in a place you're down twenty one and there's six
minutes left in the game, Like, get back in the huddle.
Speaker 2 (02:10:34):
Yeah. It almost feels like to me, if you just
did it once or twice, it wouldn't be that big
of a deal. Same thing with these interception celebrations where
they go and they pretend they're bowling pins. If you're
down twenty one to six.
Speaker 3 (02:10:48):
Hey you gotta have fun, matty. Oh yeah, if you're
down twenty one to see or yeah, the other team
has put like thirty five on you and the like
the running you didn't even cut force the fumble. There
was an exchange between the quarterback and the running back
and they dropped it, and you're acting like you just
forced this great turnover, Like come.
Speaker 2 (02:11:06):
On, yeah, and I love you know our buddy Whitney merciless,
he would do the air guitar stuff and the team
was downing three touchdowns or this is a good one.
Kamari Lassiter has been doing this, like he gets blown
by on coverage and then the quarterback underthrows it and
this is every dB.
Speaker 3 (02:11:23):
I'm not trying to call it. Kamara last year, he gets.
Speaker 2 (02:11:25):
Like they get blown by on coverage, a double move
they're like ten yards behind, but the quarterback underthrows it
and all of a sudden it falls to the ground
and they're like, yeah, incomplete. They do a little incomplete
symbol or or like fold their arms and kind of
roll their shoulders like they get their fingers out and
on me. Yeah, it's like, my guy, you were you
(02:11:46):
were burnt toast on that play. Come on, we're watching
the same game you're playing, and we know exactly what happened.
I have eyeballs.
Speaker 3 (02:11:53):
I saw him ten yards in front of you and
then the quarterback underthrew it.
Speaker 2 (02:11:58):
That's right. What I will say is I do like
you know, for the longest time the NFL was hammering
players for celebrating. At least they'll letting these guys have
some fun now. So I'd rather there'd be too much
than none at all. I'd rather I'm glad that you
can do the dance moves in the end zone, or
(02:12:18):
you can pretend you guys are bowling pins. That gives
me a little bit of it shows the game is
still fun. Where if you did that ten years ago, Rosh,
you were flagged immediately. The NFL has really backed off
on it. The only time they ever throw a flag
is if you do it in front of an opponent's
face or right in front of their sideline er, you know,
something to be antagonistic. There's a difference between going to
(02:12:38):
the end zone and goofing around and taking photos fake photos,
as compared to you know, going to the fifty yard
line and stopping on it and having George t come
over there and try to kick your ass.
Speaker 3 (02:12:48):
They've done some weak ones, though, I think like when
when Stefan Diggs scored a touchdown against the Patriots and
he kind of spun the ball at kind of near
Christian Gonzalez his feet, it was like in his general direction,
and he got a taunting penalty.
Speaker 2 (02:13:01):
I thought that was weak. Yeah, but I would say
generally speaking, it's been a lot they've They've given you
a lot more liberties because there was a time where
you couldn't do anything or you were getting flagged right,
And honestly, these officials have so much to worry about.
Just get the calls right, like calling face mask in overtime.
I'm all for eliminating the taunting penalty in general. Well,
(02:13:22):
I wouldn't say that. I think if you do it
too much and you try to do it to show
somebody up, then that's going to cause fights, and that's
the last thing. The NFL well, then throw them out
for fighting. So you're saying, if you taunt and a
fight starts, just just skip skip the preamble, go right
to the main thing. Yeah, what do you mean, Like
(02:13:44):
like you're saying, because the the taunt the flag is
to is to prevent the fights. The NFL throws the
toss it to prevent fights. I think they prevent it.
Speaker 3 (02:13:53):
But just because they're like, oh they're they're they're not
conducting themselves a sportsman. I think it's these old fogy
owners who are really pushing the taunting thing the last
couple of years.
Speaker 2 (02:14:04):
That was a story that came out. I can't remember
who wrote it, an old FOGY owner. I imagine that.
Speaker 12 (02:14:10):
It's funny.
Speaker 2 (02:14:10):
You don't in twenty twenty four, you don't say that
young bright, energetic, young guy running things not usually like
they're all like seventy five years old was smoking jackets.
Speaker 3 (02:14:22):
On unless his dad croaked and he inherited the team,
that's pretty much, yeah, not gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (02:14:28):
I don't know what you're thinking about there.
Speaker 3 (02:14:32):
Well, those guys are the youngest NFL owner, I don't
even know.
Speaker 2 (02:14:35):
Oh my god, well cow's in his sixties. I mean,
youngest NFL owner. What about I would say, I think
the owner of the of the Broncos got to be
in his fifties. Who's the new owner of the Commanders?
Is that guy? Is that guy young?
Speaker 4 (02:14:54):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (02:14:55):
I think he is.
Speaker 3 (02:14:57):
John Harris. He's fifty nine.
Speaker 2 (02:14:59):
That's what a young relatively speaking?
Speaker 3 (02:15:01):
That Arkhan is the youngest. He but he inherited the team.
Speaker 2 (02:15:07):
Hell Mark Davis we said was in his mid sixties yesterday.
I remember we're talking about him. Michael Bidwell of the Cardinals.
That's hint taken him dad. That was an inheritance, right, Yeah.
Brian Glazer of the Buccaneers inherited from Malcolm his dad.
Speaker 3 (02:15:23):
And then the next youngest, fifth youngest is Steve Bescatti Baltimore,
Ravens and Hollow.
Speaker 2 (02:15:29):
Is he sixty four? Yeah? So basically the rule is
you got to you know, first of all, how many
billionaires are thirty three? Unless again, you inherited it from
your father. That's right, That's right, all right, let's check
it in Detroit next. We'll do that one fourteen is
our time. It is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.
We've got the non Florida stories coming up in about
fifteen minutes and hell yeah or not in about thirty
(02:15:51):
five here on Sports Talk seven ninety. If you are
worried about the temperature changing, the wins, the problems we
may have come winter two time when it comes to
your trees, I want you to call Affordable Tree Service

last time that your trees were pruned and evaluated for
overall health, I want you to please call Affordable Tree

Speaker 1 (02:17:03):
Matt Thomas returns on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (02:17:09):
Had a chance earlier today to catch up with the
voice of the Detroit Lions, Dan Miller. He works for
the Fox News affiliate in Detroit, but also calls their games,
and we've talked about a variety of things that will
be I think good for you guys, including talking about
how excited Detroit is for this team, probably the closest
they've ever been to being a Super Bowl contender. We
(02:17:30):
also discussed Dan Campbell and that Lions secondary, especially if
Nico Collins. We don't know if he's gonna play, but
if he does, how they prepare for it. Here again
is my visit with the voice Dan Miller of the
Detroit Lions about what it's like to be calling games
for a team that might be headed to their first
ever Vince Lombardi game.
Speaker 5 (02:17:50):
Really at the end of twenty twenty two, when they
went the eight out of ten to close the season,
and then camp right back last year started the season
with the winning Kansas City to night they on the banner.
You started to believe there was something happening here, that
that was real. And then to see them win the
division last year, something they hadn't done in thirty years,
to beat the Rams, to beat the Bucks, to get
(02:18:11):
the NFC Championship game, and basically thirty minutes away from
a super Bowl. You understand what they've got. And I
think the most impressive thing about it, Matt, is that
it's built on a firm foundation with young players that
are developing and getting better. Whereas in the past we've
seen maybe a Lions team that got to the playoffs
(02:18:31):
and it looked like it was just kind of you know,
put together with Stixon glue, had a chance, but nothing
really that was gonna last. So yeah, it's exciting. They're
legitimately good. They are are playing great football right now.
They've endured some injuries, but it's I think the most
that that Lions fans have been able to sink their
(02:18:53):
teeth into in a long long time.
Speaker 2 (02:18:56):
Let me ask you this to go back to your
memory banks, a little bit if you don't mind. The
day that Matthew Stafford gets moved to Los Angeles in
return for Jared Goff. The reaction to Detroit sports fans,
people that cover the team, guys like yourself, is saying,
what are we doing here? Or was it time for
Matthew to go? And then fast forward to now about
the development of Golf as a quarterback while wearing the
(02:19:18):
Lions gear.
Speaker 5 (02:19:20):
Yeah, completely respectful of Matthew. It was time to go.
They just needed to turn the page.
Speaker 2 (02:19:27):
Now.
Speaker 5 (02:19:27):
The acquisition of Jared Goff, I don't think a lot
of us thought that he was going to be the
long term quarterback in Detroit. I thought there was a chance.
I knew they had to rehabilitate him, and I'd seen
him take a team, you know, into the playoffs and
into a Super Bowl, and he had done some good things.
But he had just fallen. It seemed so far off
(02:19:49):
the map at LA and they had lost faith in
him and certainly seemed like they were just shipping him out.
But I will say this, the guys that believed that
he could be the Lions next started quarterback for the
long term, where the general manager Brad Holmes and his
assistant general manager Ray Agnew, both of whom were in
LA when they drafted him, and both of whom were
(02:20:11):
part of the Rams organization that saw him play his
best football out there. So while I think the widespread
view was he's a placeholder, he's a bridge quarterback, I
think they felt like this guy, with the right team
around him, can be the starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions.
And I think that belief has been born out, and
(02:20:33):
Jared is now playing the best football of his career
and really put together a one month stretch here that
you could throw some numbers up there that no quarterback
in NFL history has ever put together in terms of
completion percentage, quarterback rating and getting through a tough five
week stretch here that we looked at at the beginning
of the year and thought, man, that's going to be
(02:20:54):
probably the most difficult part of their schedule, and he's been.
Speaker 2 (02:20:57):
At his Bestan Miller, the voice of the Lions, with
us here on a Sports Talk seven, Andy coming to
you from Oklahoma City. You do a weekly second with
Dan and Campbell. We obviously only get sound bites and whatnot. Obviously,
the guys love him, the city loves him. He's a
typical of the typical coach speaker we'll see around the
(02:21:18):
NFL circles. But take us into your world a little bit.
You get a chance to talk with him on I'm
assuming several times during the week, whether it's on television
or radio. Give me some things about him that maybe
the average fan in Houston, Texas watching the Lions from
a distance wouldn't know about him.
Speaker 5 (02:21:33):
You know, start with this. He's a great person. I mean,
he's got a good heart. He means well in everything
that he does. He cares about other people. And I've
been doing this long enough to know that not all
coaches are like that. They can get caught up in
their own little world and it is about what they're
doing and not worrying about anybody else. He's a heck
(02:21:55):
of a person. I think that's that's where you start
with him. His wife's out ending, he's got a great family,
and I think that's that's kind of what permeates everything
he does. There's a consistency to him. He's the exact
same person if you're sitting on the couch talking to
him doing in an interview as if you were drinking
(02:22:15):
a beer in the corner as if you were spending
any time with him. He doesn't change. I've not seen
him lose his temper ever in a press conference. I've
not seen him ever let somebody get under his skin.
He just he has an ability to kind of go
with the flow. And I think the players appreciate. They
appreciate the consistency. They appreciate the honesty, They appreciate always
(02:22:38):
knowing where they stand.
(02:22:59):
seen a lot of press conferences here because unfortunately we've
changed a lot of coaches, with the Lions, with the Tigers,
with the Pistons, with.
Speaker 2 (02:23:05):
The red Wings.
Speaker 5 (02:23:06):
That was the best introductory press conference I'd ever seen
because he said the things that people needed to hear.
And it wasn't blowing smoke, it wasn't just blue skies.
It was about what the vision was what it was
going to take, and I think it resonated with people
right away. But he just has an infectious, charismatic personality
(02:23:29):
that I think people liked, I think players liked, and
it has been perfect for Detroit.
Speaker 2 (02:23:36):
Dan Aiden Hutchinson's leg injury was gruesome, sad for a
lot of Detroit Lions fans, like, what it's going to happen.
Now you lose one of the best defensive players in
the games. Zadarius Smith comes in the trade. First of all,
what do you know about Zadarius except on the opposite
side calling games against the Browns? And then what's his
availability for Sunday?
Speaker 5 (02:23:53):
Do you think, Yeah, I think that's up in the air.
I think there's a chance you won't play. I think
they are coggins of the fact that this was his
bye week and he stayed in Cleveland, and he's a
thirty two year old guy who, if he played, would
be on schedule for eighteen games, and I think they
are cognizant of the fact that he might need a
little downtime before he jumps in there. They gave him
(02:24:16):
some time to go back home and get everything in order,
and he just came back today. So Obviously it's gonna
be a crash course in the playbook. If he plays,
it'll be a limited snap count. Look, here's what I
know about him, and he's been in the NFC North,
so we've seen him for quite some time. He's thirty
two years old, so he's not what he was when
he was twenty six. But he still can provide something
(02:24:38):
that they desperately need, and that's an ability to get
after the quarterback. Because when Aiden went down and Marcus
Davenport went down and Derek Barnes went down, you know,
they lost three of their best edge guys and John
Kaminski was another guy that went down for them earlier
this year in training camp, so they really needed something.
And he walks in the door as their best edge rusher.
(02:25:02):
So again, don't know if he's gonna play this week.
Josh Pascal will be back. He's a former second round
pick that I know they're hoping is going to be
able to take some steps this year and help them out.
But it is a question mark, Matt about this team
and what they're going to be able to accomplish if
they can't get that pass rush going, because it's been
a problem even the last couple of weeks when we've
(02:25:24):
played some quarterbacks. You know, Jordan Love wasn't one hundred percent,
Mason Rudolph isn't top of the line when it comes
to NFL starters, but they get a lot of time
back there, and it's hard to survive in this league
if you're not at least impacting the pass or somehow.
Speaker 2 (02:25:38):
Lastly, Dan, as you and I are speaking, the Texans
have activated Nico Collins and put him on the off
of the injured reserve list. He can now open to
practice today. So that's gonna be a very encouraging sign
for Texans fans. Tell me what the Lions secondary will
be like if indeed Nico Collins and Tank Dell are
the main two guys that c aj Strong can throw
to on Sunday.
Speaker 5 (02:26:00):
Yeah, their secondary is a lot better. They got two
guys playing great at safety right now. Kirby Joseph and
Brian Branch are two of the highest rated safeties if
you look at PFF or one of those sites. They've
been outstanding. And Terry and Arnold, the rookie first round pick,
has gotten better. Carlton Davis, a veteran, has been a
great ad for them. A Meek Robertson, a veteran that
(02:26:23):
they signed as a free agent, has been solid as
a nickel. So look, their secondary is good. It's worlds
better than it was last year. But again, I think
the equalizer is if you can't pressure Stroud into throwing
the ball maybe a little bit before he wants to,
or at least force him to get it out of there.
And he's got a lot of time back there. A
(02:26:43):
lot of quarterbacks in this league are gonna pick you apart,
and he's certainly one of them. So that's one of
the things I'm watching in this game. Look, we saw
what happened last time out against the Jets. He got
roughed up that offensive line, in particular in the middle
where the Lions do you have some strength with DJ
Reeder and Alee McNeil. Houston has been vulnerable there, so
the Lions have to find a way to impact him
(02:27:05):
or else he can, you know, make these receivers into
big play guys, and that can be problematic for Detroit.
So I think if you're looking at this game, that's
something to keep an eye on. Is Detroit getting a
pass rush or is Houston able to function offensively with
Stroud kind of having time back there and if that
is that that's problematic for Detroit.
Speaker 2 (02:27:25):
And again our thanks to Dan mullarg from Fox Too
in Detroit and also the radio voice of the Detroit
Lions joining us here on the show. Let's get to
some non Florida stories next. We'll do that at one
thirty one here on Sports Talk seven and we'll play

twenty minutes. Right now, I want to tell you about

Speaker 7 (02:28:41):
We find interesting stories that here outside.
Speaker 2 (02:28:46):
The state of Florida and share them with the people
of hust.
Speaker 5 (02:28:55):
It's time for Florida.
Speaker 2 (02:29:02):
I'll time for Florida store on the coast to coast.
We'll breaking strange and wild.
Speaker 5 (02:29:20):
No alligator exales, but something that will make you smile.
Speaker 2 (02:29:28):
It's time for last from far and wild in this
crazy world, there's nowhere all right Here we go with
time down for non Florida stories, which changings up a
(02:29:50):
little bit. Connor you will go first today on non
Florida stories. Oh yeah, I'm ready to go. Hold on
one second.
Speaker 6 (02:29:57):
We get say I'm ready to go and then hold
on one second. Okay, those two statements conflict.
Speaker 3 (02:30:02):
When have I ever gone first.
Speaker 2 (02:30:05):
Today? Today? Off a little way.
Speaker 3 (02:30:08):
Adam Klan is in here and he is wearing a
pricey Rockets jacket. As we all predicted, there's zero stunner
on that bad war.
Speaker 2 (02:30:15):
All right, I'll go.
Speaker 10 (02:30:16):
In New York, man Mark Longo, age thirty four, rescued
a squirrel named Peanut and a raccoon named Fred and
turned them into social media stars, amassing hundreds of thousands
of followers by filming videos with his beloved pets in
his home. However, the Department of Environmental Conservation received anonymous
complaints about Peanut and Fred and brought at least six
(02:30:36):
officers to raid Longo's home, and they took the squirrel
and raccoon and the animals were eventually euthanized.
Speaker 2 (02:30:43):
This was a huge story earlier this week.
Speaker 10 (02:30:45):
With a Department of Environmental Conservation having to answer questions
constantly about Fred and Peanuts. Blongo was aware that it
is against New York state law to own a wild
animal without a license, but he was in the process
of filing paperwork to get Peanut certified as an educational animal.
Speaker 3 (02:31:00):
So Peanut and Fred social media stars, gone too soon.
Speaker 2 (02:31:04):
Peanut the squirrel the names of that's the name of
the squirrel. And Fred the raccoon. Fred the raccoon dead
home rated.
Speaker 3 (02:31:14):
It seems like a good use of government resources. Find
some harmless rootkie of raccoon and squirrel and have them euthanized.
Speaker 2 (02:31:24):
They put on a YouTube channel or no they didn't euthanize. No,
not the euthanization. Yeah, what at least shake things up?
What kind of sick human being are you? Man? You
want to see a raccoon put to death? You make
me sick.
Speaker 3 (02:31:38):
Speaking of sick, I have this first Sambe and now
Peanut I know, and uh, what was the other one?
Speaker 2 (02:31:47):
Oh? The oh you're talking about the ape.
Speaker 3 (02:31:50):
Yeah, you don't remember Harambe getting shot to death.
Speaker 2 (02:31:53):
There was a lot of coverage on that. There was
a lot of coverage, probably way too much. All right,
Rosa go second. Okay, you ever been to famous Yeti's
Pizza in Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (02:32:06):
No, I have not been to famous Yeti's are Yeti's
known for making good pizza.
Speaker 2 (02:32:10):
I didn't know this. One of the cooks was looking
to make a batch of dough and he grabbed the
wrong oil to make this batch of dough. Explain, this
batch of dough was going to make sixty pizzas, in
which it did, and unfortunately there was something in the
(02:32:32):
oil that was grabbed that was not part of the
essential baking ingredients that to make successful pizza dough. What
was in this contaminated oil THC?
Speaker 3 (02:32:46):
Oh, so they're sails it through the roof the after that.
Speaker 2 (02:32:49):
For those that don't know, THC is a form of marijuana.
Speaker 3 (02:32:54):
It's a chemical in marijuana, the psychoactive or I don't
even know whatever.
Speaker 2 (02:32:59):
Yeah, it's legal and Wisconsin, but products such as THC
derived from the hemp plant are legal. Health officials said
the olden question could be used to make everything from
cookies to condiments. So apparently a bunch of people ordered
pizza from this famous Yettes Pizza in Dane County, Wisconsin,
and several people apparently were several dozens of people were
(02:33:22):
sick because of this. Now you say this was a
there's no way this was an accident. Health officials said
they have received dozens of reports of people who recently
got sick from the pizza and are still taking reports.
THC related symptoms can include dizziness, increased blood pressure, vomiting, anxiety, paranoid,
and elucidation. So it looks like the was in hungry
(02:33:45):
in hunger. Oh well, Apparently this is a bad idea.
Who was doing this?
Speaker 3 (02:33:50):
Children ate the pizza? I didn't say the age is
on this, No, I'm reading. I went to Public Health
Madison in Dane County, and it's saying that children as
you as young as one years old. Oh no, First
of all, a one year old eating pizza.
Speaker 2 (02:34:07):
No, you're not supposed to feed a one year old pizza.
There's no way unless they're guming it.
Speaker 3 (02:34:13):
H unless you're doing like a like a motherbird. You
chew it and then you spit it in the in
the baby's mouth.
Speaker 2 (02:34:20):
The owner of famous Yetti's Pizza, Kale Ryan, said, quote,
they really got stoned, wouldn't it. Hmmm, they got intoxicated
from the THHC. So I think it's more alarming than
anything to feel that way. It's basically at eating an
edible but without knowing. Now, if you bake the pizza oil,
(02:34:40):
that's not like smoking or burning it off.
Speaker 3 (02:34:43):
I'm we need a scientist on this. Does it still
have the same effects? I guess you bake it in
cookies and it works, so yeah, I guess it would.
Speaker 2 (02:34:54):
These are questions that will require additional research from yourself.
I think I can get some hands on research going.
Let me get it to whistle. Just be careful to
oil you putting your dough. That's all. That's the that's
there's no way that was an accident. Gobble, gobble. I
don't even know what to say. Now, there's no way
(02:35:15):
that could have been done accidentally. No, you don't accidentally.
You're not trying to grab a bottle of olive oil.
Well where did this oil? How do this oil get
put in the in the restaurant to begin with? It's
what I want to know.
Speaker 3 (02:35:25):
It was somebody who's some stoner brought it. I guess
they thought they were going to be funny and serve
a bunch of people up some weed pizza.
Speaker 2 (02:35:33):
But I mean, do you think this guy was like,
it's also a waste of money? Yeah, why would you
get you you don't want to No, I don't think
it was an an intentionally, I don't want to.
Speaker 3 (02:35:43):
I don't want to search how much THC oil costs
on my work laptop. So maybe you can do that
for him, then you you can do that for us, Matt.
But it seems like a waste of money.
Speaker 2 (02:35:55):
Yeah, so well, thankfully nobody is I mean, they got
stone and probably vomited. That's probably as bad as a god, hopefully.
But first of all, there's no way a one year
old's and knock and back of pepperoni with the mushroom pizza.
Speaker 3 (02:36:07):
Hm, I mean Stoner's and pizza is a classic combo, Matt.
It's true fasht time as a Ridgemont High they brought
a pizza to class. I missed that, but I only
saw I've only seen one scene of that movie.
Speaker 2 (02:36:21):
Oh, I bet I know which one it was. It
is a good scene, and those weren't hers, I don't think.
Just saying that, and that's my non Flora story. Thank you, Matt.
Where they are we done? Do we have time for mine?
I don't even know if we have time? Hurry quickly
(02:36:43):
go uh oh I lost it? Oh wait a minute,
where did it go? Yes?
Speaker 3 (02:36:49):
Some monkeys have escaped, Matt. Forty three monkeys have escaped
a South Carolina research facility. Police warned residents to secure
doors and windows. This is in Beaufort County, South Carolina.
Forty three primates have broken loose from the Alpha Genesis facility,
whatever that is. This sounds like to start to a
(02:37:11):
horror movie. Ya, MASSI Police Department is trying to locate
and capture the monkeys.
Speaker 2 (02:37:21):
Isn't there a song with George Michael with where is
your Monkey? I don't know? Okay how many monkeys were gone?
Speaker 3 (02:37:31):
I think he was acutely aware of where all his
monkeys were.
Speaker 2 (02:37:34):
Yeah, okay, that's enough. The man's dead. Let's go may rest.
How many monkeys all together?
Speaker 3 (02:37:40):
Forty three monkeys are on the loose in South Carolina?
Speaker 2 (02:37:43):
When's the lost time we saw forty three monkeys in
one sitting?
Speaker 3 (02:37:48):
The CEO of Alpha Genesis said, quote being goofy monkeys
jumping back and forth, playing with each other.
Speaker 2 (02:37:53):
It's a playground situation. But the monkeys are kind of
being chill about it. So far, it looks like hopefully
they can be found.
Speaker 3 (02:38:05):
Do you know where all your monkeys are at?
Speaker 2 (02:38:08):
I don't carry any monkeys with me.
Speaker 3 (02:38:10):
