Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Head one at h Town.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Good morning, and.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Welcome to a Tuesday edition of The Matt Matt Thomas
Show with Ross alongside our producer Jonathan Allen.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
I'm Matt. Ross is to my right.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
He's wiping down the microphones and other things around there
because Dan sounds like hell and uh, bringing his germs
all over that microphone number one over there.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I'm great.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
You can ever be too cautious. I got a lot
of vacation time coming up. I just came off of vacation,
so I don't want to miss too much time with you. You
don't want to be sick. So you've missed. Yeah, you
missed quite a been a time the last few weeks.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Some of the if you're choosing and some of it
not so much as your choosing, But that's underd in
are there, Rossie? How the hell are you see? You're trying.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
You're putting stuff on a tea for me and I'm
just gonna step away from the tea.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
It's fine.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
We do this to each other and paying for your
golf and you're not gonna swim. It's part of our
loving relationship. I'm doing great, Matthew, you want to Tuesday.
It's good to be back getting into the swing of things.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I actually got a little bit of sleep last night,
so I'm feeling good.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
As I've said before, and I don't want to get
into a deep conversation about it. If I could eliminate
my dreams, I'd be in a much better place.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah, I think. Yeah, I think you got some psychological
issues you need addressed that could be going on, whether
or not I'm dreaming or not. But I just would
like nothing but just I want dead space in my head.
That's good.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Well, yeah, you need to clear your mind. People think
I have dead space in my head when I'm all wake. Yeah,
between the ears, that's right. Maybe just start meditating, man,
It's it's been a great help for me. I would
recommend it on the radio program again. I don't think
we're gonna going to do a deep dive on the
Dallas destroying the Raiders last night.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
I did watch it gentye at about four yards I think.
And he'll never get to twelve hundred in his whole career.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Ever, you said a thousand, No, I think I said,
you ain't got nothing, all right, But Yeah, they're bad.
Pete Carroll, could you see him leaving after this year? Yeah,
I'm seventy three, I've made a lot of money. I've
played for national championships, I'm taking teams in the super Bowl.
It's go retire. I just think it's too much work.

(02:15):
I'm not saying that he go to and to hang
out for a couple of weeks. Yeah, I'm not saying
his mindset can't do it. It's just it's when you
are starting it from scratch and your general manager traded
for Genosmith thinking that was gonna be the answer.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
You know.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
I know Derek Carr wasn't great for them the last
couple of years, but my goodness, yeah, well it was
only I think Aidan O'Connell was about their only option
at that point, so they tried to do something. But
I honestly, I'm gonna be I'm gonna be honest. I
like the Genal Smith move. I thought he was decent.
He's been terrible. Yeah, But the thing that got me
hold curious was that Seattle went and got Sam Donald,

(02:50):
who had two horrendous ending games to.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
His season last year and this year.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Seattle played really well earlier in the year, including a
game against the Texans, and then he's had two straight
bag games. So people in Seattle a kind of wigging
out about what they're expecting from San darl The reality
is this just finding great quarterbacks. It's so difficult, yes,
and if you got it, just be very thankful that

(03:16):
you do. That's why tying into our conversation about CJ.
Stroud yesterday and with the caller saying, I don't think
he's the guy, like he might not be, but he
might be, which is why the Texans are going to
sign him to big money and try to keep him.
It's so hard to find competent quarterback. Funny you brought
that up because some friends of mine were listening to
the show yesterday and they're like, hey, you guys had

(03:38):
a good conversation.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
I was just said, we do that every day, tended
to do. But let's tell me is this.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
We were having a quasi debate about this, yeah, and
I frankly can see both sides of our debate. But
I was with two people at a dinner last night,
John McClean, No, John McLean was not one of them,
and they were like, Ross made all the sense in
the world m HM NFL that you have, Like they
didn't say Ross was an idiot, Well that's that's yeah,

(04:06):
it's kind of implied. There is precedence to say you
pay the quarterbacks. But they're like, if CJ is going
to have a history of missing time for concussions and
it's not just a sore shoulder or a twist and
ankle Ross, you know, concussions are so severe and that
can permanently impact how CJ then dictates the rest of

(04:29):
his career. When you get two concussions in your career,
you mean to tell me you step back on the
field and you don't think about that ever happening to
you again. Now, if you play scared, you're gonna be screwed.
I'm not saying that you don't do it. I don't
think he's gonna do that, but it's got to be
in the back of his mind. I don't think it's
going to affect his play unless it gets to a
severe level to where we were talking about to a

(04:50):
tongue of a Lowa like retiring, I'm just going a
couple of years. I'm gonna double down on what I said.
I think it's going to be a much more difficult conversation.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Then you maybe thinking it.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
I don't think so, unless it develops further and depending. Honestly,
right now we're in the thick of things can change. Now,
what if he misses another game? If you miss three.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Games, what if you miss another game after that?

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Probably not because Davis Mills is this you know, give
him his shot. I'm not trying to defend that. I'm
just saying that, Yeah, you are runner the team, Davis Mills. No,
well myself, but well, is he back on No the
Mills money, he's on Brystow.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Yeah, he loves Bryce show.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
What's wrong with this guy? It's today's use. He's got
attachment disorder to MID. He's got Mid attachment disorder. The
amount of money he's spent on MID in his life
has been amazing to me.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, it's very concerning.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
But the point is, though, Ross, You're right, he could
he could have The next three weeks would be amazing,
and there could be a hit through no fault of
his own.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
He doesn't. He doesn't walk into concussions. I don't think
he does. No, he was was he running? He was
running and sliding on the hit.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
He did get Yes, he did slide and it was
it was a legal hit too. Yeah, so it wasn't
like it was something dirty done by somebody else. But
maybe the next time it's not a legal hit.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Well maybe it is number one. I think what was it, Quinn?

Speaker 3 (06:01):
It might have been Quinnon Williams who can cuss him
the first time in met Life Stadium and that was
a legal hit.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Yeah. So I mean, it's just football.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
Here.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Here's what you got going against you. You've got. There
are very few elites.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
And I think if you were to pull the Texans aside,
they say, you know, Ceasi's league quarterback.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
He's been really good. He hasn't been elite in a while.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
We were saying he's elite after year one, after year two,
we're like, yeah, so number two you got you got
number two, you're fighting the calendar. And number three he's
got the most aggressive agent in sports today, at least
on the football side.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
David R. M Yeah, that's his guy. That's his guy.
I didn't know that. Oh, he gonna get paid.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
And mull gotta don't cut the hometown discount for anybody.
I'm trying to think of situations where there I mean,
Lamar Jackson hit the market, but nobody traded for him,
and then the Ravens paid for him, and that was
a literal MVP. But most everybody gets paid. Even here's

(07:05):
a Naggert here. Let's say that you are hesitant about
giving him the extension right away, even if you franchise
Tagg him. You franchise tag a quarterback. That's the average
of the top was the top three or top five
in the NFL. That's crazy. That's crazy money too. That's
why that's not gonna happen. I mean, Trevor Lawn, Trevor
Lawrence got paid, right he was just I mean, he
had like one good season and then was mid That

(07:29):
sounds familiar. So Trevor Lawrence got paid. Even Daniel Jones
got paid. I mean, he's getting paid, and it's kind
of your hands are tied. Is that how the NFL
should work?

Speaker 6 (07:42):
Though?

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Should should owners?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
You know, because everybody's always trying to reinvent the wheel
when it comes to salary cap. We're gonna see this
in baseball in a year from now, when the owners
lock out the players because they want to reinvent how
they distribute their cash. This is not a problem exclusive
to the Houston Texans. This is what Jacksonville went through
a couple of years ago. This is what the Miami
did it with Tua. Kirk Cousins did it with several teams.

(08:08):
Are these owners and general managers because the value of
the quarterback is so astronomically more than the second best
player on your team? Are you pitcheonholing yourself into being like, Wow,
it's really cool to have this quarterback. And if he
shows any signs of deterioration or not being as good
as he was on day one, are you stuck?

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Now?

Speaker 3 (08:30):
The Chiefs got out there way early and took care
of Pat Mahomes. Maybe you do that, but then you're
also having to hope and pray that just like in baseball,
you're arbitration buying out years of guys that are gonna
be continued success. Jalen Hurts meant, was I think still
making big I think as big money started when the
Eagles won it all, Pat Mahomes played them in the

(08:52):
Super Bowl, he was making big money. Josh Allen is
making big money. I'm trying to think of the top
AFC teams justin Herbert's making big money. Burrow is making
big money, you can win, you can do it. Yeah,
but Cincinnati's hurt because Joe Burrow can't stay healthy and
everybody I named is better than c J.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Shroud.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Yes, but again, Cincinnati probably didn't do it the right way.
They did not equally distribute their money. They spent all
their money on offense and the best defensive players in
the league who's still looking for a new deal and
looking to get out of there eventually.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
All right, so we gotta get that today.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Texans injury report Jalen Petrie limited participant yesterday CJ. Shroud
did not work out. I'm gonna assume we'll get another
injury report. We were all gonna get one for sure.
This was the one that's going to make difference today. Uh,
we're gonna come back and we're going to talk about
a foreman Heisman winner that just lost his damn mind
on Twitter yesterday. Okay, Uh, by the way, did you

(09:46):
see that Twitter was gone for quite a bit of
time this morning?

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Did you know what I'm saying? You were? You were
deep sleep. One might try to think about you wan. No,
that's right then, sleep, let's go.

Speaker 7 (09:54):
So.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Uh, the original post was deleted, but because people can
tend to capture things. I was able to find it
and send it to Jonathan. We're gonna play some Desmond
Howard audio coming back from the break. Oh, this has
got to be unprecedented. And yeah, because I don't think
we've ever played Desmond Howard ever on this show?

Speaker 5 (10:12):
Have we?

Speaker 2 (10:13):
H And I think and I don't want to.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
I don't like to hire and fire people, but I
think if there is nothing to this and he's wrong,
I would seriously question why ESPN would still employ him.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
That's how serious I think this is. Oh, Okay, you're intrigued,
aren't you?

Speaker 8 (10:37):
I am?

Speaker 5 (10:37):
I am.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
My interest is peaked.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
That's all we're here for. We're trying to peak your
interest here on the Matt Thomas Show with Ross seven
one three, two two five seven. Iemy have got gut
feelings coming up at eleven o'clock today, eleven thirty today,
excuse me. We have the news at noon Rossell handle
one o'clock hour. We got the NFL rewind at one twenty.
But no believe or notus. You're happy, You're good to go, right?

Speaker 8 (10:55):
Eh?

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Fine, And we're gonna check it in Buffalo tomorrow. So
looking forward to that I'll be in Cleveland Rockets take
on the Cavaliers tomorrow night.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
It is Matt and Ross with you at ten eighteen.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
To make sure if it's working Ross, Good morning to you. Okay, So.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
I always felt like I got a preface media conversation
with the you're supposed to do this because you're supposed
to be.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Hot takes and blah blah blah blah. I mean, you're
supposed to.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Create content and get clicks and embrace debate, embrace debate. Well,
I mean, I don't know if Desmond did this to
do that, but his original post.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Is down, but so maybe not.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
If he deleted it, I think he did because I
don't follow him on to it. I find him to
be the captain obvious on that pregame show they do.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Okay, game day, Game Day. Let's see if I can
see it. Oh no, it's there. Nineteen hours ago, four
hundred and thirty six thousand views. Not as good as
my two point two more right, jeez?

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Ninety nine likes, excuse me, ninety nine comments, one hundred
and eighteen retweets, and seven hundred ninety four likes. This
says this is nineteen hours ago Desmond Howard, Okay, happy Monday,
am a little somethin somethin you can only get here
hashtag just my thoughts. By the way, there's people out

(12:29):
there that do are stupid hashtagers. That's a different issue. Hashtag.
The hashtag game is big on Instagram. It's a stupid
They put like seven hundred hashtags. If you put your
name is a hashtag? Got stupid? Or good morning? Or
hello or what's up? Or how's it going? Here is
Desmond Howard nineteen hours ago.

Speaker 9 (12:49):
Thinking, don't be surprised if that Texas job opens up
at the end of the season. You guys were shocked
when LSU opened up.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Imagine how you're gonna feel.

Speaker 9 (13:04):
If that job in Austin pops open. I'm not calling
or saying anyone's gonna get fired. Maybe a mutual parting
of ways.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
You dig.

Speaker 9 (13:16):
Anyway, you guys, have a great Monday.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
You dig, You dig. People still say that. I thought
that was like an eighty thing.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
Oh it's back, all right. You dig is going back
to the nineteen seventies, back with the unks yog I
never left. Yeah, yeah, you dig, go ahead. Oh you know,
like Booker T you said, can you dig it sucker,
Yes he did.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
I love that.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Okay, I got my said he said hashtag I dig
that sucker. Yeah, you should get it tatted on your neck.
Uh yeah, so it's visible so people can see it.
I'm sorry, Ross, Okay, he'd better be right, and he wasn't.
He wasn't announcing something. But that is as cavalier and

(14:03):
as that's abuse of social media in your spot on
the national stage by you flippantly throwing that out there.
I'm sorry, but that doesn't seem that hot taking or
crazy to me.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Really, Jonathan didn't really the exact same time.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
I mean, these coaches are James Franklin gone gone? What
if they lose to the Aggies and lose a Bowl
game and they have five losses? Is that crazy? Is
that the craziest thing I could lay out to you?
Absolutely not. Well, I'll put it this way. Any other year,

(14:43):
I would say, no, this year would be not a
huge surprise. But Desmond Howard could have kept that in
his back pocket and said, yeah, you know, that's interesting.
I heard that, but I'm not ready to put that
on the social media streets. He put it out there.
I mean, I have no issue with it. Honestly, I don't,

(15:05):
and it's not crazy to me at all. We talked
about these boots. These programs are basically run by as
sponsors and high money donating boosters and if the boot now,
I don't I don't want Steve Sarkisian fire. Let me
make this clear. I think he's a really good coach.
I think there's only a handful of coaches in the
country I would take over him, and it's a very

(15:26):
very short list, maybe not even a handful, maybe half
a handful. So I want Steve Sarkisian to stay there.
I think you can win with him as long as
you continue to get him good players. But I'm not
in control of the program.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
I said.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
I didn't think that Tom Herman was doing some crazy
bad job, although that ended up being the right firing.
So these boosters they want results, and they want them
now because they're shelling out millions for all these players.
So I understand if they look now, if they beat
the Aggies out, it's gonna be okay. Would you again,
we can't do this. We're just guessing. Would you have

(16:02):
said that a year ago if all these coaches had
not had all these massive changes, said what exactly if
this was a year ago, let's say UT was in
this situation or the way they are right now where
they are, it's compared to with LSU and Penn State,
I mean, like Florida, Like if you wouldn't have had
these rash of coaching firings, would you have the same

(16:22):
exact opinion of this take a year ago? I think
so at Texas, it's not it's yes, the standard quite frankly,
the standard is too high with these Texas Boosters.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
We're the greatest program of all time. We should win
a championship.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
You have won one since nineteen seventy, Like that was
fifty five years ago. Christie, Can you understand now Texas
is great and it's a heritage program and all that stuff.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
But I don't know, Maybe I'm just.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
I just think the expectation level is insane everywhere, and
it's gonna get and it's getting worse with all this,
and I'm el money being shelled out, and I think
I would not shock me if if they lose. Okay,
I don't think they're gonna lose to Arkansas, but they're
ten and a half point dogs.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Ten and a half point dogs lose every week in
college football.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
But so if they lose one or two more games,
he's absolutely on the hot seat. He's he I think
he should be safe and will be. But it's not
the craziest thing in the world to say. These rabid,
frothing at the mouth Texas boosters want results now, and
they get rid of him.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Two things.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
One, first of all, Christal Conti went on Twitter and
said this is news to me, thanks for the insight,
and he had an index finger pointing at you, and
then he had a face palm emoji. All right, situations change.
I'm telling you, well, that's not what I'm this. We're
good now. I believe in my mind that someone in

(17:52):
that money circle said, Desmond, I got something for you. Maybe,
and you know what, in today's world of journalism, you
can take a high end booster who thinks he's got clot.
Maybe he does have clot, we don't know, and maybe
he says he's going to drop fifty million on it.
He says, I'll pay the buy out, get rid of Sark.

(18:16):
Fifty million dollars can go a lot towards a lot
of good in this world, you know well, Or he
goes to to Brian Kelly and James Franklin. I mean,
this is ridiculous. And there's another thing kind of tying
into what we were talking about. Okay, before you go ahead,
Sark does not deserve to be fired. No, two straight
sept national semi final appearances and this year it's three,

(18:38):
probably gonna be four losses.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Okay, crap happens. Now.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
I did say I got feeling this would be considered
a major disappointment, a major disappointment.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
But he's supposed to be out. But I didn't say firing.
I didn't. That was very clear on that. Well, don't
if somebody's a major disappointment, don't you fire them?

Speaker 3 (18:52):
Not necessarily. I hear a major disappointment. Here's a race,
well seven nines. We got some disappointments.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
We keep paying. But that's a different issue, a different times.
Oh man, all right.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
My point is that you this is absurd. Frankly, LSU's absurd, Frankly,
Penn State's absurd. They're all absurd mad.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Maybe I'm collectingly again, I think part of it it's
these college pundits. There are these on these podcasts.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Yeah, it's the lockdown to be fired, and nobody's good
Sark hasn't won anything.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
I do believe though, and you'll you'll debate me to this.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
I think it's the recency bias, as you would say,
is the reason why you're thinking this is not crazy.
I think if this is a year ago, this is
a preposterous. What is Desmond Howard thinking? Okay, we're not
seeing the rash of guys being let go at this
level with that much success as much as we've seen
so far this year. This again, Desmond Howard doesn't have

(19:46):
to vet this. Desm Howard get a phone call and say,
what did you just say? Mutual parting? Guess what I'm
gonna do. I'm gonna go on Twitter so the Matt
Thomas Show at Ross can discuss it, so I can
get I'm here, I'm looking at number twelve. It's I
can get four and thirty nine thousand views. Tom Herman
was seven and three and got fired seven and three

(20:12):
in a COVID year. How many years though?

Speaker 2 (20:14):
How many years?

Speaker 3 (20:14):
How many you would again if if if I said
I've got a coach who in the first year of
his was it? How many years it was when the
first national semifinal was that his Sarks first year or
what was the second year. The first year they had
a losing record. I think he was five and seven,
So losing record. First season, season number two, National semifinal
season number three, National semifinal, season number four. Let's go

(20:39):
and say, you know what, let's do this. Let's give
him a win against A and M. Because A and
M showed they were vulnerable. I'm telling you, if they
lose to A and M and they got to hear
it from the Aggies and they spent all this money,
and god forbid you lose a bowl game.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
I'm telling you it's not crazy. Eight and five. Let's
go eight and five. You want to know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Eight and five ain't crazy. Mac Brown went eight and
five and got fired. Mac Brown, who won you a championship.
He was eight and five his last season. Then you
know what I would do. Then, if if this is
what we're gonna do with college athletics, we're gonna pay
these coaches a lot of money, okay, and then we're
all gonna tell them, do not buy homes, just rent apartments.

(21:18):
Because if you you talk about a you get little rope.
If you're firing a coach who went to two back
to back national semifinals and eight and five in a year.
That means you got no time. You cannot you cannot
not be awesome. That was my back to my point. Yeah,
I'm telling you it's insane and it's getting worse, and

(21:42):
we'll see what happens in the lane Kiff's situation as well.
Sports Hutch says, Sarks not the problem. It was everybody
who was so quick to run yours out of town?
Who ran yours out of town? You were declared for
the draft, but who ran them out of town?

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Nobody? Apparently.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
Sports Hutch says, it's everybody who was quick Alredy run
h'm out of town?

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Okay, Well, I just.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
I think I'm more bothered by that's not just putting
his hat on and going out in Mona's yard and saying,
oh I got some a little bit juicy, a little
dirt for you. I heard dirt all the times. And
then he said mutual parting of ways. Sark could go
to the maybe they're not happy with Sark, and then
he goes to the NFL.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
I don't even know why a team would do that,
but who knows?

Speaker 3 (22:29):
Who knows ten thirty on The Mattomics Show with Ross
seven one three two one two five seven ninety National Champion, semifinalist,
semifinalist eight and five grounds for termination.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
One team in the semifinals coaches.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
Fired one from last year product and I l pay
these guys.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
I want immediate result. Yes you do. That's it, so
good luck. You know what's stay in Stane High School coaching.
Nobody's crying for Steve Sarkisian. What's he make at eleven?
You know it's gonna happen, all right?

Speaker 3 (23:02):
If he gets fired, then Gordy's gonna send a tweet
out say he's got to fight for his job on
on People's Court, and then I'll get three million views
on that too.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Has he been talking about his views on this tweet
all week?

Speaker 8 (23:13):
Last week?

Speaker 4 (23:13):
One time?

Speaker 8 (23:14):
It was.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
One time? One time reference?

Speaker 1 (23:17):
All right?

Speaker 3 (23:23):
I was just calling the for you tab. Oh no,
not about that kind of stuff. Did you say, hey,
what's up?

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Girl?

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Did you dropper alike? I put dame?

Speaker 1 (23:35):
No, I did not.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
He wanted to cross my mind. Ross Dellinger, Okay, you
excuse me, bless you do you respect Ross Ellinger to
we'd like him, I sure.

Speaker 8 (23:48):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (23:49):
I don't know, Gordia. He's gotten some stuff wrong though.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
Okay, well, Ross Dellinger said there was a meeting yesterday
and that they're the Big ten is trying to push
for a twenty fourteen college football player twenty four teams.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Yeah, what are we doing here, folks? Is that because
the Big ten just sucks? What do they want? They
want ten guaranteed spots. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
Maybe they're trying to figure out how a feig and
eight wisconsinin can get in there. Just ridiculous, and they
want to give Oh god, this is two. Twelve is good,
sixteen is too many, twenty four is absurd. All right,
here's the Big ten is socialized. Where are you gonna do?
Eight buys twenty fourteen concept grants, four a qs automatic

(24:39):
qualifiers each of the four power leagues?

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Yes, he says, not agreement, not getting more.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
That's sixteen right there, two to the highest ranked, two
non power league champions, and six at large selections. You're
going a four four four four two six that's come.
These automatics are ridiculous. How about just not having a
tournament as long as the season is I mean, that's

(25:04):
what FCS has done for years. Right, how many people
get how many teams get in the FCS. You're asking
the wrong person. It's gotta be about twenty four. My
guess is right, give her take somewhere around there you
get thirty two in so again, here it is. This
is a meeting in Charlotte, big ten percented twenty four
team tournament. Each of the four power leagues get four
spots for a total of sixteen. It's twenty four in

(25:26):
the ever since twenty one. It used to be sixteen,
and now it's twenty four.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Okay, Then you.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
Have two automatic qualifiers in non power force in six
at large, there's your twenty six.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Twenty four. Excuse me. I don't like this automatic qualifier stuff.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
Meanwhile, the SEC is like, we'll go to sixteen, but
that's about as far as we want to go. Can't
pet Then nobody gets buys. I brought this up last week.
I love the twelve team. I love this with the
first four getting by. I guess in twenty four the
first eight would get buys, sixteen would play. You got
eight left over, and then it's a sixteen team tournament.
I feel like we need an algorithm to finish this

(26:08):
all out so that that makes sense.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
I like at least some buys.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
That's why I don't like sixteen because think about like
you go undefeated and you win, you're at the SEC
or Big Ten championship. I think you should be rewarded
for the regular season should matter to an extent.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
I agree, I agree.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Yeah, I look, I would move it off at twelve,
but I think I'm gonna lose lose that battle. You
gain an advantage of other teams playing more games. I
also brought this up while you were gone last week.
I would, I think, and this is never gonna happen
ROSSI I think if you're in that, if you have
the four buys, you should still have a home game too.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
Why not let Ohio say on thousands? Well, yeah, because
you just because you're Bowl tie ins.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
But I mean, yeah, don't you think you deserve a
home game to be able to cherish things, having your
fans dominate a crowd.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
I know, don't put the money get the money.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
No, yeah you know, I'm saying, yeah, you'd be nice
to get your money too as well.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
If you're Ohio State or Texas.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
A and m Indiana towards that it's going to be
probably a top four team if they don't screw the
pooch here in the next couple of weeks, they should
have a game at Coylefield.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Big game coming up in a couple weeks.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
We'll be sitting by the way, uh forty yard line
upper deck.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
That's not terrible there, that's good.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Can I just say, you know, do you know what
you've got to donate to get really good seats in
that stadium?

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Well, you can be donating for Sarks Mutual League fund.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Geez, it's so stupid. I how to just get out
of whack this way? I still want my Texas versus
anim on Thanksgiving night. I know it's not gonna happen
now with the NFL day after it's perfect.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
Ten am the following Friday morning. What do you think
ten am used to be? Ten am?

Speaker 3 (27:43):
Okay, well that's it used to be. I know, I
ain't getting up. I got a tailgate. I gotta get sloshed.
Pass out, wake up and go to the game. Matt
at six thirty is perfect for you? Then, hey, yeah,
it's funny. Pass out the grass, wake up with blades
of grass on their face, and walk in the game. Okay,
that's the thing about you is you always want to
go back to when you were twenty two. You're almost

(28:05):
double that. I haven't thrown up in probably no a decade.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Okay, good, that's good. Probably now.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
I'm not holding you to it, but yeah, I I
wish there was at some point we could go back
to tradition, like tradition weekend. You know how we're throwing
We're throwing back our old school uniforms in all the sports.
How about how about an old school weekend in sports
where Mississippisissippi State was the game to watch on Thanksgiving Night,
or the Yaggies versus Texas, or for that man, when

(28:37):
text when the Yankees left Membe ain't there?

Speaker 5 (28:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Is NFL. They're not going to fight with the NFL.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Yeah, that's what I mean. I'm in college football. I
believe is egg ball playing on Thursday night? Let me
look at her quick. Now they're on Friday. So you
me they're staying away from the NFL. Huh, everybody and
their mother is staying away from the NFL. We can't
hear you, Gordy. Yeah, Gordy's talking out of his What's
what's going on? Gordy's alright, you.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Want to college game Thursday night and it's some crappy one.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Okay, Thanksgiving Night, which would be November the twenty May
in Memphis Navy Memphis. Oh my god, that's just you
know what that is. That's just about betting. Get little
same game, parlay on that bad I knew you were
gonna go there. But I like the midship mid plus
the play in the.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
NFL game Bengals Ravens or something. Yeah, it's like that.
That bad boy Joe Burrow could be back by the
name maybe.

Speaker 10 (29:24):
But the Friday triple head, the SEC triple header on
Friday is Egg Bowl at eleven night, which creates a
lot more drum with this lane kiff and stuff.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Is he going to be coaching that game?

Speaker 10 (29:33):
Two thirty is Georgia Georgia Tech, both twenty teams, and
remember that game went seven overtimes last year or eight
whatever it was. And then the nightcap of course A
and m versus Horns and dk R the Rockets playing
that night. No, because we have that game right here
in seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
What am I going to be? I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Home the best college environment in college football, according to
Will Anderson, You no, k are he's the Gospel? Yes
he is seven one three two one two five seven
ninety seven one three two one two five seven nine zero.
Scott river Okes says he's stressed out about lane Kiffin.
You know who's not stressed out about lane Kiffin? Lane

(30:16):
Kiffin go get paid. So did you see the report
that he's the old miss to hold him? Youre gonna
make up your mind here in the next couple of weeks.
You feeling about your uh what was it? You're willing
to tell the truth that he's staying there. I think
he's staying. I still think he's staying. Okay, I think
Ole Miss has been on the is on the clock.
Oh you think lane Kiffin is the type of guy
that gets an ultimatum from a school and it's like, okay, guys,
you control me.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
No, the ultimatum is gonna be a stay. Just pay me.
Give me that Mike Elcho money. Is that a spiteful
bone in lane Kiffin's body?

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Oh, there's spiteful bones and all those guys bodies. So
Gordi and Ross were talking about this. We were going
back to the uh stuff about Sark Maybe uh, maybe
Diana Rassini was right and she got Remember he got
all heavy handed on that and had to explain to
the kids.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
But then maybe there was a little NFL.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
It happened to the more the more heavy handed somebody
denies something, likely the more true it is correct.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Just in general. Yeah, in life, Yes.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Again Rassini, I don't know her doesn't come across to
me as somebody that's gonna go run. She's not gonna
make something out so I want to dine and Rossini
called Desmond Howard and said he why don't you go
put a video out there with your fishing hat on.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
I don't think she said that. I don't think that
was the instructions. By the way, one note that the
ESPN folks out yesterday about their programming. Yeah, Steven A.
Smith will not be a part of the NBA coverage
this year. That is a blessing because I love it.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Really, Yes, he's not, that's the one Sporty knows. Remember
he got caught playing solitary during the finals last year. Yes,
he did, and then he was sponsoring a solitaire and
that was all backlash from that that wound up being
a uh not a ponzi scheme, but a scheme, the
unethical taking a money from people.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Yeah, what are they doing? I don't know, but it was.
And then all the network people were told to go
support Steven A. Smith and they just did it.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Kind of blindly, like, hey, lunch you go talk about
Acme Solitary. They're a great company. They were taking people
money from people.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
So there you have it. Rockets. By the way, Cavaliers
have moved to ESPN.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
So there'll be two versions of the broadcast tomorrow night,
which you do want to of course listen to me
and then watch Craig Ryan and Vanessa and the six
o'clock start.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
Tomorrow night from Cleveland. Sounds great.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
And Emay doc was on Thursday. Sorry Ross, Why are
you sorry? Because you would usually use email for your
lunch back I do.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
I don't, Well, you're not. You're not doing it this
week on Wednesday because I think it's during the night.

Speaker 5 (32:40):
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
Oh, then you know you're free and clear. I don't
use coach for eighty percent of them. Now I'm gonna
make It's called being a professional. I know you mail
it in when you do the astros pre you put
in like six interviews. Mmmmmm. Yeah, nope, you got like
the interview and the water boy and the equipment manager. Hey,
I thought my conversation with orbit was was groundbreaking.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
You didn't even speak.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
Well, it was brief. It was a brief conversation, all right,
seven one three two one two five. And then we
got gut feelings coming up. You know what, we're gonna
have the gut feeling whether or not Sarks that you
know we got to do this, so just just for
us to do it, the Starks stay at Texas and
does Lank Kiffin stay at Old Miss. I'm I'm already
in the record. I got a gut feeling, says he stays,

(33:26):
who's that Sart Sark? Yeah, I mean no Sark, No,
that uh link at Ole Miss.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
I got it. I could be wrong.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
Yeah, you're wrong all the time. No, I'm not not usually.
I Hey, the Texas Insider had know Joe Mixon this year. Okay,
you had them losing to the Jaguars. I should have
lost that game, for sure. Nothing that shouldn't have the
down nineteen Davis Mills, are you in them? Are you
in the money mails train? Whooh he's the greatest of

(33:57):
all time? Then you wouldn't want to give C. J.
Stroud's a number. He's number five all time in passing
yards Texans history. How sad did that make you? I
feel like I'm calling you, uh Ross Ragon.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
M Hey, hold up now? And we hating on Davidgone.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
I was more of a Tony Banks guy though, Yeah,
Tony makes a good Dave Ragon third round pick from Michigan.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
Now Louisville, Louisville. That's old. That's Scott on Seventardy. Scott.
Are you wicking out about ole Miss? What's going on
with you? Scott?

Speaker 1 (34:28):
All right?

Speaker 11 (34:28):
Matt Ross, what's going on? Fellas? So before I dive
directly into my stress levels with lank kiff at, let
me give some proper context for the audience here. So
you guys know, I call into the show at fair
amount to talk about, uh, the Astros, Rockets, and Texans.
I've called in to talk about all three teams. So
I'm born, born, and raised here in Houston. I'm thirty
one years old. I've only lived outside of the city

(34:50):
of Houston for one year, and that was my freshman
year of college when I went to or Miss partying
my way right out. Ended up graduating from the University
of Houston. Obviously, I'm a huge sports fan, Astros, Rockets, Texans.
I'm a huge U of H fan, huge football and basketball.
In this past year, just alone for context, I went
to Astros spring training. I've already been to like two

(35:11):
Texans games this year. I go to about ten Rockets
games a year. I was at the Magic game on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Did you go to the Cougar's game? Are you going
the Cougar's game against TCU this week?

Speaker 11 (35:22):
I'm not yet, but I went to the Texas Tech
game and I went to the Colorado game. O.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Good for you, thank you.

Speaker 11 (35:28):
So all of that being said, the only thing I
can think about is what Lane Kiffin is going to do.
And I don't want this stress in my life. I
don't need it. I'm not I went to ole Miss
for one year. I wish we could get rid of fandom.
Even though they're having a great year and they're a
lot of fun to watch and I'm excited for the playoffs.
But I'm a Houstonian and I'm just frustrated that I

(35:50):
am this consumed by what this guy is going to do, because,
like you said, he's not stressed about it. The other thing, though,
if you guys have a chance during like the next
break or something, you should go look at his Instagram
and X accounts. He is he is posting. He posts
seven to eight things a day on Instagram and on X.
And then what he posted this morning he posted he

(36:12):
every morning he posts this like you know, self help
book that he reads like a certain expert from excerpt
from it. And today he posted like this excerpt that
that teaches you, like gives you advice on how to
make a big decision in your life. He literally posts
that and it talked about asking yourself what your ninety
year old self would tell you to do, weigh the
pros and cons, and then he like you know, puts
the rebel colors and says, have a great day. I mean,

(36:35):
if he leaves, this would be the biggest troll job.
And to walk away from the best team he's ever coached.
This is the best team he's ever coached USC Tennessee
the Raiders. I mean, you know, it's just fascinating that
we're here, that we're at this point. But I wish
I didn't care so much. I want to focus on
the rockets detections. I mean, I'm rooting for him, but

(36:57):
I can't even begin to focus on them till this
lane kip and think it's.

Speaker 8 (37:01):
Out of my head.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Let me, let me, let me, let's give let's give
some good advice here. Thank you Scott for the phone call.
You know what that may import us? How it does
and that means a lot to me. Well, you nearly
has one year vested at ole Miss and he's wigging
out this much over it.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
That's passion, I got. Yeah, that makes sense. I guess. Okay,
let's talk about Old Miss Beautiful school?

Speaker 11 (37:27):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (37:28):
Why not?

Speaker 3 (37:28):
Uh great campus, huge fraternity, sorority, social scene, big time
southern party school.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Oh yeah, lex I would say it's close to open enrollment.
I mean, I've never heard him said me say, Man,
I'm really sweating when I get ole Miss right now,
it's pretty high acceptance. Right, let's look at what it is.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
There are more ninety six is this real? Ninety seven
point eight yeah percent.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
That's that's real. That sounds about that's like, yeah, that's fine. Yeah,
I mean he's I'm sorry to me to say that publicly.
Bang bang You know what that is? Collateral damage?

Speaker 3 (38:14):
He's talking about you, Mads campus shush, he's getting his shot, said,
he is getting his shot.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
Literally.

Speaker 3 (38:20):
Uh no, how I don't get that. Ninety seven point
eight percent. Yeah, basically of ever every one hundred they're
trying to be funny. Yeah, no, I'm gonna be really serious.
One hundred people apply, ninety seven absolutely get in to
no chance, and one's well, we'll think about you. That's

(38:42):
what Isn't Mississippi like the fiftieth rated education state. So
ninety eight percent of the people in the dumbest state
get in. Yes, go look at Misissippi State's acceptance, right, Like,
what is the most difficult school to get in the entire.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
For Okay, let's wait, did in Mississippi? Does Mississippi the
one that made a big, big improvement?

Speaker 3 (39:04):
I don't know, but I obviously with its college acceptance, right,
there's not a tremendous improvement there.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
Okay, let's put it this way.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
In the state of Mississippi, you have USM Southern Mississippi,
so Brett Farr went to school. Uh, you have Mississippi
State that had the cowbells for three and a half
hours on a Saturday. Okay, I mean, what is the
Harvard of Mississippi is there such a thing. Miss ooh, wow,

(39:39):
he's staying there.

Speaker 2 (39:41):
US News and World Report ranks Mississippi forty eighth in education.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
Do you think he's staying there even when they're giving
him an ultimatum? Yep, it's not an ultimatum. I don't
think it's an ultimate. Say, hey, we need to figure
out what we're doing. You're forty eighth in education, and
you're you're accepting ninety eight percent of those the forty
eighth percent. Yeah, forty eighth state. Yep, my mind is blown.

Speaker 5 (40:04):
All right.

Speaker 3 (40:04):
Look, Mississippi State, by the way, is more difficult to
get into than old miss Oh. Maybe it is the
Harvard of mississ seventy six point three seventy six. All right, now,
I'm gonna go to Southern Mississippi. This ought to be
a real good one. We actually work with a guy
in Southern miss We love him, we do.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
Acceptance raid for the University of Southern Mississippi is approximately
ninety nine percent.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
That is literally open roll. But okay, gimme if you
what if you google that and you get denied by
Mississippi Southern miss Okay, so give me one more Mississippi school.

Speaker 3 (40:42):
Jackson State. Let's take a look at Jackson State, Jackson, Mississippi.
That's ninety one percent. Okay, so we're getting there.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
How may out I only have thirty three colleges and
universities in the whole state, Troy's and Alabat. I'm trying
to gik of a Division I program out Corn Alcorn
State is uh, it's it's like an it a bit
at Mississippi, right, is that what they call it? Alcornshait acceptance? Right,
it's twenty four point Okay, that's nice.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
These are all Look, the big three are Ole Miss,
Mississippi State, and Southern miss and then everything else is
basically community or smaller ones like you're talking about. Yeah, okay,
there you go. All right, we do we even help
out our guy Scott. Are we just like talking about acceptance?
Right now, take some deep breaths to be present and
notice five things in the room that that you're sitting in.

(41:35):
And remember also when you go back to campus, you're
the chance to be running into a hot woman is
going to be probably like their acceptance right about ninety
seven percent beautiful women down there?

Speaker 2 (41:45):
Oh lordie, Hotty Toddy, are you okay? I'm great?

Speaker 1 (41:49):
All right.

Speaker 3 (41:50):
I haven't gone back in a long time, but I
remember going, Damn, this is good. I mean the campus obviously,
eleven o'clock on Sports Talk seven out it is a
Matt Thomas show, a raw seven three, two, one two five,
seven ninety we have coming up, got Phillies in one
half hour here on seven.

Speaker 1 (42:05):
Ninety he's the mac Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
Friend of the show, Scott, to send me an email
about southern miss about Missippi and generally it just old
miss and Mississippi State have to accept every kid that
graduates from Misissippi high school. It's a state law. The
no other acceptance rate is so high, so the ones
who don't graduate. They recruited my daughter who had high
test scores. They told her it would be free and
wanted her test scores to help their average.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
It feels fair. Well, I don't graduate and in Mississippi.
Now I get to go to Mississippi State. I am
not anti state of Mississippi. First of all, Biloxi, you
get some beaches there, you got the casinos. It's a
quick trip. You got May Saint Louis, Oxford. I've been
one time. I thought it was fantastic and I've never
been to Jackson's. I can't speak to that. But I

(42:58):
don't think I like the I'm good. Don't you want
to knock out of state for what? Because don't you
have your list of states?

Speaker 5 (43:06):
Well?

Speaker 2 (43:06):
I have states, and they got all their states they
got out of the list that associated with states. I
don't think I've ever been to Iowa. I'm good. I
have been to Iowa. Okay, have you had how many
states have you been to?

Speaker 5 (43:15):
Though?

Speaker 2 (43:15):
For not for work? Well, that's weird. I mean, I don't.
I don't. I don't just like to say, let's go on,
let's go to Kansas for a few days. Exactly.

Speaker 3 (43:25):
No, for most I would. I think I've been to
probably how many? We have fifty states? Now Biloxi to gamble,
that makes sense, we should do that. They have all
the way to New Orleans. Have junkets too, that's another
Just stay in New Orleans. It's an actually an hour
beyond it, but mobile's actually cool too. That's Alabama, though,
so so I'm gonna go an hour beyond to get
worse food and a worse casino. Yes, I'm good, okay,

(43:46):
but they have like the bowl boul Revisor or some.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
I don't know. If you'd like to be a casino
sponsored show, we're here for you. We would love to
like to go. I like to gamble. I do too.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
I'll be gambled to night. As a matter of fact,
you will at Jacks Casino in Cleveland. Don't roll the dice, Matty,
I'm watching you. That is the shadiest casino I go to,
by the way. It's dark, it's got curtains all around.
It's it's like what you would expect it the casino
to be. It's a mill of downtown though that's a benefit.
Though it's a literally walk over there. It's literally attached

(44:19):
to my hotel. Oh wow, Oh yeah, it's why Cleveland's
one of my favorite stopping I see that good luck,
get the stay of that weather, snow and rain.

Speaker 2 (44:27):
Today they have full black jack and craps and all.

Speaker 3 (44:30):
They got everything. I think it's a Caesars properly. How
many states have that in Texas? Doesn't you mean like
full on?

Speaker 2 (44:35):
Yeah? I bet you.

Speaker 3 (44:37):
Thirty states probably have the full casino. We're getting ah
Airbnb in Providence for when Carter goes to school, because
my wife was going to go up there for a
lengthy periods of time. We're going to share it with
a couple of other people in Massachusetts. You know, Boston's
got that awesome Uh, Encore, there's casinos in Massachusetts.

Speaker 1 (45:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
People don't even realize that. I knew that.

Speaker 7 (45:05):
I know.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
It's just terrible. Again.

Speaker 3 (45:08):
I'm running on a platform of very little politics. Give
me gambling in Texas, and I think I can get
at least fifty percent of the vote. I think it
looks like eighteen states don't have sports betting. Okay, but
we're in the minority. But you were talking about full betting.
Now casinos. Dude, you know I'm gonna do a podcast. Plinko,
power bombs and throwing the dice, all three things I

(45:31):
know a lot about. Okay, it seems a little, a
little niche. It is a little niche, all right.

Speaker 2 (45:36):
Uh, Texans on the practice field, this is We're gonna
Matt Bell's hit this very much. They're not gonna be
in the practice field tomorrow. They're gonna walk in through
some things. What's what's Texans wex say? Who's there? Who's not?
Is Texans wex there? He's gotta better, I'm asking, I mean, probably,
let's take a look.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
He's probably have fifteen tweets in the last ten minutes.
Let's take a look. Let's take a look at Wex's
last tweet. Now, he's our Texans reporter. I am the insider. Um, No,
he's the insider. No, no, no, no, no, you're the faker. No,
you don't go to practices or any press conference. Even
admitted to me when I tweeted texted him the today.
He says, you're the insider. He's trying to be nice. No,

(46:11):
he's not very polite. He knows he's very nice to
most people. Wex is not sent out a tweeting fourteen hours?

Speaker 2 (46:17):
Is he okay?

Speaker 3 (46:19):
We did do a wellness check. I don't think this
is at all. Adam Wexer has not tweeted in fourteen hours.
This is an emergency situation. I'm a little worried. Yeah,
wex I don't care what it is. Just just text
tweet something about the practice squad if you're okay.

Speaker 2 (46:41):
Yeah, we need something about a snap count. Let's go
snap count now, how about some practice player getting elevated
in the main roster. We can't live like this. We
kind of know what's going on, all right, let's go
to the phones. I don't think we helped out our
guy Scott and Morokes, did we do we?

Speaker 1 (46:57):
Ever?

Speaker 7 (46:57):
Have?

Speaker 2 (46:58):
I told him to take some deep breaths. You know
what roll one, roll one? What joint? Yeah, then you're
just treating the symptom, not the disease.

Speaker 11 (47:06):
Matt.

Speaker 2 (47:07):
It's a little getaway. It's a couple of hours. No big,
big whoop. Let's talk to uh C calling us in Brazoria.

Speaker 7 (47:13):
Hello, See, yeah, I got a question A big Longhorns
fan Ross hook him as always, Yes you are.

Speaker 2 (47:24):
You're a closet the closeted Aggie, Matt.

Speaker 4 (47:28):
And stop, Matt, go ahead and say hook him because
you sing the song, the fight song he did.

Speaker 5 (47:33):
You're right?

Speaker 1 (47:35):
All right?

Speaker 4 (47:36):
So question, I don't think.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
Sark is going to leave. I don't think he's going
to get fired.

Speaker 4 (47:42):
But if the Boosters decide to do that, I want
to ask each of y'all a question, who is the
upgrade from Sark? Because you can't downgrade because then you're
going to sell yourself back with this roster.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
So who would be an upgrade? And I'll hang up
and listen.

Speaker 3 (47:57):
All right, Well, this is a I don't know this
answer but you have to go get somebody that has
pre current head coaching experience. If you were to do
that correct, you're not You're not usually parting a ways
for Sarkisian, for an offensive coordinator at Vanderbilt.

Speaker 2 (48:14):
Probably not the upgrades.

Speaker 3 (48:19):
Let's see, Kirby Smart would be an upgrade. Are you
pissed off the Kirby Smart on side kicked your team?
Not pissed off?

Speaker 2 (48:25):
Why?

Speaker 3 (48:27):
Because pissed off. He's a better coach because he plans
to win and sark doesn't. Because I if that happened
to a team that I liked, like, I hate like.
If you give up touchdowns, that's one thing, But if
you give up goofy pick sixes, those are bad, or
you fumble or your drum. I just think on site
kicks mean that you weren't coached up, and that's a
sign that's that you weren't ready for. The thing that
only really pisses me off when it comes to college

(48:49):
football is when Texas my team loses to teams I
think they're better than that better then they're not better
than Georgia. They were not favored and no one thought
that they were gonna get There were people that thought
they may go do it because George has been far
from one hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (49:02):
But Georgia was the better football team on paper going
in and they proved it.

Speaker 5 (49:05):
I mean, it's.

Speaker 3 (49:05):
Frustrated they'd been owned by Georgia the last two years.
Three of the three losses to Georgia in the span
of twelve months does not feel good.

Speaker 2 (49:14):
So that's frustrating. But I wasn't mad at the onside kick.

Speaker 3 (49:16):
I was just shaking my head and I was look
sitting there looking at Sark, like Ce Sark, you see
this other.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
Coach playing a win. Why don't you do that?

Speaker 1 (49:23):
Sark?

Speaker 3 (49:24):
Let's go Why don't you go for some four downs?
I don't't you throw the ball down the field. I
don't think Eli Drinkwitz moves a needle in Austin, Texas.

Speaker 2 (49:34):
Probably not. But I mean, you know, how will you know?

Speaker 3 (49:36):
Would be who talk for a second, I'm going to
think about you, guys, say Nick Saban noop. When Sark
was hired, it was like, Okay, the OC from Alabama
he washed out at Washington. Not in Washington, I washed
out UC USC Willie Fritz Marcus Freeman. Marcus Freeman is
a good name Marcus Human is a great name.

Speaker 2 (49:58):
Again, I'm not endorsing this. I think Sarks should keep
the job.

Speaker 3 (50:01):
I'm not saying this because I'm not pro orient I'm
just saying that it's patently ribsurd that you're taking a
coach and thinking there should be a mutual party. Unless
unless Sarks just wants to go to the NFL. He
ain't gonna find a better college job. There's no better
college job in sports for him today than at the
University of Texas. Yeah, but if he Alway State doing

(50:22):
this year. Remember when Matt Campbell was like the hot name. Yeah,
they're mid Dabo.

Speaker 2 (50:30):
I'm good.

Speaker 3 (50:30):
No thanks, Oh, I'll tell you what you know the
name It gets brought up a lot in Arizona State's coach.
Oh yeah, that guy, he's good. But he's Arizona guy.
He's a west he's a West Coast guy. I want
to say all of his life. I'm gonna be arrogant
Texas fan for five seconds. Please, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (50:47):
It's Texas. Yeah, it's fine, it's Texas.

Speaker 11 (50:49):
Come on.

Speaker 2 (50:52):
What's that dude's name.

Speaker 3 (50:53):
He's good? Uh it is Kelly Dillingham. No you Yeah,
I could be a guy that grew up all the
way like I was Carolina through and through. If Texas
comes to hire me, oh I don't know Mac Brown?
Yeah you know mc Brown. It was in North Carolina
and loved all the things that I love, the tar
heels and everything in. Me and Sally are really building
a nice community.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
That was a great place to go.

Speaker 3 (51:14):
And I'm gonna go to Austin and make lots of
money and serve putting in everybody. All right, stop, that
was a long whore network show. Know what, I'd like
to apologize to Mac Brown and all of his family
and everybody.

Speaker 8 (51:26):
He knows.

Speaker 2 (51:26):
He doesn't care.

Speaker 3 (51:27):
Okay, he doesn't impersonations as a sincere form of flattery. Okay,
Oh okay, Well you'll roll your eyes and saying, ok okay,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (51:37):
It's time for break. The more you know, thank you.

Speaker 3 (51:40):
Eleven fourteen on Sports Talk seven ninety uh seven one
three two one two five seventy Ross has on our
screen utsa versus Southwest Christian University. Oh, I'm sorry, Do
you want live sports or do you want to rehashing
a first take?

Speaker 2 (51:54):
Is this game live?

Speaker 1 (51:55):
Yeah? No way?

Speaker 3 (51:56):
They're playing the game at eleven o'clock in the morning.
Good for them and get you on TV. I guess
is this the ESPN Plus or is our mainstream ESPN game?

Speaker 2 (52:04):
It's on Plus.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
Come on this camera quality, hey by do plus game exactly? Hey,
it's not insulting me. I'm not insulting you, all right,
You're doing great. I am trying to insulting my my
partners here eleven nineteen on Matt Thomas Show with Ross

(52:32):
seven one three two one two five seven nine. If
you want to chime in, we had some good We've
had a lot of college. You know why, because I
can't stare at the injury report. I can't go to
a deep dive on that. I got news for you.
If CJS, if if Davis Mills has to have ten
times better of a game than he did against UH Tennessee,
even though he threw for nearly three hundred yards, or

(52:52):
the Texans are gonna win, Bills are beatable.

Speaker 2 (52:54):
Baby Bill's put up forty four and the Dolphins beat him.
The only we can hope for ROSSI is if the
Bills are a jackal and high team away from Buffalo,
New York in Orchard Park, they're outstanding everywhere else they're
mid inter fac I'm gonna go to their road record
right now.

Speaker 3 (53:11):
We'll see what they're do. They lost to the Patriots
at home. Let's take a look at the old Buffalo
Bills schedule.

Speaker 8 (53:16):
Here.

Speaker 2 (53:17):
Bills this year are seven and three. Okay, props for
them on that.

Speaker 8 (53:25):
There.

Speaker 3 (53:25):
Let's see going back to the start of the season.
They beat the Ravens at home, beat the Jets in
the road. Boy, they lost to the Patriots, as you mentioned,
at home. They lost at Atlanta. Atlanta's no good. They
did crush the Panthers in Charlotte, but the Panthers are
a different football team now and they lost the game

(53:48):
at Miami their last road game on the ninth, thirty
to thirteen.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
Who's the best team in the NFL? Oh, I'm glad
you asked.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
It feels like there's a fair amount of parody. Is
not a I was going to tell you Detroit was
until they lost by giving up or scoring just less
than ten points. This week, the two teams are the
best record in the NFL are nine and two. It's
the Broncos and the Patriots. Let me get out of
these three teams, I mean the Texans, Indianapolis Denver, Indianapolis, Denver,

(54:18):
New England. Who's the best of the three? Jan listen
to me very carefully. This is why I tell you
if Kansas City gets in the playoffs, they're winning the AFC.
Because you hear the wiggle out of my partner's voice
right there. The question wasn't even pertaining the Chiefs, though.

(54:41):
You put the cheas in and be like, definitely not
the cheese. I just I just said who's the best
team in the AFC? The three best records belonged to Indianapolis,
New England and Indianapolis, New England, and oh, Denver, who's
the best? He couldn't come up with an answer. I'll
go with the Colts. You don't think uh Jones gonna

(55:06):
go back to his old ways just like like a
little Sam Darnell action. You think Jonathan Taylor can whiel
them to the AFC championship period.

Speaker 2 (55:15):
I'm saying the Colts. Right now, you're telling me who's right?

Speaker 8 (55:17):
A right?

Speaker 2 (55:17):
Okay? Perfect Chez versus Colts this Sunday? Oh a perfect?
No okay? And then you can see if Daniel dun
still got it all right?

Speaker 3 (55:28):
How about this? Is this a must win for Kansas City. Gee, No,
they're five and five. No, they could go they they
could win out. I guess their schedule. I think the
last playoff spot in the AFC goes to a ten
win team. Nine and eight ain't gonna cut it.

Speaker 2 (55:44):
No Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (55:45):
After this, they have Cowboys, Texans, Chargers, Titans, Broncos, Raiders.

Speaker 2 (55:50):
No, they're they're fine. This is not a must win game.

Speaker 3 (55:53):
You know Who's also got a fairly easy schedule the
rest of the way. Now, granted, I don't know. I
have very little faith in them, generally speaking. The Jaguars,
the Jaguars, we're talking about it.

Speaker 2 (56:04):
I mean, there's there's just no, there is a lot
of parody.

Speaker 3 (56:06):
And this is why the NFL's great Jaguars have two
road games coming up at Arizona at Tennessee Dub Dub
So that would put now again. But that's also the
Jaguars we're talking about here. That would put them at
eight and four. Okay, stay with me on this. Okay,
you write this down. You write this down. Think about this.

(56:27):
We're doing gut feelings here. Write this down here, right down.

Speaker 2 (56:33):
How did you lose your pal and get you a pen?
You want a nice one to do some something. Just
write with.

Speaker 3 (56:37):
After that, pilot G twos after that like a good
G two Home for the Colts loss right, that puts
them at eight and five home for the Jets win
nine and five.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
At Denver. Denver loss nine and six, No five, excuse me?

Speaker 1 (57:00):
Wait?

Speaker 2 (57:01):
Hold on?

Speaker 12 (57:01):
So even because even if Jacksonville beat Kansas earlier this season,
you still think Kansait is a better team than Jacksonville.

Speaker 2 (57:08):
Just tell me who you're the best team in the
AFC is right now? Just tell me without do you
have without a doubt? Or do you want to say
I don't think final answer over the Colt I was
gonna say Patriots. Patriots are good too.

Speaker 3 (57:18):
Patriots feel like to me and them are the more
complete team because Drake May doesn't sound like it shows
like he signs any any leftdown Daniel. People are waiting
for the Daniel Jones egg to burst. You are the
bubble to burst session saying don't you think aren't people
going to win? Is Daniel Jones gonna be the real
Daniel Jones? Point being is I had the Jaguars finishing
in ten and seven because I think they're gonna lose

(57:40):
at Denver they're gonna lose at Indianapolis. That's gonna put
him at nine and six, and then their last game
of the year at at home for the Titans, who
will be playing I mean nobody.

Speaker 2 (57:51):
Oh well, Baltimore has an easy schedule too. I didn't
even think about this.

Speaker 3 (57:57):
The Texans are in an uphill, but I think the
Texts have a way harder schedule than anybody else.

Speaker 2 (58:01):
They're probably not making the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (58:05):
Okay, so we're gonna do this. This week's gut feeling
is gonna be linked to you ready for this. We're
gonna talk about whether we're we're a Lane Kiffin goes.
Who's gonna win the Buffalo Houston game?

Speaker 2 (58:17):
Okay? And do we want to do a contract on
where do you think Farmberval this is gonna end up?

Speaker 7 (58:26):
No.

Speaker 3 (58:27):
Cole Thompson had a spot for him last week when
we filled in for you guy those afternoon shows. You
know it's kind of weird take where it's ridiculously horrific shirts. Hey,
you know he's a Hawaiian shirt Friday, what do you
say he was going? Matt, I forgot where you said
that's gonna go. We'll take you and come back pirates. No, no,
nobody goes. Nobody choose to go to Pittsburgh. You may

(58:48):
get drafted there, you may get traded there, but you
are not choosing to go there. Okay, all right, so
we got a bunch of thems, We got a lot
of gut feelings. So what do you all have for
gut feelings? All right, I got a go on question
for you. Well, Southwest Christian University come back down eighteen
to UTSA with nine to fifty left to go in
the first half. No shot, these kids realize what kind
of national exposures are getting right now.

Speaker 2 (59:09):
I guess he looks. I've seen him at Lifetime Fitness playing.

Speaker 1 (59:14):
The kid from Salah.

Speaker 2 (59:16):
That's not nice. You're telling me that Southwest Christian University
just grabbed a guy working out and said, hey, let's
go play Division one basketball. Yeah. Probably they're not. They
can't be Division one. There's no chance.

Speaker 3 (59:28):
By wait, uts I'd be a shame yourself playing a
Division two.

Speaker 2 (59:34):
They need wins.

Speaker 3 (59:35):
Yeah, that's true. There's not a lot of people in
the building either. There's like fifteen people there. It's eleven o'clock.
Why when you have we could do a show from it.
We we you know, we can do it live from
UTSA versus Southwest Christian University.

Speaker 2 (59:47):
It may be a nice quiet place to do it.
Where do you think Southwest Christian University is? Uh, somewhere
in Texas? And let's go.

Speaker 3 (59:55):
I'm gonna go to Lagrange, Texas. You cannot randomly just
select the city we're because this is stupid. Why not
let me in college or university look it up. Don't say, okay,
give me multiple choice and I'm like, well, it's not
in Texas.

Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Oh damn it.

Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
Okay, give me three tries. Oklahoma and you're never gonna
guess it. Edmund Edmond, Oklahoma, Bethany, Oh duh?

Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
Do that.

Speaker 3 (01:00:16):
It's right next to It's right next to a barbecue
joint in a truck shop. This Scooter's Coffee, Swadley's Barbecue,
and Wen and the Alumni Association of the Southwestern Christian University.
I want what I wonder what UTSA paint for this?
You think they had to bust there. They're not going
to fly to San Antonio from there?

Speaker 6 (01:00:37):
Right?

Speaker 8 (01:00:38):
No way?

Speaker 2 (01:00:39):
All right? It's actually inside of minim is not What
was the school down the street that SFA played that
one year h no, no, no, I set you up
for that. The one that was in an office building
down on fifty nine. Yeah, that was so embarrassing.

Speaker 3 (01:01:00):
They where they they played the endless They didn't stop
the clock in a second. They were a spirit Halloween
store and then they were college the next week.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
Oh I can't find it. Oh my god, that was
so terrible. SFA had to go to a non stop clock.
Was it Warner?

Speaker 3 (01:01:21):
It was Warner wasn't what No it was? It opened
up the twenty twenty four season. Whoever their opener was
in twenty twenty four. I think they had like eleven players.

Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
Warner it was. It's is called Warner, just playing old Warner,
Warner Warner.

Speaker 5 (01:01:35):
What are you going?

Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
Collars? Made up school? Made up school?

Speaker 3 (01:01:38):
Or Division one opponent, a Division three opponent of SFA,
believe it or not today Warner College. That there it
is seven one three two one two Warner College. You
can get your hair cut there, you can get your
teeth fixed, you can play a Division ONEAA team in football.
To watch funny game to watch seven one three two
one two five seven nine. If you want to chem

(01:01:59):
me in, it's time forgot feelings. We want your sports predictions.
Get him in right now at seven one three, two
one two five, seven ninety at eleven twenty eight, back
with those gut feelings next on seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
Eleven thirty three. Time now for gut feelings.

Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
This is the segment where you get to call in
at seven one three two one two five, seven ninety
and make your predictions. If you get them right, we
bragged to byThe them and we get do you get
to call back and say, hey, I got this gut
feeling right. If you get it wrong, listener, Pat Lee absurd,
we don't make fun of you now at this point, Brad,
I reserved to write them always make fun. Brad is
not on the line, thank god. So what has he

(01:02:33):
been doing?

Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
He's fine?

Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
Didn't sign didn't he gut feeling I'd be off the show?
Somebody tweeted me, Well, he got feeling that he was
questioning why I got uh, I got to keep my
job and Shawn Salisbury did not yea, and then we're
gonna ban him, And then you didn't and then he apologized.

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
A soft spot for brand New. I don't know why.

Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
No, he did go to Vegas with us back when
I cared about my Twitter followers. Now I got nothing
but spam and high school recruits coming after me. At
sports MT. You know what, I haven't been able to
plug my Instagram I even either. I'm ten away from
thirteen hundred at sports RV, I would appreciate it. Let
me tell you something. I've looked at Ross's. He's done,
but I think he was gone for like eight or

(01:03:09):
nine days. You sent one video up. That's two stories, Okay,
not good. I put a sixty fps story up of
the falls that I that I uh tiked too.

Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
If if you love the Rockets, the Astros, and the
Texans follow sports MT.

Speaker 3 (01:03:24):
You want false promises. You said that the Cougars were
gonna beat West Virginia if I followed you, and then
they got their ass whooped. That was because the officiating
was very sketchy. Okay, listen, everybody, you know I've not
sent you stuff in a long time at sports MT.
At sports MT, you did so I was gone. You
didn't pimp your Instagram at all, Then go get the
ten year back on. That's what I'm saying. I'm seven

(01:03:46):
away from three fifty seven, just seven people. I don't
need forty of you today. I just take seven of you.
You know what, follow sports MT nice. We're gonna grow
the show somehow.

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
You gotta do that, all right.

Speaker 3 (01:04:00):
See my first gut feeling, oh from last week, let
me go, let me write these down. Oh yeah, we
got a recap. We got a recap. I wrote these
down too. Let me see what I did with them.

Speaker 2 (01:04:09):
It was on eleven eleven, on Remembrance Day, Jonathan I
bragged about having these gut feelings that I had.

Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
Little card here, it is here, it is gez uh empty.
Rockets win all three at home ding Okay, chick Texans
beat the Titans by at least ten. That's a loss.

Speaker 2 (01:04:30):
Yeah, Texas plus six and a half loss, yikes.

Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
JB comes back to be determined. Astros dots the Astros. Yeah,
Astros do not get Dylan cease. That's also to be determined. Okay, Jonathan, Rockets.

Speaker 2 (01:04:49):
Go two and one wrong. That's good, it's good. It's fine.

Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
You had Denver beating Kansas City, so good for you
on that. That was that was a spike pick because
he was being salty torture.

Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
He looks like a dub. That's right, all right, So
I can now get rid of this card. Okay, seven, one,
threebody else was on? No, just two of us? Okay, No,
it was a lot of tabs, oh Cole, Oh, Cole's ones. Uh,
he's got uh from bar Valdez going to the Baltimore Orioles.
Hold on, I got to make a cold tab now,

(01:05:24):
a lot of tabs and gets rid of this. Uh,
David Baker one? Noah can get rid of that one.
David Risk. A lot of tabs, way too many tabs.
Please stick, please stay, jes then we need you to stay.
I met your girl. I give her oh yeah, and
uh she said he gave a really good dad hug.

(01:05:44):
It was a really good hugg. You hugged her? Yeah,
because I felt like we were a fam.

Speaker 8 (01:05:49):
Yeah you are.

Speaker 11 (01:05:50):
She liked that.

Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Better watch out, Jonathan, you might take my girl. Man,
he's not taking her.

Speaker 5 (01:05:54):
But but what.

Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
Make sure those hands are moving? You don't think I'm handy?

Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
Do you had?

Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
We had Craig? What does he wasn't gonna do anything. Yeah,
Craig was there too. He met crag.

Speaker 3 (01:06:10):
Okay, what did Cole say? Sorry, I'm writing this time
fromer did the Baltimore Orioles. And he also he also
believes that that Lane staying at ole Miss. Oh did
you put that too? I'm gonna say it now. Okay,
go ahead, Lane Kiffin says it ole Miss. Okay, Texans
lose by at least seven on Thursday. Line is five

(01:06:33):
and a half right now, yep, I would take Bills,
giving the Texans the five and a half and take
the Buffalo Bills to win the game.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Okay, remember you know what my prediction record is lousy.
I'm feeling pretty should be very excited that I'm taking
Buffalo Minuts to five and a half?

Speaker 1 (01:06:48):
Now?

Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
Has this line moved? Is this assuming that CJ. Stroud
is not playing? Didn't open up at three and a half?
I thought, yeah, so I think so?

Speaker 13 (01:06:54):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:06:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
Yeah. When he wasn't out there yesterday, there wasn't the
golden sign to say he was going to play.

Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
The smell those versus the Bills. The Bills have a
good pass defense as well. Their run defense is terrible,
but you can't run. They have a twenty ninth or
thirtieth ranked run defense, and you have the twenty ninth
or thirtieth ranked run offense.

Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
The Stoppable Force, the Movable Object. Thursday Night on Prime
Video and locally on some channel. I think it's Fox.
Somebody said Fox earlier. That is correct. Yeah, I will
be watching them. I love Prime Video.

Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
The picture is great, and then they have that next
gen stats alternate broadcast.

Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
Now, let me ask you this, if.

Speaker 3 (01:07:33):
I would rather watch it on the over the air
because don't have to worry about the Internet goof of
me around faster. But no, I got a good strong internet, which,
by the way, you're gonna hear from my internet company tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
By the way, the last time nobody got time for that.
Uh oh, look him. That's what I'm gonna name them
by name Exfinity.

Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
By the way, the last time Josh Allen took on
the buff the Houston Texans, it was October of twenty
twenty four. He was nine of for one hundred and
thirty one yards, nine to thirty. That's terrible.

Speaker 7 (01:08:04):
M h.

Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
Coming to the doghouse. Baby, gonna get sworn before that.
That's why I'm picking the Texans to cover the five
and a half against the Buffalo Bills. His mark let
me give you his career number. Four week home dog
fifty one percent career for Josh Allen against the Texans
for seven hundred and twenty seven yards m h. His

(01:08:27):
best performance was in twenty twenty one, twenty thirty for
two forty eight. And I'm gonna presume that game was
in Uh was that in Houston or in Buffalo? Texans
have gone to Buffalo the last few years, I know,
for some time.

Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
So I think we have.

Speaker 3 (01:08:45):
I think this is one breaking new center. Go ahead,
I haven't seen it, Jonathan m Alexander. I'm expecting this
might be two. Well, you mean the other one can guess? Yeah,
Jalen Peter's playing CJ.

Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
Stroud expected to practice in a limited capacity today. Oh
that's no, no, another one. Hold on, I didn't read
at all what The likeness he plays is extremely low.
I'm sorry. That's my fault.

Speaker 4 (01:09:12):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
I didn't read the whole tweet. Shut you, bud, you
can tell you know what, give me a shut your
bums that I didn't read the whole tweet. I got excited.

Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
I got excited, you know, I'm battle red Ross.

Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
Never mind, I'm so sorry. You know, I like to apologize.
You know, I'm gonna write that down for Friday. Sorry,
I'll put it this way. I'll say this, if he's
doing this today. My guess is that the game was
on Sunday, he'd probably be able to play. Maybe we'll
just fighting the clock here a little bit. All right,
So here we here's our situation. We got Gary in

(01:09:46):
Spring Gary like I love Gary. Gary is not very bright.

Speaker 2 (01:09:49):
Gary is the coat. No he's not, Yes he is.
And he got James in Kline.

Speaker 3 (01:09:53):
I mean they're both kind of on a scale of
one to ten, they're about a three and a half
out of ten on calls.

Speaker 2 (01:09:59):
Would you say generally?

Speaker 7 (01:10:00):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
No, oh you say lower or higher? James is fine.
I mean we fight about the longhorns. But I appreciate him.
He attempts his attempt at humored very low doesn't work,
you know what. He calls in though, and I appreciate him.

Speaker 4 (01:10:14):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
We love Gary, Gary, We love James. We tolerate Gary. No,
I love Gary and I tolerate James.

Speaker 7 (01:10:19):
No.

Speaker 3 (01:10:19):
Gary, by the way, apparently called the earlier show and
said that I'm not I'm a negative Nancy. Yeah, Matt,
you don't want do they call me? They call me
a realistic rob, They call you Texans hater, Matt. No,
they call me Texas realist.

Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
Matt. You know they call me. They call me the insider.

Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
I've given you everything I've told you about the Texans
has come to pass one never going to the super
Bowl while McNair's run things, and I'm amended that to
the Cassario's number two. I told you that uh C J.
Garner Johnson was a disaster and he was. I told
you Stefan Diggs was not worthy of a second round
picking it hits.

Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
And I told you he was fine. He wasn't worth it.
You know what he recu I didn't stay here? Yeah
for nothing, zero zilch. Well he tores a wasn' gonna
play this? Yere who tanked Dell? Okay, the guy who
wrecked every look am it at his knees? Unavailable?

Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
A good one, Matt.

Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
I'm just thanks you for your your opprescient analysis.

Speaker 1 (01:11:09):
On that one.

Speaker 3 (01:11:09):
I'm just tired of being right. Oh my god, I
pull up the list if you want on texting stuff.
I don't miss taking me some wrong text and stuff.
I did have the Texas winning by ten because I'm
positive ten. I'm a positive guy when it comes to textasm.
Just you had them losing to the Jaguars wrong. Yeah,
badficiating okay, and I had them losing to Buffalo Thursday.

Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
We'll see me be wrong. We'll see all right on.

Speaker 3 (01:11:35):
The phones next eleven forty three, it is a Matt
Thomas show with Ross with positive Matt realistic, Rob, you're
a negative, real negative, Nancy. No, you know what you are,
your battle red and that just you have no no objectivity.
I don't think I got one from Allen in prediction
Jonathan Allen, Dad, Jonathan. We'll get to We'll start with

(01:11:55):
Jonathan and we'll go to Gary and James and Thomas show.
That's me and Ross Ross real quick for go the phones.

Speaker 1 (01:12:02):
Time to play a name?

Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
Who said this? You ready?

Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
When it regards when it's concerning Joe Mixon, it's a
very great situation.

Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Joe's worked at it. There were times where he made
some progress, and then there's some other times the progress
is constalled.

Speaker 7 (01:12:17):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:12:18):
Obviously we're getting pretty late in the game here, and
I don't want to establish any sort of expectations. I
don't think we have any more clarity at this time.
He's out until he's not. Nick Seio, that's correct.

Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
Yes, what do I win?

Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
H from handshaking? Nanta boy, I'll take it again, You're welcome.

Speaker 3 (01:12:35):
That was Nick Casserro speaking about Joe Mixon's health status.
I was going to make a gut feeling about Joe Mixon,
about Lane Kiff and leave it, please go ahead. But
now he's denying everything and saying everything's peachy keen, hunky
dory with Pat McAfee. So now I don't know what
to think. And he and as our caller pointed out,

(01:12:57):
he's posting all these like Zen, make a big decision
and be happy. And if he's happy at all, Miss,
and he's not chasing money, he could change his mind tomorrow.
By the way, I'm staying with it. I'm saying gut
feeling that Lane Kiffin stays at all, Miss. But you know,
on something I don't know. No, I don't have a

(01:13:17):
gut feeling. What if I don't have What if my
gud feeling is I don't know, then just him and Hall.
It's okay to say I don't know him in hall,
him in Hall, Kay.

Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
To not know everything here is a miss segment is
called not gun feeling, is called the hym and.

Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
Hall and admit that I don't know everything. I'm the
hymn of the hall. I don't, so I will not
be making a gud feeling is going you should? I
don't know anything either, I still made one.

Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
Yeah, well you have a gut feeling and I don't
to my own self be true, Matt, Dude, this game
with Utsa is on ESPN National. No it's not okay,
I don't think all right, Uh, let's go to Gary
in spring. Gary, you're on with positivity. Matt, how the
hell are you?

Speaker 8 (01:13:59):
Hey? You didn't say the rest of the stuff I
said on there. I said that that you started negative,
but the rest of your show you changed and you
completed with You completed the show with a smile on
your face.

Speaker 5 (01:14:11):
See you know what?

Speaker 12 (01:14:12):
You know what?

Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
Then I blame the previous show because they said Gary
calls you a negative Nancy, And I'm like, wait a minute,
Gary and I in a decent place.

Speaker 8 (01:14:19):
You know what.

Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Damn Matt, you shut your bump ass up, shout up.
You hopefully start throw the last for two more weeks.
I hope it doesn't.

Speaker 8 (01:14:25):
You just said something that my father told me is
I've grown up?

Speaker 1 (01:14:31):
He said.

Speaker 8 (01:14:31):
The three smartest words a man can say is I
don't know. Hey, can I get to my to my
gut feeling, go for it. Okay, I'm gonna give you
the final score, and then I'm gonna tell you why,
real quick final score Texans twenty three Buffalo nineteen. Who
reason is is as to follows the last seven games,

(01:14:53):
the Texans are five and two, so they're doing whatever
it takes to win. They have the best defense in
all the foot ball. Uh, and they're they're at home,
of course, and uh, there's gonna be seventy thousand scream
and screaming fanatic. Then that's going to keep them in
the game.

Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
Okay, you don't watch Texans games. They're not seventy thousand screaming.

Speaker 8 (01:15:15):
Ever, I've watched every Texan game that since they started. Also,
the uniform is U is the red. But what I
like about best about that uniform is that they have
the best bar no not even close helmet in all
of the NFL. That red helmet with that shine on
it is so pretty. And the last, but not least,

(01:15:36):
with my hopeful gut feeling here, I hope the whole
time they do the wave the whole time, just for you, Matt.

Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
Yep, that you show you the four quarters of the wave.
Four quarter that's a lot of work. Yeah, I'm tired.
Do you ever see the wave in the NFL? I
never see I've seen it NRG Remember with JJ Wye
got all upset. Yeah, because he was right, because JJ's
God and he knows what you're talking about. Stupid wave,
it's dumb wavebusters.

Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
Ho use a Twitter cat you should follow and if
you go see the wave of the game on Thursday,
let me know, we'll out the frauds there there.

Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
Hold on, I'm looking at Jeff Passons a free agency preview.
Oh jeez, don't just stop. You're gonna win. We just listen,
you know what. Can we knock this out?

Speaker 8 (01:16:23):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
No, no, you did all your preening and pat yourself
on the back when you won the pregnant bet. These
chickens are coming home to roost. Bobby Bouche my gut feelings,
I hope you're wrong.

Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
My gut feeling. Is you getting a wallet out? Well,
maybe the phone if you want to tap apple Pie.

Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
They take third party out, say checks, and they just
don't care what they take as long as you're paying.
James and Klein, what is in your gut this week?

Speaker 5 (01:16:55):
Okay?

Speaker 13 (01:16:55):
This is a two Parter the number seventeen Texas Longhorns.
Wells easily get past Arkansas because the receivers will start
catching the ball. We'll go from seventeen to thirteen, and
the game of all games will be undefeated Texas A
and M against Texas. If Texas can win that game,
guess he's in the playoffs. The Texas Longhorns.

Speaker 11 (01:17:14):
That's my good thing.

Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
Okay, the long Horns getting in.

Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
Okay, that they're gonna get jumped by a non power
four team, right, long Horns would because they're ahead of
every Power four team right now. Yes, it can potentially
get jumped by who's the ACC champ? I can't remember.
It was Virginia twelve champ. One of those other champs
can jump them as well. So just because they make

(01:17:38):
the top twelve does not mean they're in. Probably gonna
have to make the top ten, and that's gonna be tough.
All right, Well, I think he didn't have a second
gut feeling and he hung up. Yeah I didn't do anything, well,
not not worse than What about you? Jonathan?

Speaker 2 (01:17:55):
He Johnathan, what do you got? I forgot your bunch
of guts?

Speaker 12 (01:17:57):
Oh yeah, okay, we come back we said Rockets will
be on a seven game win streak.

Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
Hm hmm. And then my my core got feeling. I
feel it in my bones. Chiefs fall of five and
six and that woo. I love this Vendetta. He is
on the warpath. Jan, you are on the war path.

Speaker 5 (01:18:23):
You are learning.

Speaker 8 (01:18:24):
Well.

Speaker 2 (01:18:26):
One time my hotel was actually upset with math. I
was like, there's no way.

Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
So much.

Speaker 2 (01:18:34):
I ain't why. I'm not even really defending Canvas City.
I'm just telling you what I see.

Speaker 3 (01:18:37):
I'm saying, I see, I see blemishes on all the
three teams in front of them. I just do Should
I be alarmed that Texas Arkansas line went from ten
and a half to eight and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Well, it's a lot of this Desmond Howard stuff. If
you did not hear where does Howard moved the line?
Two points?

Speaker 3 (01:18:53):
If you do not hear what Dez Howard said, We're
gonna play coming back during the news at noon eleven
fifty seven on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:19:04):
Is The Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 3 (01:19:12):
Twelve o one on Sports Talk seven ninety. It is
our number three of The Matt Thomas Show with Ross.
This program takes you until two o'clock today, I'm gonna
uh skip out a little early and get to at
one o'clock head to the airport for the Rockets trip
to Cleveland, Ohio.

Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
You're shaking your head for you just came off vacation.
I'm sure I'm shaving days. I'm not, you know, yeah,
paid vacation that I earned. Yeah, I'm not taking all
my pay vacation. I'm living days left. Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:19:40):
Of course we don't need feelings, but that's a non
inditiontive for a different time. But hey, Ross, is good
to have you with us here on the show. It
ain't good to have all of you with us here
on the program. And we are with you till two
o'clock today at seven, one, three, seven, and then we
got the NFL RE one coming up at one twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
But right now we present to you the news at noon.
Ooh this is me? Yeah usually, Oh, well, thank you, Matt.

Speaker 3 (01:20:05):
Do you think we should hire a female news anchor
to come and sit with us and give us the headlines?

Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
I don't think we can afford her. Yeah, how much
was we how much pay out of your bucket? I
don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:20:15):
You want your girl to come do it. Oh, I
don't know, Chris. Some tension, what tension she likes kind
of tension being in a studio with us and she's
getting more airtime in Johnathan is it could be a big,
big problem. I'm not all right, go ahead, all right, Matt.

Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
Well it's uh slow new day newsday here us not
we got wexexs.

Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
Saying yeah, it's okay. So the latest Jonathan Alexander, c J.
Stroud is practicing in a limited capacity. There is video
of him out on the field, but Jonathan M. Alexander
saying that he's unlikely that CJ. Stroud is ready to
go by Thursday, saying, quote, theoretically, if you passed every test,
he could be cleared by Thursday. But this would be

(01:21:00):
more than likely in preparation for the November thirtieth game
versus the Colts, Texans' main priority is his health. Even
if he is like, well, you know, it's not fair.
I was gonna say, if it's one hundred percent ready
to go, he'd play.

Speaker 1 (01:21:15):
But he's not.

Speaker 3 (01:21:16):
I mean, if there's if you are him and in
hall about it all, there's no him in a hawn
and you wait to the Colts game. I mean, you've
won back to back games with Davis Mills. Crazier things
have happened. And again, Josh Allen does not have a
distinguished career against a Texan. You're not a great game.
They're not a great team on the road. They got
a long trip to come down here a short week home.
Dogs are not a bad play in a general sense.

Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
But we'll see. But we don't worry about Vegas in
this situation. We're worried about the texts making the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (01:21:43):
I know you're not worried about it. You can't cover
by Vegas and make the plays a very very easy
litmus test to tell you how or games could go.

Speaker 2 (01:21:51):
Okay, Texans lose this one by a touchdown this week
we'll see, Yes we will Thursday, seven twenty. What was
the line last week? Six and a half? Okay, they
did not come it won by three? Right, yeah on
the final play the game. Well deserved, hard fought win
for the Houston Texans. I mean, fall asleep during the

(01:22:11):
game A zero twice for me? Zero. Maybe you need
to stay off the heroin. Well, not enough h heroin
makes you false get sleepy. I think so.

Speaker 3 (01:22:22):
I never had a heroin before, So I can't speak
to Okay, I'm curious nothing, Yeah, moved on. Uh well,
police say two hundred thousand dollars in property was stolen
from Chador Sanders home during the game. Now this has
been happening. It happened to Joe Burrow. Who else does
it happen. It's been happening a lot in the homes

(01:22:42):
Travis Kelsey. Two hundred thousand dollars in property stolen from
the home of Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shadoor Sanders during
a break in on Sunday. According to police, three suspects
entered his home at six forty six pm Eastern Time.
According to the news release, surveillance cameras in the home
capture video footage of the suspect entering and exiting different portions.

Speaker 2 (01:23:02):
Of the home.

Speaker 3 (01:23:03):
They're wearing masks and gloves and seen exiting his home
around six fifty eight pm. So in and out there
about twelve minutes. Do you know what, Today's robbers are
not scared anymore. They don't care about cameras, they don't
care about dogs, they don't care about surveillances. They're going in.
I was watching the Today Show today. What the Hilton mom,

(01:23:25):
Kathy Hilton had a bunch of handbags?

Speaker 5 (01:23:27):
Stir.

Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
Yeah, Paris's mom had a bunch of handbags on while
she was at the BRABO event in Las Vegas. Well,
why didn't I thought cameras were going to solve these
issues and alarms?

Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
What happened?

Speaker 3 (01:23:38):
I don't know, maybe his inside job disabling these cameras
or alarms or something. I don't know, but it's happening
to a lot of very famous people, sports athletes and
just general people celebrities. Did you hear the story Matt
about New York Giants first round pick at Duel Carter?
I did not sleeping through a meeting and was benched

(01:23:59):
in the open series of the New York Giants loss
of the Green Bay Packers. Carter said that new head
coach Mike Kafka changed the normal practice. Wait, Brian Dobu
Dable got fire rolls.

Speaker 2 (01:24:10):
Yes he did.

Speaker 3 (01:24:11):
Yes, I didn't realize that my mistake was an honest mistake.
I owned the fact that it was an honest mistake.
I was getting treatment and I told coach Kafka that too.
But to say that I was sleeping at that time
just wasn't true, and it also wasn't a trend. This
is the only time it happened. Reports had come out
that he had slept through a meeting, and he'd been
sleeping through meetings for weeks, but Abdul Carter says that

(01:24:34):
is not true and it was an honest mistake.

Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
He was just receiving treatment. Believe him or not.

Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
Ah, that was a not mmmmmm, that isnot okay. Mike Kafka,
former Northwestern quarterback, former fourth round panel twenty ten. Yeah,
Mike Kafka. They won some games with Mike Kafka.

Speaker 2 (01:24:55):
I think back of the day I wanted to the
Texans lose to on Mike Kafka that quarterback game point maybe,
and theyames just more familiar than it would be just
for him being an interim coach of the Giants.

Speaker 3 (01:25:05):
I know, uh what else we got. I got into
something for you. Lebron James not going to play in
the twenty twenty eight Olympics. Steph Curry says is very
unlikely that he will be playing. James said, quote, you
already know my answer. I will be watching it and
see will be forty three years old. During the twenty
twenty eight Olympics. Steph Curry will have just turned forty

(01:25:27):
years old, and today's NBA player at thirty five plus
doing just fine, especially one that worries number seven for
the Houston Rockets.

Speaker 2 (01:25:35):
Are you speaking of Kevin Durant. I am speaking to
Kevin Durant.

Speaker 3 (01:25:37):
Okay, you're nervous at all about the depth chart being
hit a little bit now that you've got Tarisa out
four to six weeks. Yes, it's about an eight man rotation.
Now if you count holiday and Tate, that makes ten.
But those guys don't play a whole lot.

Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
No, they don't. I am a little worried about it.
For sure.

Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
Your first set of back to backs are coming up
in early December or it'll be after Thanksgiving. But it's
in the same city against Utah Jazz. So I think
Ama is going to figure about that depth chart eventually.
Here does I don't think about. I think he's shown
he doesn't mind going to a short rotation. No, I
mean again, NBA in twenty twenty five doesn't like doing that.
Emma Doka says, I'm trying to win games. Yeah, and

(01:26:19):
one more sad note, if you guys want to check
on the social media streets.

Speaker 2 (01:26:23):
You're more than welcome to do that.

Speaker 3 (01:26:24):
Patrick Beverly, former friend of the show, in some serious,
serious hot water after allegedly choking his sister in a
family dispute. And again, I don't want to go into
great details on it because it's all just off of
what we're hearing off the police report, but he has
been arrested with third degree felony charges.

Speaker 2 (01:26:47):
I didn't see that.

Speaker 3 (01:26:49):
And nutshell, his sister snuck out to see a boy.
Mom told Patrick to come home. Pat took the sister
and beat the hell out of her, which is unfortunate.

Speaker 2 (01:27:02):
Hmmm, uh, well this happened a few days ago.

Speaker 3 (01:27:07):
Yeah, okay, Because hen he posts on Instagram, Pat Beverly
has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his little sister,
a young lady, a minor, given that when he unexpectedly
found her alone in the home with an eighteen year
old man in the middle of the night, he was
understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister. However,
we don't believe what followed happened the way it's been described,
and we look forward to the opportunity to address that

(01:27:28):
in court. Texts from Adam Wexler see jazz practicing Petrian
fair baron two. You probably already saw that, but anyway,
as Texans reporter, I thought I should tell you, Yes,
thank you Texans wex Yeah, he knows he's the reporter.
I'm the insider. Now he's the insider.

Speaker 2 (01:27:47):
No, I get the start. Just give us the dirt.
What story I gave which stor'd you have a break?

Speaker 3 (01:27:51):
Joe Mixon? Where'd you break it on this show? On
Where's where's your tweet? Or your story or anyone? I
don't need to I don't need to self congratulate. So
you're the only insider that doesn't write story. A couple
people listening to the show, I know, I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (01:28:03):
And that's just the news at noon in twelve ten,
all right, oh you're gonna puty Desmon Howard for those
who didn't catch it the noon hour, Sure, why not?
Right now?

Speaker 11 (01:28:10):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
Desmin Howard went on his h on his uh oh,
definitely his Twitter account, and it gave us a little
nugget about what's going on in Austin, Texas.

Speaker 9 (01:28:20):
Here it is thinking, don't be surprised if that Texas
job opens up at the end of the season. You
guys were shocked when LSU opened up. Imagine how you're
gonna feel if that job in Austin pops open. I'm
not calling or saying anyone's gonna get fired. Maybe a

(01:28:44):
mutual parting of waves you dig anyway, you guys, have
a great Monday.

Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
This is counter parting the way so you can go
to the NFL. It's callous. What do you mean? This
is the way of the world. So you know what
I'm to do? Why don't Why don't you and I
just do some.

Speaker 3 (01:29:04):
Random videos and just put a bunch of crazy ass
stuff out there and not attribute it and go.

Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
You know what, Hey, don't be surprised. Don't be surprised.
It's in the wind, this in the the whispers in
the ether.

Speaker 3 (01:29:19):
I just think Desmond knows better unless he really does,
believe there is a lot of smoke to this.

Speaker 2 (01:29:24):
Is he just making this up? Is I don't know know?

Speaker 3 (01:29:27):
Follow this comes across to me as somebody called him
and said, hey, I got I got something for you.

Speaker 2 (01:29:32):
What do you got for me?

Speaker 6 (01:29:33):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
Really, Desmond Howard. I'm giving my news to Desmond Howard.
But he's just like he knows somebody who knows somebody.
He's a well recognized media personality in the college sports world,
so that's not surprising that somebody would try to Hey, Desmond,
you got this and I got something for you. There
are people all the time that want to tell you
things that.

Speaker 2 (01:29:51):
I happen to us.

Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
All I get DMS all the time, all the time.
I again, he he set himself up for a soft landing.
I'm not saying he's getting fired, and I'm saying it
could be a mutual option.

Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
You dig as in Steve Sarkisin is the new head
coach of the New York Giants.

Speaker 3 (01:30:14):
There's no better college job, correct, especially what's out there
right now, unless somebody cash whipped him.

Speaker 2 (01:30:19):
That's a Florida said, here's a blank check. But there's
no way Florida's letting Steve's our cage and go whatever
he takes. Come here and coach.

Speaker 3 (01:30:27):
No, and there's no way he's trying to wiggle some
more money out of Crystal Kante.

Speaker 2 (01:30:31):
Is he There's no chance? Who's this agent? Is he
a Jimmy Sexton guy. We's either Sexon or Trace Armstrong. Also,
the two main dudes that do it. There's a way
come on now for what what do you mean for money?

Speaker 3 (01:30:45):
These these coaches are holding these universities over a barrel.

Speaker 2 (01:30:50):
Part of me want you know what this is honestly,
the el Ross part of me wants this to be
right because he was so mad when Diana Rossini said
something about this exactly. He came out.

Speaker 3 (01:31:01):
Period and then he point his finger like Rafael palm Merrow. Yeah,
you just you start putting that indext finger. It's an
und percent lie.

Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
It just is all right.

Speaker 3 (01:31:10):
It is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross. If you
want to chime in seven one three two one two
five seven ninety seven one three two one two five seven.

Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
Why is Gordy running and getting an active minute from
his from his watch? We've seen way too much at
Gordy today. Like he must be a third wheel on
the show. Great, how about Matt Ross and company? He
can be the company part.

Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
Okay, he'd be like our sec insider because I got
Texans and Rockets covered. You've got I mean one personality
seven three one two five Sight and analysis. Somebody's gotta
keep you in line seven one three crazy ass ridiculous
stuff you're saying, I don't know I'm here to win.

Speaker 2 (01:31:46):
About you bets? Yeah, you're let's go check on that.
Did you see did you get something new today? Pass
the update one?

Speaker 5 (01:31:53):
Come back?

Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
This is terrible? Can we can?

Speaker 5 (01:31:56):
We can?

Speaker 2 (01:31:57):
I just give up and just say let's just go
for like a Randa a res Are you what? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:32:04):
Are you seizing Randa mixed bess. Let's let's downgrade the
food and pay you now and get over with. I
think I've eaten that place zero times in my life,
maybe one. I've been two or three times in the
last year. It's fine, it's you're the fast food king.

Speaker 2 (01:32:20):
I'll give you that.

Speaker 3 (01:32:21):
Yeah, yeah, I'm not gonna release say no. By the way,
I have not tried the Rby's steak nuggets yet. They
look like they're all well done, which is that sign
cook steak?

Speaker 2 (01:32:30):
So why would you?

Speaker 3 (01:32:31):
Why would I want to nuggets of nuggets of of
well done steak. Well, I'm sure they got the low
grade great f cows. Well, it's probably sir, I don't yeah,
I don't think it's probably his prime New York strip
in those nuggets.

Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
Deer knuckles, deer knuckles. Oh I've got to met Oh
hell yeah, I've had oh yeah, you're a liar. You
haven't got it.

Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
By the way, we tucked mc ram on the show
last week, Jonathan did. We had to have lots of
people on our side. It was very wholesome. Wait, you're
you're a you're a McRib guy. I'm like, I don't
hate it. I don't hate it.

Speaker 2 (01:33:03):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (01:33:03):
See pork gunk gets caught up in the machines of
the plant that they're like, all right, let's go and.

Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
Call it a seasoned pork paddy.

Speaker 3 (01:33:10):
They get pork gunk and it gets accumulates and they're like,
all right, we need to go. We need to go
ahead and pry this out of here. And listen to me, ladies,
sham I need you to shame Ross right now. All
my lovers that sent me tweets last week, sick at
sports Army and get them do another Twitter poll.

Speaker 2 (01:33:26):
You lose every time. I don't care about your people.
My people love the people.

Speaker 3 (01:33:30):
Everybody with a brain in their head knows that nasty
pork pork pressed sheet is disgusting.

Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
It is delicious. The sauce is bad. By the way,
the new key my wife extra barbecue sauce. It makes
it even.

Speaker 3 (01:33:41):
Taste why don't you get extra motor oil on it,
because that's what's in there. Sorry McDonald's Corporation, don't assume
me that was a joke. Ha haha, l O L
hashtag suspension coming. Oh jesus, Yeah, ross is a mcgrib
question up today. Good not good?

Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
Nice and simple h fort say good, fifty say not good.
That's fine. You must have just voted. I did, yeah, duh,
swinging the votes. By the way, my my metal son
doesn't get the onions and pickles on it, but that's
part of the charm of the sandwich.

Speaker 3 (01:34:17):
Yeah, you gotta dress up that he put some lipstick
on that pig, somehow delicious pig, and distract you from
that nasty gristle sheet. All right, So let's get to it.
This is Jeff passing once again. No further hurting my
pocketbook on this talk of my free agents. By the
way of players in what kind of contract and deals

(01:34:39):
they could be. There is unquestionably the top player among
free agents this winter ops plus of one hundred and
forty and the power speed defense combination that will secure
him at least three hundred million and perhaps four hundred
million dollars.

Speaker 2 (01:34:59):
I'm going to follow my on this. This that's a
bad deal.

Speaker 3 (01:35:02):
The team that signs him to a deal of more
than ten years is going to regret it one percent.
We're not we are not ever and Ross, You and
are and be stuck together for at least ten more years. Okay,
listen to me, very care for jobs, right, at least
ten more years. The team that takes that signs Kyle
Tucker for ten years is going to regret it. And frankly,

(01:35:23):
it's not an indictment against Kyle Tucker Ross, it's an
indictment against the contract teams are paying out crazy, crazy
contracts and money. Look, Wan Soto, do you think they're
gonna regret it in New York long term? Absolutely, they
will in a matter of time.

Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
Well, you have to.

Speaker 3 (01:35:38):
Overpay for the prime to take some on the back end,
and in ten years you figure revenues have gone up
in thirty million dollars, thirty five or forty million dollars
hasn't hurt as much. That's the line of thinking. Jim Crane,
on the other hand, he just pays for the back
end when they're losing on it. Yeah, you're thirty five
and terrible.

Speaker 2 (01:35:57):
Yeah, let's sign you down. We've had a few of
those week. Of course, I'm the assistant general. We're good,
Christian Walker.

Speaker 3 (01:36:02):
Yeah, let's pay for the decline. You pay for the decline,
but you also get the prime. That's the point of
the big deals. And ultimately, whoever Kyle goes to, they
can afford it. And if it goes to the Dodgers,
it's afforded till two thousand and ninety nine. Is is
Tucker gonna take a bunch of deferred money? Can you

(01:36:23):
get deferred money when you're in the home?

Speaker 2 (01:36:26):
What home? A nursing home? Like wherever he's gonna you know,
he's final rust he's going. I don't think he's going
to be in a nursing home. Yeah, it's probably gonna
be retired in his castle with a personal caretaker. Yeah
that's fine. Uh okay, So what do we hit? What
did pass and say again? Three hundred to four hundred million?
How many years? He didn't put years on it, but

(01:36:48):
he called him the top free agent available if.

Speaker 3 (01:36:49):
He wants to make forty million dollars a year, I'm
okay with that times seven seven to eighty sounds about right.

Speaker 2 (01:36:56):
Let's go keep going, keeping some other people in the list.

Speaker 3 (01:36:59):
Let's go, Oh you want top free agents? Yeah, to
give us some people that we would be we would
absolutely know who they are. It would maybe even be
quasi appillion of the ass Kyle Schwarber, who all right
is apparently the Red Sox are going to be interested,
possibly the Blue Jays as well New York Mets.

Speaker 2 (01:37:21):
By the way, Red Sox are going to make some
moves because if they're letting Bragman walk ROSSI.

Speaker 3 (01:37:27):
They're gonna have to go. They've got money. They have
to show that they are willing to spend money in
free agency. I can't imagine Red Sox not being grabbing
at least one, if not too heavy, top end.

Speaker 2 (01:37:38):
Free agents this offseason.

Speaker 3 (01:37:40):
Uh do you want to hear the first three teams
see list says interested in Kyle Tucker.

Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
Matt Yankee Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (01:37:49):
That is exactly correct, man, I'm screwed. Then the Giants are,
perhaps even the Orioles. I was gonna ask all of
you out there listening if it bothers you. The Astros
never been brought up in this, but we've been okay,

(01:38:09):
never will. It's imagine being Reds fan, Guardians fan, a
fan of the Pirates, fan of the Marlins. You're never
even like your passesn't doesn't even have to type the
word Marlins, then erase it. It's not even in his vernacular.

Speaker 2 (01:38:25):
Ever. Yeah, there are fifteen teams Ross maybe excuse me,
there are twenty to twenty two teams that never get
in these articles written.

Speaker 3 (01:38:35):
Yeah, the Astros aren't riding in Bentley's enrolls Royces. They
are nice SUV's, nice Mercedes red Zay. You're in a
nineteen ninety three Toyota Selica. Yeah, uh, Pirates, you're in
one of those. What's what's the really super silly?

Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
You're a smart car? Smart car? Yeah, Kia Soul. The
kids even know what a Yugo is. You know what
a Yugo is. There's no chance. There's no chance he does,
you know, No, you know, no.

Speaker 8 (01:39:06):
Like that.

Speaker 3 (01:39:06):
When my wife and I were young, we didn't have
any kids. We were just buying our first place. We said, hey,
let's let's go cheap on cars, let's go get and
I said, let's go get a Ford Focus.

Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
And my dumbass said, why don't we get two of them?

Speaker 5 (01:39:20):
Why?

Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
It's like, oka, no way, I can't put children in
a ford focus. I said, what children? Eh, ges, honey,
guess what. That's how you found out how I found out. Oh,
that's crazy. Your life was changed for forever. That was twenties,
so it was twenty six years ago.

Speaker 3 (01:39:42):
All right, okay, so what else we got? Oh from
reveled Thiss, we got on forore. We have one from
let me look, uh, Mets, Cubs, Red Sox, Orioles, Blue Jays. Again,
it's about the same seven or eight teams. Yeah, but
once you get pass those guys, then everybody's market goes
way down. That's their market in this It's like you're

(01:40:04):
at an auction house and then there's five billionaires and
then there's twenty five guys who are trying to be
sensible and look for a good deal. Well that's what
happens when you do those fantasy football drafts. Say, yeah,
same exact thing.

Speaker 2 (01:40:17):
That's a good point. Although everybody has the same amount
of money.

Speaker 3 (01:40:19):
So let me ask you if I have been predicting,
not necessarily, but I don't think you disagree with me
that we're gonna give a massive lockout in baseball next year.

Speaker 2 (01:40:25):
It seems like it.

Speaker 3 (01:40:26):
How do you lock out when you have two different
sets of owners. That's what I'm That's what I'm wondering.
Not only is there gonna be division between the players
and the owners, They're gonna be division within owners and owners.

Speaker 2 (01:40:35):
At least the NFL owners, the NBA owners. They're all
in the same page in theory. Don't you look. Don't
you look at what the Dodgers are doing and say,
I just cannot compete with them?

Speaker 3 (01:40:45):
And I was like, I don't care. It's like we're
playing a different sport. It's almost like they're in a
different league. It's like they're in league League one and
you're in League two, like having soccer, like you're in
the second league, and you're not gonna be able to
compete no matter what you do. I just can't imagine
the owner of the Marlins and the owner of the
Dodgers sitting down and going, hey, we can work on
this together, because they have two different agendas. And if

(01:41:09):
the Dodgers owners telling the Marlins owner we can work together,
he's lying, right. My guess is just going to ultimately
be an additional threshold of taxing for the super big
players or they're not allowed to first pay the higher taxes,
higher taxes and no maybe no deferred payments. They gotta
do or at least a deferred payments count against the threshold. Yeah,

(01:41:32):
now a certain percentage of them does. I don't know
what if that is, but they need to raise that
best side I'm telling you ross the bottom fifteen teams,
meaning the half they want a salary cap.

Speaker 2 (01:41:43):
The Marlins want to be able to compete with the Dodgers.
So the only way the Packers can compete with the
Rams and the Cowboys and the Jets and the Giants
and the Chicago Bear, I mean, you have to allow
the mid level market teams a puncher's chance.

Speaker 3 (01:41:59):
And if you don't have a camp, you'll never get
that opportunity. And another thing, by the way, maybe more
randomly sharing of financial of dollars on TV deals local
TV deals because the Laker, because the LA Dodgers get
holatious amounts of money off their TV deal and I
know they do, Sara Shama, but they don't share all
of it. They're still getting more money from their local

(01:42:19):
TV deal and then Tampa Bay Rays would ever get
in a million years.

Speaker 2 (01:42:23):
You maybe pull everything together. But again, if you're the Dodgers,
Oh yeah, No, I'm believing this pooling baloney. Wouldn't do it. No,
why would they? So who's gonna fight more?

Speaker 3 (01:42:33):
Is it gonna be the owners fighting with each other,
or the font or the owners somehow collectively coming together
and saying we gotta go again against these players Dodgers, Mets, Yankees, you.

Speaker 2 (01:42:42):
Know, Phillies, Blue Jay or whatever they're They're outnumbered. That's
the thing too. That is true. That is true.

Speaker 3 (01:42:47):
Twelve thirty one of The Matt Thomas Show would Ross
seven one three two one two five seven. Nuntie seven
one three two one two five seven Nuntie Matt Ross
with you on this Tuesday Tomorrow. I will be in
Cleveland with the Rockets getting ready for the Rockets and Cavaliers.

(01:43:08):
On the show tomorrow, we will check in with a
reporter from WGR Radio in Buffalo. I'm always fascinated by Buffalo,
that is. I mean, do you think they own a
greater segment of their of their fan base more than
any other city, like maybe Pittsburgh and Green Bay would
be one would be like one two three with Buffalo

(01:43:30):
depending on the you know what time of the ya.

Speaker 2 (01:43:31):
What percent of fans in the city are fans. I
mean people in the city are fans. Are fans? Like,
could you grow up in upstate New York and not
be a Bills fan? No, I mean I grew up
in North Texas and wasn't a Cowboys fan. It's probably rare.
But because your family's from California. No, but I have
my family. They're all from North Texas though that just
splat it out, so that all my mom's side the

(01:43:52):
family is complex. Just thinking about that.

Speaker 3 (01:43:54):
Of thirty two NFL cities, which city owns the greater
population of their fans? Like if you were to go
find twenty rando Pittsburgh people I used to and walk
into the mall, that's probably pretty high. But I think
Bill's is probably up there. I'm not talking about your number.

(01:44:15):
I'm just trying about greater Cardinals. No, I say it
was the least Chargers in LA. Chargers Rams probably pretty
close to Apparently there's a decent amount of Rams fans.
There are decent amounts, but still, I mean, the when
the Niners go there, there's like seventy the crowd was
Niner fans, you know. The I was in La of

(01:44:36):
course last week, and I was told by some locals
that there are more Raiders fans still in LA than
there are Chargers fans. I feel that to Niners as well. Yeah,
more Raiders and Niners fans in LA than actual Chargers
Charger fan okay, LA sports fan Rams one. Yes, it
was Rams Niners than Raiders. I think Rams r there's

(01:45:00):
Niners Chargers. Yeah, you're fourth in your town. We just
moved what five years ago? I mean, I forgot free.

Speaker 7 (01:45:08):
What do it this? We?

Speaker 2 (01:45:09):
What are you? What are you the backup linebacker left
tackle for the Chargers here? They need one?

Speaker 3 (01:45:14):
Now you got if you're if you've been a Charger
for all your life, you can say weed, That's okay.

Speaker 2 (01:45:19):
That's fine all my life.

Speaker 12 (01:45:23):
Hmmm.

Speaker 2 (01:45:23):
Bears fans in Chicago's pretty big. What about Bay? To me,
the top three are green.

Speaker 3 (01:45:32):
Now Dallas is a larger fan based period because I'm
a national fans, but I'm talking about in the city
in which they're in. I would say it's gotta be
green Bay one, Pittsburgh two, Buffalo three, and I mean
it's a it's a smooch between those three. I would
put the Texans bottom ten, bottom five. I'll say it,

(01:45:53):
what's up you know, is that wrong? You go even
here's the thing, Oh Saints gotta Saints, gotta be but
they're not, They're not those top three things gotta be
up there shuts down on the Saints. That's like, okay,
maybe you know, Tyler, it's probably easier to figure out
who doesn't fall. Okay, here are cities that don't go
eight crazy for their team, Rams, Chargers, Raiders, Raiders, because

(01:46:19):
there's a lot of people outside of Vegas.

Speaker 2 (01:46:21):
Texans. Uh, Panther, I'm telling you bottom five. I'm telling you.

Speaker 3 (01:46:28):
Seattle loves their Seahawks. To your bottom five, you might
be bottom three. I'm sorry, Houston, that's just it is.
Jets and Giants are hated by their city, but they're
still huge. They got a huge fan bases. They're split
by the city. But but it means but they're not.
You can't get Philip. There's not a lot of Philly
fans bumping around New York. Oh Philly to Philly. They
love their Eagles Birds. Yeah, your bottom five, you're probably

(01:46:51):
you almost saying Texans, your bottom three.

Speaker 5 (01:46:53):
Is what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:46:53):
So who are the three? Okay? So are you on
the level of the Chargers are worse?

Speaker 1 (01:46:59):
Charge.

Speaker 3 (01:47:00):
They say Chargers Raiders, and then maybe that Texans. If
I'm putting bottom three, then Broncos fans go crazy for Broncos.
Minnesota fans I used to live Minnesota, they go crazy
for the Vikings. How about Commis, I can't tell you. Yeah,
great history, I don't know. Lions fans travel. Yeah, your
bottom three? Oh god, we're bottom. We're bottom three in

(01:47:23):
terms of Again, the question that we're discussing is fans
in the city Jaguars. Are Texans in their Owech city
tex worse or better? Fans better fans?

Speaker 2 (01:47:34):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (01:47:36):
The Dolphins base no, no, but they're no. But I'd
say it's bigger than bigger in Houston though, but not
by much. At bottom eight's probably pretty bad at pretty way.
You're getting crushed in the McRib pole now at sports
r V sixty McRib not good.

Speaker 2 (01:47:53):
You know, I could you know.

Speaker 3 (01:47:54):
The question should have been is the mcgrib great, and
the answer would have been then you lost ninety to ten.

Speaker 2 (01:48:00):
It is delicious, patty, delicious, tasty tang to say that
out loud, pork patty, pork, patty grilled to perfection with
a tangy sauce. Eve had sauce.

Speaker 3 (01:48:13):
It's got rib humps on it because it has no bones.
You can't have a rib without bones. It's a micshet
of pork. I told Craig Actman, I was gonna bring
one in the plane. He's like, I don't want one.

Speaker 7 (01:48:29):
Good.

Speaker 3 (01:48:29):
See now his pal is a bad I'm not accepting that, actually, Craig, Craig,
if you're listening, he's got the palate of an eight
year old. I wonder if I brought fifty mcribs how
many of the Rockets would eat them? Who named the rockets?
Do not poison our rockets playing three to four games

(01:48:52):
a week, running up down the floor with a short
rotation right now, do not poison their bodies, which are
their temples with the McRib Here here we go really quick.

Those Kentuckians are up to.

Speaker 3 (01:50:25):
No chance, no way, no how. Anybody in staff, no chance,
no way, no how. The dietician, no chance, no way,
no how. Television announcer, no, radio announcer. Yes, there's your
run by Ryan Hollins.

Speaker 7 (01:50:38):

Speaker 2 (01:50:39):
Vanessa Richard said no, she and she openly mocks me
on in our group chat.

Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
She should as she should. You know, we can go
instead Big City Wings. You can't wait, I'm not going to.
You know, you shouldn't argue that at all.

Speaker 2 (01:51:02):
Twelve fifty on Sports Talk seven on you see Jamar
Chase got spend in one game for spitting. He denied
it over and over again, and he said I didn't
do it, and then he's then he appealed his suspension.
Didn't they have him? On four K.

Speaker 3 (01:51:17):
He spit a Jalen Ramsey too. I mean, you must
have huge freaking stones. Why are we spinning at people
so much these days? I don't know in years?

Speaker 2 (01:51:26):
Oh I telling this? He's kidding. I don't think I
was kidding.

Speaker 1 (01:51:32):
Oh, not that I know of. No WHOA.

Speaker 2 (01:51:34):
I mean, what you think about this? Where do you
put that on the insult list? That's really high up right?
It's a salt.

Speaker 3 (01:51:42):
Yeah, it isn't. It isn't illegally assault. It is you're
putting your bodily fluids on somebody. Yeah, but he is
like adamant that there's nobody has proof of this. Well,
he said I didn't spit on nobody, which means he
spit on somebody think about that. Matt felt like very
minutia for ant thing to him to say, I'm okay

(01:52:02):
with him being suspended, because that means more fort Higgins
this week.

Speaker 2 (01:52:07):
I mean sometimes people are talking and they spit. Oh
he spit on him. Oh yeah, you could see it.
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (01:52:15):
He was sitting there adamantly arguing that he didn't do
it to Ramsey when every video shows that was a direct.

Speaker 2 (01:52:21):
Spat spit or spat. I don't know spat, spat spitted.
I don't think that's the word. Is spit on that thing?

Speaker 3 (01:52:31):
And topic change in three two one? So how about
those rocket that's what? What's her name?

Speaker 2 (01:52:35):
She went off? She got all famous, she got her
fifteen minutes. What was her name?

Speaker 8 (01:52:40):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (01:52:40):
The the hawk too girl, hawk Tua, That's what it was, Hawktua.
Haley is think it's her name?

Speaker 5 (01:52:46):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:52:46):
You're sure? Why not sports touch do you think?

Speaker 3 (01:52:50):
When sports empty proposed, he got down on one knee,
pulled out a box of the ring and then said, wait,
don't answer that yet, then pulled out a McDonald's bag
graanned to make rib from inside and put it in
her hand and then said, will you marry me? You know, Kim,
how does she feel about the McRib loves mccrib We
are a the entire family is one hundred percent mccrib.

Speaker 2 (01:53:07):
Well, you know what, whatever kind of weird freaky stuff y'all.
Although the only person I think that doesn't like the
McRib is Carly. The boys love it. She's got some
sense and Kim and I love it. So yeah, I'm
proud of her.

Speaker 3 (01:53:20):
Matter of fact, you know what I would do I
mentioned before, I would give up turkey for thanksgiming and
have mcribs a plotter of mcgribs.

Speaker 2 (01:53:25):
See listen, listen, folks, listen to this psychopathy.

Speaker 3 (01:53:32):
Out of his mouth. Better you should be. You just
said you would rather have a McRib than Thanksgiving dinner. Yeah,
do you understand that that's insane?

Speaker 2 (01:53:45):
It's delicious, and it's not around for twelve months, and
I was going to joy wall I got it. Okay,
Well you have turkey and stuffing in July. I mean
I would I mean I like turkey and stuffing too,
Turkey and dressing, whatever you wanna call it. I'm fine.

Speaker 3 (01:53:57):
I don't think I don't know how many people are
gonna back up on that. I'm not gonna do another pole.

Speaker 1 (01:54:01):
Don't do that.

Speaker 3 (01:54:02):
You should no, because I'm curious on this one. That's
gonna get you about ninety five to five right there.
Mc rib over Thanksgiving dinner. No, I'm not anti skaving dinner.
I love Thanksiving.

Speaker 2 (01:54:15):
I know I'm giving. I'm I said you walk it back.
I'm out.

Speaker 3 (01:54:18):
Here's what I'm walking back. And I would not choose
it intentionally over. But if somebody said, hey, we're going
off the beaten track this year.

Speaker 2 (01:54:25):
We're gonna not have make We're not gonna have turkey,
We're gonna have make ribs, I'd be like, Yes, we're
having pressed pork gristle sheets in nasty and nasty sauce.
It's all good, delicious. Let's go back to c J
S on the practice gread, f onions and.

Speaker 3 (01:54:44):
Pickles and a toasted but don't forget that in a
savory sauce. Yeah, and a tanky sauce and a stale bun.

Speaker 2 (01:54:49):
You're sick. What is wrong with you?

Speaker 3 (01:54:53):
Of all the food takes you've given which over the
year there have been numerous terrible ones.

Speaker 2 (01:54:58):
Make rib Thanksgiving. I didn't say over, I said I
would have it. Thanks, you said you would. No, no, no,
we can check on a minute. You know what, let's edit.

Speaker 3 (01:55:08):
Okay, House A has regular Thanksgiving dinner and stuffing. House
B has mccrib everything else is equal. You're invited to both.

Speaker 2 (01:55:17):
I go to both.

Speaker 3 (01:55:18):
Nope, you gotta pick one. Nobody just says you can
only go to one. Persons you only got one Thanksgiving. Yeah,
and I got divorced parents. So I go to three
or four?

Speaker 2 (01:55:30):
So that okay?

Speaker 3 (01:55:32):
The there you only have because they're one hour each,
one's out one hour west, and on's an hour each.

Speaker 2 (01:55:39):
You're only picking one to take the turkey over that.

Speaker 3 (01:55:41):
Thanks, thank god. I really try to help now. Now, however, however,
it's a Friday after I'm going to mcgrib It's mcgrib Friday.

Speaker 2 (01:55:54):
You know, I like black Friday. You know the sales deals.
It's mccrib Friday.

Speaker 3 (01:55:58):
Everybody should get away from the Turkey after having a
nice thing in Turkey, and then Friday have mcgribbs.

Speaker 2 (01:56:02):
You're good, Oh man, don't you? Oh man me, It's fine. Wow.
I'm not gonna shame anybody. I'm just not.

Speaker 3 (01:56:14):
That's you're a liar. You shame people forgetting their steaks
well done. That is accurate. See, so you're a hypocrite,
but I don't. I don't criticize the meal itself. I'm
criticize the way it's it's cooked. You criticized everything before.
Get to the top of the hour and I get
get out of here because I feel like I'm gonna
be blasted for the next.

Speaker 2 (01:56:29):
Hour and drive in the airport.

Speaker 3 (01:56:31):
You know what, Kellsten another show? You know what if
you want to call in and taill mac he's crazy.
You got three more minutes seven to one, three gone
for a segment. No, we don't make it about you.

Speaker 2 (01:56:41):
Go to Samuel if we get out of here. I
turned my computer on. Are you okay? No, I'm not okay.
Go ahead, Samuel, Turkey is great. Mcgribs are great too.
You can enjoy both to the same day.

Speaker 4 (01:56:51):
Hi, Samuel, Hell you man, I don't know what in
the road are you thinking?

Speaker 8 (01:56:57):
You want to grib over Thanksgiving?

Speaker 1 (01:56:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:56:59):
I didn't say that he did, but he walked back. Yeah,
I know, Samuel. I don't know what happened with Speechles.
He can't get his phone on. By the mcgrib gods
are coming after you.

Speaker 11 (01:57:18):
Oh, but don't know there.

Speaker 4 (01:57:19):
I love me a good old McRib but I don't
I don't think i'll accept this.

Speaker 2 (01:57:24):
Somebody offered me that.

Speaker 3 (01:57:25):
All right, let me I got one for you here.
In a seven day week, would you have more ric
ribs or more turkey?

Speaker 5 (01:57:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:57:34):
See probably probably probably turkey?

Speaker 2 (01:57:37):
Thanks, yeah, thank you lover. No, no, no, no, I
would go.

Speaker 3 (01:57:43):
And if you had to have one five days and
one two, I would do mcribs, two three turkey, and
then I would just get tired of it a little bit,
so I'd have to bust it up with a nat
and then the nasty port gristle sheet would make me
appreciate the turkey again. So on day four I would
do McRib and then I'd do three more days of
turkey and appreciate it. Thank you very much, Samuel, appreciate
that gribbage. No, no, no, no, mcgrib is good. They

(01:58:04):
love it and love it. They love they love text techo.
They love mcgrib thank you very much, Samuel.

Speaker 8 (01:58:09):
Appreciate you text texts, they absolutely do.

Speaker 4 (01:58:12):
They love that.

Speaker 5 (01:58:13):
Like tech.

Speaker 2 (01:58:16):
They're getting mcdouble by. They should get the mcgribu uh
tortilla rap because now they got they met that sexual tortillas.
Now they have a McRib tortilla rap.

Speaker 3 (01:58:25):
They should in love it because you got a those
extra tortilla you can't throw them in the field anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:58:29):
Is The Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 2 (01:58:45):
One two pm here on Sports Talk seven nighty our
number four of The Matt Thomas Show with Ross Without
Matt Thomas. He has ducked out early.

Speaker 3 (01:58:56):
He will be traveling with the Houston Rockets and as
they get their second day off before traveling right now
to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers tomorrow, that'll be a
six o'clock start national TV ESPN. Rockets are getting some
national shine, folks. They're one of the best teams in basketball,
alongside the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets. Their next

(01:59:19):
four games are on national television. You have this game
against the Cleveland Cavaliers on ESPN and then I think
they're next going to be on Prime Video on Friday.
If I have that correct, Yes, they will.

Speaker 2 (01:59:32):
Be, and then is it Peacock.

Speaker 3 (01:59:35):
There's the basically there could be everywhere ESPN, Prime Video
Peacock and then ESPN again next Wednesday against the Golden
State Warriors. That's always a fun matchup. So Matt is
traveling with the Houston Rockets. He'll be out this hour.
We got the NFL rewind coming up in the next segment.
You guys want to get in, you can seven to
one three two one two five seven ninety. Is the
phone number seven one three two one two five seven ninety.

(01:59:58):
I would appreciate a follow up on my Instagram. At
sports RV and also at sports RV, we have the
pull up right now and it's very simple, and I
don't want to steer you in any direction. You should
go ahead and vote how you want. The McRib good
or not good. We have spent for whatever reason, it
seems like this happens every time the McRib comes back.

(02:00:18):
We spend a lot of time talking about whether or
not the merrickrib is any good and it's horrible.

Speaker 2 (02:00:23):
Anybody with any taste knows that. All right.

Speaker 3 (02:00:25):
Anyways, So a lot of stuff going on in Houston sports.
As I said, you got the Rockets back in action tomorrow.
The big stories of the day have been what's going
on with the Houston Texans in practice. If you have
not heard, CJ. Stroud was at practice today, but Jonathan
m Alexander does not think he is going to play
Kayyemi Fairbairn back at practice, as was Jalen Peatree. So

(02:00:49):
we'll see what happens Thursday. It feels like one of
those situations where if it were a Sunday game, c J.
Stroud would be cleared and he would be okay. I
also saw I'm trying to make sure I don't get
this incorrect. Yeah, this was from Aaron Wilson. He put
out a little bit more of a detailed report about
what's going on with DJ Shroud. He said that as

(02:01:13):
he returns to practice after he's a he remains an
NFL concussion protocol, but symptoms of headaches and sensitivity to
light have subsided. Positive step for Colts game. Davis Mills
preps for Bills. That's what it sounds like, is that
if it were a situation, if CJ. Stroud, We're gonna

(02:01:33):
play on Sunday. Unfortunately he got the short week against
the Buffalo Bills. Texan's holding right now as of last check.
I think five and a half point dogs in that game,
and it's it's really I don't want to call it
a must win game or even an important game. Does
it feel like kind of like it's it's a little
bit of gravy because you were able to win the
game against the Jaguars and Titans.

Speaker 2 (02:01:54):
Two one score games, two close games.

Speaker 3 (02:01:57):
That Jaguars game that was basically over, I can't believe
that they came back and won that one, and then
they got the pick six at the end to make
it look a little bit better than it actually was.
And then it was an ugly game against the Titans.
I imagine it's going to be pretty ugly against the
Buffalo Bills, who you're you're kind of figuring, you don't
know exactly who they are where they're seven and three

(02:02:18):
right now, but looking beatable against the Dolphins. I mean
they got how do they get crushed by the Dolphins
two weeks ago?

Speaker 2 (02:02:26):
Can someone explain that to me?

Speaker 3 (02:02:28):
I don't know, sandwich in between that or wins or
I guess that that would be the meat to the
sandwich of an impressive win against the Chiefs but at home,
an impressive win against the Buccaneers who are very good,
but at home. So traveling on the road on a
short week taking on the Houston Texans, but no CJ.

(02:02:48):
Stroud and we'll see a far as far as an
injury report, what's going on in the offensive line, because
the Buffalo Bills defense has been vulnerable on the ground.
But the problem is that Texans on the ground have
been horrible. They just haven't been very good. They've had
some injuries. Would he marks he's good, he's decent. You
can catch a lot of passes, but he doesn't impress

(02:03:09):
you too much in the run game. And Nick Chubb
is just a guy at this point, which somebody told
you that would be me at the beginning of the season.
Nick Chubb was just a guy. I know people were
getting all excited in the name and all that stuff,
but too many knee wrecking injuries for him to be
very effective for the Houston Texans. So we'll see how
that plays out as the week goes along. Could there

(02:03:31):
be a surprise, could we hear from CJ. Stroud, or
could we get something tomorrow that he's gonna play. Possibly,
But it seems like the Texans they're doing it the
right thing and this actually makes me happy that they're
not trying to rush him back.

Speaker 2 (02:03:44):
They're playing the long game. CJ.

Speaker 3 (02:03:46):
Stroud, they won him not only for this year, and
the rest of this year, but for a very long
time and you got a little bit of a grace period.
You can lose this game. This is the opposite of
a must win game. It'd be nice to have it
and they could win. They're still gonna play, They're gonna
try hard, They're gonna do everything they can on a
short week at Thursday night in front of a half
empty raucus in urg Stadium with a lot of Buffalo

(02:04:08):
Bills fans in there. Because then it's gonna get tough though.
You go on the road to the Colts, on the
road of the Chiefs and then somewhat of a softer
landing spot home for the Cardinals and the and the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (02:04:19):
So let's just say they lose. I mean, with CJ.

Speaker 3 (02:04:22):
Stroud back, can you split at the Colts and at
the Chiefs, who look pretty vulnerable. Jonathan Allen thinks the
Chiefs are very vulnerable.

Speaker 2 (02:04:29):
Okay, look, I don't think do you think it's a
very winnable game.

Speaker 12 (02:04:33):
I think it's not gonna be a blood like people
are thinking like Chiefs are gonna steamrold of Texans. No,
we still have one of the best defenses Sunday night
in Arrowhead. Colts have lost two games. Can is it
too much to say that Texans can split one of
those two games? Or how about this win one of
the next three Bills, Colts and Chiefs. Then at that

(02:04:54):
point you're sitting at six and seven. If you can
beat the Cardinals and Raiders, then you're sitting at eight
and seven. Nine and eight is not going to be
enough to make the AFC wild Card. Then you have
to win out on the road against the cha Jos,
and then you have to winst maybe last week against

(02:05:16):
the Colts. The Cults are out of the number one seed,
they've already clinched the AFC South. You could see a
scenario where it's Anthony Richardson starting for the Colts and
Jonathan Taylor doesn't play at all.

Speaker 2 (02:05:26):
Right, yeah, but you Jacksonville still has a very easy
schedule coming up. That's true.

Speaker 3 (02:05:31):
Yeah, I mean you kind of have to, as Demiko
Ryans would say, control a week and control all right,
we got to make plays, We got to be better like.

Speaker 13 (02:05:42):
That.

Speaker 3 (02:05:42):
That's you control what you can control. So win the
games that are in front of you and then see
what happens. If they can win one of the next
three sweep the Cardinals and Raiders at home, which seems
very doable. You'd have to beat the Chargers at home,
and then you're hoping it's a Colts team that's not
going to be full strength, because right now, who's the ones?
It would be the Patriots, right the Patriots and the

(02:06:04):
Colts are both no.

Speaker 2 (02:06:06):
Yeah, the Broncos. Oh yeah, the Broncos are no, and
you lost to them.

Speaker 3 (02:06:11):
But anyways, the Broncos, the Broncos lost to the Colts,
so they lose that tie breaker. So one of those teams,
let's say, emerges as the one seed. Colts are out
of it and they're not playing everybody. Yeah, you could
get finished ten and seven even then, though there could
be multiple teams ten and seven weren't there. Did a
ten and seventeam not make the playoffs last year?

Speaker 2 (02:06:31):
Oh? I think y'all looked this up. I don't know
we did.

Speaker 3 (02:06:34):
No, every ten and seem team made it. Excuse me,
ten and seven team made it. There were the nine
to eight Bengals that did not, at least in the
in the AFC. In the NFC, ten and seven Seahawks
did not make it. So ten ten wins do not
guarantee you, especially in this difficult AFC. But sounds like c. J.

(02:06:58):
Shroud is not going to play. Davis Mills capable backup.
I guess we call a we calling him a mid backup.
I mean, we're not bad.

Speaker 12 (02:07:09):
I want to ask a question, what happens if he
comes to this game and he does the same thing
he did the last two weeks.

Speaker 3 (02:07:14):
I mean, yeah, just enough. Know you mean, like, is
he gonna start over c J. Strouder, No, that's crazy.
We're gonna kick you off the show.

Speaker 12 (02:07:22):
I feel someone's better about the depth of the Texas
at the concussions a little more severe, you know what
I mean.

Speaker 2 (02:07:28):
Look, it's a winnable game.

Speaker 3 (02:07:30):
Short week Thursday home dogs historically do pretty well because
you think of the names and the name brand is
the Bills for sure didn't look so great two weeks
ago against a terrible Dolphins team. They're very vulnerable on
the run. Maybe Woody Marks can get something going on
the ground Thursday night. So we'll see how are we

(02:07:53):
feeling about the Texans and the remaining schedule. Seven one, three, two,
two five, seven ninety is the phone number if you
would like to get in seven one three two one
two five seven niney. You can also send tweets at
sports RV. That's where I got my rib pull up
right now. I think it's holding it sixty one percent
not good for the McRib thirty nine percent good. You

(02:08:15):
can also follow me on Instagram at sports RV. I
would appreciate that quick break here when we come back. Well,
the NFL rewind and anything you guys want to get to.
It's seven one three two one two five seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven ninety alright,

(02:08:40):
it's that time of the week for the NFL rewind
here on the Matt Thomas Show with Ross Without Matt Thomas.
He has ducked out early to head over to fly
out with your Houston Rockets. They'll be taking on the
Cleveland Cavaliers tomorrow. Phone lines are open if you'd like
to get in. It's seven to one to three, two
one two five seven ninety all right. What is going

(02:09:04):
on in the NFL. A number of different things are
going on, but let's go ahead and recap some of
the games that are relevant to us here in Houston,
starting with the Jacksonville Jaguars and that big win.

Speaker 2 (02:09:16):
For them, crushing.

Speaker 12 (02:09:19):
Sorry Jonathan, guys, that was a hard watch, But you know,
I don't understand how they come and do what they
did to us and then go whoop a seven and
three team like that.

Speaker 2 (02:09:27):
The NFL is weird in week to week. Here's here's
some Travis Ettien et Travis eten E ten for you.

Speaker 5 (02:09:35):
Second and ten from the thirteen of the Chargers pistol
formation this time, and they run it with ETN to
the left side to the ten inside the five yard
line stretch to put the pylon.

Speaker 6 (02:09:46):
Travis Etn touchdown, touchdown run O thirteen yards.

Speaker 2 (02:09:52):
Jacksonville's extended the league.

Speaker 4 (02:09:54):
This what's been old Jaguars all day long.

Speaker 3 (02:09:58):
And everybody stadium, you tell me what happened in that
one thirty first downs to eight.

Speaker 2 (02:10:03):
Now, usually I.

Speaker 3 (02:10:04):
Look at a final score and you're like, okay, that
might be a little misleading. Let's check the yards. Let's
check right, let's check first downs.

Speaker 2 (02:10:10):
Let's hold on. This can't be right. One hundred and
thirty five total yards for the Chargers. Dude, it was.

Speaker 12 (02:10:19):
I'm telling you, I don't I think Jacksonville heard all
the bad news covers they were getting after the Houston loss,
and just they came out crazy, crazy.

Speaker 3 (02:10:27):
They came out angry and whipped some ass. Thirty first
downs to eight, three hundred and forty five yards to
one hrd and thirty five.

Speaker 2 (02:10:35):
That is insane.

Speaker 3 (02:10:37):
The turnover, you would think, okay, thirty five to six,
they must have just won the turnover about a five
to year.

Speaker 2 (02:10:41):
It was one apiece one apiece, which is I mean
facial tuton. Come on, dude, I mean Rachel two is
actually pretty good. I mean what you said, I mean,
NFL this year, is anybody's gonna win?

Speaker 3 (02:10:53):
This is very wide open right now. It doesn't Who
is the most dominant team in the NFL is telling
the Rams.

Speaker 2 (02:11:03):
Us did be the Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (02:11:05):
Huh the Rams are eight and two. Yeah, they just
beat the Seahawks. That was a close one. Yeah, So
maybe we shouldn't be all upset about that Rams. Those
early Rams lost and the early Buccaneers lost, because those
teams are pretty good.

Speaker 2 (02:11:19):
Well, there you go.

Speaker 3 (02:11:19):
Jaguars now six and four. We were talking about this earlier.
Probably not gonna win the AFC South, But look at
this Cardinals Titans. Easy home for the Colts. Who knows
home for the Jets win at the Broncos, at the Colts,
and then home for the Titans to end the season.
You tell me they don't have three four more wins
in there. Absolutely, So Texans need to watch out all

(02:11:42):
right elsewhere in the NFL. The team that is going
to be here in Houston on a Thursday pulled away
from the Buccaneers late.

Speaker 6 (02:11:51):
Three receivers to the left, cooked to the right of Allen,
and the shotgun here on second and four. Allen back
to pass, now, going to tuck it and run as
he's looking for the end zone, and the searge pushes
him in for his sixth touchdown.

Speaker 2 (02:12:04):
Of the season or the game.

Speaker 6 (02:12:07):
He is a beast with a capitol B. He is
a scoring machine. He's unbelievable. He has tied his career
high in a football game with his sixth touchdown.

Speaker 3 (02:12:20):
Sixth touchdowns for Jonathan Allen three hundred and seventeen yards,
a couple of picks, one of them really bad, but
also had three rushing touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (02:12:30):
Bills seven and three, five and one at home, two
and two on the road. Ooh, I like that. Two
and two on the road. I mean, do we have a.

Speaker 3 (02:12:42):
Are you telling me there's a chance Texans. Let me
check the latest line. I wonder what the total is too,
Probably pretty low. Forty three and a half is very
low for a Buffalo Bills game. Line's still holding it
five and a half. It opened up at three and
a half, but then the bad news of CJ. Stroud
not practicing and now limited and practicing came in That
moved it a couple of points. I know we got

(02:13:05):
anything can happen. Anything can happen on third. Yeah, you're
don't need like a couple of pick sixes off of
Josh Sharlan can turn the ball over and we'll understond
this dog. But he can also score six touchdowns. All right,
let's keep it. Let's keep it rolling on the NFL. Rewind,
how about a favorite of yours. I'm sure you're gonna
like this highlight.

Speaker 2 (02:13:24):
Snap placement kick on the way, and it is good
they don't block this one like last year in Kansas
City on the final play of the game.

Speaker 3 (02:13:37):
The Denver Broncos have beaten the Kansas City Chiefs by
a final score of twenty two to nineteen.

Speaker 2 (02:13:46):
What's wrong with the Kansas City Chiefs?

Speaker 12 (02:13:49):
The AF seasons dominated at the time Matt last week.
It's just they got team at the team that is
can find the way to win.

Speaker 3 (02:13:56):
And honestly, if you look at their their record, like
they're five and five now, they were beating Ravens. They
were whipping the Ravens and then Lamar Jackson got hurt
in that game, but that was effectively over. Even when
Lamar Jackson got hurt. They beat up on the Lions.
They're losses. None of them are barret They're all one

(02:14:18):
score losses. Which is funny how that that kind of
turns year to year.

Speaker 2 (02:14:22):
Five one score losses to the Chargers, Eagles, Jaguars, Bills,
and Broncos.

Speaker 3 (02:14:30):
Four of those, excuse me, three of those on the road.
I just got a hard ass schedule. Now they got Colts, Cowboys, Texans, Chargers, Titans.

Speaker 2 (02:14:41):
Man are the Chiefs. The Chiefs was in the playoffs.

Speaker 12 (02:14:45):
Se See, I'm trying to pick you on games they
have as a hard schedule, right, Yes, but I think
it's more of a testament to how good the Broncos,
the Patriots, you know, even the Jacksonville putting up a
fight and taking a win from them. Like, I just
think NFL is a lot more evenly stacked than it

(02:15:07):
has been the last three years.

Speaker 2 (02:15:08):
Yeah, it's been crazy, and as.

Speaker 3 (02:15:13):
Sports tretches pointing out, it'd be nice to beat the
Chiefs because for a head to head tiebreaker.

Speaker 2 (02:15:18):
Honestly, now, I don't think it's gonna count.

Speaker 3 (02:15:20):
It's probably not going to factor in with the Bills,
depending on what their remaining schedule is.

Speaker 2 (02:15:24):
But right now the Patriots are number one. But so.

Speaker 3 (02:15:28):
It nice to get a win over the Bills. Although
Bills still have the Well at the Steelers is not
a gimmey, but home for the Bengals Brown they have
the Browns on the road.

Speaker 2 (02:15:41):
They end the season at home versus the Jets. Yeah,
they're in the playoffs sorrerdy. They have seven wins, so
you're probably not gonna have to worry about a tiebreaker
with the Bills. It'd be nice.

Speaker 11 (02:15:51):
Now.

Speaker 3 (02:15:52):
I wouldn't say they exceeded talking about the Texans, they
did not exceed expectations this weekend, but at least they won.
And then that Jaguars comeback was so it's almost like
you don't even know what you're gonna get it to
Texans except for good defense and bad offense.

Speaker 2 (02:16:05):
And then hopefully they win somehow. That's basically where you
are with them, all right.

Speaker 3 (02:16:09):
Elsewhere in the NFL, rewind a couple of news items.
Are we going old school with these benchings? Abdul Carter
was benched by the New York Giants for the first
series of the week, and then last night in Monday
Night Football, both George Pickens and Cedee Lamb were benched

(02:16:30):
by head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Speaker 12 (02:16:32):
The resting players like the NBA, Now, it was kind
of nah. I mean it's also like, eh, we're playing
the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (02:16:38):
You'll probably still handle without like one series of you guys,
it's no big deal.

Speaker 2 (02:16:43):
I mean that's kind of smart to me. I would do.
I think I'm a coache.

Speaker 3 (02:16:46):
I'm like, hey, George Pickens still ended up with one
hundred and forty four yards in a touchdown, Cede Lamb
had sixty six yards in a touchdown, and that Cowboys
offense obviously a forced to be reckoned with, and their
defense actually played well with Quinn Williams and others making plays.
Quinnon Williams I think had a sack, you ate a

(02:17:07):
sac and a half. But I don't think Cowboys. I
think the NFC is just too stacked for them to
make too much of a noise. But I mean they're
four to five in one. There's a lot of season
left right now. It's the Rams, I think, Rams, Seahawks,
Eagles in whatever order you want to put them.

Speaker 2 (02:17:23):
As far as the best teams in the NFC. I
don't know that the Cowboys are gonna be able to
factor in that.

Speaker 3 (02:17:27):
But what's going on with these benchings everywhere in the
NFL is this is this the we're gonna hear who's
the Texan most likely to get benched.

Speaker 2 (02:17:38):
A one game?

Speaker 3 (02:17:39):
This game, any game, any game. Nobody's really a hot head.
I mean as he's outs your ear, but the Damiko
Ryans loves him. He goes out there and he you know,
uh hits uh hits quarterbacks in the neck. But he's
okay after that. Sultz, maybe Dalton Schultz, you think he's

(02:17:59):
causing problem, I want.

Speaker 2 (02:18:01):
To say, call this problem. I'm just thinking about, like,
who is Vincent you think could be older?

Speaker 3 (02:18:04):
I can't even think of anybody who is really like
uh like a well it would have been CJ. Garner Johnson,
but they kicked him off the team. That was more
than a benching they released.

Speaker 1 (02:18:17):
Yeah, where is he now?

Speaker 2 (02:18:18):
He's on a practice squad or something like that. Yeah,
I think the best pick him up. I'm not too
sure though. Ally we mentioned this earlier. There's been a
rash of these break ins on the NFL. Rewind here,
I do want to bring it back up.

Speaker 3 (02:18:29):
Shoudoor Sanders had his home broken into two hundred thousand
dollars worth of property stolen during the game. This has
happened now recently to Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelsey.

Speaker 2 (02:18:42):
I mean, it's kind of smart. They know where you're
gonna be on Sunday. Hi. Hi, my name is Ross.

Speaker 3 (02:18:51):
I do not advocate the stealing of any property. You're
gonna get regulated and you're gonna get prosecuted. But I mean,
if you have if you're looking to rob somebody and
you have a one hundred percent guarantee they're not going
to be in their house, it would be a sports
player while they're at the game to make.

Speaker 2 (02:19:11):
Sure the wife and kids are gone or something.

Speaker 13 (02:19:12):
You know.

Speaker 2 (02:19:12):
Oh yeah, man makes you gotta do that. I mean,
I don't know, I get it. Give credit when credit
is due.

Speaker 3 (02:19:16):
I need a documentary on all these heists that all
these these football players are suffering.

Speaker 2 (02:19:23):
This is crazy. It's really sad, honestly.

Speaker 5 (02:19:27):
Yeah, well.

Speaker 2 (02:19:31):
It's e's what t tas. That's all I can say.

Speaker 3 (02:19:34):
All Right, we're gonna take a quick break here on
the Matt Thomas Show with Ross. If you guys want
to get in you can.

Speaker 8 (02:19:40):
We have.

Speaker 3 (02:19:41):
We've been talking about the Texans. How are you feeling
about Davis Mills versus the Buffalo Bills? Who that rhymes
seven one three two one two five seven nightey. We
were talking earlier about college football stuff. Is Lane Kiffin
gonna stay at Old Miss? He went on the Pat
McAfee show. If you heard the reports yesterday, there's basically
an ultimatum like he might not even co which the
Egg Bowl. He went and dismissed all that, said, everything's

(02:20:03):
good at Ole Miss. I'm focused on winning, believe him
or not. And also the Desmond Howard stuff we were
talking about earlier as well. He says Steve Sarkisian could
be gone at the end of the year for the
Texas Longhorns. I said, that's not the craziest thing I've
ever heard. I like sark He's a good coach. But

(02:20:24):
you never know what these high dollar boosters are going
to do. We're shelling out all this cash for players.
Anything you guys want to get to, you can. Phone
lines are open. Seven one three two one two five
seven ninety. Is the phone number seven one three, two
one two five seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (02:20:43):
All right, Never in my life.

Speaker 3 (02:20:46):
Have I been more sure than I'm on the right
side of something, Johnathan, Can you guess there is a
certain seven to ninety employee.

Speaker 2 (02:20:56):
Just came in here to tell me the McRib is awesome?

Speaker 8 (02:20:59):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (02:20:59):
I know it is who Thompson. Cole Thompson loves the McRib.
And see now I'm really solidified and knowing that I
am right and I'm on the right side of history.

Speaker 2 (02:21:11):
I can't believe you. You so you're a fan of
the McRib. I'm out numbered here. I thought I I
got the fan of movie right now. Okay, you know
what I'm saying. But I can eat it. The McRib sucks.

Speaker 3 (02:21:24):
It's nasty, it's disgusting, it's you don't even want to
think about it. You don't even know what's made of
what's in the McRib.

Speaker 2 (02:21:31):
Nobody knows. You can set it's price exactly.

Speaker 3 (02:21:35):
Those are yeah, you know, no, you don't. Have you
ever seen there's a documentary It used to be on Netflix.
I remember it's called like Food Ink or something like that.
Have you seen Google the pink McNuggets slurry. It's nasty.
You gotta get all that stuff out of your body, folks.
That's why I go full white, all white meat chicken.

(02:21:57):
Get the tenders, just upgrade, it's gonna be all right.
There's a come on now. Tenders are better, not that
they're much. Honestly, if we're eating fast food, we're basically
putting carcinogens in our body. But why would you make
it worse with a nasty porked gristle sheet.

Speaker 2 (02:22:12):
You're sick? You people disgusted me not to say that.
I'm surprised, all right.

Speaker 3 (02:22:18):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety is
the phone number if you want to get in. Seven
to one three two one two five seven ninety. One
of the things I haven't been able to talk about
much since we came back because they played on Sunday
and we were probably more full in Texans mode yesterday.
But Matt Thomas is out traveling with the Houston Rockets,
who are one of the best teams in basketball.

Speaker 2 (02:22:38):
They've got two four game excuse me, winning streaks so far.

Speaker 3 (02:22:42):
Early in this season, they lost to the Spurs on
a Friday night basically a week and a half ago.
Since then, they have won four straight and they're looking
like the best offense in basketball right now. And I'm
really excited because I definitely had some reservations before the
season started about no Fred van Vliet, what was gonna

(02:23:04):
happen with the ball handling and the turnovers still have
been a concern for the team.

Speaker 2 (02:23:07):
They've been turning the ball over.

Speaker 3 (02:23:09):
Antary Easton has gone down for a few weeks as
well with his injury, so I'm a little bit concerned there.

Speaker 2 (02:23:14):
But this team, when you have Kevin Durant and.

Speaker 3 (02:23:17):
Alprin Shingun, it's basically it's developing into like a Big
three situation at this point with Amen Thompson and Kevin
Durant and Albi Shingoon, And when you have both those
guys on the floor, especially Shinggoon, his field goal percentage
hasn't been great. Last game he scored everybody's like man
thirty points. Alpi Shangoon, He's going off. This is amazing well,

(02:23:40):
he took thirty one shots. I still if I have
one complaint about Alprin Shingoon, it would be a lot
of those easy bunnies and hook shots and put backs
and stuff, and some of the wild shots that he
throws up when he's just trying to draw foul and
they don't work. I would like him to go a
little bit stronger than hoop, and I would like I'm
gonna make some of those easy bunnies and hooks, which

(02:24:02):
we know he can make. He's very good with both hands,
very good passer, extreme extremely great feel for the game,
and he commands double teams. So when you have Kevin
Durant and Albi Shangoon on the floor and they're both
commanding double teams, things are looking pretty good.

Speaker 2 (02:24:19):
And then you have I mean, when.

Speaker 3 (02:24:21):
We've talked to coach Udoka on Thursday, that's gonna be
one of the things I'm gonna ask, Like, how does
a men Thompson always get free on these basket cuts?

Speaker 5 (02:24:31):
What is that?

Speaker 2 (02:24:32):
Is that instinct? Is that just people sleeping on him?

Speaker 11 (02:24:34):
Like?

Speaker 2 (02:24:34):
What is the feel?

Speaker 3 (02:24:36):
What is the like the secret sauce? Now part of it,
of course is the guys that are looking for him,
whether it be Shangun or Durant or whoever, who are
keeping their eyes out and very good passers, very good
guy guys who can who see the floor. Very well
underrated passer Kevin Durant has been basically his entire NBA career.
And then Albi shan Gun, who's a great passer, one

(02:24:58):
of the great passing big men, I'll say, the second
greatest passing big man in the league. Well, of course
we're gonna put Nikolayokic up there. So I'm just really
impressed with the Rockets and where they are right now,
and I think they're going to continue to get better,
especially as long as they stay healthy. I'm somewhat worried
about the shortened rotation for them, because now you have

(02:25:21):
Tarry easanout and you're gonna have to stretch a little
bit thin. But coachry Doka kind of has he hadn't
been afraid to do that. He's not saying normally, he
doesn't say, oh, this guy's out of our rotation, I'm
gonna add this guy. It's generally been like, Okay, these
other guys are going to carry a little bit more
of the burden, and that's the way that it's been,

(02:25:41):
that's the way that he's gone about his business. So
I'm okay with that. We'll see what happens with the Rockets.
But they're nine to three right now. If you look
at net rating, if you're not aware, it's something I
talk about a lot, especially in pre and post game shows.
It's basically points per possession offense minus defense. Generally the
best teams in basketball have the highest net rating. For example,
last year is a Thunder. Right now, it's the Thunder,

(02:26:01):
then it's the Nuggets, then it's the Houston Rockets. So
I think we're talking about that's gonna be your top
three in the West. Gut feeling. I gave it a
couple of weeks ago. I think I had the rocketss
top three in the West. I'm feeling confident in that
Oklahoma statey is gonna be one. I think the Rockets
are gonna be two and three, fighting it out with
the Denver Nuggets. But we're very early on in the season.

(02:26:23):
There's a lot of basketball left to be played, and
we'll see what they do where they go and they
can get even better, and then hopefully at some point
they will get even healthier, Reed Shepherd, I haven't even
mentioned with sixteen points in the last game, I've been
really impressed with them. I'm gonna be honest, and I
said this on air just between you and Mega, you
guys and me. I was a little skeptical of a

(02:26:45):
breakout of Reed Shepherd, but I did not write him
off because I've been around long enough. And what you
call it old, Jonathan, I've seen bad players, No thank you,
turned like I've seen. I don't even I like Clint
Capella was never a bad play, but if you look
at his progression throughout the years, players can get better.
Their bodies fill in, they get used to it, they

(02:27:05):
get more confident, and that's worse. That's why I never
write off somebody from one bad season, and Reed Shepherd
it was.

Speaker 2 (02:27:12):
It was a bad season.

Speaker 3 (02:27:13):
He looked like a deer in headlights. He looked on
he looked like he was lacking in confidence and all
that stuff. Now he's he's confident, he's believing in himself.
He's doing terrible three point celebrations where he doesn't know
what to do with his hands, like he's Ricky Bobby
and tellaging and Knights.

Speaker 2 (02:27:26):
But he looks confident out there.

Speaker 8 (02:27:27):
Well.

Speaker 2 (02:27:27):
I even peback on that, even just the first game
of this season, he looked.

Speaker 3 (02:27:31):
Like he was confident, but the shots weren't going in,
and I said, at least he's at least he's trying, right,
So I was excited about read Shepherd from that. That
was a little bit like, Okay, we're gonna see something
like he's confident. They're they're telling him to take these shots.
He's confident in the shots. Hopefully eventually they'll fall, and
they're falling for him right now. Reed Shepherd has been

(02:27:53):
absolutely like he's he's earning time. Where it felt like
they were giving him, giving him time based on where
he was and where he was drafted.

Speaker 2 (02:28:02):
Now he is earning that time.

Speaker 3 (02:28:05):
In the last six games or so, he's been really
important for the Rockets, especially now we're gonna get and
now with a shorter rotation. I'm on the board the
Rechepher train. Forty nine percent from the field overall, now
forty eight percent from three. Those numbers are gonna come down,
or if they don't, he's just gonna be the best
three point shooter in the league. But I'm extremely encouraged

(02:28:30):
by where the Rockets are right now. The defense has
been good and getting better, and the offense is going
to continue to be one of the best in the
league because you've got this guy named Kevin Durant and
then you have a guy who has already an All
Star at alprin Shangoon, who's a triple double threat every night.
So I'm feeling good about this Houston Rockets basketball squad,
and I want I know sometimes you're fighting a losing battle,

(02:28:51):
especially in Houston, where I don't mean this as a negative,
where a front running town like you only invest in
good teams. That makes sense. I'm okay with that, but
not a passionate ingrained Sportstown in general, no matter who Astros.
Absolutely this is an Astros town right now, but it
wasn't ten years ago. When they're losing one hundred and

(02:29:13):
eleven games. That's okay, But it's a good team. They're
fun to watch. I will hand out my personal guarantee
if everybody stays healthy, they're gonna be a top three
team in the West. I think you should be paying
attention because they're fun to watch night in and night out,
and of course you can listen to them right here
on Sports Talk seven ninety. Your home for your Houston Rockets.

(02:29:33):
All right, another break here on the Matt Thomas Show
with Ross. You want to get in on the phones,
you can seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
Is the phone number seven one three two one two
five seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (02:29:43):
You can send.

Speaker 3 (02:29:44):
Tweets at sports RV if you want to interact that way.
You can also follow me on Instagram at sports RV
as well. Quick break here you got the A team
coming up at two o'clock. But the final segment of
the Matt Thomas Show with Ross without Matt Thomas's next.

Speaker 2 (02:30:04):
What forty seven of the PM here on Sports Talk
seven eighty. It is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross
without Matt Thomas. I went through whoa.

Speaker 9 (02:30:19):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:30:19):
Breaking news is it?

Speaker 5 (02:30:21):
One?

Speaker 3 (02:30:22):
It's probably one right, throwing another one just for fun.
One eats for Jalen Petrie and c J Stroud.

Speaker 2 (02:30:29):
Breaking news. Dimico Ryans has ruled out c J.

Speaker 3 (02:30:36):
Stroud and Jalen Petrie under the NFL concussion Protocol. They
are out for the Bills game. He is encouraged about
their outlook for the Colts game next week. Davis Mills
for the third straight week is your Houston Texans starting quarterback.

(02:30:56):
I mean, we have to give credit where it's due.
He is two and zero as the Houston Texans starting QB.
This news, by the way, was given to me by
Adam Wexler. He texted me Ryan's announces, Petri and Strouder
out and my response to him was thanks, true insider.
So thanks to our true thanks to our true Texans insider,

(02:31:17):
Adam Wexler at practices at press conferences, breaking it down
like nobody's business and giving me the news.

Speaker 2 (02:31:24):
So there you go. No CJ.

Speaker 3 (02:31:26):
Stroud, no Jalen Petrie felt like that was the I mean,
that was the chalk play. Maybe it felt like there's
possibly an outside shot that they could get in and
play the game or or play on Thursday, but you
got to short week, have him next week, take it easy.
I understand you want to win these games, but especially
when it comes to concussions, you don't want to rush

(02:31:46):
anybody back.

Speaker 2 (02:31:47):
You got to play the long game. Petrie assigned to
a long term deal, mark my words.

Speaker 6 (02:31:52):
C J.

Speaker 3 (02:31:53):
Stroud eventually will be sorry, assigned to a long term
deal for the Houston Texans, and you want to be cautious.
You want to air on the side of caution. So
a short week against the Bills, winnable game, a little
bit less winnable with Davis Mills, and we'll see what
happens on Prime Video on Thursday night.

Speaker 2 (02:32:16):
I'm not feeling great about it. I mean I do
have a weird gut feeling.

Speaker 3 (02:32:20):
I mean I did say it earlier today because it
is Tuesday gut feelings here on the Matt Thomas Show.
I have a weird gut feeling that's gonna be closer
than people think, just because that always seems to happen,
especially on weird stuff happens on Thursday Night.

Speaker 2 (02:32:32):
And this NFL season has been week to week.

Speaker 3 (02:32:34):
It's been crazy, like though, the poor sorry Chargers getting asked, Yeah,
they are pretty sorry right now. I just said that
to make you upset, and it worked. Okay, I'm sorry. Well,
look you lose thirty five to six to the Jackuars.
I mean, come on, man, that's terrible. Uh yeah, So

(02:32:55):
it's week to week league.

Speaker 2 (02:32:57):
It really is.

Speaker 3 (02:32:58):
A couple of weeks ago, Joe Flacca was lighting the
world on fire, and now he's bad. He's had back
to back bad games for the Bengals, who were now
three and seven.

Speaker 2 (02:33:06):
Ravens.

Speaker 3 (02:33:07):
By the way, who told you, Jonathan the Ravens had
a very soft schedule coming up, and they weren't out
of it yet. When they're one and five. Now they've
won four straight and they're five and five.

Speaker 2 (02:33:18):
You know, I should have given your props. I was
waiting till he got back, yes, and I didn't. When
all that went down, I was like, man, coach is
gonna be gone, you know, hard Joe. Everybody thought John
Harball was gonna get.

Speaker 8 (02:33:31):
Man.

Speaker 12 (02:33:31):
But then they you know what it is, Lamar goot
all those distractions out of the locker room, got the
TVs and all that stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:33:38):
Was that what they said? Is that what they did? Yeah,
it came out. He did that when he was on injured,
he was on the il. He told them all the
distractions away.

Speaker 3 (02:33:47):
So their home for the Jets, win, home for the Bengals,
win home for the Steelers probably went. I mean, they
could be eight and five then they are at the Bengals,
home for the Patriots at Packers at Steelers. I could
they could be a toss up. Maybe they they split
those four games with the throwing the two Steelers games
in there.

Speaker 2 (02:34:06):
AFC's tough man. AFC is insane, how difficult it is.

Speaker 3 (02:34:14):
And right now, you know, I haven't looked at the
latest playoff odds, but I think I they think Texans
got down to like two or three percent.

Speaker 2 (02:34:21):
Oh, I think they're like twenty six now is it
twenty six? Okay, So you're telling me there's a.

Speaker 1 (02:34:26):
Chance I have it right here?

Speaker 2 (02:34:27):
Yeah, that we are all in Texas are Oh yeah,
you're dropping a week. You can't hold on. You can't
drop a wee on the Chargers. Yeah, that twenty six
percent right now? Twenty six percent?

Speaker 3 (02:34:38):
Okay, So there is a non zero chance twenty six
percent they're gonna win this week against the Bills would
be huge. I don't think it's gonna happen, but crazier
stuff has happened on a Thursday night in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (02:34:51):
So we'll see C J.

Speaker 3 (02:34:51):
Stroud out and Jalen Petrie ruled out. So we got
the the opinion from Cole Thompson. He's pro McRib. You
are a pro McRib.

Speaker 12 (02:35:02):
As pro as centrist pro. You can get off centrist pro. Okay,
so you're you're pro, you're a pro McRib lean yeah,
like okay, Like if you know I'm not gonna say
get it off the menu, I'm like, oh, okay, that's
the poor rib is back then.

Speaker 3 (02:35:18):
I mean, I don't have to take it off the menu.
If you want to enjoy your press gristle sheet, you
go ahead, you do your thing.

Speaker 2 (02:35:24):
But that's sounds so grossly you said that that's what
it is. Anyways, Okay, so I was.

Speaker 3 (02:35:32):
I actually look through my Twitter history and this is
the fifth time I've done a pole. You can vote
on the McRib again at sports r V. I've gone
to this well a lot of time.

Speaker 2 (02:35:43):
I get I always like to put up Twitter polls.
I'm curious the pulse of the people, especially now.

Speaker 3 (02:35:49):
It's not necessarily to prove a point when Matt and
I disagree. A lot of times, I'm just generally curious
because you know, you can argue with your friend and
they're really passionate about something.

Speaker 2 (02:35:57):
You're like, am I crazy? Like, no, I'm not crazy,
or maybe I'm crazy. I don't know. Let me put
a pole up on Twitter. That's what I do. So
I've done it now five I think five times.

Speaker 3 (02:36:07):
It generally ends up about sixty forty anti McRib, although
the one I did in twenty twenty two was two
thirds two thirds anti McRib. This one's holding it about
sixty forty anti McRib. So, and then we also did
a we did a taste test video in twenty twenty two.

(02:36:27):
When it came back, tried one. Yeah, No, I've had
I've had a mcgrib. Look, if you put a free
McRib in front of me, I mean, I guess I'm
gonna eat it.

Speaker 2 (02:36:37):
See, I'm not gonna see what is that? See you
put it in If you hated it that much, you
wouldn't even put it in your mouth.

Speaker 3 (02:36:43):
You put free anything in front of me. For the
most part, you know, I give it a shot. There's
nothing that is all that is like completely off my
do not eat less that I can think of, certainly
not fast food.

Speaker 2 (02:36:55):
Item even like Chittlands and stuff like that. Uh, I
don't know that I've had. I've had tripe, which is
like three pa like, yeah, I've had that before. It's similar.

Speaker 3 (02:37:05):
I've had Yeah, I've had intestines. When I went to Korea,
I had chicken feet Korean Taiwan. No, I think I
had more exotic foods and I had liver liver was
actually pretty good kidney, that's what it was.

Speaker 2 (02:37:16):
Kidney.

Speaker 3 (02:37:17):
Kidney wasn't bad kidney. Of what I think it was
a I think it was a cow kidney. I mean
I had Have you had lingua? No your cow tongue.

Speaker 2 (02:37:26):
No, my girl's dad loves that. Yeah. I don't know
if I can get from the valley. Huh.

Speaker 12 (02:37:32):
Yeah, he's actually actually yeah, he's like yeah, from the
other the other side of the board.

Speaker 3 (02:37:37):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I I tolerate lingua. It's not my favorite.
I don't like three.

Speaker 12 (02:37:47):
What about you guys heard the I don't know what
it was called. It's peanut butter and chocolate chicken peanut butter.

Speaker 3 (02:37:55):
Yeah, mully is great. Well, there's good molley and there's
bad mode. You have to find somebody who makes it good. See,
people are hearing this, like you eat that without a
big ribs, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:38:03):
I eat Yeah. Yeah, it's on chicken. It's a sauce.
It's it's not a nasty pork patty with bumps on it.
Where are those bumps come from? Why are they putting
why they're putting rib bumps on my pork patty? Come on, man,
that's nasty. You're nasty, all right, you know what it's

(02:38:24):
gonna do. Don't eat im grip because it's gotta bring
your energy down, all right. And if you notice to
continue to decline in your motivation, your energy, your focused.

Speaker 3 (02:38:32):
And this is actually a serious conversation because you know

out of bed at night. You're in a rut, you
don't know what's going on. You're not sleeping good at night. Yeah,
libido hasn't been the same, and it's embarrassing with your
girl and you're just like, I don't know what to do.

Stuff You Should Know
Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
