(00:43):
basketball. Mike Elko introduced as anew head coach at Texas A and M.
The Texans are going to submit someof those calls over the weekend to
the NFL league office, see ifanything will come about. Probably not.
Shawn Tripley, good morning. Wellwhat are they going to get an apology?
I've always laughed at that. Hey, I just want to submit this
for the record. Thank you?Counselor may I approach Yeah, you can
(01:07):
approach the NFL. Bitch a counselorwhat do you got? Well, we
got hosed on a handful of calls, as did about twenty seven to twenty
eight other teams in the league thisweekend, but we got hosed. I
just want you to know that webelieve you missed this. Yep, we
sure did and get right, yeah, and we apologize. I always wonder,
(01:30):
if you know, it should belike when you get to three apologies
from the NFL for missing calls, they give you a win back or something.
Yeah, or you get a milliondollar bonus for screwing up. Yeah,
And we get a team a milliondollar bonus because we missed three calls.
You know you're holding them, youknow, accountable for it. But
okay, duly noted. But guesswhat that means. We're going to give
(01:53):
you an apology, an apple, and a roadmap and that's about it.
Certainly. I mean I understand whatthey do it because the just to put
it on notice. Yeah, butthere's there's no point you're not you're not
getting anything. But nothing's gonna changea possible apology that we miss something,
but oh well, you still lostthe game. That that's that's what their
comeback will be. Why in theNFL do they not have you know,
(02:15):
how Hey, what what a gamelast night? Though? Was it twelve
to ten to the finals Bears beatthe Vikings turned it off. Incredible,
unbelievable. Man, what a joke. What were you gonna say before that?
You were getting ready to say.You know how the NBA reviews their
(02:37):
last two minute calls, They youknow, hold their referees accountable to do
they something some time? No,they don't, Okay, because Scott Foster.
I don't know how that dude isstill refereeing in this in the league.
Is he's by far he's getting paid, someone's paying him, he's betting
he's doing something. He is atrocious. And then I don't know if he's
all over the things giving weekend, but he made something he makes things personal
(02:59):
with Chris Paul. Chris Paul cameout and said that they had a meeting
when he was with the Los AngelesClippers to address Scott Foster making it personal
against him and something to do withhis son. But I digress. Why
does in the NFL do something likethat to where you review they judge them
every week everything, every single play. Hey, they get they get evaluated
(03:21):
every week they do. I don'tknow what the end result of an evaluation
is. At the end of theyear, you don't get a playoff assignment.
You don't get a Super Bowl assignment. I guess, when's the last
time you heard of an NFL refereebeing suspended or demoted for missing calls?
Uh? When the last time? When's the last time you heard just from
missing calls demoted? You don't right, they evaluate them and judge them.
(03:46):
I'm sure it affects them in thehouse, like, okay, well you
can't be a crew chief, youknow, the head referee, because well,
the last three years you're sitting ateighty percent. But with a the
rest have a union in the NFLare protected right they have to. I
know major League Baseball has that.I'm not sure. I'm assuming they do.
I'm pretty sure. So with thatin mind, it's like a Vegas
(04:11):
casino dealer. You know why thatyou walk into a Vegas casino. I'm
not saying, you know, somepeople say you got to skew younger in
business. Well, twenty five yearolds don't usually pay the bills the union.
By the way, there you go, twenty five year olds in business
don't usually pay the bills. Likesomebody, listen, it's usually I'm not
saying twenty five year olds owner money. But when it comes to like advertising.
(04:32):
It ain't coming out of a twentyfour year old that just walked off
a college campus's wallet, usually rightas they work their way up. But
with unions, you got the union. Like in Vegas Francis, you want
to be a blackjack, they gotunions to protect them. Why do you
think you walk into a bar?I'm not saying that old people, you
know what I think. I thinkwe need more wise old people than than
(04:53):
what is? What's what's this generationcalled the gen Z could learn from some
adios? Are we still in thegen Z? I don't. I can't
keep up. I don't even knowwhat they when it is? But you
give me the respect factory. Wecould use a few more wise old people
that have seen a bunch of generationsright and learn how to manage it.
I digress. But they're protect That'swhy you see an eighty year old black
check dealer or bartender. Why wouldyou leave a job that makes you more
(05:16):
than a six figure manager job makingone hundred and twenty I trust me,
I know this for a fact.Yeah, you're walking away from one hundred
and fifty thousand bucks. Is abartender at a bar that has with tips
and the rest of it. Andyou say, well, why is that
person works still seventy in doing this? Why? Well, union protect you
can't walk. They don't even haveto lift a towel to wipe off a
(05:42):
counter if it's the bar backs jobdoes that? You get what I'm saying
here. So the union protects them, like all unions do. You protect
your guys, same thing here,And you wonder how come we don't fire
them because you protect We missed afew calls, that's what. They ain't
going anywhere until they retire. Sothe union, the union will protect them,
just like they're doing the NFL.So even though you're not going to
know for the most part, weekin and week out, what's told to
(06:04):
that side judge in a meeting, even though he may have missed three calls.
It a referee who's staring right ata quarterback getting hit in the face,
oh like we saw the other night. And and because job staring at
him, it doesn't do anything.Or the vice versus staring right at him,
guy brushes him with a shoulder andthrows a flag and calls it a
personal foul, roughing the passer andthe passer all he did was brush by
(06:25):
him, hit him with a shoulderon the shoulder the second the balls released.
So I can't keep up. Butyou want to know what, Yes,
they evaluate, evaluate him every time. But for them inside, I
want to be the head referee.Well you missed too much. But for
you, you the truth is ifI said name the sixteen head referees in
the league that are calling the gameevery week, you'd know hockey league.
(06:45):
You'd know some, but you're notgoing to know all of them or how
that guy got to that point, right, But head referees twelve years,
twenty five years, twenty two years, twenty eight years, why, Yeah,
got a union protected them and theygot they put their crew together.
I'm wondering does a crew get Doesthe top rated crew chief meaning umpire and
or referee get to choose his guysstart rewarding them. I don't know.
(07:10):
Maybe they do. But if you'rethe head referee, like your hockey leagues
kid, and you're having a greatseason do the next year? Is that
part of your reward that you getto say that side judge is the highest
rated side judge, We're the highestrated. I'm the highest rated referee.
I want that highest rates on mycrew or does the NFL just say now
you go here, you go here, like a draft, you don't get
to choose, right, I don'tknow all the referee progra That's my point.
(07:31):
They are so important in the game, and we in truth as a
player. As a broadcaster, allthese I don't know. And I've got
from Jim Tunney to a lot ofthese Dickhantac buddies of mine that have been
in officiating for a long time.I don't know the protocol. I didn't
know the protocol for them when Iplayed, and I don't know the protocol
now for how deep is the evaluations? I mean, they don't have to
answer questions after security leads them intothe into the locker room, So I
(07:57):
don't know where the evaluation where itends. You know where it starts.
They're going to go in and watchtape the rest of it. But how
much tape do they have to watchon the opponent? And I always wonder
this. I guess maybe it's wortha question getting an official on like,
for instance, let's say the assignmentfor the Texans they're playing Denver. Right,
HM, you probably know who thereferee cru is. Now what don't
you know by Tuesday Wednesday? Whothe referee cruse so you can travel plans?
(08:18):
Right? Yeah? Does that refereecrew they know the game they're getting
assigned. Are they studying? Arethey going back and watching tape of the
offensive line of the Texans and saying, this guy has a tendency to hold,
let's keep an eye on him,or this guy's clean, let's not
watch him. And they I'm wonderingdo they like a team. Do they
(08:39):
study game plans and say, thisteam likes to run the football down here,
so let's keep an eye on this, or do they just go into
a game clean so we'll just react. What is their preconceived notions of a
football team? And when do youthink about the Raiders over the course of
time, What's first thing comes toyour mind when it comes to officials.
They've always I don't know in thelast few years, but when the Raiders
were good about the John Madden Raiders, Ted Hendrix, George Atkinson, Jack
(09:05):
Tatum, Howie Long though and beforeLester Hayes, Mike Kynes, you know
what they did, They'd be inthe top one or two in penalties every
year, personal fouls and guess whatbut they'd win. They were nasty.
They send a message. So whenyou think Raiders, you oil silver and
black patch on the how you knowyou first think you're gonna be a team
that's highly penalized. I wonder ifofficials go in with that preset mindset,
(09:26):
or if a team's a finesse softteam, we don't have to worry about
the run, you know what Imean. I don't know all the protocol
or their preparation. I know damnwell this. If I was a referee
and I got the Denver Houston gamethis week, I'd be studying. I
would watch tape like a coach, study and my opponent about what the keys,
what they do best, so Iknow what I'm gonna If they're running
the football eighty percent of the time, guess what I'm gonna do. Make
sure I keep inside, make surethat I understand right. Yeah, look
(09:50):
for any tendency to get it's analyticsfor them too. Correct. You don't
guess, But I'm just saying,at least you get a head start because
guess what the players are than thereferees A lot faster. Yeah, they
move around quicker. I would addmore referees I would, you know why,
just like I'd add more cameras, more eyes, one guy making the
decision, but more eyes saying, well, you missed that holding. I
got that one. Why can't wehave a referee and a guy like a
(10:13):
caddy with him? You know weall got the head ref watching them all
on the back of the quarterback.Have somebody is specifically your refeen. You're
simply watching one thing hits on thequarterback, nothing more. You know,
you talked about the cameras thing, and there was the topic I brought up
yesterday, that Tank Dell catch andhow there was the picture that I have
of a photographer. You realize thedon't they don't even have They don't have
cameras. Certain games don't have certaincameras. Yes, why is that not
(10:35):
least? Why that's why you're talkingabout. It's not uniformity, It's not
uniformity. Why is that? Whyis that even a thing? Well,
listen, I knew all this about, and it's not just because of that
that missed call. Like league, why that's one call we could have.
You could have grabbed the guy thejersey holding the Petrie hole call. Either
way, they just can't miss thecalls it the normal naked eye at home
(10:58):
can get right, and even whenyou go look at it, you still
don't get it right. No,that's not right. A noon game has
less cameras than the three thirty gamefor a stadium. Here's I just don't
understand. That's why I'm saying, well, do they have that camera?
To me? Part of the NFLProtocol Competition Committee is to get thirty two
owners and say, here's the deal. If you don't have these cameras in
(11:22):
your stadium for instant replay, Idon't know. You have to before the
season cameras check it. If theyLet's say you got twenty eight cameras in
the stadium and you want to addfour more. You want where you want
to get the thirty five or aneven number forty camera wherever it is from
angles. Guess what Now, theNFL's got enough money to go ahead and
(11:43):
fund it. You split the pricethe cost since it's your idea, but
you're also helping teams. It shouldbe all these rules we put in the
off season. Why in the hellwouldn't you as an NFL say I got
one rule and we're gonna have thepylon cam. This cam cameras where every
angle we can see a sideline cat. Just like you want to go into
(12:05):
a bar and watch a TV.The best bars have a TV that you
can see straight. Every seat cansee at least a TV straight if you're
a good bar in my opinion, now where you've got to dip down and
look. Every seat in that househas an angle to see at least a
TV somewhere. Same thing here. There's big money involved. Why in the
world can't you review everything? Andwhy in the world is there not a
camera? There should be protocol. If there's twenty eight cameras NRG, there
(12:26):
needs to be twenty eight cameras inLas Vegas. Yeah, it should be.
It's the well, we don't havethat camera here, but we have.
Then you're asked better put it in. Next year, you're getting fined
two hundred and fifty grand the priceof a camera for not putting it where
you're supposed to put it. That'spart of this league, dude. You
want it right, We need morecameras in your stadium protocol. Everybody's got
(12:48):
thirty five cameras, deal with it, thirty three. I don't get it,
but you know what you never will. Yeah, I will. Is
never a money thing. I knowthat. Oh no, it's always a
money thing. But it wouldn't bea money thing because they got the money
to cover it. Yeah, that'swhat I meant. Like, there's no
lack of funds being tossed around inthe NFL at all, and the owners
look at David Tepper at all. That's another topic that I want to get
(13:11):
to today. Is he one ofthe worst owners in sports. He's one
of the most impatient one. That'sthe problem is owners. A lot of
these owners really aren't football guys, and they won't hire some football guys right
below. If you're a good owner, get out of the way, sign
paychecks. If you love football, hire good football people. He's he's also
an owner of a soccer club.A lot of the fired two of their
head coaches over the last like fouror five years. It's crazy. That's
(13:33):
another topic for today's show. Iwant to keep talking about these NFL referees.
It's a big topic right now insports. How do how do the
NFL refs get held accountable? Igot some information right here. We'll go
through it next on the Seaun SalisburyShow. Trationwealth dot com, Trastionwealth dot

Texas A and M five Naggies. What come on, baby, you love

you know that folder that we talkedabout, You know it's got all the
sound effects in it. Search seeif you can find any of the Texas
A and m yel leader stuff inthere, just some throughout the show.
See if you can dig into that. Because did you see they they did
the the old sway thing last nightin the introductory press conference? Why not?
(16:44):
Why not? You better get usedto all the traditions, stop swaying
and win freaking football games. Howabout that? Why they even had the
leaders there? Can get tuned in. Yeah there you go, put that
arm pit and point. Yeah, there you go, hit that four?
Yeah, Man, gets me firedup. You want to be the choreographer
of that? Me and you?No? Not me? No? Why
(17:07):
not? I'll watch from the distance. You hang in chap up the great
work. I love what you're doingin the community. And I thought we
were in this love together. Whenit comes to that, you're an A
and M. You master, Ihave, I have receipts. You want
me to break the receipts out. There's able there. There's a gift of
me and you two, and thatthat's just part of love. It's all
(17:29):
done in a love. Yeah, exactly, it's all out of love.
We're in this love together. Absolutelywe are. You asked a question last
segment, Sean, if you knowtalking about refs being held accountable on how
that happens. Well, refs inthe NFL indeed are held accountable. And
it's like you kind of mentioned. The highest graded officials are rewarded by working
postseason games. Those who have hadsubpar performances during the regular season watch the
(17:55):
playoffs from home. Officials whose performanceperformance is worse than sub can be subject
to remediation or a demotion. NFLreferees work on a year to year contract.
If they don't do their job well, there's a chance they will not
be brought back the following year. There have actually been occasions where referees have
lost their job mid season. Intwenty eighteen, down judge Hugo Cruz was
(18:18):
fired mid season after a blatant missedfalse start in a Week six game between
the Browns and the Los Angeles Chargers. His dismissial fire after missing one illegal
procedure pedalies false start, false start. His dismissal reportedly was based on Cruise's
performance failing to meet league standards overa sustained period of time. It was
(18:41):
the first mid season firing of anofficial in the Super Bowl era. So
it wasn't one that was the cherryon top. They'd been missing and missing,
missing. Then he missed a blatantfalse start and they sent him to
the bus stop. Yeah, sothey're subject to a weekly evaluation process.
How many of them they'll lose theirjob after a week? No, none
(19:02):
or and most don't lose it aftera year. But what's what's that guy's
named Hugo? You go Cruise?I know, you know wherever I go,
you go, Hugo you go go, you go go go. Yeah,
love, Hugo go go. Ido. I don't know what happened.
I wonder if that was just theend of it. I mean,
if just if they gave him achance, like, do they put him
in a probationary status as an officialor they tell him to get to step
(19:25):
in. Let's see what's Hugo Cruzdoing these days? You just googled Hugo
Cruise. Oh is he back? That's why I said, do they give
him a chance to come back?Take a little time off, go get
yourself right, maybe get in thebooks. That's what you tell them,
Hey, go get study up.We'll see you back out here. Hugo.
No, he's not back. Didn'tNo. I wonder what he's doing
(19:45):
now. So I'm trying to findwhat do you what do you think he's
doing? A partying, probably hangingout so he doesn't have to listen to
guys like you ripping for missing acall, rude to Hugo and Hugo Cruise.
Not to be confused with Hugo Cruzand the Caminos. They're playing up
in Pittsburgh's coming weekend in case you'rewondering, can't wait. Yeah, I
(20:07):
don't know. So the evaluation process, I'm sure it's stringent. I am.
I'm sure they get after it andit's very you know, they listen
the referees are under a tremendous amountof stress, no doubt, to be
sharp and good. I don't wantthat gig, but they're gonna get criticized
because they make, you know, make the big money doing it when you're
one of those crews, have beenaround a while, got the good union
(20:29):
to support them and protect them, and rightfully so. But they're not above
criticism, I can sure tell youthat, and they should be evaluated like
everybody else in the workplace in theirjob. We just don't hear their evaluation
or see the written evaluation about them, because well, they protect that and
keep it in house. And youknow what, I don't blame them,
but the problem with not having themaddress the media ever is accountability. They
let the league office do it,not the guy who made the call.
(20:51):
But I would imagine, like anythingelse, if you're a salesperson you don't
make a sale for ten years,I would imagine you're probably not a salesperson
with that company anymore. Is samething here. If you keep missing calls
and you're evaluate eighty percent eighty percent, and you're missing twenty percent of the
calls weekly, I would imagine overa sustained amount of time that if you
can't sustain a certain score that we'veeither got a demochi or this job's not
for you. I get it withreferees, and they got a lot because
(21:15):
now if we keep missing everybody, everybody every week thinks the referees are against
them. I saw, oh referees, NFL wants the Texans to lose.
That's not true. You just gotan officiating crew that sucked last week,
had a bad week. They don'tall suck. Some missed it and they
got most of the calls right. But the ones they did miss were a
little too blatant for me and you. Not that they care, but they
(21:36):
were. I think they want toget them right. So no, the
NFL doesn't have it in for theJaguars, or for the Texans or for
somebody else. They don't. Butyou still got to get it right.
And the gripes are very very fair. The problem is you'll hear any time
there's a call against somebody, you'llhear the crowd oh boo boo, even
when it's blatantly right. Then therewas plenty that were blatantly right that they
(21:56):
but you know, a handful equalsa bunch when it's caused officials missing calls.
You missed five or six calls ina game, to me, that's
too many, especially too easy ones, right, I agree. Yeah,
there's probably more MYSS that should havebeen called than like a holding call or
a pass interference than shouldn't have beencalled. So they they they the evaluation
(22:19):
process is important, but as weall know, they don't always they don't
always get it right. So whatdo you? What are you going to
do? And they should be evaluatedhard and we should have high expectations.
Yeah, I would love to hearofficials talk after a game, at least
one of them. I've been askingfor that for years and I just and
then you're not going to get itbecause they don't want to open up that
(22:41):
can of worms. So yeah,it's just a all weekend long, not
just in the Texans game. Therewere blatant miss calls all throughout the league
on Sunday, some right in frontof officials too, like Justin Herbert running
out of bounds early in that gameand he gets rocked right in front of
you and he doesn't call it.I mean, the dude is staring at
(23:02):
the play and no flag nothing.I just I did say it's crazy,
but yet Look, I would neverwant that job. I can tell you
that I think they do a goodjob for the most part. But just
here, I don't know if it'sbeen just this year, but they are
just it seems like they just getworse and worse and worse with some of
these calls. And I'm glad theyget held accountable, but just get the
(23:26):
damn thing right. And if ithas to come up with getting more cameras
in the stadium, well then thatshould be uniformity as too. Just like
we were talking about, Let's talkTexans. Next segment, CJ. Stroud
talked about the trajectory of this team. What did he say? We'll discuss
an next on Sports Talk seven ninety. Hey, guys, are you planning

Monday Night Football twelve to ten. We're gonna talk Texans this segment seven one,
three, two, five seven items. Get out to the phone lines,
talk to John John good morning,Hey, good morning. Hey.
(26:26):
First off, you know, beforeI get to my point, I heard
who Hugo Cruz is a rapper? Now you know it's Hugo Cruse and the
Cruise and wannabes and uh, youknow they got a lounge act. I
heard they are a book that thelea my lounge. But uh, I
go because I stuffed my pockets withflags, you know, just throw them
up on stage and stuff. Yeah, I mean Hugo Cruse wants a lot
(26:47):
of flags, man, Oh yeahhe does. Yeah. So but anyways,
I think that I, you know, I kind of I disagree with
Sean. I think that the filmshould have been sent to the uh to
the NFL because uh, you know, nothing will come of it, but
these people need to be exposed becausethose calls really came at critical times when
the Texans held them. You know, they come charging off the field,
(27:08):
they're fired up, and then theygo out they have to go back out
on a really a blown call, like flagrantly blown call, and that's happened.
That happened two three times. Andso I mean it is a difference
maker in a big game like that. So I think absolutely, because but
the NFL lacks from what you're sayingis just consistency because you know, like
(27:30):
they have twenty five cameras in thisstadium, thirty five and another twenty eight
and stuff. They should just beconsistent so he can take that excuse away.
And you know, Tank said hisfeet were definitely in bounce, which
I believe him. But I thinkthe NFL just needs to be consistent first,
and then you know, some ofthese crews just need to be exposed.
I mean, I would hate tosee that crew refereeing in the playoffs,
(27:52):
put it that way. So that'sthat's what I wanted to chime that
on. Appreciated John. Let's keepit rolling here on the phone line two
five seven. Let's go to Adrian. Adrian, what's happening? Oh,
nothing, upset about my parlay lossyesterday. But it goes and it comes,
you know what I mean. Yeah, Well, don't don't get us
started on our game winning habits themine at least, all right, right,
(28:17):
I hear you, bro. We'rein the same boat, rowing on
the same side. We just don'tknow each other yet. All these Texans
whining. Look, here's your silverlining for the weekend, folks. Everybody
complaining about the refs. All right, it took the refs. We can
all agree. The Texans, thecoaching staff, offense and defense all get
(28:37):
a C minus. No less,no more Jacksonville. We all can agree
played an A game. Now ittook their A game and the so called
air quote reffs and a crossbar tostop you from winning. And you're crying.
You played your sea game and theyplay their A game. Now,
(29:02):
just imagine if you'd have played yourA game, this would have been a
blowout. So let's just stop thecrime. We took a loss. Get
over it. Denver's coming in thisweek. Restart the page. CJ.
You got to learn, brother, you want to be like Steff, take
the in between jumper in your case, that's take the checkof guy. Singletary
(29:26):
was open I don't know how manytimes, and you went down the field
take the dump off and uh tankDale not getting the ball second half at
all? Bobby Schlowig, what wereyou watching? That's my only question,
and I can't wait to hear givethe excuse for it. Other than that,
fellas have a good Tuesday piece,Thank Adrian. It was like,
(29:51):
uh, hey, zeus might knowsome referees in the NFL. Hey,
zeus, you know some referees.Uh yeah, well some of them are
retired, like Walt Anderson's He's stillat the NFL. But he's high up
as one of the official he wasreally he was really good for a long
(30:11):
time. Yes, but I willreferee high school football. He's a chapter.
And every week our film, ourDame films, we have to turn
into power port and to show themwhere we call the fouls that and the
grater, a college grader goes overit and gives us point, gives us
(30:33):
credit where it was a good tall, marginal caller there we missed the call
together. And to get into theNFL, you have to go referee college
football and they're they're more stringent thanwe are at the high school level.
And then every week at the NFLlevel, you have a I forgot how
many quit fift year one hundred questiontests you got to take. Besides,
(30:53):
you go over last week's film tosee where you did good and did not
good. I got graded dog you. So it's a lot of strict work
you gotta do to be in theNFL. Let's not just go out there
to call your Sunday game and that'sall you do. When do you get
your high school assignment for the nextweek. They start right before the season
(31:17):
starts. You know what you know? Every week in July yes, unless
something comes open and you're off andyou can pick it up. But all
larsity high school fighting nine games arepicked in the middle of July by coaches.
They all meet together and it's likethe five A and six A.
Coaches meet in the morning and theygo, I want this referee and crew
(31:38):
to referee to escape and they goweek by week in the afternoon, it's
the four three, two eight andthey do the same thing. So wait
a minute, you're telling me thatthe coaches, who you're the coaches choose
the referees they want. Yes,that seems odd that they allow. So
if I'm a coach at no orI get to choose who I want to
(32:00):
officiate my game versus the Woodlands.Wow, that that that's where it starts
wrong in the first place. Theyshould never have to say. So let
me ask you this, since you'rein that business, do you study the
weekly opponent or do you just studythe rules? For instance, if you
had a game that was going tohave Duncanville playing uh Katie High School,
(32:24):
would you study the Do you watchfilm on both teams or do you just
watch referee film. I've never saidthat we we should watch both teams.
We just need to be studying theroles because we're just that's what we're rated
on, is did we on theclip that we sent, like for a
(32:45):
false start? Those were sometimes Icalled false start and they said, yes,
false start, but it's it's tooit was too technical of a false
start, so you only get halfa point for it. Oh, gotcha.
Okay, So because they want usto be consistent, but give him
a little bit of leeway at thehigh school level where that false start,
(33:07):
that little twitch would have been afalse start at the college and professional levels.
All right, perfect, thanks, man, appreciate it. Yeah,
I manner's kind of crazy. Man. I don't think the NFL coaches get
to choose will right. I don'tthink so. And that's pretty I mean
I would choose a guy who Ialways win with. They have to they
(33:28):
have to agree, correct, Iwould assume, so it's wild. Yeah,
I would assume. So are youa conspiracy theorist guy? No,
not really, So I'm beyondest that. Yeah, he might be beyond but
my conspiracy theories are usually reality.Okay, yeah, okay, I don't
I'm not one of those guys says, hey, do you realize in January
(33:51):
fifteenth that Nick Sabans all of asudden going to take the Clemson job.
Yeah, okay, in a whereit's like and when he does, here's
what that kind of conspiracy? OrNo, I mean that that are the
sky's falling because we haven't had sunin three days or you know one of
the No, not that deep.I'm talking. Do I believe that there's
that there at times aren't coincidences thatit's like it was like certain plan mapped
(34:15):
out. Do I believe some ofthe stuff that we see in life in
sports? I don't know. Idon't know it's destined the right word or
well planned out. Yeah, Imean I I like like the universe.
Oh, I'm a big manifest Thanks. I'm not a conspiracy theory. It's
what I'm What I'm referring to islike, do you think that sports books
(34:37):
embedding? Yes, I don't thinkthey control it, but I think that
they are involved in the conversation everyweek with the NFL. That's what I
think. Yeah, I don't thinkthe NFL is making many gambling or what
haveing decisions And we're going Do Ithink that they're in constant contact with reference?
No, the game it goes on. We've seen the NBA obviously,
(35:00):
But do I think that the NFLis concerned about the gambling world and their
thoughts and how they feel and whatthey do. I think they go get
their opinion. I absolutely positive. You see it, dude. When I
first started watching college game Day,they weren't picking games on spreads or super
dogs or all that. They gotthe points spread underneath the games. A
(35:22):
lot of times now that was thatwas persona on Grotty. You could that
was taboo twenty years ago, fifteenyears ago. Now it's encouraged. The
biggest gambling thing we had at BSPNI was here was was Chris Berman's picks.
You know, the swamiyah the Swamiright. That was about as far
as it went. Everything else don'ttalk about. We don't do that now.
You ain't getting to it, saidKirk kurb Street and all the from
(35:44):
college right on up. At somepoint in time, I don't know.
Maybe they have it where you're gonnabe gambling on high school games. You
watch, you watch and see becauseyou go you got the threshold of why
wouldn't you, Why wouldn't you ifyou're if you're in and you can gamble,
or you're in Louisiana and there's abig, good championship game, not
the kids betting, because you canlimit who bets now on a seventeen year
(36:07):
old. Right. Yeah, you'retelling me that at some point in time
that with all the money involved, that you're not gonna if somebody's not gonna
be able to bet on a howyou can gamble on everything else. Why
the hell wouldn't they let you beton the state championship. Maybe they already
do. I don't even know inanother state they were. Gambling's legal.
I don't know. It seems likeat some point I don't think you can.
I don't think you can. Ithink there's a little bit you could
(36:29):
bet on the NFL. You couldn'tbetter think about nobody's gonna put a pro
team in Vegas years ago and it'sthere. So at some point in time,
aren't you, as a as abooster gonna say, oh god,
Katie's twenty one point favorites if youhad gambling here or Saint Thomas Aquanas in
Florida, don't Oh yeah, I'dlike to bet on that game. You
get my point? The problem is, now, then where does it stop?
(36:51):
But yet do I think the NFLnot controlled by but do I think
gambling has a big say in whatgoes on in scheduling and all that.
There is absolute lutely no question aboutit. That ain't a conspiracy theory.
I think that's a fact. Man. You know, going into the couple
of weeks ago, Orange Glenn HighSchool was favored by ten don't mess,
Yeah, don't mess the page. It's like, well, conspiracy theorists would
(37:13):
may say, but like reality wouldbe like when you woke up that day
and there was just a set justdangling on your forehead, right, That's
that's reality I was talking about.No, it's it's it's it sounds like
that. No, it sounds likethat's fake news. But also I just,
uh, I wanted to make surethat I got your high school correct.
So I just pulled up your Wikipai, Wikipedia, pH and they still
(37:34):
still have that you were you choseyou USC over U C L A.
B. YU Standford, Notre Damecal Arizona, Arizona State, and so
raw State. Just want to makesure don't fighting patriots, Okay, Orange
Glenn, red White and all patriotsat Orange Glenn and Escondido. Yeah,
check that out streets. Hey,that's how's he playing? That's how's he
playing? For the pats bro Iwant to go out there and watch it.
(37:57):
Man, And then like these guysnow are like, hey, I
say, I saw Sean's highlight video. You know, did you know you
want a greak up? I don'tknow if the Great Cup is great?
Let's talk Texans. C J.Stroud had some good stuff to talk about
the trajectory. What's what's that allabout? It's next on The Shawn Salisbury
Show. The Sean Salisbury Show continues, got Me Up by Night, all
(38:31):
those singing his love songs, shegot me up bun Night, constant Rick
and then love songs. She gotme up by night, down and out
with these love songs. She gotme up by night, down and out
with these love song and she gotme up night donand sang his love song
(38:52):
she got Me Up Night. Yeah, that's the trick. And then love
songs she got Me Up by Nightor got New York. Okay, you're
listening to the Shawn Salas Ray Showhere on Sports Talk seven nine. You
can also listen to us on thefree iHeartRadio app Rockets back in action taking
(39:15):
on Dallas tonight seven thirty tip off, six thirty lunch pat right here on
seven out of your home for Rocketsbasketball. Mike Elko introduced as a new
head coach for the Texas A andM fight Naggies Bears beat the Vikings in
Monday Night football. CJ Stroud afterthe loss talked about, there's your trajectory
of this team, and this iswhat the quarterback of the Texans had to
(39:35):
say. You can see the trajectorwrong we're taking. There's a lot of
things we can learn from. ButI think we're we're at we're at and
size the limits. Still, there'sno no confidence taking away in this loss.
We're gonna learn from. We're gonnaget better and go get a dub.
Sky's a limit, baby, Geta dub? Are they there?
Are they gonna? What does ittaste a dub? What is that called?
(39:57):
Eat it up? Eat a dub? Yeah? Jameis Winston doesn't Jim
Winston was doing the just don't givethat speech, CJ. Don't give there.
We're gonna eat a dub. Didyou see what Jameis Winston was doing
the other night? I don't paymuch attention to what he's doing. Triple
did you see it? I heardyou giggle just now. Okay. So
Ludacris performed at halftime. Luda sorry, yeah, and you know he's got
a song called Move Bitch. DerekCarr was sitting on the bench while Luda
(40:21):
was finishing his performance and he wassinging move Bitch, and Jamis was rapping
the song in front of him, like looking at him in his eye.
It's the funniest, one of thefunniest videos because you know, Jameis Winston
is like off the map with likesome of his antics. Dude, he
was like getting into it. Likeimagine me standing in front of you,
Sean, You're like looking at yourplaybook or you're looking at your iPad or
whatever they got on the sideline, trying to look through this, yeah the
(40:42):
surface. Yeah, sorry, right, and I'm just like, move bitch,
get out the way, and likejust I'm you know, getting into
it. But the way you stareday, dude, Jamis is the national
treasure and must be protected at allcosts, not for his football but for
his antics. No, he shouldhilarious, but don'tlet him give you have
motivational for that definitely not. No, don't do that. Who's better?
(41:02):
Oh, here we go. Whohas a better motivational speech? Aggie?
Yell? Leaders? You know whereI was going with that? Leaders?
You sure? Yes? Come on? Man says that dude. Did you
see the eat of dub He's lickinghis fingers. Yeah no, no,
absolutely not. Yeah, okay, eat it dub? So you rather whole
(41:27):
rock? No, I'd rather youhang over eat it dub? I't eat
no dub. Okay, So whatdid c J say? He said,
Sky's elem guys a limit. Uh, go get this dub. Let's go
get a dub? And what elsewe The record is what it is,
is what it is. Uh.He's learned the Alex Bregman school of approach
(41:49):
to to Well, I love theguy and good I like his style,
but just just just keep on doingyour thing. Man, triple, can
you run that audio back force realquick? Well, let's let's hear it
just one more time. Yeah,it's a pretty pretty Alex Bregman ish.
This is c J shroud. Youcan see the trajectionment wrong, we're taking
There's a lot of things we canlearn from, but I think we're we're
we're at and with size and limits. Still there's no no confidence taking away
(42:15):
in his laws. We're gonna learnfrom We're gonna get better and go get
a doub strides learning at where we'reat, Go get a dub. Sky's
a limit. That is pretty Uh, that's I mean, and I mean
this obviously affectionately giving you all thecliches you ever need. See. All's
Caleb Williams has to do is dothat. Nobody will quit criticize that far
of the meeting. Just say that. It's all he had to do.
(42:37):
Just show up and and read downyour three by five card, the five
cliches. Love my teammates, Yep. We practice and we're practicing hard every
week getting better. Yep, Isay, I think that you know,
the sky's the limit really is.We've got great We've got great guys in
this leadership in the locker room.Listen, we're just going out there to
(42:58):
get a dub. Every We're goingto take it a data time and go
get it up. We're gonna learnfrom arm mistakes. Yes, we're gonna
learn from this one. Yeah, you have to the guys play hard.
Yes, I believe in our team. We got great leadership, great veterans
appreciate him, and uh, we'regonna go get it up. And you
know what, he didn't want todo that. Cale Williams Now he's gonna
(43:20):
he's probably gonna be a third roundpick. Well really because he didn't sure
sure he is? Well, Carolineis gonna draft the day is gonna come
in and say, hey, let'stake this guy after a year and already
get rid of Bryce Young that youmay hear something like that temper, what
would it surprise you? No,talk about moved get out the way,
Dave Tepper, Just just get outthe way. Yeah. You may not
(43:43):
like Frank Craik, but really isokay? So if eleven games isn't good
enough for a coach, should elevengames? If a players not playing well,
should we cut him? Well,I mean in David Tepper's eyes,
yeah, sorry, Bryce, Hey, listen, you may have replaced Frank
Craik. I mean, they didn'twaste any time. Frank didn't even get
a chance to say, well youleft me, But it was inevitable.
This is Dave Tepper how he doesthings. And they also fired Josh McCown
(44:05):
and they fired Uhuce Staley. Iwas gonna say ud ccount Staley is held
in high regard as one of thebest assistant coaches in this league. Gone
Josh McCown man. I thought hewas like the next guy, like he
was the prophet. You know.Well, according to Jack easterb you was
well head coach goes and he broughtyou in doesn't bode well for you.
(44:25):
It all points to offensively, we'renot doing what I want that Bryce Young
needs more help. That's basically. But I can tell you this, Without
good players, it won't matter whatcoach you bring in for Bryce Young.
Can you just so you understand that? You just think about how everything worked
out that last play for the Texans, Davis Mills throwing that bomb on fourth
and eighteen or whatever it was, touchdown, They win that game, get
(44:49):
the second pick. It's not listenif it was, if it was an
exact science, I mean, mygoodness. Yea, even the experts miss
on the experts, it's just crazy, crazy to look at all. Right,

Aggies in College Station. The Bearsbeat the Vikings in a barn burner twelve
(47:52):
to ten on Monday Night Football.Let's keep talking Texans here. One thing
that stood out to me, SeanDevin Singletary also had Damian Pierce back in
the ball game, so they splittime. But that run game for the
Texans and that loss was not existent. CJ. Stroud led the rushing attack
for the Texans. YEA, hisfeet were really good in that game too.
(48:14):
You just didn't for some reasons, you didn't want him to be that
good because that I mean, youdidn't want him to have to use them
like he did. Because there werea lot of pressures double digits between sacks
and pressures by Jacksonville. They canget after the quarterback without blitzing, and
Josh Allen's really good. I'm notsure which Josh Allen's better at their position
(48:35):
right now. It may very wellbe Jacksonville's Josh Allen better than Buffalo's even
though that Josh Allen two and ahalf sacks you got and he's double digits
against against the Texans. Yeah,he's wearing people out and he did in
college and he's doing it in theNFL as well. For me, I
know understand Lamar or Josh Fields.Josh Fields a justin Fields who's not still
(48:58):
hasn't advanced to the level of dropback pass or pocket guy. I understand
once in a while when a guylike Josh Allen would lead his team in
rushing, which happened a lot inthe past. I don't really want CJ
strive to lead my team in rushing. Jade and Daniels can because that's built
in on our pos and what he'sdoing about I really don't need that,
but I like to have that optionthat if he needs to extend plays he
(49:19):
can and he's That's another part ofhis game that's so highly underrated, his
feet and movement in and out ofthe pocket. Matt Ryan did a great
job of pointing out how active withoutbeing hurried his feet are. Those are
my words, but basically that's whatMatt was telling you in the broadcast over
the weekend. But listen, whenthey're at their best. You saw two
(49:40):
or three weeks with three weeks ina row. Of the last three weeks
heading into this game, the leadingrusher in the NFL had been Devin Singletary,
and it just if you want to, you can be aggressive without having
to throw every down. You canbe aggressive in a run game. It's
just say ran listen, you're gonnarun into it team. And it was
one of those games where they justthey couldn't move the pile. And the
(50:02):
front seven for Jacksonville is not ajoke. They're pretty good. So you
know the former first pick of thedraft with Trayvon Walker a couple of years
ago, so that there last yearin twenty twenty two, was it twenty
yeah, twenty twenty two, Soyou're looking at a team that's pretty good.
But that doesn't mean you go intothis week trying to abandon it.
(50:23):
The great thing for the Texans isthey do have the unique ability which everybody's
not capable of doing, of beingone dimensional and still winning on offense.
We've seen it now. The problemis as you get closer to the playoffs,
guess what, it's colder, it'smore difficult. It's when you get
into January. The teams are allgood, and if they stunned something,
(50:45):
you can't abandon it, unless,of course you're down three touchdowns, which
you don't want to be. Butyou have to do everything necessary to try
and be balanced. But they dohave the ability with this quarterback to be
unique enough to throw it. Hey, they're driving to tie or win a
game and their run game doesn't work, so they're always in it because the
(51:06):
number seven's got that ability. Butof course you want to get back to
this week on your practice field ofToday is usually a day off for them,
so they'll have their day off,but you want to get back to
focusing on what made you good threeprevious weeks in a run game, so
you don't want to abandon it.And Singletary is good. Here's part of
the problem too. Singletary and nevergot into a rhythm because who else was
in the game. Yeah, DamianPierce. They split, they want their
(51:28):
split in time. I'm not sayingyou shouldn't put piercing, but with this
run game, the way they're doingit, the patients and you see it,
how let people push it aside andthe cutback ability right now, Singletary
is better, more patient runners. We've talked about. So at some point,
I know you want to get bothin, but you at some point
can't sacrifice the run game because youwant to appease two players. And you
(51:50):
know how I feel about Pierce.I love him. He just needs more
work in this and whether it's onthe practice fielder once in a while,
but you know what, if itmeans Singletary's got to touch it twenty two
times twenty four times, I'm okaythat, you know. I mean he's
been successful less than ten. Hehad six, not enough Damian Pierce five.
They only ran the football eighteen times. Yeah, and it was a
one score game. Yeah, onescore game. So they're gonna have to
(52:13):
be better at that. But weknow that. But they do have the
ability. They can beat then forone dimensional this week as long as their
defense doesn't give up four plays offorty yards or more. You don't want
to go one dimensional, But Isure like the option of saying, hey,
guess what, Josh Allen's not runningit, but I can throw it.
CJ. Stroud had in trouble today. We're not running it, but
he can throw it forty times andstill beat it. We've seen that movie.
Yeah, But I also think youhit on it perfectly. Is the
(52:36):
fact that Damian Pierce was active andback in the ballgame they tried to split
the carries and you could just seethat there was no rhythm there with the
running game at all, and thatwas early. Do not discount how important
it is for a runner, justlike anybody. Everybody talks about a quarterback
getting rhythm. He's completed five, six, seven, eight in a row.
Some running backs four five, sixcarries and ten snaps. They'll get
(52:57):
to feel in it. And thenit's just like anything else when things are
moving, and it's one thing onthe sidelines to watch your buddy do it.
It's another thing on film to watchit. But when you're out there
and you have to make the gamemoves at a whole different pace. When
the ball snapped, it's like whenyou go through journalism school in the red

(54:30):
Vikings in a barn burner twelve toten on Monday Night Football. To keep
talking Texans here, one thing thatstood out to me, Sean Devin Singletary
also had Damian Pierce back in theball game, so they split time.
But that run game for the Texansand that loss was non existent. CJ.
Shroud led the rushing attack for theTexans. Yeah, his feet were
(54:52):
really good in that game too.You just didn't for some reasons, you
didn't want to be that good becausethat I mean, you didn't want I
want him to have to use himlike he did because there were a lot
of pressures double digits between sacks andpressures by Jacksonville that can get after the
quarterback without blitzing. And Josh Allen'sreally good. I'm not sure which Josh
(55:13):
Allen's better at their position right now. It may very well be Jacksonville' Josh
Allen better than Buffalo's even though thatJosh Allen two and a half sacks and
he's double digits against against the Texans. Yeah, he's wearing people out,
and he did in college and he'sdoing it in the NFL as well.
I I for me, I knowunderstand Lamar or Josh Fields, Josh Fields
(55:35):
a Justin Fields who's not still hasn'tadvanced to the level of drop back passer
pocket guy. I understand once ina while when a guy like Josh Allen
would lead his team in rushing, which happened a lot in the past.
I don't really want CJ strive tolead my team in rushing. Jaydeen Daniels
can because that's built in on RPOsand what he's doing. I really don't
need that, but I like tohave that option that if he needs to
(55:58):
extend plays, he can and he'sThat's another part of his game that's so
highly underrated, his feet and movementin and out of the pocket. Matt
Ryan did a great job of pointingout how active without being hurried his feet
are. Those are my words, but basically that's what Matt was telling you
in the broadcast over the weekend. But listen, when they're at their best.
(56:19):
You saw two or three weeks, three weeks in a row. Of
the last three weeks heading into thisgame, the leading rusher in the NFL
had been Devin Singletary, and itjust if you if you want to,
you can be aggressive without having tothrow every down. You can be aggressive
in a run game. It's justsay rant, listen, you're going to
run into a team. And itwas one of those games where they just
(56:40):
they couldn't move the pile. Andthe front seven for Jacksonville is not a
joke. They're pretty good. Soyou know the former first pick of the
draft with Trayvon Walker a couple ofyears ago, so that there last year
when twenty twenty two was it twentyyeah, twenty twenty two. So you're
looking at a team that's pretty good. But that doesn't mean you go into
this week trying to abandon it.The great thing for the Texans is they
(57:05):
do have the unique ability which everybody'snot capable of doing, of being one
dimensional and still winning on offense. We've seen it now. The problem is
as we get closer to the playoffs, guess what, it's colder. It's
more difficult when you get into January. The teams are all good, and
if they stunned something, you can'tabandon it, unless, of course,
(57:28):
you're down three touchdowns, which youdon't want to be but you have to
do everything necessary to try and bebalanced. But they do have the ability
with this quarterback to be unique enoughto throw it. Hey, they're driving
to tie or win a game andtheir run game doesn't work, so they're
always in it because the number seven'sgot that ability. But of course you
want to get back to this weekon your practice field of Today is usually
(57:52):
a day off for them, sothey'll have their day off, but you
want to get back to focusing onwhat made you good three previous weeks in
a run game. Oh, youdon't want to abandon it. And Singletary
is good. Here's part of theproblem too, Singletary and never got into
a rhythm because who else was inthe game, Yeah, Damian Pierce.
They split, they want their splitin time. I'm not saying you shouldn't
put piercing, but with this rungame, the way they're doing it,
(58:12):
the patients and you see it,how let people push it aside and the
cutback ability right now, Singletary isbetter more patient runners. We've talked about.
So at some point, I knowyou want to get both in,
but you at some point can't sacrificethe run game because you want to appease
two players. And you know howI feel about Pierce. I love him.
He just needs more work in thisand whether it's on the PRACXE fielder
(58:34):
once in a while. But youknow what, if it means Singletary's got
to touch it twenty two times, twenty four times, I'm okay with that.
He's been successful less than ten.He had six, not enough,
Damian Pierce five. They only ranthe football eighteen times. Yeah, and
it was a one score game.Yeah, one score game. So they're
going to have to be better atthat. But we know that. But
they do have the ability. Theycan beat Denver one dimensional this week,
(58:58):
as long as their defense doesn't giveup four plays of forty yards or more.
You don't want to go one dimensional, but I sure like the option
of saying, hey, guess what, Josh Allen's not running it, but
I can throw it. CJ.Stroud has in trouble today. We're not
running it, but he can throwit forty times and still beach it.
We've seen that movie. Yeah, but I also think you hit on it
perfectly. Is the fact that DamianPierce was active and back in the ballgame
they tried to split the carries, and you could just see that there was
(59:20):
no rhythm there with the running gameat all, and that was early.
Do not discount how important it isfor a runner, just like anybody.
Everybody talks about a quarterback getting rhythm. He's completed five, six, seven,
eight in a row. Some runningbacks four five, six carries and
ten snaps, they'll get the feelingit. And then it's just like anything
else when things are moving, andit's one thing on the sidelines to watch
(59:40):
your buddy do it. It's anotherthing on film to watch it. But
when you're out there and you haveto make the game moves at a whole
different pace. When the ball snapped, it's like when you go through journalism
school in the red light, you'relike, oh, I got this,
and then you go to real worldand well, I prepared for this,
and they push that red light awhole bunch more people are watching different stories.
Everything speeds up. Every get yourspeed, you you talk faster,
(01:00:01):
every everything speeds up. You're free. You're like, WHOA, it's gonna
be okay. The great players cantake all that harried craziness and chaos and
slow it all down. And rightnow in the run game, Singletary's ability
to slow it down while being urgentwith his lower half, but his mind
and vision seeing things before. Theyhave great runners. Don't just see,
(01:00:24):
they feel the first hole seat thesecond one. I've watched it Emmitt Smith
was not fast, Marcus Allen wasnot fast fast enough. But what they
did do They knew the blocking scheme. Oh, this guy's got an outside
eye. My guy's gonna cut himoff, so that the opportunity is probably
gonna be inside. All the guyshead up the inside, we're gonna hook
him. I could put my footin the ground and get outside. They
(01:00:45):
study these little things and they alreadyknow. Okay, I already know where
the first hole is gonna hit.Now where's the second guy coming from?
At the second level, that's wherebig runs come. And that's why you
got to get guys in the inthe receivers, also in the downfield,
next level blocking game, even ifthey're not having big success, because at
one time it may take one andwhen you you know, break one for
forty four yards can be the differencein a football game. Got to stick
(01:01:07):
to the run without forcing it downtheir throat. Now let's get out to
Brad real quick before it gets thestake out. Brad. What's up?
Hey, Hey, what's up?Guys? Look, I agree with the
caller a couple of calls ago whoplayed our sea game. My other opinion
is, look, we're a youngteam. We're not gonna get it.
Recall that's part of it. Numberthree. You sit back and you don't
(01:01:29):
know what the rests are telling theseguys. Hey, Dico, you got
to give you a better set beforey'all go in motion. They could have
told him that three times and thenthey didn't. The h the Albula has
been a big believer too. Sometimesyou hit the guy holding when he's not
holding. Get your porn across. You better hold the whole game. I'm
gonna hit you when you're not well. You made a great block. That's
(01:01:49):
just my opinion. Tank Dale's catch, I mean, if it would have
went for us, if they'd havecalled it a catch, they'd probably ruled
it as a kitch. So it'sall gonna work out. The blame of
the officials. You just got toyou got to turn the page and move
on. You're right. Unions arestrong. Numbers are even stronger for your
smaller numbers. So we're gonna goback to one day probably in five years
(01:02:14):
or three or four more years, when the reps are gonna walk out.
Yeah, we're gonna have the scabsback if we're really gonna be screaming.
So, I mean they're doing thebest job they can. You know,
like the guys said, turn thepage, move on, time to go
to Denver. Agreement with Brad.Yes, they do have a difference and
(01:02:35):
John as well. They make adifference. They they the calls are important
to get right. But guess what. Every team in the league every week
is affected by a call they thinkwas missed. Jacksonville's pissed because they missed
calls against them. The Raiders aremad. Every team's fan base and the
team is mad every week because theymissed calls. But I can tell you
this is that it is not thatthat's not the reason they lost the game.
(01:02:58):
If they've assisted it, yeah, but it's not that he's not the
reason they lost game. And assure, so, how not just the
reason Jacksonville did. I'll take thefour big plays over forty yards more than
i will take Dell's in completion. That was a catch, Okay, so
they're right, and they do agood job for the most part. They
miss some and it's hyper sensitive themore you go. But listen, there,
I can point to twenty plays inthe game it said, if you'd
have executed this on offense or defensebetter, the referees call wouldn't have made
(01:03:21):
a difference in the end. Whileit matters, it's not the reason the
Philadelphia Eagles are not ten and onebecause the referees favor them every week.
They're ten and one because they're betterthan you, meaning everybody else in this
league. It's the way it is. Yeah, so you got to overcome
it and keep moving on. Andwhen you get there. It's a loser's
lament to blame referees for losses everyweek. It is a full blown loser's
(01:03:42):
lament. Yeah, let's umpires, referees, all of it. It's they
make mistakes, but they also rarelycost you the game. Yeah, it's
also not forget about a third downand one and you launch it thirty yards
down the field, and a fourthand one you launched it thirty five yards
down the field to a tight endrunning a fade route. I mean,
that's just low percentage. Truth isas high IQ as we have here.
It is low IQ football. Andyou know what's funny. And he brought
(01:04:04):
it up real quick, Brad did, and so did. We talked about
A and is this is this orI think it was Adrian. Adrian brought
up C C game. Yeah, think about this. If we're calling that
a seed they were with this onescore, the number one that they're eight
and three the Jags, Yes,the Jags are. If that's our C
game, think about that was theirA game the last three years. That's
(01:04:27):
been the TEG. What you sawon Sunday was the Texans A game the
last three years. So if you'rereally pointing to their C games as the
way they played, then things aregoing to be just fine. I think
they played a little bit better thanC. I don't think they executed the
way they want to. But that'swhy it's if it was If you're a
golfer, tennis player, it's adifferent story. That's a full team.
Eight guys can be doing it.If three aren't, that A game becomes
(01:04:48):
a C game. If that's theirCE game, then the sky's the limit.
What happens if they scored more pointsin Denver this week? They win.

give me your thoughts on it.You ready, Yeah, all right,
Tripley, go ahead and run thataudio. Oslo. Let these guys play
(01:07:01):
those last son who we are notenough to booing. I'm punning the fans
to lay off Kawhi Leonard. Yeah, I saw that last week. That
was over the weekend on Thanksgiving Thanksgivingweekend, they were playing and the Clippers
(01:07:23):
the Spurs were at home, andthe faithful of the Spurs booed Kawhi every
time he touched the basketball. Popuh, obviously thought he was at a
high school gym telling people the fourhundred and fifty people at the high school
gym do not boo the opposing that'snot who we are, okay, sportsmanship.
(01:07:45):
I understand if they were throwing things. We've seen that movie before many
times. Don't throw things. Theybooed, KWHI Leonard, and I would
have started booing Pop if he toldme not to be. I'm not a
booing guy. I don't boo.I don't care enough. I really don't.
I can't remember a boot. Youmay joking around boo and if you
know, I'm more apt to boothe guy who's beaten the what's that guy?
(01:08:08):
The mister freeze who's running you gotthe leader trip and fall in the
outfield morning that guy for fun?Right, I am gonna boo my boo
bear, you know, gonna boomyou know a player. I just thought
that's just not me, but people, you know you paid the ticket.
Boo who you want. I reallydon't think it's that big a deal or
not throw anything. I don't know. It's like Pop said you. It
(01:08:30):
was almost like he was had togo out and protect his child, right
because Kawhi was his guy for along time. Right, He's he's this
whole thing. Pop thinks that everythinghe says people want to hear right,
that that that's he he he andI listen, legend, great coach.
But if you want to know ifPop's opinion is important, all's you got
(01:08:51):
to do is talk to him andask him. Now, he's got a
really good approach to life about hey, keep things and be kind, you
know, all those things that attimes he's abrasive with. You know that
his politics and all that, hegets into that. So I'm just talking
about simply, this is I don'tknow where he felt that he deserved the
right to go into an NBA arenaat home and say that's not who we
(01:09:13):
are. As if he's interviewed allthose fans, some of the fans are
still pissed Atkwhi Leonard for the wayhe went out. I think a majority
of that fan base is right. So I love Greg Popovich. I don't
agree with a lot of the thingshe does or says, but I think
he's one of the legends in coaching. I think he's a difference maker.
I think he's a leader, andI think If put it this way,
if he's in your corner, goodthing. I mean, Pop's got you,
(01:09:35):
and it just goes to show youhe's got Kawhi Leonard. But I
probably that's a lane that Pop probablyshould have stayed out of. Yeah,
I would think so, you know, because fans like, well, whoa
what? Slow down? Now?I know you're Greg Popovich, but everything
you say you're not an expert on. Yeah, he should probably in my
(01:09:55):
opinion, stop telling fans how tofan right, and maybe talk to reporters
little bit more respect because that becausehe's abrasive. He's an ass. Yeah,
I is an ass. Well,he's condescending. I can tell you
this, Pop. But the firsttime a fan goes up to Pop and
says, hey man, you know, here's what you should do in a
two minutes, or a media membersays why aren't you doing this, he'd
explode on him. He would,Yet he wanted to tell a fan when
(01:10:17):
he can and can't boo pop Uh. Like I said, he's he's an
expert on all of it, right, That's what I mean. It's about
gun control. I'm a him andSteve Kerr built well when it comes to
his politics, I just I'm justsaying everything is like, it goes right
into what he always has to tellsomebody what to do, and he's told
(01:10:40):
that's right, that's exactly he's said. That's what he's doing. I don't
think and fans. I mean,if somebody won on one, if a
media member said, hey, whyaren't you doing this, he would probably
respond with why don't you come hereand coach? If you're better than I
am at this and if you're aBut but he's allowed to tell the fan
that's sitting up in the rafters thatspend all their harder money or sitting in
a good seat with their family notto boo. I may I'm not a
boer, but someone wants to booand they paid the ticket to not throwing
(01:11:02):
anything, and they don't like KawhiLeonard, Far be it for me to
tell you how to fan? Likeyou said, I think, I think
Pop goes overboard at times, andI hate saying Pop doesn't know at times
what his lane is, but hewants to tell everybody where their lane should
be. And when it comes tothat, there would be some major respect
for him. But I don't Idon't understand how some people media members allow
(01:11:28):
him to browbeat them like he does. He's been doing it. I'm to
the point now I'm a grown assman too. You ain't browbeating me,
brother, I've been in that before, and he ain't browbeating me because guess
what, I woke up like youdid this morning, and I got a
career to do, just like youdo it if you want to battle over
it, because I'm not going toget a quote from me the rest of
your screw your quote. Most ofthe time you're telling me what to do
(01:11:49):
instead of telling me what happened anyway. So I really don't care, and
yet I hold him in the highestregard. I think he's phenomenal. I
don't I don't have to agree withhim. I don't have to. I
kind of disagree with him and nothate him. I don't hate Greg pop
Viz. That's the thing nowadays.Oh you disagree, got to hate him?
No, I don't hate him.I think what he does. I
think he's overboard and a little overenthusiastic about telling you how to act once
(01:12:12):
in a while. But I cantell you one thing you want to learn,
and you want a guy who understandsbasketball. He knows it. But
you know what, now people wantto know, are you going to build
a championship team without your big boys? Everybody asks that now, right,
But if you ask that too manytimes, he's got a he's got a
big boy. Now, Pop's smart. He's stuck a red stud, you
know, stuck around because guess whyweben Yama guy's pretty good? Right?
(01:12:34):
He ain't, But wemy ain't.Ain't a bad player. But Pop had
it good pretty good players while hewas there. How we're asking Pop go
win another championship with the new guys. So people do have that question mine,
but a lot of respect for him. I just don't agree with all
he says. And he probably shouldn'tworry about the fans booing Kawhilon. He
wouldn't have said it if they werebooing a non guy he's coached. You
(01:12:56):
think he'd have told them don't booLebron. Wait, maybe Lebron because he
loves Lebron, right, but maybeI don't know what he's said. If
it was Nicola Jokic, I don'tknow. He didn't coach him. I
don't know. So anybody walking,is he gonna every hits they're Boo and
pop who we are. Let's givehim a mic. I think you should
mow every player to see I Popwill just keep coming back week he does
it. Just see see if it'sjust Kawhi Leonard. He's defending this man
(01:13:18):
actually went to the PA mic inthe middle of a game and said that
it was this high school Thanksgiving tournament. You got to be kidding me.
You've got to be kidding me,Like that actually happened over the weekend.
Yeahh God, pop pop pop poppop every now and maybe to slap upside
(01:13:38):
his head just like we all do. That's not who we are. And
then the best part is, obviouslyyou can't see it, but when he's
walking away, he does the oldlike it's like your dad like yelling at
you and your buddies when you're likeeight years old, and he's like,
no more, stop it with hishands all emotional, and so you can
actually yell out thanks Pop, andyou'd be talking to your own dad,
right exactly. Pop, Yeah, okay, I got you. What a
(01:14:00):
joke. Let's look across the NFLafter Week twelve and look at some of
these division races and how the playoffsshape up. Right now, that's next
on Sports Tuck seven eight. Hey, Men's Tea Clinic, Guys, November
and we are closing out November. But it doesn't just stop there. This

got November in celebrating not only celebratingpeople's health, but also making sure we're

That's one eight hundred two four sixlow T one eight hundred two four
six low T or Men's T Clinicdot com. You deserve to get out
(01:15:47):
of lower gear. This is theSean Salisbury show. Salesbury, that's good.
I can't wait looking than going up, just lagging of it myself,
(01:16:09):
just head a dudgeon. It's sobad I did so. We don't mind
hold wadget because ifs of it rocketstaking on the Dallas Mavericks Night up in
Dallas. She doesn't, she's sothe seven thirty tip off six point thirty,
(01:16:32):
the launch pad right here on sevenon your home for Rockets basketball,
Mike Oko introduced as the new headcoach for the Texas A and m Aggie's
Bears beat the Vikings in Monday NightFootball twelve the ten. Let's look at
some notes from around the league afterWeek twelve. In the NFL some of
(01:16:53):
the updated standings, we'll just goto the AFC. South got the Jags
in front in the division they arefour and one, the Colts in the
Division two and two, Texans atone and two, and the Titans down
at in two sean. I guessmy question to you for this segment is
(01:17:15):
who after this past weekend, obviouslywith the Thanksgiving games, Dallas played well,
Baltimore got to win, Kansas Citygotta win, Denver gotta win.
Who is the most impressive in theAFC? The whole year just passed with
just this past week. I thoughtJacksonville's win was impressive, thinking Kansas City,
(01:17:42):
Denver's won five in a row.Baltimore's defense, they don't they don't
miss tackles. Offensively, they wereokay. I'm trying to think of when
I say okay, the expectations ofMVP. I don't think Lamar's at the
top of the MVP list anymore. In the a f C, AFC North,
(01:18:04):
AFC Central, I mean a FCCentral, they ran away with it
against the Jets. Yeah, andthey should have, even though the Jets
defensive Steelers somehow won again. Yeah, yeah, their opponent wasn't very good.
I would probably say, I mean, the Chiefs just keep plodding along.
My expectation. I would probably sayit is the Denver broncos it has
(01:18:28):
to be yeah, and then thenthey you know, the pressure continues to
mounted. They got to keep winningto get in the playoffs. I would
probably say them in the a fC. Considering everything in Miami, we
have these expectations. We didn't expectthis from from Denver this year. We
expect them to be better and restto play a bit better. But everybody's
doing something better, and now SeanPayton's thrust himself into the Coach of the
(01:18:50):
Year talk. With where they've comefrom and where they are now, I
would probably say I'm most impressed withDenver this past weekend, but I still
don't. I still think Denver isgoing to struggle to make I think the
loser of this game this weekend willnot make the playoffs. That and well,
how can you say it. Ididn't say it was a fact,
because actually we have five games togo after that. If they win five
(01:19:12):
in a row, the Texans orthe Broncos, they will get in.
But the chance of either one ofthose teams winning five in a row or
not not real high. I thinkthe loser of this game is out of
this, not out of it.But I don't think that. I don't
think they'll make the playoff. Ithink it's two bunched together with go ahead
and look at the end of thehunts, they're they're all over. So
for me, I don't believe inmy mind if I if you were saying,
(01:19:36):
Sean, bet this okay, afterthe weekend, put your teams in
the playoffs, the loser of thisgame I will not have in my playoff
pule of seven. Yeah, I'min the playoff picture. I just wouldn't
have them making it. Let's seeeither team. I think this is a
monumental game for both So as itstands right now in the AFC, you
(01:20:00):
have the Texans at number eight andthe Broncos at number nine, So the
Broncos on the outside looking in,that's that game. This weekend that Buffalo,
Texans, Raiders, Broncos outside lookingin Beals, Bengals are not making
the playoffs. No Joe Burrows. They're done, ironically, which is I
(01:20:23):
mean, that's ironic that they're Theystill their offense while it got better with
a new change at offensive coordinator. The Pittsburgh Steelers right now have what six
wins or seven seven? They're sevenand four, seven and four. That's
right, because they got beat lastweek. This is a seven and four,
not this previous week, the weekbefore seven and four, and there
is six games to go for them. If they go five hundred, they're
(01:20:45):
probably getting in once again. TheMike Commin team playing over five hundred football
on a team that quite frankly offensivelyfinally looked like I mean, Naji was
running the ball hard. He gotclose I think two hundred yards. They
threw for two seventy something. Ithink with Kenny Pickett so and he was
like twenty three or thirty three orsomething. So that they and I watched
(01:21:05):
it, they were better. Theystill got a long way to go,
but their defense is relentless. Aswe know. I it's gonna be crazy.
I just think getting yourself to apoint where you this loss, you
put it this way, you canmake it. But boy, are you're
going to be in a major chasemode. And the Colts are in the
chase right now. They're still inthis chase. Matter of fact, who's
(01:21:27):
the seventh playoff team right now inthe AFC? Is it the Colts?
It's the Colts? Yeah, thereyou go, so there, because if
the Bills would have won, Coltswould have been in the hunt team and
the Bills would have been the seventhseed in the playoffs. And if the
Texans would have won, obviously they'dbe leading the division. So they'd be
over on that full left hand categoryof division leaders, one of four,
(01:21:49):
which would have been nice. It'samazing what can happen in two weeks time.
This is a I'm telling you,a monumental game for a team that
wasn't efected to be in this positionbut now is. And so you've got
to treat it like you're a playoff. You can't say, oh, everything's
gravy from here. We got tosix win. No, no, no,
you have posted what I would imaginethat locker room. They had bigger
(01:22:11):
aspirations than most of the nation thoughtthey'd have most of the NFL, and
here they are, and you cannotcontrol what Denver. Well, you can
control what Denver does this week, but you're not gonna be to control Buffalo
and all those until you play teamslike Indianapolis and Tennessee. You've got a
favorable schedule, this will be themost difficult game, at least on paper,
on your schedule. Left, gotake care of it. Yeah,
and with excuse me, with someof these other teams that are on the
(01:22:36):
outside looking in. Obviously the BuffaloBills, the Bengals, the Raiders,
and then somehow the Chargers are somewhatin the hunt, but there they're probably
going to be out. I stillagain, I'll say this till I'm blue
in the face. How does StateBrandon Staley have a job? How have
they not just gotten rid of him? Yet they're four and seven? Well,
I would imagine he's near the topof the list at next to go
(01:23:00):
guy. I mean you're talking aboutyou know, eber Fluss is still scrambling
around. He had him close againstDetroit, they won. He's trying to
salvage his gig Arizona's not doing anythingbecause I would imagine they're too cheap to
fire Jonathan Gannon right now already, because they they've always been an organization that
wants to They're gonna wait that out. They're not going to fire him,
and nor should they right now, because they really haven't been fully equipped other
(01:23:24):
teams that the Bear. We obviouslyknow that the Chargers at four wins,
the expectations are much higher for them. If this continues and they don't make
the playoffs, I don't know howhe survives it. I really don't,
honestly change. There's no question. There's something not connecting with that group,
no question. I even Rabel's teamthat struggles, Rabel's not gonna get fired.
(01:23:45):
Matter of fact, they're going togive him an extent. You watch,
They're gonna try to extend him.Rabel's Helton high regard. Man.
I'm just telling you he is.So there will be some but the Chargers
unless they make the playoffs, andthat's a far fetched right now. The
way they're playing, I don't seehow the Chargers scramble around and pull this
out and save his gig, unlessall of a sudden, the Spanos family
says, you know what, welove him a lot. We're gonna let
(01:24:05):
him do another one. I can'tsee it. Yeah, I can't either,
I really can't see it. Allright, that's the AFC. Let's
look over at the NFC. NFC, who is the most impressive team?

us on the Free iHeartRadio app.Mike Elkin introduced as the new head coach
for the Aggies. We're going totalk about that at eight o'clock. Rockets
(01:26:45):
taken on the Mavericks in Dallas tonightsix thirty. The launch pad starts right
here on seven iey, your homefor Rockets basketball, with a seven thirty
tip off Bears and Vikings. TheBears beat the Vikings in Mondaynight Football twelve
to Ten's look at the NFC afterthis past weekend? Are the Philadelphia Eagles
the most pressive team with that bigwin over the Buffalo Bills in overtime?
(01:27:08):
To you, Sean, Oh there, Yeah, I mean, I think
the NFC has got some some reallygood players and some really good teams in
at Detroit, San Francisco, Philly, Dallas. Uh, just considering all
circumstances and who they went beat andhow they do it. Yeah, give
me Philadelphia. I think Philadelphia isthe best team of football. Are we
(01:27:29):
looking at a Philadelphia and San FranciscoNFC title game? Well, you're looking
at it this weekend, which isgonna be one hell of a football game
in Philly is going to be phenomenal. Only thing we need to cap it
off is a good December. Willit be December by then? Yeah?
December snow game will be kind ofcool. Is that an afternoon game?
Let's see? Are they stick thaton Sunday night or Monday night football?
(01:27:53):
San Francisco at Philadelphia? I likeit. Give me that day game.
Yeah. I think they're the twobest teams in the NFC. Cowboys hanging
in there too, and then Detroitnot far behind. But the Cowboys.
You can make an argument if youwant that the Cowboys belong in that conversation
the top two forty nine ers andPhilly. Philly's the Philly has been the
(01:28:15):
most impressive. I just love theirpoise, and they just are resilient on
both sides of the ball, andthey got playmakers all over the place.
They don't I don't see a glaringweakness on that team, let alone a
half glaring weakness. They're gonna winmost of their games just because they're supremely
talented and execute and they're well coached. But and if it's close, they
(01:28:38):
got an advantage because the poise onthat football team is pretty damn good.
And they're resilient. I mean theyare resilient, but they are relentless with
pressure on defense, and I lovetheir quarterback. Man. They're the team
to beat in the NFL, notjust in the NFC, and that includes
Kansas City because I think that there'steams closer to Kansas City. San Francisco
and Dallas are close. I thinkthere's probably more or I don't think Kansas
(01:29:01):
City's is dominant in the AFC asPhiladelphia is in the NFC this year.
That's just my opinion. Forget therecord. I'm just talking about performance.
I think I think Philadelph's better.Now. Is Kansas City capable go and
win in another Super Bowl with thatquarterback and that coach? You bet they
are just seems like their offenses offtheir offense isn't the same, and yet
Mahome still throws for three plus andwe're like, something's not right with the
(01:29:24):
offense. They set the bar sohigh it's sick. They just don't I
don't feel like they have the samehome run hitter ability right now, or
at least execution of it. Andyet their defense to me, is keeping
them in games too. They're prettygood defensively, the Chiefs are. But
give me Philadelphia and the NFC isthe best team. And I make that
pretty And you know, I pickedSan Francisco to go to the super Bowl
(01:29:45):
this weekend. I'll tell you alot about both these teams. Even though
I think I know about Philadelphia,I still need to see one more San
Francisco big. I need to seethem go on the road. And this
is going to be as hostile environmentthey'll be in the entire year. Yeah,
up at the Link, that placeis going to be rocking. Well.
They three to twenty five kick, you know, talking about the excuse
me, the Kansas City offense.Travis Kelcey a couple of days ago finally
(01:30:11):
had you know, more receptions andtargets and things like that, ninety one
yards receiving, but then the gamesbefore that forty four yards receiving, fourteen
yards receiving, fifty eight yards receiving. He hasn't really been the big time
playmaker that we've grown accustomed to seethis season. He's had a couple of
games where he won one hundred plusback to back weeks on hundred and twenty
(01:30:32):
four yards on hundred and seventy nineyards. I was back in mid and
late October, but you really haven't. I don't know. It just seems
different. I can tell you this, well, the numbers tell you it's
different. If Travis Kelcey, ifthat's his performance, and if that's the
number of targets and catches and finisheshe has the rest of the year,
(01:30:56):
they're not going to the Super Bowl. They I don't believe person and wise
they can win a Super Bowl withoutKelsey being that dominant guy. Three catches
for fifteen yards angle, they're notwinning Super Bowl. He has got to
be. You know, you couldmake up for when he had all these
other weapons and Tyreek Hill was there, and you got all kinds of guys
if he had a down day,and he doesn't have many of them,
(01:31:17):
but if that performance would be kindof parlayed out into six weeks, that
would be the average four catches forforty eight yards and maybe a touchdown in
one drop or one seven targets.I don't think the Kansas City Chiefs are
good enough to overcome that. Andthat's saying something because Andy Reid and Patrick
Mahomes are pretty damn good. Ijust think the league is They're not winning
(01:31:40):
a super Bowl with three catches andtwenty five yards from Kelsey. But it
is not just a couple of weeksago he had seven receptions for forty four
yards and then early in November threereceptions fourteen yards. That is not who
they are. They can probably winwith the seven catches as long as those
forty four yards include a touchdown ortwo in the red zone. Wish that
you had one touchdown in that Philly, not not but not the three you
(01:32:05):
know, the three for fifteen orwhatever it is. That that is not
a Kansas city. You're gonna haveto get out. It have to be
a bad team you're playing because inthey have playoffs. Uh, the seventh
seedle Beach if Kelsey's catching three balls. So I think with all and we
looked at the AFC, and welooked at the NFC. The top two
teams, who do you think theyare? Eagles? And right now with
(01:32:27):
the way they're playing Eagles and Chiefs, you still think it's the Chiefs.
Yeah, But Baltimore can beat them. They're the AFC there, there's some
teams that can beat them. Now, Pittsburgh's not capable of beating them.
They don't score enough. Denver cangive them hell and they but but they're
not they're fighting for their playoffs.Jacksonville can hang in there. What do
you think about Miami? I thinkthey can. The problem is Miami is
(01:32:49):
a big twelve team. I don'tknow how their defense is going to get
enough stops on the other way.On the other end, now you tell
me Miami holds Kelsey to three catches, Miami wins that game. I think
Miami is a little Miami's finesse gameis gonna have to get more physical when
it gets to December and January.I assure you that's gonna have to happen.
And another big thing is two isgonna have to stay healthy. There's
(01:33:11):
no doubt and throw on time.Yeah, I think he's played pretty well.
Their team speed is it's rediculously.I think they may be the fastest
team at the league. It's sick. Yeah, it's crazy, but it's
a perfect way to describe it's thebig twelve. Yes, I mean,
just like air raid type offense. But yet not a lot of defense.
A team that plays down, he'llpunch you in the mouth. Like if
they had to play Philly in theSuper Bowl, you better get out in
front and do it. Because ifPhilly gets to stay in their game plan
(01:33:31):
physically upfront or wear your ass out, yeah, they sure are. Let's
get into the eight o'clock hour.Mike Elko hired as the next head coach

(01:35:47):
tip off, six point thirty launchpad right here on seven on your home
for Rockets basketball. Bears will bethe vikings In Money Night Football twelve to
ten. Let's talk college football.Mike Elko now the head coach of Texas
A and M. Some incentives forMike Elko. His base salary Shawn seven
(01:36:10):
mill. He's got some postseason incentives. If he makes the college football Playoff,
he'll make a mill. If headvances to the college football Playoff quarterfinals
and or win the SEC conference title, he wins one point five mill.
So you're saying in a twelve teamplayoff, he just needs to get into
that instead of a four team though. If he gets to the College Football
Playoff semifinals, he gets awarded twomill. If he advances to the championship
(01:36:34):
game, he gets two point five. If he wins the national title,
he gets three point five. Soif he gets to the gets in it's
a mill yep. And then hewins that round and moves on to the
quarterfinals. To the quarterfinals, it'sanother one point five correct gets to the
semis. How much gets to theSemis two, So that's one, that's
two point five, that's four pointfive. And then he wins a national
(01:36:54):
title. If he gets to thechampionship game, he wins two point five,
and then if he wins it wouldbe that's seven million. And then
if he wins the national title,he gets three point five. So if
they were to win a national title, he gets ten and a half million
dollars bonuses from the start of theplayoffs to the end. Yeah, over
and above his salary. Yeah, some good incentive, man. There's a
(01:37:16):
lot of reason to want to getto the playoffs if you're just looking for
the financial part of it. Otherincentive compensation hundred grand if he appears in
an SEC championship game. If hegets Coach of the Year for the SEC,
he gets fifty Large National Coach ofthe Year he gets a hundred.
Multi year APR of nine to sixtyor above, he gets fifty. He's
(01:37:39):
got a salary pool for his assistantcoaches, analyst, operations, recruiting,
and strength conditioning of eleven million dollars. They handed these key contract terms out
at the press Conferenceation nice got alot to work with. And just think
fifteen years ago, college football coachingsalaries are less less than fifteen years ago,
(01:38:00):
guys were leaving college football to goto the NFL because the salaries were
bigger for head coaches. No longer, I mean seven million bucks for a
college coach. Why would you leaveand go to the NFL? Is is
this standard to where they hand outthese key contract terms or is this kind
of something Oh I don't I rarelyhear somebody talk about that. Maybe it's
(01:38:23):
a next level of transparency to showthem here's what we have. And what
you're actually doing too is putting thecoach on call. You are putting him
on watch, saying we gave youeleven million bucks for assistance distributed, how
you see fit, get the bestpeople in here, and let's go.
That's one. But also when theyknow that now the pressure even falls in
right now, if you're the coach, you'd probably not want people to know
(01:38:44):
that they know you're set right becauseit's a public university they're going to be
able to find out anyway, youcan find out his salary. But when
it goes through, how he's goingto distribute it all. I don't know
if that's normal. It's a sixyears at least people you don't have to
ask the question. Got it ona one sheet and you're good to go.
You know what, they know whatthey're working with. So and Mike
Elco did a really good job atDuke. He's got great reputation in college
(01:39:06):
football, and he he has themoney to go get some people. And
we, like we always said,Texas A and m has the money to
pay it and pressure on you saidsix or seven year deal, six year
deal, six for six for seventyyears. So it's like forty plus million
plus bonuses. Yep, that's agood that's a nice upgrade for Mike and
impacted Duke the right way. Now, Duke's got to go find their guy,
(01:39:29):
and Texas A and M has theirs. Now it'll be interesting to see
what kind of staff he puts together. Yeah, the the yell leaders were
pretty jacked up over this high andyou want to hear from him, sure,
but yeah, this is what theyell leaders had to say that midnight
yell outside of Texas A and Myep is not the most popular thing.
So regarding so regarding some of thoseearlier midnight yells in the year, Yeah,
(01:39:53):
I'd like to take this time toapologize to absolutely nobody. Damn.
If you don't like Texas A andM's traditions, I got news for you.
Highway six runs both ways, andI heard that TU is gladly accepting
(01:40:14):
to you Tulsa Tulsa University, bythe way, isn't it U? T
It is UT? Do you thinkhe did that on purpose or do you
think he said to you on purposeor he thinks it's to you? Do
you think he knows it's UT andhe just said that to yes, right,
yeah, yeah, but TU actuallystands for Tulsa. So well,
let me go this. Let mego to this Highway six. It runs
both ways, runs both ways,it does Thanks, Thanks, he really
(01:40:41):
is it? I'm gonna tell youthe toughness of that. They don't care.
Yeah, if you don't like theirtraditions, that's just you know what
that is. That's a table setter, you know. I suggest that's the
standard you go by. The standardbearer Texas A and M makes everything about
the University of Texas. They shouldprobably stopped doing that and win some damn
football games. Well that doesn't Texasdo the same thing. No, they
(01:41:03):
just keep winning. Yes they do. Over at the what do they call
it, the forty Acres. Yes, yes they do. I think Texas
makes it about No, Texas makesit the same way. Do they know?
I don't know, Just like USCand UCLA make it about each other,
just like Auburn and Alabama. That'spart of tradition, rich history that
we lost when it came to rivalry. Oh, by the way, get
(01:41:24):
back, Yeah, November thirtieth thenext year. Get all the trash talking
you absolutely want in. That's awesome. It's about time. So, while
he's exactly right, most people outsideTexas A and M's program are are a
bit critical of some of the someof the Friday night yells and the way
they go about not getting people togetherfor for for the yell, midnight yell.
(01:41:48):
It's just maybe the verbiage that it'sthe way that those guys go about
it. Yeah, the tradition isnot the problem, that's how it's presented,
which bothers people. But I don'thave a problem with them getting after
UT because they do and UT getafter them. And it's going to heighten
and it should next year. Novemberthirtieth is when they are scheduled to play
(01:42:09):
University of Texas and Texas A andM. It's not on Thanksgiving, and
it's not on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It's it's on a Saturday, and
I can't. It's good. Atleast we get it and it'll be one
of those where everybody's watching and MikeElico is going to get a nice introduction
to what it's like. And SteveSarkesian's never got that. He's had h
Washington, Washington State when he wasa coach of Washington. He's had the
(01:42:29):
USC, UCLA USC Notre Dame whenhe was a coach at Southern Cal.
He's going to love that one.And it's going to be a long time
coming. I can't. I'm excitedfor it. And you got to love
that, man. I know I'mtalking for it. Yeah, I'm excited
for Let's talk to an Aggie alumni. Let's go out to Doug. Doug,
what's up, boys, how arewe all, good man? What's
on your mind? Hey? Ilove the hire. I think that we
(01:42:53):
talked about it when Jimbo got firedthat I was thinking either Trailer or Elko,
But I just I honestly, I'mjust still confused about the whole Mark
Stoope situation and how that came about, and why we pivoted so quickly,
and how Elco was still available andinterested because I'm sure he saw all the
(01:43:14):
same stuff that Mark Stoops was beinghired, So all of a sudden there
was some sort of swell. Imean, I was asleep because I drank
too much watching the Aggies that day, but evidently around midnight that's when all
the stuff started to happen. Didy'all hear the same stuff? Yeah,
Doug appreciate the call man. Basically, what we heard is that they were
(01:43:35):
set to hire Mark Stoops and thefan base was not happy with that hire,
and it got back to some highranking folks at Texas A and M
and they pulled the offer. Andthen just a little bit after that,
Mark Stoops came out and put upa tweet that said that he was going
to be staying at Duke So I'msorry at Kentucky. So just just the
(01:43:57):
craziness I'm going to tell you thisfinancial financially for for Mike Elco since it
happened so quickly on the changeover thatyou had stoops and then it fell apart,
and then you had to go toyour number. And the reason why
Elcho jumped on it, there's aboutforty plus million reasons why. And it's
Texas A and M. Even thoughyou may have finished second. Saulsbury,
(01:44:27):
old Burg, Salisbury, Houston.Okay, let's do this, Shawn Salisbury.
Wait, they reported that Shawn Southberry, long time friend shown Salisbury,
Ryan La Lima, go Lobo tothe shame tag chop, Come time away

(01:45:15):
Texas A and M. Some incentivesfor Mike Elko. His base salary shawn
seven mill. He's got some postseasonincentives. If he makes the college football
Playoff, he'll make a mill.If he advances to the College Football Playoff
quarterfinals and or win the SEC conferencetitle, he wins one point five mill.
(01:45:36):
So you're saying in a twelve teamplayoff, he just needs to get
into that set of a four team. Now, if he gets to the
College Football Playoff semifinals, he getsaward a two mill. If he advances
the championship game, he gets twopoint five. If he wins the national
title, he gets three point five. So if he gets to the gets
in, it's a mill, yep, and then he wins that round and
(01:45:57):
moves on to the quarterfinals, tothe quarterfinals, another one point five.
Correct gets to the semis, howmuch gets the semis two, So that's
one, that's two point five, that's four point five. And then he
wins a national title. If hegets to the championship game, he wins
two point five, and then ifhe wins it that that would be five.
That's seven million. And then ifhe wins the national title, he
gets three point five. So ifthey were to win a national title,
(01:46:21):
he gets ten and a half milliondollars bonuses from the start of the playoffs
to the end. Yeah, overand above his salary. Yeah, some
good incentive. Man. There's alot of reason to want to get to
the playoffs if you're just looking forthe financial part of it. Other incentive
compensation hundred grand if he appears inan SEC championship game, if he gets
Coach of the Year for the SEC, gets fifty large National Coach of the
(01:46:45):
Year, he gets a hundred multiyear APR of nine to sixty or above,
he gets fifty. He's got asalary pool for his assistant coaches,
analyst, operations, recruiting, andstrength conditioning of eleven million dollars. They
handed these key contract terms out atthe press conferenceation nice got a lot to
(01:47:06):
work with. And just think fifteenyears ago, college football coaching salaries are
less less than fifteen years ago.Guys were leaving college football to go to
the NFL because the salaries were biggerfor head coaches. No longer, I
mean seven million bucks for a collegecoach. Why would you leave and go
to the NFL? Is this standardto where they hand out these key contract
(01:47:30):
terms or is this kind of somethingOh, I don't. I rarely hear
somebody talk about that. Maybe it'sa next level of transparency to show them
here's what we have. And whatyou're actually doing too is putting the coach
on call. You are putting himon watch saying we gave you eleven million
bucks for assistance, distributed how yousee fit, get the best people in
here and let's go. That's one. But also when they know that now
(01:47:54):
the pressure even falls in right now, if you're the coach, you'd probably
not want people to know that. They know you're set right because it's a
public university, they're going to beable to find out anyway. Right,
you can find out his salary, but when it goes through how he's going
to distribute it all, I don'tknow if that's normal. It's a six
year at least people you don't haveto ask the question. You got it
on a one sheet and you're goodto go. You know what, they
(01:48:15):
know what they're working with. Soand Mike Elko did a really good job
at Duke. He's got great reputationin college football, and he he has
the money to go get some people. And we, like we always said
Texas A and m has the moneyto pay it and pressure all you said,
six or seven year deal, sixyear deal, six for six for
seventy years. So it's like fortyplus million plus bonuses. Yep, that's
a good that's a nice upgrade forMike and impacted Duke the right way.
(01:48:41):
Now, Duke's got to go findtheir guy, and Texas A and M
has theirs. Now it'll be interestingto see what kind of staff he puts
together. Yeah, the the yellleaders were pretty jacked up over this higher
and you want to hear from him, sure, but yeah, this is
what the yell leaders had to say. That midnight yell outside of Texas A
and MP is not the most popularthing. So regarding so regarding some of
(01:49:03):
those earlier midnight yells in the year, I'd like to take this time to
apologize absolutely nobody, damn if youdon't like Texas A and M's traditions.
I got news for you. Highwaysix runs both ways, and I heard
(01:49:24):
that TU is gladly accepting to youTulsa Tulsa University. By the way,
isn't it u t it ut?Do you think he did that on purpose
or do you do you think hesaid to you on purpose or he thinks
it's to you. Do you thinkhe knows it's ut and he just said
that to yes, right, yeah, yeah, but TU actually stands for
Tulsa. So well, let mego this, Let me go to this
(01:49:46):
highway six. It runs both ways, runs both ways, it does.
Thanks? Thanks? He really isit? I'm gonna tell you the toughness
of that. They don't care.Yeah, if you don't like their traditions,
that's you know what that is.That's a table setter, you know.
I suggest that's the standard you goby, the standard bearer. Texas,
(01:50:10):
A and M makes everything about theUniversity of Texas. They should probably
stop doing that and win some damnfootball games. Well doesn't Texas do the
same thing. No, they justkeep winning. Yes they do. Over
at the what do they call itthe forty Acres? Yes, yes they
do. I think Texas makes itabout No, Texas makes it the same
way. Do they know? Idon't know, Just like USC and UCLA
make it about each other, justlike Auburn and Alabama. That's part of
(01:50:31):
tradition, rich history that we lostwhen it came to rivalry. Oh,
by the way, get back.Yeah. November thirtieth the next year,
get all the trash talking you absolutelywant in. That's awesome. It's about
time. So while he's exactly right, most people outside Texas A and m's
program are are a bit critical ofsome of the some of the Friday night
(01:50:56):
yells and the way they go aboutnot getting people together for a for for
the yell midnight yell. It's justmaybe the verbiage that it's the way that
those guys go about it. Yeah, the tradition is not the problem.
That's how it's presented, which botherspeople. But I don't have a problem
with them getting after UT because theydo, and UT get after them.
(01:51:16):
And it's going to heighten and itshould next year. November thirtieth is when
they are scheduled to play University ofTexas and Texas A and M. It's
not on Thanksgiving, and it's noton the Friday after Thanksgiving. It's on
a Saturday, and I can't.It's good. At least we get it
and it'll be one of those whereeverybody's watching and Mike Kelko is going to
get a nice introduction to what it'slike. And Steve Sarkesian's never got that
(01:51:38):
he's had, Yeah, Washington,Washington State when he was a coach of
Washington. He's a dad the USC, UCLA, U s C. Notre
Dame when he was a coach atSouthern Cal. He's going to love that
one, and it's going to bea long time coming. I can't.
I'm excited for it. And yougot to love that, man, I'm
talking for it. Yeah, I'mexcited for Let's talk to an Aggie alumni.
It's go out the Doug. Doug, what's up? Howdy boys?
(01:52:00):
How are y'all? Good man? What's on your mind? Hey? I
love the hire. I think thatwe talked about it when Jimbo got fired
that I was thinking either Trailer orElko. But I just I honestly,
I'm just still confused about the wholeMark Stoop situation and how that came about,
and and why we pivoted so quickly, and how Elko was still available
(01:52:25):
and interested because I'm sure he sawall the same stuff that that Mark Stoops
was being hired. So all ofa sudden there was some sort of swell.
I mean, I was asleep becauseI drank too much watching the Aggies
that day, but evidently around midnight. That's when all the stuff started to
happen. Did y'all hear the samestuff? Yeah, Doug appreciate the call
man. Basically, what we heardis that they were set to hire Mark
(01:52:50):
Stoops and the fan base was nothappy with that hire, and it got
back to some high ranking folks. It's Texas A and M, and they
pulled the offer. And then justa little bit after that, Mark Stoops
came out and put up a tweetthat said that he was going to be
staying at Duke So I'm sorry atKentucky. So just just the craziness.
(01:53:11):
I'm going to tell you this financialfinancially for for Mike Elco, since it
happened so quickly on the changeover thatyou had Stoops and then it fell apart
and then you had to go toyour number. And the reason why Elcho
jumped on it, there's about fortyplus million reasons why. And it's Texas
A and M. Even though youmay have finished second, it's okay,
(01:53:36):
sometimes you finished second and well CJ. Stroud finished second. Who would
you rather have right now? You'lltake you, you'll take too, right.
Yeah, So maybe this ends upbeing a great blessing for them,
But you know what happened. Listen, if you're a team that you have
possible egg on your face. Theuniversity did it fell through because a fan
base you offered him this, theydon't want him. It started to go
(01:53:57):
haywire and you couldn't have that happenand post Jimbo Fisher in the situation they
are in right now. So Iwould imagine when you picked up that phone
and decided to pivot to Mike Elkothat the negotiations happened fast obviously and we're
pretty easy. And if you're MikeElkole, you're like that probably just went
up a million bucks. Why becausethey're desperate, not desperate because they hired
(01:54:20):
Mike Elko, desperate for the timingof when the media starts to talk.
If they'd have waited another three days, it'd be like, what are you
guys doing? What are you guysdoing now? You can't give the job
boy? It's a and m Youshould be able to give the job boy,
And Mike Elko saw on. Thenegotiation probably went pretty swift considering how
quickly the turnover was from Stoops toElco. And those are some pretty great
(01:54:43):
incentives, but seven million reasons ayear, why you'll you'll be the fifth
guy and take that gig, especiallysince he and he's been at A and
M before as an assistant, he'snever been outside of Duke. When I'm
talking about a powerful I'm talking abouta national championship type atmosphere. While Duke
say program, and he's helped, you know, he coached them. Well,
(01:55:03):
he now goes to A and M, which is all football. I
mean, while A and m's basketballand baseball. It's a good sports program.
We know why he's here, right, and it's an opportunity to go
from Duke, DA and M.You it'd be like going now, flip
it. You're the head coach atTexas A and M no disrespect in basketball,
and Duke offers you the job. What are you doing? You're going
(01:55:24):
to go to Duke? Sure question, Sure you are. Why would you
just say that's exactly so? Flippit? Now you got A and M
football and all that, and he'sleaving Duke as a football coach. Yeah.
Yeah, even if you finish fourthin line, if that job gets
to you, your take, you'restill going. Of course you are right,
of course you are right It's likewhat we talked about when it comes
to UH managers in Major League Baseball. I don't give a damn if the
(01:55:44):
Oakland A's are going to offer youthe manager spot. If you have never
been a manager before, you're probablygoing to jump on that. Yeah,
it's not a probably, it's aguarantee, right because those three other offers,
right, because those jobs don't comeoften, don't come open very often.
Let's keep talking college foot ball. The new college football playoff rankings are
going to come out today. Howdo you rank the one loss teams in
(01:56:06):
America? Today? We'll discuss anNext on Sports Stock seven ninety, The
Shawn Salisbury Show continued. Rockets MavericksTonight seven tip off the launch battle start
(01:56:36):
at six thirty. That's right hereon seven on your home for Rockets Basketball.
Sean Brian and Triple Year with you. Talking college football, Mike Elco
introduced as a new head coach forthe Texas a and m Aggie's. You
have aged still looking for their headcoach name to watch for that. This
is coming from Randy McVoy of KPRCtwo Sports said he heard from multiple sources
(01:57:01):
that former TCU head coach Gary Pattersonis a name to watch. Gary Patterson
saying he's recharged and ready to getback into coaching. So I have to
see what Chris Peesman and the Cougarsdo with their head coaching search. So
with the college football playoff rankings gonnabe coming out today, you got some
(01:57:26):
one loss teams. Gary Patterson cancoach. By the way, former tc
you could do a lot worse thanhim, former TCU coach. Yes,
very good. Well let's see asit stands right now in college football you
have well come on, man,my goodness, love when you're preps sheeting,
(01:57:51):
think there we go Georgia, Michigan, Washington, Florida State of the
AP top twenty five. Then hegot Oregon, Ohio State, Texas,
Alabama. Those are the one lostteams. So college football playoffs dropped Florida
State out right, Yeah, yeah, they were out before last week.
(01:58:17):
They weren't in the final. Theyweren't in They were in number five last
week, I think correct. Soas with the AP, they with Ohio
State losing, they dropped Ohio Statefour spots down to number six, and
they bumped Florida State back up tonumber four. So do you think with
the college football playoff rings. Youthink they'll put them back up at number
(01:58:39):
four Oregon. They may in anticipationof this week, but a for Oregon
beats Washington, they're jumping Florida State. Even if Florida State's beats in Florida
State beats Louisville, well, theones got one lot. I believe the
(01:59:00):
MIDI will have Oregon in the four. I do if Washington wins, it's
a no brainer. Ye, Washington'ssitting where right now? Washington is currently
number three AP and Michigan's two inGeorgia one correct. I was asked yesterday
on a show as in the doon mondays, who I think right now
(01:59:23):
the four best teams in the countryare you know? You know, let
me back back up just one second. What bothers me is when people don't
lend credence to early season wins, don't we count them all? So why
does a win in against like Alabama? Why does a win I understand that,
(01:59:44):
Well, you want to catch Alabamaearly, just like you want to
catch Philadelphia the first game of theyear or something. And in the NFL,
I get it or Mahomes before theyget their rhythm and all that or
before Milroe becomes settled in. Butwhy in the world are we discounting Why
do we shrink September one or weraise that the September loss. Uh,
well, it's not as important asSeptember as it is. Why I've never
(02:00:09):
understood we play twelve of them andif you're fortunate enough to go play more,
Why in the world am I Whyam I shrinking Texas if I'm the
Committee or anybody else for beating Alabamathen and not now. Well, because
they played them, then wouldn't theybe given credit to Alabama if they'd have
beat Texas And they say, hey, Alabama's undefeated their schedule. They took
(02:00:30):
care of Texas early in the September. So I don't understand why we shrink
the Longhorns. I mean, it'slike, and I think people respect Texas,
But why in the world we're evenhaving this conversation that a win by
Texas in September doesn't hold as muchwater with the Committee as it, you
know, as it would in November. Well, I've said that that's the
(02:00:51):
case, and I do. Butand it is a fact, we've seen
it. But why why why isit? I'm not marking them down.
Now, do I think Alabama wouldget beat by two touchdowns by Texas today
in Tuscaloosa? That answers absolutely not. Do I think Texas could beat Alabama
in tescal Tuescaloosa, I absolutely do. Maybe a different score, but I
(02:01:14):
do think they can. To me, the teams playing the best right now
Georgia, Michigan, Texas, andthe conversation comes down to Alabama or Oregon
for the I'm talking about playing thebest. I'm not talking about the overall
body work playing the best the lastsix weeks. But it's a full season
(02:01:36):
we got to take into account.Now. I know that Florida State probably
thinks they're getting discounted, but Idon't think a lot of people hold the
ACC in the highest regard this year. And I don't think because Clemson's been
down North Carolina. You know there'sgood teams, but I don't think in
miami's not the exact same as they'vebeen, right, I'm just going through
(02:01:57):
the thought process. Yet, weknow that Louisville's good and they're gonna go
undefeated, and there's still a chancethey're not gonna make it. I do
believe a one loss Georgia Town.I think Georgia, unless they get boat
race this weekend, I don't thinkthe committee is going to take them out
of it. But playing the bestright now, Texas has got to be
in the category. I guess close. You can argue Texas, Alabama,
(02:02:20):
Oregon, Washington. Oregon's playing betterfootball right now than Washington is, but
Washington should be ranked higher because whythey got the undefeated record. So I
think that it's obviously unless Michigan getspet by AOWA. That can't happen.
I guess it can. I thinkthat the winner of the SEC title games
(02:02:42):
in. If it's Alabama, it'sstill a no brainer. And I don't
think that. I believe the onlynon conference, the non winning conference team
that has a chance. If Washingtonloses to Oregon by a point, they're
out. If Georgia loses by apoint and they have one loss in there,
not the conference champion, I thinkthey're in because I believe they'd be
(02:03:04):
favored over every team on the scheduleeven with the loss. Does that make
sense. I'm just looking at itfrom a committee standpoint. I said yesterday,
the teams that I feel are playingthe best right now, that if
it ended today. The four bestteams to me are Texas, Oregon,
Michigan, and Georgia. But manalive is Alabama have been kicking ass.
(02:03:26):
We know how good Washington can be, and Florida State probably deserves more respect
than we give them on the nationalfront. But I just can't put them
ahead of those teams because I thinkOhio State beats Florida State right now.
I agree, So I think FloridaState's gonna get left out even if they
go undefeated. I do. Ijust don't see how you can leave Georgia
(02:03:47):
out if they lose Alabama. Idon't think you're going to. I just
don't hear twenty one seventeen twenty fourto twenty three thirty one thirty type game
and they get beat. I thinkthat Georgia has a pretty and they'll make
their case for we're still the bestteam in America. They will make that
case. I think Georgia in aclose I don't think Georgia getting left out
(02:04:11):
and the winner if it's Alabama,Alabama's going. The champion from the SEC
is going for the teams that areon the periphery, like Florida State,
like Texas, possibly Oregon. LikeI said yesterday, you are begging,
begging for Georgia to beat Alabama, the two things you want, and then
the rest will take care of itself. You need Georgia to beat Alabama and
you want Louisville to beat Florida Statebecause those two then will be eliminated.
(02:04:35):
And if that happens, Michigan willslide into the one hole. Yep,
Texas will. It'll end up Michigan, Texas the winner of the PAC twelve,
and Georgia. Well, if Georgiawins, I Georgia stand in the
one hole, Michigan will be two, and then you'll battle between It'll be
(02:04:58):
Texas and Oregon or Texas and Washington. Washington. Right. If the for
for Texas and or for Texas andthe PAC twelve to be secure, Michigan
take care isle. Georgia beat Alabamaand Florida State lose to Louisville. And
those are very real possibility because bothof those teams are going to be favored.
I don't I don't even know whatthe Florida State So for me,
(02:05:19):
that point spread Florida State and Louisville, Florida State's probably still going to be
favored, even without their quarterback,it'll be close. But you're Texas,
your Oregon, You're Washington. You'rebegging, begging for a Georgia and Louisville
win this weekend. Florida State twoand a half point favorite. There you
go. You're if you're begging fora Louisville and Georgia win this weekend,
(02:05:39):
because that eliminates Florida State and Alabamacompletely. The wild card is if Alabama
wins and Florida State wins. Nowyou're now you're splitting hairs and the sixth
team is going to be awfully pissed. Yeah, the sixth team is going
to be pissed, let alone thefifth. So with these college Footall players
(02:06:00):
rankings coming out today, do wesee any shift outside of the top four.
Let's look at Alabama, Texas,Oregon, Ohio State. That's next.

you no no, stay at scrubJays with it's so oppressed, still playing
MoU which show is like the policeasking us questions. Will know shit bless.
I'm Joe flexed. Never love us, let me stress talking college football
(02:07:58):
here on the Sean Salisbury Show.I'm glad that it shows us. Sean,
Brian and Tripley right here on SportsTalk seven and you can also listen
to us on the Free iHeartRadio ApplesScots on line seven one three, two
point two, five seven nine ofLet's go to Biscuit Biscuit. Good morning,
Hey, top of the morning,My brothers. Hey, Sean Lolima
Uh, I think this college footballthing could be get very intriguing. And
(02:08:24):
Sean, I think you you didpick the game that has the most ramifications
on what's gonna happen, and that'sthe Alabama Georgia game. But Sean,
I differ from you and who benefitsfrom who win and who doesn't win.
Here's my here's my take on theSean. The committee always talks about they
love conference champions, but they alsotalk about the eye test and you know
(02:08:50):
who who look like they playing thebest ball. So here's my take,
Sean. If Alabama wins, youteam benefits because out of Alabama wins looks
even better. You see what I'msaying. So they cannot put Alabama in
and not put you team. Yeah, but here's the deal. Well you
can, But here's the deal withthat biscuit. I'm Gary, You're Almo,
(02:09:13):
you beat take care of Oklahoma State, and Georgia wins. You see,
we're the difference where we're different onthis is I don't think they respect
the committee respects the early season winenough because I think they're gonna say Alabama
playing better now than they did then, so they're going to try to discount
that a little in that room.I think the Georgia win although although those
(02:09:35):
signs what you're saying, and I'vethought about this at nauseum that if Alabama
wins, that bodes well because Texasbeat them, if they'd have beat them
six weeks into the season, yourpoint is one hundred percent correct. But
because they beat them in week twoearly in the season and went there and
they were struggling with their quarterack, they're gonna read into all that to me,
what happens Georgia wins. I don'tthink they want any part of Florida
(02:09:58):
State in the final. I don'tcare what Florida, but they're gonna get.
It's gonna guarantee Texas is in.If they win and Georgia wins,
Texas is not gonna be left out. They'll still take into account the Alabama
win, No doubt they'll take itinto account. But I think a Georgia
(02:10:18):
win affects Texas's chances better for themthan an Alabama win because they were so
far apart. Georgia wins and Texastakes care of their business. You can't
put Oregon in ahead of Texas. You can't put Florida State even as an
undefeated team. Texas is playing betterfootball. I test everything involved and beating
Alabama. I'll take the Georgia winfor Texas more than I will the Alabama
(02:10:39):
win since they happened so far apart. I don't know, Sean, I
disagree with you, but let's goeven Florida State should be going in ahead
of Texas. Well, That's whatI'm saying. That's the point I'm getting
to. Let's go step further.Okay, if if Georgia blows out Alabama,
they just say that happens. Georgiabeast and Alabama by to seventeen points
(02:11:01):
and Florida State goes up and rollsup Louisville. You got an undefeated Florida
State team against the one lost UTteam and they both conference champions. I
don't know, man, I don'tknow about that sh And then on the
other side of it, Oregon tome, Oregon needs Georgia to win because
if Oregon beats Washington and Georgia beatsAlabama, then I think they would take
(02:11:28):
Oregon over Florida State and UT becausethey gonna have more top ten wins.
Yeah, I said Oregon. Oregonbenefits from Jorge. That's why I said
the playoff for teams that are onthe fringe. And I believe Texas is
still the same. I believe Georgia. I believe that Oregon wanted is begging
(02:11:48):
for Georgia to win as well, and the Texas I understand your pointer when
it has with the committee. I'mjust going by committee now were you and
I think the committee because I thinkthe committee probably expects Georgia to win bye
a touchdown in a field goal.So I don't think going in they're gonna
punish UT because of the distance, just like I don't think they're gonna hold
(02:12:09):
it in the highest regard either waythey should because of September wind matters.
I think either way they're gonna say, well, it matters, let's look
at it, but that wasn't theAlabama team, And then they're gonna look
at it, well, but Alabamaplayed Georgia. George is just that much
better than everybody else. That's whyI don't think George is gonna miss out
whether they win or lose. Ithink Texas and we can both benefit from
(02:12:31):
it. Yeah, but what I'msaying to you know, Sean is right
now and Lolima you can correct me. Right now, Florida State is ahead
of UT. So how does UTthem Florida State at Florida State doesn't lose.
To me, the only way hecan do it is if for Alabama
to win. But that Alabama nothing. The committee last week had who ahead
(02:12:52):
of who? You have Florida Statewas ahead of Praxis. But the point
is they had that committee right afterthe quarterback was hurt. They dropped Florida
State after the quarterback hurt. Theydropped out of the top four. The
committee. We're not talking about thePower Rank Committee, talking about the committee
that meets today. If I'm notmistakes is today, Yes, tonight on
the show. So I get whatyou're saying. I don't think the committee
(02:13:13):
eye test is going to give FloridaState the credit they probably deserve. I
just don't. I don't. Idon't think ut gets left out if Georgia
wins. I don't now. Ipersonally think Florida State is going to struggle
against Louisville anyway. They would haverather had Louisville win last week than lose.
I think I think Louisville is goingto be ready to play. It's
going to make for an argument. And there's a lot of people that don't
(02:13:35):
think it's the Alabama thing affects theTexas, you know what they think.
There are people I've talked to thatthink it's Oregon and Texas that we're going
to be comparing. If Oregon winsand Texas wins, that Texas should be
hank ranked ahead of Oregon. Butthe PAC twelve winners going because it's either
(02:13:56):
going to be an undefeated I think, depending on more than likely the Pac
twelve winner is going, and ifWashington wins, it's a no brainer.
They're they're undefeated. But I don'tthink they're going to give Florida State the
same undefeated credit that they'd give Washington. I'm just going from committee in the
past. They do. We wesay they cherished conference championships, and an
(02:14:16):
undefeated conference champion should, by byright, should they get to go.
Yeah, probably an ACC conference champion. But who you taking Let's say it
gets down to Georgia losing a gamein Florida State. Let's just say it
came down to that. Do youthink the committee's taken a one loss Georgia
team or an undefeated Florida State team? But John, did this not happen
(02:14:37):
last year? Did they just seeyou over over? Who? Didn't they
just pick CCU over a one lossteam last year because PCU was undefeated.
Yeah, but you remember, though, you're you're, you're you're not.
You've got to take into the count. Wasn't Dougan still playing? Weren't they
one of the highest scoring offenses inthe country. Wasn't the Optics And didn't
the whole country jump on their theirtheir nizz uts and ride tease. What
(02:15:01):
a story? How many times haveyou heard that with Florida State this year?
The narrative, what a story? Not very often. You may heard
it on college game Day. They'rethe team of all hell. Ohio State's
getting more love than an undefeated FloridaState team is right now. And you
know damn well that if the firsteight teams, Florida State would be the
dog against seven of them, andyou and I know that. I'm not
disc I'm looking from the committee.I see. That's why this committee's gonna
(02:15:24):
sit in there. There are gonnabe two people who are talking like you
and I. You think Alabama winbenefits them more. I think a Georgia
win because of the distance between thetwo. I'm not saying it's right.
I think the distance between the twomakes the Big Twelve champion feel more meaning
Texas if they win, because ifOklahoma State wins, Oklahoma State's not going
if Texas wins there, I don'tknow. Had I have to watch College
(02:15:48):
game Day in herbsheet. It's almostan afterthought that Texas is going to be
in judging from them, But it'sthe committee, and I'm not sure what
they're gonna do. Florida State willhave a gripe if they beat lou a
big one. I just don't knowif the eye test without their quarterback tells
you that you can put them ineven if it's a one lost Georgia team.
But that Oregon, Texas Florida Statething, the winner of the SEC
(02:16:11):
is going. And if the runnerups Georgia, I think you're gonna have
a hard time leaving them out.And we know Michigan's gonna you know,
maybe an ugly game, but they'regonna beat Iowa because Iowa can't score.
Appreciate a biscuit. Great, hemakes a great point. So what do
you what you tell me real quick? Does the I'm talking about from a
committee stamp and not how you andme and Biscuit feel because I'm on biscuit
same page with this about conference championand about the initial thought for me is
(02:16:35):
you beat Alabama in week two?Alabama beats Georgia. But I'm telling you
right now, the committee looks atAlabama one thousand different than they did in
week two. Now they were rankedthird. I'm talking about coming out of
week two and the way they youknow what they thought, Oh, quarter
it will hit them that wasn't NickSaban's team. They got them at the
right time, and they're going tojustify in their mind that if they're playing
(02:16:56):
Alabama now in Texas may not beatthem. The Georgia went over Alabama.
I don't think is gonna hurt Texasbecause at the time people forget and it's
wrong. Like I said to startthe show, why do we forget nine
weeks ago, ten weeks ago.Yeah, so I think you're gonna look
at I think you're gonna have boththere. There's gonna be something that in
that meeting room they're gonna side withBiscuit and say Alabama one. That's a
(02:17:18):
favor for Texas. But all thematt I think Georgia winning is just gonna
validate that Texas has had a goodseason. The eye test tells me Texas
belongs. If they keep talking aboutthis eye test, which we've heard year
in and year out with the CollegeFootball Playoff Committee. If you're looking at
the eye test, Florida State,Florida State is not in right. It
doesn't matter if the Conference Championships interview, they don't have their quarterback and they're
not one of the best fourteen allsyou gotta do is what Mike Norvel's done
(02:17:39):
in Florida State's phenomenal. I'm justtalking about think about Texas Tech. I
mean Texas TCU's narrative last year andeverybody riding them senselessly, right, I'm
talking about how great they are,dug Ins, the Heisman candidate, they
lost their quarterback. Just the narrativeon both teams is different at this time
year TCU. Forts That's why Ican't judge a year year like well,
(02:18:00):
the last year they did it,I think they had a wild hair in
a good way for TCU, andeverybody thought they were going to get boat
raced in the title game. Idon't think that's same wild here for Florida
State. I almost feel like this, say, how is Florida State here?
Which they deserve more respect than that? And so I think it's interesting.
I think you're gonna get both.I think a Georgia win gives Texas
an advantage since it happened. Ifthat loss would have happened, if they'd
(02:18:24):
beat Tech Alabama October twenty eighth,we'd be having a different conversation. We'd
be saying at Texas at Alabama wins, that's great for Texas. I think
a Georgia win also is really goodfor Texas because I think that eliminates two
teams from the SEC going. Iknow it does if Georgia wins. Yeah,
let's look at some of these matchupsthis Saturday. It's a big win

So many different scenarios going on witha big upcoming weekend conference championships playoff il
vacations on the line. First oneFriday night, Oregon, Washington, seven
(02:21:24):
o'clock kick over in Las Vegas, and you want the real chaos? What?
What? What heng on? Holdon? What are you clapping for?
Yeah? Are you pump? Ithought maybe you got a couple of
beds Friday? Yeah, Friday todayin Vegas instead of when it used to
be in like, uh where theyused to have it in San Francisco area
at the Candlestick. Well it's notCandlestick at the playstaf What are they with
(02:21:46):
the name of that stadium? Theback Bell Park, No, that's a
baseball stadium. Oh okay, theone where the forty nine ers play so
far, No, that's in La. Keep it up, Levi Stadium,
Levi is it is it Levi?I believe that's the name. But it's
Friday night here. You want realchaos. Oregon beats Washington by an extra
point. Iowa beats Michigan thirteen toten. Alabama beats Georgia thirty three to
(02:22:13):
thirty. Texas loses to Oklahoma State, and Louisville beats Florida State. Okay,
that's just that's legit chaos. Whatwould happen? I have no idea
that's okay. So here's the deal. If that did happen, do you
realize that Alabama and Georgia both goright? Alabama beats Georgia acc out yep,
(02:22:45):
big twelve out Oregon in if theybeat Washington, Iowa wouldn't be in,
Oklahoma State wouldn't be in, sothen Louisville would be in, so
you'd jump back into You'd probably cankeep Michigan. Still. Can you imagine
losing to Iowa and still being inin Iowa not going Ohio State would have
(02:23:07):
to go in. Well, theycan't. They weren't even in the championship
game. You're not gonna jump IowaState over Ohio State over Michigan. Michigan
losing to Iowa, Michigan got toplay an extra game at Ohio State's not
going unless you take one of theBig Ten with you. If you lose
to Iowa, you do not deserveto be in the collegetball playoff. One
thing we know in that situation.Okay, it's not gonna happen, but
still of course it's not. Butif you're Texas and you lose to Oklahoma
(02:23:30):
State, you shouldn't be going tothe playoffs, right? I agree,
Yeah, they're out. So whatI'm saying is you'd take two SEC teams
then what then? What Washington Washingtonto both from the pack do you do?
So you do you really say, well, you know what, who
are we going to slide in?Then do you start to say, well,
Louisville won the conference champions, you'vegot to put them in and then
(02:23:50):
we'll take Oklahoma State. We'll justgo true conference champions. If they add
Georgia to it, could you imagine? No? No, But I don't
want to see it because I wantTexas in and I want the best four,
But wouldn't it. Can you imaginecompany to talk about that on Monday
saying you're not gonna believe it?Ye, I can't wait. Iowa,
Iowa. It was a field goalgame, Iowa one, nine to six,
and we're having that conversation. Thenyou Oklahoma State wins. It'll probably
(02:24:16):
be as chalk as it gets toGeorgia. I mean, it's gonna be.
It's gonna be pretty pretty difficult tobeat that team. Michigan's you know
all's Michigan has to do first. You get this fourteen in that game.
I don't see how Iowa was scoringpoints on Michigan, do you? Uh
No, I don't. I don'tsee how they gonna score. Was just
fun. Oregon's favored by nine anda half. Keep an eye on where
(02:24:41):
that line goes closer to the gametoo. We're already at Tuesday. That
game's Friday. I've told you rightnow the eye test right now with the
way they're playing Oregon. When theyasked me yesterday on that show, I
said, Oregon's playing a lot betterfootball than Washington is. Right now,
Washington they are. I just thinkthat's a lot of points nine and a
hal half. What do they know? A lot of points nine and a
half over under set at sixty sixand a half. Yeah, I like
(02:25:05):
the over right now today. Giveme Washington all day and twice on Sunday
with nine and a half points. What do they know? What does Vegas
know? That's what I'm not sureyou're gonna see a lot of money on
I would think that I wonder wherethe money's moving with the line little go
as it gets closer to the game, with the sharp sink. But I'm
if that line goes down, keepan eye on that and realize that that's
(02:25:26):
that. That seems like a lotof points for this it's already been beat
once by him, and it's ata neutral site. Big twelve Title game
Texas Oklahoma State, eleven am Saturdaymorning. Uh, Texas favored by fourteen
and a half. See this isweird, not this one, but the
fair George is favored by how much? Let's see, Georgia is favored right
(02:25:46):
now by six and Michigan favored bywhat? Let me find that Michigan favored
by twenty three? And so youthink about this, in just three of
those big time they're nine and ahalf is close to double digits, Texas
double digits, Michigan double digits,Georgia the best team in the country.
That also tells you what Vegas feelsabout Alabama. Right, So does the
(02:26:11):
committee feel say and think about this, Of all those they're telling you right
now, they think Alabama's I meanthat six points, Georgia would be favored
by all those teams by more thanI would think Florida State, Texas,
Oklahoma State, Washington, Oregon.I would think that you would get double
(02:26:31):
digits for Georgia in most of thosegames, or close to it, like
nine to nine and a half pointsin most If it's Florida State or something
like that, or Oklahoma State, they'd be four touchdown three touchdown favorites.
Then that go back to the Oregongame. Why is Oregon favored by nine
and a half. There's a reason. There is a reason. But we'll
see where it moves. I'm onthis game. I'm waiting if it starts
(02:26:52):
to go the other way. Imean, if it starts to keep,
if that point spread starts to getto ten, ten and a half,
eleven points, guess you should dorealize that's closer to the game that they
know something and this could be acurb stop or I don't know how,
but don't bet emotionally. Keep aneye on that line where that goes.
And then that seven pm game isthe ACC title game Florida State in Louisville
(02:27:13):
in Charlotte, North Carolina. FloridaState right now a two point favorite,
ye should be a close game.Man headed into the nine o'clock hour.

It's Doug Astros so obviously the offseasonJoe spot of the new manager well,
(02:29:37):
Jim Duquette, former Major League generalmanager for the Mets and Orioles.
He's also on MLB Network Radio doinga lot of different things throughout the league.
He was on MLB Network Radio yesterdayand talked about what he's heard about
the Astros trying to re sign AlexBregman next offseason. Is what Jim Doukeatt
(02:30:01):
had to say. I think thereis a chance that he may not even
be playing in Houston this year.Like you start to hear his name mentioned
in trade rumors and we haven't seenit much out there. I can say
this quietly. If I'm Dana Brown, I can't resign them. Okay,
(02:30:22):
he's a Scott Boris represented client. They're not gonna They're not gonna pay him.
There's no chance he's staying there,no chance. So if you're Dana
Brown, are going well, Ican't sign him. That was one of
the first things he was trying todo was to try to keep at Bregman
(02:30:43):
from ber Valdez, Kyle Tucker, all in the Astro's uniform. He has
signed none of them. He'd theonly guy he signed so far as Christian
how Heer. So one of thoseguys who's gonna be a free agent,
that's Bregman. I wouldn't be surprised. We just talked about third basement.
I'm not saying he would trade himto Seattle, but there are teams out
(02:31:03):
there that would definitely have interest ifthey were making them available, and you
kind of quietly hear his name. They're not shopping them, but they're I
think they're listening. So keep aneye on Alex Brigman. Hmmm. Interesting,
You disagree with it? No,I don't. I don't at all.
I think he's gone regardless, meaningeven next offseason. I don't think
(02:31:24):
they have a chance to sign him. That's just my opinion, I think
he's going to Boston. We've talkedabout a little bit before. But that's
where I think he's at it,or maybe out somewhere West. I don't
know. I don't think that hewill be an Astro after this season when
his contract is up, I don'tthink they will resign him. Okay,
so let's look at the overall pictureof the Astros. He's a productive player.
(02:31:48):
He's not an MVP guy anymore,at least hasn't been. Does that
make sense. Maybe he can be, but he hasn't been. Not saying
he can't be. We know whathe brings a third base, and how
they like him, and the besteye and baseball all those things. But
when it comes down to just literallypaying all the money it would take to
sign him, all who falls onthe bottom of the totem pole. You're
(02:32:09):
gonna make out touve Lifer. Yeah, I'm not. He not even in
this conversation. Yeah, I'm justthinking of him and him and Bregnant's contractor
up at the same time. Right, you're gonna sign He's going to get
the priority. Yeah, he'll be. He'll he'll be cheaper less expensive than
what Bregman's going to ask because ofage. But I believe that Altuve is
(02:32:31):
a no brainer here. Now thequestion is what's going to be tougher when
the time comes Kyle Tucker to signor Alex Bregman, if they were both
free agents at their certain time,Who's going to be tougher to keep Kyle
Tucker? Not just because I'm talkingabout overall tatility, Okay, productive you
(02:32:52):
think because there's going to be moredemand in the free agent market for Kyle
Tucker and he's going to command moremoney. If there's no doubt he's going
to command more money and more years, I would think there's no doubt.
My point is, if you're theif you can't sign them all. So
if it came down to one ofthose two, you're trying to sign Kyle
Tucker, but you're going to endup paying maybe what one hundred million dollars
(02:33:18):
more somewhere in that range probably,So does it eliminate Kyle Tucker more than
it does Alex Bregman? Or doyou say that left handed bat that this
team craves. Remember, even whenthey had a healthy jord On and Kyle
Tucker, they were still asking forcouldn't wait till Brandley comes back. We
need another left handed hitter. Somy question is, with all those guys
(02:33:39):
out there, can they afford tosign them all? Sure, oh they
can, but judging my point wasthe history of the Astros every year,
now you're losing one of those guys. In Duquet's defense, and what he's
saying is if you know you're notgoing to sign him or can't afford to
(02:34:00):
him, and Scott Bores is gonnamilk every single ounce of is going to
the turn up is going to beblood dry when it comes to getting paid.
It's who he is, and it'sokay he represents his clients. Well,
when all is said and done, what are you waiting on? If
you can't sign him, you canget some assets for him. Correct,
(02:34:20):
Yes, it's Alex Bregman I'm talkingabout. Yeah. So if that's the
case, why wouldn't you at leastlive not openly shopping, but shouldn't you
be taking calls or at least inquiring? I would assume that they are or
are you just gonna wait till nextyear and say, let's see what happens
at the end of this next year. I mean, if you were to
move him, what are you gonnaget? Would you get any major league
ready players? Because well, thenwho's gonna play third for the Astros.
(02:34:46):
There'll be somebody available out there,right. I don't even know who's a
free agent third basement available. We'dhave to look that up, right.
I don't know if that's gonna happenthis offseason. But he's not an n
season trade guy. Correct, Correct, Yeah, it's an off season,
so you're not gonna trade him tothe season if you're feeling good about your
team, correct, and you wantto you want to give Joe a spot.
Everything you want to arm in witheverything possible. Now, if you
(02:35:07):
went in and said, listen,we're just gonna let it rip, and
we believe we can sign from herand Altuve and Tucker and Bregman, we
have the money to do it.The question is where's the threshold for Jim
Crane, not for Dana Brown, for Jim Crane, and because Dana Waill
he'll make the decision. Jim Crane'sgonna have to prove, Hey, can
we afford to sign two hundred andseventy five to three hundred million Kyle Tucker?

it's Alex Bregman I'm talking about.Yeah. So if that's the case,
why wouldn't you at least live notopenly shopping, but shouldn't you be taking
calls or at least inquiring. Iwould assume that they are or are you
just gonna wait till next year andsay, let's see what happens at the
end of this next year. Imean, if you were to move him,
what are you going to get?Would you get any major league ready
players? Because well, then who'sgonna play third for the Astros? There'll
(02:41:58):
be somebody available out there, right. I don't even know who's a free
agent third basement available. We'd haveto look that up. I don't know
if that's going to happen this offseason. But he's not an in season trade
guy correct. Correct, Yeah,No, it's an off season, so
you're not going to trade him duringthe season. If you're feeling good about
your team, correct, and youwant to give Joe a spot everything you
want to arm him with everything possible. Now, if you went in and
(02:42:20):
said, listen, we're just gonnalet it rip, and we believe we
can sign Fromber and Altuve and Tuckerand Bregman. We have the money to
do it. The question is where'sthe threshold for Jim Crane, not for
Dana Brown, for Jim Crane andbecause Dana, while he'll make the decision,
Jim Crane's going to have to prove, Hey, can we afford to
(02:42:41):
sign two hundred and seventy five tothree hundred million Kyle Tucker? Can we
pay Alex Bregman? You know, between twenty five and thirty million? And
Fromber is a left handed pitcher, which is a premium. And then you
have Altuve, which is the noof all four or the guarantees Altove because
(02:43:01):
he seems to be a lifer. So who's who's the who's the odd man
out ones? Or are they allin? Well? I think can go
two ways here. I think youcould be all in, but notoriously we
have seen history says no. Correct. Okay, I wouldn't be surprised if
they moved on from Fromber. That'sme though, I get that it's a
(02:43:24):
premium who's easier to replace a lefthanded pitcher with cy young stuff or a
third baseman pushing thirty. Well,he's going to be thirty as the season
gets here, so yeah, it'dbe the third baseman. Who do you
think if you're Dana Brown and you'rethis front office, are you think,
even as a fan, are younot thinking Fromber's got Frommer's gonna find himself,
(02:43:46):
We're gonna go back to be wouldyou know what you're thinking? Yeah?
I would hope, Like I said, listen, if I had my
brothers, give me them all.I don't want a new third basement here
either. But if you're just lookingat it from that standpoint, he would
command interest. You may not getmajor league equivalent interest yet, but if
you're looking for assets to rebuild andget some good players, you probably can.
(02:44:11):
And you say Boston and people say, well, why Boston, Rafael
Devers plays there. They'll move Deversto first base now they got the big
left handed kid. There was arookie with yeah, and he had a
hell of a season. But there'sthe thing called the d H in baseball
as well, which Devers could probablydo well and hit three seventy five right
(02:44:31):
I mean, so you have thatlisten with good players. I'll find a
place for him. You don't haveto worry about that. I'll find you
a spot. They also, excuseme you're talking about it starts with an
m Masataka the first base from bigkid Tall who had a good year.
He's a good player now, sothey still got Verdugo. I can't forget
(02:44:54):
about it. He's going to beyour right shielder. Right. He's really
good too. I U. So, I don't know, but I don't
think Duquet's way off, do youknow? I don't think he's way off.
And if you're just looking at theAstros history from Springer to Korea to
Cole to whether it's free agency, those guys free agency are letting Verlander letting
them walk in free agency, notnot when I say letting them not paying
(02:45:18):
them. The odds of them payingall of those guys premium price are probably
not real good. So then yousay, okay, which one is going
to be the with and if theagent was different, but Boris is a
is a bulldog and the and thenobody's making more money as an agent in
baseball. I can tell you that. So he's probably the second most powerful
(02:45:39):
man in baseball not name the commissionerin truth. So I don't know how
you can pay them all, butif you can that I would love it.
Now if you're the if you're theRangers, you're paying them all and
you're keeping them all, let's go. I don't know if Jim Crane,
if that's going to be a style, but you're gonna have to make a
decision soon, and you got tosay, what can we get if we
do part with him? Where's showhey gonna go? I think it's gonna
(02:46:01):
end. He's gonna end up inSeattle, uh, with a with the
Dodgers, the Mets. I thinkthe Mets are gonna pay him, offer
him everything in the world. Iwould doubt if Philly jumps in, they
may, but I think there's achance he could go back to the Angels.
I do Angels, Dodgers on theWest Coast, possibly the Giants.
(02:46:22):
I think Seattle is a player, and I would imagine the Mets are involved
in this as well. They've gotto do something with the Mets together because
their decisions lately have not been goodand it's been a long time, but
they've got some players. Otani wouldwould shore a lot of that up.
But he's gonna make a half abillion dollars. There's no question. Apparently
(02:46:43):
he was seen out. I haven'teven heard what he says about interest in
San Francisco. Oh, there yougo. Yeah, he was out in
San Francisco. But then there's someother things that I read that he was
having meetings with teams, and theywere secret meetings, and if these teams
leaked that they were meeting, hewas gonna no more. I'm tired,
like I'm done, I'm not.I'm not coming to your team. Loose
(02:47:05):
slips sink ships. Keep your mouthclosed. If you want Otani and I
don't. I don't blame him sothat I can be loose slips sink ships
and it and a ship being theorganization, you got the best player on
the planet. If he says, don't say anything, I leak it,
you'd be wise to make sure thatthat doesn't get leaked. Yeah, if
your slips sink ships, sink ships. I'm gonna have to add that one
(02:47:30):
in the the old Little Black book. There you go. You know what
I mean, I know exactly whatyou mean. You got a little black
book. You know what I mean? All right, let's continue to roll
on here. Little no no,uh, absolutely absolutely not. Hey,
there's a candidate for the Carolina Panthersjob, former player. Does he have
any business going into the coaching world. Discussing next on Sports Talk seven ninety.
But first, it's time for theUniversity Houston Cougar Daily Update, presented
(02:47:54):
to you by dose Aki's. TheCougar's finishing their season only with two big
twelve wins. They fired Dana Holgerson, their head coach. They are on
the market for a new head coach. We'll have to stick by that every
single day to see if and whothey hire. Chris Pezman, the ad
gonna be looking out for their nexthead coach. Cougars. Once again,
(02:48:15):
they only have two big twelve winsto end the season, and there's still
plenty of college football to go.We got a big weekend this weekend for
conference championships. So when you're rootingon your favorite team or those kooks,
dose Ekis knows the game day isfilled with iconic traditions, so make sure
you're drinking a dose Eki's while you'rewatching college football. The fight songs of
rivalries, the iconic stadiums, whatever, your game day tradition is make sure
(02:48:37):
you're doing it with a real one, and that is drinking dose ekis raise
one with a real one. Enjoydo Ski's responsibly. Twenty twenty three dose
Seki's imported by Servaces, Mexicana's WhitePlains, New York. Get a dose.
There's a lot happening and he's gota lot to say about it.
Sean Salisbury continues on seven nineteen eight. Yeah I light up, bam up
(02:49:24):
right, Yeah, I light up. Welcome back to the Shawn Salisbury Show
here on Sports Talk seven ninety SeanBryn and Tripoli. Hey, uh,
some news from the Houston Astros iscoming from Chandler Roma. The Athletic Joe
Spotta has chosen his bench coach,Omar Lopez will transition from first base coach
(02:49:46):
to the bench coach. So goodfor Omar Lopez. He's been in the
Astros organization for twenty five years, including twelve as a minor league manager.
He's spent the last four seasons asthe team's first base coach. He'll be
a manager in waiting, there's noquestion. Good for him. It's awesome.
So Joe Spott has got his benchcoach. We'll see if they make
any off season moves. Another thingthat I read in one of the athletic
(02:50:11):
articles is that there could be anopportunity for the White Sox to trade Luis
Robert Junior to Houston. Remember wetalked about him quite a bit Seoan at
the trade deadline. I'm good withthat. Well, you just found your
center fielder, no question, man. If that's the case, wow,
(02:50:35):
Yeah, And he's got prodigious power, dude, his The dude doesn't even
use his legs in that and thenthe ball's pumping. He's pumping at four
fifty. That dude would be epic. And he's got glove and he's rangy,
covers a lot of ground for abig fellow. So I have no
issue there, do you No?I would take him in a heartbeat.
You call him Lewis or Louis LouisHouston's louis him Louis. Yeah, of
(02:50:58):
course you can't call guy Lou withoutcalling him sweet first, correct, great
Sweet Lou Whittaker, Sweet Lou Hudson. You know that is no, you
don't know Sweet Lou. Do youknow who Sweet Lou Whittaker is? Yeah?
His uh captain Whittaker on a flightright. No, no, Sweet
Lou Whittaker, here's your wealthy, useless knowledge of the day. Yeah all
(02:51:20):
right, Sweet Lou Whittaker, SweetLou Hudson. Okay, two guys in
the sports world that were phenomenal place. I'm shocked that you don't know who's
for the Tigers best middle possibly thebest middle infield of all time. One
of them, Whittaker and Trammel.Oh talk about Yeah, they're the middle
(02:51:41):
info convel for the Tiger. Wetalked about him before pumping into that short
cush deck an old Tiger stadium.Come deja vu? Right now? Give
me the right hand, a badright hander. Hey, uh yeah,
not to be confused with Chet LemonChester Lemon. Oh yeah, you gotta
chet Yeah. Okay, I rememberthis conversation. That hurts Yeah, and
the tram it hurts me. That'sbad. It's your bad. Yeah,
(02:52:01):
that is my bad. Yeah aboutSweet Lou Hudson, look him, I
don't know who Sweet Lou Hudson is. We're gonna give you a little basketball
knowledge. Okay, sweet long timeAtlanta britt and not Atlanta Braves, Atlanta
hawk. Okay, we had thissweet blue Hudson and Walt Bellamy Lewis Clyde
Hudson, simply known in these partsis Sweetwee. Okay, we had this
(02:52:24):
discussion as well, because I rememberthis jersey popping up here. What about
Sweet Louis Robert. That's so you'reready for that, aren't you? Yeah?
You take it? You would too, Hey, damned right. So
I wanted it at the trade deadlinetripley do you uh? Do you know
who Sweet lou Hudson is? I'mover here looking it up. Yeah,
dude, he doesn't know who EarlCampbell is. If you want to ask
him who Sweet Lou Hudson is.Do you know who Louise Robert Junior is?
(02:52:45):
Probably not? Go? I lovethere you go. Yeah, he's
the centerfielder for the Chicago White Sox. Young kid that just drops beezies,
you know what I'm saying. Bizzles? Yeah? Oh yeah? Is that?
Does that the same as a missilegoing? Yeah? Yeah, well
depends. I mean, a missileis like a line drive home run.
(02:53:07):
It doesn't go over, it goesthrough correg Yeah, it's gonna blow the
you know, blow right through thefence. Now, a bomb yacht SI
tank upper tank. Yeah, that'sgotta that's got some it's got some bandwidth
on it. There you go,that's the bandwid never heard that one.
Yeah, yeah, that's an evenbetter one. Well. I don't want
to brag, but I just did. What what didn't we have zoid bandwidth?
(02:53:28):
We did? We did when Jugglotrade was with a juggsyid. Yeah,
if you got zoid bandwidth, you'rebig. Look you really are.
Well Yeah, you know, ifyou have zoid band with being big,
you're big in the community, Okay, meaning you if you can, if
you got zoid band with, thattakes you into a lot of communities across
the country. All I'm all Iknow is is I encourage the fellas out
(02:53:48):
there that are listening right now thatare single, stay single through the holidays
your zoid bandwidth, like, minimizeit, don't toe the zoid bandwidth gift
giving correct, Yeah, save somemoney the steak. Just break up,
okay, or you can just breakup, drop her like a cheaps I
mean, like a bad habit,or take her back. But that was
no. I was not gonna saycheap. No, I was. I
(02:54:09):
was gonna say it's it's uh,you know a cheap suit was for another
thing. But you drop her likea bad habit. The truth is she
might beat you to it. Shemight say screw you, I'm dropping you.
So the ladies will jump right outin front of the bandwidth and if
you you can't, you can't lethim know that you got. I mean,
if you're like, you're single andyou're like bandwidth, it's like seven
(02:54:30):
of them. Yeah, they maydrop you first. That's a lot.
That's a lot to manage your inyour portfolio, as that your roster's way
too, that's a lot of tomanage your foref. You got a full
ass baseball team right there near Yeah, you got a full lineup. Basically,
you're saying, if you have zoidbandwidth in your single, yeah,
minimize it for the for the holidays, and maybe jump back in like the
(02:54:52):
seventeenth of January, mid January, you know, mid j take look,
have yourself a little off season. They get back into training. Because the
reason you will tell them is it'syou, not the exactly it's me.
I'm trying, you know what itis. I'm focusing on me, on
myself. I'm trying to get better. That's what you tell them, right,
yeah, how can they question it? They can't, right, But
then again if they will, ifyou want back into the zoid band with
(02:55:15):
you, they might, they mightcut you off. Yeah. Well you
know, it's like my father alwaystold me, chicks are like taxi cabs
in New York. What's that Youmiss one? The next one's right behind
them. Whoa? You better putmore respect, more respect. But but
zoid band with your dad did tellyou that, But you just figured you
right right, give credits? Yeah, zoid bandwidth. So you're saying right
(02:55:41):
around now is the time to kickinto maybe eliminate it so your holiday free
cash wise, Well, I'm justsaying, it's not about the gifts,
Brian, It's about the love youshow, and just for that, that's
another reason to shrink here. It'sabout the attention you give them. They
don't care about the gifts, Ohgod, they care about love makes me,
affection, caring, holding hands. What else canoodling pictures, going and
(02:56:05):
getting coffee and walking in this witha ri Abinian when it's cold out,
showing up driving them around Sanders Wonderthe Pecan area? What's that place?
Pecan's got all the like pecan growthand in a golf cart, showing cozy
in them. Yeah, maybe maybesurprise maybe surprise them and show up to
their work with lunch. Okay, okay, that's what they care about.
Go to Preston Wood. Nobody caresabout somebody baton gift or a or a
(02:56:31):
watch or a trip around the worldshoes. They care about. Just attention
and a box of poles for you. Cigars, that's all I care about.
Yeah, give me a few ofthose. All they care about the
good one. They just want love, man. So it's it's not about
the gifts, about the gifts,it's not about the gifts. Well,
it's about the thoughts. It's aboutbeing there for them. What about the
(02:56:54):
thought at tension? About the thoughts, not the thoughts like your your thoughts?
Do you have to give them goodthoughts? Right? Not th h
o t s like th h ou g h t s. Right.
Yeah, I just I think allthree of us took that way exactly.
I think that you probably should, you know, give give give yours the
weight band with more credit. Theycare about being loved and being held.
(02:57:18):
I want to be held. I'mlook, I'm not just a piece of
meat. All right. Well, you've learned something from me. I tell
you, I know, I'm sotired of walking into like high end restaurants
or low end an I down theyand having people look at me down the
hall okay, and and and likeI'm just talking at you that skuy Mike's
(02:57:39):
checking me out right, Or Iwalk into like uh lows, you know
what I'm saying, and all ofa sudden, I'm over there, try
and get Maybe I'm getting those blower. I'll getting a new blower or some
wood, yeah, yeah, iam. Or I'm getting some new flowers
in the in the garden center, and they look at me like I'm a
piece of meat. I've got substance. I'm gonna I'm gonna plant these flowers.
(02:58:01):
I'm gonna mow the grass. Yeah, I'm gonna mow your grass.
I mean I'm gonna mow grass.Right, You're not gonna mo my grass
some grass? Right? Yeah.My whole thing is listen, it's all
about attention and love and caring.Okay, let him know how you feel
about them, all right, andthen drop them. I'm getting job.
I'm getting who could be a potentialcandidate for the Carolina Panthers Open head coaching
(02:58:24):
job. He's a former player.Let's talk about next on Sports Talk seven
ninety, But first let me tellyou about Price Picks. I was on
Price Picks all weekend long. Meand Sean put down a couple of bets
on Prize Picks on Saturday. Didn'thit, But that's okay. You gotta
get back on that horse when youget kicked off. Prize Picks is the
most fun I've had when I winand when I went. I can went
up to twenty five times with mymoney this football season. Now I can
also play during basketball season, andso can you get over to prize picks

(02:59:31):
Code sports Talks. Get out thereand get you a first deposit match
up to one hundred dollars with pricePicks. Putting the logic in illogical,
Former pro Sean Salisbury continues to breakit down one seven ninety Yeah, I
(02:59:58):
already got one rolled up in myleft left on my mind, tighter than
they had been. I had themom betted in the next strand, in
the next strand, bet at inthe next trand she head down, booty
popping in the handstand that sun bright. I get your girl slight tank.
I make that book was selected aspice man. I'm stand why she'd ever
(03:00:20):
gone to man if she ever throwit. I catching got some more coaching
staff news for the Houston Astros.Like I said last segment, Omar Lopez
will be promoted to bench coach alongsideJoe Aspata. They've hired Dave Clark as
their first base coach. Jason Bellwill be quality assurance coach. Bell was
(03:00:43):
a minor league field coordinator slash assistantdirector player development. Clark managed Let's see
yeah, Dave Clark managed in thePioneer League in Idaho Falls this season.
He's a former player and coach forthe Astros and was the Astros interim manager
in two thousand and nine, andhe's highly respected by the players. Gary
Pettis will also return. This allcoming from Brian McTaggart of MLB dot Com
(03:01:05):
on the beat for the Astro,So another source you can trust, absolutely
so some good stuff from the HoustonAstros. Solidifying that coaching staff for Joe
spot his first season. It's crazyto think about shows like to keep people
in house. Have you noticed thatwhen it comes to like in that dugout,
same people, same routine. I'msure some things will change. They
have their own, you know, own little uh managing spice to it.
(03:01:28):
But you know the familiarity in thatdugout will be awfully well. You won't
see a whole lot of new faces. I wouldn't think in that dugout this
year. You know what I'm saying, player, I mean which I mean,
you're going to see a different catcher, but the catcher is already in
the dugout because he was your backup. I don't know about third base from
dubon and shortstop and all the waythrough the second base outfield, DH.
(03:01:52):
I mean, you're going to seea majority of these guys will be back,
so familiarity will be you know,uh, some different rappers with some
new guys, but head to springtraining knowing pretty much where the substance and
the biggest part of your production isstill being that dugout this year, which
(03:02:13):
is a good thing. Yeah,so they're going to keep a lot of
people in house. Promotions going onleft and right. So good for the
Houston Astros and Joe Spot. It'scrazy to think about Sean, but we
are, i mean just a coupleof months away from Astro spring training.
I mean it'll be here before weknow it. I'm not ready for I'm
not either. I'm a joined footballseason, that's for damn sure. Speaking
of football season, Carolina, theyfired Frank Reich yesterday, eleven games into
(03:02:35):
the season. A name has emergedwho has some interest in potentially being a
head coach in the National Football LeagueFormer Carolina Panthers tied in. Greg Olsen
said he would be interested in theposition if it became available to him.
Now, I want the University ofHouston job, So there you go,
I'd be interested. Okay, Thedeal here is Greg knows a lot of
(03:03:01):
football. Let's call up Jeff Saturdayat ESPN. That topic needs to come
up on their set because he's he'son the show today. Ask him how
difficult was the job? I wanthis opinion. Are you against hiring Greg
Olsen in Carolina like they did youin Indianapolis because he's never been a head
coach. He coaches his son's PopWarner youth team, and he's brilliant in
(03:03:26):
the booth. He's a great teacher, and he knows football and is well
respected by players, coaches, andquite frankly, fans that watches to watch
him. He's phenomenal. I now, who knows, Dave Tepper might for
the popularity purpose, because I guaranteeCarolina fans would friggin love it. They
friggin love it, not all ofthem. But that's a tall task to
go from Pop Warner to NFL Iwouldn't do it if I was them.
(03:03:52):
If you want a pr move andit may work out, they don't.
Usually it's a hard job, andhe's got a job right now. He
gets to do all the criticized andyou wake up in that job. You're
getting criticized mercilessly and you got along way to go. I guess he'd
be interested. I mean, whyit's worth interviewing him. I guess if
you're Dave Tepper, and Dave Tepper'sI think, as volatile owner as there
is in football. I mean,if you like security, that ain't the
(03:04:15):
guy to go play for a coachfor. And he's a billionaire, can
do whatever he wants, but hethat's not if you're looking for, Oh,
we're going to be here ten yearsno matter what. Excuse me,
that ain't the place to go tothat owner. He's actually holding a press
conference right now as we speak, talking about firing Frank Reich, and he
said David Tepper says, the factthat he has fired three head coaches in
(03:04:35):
the middle of the season won't makeit difficult to hire his fourth head coach.
And he's a fourth head coach inlike four or five seasons. Well,
the money's not the way. He'sgot plenty of that, and it's
the truth is is that he's oneof those guys that if it's not done
right there to his liking, thenit's going to happen quickly. He obviously
saw that at one in ten. It's probably not the record, it's the
way they were playing during the record. Says, you know what, we're
(03:04:58):
not getting anybody, We're getting worse. So let me get this now before
I have to go any further. And you know, energy and the building
may change, but Greg Olsen, you can't hire him as a head coach.
And I think he's as good abroadcaster as we got going right now.
But listen, talking about it ontelevision or on a radio is a
little different. Like I said,I'm not even concerned about the ex's and
(03:05:20):
o's. I know he's got that. Greg Olsen can walk in and talk
tight end better than the guy who'steaching that's coaching him. I'm just telling
you, because his hand's in thedirt and he's played it, he knows
a little more. Now the coachmay be able to teach it better and
get it across, but he shouldknow ex's and o's. That's not my
concern with the head coach. It'sall the administrative management, time management leadership
(03:05:46):
get buy in, so everybody buysin because some of these players that are
on that roster, do you know, they don't know who he is really,
I'm talking about his player? Ohyeah, because yeah, excuse me.
They know who he is because he'sCarolina and he's a broadcaster. If
Greg Olsen wasn't doing far right now, there are rookies on that team that
have no idea Greg Olsen was adominant tight end in this league and he's
(03:06:07):
not even a decade removed it right, I'm just talent going from my history
of talk. Once it's three orfour years outside of some don't even know
Greg go, oh yeah, youmean the guy used to play tight in
here. You would get some tosay it. He's a broadcaster, so
they do know because he does games. But you just can't. You just
can't. You just can't hire himas the head coach. But it's temper
(03:06:28):
so you can. But this experiment, now, if you want to hire
him and say come on in andbe the assistant head coach and coach,
be a position coach and call theplace if even if you think he's ready
for that, then go for it. But as the head coach, I
would say, you got to geta little more security or you're in danger
of firing another coach. As muchas I love Greg Olsen, that tall,
that's too tall a task experience wise. That's you don't hire him.
(03:06:50):
Absolutely not. I think it's probablya mistake. But if I'm Greg Olsen,
I don't blame him for listening.I would too if I was him.
Yeah, the leadership buy in ifyou give me those two things first,
and hire a great staff. Aninexperienced head coach can win. If
he's got those things. The x'sand o's will take care of himself if
you've got a good assistant coach andcoaching staff. There's a former Texan that
(03:07:13):
has found himself as a Hall ofFame semi finalists at the Pro Football Hall
of Fame. Who is it?We'll discuss the next right here on Sports
Talk seven ninety, But before weget to that, let me talk to
you about Men's T Clinic Men's TotalWellness Authority, which is Men's T Clinic.
November is Men's Health Awareness Month andall about men's prostate and mental health

top of me just be wanting,of course. Well, first one man,
that's not swapping me running a compliments, pulling it back out of that

(03:09:45):
thirty, the launch pad starts thepregame show right here on your home for
Rockets basketball. That is Sports Talkseven ninety. Last segment here on a
Tuesday on the Shawn Salisbury Show,Sean Brown and Tripoli, Mike el called
the new head coach for the TexasA and m five nagis who congrats to
Mike and the agg He's got agood one seven million year with some bonus
(03:10:07):
opportunities seven MILLI known around here.Yeah, it's recruiting season, guys around
about to go on the recruiting youknow, all over the country trail.
You'll have to get on that trailright away. Start securing some Texas players.
Man, hey, I got someHall of Fame semi finalists. Julius
Peppers, Antonio Gates chosen as semifinalsfor the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class
(03:10:31):
twenty twenty four in their first yearof eligibility. Former Texan Andre Johnson one
of the eight players who made itto the final stage of fifteen in the
Class of twenty twenty three return assemifinalists. It's Jared Allen Dwight for any
Devin Hester, Andre Johnson, ToryHolt, Patrick Willis, Willy Anderson,
and Darren Woodson all looking to getin after falling short a year ago.
(03:10:54):
Yeah, I uh, you saidWilly Anderson to tackle from the Saints,
so he said, Darren. DarrenWoodson may be the most underrated player on
that list. He got overshadowed inDallas because of all the great offensive players,
but he was there during the Akmanin that group run, and he
was as bad a man as therewas in a league at that time that
(03:11:16):
his position. Phenomenal player. Idon't know if he gets in this time,
but I hope for Woody because Iloved working with him at ESPN two.
One of my favorite dudes in allof sports, obviously, Andre Johnson's
one. I'm wondering if they wantif Tory Holt is going to get the
nod over him first because of SuperBowl gaudy numbers. Both Worthy and I'm
(03:11:41):
just wondering if that's going to comeinto play because the Rams the greatest show
on turf Ike Bruce is in.You know that's a Marshall fulk Kurt Warner.
You add the fourth guy to thelist of a guy who deserves to
be in. And so I'm wonderingif super Bowl will come into play and
their success in the postse in.You know, you know, a wide
receiver himself can't control and Andre Johnsonat some points getting in. It sucks
(03:12:05):
waiting those names. I would imagineJulius Peppers and or Antonio Gates' first timers
are getting in. I don't seehow you'd keep Peppers out. One of
those two as a first timer isgetting in in my opinion, and belongs
in. That's a list. Listen, what an honor it is to get
to this point. But to stillI mean you want to close it out.
(03:12:26):
Yeah, but man, think aboutthe names that are left off the
Hall of Fame list. Think aboutthe names that are left off getting to
the Hall of Fame. How goodsome of these players are and how long
some of them have to wait. It's incredible. I mean, a player
like Andre Johnson could be waiting anotheryear and he was unbelievable. He could
(03:12:46):
be waiting longer than another year.Yeah, I mean it's that it's crazy
think about that that guy, howdominant a player he was, and still
can't get his his bust in theHall of Fame. Yet it's tough sledding,
man, It just is craziness.I feel like Antonio Gates is a
no brainer. I think both Peppersand Gates are no brainers. I do.
(03:13:09):
I think both of them, maybeeven Peppers before Gates. Yet,
Peppers and Gates both probably getting in. I wouldn't be shocked if both made
it in their first ballot. Althoughfor some reason, somehow we like to
make guys wait, are they Hallof Famers? Did they dominate their era
for a sustained amount of time?Just that alone? And the answer to
(03:13:31):
both is they sure as hell did. I to me, we can start
the list wherever you want. Itstarts on first time about those two belong
in, and I'm not gonna ifit don't. Please don't give me the
answer. Not you. Oh well, Peppers is going to get in any
way, so we'll worry about himnext year. We'll just get the guy
(03:13:52):
who's waited five years, you know, post five years after his fifth year
after he you know, he's inhis tenth year, a fifth year retire
or should I say his tenth yearof retirement. He's waited five since he
was eligible to be in, andhe keeps waiting. If you're worthy of
it, put him in, becauseyou know what, it is an honor
I would imagine if you're Julius Peppersto be put in, I mean the
Hall of Fame's Hall of Fame twentyyears from now. Nobody cares was your
(03:14:13):
first ballot or were you a thirdballot of fame? Right? But at
the time when you say, Iwalked off the field and there was a
no brainer that dude performed, hedidn't have to wait. There's something to
be said about that. That meansyou're the elite of the elite of the
elite. And Peppers and Antonio Gatesare Hall of Fame players through and through,
(03:14:37):
and both have proven that daily basis, weekly basis, yearly basis their
entire careers. And there's a lotHow's Devin Hester not in the world in
the Hall of Fame now? Thereason why because he's a majority special teams
player. We don't seem to wantto put those guys in as quickly.
But I can tell you this theChicago Bears ain't sniffing that Super Bowl run
without Devin Hester on that team.He impacted his They deserve their special teams,
(03:15:03):
players deserve. Listen, you knowwhat we wanted when they got to
kick a field goal, but wedon't want to put him in the Hall
of Fame when they do this.Dude changed games from the return position.
He'll eventually get in, but damnwas he a difference maker. Listen to
some of these other names for semifinals. You talk about some of these
names that are left off. Well, here's some other semi finalists. Eric
Allen and Kwon Bolden, Jarry Evans, London Fletcher Eddie, George James Harrison,
(03:15:26):
Rodney Harrison, Robert Matthis, SteveSmith Senior, Fred Taylor, Heines,
Ward, Ricky Waters, Reggie Wayne, Vince Wilfork. I was fortunate
Reggie Wayne is going to get intoThat's another wide receiver name on there with
the Ry Holt, Andre Johnson.Ronnie Harrison liked that he talked about teammate
of mind. Yeah it's a badband, dude. I know. I'm
(03:15:46):
just telling you. And you mentionedgo through the Jarry Evans, a great
offensive lineman who else did you goto George Eddie, George Fletcher. But
before that there was a name EricAllen. Listen, another guy who I
worked with Arizona State. I playedagainst him, covered him. All those
guys I either covered, he haspedor played against or or Eric Allen.
(03:16:11):
Eric and I played against each otherwhen he was Philly. Talk about a
bad man too. And Eric isnot a self promoter, but was as
consistent he was on that Reggie White, Jerome Brown, Seth Joyner, That's
Philly teams. He was as goodas any guy that had on the team.
He was as good at his position, maybe outside Reggie White, as
any guy a corner was in theleague. He was that good. Those
(03:16:33):
names on there, somebody, it'sit's stupid how good those players are,
right you mentioned, Oh my god, Eddie, George, James Harrison,
Robert Math. I mean all theseguys understated another guy, Robert Math.
This is all he did was punishpeople and rushed the passer a day at
Jared Allen, phenomenal play, righthe's on there? Isn't it is another
(03:16:54):
Freeny. We got some edge rushersto disrupt games like crazy. But don't
leave out the special team the safetyin the court course, safety seem to
have trouble getting in at times. We know about special teamers, you know,
Eric Allen's been waiting a long time. But don't punish Julius Peppers and
Antonio Gates for that. Put anextra body and if they're worthy of it.
(03:17:16):
I think we have less than fourhundred guys in the Football Hall of
Fame. Think how many great onesare sitting at home. Reggie Wane,
all those catches he hads, like, can I get mines? Andre Johnson?
You mentioned Jared Allen was disruptive.I mean, hard to put them
all in at once, but Ican tell you and they won't. But
being a finalist, what an honor. But getting into the Hall of Fame
and some of the guys that areleft out over the course of time,
(03:17:37):
you're like, how it's pretty phenomenalsome of the things and some of the
names on that list, what anhonor for those guys. Congratulations yep.
Have to see if Andre Johnson moveson from the semi finalist spot. He's
deserving of the Hall of Fame. But when will he get in this year?
Next year? I have to waitand see. That's going to do
it for the Sean Salisbury Show.He is Sean Salisbury our producer Emmanuel Elmore,
(03:17:58):
