Speaker 1 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Sewan Salisbury, the USC Truths, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury, Ryan.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
You could have just listened to us yesterday. We had
the Colorado game as scripted. A good perimeter people, they'll
put up numbers in the end, they'll beat North Dakota State,
and North Dakota State will be inside the nine and
a half points and play him tough. There you go.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
That's all that's that's the analysis, because that's exactly how
it happened. They got some really good players. Travis Hunter
is is really good short Sanders is pretty talented quarterback.
But other than that, Jimmy Horn Jr. And they've got
some run after the catch ability. Man, they can flat
out turn it on. They've got speed on the perimeter.
(01:00):
But they're gonna get pushed around by some other teams.
Matter of fact, Nebraska's gonna beat them when they play.
Is that next week?
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Excuse me? That is next week? Yeah, I think Nebraska
gets them. But it was a good start in North
Dakota State. As you can well see. They they're a
good football team.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Yeah, and unfortunately over for North Carolina Max Johnson carted
off with a hip injury.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah, that sucks. I hope, I hope he gets healthy soon.
I haven't heard anything today but rooting for him. His
pops is a good friend of mine, So I hope
it turns out okay and he doesn't miss it. You know,
he's had that whirlwind where he's at LSU to Texas
A and m North Carolina. I just I want it
to work out good for him so he can have
a chance. And his dad is such a good dude,
(01:42):
so hopefully as all right, Yeah, what's his name?
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Mark Jones should never call a Colorado game ever again.
He glazes them every chance he gets.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Oh dude. It's when I turned it on and heard it.
I'm like, oh here we frigging go dude. I'm shador.
Sanders throws one for an incoby pass.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
And he just like he's like, man, Sanders really held
that pocket clean.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
I mean, just what he'll wash down? Holy cow, It's
it's a hard watch.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Listen twenty four to seven the whole game, and he
was like his approach, what did he say?
Speaker 1 (02:23):
He said something? Uh?
Speaker 4 (02:24):
His command of this team tonight has been above reproach.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
They're losing the North Dakota State right now. He has
some heavy hyperbolic stuff. God it is. And then he'll
throw He'll like to throw a lyric from a song
in there on one of his before he goes to
break when he's wanted to break. Yeah, he about Oh,
it's just there's there's what are they are there's freshish
(02:49):
for breeze. Yeah. It throwing that in like, I mean,
it's like, come on man. Yeah. I've known him a
long time the last few years, four or five years.
It's been a it's hard. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
When I when I heard his voice, I was like,
oh no, this is what I got to listen to.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
I mean, you got to overcome that while you're watching
the game. Man, Oh dude, he can he can that.
I mean there's some serious ball washing going on there
because he did it last year too with this team. Yeah,
but congrats to Colorado for taking care of their business
when necessary and they start off the same way. Put
up huge numbers in the opener against TCU last year,
(03:31):
and sder Sanders is a say you one thing. He'll
hang in that pocket though he will deliver the ball.
Guys like guys who aren't afraid to take a hit
and deliver the ball. He did it a couple I mean,
he made some throws and took some vicious hits after
and kept coming. Let the FBS, nobody took more sacks
than him last year. He took a lot of hits.
That was their number one priority in the off season
to get that fixed. And we'll see if they can.
(03:53):
I still just don't think they're physical enough. I just don't.
And they're going to give up a lot of points
on defense still, but it was they they look good
and the resilience to come back and win. I mean,
he's brought him back. You know, two or three times
last year they didn't beat USC, but he got him
in it. And then uh, you know against Colorado State
last year obviously against TCU, he he s he ended
(04:16):
up beating them, but he gave a valuant effort. You know,
they were getting their ass handed to him. And and
then last night they had to hang around me. He
was back and forth and they had the lead, did
the coach. They couldn't put him away. And that guy
knows how to take you down the field. Travis Hunters
a hell of a talent, and so they did it.
But I still don't. I still think they're a bottom
third team in that conference. Yeah, they're gonna get boat
(04:37):
racing the big town. Yeah, like co continue there, they're
gonna get Utah is gonna pushed around. But it was
an impressive win last night. But yeah, it's sometimes a
hard watch of the of the celebrity slash broadcaster ball
washed that goes on. Yeah it's bad, dude, it was bad.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Did you see by chance what Steven f Austin did
to their on it last night?
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Did I see how many points they put up? Yeah,
they played and somebody hung seventy last Yes that they
were playing a team university called North American. They're in,
They're in nai a school.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
They put up seventy in the first half, they won
seventy seven and nothing.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Why schedule that? Yeah, I have no idea. Why schedule that?
Yeah you need one, But come on, now, I just
and team. But it's not just Stephen Foston. I just
and maybe maybe it's more fair for them to schedule
it than Alabama scheduling somebody like that, but or Kansas
scheduling lynn Wood. You know what I mean? Yeah, I
(05:40):
guess I get it. It's a good payoff for the opposed,
for the team that's going to take their ass whooping.
You know they're gonna get good payday for going on
the road and playing somebody. I just hey, did Stephen
f Aston didn't? They didn't get better last night? Does
that make sense? North American's right here in Houston too.
I mean they won, Yeah, they won one did Steven F. Austin,
(06:03):
And it's a win, But they didn't get better. What
do you learned from seventy points in the first half?
Speaker 4 (06:07):
Two years ago they played SFA played another nai A
school called Warner, and they won that game ninety eight
to nothing.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Why are they scheduling an ai A game? You think
you think you learn anything about your team? You score
seventy points, you might as well have been playing a
good high school Friday night team. Crazy. That's still good.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
But they back for them. But it says you're not
learning anything and you're not getting better. My goodness, astros one.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
By the way, they did welcome in Jason Hayward, a
couple of RBIs big walk by Shay. Why am I
losing my mind? I mean, yeah, what am I? Yeah?
Are the two rookies right? It was descend white guys,
but bases loaded, walk and a couple of airs in
the eighth inning. I like to say his name, Dezenzo,
(07:00):
And you know, at one point, you look, Presley comes
in the eighth, gets his you know, gets the job done.
But at one point I'm thinking, oh, they're gonna lose
this game three too, right, yeah, And then they load
them up all two v scores. You walk, a run in,
score on a what, then the fielder's choice, and then
they scored on another air and the rest was history.
And hater gets his what twenty nights straight say what
(07:22):
it was? So it it's a that's a big win
against a good team. And they had to talk about
having to scratch it out man, yeah, and find a
way to get it done.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
But Joe Spotty emptied his bench by the eighth inning.
They had nobody else on the bench by the eighth inning.
He pinch its everybody.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yeah, he's he's he's pinch it. Happy mean god man,
But came through yesterday and a good at bat, draw
the bases, load to walk and go ahead run the
rest history. Big win for them last night on Thursday,
this four game or so. Defensively, Astros have not looked
good down the stretch. They're grateful that Kansas City didn't
look good defensively either. In the eighth inning. I think,
if I'm not mistaken, Jeremy Payane I had this in
(08:02):
my notes. Yeah, Jeremy Peney has made five airs in
the past ten games. He is not swinging the batwell
and he's not playing defense well, am I right? I
don't know how many hits he got last night. I
was flipping back yet one hit. It was a little
bit was baseball college football mix. But he's it was
a struggling road trip too for him, wasn't it.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (08:22):
I mean numbers wise, and then to come home and uh,
that's gonna They're gonna have to keep They're gonna have
to catch the ball better and do it because you
saw what the when the Royals made their airs, and
I mean the ash was at one point overcame four
airs in a game on that road trip and we
were able to win. That's not gonna happen very often
against good teams.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
He didn't have a single hit against the Philadelphia Phillies Baltimore.
He had a pretty pretty decent season, pretty decent road trip,
but against Philadelphia oh for thirteen. I mean last night
he went one for three with a walk.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
So win. I think Seattle was off last night. They
were idle. Yeah, you got to call it idle. Yeah.
And so the lead is back to four and here
we go. So there and Jason Hayward, I'm sure he's
excited to be here and contribute right off the bat.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
Yep, got a two RBI double, So good for him.
Chas McCormick was officially sent down. They made a couple
of moves yesterday the Astros did. Brian Kingley left that's
been pitching out of the bullpen, was sent down. So
there's a couple of moves to get Jason Hayward a
spot on the roster.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
A couple other notes across the league. Folks, So we
don't have King or Tuck? No, I know, no, sure,
don't you don't have King or Tuck. Okay, somebody's crowd.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
See what Rich Hill did for who pitches for the
Boston Regain. He does twenty twentieth major league season. How
was the dude's like forty or something? I think forty four? Oh, yes, okay,
he's in his forties. He is forty four years oldultilly
thirty nine or forty real a fourth stint with the
Red Sox.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Yes, I was gonna say he's got he keeps his apartment,
keeps his condo. There, don't hate man.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Richell joined Tim Wakefield as the only pitchers to appear
for the Red Sox at forty four years old or older.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Richard Hill rich Hill yep, man and our last weekend
before the NFL kicks in too. It's true you pumped, Yeah,
more pumped about college? Right I am? And we got
you know, college game days in college station this weekend.
I mean, who's gonna be the celebrity guest picker? Johnny Manziel?
(10:42):
You think so already been announced? Was driving in They
said it hadn't been announced. I was listening to Serious
XM the Highway. Yeah, so Manzie's doing it. Yeah, he
announced it. I think yesterday. Johnny football is what we
like to call Johnny f and football, Johnny football, Johnny
Johnny fan football.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Yeah, Johnny Manziel will be the college game day guest
picker for Notre Dame at texasing them this Sunday. I
can only imagine what kind of obnoxious head ass stuff
that Pat mcviee has planned for being in college station.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Oh good gracious, I just can only imagine, imagine, because
it's going to be as cheesy as it gets. All
that college game day set, right.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
And wait till Johnny Manziel gets up there, and then
Pat maxis, Yeah, I don't don't.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Even want to watch it.
Speaker 6 (11:38):
Oh proska.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
What he's gonna be doing, Dude, he's gonna be doing.
He's gonna be so extra with I'm here in college station. Yeah,
with the boots and the babes bigger than the hats.
Yeah whatever.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
He's probably gonna be wearing a cowboy hat since he's
in Texas, right, and he'll turn around, gash, He'll turn around,
he'll go.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
Dear, yeah, this is how your tails.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
And he's gonna have like because you know, Texas A
and M always has like their crowd always has those towels.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Is probably gonna have that, and he's gonna say.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
He's gonna oh my god, he's gonna be so Now.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
There's a lot of places, but this here exactly every
text bigger at Texas.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
Look at this.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Sturdybum Yeah, oh you know, jaw it's awful and I
love him, but you know it's covered and you know, sorry,
I'm gonna have to miss that. Yeah, you'll be all right?
What times that start? What times you usually start here?
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Eighty eight am, I believe. Okay, So I'll be six
am in Scottsdon.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Yeah, You'll still be in the sheets, No dude.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
Now I'll be up grinding, headed to the gym, headed
over the sports book.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Yeah, that ain't no grind, dude, that's just a fun day.
Just the way of life, you know. I'm telling you though. Yeah,
he's gonna be all in. I mean it's gonna be
and then man's like, it's gonna be brosky love right, Johnnie.
Speaker 6 (13:00):
When you were here, we got Johnny Football. You remember Johnny?
He is there anybody who's done more than this guy?
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Yeah, that's exactly what it's gonna be. Good God, dude,
I love Yeah. I can't wait to see that all.
We also love our astros in Houston.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
And most likely all across along Star State. Yep, let's
look at that wing. He got a little, uh little
nerve wrecking there for a while. Testy O. Brian Bray
coming in and you know we give somebody the heave
ho too. You get the Yeah, Bregmant got got tossed early.
They threw a breaking bomb on Breggy bomb, which I
hate saying, yeah home playing umpires that call plumber and
(13:39):
then he threw Bregman out. It's a quick heave ho
he might have missed one. It's heading down the stretch.
Don't you think maybe we should have a little patience
of the umpire? But you think so, let's get the break.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Well, we'll talk about that Bregmant ejection next on Sports
Talk seven eighty.
Speaker 6 (13:57):
Beryl's his way to the basket.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
I'm the windowing in.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Hey, it's Jayshaunte.
Speaker 7 (14:01):
Back to the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
On Sports Talk seven ninety Black Ship Station of your rockets. Hell, yeah, bitches,
(14:31):
let's go. Yeah that it is fights on Friday. Gigle Mags,
this is tex A and m right. Yeah, okay, Well,
I get in the spirit of us Aggie Alumo, here
we go, those of us in the aggie industry. Yeahsan,
(14:52):
the damn rights you ready? No, I tried out for
the yell leader of us missed out? Is it cheesy?
Speaker 4 (15:00):
And I probably said you were too athletic. I'll say
you damn too badly.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Hey, There'll be a lot of spirit floating around that
stadium tomorrow. And brother, there's no question fighting Irish rolling
into town. That place is gonna be nuts. It's about
but about a buck seven, buck eight in the stands
or whatever it is at Kyle Field, this song will
be rocking. There are more traditions that hem than any
place I ever end in my life, more traditions than wins.
Whoa facts that hurts? All right? I mean, in truth,
(15:36):
if you've never been, you're gonna find I mean people here.
I'm not preaching the choir here, but if you've never
been across the country and he waltz in there, he'll
be amazed. You're like, what do we do this this
time out? What are we supposed to do?
Speaker 7 (15:48):
In the.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
You'll have to get get used to the yell leaders
having a different style. But you know, kiss the person
next to you stand up? Do they sway back and
forth and arms around? Yeah? I mean there's some awesome
traditions song something like that. I don't know what they're
(16:13):
saying their their fight song is built around the university.
Upset alert bitches, you think you got a chance against
Notre Dame. Chance in the crib new coach, hence why
(16:33):
they may come out smoking.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
Come on now, defense gotta be better. I think Notre
Dame is overrated every single year or so.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Yeah, give me, hey, I'll tell you what that that
that yell thing tonight at midnight yell? Oh god, I
forgot about that. With the Irish cove at all. They're good.
Now what's his dave?
Speaker 8 (17:01):
O rock?
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Old rock. There's gonna be some old rock talk tonight.
I was over in Indiana and I saw an Irish
guy and then I said, hey, Irish guy, Hey, Irish,
where's your clover? Hey? The only thing the Irish are
(17:23):
good for him is making their own fans green man,
I gotta you gotta love him, dude.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
There's only one good thing about an Irish guy, and
and it's it's him and a pub.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
And we're waiting for Have you heard the midnight yell stuff?
I have not tell you this, don't because everything else
about it, it's awesome. That's that'll like, look you like,
what what are you doing? But hey, go agg man.
A lot of respect for the fighting Irish always have
(18:03):
great rivalry with my Trojans. But I'm looking forward to
some change. I'm root for my guy, Trev Albert. Trev Alberts,
who I worked with the ESPN is the a d
now and uh, I hope big things for him. And
you know, we joke, but it's and have a little
bit of fun at their expense. It's all in good fun.
But it's a little cheesy at times to say the least. Okay,
(18:24):
but I love the Aggie spirit and all those traditions
and that place is going to be rocking, so let's
gig them. I'm picking upset right all right off, And
I know my buddies out there that are Irish fans
are like, you can't do that, Sean. Yeah, well it's
in the house, so I'm gonna go with it. I'm
going I'm going with it now. I don't know if
(18:45):
that's a straight I'm picking this one. Can they come
win straight up? Can't they? Yeah? Irish Frank seventh in
the country. Gonna be difficult. Uh, they usually are at
to begin every year. I feel like they're overrated, and
so you know they're well Marvin, you know, coach has
done a good job there. What coach Freeman and Marc
(19:05):
and and Marcus Freeman was a good player, but he
is also a he's a he's got great energy, and uh,
I think I think that he's only going to get
better at Notre Dame. But this is a this is
a tough place to come and play at the college station,
and they're going to be ready to go. And I'm
a big Connor Wigman fan. So we'll see how it
(19:25):
turns out. But it's going to be rocking and I
can't wait to hear what Midnight Yell says tonight. I
wonder who they talk about it next week. Who they
give the head yell leader to this year? I don't know.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
I didn't study that. Let's see, let's check it out.
They got an official Twitter account. Who we got? Man,
they haven't posted it. Unbelievable slacking. What we got going
on here? You gotta you gotta post your main dog, right,
top dog dude.
Speaker 9 (19:55):
M hm.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
So that being said, I think it's gonna be it.
We got a hell. I mean my Alma minors got
a big one A and m my other Alma minors
got a big one.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
My Alma model loss last night? What happened to? What happened?
They get all raised?
Speaker 10 (20:10):
Nah?
Speaker 4 (20:10):
Yeah, not that's not too good. Not too great, Well,
was it forty two twenty one? That's a boat race
a little bit by twenty one points? Oh you guys,
are we going to take the the off soil Ras State?
First year in Division two? So you want a hall pass?
I really thought they weren't. We're gonna put up any points?
Speaker 1 (20:26):
You want a haul pass? Are you good? Looks like
it's Trevor Yelton. No, it's twenty three twenty the soul
Ross State University, right, put some respect on it. Are
you giving A and M any chance? Are you gonna
We're gonna wait till our picks.
Speaker 11 (20:38):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (20:38):
No, I'll give them a chance for sure. I think. Uh.
I think Connor Wegman is a hell of a quarterback.
I do too. Hopefully you can stay healthy this year.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
Plus they got a new regime down there, and uh
they have to win, like they have to win Texas
A and M every year. I feel like it's a
lot of hype. Win a couple of their first games
and they just fall off the table. They have to win.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Texas A and I listen as a guy who loves him,
but they've been overrated for ever since Jimbo's been there.
They've been overrated, Right, Well, what about the twenty twenty
that was short? And see they had a good year,
but they've been overrated. The talent, the production has not
matched the recruiting talent that they've supposedly brought in what
was expected of one hundred million dollar coach. Now, with
(21:20):
a new coach, I expect things to be different, a
little more physical, a little less what's the word I'm
looking for a little less. Uh. It felt to me
with Jimbo that there's always Jimbo's got rabbit ears. He's
a good coach. We've got rabbit ears, and you know
he's got a national championship from Florida State. But I've
always felt that there's it feels combative with when when
(21:42):
he was there, just like that, there was disarray among
the coaching staff. I mean, just this constant and like
I say, he gets offended by what anybody else says.
He always has and but he's like I said, he's
he knows x's and o's. But the bottom line is
that they weren't. They weren't good overall. I'm talking about
(22:02):
they could when one was good, the other wasn't. When
they were throwing it, well, they didn't run it and
vice versa. They could not put it together piece it
together in a non shortened season on a regular basis.
They have good players and they had good moments, but
they get beat by teams and not supposed to get
beat by right, And he's like, why didn't you guys
show up? But I expect A and M to have
a rejuvenated and a newfound approach to this. They'll play
(22:26):
better defense and I think they'll get after it and
I can't wait to see what the coach does with
this team and how physical they'll they'll be coming out.
Jake Carter, it's given up.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
He had yell leader for the twenty twenty four five
seasons from give me a little backer and give me
lan Antonio.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
He is a management major.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Okay, you will guide the four other yell leaders as
they represent the spirit of agu Land across campus.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Four others. It feels like there's like fives. It feels
like there's twenty of them.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
Now there's there's five of them that rock the cheesecake
factory waiter outfits.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
So that's all there is is five around the stadium
when I'm there, and they're right there in there in
the first row there, right, Yeah, only five of them.
I thought there were more than that. So when they're
talking about old rock, there's only five of them talking. No, no, no.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
So the yell leaders are the guys that are dressed
in all white. Yeah, they do the the white like
the white pants and the white Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Maybe.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
Yeah, there's five of them that do those stories.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Yeah, you're right. They just wear overalls, you know for
the midnight. Yeah, fella feels like there's always been more.
We congratulates. What's the name Trevor, Jake? I don't know
where I got Trevor from that? Jake, you were thinking
of Trevor. Who's the guy you just said, Trevor Emman?
Who Trevor Immelman the broad golf? Golf?
Speaker 4 (23:38):
You know who's the guy that us a broadcast from?
He's the eighty at Texas? Oh, trev Albert, trev Alberts.
There you go, yeah, trev Alberts.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Now Jake Carter, what a basic white guy name? Where's
he from? San Antonio? Just as santoin? What do you
think he's wearing? Probably khakis? Uh? What do you wearing?
She sounds hideous? Well, she's a guy, So Jake might
be a Khaki's after the game.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
Well, he's probably gonna be an overalls or you know,
celebrate the win. Who knows, Jigham dog.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Yeah, we'll see. Let's go Aggie.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
Now we're gonna talk plenty of college football today throughout
the show. Got to talk about these Houston astros. Bregman
got the heave ho what happened? We'll discuss the next
is also take your call seven one three, two point
two five seven niney here on The Shawn Salisbury Show.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
You got paid.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
He got paid thirty million year average, literally the same
contract that they offered him.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Like weeks ago, a buck twenty for four. Yeah. Can
you imagine how I'm gonna turn down thirty million year?
Speaker 4 (24:43):
Yeah, I'm gonna go do it. He's not the best
receiver in the league right well on his team, Deebo
Samuel's better than him.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
More versatile. Great, Yeah, I I would agree with that.
Another thing, another, and another one. Are you about to say,
Steph Curry sixty two million dollar do one year extension?
I think it was sixty two and a half million bucks.
Who cares side of one year? I think it was
sixty two million. What what what what? What? What? He's
pretty good. I think it was a fifty two. I
(25:12):
think it was sixty two something like that for Stephi
plus Steph for one one year, sixty two point six
million dollars. I said, sixty two five. I chieved him
out of a hundie damn one hundred grand man sixty
two mil to go play hoops on a team that
won't sniff the NBA title.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
They will not, they will never win another one. There
you go, and I the downfall Steve Kerr, I'm all
about it. Can't wait, dude.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Yeah, I wouldn't say I'll stand in line to party
with Steve Kerr. No, absolutely not. I'm good. I want
you never mind, I'm good. Thank you, dork. He greats
on me and at times insufferable.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Yeah, very insufferable. But hey, it's either here or there,
right we digress from there? Seven one, three, two two
five seven ninety Roger Roger Roger on Roger tripley.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
We punched Hi my U. There we go? Roger was happening.
What's going on?
Speaker 11 (26:03):
Fellas?
Speaker 12 (26:04):
I hope you'll have a great weekend. U. I I
just have a couple of things.
Speaker 9 (26:09):
That's a small thing.
Speaker 12 (26:10):
That can go into a big thing. I just want
to say before before it happens. So it's about us
contradicting himself again.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
It's all good.
Speaker 12 (26:19):
We all want we won.
Speaker 9 (26:22):
Do being the boys.
Speaker 12 (26:23):
Uh did the job at the end, but before that,
you know, he had a brave. You come back again
in a high leverage situation and either two things are
gonna Either one of the two things are gonna happen.
Speaker 13 (26:34):
Either you have to remove.
Speaker 12 (26:36):
A brave from from high leverage or you're gonna have
to give him some little rest because he contradicted himself
and said, hey, you know it's a lost season, which
it is. And he brought him back out there on
I guess on short rest and had him go out there.
He looked tired man, he couldn't find his own and
he saw it early early, and then you know he
already had guys on base from when Hunter Brown left.
(27:00):
And I just go, I tell the look on Hunter
Brown's face at it all he was he was pitching rightfully,
So I just, uh, I don't know what the spotted
speaking he's he had guys uh maybe uh maybe a
Taylor uh, maybe Taylor Scott or maybe a Marist or
somebody like that to handle that that situation a little
(27:21):
bit better and then putting it tired of brave in there,
because like instead the long season and the guy's getting tired,
he looks tired, and and either either you give him
apple want of rest and and and get him and
geared up for the playoffs.
Speaker 14 (27:36):
And I know you don't want to get a Rooski,
but it's like a fine line that you have to
deal with. But I just think that he's a little
bit contradicting himself. He had almost off with the game
him glad it didn't. And that's really all I had
to Breggy getting tossed. You know, my dell is I
love to spottle like a like like an extra lawn chair.
(27:57):
You know, I love the guy, but uh, the thing is,
you know you're gonna go out trying to think of God,
feel free.
Speaker 12 (28:04):
To a little basically my brother, and then you know,
make it, make it, make it the least. Look you know,
like you like you're you're you're fighting for your guys.
Speaker 9 (28:12):
Out there, and just like, Okay, I'll.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Appreciate it, Roger, enjoy a long weekend. Brother. Yeah, I
have a good Thanks? Did he say?
Speaker 4 (28:27):
He loved Joe a spottle like a long lawn, like
an extra launch air, extra lawnchair, got it?
Speaker 1 (28:33):
I think you said extra I don't think he said
extra long launch. I think he said extra launch launchair.
I mean having an extra launch chair. Do you come
in handy get cad, especially the tailgate yep, or a
baseball game? Good good lawnchair is key mm hm for
Joe's spot.
Speaker 9 (28:52):
Or at.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
Sitting around a campfire with your boys? Hey man, anybody
got an extra launch chair?
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Are you guys gonna play twister at this guy's uh
in Scottsdale? I think you guys should play naked twister?
What at your your bathroom party? Yeah, seems like something
you guys would do, a little twister. You got that house,
you got your airbnb?
Speaker 5 (29:16):
Just got May?
Speaker 1 (29:17):
Maybe Friday? What's today? Thursday? Friday night? Maybe Saturday night?
Where we watch college football? Mixing during a halftime? Little twister?
You and your guys, We got a high boxy chef
coming over. You think you want to get on the
action too, Oh dude, he'll just cook and watch. It's
wrong red? Well, how do have they call it? I
forget how twister? I mean, you know how to play twister?
You played a lot, Yeah, so I think I think
(29:39):
you guys should play it.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
And I can play twister since like eighth grade, while
we were also playing Spin the Bottle.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Good, good time to start Twitter, dare, Spin the Bottle
and Twister. You guys look great doing that, just guys
being dudes. Yeah, sounds like a normal batsom. And if
you win, just start celebrating, man hugging and stuff. I
think that's awesome. What's wrong? Yeah, and then report back
to us on Tuesday. Tell us how it was when
you come in here. Can you imagine? Hey, guys, let's.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
It's you're you're just speaking like you've you've from experience. No,
I think you guys know you and the dudes used
to do in the NFL like.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Little a little more than a little more macho than Twister.
I think that you guys should play mixing strip poker
and Twister like double down on both, you know, just
kind of it's like a It's like musical chairs if
you jump with one. Man, I lost my shirt, let
me go play twister. Yeah, I think that's what you
make a good mix for you guys. Okay, I can't
(30:34):
wait to hear that one. Hey, what you guys doing,
Let's stick around and play twister? Yeah, instead of go
to a nice, good Mexican restaurant or something and it's
goott in the dale. Got to Madero tonight, food tad over,
maybe maybe a tad atmosphere nice. I can't say it's over.
It's good, it's paid. Yeah, it's not. It's not over,
it's it's uh. If you have the whole token Madera
(30:56):
for your guys, it'll be good for them to see
it's gonna be packed, gonna be up, or are you
gonna Are you gonna you think of joggers?
Speaker 4 (31:04):
No, I've heard a pair of Lulu dress pants that
I'm they're like kind of driv Who's Who's whose? Yeah,
they're not like super They're not like I'm not gonna
get in there and wearings.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
I wouldn't wear shorts. I'm not wearing pleated. I think
it's a good place for you to wear, for you
to wear some Lulu slacks.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
I got some Lulu dress pants. Yeah, probably probably wear
my nice pair of Jordan's black on Black Dog. Going
to my cousin's funeral because he's getting married. Next thing,
you know he's gonna have a kid. You know what
we say about them kids. You'll be godfather Brian for
the look for you to be a baby. So and
then also my uh my best friend Josh's wife is
(31:46):
gonna have her baby this weekend.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
They're about to have their daughter.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
So I'm the godfather to his son, Briar and they're
having but you hate them kids.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
They're gonna have their daughter this weekend, rusting, So they
have to have kids that you say, don't you. Yeah. So,
just in case you guys decided to play twister, I
had a special gift delivered to you guys at the
at the crib what what? At the one, I delivered
a couple of Twister games. Show you guys are we'll
we wait for you to get there FedEx. But it
(32:16):
absolutely positively has to be there overnight. Might as well
take a couple of gummies and see what happens. You know,
get after it. Look out, Let's go to break head
yourself to cure a leaf that'll find your.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
Where we're going seven one three two five seven stocks
some astros Next.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 4 (32:38):
Seven one three, two one two five at seven hoty
is the number to join the Star with Bill Bill.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Good morning, Brian.
Speaker 15 (32:44):
You you cut me three times today already?
Speaker 1 (32:47):
Man? Where are you throwing shade on me? What do
we what do we got? Which part Indiana?
Speaker 15 (32:53):
Notre Dame, Irish?
Speaker 5 (32:55):
You cut me three ways?
Speaker 16 (32:56):
Brother?
Speaker 15 (32:58):
I had to add my first guy, never call in
this early, as you say, with my coffee. Listen to
you guys in the seventh, six to seven, and you're
breaking my balls already.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Sorry, man, let's go.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
Okay, that's okay.
Speaker 17 (33:12):
You know what, A and M and Notre Dame is
going to be an interesting game because I think there's
equal amount of pressure on both teams because A and
M's got a lot to prove and Notre Dame, as
you've said accurately, they are kind of a pay in.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
The butt because you just never know what to expect.
Speaker 15 (33:29):
Sometimes they're gonna start a freshman, true freshman at offensive
tackle against A and M. And then you got you know,
Elko's got the connection to Notre Dame and Duke Riley
Leonards quarterback in that team.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
So it should be a fun game.
Speaker 15 (33:44):
But Sean, tell tell this guy, there's there's no two
better sports bars in the country than Corby's are the
linebacker and off campus over there by, Notre Dame on
my line.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Or my die, phenomenal, great place. Shawn's never even been there? Really, yes,
yes he has? Really, yes, yes he has.
Speaker 5 (34:03):
I guarantee yes.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
Yeah. That'd be a fun show to name the top
twenty sports sports bars in college towns in the country. Yeah,
there's some good ones, man, there are some good ones.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
That's okay, man.
Speaker 15 (34:16):
I'm half Irish, Brian. I won't take it personal, but
I mean, you like, whop me up really fast this morning?
Speaker 8 (34:21):
Right now?
Speaker 4 (34:21):
Man, I'm twenty I'm twenty five percent Irish. I'm I'm
I'm Italian Irish man. Okay, are you watching a game
on TV or going to Bill?
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (34:30):
No, I'll watch on TV.
Speaker 11 (34:32):
I don't.
Speaker 18 (34:33):
I can't.
Speaker 19 (34:33):
I don't think I can listen to gigaball day. So
I'm just say, fair enough, fair enough. I appreciate it, Bill,
enjoy your long gray one brother, Thank you you two guys,
take care, appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Seven one three, two one two five seveney Felipe, what's
going on? Good morning the fellas? Hey, Brian, did you
mention the press earlier? Yeah? I love lapressa underrated bro underrated?
Are you from that? Are are you from a Spring area?
Speaker 5 (34:59):
I'm from Spring really. My aunt lives right around the
corner from this.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
Yeah, I grew up in Timberlane, so literally right there
outside of the So we used to go to Carlos
when it was Carlos. Then they went to Tequila Patio
and then one of the two of the guys left
Tequila Patio and open up La Press.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
And the Press is way better than Tequila Patio. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (35:15):
Wait, yeah, my aunt put me on that spot. Man,
all you can eat buffet break. Oh yeah, come a man,
HiT's different.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
Yeah, Man, Spring Sprang Baby, tell him tell tells Sean
about Spring Spring.
Speaker 5 (35:28):
Please.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
You gotta respect, man, gotta respect. Put respect. But I
mean it's pretty much it's it's soft as as Sharman
bathroom when it comes to go into the hardcore place
inside the Spring. I mean, you guys from that man alls,
you guys are pomping circumstance. Man Sprank Sprang.
Speaker 5 (35:50):
Oh, man, I want to get on the brave thing.
Speaker 8 (35:52):
Lately he's just been, you know, whenever he comes in
and it's like it's high leverage. But man, he's your
nerves are are going to be high as well. Ever
since he came in for relief with Bolton to give
him that Grand Slams. You know, it just felt like
even even before then, I was selling my uncle went
to a few games and I was like, man, this
guy is playing with fire lately. They're playing with it
a lot, and he's gonna get burned. And I know
(36:14):
whenever we had nerves before, everybody was saying that too.
He's a magic man. He plays with fire too much,
and I think that's why they didn't want to resign him.
But you know, I mean, we're looking at it with
the brave now, lady. I just felt like we we
just threw him out there all year too many times,
and you know, teams are trying to figure him already
figuring them out. But at the same time, he sort
(36:35):
of reminded me of when we had Will Harrisons went
of nineteen, you know, interest throwing him out there every
other game and come to find out, you know, he
throws him out in.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
The World Series and he boom blows the lead.
Speaker 9 (36:45):
We end up losing it.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
Uh So, man, I mean, he's a good picture.
Speaker 8 (36:49):
They's been going out there losing control and just trying
to blow blow this ball past these guys. But these
are major league hitters, and these are good teams that
he's pitching again, so they're not just gonna get up
there and swing at everything.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
They gotta take pitches and take their time.
Speaker 8 (37:01):
And you know, a brave is being a hit or
miss right now for me exactly. So I feel like
we just need to throw somebody else in there and
give him some time.
Speaker 20 (37:08):
Off for the next few days and throw him in
when his less leverage, just to get his mind right
and you know, let him, let him get a breather,
but you know, not have too many days off the
way he loses touch. I don't know if y'all want
to do with that or you know, on the topic,
but I hang up and listen, guys, you have a
great weekend.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
I appreciate it. It's worth the talking point. It leads
me to believe what's better picture, I said, quarterbacks. I mean,
I know talent. Don't misunderstand me. Talent it's always gonna
trump everything. I get that. But in his position is
a is a setup guy. I'm just wondering, and I
think certain positions in sports and Felipe brings a good point,
and we can talk about when we come back. Let
(37:45):
me tease this is when you're in his role. Is
it confidence that you can get it done or believe
that it was a you know another periphery stuff? Is
confidence more important than in those situations with him? Can
you get by by having confidence and believability in what
(38:06):
you're doing more than you can? Put it this way?
Guy with great stuff, no confidence, guy with confidence, average stuff,
who's getting more people out? I feel like confidence and
average stuff.
Speaker 21 (38:16):
I do too.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
I think I do like the game. And I'm talking
about when you bought it and when you are so
when you believe that your stuff is dynamic, precise, yet
it's not overpowering that it's that it's quite frankly, I'm
not saying a brak. I wn't say anybody is applies
to a brave. He's mental focus. Can a home run
that you gave up a Grand Slam literally turn you
(38:40):
into We've seen it happen with players at the plate.
We've seen it happen with pictures. Turn you into a
can one pitch or one play, one throw actually turn
a guy into being cautious and a little bit and
and and and lose his common but it's one. Yes,
(39:01):
I have the perfect legit hit. Thank you.
Speaker 4 (39:03):
I was gonna say I have the when Brad Lidge,
let's talk about in the seven o'clock hour, because I
think I think that's the perfect example.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
Didn't hit John Rocker and Mark Rawlers. John Rocker went
down real quick after. And I can answer that for me.
If you don't get over something fast and let it faster, dude,
it becomes part of your DNA.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Yeah, so you can share that personal experience of yours.
Let's get in the seven o'clock hour. We'll discuss that
next on sport Stock seven.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
There to usc trus longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
Ryan Lima, go Lobo. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (41:55):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety is
the number to join spork for Robert Robert, Good.
Speaker 1 (42:02):
Morning, morn and gentlemen.
Speaker 22 (42:05):
He uh.
Speaker 5 (42:06):
This one of a couple comments on the ashows.
Speaker 21 (42:08):
First off, glad to see that the recent trade and
waiver acquisitions have made an immediate impact. Kikuchi with complete
games last night, Heyward with a crucial hit, and of
course Gammel. You know I'm making big hits, especially on
that road trip.
Speaker 23 (42:20):
But the listening.
Speaker 21 (42:21):
You also cannot forget a big trade deal before the season.
How about Hater twenty nine straight saves.
Speaker 1 (42:26):
Right, twenty nine in a row. He's been really good.
Speaker 5 (42:30):
So the get the get.
Speaker 21 (42:32):
The team is going in a very right in a
very good direction and a very tough part of the
season too. The last three series have been against high
caliber contenders, so and they're hanging on very well. So
this is uh turning out to be a great And listen,
whenever we get Tucker back, I mean, who's who's gonna say, Hey,
are they for real or not? I think we're gonna
be for real. This is gonna be a really good
(42:52):
September and October. Man, I'm looking forward to it. I mean,
who isn't right?
Speaker 4 (42:57):
Yeah, it's a good point, Robert appreciating enjoy long weekend.
You know, Sean, we were talking last segment about can
one pitch or one play affect you as a player
and let it fester? Well, Brian Bray, you in August
has not been good. ERA of six point five seven.
(43:18):
He has struck out sixteen, walked three, given up twelve
hits in twelve innings, pitched one home run nine earned runs.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
Which has been as about his worst stretch in what
two plus years has to have been his worst stretch correct.
Speaker 4 (43:36):
In July, just looking at this year July one point
nine three, ERA in June two point five to three,
in May two point zero eight two point seven. Yeah,
it's I mean, it's just for this year, this has
been the worst stretch. Maybe running into a little uh,
little little uh what fatigue if you will.
Speaker 1 (43:56):
Maybe possibly he's been so when he's come in, we
just figured it's that he's getting people out right, he's
going to do his job. So it's only it only stands.
It's that at some point in time, you're going to
go through it.
Speaker 21 (44:08):
Now.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
I don't know if that's confidence. I don't know if
that's hit a wall. I don't know if he's tired
or all the above. But I posed the question before
we went to break of, is I is confidence at
that position more important than stuff? And I've seen a
lot of people succeed with average stuff. I'm talking about
(44:29):
any sport that are not that aren't talented, but that
you wouldn't call grade a stuff at what they do
the top shelf stuff, but they find a way to
get it done. But I can tell you this, I've
seen people too that are supremely talented and gifted beyond
belief that the second the confidence goes, they are they're
in the tank.
Speaker 24 (44:50):
Now.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
I don't know if that's a break. I think we
saw it with Presley. I think being moved from the
closer role and to the eighth I'm I've told you
this when it first happened, I say I would feel
I was demoted, even though you're getting paid. See what
people think, oh, you get paid, just do your job.
I get that, I get that. But to me, you
do your job whether you're making a buck or one
(45:11):
hundred million dollars. That's the way you approach it as
an athlete. And it's nice to get paid for what
you do. But I think that the confident and I'm
just saying Pressley felt that way. But I just I
thought I saw a guy who didn't feel like he
could get people out on a regular basis. That's just me. Now,
he may he may have thought differently, And you never
want to tell anybody what I'm losing confidence because then
they see that blood in the water and people hammer
(45:33):
it like a you know, a shark would hammerhead shark.
By the way, see what I did it? Oh yeah nice?
But I just you know, I don't know how you feel.
But I've seen and been a part of no matter
how talented I've been or anybody's been. And I'm just
using when I played that, I went through a stretch
where it was hard for me to get over a
(45:54):
bad play and I realized, come on, sow, that's not
who you are. It's not who you've ever been. And
whatever sparked it, you know what I mean, whatever sparked
me like you, Okay, you yanked the ball on the
ground for a throw, you overthrew a deep ball. Big deal?
Was that early in your career? Now I think it? Well, no, no, no, no,
not early it. You know, after you go through a
few injuries, you start to question yourself. And I blew
(46:14):
out my knee twice then I got in to start rolling.
I think it's probably after a game or where you're
going and you're like that, that's what's happened. I know, this,
Why am I missing that throw? And you'd go into
the next game a little hesitant, thinking, okay, are you
have you done everything you need to do when you
start to quit and I know I was over prepared,
(46:34):
but because that's one thing you could never take away
from me that I'm going to prepare to play, you
know the best I can. But for whatever, you know,
grip the ball a little tighter, you know, throw it
a little harder, squeeze it a little more, a little
more indecisive, and it when you go do do the
research and go back, say when did this happen? When
you got out of it, you say, well, what was
the thing to spark it? And literally it came down
(46:56):
to a game or a decision or a throw. And
then you get back and you go backas, Okay, I
got this, And I can remember when it clicked back on.
I was sitting on the sidelines. We were getting ready
to play quarterback, got hurt. It was early. This is
in the middle of my career and I'm sitting on
the sidelines and I thought I should have been starting.
But it's not out loud. It in my heart right
and in Minnesota and we were doing a game I
(47:18):
came off the bench, and you know, my thought on
the sidelines was, I didn't know it came off because
it got hurt early in a game. My thought was,
I don't really give a rats ass what anybody thinks.
I'm going to let it rip today within what we do,
I mean the coach, and you know what, dude, it
felt like I was floating on a cloud the whole
I don't even remember what happened in the game, player
of the game, all that stuff. It was on a
it was back on TNT. I think Pat Hayden and
(47:38):
maybe Vern Lund quiz might have been called. I don't
even know if it was Vern. But it was a
night game and like a Sunday night game, and I
it was one of those replay out of your mind
and I did not care about the result. I guess
that's it. I was like, I'm enjoying this journey when
that guy's I'm gonna let it rip, And that was
the turning point to get me back into out of
the confidence, out of the lack of confidence mode in
that short two game stint. But I remember when it
(48:00):
hit and it was just simply a player two. And
then I remember when I got out of it. So
I'm wondering in the abrall you case, if it's like okay,
tired and all that, but if a home run here
or you know where you go through and your stuff's
not the same, can your confidence pull you out of
that funk? Give me confidence over stuff any day of
(48:22):
the week.
Speaker 4 (48:22):
Yeah, I think that's that's the big especially for I
know you're talking about your career and being a quarterback,
but guys coming out of the bullpen, it's all confidence
for me. I mean, of course you need the stuff,
but if you're coming in as a setup guy, closer
or whatever.
Speaker 1 (48:34):
Your role is, you gotta have some prick. Oh yeah,
you got to have that.
Speaker 4 (48:38):
I want to say the cliche, you gotta have your
dog in you, but you got to have the fu attitude,
like the you're an ass or even and that.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
Feeling that I can't I can't get anybody out with
this pitch, but I'll get your ass out with this one.
That's how good I am. Yeah. Right, And you know, honestly,
you got to be a dick yeah, and and very
very and the swagger that just oozes right and even
if at times you don't believe that you got to
make sure they think you do right. And when you
lose that, that edge. The edge is what I'm talking about,
(49:06):
because I've seen a lot of guys with stuff who
don't have a lot of confidence, who don't believe in it,
they get hammered. And I've seen the other way where
guy like man, the guy's don't have a great stuff,
But how's he keep getting people up?
Speaker 18 (49:16):
Why?
Speaker 1 (49:17):
Because he believes in what he's doing. And I don't
know if that's a brave use case or what have you,
but I just wonder where the struggle comes from a
little bit, you know.
Speaker 4 (49:25):
One of the examples that came to mind, and we
both said it damn near at the same time, was
the two thousand and five NLCS Game five, Albert pool
Holes hitting the bomb off of brad Lidge. After that
home run, brad Lidge with the Astros was pretty much
never the same. His save percentage in five was ninety
two percent. The next year after that home run, it
(49:46):
dropped down to eighty four percent. He had an ERA
of almost six, and then in two thousand and seven,
his final season with the Astros, his save percentage dip
down to a seventy percent. Mark very next season, he
goes to Philadelphia forty one of forty one, so a
little chains of scenery and he goes back to being
a dominant Lights out Ledge closer.
Speaker 1 (50:08):
And yeah he got cy Young votes as a closer,
no question about it.
Speaker 4 (50:11):
Confidence with the Astros diminishes, percentages go down. He leaves,
goes to Philadelphia Boom forty one of forty one that year. Yeah,
I think, and you know what's what doesn't help if
you have rabbit ears. I'm not saying he does anybody,
but overall is it now with social media, they never
let it go.
Speaker 1 (50:29):
Nope, that'll remind right now, nobody. You know what they
remember more people don't remember Brad Lidge's MVP type yere No,
they remember right, And they never Billy Buckner great career.
All they ever talked about was the groundball through his
legs in eighty six World Series and a guy had
like twenty four to twenty five hundred hits. Yeah. So
(50:50):
point is is they don't let your mind. So you
got to be toughest one hundred year old leather to
get through because not everybody watches everybody's job. All bray,
you everybody's watching your gig every single night. Yep. So
hopefully it gets back because you're gonna need him being
Brian a bray you down stretch. Yeah, and you know what,
that's why you win.
Speaker 4 (51:06):
Got Hectorannarus, a guy that can pitch in some high
leavered situations and give guys like Brian and Bray you
a little bit of rest. Plus you just got Ryan
Pressey back off the il, so he should be rested,
hopefully fully healthy. He looked okay last night. So give
a maybe, give a bray you a couple of days off,
but not too many days off.
Speaker 1 (51:23):
That makes sense. Well, you don't want to lose the
competitive edge. There you go. When we talked about that
a couple of days ago, no doubt, but you but
you do we when we're talking about resting players and stuff,
but you do want to make sure you're fresh. But
it's a clear mind. Get rid of the clutter. And
I think at times athletes, the clutter is what gets
you in a slump, not anything. I mean, you go
through it and sometimes the other guy's better than you
want to pitch or a play, what have you, but
(51:45):
you can't. You can't let it faster, and you gotta
find ways. And that's that mental toughness that great athletes have.
And it doesn't mean you can be a hack talent
and still win. I mean you gotta have you got
to have some skill set. But I believe in my career,
the more I see guys with confidence with us stuff,
they'll find it. It's almost like they will their stuff
to get you out right. It's a trip. It's crazy, man.
(52:07):
You know what they say about mental toughness, it's everything.
Mental toughness is doing the right thing for the team
when it's not the best thing for you. My good
friend Bill Belichick said that, Yeah, shut the show down.
Let's go home. Okay, I see you, good luck, have
a great go home, have a great off season. See
you at the beach. All right, sign my yearbook and
(52:28):
have a bitch in summer.
Speaker 4 (52:29):
Yep, we're gonna go to the Steakout next right here
on the Shawn Salisbury Show.
Speaker 3 (52:34):
Welcome to the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 24 (52:41):
I like you.
Speaker 25 (52:42):
Back to Sean Salisbury and Bryan Ludlima on Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 3 (52:54):
All Right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?
Speaker 25 (52:57):
The Salisbury Steakout three take out on the Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
Show stip for this stake out here on the Sean
Salisbury Show, Sean Brown and Tripoli. Big weekend ahead of
us for college football.
Speaker 4 (53:16):
Astros continuing their series with the Royals, Game two of
that series tonight, seven ten, the first pitch six o'clock
on Deck Show right around seven on your home for
Astros Baseball over at Minute May Park seven three two
five seven ninety Charlie, Good morning, Good morning guys.
Speaker 26 (53:34):
Hey, I just want to say Dana Brown, I think
is doing a great job as GM. He's always looking
ahead with all the injuries to fill in those gaps
with the player that he can obtain for the team
to keep us, keep us in contention and win the division.
I think a Spot is doing a pretty good job
lately of learning on the job. As a first year manager,
(53:57):
he has to juggle his line up constantly, and I
think last night was a good a good idea of
how he put in guys in different position and pinched
hit guys. So I think he's learning on the fly
doing that. I think he's doing a good job. He's
improved a braid you. I think he should be dropped
(54:18):
down from the seventh inning. Let's put in in Naris.
I know what charn I understand what she was saying
about confidence. But we're here to have that parade, Brian.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
We're here to win.
Speaker 26 (54:32):
We want w's and I'm sorry if we hurt somebody's
feelings and had confidence. You know, let the coach talk
to him, let the pitching coach, let him work on
some things, give him a rest, let him overcome this.
Maybe lack of constance hit performance doesn't deserve to be
pitching in the seventh inning.
Speaker 27 (54:51):
And those are my thoughts.
Speaker 1 (54:53):
Thank you, Charlie. Get you ready to eat a dub sough.
The thing I ask for you is, do you Charlie
talking about and we talked about and Roger about giving
him rest. If we're saying screw the confidence, don't be sensitive,
go do your thing, I'm not saying he feels that way,
brave you. I don't know how he feels mentally. We
(55:14):
just watch what we see. But I can tell you this.
Do you say play through it, pitch through it, or
we'll give you rest because we want because you're tired.
I mean, what's the thought process with twenty some games
to go to a pro I know, for me, I
would not want to sit down.
Speaker 4 (55:30):
Would you from a player's perspective, No, I wouldn't. I
wouldn't so I would want to play through it. I
would want to.
Speaker 1 (55:38):
Play What do you let him do this stage? Do
you trust that his stuff is he's shown us enough
to say he'll get through it, or I don't know?
Man boy, we're walking a slippery slope here, and it
said we're treading lightly with Brian and Bravey. I think
the former. Yeah, I don't think in a situation if
it presents itself tomorrow, he'll pay.
Speaker 4 (56:00):
Yes, and I think he should. So I think there's
I don't think it's a slippery slope with him. He's
not had he has not had a good August. I
read the stats earlier.
Speaker 1 (56:09):
They're not good. He's got almost a seventy ra A.
That's proven. But that's not a personal that's a fact. Right.
Speaker 4 (56:15):
It's Brian Bray you were talking about here. Dude's been
nasty with with the Astros in his career.
Speaker 9 (56:19):
Now.
Speaker 4 (56:20):
I think there's also something to be said with the
signing of Hector and airis, maybe throw him into a
high leveraged situation opposed to Brian and Bray. Give him
just for one night, and that's what I was gonna say,
just the night off.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
I'm good with that, but not well two or three.
He's really if we don't see like we've seen this
with none, I mean with Stanic with different regime. I
mean with us, we saw it like four or five, six.
Speaker 5 (56:43):
Ninety.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
It's like, what's going on? So if you if you
can get a guy like Hector naires to go get
you a seventh inning in a high leverage situation, great,
It doesn't mean I'm going to do it three times
in a row. I trust that Brian Bray he is
going to find his way through this. I have no
I other than August, I have nothing to believe that
he's not going to be lights out again before the
(57:05):
season's over. Correct. Yes, I trust body of work. People
go through slumps, but I don't subscribe to Let's give
him five or six. Let's miss four or five starts
so he can not starts, but relief appearances so he
can get his head right. The only way you do
that if he was physically hurt. Other than that, I
(57:26):
understand skipping it one night to give him some mental relief,
But the sooner I can get him to pitch through
the crap, the quicker. I can get him back to
being Brian A bray you. I'm not a big subscription
guy too. Hey, you know what, I don't want to
buy into what the rest of the meetia, what we
all think like social media? Oh got it? And I'm
(57:47):
not saying that people are wrong. They may be very right.
But if you're in the you know, in the arena
with them, the longer I let him sit out of
it or pass up, the more I see. If it
was me, I'd be thinking also, well, if they lost
confidence in me, they don't trust me anymore. I've had
about August. But guess what, my September is going to
be lights out. So the sooner I can get him
(58:07):
out there believing it. Now, if he does it five
and six times in a row, guess what you do?
Then then you gotta have a sit down and say, dude,
do I need you in the sixth inning? Do we
got a movie out of the seventh? But we're not
there yet, not anywhere near that, and I don't think
they are either. So for me, I got to get
him back to being him as soon as possible. But
if one night of a high leverage situation the seventh
(58:29):
inning means I bypass him one night to give him rest,
and then the next night I get him right back
into it. I'm all good. I don't want it to
fester too long though I need I need him himself
to find And you know, there's always more confidence built
in when you fight your way through it as opposed
to somebody else did it for you. That makes sense, Yeah,
that's for me. That's the way I've always approached it.
(58:52):
Get through it without putting your team in constant disarray
if you do it in a seventh inning. And I
don't think Brian Bray used on that over the last
two years. He's had a rough August doesn't mean he
can't have a great September. Yeah, no question about seven
seven ninety. We'll continue to take take your calls on
these Houston Astros. Let's look at the night that Jason
Hayward had during his debut.
Speaker 4 (59:13):
That's next on sports Stock seven eighty, The Sewn Salisbury
Show continued.
Speaker 1 (59:21):
It's always nice when a Thursday night game with the
Astros kicks it off the right way. Sometimes winning ugly
is winning big. Let's get out to the phone lines.
I can't let's see who's the longest ways of Tyler.
Let's get to Tyler, Tyler. Welcome in, man. What's up Patty? Y'all?
Speaker 24 (59:39):
Oh yeah, oh I'm doing great. It's happy Friday.
Speaker 1 (59:44):
Thank you.
Speaker 28 (59:45):
Hey.
Speaker 24 (59:46):
I just uh, I just wanted to stay first. I
really appreciate y'all.
Speaker 21 (59:50):
Uh.
Speaker 24 (59:51):
I'm that guy who drives two hours to work every
day and listen to y'all cut up the whole time.
Speaker 29 (59:59):
It is always that's such a good time.
Speaker 24 (01:00:01):
And thankfully, I don't know how you get anything done
with these two knuckleheads.
Speaker 1 (01:00:06):
That's a hell of a point. He deserves triple to pay.
You ain't lying, brother, he ain't lying. Hazard pay for him, right,
essential worker, right? Absolutely? Well.
Speaker 30 (01:00:19):
Uh, you know, I thought everything was cured after we
lost uh mister Angel, but now I got I got
another umpire on the top of my Sahi t list man.
Speaker 28 (01:00:30):
That was it toasty last night?
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 24 (01:00:34):
Yeah, Oh my gosh, I could.
Speaker 31 (01:00:37):
I could not believe that.
Speaker 24 (01:00:38):
I was sitting there watching this, watching the TV going
what And even Blummer was like, oh, that was not right.
He really he let his emotions get to him or
something like that.
Speaker 28 (01:00:48):
I was just damn, that's it.
Speaker 24 (01:00:52):
Blew my mind. I just wanted to I just wanted
to see what y'all had to say about that too, all.
Speaker 1 (01:00:58):
Right, he let me ask you real quick time. Aren't
you used to it by now? I mean, don't misunderstand.
I think our umpires, for the most referees and umpires
for the most part, do a hell of a job,
a job I wouldn't want. But yeah, it's it's the
blatant miss that's bothersome, not the close when those happen
all the time and you're gonna miss them once in
a while. But when you miss blatant ones, those are
(01:01:21):
the knights that make you think man electronic strikes someon
would be great. Yet I still haven't. I still like
the human error behind home plate. And I know it
affects everybody, but what affects you? We it's hyper sensitive.
So would you prefer I mean, aren't you used to
it by now? Aren't you used to having this feeling
of damn? How'd that umpire miss that? Haven't you seen
it enough?
Speaker 28 (01:01:41):
You know?
Speaker 22 (01:01:42):
Used to it?
Speaker 24 (01:01:43):
Yes, but I haven't accepted it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
Yeah, you never get used to it, agreed. I think
that's a good way to put it, no doubt.
Speaker 30 (01:01:50):
Yeah, I gotta say though, I mean, other than that,
other than that goofy breaking an ejection and that call,
I gotta say his zone was pretty tight. I was,
you know, I don't I don't look into their score
cards all the time, their grade cards very much unless it's.
Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
Just a terr Yeah, you're just watching with the naked eye,
like we all right, no doubt I get you until
then yeah, yeah.
Speaker 24 (01:02:15):
Yeah, other than that, but yeah, that call, that fragment
ejection that he's number one on the list.
Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
Now there you go. Well now you have another one
to dislike. There you go, Tyler, thanks for the compliment, Man,
appreciate you and uh always uh always great to have
you call in and and give us some good insight.
Let's get out to Brandon. Brandon, what's going on, brother?
How are you? Sean's going on?
Speaker 9 (01:02:36):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
All good?
Speaker 5 (01:02:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 32 (01:02:37):
As always, Thank you aways man. Happy Friday too, Man.
A couple of points figure back off the previous caller
there too.
Speaker 9 (01:02:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 32 (01:02:44):
I mean, you know Bregman up there at the strike zone,
he knows the strike zone better than anybody when it
comes down to watch that guy play in college and
the graded bats, he always worked. I mean he sit
there and you know what was it a couple of
years ago. He was high right there on the team,
led the team and walks too as well, you know,
to get on base and and have his opp up
there too the same time. So at umpiring, you never
liked to, you know, you know, just discriminate or bad
(01:03:05):
mouth officials or umpires of referees when it comes to sports,
because I was a coach for a lot of years
and you respect those guys and that You're right, Sean,
that's a job that I would never never want anyway.
I think that you know, getting that tossed early just
because he was saying something on the walk back to
the dugout, it doesn't warrant an injection that early, especially
two teams hot and the pen at a pennant race
right now, that's terrible. As far as Jason Hayward goes,
(01:03:27):
tremendous debut, you can ask for more. Almost a great
catch in right field, two grade at bats, the second
in bat was great. Another point I wanted to bring
up too, Sean, was when they pulled Singer. I think
it was a seventh inning or something like that. Could
have swore they put up a graphic when Poobach came
in the lefty, and I was kind of questioning why
Heyward didn't get that thirty bat because it seemed like
lefties were hitting higher in an average and I was
(01:03:47):
posting overall better numbers against Boobach. I know was coming
off Tommy John, but I was kind of question that too.
As a manager, you always do that too. You gotta
empty your bench. But I was gonna say, if you
want to pinch at anybody in that thing, and that's
a situation right there, Boobish came on. H I didn't
like to do bond situation, but I mean Krotene would
have been a guy or you know, anybody else at
that time. But I kind of thought Heyward should have
(01:04:08):
got that that thirty bat in a critical situation there.
But you know, overall it worked out for him. And
of course, you know, Gamble's been money over the last
six or seven days, and this team now can get healthy,
get Tucker back, and have a nice stretch run there
for the final you know, twenty seven twenty eight games, Shawn,
no question about it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:24):
Great point, Brandon, have a great Labor Day weekend, and
we always appreciate your great insight and stuff and keep
it up in that podcast you got rolling as well.
Boobitch good last Nay, yeah, it really is a good
last name. But you know what, he's one hundred percent
right now. I can tell you this. He mentioned Gamble.
I told you yesterday I don't want the guy out
of the lineup. Nope, I mean he is. He is
(01:04:44):
how you know how that confidence just clicks. It's like
he came back and said, you know what, this is
going to be different from me, and the guy's been
nothing but lights out and Jason Hayward once again, the
new guy shows up impact right away. Yep. But that
the reason you got Jason Hayward here, and I would
have loved to see him get that at Bad as well.
The reason why you got Jason Hayward here is simple,
(01:05:07):
very simple. Why because he's a veteran. It's a pro.
And when I say just because you get paid doesn't
make you a pro, does that mean there's a difference
be being a paid professional and a pro. He's a
pro and a guy who just gets it and fits
in and gives you great versatility and gives you great bandwidth,
but also is a still a good player. I loved it,
(01:05:30):
and it's great to have him here. He's gonna add
some real good outfield depth for this team in the
last twenty plus games and in the postseason.
Speaker 4 (01:05:37):
Yeah, I think with him coming over here, fresh clubhouse
team that's fighting for the division, going out to win
every night, I think it'll be good for him the
Dodgers and then coming over here.
Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
I mean, I just don't know how. Hell, I don't
care if you stick him up on in the train.
Gambile can't come out of the lineup. No, Ben Gamon's
got a play. Yeah, I don't care where he plays. Yeah,
I don't care if he's hitting from up there field
where when people get healthy, find a place to play him. Yeah,
the dude can't. His bat's too too valuable right now.
And he's like, I got to tell you, that's the
Ben Foster of baseball.
Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
Yeah, you can't take him out. I agree, you can't
take him out of the line. It looks like him, Yeah,
he does look like him. Seven Daryl, what's happening.
Speaker 29 (01:06:13):
Hey, guys, good morning.
Speaker 1 (01:06:14):
That's Triple B again. Triple Yeah.
Speaker 29 (01:06:18):
Man going to work driving full will, driving off some
of these roads over here in clear Lake.
Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
Man, that's pretty crazy.
Speaker 29 (01:06:26):
But I yesterday I called in about that event, that
tailgating event that's going on at A and M and
Notre Dame with Kennis putting it on and Joe Montana
might be there and all that you know, I found
the actual uh news is my it's my brother's girlfriend
that's the event planner for it. And I got confirmation
(01:06:48):
Joe Montana is not going to be there. And I'm
saying that not just for y'all, but also for the
listeners who heard me say that yesterday that he probably
would be there.
Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
You know, he's not going to make a damn it, Sean,
we can't go now. All of a sudden means that's
what I mean. And then all of a sudden means
Notre Dame is getting beat. Yeah right, damn right. We
appreciate that update, Triple D. Yeah, guys, appreciate enjoy thanks Bud. Yeah,
(01:07:20):
I mean A and M. Yeah, that's upset in the making.
Now Joe Montana's not showing up for the games party.
Screw them, it's over done. Yeah, a lot of respect
for Notre Dame, man, but what a what a great
place to to visit and go play football and just
if you don't go. You got to go to a
Notre Dame game, whether he went there or not. Yeah,
But you know, man, this A and M. A and
(01:07:41):
M don't care about Notre Dame's history.
Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
My weekend, my one bitch about Notre Dames. That got
rid of that big, beautiful natural grass and they went turf.
Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
Yeah, and they when I played there was all grass
and they let it, let it grow up to your
ankles because they were never a lot of team speed.
They were plotters, and they always wanted to slow your
ass down with high grass so you could play it.
Their type of plotting, you know, smash in the face,
control the football, run it. It's been Notre Dame. But man,
(01:08:10):
what a history. Like I said, if you're at A
and M, you got history too.
Speaker 9 (01:08:15):
May not be that.
Speaker 1 (01:08:16):
I mean, Notre Dame's most story program in college football,
but guess what, when they walk into your campus, it's different.
It's twenty twenty four. It's a good punch to the face.
If you're A and M. That's got to be your
thought process. Damn history, right, screw it, yeah, forget it
and let's go. But they're well coached. Both teams are,
and you know, I think it. I think that maybe
this is the year Notre Dame gets to another level.
(01:08:36):
The question is, you know, and they keep having that
new quarterback, I feel you gig them, you know of
a senior or a junior transfer, somebody who's been there.
And Riley Leonard now, so I always like to get
good teams early because once they settle in and figure
out their weaknesses and strengths, you're in trouble. And that
(01:08:57):
goes for the Alabamas and Georgia. I'd rather play Georgia
if I'm Clemson now, yep, this weekend, then I would
in week six when they figure it out. Right now,
the only thing coming from that is CLEMPS. If I'm Georgia,
I'm still pissed. Yeah, because for my money, they were
the best team in college football. Last year. They were
but wrong lost wrong time. Florida State felt some a
(01:09:20):
wrath of that afterwards, and they spent this whole offseason.
I guarantee Kirby smart grinding on them that way. Look
we should we didn't and that one law. That's not
happening to our team this year. I guarantee it. But
if you want them, if you're Clemson, better now than
in week six when they figure it out right and
they start kicking everybody's ass. Yeah, there's no question them
now because a mistake here, trying to overcome a training camp,
(01:09:41):
a little tired, whatever it is, and may be over
enthusiastic about me. I always like getting good teams early,
especially if you're a pretty good team too. Clempson is
pretty good, A and M's pretty good. So you want
those guys now because see if they can overcome their mistakes,
and see if they won't.
Speaker 4 (01:09:54):
Give you a gift on while they're on the road.
Sinety is the number to join. We'll get to all
all of you callers next. Continue to talk astros, and

the Notre Dame Irish the fighting Irish, So fight Naggies,
fight and Irish.
Speaker 1 (01:10:22):
Give me the Aggies.
Speaker 4 (01:10:23):
Yaggies are actually favored by three points, so you know
what I'm gonna take them out right, give me the
money line. I'm taking Texas A and M to win
that game. New regime with their new head coach and
Notre Dame to my in my opinion, they are overrated
every single season. And when I'm watching that Texas A
and M and Notre Dame game, I'm gonna be knocking

Hey, it's Bob's Valde's day. It is Valdez Day. How
do you think they're gonna do?
Speaker 10 (01:12:31):
I already did it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:33):
You already won on your game.
Speaker 15 (01:12:36):
Yes, I did.
Speaker 4 (01:12:37):
Do you ever lose Brandon? No, you plan on You're
playing on beginner mode, aren't you.
Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
No, I just play on the side.
Speaker 4 (01:12:46):
No, I know, but the beginner like the rookie mode.
You know there's a rookie you're playing on rookie mode.
Speaker 11 (01:12:52):
No, I was playing.
Speaker 16 (01:12:53):
I was on Yan playing it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:55):
So yeah, okay, it's seth lugo for the Royals tonight.
By the way. Oh wow, okay, enjoy the weekend, Brandon.
We'll talk to you on Tuesday. We're off Monday.
Speaker 4 (01:13:07):
Yeah, thanks, Brandon, Let's keep it Rolling's talk to Brad
brag Good morning.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Hey, what's up guys? Real quick?
Speaker 23 (01:13:14):
Three high points?
Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
Stop talking about the umpires.
Speaker 29 (01:13:17):
I'll put my check on it, and he's going to
be ninety three ninety five accuracy.
Speaker 1 (01:13:21):
I don't want to go there. We've done here. We
beat that bush completely agree. But Brad, it's a hard job,
isn't it. I mean it is. And well we take
one miss on forty pitches and make it a big deal.
I mean, and I know he may miss some, but
I'll tell you what, that's a job none of us want.
You got to tell you that. Real popular in the
umpire community. Huh. I'm not popular in the umpire community.
(01:13:41):
They're not above criticism, but I also know that they're
usually right more often than they're not. Sean, I will
talk to you one day off the radio what I
used to do back in the day. Number two, Uh,
I gotta throw it in there.
Speaker 11 (01:13:54):
Did I get him?
Speaker 9 (01:13:55):
All right?
Speaker 5 (01:13:55):
But anyway, go back?
Speaker 1 (01:13:56):
Here we go, Here we go, smoke him? Did I smoke.
Speaker 13 (01:14:03):
Out again?
Speaker 1 (01:14:03):
Is he down?
Speaker 8 (01:14:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:14:06):
I'm what four hundred of them is.
Speaker 1 (01:14:09):
Damn. That's what I was gonna say. Back to what
I was gonna say.
Speaker 5 (01:14:12):
I like the Hayward move perfect.
Speaker 33 (01:14:14):
I wouldn't put him up there with you know, the
Michael Brantley as a professional hitter.
Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
But he's gonna come into the clubhouse.
Speaker 34 (01:14:21):
He's not gonna make waves, and he's possibly going to
get a ring.
Speaker 1 (01:14:24):
That's awesome.
Speaker 15 (01:14:25):
Number three, it's not it's no longer Catholics versus the
cons My understanding gets Catholic Catholics versus the cultist.
Speaker 35 (01:14:32):
I'll hang up and listen.
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
Let's rock and roll.
Speaker 4 (01:14:35):
Let's rock and roll, Brad. Let's go play football time
in Houston.
Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
Brat listen. And I don't think that there's you were
You're allowed to criticize on piatey time you want, You're
allowed to do any damn thing you want. But I
just think what happens is and what heightens it is
when Bregman, who's a got a great eye, strikes out,
it gets ejected, right, and you know that he's pretty
damn good at the strike zone and hides if he
(01:15:01):
doesn't get ejected, well it was missed a call. But
we go on and on and on, right. Yeah, It's
just it's a I don't know, man, I don't know
many jobs that you're right ninety eight percent of the time.
Speaker 4 (01:15:11):
Yeah, I'm talking about in sports with with the umpire
situation last night. Okay, you're gonna miss a call. Bregman's upset,
but to toss him that quick.
Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
Say, that's my only My issue is not it's not
the balls and strikes, No, it's my issue was the
quick cook. Yeah, yeah, let's see, I mean the heave
ho too early, real quick cook. That's when you come
out and get a picture off the mountain. The quick
the quick you know, heave ho in. Yeah, I gotta
have a little more patience with that. Yeah, yeah, agreed.
I mean dude, he didn't even like there was no
there was no argument, there was nothing. Bregman walked by,
(01:15:41):
obviously said something to him, and I mean he hooked
him cold. I'm well, if it was a personal a
personal cause, if they say something that they don't have
patience for, like if you make it personal towards the empire, right,
they'll they'll heave you quickly. I don't think, but I
think you go, and now you got to stand your ground.
As an umpire, they'll will bully you to death. Player,
they will managers and players, and the other is true.
(01:16:01):
You can't be a bully as an umpire and think
that they came here to watch you. We didn't come
here to watch the empire. It's not the umpshow right
we came here. You got to do right and defend yourself.
But I think you have to have a little more
latitude with a guy, unless, of course, he said something
so derogatory that if it was reversed that the player
would have wanted to fight the up right. I just
don't see Bregman doing that.
Speaker 4 (01:16:19):
It was probably something like that's effing horrible, or that's
not a strike, something about the zone.
Speaker 1 (01:16:24):
He's a veteran. Well, those guys get more leeway. I
would think that they should. But the truth of the
matter is, at this point in time in the thirty
you got to stretch your patience a little as an
umpire quick man, no doubt. What keifo Sheena, good morning,
good morning.
Speaker 10 (01:16:40):
Yeah, so good great game last night. Loved to see
that they were able to come back and didn't have a.
Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
One run game loss.
Speaker 10 (01:16:49):
I agree with you all on the you know, the umpire.
My issue was Bregman getting tossed so quickly, you know,
very snowflake of an empire. They talked about after the game.
It seemed like Meregman said something just about, you know, terrible,
terrible call, so it didn't seem like something crazy derogatory.
Speaker 6 (01:17:07):
One thing that I want to ask all's.
Speaker 10 (01:17:08):
Opinion on is, you know, when balls hit to Penya
in the field, do you all just start.
Speaker 22 (01:17:14):
Holding your breath.
Speaker 10 (01:17:14):
Now, he's had five airs in the last ten games.
He's up to seventeen airs this season. You know, these
are costly airs he's really making, and I hate to
see this continue through the postseason. He's got more airs
than Bregman and al two they combined.
Speaker 3 (01:17:30):
So just want to get your thoughts on that.
Speaker 10 (01:17:33):
Otherwise, you know, Happy Friday, looking forward to a long weekend.
Speaker 6 (01:17:38):
So looking forward to the rest of this series.
Speaker 10 (01:17:40):
I'll be able to go to the game on Sunday,
so looking forward to that.
Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
Awesome enjoy and enjoy your Labor Day. It's a great
college football and baseball series. And I think she is
one hundred percent correct here. I'm going to say something
that you may not agree with, but I don't care
me anybody. Okay, the abraiion, the Jose stuff. First part
of the season. Huh weakness right, yep? First base weakness
(01:18:05):
all year long for them. I mean when I say weakness,
not not not what you want, right Singleton, I mean
they've done it. It was a weakness, It's right, right,
Can I say weakness? But Singleton, considering the work he's
got jumped in and has done a nice shot, but
it's still they still first base is We don't know
who the first base in the future is if he's
on the roster. Guess who it's not? We already right future.
I'm talking about correct, that nine PS guy that Dana
(01:18:28):
Brown wants. The biggest weakness right now on this team
is Painya's glove? Seventeen airs, Dude, five, as we've overlooked
something you want to talk about confidence of a reliever.
It's almost as if it's like, dude, what happened to
your glove? Because he's been really good. He was a
gold glover. Yeah, that's my point. So right, I'm not
(01:18:51):
saying it's a weakness it can't be fixed. I'm just
telling you right now, and it's been a sneaky one
until it's reared its head with what five, like you
said in the last ten games, seventeen airs at shortstop
for a guy who's pretty damn sure handed and has
a good arm and has played really good defensive baseball.
You go around and tell me, Okay, runners in scoring
position at times has been a weakness this year. Right,
(01:19:12):
we know the first base situation, injuries, but I'm going
to tell you this is an alarming trend right now
that he has got to fix, got to fix because
right now she is one hundred percent correct groundball there
you're like, ugh, get to it or what's gonna happen?
(01:19:33):
You just you're not fling And I know all he's
paying you. He's a great player. Fine, he's not above criticism.
His glove has been atrocious recently. Yeah, and seventeen airs
is unacceptable for a guy that good man.
Speaker 4 (01:19:45):
He has a ninety sixty seven fielding percentage this season.
Seventeen airs out of your goal glove, shortstop, that's not
what you need.
Speaker 1 (01:19:57):
So well, when we're talking about everything about guys lack
of hit or decisions that are made, you can go
as far as the most glaring weakness right now, and
it's glaring is his defensive performance, which is not like him.
I think that's why it's so shocking. Correct you, You
hold your breath when the ball is hit towards him,
definitely here lately, and that has not been the case
(01:20:20):
since he's come up. No, that hasn't. He'll get it fixed,
but man, you know what it reminds me of He
went through that at the play where dude layoff non
competitive strikes outside of the strike zoned last year, right,
Chase and chase and chasing. Now he's going through. I mean,
he's got better this year. He's been far better at it.
I don't know if the analytics say, but he's been
far better at it. We'll talk more about it, but
(01:20:40):
I'm just telling you that glove, that the ability to
defend at shortstop right now, he has got to be better. Yeah,
it has to be better. Today.
Speaker 4 (01:20:48):
Got some sad news coming out of the NHL. Will
also get to some college football talk. That's next on
Sports Stark seven.

Speaker 3 (01:21:17):
Salisbury, Oby Salsbury, Houston.
Speaker 1 (01:21:23):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (01:21:24):
Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (01:21:28):
To usc Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (01:21:30):
Ryan Lima, Go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (01:21:38):
I mean just just tragedy struck last night for the
Columbus Blue Jackets, and it was Blue Jackets winger Johnny
Goudreau dying at the age of thirty one. His brother
Matthew as well, passing away at the age of twenty nine.
They were both struck by a vehicle where riding their
(01:22:00):
bikes around eight to fifteen last night. The driver of
a jeep Grand Cherokee hit the Gudros from behind while
trying to pass an suv on the right that had
moved over to make way for the two bicyclists, which
were the Goudreaus. That driver is suspected of being under
the influence of alcohol and has been charged with two
counts of death by opt by auto.
Speaker 1 (01:22:18):
This happened in Old Men's Township, New Jersey. Well, and
they were days away from there. They're both groomsmen in
sister's wedding just days away. Terrible man, if I'm not mistaken,
and it's awful. I think he's thirty one years old,
he and his brother. Will you go out on it,
(01:22:39):
just ascemb You're just biking around and all of a
sudden somebody comes hitching from behind. You never see it coming.
Come on now, well, how awful, how awful. So to
friends and family wake up to that, but they obviously
went to bed with that. This happened to what yesterday? Right, yeah,
last night at officially eight nineteen pm. That's it just
(01:22:59):
gives me a sick stomach. Sick stomach. And what can
you say? I mean, there's nothing you can tell the family. Hey,
hang in there, right, what do you what do you say?
Speaker 9 (01:23:09):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:23:10):
Somehow find in peace and comfort and understanding. I don't
know how you.
Speaker 4 (01:23:12):
I don't know how you do it parents barrying children?
You no, yeah, yeah, there they were scheduled to be
in there, and.
Speaker 1 (01:23:23):
I think, is it a sister in law? Maybe the
Jonathan's wife is supposed to be the maid of honor.
I mean, you're supposed to be the best time of
this their sister's life. And the reminder she has now
is that both her brothers were killed in a in
(01:23:43):
a biking accident, that they just were riding bikes and
get it from behind. How awful?
Speaker 28 (01:23:49):
What what?
Speaker 1 (01:23:50):
What a what a crappy way to go into a
weekend Labor Day weekend will never be the same for
that family ever. Matter of fact, You're like, I don't
even want to see this part of the year. How
do you how do you don't know if you're the family,
how do you even go on with the wedding? Like,
if you're Katie the sister, how do you even do that? Well?
I imagine she probably you would think there's a delay
or I don't know how you do because you're in
(01:24:11):
such mourning. How can you people go up there and
you're throwing bouquets around and being excited. I would imagine
that that's going to be delayed. You can't let it
get in the You know, to some point in time
you're going to marry the man and woman you love, right,
but at this point in time, the wedding can probably wait.
And their morning. What a horrible, horrible way to head
(01:24:33):
into this weekend. And like I said, the rest of
their life. Your parents, the parents of those kids are
not supposed to bury their kid. Man call a damn uber,
you know what I mean? Calling the driver. You mean
suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. Well, here's
and they grab their keys and they're drunk. They don't
think anything about calling anybody. The ego gets bigger and
the you think, oh, I can get through there's no problem.
(01:24:53):
I don't want to waste her time of doing it,
and I'm thinking of their thought process. Don't be an idiot.
It's just we got to have harsher penalties for that.
Whatever the harsh penalty is, it needs to be harsher.
If they do it right, he'll never see the light
of day again. Johnny Goudreau is thirty one and his
brother Matthew Gudrow twenty nine. And here's what you hear.
Now I know they didn't. And here here's another thing.
(01:25:14):
It's always baffled me. Involuntary manslaughter. You know, somebody get
you hear the involuntary when somebody there was that wasn't involuntary, right,
that was they made that decision. Good, damn right they did.
You damn right they did. Now, once your your ten
drinks deep, you don't know what the hell you're doing.
Hopefully you have a buddy next to her says, dude,
you not doing this. But to do that and nothing
(01:25:36):
involuntary about that's a that's a conscious decision to do
that and keep the keys in your pocket. What a
horrible day. But you know what, no explanation will ever
be good enough for their family. No, And I bet
you he came away Scott free went injury wise yep, sick,
just sick. Terrible news, just awful news. Sure the Blue
Jackets Johnny Gudreau and his brother Matthew Gudrow dead at
(01:25:59):
the edge of the Aready one in twenty nine.
Speaker 4 (01:26:00):
Just awful, just terrible news. Seven seven ninety stuck with
Gilbert Gilbert, Good morning.
Speaker 13 (01:26:07):
Hey, how's it going guys man?
Speaker 5 (01:26:10):
That's really sad.
Speaker 13 (01:26:10):
What happened to those guys. Man, it's really crazy. And yeah,
you're right, it's not involuntary. That got you what he's
doing when he got in the car.
Speaker 31 (01:26:19):
Yeah, yeah, that happened to a phantomine food man and
he used to be a record driver in Houston, a
record on forty five and going to okay, this is
for fifteen and the guy.
Speaker 35 (01:26:30):
Was drunk and he ended up kidding me.
Speaker 4 (01:26:35):
Anyway, eighty between both of them, Hey, Triple, can you
tell him that we can barely hear him.
Speaker 1 (01:26:41):
It sounds like he's on the job side. Let's go
to Carl. Carl, good morning, Hell y'all doing today.
Speaker 13 (01:26:47):
Bull's bad news. But anyway, Uh, I'm in agreement with
uh kind of what CHL said yesterday. She won't know
model's opinion. Our pictures are doing great. It was a
great game, man. I can't believe how we pulled that off.
Speaker 23 (01:27:03):
It was beautiful.
Speaker 13 (01:27:05):
But here's my problem. Verlander is out. I'm not trying
to be rude here, but I think he's looking out
for number one. It's the team saying okay, he's not productive.
And he said it was a one pitch steel there
and there wasn't a one pitch problem. He had a
lot of problems at night. Another thing, Pressley's just not ready.
(01:27:25):
Our other pitchers are doing it. They're winning. They stick
to what the game plan is. It's about the Astros.
It's not about Verlander, it's not about Prosley. It's about
the Astros. So that's all I got to say. And
go Astros.
Speaker 1 (01:27:42):
Thank you guys, Thank you, Carl.
Speaker 4 (01:27:45):
I mean, personally, Sean, I don't think Justin Verlander was
looking out for just for number one. It was only
a second start, being back after missing quite a bit
of time. Ryan Presley, fresh off the Eel, had a
cleaning last night.
Speaker 5 (01:27:54):
Yeah he did.
Speaker 1 (01:27:56):
And I personally, here's what I think. I think that
Justin Verlander wants to win a World Series. I think
to just I get people's opinion from a distance. I
think he wants to do what's best for the team,
but in the process of it, would like to attain
a goal. And I don't know if that's wrong. No,
that's what I'm saying, So that's not That's my point
is that you can still chase your personal goal while
(01:28:17):
also being a team guy. Closed out to they want
three thousand, hell as long as it takes to get it. Yes,
here right, Yeah, So I don't think that's a negative. Now,
if you're hurting your sixty percent and you lied to
and they have oh I'm good man to keep me on,
and you're putting your team in a bad way because
your yourself you want to get to six innings because
you just can't, that's an extra win, right, if you
(01:28:38):
can pull off the win a different story, that's right,
But that's not him. I don't think. I don't think so.
I think that justin ver Leonard has at this age,
especially understands the how precious every single especially for a
guy who's been hurt, how precious every start is yea,
and how the World Series and what it means. But
in the process of doing that, you can have the
(01:28:58):
umbrella over team and the abc D category underneath that
is get the three hundred wins. I don't think. Matter
of fact, I actually believe that athletes to thrive, to strive,
and thrive set that set their goals. Yeah, and and
quite frankly, when you start out in pitching, three hundred
wins is a goal you say, okay, great, set it,
But dude, you know what the proble You know the
(01:29:20):
journey you're going to take to get there, and he's
sitting on the doorstep. Yeah, so I get it. As
long as it doesn't that doesn't trump the team stuff.
I don't think it does with Verlander. I think Verlander
understands a big picture.
Speaker 4 (01:29:32):
It's like in the NFL when wide receivers tight ends
have the receptions bonus, Like I know, Tom Brady got
Rob Gronkowski like a literally it was like a four
yard catch in the flat so he could get that
bonus money. And they were, I want to say they were.
It's like a tight game and when he had to
make sure that his tight end got the bonus. And
(01:29:52):
I don't think that's a selfish thing. As a quarterback,
I'd do it as often as I could, But I
mean as a selfish for Rob Gronkowski be like, hey, Tom,
I need one more catch.
Speaker 7 (01:30:00):
Dog.
Speaker 1 (01:30:00):
I got five hundred grand riding on this. And if
we're up thirty and it's the last game of the
season and there's a half a million or a million
bucks riding on it, the other team's just gonna have
to deal with it. Yeah, I'm throwing him a five
yard hit, roup, Yeah, get your money. The dog one right,
because you know what, they'd all do the same thing exactly,
so I don't I'll do the same thing. Yeah, I
don't think justin Verlanders looking out for number one. I
(01:30:21):
think there's a part thinks I think you have to
look out for number one, But I don't think number one.
I think one in team. I think he'd sacrificed for
the team phrase. Somebody said, dude, in the postseason, we
got to put you in the bullpen.
Speaker 5 (01:30:33):
We just do.
Speaker 1 (01:30:33):
I think he'd piss him off. I don't know if
they'd have the guts to do it. I'm talking about
if if he struggled through there. But I think he'd
do it. Does that make sense? Yeah, I think he
may fight you, but i'd want to. I wouldn't want
him to be happy with that. But I think I
think it's team in Verlander. I think they're close. But
all great athletes. Who you know who the most selfish
athlete on the planet was for a long time, Tiger Woods.
(01:30:55):
Oh yeah, why Michael Jordan? Why? Now? One's an individual
sport ones, But because if you're taking care of your business,
you're giving your team better chance to win. Yeah, And
whether it's Ryder Cup or Tiger Woods. I mean, you
got to be single. It's at times they see down
one way Street right in their preparay. Jordan a team guy.
But if Jordan wasn't his best, Chicago would go to
(01:31:15):
be at their best. So and and at times you
got to be selfish, not with the team, but with
your time. To be great, you got to be selfish,
I hate to say it. To be great at anything,
you've got to devote more time to being a little
more selfish than you normally want to be. But if
Verlander's good, guess what that means. The Astros are gonna
be good and he'll get closer to three hundred. And
it's okay to do both. So win win. That's exactly right.
Speaker 4 (01:31:36):
It's continue to roll along here on The Shawn Salisbury
Show seven three, two five seven, Hine, who gets all
you callers?
Speaker 13 (01:31:42):
Next?
Speaker 1 (01:31:42):
On Sports TX seven.
Speaker 3 (01:31:43):
Ninety Let the celebration start war Sewn Salisbury. It's a
Seawan Salisbury show.
Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
All the l s U punks in our building are like, yeah, Triple,
you're replaced.
Speaker 11 (01:32:19):
Dog.
Speaker 1 (01:32:19):
You didn't you didn't play USC prior done. Okay, give
me your excuse. I'm gonna hold, okay, give me something
that I could say. Okay, now I'm cutting in some slack.
Speaker 6 (01:32:29):
I was trying to save you for the best hour
of the show.
Speaker 1 (01:32:32):
Every hour is the best hour you You so the
L s U.
Speaker 15 (01:32:37):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (01:32:37):
Yes, we're gonna to find the soul Raw State Fight
song here soon.
Speaker 11 (01:32:42):
L s U.
Speaker 4 (01:32:42):
Don't gidding, you know, I lovely I do. I tell
you alumni in this building, screw them. They're probably horny
as hell.
Speaker 1 (01:32:49):
Tell them bricked up, because yeah, Dan Matthews is a
Georgia guy. It's like you damn too. There's like five
spitting everywhere.
Speaker 4 (01:33:01):
There's like five guys over on our on our sales side,
that L s U guys, our esteemed head of iHeart
Houston is an L s U guy. I mean Chris
Gordy RPD here is an L s U guy. You
can also hear him with stand Northfleet at ten a m.
Next up, I'm gonna put him in a freezer a lot.
They're probably just but I do love.
Speaker 6 (01:33:25):
The tiger the theme song, what do we call it?
Fight Fight? Screw L s U.
Speaker 1 (01:33:33):
No, I'm kidding.
Speaker 34 (01:33:34):
I g e a U X go.
Speaker 6 (01:33:38):
Hey, somebody give me some gum Hey.
Speaker 1 (01:33:39):
Hey, U L s U. Hey, hey, Gordy, what do
you think about uh L s U? The L s
U fights? What about you, Eddie? What about? I mean
you go through the list, it's like Paul.
Speaker 4 (01:33:52):
Who else is an L s U. It's like everybody,
every Tom, Dick and Harry. You know, I think I
think we got some salespeople as well. Yes, we're loaded.
I mean the L s U here is the equivalent
of like Syracuse. When I was at ESPN, there's like
eight million of them.
Speaker 6 (01:34:08):
We got the red beans.
Speaker 1 (01:34:10):
I can't wait. Anybody wants some gumbo over tailgating, Well,
SC's eating like a burger from Tommy's Burger. Oh, we're
in Vegas, so let's go to a breakfast buffet for
ninety nine cents. Oh that's right, COVID canceled those two. Yeah, okay, true?
What are shut down buffets because of that? Hey, but
(01:34:32):
I can't wait to ho Oh you didn't thin they
should shut down? But face no, actually didn't shout, actually
breathe all over it. And I'll still eat the dog
on corn, beef and hash for breakfast. Here's the deal.
We do love our L s U. I do you
know how I feel I got some good feelings about L.
Speaker 9 (01:34:47):
S U.
Speaker 1 (01:34:47):
Right, always have, Yeah, And I think it's going to
be a tough task for my Trojans as well. No
dog in the hunt, but I have a division, you know.
But he tripley came up with the excuse, I'll save
for the best hour of the and you hit it.
Every hour is the best out. Damn right he put LSU,
didn't they He still left Notre Dame in Southern cal out.
I'm sorry, guys, Okay, whose fight songs better? Notre Dame
(01:35:10):
in sc or Texas, A and M and L s U.
I mean, let's be real, put those two fights off together,
state the victors. I mean, really, in the when it
really gets into it, it's hard to beat these three
fight songs. I don't even know SC, Michigan, Notre Dame,
(01:35:31):
although I do like A. M's and I did LS
He's pretty cool too. But Michigan's and Notre Dames might
be at the top of the list, right, might be
at the top of the list, right, Notre Dame or Michigan.
I think Michigan's and Spring High Schools is the same
fight song spring Spray Spring, Hey, We're only kids. But
we're not kidding there. Our building is loaded with purple
(01:35:51):
and would they call it gold or yellow? What do
what do they call those colors? Whatever? You don't look,
but it's uh, we have a lot a ton of
workers here that are l s U grads. So that's awesome.
Bat is a great place, man, and my guy Matt,
I'll be on with him today trying to Matt Mascona, Yeah,
Matt later today, trying to figure out if my Trojans
(01:36:13):
can handle that LSU physicality. And we'll see an LSU's defense,
how they can d up and USC's defense, how they
can stop new quarterback, both teams with new quarterbacks. So
having a good but would you say, but fight songs
will get you. Fight songs will get in your in
your soul, won't they that ain't in fight song? Hit me?
(01:36:35):
And now Notre Dame when they we bust Notre Dames? Honestly, like, okay,
that's the fighting Irish and Michigan's it's just, uh, fight
songs will get you, man, And yeah, my Trojan's got
a tough task with those Tigers. Great Tiger fans. Do
you ever been to a night game at Tiger stadium
a l s U. For this is in Vegas obviously,
where the Raiders play. But if you ever and you
talked about Notre Dame going to a game, you got
(01:36:56):
to go to a game at South Bend. You just
have to if you don't go to what I would
consider the most brutal place to play normally is a
night game at LSU. Yeah, harsh death balls and oh
it's brutal. Yeah. Now Penn State's got their white out,
which is great. Hell, listen, tied they all when you
get down here in the South, there's some great ones.
But Oregon's a great place. Washington heck my home. The
(01:37:17):
truth is the atmosphere at the coliseum is not near
as if it was played in LA because old school bigger.
It's not near. Now they've done a better job with
sweets and stuff, but it's so old school. It's not
near the LSU or Georgia between the hedges or A
and M at Kyle Field feel right. So maybe it's
a good thing we're playing them at a neutral site,
(01:37:40):
Lost Florida, no question about it. I've played there and
it is it can be miserable when that team's good
and going right.
Speaker 4 (01:37:46):
Yeah, that's that places is pretty insane as well, especially
when they're when they're no doubt about it's go back
out to the phone lines.
Speaker 1 (01:37:52):
Talk to Sam.
Speaker 3 (01:37:53):
Sam, good morning, Hey Brian, this is popa p You
know where I am.
Speaker 4 (01:37:59):
Yeah, Papa p your your son. I'm gonna be the
best man in your son's wedding.
Speaker 5 (01:38:04):
You're exactly right, Sam.
Speaker 1 (01:38:06):
What's happening man about? Yeah, I'm a listener in the morning.
Speaker 21 (01:38:11):
You said don't call, but I heard you talking about
bachelor party?
Speaker 1 (01:38:14):
Uh huh?
Speaker 21 (01:38:14):
You going to is that DB's.
Speaker 4 (01:38:16):
Uh No, DB's was in March and Cabo Uh, justin
March this past this past Yeah, this past March. I'm
going to my cousin's bachelor party this weekend and then
uh and then in October I'm going to Justin Doltsch's
over in Scottsdale as well, and then and nestled in
between that, we're going to Sam's over in Lake Charles.
Speaker 8 (01:38:37):
Yes, that's what I hear.
Speaker 1 (01:38:38):
Yeah, so well, good man.
Speaker 24 (01:38:41):
I tell you guys, there's an Ohio state fight.
Speaker 3 (01:38:44):
So that's pretty good.
Speaker 25 (01:38:45):
Damn right there.
Speaker 1 (01:38:48):
Not that I too. Yeah, Papa Pee is a massive
Ohio state guy. Oh good, and they got their best
team in the last decade. They could win the whole
thing this year. They're gonna figure it out this year.
Speaker 24 (01:38:56):
Sam, hopefully, So hopefully they can.
Speaker 1 (01:39:00):
If not, Ryan David is going to get the boot.
I believe so.
Speaker 23 (01:39:04):
I mean, if he can't do it now, he's not
gonna do it and.
Speaker 1 (01:39:07):
They'll just bring back Urban Meyer. Oh sorry about that. Yeah, well,
appreciate you calling Papa Pete. Thank you man.
Speaker 13 (01:39:14):
Yeah, Hey, I'll see you next week.
Speaker 1 (01:39:16):
Yeah, we'll see you. Talk to you. Thank you, Sam, Sam.
That's that's the guy who's getting married pops. Yeah, okay,
So why is he going to the bachelor party?
Speaker 26 (01:39:23):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:39:23):
Not this weekend. Oh, this is the newest the next
Remember I told you I'm in three, we four weddings
in the next four months, five months. It's one of them.
Speaker 4 (01:39:30):
The best man his son is Uh, I'm gonna be
the best man in his son's wedding.
Speaker 1 (01:39:34):
Oh cool, Yeah, Now are you are you in? That's cool?
That's cool. You sound like a good man.
Speaker 28 (01:39:39):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (01:39:39):
Are you is this? Are you in this wedding or
just to just go into the one coming up? Yeah? No,
I'm not in this wedding. But it's my cousin. Oh,
that's right, this one, because I can't keep up with you.
You're like, you're like a woman right now. With all
the weddings they go to, you know and like and
what what's the what do they call when they're prep No,
(01:40:00):
they when they have the you get the gifts from
all the ladies come to the party with a wedding shower.
The shower shower. I mean they got a party for
a party from party. So the way that I look
at it is, you're that guy. You've become You're the
female Brian Loli. A week so I'm another wedding at
a party. A week from tomorrow, I'm in a wedding
(01:40:20):
in the Woodlands or in Conro. Yeah, so I think
it isod.
Speaker 5 (01:40:25):
I do not.
Speaker 1 (01:40:25):
I know I'm not a ready for that.
Speaker 7 (01:40:29):
I'm not.
Speaker 1 (01:40:31):
I have.
Speaker 4 (01:40:32):
The way I look at it is a couple of
these weddings that I'm in are former players of mine.
Speaker 1 (01:40:36):
That's awesome. So I look at it.
Speaker 4 (01:40:37):
You know, you can sit here and loud talk to
me about being like a woman. But I want to
consider myself a leader. Yeah, no, that's great, it's great.
Just keep following everybody getting wedding.
Speaker 1 (01:40:45):
Why you not? Damn right? I think it's the guy
in the back.
Speaker 18 (01:40:50):
Don't do it?
Speaker 1 (01:40:50):
But if you ever have you ever don Yeah when
you're the best man. I've said that to a couple
of times. His best way, like, dude, you sure you're
doing this? I'm sure you want to do that. I mean,
I love your significant other, but sure you want to
do this? Sure man, Sean, Now it's not the time, sewn,
shut up in the time because I'm gonna say I
left it at the crib. Got it, man, you can't
get married. But it's funny how they all hit it once.
(01:41:11):
Have you ever noticed something like it's happened to Pat?
Were you like best man, I gotta go to this guy? Yeah,
it's like I got that. S's four weddings and twelve
But slow down, folks, because you know it's.
Speaker 4 (01:41:20):
Well, what month we had September, October, got one in November,
and then one in March. So that's what September, October, November, December, January, February, March,
seven months, four weddings.
Speaker 1 (01:41:30):
Come on. With all your wedding planning and all the
things you do in bachelorette and bachelor parties. You're going on. Yeah,
Like I said, like, well, why don't you go next
time your birthday comes up in March? Should we just
celebrate the whole month for sure?
Speaker 4 (01:41:42):
Yeah, birthday? Why not your birthdays in the same month.
It's my birthday, No, it's my birthday month. Yeah, we
can do it together.
Speaker 1 (01:41:50):
Go there, you go, Well, let's do it. Maybe we'll
find a bachelor party to go crash. What a shock. Yeah,
it'll be your twelfth one of the year. Got so far? Yeah,
mey suits I've had to buy, but it's good. Classic
it all hits at once.
Speaker 4 (01:42:02):
Were like trying to keep them in the fall the figure,
I know all I got to try to coach as well.
Speaker 1 (01:42:06):
Come on, man, I have them kids, though I agree
you're preaching.
Speaker 4 (01:42:10):
The choir dog seven five seven, I got a couple
of guys that still want to get in talking astros
talking uh college football. Next in sports Stock seven to eighty,
The Sean Salisbury Show continued, and then chicks Bacherette parties
probably overrated. All the the balloons and the and the
(01:42:31):
the just the all the she's wearing the sash, everybody
wearing black while she's wearing white or whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:42:40):
Pink and I don't know, dude, pink boots. Now you're
going to like one of the bachelor party bachelorette party
capitals of the world. Scott Still, Yes, Nashville's right up
there too. Never been there. It's talk to Steve. Steve,
good morning, well.
Speaker 34 (01:42:55):
Good morning. I hope everybody's doing well. Thanks for taking
my call for the ASTRO are showing themselves really well.
I'm very impressed. I hate to sound like a negative one,
but you were talking about the two young men that
were killed by the drinking driver. I wish people would
(01:43:16):
stop and really consider how much of a danger they're
presenting to themselves. But other people, if you drink one
beer and you're driving along and some darting child runs
out in front of you and hit them, seriously in
jury them, are killing you will be investigated, at least investigated,
(01:43:37):
probably arrested, just because you.
Speaker 36 (01:43:39):
Have the smell of alcohol in your breath. So you
might beat the rep that you won't be the ride.
And furthermore, even if you beat all that, you're still
going to wonder about it for the rest of your life.
Why didn't I stop to.
Speaker 23 (01:43:55):
Think about it? Why did I even have that beer.
Did it cause the injury or death of that person?
So anyway, that's all.
Speaker 34 (01:44:02):
There's There's one one more comment is there's a local
uh news uh you know uh host who talks about, Hey,
pop a top at the end of your work day
and drink on the way home, and it just I
feel like calling him sometimes, said you realize how irresponsible
(01:44:23):
that is. One drink, you have an accident, You've got
alcohol in your breath.
Speaker 23 (01:44:27):
You're going to go to the jail.
Speaker 34 (01:44:29):
So anyway, that's all I was calling about. Is is
really sad to hear about somebody being seriously injured or
killed like that.
Speaker 23 (01:44:36):
But just a word of the wise. When you drink,
you are putting yourself in jeopardy and I know that
from you know, personally as well as professionally.
Speaker 5 (01:44:44):
That's it.
Speaker 23 (01:44:45):
Nothing else.
Speaker 1 (01:44:45):
Thanks a lot for listening, Thanks Seve. That's a good
public service announcement. It really is. Just be careful.
Speaker 4 (01:44:53):
Yeah, sad calling over yep, Jason, welcome in what you
got on these LSU tigers.
Speaker 11 (01:44:58):
Well, I will say on the drunk driving thing, as
a victim of a drunk driving accident as a pedestrian,
that's just something you gotta use as good judgment, and
I mean things like that. You never know whenever you
get inside the vehicle and you have alcohol in your breath,
(01:45:18):
like the last collar said, it could be a major issue.
So I'm kind of heard that guy talking about that.
But when it comes to LSU, now, Fellas, here's the
complicated part. Because my mama went to Alabama and my
daddy went to LSU, so it's kind of a house divided.
(01:45:39):
So we went to every pretty much every home game
LSU growing up.
Speaker 1 (01:45:44):
And I tell you, when.
Speaker 11 (01:45:46):
Garth Brooks hits and then lights start going dim, diming
in and out, Man, that is a wonderful pilling. That
is just just hearing over ninety thousand plus now maybe
one hundred thousand plus us. You know every time you
get into the atmosphere and they call it Dead Valley
for a reason, you know. So yeah, that's man, just
(01:46:09):
just being in that atmosphere. That'll get you, that'll get
your blood kicking.
Speaker 1 (01:46:14):
You ain't lying great place. Thank you for the call, Jason.
You are one hundred percent correct. I'll tell you another thing.
They used to have dorm rooms built into the side
of Tiger Stadium. Do you know that? No back in
the day bad as you imagine. I mean, I would
never want to live in the dorm if I did,
I don't want to live next door to the Yeah,
I'm pretty sure I don't think it was just office
I'm pretty sure it was dorm rooms as well. That
would be a pretty cool place to get that draw,
(01:46:35):
wouldn't that? Why not awesome? Help me in?
Speaker 9 (01:46:38):
Hey?
Speaker 32 (01:46:38):
John?
Speaker 1 (01:46:38):
What's up? Man?
Speaker 11 (01:46:40):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (01:46:40):
Dog?
Speaker 23 (01:46:40):
Come on man?
Speaker 35 (01:46:41):
Happy?
Speaker 8 (01:46:42):
Damn?
Speaker 1 (01:46:43):
Man? You just unenthusiastically. Hey John, good to talk? Hey John,
what's happening man?
Speaker 37 (01:46:48):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:46:48):
Yeah, Hi Jootna? How about that? John? How about this?
He comes on? Hey Jason?
Speaker 6 (01:46:55):
Hey, Rob, Hey, Hey, how you doing? Hey Brandon?
Speaker 1 (01:46:59):
Great to talk. Do you have a great weekend?
Speaker 2 (01:47:01):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:47:01):
Hi John? How are you? That's ridiculous, isn't John?
Speaker 9 (01:47:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:47:06):
I said, man, you know, what do you expect from
somebody out next thing? You know, from out next thing?
You know, he's gonna be one of those guys posted
a picture of him taking a bath and reading with
a champagne and his toes hanging out on the bachelor party. Yeah,
but I'll have them. I'll have no, I don't. That
was Ryan money. We went over this, John, dude, if
you have a mimsy in the bathtub, and then I'll
(01:47:28):
have him done.
Speaker 4 (01:47:29):
I'll have my but in the picture. I'll have my
feet blurred out. No free toes, dog, you gotta pay
for those.
Speaker 33 (01:47:36):
I got a question, So this was okay, John, Jesus,
Mary and Joseph and the donkey too.
Speaker 5 (01:47:47):
Hey, the.
Speaker 33 (01:47:50):
This squirreled is so hot that squirrely putting him nuts
to nights.
Speaker 5 (01:47:54):
Hey, check it out man last night.
Speaker 33 (01:47:56):
This was brought to my attention by my one of
my great and I don't think anybody's noticed this, but
Kansas City Royals their uniforms are screwed up.
Speaker 1 (01:48:09):
If you look some of the they're like, okay, what
is it?
Speaker 33 (01:48:13):
We have oxy or whatever it's called on our pat
on our shoulder sleeve. If you look at they have
quick check or quick Trip. They have qt's on their
shoulder sleeve. Some of them are on the left, some
of them are on the right. Y'all ain't never noticed that,
No I have.
Speaker 1 (01:48:32):
I haven't paid quick trip, but it ain't BUCkies, but
it's quick Trip. That's exactly right.
Speaker 11 (01:48:39):
You need to pay attention.
Speaker 33 (01:48:41):
This is why you are and this is why you
are a color commentator. This is why you're an analyst.
This is why you're on the radio.
Speaker 1 (01:48:48):
You need to pay attention to these things.
Speaker 33 (01:48:50):
If an eleven year old catches it, you would think
a forty one year old would.
Speaker 1 (01:48:58):

you guys hire those guys from? I didn't do that.
I didn't make that. Oh, that's nothing wrong with it.

guy pulls his belt off and the rest is history.

that that that then you got.

Then you got some Yeah, that's pretty cool, isn't it

Speaker 37 (01:57:36):
Let me let me say his though, Sean and I
love uh dion Son Shador. You know, he looked like
he's gonna be a decent quarterback at the next level.
But that number twelve, Shan and and the words of
my league, that's.
Speaker 44 (01:57:50):
A bad man.
Speaker 1 (01:57:51):
That's a bad that's that's the best player on that team.
Speaker 44 (01:57:56):
That dude is something. Okay, let me ask you to, Sean,
if you TM the NFL executives and you know, we
know it's kind of hard to play both ways in
the next level. So what side of the ball would
you put him?
Speaker 1 (01:58:10):
I don't know yet, to be honest with you. Scores
three touchdowns on one side, is a lockdown guy on
the other, and he doesn't need load management. He plays
damn near every play the entire game. Guy's ridiculous and
as good as Shedur Sanders is maybe a top ten pick.
I'm not sure. Travis Hunter's ability isn't doesn't trump that.
I mean, as a matter of fact I not. I
(01:58:32):
am sure because he is well, the quarterback is going
to get all the love, and he should. Travis Hunter
may very well be the best all around football player
in America right now. And that's saying something considering I'm
not talking about gonna win the Heisman Trophy. He may
if he keeps this up, but it's become a quarterback award.
And we know about the guys around the country, but
if you're just talking about true football player, you draft
(01:58:53):
him and say what an option I have that I
can play him at corner and he'll be a pro
bowler for ten years. Or I can play him at
wide receiver and he'll catch one hundred balls and his
run after the catch is stupid. So yeah, I'm with you, man.
He's there ain't five players in America better, and you'll
be hard pressed to find one all around better, and
he's the best player on that team. I don't know
where I'm going to play him yet, I really don't,
(01:59:13):
and thank goodness, I don't have to make that decision
right now, but I draft him to play him at
both and we'll figure it out. That's one of those
guys say, dude, he's so we'll just figure out. I
don't care where we drive, I don't care what he plays.
Listen as a DV listened as wide receiver, he's a
put it this way, if he played one or the other,
he's a top five or top ten pick in my opinion,
play in either position. So if he was just a corner,
(01:59:35):
pick him high. If he was just a receiver, pick
him by the fact that he's show Hey o Tani
for football, plays both at a high level like this, Hell,
you can't go wrong. I'm with you. This is as
good a football player as the college football has.
Speaker 37 (01:59:49):
Yeah, it is his hand eye coordination and it's just sick.
Speaker 1 (01:59:54):
Yeah, agreed, agree, Yeah, but.
Speaker 44 (01:59:58):
Yeah, Michigan shot.
Speaker 23 (02:00:00):
I think it got you.
Speaker 37 (02:00:00):
But I do like when the White.
Speaker 1 (02:00:02):
Horse run it in, I love my fight song, but
I'm with you. I would defer. I'd say, I mean,
I love Notre Dames, but to me, Keith Jackson. I
hear Keith Jackson's voice, you know, love college football and
introducing the you know, the the Wolverines of Michigan playing
against all. I can hear his voice, and with all
the great fight songs, the fight song I think is
the goat I'm with you. There are some good ones,
(02:00:24):
but Michigan sits at the top of the list for me.
Speaker 44 (02:00:28):
Yeah, I have a good weekend before you too, Buddy.
Speaker 1 (02:00:30):
Be safe, man, I appreciate he's he's right now when
that Trojan horse comes rolling out. Man, it's pretty cool.
There's some really good fight songs. I know Ohio State
fans don't want hear about Michigan, but you gotta admit
when you're listening to we'll play during this show, but
Michigan fight songs pretty damn good man. Maybe we'll play USC.
Who knows, and we got to play Notre Dames as well.
We better get to step We got three, got three to.
Speaker 4 (02:00:50):
Get in on mcdog, Notre Dame, USC, Michigan, Michigan three
for next hour.
Speaker 1 (02:00:58):
He's like, he's heavy the thumbs up, Like, man, why
don't you just shut your mouth? Well, he was, you know,
his voice is a little raspy. He he was grinding
on the FIFA a little VID game, little PS five.
After all these years, are we not past the PS five?
Only on like PS twelve yet? Man?
Speaker 4 (02:01:16):
I think they just just debuted like a bigger version
of the PS five something like that.
Speaker 1 (02:01:21):
Are we stopping at the PS five and just making
adjustments to it from here on. I'm sure it'll be
a PS six Yeah, before we know it. Yeah, it's
like iPhones. Man, what iPhone are we on right now?
The sixteen? It's about to be sixteen that's coming up.
Usually they don't they I think they debuting this month.
I don't know. They know exactly when your phone's gonna die,
and when you're the chargers gonna die. He's got like
(02:01:43):
eight because it's like clockwork, and then they know you
got to come in by the next one. They're printing
money with their accessories. So yeah, incredible. Yeah, they just
changed the charge report on them as well. Stupid Tom.
Before the top of the hour, what's happening?
Speaker 28 (02:01:57):
Great show this morning, guys. You got me going on
this thing about confidence. I was thinking about it while
I was doing my job this morning, and I couldn't wait.
Speaker 9 (02:02:05):
To get in.
Speaker 28 (02:02:07):
You know, I really think that you've hitten on something
with confidence. You know, we always we forget how good
these guys are from any professional sport, you know, the
sacrifices they've made to get to that level. We forget
about how hard it is. So let me talk about confidence, ability, talent.
These are all intersections that every professional athlete has to navigate.
(02:02:32):
And you're going to have to make left turns when
you have to make a right turn, so it's hard
to do. But if you're not confident, it affects every
part of your life, especially if you're a guy that's
a closer. If you don't have confidence, you probably shouldn't
be a close because you're going to get taken deep.
But want to I want to really point something out
(02:02:52):
about we forget how good these guys are, and as fans,
we hold them to a level that maybe isn't fair,
and I think we all kind of know that, but
we forget sometimes. Let's look at what happened with Arraghatti
the other day. The guy was five outs away from
a no hitter. He would have been the second pitcher
(02:03:14):
on a rookie on a staff for the first time
that would have had two no hitters in the season.
That's how hard this game is. Would have been nice
to be able to say that because the Astros they've
got a great history with no hitters. I think we
missed an opportunity there, but it might come again. Confidence
(02:03:34):
is with gets athletes to do things incredible. It gets
them to fail. Look what happened to Chas McCormick. The
guy wanted to become a poor hitter this year and
now he pulled himself out of a major league job.
But didn't it take a level of confidence to even
go in that direction.
Speaker 35 (02:03:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 28 (02:03:55):
He tried it, it didn't work.
Speaker 1 (02:03:57):
Now it takes a level of confidence, and Tom it
takes a level of confidence now to get back. Because
what happens is it's a fragile profession. Sports is it is,
And I'm convinced I'll just go from my career the physical.
You know, we all get old father time, but during it,
when you're going bad, it's usually not physical. The physical
may be the result we see on television watching, but
(02:04:19):
there's a mental block or something. For me, it was
never fun. I can always say I didn't forget how
to throw football, But when you're going through those misses, it's,
oh my gosh. Then you start the question did I prepare? Yeah,
you were prepared?
Speaker 9 (02:04:30):
Well.
Speaker 1 (02:04:30):
Did I study harder?
Speaker 18 (02:04:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:04:32):
I studied hard enough. They said, well, what is it?
So the mental leads to the physical problem. The physical
doesn't lead to the mental problem. Unless it's an injury.
I'm just telling you, in Mike Care, I've seen more
guys wilt because of the mental grind than they have
the physical grind and trying to get back at it.
Right now, Chas McCormick's still physically gifted. Chas McCormick right
now is mentally reeling. And that's the problem. That's right.
Speaker 28 (02:04:55):
And you know, it's a funny thing. Confidence could be
where you're thing at night. It could be the house
you own, the car you drive. But here's Chas McCormick.
He comes back to Philadelphia, his hometown. He's in a
ballpark that he was ten years ago, eating hot dogs
with his buddies and chucking down beers. He gets into Philadelphia,
(02:05:16):
comes off the bench, second pitch a bomb to right center.
Speaker 13 (02:05:21):
Home cooking.
Speaker 28 (02:05:22):
Maybe I don't know, but it's an amazing thing. And
I'll close with this, and I steal this because I
steal everything from the people that know what they're talking about.
And this is like an art bell show today.
Speaker 24 (02:05:33):
With confidence, you could put.
Speaker 28 (02:05:35):
This on any radio station across the nation and everybody
would want to call and have an opinion about what
makes you a success in a game. That we love
to watch. But when you're sitting at home and you
expect a player to come through for you, you forget
what have you done for me lately? It's so hard
what they do. Right now, we're going to start a
(02:05:57):
game that we love so much watching for for seventeen weeks,
and we're gonna live and die with what these teams do.
But every week on the sidelines there's thirty guys holding
up iPad or a clipboard that played backup quarterback in
the NFL. And they're backups, but they're still the best
(02:06:19):
one percent in the world at playing quarterback.
Speaker 4 (02:06:23):
Thanks Tom, we gotta get We forget Tom. We gotta
get to the nine o'clock hour. We appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (02:06:26):
Good be with you guys. YouTube Tom great stuff, man,
great point.
Speaker 4 (02:06:29):
It's getting the nine o'clock hour. We got to talk
college football. We gotta look at these games. It doesn't
hurt my feelings. Let's go Astros are gonna win game
two anyway.
Speaker 1 (02:06:38):
Yeah, don't matter. Yeah, affil you Bobby with who he's
pretty good. He's all right, he'll do it a pitch.

Got some explanation on those patches you. I also see that,
by the way, Jamar Chase has decided not to compete
in camp because he's sitting at a camp for a
second day. He wants more money.
Speaker 4 (02:08:00):
Yeah, he's been uh, basically that's been going on. And
Zach Taylor earlier this week said, oh yeah, I expect
him to be ready to go for Week one the
very next day he said, I think I put my
foot in my mouth, So there's no there.
Speaker 1 (02:08:13):
I don't know what's going on, but he's seeing all
these all his cohorts get paid around the league. Man,
his peers, his buddies, He's going to get paid, just
matter what. Trying to get out of making sure Cincinnati
doesn't go cheap on him. Right right, Anyway, you were
talking about the sleeves with the Royals, those patches was
talking about. So the patches are on the sleeve according
(02:08:36):
to what side they bat on. So if they're righty, lefty,
depending on they want do they want the they want
the logo to show out to the outfield. So basically,
if you're a righty, it's on your left sleeve and
a lefty on your right sleeve.
Speaker 4 (02:08:50):
So the patches are on the TV side arm when
the player's bat So if it's alrighty, it's gonna be.
Speaker 1 (02:08:54):
On your left that's exactly right, and lefty it's on
your right right right sleeve. They want they want the
camera to pick it up.
Speaker 4 (02:08:59):
Yeah, so hey, John, tell you're eleven year old to
figure it out, bro Brolin. Yeah, thank you to Michelle Marcus,
Mike and Grace. They all tweeted me and you Sean
for the most part about that explanation.
Speaker 1 (02:09:16):
I had no idea. Thank you peeps. I'm not looking
at patches though you're not. No, maybe we should start.
Maybe you want to elevate.
Speaker 4 (02:09:24):
You want to have a full Jersey breakdown on Tuesday
and we get back from a long weekend, break them down, dog,
and you talk about it. We can make it instead
of you know, we got to stay out of seven fifteen.

Speaker 24 (02:09:50):

Speaker 1 (02:09:50):

what a place, so much respect for the tradition. What
a fight song? You just what a fight song? I said,
(02:16:45):
you're clapping a Not Dame's fight song. That's blasphemous for
a Trojan, isn't it? Due? Respectful rivalry?
Speaker 21 (02:16:49):
Though?
Speaker 1 (02:16:50):
I mean, dude, you just just the way you know
that touchdown Jesus and visit there?
Speaker 9 (02:16:55):
Man?
Speaker 1 (02:16:56):
Hell yeah, yeah. I mean a tip if it had
been two thousand miles closer to California would have been
even I mean I considered it strongly though, I would have.
I mean, it's it's enticing when you walk on that
campus and it's like you go into the Notre Dame bookstore,
you're tripping. It's like, wow, the history. And then you're
sixteen seventeen. I was seventeen when I took my recruiting.
(02:17:17):
All right, who who messed? Did you? Did you fix
your Wikipedia page?
Speaker 28 (02:17:21):

Speaker 1 (02:17:21):

Speaker 5 (02:17:23):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (02:17:23):

The disrespect. Why what happened? Somebody took that out?
Speaker 4 (02:17:30):

Speaker 1 (02:17:46):
Yeah, good time, sad by all. Don't put it in there.
I'm not You're gonna keep playing on. But I love
the Soul Ras State. Can you sing your fight song? No,
I cannot. Notre Dame we barely had a program. A
program we had like program.
Speaker 4 (02:18:02):
We had like uh, a bass drum, a couple of trumpets,
a snare drum.
Speaker 1 (02:18:11):
That was about it. A little high hat symbol. That's it.
Speaker 4 (02:18:14):
There's like twelve people in our band. A little different now,
but that's a you're the Soul ro State, the big
red machine.
Speaker 1 (02:18:20):
Hey, sometimes good things come in small packages, rarely, rarely.
You better, you better have some other skills. Better, you
better have some good motion in the ocean or whatever.
Speaker 4 (02:18:38):
They said, whoa, oh you're talking, that's what you mean.
Oh I thought you were talking. I thought you were
talking about boyants. I thought you were talking about buoyancy
like boats. I was, Yeah, that's right, Yeah, like a
jet ski. You know, it's a small package compared to
like a yacht.
Speaker 1 (02:18:54):
You know, a smaller school. There's good players described in
smaller schools exactly. Yeah, the little small bands have turned
into big hall of fame bands in Cleveland.
Speaker 9 (02:19:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:19:04):
I have three teammates drafted there you go, Yeah, why not?
I feel you? Three and three years at Soul Raw State.
A lot of small packages, that's yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean,

Kings with the fully lived? Will you want to do? Actually? Please?
Speaker 4 (02:20:02):
I'm gonna make some money. Yeah, no, I really do
whatever you're betting. If you know whatever you're betting?
Speaker 1 (02:20:07):
I needed? Okay, did I tell you to bet a
possible upset with North with Minnesota last night? Yeah? I
told you cover right, Okay, even though CAROLINEA is still
covered because it was a point and a half, but
it was a possible But I told you the north
North Dakosta state, and if you'd bet it, you'dn't want
a lot of money that five hundred million dollars on it?
Why didn't you? I know the the books are letting
(02:20:28):
you bet that carrying your money? Come on, no, really, no,
in all seriousness, you want to you want a little
look like a fifty dollars parlay for three?
Speaker 18 (02:20:36):
Right?
Speaker 1 (02:20:36):
Yes? Absolutely, fifty will get you three? It will. I'll
take it to three hundred. You ready? Oh you already
got a line?
Speaker 7 (02:20:42):
No?
Speaker 1 (02:20:43):
No, I got you, I got you, We got I

because you got a phone? Uh yeah, okay, we'll quick

Speaker 4 (02:20:56):
Are the text you and you'll get I'm just saying,
eleven am. Kickoff tomorrow will be ninety in Arizona. Right,
So I'm gonna have to go to the trash book today,
get your assed up and go early.
Speaker 1 (02:21:07):
Yeah, I'm gonna go to the gym to war anyway.
Speaker 4 (02:21:09):
It's a gym, yeah, because my body's gonna wake me
up it regardless, is gonna wake me up early anyways.
Speaker 1 (02:21:15):
It's your choice.
Speaker 4 (02:21:16):
So yeah, Clemson, Georgia, that's gonna be a good one.
Penn State, West Virginia got Penn State's got to go
to Morgantown, Morgan, Morgantown, Morgantown never never an easy place
to play Morgan, No, sure is man, that's gonna be
a good one as well.
Speaker 1 (02:21:29):
Just looking down a sneaky team, and I said, Penn
State needs to win and sneaky, So sneaky teams Spence
Penn State sneaky team when it comes to hard to
be sneaky when you're a top ranked team, one of
the top teams, but top twenty type team and even better,
but They're a sneaky Big ten champion type team. They're
pretty damn good.
Speaker 4 (02:21:50):
Another another sneaky game, Miami at Florida, Florida what's his name?
Speaker 1 (02:21:57):
Yeah, they have the most brutal schedule in America. Georgia's
I mean, I'm sorry, Florida sc and Florida's schedules this year.
Florida's are like good luck. Florida's schedule they play like
eighty top twenty teams. I don't know how you do that,
but they do, okay, like eighty of them. Their schedule
is it's frigging they go on. They ruled to run
(02:22:18):
the gamut of about six straight weeks where they're ranked teams.
It's uh Tennessee on October twelve.
Speaker 4 (02:22:26):
We don't leave this one out. Hell, Miami is a
good changes. It's Miami, dude. Their schedule is is it's Miami.
Read it, Miami then Samford, then A and M then
Mississippi State, then UCF, then Tennessee then Kentucky then Georgia, Texas,
LSU all miss Florida State.
Speaker 1 (02:22:43):
It's like unfair. It's like, how do you go into that?
Say hey, guys, DA, I mean I know you're Florida
and you want to win it. Sets for some great upsets,
but good gracious, that's the most bru That schedule is horrendous.
That's awful. If you're a Florida fan, you're like, damn
tough schedule. We got a lot of great games to
have on with in the swamp or on the road.
But man, that is harsh for a guy whose job
(02:23:06):
is Billy Napier. Billy's trying to if he can roll
through this and get through it and win a bunch
of games, hell contract extension. But that is a tall task, man.
Brutal schedule.
Speaker 4 (02:23:18):
Yeah, they are at Texas and at Florida State, or
at Tennessee, at Texas at Florida State. So at least
when they take on Georgia, it's at it's actually going
to be in a neutral location.
Speaker 1 (02:23:30):
I said, that's the world's largest cocktail party. That's Georgia
and Florida. Don't they play that in Jacksonville?
Speaker 4 (02:23:35):
Usually in Jacksonville? That's right, Yeah, they do play that
in Jacksonville. They host LSU and they host ole Miss.
Speaker 1 (02:23:40):
Both teams are capable of being top ten teams all
year long too. It's a brutal schedule for Florida. Yeah,
no doubt about it.
Speaker 4 (02:23:47):
Let's get to break and we'll continue to talk about
college football on some of these big games over the weekend.
We got to look at USC and LSU as well.
Seven one, three, two, two five, seven ninety is the
number to join. Let's continue to roll along here on
the Seawan Salisbury Show. Well, let me tell you Evokeroofing,
evokeroofing dot com. The biggest thing you want with your
roofing contractor is trust. You know, want guys that are
(02:24:07):
come out and give you the whole sales tactic speech
and show you things on an iPad and you know
you're dealing with your insurance agent and things like that,
and it's just stressful, especially if you've got damage from
Hurricane Barrel. You need somebody you can trust, and that
is Evoke Roofing in General Contracting. They have been here
in the state of Texas for over thirty years, thirty
(02:24:30):
years of roofing and contracting experience and an A plus

an Atlas Platinum Preferred contractor. Those are the shingle manufacturers.
They use the shingles have a household name a three

(02:25:13):

Evoke Roofing eight three two three seven seven eight two
A two It's Evoke Roofing.
Speaker 3 (02:25:22):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 1 (02:26:29):
Keith Jackson's voice maybe a little Frank Broyle. Now give me, uh,
Brent much you are looking live at the big House.
I'll take Keith Jackson. That's anyway. Yeah, that's that's that's nostalgic,
right there, No doubt about it, Michigan. He's going to
take corner, got it, takes a minute to get that. Yeah,
it takes takes a minute to get to the course
(02:26:51):
of that. But man, though the departed everybody else, did
you know the call that I just mimicked, say, he's
going for the corner, He's got it. Who what game
was Keith Jackson against?
Speaker 28 (02:27:09):
What?
Speaker 1 (02:27:09):
What game was it? USC was involved? Oh yeah, you're
talking about Vince Young.
Speaker 5 (02:27:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:27:15):
I was in person there, So I don't ever want
to go reback and do what Keith.
Speaker 4 (02:27:19):
Do you ever take a step I mean all dead
ass seriousness, do you ever take a step back and
appreciate it? And I know you appreciate a bad question
that you were on the sideline watching probably the greatest
college football game of all time. And I know it
sucks because you're USC alum and they lost, but still
just appreciate.
Speaker 1 (02:27:37):
Respect and appreciate. Oh yeah, it was unbelievable and and
the the talent that was on the sideline for that.
And I'm not named dry, but people want to hear
the name of people who were standing there, but from
Munnos to Ronnie Lott to Marcus Allen, they were all
I mean, it was packed as those as both sides
(02:27:58):
were McConaughey. I mean and watched that game and to
stand and I was standing next to Ronnie a Lot
in the majority of the game, dude, And I'll tell
you what I actually thought on the way Vince Young
was playing that Ronnie Lot. I'm telling you now, and
I mean this as honest as I can ever say it.
I thought Ronnie a Lot at some point was going
to go strange but true football stories and come off
that sideline and try to tackle his ass. Really because
(02:28:20):
of now, Ronnie wouldn't, but because Ronnie watching that, he
was beside himself. Because when you played, when Ronnie doesn't
like Mattador defense and Vince Young and that Texas offense
made remember Mala Luga, Matthews and uh and Brian Cushing
(02:28:42):
is the best lineback in corner America. There were stars,
both rosters filled with phenomenal players. And while Reggie won
the Heisman, if they'd have voted after Vince probably would
have won it. I still don't understand why we don't,
I know, because it's a made for TV did December
event when it's slow time early December. It was the
array of town on the field and the number of
(02:29:02):
plays that were made in decisions to make them was
nothing short of mind boggling. It was one of the great.
And I've watched Warren, Moon and Marino duel when I
was playing in minnesot I've seen some great quarterback performances.
Now we know liner in that group, how talented they were.
It was one of the great individual quarterback performers I've
ever seen. And that's saying something because I've watched l
(02:29:25):
Way do stupid stuff, Steve. I've seen them all do
crazy things, right, And I feel blessed to be able
to have watched great players played against them and duels
duel against John. Watch Moon and Marino go back and
forth like throw for four hundred we see we see
it with Mahomes and Allen this in person, just on
an individual. He didn't win it alone because they had
some good They had a great stop against us going down,
(02:29:48):
which which you know, if you had a due over,
Reggie'd be on the field, or you've punt it away
and make them go nighty. But the way Vince was going,
you didn't want the ball back in his hands. And yeah,
I would consider it one of the great. Well, the
the ending sucked for USC. You had to appreciate the
greatness that was on that field. And Vince when I
say unconscious, I don't mean that he didn't have games
(02:30:09):
like that all year, because he did. But that game
and that moment, at that time, with that stage, it's
hard to find hard best to play any better. Yeah.
He beat you with his arm, he beat you with
his feet, and he beats you under the most stressful
at times in a game. Yeah, And I'm sitting there watching.
I'm telling you it was watching reaction from just the
up and down and the great players in that last one,
(02:30:32):
the keise call that we've all heard on a highlight
but it Yeah, I considered it an honor. Yeah, standing
right down the side watching but you couldn't. It's one
thing on TV, but to see it too in person
and to watch how it unfolded and when they got
the ball back after that's fourth down stop. I'm just
telling you, there was this feeling of how are we
getting off the field? And you're saying, how you getting
(02:30:52):
out the field? You have three of the best linebackers
in America. Well, of course we're getting off the field.
Speaker 29 (02:30:57):
Now.
Speaker 1 (02:30:58):
Vince Young was superman that day, you know, I think
back to that game, and I was young. I was
a sophomore in high school. If I'm not mistaken, there's
me the chills thinking about it and just college football
and the moment.
Speaker 4 (02:31:08):
I think of, like in I'd have to go back
and I've watched it, you know, highlights and stuff like that.
The turning point for me was like the bonehead play
of Reggie Bush trying to pitch it backwards.
Speaker 1 (02:31:18):
I know it's earlier in the game. Stress will make
you do but you can't do that. Gave you point,
that's right, what stress? And Reggie what a season he had?
Rights dynamic of college better than him in that game. Well,
I would have given the ball to Lindell White there too,
but Reggie would have been on the field. I get it.
If you're doing give it to him, or at least
to motion Reggie out so people have to account for him.
(02:31:40):
But yeah, stress will make you do some crazy things,
no matter how good you are. And Vince Young handled
stress as well as any quarterback could ever handle it
in that game, and it was a pleasure to watch
all those great players on both sides. The ending wasn't
good for USC, but I don't know how you don't
walk off that field thinking take you don't just tip
your hat, you take it off and give it to
Vince ut. It was an incredible, incredible night of football
(02:32:04):
at the Rose Bowl. Yeah, it was the setting at
the Rose. Everything about it was what college football was
and should be. Yeah, that's it was unbelievable. I know
that's arguably the greatest one ever.
Speaker 4 (02:32:16):
But one that I can go back and watch a
thousand times is that Boise State and OU Fiesta Bowl.
Speaker 1 (02:32:22):
Two trick plays the hook, the hook and ladder and
the and the and the reach around statue of liberty unreal.
Speaker 4 (02:32:29):
Adrian Peterson waltzes into the end zone to start overtime.
Speaker 1 (02:32:33):
No one touches them and to have the balls to
call the plays they were calling, and not only calling,
but a lot of times you call those and they
don't work. They execute a perfection in the in the
most perfection, the most stress filled situation into perfection. I say,
s he's been in person the when Matt Lioner Pushbush
and the zone. Yeah, I was at that game in
(02:32:55):
person too. I went to notice the South Bend and
see to tailgate with buddies and we went and in
Chicago and then drove in the next morning and so
it had a blast. Yeah, what a phenomenal game. I mean,
Charlie Weis told me on the field he was Notre Dame,
said coach all that down the field we're talking, Charlie said, Sean.
I'll never forget where Charlie was standing. He says, Sean,
we're beating you today. I said, Charlie, I mean, I
(02:33:16):
appreciate it and I respect it that it's it's Notre Dame.
And I loved Charlie, right, I see, he goes, we're
winning this game today, and he was convinced of I
want to say, we don't have to fight right now, Charlie,
we're good, but we're buddies. But not happening. And man,
they back and forth, back and forth, and then they
hit the ball. The liner throws that ball up the
sideline on the whole shot and take it down. I
think it was it Dwayne Jerrett. And then we're going
(02:33:37):
and I'm thinking, I cannot believe this football game.
Speaker 9 (02:33:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:33:41):
I was fortunate to see a lot of those and
play with some. The greatest part of my career, well
I loved playing, is to watch greatness come to fruition
in certain moments where you see a guy raise his game,
it's like, how did he make that play? Vince made
a lot of him that day. Incredible performance.
Speaker 4 (02:33:56):
Just talking about the moments and stuff just gets me
fired up for college football.
Speaker 1 (02:33:59):
It's here, it's back. We got to make a few
picks and the quick for our guy to our guy
who requested again, I'm losing my mind about the uh oh, Conor, James,
can you just give you a little overall u n
LV Houston. I mean, let's just tease it this way. Yeah,
both defenses have to pick it up. And UNLV football
is playing better than they have ye in years years.
(02:34:24):

You want to see we can get these two calls
in real quick.
Speaker 5 (02:36:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:36:39):
How do you think the song leaders will feel? The
young leaders? The song leaders? Okay, yeah, you ain't arguing
with that? Are you not bad so far? Aggie Doug?
I got forty five seconds for you.
Speaker 35 (02:36:52):
Hey, boys, excited about going to the game this season.
Speaker 1 (02:36:58):
And Tripley thanks for that.
Speaker 35 (02:36:59):
You ready? Sorry obviously I called in after I heard
the Notre Dame fight song and I was just telling
Triple I was like, I have no interest in hearing
that song. Maybe once or twice, but that's that's about it.
But guys, I'm excited about this season and I'm actually
pretty optimistic. I think the Aggies are going to do
(02:37:21):
something special this year. I think you look at their schedule,
it definitely opens up, and I mean I think that
the Aggies could definitely be in the in the talk
of the playoff or maybe even the top five six
seventh seed in the playoffs this year, so I'm excited.
It obviously starts tomorrow. You go an upset Notre Dame
(02:37:43):
and all of a sudden you're in the conversation. So
I just I love that Notre Dame's ranked is high
when they really didn't do that much last year. So
it'll allow us if we do win this game, that
we can springboard into the top fifteen and hopefully go.
Speaker 1 (02:37:58):
From there and just keep winning, no question about it.
Speaker 9 (02:38:00):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (02:38:01):
It should be fun. Doug, congrats, And we played A
and M first out of the shoot today, so yeah,
fight song, there you go, and last call the show,
Q welcome in. Got forty five seconds for you.
Speaker 5 (02:38:11):
Man, y'all two of the bens Man Hey, man.
Speaker 1 (02:38:15):
O GQ in the mix.
Speaker 18 (02:38:16):
Where you been, say, man, I've been, I've been back.
I talked to Sean for a little bit yesterday, but
I got the story.
Speaker 5 (02:38:23):
I got to let y'all know. Man, y'all, y'all rang
a bed with me.
Speaker 18 (02:38:27):
When you said about Keith Jackson, I remember a long
time ago, and I'll never forget this. He was talking
about Dean stein Cooler living for Nebraska and he said
six five to seventy.
Speaker 5 (02:38:38):
Bitch press the student union buildings. But I never and
and you seawn about Vince.
Speaker 18 (02:38:46):
I remember I went to the same high school as
Vince and I saw him as a little puppet playing
middle league football. And he's always been a man amongst boys.
And and I remember watching that game with my step dad.
We was at the sports Ball And it's funny when
you mentioned that, I thought about that was probably the
greatest college game I ever saw. And when he was
in high school, we played a team north Shore in
(02:39:09):
the Astronome and the final score.
Speaker 5 (02:39:10):
Was sixty three to sixty one.
Speaker 18 (02:39:12):
You get the same kind of stuff in high school
and every level that he's played at.
Speaker 5 (02:39:18):
And he was so great that they had a running.
Speaker 18 (02:39:21):
Back from north Shore that was at rough for like
two sixty on about twenty carrieres and it was a
fourth and twenty four, and he was so great they
ran a sprint draw with his running back and had
it out there for Vince Young at the free safety,
tackling the guy after sixteen yards.
Speaker 5 (02:39:37):
He'd have went for about seventy more yards for suchdown.
Speaker 1 (02:39:40):
Shout out, shout out Madison High, baby, you great stuff man,
Thank you very much. And Adis Marlins. How about that
great stuff from Q and how about that the quarterback
who could have won the Heisman making tackles as a safety.
Who you got? Georgia Clemson, Georgia gave me a couple
more quickly, by State West Virginia. Give me Penn State.
This is straight up.
Speaker 21 (02:40:00):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (02:40:00):
The spreads are Colorado State, Texas, Texas, Miami and they
and they cover Miami in Florida. Give me Miami in
that game, Okay, is going to get closer to Georgia
than you think. It'll be a good game. Stay local,
un l v AT U of h give me U
n l v.
Speaker 5 (02:40:17):
U n LV.
Speaker 1 (02:40:18):
But I'm going to tell you it's gonna be the
beginning of something's going to change. Both defense is not good.
The defense of Houston's gotta be better this year. They
were like they were fifth from the worst last year,
and they will. Willie Fritz will turned around. Donovan Smith
big time player. Both offenses can score. That'll be a
fun game to watch. Notre Dame A and mme. I'm
taking the upset. I got A and M this week.
I think I like that one as well. I think
(02:40:39):
Connor Wigman is going to prove that he belongs. And
then last but not least, usc at L s U
taking close enough, closer to home both defenses still, I
mean a little bit of concern. I'm going to take
Southern cal and think they got it right, but high
but game in the thirties. I'm gonna take my alma
mater since it's close. If this was Georgia playing them,
(02:41:01):
I'd take them. I love L.
Speaker 9 (02:41:02):
S U.
Speaker 1 (02:41:03):
But I can't go against my Trojans. In the opener,
I think that the mascil play well. I'm anxious to
see how they deal with nes Meyer as well. Hey, man,
usc Man playing L. S U over in Vegas homes?
You want to go up? Yeah? The burger there you go,
there's one. Yeah, what is it like? Rusas Gruss and
(02:41:25):
uh what's the other one?
Speaker 16 (02:41:27):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (02:41:27):
Our Mexican Our Mexican hole in the wall, Mexican restaurant home,
Roberto Roberto Roberto's homes. Great carneiasada with guak burrito, what
Roberto's carnal and Moley? Maybe a little Pico the guy
