Speaker 1 (00:02):
Soulsby.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sean Salisbury, the USC Truths, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Brian Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (00:22):
FM sixty three, K four FM fourteen sixty three over in,
Katie Fullsher.
Speaker 6 (00:29):
That's all we'll start this second, cancel the parade. Parade's done.
Speaker 5 (00:32):
They're going to look to try to not get swept
by the Oakland Athletics today. Yeah, joy, it's a day gamer.
What did I tell you?
Speaker 7 (00:42):
What?
Speaker 6 (00:42):
Yeah? Yeah? What did I tell you, Yester about Chuck McCormick.
You also he said discomfort.
Speaker 5 (00:48):
You also have the Buffalo Bills, Mimmy Dolphins tonight, Chasmo
broken fracture, wrists out what I asked about Chaz.
Speaker 6 (00:56):
We understand the word weird discomfort, right, because, like I said,
anytime it's discomfort, it's far worse than my did it
oh A little banged up, a little sore discomfort. I
mean I literally looked at you said done, yeah, done,
discomfort house. Chasmo fractured wrist, He is going on the il.
It sucks. But that discomfort means when you ever hear
(01:17):
the word discomfort, it means a lot bigger than discomfort.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
What do you think the more I don't even know
how to put this more concerning phrase is discomfort or
back of the baseball card.
Speaker 6 (01:31):
Well, one means we're giving you the lifetime achievem mord
because you're not playing real well right now. That's what
the first That's what the last one means. Yeah, that
we're hope in the back of the baseball card makes
up for the fact that you're playing like ass right now.
That's what that means.
Speaker 8 (01:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:47):
The other one, discomfort means we're not telling you that
there's some real serious wrong, but we're telling you it's
more serious to being hurt. Okay, because at no time
this year if I heard the word discomfort used and
it hasn't turned out a little little u neck discomfort
for for Javier Boom you see l surgery. I don't
know how that happens, but I get how they have
(02:09):
to protect it. But listen, there's a key weak right
forearm discomfort out done John finished with discomfort and or
when it's discomforted back of the baseball card. Well, let
me just put it to you this way. Neither one
of them are good. No, they're not either of them
back of the baseball card is is good when your
(02:29):
career is over, because it says, man, you look at that
back of the baseball card, what a career. But while
you're saying it, while they're playing, that means he's going
through a tough sled time hanging in there. His card
tells us he's played good in the past, and the
discomfort means, well, guys, there's another there's another. Uh, the disailment.
In the next few days, we'll tell you that it's
more serious than not. If we hear discomfort and jose
(02:52):
Akaty's side, we'll be he won't play regular season game again.
I say, hekty, Yeah, Alt has side discomfort as well.
Speaker 5 (03:03):
That's not good. Nope, I was already know Twitter.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
Would somebody talk about the back of the baseball card
about it being about your results. Some guy puts out there,
he goes, yeah, your date of birth and age is
also back there. I'm like, that is so cold but true. God,
so let's hope that it's a bad It's a bummer
for Chuck. It's been one of those years for Chasmo.
It really has and we all have them at some
(03:26):
point in time. You hope you only have one of
them and you can move on from it. But tough
on him, and let's hope the Altov thing's not serious.
And listen, here's what Verlander at the back of the
baseball car tells us. Right now, Verlanders is going to
get every opportunity in his next three or four starts
to prove he can pitch his way out of this struggle.
And if he doesn't, then now I'm gonna tell you this.
If it's still like this, uh huh, and Kakuochie and
(03:48):
Brown and Fromber is still doing their thing, and and
Verlander's pitching like this, and the regular season's over and
they win the division, now come out and tell me
that you're going to start him on with the back
of the baseball card. Then then there's a big problem.
Oh yeah, even though I respect the career, the back
of the baseball card can't take over. Can't trump performance
(04:11):
leading into the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Does that make sense?
Speaker 6 (04:13):
Just can't? So well, But still, you know, you got
what's seventeen or so games to fix it. And he's
got about three starts or so, you know, three times
five fift Yeah, three or four starts, maybe four, but
three for sure.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
Yeah. Hunter Brown last night five innings, pitch nine, hits,
five and runs seven k is one walk. His last
two innings in that game last night, the fourth and
the fifth, he got absolutely barreled.
Speaker 6 (04:34):
That was about the That's the first time in a while.
Did you've that those words have been used on a
Hunter Brown start? That's that's true. It's just a simple fact.
He's been pretty brilliant for the most part this uh
for two thirds of this season, he'd been pretty damn good.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
They only had the Ashers, only had one extra base hit. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
See, my problem is not the pitching staff. My problem
is is clutch hitting, key hitting at the right time.
And Dana likes to say that that was timely hitting.
And they can shoot good, good at bats yep, quality right,
and they're they don't seem to be having enough of
them in key situations. And one extra base hitting the
(05:17):
game for them at home not good enough. No, hell,
it's not just the the A's that are you know,
whether they beat you, you know, beat you one way
with some bunting, beat you another way with hitting the
home runner, so or but they're pitching has been pretty
good in this series to I mean there is having
trouble scoring runs.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
Man, you know a lot of them. Who's having a
really good year for the A's is Rooker. Brent Rooker.
My gosh, man, he's sitting two ninety nine with almost
with over nine hundred ops, two more hits last.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
N You don't know the names, No, you don't, but
you know that the performances is lit. Yeah, okay, there
the kids say.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
If I'm not mistaken, they're like one of the best
teams in baseball since the All Star Break.
Speaker 6 (06:00):
And one of those best hitting teams as well.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
Which is insane because they're they get like four thousand fans,
four thousand fans a night out there. Yeah, that's freaking.
Speaker 6 (06:09):
And it's a tribute to them knowing that what they're
playing in front of and they still compete in their
ass off.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
In Mason Miller for them, he is just absolutely disgusting.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
I don't know how you sat there and has been
sustained that that velocity and everything all year long. He's
really good, man, he is. I mean, how many people
be standing in line to get him as their back
end guy. Yeah, he's just across the league. He is disgusting.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
Yeah, twenty four saves got a two point three era,
but it just seems like every time I watch him pitch,
like the dude doesn't give up hits.
Speaker 6 (06:44):
Yeah, let's hope that he stays healthy and then never
has to deal. You know what I'm saying. I love
to see a guy that throws it that hard, is
that good, but also stays healthy and is durable. I'd
love to see that throughout his career. Yeah, he's pretty
good him. And what's the other kid's name for the Angels,
Ben Joyce, who throws it a buck six? Yeah, fie
oh five. So yeah, let's talk about disgusting. Yeah, say,
(07:05):
in the same division, that's pretty cool. You know, just
not not a good not a good game last night.
I mean you had opportunities and and really if you
look at the box score, they were four for nine
with runners in scoring position, yet they still found a
way to lose the game. I'll take those numbers over
the ones, you know, four for nine, Yeah, just under
fifty percent, you'll take those. But they're just hitting at
(07:29):
the right time. Yeah, it's been tough on them.
Speaker 5 (07:31):
They've lost six out of their last eight. It's not
a time where you want to kind of go on
a losing street. Did the Mariners win? I saw they went.
I went to bed. They did, They did win. They
were up three to nothing when I went to sleep.
So so it's down to three and a half.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
Yeah, you know, fools better start to do recognize. Yeah,
all of us better start to recognize.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
You feel good about it?
Speaker 1 (07:52):
With no?
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Why not?
Speaker 6 (07:54):
So that ten thousand? Do you think your ten thousand
may be safe? You didn't bet well? Now?
Speaker 5 (07:59):
I mean jose Al Tuovay still got to wait and
see what's going on with him.
Speaker 6 (08:03):
If they lose him, it's it's done. You think they're done.
If they think they lose two v they're done. Yeah,
that's what you're going with. Yeah, you can't go into
the playoffs without him.
Speaker 5 (08:11):
You you want to ride that pony? You want to ride? Yeah,
you're not. Look, I'm sorry, it's hosel To in the
year that he's having. They'll overcome it. I mean they've
done everything else to overcome the at first this year?
Speaker 6 (08:22):
Who King Tuck? Okay, what did he say?
Speaker 5 (08:27):
Uh? Oh? T K said? Last night there was an
at bat where Hunter Brown fastball, fastball, fastball, good morning,
good afternoon, get good night, and he was like he
said something like, yeah, just go primal fastball right there,
Hunter Brown. And then he comes back with another one.
Speaker 6 (08:42):
He's like, look at him, primal fastball, Hunter Brown.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
That's gonna do it. He strikes out the side. Primal man.
I like, I've never heard that a broadcast Primal fastball.
I think it was pretty badass. I've never heard that
on a broadcast before. Primo mean, he's hunting dog.
Speaker 6 (08:59):
Yeah, it's like that.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (09:02):
Is that like the new way of saying go all
scorched earth? Is that if you go primal on somebody?
Is that scorts earth? Or is that just a TK thing?
I think it might be just a TK thing. The
kids aren't saying anybody talking about primal. I mean like
when Brian and I Walton the TV and stuff, you know,
watch a game and we're just like, yeah, we're going
(09:22):
primal on a football field. You know what I'm saying?
Can you go primal? Like if you're a runner, like like,
didn't did mix and go primal on him last week?
Did Mixing go primal on him last week?
Speaker 5 (09:33):
Triple? Or the kids saying primal like if you go
like if you worked where somebody out like all that
dude with Primal on him?
Speaker 9 (09:38):
What is that?
Speaker 6 (09:39):
No, I think we should start it? Give you want
to start TK? Yeah, mixing with Primal on him?
Speaker 5 (09:44):
So that one. I know you're cutting sound right now.
But Sean mentioned you know it's like when when we
roll into TV's Homecoming, like we go primal on the
on you know what I mean?
Speaker 6 (09:54):
Yeah, we just roll up yeah you know yeah, yeah,
you guys don't want none of that.
Speaker 5 (09:59):
No, that's sure.
Speaker 6 (09:59):
No, go get scared now, Yeah you got to stay easy.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
Come on out there. When is homecoming? It's like an
October or something. What happened to you?
Speaker 10 (10:13):
So?
Speaker 5 (10:13):
What like, let's say we did go out there, Tripoli,
what would you want us to wear? You know, like
like jeans, boots and a collared shirt. I look to that.
Speaker 6 (10:21):
Yeah, I'm saying I got I got TV's colors. I
got Minnesota Viking black and purple. Today, I think I'm
going there with in a tall te and a what
a tall tea? What's that like one of those big
baggy T shirts? Oh that you meane a tall tea?
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (10:35):
Tall?
Speaker 6 (10:35):
Okay, I thought there was some I know what a
tall tea is? Be purple shirt?
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Tall?
Speaker 6 (10:40):
Yeah, it's all a little longer and bigger baggy. Yes, yeah, okay,
I got you. I'm rolling up in uh uh tank top?
Rolling up, I'm going to tank top? Yeah, like like
uh like a cut off or like a tank top. No,
the like a beach community tank like sit on the porch,
(11:01):
old school text, you know those. That's what I'm doing.
I'm rolling up in that shot off the tattoos. Yeah,
get a couple of a couple of chains. Couple want
to get stack? Call me three chains instead of two?
Hell yeah, oh and I will roll up.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
What do you think you're?
Speaker 7 (11:19):
You're?
Speaker 6 (11:19):
The Fellows would say, if if that's how I think that.
Look at these two cool bastards.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
Man, you brought? You brought these dudes? Why is one
wearing a tall team the other was wearing a top
of three chains? It's fifty outside.
Speaker 6 (11:41):
I might throw a Dusty Baker wristband on to.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Your favorite.
Speaker 6 (11:49):
Yeah that's the new jersey. People are wearing jerseys. I
wear risk mug on it Man show. Do you ever
wear your jersey?
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Doe?
Speaker 5 (11:59):
But I on my face on my wristband.
Speaker 8 (12:01):
I need I got this face?
Speaker 5 (12:04):
Have you seen me?
Speaker 8 (12:10):
Tell me you would.
Speaker 11 (12:12):
Come and pick you up.
Speaker 5 (12:17):
You know I am allowed to say wife?
Speaker 6 (12:18):
Did they call that? I take that back to that
with the sixty year adults still call it because I
roll up in a wife and have three change because
I want to make sure you call me three changes
in the two change and we roll up on the
peb I come pick you up, dude, and you're looking
at me. Hell, and.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
You don't see my left arm I pulled over.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
I say, what's wrong with me?
Speaker 5 (12:43):
If you see this?
Speaker 6 (12:44):
And it's a dusty, bigger wristband with my face on.
The Ladies come up and say, man, have you seen my.
Speaker 5 (12:55):
Wrist?
Speaker 6 (12:58):
Zoy Ma, you don't want no part Ofathan.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
Just called in and said he's an alumni to as well.
He said that you guys don't know what y'all missing.
Y'all gotta get out there.
Speaker 6 (13:15):
Nathan telling me what dude, we have to know. I
think that would be fine. Triple is either gonna be cringing,
was gonna be exactly.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
I'm telling you.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
Two basic white guys even more basically than they they're doing.
Speaker 5 (13:41):
Oh, we gotta go, though.
Speaker 12 (13:44):
You'll have to come in respect on the of your homecoming.
Speaker 11 (13:51):
The picture of.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
His hand drawn like you don't even draw your own head.
Oh my gosh, yeah, great start. Yeah, Oh man, I
got some discomfort. Oh hell, all right, let's gets a break.
(14:19):
Let's talk about that discomfort for to bait next.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Let's go. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
Buffalo Bills versus Miami Dolphins in Thursday Night football in Miami.
Moon's over my Hammi's there a moon?
Speaker 9 (14:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (14:40):
There will there be a moon over my haammi tonight.
Speaker 6 (14:43):
You ever had one of those?
Speaker 5 (14:44):
Yeah? What do you think about it? It's all right?
Speaker 6 (14:47):
Where's that?
Speaker 5 (14:48):
Is that?
Speaker 6 (14:48):
An? We don't like to get free pub al right,
but Denny, that's what that's where the moon over Miami
isn't Yeah? Have you had you had your order? Give
me the moon? Or did you say give me the
moon over Miami? Just say the whole thing. I said
the whole thing. Yeah, yeah, I take your order, sir.
Would you like the moon's over my HANDI?
Speaker 5 (15:03):
Please? Okay, I would like that. Please? Thank you?
Speaker 6 (15:07):
I got you?
Speaker 5 (15:08):
Yeah? Not bad, not a bad plate, you know, Yeah,
it'll it'll do it a pitch, yeah, and a question
about it. Let's see Astros lost six at eight, lost
four in a row. Not good and uh, Jose Altuve
left the game last night. Was side discomfort? They said discomfort? Yeah,
(15:30):
that's Brian mctagger tweeted that out side discomfort.
Speaker 6 (15:39):
All right, sir, So basically that's a uh well, I'm
trying to I think it's torn oblique, not torn.
Speaker 5 (15:54):
I'm just kidding.
Speaker 6 (15:55):
But when I hear just not hear discomfort, that's the
first thing that hits egg. They makes me nervous, right, Yeah,
didn't al two they say he was okay, you're gonna
be okay. Did I think they see that? Did I,
you know, just in or maybe it was some an
article that said he expect to be okay. I don't know,
but discomfort to day to day. Maybe it was day
to day not okay. I don't know, but HM, is
(16:17):
that basically how we're doing this. He's a he's a
day to day guy.
Speaker 5 (16:20):
Yeah. We actually we have some Hose alt A audio
him talking about his injuries. This is alto after the game.
Speaker 8 (16:26):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (16:27):
I tell you tomorrow, Like sometimes you have to wait
until the next day and see how you feel.
Speaker 6 (16:32):
Okay, nice and brief about the truth is said, I'll
tell you tomorrow.
Speaker 8 (16:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
I like it. I don't either, especially at this time
of year.
Speaker 5 (16:41):
Mm. Yeah, And speaking of that timing, this is alto
ve talking about getting closer to October.
Speaker 10 (16:50):
Yeah, like I said, I'm not really worried. Like I said, uh,
maybe I just wake up tomorrow and then good to go.
So we don't really want to take any decisions to
because they're not normally in the injury your way until
next day and say how you feel.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
M mm hmmm.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
I don't know how to read that. I don't either,
But but he's exactly right. Why jump to conclusions just
in truth, aren't you? We just got to we got
he does got to see how I feel today, right,
I mean, I know that sounds so generic and cliche,
but alse can what if he does wake up say
oh I was a little discom good and I can
swing aboat. I can, I would doubt because even if
(17:30):
he does feel good, you say, now we got to
give him a rest, especially on a it's a day
game thing game, Yeah, after a night game, and that
I wouldn't expect to see him. And the truth of
the matter is, well, it's three and a half games.
That makes you, like you said, a little nervous. But
I'd rather have him one hundred percent healthy in the
postseason than eighty five percent healthy. Now, wouldn't you play absolutely?
(17:53):
He just got a dubond can do to fill in
and do a fine job.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
So, but these can't keep adding up. I how do
you keep overcoming this? Where how many times this year
have they had their best lineup in ten games in
a row? Eight games in a row? Maybe seems like
twice maybe, Okay, Yeah, I'm just cares how many times Bregman, now,
tu Ve, Tucker, Jordan, Dias and Payna been in the
(18:21):
same lineup and maybe it's twenty five or fifty, I
don't know, but just doing the mouth on Tucker's misses
what he missed almost eighty games in the seventies or
whatever it was. And you know, Bregman has missed time
off and on now two Ve has been pretty durable
this year, Paynya has been in the lineup. Dias has
played other than what one little small what he was
(18:43):
he banged up for one minute this year, but it
was the last year. I don't even he hadn't missed
many games the injury at all, right, yeah, just days off. Yeah,
So I'm just curious how many times, and then hell,
their pitching staff, they haven't had their you know, with
with those four guys that have been injured and stuff,
or five with JP Prance makes five, right, it's and
how they can continue to do this. But what you
(19:05):
can't have is a Tucker trying to get right and
al two ve not right because of an injury heading
into the postseason. I mean it's tough enough overcoming Kyle
Tucker and playing like they've played, but you add a
second guy to it who's not healthy, and Tucker still
trying to round into some kind of form where it
gets his timing down that that that puts you in
a hell of a disadvantage, man really does, and Verlanders
(19:27):
still laboring yep, I mean it it puts you in
a bad way. And they're three and a half in
front of the first place, right, but it's starting to
get it. It's at nut cutting time point, right, it
really is. Yeah, And with them being you know, just
three and a half out, like you can't afford to
lose how Jose al tuv for a couple of weeks
like this is the big stretch, seventeen eighteen games left,
(19:50):
whatever it is, I mean, it's it's this is like
you said, it's a nutcutting time. Yeah, and the truth
is too And you can't. While they've played well, you
still can't let them. I'm in Oakland and you know
they've been on a roll right, swinging the bat and stuff.
But you can't let them waltz into your building and
take three from it. You can't get this to you
just can't. You have to find a way to win.
I don't care if I don't care if it's Baltimore
else and they didn't and they've played well against good
(20:11):
teams now, the way the A's are playing, If the
A's played like this all year long, they're a playoff team. Yeah,
I mean, I mean, as a matter of fact, not
only a playoff team. They're battling there. If they played
like this the whole year, you're looking at a whole
they may be the ones not Seattle dealing with the Astros,
right the way they've played now to sustain it for
a full year and all that stuff, But they've done
(20:31):
some and they're disrupting the division.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
Right. If you're not.
Speaker 6 (20:34):
Gonna make it, don't you want to just say, well,
they will just man handle everybody and just keep We'll
go into the postseason and leave Oakland feeling pretty damn
good where they're playing a Sacramento next year. All right, So, uh,
the fact that they just you know, play their ass
off and the a the Astros, you just can't it
wouldn't matter. But the Astros have been really good against
(20:55):
good teams, and at this stage you would consider the
A's a good team. So I can't fathom that the
way the A's have played the Astros waltz near. I mean,
came home and thought this will be easy, right after
their previous series and the like, oh we got this,
Well yeah, I would imagine you got it. But now
the series is over, I meaning you lose the series.
Now you got to salvage a game and three and
(21:16):
a half's a little too close for comfort. And didn't
we see this movie last year? Yeah, and it wasten.
Now this was going on where you're like, how are
we losing to these these teams? And then you go
win five out of six to get in. But same movie,
similar circumstances. You get them. See the Mariners, you just
you're seeing the A's. Now the Mariners will don't the
Arizona Diamondbacks they got them when they've already got them
with Arizona. They don't get him again, right, No, they don't,
(21:38):
just had them this time. So they got San San Diego.
Are they getting the Rangers anymore? They they got the
Rangers again. Oh no, I'm sorry, they're done with the Rangers.
They have LA two more times and then the Angels.
They've got the Dodgers Angels. Sorry, so Angels Angels manager.
So it goes Oakland today, yep.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
Then three with Los Angeles Angels, then three with San Diego,
four with Los Angeles, three with Seattle, three with Cleveland.
Speaker 6 (22:02):
So seven more with the Angels. Yes, favorable, Yeah, favorable.
Well we thought favorable with the open Iteletic's exactly right.
That's the problem paper it says favorable, right, Yeah, they
got to figure it out.
Speaker 5 (22:14):
Man. And losing uh, losing jose Al Twova for a
couple of weeks or whatever. Hopefully it's not that bad.

is the skipper after the game.
Speaker 13 (23:49):
He is, he's in the training one, getting some treatment.
Just got a real right side these comfort But you know,
I'm not really concerned right now.
Speaker 8 (24:00):
She's good.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
Okay, Well, Alto said he's not really concerned. He'll see
how he feels today. Joey Espada also not concerned. Why
am I not buying it?
Speaker 7 (24:13):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (24:13):
Did you call him Joey?
Speaker 5 (24:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (24:15):
I did you call him Joey Espada? Joe Yeah. The
Uh they're concerned. How can you not be? Yeah, it's
getting too close to the end of the season. Of
course you're concerned. You got your leadoff guy who's hitting
over three hundred and playing good baseball. I mean, why
wouldn't you be concerned?
Speaker 5 (24:33):
Now?
Speaker 6 (24:34):
A panicked different story? Hell, are you not concerned? I'm
very concerned? Actually, I mean, do you have one thing
we didn't really say is what happens? Think about this
though for a second, is you have the al twov
thing AL two L two v Altuve and then you
go over to to the uh Bregmann situation and it's
(24:56):
day to day. Dana Brown said, yes, say you don't
know when that's gonna flare up.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (25:01):
Kyle Tucker still finding his way through his injury to
get his timing.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
Down, still hasn't played the outfield, only the aching.
Speaker 6 (25:06):
Those are guys. Those are four guys that are hitting
in your first three spots. Yeah, three are your first
four spots.
Speaker 8 (25:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (25:13):
And you're oh, I'm still concerned about Bregman's full health
and his ability to do what he wants to do
in the postseason and down the stretch to make sure
he's fully healthy to play the great third base that
he wants to that doesn't require some offseason surgery. But
also that his bat speed that it's not doing anything
to you know, control how quick he is do the
hitting zone and doing his thing.
Speaker 8 (25:32):
Yeah, how do you come on?
Speaker 5 (25:35):
Man?
Speaker 6 (25:36):
The only thing missing from that is that Jordan decides
to miss the team bus for like thirteen fourteen games. Okay,
we can't afford that either.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
Oh you can't.
Speaker 6 (25:43):
So yeah, it's they always they got to show that
face and that's their job.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Way.
Speaker 6 (25:48):
We got good players, you always want to make sure
that's okay. We got guys who play out right field,
got a guy who play third base. We got a
guy who plays second base. But the truth is, you're
not fooling the guys in the clubhouse, you know, I
mean trying to, but it's almost the reverse. By college,
we're gonna be okay and expect guys to step their
game up and do it. But when you got three
of your core players, ones recovering, ones in the middle
(26:08):
of it and just dealing with it every day, and
the other one we don't know about, and they're all
you're in top five hitters in your line up, top
four hitters in your line If you're like, okay, then
I mean you go from good depth to damn, where's
our depth overnight? So yeah, I would expect them, judging
by this year, that they'll plod along and find ways
(26:31):
to win. But it's going to be hard to beat
great teams in the postseason if you're going in limping
and you don't want to limp in. I'm not just
talking about record wise. I'm talking about limping injury wise
and hurt wise. Hard to get through. It's tough enough
to win when you're healthy.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
Yeah, and I know that Chas McCormick hasn't had a
good year, but he mas chas another one.
Speaker 6 (26:47):
Ed what's the depth problem? Yeah, good thing he went
out and got Jason Hayward.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
Ben Gamble will obviously continuing to play because of Kyle
Tucker making his way back, still hasn't played the outf
for like I said a parent, only he could play
the outfield in Los Angeles this weekend.
Speaker 6 (27:04):
You're taking a bit of you're taking a bit of
a gamble by putting him out there, meaning Tucker.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
With you, right, like Ben Gamble taking a gamble. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (27:15):
But and so okay, if you're not seeing him on
a daily basis in right field, what does that.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
Tell you it's not healthy enough to play right field?
Speaker 6 (27:24):
They are just feeling just getting stronger, and yeah, so
there's some things to be concerned about.
Speaker 5 (27:30):
I am. I do.
Speaker 6 (27:31):
I think I'm they're gonna win the division.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
I do, But.
Speaker 6 (27:35):
The news that comes down about Alto, they would be
really nice. If it's you're just gonna take a day
or two off, you'd be back fully ready to go,
already taking batting practice, you know. I mean, did we
hear that in two days? That'd be great? You know,
think they're gonna win it all?
Speaker 5 (27:49):
Do you win it all?
Speaker 6 (27:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (27:51):
Lies in the World Series?
Speaker 6 (27:53):
Does that say all?
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Well?
Speaker 6 (27:54):
I thought you could be talking about the division that's
not winning at all?
Speaker 5 (27:58):
Winning the division or what a Dana Brown tell first?
First things first, you.
Speaker 6 (28:01):
Can't win it all, but you can win it all
without winning the division?
Speaker 5 (28:03):
True point?
Speaker 6 (28:04):
Do you feel me?
Speaker 5 (28:05):
I don't. I don't think they're gonna win win it all?
Speaker 6 (28:07):
You don't. No, Will it be pitching or hitting that
gets them eliminated? Our lack thereof manager decisions? Really no,
I'm just kidding. I would think it's gonna be lack
of runners in scoring position. I mean bringing them home.
Speaker 5 (28:25):
Yeah, bringing them home, That's what concerns me. Pitching in
the in the playoffs is such a different animal.
Speaker 6 (28:31):
Can you imagine though, going in and saying, yeah, we're
down five starters and pitchers, and one of them still
to Verland are trying to find his way back, trying
to figure it out and and we're sitting here saying
pitching is not an issue, right and in truth I mean,
but in truth, you know, why not worry about Hunter
Brown or Cacouchi or fromber right now at all? No,
So it really isn't an issue. They've pitched their ass off.
(28:56):
Five starters, well, four starters and one who's a spot
starter and been last year was a big part of
getting this team through depth problems and a pitching staff
in JP France, pitching is not a problem. Yeah, think
about that, especially in the in getting to the playoffs.
The lease is so short. Anyways, you got a Spencer
Araghetti who I think's got really really good star type ability.
(29:19):
They may not even get a start in the postseason.
And that's with five cats hurt. Come on, man, yeah, wait,
I understand what we You know, you still want to
win it all in your our expectations for him, But
in most cities, after all this happened, the expectations wouldn't
be World Series, right, and you know what they are here?
Speaker 5 (29:39):
Yeah, still, it's crazy, it sure is real. Quick we
talked about the Oakland Athletics and what they've done in
the second half. They're twenty six and twenty one in
the second half, when they went thirty seven and sixty
one in the first half.
Speaker 6 (29:50):
Yeah, do you how does that happen?
Speaker 5 (29:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
How do you figure it out like that to the
point where it's like you're just a completely different ball clubs?
The trip, isn't it?
Speaker 5 (29:58):
They played like this in the second half, or if
they've played like this in the first half, the way
they're playing in the second half, they would be basically
right there with the Houston Astros. Houston Astros are seventy
seven and sixty eight, so they're what nine games above
five hundred, so they would literally be right there.
Speaker 6 (30:14):
I was gonna say they'd be the team that I mean,
they'd be giving the Mariners all they could handle and
the Astros battling for the division. Whether they turned it
around in a hurry, whatever it is, it clicks into
some teams. It's crazy how whether it's relaxation or they
not that they don't care. You know that feeling of
when you don't care but you do care, You're just like, Okay,
I'm gonna let a rip.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
Man.
Speaker 6 (30:34):
Well, you're not playing uptight, playing not to lose, right, Yeah,
And if Oakland. Well they got to lose, But another game,
they're leaving a city, they're going. Nobody's showing up to
the ballpark and they're playing there. They're raking and playing
their ass off. Good on them. I just hate the
fact that right now it's at the expense of the
Houston Astros for two.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
In a row. Yeah, they're trying to sweep today.
Speaker 8 (30:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (30:52):
Seeing the movie Crazy, Yep.
Speaker 5 (30:54):
You want to look at the back of the baseball card,
I do win.
Speaker 6 (30:56):
His career's over.
Speaker 5 (30:58):
You want to talk about the back of the baseball card.
Speaker 6 (30:59):
No, but I'd like to talk about tradition and well okay, yeah,
I like talking about trade and wealth because if you
get a good baseball card and down the road, the
back of the baseball card may mean that it's a
mint condition card. So what do you do you invest it?
Speaker 7 (31:10):
Right?
Speaker 6 (31:11):
Oh, and then who comes into play? How about your
wealth advisor tras wealth right TRAJA and local trusted fiduciary,
financial fiduciary right here in Houston that as a fiduciary,
their priorities. You listen, We do everything we can to
protect the football in sports. Don't turn it over, don't
jump off sides, don't throw interceptions because when you do,
you put your team in a mind. Well, isn't that
(31:33):
the same for retirement, whether you're thirty five or sixty
or whenever you decide. I need to get my investment
portfolio and my diversify whatever I need to do to
put myself in position to have peace of mind and
security in retirement. So my family and we're taken care of,
so I have enough money to retire and can stay
retired and don't have to stress through retirement. You've worked
all your life to get to the point where you
(31:55):
have some freedom and some peace of mind. And things change.
The market's up and down every day. It's volatile. You
know how that goes. So if you don't have a
good wealth advisor answering your questions or leading you or
side by side with you, how in the world can
you navigate your retirement? If you want to turn the
ball over, you're not gonna win many championships in retirement.
If you turn the ball over and lay it on
(32:15):
the ground and don't have somebody like Trajan wealth with you,
you may not be able to stay in retirement. So
let's get that handled. Just gimm a call. Three four

on iHeart.
Speaker 5 (33:02):
Astros have lost six out of their last eight. Jose
Al Tuve leaving the game last night with right side discomfort.
Chas McCormick has a fracture in his hand. He's going
on the IL. Justin Verlander trying to figure it out.
Uh just I mean this time of year with you know,
(33:24):
let's see it's one, two, three, four, five series left,
it's not ideal. And yesterday we had Astros general manager
Dana Brown on the show, as we do every single Wednesday.
A nine thirty five missed It's on our blog at
sports seven ninety dot com.
Speaker 9 (33:40):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (33:41):
He mentioned back in the baseball card. John again in
regards to Justin Verlander, struggled in his four starts. I
think he's got over a nine ERA and Dana Brown said,
you know, talked about the velocity being up for Justin Verline,
but the command being off. And then he said, pay
(34:01):
attention to the back of his baseball card. Well, why
do we continue to use that phrase?
Speaker 6 (34:09):
I guess it's there. It's a way of buying more
time for him. I mean, which would be just as
easy to say, we're just, you know, gonna wait it
out and see how he does. He's been We've seen
him for years do great things, and we'll see if
he's ready and we get three or four more starts
and we can make judgment in But on the back
(34:30):
of the baseball card thing, it's one of the most
annoying thing for people, as you see on Twitter. Oh yeah,
it's something they don't like, and but it's it's like antagonizing, right,
But you know, the Dan has done some phenomenal things
with this team this year. He really has, and so
is Joe a spotted But yeah, the back of the
(34:52):
baseball card, I'm hoping isn't going to be a reason
they make any decision. Maybe at the end of the year,
back of the baseball card. Listen, he still got some
in the tank, let's keep him. Okay, great, but when
it comes to performance, the back of the baseball card
has not Because what would your answer be if you
got beaten a playoff game and started him, and then
(35:14):
you say, why did you start him? The results leading
into this have been just saying, let's say it continues
like it has and then you start him in game
three of a playoff series and you get hammered, and
your answer is then you say, oh, the back of
the baseball card totals he should have started. Then you'll
have It's going to be like a damn break of irritation, right,
(35:36):
so you can't. I don't think good teams, in good
front offs people actually make decisions when it's matters based
on the back of a baseball card. I think what
it is a way of saying, the reason why he's
still out there is because his experience and history here
and as a major league pitcher, we've got to ride
it out and in truth, trying to rest people. They
don't have a lot of bodies there to to keep
(35:58):
you know, moving people around. Right, Yeah, it's not like
you got a surplus. Hey, we've got four other cats
we can just start, But no, those five of them
are sitting on the on the aisle camp play. So yeah,
it's nobody wants to hear the back of the baseball
card in making decisions, the back of the baseball courts
for retirement when we congratulate you on a phenomenal career.
Speaker 5 (36:21):
In his case, are we really in a world where
we are going to be paying that close of attention
to the next three starts for Justin Verlander to see
if he's actually going to pitch in the postseason assuming
they win the division, get in.
Speaker 6 (36:35):
I think that's reality.
Speaker 5 (36:36):
It's crazy.
Speaker 6 (36:37):
I think that is reality.
Speaker 5 (36:38):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (36:39):
I don't think it's like, are we really in a way?
I think that's flat ass reality. If it wasn't, you
wouldn't pitch him, right you just hell, well, you can
roll the role force Whitley into the start. I don't
know who you know? Of course not right, So you
wouldn't pitch him. You are hoping to validate him being
ready as a start in the postseason that the next
three starts, he's lights out. Then the decisions easy. Yeah,
(37:00):
it's how easy, is it? Because what are you gonna
do tell one of those other cats, well, the third
starter is not you because at the back of his
baseball card and he's pitched well the next three starts.
But at least it gives you a little latitude. Right now,
if it started today, I don't think there is a
decision am I right? You can't make the decision today.
You couldn't say today, yeah, you couldn't say, hey, oh yeah,
(37:21):
he's in the starting rotation today after what you've seen
because of the back of the baseball card. No, you
couldn't do that because people, what are you talking about?
And we all want to believe that he's going to
pitch his way out of that if it was the
single elimination game, that he'd be ready to go. But
performance tells you the back of the baseball card can't
be viewed on this one. You just can't do it.
(37:41):
So of course they're going to give it three because
if you want him in the starting rotation, you have
to The optics are gonna matter, right, not only to
them because I mean they're around it every day, but
even just to fans. All those fans aren't making the decision.
It'd be a hard sell right now saying starting game
two or Game three of the postseason. Can't do it
right right now, and it's sure as hell can't be
(38:03):
for the easter.
Speaker 5 (38:03):
Spring eas in spring training mode.
Speaker 6 (38:05):
Well, he's got three three starts to get out of it,
and if he doesn't, then he's a spot starter. Come
in long relief because I know three guys. You can't
put him in front of As much as I love
justin Berlin, that's just the reality of the situation right now.
But do you think they actually have the good all
to pull that off? Yeah, to look him in the
face and say it. I don't know that. Let's see
(38:28):
see right now if it's fit. I'll tell you what
would keep him in What would when you when you
hear him say ninety seven miles an hour? Yeah, you
know that he touched it high ninety six a couple times.
Whatever it was that that would that may validate say
he'll get the command because that's who justin Verlanders. But
at least he's not doing ninety two right So I
think there's a legitimate chance it's going to be hard
(38:49):
for them to stare him in the face and say,
can't put you in the first three and to be hey,
walking up, Hey Justin could come see us? But Joe
like talk, Yeah, not going to start you excuse me?
Oh yeah, Do I think it's gonna be tough to do? Yes,
But the truth is, if it started tomorrow, you have
no choice. No, no, not at all. It's not a choice.
(39:10):
Now they're hoping the next three games make it to
where when we're looking at it, somebody says who should
start and say, well, considering his career, the back of
the baseball card and how he's gone these last three games,
start him. I trust his veteran leadership, and if he
goes bad in two innings, well then bringing Spencer Araghetti
or bringing Kokuchi and let's go that.
Speaker 5 (39:29):
I could see, no doubt.
Speaker 6 (39:31):
But there has to be some semblance aside from velocity
of getting people out and pitching better. Yeah, regardless of
his career.
Speaker 5 (39:39):
Yeah, because if the playoffs started today, the Ashes would
be in the wild card. That's a three game series.
You're not starting him. He's not one of your three starters.
No series.
Speaker 6 (39:47):
No, it goes lefty, righty, lefty, right fromber Brown and Kokuchi. Yeahucci,
you want the best chance to win there, you got it. Yeah,
at least today.
Speaker 5 (39:55):
Right that started today? That Al West divisionally down to
three and a half games. Let's look at the division
and what the Mariners have today as the Ashles look
to avoid this sweek. We'll talk about it next as

left the game last night with right side disc for
Chas McCormick had some imaging done.
Speaker 5 (41:02):
He has a fracture in his hand. He's going to
be headed to the IL seven seven and he is
the number to join. Stuctor Rob Rob Welcome in good morning,
Good morning, Jens.
Speaker 14 (41:13):
I'm calling you guys a little bit earlier than I
normally do, because as much as I respect Dana and
I like pretty much everything else that he's done, the
back of the baseball card that has an expiration date
on it, and JV hit it a year ago. Like
I get it for some guys. I get it for
(41:35):
guys that are coming into their prime. I get it
for guys that are coming into their age thirty or
age thirty two season. But uh, you know, when you're
when you're forty plus, you've had multiple surgeries. I don't
know many back of the baseball cards that go over
the age of forty where that is still a valid argument.
I mean, case in point, Jose Brayew. You're talking about
(41:56):
a guy that was an MVP winner multiple seasons, over
three hundred and thirty home runs, his back of the
baseball card ended prior to his age forty.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
I mean, in this in my generation.
Speaker 14 (42:09):
The very the handful of guys that I can think
of that lasted that long, Jamie Moyer, Nolan Ryan, you know,
Julio Franco, maybe a handful of others. But JV has
paid his dues he's done his time, and as far
as that conversation goes, that's that's one where you know,
(42:30):
as a manager, you cannot let the player, regardless of
what he's done, dominate that conversation just because of his name.
You've got to keep it short, simple, Like Billy Bean said,
you know, they're they're ballplayers, they're professional ballplayers. Give them facts, JV.
We're coming into the postseason. We've got six guys. We're
gonna go with the five man rotation, and when it
(42:51):
comes right down to it, let's look at your last three,
four or five starts, whatever it is. The facts are
the facts. It's black and white, stick to the paper
and that it's all of it.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
You don't give him an argument.
Speaker 14 (43:01):
You let the numbers speak for himself. JV has always
let his numbers do the talking for him. And when
that argument goes out the window, there's nothing left to
argue with. I love JV, and I want nothing more
for him to be who he.
Speaker 5 (43:15):
Used to be and do what he used to do.
Speaker 14 (43:17):
But you cannot take that chance going in to a postseason,
to a wild card postseason at that That's.
Speaker 5 (43:24):
All I got, Rob, good point, man.
Speaker 6 (43:26):
I and if you're gonna go by, well, the back
of the baseball card is why we're keeping him, or
you know that this is why we're having this difficulty
making the decision. Then guess what you also got. Isn't
the the metrics of his performance of if his numbers.
Isn't that the front of the baseball card that says
you can't do it?
Speaker 8 (43:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (43:46):
Right, yeah, that's the current part. When you see first
front of you and open up the bubble Government's baseball
card there, Daniel show to the front, right, yeah, and
we're at the point now where now listen, if he
goes on a roll the next three and in the
confidence is rolling velocities and the living in the middle
and mid nineties and then touching ninety seven and then
and there's movement and he's getting people out and swinging
miss keeping the ball in the ballpark, which you know
(44:08):
he's a fly ball pitcher anyway, but he keeping the
ball in the ballpark, not walking people, and pitching into
the sixth inning the next three starts. Let's go I
would rae hell, yeah, I'm not. I love the guy too,
but the sheer numbers alone. If you're if you're going
by numbers. Of the reason why you're considering him the
numbers recently is why you shouldn't be. But I'm all
(44:31):
in one hundred percent on let me see the next
three starts that part of the baseball card he has earned. Yeah,
and the depth and the pitching injuries, he has definitely
earned the right to get right the next three weeks. Now,
with that in mind, if he doesn't, you don't owe
anybody in apology, not him to them and not them
(44:53):
to him.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
Right now in the first series.
Speaker 6 (44:56):
Here's what's got to change now with things may change
in a longer s who knows, right, you just got it.
You just can't do it. And it's not a matter
of we're asking if it's okay. It's a matter of
you just you're the player, and as much as we
respect you, if that doesn't get better, we got to
give ourselves the best chance to win. So and he's
a pro, he'll handle it. But it's the next three
(45:18):
he's he's on the right to give me more starts
to finish this thing. But the performance may not give
earned him the opportunity of a right to start a
game in the postseason, at least the first series.
Speaker 5 (45:28):
He knows well, and it's.
Speaker 6 (45:31):
No apology needed. It's pro sports man, it's the way
it works.
Speaker 5 (45:33):
It's a business, yes, But also on that same sentiment,
the Asher still got to get to the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (45:40):
There's three and a half, okay, three and.
Speaker 5 (45:42):
A half ahead of the Mariners right now, correct.
Speaker 6 (45:45):
You know they're trying to rotate between the six and
five man rotation. Get your self right. So he goes
to the start, and let's say it gets five and
two thirds and is is mid pitches okay at times
and looks good other times, and and you're two and
a half out. Then his next start comes up or
two and a half in front. Should I say, you
(46:07):
gotta look him in the face and and a guy
who's been in the league that long and say, we're
skipping you for well, calling up so and so, we're
moving you back in the rotations, jumping in front of you.
Now now that that that might even be harder to do,
they're not going to do that, of course they're not.
So the decision will not be made to the postseason.
(46:29):
You're getting minimum of three more starts if he's healthy,
and I'm all for that. Now once playoff, if I
see what I've seen the last three three, two or
three starts the minor league, and this guess what it's
it's it's gonna be really hard for you to run
him out there in the first three games, considering the
other three have just pitched better. Cookuchi's pitched well every game,
(46:50):
and he's had a couple of words at five innings.
You know most of me, well, first three or four
starts he lived in five. But the success and the
strikeouts and the swinging miss, he's been really good. Hunter
Brown is a no brainer. And Fromber's been as good
as any left hander in baseball. Second, I mean the
last what five, six, seven starts, whatever, it's been. So
the decision and even if you know, if you think
JV's JV has proven that he could start you going
(47:14):
to Kokuche and saying you're not the way you've pitched.
You ain't telling Hunter Brown or from for that.
Speaker 5 (47:19):
No.
Speaker 6 (47:19):
So, while I know the veterans there, there is no
when they say, well, that's disrespecting a veteran. No, No,
it's actually not.
Speaker 5 (47:26):
You respect him.
Speaker 6 (47:27):
The fact right now, okay, third year guy pitching like that,
you've already got him in the bullpen. You've already decided.
You know what, let's go get right somewhere else. Right, Yeah,
the back of the baseball card has earned him these
next three starts, but it not earned him a postseason start,
no matter how much I love him and you love him,
and how good he is, because what you'd be saying
(47:50):
is he is more important than all of you us. Yeah,
can't do it, No, you can't. Sends a wrong message,
even though the players, if you said, can JV started Hell, yeah,
rally around them. Of course they will, and they should,
but you're gonna take that out of their hands if
the performance itself. They're just hoping the performance makes the
decision easy one way or the other. Now we know
(48:12):
which way they want it. They what they do want
is him to pitch great and be forced so though gosh,
you are fourth guy's you're a third guy, they don't
want it the other way. We're losing not pitching well. Now,
that would make the decision easier, but getting to the
postseason is gonna be a lot tougher if he pitches
three bad games. So that's the quandary. You're in good
word too, right, you like it?
Speaker 5 (48:31):
Yeah? Do we have a quagmire? Quagmires and family guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6 (48:38):
What is that a quagmire? Do you know the exact
definition of quagmire? You're gonna look it up. I mean,
I can get it. You gotta get it. Is quagmire,
quag quagmire, and they do not want you to use it.
I think it's isn't it? Q u a g quag
m I r E give me the definition.
Speaker 5 (48:58):
A quagmire is a song off the boggy area of
land that gives way underfoot, or it can be also
known as an awkward complex or hazardous, hazardous, hazardous, hazardous, hazardous,
holy dog hazard is hazardous situation, awkward complex, or hazardous situation.
Speaker 6 (49:18):
So basically, the to use it in a sentence, it
would be the Astros are going to face a quagmire
if Verlander doesn't pitch better.
Speaker 5 (49:29):
Yeah, it's gonna be awkward. There's no doubt.
Speaker 6 (49:32):
Well here you say it, just say it. Quagmire, quagmire. Yeah,
that was say hazardous. Can't believe I.
Speaker 5 (49:42):
Couldn't get out, bitch is hazardous? I couldn't get that out?
Speaker 9 (49:47):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (49:48):
Seattle Mariners open up a series tonight against the Texas Rangers.
Kumar Rocker gonna throw for the Rangers. Jacob de Gram
also making his say season debut tomorrow on Friday, and
the Max Sures are uh for the Rangers on Saturday.
There you go, Rock.
Speaker 6 (50:04):
You know, I'm sure you don't root for the Rangers
very often. Oh, you sure don't. But here we are. Yeah,
it's gonna be rooting for the Rangers. Yes, what bikes?
Speaker 5 (50:13):
All right, let's get to the steak out next right
here on Sports Talk seven to eighty.
Speaker 11 (50:17):
We want to win.
Speaker 4 (50:19):
Sean Salisbury continues on seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (50:25):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?
Speaker 4 (50:28):
The Salisbury Stakeout, Salisbury Takeout on the.
Speaker 6 (50:33):
Sean Salisbury Show. It's time for the steak out here
on the Shawn Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (50:37):
Sean Brown and TRIPLEI Astros Oakland Athletics one ten. The
first pitch today over at Minima Park. Noon on Deck
Show right here on seven on your Home for Astros Baseball,
Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills tonight and Thursday Night football before
it gets the steak out seven one, three, two, two, five, seven.
I ain you talking about the Astros. Tom welcome in.
Speaker 15 (50:57):
Good morning, guys. We're getting down to Tonedy greedy with
it strows, aren't we? Hey guys, you.
Speaker 16 (51:03):
Know I've said all season long, and I think this
is going to be their final season. If you'll allow me,
I'll give you a little bit more of why I
think that they're going to be. Okay, if you took
the number eighteen and you're multiplied it by nine, you'd
get one hundred.
Speaker 17 (51:18):
And sixty two.
Speaker 16 (51:20):
So in astence, what we're looking at for every major
league team is nine stretches during the season of eighteen games.
That's a good sample size. That's three weeks of baseball.
You can get to see all.
Speaker 15 (51:33):
The wards or all the stars that that team can
put on the field. Let's look at what the Astros.
Speaker 16 (51:40):
Have done in the last eight runs of eighteen games.
Speaker 15 (51:45):
We know they.
Speaker 16 (51:45):
Started the first eighteen at six and twelve, and then
they went the second eighteen six and twelve. Then they
turned it around and they went twelve and six, and
they kept going turn it around. After the twelve sixth
they had a little bit.
Speaker 15 (52:02):
Of a bunk. They went nine and nine.
Speaker 16 (52:05):
In the fifth one they went thirteen and five, and
then in the sixth, ten and eighth. In the seventh
they went twelve and sixth again, and now in the
eighth that they just completed before the start against the Age,
they went nine and nine. So they've been at five
hundred for over five hundred in those eighteen game stretches
(52:29):
since they were twelve and twenty four in the first
thirty sixth of the season. Now I've said to you,
and like I started this phone call, that this is
going to be their finest season.
Speaker 15 (52:41):
That's why I feel this way.
Speaker 16 (52:44):
Now, they got sixteen games to go, and they're not
starting out in the last eighteen too good. But we've
seen their sample size with all of the problems they've had.
Speaker 15 (52:56):
We're kicking. Remember in spring training we said we they
have this pitching.
Speaker 16 (53:01):
Well I'm still there, okay. So I believe they're gonna
be the team we need them to believe to be.
They're gonna win the division and once that happens, who
knows what's gonna happen in the playoffs. But that's how
I feel about the team. But I want to leave
you with one more thing.
Speaker 15 (53:16):
To think about.
Speaker 16 (53:17):
If you took the Orioles, the Yankees, the Dodgers, the Phillies,
and the Guardians and you said to them, you're gonna
lose Judge for seventy nine games. You're gonna lose o'tani
for seventy nine games, and so on and so forth.
Would they have gone more than nine and thirty like
(53:37):
the Astros did without Tucker?
Speaker 15 (53:40):
I don't know. Maybe they would have. We don't have
to know that.
Speaker 16 (53:44):
Well, we know the Astros did, which is why I
say this is gonna be their finest season.
Speaker 15 (53:50):
You gotta believe, baby.
Speaker 16 (53:51):
I still think they're gonna do it once you get
in the playoffs and jay Z who knows what's gonna happen.
I think Jav's probably running out of time, and I
think the pitching will get us go on where we
want to go.
Speaker 15 (54:03):
So let's believe it, hop fans. What do you think,
you guy guys?
Speaker 6 (54:06):
I think, all right, that's great breakdown. You know when
you break it down in eighteen game increments, which is
is that that's about a little less than a month
of baseball, right, so three weeks of it, as Tom said,
and they've had some good months and this has not
been there, whether five hundred this month he said, and
these then this eighteen game stretch, I mean, and now
(54:28):
you got a bunch more to what eighteen more to
finish up? Right, So there you go, and I think
that's a great breakdown, and Tom's positivity is right, and
you're in a phenomenal situation. And Tom, I'll answer this.
If you lose Nola Harper and I don't care pick
(54:48):
a Trey Turner this use those three. No, they're not
the same. Or Schwarber in there. If you lose, if
you judge Soto and you know their best pitcher, or
lose Nestra Quartet, let's just throw him a they're not
the same. If the Dodgers lose O Tawni bets they
lost bets in Freddie Freeman or a pitcher in those two,
Hell no, they're not the same. So you're right, and
(55:08):
were the Astros. Maybe not the same, but they're still
three and a half in front of first place, right,
still leading the division. That's exactly right, Still leading the division.
So talk to Darryl Daryl, what's happening?
Speaker 17 (55:20):
Hey, good one of guys. Man, there are not thirty
teams in Major League Baseball. There's thirty one teams. You
got the twenty nine teams outside of Houston, and then
you got two teams in Houston, Astros number one and
Astro's number two, and man, we saw Astros number two again.
I don't understand how on earth this team cannot hit
a baseball against a four team. And I know the
(55:42):
pitcher in the base is pretty decent, but this is
I mean, which team's going to show up?
Speaker 15 (55:47):
Which night?
Speaker 17 (55:48):
You got two of them? Jovan is crazy?
Speaker 6 (55:50):
Man, Hey, hey, Daryl, let me ask you this, and
you were one hundred percent right. There's a little bit
of a you know, the the what are we the
doctor Juckel mister Hyde type of team, but there's still
three and a half. At one point, it was ever
a time this season, Daryl, where you said this, this
ain't the year. I'm just curious, how was there ever
(56:13):
a time I know we talked to you often, but
was there ever a time when you're, like, guys, when
you're with your buddies having a beer with that not
is this team's not it that you never thought they'd
be back in first place? Was there ever time this
year you thought.
Speaker 17 (56:24):
That because of so early the poor start. Yeah, that
feeling came over over us all, I think for a
little bit, but then you realize that's still early in
the season. They can pull it out, right, and they're
doing it, you know right right, I mean I think
they had a little bit of it.
Speaker 6 (56:39):
If I gave you a thousand bucks when they were
you know, that time we were all going through Darrell.
You know, we've all discussed this and talked, you know,
heading into let's say early July, late June, and I'd
have said a thousand let's bet a thousand bucks, I say,
with less, with fifteen games to go, they'll be three
and a half, four and a half in front of
first place. Would you have taken the bet the Astros?
(57:01):
Would you just said to hail Sean with all these injuries,
No way, what would you just said?
Speaker 1 (57:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 17 (57:06):
I mean it would be a tough, tough bet to
take for sure, right.
Speaker 6 (57:09):
And I'm with you one hundred everything you said, spot
on the jekyl and hide stuff. Yet think about this,
they're three and a half. Can you would you rather
be the mariners of the Astros even with all this
gone on? You know what I'm saying, Well, we all
have this. Oh my gosh, they drive us crazy with
this up and down and against bad teams and the
runners in scoring position, they can't drive them in to
clutch it and they're three and a half in front
(57:31):
of the first place with all this still.
Speaker 5 (57:33):
Still it's theirs to lose.
Speaker 6 (57:36):
It's amazing, and it's been a When I say phenomenal,
it's been a it's been a strange season, but it's
been quite remarkable considering what they've been through, don't you.
Speaker 17 (57:45):
Agree, considering their pasto It is an interesting thing that
they've made it this far, but that doesn't mean that
we ought to accept it. And I agree at least
we're not as bad as the Mariner right in their position.
Speaker 6 (57:59):
I am with you.
Speaker 17 (58:00):
I want to jump based upon other teams. I don't
care about the other teams.
Speaker 6 (58:03):
Well, your expectations are world series right, and agreed. It's
just with all these sometimes I guess what I'm saying
is the ability to win games when there's no way
at times that that that the roster said they should have.
You know what I'm saying. But now that they're playing them, hell,
we're going to judge them the same way. I don't
care if it's Dubond at second or if it's al Twove.
They're still getting critiqued, right, And that's part of what
(58:24):
you're saying is and you can't do this in the
postseason and win a championship is another point. I think
you're making so good stuff.
Speaker 5 (58:31):
Man.
Speaker 6 (58:32):
Let's hope they get it right and that the momentum
and that their confidence is rolling into the playoffs and
they're playing their best baseball.
Speaker 5 (58:39):
Good stuff them.
Speaker 17 (58:40):
They help them because they know how to beat the
good teams, and that's playoff baseball time. So hopefully that
will work out and get rid of this every time
when they play a bad team. I just can't watch
them my time.
Speaker 5 (58:50):
I agree.
Speaker 6 (58:50):
And the good thing about it in the like you said,
and I said that to Dan yesday. When you're in
the postseason, you're not playing bad teams, so maybe that'll
elevate their game. Good stuff, man, appreciate the call. Good stuff.
Ready to get to the steak out?
Speaker 5 (59:04):
Yeah, steak me out. Dog. Kind of feel like we
should extend it because this one's a funny one.
Speaker 6 (59:09):
You're not gonna do this, absolutely, I am don't don't.
I don't wanna don't do it.
Speaker 5 (59:14):
Oh, I got you. Yeah, we're gonna do it. Stop
stop triple you know what's coming for the steak out.
We're gonna go ahead and extend it because we've got
to get the break. I believe, so you think I believe.
Speaker 6 (59:25):
So I'm staying.
Speaker 5 (59:26):
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go.
Speaker 6 (59:28):
I'm gonna go see a man about a horse while
out there. Full segment bears, Oh good god, what are
you gonna do for the other minute seventeen in your life?
Speaker 17 (59:42):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (59:42):
I was hell for a buck? Yeah, oh good night,
Oh my gosh. All right, we're gonna extend the steak out,
and it might be one of the funnier steakouts, oh man,
that we've ever had. So you're not gonna want to
miss a golf course. You got get off on ten
or you're going off on one.
Speaker 6 (59:58):
We're going off on one.
Speaker 5 (59:59):
You going off on one? Or are you playing big
easy ranch again?
Speaker 6 (01:00:03):
That's got a bad idea. Yeah, hopefully it's not. I'll
sign my yearbook. I see you at the beach. All right,
let's extend the steak out.
Speaker 5 (01:00:10):
Next to poor Flock seven ninety, The Shawn Salisbury Show continued,
all right, Sean.
Speaker 4 (01:00:22):
What are you hearing out there now? The Salisbury's takeout?
Salisbury takeout on the.
Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:00:35):
All right, we're gonna extend the steak out. This one's
a good one. You listening to the Shawn Salisbury Show.
Sean Broyan Tripolei Astros looking to avoid being swept by
the A's today at Mina MA Park one ten the
first Pitch Noon on Deck show right here on seven nine,
your home Forraftros baseball. Boise State among four schools set
to join the PAC twelve. The Buffalo Bill's Miami Dolphins
(01:00:55):
Thursday Night football tonight. Do you want to do this? Yeah?
Go ahead?
Speaker 6 (01:01:02):
The kids are going to school, man, h are you
going to do this?
Speaker 5 (01:01:06):
You are?
Speaker 6 (01:01:06):
Aren't you? We're gonna stake this out, aren't we?
Speaker 5 (01:01:08):
Yeah? Didn't you have something you wanted to mention prior?
Speaker 6 (01:01:13):
Maybe I'm just trying. I'm trying to pick the tiving
knowing where you're going for this. Because the kids are
going to.
Speaker 5 (01:01:19):
School, that's okay.
Speaker 7 (01:01:21):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:01:21):
I was able to go to watch uh my all
the you know talk I did about Southwest football and
just to validate what we did Brody Chap and my
guy and spindled out the fields over there not far
off from NRG are awesome for those kids what they're doing,
And was able to go to practice last night brody
to you and your you know, your boys driving to school.
Love you guys. Was great watching practice and watch your
(01:01:43):
son last night. He's got his kids in the car. Yeah,
so can you wait twenty minutes? Can you extend this later?
Speaker 8 (01:01:48):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (01:01:49):
Where you're going with this steak out?
Speaker 5 (01:01:50):
Sure?
Speaker 6 (01:01:51):
Okay, that's why I said, That's why you're saying why
I hesitated, just said, Sean, I know you want to
say hi to your guys. I was a proud went
to practice. It was awesome. Yeah, and I'm going to
tell you what. These kids are so lucky to be coached.
The enthusiasm, that's how you're supposed to coach. What I
saw last night these kids teach them, coach them hard
(01:02:11):
and get after it and then and have some fun
while you're doing it. And scholarships for these kids and
taking the money where they don't have to. They do
not have to, you know, pay for that. It's expensive.
So just of all the things we talked about Southwest
Football League last night, I knew it was validated by
(01:02:32):
the people who were running it. And then going to
watch practice in person was was awesome. I absolutely loved it.
So see Carson and Hudson are with Brody right now
on the way to school.
Speaker 5 (01:02:42):
There.
Speaker 6 (01:02:43):
Let's see, I'm seventh grade, I think, and I don't
know what both of them meant, but they're in that
sixth seventh, you know, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh grade range.
I watched seventh and eighth grade team practice last night,
which is one of his sons as well. But a
hunting carsoner in the in the truck right now, so
I appreciate you. Let me talk south West football too,
(01:03:07):
and the facilities are awesome, like I said, well coached.
So as you move, I get out in front of this.
I'm just telling you it's the best league around with
great coaches that are mentoring your kids and making it
easy on parents who can't afford to do it. So
proud of you, Brody and what you're doing, Carson at Hudson,
keep your dad in line, and thank you, Carson Hudson
Brody for being in your truck at this very time.
(01:03:28):
So Brian has to extend the stakeout so the kids
are in school. Before he asked me this stakeout question,
you idiot. Right, Okay, Brody, your timing's always been perfect, brother,
many timing was perfect to save me from having to
answer and listen to this question. Okay, so right, that's
and you know who it's for. We do this for
(01:03:50):
the kids, kids, right, all right, this is the one
one exception for the kids. Right when I said, you're like,
oh no, Shelly, the kids are yeah, the other way
to school.
Speaker 5 (01:03:59):
Yeah, I forget. I forget.
Speaker 6 (01:04:01):
Now they may laugh, but Brody's been like, Sean, don't
give this lessons too suited their life. Right, So you
guys have a great day, Carson, and to have a
good day man, and Brody, I love you brother, Thanks
for inviting me. You're doing great things making a difference
with the with those kids and those teams. And they
got to tell you what, Like they get like the
third and four there's some players on the third grade
(01:04:23):
flag football team that are like there's like ten or
twelve of those kids stay together and they're they're like
feeding up to the eighth grade, seventh and eighth grade
team because you got like third and fourth grade, they
could play some sixth man, right, seven, fifth and six,
like eight man, and then they're playing eleven man, right,
And when those kids go up through the like becomes
a feeder to the eighth grade because they're in the
(01:04:44):
same league, right, and they're all on the same team.
There's some third graders out there that are monsters. You're like, oh,
there's some DNA and some legacy. You know, there's some
player like oh yeah, I know that name, and they're
gonna be We'll be having these conversations four five years
down and be like, yeah, they're ready to go beat
a high school team. So it's uh, it was fun
to watch, and sure honored man and uh the Chapman
(01:05:07):
family good people, and Carson Hudson, thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:05:09):
You made me.
Speaker 6 (01:05:10):
You made Brian have to put a muzzle on his
mouth for a few days. We're talking about it. We're
talking about it at eight o'clock. Then, yeah, Brody said, we're
gonna be and they're gonna be in the car. I
know the school starts, what for most people, right around
eighty select twenty more minutes, So what are you gonna
hit at eight o'clock.
Speaker 5 (01:05:24):
Yeah, we'll talk about at eight o'clock.
Speaker 6 (01:05:27):
Ran when I said it, Oh yeah, I know, probably
mentioned I said, by the way, the kids are on
their way to school.
Speaker 5 (01:05:33):
Yeah, all right, so got him. So for what does
making a regular topic then starting at eight o'clock. Yeah,
uh so for the stake out, then we'll we'll talk
a little college football. Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State,
San Diego State are leaving the Mountain West to join
the PAC twelve, the Power Conference. This is coming from
(01:05:56):
Brett McMurphy. The official announcement is expected Thursday morning. The
Mountain West Conference schools are gonna join Oregon State in
Washington State, but PAC twelve still needs two more schools
to reach the eight school minimum to qualify as an
FBS conference.
Speaker 6 (01:06:14):
Big twelve. I'm sorry, PAC twelve, how many we got
now too? You got to Oregon State in Washington State.
You know what's really people have asked me, Sean, did
the emotion of us he gone to the Big ten?
And you know what, there's that lifetime it's like do
we you know big PAC ten and against the Big
ten in the rows? Well, all those emotional things you
(01:06:37):
go through when your teams leave, like they're in a
new conference. You know, obviously we don't recognize it anymore
because it's not existing. Can you imagine if I'd have
told you twenty years ago the PAC ten, PAC twelve then,
but PAC ten, when I played is gonna go away.
That here's what's gonna happen. You look at me like
you out of your friggin mind. You be two teams
left and then eventually san Diego State, Boise State, and who.
Speaker 5 (01:06:57):
Are the other two? Boyis State, Colorado State, Fresno State,
san Diego State.
Speaker 6 (01:07:02):
Okay, they're drawing the pack.
Speaker 5 (01:07:04):
Oregon State in Washington.
Speaker 6 (01:07:05):
And I told you, I said, SC and UCL are
going to be traveling across the country to play their
games in the midwester or the eastern time zone. They're
back in you know, Rutgers and playing Michigan s he
plays them the twenty first. He said, dude, college football
at moving that fast?
Speaker 5 (01:07:20):
Right?
Speaker 6 (01:07:21):
Well, here we are, and we got Fresno State, who's
a good football program about to jump into the now. Listen,
Boise I'm not so sure Boise State's not not already
late to the party. Yeah, well, we could have welcomed
Boise State in a long time ago and added them,
and probably you said Fresno State, Boise State, san Diego State,
and Colorado Colorado State. Probably Fresno State or San Diego
(01:07:45):
State would have been your next because san Diego State's
had some good defenses and played some good football. But
Boise State could have been there a long time ago.
The truth is a long time ago. You know it
should have been if you went from Pac twelve to
Pack fourteen, even though you may still call it the
PAC twelve is Boise State and be Yu well, you know,
because Utah was already in. It's just those were the
two that have had some power moments and been in
(01:08:07):
Big Bull and hell, b Yu won and Nashally won
their national title, right that was it. Yeah, when Robbie
Bosco was the quarterback. So yeah, it's a I don't
know if it's a needle mover, but they'll go. They'll
find a couple more teams because and then the PAC
twelve will try to rebuild the PAC twelve network with
eight teams and see if they can't get a little
more money for the schools. And but that's the If
(01:08:29):
they had taken care of their business in the first part,
they would have never left, right and dolls. You gotta
do is follow the money. Yeah, and speaking, I'll blame
those other four schools for doing it.
Speaker 5 (01:08:38):
Yeah, And speaking of money, Mountain West is going to
receive one hundred and eleven million dollars in exit fees
for those schools.
Speaker 6 (01:08:50):
Take that money.
Speaker 5 (01:08:52):
The PAC twelve must pay the Mountain West Conference a
total of forty three million dollars for poaching the four
Mountain West schools as part of as eduling an agreement
between the two conferences. So PAC twelve trying to uh
stay afloat. They still need two more teams. But I mean,
I guess it's a good star. I mean, but still
(01:09:12):
at the end of the day, like you're not that's
not a Power five. You got a power you got
Power four conferences. Adding these teams and then two other
teams is not going to make you a Power five school. No, No,
I'm sorry, power five conference. You're still going to be
on the outside looking.
Speaker 6 (01:09:25):
At ACC's got more teams and just as competitive as
those guys would be. They're not a powerful they're not
a Power five getting into it still going to be Powerfolur.
They don't get to add to Power five because those
four schools cater. It doesn't it doesn't immediately make it.
Ooh they're one of the five conferences. No, no, that's
not happened. They've got to be a lot more powerful
than that.
Speaker 5 (01:09:44):
So we got Big twelve, SEC, Big ten, and ACC
those are your power fours and then these yeah Pac
twelve still trying to stay afloat. But I mean, look
good for Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego
State getting into the back twelve to join Oregon State
and Watch State. But like the hard facts are, like
just adding those schools, it's not making you a power five.
(01:10:05):
And I don't think think that college football NCAA is
going to look at them as a power five. But
it'll be a competitive conference. I guess this starts in
these guys are official in twenty twenty six, so not
this fall, man, So two falls from now, yeah damn.
Speaker 6 (01:10:27):
And you know, on the way out, how's a Mount
West people going? Now they're making one hundred and eleven
million dollars or whatever it is. But on the way out,
how you're gonna be treated knowing you still got to
do it for two more years? Right, have Yeah, take
your money and just deal with it.
Speaker 13 (01:10:41):
Right.
Speaker 6 (01:10:42):
We got them here, tayam. And therefore pretty good schools
and some competitive football and Boise State, especially Fresno State
every year give you a little run. So it's a
I guess onto bigger and better things. The question is
how are they going to fill it in and make
it a competitive conference?
Speaker 5 (01:11:00):
Big? Where are you going to get it from? Got
a big one this weekend? Colorado State, Colorado? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:11:05):
Did I hear the dion?
Speaker 7 (01:11:06):
Did?
Speaker 6 (01:11:06):
Did I read this last week? We didn't even talk.
Speaker 5 (01:11:09):
Don't know, it's like two days ago?
Speaker 6 (01:11:10):
No, did I read where he said that when they
score a touchdown at home, you're not the band's not
a lot of playing fights on they got to play.
That was Door Sanders. That was two days ago. But
that's fair. That that's true, right, that's the word on
the street. You want to talk about it next? I
think you still got his music? You still got it?
Go ahead, and Florado is already it's getting tired. Yeah,
(01:11:33):
let's talk about it. Just as quickly as it fell
on the scene, it's about to fall off.
Speaker 5 (01:11:37):
It is following up. Let's talk about that next right
here on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
Let the celebration start war.
Speaker 4 (01:11:45):
Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (01:11:51):
That can't be true, can't it.
Speaker 5 (01:11:52):
There's no way. There's no way, but man, it makes
for a good story.
Speaker 6 (01:11:55):
If that is true. I'm done. We got to the
point you have to walk over to the bed say
there's a mandate you can't play. That can't be true.
That's gotta be Yeah, it has to be. There's no
way somebody find me a reliable source on that. If
it is true, I'm gonna have to unload on it.
That's just terrible.
Speaker 5 (01:12:15):
Triple do you find uh? Did you get his wrap?
You got his rap song? I do? Okay, so I do.
Speaker 6 (01:12:24):
That's the background. Have you done, kids, Zach brown Man? Yeah,
I do terrible better than sure. Yeah, I agree on
that one. Yeah as far.
Speaker 5 (01:12:34):
As yeah, so all right, so this so uh? Sanders
dropped back to pass throws it out in the flat.
Travis Hunter. Travis Hunters at the thirty to twenty the
fifteen ten five touchdown Colorado. Hear the music trivily.
Speaker 6 (01:12:51):
Yeah, tripley, what's the what was that rapper?
Speaker 5 (01:12:55):
We have the guts to try? I guess, yeah, I guess.
So what was that rapper you were jamming to that
one day? Lou shimmylu lu Shimmy, lu Shisty. You need
to go listen to him. I'd rather listen to Lose Shimmy.
Have you No, I have not know I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (01:13:06):
You Stevelmy No, uh no, oh shimmy, yeah, Stevemy.
Speaker 5 (01:13:13):
Oh right, no, no, not to be confused with Richie Loopo.
Speaker 6 (01:13:17):
No, it's Richie and Bobby Loopo.
Speaker 5 (01:13:19):
Bobby Loopo my bad dog.
Speaker 8 (01:13:20):
So uh, perfect time man, Perfect time man.
Speaker 6 (01:13:26):
Just keep saying that, yeah, just keep saying that did
get them may back. He's no Steve Bmi though, No,
he's tell you that. Who is?
Speaker 5 (01:13:36):
You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 8 (01:13:38):
Perfect time?
Speaker 6 (01:13:41):
Seven one three two two five seven ninety. Biscuit wants
the way that perfect time? What's happening to Biscuit?
Speaker 9 (01:13:48):
Hey, man, I know it's on Dion Sanders a month
and week or whatever. But Dianna addressed that in the
press cont the other day. The first thing he said
it was a lie.
Speaker 6 (01:13:58):
Yeah, yeah, that's why I said, gotta be fake.
Speaker 5 (01:14:03):
Can you imagine?
Speaker 6 (01:14:04):
Could you imagine even walking over the band My My,
my cousins and the he's a walk on, but he
sang a song and he's gonna be we got to
play the rap song once we score a touch and
no no, yeah be on. Let's yeah. Give the guy
more credit to that. The fact that somebody put that
out there is like, stop it.
Speaker 9 (01:14:22):
It was a couple other things he addressed to it,
you know, and in today's society we talked about all
the shots time, Sean. It's a narrative. It gets out
there and then all this AI stuff and different things
pop out and and and it'd be all kinds of
stuff that somebody did this and somebody did that, and
know none of it be true.
Speaker 6 (01:14:40):
You know, it's crazy, and then they ride that. The
people ride that as if it is true, you know
what I mean. That's why it's like, come on, I
know he didn't do that.
Speaker 9 (01:14:49):
We had it happened a debate the other night, you know,
you know cats and dogs or whatever that you find
out and now that's not true. They somebody had to
take some ducks involved or whatever, and never was cats
and dogs and it wasn't people's pets.
Speaker 6 (01:15:06):
Dion's got a bigger clue thing to tell the band.
You got to play my son's song. I mean yeah, yeah, yeah,
you think, hey, yeah, play my son's song. As if
he's listening to any music while he's trying to win
a football game.
Speaker 5 (01:15:23):
The focus, yeah, so his kids.
Speaker 6 (01:15:28):
Yeah, the truth is he wants somebody to block so
his kid doesn't get killed halfway through the football season
because he's so beat up. Yeah, yeah, you are one
hundred percent correct. We live in an odd world, Biscuit.
We really do crazy.
Speaker 9 (01:15:40):
I mean, and I don't know we talked about this.
Did you a member of the reporter or whatever that
they had banned from the press from asking him questions
or whatever the school or whatever.
Speaker 5 (01:15:50):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah right.
Speaker 9 (01:15:52):
I was, you know, and I'm on the roof report.
But then I read some of the stuff of the
reporter said Man, I'm like, yeah, it just gets seemed
like it gets personal.
Speaker 5 (01:16:01):
Now that's the problem.
Speaker 9 (01:16:04):
It gets personal. Listen, I say so many personal stuff
about being I'm like, okay, man, what they got to
do with the team?
Speaker 5 (01:16:10):
See that attack?
Speaker 6 (01:16:12):
Yeah, that's that's the part that bothers me. Two things
that we got to stop in the media and well
with with any of the leadership is the constant, the
constant personal attacks. You know, guy, guy drops the pass,
and you know he dropped a pass. We don't hate
his wife, right, you know what I'm saying, good gracious.
And two is we got to the point I remember
(01:16:33):
when I started this business that the object was to
to to report the news, not create it. You get
my point, and and good you know, the good ones
out there they report it. Now. Doesn't mean you can't
have an opinion. If you're a columnist, we we understand that.
And if you're if you're being honest about the play,
most players or most people. If you criticized me for
something that I know that I didn't do, well, I'm
(01:16:55):
really not mad at you. I mean, I know what
I criticized myself, and I was hard a critic or
any out of you. I would think when when it
becomes when you make it personal, start talking about my
mom or my kids, It's like, okay, enough man, my
interception or my touchdown pass had nothing to do with that.
And then quit creating news.
Speaker 5 (01:17:12):
Report it now.
Speaker 6 (01:17:12):
I know people go out there and investigative reporters on
financial you know, uh, Ponzi schemes. I get all that
I'm just talking about in the simple daily life. Don't
go in there and start creating stuff that doesn't exist
because you need to get and the clicks and all that.
So if we quit create and you trying to you know,
create news instead of report it, and then secondly, stop
(01:17:32):
the personal attacks, most guys will deal with the honest stuff.
You throw three interceptions. I can't imagine somebody's gonna say, hey,
you were great today. No, I know I sucked. Okay, happened,
So you're right, man. And it's it's maddening because there
are times I don't even know what to believe when
I read it on Twitter, right, it's like, is this
true somebody there's somebody really crazy enough to do this?
Or no, it's not. When you dig deeper and it's like,
(01:17:55):
come on, it's usually somewhere in the middle, just stop.
So it's you know what it is, biscuit, It's exhausting.
Speaker 5 (01:18:00):
It is.
Speaker 6 (01:18:01):
It's it's absolutely exhausting.
Speaker 9 (01:18:04):
When I went to school, Sean and taking a journalisting class,
and you shouldn't be able to tell a bias and
bout the report.
Speaker 6 (01:18:11):
That's exactly journalist, that's exactly neutral.
Speaker 9 (01:18:14):
You should be neutral. I'm just stayed in the fact
it shouldn't be what man, that dude really don't like
that dude, you know, it shouldn't even it shouldn't even
be a tone where people can interpret that. But that
we got away from that that you know, the stephen
A's and all that. Man, that's that's what. That's who
makes the most money. And you know nowadays, you know.
Speaker 6 (01:18:33):
Saying the loudest even if it stops spot on, and
you'll get the most pay and you'll get the most credit.
It's crazy, it's nuts. I don't subscribe to Yeah, I
should do, or may not even to hear that rap
song when he's on. Anyway, he's got football to deal
with too, so got great stuff. Biscuits appreciate. He's right, man.
We just we got to the point where it's like objective.
(01:18:54):
Objective journalism went out the window a long time ago.
If you're a colonist and you have to urse your
opinion or an analyst, I get it. When it becomes personal,
it's a problem. Yeah, and don't create and they just
report it and be factual. And then if the guy
didn't like you for being factual, oh well, it's just
it's craziness, is crazy.
Speaker 5 (01:19:12):
Especially that time. I can't move the bucks and got
no line man that coming from uh. Ryan Mitchell tweeted
us that that hurts. He said he could always rewrite
the lyrics. Can't move the bubble because I have no lime,
and yeah, give my may back in the perfect time
and all right, it's eighty Clott giveing the eight o'clock
hour Shannon Sharp, perfect time. And what the hell happened
(01:19:34):
with Shannon's Dark yesterday? Internet by storm? We don't need this.
It's next.
Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
Kd E Houston, k t V HD two Houston, an
I Heart radio station. That's a Rocket Sports Talk seven,
your home for your home teams driven by the classic
Chevy Sugar Lens Studios together.
Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
Let's drive.
Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (01:20:08):
Sewn Salisbury, The usc Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (01:20:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobo. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:20:22):
Oh, I can't wait.
Speaker 6 (01:20:24):
Shannon Sharp m yesterday. Sorry, my MIC's all over the place.
Uh yeah, it was a great player. Yeah, Hall of
Famer broadcaster. Uh huh. He alleged I missed something.
Speaker 5 (01:20:41):
Uh yeah, maybe a little bit.
Speaker 6 (01:20:45):
I think I wanted to miss this one.
Speaker 5 (01:20:46):
He uh allegedly accidentally clicked on his Instagram live went
live on his Instagram Shannon Sharp eighty four for about
a minute and fifteen seconds while he was in the
process of getting down with a woman named Michelle. There
was no video of it. The phone was facing the ceiling,
(01:21:10):
but you damn sure. It could hear all the audio,
and it took the internet by storm. I mean the
memes that the people screen recorded, it posted it, the
videos that you can imagine making fun at this situation
were hilarious. He also obviously has a massive platform with
(01:21:35):
his podcast with Chado cho Cinco. It's called The Nightcap.
They were actually just here in Houston a couple of
I think last week, two weeks ago. Maybe Andre Johnson
was over there with them. CJ. Shrouds, so forth and
so on. Channon Sharp being on ESPN, well, he him
and Chado cho Cinco address the elephant in the room
starting their podcast last night. This is coming straight from
(01:21:57):
the Nightcap.
Speaker 18 (01:21:59):
I'm in bear someone that is extremely private. The audio
heard for the entire world to hear. People count on
Shannon Shayha Media Club, Shayshape, Nightcap, ESPN, and I always
try to be professional, even when I'm behind closed doors.
I'm very disappointed in myself, not for the act, but
but to have the audio to be heard. My kids
called them, I called my sister, but God, this was
(01:22:19):
not stayed came in. I threw my phone on the bed,
gazed in an activity. All of a sudden. People are
calling me, Shannon. You're on IG live. They can hear
I'm like doing what like you were having sex? Man?
My heart sank, it dropped. I said, I just got
to tell them the truth. My phone wasn't it was
me being active line. These parts are phone ring cat William.
You ain't today.
Speaker 8 (01:22:41):
We're human.
Speaker 12 (01:22:42):
We all partaking horizontal and vertical activity.
Speaker 5 (01:22:44):
You're not very good at technology. You've done it to me.
Speaker 19 (01:22:47):
I was upset, but then I also remember that you're
not very technically savvy.
Speaker 5 (01:22:50):
But the fact that it was a Michelle and not
a Michael that's my dog.
Speaker 6 (01:23:00):
The oh my god. My man was like, let me
ask you this grunting and I don't think. I don't
think shan. I don't think Shannon is a drinker? Is
he does?
Speaker 5 (01:23:17):
He does that?
Speaker 6 (01:23:18):
Because but no, no, I'm thinking because I'm thinking it
was Sterling. His brother doesn't drink. I've been with Sterling,
that's right, and he'll he'll drink. I've been a little
bit of YACKA Sterling doesn't like to smoke the gars. Yeah,
I'm just thinking myself, Okay, you come home, you want
to get into sheets. Who leaves their phone on the bed.
(01:23:40):
Don't you stick it on the night stand, or don't
you if you're with somebody, you do you triple check
it in your life, whether it's a wife, a girlfriend,
your significant other, whatever it is, you check it and
make sure that damn things not only face down if
you're doing that right because you but you make sure
the damn things off.
Speaker 8 (01:24:01):
Yeah, why was it on?
Speaker 6 (01:24:04):
I don't know, and why? I mean, I understand people
get turned on and you got any to you know,
going nine and a half weeks on, ripping the clothes off,
and yeah in the hallway, right, for sure, I get
all that. Huh, But at what point have you ever
just dropped your phone on the bedside We'll get after it,
or do you at least take two seconds and stick
it away from the action.
Speaker 5 (01:24:22):
If I've ever been in that type of mode where
I'm just like just ready for it, put it on
a bed, It's not going on the bed, right, I'm
leaving it on my island, away from the actions possible
for obvious reasons, leaving my pockets on the floor, like
damn drink, pulling up my Instagram.
Speaker 6 (01:24:41):
But why is it if you go to Instagram when
you go to Instagram tell me that I don't know
the answer to this because I don't do it much.
Is Instagram Live? Do you have to push push a
special button?
Speaker 5 (01:24:51):
I think so, honestly, don't. I've never done I've never
done Instagram Live either, So I just pulled up my Instagram.
Speaker 6 (01:24:57):
I don't even know. Like, don't you have to put
in code to get into ig Live?
Speaker 5 (01:25:01):
Where's live at it?
Speaker 6 (01:25:02):
Don't you have to go through some steps? Or was
it was it? Were they walking through the door with
it on live? And then it just left it on live?
Speaker 5 (01:25:09):
No?
Speaker 6 (01:25:09):
How does it click on live automatically?
Speaker 5 (01:25:11):
Well, he said yesterday on his podcast question, I'm trying
to figure out how this happened. He's never done Instagram
Live before, He's never gone on Instagram Live. So okay,
So honestly, I don't even know how to start Instagram Live.
Speaker 6 (01:25:22):
I'm trying. So if you're knocking boots, are you not?
If you don't know how to run something, are you
not making sure that you push the wrong button?
Speaker 5 (01:25:30):
How do you even do lot? I don't know how.
Speaker 6 (01:25:31):
You don't know how to do it? I don't, I
don't know it. Just I mean, okay, so you got
to hit. ESPN's gonna hand when he comes on a
set and they starts. Are they going to teet up
and joke about it? He's gonna say he's sorry, but
he was laughing about it with Ocho Sink.
Speaker 5 (01:25:45):
I mean, how do you do?
Speaker 6 (01:25:47):
How did they deal with Paul Pierces, like hold my beer?
Speaker 7 (01:25:49):
Right?
Speaker 5 (01:25:50):
Yeah? Because he got run. He got run because he
had two strippers on Instagram live with him and then
you could actually see the video.
Speaker 6 (01:25:56):
Yeah, but they're in the background. Oh yeah, yeah, no,
I get it right.
Speaker 5 (01:25:59):
I'm just saying like he got for that, correct, Yeah,
he had two strippers on as he's smoking us to
go with.
Speaker 6 (01:26:03):
The other guys. I mean, he's literally banging it out right,
But you heard it and he admitted he's talking. He's
he's like, literally, you heard it. I played it for
I didn't want to hear it actual audio.
Speaker 5 (01:26:15):
You don't want to hear it.
Speaker 6 (01:26:16):
I don't want to hear that when you played it off, Michelle,
that's gonna be everybody's gonna ride down figured it out, though, Yeah,
how you gotta press like three buttons?
Speaker 20 (01:26:27):
No, no, no, you gotta just swipe over like you're
finda like you take a picture, huh and then at
the bottom of it stads live.
Speaker 6 (01:26:33):
Really okay, So so so how does your does your
phone swipe? I don't. I don't know, like you're find
to take a picture on Instagram oh live?
Speaker 5 (01:26:42):
Yeah, yeah, okay, I'll see that now. But got it? Okay?
Speaker 6 (01:26:46):
Uh yeah, it's a little it's it's an odd situation. Yeah,
when you when you when you when you played my Michelle,
I've like threw threw open my mouth. But other than that,
it's all's good.
Speaker 8 (01:26:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:26:59):
You mean he having sex with your significant other.
Speaker 5 (01:27:01):
No problem, that's fine.
Speaker 6 (01:27:03):
When your boys have to call, you'd say, you're on
Instagram's banging it out, dude.
Speaker 5 (01:27:07):
So he said. He said people were facetiming him in
the middle of him getting after it, and he had
no idea what was going on. So finally I guess
it's his like longtime agent or marketing rep named Jason.
I believe Jay or Jason, And he finally picks up
and he's like, man, what's going on? And the guy
was like, hey, uh, you're on Instagram live right now.
(01:27:28):
He's like, man, I've never been on Instagram live live
in my life. He said, no, you're you were on,
he said, but so I guess the guy has access
to Shannon's accounts because Shannon runs it himself. And he said, well,
I shut the live down and he said, well, what
did they see? What they hear? And he was like, bro,
you were having sex, he said, and he said he
got pissed and he was like, Noah, there's no way
and he said, no, you were having sex.
Speaker 6 (01:27:52):
That's his Michelle though, Michelle, Oh, yeah, So then all
you asked me how I was supposed to react to this?
I mean, like, what is doesn't add up? I know,
but oh what do you spancy getting? But pay raise?
Speaker 5 (01:28:05):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (01:28:06):
He't gonna give up, apologize, I'm sorry, embarised, you know,
and okay, let's give you a new twenty five million
dollar five year deal. But I don't know how they're
gonna react. But the thing is, are you gonna go
on there and not address it?
Speaker 5 (01:28:19):
That's ma Michelle?
Speaker 6 (01:28:20):
Yeah, are you gonna go on there and address it?
Speaker 5 (01:28:22):
If you do?
Speaker 6 (01:28:23):
Because you were joking about it with Ocho Sinkle, right, correct, Yeah,
you're embarrassed, but joking about trying to I don't know,
trying to be loved. He to do a situation, at
least getting out in front of it. So the fact
that he didn't deny yeah, I mean that he went
and said no, I didn't get hacked.
Speaker 5 (01:28:35):
The very first like probably two three minutes of his podcast.
It was very professionally, very apologetic, and channel or SKO
gave him the platform to do it right, and then
they started joking and making jokes about it.
Speaker 6 (01:28:47):
He got out in front of which is always smart
to do, yeah, because you when you admit your mistake,
people want to forgive you when you try to hide
by well, all that happened and it was hacked.
Speaker 5 (01:28:56):
Stop it.
Speaker 6 (01:28:57):
Okay, they just happened to hack you the night you
were gonna go, you know, ten toes up and ten
toes down. Dude, stop it. But he did, and he
did address it. And I'm sure he's like mortified right now,
or is he? But I imagine he is. But how do
you address it? And steven A's supposed to joke. I'm like, dude,
that's all you brought for minute seventeen or whatever.
Speaker 5 (01:29:15):
I mean, how are you supposed to address it if
they bring it up?
Speaker 6 (01:29:17):
Or is it like really somber and do it and
you're just gonna once he lets it go, he's back
to being debated, debating and all that and getting after it.
I'm anxious to see how they're they're gonna spend this.
But he was wise to go out in front of
it and say, yeah, you know what, I'm embarrassed by it,
and I made him you know, shouldn't have done that
in my private life.
Speaker 5 (01:29:37):
He's gonna be he's been excuse me, he's been trending
on Twitter, and he'll be trending for like the next
like a couple of days.
Speaker 6 (01:29:43):
Oh, they're gonna do you're you're in twenty thirty five,
you're gonna hear that's my massit. People are people are relentless, dude,
I trust me. I can tell you they are brutal.
And look at some of the stuff on Twitter already
what they're saying, it's.
Speaker 5 (01:30:04):
Hilarious, bro. He was he was like like a like
a wild and what's the next endorsement on the podcast?
Speaker 6 (01:30:16):
He pulled up some sexual enhancement pills and then they're
gonna pay h an extra million dollars.
Speaker 5 (01:30:21):
Yeah, for sure. Probably, of course he's.
Speaker 6 (01:30:23):
Gonna he's gonna And when all of a said no,
it's gonna just be call wallet there, you go.
Speaker 5 (01:30:27):
Call them diamonds. He said, you know, I'd be on
them diamonds. Is that?
Speaker 8 (01:30:31):
What is that?
Speaker 6 (01:30:32):
That's what he calls the blue darts.
Speaker 5 (01:30:34):
I think it's yeah, down a couple of blue dots.
Speaker 6 (01:30:39):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 5 (01:30:41):
That's my Michelle. That's his Michelle. But the best part,
like on the audio that we played is Chado Joe single.
At the end he said, I'm just glad it was
a machine Michael.
Speaker 6 (01:30:56):
I was waiting for like him to say, like, who's
your daddy? And she looks, she looks over her shoulder
and says, you don't know him.
Speaker 5 (01:31:07):
Terrell Owens te o. Our guy Bobby tweeted us just
now and as a screenshot of Terrell Owens uh saying
she sounds familiar.
Speaker 6 (01:31:15):
Oh that's wrong.
Speaker 5 (01:31:17):
That is really that? That is wrong.
Speaker 6 (01:31:19):
How does she spell her name?
Speaker 5 (01:31:20):
No? So well?
Speaker 6 (01:31:22):
And you know you don't like.
Speaker 5 (01:31:24):
This to have Michelle Beatle Michelle Beatle member Michelle Beatle.
Oh yeah, she responded and said it was not me.
Speaker 6 (01:31:30):
I would imagine a lot of Michelle's that are in
the sports world right now we're saying clear me, hell no,
but listen, you don't like he's gonna go through some
a few days of you're gonna have to just throw
your arms up say you got me, Yeah, got me,
you know, like you got me, and then deal with
(01:31:53):
the big boss. And he is, hey, man, after the
show or before the show, makes you here a little we
need to have a yeah, and then you go from
there leading and then all of a sudden, he's some
some four different companies are gonna say, man, I see
the pill, how about it? How about a five year,
twenty five million dollars deal for that? Follow the money
(01:32:15):
for Like I said, it's I'm sure he was mortified.
I'm assuming he was mortified.
Speaker 5 (01:32:21):
Yeah I would, Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 6 (01:32:23):
Why are all my why all my buddies calling?
Speaker 5 (01:32:26):
Call your sister, your your kids, your agent, not ESPN. Hey,
right after you got done too.
Speaker 6 (01:32:34):
Told you about that unpaved road, brother, very You don't
get to stay on the paved road very long.
Speaker 5 (01:32:38):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:32:39):
When you're on the unpaved road, which most of us
spent time, you got to work your way back to
the paved road. And that's where he's at right now.
He's fighting through the brush like, ah, here we go. Well,
they're gonna be relentless.
Speaker 5 (01:32:49):
Well, you know what, hopefully Michelle didn't have a bush
that he's got to fight through.
Speaker 8 (01:32:52):
Gross.
Speaker 6 (01:32:52):
What else, Well, then she'll get an endorsement for manscaping.
Speaker 7 (01:32:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:32:58):
I don't want to see that either.
Speaker 5 (01:33:00):
Let's get a break right here. On the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (01:33:04):
Let the celebration start war Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (01:33:12):
He says in the video, Uh, his second phone was
going off, so is IG live was going off, going
on and his second phone was blown up? So he
is That's what it was. So he's curried.
Speaker 6 (01:33:22):
He's one of those guys got carries two phones? Why Yeah,
I don't know. Mmm, that's right, business person else, that's right,
that's what it was to have to carry two phones
oil and gas.
Speaker 5 (01:33:34):
Terrible man.
Speaker 6 (01:33:35):
All right, So you so that's how you I g
live and in Facebook and FaceTime at the same time.
Speaker 5 (01:33:40):
Yeah. H Shannon Sharpe has not been fired, Solt on
USA Today Sports, but that is of this morning.
Speaker 6 (01:33:52):
So well, I hate to see anybody go through the
these what he's probably gonna have to go through for
a minute of being the butt of no pun intended
to jokes.
Speaker 5 (01:34:07):
Yeah, but.
Speaker 6 (01:34:10):
If he can getting out in front of it was
a smart move by him and admitting if he erode
the uh I was hacked yeh, then now you're not.
It never gets coming out, honest. It's a good thing. Yeah,
But I'm just curious how ESPN's gonna handle their selective
UH firings and hirings, right, especially firings over certain guys.
(01:34:32):
Why do you like this guy more than this guy?
Why did this guy do something different this guy? But
you're and I'll tell you why that they don't want
a good show to go away, Okay, that's why. So
I don't like to see anybody go through hard times
like that. But sometimes it's self inflicted, and this apparently was.
But you answered my question, how you do IG live
(01:34:52):
and UH and Facebook and the FaceTime? Yeah can't. He
has two phones.
Speaker 5 (01:34:58):
So I go and I look. You know, Paul Pierce
obviously got fired from ESPN. He was smoking weed on
Instagram live with two strippers in the background and very
little clothing. That's a little bit worse just because you
could see the visual and then this one. You can
hear the audio, you can't see the visual. I don't know.
(01:35:19):
I mean, it depends on what ESPN wants to do
what they think to less lesser evils. Is I don't know, man,
it's just it's crazy. Sep. Two, five, seven ninety cowboy, Darrel,
what's going on?
Speaker 21 (01:35:34):
And look again this thang. I made a comment. I
made a comment to my wife. She's ten years older
than me, and you know she's white, and we dated
when I was a tssue.
Speaker 5 (01:35:45):
She was in grad school to your of age. But anyway,
I made a comment that I said, she did it.
Speaker 13 (01:35:51):
She said it up.
Speaker 21 (01:35:52):
He duck into the restroom.
Speaker 5 (01:35:53):
I'm just visiting this in my mind.
Speaker 21 (01:35:54):
I said, she ducks into the rest he ducks into
the restroom, gets that throst phone, she fixes it, and
she says this thing and she guilty.
Speaker 15 (01:36:01):
I said, if he ain't doing and she like telling me.
Speaker 21 (01:36:05):
She said me, you stopped saying it like that, blame
alignment when he had a ball too long. I'm like
what I said, Hell, I found like that holding uh,
blaming alignment for him holding.
Speaker 8 (01:36:16):
The ball too long.
Speaker 5 (01:36:17):
I said she did it.
Speaker 21 (01:36:18):
I said she did it in the garden. I said
she did it. And so we get into this crazy
behind the set the shop. So I told her, I said,
remember when we dated back in the day, and you
come and spend the night over, and uh, and all
of a sudden, I'd have someone over and and we
wasn't committed yet. But the person that would come back
(01:36:38):
will find out all these little long blonde strands of
hair of different places in the restroom. I said, now,
how could I explain that?
Speaker 15 (01:36:45):
Who did that?
Speaker 21 (01:36:46):
And she was like, you better not get on that
show calling time about she did it.
Speaker 15 (01:36:50):
I'm gonna be listening to. I said, she did it.
She did it?
Speaker 5 (01:36:55):
So you you did your your wife while y'all were
y'all weren't committed yet, you used to leave her little
market at your yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 15 (01:37:04):
And so and I'm you know what I'm saying that.
Speaker 21 (01:37:06):
Then the other girl I was seeing at the time,
you know, was like, uh, where does this come from?
Speaker 2 (01:37:11):
What?
Speaker 5 (01:37:11):
What is this?
Speaker 1 (01:37:12):
What is this?
Speaker 15 (01:37:12):
And I'm sitting there like dumbfound it, like.
Speaker 21 (01:37:14):
Like I don't know, yeah, and you know, you can't
explain this, And so I'm like, shitty, shitty, you smarter
than that.
Speaker 6 (01:37:24):
You might you might fall Shatte's falling on the sword.
Speaker 15 (01:37:26):
Hey may get rid over Shannon, get rid of it.
Speaker 6 (01:37:28):
She did it.
Speaker 15 (01:37:29):
She did it all the way back to the garden.
Speaker 5 (01:37:31):
She did it, and I'm gonna hang.
Speaker 6 (01:37:34):
Up appreciate the cowboy Daryl. Oh my god, it's so
funny that class. Oh wow, you know, man, it wasn't
on the bingo card today. I don't think. No, you
know what I'm saying. No, but I'm sure wasn't on
his either, at least I hope it.
Speaker 5 (01:37:52):
Wasn't on his.
Speaker 6 (01:37:53):
That's Michelle. What a line by Ochell Sigel. I'm glad
it was Michelle and I'm Michael, yeah, because they're some
also rumors about him, you know, being into guys. Yeah,
that's out there. I mean, yeah, you're not saying anything
that hasn't been that. People haven't the narrative, you know. Yeah,
(01:38:14):
the rumor alleged talk out there, so fodder Well maybe
proved him wrong last night.
Speaker 5 (01:38:21):
That Michelle and I'm pretty sure this Instagram live started
at like noon, like one o'clock in the afternoon, like
it wasn't a nighttime it was so it was daytime.
Speaker 6 (01:38:33):
Situeah, they're done wrong with that, you know, maybe don't
do it on your Instagram live.
Speaker 5 (01:38:41):
Maybe turn your phone off. Yeah, I don't know. I
think I'm with Calrot Cowboy Daryl. She probably set it
up you think she did, yeah, or it's a big
conspiracy where he told her to do it and then
he played pleads ignorance just so and he says her
name right, my Michelle, yes, my Michelle not you know,
So basically he's getting you know, the thing out there like, Hey,
(01:39:02):
I am not into dudes. I like women, especially women
named Michelle.
Speaker 6 (01:39:06):
And I'm gonna make sure you guys know. Yeah, and
you're gonna hear me grunt. I hope that's not what
he had to do to get in that room or out. Yeah,
I'm sure it's an odd, an odd morning for Shannon
this morning.
Speaker 5 (01:39:19):
Yeah. Is he on ESPN to day?
Speaker 6 (01:39:20):
I can't because you know ESPN, ABC and Disney. It's
crazy right now, somebody tell us if they're watching the show.
Speaker 5 (01:39:25):
Yeah, Direct TV freaking sucks. Yeah, we don't.
Speaker 6 (01:39:31):

Speaker 19 (01:42:26):
Well, he thought, you know, he's like literally like a
straight follower of this guy.
Speaker 5 (01:42:30):

the ESPN.
Speaker 19 (01:42:32):
And everything and with a skip baalist and man, he

and just dying and some bicycles over.
Speaker 5 (01:43:43):

Speaker 5 (01:44:43):
Hey man, Look, I'm just trying to pay homage to him. Okay, yeah,

to hear a double comparison. We might be onto something. Okay,
do you have Vin Diesel? I was just thinking.
Speaker 5 (01:47:04):
I don't know why. I was just thinking about Vin
Diesel and family, and.
Speaker 6 (01:47:07):
I want to hear that one here. I want to
hear how family Michelle Michelle early similar? What did we
ever see him both in the same room at the
same time. If we do that, it is Michaels, it
could be. Okay, so we got tell us when you're ready.
Speaker 5 (01:47:30):
Yeah, okay, and then my Michelle. So you have family,
my Mielle and.
Speaker 6 (01:47:42):
It's his Michelle. So hit the other one again.
Speaker 5 (01:47:46):
Family one second?
Speaker 2 (01:47:47):
Yeah, I got it.
Speaker 5 (01:47:48):
I thought you had them both pulled out. How it
works over there?
Speaker 8 (01:47:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:47:51):
Okay, I actually saw an artist. There's family.
Speaker 8 (01:47:57):
That's my Michelle.
Speaker 5 (01:47:59):
I saw it. Actually, it's funny we're bringing up Vin Diesel.
I saw this morning when I was going through some
news and notes. There's an article that was written about
eight the most the eight most impactful movies for Vin
Diesel family. So it's all all of all this.
Speaker 6 (01:48:22):
What's the other one was Triple Extra, Triple X or
whatever we call something because Triple X, Triple was Cube,
wasn't it.
Speaker 5 (01:48:28):
No, it's it's uh what's his name? It is Diesel?
Speaker 6 (01:48:34):
Yeah, family, Yeah, Triple X was releasing O two. I
think there you go. I think there was also there's
a there's a movie, the one where he's with his girl.
They have a house on a beach. He's a cop.
They kill his girl and his wife and then he
(01:48:55):
goes and gets revenge. I can't remember you have a shock.
I can't remember what the name of the movie is,
but seeming like it's actually a pretty good movie.
Speaker 5 (01:49:05):
Really Bloodshot, Chronicles of RIDDI no seen both the last
witch Hunter, No, Passive Fire. No, he's find me guilty.
Speaker 6 (01:49:15):
He's like, he like to say, the cop, they kill
his wife and then he goes back and gets revenge.
Speaker 5 (01:49:20):
A man apart?
Speaker 6 (01:49:23):
Is that it?
Speaker 2 (01:49:24):
That?
Speaker 6 (01:49:24):
That might be it? That might be it. Yeah, that
that might very well be it. But good movie though,
I think it is. Yeah, that is it. I think
drug cartel guy. He goes back and gets revenge.
Speaker 8 (01:49:37):
On him.
Speaker 6 (01:49:37):
He killed So but there you go family and my Michelle.
Speaker 5 (01:49:41):
Yeah, well.
Speaker 8 (01:49:45):
Okay, that's so.
Speaker 5 (01:49:48):
Long, that's so wrong. All right, let's uh you know,
I don't mean I'm not trying to make a segue.
Speaker 6 (01:49:53):
I was just thinking, how this is starting to get
nerve wracking. Yeah without two v out uh huh it started.
It can be bothersome right now, three and a half
game lead.
Speaker 5 (01:50:04):
Let's discuss the next on sports Stock seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:50:07):
Why you're back.
Speaker 5 (01:50:09):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show, Get back at it.
Astro's looking to avoid this sweep. Today it's a one
ten first pitch noon on Deck show. So, you know,
typical Matt Thomas and Ross.
Speaker 6 (01:50:21):
What a shock.
Speaker 5 (01:50:23):
No, they don't have to.
Speaker 6 (01:50:24):
Work that the country club, country club?
Speaker 5 (01:50:26):
What are the days off they get?
Speaker 6 (01:50:28):
Man, I don't know. But if he says it's maya
Michelle and she looks over and says, and you're my Dave,
then what happens it's gonna be that's.
Speaker 5 (01:50:38):
Gonna be a real quack.
Speaker 6 (01:50:40):
That's a quack buar one, that's a dad, is a
real quag buire. Interesting, Yeah, day game, country club? You
want to day? Oh, we can't get the day off
because they don't play it six in the bok They
don't know, sure, don't.
Speaker 4 (01:50:53):
Well.
Speaker 6 (01:50:54):
School is grind, Yeah, typically are no big deal. That's cool.
It's what is log for.
Speaker 5 (01:50:59):
Yeah, I'm sand Dog every day six am to ten am.
Cuh right here on Sports Talk seven ninety Cuz still
waiting to hear if I'm assuming we're gonna hear maybe
uh an update on jose Al too ve probably around
ten thirty or eleven, hopefully No. I Ale stint for
him soreness. I'm sorry, right, discoid discomfort.
Speaker 6 (01:51:23):
Has he had as he had discomforted before?
Speaker 9 (01:51:25):
Right?
Speaker 6 (01:51:25):
Yeah? Yeah yeah, those o bleaks, man, they'll get you sometimes.
You know what I'm saying. Dog, Yeah, let's see. Uh
you got to stand on business though, on this one,
stand on business, Dog. That's no stap on a stack
for real for real?
Speaker 5 (01:51:40):
You like that?
Speaker 6 (01:51:40):
No cap on a stack, No cap on a stack
for real for real? Cut waitin going hungry.
Speaker 5 (01:51:47):
Joe Spot actually talked about jose Al two ves a
bleak injury in the past.
Speaker 13 (01:51:51):
That's what he said, Um not not really. I don't
think has something to do. I think it happened last year,
but I'm not concerned. You know that he's an oblique.
You know right now it's just right side these comfort
and we're just going to see how you feel small, all.
Speaker 6 (01:52:09):
Right, So it is an oblique and they should be concerned,
is what you're saying.
Speaker 5 (01:52:14):
Pretty much. Yeah, I'll tell you what, man, if it
is an oblique, you know how those injuries go.
Speaker 6 (01:52:19):
If you imagine that after the press conference, he says
that the first you know, come out, you're you're writing
the story of the on the injury of the game,
and the first thing you say, Joe a spot has said, well,
it was an oblique, and it said and I am
concerned because he said it wasn't oblique.
Speaker 5 (01:52:34):
Was concerned.
Speaker 6 (01:52:35):
You know how the asters are overly protective. Oh, rightfully so.
I but the word discomfort, Uh makes me uncomfortable because
it seems like every time we hear it, something good
doesn't follow injury wise, that they're out for a while. Yeah,
let's hope it's not the case with with Joe Altuve.
Speaker 5 (01:52:51):
Well, if it is, it's going to be tough sledding
finishing out the season without your your guy at the
top of the lineup and everything that he brings the table,
play is having a really good year offensively Chas McCormick,
so that he's going to be out on the il
with broken broken bone in his hands. So there's a
depth issue right there. Even though he hasn't really had
the best of years. Still there's depth concerns now. I
(01:53:15):
mean as far as like veteran players.
Speaker 6 (01:53:17):
There's been depth conturns the whole year everywhere, right like
every week we got another concern about some part of
the staff or outfield and infield and how we doing
depth wise in this guy. And hey, you what you
can't One thing you can't criticize is the way they survive.
I mean, they survive it and keep on keeping on.
It's pretty impressive. Now we're going to find out if
(01:53:38):
they can stave the you know, the competitors off and
go do it. And then once you get in the playoffs,
then the inconsistency's got to be fewer and farther between. Right,
you got to bring the you've got to play. You're
scoring two or three runs in postseason will be enough.
Speaker 5 (01:53:51):
First things first, don't get swept by the freaking Oakland Athletics.
Speaker 6 (01:53:54):
Right right, And they have become formidable this last with
thirty forty games or whatever it's been that you said.
There you go, forty seven almost fifty games. They've been
pretty damn good.
Speaker 5 (01:54:06):
You got fromber Valdez on the mountain tonight or today, excuse.
Speaker 6 (01:54:09):
Me fromber they don't get swept.
Speaker 8 (01:54:14):
He pitched.
Speaker 6 (01:54:14):
He pitched as well today. That's what that I mean,
that's my story. I'm sticking with it.
Speaker 5 (01:54:19):
How how severe do you think the injury is for
Altuve in your mind? Ten day?
Speaker 6 (01:54:28):
I l.
Speaker 5 (01:54:30):
That's why.
Speaker 6 (01:54:31):
I'm just you want a prediction that's judging from the
fact that he left the game. This has been We've
had an injury at least in the area in the past.
Whether it's the same situation or not. I'm gonna go with.
Speaker 5 (01:54:45):
Miss is a couple series, seventeen games left.
Speaker 6 (01:54:49):
I'll say miss is a couple series, but is ready
for the playoffs the tail end of the season.
Speaker 5 (01:54:55):
Of course.
Speaker 6 (01:54:56):
Fine, I hope I'm wrong. I hope he's playing. I
hope he plays today. But discomforts and ugly word when
it comes to Andrey's and the astro, sure is he
usually ends up away in a way you don't want
to hear.
Speaker 5 (01:55:07):
Yeah, So yeah, Mariner's just three and a half back.
They have the Texas Rangers today. Obviously, the Astros looking
to avoid this week take on Oakland. One ten is
the first pitch Noon on Deck show. Let let's talk
some Houston Texans football. C J Stroud spoke to the
media yesterday, talked about building confidence with Stefon Diggs. Stevon
(01:55:28):
Diggs caught two touchdown passes in that win against the Colts.
Speaker 6 (01:55:31):
How is that chemistry going between those two? We'll discuss
the next on Sports Talk seven to eighty.
Speaker 4 (01:55:37):
Kb EAS Houston, ADHD two Houston and iHeart Radio Station,
The Astros, Star Rockets, Rockets, Hosky Fall your home for
your home teams. This is Sports Talk seven ninety driven
by the classic Chevy Sugar Lends studios together.
Speaker 2 (01:55:54):
Let's dry.
Speaker 1 (01:55:58):
Salsbury.
Speaker 2 (01:56:01):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 1 (01:56:05):
Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (01:56:09):
To usc true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (01:56:11):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos.
Speaker 4 (01:56:14):
This is the Sean Salsbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:56:19):
About thirty minutes ago. Buffalo Bill's Miami Dolphins playing tonight
Thursday Night Football. The Texans play this Sunday evening over
at NRG Stadium. It's Sunday Night Football. They take on
the Bears.
Speaker 6 (01:56:32):
C J.
Speaker 5 (01:56:33):
Stroud talked about his relationship with Stefan Diggs. This is
what the quarterback had to say about building chemistry.
Speaker 20 (01:56:41):
A lot of work away from the spotlight. You know,
him coming to La me going to Paris to see
him and throw out out there. There's really all the
all the times when nobody sees. So that's that's where
like that work you see a payoff. But I think
that was just a little scratch on the surface. There's
a ton of plays we left on that field that game,
(01:57:01):
and you know, I think will be a lot better
going forward. I remember watching Brady break down film one time,
and there's a lot of defensive calls that get caught
into the defense, which is really the quarterback's fall for
throwing them into bad coverage or like not seeing the
whole field. So you know, just like it is for
the defenders not to kill defensive guys, which sometimes I
don't agree with because I mean, that's the nature of
(01:57:22):
the game is you know somebody who's willing to get smack.
You gotta do what you gotta do, set a tone,
and it's our job too to protect our players.
Speaker 5 (01:57:32):
That's CJ.
Speaker 6 (01:57:32):
Stroud talking about building chemistry and also about not getting
this wide rechievers crushed.
Speaker 5 (01:57:37):
Kids gay and understanding.
Speaker 6 (01:57:39):
You know that the quarterback bears some responsibility for throwing
it in the wrong spot. Even if you get completion,
it may be did if you to tell the ball
split second longer, or you may have had an easier
completion or a bigger completion, but it's still a completion.
He's so mature on his approach to the game and
leaving a lot and they did leave some plays out there,
and he knows it, and they still found a way
(01:57:59):
to win. Defense showed up and they made and Joe
Mixon was, you know the great thing about this team,
Joe Mixon was, this was the star last week. This week,
it could be Diggs who had two touchdowns. It could
be Nico Collins who had a big game. But somebody's
gonna shine different. They have the ability to four or
five six different guys on offense to shine and to
be that guy every week, and a different guy every week.
(01:58:20):
But it starts with him and Stroud is just listen
to him talk. You're not listening to a guy who's
you know, in over his head and you know when
you see his feet underwater. He's paddling fast because he's like,
doesn't want to sink. This guy's got a great command
of what's going on at the line of scrimmage perspective
over this stuff. I had to handle the media, and
(01:58:42):
it appears to me he just his preparation mentally, physically
and emotionally is top shelf. That's not a second your
quarterback talking to you. Many listening to the audio and
not knowing it's c. J. Shroud, I would say that, man,
this guy's been decade. Yeah, it's it's it's he's impressive, man,
and his performance matches the way he handles himself. What
(01:59:06):
a what a treat it is to have him in
this city, to be able to watch him play every week,
It really is.
Speaker 5 (01:59:11):
And you know, for my for my fantasy football team's sake,
I hope Tank Dell has two touchdowns and.
Speaker 6 (01:59:16):
There's another guy who's capable of monster performances every week. Yeah,
it's we I mean I know that. I think the
fans here do realize how lucky we are. You know,
when you think back, I mean quarterbacks that have run
through you know, from Warren Moon with the Oilers and
Watson had his moments and you saw flashes of in
a season of some pretty incredible talent. This guy's I mean,
(01:59:39):
I'm not I'm not saying c J. Stroud's warn Moon.
We're not there yet, okay, but if this continued, he's
he's on a incredible path. I'm sure Warren would talk
about c J. Stroud in a way that we would
talk about Warren Moon, right, But you hat a long
way to go to do that and sustain greatness. But
I can tell you this early returns for him are
(02:00:00):
He's a great watch and the world, the football world's
watching and it's just another chance. And you know he
was in the situation that Caleb Williams is in last
year and he's going to deal with that and you know,
second start and what's the defense going to do to
try and confuse him. I'm so impressed with CJ. Stroud,
just as every bit is impressed with the way he
handles his team, just as much as the way he
(02:00:23):
throws a football. I really am. And it's the mental
part of it and his constant growth there of understanding
what teams are trying to do to him and their
offense that's going to get him. You'll never have. The
guy's throwing the football is never going to be an
issue that we see. But how to manipulate coverage and
how to beat them when they're at their best and
(02:00:45):
you know you're not having that day and still find
ways to win. And then when you are having that day, well,
it's a treat for all of us to watch. I
think he's far beyond his years. This is not a
second year player. And I don't think there's one ounce
of people that even if he got to a super Bowl,
let's say, got to Super Bowl this year, he's guy.
There's almost certain guys that are in their infancy of
their career that when they get in you're not like,
(02:01:06):
like when Burrow got to the Super Bowl. I wasn't
worried about Burrow's inexperience in a super Bowl, you know,
at LSU and all the big and national championship games
and all that, even though the NFL is different. I
really it never came to my well, it's his first one.
Hopefully he'll be okay, right, And I never thought about that. Yeah,
but you know, in hell, Stafford's been a veteran in
(02:01:29):
the league, but it was his first one too. I
never even thought about it. And that's how I mean.
I felt like Burrow and Stafford been in the league
the same amount of time, which they hadn't right. And
I feel that same way about Stratt. If we were
to go to Super Bowl this year, and let's say
he's playing against AFC Championship game against Mahomes and then
goes Super Bowl and plays against whoever you think it is.
In the end of the allions fair enough, there won't
(02:01:49):
be one ounce of me that says could be overwhelmed
second year quarterback in a Super Bowl. Come on, man,
it's too premature, too early, too spoiled, happened too fast. No,
because to get there he will have mowed down a
lot of people on the way there. Yeah, so he
just he's it's just different. We can say it. You know,
everybody talks about the it factor. Well in factor, we've
(02:02:11):
never been able to put our finger on what it
what actually is it when we talk about a player
or a baseball player, if they got something different, and
when we say do we use terms different a little
too often at times, or he's great about players, or
what a great play on a three yard game.
Speaker 5 (02:02:26):
But this is true.
Speaker 6 (02:02:26):
You can't overemphasize just how impactful he's been. And he
is different. It's it's and I don't know anybody that
doesn't different in a good way. Meaning as a quarterback,
you're not supposed to do what he does. Yeah, you're
just not this early in your career.
Speaker 5 (02:02:41):
Yeah, and even last year when you heard him talk
like you could tell he was different, and then everything
this offseason and then everything so far in the preseason
that he just just the way that he speaks and
the way that he carries himself like this guy is,
I would never think that he was just a second
year player.
Speaker 6 (02:02:59):
Have you heard him harp on or complain or fingerpoint
or try to get even with those who said he
wasn't a smart, a football IQ guy because he did
that this test or that you know somebody your questions leadership?
Speaker 5 (02:03:12):
Right? Have you ever heard.
Speaker 6 (02:03:13):
Him the best way is you don't need to respond
to perform. So all that said going in, he performed.
And now you tell me one, have you heard a
reference to the test this year on any national show?
Absolutely not. Oh, now, have you heard anything other than
great leader already? Have you ever heard anybody say, ah,
too early to be a leader? You never heard that
(02:03:34):
at all, oh Man, and still an apologizing for saying
the guy couldn't lead. And he's never at least to
my knowledge, maybe he has, but he's never harped on
it or made me think that dude, let it go.
It didn't matter what they say about you. Answer right.
His way of answering the question was simply to perform
beyond belief and not luck, because you can't sustain great
(02:03:57):
play by just mailing it in and thinking it's going
to happen. Because you can throw football. That position's way
too hard to just show up. Yeah, he's putting his
time in. Yeah, there's no question about it.
Speaker 5 (02:04:06):
I think you know, you mentioned the quarterbacks that have
been here and you mentioned Deshaun Watson. Like the fall
off for Deshaun Watson needs to be studied.
Speaker 6 (02:04:14):
It's going to be alarming if this keeps like. It's
alarming if this keeps up.
Speaker 5 (02:04:17):
I mean so obviously the NFL is now involved in
the allegations against him. The latest ones both lawyers Rusty
Harden and Tony Busby. Rusty Harden is Deshaun Watson's lawyer.
Buzzby is the the uh Jane Doe in that in
that lawsuit, but just hearing him talk, like yesterday they
asked him about leadership and it was like he couldn't
(02:04:39):
even like he couldn't even process the question. He just
does not mentally seem there. And I know that's effecting
the play on the field. I don't see. I don't
see how he gets any better this year. I feel
like he is just going to be an average quarterback.
I find it sho.
Speaker 6 (02:04:57):
I would have never thought this, though, would you.
Speaker 5 (02:04:58):
No.
Speaker 6 (02:04:59):
I thought when he went there, the team yeah, built, Yeah,
I would have thought, this guy's you're gonna steal rejuvenation
of how he looked when he was at his best.
Here it's not even close. He was desive, indecisive, just
doesn't make it, doesn't make it right, and isn't making
the same amount of place.
Speaker 5 (02:05:16):
And you look at that body.
Speaker 6 (02:05:18):
Language can be overrated and sometimes it can be underrated
as well, but when you look at him, it's it's
it's like he's discombobulated.
Speaker 5 (02:05:26):
Man.
Speaker 6 (02:05:27):
Now, I understand if off the field stuff's getting to him, well,
that's self inflicted.
Speaker 5 (02:05:30):
Stop doing it.
Speaker 6 (02:05:32):
The other part is has he lost the edge that
he played with yes and every week on the temporary,
no doubt. I'm thinking, how many how much longer can
we keep saying that, oh, he's gonna it's gonna be okay.
I've dude, when I've gone on in Cleveland, and I
was on with the buddy of mine, Grant, the other day,
and he said, Sean, you had said on this show
last year that you expected Watson when he got there,
(02:05:54):
that you should and he's right. I said, come on, man,
you've upgraded your position on that roster good And it
just kind of Flackle was a better player last year. Yeah,
And I know he got hurt, but I'm talking about
when he played he was better. Yeah, And then you think, okay,
well and it's one game this year. I get it,
and he's maybe maybe he's still not comfortable. I don't know,
but if this trend continues, you want to talk about
it from a from a top five quarterback. At the
(02:06:16):
time when he left, when he threw forty eight hundred
yards that next year, everybody talked about, oh, top five,
top six. Where we're talking about Stroud now, right, and
even a little bit high because he's been in the
league a few more years and now we're looking at
him like when I roll through the top ten or
twelve players, he's not even he's not even on my radar,
not even top fifteen right now, that's less than a year.
Speaker 5 (02:06:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:06:38):
Now he comes out and goes three thirty for four touchdowns.
This week he's going to have one of those games
you think the question is is he is he that now?
Jones or where it's up in? Every week you don't
know what you're getting from him. I guarantee you there's
regret in that building. Oh yeah, right now about forget
the off the field stuff. They regret the performance. There's
got to be regretting there in what you're getting for
(02:07:00):
You talk about lack of r O I. I can
get any quarterback to play the way he's played so far.
Speaker 5 (02:07:05):
What are the own owner's names?
Speaker 6 (02:07:07):
Rooney, No, that's that's Pittsburgh Jimmy Haslam Haslam.
Speaker 5 (02:07:13):
Yeah, I guarantee you him and the general manager are
trying to find a way to get out of that contract.
Speaker 6 (02:07:18):
I've told you the other day, I said, if they
went along with Kevin Stefanski, if they're not sitting in
a room when they have their little weekly meeting and
going over did what is going on here? You know
there's regret there, and Jimmy has them not to be
confused with you. Donnis Hassel.
Speaker 5 (02:07:32):
Yeah, okay, yeah, former Miami he great, right, he may
he may own him better.
Speaker 6 (02:07:36):
Right, that's the case. Let's put you Donnis in there.
Speaker 5 (02:07:38):
Yeah, it might be a better Hasling, no doubt, Yeah,
there is no doubt. You remember that that silly little
narrative last year about Will Anderson being a bus because
he couldn't get sacks.
Speaker 6 (02:07:47):
Remember that.
Speaker 5 (02:07:48):
Come on, it's already starting getting Stop that. No, it's back,
it's back, baby. And this is a guy. What's this
guy's name? Hang on, let me find it, let me
find it. He is a uh, this is a former
New York Jets scout. His name is Daniel Kelly.
Speaker 6 (02:08:05):
Because he didn't get a sack in the first game.
Is that why?
Speaker 5 (02:08:08):
Yeah, just stop it. Yeah, well it's uh he wrote
an article about it.
Speaker 6 (02:08:14):
Great, that's a guy with an agenda, or when I
say agenda, note mean just for some reason. He just yeah,
he's not a Will Anderson guy.
Speaker 5 (02:08:22):
Apparently, Yeah he, I mean, he pushed this all last
year and he's already doing it again after just one week.
Let's talk about it, because I got some statistics about
UH Will Anderson Junior in game one. We'll discuss that
next right here on Sports Talk seven ninety. But also,
let's get you a home generator from Brotherly Love Electric.
Storm season is still here. Do not get left in
the dark when the power gets out, So let's get
(02:08:43):
let's prepare and get ahead of it. Calling this number

It's connection you can count on.
Speaker 12 (02:09:38):
Hey, listen, Charles Barker, you guys thought I put on
some way since my planning days. You shall see Sean
Solisborough troble. Now back to the Shan Solisborough Show. What
a knucklehead.
Speaker 5 (02:09:52):
In seven one three two one two five seven hinety,
Let's talk to Darryl. What's happening to Darryl?
Speaker 17 (02:09:58):
Hey, guys, good morning again? Yeah, I just said it.
Speaker 5 (02:10:01):
You are right.
Speaker 22 (02:10:02):
The Browns will do anything to get out of this
contract with Deshaun Watson. Couldn't come at a perfect time too.
I mean, think about it. If Deshaun is found guilty
of these charges like this, the Browns will get out
of it.
Speaker 17 (02:10:15):
They will get out of the contract with him. What
a perfect time for the Browns to find a way
and the rich people that they are, and they know
people and I'm sure they do to muster up old
girlfriends and old people to pay them to come forward.
I mean, after all these years, what a perfect time
to call this up. It's just too fishy at this time.
(02:10:36):
I think it's the Browns doing it.
Speaker 5 (02:10:39):
It's possible.
Speaker 17 (02:10:40):
I mean, I know it sounds far fetched. Don't count
that out.
Speaker 6 (02:10:45):
Yeah, how awful is that? If that's the case, I
don't know, you know where they stand on it. But
if that's the case, you're the one throwing him under
the bus. The harsh Yeah, how does that look. I'm
not buying that. I mean, I'm not dogging Darryl. I mean,
I get well his perspective. I would find that very
(02:11:05):
hard to believe. But in twenty twenty four, I don't
know what to believe anymore.
Speaker 5 (02:11:10):
Yeah, well they also right, Yeah, I app appreciate the call.
Speaker 6 (02:11:15):
I don't trust any of them.
Speaker 5 (02:11:16):
No, I mean they also but they also said that.
They also said that the Texans were trying to trying
to okie oak him, you know, because of the giving
him them as sag quote unquote let him use massage table,
rumor and all that crazy stuff like if you're Andrew Berry,
that's the GM, Yeah, right, the GM.
Speaker 6 (02:11:32):
And if you're Jimmy Haslam, the owner, and if you're
Kevin Stefanski, don't you aren't you sitting back don't. I
mean your jobs and not Haslins, Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski.
Speaker 5 (02:11:42):
You better.
Speaker 6 (02:11:43):
You need to start winning because a two hundred and
thirty million dollars it hitched to Andrew Berry's hip. Yeap,
their GM, So it'd be hard for me for them
to turn around an Oakie dope get out of it
because injured last year that they already think it's a
lost cause and a bust. I don't know if we're
there yet, We're headed there if this keeps up though,
as one of the worst, matter of fact, could possibly
(02:12:04):
be a top three worst trade in NFL history.
Speaker 5 (02:12:06):
Uh yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:12:08):
Think about the players and the impact they're having here.
Oh there's so many. Now go to now, now do
the way CJ. Stroud's playing here, and now go to
Cleveland and then take two hundred and thirty million dollars
guaranteed with you. It could kind of People can point
to the herschel Walker. I was a teammate of Herschel
Walker's a hell of a teammate, a really good player.
Eleven players for him, right, m H. And I get it.
(02:12:30):
But as far as and there's a lot of trades,
you're like, oh my gosh, what they do. But considering
the position quarterback, the money coming off what he came
off of, off the field, begging out of a city
and then going in there and being hurt and playing
average at best football, it will go down one of
the worst trades ever if this continues, and it's hard
(02:12:51):
for me to fathom that the team would be behind, Like,
let's get it out that he's done that, can't I mean,
especially since this team here it was he was here
in twenty two. Yeah, he wasn't in Cleveland, correct, So,
but it's twenty twenty four, dude. Between conspiracy theories and
truth that it's a very thin line apparently nowadays. Yeah,
in all things, right, so yeah, not just football, right,
(02:13:13):
they listen, they'll handle I'm let the people that are
above my pay grade handle the off the field stuff,
whether it's true or not. I can tell you this.
On the field, he's been average at best, consistently over
the last couple.
Speaker 5 (02:13:28):
Of years, at best at best. Yeah, I did.
Speaker 6 (02:13:32):
Dare anybody stand up and say you you'd rather have
Watson's game than than Stroud's game. Forget the offer. If
there's nothing in the offer, you tell me right now
that you want that Watson still got great game, that
you you would want him instead.
Speaker 5 (02:13:42):
Of Stroudim Stroud, I don't. It's not close. No. Now.
Speaker 6 (02:13:48):
If i'd have told you a Stroud's gonna be the
we're gonna forget completely about Watson because the guy coming
in behind him, we didn't even know what was gonna be.
Stroud will be better. You just said, come on, dude
five or sis stop right. If he didn't have any
problems off the field, you'd want to keep him here
and we would have never seen Stroud. That's the truth. Yeah,
begged out, got out and all the other stuff. But
(02:14:08):
when he gets right down to it, he can't hold
his jock right now, Deshaun's holding just CJ. Stroud's a far.
Speaker 5 (02:14:16):
Better player, yep, better passer, better everge everything.
Speaker 6 (02:14:21):
Yeah, better leader, better everything.
Speaker 5 (02:14:22):
Yeh.
Speaker 6 (02:14:23):
Better buy in, He's better everything.
Speaker 5 (02:14:25):
Yep. All right, let's talk Will Anderson Junior. So first
round mock is New York Jets scout, former New York
Jets scout Daniel Kelly. He put out an article a
couple of days ago, and he said, another zero sack
performance for Texans Will Anderson Junior against the Colts on
opening day twenty twenty four. I put a second round
(02:14:45):
pre draft grade on Anderson. He's not an elite pass rusher.
He should have never gone first round. Will Anderson Junior
Sean was double teamed on twenty percent of the pass
Russ snaps against the Colts. That's the fourth highest rate
of any defensive last weekend. And then on the play
where Fatuski are foot for two for two Casey recorded
(02:15:08):
his sack, Will Anderson forced two blockers into the backfield
directly contributing to the sack.
Speaker 6 (02:15:15):
Here we go again, we're just looking at the sheer
sack number.
Speaker 8 (02:15:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:15:19):
I think as a matter of fact, I think Will
Anderson's better than advertised because I think he's more versatile.
I mean, the next you know, whether you have him
in coverage at times, but he's active. I think Will
Anderson he's playing. Maybe the sack totals aren't fifteen like
you want as a rookie, and how many of those
guys go get fifteen sacks as a rookie. Okay, that's
not a normal occurrence. Yeah, it's so slow your roll
(02:15:42):
on that. But this, to me, the versatility of them,
I think he's every bit would advertise and I think
can be will be better in right now. There's no
ounce of disappointment for me on will Anderson, not one. Okay,
you'd like more numbers, but sometimes the things you're doing
and that the numbers of saxtone show up, like you
just read something else shows up right, that that helps
(02:16:05):
your team. And so for me, nah, I'm not buying it.
And I also former, yeah, former Jets scout. Now look
at that team. Yeah, I mean, before you know Roger's
healthy and they get beat this, we look at that team,
their struggles. So I'm not saying because he's a former
that he wasn't good at his job when it comes
to this, I think he's a bit hyperbolic on the
(02:16:26):
Will Anderson criticize away, but to say that he's you know,
I don't think he labeled him a bust.
Speaker 5 (02:16:33):
But if he's labeling him that, at some point you can't. Yeah,
I mean, he's not there. He keeps pushing this whole thing.
He's not getting het. He's shouldn't have been the first
round pick. He also should have been the defensive rookie
player of the year according to this guy.
Speaker 6 (02:16:44):
So what's my guy's name that was drafted by Jacksonville
with the first pick of the draft. Josh Allen the
defensive end, Yeah, Josh Allen, No, he's the linebacker. Sorry. Yeah,
after the year before Stroud. Yeah, And we talked about
this guy last the last year.
Speaker 5 (02:17:00):
God, what is his name? I can find it.
Speaker 6 (02:17:02):
Georgia didn't even have double jitu sacks at Georgia drafted
him first. Some would do him. Now, tell me his numbers.
And since he's been in the league, and maybe I'm wrong,
but tell me his numbers.
Speaker 5 (02:17:16):
God, what is his name? It's bugging me to.
Speaker 6 (02:17:22):
First pick and this will be what I think his
third year in the league. His third year in the
league is still Jacksonville, right, I believe?
Speaker 7 (02:17:32):
So?
Speaker 6 (02:17:32):
Yeah, third pick edge rusher linebacker. Edge rusher was the
very first pick. And I don't know what his numbers are,
but I'd like to know.
Speaker 5 (02:17:43):
Let's see.
Speaker 6 (02:17:44):
All's I gonna do is google twenty one, twenty twenty
walk that's it. Yeah, how many sacks he got in
his career? So farm as the first pick of the draft.
Speaker 5 (02:17:56):
Stats check it out. Fifteen and a half, So he
had three and a half in his rookie season.
Speaker 6 (02:18:02):
And so he's averaging. So this is year, three and
two years in a games, right, he was twenty twenty two,
so he's fifteen. So he's averaging about seven and a
half a season. That's about what his get to. Yeah,
so if he had three and a half his rookie year.
So did he have double digits last year?
Speaker 5 (02:18:17):
Yeah? So ten?
Speaker 6 (02:18:18):
Okay, so good player, and I think, I mean, they're
hoping that he turns out to be great. But so
seven and a half sacks makes him a bust or
ten and a half That three and a half his
rookiear makes the ball. We should have drafted him first.
Let's let the guy get a customed off. Those left
those tackles are pretty good, right, So the point is,
let's let him get through three or four years before
(02:18:38):
we say guy can't play a lick. Will Anderson's a player.
And it appears that Walker is getting better rushing the passer.
Matter of fact, he was a better pass rusher second
year Jacksonville than he ever was completely at the University
of Georgia. So people do get better if they're well coached. Okay,
so slow your role. I mean, I appreciate the guy's opinion,
but slow the role on the guy's not a good
player and should have been the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Yeah,
(02:18:59):
he didn't win it because a reputation he wanted because
he was a.
Speaker 5 (02:19:01):
Good football player. Yeah, he had a really good year.
Seven one three, two two five, seven ninety. We'll take
your calls on these Texans.
Speaker 4 (02:19:07):
Next, the Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 5 (02:19:15):
One.
Speaker 6 (02:19:16):
I got a couple of meetings, a couple of guests
podcasts have to do in Minnesota, and uh, you find
Duke's no Duke and I got a lunch eleven thirty
business meeting and then this afternoon you probably if the
links tell me there's no is there any rain today?
Speaker 5 (02:19:34):
I don't think so.
Speaker 6 (02:19:35):
I'll fire at the pen. I'm dressed for it.
Speaker 5 (02:19:37):
You sure are dressed for it. It's like every other day.
Speaker 6 (02:19:41):
Yep, that's a good call by you.
Speaker 5 (02:19:44):
Seven one, three two five seveninety, Anthony, what's happening?
Speaker 7 (02:19:48):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 5 (02:19:49):
Guys?
Speaker 7 (02:19:49):
So, I know you already said this, but I just
wanted to reiterate it. Will Anderson Junior was Defensive Rookie
of the Year. And also, like me, as a you know,
just a sports fan and and just a guy who
watches the games, can see that Will Anderson's the guy
that offenses are circling twice and we're not going to
(02:20:10):
let this guy beat us. So to me, like and
he did finish with seven sacks last year, and so
to me, like an NFL scout should be able to
look and say, you know, like the sack numbers aren't there.
But he's disruptive, he's fast, he's athletic, and he elevates
the guys around him and gives guys like Padricasi an
(02:20:32):
opportunity to make a place. So I don't think that
just him not sacking the passer the quarterback in one
game deems him a bust or that he should have
been a second round draft pick.
Speaker 6 (02:20:46):
I think that's factual. Good point, Anthony. And when you
watch on TV or somebody has an agenda to write it,
I'm not saying he has an agenda against Will Anderson
but doesn't like that he was, you know, a high
pick when when with that position, you can't just judge
it on sacks. Sacks look good, and you know what
sacks do do get you paid. Now, I can promise
(02:21:09):
you this, if a sack numbers hover around seven for
three more years, he won't make the money he wants
to make because they're gonna the team alone is gonna
go in and say we need more sacks. They're gonna
tell you what great player, but we need more sacks sacks.
You can find a guy that gets twelve, fourteen to
fifteen sacks a year and plays and comes out in
game and run situations, and he'll get paid more than
(02:21:31):
the guy who's a versatile all around player with less sacks.
Why because it just looks the part and it's disruptive,
and then the statistics show up on a piece of paper.
The great players impact games when they're not doing the obvious,
which is a defensive edge rusher. What do you want sacks?
Speaker 5 (02:21:47):
Sacks?
Speaker 13 (02:21:47):
Right?
Speaker 6 (02:21:47):
As the running back, you want yards. As a quarterback,
we want touchdown passes. You can dominate games as a
you know, I use this and I've used it before,
whether it's an edge rusher, a quarterback, wide receiver. How
do you impact a game? Like a point guard who
doesn't score, but he gets the ball to fifteen times
and gets Jason Kidd. Now, Jason kids could score times,
(02:22:09):
but there'd be times he has like six points and
he'd have fourteen rebounds and sixteen assists. Wow, he can't
be your point guard. I can't score, Yeah, can't, can't.
He's not a great three points. She's not Steph Curry. Okay,
did he impact the game?
Speaker 5 (02:22:26):
You think?
Speaker 7 (02:22:27):
So?
Speaker 6 (02:22:27):
It's the same thing here. What if he's the guy
drawing double teams and he gets seven eight sacks and
all of a sudden, Neil Hunter or somebody else the
line leads the league in sacks and he just happens
to be third on the list because he was the
guy that everybody was concerned about, because of his versatility.
Speaker 5 (02:22:40):
We got to see the forest through the.
Speaker 6 (02:22:41):
Trees, and he also I want to watch him in
the run game of getting your ass pushed around and
being stout. And they're better at that now too. So
how do you think Okay, are we even talking about
the sacks? I mean, I know pressure on the stroud.
What do you think they're talking about in Indy this week?
You better not let people run down your throat like
they did last week. They physically manhandled you. You're not
(02:23:03):
talking about how many sacks to Forrest Buckner had right now.
You're talking about did they get pushed around at the
line of scrimmage? So yeah, way, way too out of
hand to be saying, we'll you know, and it's the
guy's opinion. He's entitled to it, and we're learning at Creedens.
The only Creeens for Lennen is that he wrote it.
The bottom line is that there's nothing Will Anderson has
(02:23:23):
to apologize on his game seven sacks considering and remember
they went in as a horrible tackling team and he's
coming into a team that had three wins. Three wins.
Speaker 5 (02:23:35):
But this guy also did this all last year.
Speaker 6 (02:23:37):
Yeah see that part. I didn't know until you said it. Yeah,
he's he's got an under there's an underlying agenda for him.
It's almost like he wants to validate his second round
of picks exact.
Speaker 5 (02:23:47):
Scouts.
Speaker 6 (02:23:48):
I told you he should have sometimes you could take
the L two and calling him a second round pick
doesn't actually call him a hack. Second round picks are
pretty good in this league. So because you didn't like it,
what he wants to do is be able to go
on social media and say I should be scout. I
was a scout for the Jets, and I told you
that he was the second round grade and he plays
like a second rounder. That's what he wants to be
(02:24:08):
able to say, because if he's a first round of
a Peach Day, didn't you have Will Anderson, who as
an average player the second round pick on your no
wonder you're not a scout. That's how people respond. Doesn't
mean he's not quit his job.
Speaker 5 (02:24:19):
We're talking about if this guy really thought Will Anderson
Junior should have been a second round pick. We're talking
about one round difference, not not. This guy was a
seventh round pick.
Speaker 6 (02:24:30):
If you want to tell me now, man, we missed
the boat on Rock Purty. The guy should have been
a SECD round first round. If we drafted over, he'd
be a first round pick. But he's the last pick
of the draft. Okay, but guess what. There's a whole
lot of thirty two teams through six of the sixth
rounds and all the picks and thirty one picks went
through it and didn't draft Rock Party so they all
missed on his ass and forty nine ers took a
flyer and now he's a Pro Bowl quarterback.
Speaker 5 (02:24:51):
That that's not the norm.
Speaker 6 (02:24:52):
Okay, And Will Anderson and all the pressure coming in
Will Anderson best defense with all the awards, Listen, Will
Anderson's motor. He's a hell of a player. Would do
you hope at some point in time that more moves
and natural sack progression takes over and he's getting fourteen
he's Michael Parsons, Yeah, that'd be great. Michael Parsons is
a freak okay, and I think Will Anderson has freakish
(02:25:14):
talent as well, and maybe he's not the full natural
pass rusher, and as he continues to develop two years
from now, he's getting twelve fourteen a year. I told
you at the beginning of the year, I said between
the two, they're getting twenty five or more between he
and Hunter, and I'm sticking with that.
Speaker 5 (02:25:29):
Let's see Michael Parsons. Michael Parsons in his first year
thirteen sacks, thirteen and a half fourteen So double edit.
Speaker 6 (02:25:38):
Jesus freaking when we talk about Stroud being different, yeah,
Parsons is built different.
Speaker 5 (02:25:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:25:42):
So I'm still going with the gimme the over on
twenty five sacks between Hunting and I don't know if
it's going to be sixteen and ten, eighteen and twelve eighteen,
and I don't know, but the combination of he and
the Neil Hunter together. If they play a full season,
it's going to be between twenty five and thirty sacks.
I firmly believe that. Bless you, Thank you. Yeah, I
believe it as well.
Speaker 5 (02:26:02):
All Right, let's get to the final segment here on

Speaker 1 (02:27:41):
This is the Sean Salisbury show sales.
Speaker 2 (02:27:45):
That's goodiful.
Speaker 6 (02:27:47):
Starting to Matt, and I thought it was.
Speaker 5 (02:27:49):
I thought I was the only guy that goes through
that where you just want to be introverted.
Speaker 7 (02:27:51):
I did.
Speaker 6 (02:27:52):
I went for it was more rights years. Yeah, a
couple of year where I just I go to the man,
I'm telling you right now, and I try it's I
read write down, some wrote it down somewhere. And you say, well, Sean,
do they release one hundred movies a year? Some of
them are I'd go watch twice and pay for it.
Uh huh, So you know, go back again because you're
bored on the time. I did that two hours of
(02:28:12):
getting in the theater, and I'd watch movies that I
wouldn't you think, dude, you went and watch that. If
I get a little entertainment out of it, I'm all
thumb it up for at least five minutes, right, so
I could have popcorn.
Speaker 5 (02:28:22):
And I did.
Speaker 6 (02:28:23):
And I used to average minimum for two decades, going
to seventy five movies a year, sixty five movies a
year in the theater. Yeah, I went, I went to
I'd probably go forty now, but I and it don't
feel like they're And I know, even when they I
like the theater more when they bring it out and
watching home. I still like going to the movie theater.
Speaker 5 (02:28:42):
I do.
Speaker 6 (02:28:42):
I'm big on it. Yeah, And I just I don't
feel like they're producing as many of them anymore.
Speaker 5 (02:28:48):
I don't think they. I don't get to it.
