Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sewn Salisbury, The usc Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (00:22):
John Tripley, Good morning. What's happening? Sood morning?
Speaker 6 (00:27):
Say sup?
Speaker 7 (00:28):
Yeah, what's happening.
Speaker 8 (00:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (00:31):
It's a pretty uh what's the word?
Speaker 7 (00:35):
I want? A benign game last night?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
It was.
Speaker 9 (00:39):
Uh yeah, nine's perfect word, that's the best way to
put it. I'm kind of boring. Yeah, it was a
little bit boring. A lot of field goals. Brock Purty,
who's kind of played brock purty S football, right protect
it moved the ball enough. No, McCaffrey. I was disappointed
mostly in the Jets front seven. Yeah, they got pushed
around with the line of scrimmage with a backup running
back and took care of their business, So meaning forty
(01:03):
nine ers did.
Speaker 7 (01:03):
I didn't think it was a good showing.
Speaker 9 (01:05):
I think the Jets are better than that, especially offensively,
but defensively as well. Front seven they got the forty
nine ers man handled them, So it was a I
mean it was obviously when Rogers and forty nine ers
you go there, it's a good football team.
Speaker 7 (01:20):
You expect more from that man.
Speaker 9 (01:22):
I would expect more explosiveness from the forty nine ers
as well, And you don't want to keep getting the years.
Kicking six field goals is great, but you don't want
to spend too much time getting across midfield and having
to rely on field goals because at some point in
time those won't be enough. But thanks to fix. But
I think the most the forty nine ers are going
to be around the whole season and the Jets. You
can see that there's weapons there, but they there. Front
(01:45):
seven is going to have to be a little more stout. Yeah,
Aaron Rodgers looked a little rusty. Thirteen to twenty one
hundred and sixty seven yards. Tyrod Taylor even got in
the game six for eight thirty six yards. Breeze Hall
sixteen carries fifty four yards and a touchdown. The Jets
on the ground on the average barely over three yards
of carry. Yeah, they're going to need more of that,
(02:07):
and you can tell Rogers while getting healthy still isn't
I don't care anybody says one hundred percent on his
quick twitch movements and stuff that make him so good
in the pocket. But remember now he hadn't played football
in a year, and that year ago he played was
four snaps. And before that, you know, it was what
six months earlier when I mean not counting preseason, when
(02:29):
he ended up a football game in Green Bay. So
this is it's been a minute since he's played in
a live, full football game. But I'm not real concerned
about him. But the Jets, if they're going to let
somebody run for you know what the forty nine ers
did last night. Now it makes you want to say, man,
it doesn't matter who plays in that system, they always
get yards. Now, you're not McCaffrey, but it's nice to
(02:51):
know that McCaffrey can go out and you can dominate
the run game. And it was impressive last night. Run hard.
But yeah, it's the Jets are going to base their
team on being fit, physical upfront, not giving up big plays,
and they well keeping them out of the end zone
for the most part. They sure as hell did not.
They were not stiff and stout enough in the in
the in the front seven. And that's not a that's
(03:11):
not that won't bode well. It felt like a lot
of teams wanted run the football on the first weekend. Yeah,
it did run in well, it felt a little more
old school, like big boy football. We're not gonna fas
finasea where you're gonna We're gonna try to run down
your throat and prove to you this is who we are. Yeah,
And I felt like that all over the league. Now,
whether that gets back to coordinators doing what they do,
(03:34):
or if we've shifted on ball control and a little
bit more and now it's one game an aberration. I
think you're gonna still see more throwing with these quarterbacks
we have in the league. But I felt like and
maybe the the attemptile validated or not. Across the league,
it felt to me like more people wanted to establish
that they're big boys as opposed to that they can
finas you to death. Over the weekend and including last night.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
Yeah, it's like yesterday I remember asking you, uh, you know,
we were talking about quarterback play. There were only two
quarterbacks in Week one to throw for over three hundred yards.
One of them was to a tongue of ilo and
the other was Matt Stafford. Everybody else under three hundred
yards the kid for forty nine nine ers. Last night,
Mason ran for almost one hundred and fifty. Obviously, we
know Joe Mixon ran for a buck sixty here.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
CJ.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
Stroud through for two hundred and thirty four yards.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
But other than that, I mean throughout the league, Like
I said, Patrick Mahomes threw for two ninety one, so
close to three hundred, Baker Mayfield two eighty nine, Jalen
Hurts two seventy eight. That was kind of the average
between two twenty and two seventy five all throughout the league.
In Week one just weird, you know. I figured, Oh,
you can correct me if I'm wrong. I figured in
Week one of the NFL you would see quarterbacks try
(04:42):
to air it out a little bit, see what weapons
they can, see if they can kind of torch some
secondaries and things like that. Obviously, run the football, but
it was run heavy all week and long. And I
do expect defenses to be ahead. Offense is the first
couple of weeks because you're still trying to polish.
Speaker 9 (04:57):
Some guys were out. I mean, you're getting Ayuk in
late Aaron Rodgers hasn't played in a while. I mean,
you just go around the league and it just defenses
are usually more ahead because you can go some more
base defenses and still have an impact while you're still
trying to get the timing of stuff down with the
offensive line and run game and passing game. But yeah,
I and on the I do get I know why
(05:19):
people air it out and spread them out and see
what you got. But I also I think that running
the football there's almost an ego macho thing too, that
you're trying to send a message early as I think
we get to the point we think, well, quarterbacks, everybody
wants to drop back and throw it all the time,
being a gun that throwed forty times a game, blah
blah blah.
Speaker 7 (05:34):
But the truth is they do want to run it.
Speaker 9 (05:36):
And whether that's just how it worked or the optics
for us in the first week of the season, then
there'll be a week three weeks from now where four
quarterbacks throw for three hundred and fifty yards or more,
it'll be that that'll be the case. But I do
like coming out and I also think people kind of
tread lightly in game one. Don't turn it over, protect
the ball, play it close to the best, let's see
(05:58):
how this thing turns out. Keep a close will win
in the end, instead of you just don't what you
don't want to do is go out there and lose
Game one because you were careless with the ball. And
you know in the passing game a lot of things
on the negative side can happen even if a guy
runs the wrong route. Quarterback's not polished because it's the
first week, can see and protections aren't. They're still not
sewed up in protections because training camp so short. All
(06:20):
those things were in the run game, if you're physical,
that's three quarters of the battle. Then a running back
would be impatient and then squeeze in a football So
it doesn't shock me, but it felt like people wanted
to impose their will physically more in Game one offensively.
Then the norm will spread it out and do what
we've seen the last decade. It's just a quarterback league.
(06:40):
There was a running back league in a lot of
ways over the week. In an offensive line league.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
Is that like you talked about, like the macho things
that like to establish dominance early with your physicality up front.
Speaker 9 (06:51):
Well, if you're preparing for a boxer and you've never
seen him, and the first time you go and watch
him like he's your next opponent, you watch him and.
Speaker 7 (06:59):
He's just a body.
Speaker 9 (07:00):
Blow, powerful physical guy who can also take a punch.
What's the first thing you got when you're fighting four
months later? That's what stands out right, because I know
if you're going to fight some I say, you know what, men,
I watch him, saw the guy. He's not real, you know,
not real physical, but man, he's quick and he landed
that punch when he was falling away when a guy
missed and he was playing defense and then landed the
(07:21):
punch luckily, like we said it. I think for me,
I view a power puncher a little bit different than
I do a finesse guy in any sport. I do
that that guy. I mean, who are we in love with?
In baseball? Power pitchers? You don't fall in love with.
You fall in love with the Maddox once you see
him pitch. But that's not the guy you fall in
(07:41):
love with coming out of college, high school. You right,
you want to do a hundred physical, one hundred mile
an hour guy who you'd like to think he's also
a pitcher, not just a thrower.
Speaker 7 (07:51):
But if you're a hitter, you're like man.
Speaker 9 (07:53):
And when we talk about clothes, we ain't talking about
a ninety two mile an hour clothes you want a
guy to can pump at one oh one, even if
he's not throwing strike.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
You want Ben Joyce hundred and five.
Speaker 9 (08:01):
Right, So if you get that. So I just I
think it's part of we're coming out. And I think
coordinators too, trying to prove that they're deeps, trying to
prove the world walk in their chest puffed. I do
I know that comes into playoff sitting in those rooms.
We're gonna come out physically. This is a full blown
fistfight today, and once you get in it, you kind
of like staying in it. And then you hope you
(08:22):
have the passing game like a Purdier, a Rogers or
Mahomes that can can bail you out if the running
game is getting stopped and you can throw it all
over the place. So I do think there's something to it.
And I also think offenses, no, they haven't had a
lot of time. People are trying to make teams. You
start here. They came out with same attitude, Well let's
(08:43):
see what we got with I mean, I think they knew,
but let's go out there and show them who exactly
who Joe Mixon and what we are this year. Because
you'd never gone into the season power run game for
the forty nine, I mean for the Texans, even though
there it's a zone scheme, power run game, we're gonna
wear you out. Up front, you'd say, we hope they're
going to wear them out. It from but we know
Stroud can make every throw in the book. Well, they
(09:04):
came out this weekend and and and imposed there they did.
It was the run games. The reason they ended up winning,
not that the passing game couldn't have, but they came
out and hell, it's Joe Mixon and I don't even
think this past week and you were stopping mixing even
if you decided, you knew they were going to run
the football because he was bringing his own blocker himself
(09:24):
as well. So I do think there's something to it.
And now you've given somebody on something on tape for
people to say, oh gosh, and that first time. I'm
telling you people will always go back to it. Coordinators
or nuts. You give me one player, one series, or
one formation group or one personnel group. I'm just telling
you they'll spend a that they'll spend an hour a
(09:46):
day in their head saying what are we going to
do on this? The way they forma they line up
with a tight end and they in a wing and
they're going to run this counter away or they're going
to run, you know, stretch play at us. Man, How
are we going to do this if we're still in
regular person? All these things to go through the head
is like it was two plays, dude, it was two plays. Well,
(10:06):
they're panicked about that, and offenses love to send a
message that says, this is how you're gonna do it now.
That doesn't mean when they played the Bears this week,
they're not gonna come through forty times. Maybe they will,
maybe the Texans will. But what they've done is they've
now told the Chicago Bears and anybody else that plays
them is this is different this year. You better stop
this or we're going to destroy you. And now it's now.
(10:29):
If you get all that line of scrimmage stuff, guess
what you do. Now You get guys on the edge,
people are off coverage, you get corners on the outside
getting singleed, and now you can the passing perimeter. Passing
game can dominate. So there's a message to the madness.
And I think teams like the forty nine ers who
always send it. I think that that message was pretty
clear this week, and teams want to establish that they
can physically beat you, not just spread you out.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
I think it's pretty crazy to watch the forty nine
Ers last night and the offense that they run and
see how much the Texans mirror that style of offense.
Like I look at Jordan Mason obviously twenty eight carriese
hundred and forty seven yards. Joe Mixon had thirty carries
for one hundred and fifty nine yards. You mix in
Deebo Samuel on some jet sweeps which Bobby Sloy tanked
heel right, he saw Diggs as well, right, Diggs as well,
(11:10):
And then you look at like some of these receivers,
Dwan Jennings five receptions sixty four yards, Deebo Samuel obviously
with five receptions, even trying to get George Kittle into
the mix.
Speaker 6 (11:20):
For four receptions.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
But I look at these targets, right, So Deebo Samuel
had nine targets, Jawan Jennings had five, George Kittle had five,
Brandon I you had five. That's brock Party trying to
spread out the football. If you look at with Diggs,
Nico Collins, Tank Dell and then Joe Mixon coming out
of the backfield.
Speaker 6 (11:39):
It's it's so eerily similar.
Speaker 9 (11:41):
And they will even look more like when McCaffrey's in
the lineup because they'll be more involved in the passing
game with McCaffrey, just like there are mixing. I'm telling
you that they went and got Joe Mixon for a reason,
he says, put it this way of the gut. Now
Barkley was a possible get Tae Kwon bark and catch
the ball on the backfield as well, And that's a
huge get for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 7 (12:01):
Three touchdowns in the first game.
Speaker 9 (12:03):
But there's a handful of dudes that know how to
run it and that you trust in the passing game
and their three down backs. And when the forty nine ers,
when Bobby Slowick leaves San Francisco, that's what he wanted
to bring here, and now he found it back in
that that they could go get that they could go
get and apply exactly what he wants to do. And
you saw who they really want to be. And that's
(12:24):
and if he has it his way, they'll run it
like that every week and throw it thirty times and
they'll be good to go.
Speaker 5 (12:30):

Salisbury on Sports Talk seven nine colors.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
How about the performance.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
Your home for Houston Astros baseball?
Speaker 9 (14:13):
Was it a thriller minute? I mean the Texans to
take the Texans out of it?
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (14:18):
What was what was your excitement level in the NFL
this weekend?
Speaker 5 (14:21):
The excitement leading in was fantastic, But then I'm talking
about game coming out of it. I mean it's just like,
was that a little bit was that preseason Week three?
Speaker 9 (14:29):
Did it feel a little bit like anti climactics, Like, Okay, now,
the Texans were impressive. They really want to if you
went through the five most impressive teams in the league,
uh huh, you could go through resilience of a couple
of teams. But the Texans were extremely impressive. Right, Yeah,
they've they've got some things they got to work on.
But in week one they had some things going on
(14:50):
that you're like, Okay, that looked like Week six looked
like they got to do it d especially in the
run game obviously, and how physical they were. So it
just was like a okay, and maybe last night's game
had something to do with it, because that was kind
of blah a little bit, right with all the field goals,
it didn't And I know we love close games and
forty one thirty eight, but we actually got a little
old fashioned football this past weekend.
Speaker 7 (15:10):
Yeah, Bear's gutting out a.
Speaker 9 (15:12):
Win, coming from behind, and you know, Caleb Williams started slow,
ended up doing for what two seventy eight or something,
I mean to ended up having a good game. You
start to go around and think, okay, I mean, Baker Mayfield,
some teams played a little bit of old school, right,
I mean, it's not like the Chiefs threw it sixty
times in their game either. I mean they you know,
had to gut their game out. You saw last night,
I mean it was a I did the one of
(15:35):
the better games, you know, the Detroit Lions and the
Rams getting after it, which was a fun game for
Stafford to go back home. So there are some good games,
but it was I guess maybe I don't know, And
even the college football weekend was kind of a yeah, right,
Other than the Notre Dame upset and some you know,
teams you expected to win, it wasn't. It was just
it was I still think people are feeling their way
and maybe that's normal. But going in, Oh, you were
(15:57):
pumped about the weekend, there's no doubt. But it's only
going to get better, which will be cool. And if
it only gets better for the Texans, that's going to
be a fun division to play in.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
Yeah, you know, I think for the college football weekend,
Texas dominated Michigan and then Notre Dame being upset.
Speaker 9 (16:11):
Didn't you feel like Texas was going to dominate Michigan
After about the middle of the first quarter, I thought
they were going to dominate him. Going to the weekend, anyway.
But I mean, and it was validated early, right it didn't.
I mean, once I saw Michigan's offense two or three series,
I said, they got no shot. Yeah, none, because Texas's
defense was mauling them. And I'm not sure they're very
good even if a defense isn't mauling offensively just personnel,
(16:32):
They're just not the same. But do I say Texans
University of Texas and they they're speaking of somebody who's
sent in a loud message on running the football and
being physical the Texas on both sides of the ball.
I'm telling you, I think they are legitimate. I know
they're ranked three, and they were legitimate coming in. But
that's not sugar coating, that's not faking it. That's not
(16:52):
a fake team, man, that you sell. Because they got
a good quarterback and a play calling coach. They've got
every element you want, including a run game. Because of
the depth of their running backs and the physical front man.
They were better than Michigan's offensive line, and Texas's offensive
line was better than Michigan's front and and we talked
about well big ten and SEC football are physical. Will
(17:16):
turned out okay for sarking his group. Yeah, so I
just that they it was gonna be a hell of
a season. And it felt like both Saturdays and Sundays
were getting back to we're gonna beat you the right way,
or hey, win it anyway, you'll take it. But just
a little bit of old school football this past weekend,
and both Saturday and Sunday at times it felt like
to me.
Speaker 6 (17:34):
Yeah, did you see by chance.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
What Sarkegan said to his team, I think it was yesterday,
basically using Notre Dame as an example, saying, hey, don't
get we can't get complacent. Look what happened to Notre Dame.
We're not gonna We're not gonna be Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Who said that?
Speaker 5 (17:51):
Sand Yeah, to say, because they're playing Texas is playing
Utsa this weekend.
Speaker 9 (17:56):
And you say, is coming off a tough loss to
somebody to be who'd they get beat by over the weekend.
Let's see now, yeah, somebody beat them over the weekend.
They were like, whoa, They handle them pretty pretty emphatically.
If I'm if I didn't drink Texas State, there you go,
beat the breaks of forty, there you go. They put
(18:17):
it on utsa and utsa for the last three or
four years has been a hell of.
Speaker 7 (18:20):
A football program. So damn yeah, impressive.
Speaker 9 (18:24):
So of course you don't, You definitely don't because somebody
comes in with a little Northern Illinois attitude. You don't
play great football and turn one or two over. Let
a team hang around. But I got news for you
this weekend. They UTSA is taking a second loss. Yeah,
they're not winning this game either.
Speaker 5 (18:42):
Yeah that's gonna be. It's a tough sledding for the
road runners. Excuse me to go to Austin and try
to try to beat ut because ut is pretty damn
good man. Yeah, just I just think all weekend long,
football wise, like the excitement level was there, but then
coming out of it, like you asked earlier, is just
it's like, man, kind of I wouldn't say boring, but
just kind of.
Speaker 6 (19:03):
Uh mid Is that a right word? That correct word?
Speaker 7 (19:06):
That's what the kids are saying.
Speaker 9 (19:07):
Yeah, are they Yeah, the kids are still saying it
triple here yep? Oh yes, okay, mak sure, I think
the kids are still saying it. They're still saying yes,
they are okay, good good.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Hey.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
By the way, I saw this early this morning, uh,
before I came into the station. Jordan Mason, the kid
running back last night, apparently found out that he's he
was going to start on Friday. Now the NFL is
going to have to investigate the forty nine ers for
not uh telling the league that Christian McCaffrey had a
change in his playing status.
Speaker 9 (19:40):
Oh gosh, doesn't the league have enough things they got
to fix?
Speaker 10 (19:45):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (19:45):
Man, are they gonna gimmick ass us now and tell
us you got to give the injury report on Mondays?
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (19:50):
Well he did it? Was it last year?
Speaker 9 (19:51):
They did last year for a Sunday game? Do it
on Mondays a week before the game?
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (19:55):
They did it last last year with Joe Burrow because
the media team for the bang caught him with with
the thing on his wrist what does it call, like
an air cast or whatever, and he was supposed I
can't remember if they said he was gonna play or
not play, but whatever it was. The Bengals didn't report it,
and they see he's got it on his hand and
he didn't play, and they went back and I think
(20:17):
they find the team just, you know, micromanaging from from
the NFL dog.
Speaker 9 (20:22):
I understand the reasons why we do it, but you
know the biggest reason why we they want you to
tell us who was hurt. It's not so much that
you're concerned about your opponent. I love the games. I'd
like the games and ship I think I think there's
a part of me the once you never have to
report an injury.
Speaker 7 (20:37):
Yeah, you just keep it in house. Why did you
like apply It's.
Speaker 9 (20:41):
Like hippo laws to I doub on the field not
having to turn it in because it'd be cool. Could
you imagine if you're going into the game and you're
not You're you've spent the whole time preparing for McCaffrey
and you come out there and he's in uniform walking
through warm ups and all a sudden game starts and
he's not playing. Yeah, you're I mean you wouldn't be
kind of fun gamesmanship. Yeah, it's for gambling, and it's
for gambling.
Speaker 6 (20:59):
Yeah, but we know that.
Speaker 9 (21:00):
But I'm talking about they'll tell you it's because well rules,
we don't want people breaking the rules and hiding.
Speaker 7 (21:04):
But whatever it is they're going to use.
Speaker 9 (21:06):
The truth of the matter is they don't want Vegas
to go haywire because McCaffrey. If if you name ten
five players in the league, or three players in the
league not named a quarterback that are missing a game
Michael Parson. I'm talking about a non quarterbacks position. You'd
say McCaffrey's one of those three, or Michael Parsons on
(21:27):
defense top. If you go into Dallas, you're prepared for
Parsons and all of a sudden he doesn't play or
you're expecting him not to play, and he does play.
Speaker 7 (21:34):
Can you imagine how your protections.
Speaker 9 (21:36):
Are, like, uh, we thought he wasn't playing because they
didn't announce it, and he's been hurt most of the
week and he didn't practice, we heard, and then he
comes out there and plays and he's running like a
you can't get out of your stands by time. That
it's you have hard enough time blocking him when you
are prepared for him. So there's this sinister part of
me that wants I wish we never had to tell
anybody about injuries, right, But then the gambling part. Then
(21:58):
I'm gonna speak out of both sides of my mouth. Well,
I need to know on with my side of it,
is Aaron Rodgers playing in the game. Is my quarterback
healthy enough to play? And as McCaffrey playing. So yeah,
it's all about the dollars. Oh yeah, question about no
other reason? Yeah, for all the money. Yep, that's what
it is.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Always.
Speaker 6 (22:14):
Let's continue to talk.
Speaker 5 (22:15):
Houston Texans Tamiko Ryan said he was proud of the
defensive line for stopping the run for Indianapolis. We'll hear it,
discuss it. Also a little more on Joe Mixon and
his performance. That's next to Sports Talk seven ninety.

Well.

About the Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
Talking about Joe Mixing yesterday and media availability. Obviously, Joe
Mixon had a hell of a Texans debut in the
regular season. This was the wide receiver for the Houston Texans.
Talking about Joe Mixon.
Speaker 11 (24:18):
What does it look like, Joe miss crazy, miss different?
Speaker 10 (24:22):
Man?
Speaker 11 (24:23):
I told him like before the season, like, of course
we knew who Joe mix was because his name was
around the league, was watching them, but to see it firsthand,
like when we went to get them last year, I
ain't see this firsthand because you know, I'm rooting against him,
but like to be on his side and like to
actually see running people over, carrying people five in three yards,
(24:44):
just doing what he do. Man, that was a sight
and to see and did getting in there scoring two
touchdowns when it count. Man, it's just a siting man.
And that's just like a little bit of what we
could do. Like we still gonna have to build, you know,
we still gotta go in there and fix the things
we need to fix and clean up some things. But
it's gonna be a want season all years.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
So we're gonna call him Mix.
Speaker 9 (25:06):
That what the peoples are calling him mix he was
in the mix? Uh what do you call him?
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Jay?
Speaker 7 (25:14):
Mix mixy, mixie?
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (25:18):
What about son mixed?
Speaker 9 (25:20):
Son?
Speaker 7 (25:20):
See what they did there?
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Up?
Speaker 9 (25:22):
Son? Yeah, keep keep dogging him son, No mix mixie,
mix mixy.
Speaker 5 (25:26):
If they call John Singleton singing, why are we not calling?
Don't call Joe mix and Joe mixy. It doesn't look
like mixy. He doesn't look like a mixy.
Speaker 6 (25:36):
I mean singing, doesn't look like singing.
Speaker 7 (25:38):
I'm just gonna call him. I'm gonna call him Joe.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Joe.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
Yeah, okay, just Joe. Why does everybody need a nickname? Well,
I guys, I guess how does.
Speaker 7 (25:51):
He look like a maybe mix? Is that what you're saying?
Speaker 9 (25:54):
Let's call him mix like the like the first teammates
called let's see what's easier to say Joe were mixed.
There's still three letters, so it's not like you're shortening it,
which probably just give me both of them. Like you
hollered at me across the field. Call me Joe first. Okay,
you need to get my attention. How you're saying it?
(26:14):
If you yeah, I'm Joe over there, you need to
get my attention. Okay, now there, say Joe.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Joe, it's the same thing.
Speaker 9 (26:23):
Yeah, So which one? Which one feels a little more
as the kid? How would the kids say it?
Speaker 1 (26:29):
Mixed?
Speaker 6 (26:29):
Yeah, probably mixed for sure.
Speaker 9 (26:30):
Yeah all right, Yeah, that's just a little cooler, right,
It's mixed.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Man.
Speaker 6 (26:36):
It's like when Pep Hamilton was here.
Speaker 9 (26:40):
Yeah, I got you different result of when Pepper was
here though. Wait wait was a little better offense? God,
what a little more exciting a couple of years that was? Yeah,
think about what I want you to think about where
we were go through two years of two different coaches.
Think about the whole thought of this organization, the roster,
(27:01):
how they want, the coaching, the energy, and the lack
they're just all of it. Not that they weren't good
coaches known as head coaches. No, I want you to
think about the whole thing for the front office and
then just everything about it. Yeah, this whole I mean,
at this point in time, we're like season's over, got
(27:22):
no shot.
Speaker 7 (27:23):
Two games in you already think you got no shot.
Speaker 9 (27:25):
They weren't any good and it's the culture that there's
just the energy and just the way that they go
about wins and losses, all of it no, yeah, mix, yeah, mix,
we'll call it mix.
Speaker 7 (27:40):
You love to do that, like the mix dog. Yeah,
And you got a point though, you have to.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
You got what it is. Yeah, it's my dog, my dog.
Speaker 7 (27:55):
That's the way it is. That's my dog.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
Yeah, it's it's always the it's like in a state hands,
like for pregame warm ups.
Speaker 6 (28:01):
It's always the drunk white dude. I'm telling you always.
Speaker 9 (28:04):
But then after he'll say it once, he'll look at
his boys and if if it's my dog, yeah, and
they altern it, wait for the turn to look and
he made his whole day, right ya you want me, y'all,
y'all want to say, what's up?
Speaker 12 (28:12):
Joe?
Speaker 9 (28:12):
Yeah, Yeah, I walked by the bar ten years ago.
That's my boy, man. But you do got a point.
Speaker 7 (28:17):
Though I met him.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
I met him in Sincy. We've been dogs ever since.
Hang On, I'll get his attention to worry about Joe.
Speaker 9 (28:24):
But the best saying, too is when he're doesn't even look,
just to just to hint to the fans in the stands,
like during that pregame when fans are filed and then
and they can kind of still hear you when they're
walking out and doing their warm up is call him
by the nickname. Because you call him by the nickname,
they think it's one of their their dogs, it's.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
One of their boys.
Speaker 9 (28:43):
We all do cells. Ye, Like I'm looking Sean. It's
like some guy's gonna say something stupid, right, So you
got to you gotta play the points.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Yeah, go Doug. You gotta sell it. Oh you do
sell it, Sprigs.
Speaker 9 (28:58):
I'm like, what triple I fill your dogs?
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Triple peet me up in this bitch dog. You remember homecoming?
But no, I met him.
Speaker 6 (29:17):
I met him at homecoming. I met at a homecoming.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Man.
Speaker 9 (29:19):
Then you go over there and it's like, cool, I
got you, can't know you? And then you then you
call the guy back dog. Yeah, so if you don't,
it was up dog Yeah, like I got you.
Speaker 5 (29:31):
Yeah. Mix, we're not calling Joe mix and mixing. No,
don't ever. Yeah, imagine going into going into BP and
yelling singing at John Singleton sing terrible, Yeah, exactly get
that again. Ain't even not even turning around for that one.
(29:54):
You think they really call him in the in the clubhouse.
Speaker 9 (29:57):
I hope not. God, me neither. Please don't let that
be the case. No, please know.
Speaker 7 (30:04):
Yeah, forty nine ers want to know Texans wan to no.
Speaker 6 (30:08):
One and oh you know what you gotta do?
Speaker 5 (30:10):
Win every week, win each day, rents due, dog pay it,
make plays or whatever. JJ Watt says. He said it
again in the Texans type video. He about yeah, rent
being due or something like that.
Speaker 6 (30:24):
Hang on me. What if you're paying mortgage? Exactly? That's
my whole.
Speaker 7 (30:27):
If you're paying mortgage, you're invested in a long time.
Speaker 9 (30:29):
You got a thirty eight What if you signed a
thirty year deal, You're going at the six per six
and a half percent on thirty years.
Speaker 7 (30:37):
It ain't no rent. That's mortgage.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
Success isn't own. It's least and it's yeah, it's least
and rent is due every day.
Speaker 9 (30:46):
Yeah deep, I real deep by JJ. Yeah, justin James Watt,
justin James Watt.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
JJ twenty bucks says he tries to come back and
play for the Texans like late in the season.
Speaker 9 (31:00):
Ain't no way, watch, ain't no way why he's now
sitting there. There's no Boomera size and no Phil sims.
He got the weekly job, not just once in a while.
He's a fixture on it. You're doing these beer commercials.
He gets put the coat and tie on. Yeah no, yeah,
he ain't coming back. Yeah, watch, he ain't coming back. Plus,
(31:21):
the truth of the matter is this is gonna sound crazy, Sure, don't,
it's fact.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (31:28):
I mean.
Speaker 9 (31:31):
He's not gonna I mean, you know you're not gonna
play him every down no football. So yeah, no, I'm
gonna tell you that he's not coming back, like I said,
And how when time you talk about three time defense players.
Speaker 7 (31:42):
Oh, we don't need him. He's well here, but two
years removed, this will be year too removed.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Is that all right? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (31:47):
Sounds right?
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (31:48):
I mean you know how JJ is though, he loves
make things about himself.
Speaker 9 (31:52):
You know, maybe he'll start doing some box jumps. Who
knows he already does that exactly. Yeah, And I don't
mean to disrespectful him, but in truth, they really don't. Well,
I mean, having him around is great, but as a
football player they got they got some good football players.
Speaker 7 (32:07):
They moved on.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
And I mean Ajay's got a good gig.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
He's just trying to pay his rent. It's due every
day every day. Yeah, because success isn't on its least
and rent is do every day.
Speaker 6 (32:19):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 5 (32:21):
All right, let's talk about the defensive line for the
Texans and stopping the run game.
Speaker 6 (32:25):
What improvements can they also make in the secondary? That's next.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
You're back.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
This is the Sean Salisbury shown.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
Get back at it.
Speaker 6 (32:36):
Talk to Texans seven three seven. He is the number
to join.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
Damian.
Speaker 8 (32:40):
Good morning, Hey, good morning guys. Uh, I would just
call in. I want to We were talking about you
guys were talking about, you know, the run game a
little bit, and I want to say it's it's very
inportant encouraging the young man King and Green, Uh to
see how he's rebound on it from you know how
(33:01):
early on it started off looking out too promising.
Speaker 10 (33:05):
You know. Uh, he went to tax to see the
high school with my son and graduated twenty nineteen. And
I you know, it was early on a lot of
people were considering him thinking thinking that he did a bust.
But I figured, you know, the guy, he put in
a lot of work, you know, and come from a good,
good background. His dad Henry and mom Srilana, good people.
(33:25):
So I'm and I'm kind of glad for them as
well because I know the hard work they put in
with the young man. So I just want to say that. Yeah,
looking real good for him now and and Casero, we
got to, you know, kind of trust his process because
people were hard on Serio about that pick initially, so
I was just saying, it looks good man. I'm glad
(33:46):
that he's coming around. And I know it's one game,
but dude, Sean, do you think this is something that
he could that's that he can that he'll sustain and
where the Texas are we locked in at that at
that at that guard position.
Speaker 7 (33:59):
Now, and I'll yeah, Damien, thanks, I do.
Speaker 9 (34:04):
As you mentioned, it's one game sustaining good play and
making sure that your sound not only you know, once
a ball snap, but pre snap and penalties and all that.
And for a guy who basically is still a rookie, right,
I mean he's still I mean when he come to
playing experience, right, the guy hasn't played, so he just
he's still feeling his way through it. And I thought
(34:25):
it was it was an impressive first go. You're counting
on him to play like a first rounder. But yeah,
good start. And I always love hearing good family and
support system. And I always love seeing a guy rehab
and come back and be ready to play and understand
it and I have talked to somebody in the past
who told me about him after his draft had said
he's got some nasty in him. He's a good player
(34:45):
that trusted him watching him at A and M and
I like that. So he seems to have put the
time in to get himself ready to play, and one
game we'll judge him or the continuity of keeping them
all unhealthy. But yeah, I can't begin to tell you
how important it is a lock up the interior of
a pot locket for a guy who's a premier pocket
passer and top three or four in this league and
c J. Stroud, you want people away from your legs
(35:07):
and away from your body so you can feel comfortable.
I know we always focus on the edge because the
Parsons are out there and the Bosus tackles got to
block them. But smart teams are doing a lot of
different Look what the Chiefs do with Chris Jones inside
and outside. You try to find the weakest link if
you can fight and won an offensive line and put
your best player there. Why do I want your best
player going against my You want your Michael Parsons rushing
(35:29):
against Anthony Muno. Soul time now because then it's a
stalemate and neither one of them get then that's a
win for.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
The old line.
Speaker 9 (35:35):
If your Michael play like, well, I'm not running away
from competition, but I'd like to play their fourth best
offensive lineman. Then the best guy in the world at
left tackle right, So you move, stand him up, put
him in, stick him in the A gap.
Speaker 7 (35:46):
And I think that with Kenyan Green.
Speaker 9 (35:48):
You continue to do that, you just create more opportunities
for your offensive line to be better. Drafting him as
a first rounder, expect him to play as a first rounder,
and it was a good start, Damian, no question about it.
Speaker 5 (35:58):
Kenyan Green played left tackle at a tack Casta high school.
Do you know who the quarterback was at the Taska
seat To High school at that time? Taska Seed to
what's the year twenty nineteen, twenty nineteen?
Speaker 7 (36:08):
Is so?
Speaker 9 (36:08):
Is he in the NFL or college right now? Still
in college? The quarterback? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (36:12):
I can't know.
Speaker 6 (36:12):
He's actually a baseball player in the minor leagues.
Speaker 9 (36:16):
Baseball player in the minor leagues, So I would I
know him?
Speaker 10 (36:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (36:20):
Yeah, yeah, a Taskaeda. Did he go to college to
play football? No, he went to college to play baseball.
Could have but he chose baseball.
Speaker 7 (36:29):
Who is it?
Speaker 6 (36:30):
Bryce Matthews the kid he just got promoted?
Speaker 5 (36:34):
That Bryce, he just got promoted last night to tria A.
Speaker 9 (36:38):
Well, he's the hell of a player. I didn't know
what you were talking about. He was in this organization.
Speaker 7 (36:43):
No, I know.
Speaker 9 (36:43):
Bryce Matthews is the guy who talking Because I didn't
know who the quarterback at the Taska yet.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
I thought maybe because of all the quarterback training, I
thought maybe you would And.
Speaker 9 (36:49):
I didn't even if I knew. If you said Bryce
Matthews played, yeah, I know the name. Where'd he play?
Speaker 7 (36:53):
Again?
Speaker 9 (36:54):
So no, I would That's what I would have said.
I wouldn't have put him in a Taska seed together.
So he was Kendyan Green's quarterback. Yeah, oh that's cool.
Bryce Matthews was a standout quarterback. Yeah, no offense that
he'd probably been a really good quarterback. But guess what
you made.
Speaker 6 (37:07):
Yeah, he just got promoted last night double a corpus
up to.
Speaker 9 (37:11):
And we know that this organization seems to have high
hopes are high on him, no doubt about it.
Speaker 5 (37:16):
Yeah, went to Nebraska to play baseball, obviously, got drafted
by the Astros and he's excelled.
Speaker 9 (37:21):
Uh so, I didn't know he was a Kenyan Greens quarterback.
That's pretty good. That's a couple good way to win games.
Having a quarterback in a guard who's pretty I'm sure
there was a few other Division one players on that team.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
Yeah, that team was the task seat has got pretty
much a powerhouse.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
They're pretty skilled.
Speaker 10 (37:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
In high school football, it's doctor Andy. Andy was going
on Charlie hack Man, how he played well, didn't.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
He sh.
Speaker 12 (37:44):
I ain't got much for Charlie.
Speaker 10 (37:47):
Well anytime?
Speaker 5 (37:48):
Going on the road now triplele his connections poor? Can
you uh can you get on that? Please go to
bit Andy like that.
Speaker 7 (37:55):
You gotta do that.
Speaker 9 (37:56):
I like you, you know what I mean. You don't
call him angry Andy anymore? How come he's been He
has been angry, you've been in verse spot on man
his energies after it. I kind of like it when
he gets fired up and gets hopefully he'll come in
here and he's mad. Okay. Predictions. Has Andy got Verlander
in his verbiage today? No, I think it'll be tech
period text textans. Yeah, we love our guy and he
(38:16):
what was it a little little discond? We have a
little phone trouble once. Yeah, about a call to day.
We have a little phone trouble. Yeah, and it's not
being a callback. He's in he's in the hospital. I
think he just had a treatment. He said, Oh, okay,
it's not you. It's what do we say when it's
some of it? It's not you, it's me. Yeah, is Andy?
Speaker 13 (38:32):
Okay, Yes, he's fine, Yes, okay, he did say he
will try to call back here.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
Okay, he's right in the hospital.
Speaker 7 (38:38):
We want to make sure he's all right to one
of our main guys.
Speaker 5 (38:40):
Yeah, speaking of you know, you talk about Justin Verlander
yesterday or excuse me just now yesterday between Justin Verlander
and Cleveland Brown fans just wanting calling for Jameis Winston
to be their starting quarterback over to Shaun Watson. Oh
my gosh. And also Justin Verlander, a lot of people
don't want him on the playoff for all the.
Speaker 9 (39:01):
Time, there's still about three or four stars left. Let's
see how he finishes the season. A great thing about
is you don't have to make the decision right now.
Speaker 6 (39:07):
You don't.
Speaker 9 (39:08):
It's no big deal, right, you know, I mean, you're
gonna keep pitching him. He's justin Verlin. You don't have
to make the decision. Playoffs aren't tomorrow, So that's an answer.
So let's play it out and see what happens. Go
win a division and and then and go from there.
But back to the Browns. Could you imagine if they
made that after all this, they made the decision, because
what that would tell you they lost complete faith. And
if that's the case, it can go nowhere. But I
(39:29):
mean so I also I read I read something. They
can't do that. Dude, Yeah, so they can't. But there's
something in his contract. Well if it's if conduct detrimental yes,
oh yeah, now that if they're saying, now, you're gonna
find out how much support they give him the organization
back him on this, to know if they're like, well,
if this kicks in, it saves us a lot of money, yeah,
(39:51):
or we got this our guy. I'm assuming they think
that's their guy, but they you got to see more. Listen,
you're not wishing something on somebody. If he didn't do
you don't want anybody for false excues. But if he
did do it, then you've got to you got to
pay the price for whatever it is you did, especially
if you set assault.
Speaker 6 (40:09):
Correct, Yeah, this is different. Yes, this is nice.
Speaker 5 (40:12):
Isn't sexual harassment? This is alleged sexual assault, right, which
is much different? Yes, and both heinous but much different. Yes,
so we'll see.
Speaker 9 (40:20):
But yes, there's always that conduct detrimental clause in a
contract that now you'd have to fight it and go
to the organization. But I don't know where they are.
But can you imagine after all this, they're already calling
after game one? Yeah, this year for Jameis Winston. Yeah,
it's nuts. And it's also you look at it if
it goes that way, if it goes south like that, man,
(40:41):
I mean you look at let's let's Browns fans thought
they I mean, how you just you know what I
guess the object is or the moral of the story.
Maybe don't go play. I hate to say it. Those
Browns fans are really good fans for they love it
old school. When are they going to get Delta, good
quarterback that plays like he's like you went out and
paid for him to get the plays like you paid
(41:02):
for or were you drafted a guy not Watson but
any of them? Right, It's like you go there in Mayfield,
you thought you had him kind of had him, didn't
have him, kind of had him. I thought you really
had him. Now he's gone. Yeah, Watson pay too though.
We got the and I think we would have all
thought that Cleveland got a great quarterback. Right, I'd just
say a great person. That's up to you to de
great quarterback. He's been anything but that says he's been
(41:22):
in Cleveland and well he can't get on the field. Well,
guess what part of the deal is. Yeah, you got
to be durable. Yeah, and he hasn't been. Let's let's
continue to talk about this. Next says we beginning at
the seven o'clock hour right here on the Shawn Salisbury Show, Houston.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Houston and iHeart Radio station.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety and the Rockets, your

Speaker 2 (41:56):
Subury O Right, Shawsbury, Houston. Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
Sean Salisbury, usc Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (42:09):
Brianl Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (42:16):
Latest case is coming from an alleged incident in October
twenty twenty. This time it accuses him of sexual assault
and battery while on a date with a woman here
in Houston.
Speaker 6 (42:32):
These allegations are.
Speaker 5 (42:36):
Pretty disturbing, to say the least. I guess the Apparently
the woman didn't feel comfortable going out to dinner in
public with him and wanted to have dinner at her
apartment with him.
Speaker 1 (42:54):
Again.
Speaker 5 (42:55):
This is I'm quoting straight from the article quote. When
Watson finally arrived at Jane Doe's apartment, that's the woman
in this lawsuit. Jane Doe had not finished putting on
her makeup, so she invited Watson in to have a
seat in her living room while she finished getting ready.
As she was putting on makeup in her bathroom, the
Jane Doe left the bathroom door open and attempted a
conversation with Watson, trying to ease attention from his angry outburst,
(43:18):
which happened prior to him being lost trying to get
to her apartment. He freaked out on her on the phone,
saying I can't I don't have time for this, I
can't find her apartment, blah blah blah. Jane Doe quickly
began to believe she was talking to herself because Watson
wasn't responding. Jane Doe came out of the bathroom to
invest against Watson's silence and found him completely naked on
(43:39):
her bed, lying face down on his stomach. While Jane
Doe stood there in shock, Watson turned his head and
aggressively insisted that she massage massage his buttocks.
Speaker 7 (43:49):
Let me ask you a question.
Speaker 9 (43:54):
I know you want to smirk at that, not at
the situation, but the way how you have to read it. It
comes if you did know severity of it, right, Yeah,
she said that she wanted to beat at the crib
or didn't want to go out in the out on
the town with U.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
Huh?
Speaker 9 (44:08):
Is it because she didn't want to be seen with
him because of his reputation?
Speaker 5 (44:11):
Probably? Is that why I'm assuming? Or is she tired
and just wanted to stay home? Assuming I would assume that.
Speaker 9 (44:17):
We just didn't want to think, oh that's a woman vegetation. Yeah,
I didn't want to didn't want to be out seen
with him. That is there part of that, like hide
me from everybody wondering if I'm dating you type of thing.
Speaker 7 (44:28):
I don't know, I'm That's why I'm.
Speaker 5 (44:29):
Asking or maybe, well, so this happened in twenty twenty,
so COVID stuff. Maybe maybe maybe that maybe she wouldn't
want to go out as a professional athlete out in
the public, or didn't.
Speaker 9 (44:38):
Have to go wear a mask if they were making
anywhere they as to walk into a restaurant.
Speaker 1 (44:41):
Whatever that as well.
Speaker 7 (44:42):
Yeah, so she said he was on a bed, face down.
Speaker 5 (44:44):
Yep, face down, butt ass naked, and then Jane Doe
asked Watson if he meant to massage his lower back.
Watson indicated that it was his buttocks he wanted massaged.
Jane Doe was at this point at the end how
terrified she was in her small apartment with a much
larger a man, and she was still reeling from Watson's
outburst and aggression on the phone.
Speaker 1 (45:06):
Doe.
Speaker 5 (45:07):
Jane Doe thus tried to appease Watson by rubbing his
back rather than his butt. Watson began insisting again that
she focused on his glutes. Watson began insisting again and
again that she focused on his glutes, seemingly frustrated that
Jane Doe would only rub his back. Watson then turned over,
revealing his erection. Watson can continued to demand that Jane
(45:30):
Doe massage him, gesturing from his knees to his groin.
Jane Doe frozen fear, unsure of how to refuse Watson's
advances without jeopardizing her safety. Confused and scared, she reiterated
to Watson that she wasn't a masseuse. Watson asked her
what she wanted to do instead. I mean it goes
on and on. Basically, I'm just gonna read it straight.
(45:55):
Watson then partially disrobed Jane Doe. Jane Doe, and look
they they there was, there was without consent, they had sex.
I don't even want to continue to read these details.
Sick man, if this is true. Here's here's a couple
of things about this. First of all, listening to give
you a six stomach, she had to go, okay, so
(46:15):
let me let me read this final Yeah, Jane Doe.
After this, let's see, things got rough. She was paralyzed
in fear. And I'm and I'm paraphrasing because I'm not
even gonna read the details. She she was aggressively flipped
over and at that point she gathered gather the gathered
(46:36):
the courage and strength to escape Deshaun Watson. Jane Doe
had to run to her dresser to grab a heavy
piece of decor for self defense and yelled at Watson
to leave her apartment. Watson stormed out of her out
of the out of Jane Doe's apartment, clearly enraged and
got out of there.
Speaker 9 (46:55):
Okay, just Hilaryerius this first off, if all the stuff
surrounding him is true, he's just such a bad dude,
bad guy. If that's the case. Now, when we say allegedly,
we're taking her word versus his correct correct, they're the
only two there. I am not defending Watson. Listen, I'm
(47:17):
trying to see it from a from a trying to
be fair point of view. I'm not even trying to
take into account all the other stupid stuff. I'm taking
this isolated situation right, trying to write because it was
labeled different.
Speaker 5 (47:30):
This one's like I said, this is assault, alleged sexual
assault and battery.
Speaker 9 (47:35):
But the alleged things that happen sounds so similar when
it talks about you.
Speaker 6 (47:39):
Know, that's like his his things.
Speaker 9 (47:42):
His mo is lay down on his stomach, get an erection,
roll over, and then ask.
Speaker 6 (47:47):
The woman what do you want to do about it?
Speaker 9 (47:51):
I Uh, first off, if on the on the Watson
part of it, and I don't know who to believe.
I listen, we always got air on the side of
protecting women and kids. We all always do. Then this
situation we're not there, so alls we're doing is on
the periphery kind of taken into his history women. Is
it a money grab? Was she's scared to do? You
know all the things that are stated there, right, So
(48:12):
we don't know. But I'm looking at from both.
Speaker 7 (48:15):
One is.
Speaker 9 (48:17):
At what point in time, if you're Watson, with all
this stuff that's going on, are you not thinking to yourself,
I've got to be on my best behavior because I'm
treading in some I know.
Speaker 7 (48:27):
It's four years ago.
Speaker 9 (48:28):
Maybe at that point in time he was still and
he thought nothing was going to happen. Everybody he's de
Shaan Watson. He can do whatever he wants, but at
some point in time, there's got something that kicks in says.
Speaker 7 (48:39):
I got to stay away from these situations.
Speaker 9 (48:40):
I mean, yeah, putting myself in situations because I've lost
a lot. But he gained a lot of money from
how he got paid. But now you know, you just
start thinking about the red But what people are thinking.
Don't you go in with a protective shield around yourself
and you're doing it so you don't I mean, you
know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (48:56):
Or maybe you're just you're so you're sociopath? Do you can't?
Speaker 9 (49:00):
I don't know that he's not capable. I don't know
if he's capable that or not. The other side is
if you're her, if you've never gotten on a date
with somebody, why you're.
Speaker 7 (49:09):
Rolling around in your robe? Let him into your apartment?
Speaker 9 (49:12):
Yeah, And if you're worried because of his he's not responded,
You're worried about the violent nature of his voice, so
you just don't like it. Meet him outside or meet
him in a place where there's people around.
Speaker 7 (49:25):
I don't know.
Speaker 9 (49:26):
I'm not telling them how to live their lives. I
just thinking of the common everybody. People make mistakes, but
there's a difference between a mistake and a concentrated effort
to do the wrong thing. Rolling through a stop sign
is not a mistake. That's a decision. So, like I said,
I don't have any idea what goes on, but I
can tell you this that I don't understand.
Speaker 7 (49:45):
It and how it. I mean time and time and
time again.
Speaker 9 (49:50):
So you want to you listen, you can't help but think, Oh,
here it goes again, right, And I know it was
twenty twenty and doing it, but we never I don't
know because we've also seen the other side.
Speaker 7 (50:03):
It's like, well, did you falsely?
Speaker 9 (50:04):
We see it all the time, and they should be
held just as accountable for falsely accusing as a guy
who got accused. Yet if it did happen, then he
needs to pay the price at some point.
Speaker 7 (50:14):
It can't keep it can't just keep being the money.
Say well, I'll pay him off, right, But what do
I know.
Speaker 9 (50:21):
I'm not an attorney, and we don't know for one
second what happened when we went behind them either way.
But if that story, if allegedly that story is true,
how do you how do you if you can prove
it's true, how do you? How do you let that go?
If you're if you're the DA or anybody else. I'm
so tired of bringing up his name with this suff involved.
(50:43):
Oh I know, but I also can't sit there and
say he's guilty because I don't know. Now we're all
rushed to judgment and a lot of stuff right when
it comes to this and things you want to believe, right,
you just do certain thing good or bad. You want
to say, Okay, i've seen this movie, but we haven't
seen a movie. We've heard this movie. With his situation,
it's just heinous, man.
Speaker 1 (51:03):
True.
Speaker 5 (51:03):
You think about how many women have come out and
said these things about him?
Speaker 7 (51:07):
What the oldest hit there? Smoke? There's fire thing when
you hear that.
Speaker 9 (51:10):
If there's enough of them to say, even if like
two of them are true, one of them, it's too many.
Speaker 5 (51:13):
Yeah, and we're talking about like twenty two, twenty three,
twenty four women, twenty five women.
Speaker 9 (51:17):
If you pay somebody off, holy cow, admitting that you
did it, yes, essentially.
Speaker 7 (51:22):
Aren't you.
Speaker 1 (51:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (51:25):
Isn't it like going in say ye I'm guilty. Yeah, yes,
paying them off. But they're just giving you and they're
giving you a loophole, right, that's what it is. You
got enough Moody to cover the loophole. Yeah, and you're
gonna get paid more handsomely after all this was done.
Speaker 7 (51:38):
It's crazy stuff, man.
Speaker 9 (51:40):
Like I said, I'm not sitting in there and i'm
not the judge the jury of the execution, but I
can tell you this, if the stuff is true, with this.
Speaker 7 (51:46):
I don't know how you keep letting them off the hook.
Speaker 6 (51:48):
I don't eat that's my whole thing.
Speaker 9 (51:50):
I just at some point calling him a superstar quarterback
is not going to be the case because he ain't
playing like a.
Speaker 7 (51:54):
Superrian right now.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
And then also, it's like the the mo is there
every single time this dude literally gets around these women
and for whatever reason, wants his ass massage, gets aroused
and rolls over and says, Hey, what are we gonna
do about this?
Speaker 9 (52:10):
I don't know his situation. I'm sure is heck not
gonna accuse her of making a false accusation because I
don't know, And I'm sure as heck know that regardless
the children and women and children, you got to you
gotta protect them more. But in the process we say
that we got to protect There's been plenty of guys
who've done nothing wrong.
Speaker 7 (52:28):
I'm not saying, well Watson did.
Speaker 9 (52:30):
Somebody's accused and we've let that person who accused off
of and the person's ruined to guy's life. Well remember
the se football player high school kid to college when
it was a hell of a player, which spent seven
eight years and they did documentary. Yeah, usc guy right,
and then it found out, Oh she was lying the
whole time.
Speaker 7 (52:46):
She admitted it. Now that's seven or eight years of
his life.
Speaker 9 (52:49):
He missed his college career, never gets his life back,
I mean gets his life back.
Speaker 7 (52:54):
Almost said it.
Speaker 9 (52:54):
I'm sure you thanking your lucky stars if somebody finally
found the truth. But those seven years or whatever it
was six his first name is Brian. I think I
can't remember his last name because it's been a minute,
but Brian Banks.
Speaker 7 (53:05):
Is that it?
Speaker 9 (53:06):
Or I don't want to put a name on somebody
that's not his, Brian Banks. But he think about this,
he's not getting some of the prime of his life
there with his buddies, and he never got that back.
They don't get to loan that back to you after
being false eccs. I'm not like you said, I have there.
You go so memory like an elephant, right mine like
a steel trapped. Now, I just I don't want you
(53:27):
don't want to get to the finger point. But it's
hard not to because you've heard this story so often.
But we got to protect the women, but also you
got to protect the guys against false accusations. In this case,
if it's true, how often do you keep letting this
happen Long Beach, Polly, there you go. Yeah from the
LBC man, that's crazy man. And he was a hell
of a player. Yeah, And can you imagine you're like
(53:48):
your teenagers, like what and then you get out and
everybody the whole time he was sixteen years old, the
whole time.
Speaker 7 (53:54):
You were, you were, you were innocent.
Speaker 6 (53:57):
Yeah, so you.
Speaker 9 (53:58):
Got to you gotta I just think when I say
they careful, got to you gotta look long and hard.
That's their job to do it. You can speculate all
you want from you. You're not making the decision. But
it's heinous to even hear the stuff. It's uncomfortable, you know.
Speaker 5 (54:10):
Yeah, when you listen to you read this and even
there's more, there's plenty more details on it, and I
don't want to read them.
Speaker 1 (54:15):
If you want to, it makes me go.
Speaker 7 (54:17):
Find the public record and read.
Speaker 5 (54:18):
I'm not interested all over any any sports media outlet
right now.
Speaker 1 (54:21):
It's just sick.
Speaker 6 (54:22):
Yeah, the whole thing.
Speaker 9 (54:24):
You see, it's sick if it's not true from the
person who cues, and it's sick if it is true.
Speaker 7 (54:29):
It's like when is enough enough?
Speaker 10 (54:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (54:32):
Yeah, stay home by yourself with your signal whatever, Just
stop it.
Speaker 5 (54:37):
It's crazy. All right, Let's get at the stake out next.
It's Poorts Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (54:41):
There's a lot happening and he's got a lot to
say about it. Sean Salisbury continues on seven nineteen. All Right, Sean,
what are you hearing out there now? The Salsbury's takeouts?
Take out on the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (55:21):
Side for the steak out here on the Shawn Salisbury Show, Sean,
Bryna Tripoli, all right, for the steak out, Sean. I'm
gonna continue on with this to Shawn Watson thing because
I want to know your opinion from a league standpoint.
What does the league do? Because, like I said, this
is different. This isn't sexual harassment, alleged sexual harassment. This
is alleged sexual assault. So Mike Florio of what is
(55:45):
it Pro Football Talk? Yeah, Pro Football Talk acquired a
copy of let's see, let me see if I can
obtain a copy of the contract of the Sean Watson
and paragraph forty two. Basically, there's a loophole there if
(56:07):
based on the default language connected to the various guarantees,
Watson doesn't necessarily have to be suspended for the payments
to be voided. Instead, if he violates any material term
of the contract included but not limited to paragraph forty two,
Watson has defaulted in future guarantee, guarantees can be voided.
Speaker 6 (56:24):
End quote.
Speaker 5 (56:26):
Apparently the Browns are already reportedly the Browns could be
already looking into this situation. So I want to know,
in your opinion, what will the league do, if anything.
Speaker 9 (56:36):
They can't do anything right now, I mean, I guess
they can, but you're not gonna here's what their answer
is going to be. We're gonna let the the UH
legal process play out and then we'll make a decision
on that, which has been their stance from from Commissioner
Goodell since this started. And it's that's fair, is it not?
(57:01):
Is it not fair? But there also comes to the
point where the the what's the I don't know, the
moral code of the thought, the example you're setting.
Speaker 7 (57:09):
At some point in time does.
Speaker 9 (57:11):
It get to and maybe they obviously the NFL has
to already know about this one since it was twenty twenty, right,
so maybe this was included in there in that blanket
of you know where they put it. Well, here's another
one that they took that into account. I don't know,
but I would imagine in anybody's life, athlete or not.
Now you want somebody to be a hus somebody to
(57:32):
be a good example and represent the league. Well, so
you can, I guess, have those conversations about listen, this
has got to stop happen. But we're talking about four
years ago, so I would imagine they already know about it, right,
So if they already know about it, maybe that already
came into the decision making process. But I can guarantee
you the answer you'd get is these are things we
don't like to hear. We're looking into it, and we're
(57:56):
going to let the legal process take its course, and
then we'll make a decision based on the information we
get from those that are investing whatever the investigation. So
you can't jump out in front and now I was
suspending him for four games because well we heard you.
You've got to do the due diligence and and and.
Speaker 7 (58:12):
Go from there.
Speaker 9 (58:13):
But if it is true, you can't keep soft.
Speaker 7 (58:15):
You can't. You can't. You have to.
Speaker 9 (58:19):
You have to take the accusation serious. But you also
have to do your due diligence. The NFL will wait
until that legal process has played its way out.
Speaker 5 (58:27):
Yeah, I mean, I mean we've seen so many different
instances where you can't even keep up the all time.
Speaker 1 (58:32):
I know.
Speaker 5 (58:34):
Now, I'm not laughing at the situation. I'm just laughing
like this is just.
Speaker 7 (58:38):
It's not a human This isn't a humor laugh.
Speaker 1 (58:40):
This is it.
Speaker 7 (58:40):
This is sick laugh right, Yeah, I get.
Speaker 6 (58:42):
It, this dude, is is just you know what I
don't know, man, you know what?
Speaker 9 (58:49):
You know how that is people give guys hall passes
and this in pro sports? Why if they can help
you win, they just do. I'm not saying everybody, but
they do. There's people who say, all right, well listen,
pass path we we we expecting to be an upstanding citizen.
Speaker 7 (59:02):
He's our guy, blah blah.
Speaker 9 (59:03):
And this allegedly obviously allegedly happened before he got to Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (59:07):
Correct, he was a member of the text. That's exactly right.
Speaker 9 (59:10):
So but you get to a point did It's like, okay, man,
the constant stuff that happens. And I'm thinking, from an
athlete's point of view, how can somebody now some people
are so what's the word I'm looking for? So egotistical,
so self serving. So whether it's Watson or not did
(59:30):
what what's the word when.
Speaker 7 (59:33):
They look into the mirror?
Speaker 9 (59:34):
I means that that everything's about them self centered, no
self center. It's harsher than that. You're a you know,
the sec not sociopath, but that's part of it. But
just where you're it's it's something that you're you're like
your personality.
Speaker 7 (59:50):
Well it'll come to me regardless. That's neither here nor there.
But he's so.
Speaker 9 (59:56):
This feeling of I don't know how any anybody could
you imagine that this was hovering over your head would
affect your play?
Speaker 7 (01:00:01):
Is my point?
Speaker 9 (01:00:03):
Or is he so arrogant about it doesn't matter what
they do that it's not effecting. He's just not playing
good football coming off injury? I mean, is Watson you
know some people?
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
Are you so.
Speaker 9 (01:00:17):
Self centered or arrogant that none of this stuff ever
bothers you because you just needed No, it's it's a
it's a narcissistic narcissistic there, that's the word I'm looking
So you're so narcissist, can say it doesn't matter, I'll
be they're not doing anything that's done. What's pay them off?
I mean, I don't know. But then there's the you think, Okay,
does human nature take over where you're saying, how long
can you keep carrying this stuff around and still be
(01:00:39):
a good football player?
Speaker 7 (01:00:40):
Doesn't it affect it?
Speaker 9 (01:00:41):
Would that affect you on if knowing that the second
you walk off the field, you're dealing still with this stuff.
Speaker 7 (01:00:47):
I mean, you talk about having to compartmentalize.
Speaker 9 (01:00:49):
That's a hard thing to do when it's when it's
this often, this many, this rampant over the last few years,
of all the of all the people that we've sat
here and listened to that were in involved in this
process against him.
Speaker 7 (01:01:02):
So I don't know.
Speaker 9 (01:01:04):
Man, Like I said, it's now, maybe he'll come out
and play like a pro bowler, which will tell you
none of this stuff bothers him.
Speaker 7 (01:01:10):
It just rolls off his shoulders, doesn't care. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:01:14):
Well, he's uh, as far as play on the field,
he's not very good.
Speaker 6 (01:01:18):
Right now.
Speaker 9 (01:01:20):
You got to think they have regrets for signing him
to that kind of money.
Speaker 6 (01:01:23):
Oh hell yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:01:24):
I'm not talking about the fans. I'm talking about They've
got to have conversations in that front office, not just
Kevin Stefanski.
Speaker 7 (01:01:30):
But when you're sitting there with the ownership.
Speaker 9 (01:01:31):
Yeah, and in the front off was Andrew Berry and
the front office and saying, dude, if this doesn't pick up,
we made one of the more monumental mistakes at quarterback.
Well they've made a lot of them in Cleveland, unfortunately,
but this is different because of all the off the
field stuff. And then when the we hey, if a
guy's playing good football, people will turn the other cheek, right, yeah,
(01:01:53):
oh yeah, you know, we'll deal with that.
Speaker 7 (01:01:54):
Boy.
Speaker 9 (01:01:54):
What a great football player. He can help us win?
Right now, he's not helping him win, No, he's not.
So it all that other stuff gets heightened, right, Fans
are growing impatient. They're like, what do we got to
do to get a quarterback that's consistently good here? And
for the Cleveland Browns, there's no way they don't regret
this in some way, shape or form, making this.
Speaker 6 (01:02:13):
Deal two and thirty million guaranteed, And.
Speaker 9 (01:02:15):
Look how many look at what three years whatever it's been,
how long it took for somebody to get that much
guaranteed money.
Speaker 7 (01:02:21):
And Dak Prescott's the first guy that rolled by him.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
Yeah, yeah, and.
Speaker 9 (01:02:25):
Think about all the quarterbacks that and players at wide receiver, quarterbacks,
edge rushers that have signed since then, and he's still
was three years out in front of their of all
that money before anybody. And that was after he had
already signed a contract here that it never got kicked
in because because of all the situation, and he got
a new one without the one that that was a
(01:02:46):
pretty big contract here before he even got to pay
a dime from that that was about to kick in
until all this stuff happened. Well, you know, if he
doesn't start to play good football, the hyper focus will
be off the charts.
Speaker 5 (01:03:00):
In Cleveland, he posted a QBR of nine point four
on Sunday, and.
Speaker 9 (01:03:04):
It's it's not even just a stat. He looks skittish, right,
he looks like a guy. That guy just looks like
a guy you're trying to trying to find a starter.
Speaker 7 (01:03:14):
That's what he looks like right now.
Speaker 9 (01:03:16):
Mere shell of what we saw here when he led
the league in passing, right, different players and they got
better players on that team, oh yeah here than they
had here during that season that was a.
Speaker 6 (01:03:24):
Four wing team or whatever it was. And he was throwing.
Speaker 5 (01:03:26):
Forty forty five hundred, Yeah, forty close to five thousand yards.
Speaker 7 (01:03:31):
And he hasn't looked the same since.
Speaker 6 (01:03:33):
I don't think you ever, I don't think you ever
will be crazy stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:05:01):
But the Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 7 (01:05:05):
A big difference is Tiger went on to still win.
Didn't win? They won the Masters after all that.
Speaker 9 (01:05:13):
Yeah, come back, Kevin, it's a it's a it's a
good point of man, what happened fall you know, did
the falling you know, off the top of the mountain
and having to pick yourself back up and listen, he
may not be winning golf, A guess who's as popular
as he's ever been. And people still and when Tiger
came back, they all wanted him to win again. It's
(01:05:36):
it's I mean, you know when people say, I'm not
Tiger Wood's marriage counselor, and people judged Tiger Woods first
performed and he's, you know what, made mistakes, served his
you know, took a lot of heat for it, and
rightfully so, and came back and won and has tried
to do everything it seems to me, has tried to
do everything right since then and stepped up and went
(01:06:00):
back and won. And how many people were rooting for
him and the comeback? How many people were rooting for
Watson right now? In truth, not very many because because
of just the sheer numbers right regardless of I and
it just I mean, I'm not taken away from what
Tiger and simplifying that.
Speaker 7 (01:06:17):
But he went out.
Speaker 9 (01:06:18):
I mean, if you're just talking about on the sports
how people view him, the other guy went through his time,
came back still prepared, did his thing, came back and
won a major, and it has been you know, on
the golf scene since now. He's not the same player,
but that same player obviously isn't because Tiger Woods, what
happened to him off the field, you know what it is,
(01:06:39):
it's the off the field injuries and the body's been
beat down. Yeah, it's not the what happened with his
wife and those things that with other females involved in
the you know, the marriage, you know, cheating or whatever
went in the divorce and all the things that went on.
But what he had, what he the off the field
injuries have caused him problems. And while so injuries for Watson,
(01:07:01):
and I don't even know if Watson's off the field
stuff has anything to do with his performance because at
times you watch him play and you think he doesn't
even care about this. He's still rolling right through it.
So I don't know how it doesn't affect him. And
you talk about if that teflon and being able to
just roll it off your shoulders and not deal with it,
that's got to be I don't know how you do it,
But the key is don't do it, meaning don't get
(01:07:24):
you know, caught up in that. I just think people view, well,
they may not love tiger Woods what he did. I
think there's a I think people were rooting for tiger
Woods come back. I think there's a lot of people
don't give a ratsass about his I don't know. Once
one seems more heinous than they, but they're both hainous,
you get me.
Speaker 1 (01:07:40):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 9 (01:07:41):
When I say when I compare him, it's it's doesn't it.
Speaker 7 (01:07:44):
Feel like they shouldn't be comparable?
Speaker 6 (01:07:46):
They shouldn't.
Speaker 7 (01:07:46):
I don't I did, wats did.
Speaker 9 (01:07:47):
I don't remember Tiger Woods ever being charged with assault
or that he was just charged with He was a
lot of different women, right, so, and then you know
the wife and catching him, and the and the prescription
drugs and all those things that he went through. I'm
not just saying which ones going through it, whether if
(01:08:08):
it's addiction, whatever it is, you're going through some sort
of addiction. I just think that people look at them different.
And like I said, if you're talking about performance on
the field, the dude came back beat up, body, beat
up and mentally going through an emotion what he went through,
and he came back and won, had a major at
the tournament that everybody wants to see Tiger Woods playing
(01:08:29):
for the green jacket.
Speaker 7 (01:08:30):
He's not going to get another green jacket.
Speaker 9 (01:08:32):
But I can tell you this, you didn't think you
I didn't think he was ever going to win again.
After those injuries and what he went through. I mean
at a major, we all thought, man, is he gonna
overcome this? Where's this drive gonna be? He's made a
lot of money. Well, he went back to work and
won one. So it's a good point by our clock.
Was Kenny he said? Was it Kenny?
Speaker 10 (01:08:48):
Kevin?
Speaker 1 (01:08:49):
Kevin?
Speaker 7 (01:08:49):
It's a very good point.
Speaker 9 (01:08:50):
But I think for the most part, the general perception,
who do you think is more beloved Tiger Woods? And
I don't think it's close. No, right, yeah, it's not
Deshaun Watson. You root for Tiger Woods to come back
and win, and some are now rooting for him. Dude,
is it time to just because your body so? Be right,
You've earned the right to. You don't have to play
in these events anymore. Go design golf courses for five million.
(01:09:13):
Of course, if you need more money, go doesn't need
the money whatever, Go help your son, right, well, of course,
carry us back form whatever you want to do, and
then playing some fun tournaments.
Speaker 7 (01:09:20):
Do it all?
Speaker 9 (01:09:21):
Or who am I to tell him not to go
compete and want to play in majors if he still
wants to. But the other side, I think more people
are like, oh, what a show. I mean, I just do.
At least my perception from a distance is one you've
rooted for, yeah, the other it feels like some are
rooting against.
Speaker 6 (01:09:36):
I think a lot of inflicted by him.
Speaker 9 (01:09:38):
I think a lot of people are rooting against Deshaun
Watson would agree, I think a lot.
Speaker 7 (01:09:42):
Whether it's true or not, it feels that way, isn't it.
Speaker 6 (01:09:44):
That's exactly how it feels.
Speaker 5 (01:09:45):
Yeah, Speaking of you asked about the fan base for
the Cleveland Browns. Some local radio guys in Cleveland. It's
a hilarious, hilarious reaction to a caller in regards to
Deshaun Watson's poor play, and we can relate to it.
They're on their morning show up in Cleveland. Uh, and
they react to We'll hear that audio and discuss next

them out. Uh, forty two point nine.
Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
All this.
Speaker 12 (01:12:02):
Watson's quarterback rating Mayfield's.
Speaker 16 (01:12:05):
Quarterback, christ I can't do this for one more second.
Speaker 1 (01:12:12):
So the first call of the box, we're.
Speaker 16 (01:12:13):
Gonna do this, the very first call in the box,
we're gonna do this. No, I know what his quarterback
rating was. I know that he was good. Guys, I'm
not doing it right out of the damn box. Can
I have a little bit of time before we do this?
Can I have a little bit of time that he
ain't coming home. He ain't coming back. Only the playoffs.
(01:12:35):
That's it. He had a great day down there. Congratulations
and all his success.
Speaker 2 (01:12:39):

Speaker 1 (01:12:41):

Speaker 2 (01:12:46):
You ain't going to another one.
Speaker 6 (01:12:47):

to that.
Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
I love him.
Speaker 9 (01:12:53):
Oh God, do this right out of the box.
Speaker 1 (01:13:00):
He took it at six ' ten.
Speaker 9 (01:13:01):

He's a big movie buff too, and he says he
said it's out for.
Speaker 1 (01:13:22):
Justice shutting and he goes around.
Speaker 9 (01:13:27):
He says, like twenty times going around and taking pool
c balls to guy's heads. Right as he puts it
a sock or whatever it is, wraps it up.
Speaker 1 (01:13:34):
Really but he see Richie.
Speaker 7 (01:13:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:13:37):
Then he then he sprints off and what is the
all time worst running style of any actor in the history. Now,
Tom Cruise always has his running style. Oh yeah, he's
got He's got to run in every movie. So Dogal
and Cigal he might as well be running in in
Uh well, Cigal is one of the worst running styles
of all time.
Speaker 7 (01:13:56):
But thank you BJ, my man man BJ.
Speaker 9 (01:13:59):
Also for about eight million yards to what a player
he was, but he hit it.

Speaker 7 (01:14:12):
It's so great, Watson, feel great, dude.
Speaker 9 (01:14:15):
Comparisons right, I just like when I I listened to
it last night.
Speaker 5 (01:14:19):
First of all, Dine laughing like I am now, excuse me.
But then I just kind of think about like last
year when we got all the calls about Martin Maldonado and.
Speaker 6 (01:14:30):
Were ready to go people complained about.
Speaker 1 (01:14:33):
I'll be the caller.
Speaker 6 (01:14:34):
Yeah, hey, sure, yeah, welcome in.
Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
Let's go to Sean.
Speaker 6 (01:14:38):
Sean, what's going on? What's on your mind?
Speaker 9 (01:14:39):
A long time listener, first time caller. But listen, you'll well,
you'll know the numbers. Okay, one twenty seven?
Speaker 14 (01:14:47):
Uh huh?
Speaker 1 (01:14:50):
Fourteen ninety eight?
Speaker 5 (01:14:55):
What are these numbers? What are we talking about here, Sean?
Give me some context here.
Speaker 9 (01:14:58):
Batty the average pasted balls slugging percentage and.
Speaker 1 (01:15:09):
Cut him off, hang up on him.
Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
We're not doing this.
Speaker 1 (01:15:13):
It's seven fifty four.
Speaker 7 (01:15:15):
Yea, I love it.
Speaker 5 (01:15:19):
That's how things are going to Cleveland, Mad Anthony.
Speaker 9 (01:15:22):
Ken Carmon getting after it is said off a message
to say I need more though, my god, thank you
for the nice, good black coffee that got me fired
up with caffeine. And I didn't need it because of
that nice clip. So they they posted.
Speaker 5 (01:15:36):
If I'm not mistaken, I think that's ken Carmon the
voice that we hear, right, he's the who.
Speaker 7 (01:15:41):
I think.
Speaker 9 (01:15:41):
I'm not sure if both bring him and Kenny they
both of those guys been doing right. I'm not sure
who they who's bringing him in and out of break
like that?
Speaker 7 (01:15:48):
Who?
Speaker 9 (01:15:48):
Well, maybe it's a different guy each one, but they
both that might actually been Anthony Lema's voice.
Speaker 7 (01:15:54):
I can't touch that's Kenny. That's Ken Carmen.
Speaker 5 (01:15:57):
Okay, so Ken Carmen is the voice that we heard
of him freaking out. And then Anthony was like, uhn.
Speaker 7 (01:16:02):
Kenny's like us, like a basic white guy, is what
you're saying.
Speaker 4 (01:16:04):
Both of them?
Speaker 9 (01:16:05):
Yeah, no, I know that, but you said Carmon and
he's a good and they do a great job.
Speaker 1 (01:16:09):
That's good.
Speaker 7 (01:16:09):
That's a good show. And they're both passionate. So there
you go.
Speaker 6 (01:16:12):
He posted the video.
Speaker 5 (01:16:13):
They posted the video of like his actual reaction on
on video.
Speaker 6 (01:16:18):
Oh gosh, it's as good as you think.
Speaker 1 (01:16:20):
Love him.
Speaker 9 (01:16:21):
That's that's great stuff. And again somebody will roll onto
the phone lines. It just leaves you completely wampy John.
Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
Completely the very first call the box, We're gonna do this.
Speaker 7 (01:16:36):
I freaking love it.
Speaker 6 (01:16:39):
Do we play them this year?
Speaker 1 (01:16:40):
Cleland? Yeah, yeah, we do.
Speaker 6 (01:16:43):
I believe.
Speaker 7 (01:16:43):
So we gotta give man.
Speaker 9 (01:16:45):
Maybe we'll have a little cross talk with Ken and
can uh do a little Ken Carmen and uh Anthony
lima cross talk with us. We'll get some laughs, man,
We'll have a good time. Oh my gosh, it's hilarious.
Speaker 1 (01:16:58):
Just this.
Speaker 9 (01:16:59):
I just first thing I'd say to him, Hey, guys,
I'm gonna give you some numbers. Actually they did this year.
They because it would be a blast of those because
I could do it. Hey, Ken, let me give you
some numbers. Dude, short, are we gonna do this for
the first time we're a guest on your show.
Speaker 4 (01:17:13):
I'm not doing it right out of the damn bucks.
Can I have a little bit of time before we
do this?
Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
It's so great, man.
Speaker 9 (01:17:22):
The caller calling in to talk about Baker Mayfield being
better than Deshaun Watson and he's two years removed from
it and throwing four touchdown passes or whatever it is
last game four million later.
Speaker 1 (01:17:33):
Let it friggin go.
Speaker 5 (01:17:35):
Yeah, man, gracious, Oh my gosh, all right seven one
three two one two five seven. I let's get into
the eight o'clock hour. Oh my gosh. I just that's
just so freaking great, man, because so we, uh we
relate to that so much.
Speaker 6 (01:17:49):
What was going on in the league.
Speaker 5 (01:17:51):
In the NFL Bill Belichick uh talked about the lack
of production in the passing game.
Speaker 6 (01:17:57):
Over the weekend.
Speaker 5 (01:17:58):
We'll hear from him and discuss the next here on

Speaker 2 (01:19:50):
Saalsbray, Oh Salsbrey Houston. Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (01:19:57):
Sean Salisbury, the NFL quarterback USC Truth, longtime friend shown Salisbury,
Ryan Lima, Go Lobo.
Speaker 4 (01:20:05):
This is the Sean Seals Very Show. Uh, We're talking
NFL keep blacking.
Speaker 1 (01:20:14):
Anybody's seen Ritchie. Everybody knows shot Bobby Loopo, the pool cube, pull,
the pull, the there's a pool ball right to the head.
Speaker 9 (01:20:24):
Yeah, breaking noses, stamping elbows. I wish we could play it.
Speaker 5 (01:20:30):
There's too much, too much, too discussing, way too much,
all right. So Bill Belichick was on the Pat McAfee
show yesterday talking about the first weekend in the NFL,
and we alluded to it earlier in the show. We
also talked about it yesterday, the lack of passing UH
and production in the past game this weekend in the NFL. Well,
(01:20:52):
Bill Belichick, one of the best ever saw too. I
like it, Yeah, I sure did, one of the best
to ever do it. Talked about the lack of past
production in the NFL. This is what he said.
Speaker 18 (01:21:03):
I'd say the big thing to take away for me was,
you know, the lack of I would say, per overall
production in the passing game. So eight quarterbacks had an
under seventy five quarterback rating. The pass length for some
of those, like Jaydon Daniels, you know his average pass
length was less than two yards.
Speaker 6 (01:21:22):
Now, you know he had good yards after catch on that, but.
Speaker 18 (01:21:25):
You know, Nix was a little over two yards, Watson
was a little over two yards, Murray was a little
over two yards. That's the average pass length. Caleb Williams
is three yards. So I mean some of these guys,
even the passes they're completing aren't for very many yards.
And you know they're just totally counting on you know,
run after catch and and trying to protect the quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (01:21:46):
So you know, there was seven eight.
Speaker 9 (01:21:48):
Quarterbacks coaches Skase or is that like decision based?
Speaker 7 (01:21:52):
Why does that happen with the other.
Speaker 6 (01:21:53):
Well, I think it's a little bit of both.
Speaker 18 (01:21:54):
I think it's a lot of you know, quick throws
to try to get out of the quarterback's hand and
hope they can gain some yards running with it. But say,
it's really a lack of execution in the intermediate passing game.
Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
Now that's not the whole league.
Speaker 18 (01:22:05):
But I mean you've got almost half the league get
threw for less than one hundred and seventy five yards.
And I think this is the fewest touchdown passes that
we've had in Week one, and you know in quite
a long time. I think five years ago there was
you know, not quite twice as many, but almost twice
as many.
Speaker 5 (01:22:20):
All right, that's Bill Belichick. He goes off for about
another minute. And then also Pat McAfee's going to ramble
and not shut the hell up. So let's go ahead
and cut that off right now.
Speaker 9 (01:22:28):
Yeah, you have Bill On and that game base. Yeah,
Bill On, and you actually you actually talk more than
he does.
Speaker 6 (01:22:35):
Bill Belichick, talk when he's.
Speaker 9 (01:22:37):
Done, when he's done being the guest. When he's done
being the guest, then you go back to talking.
Speaker 7 (01:22:42):
That's it.
Speaker 9 (01:22:43):
You have the greatest football mind that's ever lived. On
a little coach, I would probably say, well, Bill, what
you got for me? I'll talk to him fifteen minutes
and no, but you know what I mean, let it go.
And then after he's done, then you can chime in.
You ask questions, but let him finish this point. I
get your point. Imagine we had a dragons. Imagine we
had a whiteboard in here.
Speaker 5 (01:23:04):
Imagine we had a whiteboard and I'm asking you to
break down a coverage from me because I have no
clue what the hell of a certain coverage is. Yeah,
and you start telling me about it in the middle
of it. I'm like, yeah, but Sean was right.
Speaker 9 (01:23:18):
You say you are well, I haven't got to telling
you why. I'm sure yet I got thirty seconds into
novel concept. The greatest coach of all time. Probably let
him tell you what he saw. It's just crazy just
to hunch. But I will say this, So he and
I did not hear that clip because I didn't see
the mac off he probably build on. I'm sure he's
going to be a weekly guesting Monday every there you go,
and I want his insight. And the truth is so
(01:23:39):
we So it wasn't the naked eye line to we
were right about watching. I didn't and I'm at one point,
was it Nick's who had seven completions for like twelve
yards or something? I mean it was he Bill's right,
and it is twofold one. It's quarterbacks not getting to
the proper read because there and whody mentioned Nicks, Caleb, Williams,
(01:24:02):
Jade and Daniels.
Speaker 7 (01:24:02):
What are they all three have in common?
Speaker 6 (01:24:04):
Rookies?
Speaker 9 (01:24:04):
Sure, so what you're doing as a coordinator, You're like,
get it out, get it quick, protect them, not just
pass protection, but protect them that if they miss the produce.
What do you think the toughest thing for quarterbacks to
do in the NFL understand coverage and deal with protections,
who to get and how to get them. So what
you're doing by getting the ball out of the hand
quickly is what taking away. Taking away holding the ball,
(01:24:28):
so you got to make more decisions. You want basically
guys opening the flat, throw it to him. Guys call screens.
It's a one guy route. If it we're running a bubble,
throw it to hen. We'll block it up and hopefully
get run after the catch, and that will expand as
they start to understand it.
Speaker 7 (01:24:42):
That's not unnatural you do it.
Speaker 9 (01:24:43):
And then there's times a coordinator calls a play where
you want to get it out quickly. But man, if
they're playing man coverage and you got a corner route
and a hitch on the outside of smash route and
you got man coverage, take the shot at the corner.
So it is it's a mix of protect the quarterback,
get it out, take some decision making out of his
out of his line of scrimmage, and pre and post
snap stuff. Make it easy. It's like a we call
(01:25:06):
it in the red zone two like when you get
shortyard's goal line or even even in midfield to be
third and three and a coach used to call it,
Call it and run it. You have no there is
no audible You don't get a chance to check out
of this play. This is what we have a call
it and run it. We can run it against any
front we're running. We're running stretch, we're running sixty outside.
It doesn't matter what they play. We're blocking it up.
(01:25:26):
We got a motion guy to kick out the leverage guy,
the coverage guy's strong safety down with eight in the box,
tight end is gonna get up on and hook the
Sam linebacker, and we're gonna run sixty outside. It's third
and three. Like if you have a rookie quarterback, call
it and run it. Don't get I don't care what
front they're playing, don't worry about an audible check. Get
up there, going on first sound, let's go play. So
(01:25:47):
there are those, so it doesn't surprise me, and they
will expand as they go on. But so the naked
I caught it. There was not a The passing game
was quite frankly outside of this city.
Speaker 7 (01:25:57):
In a coming Stafford throw it around a little bit.
Speaker 9 (01:26:01):
Mayfield threw it around, but outside and some big plays
in Indianapolis. I mean Richardson made some plays, but the
consistency of pushing the ball down the field and attempts,
you know, yards per attempt and the rest of it,
we're not what we'd normally say NFL standards. And if
you're the Houston Texans, you got what you wanted. If
you can win like that every week, you'll be in
(01:26:21):
Super Bowl contention, running it, throwing it, protecting it, dominating
the line of scrimmage, and playing defense. Just shore up
the big plays that you let get behind you.
Speaker 5 (01:26:30):
Fifty percent of these starting quarterbacks in Week one of
the NFL averaged under seven yards per throw. Bo Nicks
three point three yards per throw, Caleb Williams three point two,
Deshaun Watson three point eight, Will Levis four, Daniel Jones
four point four, Jacoby Brissett five.
Speaker 6 (01:26:50):
Then it goes on from there.
Speaker 9 (01:26:51):
That's called want to get your quarterback quick early, easy
completions or attempts, So you take a lot of decision
making and that oh my gosh, I'm on my second receiver.
Then flipping your hips to get to the checkdown. There's
what's taking it out. So the yards per attempt down,
which simply tells me, also, if you're the quarterback. They
(01:27:12):
call this, I'm throwing the ball the checkdown right now.
I'm throwing the ball to the five yard hitch and
the inside slot route right right now. And so it
you know, you're trying to do everything you can as
a coordinator to limit the chances to lose the game
for you, even as opposed to winning it for you.
And with three rookie quarterbacks, your first thought is will
they be overwhelmed?
Speaker 7 (01:27:31):
Is it too big?
Speaker 9 (01:27:32):
No matter what they did in the preseason, it's still overwhelming.
You're seeing things, You're creating problems, you're borrowing trouble. It
feels like there's fifteen guys on the field at times
when you're making decisions.
Speaker 7 (01:27:41):
So what do you do.
Speaker 9 (01:27:42):
I'm taking that out. I'm eliminating that for you. Give
me completions and we'll go play and just play football, dude.
But you're doing everything you can playing not to lose
it for a rookie quarterback as opposed to let him
go win it, which this team last year put in
the guy's hand from game one. That's why he's different
(01:28:04):
and Jaden will play better though Nicks. They all three
showed you flashes of something as rookie quarterbacks hints why
the decisions were made to play them as opposed to
the veteran backups that.
Speaker 1 (01:28:14):
Are on their rosters.
Speaker 2 (01:28:15):
C J.
Speaker 5 (01:28:15):
Stroud on Sunday average seven point three yards per row
our per completion, I should say two and thirty four
yards passing.
Speaker 7 (01:28:24):
And that'll go up. Yeah, that'll go up.
Speaker 9 (01:28:26):
And if that's the case, and you can do what
they did and make enough plays and be efficient. And
I love the fact that Bobby slok and in Damiko
Ryans fourth and two, when a field goal gives you
a bigger they're going for it. They wanted to put
you in position to play chase the whole time. I
love the aggressiveness of this teams that brought on since
(01:28:47):
Demiko Ryans has been the coach, He's trusts his players and.
Speaker 7 (01:28:50):
That's a good thing.
Speaker 9 (01:28:50):
And now you add it to the run game, it's
a physical beatdown for defenses. Now trying it for defenses now,
it just makes the passing game an efficiency more effective.
Speaker 6 (01:29:00):
Talk about Bobby Slovak.
Speaker 7 (01:29:01):
Yeah, is that what we called Slovak?
Speaker 1 (01:29:03):
Yeah? All right?
Speaker 7 (01:29:04):
Does he know who shot Richie?
Speaker 6 (01:29:05):
I don't think so.
Speaker 7 (01:29:06):
Okay, anybody seen Bobby.
Speaker 9 (01:29:08):
Loopo good sports name though, if it was right, he
was a cop in the show. But man, hey, who's
playing slot? Who's covering the slot? He's a nickel corner
of Bobby Loopo? Yeah, oh yeah, it does sound like
Bobby Loopo doesn't.
Speaker 7 (01:29:21):
Man, what a player?
Speaker 9 (01:29:23):
Three sport athletes in high school decided to quit college
and want to go be a cop. Anybody knows shot him.
Everybody's seen Richie so crazy. Let's talk about that aggressiveness
from Demiico. Ryan's going forward on fourth down.
Speaker 5 (01:29:37):
It's a nice trying to change of pace and what
we've seen here over the last couple of years with
this Texas organization.
Speaker 6 (01:29:42):
That's next on Sports Talk seven nighty.
Speaker 9 (01:29:44):
What's your crib look like right now? Inside? Outside your business?
Is it time for something fresh? New paint job? Whether
it's the fall colors, whether it's yeah, three or four,
you have been waiting.
Speaker 7 (01:29:54):
I need a little inside.
Speaker 9 (01:29:55):
I'm tired of looking at this cream colored wall or outside.
I this paint job. It's in a little paint ship here.
Why not get it done for sort of.
Speaker 7 (01:30:03):
Pro I do?
Speaker 9 (01:30:06):
And I'm proud to say that as a customer, first
Curt of Pro Painters and to my house Interior X
year made it look great, treated my home like they
would their own, incredible timely local treated my home as
if they were as if I walked into their home
and they were doing their own home. Couldn't be happier
with them. They're the official painting partner of the Houston Astros.
Each and every curt of Pro business is individually owned
(01:30:28):
and operated, and Cerderpro dot com is where you go
for your free estimate. You will not be disappointed. I
love the DIY at my house. I love to and
I'm one of those guys. In the fall, maybe you
light now, you darken up a color for fall colors
and Halloween and Thanksgiving and maybe back in the spring
you want the room painted different. You're changing the furniture,
and I love DIY, but you know what you want
(01:30:49):
to done, more efficient, done right, and trust them. It's
It's sort of pro, official painting partner of the Houston Astros.
I couldn't be more pleased, not only for the relationship
and being a customer first with Dale and curt of Pro,
but since then being able to talk about him every day.
And I never endorse a product I wouldn't use I'm
just telling you, if your di I White, take the
time off, enjoy the weekend with family, let sort of
pro take care of your business or your home. It's
(01:31:10):
expensive to own both, so why not protect it with
the quality painting a sort of pro painters, sort of
with the sea, curt of pro painters, curt of pro
is painting, happy putting.
Speaker 4 (01:31:20):
The logic in illogical. Former pro Sean Salisbury continues to
break it down once seven ninety you ready, you want
to get the fun, dude, Come on now, let's do it.
Speaker 5 (01:31:32):
Seven one, three, two two five, seven ninety talking NFL
John Good morning.
Speaker 19 (01:31:38):
Yes, sir, Tom Brady had Blitzo, Dak had Romo. You
had Pat Mahomes with Alex. Some of these quarterbacks need
a bit to uh look up to and come into
lead with man. Some of these rookies are just not
ready yet, Uh, Sean, you can speak on more more
on that. I just want to get your opinion on
how you feel about these rookies coming in and uh.
Speaker 1 (01:32:01):
Getting that start right away.
Speaker 19 (01:32:02):
Do they need somebody like a good vit to sit
behind for a second to uh get get their baronies
and get there get this stuff right before they just
throw these guys in and I'll hang up and listen, John.
Speaker 7 (01:32:16):
Thank you.
Speaker 9 (01:32:16):
In a perfect world, of course, you want Steve McNair
behind Chris Chandler. For a minute, you want Aaron Rodgers
behind Brett farrv that that's Steve Young behind Montana that Yeah,
there's no doubt that's But we're not in that world.
Speaker 7 (01:32:29):
It doesn't exist because when you draft a.
Speaker 9 (01:32:32):
Guy in the first round, unless he's on a team
with a Hall of Fame or superstar type feel like
if let's say the Cowboys drafted somebody in the first round,
and or like when the when the Packers did it
with Rogers and they drafted Jordan Love and he set
for what three or four years, that's a great thing
for yeah, Rogers for Far and then love for for Rogers.
(01:32:53):
That is that you'd love it, but we don't have
a luxury anymore salary caps. When you draft a guy
in the first round, that high usually means where Caleb
and Jaden and Daniels were picked, and bow nicks usually
mean they weren't any good and so you didn't go
out and you know, and had they had gone out
and signed a veteran who was a free agent that's
a great player. Like if Prescott would have been a
really good player, that I Prescott would have been a
(01:33:14):
free agent and he went out and signed him, then
you wouldn't have drafted a guy in the first round, okay,
And a lot of people wondered why the Packers did
it with Jordan Levell. They're figuring it out, they think now, so, yeah,
the luxury would be great. And most rookies, what you
saw from CJ. Stroud's not normal. That's not how a
rookie supposed to play. How a rookie is supposed to
play is Bryce Young, bo Nick, you know where it's like, damn,
(01:33:35):
they're going to figure it out and you see flashes
of brilliance, but it's going to be a struggle.
Speaker 12 (01:33:40):
What c J.
Speaker 7 (01:33:40):
Stroud did is not normal.
Speaker 9 (01:33:42):
What the rookie quarterbacks did this past weekend usually is well.
I mean, hell, a number one draft pick, Caleb Williams
broke the trend of number one picks losing their first start.
But you got to throw them in because then here's
the problem. If you played a veteran, let's even say
it was a veteran who's been in the league a while,
that wasn't a first round pick. Is a good player,
not a star, Davis Mills, good player, but you know
(01:34:03):
why the second they throw an interception in game one?
Look what's happening in Cleveland? And Winston's been there, not
a superstar, but a former number one pick.
Speaker 7 (01:34:14):
They had a bad game. What's everybody in Cleveland?
Speaker 9 (01:34:15):
I already saying, gimme Jamis Winston? Sure they are, and
Watson's not a rookie. So what it is is the
luxury says, Yeah, it'd be great to have a veteran
who's cagy and really good and can go start and
carry it. Or you had a dominant veteran in your
Aaron Rodgers and they draft Jordan Love and he's gonna
sit for three years and just learn and watch and
(01:34:36):
pick his brain and.
Speaker 7 (01:34:36):
Do all that.
Speaker 9 (01:34:37):
That's'd be great, but they're not gonna do it. Most
and the pressure of a starter who's a mid level guy,
is a semi journeyman, but been a starter, and then
all of a sudden you run him out there if
he has one bad game. I'm just telling you now,
Atlanta got beat last week, right, If that happens three
weeks in a row in Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (01:34:55):
I don't think it is.
Speaker 9 (01:34:56):
But if their offense kind of sputters a little bit
and they don't play great football and don't score thirty,
you know what, Atlanta Falcons fans are going to be
pining for give me Michael Penix. Yeah, and like ninety
million there they are.
Speaker 5 (01:35:10):
I literally almost have said Bobby lup I swear he did,
but it's true.
Speaker 9 (01:35:16):
Yeah, So even Cousins, who's a really good player, would
be nice for for Pennix to learn two years behind
him for three years and then Cousins. Sure, but and
they're counting on that. But the fan base, so as
a as a veteran quarterback, you're almost like, I got
to play great football or my job's done. So they're
going to play the rookie and let him play his
(01:35:36):
way into it or be so bad like when when
Josh Rosen started, no disrespect, he wasn't very good and
he hadn't been. He's out in the league, I think so,
and then they went and got Kyler Murray. It's just
the way Bryce Young played last year is usually how
rookies play at that position. It can be overwhelming, and
when the one when they played great, they're still not
even touched the scratch the surface, like Stroud of how
(01:35:59):
good they can be because they're still learning coverages and
how fronts and coverages tie together. So yeah, great luxury,
but unfortunately for first round pick quarterbacks, especially those in
the first fifteen picks, it's on the job training. You
are learning, and they're throwing you in and expecting you
to have the guts and the moxie to be able
to and the emotional strength to deal with failure because
(01:36:21):
you're gonna have a lot of it as a rookie quarterback.
Speaker 6 (01:36:23):
Yeah, not everybody comes out and plays like CJ. Stroud.
Speaker 7 (01:36:26):
Well, he's the outlier. He's not the norm. The norm
is the other guys, right.
Speaker 9 (01:36:30):
The norm is averaging two or three yards per completion,
like Belichick pointed out for three rookie quarterbacks, Yeah, three
and a half yards and then and two of them lost, Right,
Denver got beat and Washington got beat Bears one and Williams.
You started to see if he went up and made
more plays. But he'll struggle at times this year, and
(01:36:51):
then there's times there all three of them are gonna
have games you're gonna say, damn, that's why you let
them play their way through it. And if you're worried
about their confidence, shouldn't have drafted him in the first place,
because if if a bad game for my first round
pick gets beat and he loses his confidence, I should
have done more due diligence to know that he's a
mental weakling.
Speaker 7 (01:37:08):
Yeah, and you got to find out soon.
Speaker 9 (01:37:09):
Caleb Williams ain't gonna ain't gonna lose any kind of confidence.
You see the purse that he rocks dog Caleb Williams well,
and the nail polish. Come on, that's that's when you're
doing that. You're approaching it a little different than others.
There's not a whole lot. And listen, I like his style,
he must say?
Speaker 1 (01:37:25):
What said this?
Speaker 9 (01:37:26):
The saying that no, I like his style, not caring
about what you or I think. What because if we
knew how people how quickly they forgot about us after
we die. Yeah, the people, your friends, family, how quickly
they forget about you. You really wouldn't give a rats
that's what you think about his his nail painting, right,
And I think he's got the mentality of I almost
(01:37:46):
think he does it tobate people at part of it.
I think well, it may be part of who he is.
But I also think that I'm gonna do a little
more of this just to see how these people react
and then go win a game.
Speaker 7 (01:37:56):
Chicago.
Speaker 9 (01:37:57):
You think today they love him or mad that he's
wearing nail. Aston has an awful looking person. Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 6 (01:38:04):
You got to put some respect on that person.
Speaker 9 (01:38:06):
And put respect on the win. That's all they care about.
And I don't blame him. I'll paint his damn nails
if he can win games for me. W you gotta
eat a dub believes you see that through the camera.
You miss that one man, you gotta eat. I'll tell
you what. Watson doesn't pick it up. Jamie is gonna
try to eat some dubs.
Speaker 1 (01:38:24):
He is.
Speaker 9 (01:38:25):
Some people thought that was a super Bowl team. Maybe
they are one week overreaction. We all have it that
that team's well, so do the Bengals. They all got
to play better that division. Baltimore Losers. Bengals lose Steelers
one one with a quarterback right and no, I'm sorry,
off to right and uh and Cincinnati and Cleveland both lose.
(01:38:49):
So so right now, the Pittsburgh steals your first.
Speaker 5 (01:38:51):
Place and that goes perfect into our next segment because
we're gonna do our overreactions for NFL Week one.
Speaker 9 (01:38:56):
Well, uh, bench Watson's overreaction probably, but hey, it's good.
It's it makes for good fun banner.
Speaker 1 (01:39:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:39:04):
How about Jacoby Brissett going and leading the charge, Yeah
against the Bengals in their building.
Speaker 6 (01:39:08):
They don't need drake Man.
Speaker 1 (01:39:09):
Nice.
Speaker 5 (01:39:09):
Yeah, let's let's give a little overreaction after a full week.
NFL Week one is in the book. Let's talk about
it next Sports Stalk seven eight. It's also gets you
a home generator from Brotherly Love Electric and that is
the American made Briggs and Stratton home generator. Right now,
Brotherly Love Electric has a fully stocked warehouse. They have
the shortest lead time in the city. Brotherly Love Electric installs,
(01:39:30):
maintains and repairs all generators. So if you already have
a generator installed at your home and you need some
service done on it, Brotherly Love Electric is gonna do
that as well. It is still storm season. You see
franc scene, it's a tropical storm expected to get up
to a category two. Obviously, it's looks like it's gonna
miss us and going to Louisiana. So prayers for the
for the folks in Louisiana. But that's that's what happens
(01:39:53):
in the Gulf of Mexico. Even though we're kind of
getting halfway through September, that Golf of Mexico water extremely warm,
u opical storms can pop up out of nowhere. You
want to be prepared for another storm by having a
home generator. And that's from Brotherly Love Electric. And that's
the American made Briggs Stratton home generator three four six
seven seven seven three three seven zero three four six
(01:40:15):
seven seven seven three three seven zero.
Speaker 6 (01:40:17):
Call that number.
Speaker 5 (01:40:17):
Get yourself re quote on an American made Briggs and
Stratton home generator from.
Speaker 6 (01:40:21):
Brotherly Love Electric. It's a connection you can count on.
Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
And we've out there.
Speaker 4 (01:40:25):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 5 (01:40:29):
Still a little overreaction after Week one of the NFL.
Speaker 9 (01:40:34):
So are you what is? Are you asking questions? And
I say over under or perfect reaction? Is that how
we're doing this?
Speaker 15 (01:40:39):
So we'll do that?
Speaker 7 (01:40:40):
Is that how you want to do it?
Speaker 1 (01:40:41):
Yep?
Speaker 5 (01:40:41):
Okay, alright, let's start. Let's start with the Dallas Cowboys.
They are a Super Bowl caliber team.
Speaker 7 (01:41:00):
Are they a playoff team? Yes?
Speaker 9 (01:41:02):
No, No, super Bowl I said, are they a playoff team?
I think, okay, then their super Bowl caliber they showed
considering with that defense and that quarterback playing. Officially, if
they can run the football, the Dallas Cowboys are a
super Bowl caliber football team.
Speaker 7 (01:41:17):
That is perfect reaction. It's not overreaction telling me they're
the best.
Speaker 9 (01:41:20):
If you just said are the best team in the
NFC East, I'd have said, overreaction?
Speaker 7 (01:41:25):
Are they?
Speaker 9 (01:41:25):
But they're a playoff team, so once you're in in
the tournament, it's a whole different ball game. That's absolute
perfect reaction to say that they are a super Bowl
caliber team. When you watch Prescott play well, and you
watched what Michael Parsons does on defense, good luck, he
takes over games. So yes, they are a super Bowl
caliber team. Fair reaction. All right, what about you? I
(01:41:49):
think it's a fair reaction. I just know how Dallas
plays in January? So couldn't we say that about Can
we say about Buffalo Baltimore?
Speaker 7 (01:41:58):
A lot of them?
Speaker 9 (01:41:59):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:41:59):
Yeah, okay, you could?
Speaker 7 (01:42:01):
All right.
Speaker 5 (01:42:02):
Obviously, Christian McCaffrey did not play last night's and they
don't actually know when he will play again. Kaff Muscle
and reportedly Achilles as well, So something's going on. The
forty nine ers will not be able to sustain the
type of running performance we saw last night with Jordan
Mason as the running back.
Speaker 7 (01:42:23):
That's a fair reaction.
Speaker 9 (01:42:24):
I'm actually one of the biggest shocks of the entire
football week in Week one is how they gashed with it.
If you said McCaffrey did that, I said, well, you're
dealing with a great football player and a good offensive line.
I'm shocked that the Jets were pushed around and mugged.
They just got mauled, and that is quite frankly, I
don't think you're gonna I don't think you're going to
(01:42:45):
see that constantly against the Jets this year. And I
don't think the forty nine ers can sustain that without
McCaffrey do. I think this proofs to them they can
trust this kid to go in there and make plays
and do those things. I mean, hit the hole and
do the zone read the way that Shanahan wont I do.
But they're not going to get that same production week
in and week out without McCaffrey. They'll get good production,
(01:43:07):
not that production that was McCaffrey like production. Yeah, that's
a fair reaction by saying it will not continue like that.
Speaker 5 (01:43:15):
The Detroit Lions and the La Rams will be the
number one and number two seeds in the NFC.
Speaker 9 (01:43:20):
Overreaction, overreaction. Both good football teams, both playoff teams. If
you said one of them will be the one seed,
I'd buy into that, I'd say absolutely, And I'm not
sure which one because the Rams aren't going away. They'll
be just fine, thank you. So yes, I don't think
that's his name in one of them, but two of
(01:43:40):
them overreaction, especially after week one, we can't put them
there that chance. Yeah, but they both will be the
one two seed.
Speaker 5 (01:43:47):
That's overreaction, Okay, Jameis Winston will be the starting quarterback
for the Cleveland Browns by week four.
Speaker 7 (01:43:53):
Overreaction. They can't do it.
Speaker 9 (01:43:56):
They can't do it if forget the if all of
a sudden, the off the field stuff kind of gets
pushed to the back burner by whoever pushes it there.
If on the field, there's no way Watson can continue
to play like this, and two hundred and thirty million
reasons why you can't bench him unless he's hurt. You
just can't, maybe for a series at the end of
a game, but you're not, or he's struggling, got the flu,
(01:44:18):
you're if he's healthy. There's no way they're doing They
can't justify that to the fan base, no matter what
they ask. They spend too much money. The money alone,
even if he played out it horribly, the money alone
won't let it happen now twelve weeks in, four weeks in,
there's no way they do that a month because basically,
then if you're the coach in the front office, we
got considered moving you on too, because you didn't coach
(01:44:40):
him right apparently, and he hasn't responded apparently. If that's
the case four weeks into it, and then you would
have said, what a horrible signing. And the general manager
is tied to that quarterback. Yeah, so there's no way.
And I can't fathom Watson being that subpar every week.
Speaker 6 (01:44:58):
I wouldn't think.
Speaker 5 (01:44:59):
So that's an overe All right, Let's look at the
NFC South.
Speaker 6 (01:45:03):
The New Orleans Saints are gonna win that division.
Speaker 7 (01:45:07):
Fair reaction.
Speaker 9 (01:45:08):
I think that's fair because I didn't have carolinea win
the division. I think Tampa Bay is I think Tampa
Bay is one of the Tampa Bay's gonna slide around.
They're gonna they may be one of the sneakier good teams.
They can go win the division there. Mayfield looks like
he's comfortable there, and they've got some aging veterans, but
they've added some pretty good youth their wide receivers. Evans,
(01:45:29):
I don't know how he keeps.
Speaker 6 (01:45:30):
Doing He does it every single freaking year.
Speaker 9 (01:45:32):
Maybe and JB coach JV and I do the show
on Sunday mornings like with Jeff Nado gambling show and
just analysis for about an hour and a half before
the early games.
Speaker 7 (01:45:41):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (01:45:42):
And he said that Mike Evans may be the most
underrated player at his vision of all time.
Speaker 6 (01:45:45):
He very well might be. I think he is due.
Speaker 9 (01:45:47):
He's a surefire, no brainer Hall of famer, and we
don't talk about him. It's the weirdest thing. And you
know what if they get the number two receiver gooing
his thing again like he caught a touchdown pass. I
think this past weekend, so I Tampa can New Orleans
is this case because their defense is lights out, how
good car plays and how healthy their players are. And
(01:46:09):
Atlanta Caroline is the only team that can't win that
division this year. So it is fair to say that
New Orleans could. I'm not if you said sean guarantee
they're going to win the division, I would say that
Tampa and Atlanta will still have something to say about it.
Speaker 1 (01:46:21):
Ex.
Speaker 6 (01:46:22):
New Orleans won forty seven to ten.
Speaker 9 (01:46:23):
They beat a bad team right now, a team, a
team that, even though they upgraded this offseason, they looked
like they didn't upgrade this offseason.
Speaker 5 (01:46:32):
Dude, I got a couple more as we're getting ready
to go to break the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 6 (01:46:36):
Josh Allen will win in January.
Speaker 7 (01:46:42):
One game or more than one.
Speaker 6 (01:46:44):
One at least one. Oh no, I'm sorry, more than one.
Speaker 9 (01:46:46):
Well, for me, that's an overreaction you're talking about this
year or anytime this year.
Speaker 5 (01:46:52):
It ties into basically ties into what he did in
the second half to will his team. Essentially, he did
it all himself to get his team to a win.
Speaker 9 (01:46:59):
My back, My whole thing is can he sustain all
that every week? Because if he plays average, they're not
gonna win. No, for the most part, they're not gonna
win against good teams. He can play average and they
can beat someb of their suppose they can be Carolina.
He not gonna win. I mean, they can't win with
him playing average now, sustaining that he'll be the MVP
in the league. If that's the case, if this, if
he continues to and he's quite capable. I'll tell you
(01:47:20):
why it's an overreaction for me is because I don't
have him in the playoffs this year.
Speaker 7 (01:47:25):
Now.
Speaker 9 (01:47:25):
After watching the Jets last night, they're like, they've got
to be better, but I don't. And I've had them
as one of my fair haired teams the last three
years of getting to the AFC Championship Game or the
super Bowl, they've been my Toronto Blue Jays, ironically, not
far from each other. I've been my Toronto Blue Jays
for like the last three years. Like dude, they're loaded,
but I don't think they elevated their perimeter.
Speaker 7 (01:47:46):
People.
Speaker 9 (01:47:47):
But he's gonna have to play like Superman. So I'm
gonna say no, not this year. At some point in time,
Josh Allen's gonna be back winning. He'll win, and he's
just too good not to win. Some time in January.
It won't happen this year. I don't think they're going
to the playoffs, but and I hope I'm wrong because
I'd like to see them over when they don't have
the roster that they're used to do.
Speaker 6 (01:48:04):
You have him winning one of this year. I have
him winning one game this year.
Speaker 7 (01:48:08):
So you got him as a wild card in the play.
Speaker 6 (01:48:10):
It's a wild card in the playoffs. Yeah, yeah. Because
I have the Jets winning that division.
Speaker 9 (01:48:13):
I think it's safer for them to be a wild
card than my prediction that only one team makes it
from the AFC East. I think you're you're If you're
a betman, you go with your saying, come on Buffalo,
Miami and the Jets.
Speaker 7 (01:48:24):
With the way the Patriots played and all, we're sitting.
Speaker 9 (01:48:26):
Here after one week thinking only one team's gonna make Yeah,
maybe not, or maybe two. Hell, they may be the
three teams that make three of those teams may make
only one in the North.
Speaker 7 (01:48:34):
Yeah, we'll see.
Speaker 5 (01:48:35):
All right, I got two more for you. The Pittsburgh
Steelers need the ditch, ditch the idea of Russell Wilson
being their starter and just ride with Justin Fields as
they're starting.
Speaker 7 (01:48:43):
I wouldn't have gone at now.
Speaker 9 (01:48:44):
There's not a whole lot of risk with russ right,
Wilson Right, It's not like you're paying them.
Speaker 6 (01:48:47):
Yeah, you're not paying contract to me.
Speaker 9 (01:48:50):
I wouldn't have gone in russ Wilson to me, even
though he played better in Denver. Russ Wilson's football's best
is behind him. I don't think he's washed. I just
think he's a guy. Justin Fields is a more talented
guy right now.
Speaker 7 (01:49:02):
Now. I don't know if Justin Field is ever going
to be able to polish this passing game.
Speaker 1 (01:49:05):
Now.
Speaker 9 (01:49:05):
They've struggled with the pass since Ben walked out the door.
Consider Trubisky and Kenny two Gloves and russ Wilson, Mason Rudolph.
They did they just if they've struggled with the with
the you know, with the consistency of an explosive passing game.
I think Justin Fields is enormously talented. They won it,
they keep winning. I wouldn't take him out if they winning.
(01:49:26):
I think the sign I think bringing russ Wilson there
was a bit overrated. I just feel like it's it
doesn't seem like his type of fit. And I maybe
I'm wrong, but I don't think he gives you much
more other than experience. His talent doesn't tell me he's
a better talent maybe a more consistent passer than Fields.
I think Fields can do just fine. To me, they're
not going to the playoffs because of Russ Wilson.
Speaker 7 (01:49:48):
If that's the case.
Speaker 5 (01:49:49):
Last one after week one, the Texans are the best
team in the AFC.
Speaker 9 (01:49:58):
Texans just by what we saw second Chiefs number one
still Now, that dude in the backfield brought that a
lot closer to Kansas City than further away, and their
physicality brought them a lot closer to Kansas City than
the further away The chief first power rankings, AFC Chiefs first,
(01:50:23):
Texan second after week one.
Speaker 5 (01:50:24):
The speed on the perimeter of the Kansas City Chiefs
bothers me.
Speaker 9 (01:50:29):
It should bother everybody because they got guys. They got
guys who jogged their way.
Speaker 7 (01:50:33):
To four four.
Speaker 6 (01:50:34):
It's it's just stupid.
Speaker 9 (01:50:35):
Yeah, they that that they're still and let's face facts,
the experience they have of dealing with big moments is
better than everybody because they've done it enough. It's slight
advantage them, but that they put it this way, the
gaps closed a little more.
Speaker 5 (01:50:49):
You mentioned power rankings. We've got them right here in
front of me. Let's go through them next. On Sports Talk,
seven to eighteen.
Speaker 9 (01:50:53):

hold up the last time we had a storm, but
I didn't do it, so I want to get out
in front of it or man storm hits got to
have it again and with urgency.
Speaker 7 (01:51:18):

twenty eight three two seven one fifty six twenty get
yourself an ask the most important to get out in
front of it. You deserve the peace of mind if
a storm hits, to know that one thing's for sure,
the roof is holding up. It's Country Boys Roofing, Country
(01:52:22):
with a K, Boys with a Z, Countryboys ROOFINGLLC dot com.
Fifteen hundred dollars off from military educators and first responders.
It's Countryboys Roofing LLC dot com.
Speaker 4 (01:52:34):
This Sean Salisbury show continues to continue.
Speaker 6 (01:52:39):
I've got I mean, I've got them all, but.
Speaker 7 (01:52:41):
Yeah, I mean about deep You want to go see
how close we can get and I have a look
at him, my promise.
Speaker 9 (01:52:45):
All right, let's go top five, Top five Kant City Chiefs,
uh huh, Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 7 (01:52:52):
No, they had to put a Texan second.
Speaker 6 (01:52:55):
No, I mean Texans are top five, but they're not second.
Speaker 7 (01:52:57):
Here's the five teams.
Speaker 9 (01:52:59):
Yeah, Chiefs, Eagles, Texans forty nine ers and Chiefs Eagles,
Texans forty nine ers and Lions.
Speaker 5 (01:53:10):
Okay, you got a couple of them. Correct, couple? That's two?
So I only got two? No, you got you got four?
Speaker 1 (01:53:18):
Correct?
Speaker 6 (01:53:20):
Are not in there?
Speaker 9 (01:53:21):
Okay, So there's just Eagles are listed at number eight.
So if the Cowboys went into Cleveland? Did they put
the Cowboys in top five? Is this like you got
to move up like the college football rankings? Or it's
just after one game? Where you after one day? It
was going in, it was from preseason going.
Speaker 7 (01:53:37):
Okay, where are you in ranked?
Speaker 9 (01:53:38):
Preseason? We have preseason ranked? Okay, So the one team
I'm leaving out's got to gotta be blatant. So is
the AFC or NFC AFS Yeah, AFC, they'll say it's Buffalo.
Speaker 6 (01:53:48):
It is Buffalo?
Speaker 7 (01:53:49):
Is it really?
Speaker 9 (01:53:50):
So it goes gosh, I didn't think that they were
anywhere near the top five, like top ten, maybe even
not top five.
Speaker 5 (01:53:56):
Kansas City preseason ranked Power use me power ranking number one,
San Francisco forty nine ers going up one spot, Buffalo
Bills going up one spot to number three, the Lions
jumping up three spots to number four, and the Houston
Texans jumping up to number five from number eight.
Speaker 7 (01:54:15):
Well, I could tell you this.
Speaker 9 (01:54:16):
I mean as good as Buffalo did to come back
and win, and with Josh Allen, if those two would
have played last week, I think Buffalo would have had
a hard time beating the Texans. So that is just
where they were ranked preseason and jumping in the polls.
Speaker 5 (01:54:27):
Yeah, the two teams that dropped the most the Green
Bay Packers down thirteen spots the number fifteen, and the
Cincinnati Bengals down eleven spots to number sixteen.
Speaker 1 (01:54:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:54:37):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 9 (01:54:38):
I don't know where the Cleveland Browns were, but they
need to be dropped as well.
Speaker 5 (01:54:40):
Let's see, Cleveland Browns dropped five spots to number twenty one.
Speaker 9 (01:54:46):
Well, what a fall for the Bengals and Packers. I
assure you though neither one of them are staying there.
Speaker 5 (01:54:50):
Well, they're gonna the Packers are going to be without
Jordan Love for up to six weeks, so that could
be a problem.
Speaker 6 (01:54:57):
Got Malik Willis as their starting quarterba.
Speaker 7 (01:54:58):
I first thought it was going to be three weeks,
didn't they?
Speaker 1 (01:55:01):
Yeah? They did.
Speaker 9 (01:55:02):
Yeah, and now they've increased to possibly six weeks, six weeks,
three weeks. They can survive. I'm not sure they can
further survive now. We all had him in the playoffs, right,
did you happen as a while? But six weeks without
him different?
Speaker 7 (01:55:14):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (01:55:14):
I don't think Malik Willis is ready for this, No, no,
but we'll see he can. He's got a howitzer for
an arm, right, I don't think he's ready for this,
especially with the you know, with how far Jordan Loves
can and they expectator. What a bummer for him, What
a bummer for Jordan Love to have to go through
that got paid though, right.
Speaker 6 (01:55:30):
He sure did?
Speaker 1 (01:55:30):
There you go? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:55:31):
And also one another big biggest mover, the Chargers up
seven spots to number eleven.
Speaker 7 (01:55:38):
Keep an eye on that team.
Speaker 9 (01:55:40):
Yeah, we talked about physical to me that the Chargers
in the Texans stood out as far as doing what
they wanted to do with the line of scrimmage in
the run game.
Speaker 6 (01:55:49):
Yeah, yeah, well ye, and we talked about it.
Speaker 9 (01:55:51):
And last night the forty nine ers doing doing their
thing when they didn't get you know, kick a lot
of field goals, but control line scrimage against a team
that's got a really good front seven.
Speaker 5 (01:56:00):
But Trevor Mock listens to us in the mornings. He
just tweeted me saying, I'm riding with my Venezuelan coworker.
I asked him on Google Translate if this was a banger,
and he nodded and said, see.
Speaker 9 (01:56:10):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 6 (01:56:12):
David Leaguarz of Baby, there you go.
Speaker 1 (01:56:13):
Thank you.
Speaker 9 (01:56:14):
And you know what, David leeu Garza shall not be mocked.
See what I did there with Travis with mocked.
Speaker 6 (01:56:19):
You remember the quarterback to play the ut last name
of Mock.
Speaker 7 (01:56:23):
Yeah, I'm my mind's running a mock right now. Was
that was it? Mock?
Speaker 6 (01:56:32):
Yeah, Chance Mock?
Speaker 7 (01:56:33):
Oh, there you go. No, I don't know much about him.
Speaker 6 (01:56:35):
Yeah, he was played football at the University of Texas quarterback.
Speaker 7 (01:56:38):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (01:56:39):
Yeah, it's his brother, Trevor.
Speaker 7 (01:56:40):
Oh it is yeah. Oh I didn't know, is there?
Speaker 9 (01:56:42):
Yeah? Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah, I've heard the name,
but I didn't What years did he play there?
Speaker 6 (01:56:46):
He was at Texas from two thousand to two thousand
and four.
Speaker 9 (01:56:49):
He looks crazy. Two thousand to two thousand and four.
Oh cool, that's awesome athletic family.
Speaker 1 (01:56:56):
I like it. Yeah, so, well, now we got it.
Speaker 9 (01:56:58):
He's also translator to get to understand that we got a.
Speaker 7 (01:57:01):
Banger, David Lee Garza.
Speaker 5 (01:57:03):
Yeah, so Trevor the brother, uh listens to us, listens
to seven ninety and Uh, I want to say, Dan Matthews,
Uh doesn't allow Trevor to win anything only on our giveaways. Yes,
it might be all tongue in cheeks stuff, but I
saw some tweet yees.
Speaker 9 (01:57:18):
It seems to me that'd be mocking him. Okay, right, yeah,
I love that. Thanks, I love you right with that one.
Speaker 1 (01:57:26):
Cool to have.
Speaker 9 (01:57:26):
Imagine he had a good time going to those UT
games too. Now I'm talking about his brother played right,
Why are you dogging him?
Speaker 1 (01:57:32):
I'm not. I'm not my dad jokes.
Speaker 6 (01:57:35):
Yeah, your dad jokes. What I'm laughing at?
Speaker 7 (01:57:37):
Don't mock me.
Speaker 5 (01:57:40):
Let's getting nine o'clock hour. Let's talk a little Houston
Astros baseball, one of the top prospects getting moved up quickly?
Speaker 6 (01:57:47):

Speaker 4 (01:58:27):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:58:32):
Looking at the standings in the Al West, the Astros
have a four and a half game lead over the Mariners.
You have the Texas Rangers seven and a half back,
the Oakland Athletics fifteen and a half back.
Speaker 6 (01:58:47):
Just looking ahead.
Speaker 7 (01:58:48):
Do you feel the same way real quick?
Speaker 1 (01:58:50):
Yes?
Speaker 9 (01:58:50):
When somebody like when an announcer, I don't know if
you feel this, but I don't think you care neither
do I wind an announcer no hitters going on and
talks says that doesn't bother me, but I know.
Speaker 7 (01:58:58):
Bothers some of the jinks.
Speaker 1 (01:59:00):
Is it?
Speaker 9 (01:59:01):
Do they feel the same about do fans feel the
same about Like right now they have a four and
a half game lead. If I said Division over, is
that is?
Speaker 1 (01:59:12):
We can't do that?
Speaker 9 (01:59:12):
We got to play them, all of course, you gotta
play them. If you say that is it?
Speaker 7 (01:59:16):
Is it jinks?
Speaker 9 (01:59:16):
You jinks this man? You said we were winning the division?
We didn't, is it? Do people believe that?
Speaker 6 (01:59:20):
Probably?
Speaker 7 (01:59:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (01:59:22):
Do you see how people? No, I don't know, division over?
Speaker 6 (01:59:25):
Is it over?
Speaker 1 (01:59:27):
I don't know?
Speaker 7 (01:59:28):
It just sound little?
Speaker 9 (01:59:29):
It could be hyperbolic, overrated, underrated, properly rated on my
what I just said, division over?
Speaker 6 (01:59:37):
Mm mmmm, properly rated.
Speaker 7 (01:59:41):
You think it's over?
Speaker 9 (01:59:43):
It's not underrated, you don't know, over hyped, under hype,
properly hyped. With my hyperbolic not hyperbolic perfect fit. If
you have to hesitate, you're not gonna be.
Speaker 6 (01:59:56):
I'm not convinced.
Speaker 9 (01:59:57):
All right, then it's just still still too.
Speaker 6 (01:59:59):
Close for okay, fair enough.
Speaker 5 (02:00:01):
I trust and believe in the Astros, especially when it
comes to uh taking care of business, staying on business.
Speaker 9 (02:00:07):
Would you bet five thousand if somebody's five thousand if
they win the division?
Speaker 6 (02:00:10):
Nope?
Speaker 9 (02:00:10):
You were you five grand of my own money right now,
my own money, Yes, five thousand dollars.
Speaker 7 (02:00:15):
Yes, No, if you win the division, you double it.
Speaker 6 (02:00:17):
Well, what if they lose it?
Speaker 9 (02:00:19):
All? No, I'm taking that. But somebody wants to offer
me that bet, I'm in. No, man, have you seen
nineteen eighteen games?
Speaker 1 (02:00:26):
Agoy?
Speaker 6 (02:00:26):
Have you seen grocery prices?
Speaker 7 (02:00:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (02:00:28):
And they look a lot better with ten grand in
your hand instead of five. So wait a minute for
four game lead with this team who's experienced?
Speaker 1 (02:00:37):
Yep, with what.
Speaker 7 (02:00:38):
Eighteen or nineteen games to go? Something like that? Is
that where we're at.
Speaker 6 (02:00:42):
Let me do some math here.
Speaker 7 (02:00:43):
And you don't trust their winning the division?
Speaker 9 (02:00:45):
Oh yeah, if somebody wants to offer me those odds,
I'm in nineteen games left. Okay, Yeah, no, I'm in.
I'm in nineteen games left. Maybe hyperbolic, but I'm saying
that they are winning this division.
Speaker 5 (02:00:57):
Yeah, I I'm just now five grand much hundred bucks you,
I'll put it down, even though tw hundred bucks will
still only get me like a couple of things at
the grocery.
Speaker 7 (02:01:04):
So you wouldn't bet me five grand? They're gonna no.
Speaker 9 (02:01:07):
No, But if somebody says, here, I'll double your money
in nineteen games if the Astros win the division from
five even if it was ten to twenty twenty to
forty five to ten and you so you're you're.
Speaker 7 (02:01:17):
Not willing to take that.
Speaker 1 (02:01:19):
I just think that's a I think that's a safe.
Speaker 9 (02:01:21):
That's a to me, that's a fairly good I think
if some investor gave you that with your money to say, damn,
I don't know. There's no guarantee. Yeah, but it's it's worth.
The reward is worth for now. If you said four
and a half out, they're gonna win the division, I
ain't betting it four and a half ahead. With the
experience of this team, and know one you still got
(02:01:43):
from ber you used Toll, got Hunter Brown, the way
Kakushie's pitching.
Speaker 6 (02:01:46):
Yeah, but if you Honker's back, it's not bad.
Speaker 1 (02:01:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:01:50):
Guess what.
Speaker 9 (02:01:51):
Okay, so they gained one game every five good. I'm
still winning the division five five racks. If somebody wants
to give me those odds and straight up bet me,
I'm in five grands is too much for me, man,
it's too it's too much. But I believe I'm winning ten.
That's called gambling, dog.
Speaker 1 (02:02:08):
I get there.
Speaker 2 (02:02:09):
Now.
Speaker 9 (02:02:09):
You want to put a five dollar bet ten ten dollars,
bet twenty dollars.
Speaker 10 (02:02:12):
Bet.
Speaker 7 (02:02:12):
Come on, that's not stretching. That's not stretching.
Speaker 9 (02:02:14):
I do two hundred bucks. What about five hundy? I'll
do five hundred five hundy. Yeah, what about a grand?
Speaker 7 (02:02:20):
No?
Speaker 5 (02:02:21):
No, well, it look like I'm a frugal better. They
look I have money bags right now, right, even though
I may I may have bet a couple couple, you know,
a couple of bones on the Sam Houston game over
the weekend.
Speaker 6 (02:02:32):
But hey, who's counting?
Speaker 5 (02:02:33):
You know, I may bet, you know, a plus five
point fifty bet on Arkansas to winning overtime.
Speaker 7 (02:02:38):
But you know, so, why don't you? Yeah, you're live betting, right.
Speaker 6 (02:02:41):
I was live betting, allegedly, allegedly.
Speaker 7 (02:02:44):
We don't have to say allegedly anymore.
Speaker 9 (02:02:46):
Yeah, we don't. You can talk into gambling you want,
that's right, So I'll ask you, uh huh, five thousand.
They're going to win the division?
Speaker 7 (02:02:53):
No would trip.
Speaker 6 (02:02:56):
For the as Yeah?
Speaker 9 (02:02:57):
No for for Harry Hatchett, ass for that. Oh yeah,
I know you're too busy. I'm just kidding you. Yeah,
five grand, right today, you have five grand if you win?
If they win the division, even by half a game,
or even if they win in a tiebreak and they
win the division.
Speaker 1 (02:03:09):
You get ten grand.
Speaker 13 (02:03:10):
I'm taking the Astros winning the.
Speaker 1 (02:03:11):
Division, all right.
Speaker 9 (02:03:12):
So he's betting five grand, Yeah, put ten on it,
me too, He'll put ten to get twenty. I might too.
Somebody off for me that bet. Please, they're not getting
chased down. Sorry to tell you, brother, I don't think
they are either. Just for five grand and you just
don't have well, you just don't have the balls to
bet it correct. And I'm not dogging yet, right, I've
cover you, you know. Thanks for good talk. Yeah, good fodder.
Speaker 7 (02:03:32):
So you're scared a little bit?
Speaker 1 (02:03:33):
Five grand? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (02:03:35):
Would you buy? Would you buy a dog for five grand?
Speaker 6 (02:03:37):
We adopt, we don't shot?
Speaker 7 (02:03:38):
Here you go?
Speaker 1 (02:03:39):
So no?
Speaker 10 (02:03:40):
Nice?
Speaker 1 (02:03:41):
Yeah? No?
Speaker 6 (02:03:42):
Spencer areng Getty on the mountain night?
Speaker 7 (02:03:43):
Who Spence?
Speaker 9 (02:03:48):
I this will be a good performance by him tonight,
after what he did, after what happened last time?
Speaker 7 (02:03:56):
So bounce back? What did you call it?
Speaker 6 (02:03:59):
Versus beata?
Speaker 7 (02:04:00):
What do you call it?
Speaker 9 (02:04:00):
Though?
Speaker 7 (02:04:01):
What do you think people call him?
Speaker 6 (02:04:03):
A lot of people call him Spencer Arenghetty.
Speaker 9 (02:04:06):
Do I expect an Astros win, an a two or
three win? They can rake now the long ball ball
leave the park for Oakland. I mean they can, they
can hit, But I I like, I actually like that
Ara Getty is gonna be I think he bounces back
from this and right now, just take care of your business.
(02:04:27):
I don't really care about the guys behind us.
Speaker 7 (02:04:29):
How's that?
Speaker 6 (02:04:29):
There you go?
Speaker 9 (02:04:30):
That's how that's how I take it one pitch at
the time. Let's not go there.
Speaker 6 (02:04:33):
Well, I mean that's I.
Speaker 7 (02:04:34):
Want to take it more than one pitch at a time.
I really do.
Speaker 9 (02:04:36):
I of like take it three pitches at a time,
three pitches or what three three pitches? I mean you
can take it three pitches at a time. Now, that's
to be. That to be you got a bigger chance
to lose that.
Speaker 6 (02:04:52):
Yeah, I think I wouldn't take that either though.
Speaker 7 (02:04:54):
That's right.
Speaker 6 (02:04:54):
Let's talk to Joseph real quick. Joseph, good morning.
Speaker 14 (02:04:58):
Oh yes, yes, how you're doing there? I that's a
lot of things on my mind right now. But the
baseball course, you don't want to ask you. It's why
everybody feels like you shoot wan a win in the dision.
But Seattle is charging. I mean they're on our super
charge too, because I didn't think to upeat Saint Louis Cardiners.
So that's my take. I just I'm not I don't
(02:05:21):
have no confidence right now. Okay, take care of.
Speaker 9 (02:05:25):
Thank you, Joseph. Let's see the Seattle Mariners.
Speaker 6 (02:05:30):
How many games in the four and a half back.
Speaker 1 (02:05:34):
They took?
Speaker 9 (02:05:35):
Uh, they split with Oakland and then they took two
out of three from Saint Louis.
Speaker 5 (02:05:40):
I wouldn't say that they're charging. They were off yesterday
as well. They played San Diego today and tomorrow. George
Kirby and wu are pitching.
Speaker 9 (02:05:51):
If you don't have confidence five four and a half up,
how would you feel if they're four and a half down. Yeah,
I got more confidence than a lot of people do.
Let's and it'll be tight. We said it's coming down
the last two series of the season in spring, so
this doesn't surprise me. I just simply said win the division,
and I'm believing there. When I believe they will win
the division. They've come too far to fall out of
(02:06:12):
this thing now after being down ten. Yeah, yeah, I
believe that they're going to Now does that mean it's
not going to get tighter at the end, But I
would I would be willing to bet that that they're
winning this division. If you were going to double my
money on the take, no doubt.
Speaker 5 (02:06:26):
Yeah, let's continue to talk Houston Astros. They called up
to Triple A one of their top prospects. Let's look
at it next right here on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 9 (02:06:34):

but it could hit you sooner, and so would it
be a nice place, a peace of mind for you
to go in and say, oh, it was just my testosterone.

who Men's T Clinic is, full body wellness eight hundred horsepower.

Speaker 2 (02:08:12):
The Hottest takes sports so emotionally tied to the team.
Speaker 4 (02:08:17):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 2 (02:08:20):
Hi That's on Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 5 (02:08:22):
Ninety uh officially the Browns in the NFL have declined
comment on this suit.
Speaker 6 (02:08:29):
That coming from uh.
Speaker 5 (02:08:33):
One of the beat writers from Cleveland, Mary Kay Cabot.
Speaker 9 (02:08:37):
I swear she been on this for a long time.
I swear right when you said I was gonna say
be writer, Mary Kay's on this, I'll bet you there
you go, she tweeted out.
Speaker 5 (02:08:44):
The Browns and the NFL have declined comment on the
suit filed against Deshaun Watson on Monday. Surprise you no close, No,
not at all. Seven seven ninety is the number to
join us. Get back out to the phone lines. Don
welcome in.
Speaker 9 (02:08:58):
Hey man, how you doing?
Speaker 20 (02:09:00):
Deshaun Watson?
Speaker 14 (02:09:01):
Thing?
Speaker 20 (02:09:01):
I wouldn't doubt so, I'm not even going to respond
to that thing. Hey, I'm going to talk about some
hard news that we need to talk about here. I
like for y'all respond. And that's the Justin Verlander thing.
You know, the back of his baseball card is really awesome.
Up to now, his last two starts of sugar Land
plus the two stars he's had with the Astros has
showed that his EER.
Speaker 4 (02:09:21):
Is nine point five eight.
Speaker 20 (02:09:23):
But that's over the last two games he had with
the Astros. You add in sugar Land and it's over twelve.
I would really like to see a decision made by
the Astros that Verlander just to go ahead and need
to have a neck injury or next stepness or whatever
and go out on his own accord right now. I
hope Justin Verlander makes his own decision that he needs
(02:09:47):
to step down and just be a mentor to these
younger pitchers we have right now, because you know, we've
watched his last two games and Verlander just doesn't have it.
But like I said, the back of his baseball card
is really off. Awesome, but hey, that don't put a
ring on your finger today. Man, Sorry about that, guys,
but I'll just hang up and listen to you.
Speaker 12 (02:10:06):
Guys.
Speaker 9 (02:10:07):
You're not no need to be sorry. It's not personal
for Justin, for you, Justin Verlander me, it's not personal.
Back of the baseball cards awesome. Don't care about that.
We've talked to Steve Sparks. I'll tell you what he
said in a second on the show on Monday. But
I think both Brian and I agree that if you
playoffs started today, you can't. He's not in your starting rotation, can't.
(02:10:27):
I don't care what the Baseball Card says, Oh, yeah,
he's got history.
Speaker 7 (02:10:29):
You owe it to him. No, you don't. You don't know.
Speaker 9 (02:10:32):
He didn't know what I'm not saying him. But when
he left in New York, he didn't know it to
him to stay for less money. Right, he won't got
more money. Right, I don't blame him. Come in here
and love him. I want the guy to get three
hundred wins. I love him right now. He's not one
of your four best starters. He just isn't now what
they are.
Speaker 10 (02:10:49):
Going to do.
Speaker 9 (02:10:49):
And that one thing I can tell you don that's
not going to happen him bowing out and saying I
think I'll go. He's got there's some goals he wants
to reach and he's not bound out from this because
I think his competitive would say since he's healthy that
he's bailing out on the team. He wouldn't want that perception, right,
He's not doing that now. He may end up in
the bullpen for the postseason, but as Steve Sparks pointed out,
(02:11:09):
we got what three or four more starts, Let's see
what happens. And Steve also pointed out the velocity was
up about three miles an hour.
Speaker 7 (02:11:17):
About three three ticks.
Speaker 9 (02:11:18):
It was up so now movement and locating and all
that comes into play. But don you may not get
him in the postseason as a starter, And I'm with
you right now.
Speaker 7 (02:11:26):
I would not start him.
Speaker 9 (02:11:27):
In the postseason regardless of his history during the regular
season and is a great pitcher and a guy have admiration,
respect for performance.
Speaker 1 (02:11:35):
Says you, you can't.
Speaker 9 (02:11:37):
But what if it changes and he looks like Verlander
the next four starts, three starts.
Speaker 7 (02:11:42):
Then you're going.
Speaker 9 (02:11:43):
Then then you now you've got a decision to make
right now. To me, there is no decision. It's an
easy one. It's fromber It's Hunter Brown, and it's Kakuchi.
The first three. The fourth guy's in the battle, him
and Spencer Arraghetti and even Renelle Blanco.
Speaker 7 (02:11:57):
But he's he's he's.
Speaker 9 (02:12:00):
Labored more in the second half of the season because
you know innings and all the things he's doing. So
Verlander to me, has to pick it up in the
next three or four starts or you can't start him.
We already know who the first three arts, two left.
He's in a righty and the rioty's name is Hunter Brown,
not justin Verlander. Now if in three starts, it picks
up and he's v lows up and he's kicking ass
and doing his thing, no problem, justin Verlander. That's where
(02:12:22):
the back of the baseball card validates. Oh Okay, we
knew this guy. But if anybody knows his body knows
how to pitch through this stuff, it's him. But I'm
not giving the lifetime achievement order. It's got to prove
it the next three or four weeks to get a
start in the postseason. Yeah, he has to perform, and
he hasn't. Except the fact I don't all think he'd,
I mean, a competitor is I don't think he'd tell
you he's pitching his best either. He's a pretty he's
(02:12:43):
a pretty straightforward dude when it comes to this.
Speaker 5 (02:12:45):
Yeah, he said the results of his outing where he
pitched just three innings, he said the results were atrocious.
Speaker 6 (02:12:50):
So he knows it.
Speaker 9 (02:12:51):
Hence why he's a great player over the course of time,
because you know what, it's easy to be great when
they hey, yeah, thumbs up, great performance. It's when you're
critically your knowing that I'm just not doing what I
normally have to do. It's gonna have to get better
because lifetime Achievement award isn't part of success in twenty
twenty four. If he pulls through the next three or
(02:13:12):
four weeks, I have no issue running him out there
at all as a starter. But right now I know
who the three are in my opinion, and again it's
fromber first, Brown, second, Kakuchi third.
Speaker 7 (02:13:24):
Yeah, and then you can decide.
Speaker 9 (02:13:26):
We'll see Aragetti's bounce back tonight, We'll see Verlander's next art.
But he's not bail out before the season starts unless
he gets hurt. He's gonna finish his starts.
Speaker 5 (02:13:34):
Yeah, and Dana Brown told us last week that they
know that he's in quote unquote spring training mode. You
may not like it, but that's what the front office
is telling us, So he's trying to They're not gonna
pitched through that. Yeah, there's not gonna be any kind
of phantom il stint before the playoffs or nothing like
that just came off the IOLs.
Speaker 9 (02:13:52):
Now, if he becomes the Justin Verlander monster, we know,
hell no issue here because if it doesn't work out
in three innings in I can go to Blanco or
one or Arraghetty and have them long relief and give
me three or so innings if I need it.
Speaker 7 (02:14:07):
So I think that's fine.
Speaker 9 (02:14:09):
But you're trying to get your starting staff to get
you to six innings regardless, so I'm willing to let Verlander.
I don't think Verlander's performance is going to decide whether
you win the division or not. There's enough good pitching now.
If he pitches three in eight innings, gives up eight
runs and three innings and can't get anybody out, no
minimal swing and miss, Right, what do you say, three
(02:14:30):
whiffs in the whole time, four four the entire game,
three innings, right, Yeah, So yeah, it's never personal, so
you don't have to apologize for saying sorry, guys, but
I think most people would agree with you right now.
You can't start him, No in the postseason, No, you can't.
It's just not happening, agreed. And he's got to figure
it out because they're going to need him. So it's
also a guarantee. Got to figure it out.
Speaker 1 (02:14:53):
All right.
Speaker 5 (02:14:53):

Well, so did we keep the whole time? Yes, but
that's we got to call each.
Speaker 6 (02:16:11):
Other the whole show, the whole time.
Speaker 5 (02:16:13):
So in college Spanish, my name was not Brian, it
wasnre S Benjamin, So you could be Ricardo.
Speaker 9 (02:16:26):
Well that's what I was gonna say. If I go
by Richard Shawn is Richard Shawn, I can go by Ricardo, Ricardo, Ricardo, Ricardo, Ricardo, Ricardo, Ricardo. Yeah,
what's up Ricardo Saz. Did you change the name of
(02:16:46):
Riccardo on the show? Yeah, man, it's Ricardo on day
on Tuesday, Man.
Speaker 1 (02:16:50):
Dude, I go back to ESCO, I roll in there and.
Speaker 7 (02:16:52):
Say Richard Shawn. Then you go Ricardo.
Speaker 6 (02:16:54):
What's the what's my boy?
Speaker 7 (02:16:56):
Michael?
Speaker 9 (02:16:57):
Well, it's close to Juan, which is John and maybe
that's how it's translated. Then obviously I told you I
was Pepe because I had a we had.
Speaker 7 (02:17:04):
A Juan in the room.
Speaker 9 (02:17:06):
So like the name is Juan. There you go, so
might you want, you want one? Thinking about it, my
my college made me. My high school Spanish teacher said,
you're going to be Pepe because we already have Juan
in We had John in there. So I said, okay,
no problem. So I was Pepe. I don't want to
be Pepe here. So we got who Manuel and.
Speaker 6 (02:17:24):
Your ben Benjamin.
Speaker 9 (02:17:28):
I mean, but if you roll up and if we
roll up in there, us three together, my me, my hometown, Esco,
and my peeps are there, and we go Manuel, Benjamin
and Ricardo would be big in my community. Dude, I'm
going That's that's why I am Richard Sean, give me Ricardo.
So you want Ricardo Riccardo? Okay, I frigged love it.
I might get used to it. Hey, man, that's right,
(02:17:49):
Carlo man? What does how's he doing with his name?
He told us to come to Esco? He brought him, man,
he brought his boys, right, brought his boys and men.
I thought I thought was Pepe by Pepe?
Speaker 1 (02:18:04):
We had him in class.
Speaker 7 (02:18:05):
What happened? Mister Jones? He didn't like it. Now he's Ricardo.
What sounds he come over with Ricardo? Oh that's right,
he's Richard first.
Speaker 6 (02:18:11):
Man all right, man, I forgot about that.
Speaker 1 (02:18:13):
Man got you home.
Speaker 9 (02:18:14):
Yeah, so we got Manuel, ben Hamen and Ricardo Carlo. Yeah,

Speaker 9 (02:18:44):
Yes, the two most the three most golden voiceovers that
I hear now, well four in no particular, or you
know when you hear him on a commercial, like I
know those voices, he's at the top of the list.
Morgan Freeman, yep, those two for sure. Yeah, of course, yeah, Sam,
Sam l It Elliott cours commercials and don't discount the
(02:19:05):
uh Gene Hackman had, Yeah, you know doing I think
United Airlines cours for Sam Elliott. But James Earl Jones
for the longest time right now, the king of the
voiceovers is is Morgan Freeman, no doubt. But what a
run and we can next segment, I think that's a
guy I got. I've got a couple of his movie
clips that we're gonna play, because what a man friggin
(02:19:27):
run just a legend. I'm just telling you. Man from
Field to Dream, when he wasn't the lead, he was
still impactful, right.

Uh.
Speaker 9 (02:19:36):
In the Tom Clancy novels with Harrison Ford is the
is uh is the from a Spy or the c
I A and it goes. And he was his boss
at one point. You know, even in his smaller roles,
he was big as life. And then obviously is the
voice in the Lion King, Lion King Darth Vader. Yeah,
(02:19:57):
Darth Vader. I just say, get next to heat. Yeah,
he sure was hit that ball over the fence. You
better be prepared. He And another thing about him is
that that bigger than life thing, is it? It just
felt like he was I don't know, I almost feel
like everybody in Hollywood when they see him, it was
such royalty, just him, right, and just when you like
(02:20:18):
the reverence in which you hold.
Speaker 7 (02:20:19):
Him with, it was like, oh that's James Earl Jones.
Speaker 9 (02:20:21):
Ye, like he was everybody's father or grandfather, even when
he was like thirty, right, the presence and just he
just feels like a bigger than a life guy. And
I saw a picture like it was. It was like
a meme but a picture, and it had a lion
with its big paws on the tombstone and it had
(02:20:43):
Darth Vader standing over it as a cool Yeah, I
mean I hate to see it go. But what a
life lived for that guy. Yeah, I mean, And the
voice is is you know who else has a great voice?
It's is the You're in good hands is Dennis Haysbert

work too, because he's got the Dee blow voice.

But James Earl Jones, I don't I don't know how
you'd even describe him. I would imagine Hollywood today and
people around the country fans of movies, voice over everything,
and you know what he was always like when you
listen to me, just wanted to keep talking.

with uh Morgan Freeman, you know, and and the and
the others at.
Speaker 6 (02:21:45):
Elliott.
