Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsby.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sewan Salisbury, The.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
USC Truths, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Shawn Tripley, Good morning was happening at Fellas?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
What's up? What's up?
Speaker 4 (00:26):
Morning up?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Crazy ass weekend and a lot of different sports from
golf to college football, NFL starts, baseball. Berlander didn't look
real sharp yesterday. If you had three games right now
the name starters, you couldn't. You couldn't start him.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
No, you couldn't.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
You just can't. You could not, can't the Bregman situation,
that's what four straight games m hm. Great to see
force Whitley up side. What a if this turns into
a great comeback struck out three in his appearance, it'll
be one of the epic come back easy to root for.
Big sweep of the Royals and then you know, to
(01:06):
talk Kyle Tucker coming back would be great post Labor
Day as we expected. So a lot going on with them,
and college football was crazy. Florida State is putrid, The
University of Texas is really good. Connor Wigman I couldn't
have been more because you know I and I don't
(01:28):
want to make too big a point real quick, and
we'll get to a lot of this throughout the day,
but too big a emphasis on one game. I don't
think you need to crown Georgia national champions right now.
And I sure as hell don't think you need to
bury a player after one game, because that's unrealistic and
that's amateur hour to just be that extreme. But I
(01:48):
can tell you this, Connor Wigman was if he did
that three games in a row, you'd have to replace him. Yeah,
you just can't. That's they looked like tech A and
M's offense has looked. They were awful. It was slow,
dumbass penalties. Early in the game, it was there's nothing.
(02:10):
It's like Florida State. What'd I tell you the reason
why I wouldn't pick Florida State? What did I tell
you as a quarterback right quarterback play? I said, first
of all, find me maybe I'm wrong. I didn't even
look at it. I was driving in this morning thinking about this.
Got me fired him and I'm not. This isn't that
I want don't want guys to transfer and all that.
I think four transfers is a little much like TJ. Finley.
The guy goes to LSU, gets beat out, goes to Auburn,
(02:31):
gets beat out, goes to Texas State, and now he's
at Western Kentucky. Find me a quarterback who's transferred two
times or more. I don't mean a juco quarterback who
went to a Division two school than transferred to a
Division I'm talking about to highly recruited. Go boom boom,
boom boom for trans You find me one of those
guys you think J T. Daniels from s he is
ever leading an NFL team? No, okay, what about TJ. Finley?
(02:53):
No talented is all get out. Find me one who's
transferred two times or more? Who is I'm not saying
did have a good college career, but is leading a
team to the point you trust. Find me one. I'm
not going And I told you the thing that bothered
me the most about I liked Florida State's team. But
DJ just doesn't elevate people talented. Tell you what he
looks better in pregame than he does. I'm just telling
(03:13):
you he's just going to be a guy that, oh
he played, okay, when does he take a game like
Bowe Nicks did at Oregon or with what we saw
Williams or Jayden Daniels do look at it. I mean
the difference, and so Wigman has to play better. To me,
especially the quarterback position, because people are watching on your team,
(03:33):
something's missing from the guy who has to transfer three
and four times. I'm just telling you when it comes
to leadership, I don't trust him, and if I'm an
NFL team, I don't want them. Four transfers tells me
the second something hits unless there was four injuries. There's
a guy who caught a touchdown pass over a weekend
the tight end for is it Miami. I think Miami
cut the first time. He's an eighth year. If you
(03:55):
look at his thing, dude, he was hurt four straight years.
I get that. Man, you just want a chance to
keep playing, but to run for there's something bothers him.
Look at the sc and LSU two teams. Cam McCormick nine, yeah, yeah, yeah,
which he's played eight years, which is crazy, God bless him.
But because of injuries. But we got guys transfer without
injury four and five times. Take a look at the
(04:17):
quarterbacks in the s C LSU game. Easy for Miller
Moss and Nussmer are both damn good players to transfer. Oh,
I got beat out my freshman year sophomore. I understand
you're a senior. Haven't played you want one year ago,
and I get it. These guys stuck in there through
all kinds of crap and now get it. And neuss
Meyer's a good player and no shame in his law.
(04:37):
He played good football, missed a few throws, and Miller Moss,
I'm telling you, on schedule, he's better than Caleb Williams
is on schedule, I mean putting his foot in the
ground throat. He made a couple of tows in a game.
The one where he got hit in the mouth on
an RPO and through a bank post was phenomenal. And
then the whole shot at the end and LSU and
other team undisciplined penalties cost them. Stupidity on one on
(05:00):
sports and my conduct a point a gun at a
guy saying, well, just that's just stupid low IQ football. No,
it's not a guy having fun. It's good going into
a game celebrating your teammates, but shooting he just it's idiotic.
And then the head to head, lower your helmet to
make a hit, gave him fifteen x yarch chip shot
ball game over. That kid can play. We'll get to
all that. So I just there's so many emotions going
(05:23):
coming out of the college football without it locally here.
Texas is really good and this is gonna I'm gonna
tell you what. I'm an sc guy. If there's a
way to get to Michigan and watch Texas Michigan, it's
gonna be a blast.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
So, but they're good A and m they the better defense.
They you can't Connor Wigman has got to play better,
and I believe now. I was asked over the weekend
by a good friend what happened, said, one game, not
gonna panic about. But what it does bother me is
(05:57):
he looked skittish. He did, he did, he looked, he
didn't pull the trigger like you want him to now,
And he asked me. I said, but I understand this.
I remember I blew up my name my sophomore year.
We're leading the nation and passing or like six and
one top ten team in the country, rolling shredded my
knee came back early next year after I mean, in Mitchell,
(06:19):
it was a long process then, you know. Full length
cast all that for eight weeks. It came back and
the next year, and initially your thought process is can
I still do this, especially if it's the first bit
of like big injury adversity you've ever faced. So I
get the tentativeness because his game's always been multi threat great.
As I told you High Football IQ. He looked overwhelmed
(06:40):
in the game, which was shocking to me. Now I
can tell you this. The team he played, Notre Dame,
their defense and their secondary, their secondary as good as
areas in a country. They they're really good and they
will pressure you. But he did not elevate, and that's
been his game. I was shocked at his performance. Is
he hurt, I hope not like or full you mean,
(07:02):
or not fully recovered. I don't know that that I
can't answer for you. But he did not look as
mobile as I used to as I've seen him. He
just looked indecisive to me, is.
Speaker 6 (07:11):
There something wrong with his throwing motion as well? Like
he looked like he has a hitch.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Well, I don't know what.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
He's not fluid.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
I'm going back because I didn't I've never trained him.
I saw him in a game, you know, in a
high school game, and I've watched him, but I don't
know where what his mechanics were. I'm not I haven't
studied his mechanics. I was just paying attention at that
point to results of what was wrong. I started watching
him thinking, man, and they pressured him and made and
forced some bad things, but some bad throws and stuff.
He's got to play better, and I think he will.
(07:37):
It's one game, just saying an organ's offense. Are you
judging Organ by not offense but their score? With twenty
four to fourteen over Idaho, You're like, if you judge that,
you're saying Oregon a top five team. They were, They're
no good. So I'm not overreacting to this week or
you know, one week good or bad. But I can
tell you there's some performances around the country to leave
you shaking your head good and shaking your head bad.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
Yeah, excuse me. Uh, I just want to looked at
the Texas A and M game. I just figured their
defense was going to keep in it, keep it, keep
them in it, and Connor Reagman down the stretch would
just have to make it a couple of plays to
get them.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
I camember, was it tied? Yeah, to tie the ball game.
Speaker 6 (08:16):
Yeah, I was thirteen thirteen tie the ballgame, and he
just could not do it. He was twelve of what
twelve of thirty but one hundred yards throw.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
He looked like just to get He looked like they
were afraid to take shots. He looked like just a guy.
And they're better than that, and I know he is too.
So while it's just one week and you're fortunate that
you can lose the game these days and you're you're not,
oh my gosh, we lost the game on national TV,
were eliminated, or now it's just a run. You're gonna
have to play better the rest of the year. If
that's the offensive team that shows up this whole year,
(08:47):
yeah good. They won't win seven games. They're gonna get
their ask keeping. They will not sniff seven seven wins
this year. I trust the coach I do. I know
their defense is better, and I know the defensive coordinator
and what he's about out, but they they they've got
to play better because it looked all to Jimbo fisherish
last night or Saturday night, Yes, it just did. It
(09:11):
looked it looked like what are you afraid of? And
they're better than that, so is Connor Wigman. So a
lot to digest with this college football weekend, and and
you know who's what. But there are some teams that
are going to be really tough to handle this year.
It's going to be a fun friggin run. Looked really
good again. Dominant. They can make any that's another guy
(09:34):
who needs to play better. It's Cave Clubnicks got he's
got He's got it now. Georgia can make any good
player look bad. But I love his energy. But the
two guys that we expect when they came out of school,
if you remember club Nick and this and and and
Wigman are going to be great players. And I still
think they are. But in order to compete on a
(09:54):
daily basis, a weekly basis that position, especially when you're
not the best team in the conference, on either team,
you have got to elevate your play. And that's been
missing from Clemson. It had just flat ass has been
and it's been missing from A and M. Yet I
still trust both of those Texas quarterbacks. They're better than that.
So I'm not judging. But you keep a close eye
(10:14):
on which way that goes, is that north or south?
As they go on. I trust both those players, but
Clemson once again, offensively, they're just something's missing, right, and
so they got to elevate. And I trust both of them,
but man, it was not a good start for either team.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
No, it wasn't.
Speaker 6 (10:30):
And according to former NFL player Roddy White, Clemson too
many basic white guys on their offense.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Yeah, well that may be the case. And I could
tell you if basically white guys are getting away of everything, well,
but it is. It's so incumbent upon that that those
teams too. We haven't seen Clemson's offense the same since
Trevor Lawrence left, and we've been begging to see the
(10:55):
Texas A and M consistency with this, and I think
you will one injury. An injury gets in the way.
But I'm just telling you, I mean, for A and M,
that position is fragile. It's important, and at a time
when transfers are so all over the place, people coaches
now they won't hesitate to sit your ass down if
(11:16):
they don't think you can elevate. Well, and they're gonna
have to tell you what dju, uncle, lay, you got
about another game to play? To not move that ball
on a regular base and take some shots and be
or Mike Norvel is gonna hell. Could you imagine going
from should it possibly could have possibly been in the
final four to losing your gig? If this keeps up,
(11:36):
I mean, that's how fragile coaching is. Now, that's how
fragile is. And you know what you watch Georgia, Georgia
didn't come anywhere near to playing their best football. I
told you to get him early. He got him early
and had early on hanging around. They're going back. Carson
bec didn't play his best game. He's gonna be a
hell of a player. Then they start, they start getting
the feel of it and probably could have took some
hell from Kirby Smart at halftime. And here you go,
(11:59):
And I told you UNLV was a little better too.
Willie Fritz will have this team right. But you start
to look around quarterback league and if you can pressure
quarterbacks and get to them at him in the mouth,
it's it's a it's a special kind to make all
those plays, which makes you appreciate the guys who've left
and gonelect the Jayden and if you're LSU and as
good as Nut Smyer is and Canby you think, man,
(12:21):
those extra the movie. You either got to throw on
time or you better be awfully elusive as a quarterback
to extend plays. Hey, and shout out Bill O'Brien winning
with Boston College last night. Bill back in it. They
had a their their initial first two drives, their plan
last night. I loved it well, Bill O'Brien or not.
Fellow folks on Chestnut Hill shouldn't have been able to
(12:44):
stay in the game of Florida State. Not only they
stay in the game, they beat him and out played him.
Speaker 6 (12:47):
In a far more physical than they were Like, no questions,
got a lot to get into when it comes to
college football. Astros with a big weekend sweeping the Royals
last night taking on the Reds.
Speaker 7 (13:00):
They lose.
Speaker 6 (13:00):
Like I said earlier to begin the show, they are
off today. Justin Verlander struggling. Let's talk about him next

I have hard.
Speaker 6 (15:00):
Radio an And he did not look good. Four and
two thirds innings, eight hits, five earned runs. He has
not pitched well since coming back from the eye of a.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Bunch of bases on ball to four of them. Command
not there early. Yeah, he just need has not looked
good now. Woncle keeps grinding, laboring, but he's laboring through
starts at times. Hunter Brown Cocuchi was off the charts
this weekend. Unbelievable and there cannot be a soul out
(15:32):
there that's that now I guess there can if you
were had a love affair with low per feto, right right,
And I understand why when you start to think of potential,
production is better than potential. And he may have great production,
be an all star, hopefully he is for for his career,
but for this team and the needs of it, Kokuchi
has been not only better than the trade, I'd do
(15:55):
it a thousand times over for this year and you
may lose him if you go win a World Series.
Speaker 7 (15:59):
It was worth it.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
But right now you can tell me whatever you want.
They've won the trade here and Kakuchi was off the charts.
How are you keeping him out of this at the
starting rotation her off season? And I'll say it now,
regardless of the lost yesterday, it would take an epic fold,
with the way Seattle's up and down, epic fold not
to win this division. Well, they six in front or
(16:21):
five and a half. Uh? They Seattle lost yesterday as well,
Oakland hit a walk off. That's right, six So six
games you would have to with what twenty mid twenties,
low twenties, mid twenties to go right, yep, you would
have to fold up your tent. And I thought that
I heard in the pregame somebody say yesterday on the
TV side, the reporter say that Joe's spot told them
(16:44):
be ready to go every day. That's good news. I
like tearing that be ready to play every day. The
key is getting those guys that aren't playing healthy and
making sure your pitching staff is rare and ready to go.
When POSTSEEDUS starts, you would literally have to miss team buses.
The way that the rest of the division to two
not win this division is uh for Justin Verlander.
Speaker 6 (17:06):
He's allowed four plus runs in every start but one
since returning from the IL. Cincinnati gave up five earned runs,
Philadelphia four, Boston two earned runs. Right before the injury,
he gave up four runs versus LA and then versus
Saint Louis four earned runs. All of those starts four
and a third, five, five, five and five innings pitched.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
He has yet to pitch into the sixth inning in
any start. Yeah, Cage awesome, I get it, and a
phenomenal baseball player and incredible pitcher. But and I guess maybe,
but it's not like you say, Okay, do this in
the postseason. This is the best pitcher of all time.
(17:47):
He looks. Listen, I trust him, but I'm not sure
you can pitch him in front of Hunter Brown from
bra Valdez who went seven plus again. Damn what no
hit ball? If I'm not mistaken and Brown and Kakuchi
right now, I don't know how you can as much
as the name right and right today. Listen, you know
(18:08):
I hold ver Verlander in the highest regard. We all
need a career like him. And I'm not talking about
three years ago, last year, or any other time. I'm
talking about right now, right now, justin Verlander. If you're
what you you can't give the Lifetime Achievement Award by performing.
The Lifetime Achievement award is not outwinging the performance right now?
Speaker 6 (18:29):
You mean the back of the baseball card right it
just can't get him in there.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Whatever if you need a spots, but right now, your
first three, how can you just if they do run
him out, what's the reason? Because you trust That's exactly
and I and I get it, and you'd imagine he'll elevate.
But right now, if like I said, if you had
three guys, let's say Kakuchi, Verlander and Renelle Blanco Leaf,
(18:54):
Hunter Brown and from are out of this one, because
it's a no brainer. Those two, those two are getting
two of the three that they're two of your what
four starters in the postseason. I'll tell you this, so
start there now. Give me Kokuchi Verlander asks Kakuchi Verlander,
renew Blanco for your third start. Game is on the line.
You got to win this, to win the to win
(19:14):
the series. Who's pitching for me? Yes? Of those three
right now? Cakuchi, Verlander or Blanco. I don't think it's close.
I mean, I'm going with it. That's not close right now,
right right now. And if he has one of those
five inning starts.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Short, it's short in the playoffs anyways.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Not only that, in a game, I got a guy
like Verlander who can do whatever you need to do
when all hands are on deck, I have no problem
calling on him. Then A for right now, you're even
thinking as a four starter in the postseason? Is it him?
Speaker 8 (19:43):
Now?
Speaker 2 (19:43):
If you're up to to one up three h three zero. Yeah,
that's that I'm just saying now, And it may change
in the next three weeks. But for now, performance says
the left hander from Toronto has to be in there,
just has to.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
Yeah, he was unbelievable over the weekend. Right again, he's
pitched extremely well. Every game they've they've they've every game
he started. The Astros have one. Right, And if you're
a golfer and you uh, first of all, scottis chef
a stupid Do you see a good money he's won
this year? Yes, it's unfreaking believe. Twenty five mil for
(20:17):
that one just for the FedEx. Yeah, a couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Ago when he when he finished third in the top
five and the BMW was last week he finished like
twenty something. The one before that, the Saint Jude, he
like fourth played, made like nine hundred or a million bucks.
That's like, oh yeah, twenty five million for the win,
second place, twelve and a half. The last play thirtieth
got five and a half, I mean five hundred and
(20:39):
fifty grand to finish thirtieth, the second guy made. So
there were putts down the stretch that guys that missed him.
It's like a four three million dollar putt and guys
was missing him. But incredible. But if you ever were
an amateurs and I've hit shots like that, the greatest
player in the world, you you were, I know you
were on a trip. Probably didn't see it. I watched
every wing over the week of that tournament, especially on
(21:03):
the final round. Yeah, this dude on a green side bunker, dude,
he was killing. He was up seven strokes in a
matter of twenty minutes, down to two strokes. I'm talking about,
went haywire. It went haywire, didn't I see? He was
like twenty six under at one point I ended up
he was like thirty under to win, thirty or thirty
one to thirty under under win with strokes he went.
He started the day with seven stroke lead. It came
(21:25):
down to two in a matter of twenty minutes. Colin
Markus shooting hitting balls, shooting balls. I'm talking about firing
at the flagstick. He gets in a green side bunker, dude,
and he hit a shot. If I'm facing you like
I am now sideways out of the bunker, that went
and rolled down there, took to the bunker at forty
five degrees and it rolled back down the ferry. Then
(21:45):
he chipped up about twenty five feet short and then
he has to go to the next I'm talking about
the wheels are falling off two hundred and twenty five
yard par three hits a four iron to three feet
and the rest was you know how many when you're
going through your head like I just did a shot?
Did every forty handicapper in the world hits this? Dude
goes back from two hundred twenty five yards and pumps
(22:06):
it a four iron to three feet. His next shot
into the flagstick with a pitching which to five feet, birdie, birdie,
and then the rest was history. So he goes seven
down to two and then buries the field. After you
look at him, the look on his face like, oh
here we frigging go twenty five million later, there's a
reason he's the best player in the world. Yeah, to
(22:26):
get out of his head quickly. But he if you
felt if you felt bad about your golf game, the
best player in the world could hit sideways. But on
talk about off the hozzle, dude, it went straight right yeah,
And you're like, and then it ended up behind him
further than the shot he had before then. And then
he kind of hits a heavy chip and then goes
four iron from two twenty five to three feet and
(22:47):
you're like, Okay, he ain't bad man, He'll do it
a pinch.
Speaker 6 (22:50):
What a year for Scotti Scheffler all the tournament wins
twenty five mil, seven wins and a gold medal, seven wins,
a gold medal, a green jacket, and an orange jumpsuit,
all in the same year.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Baby, and had enough to pay bail. He's spent a
night or he's spent a couple hours in the clank. Yeah,
and I got another said, do you know that behindside
from their salary and pan travel? You know what the
big house, right? You know what the normal tip is
for a caddy unless it's changed ten percent of the win.
(23:21):
His caddy's more wealthy than about one hundred and fifty
players on tour sick. Now, think what Ted's making his
caddy sick. If that's the case on twenty five million,
that's two and a half million dollar bonus.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
I think he may.
Speaker 6 (23:31):
I think I read something last night that he's he's
won over or not one. The caddy has made over
six million dollars just this year.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Okay, now not counting. Does that before this win this weekend?
Speaker 6 (23:44):
Yeah, it's with it because total earnings this year for
Scotti Scheffer's over sixty million.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
There's ten percent, there's six million. Huh, what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Yeah, when somebody says this, hey, oh you got to
carry clips, that's a that's a rich man's job. Now
I do a good guy, I do care, I will, Hell.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
Yeah I do.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
And that's not counting. Also, you know, you get you
get salary and stuff going in and I'm sure he's
flying private with Scotty and all that to make it
easy on him. But why wouldn't you pay him? Those
guys relationship, the trust they have each other.
Speaker 6 (24:15):
We saw crazy with that book and everything else, all
the mathematics that come with play yardage and everything, the.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Trust you have to have. It's good to be Scotty
Schffler's caddy, which you never do is don't screw that
one up. Yeah, his three year run has been epic.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
It's been insane.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
This year is just if you were questioning who the
player of the years because and has been there.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
Yeah, it was gootta be Scotty Schefler.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Foot on the throat this past weekend, Yeah, unbelievable.
Speaker 9 (24:36):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
Speaking of foot on the throat, what about what about
a foot on a shin? Does that make sense?
Speaker 5 (24:42):
No?
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Probably not foot on a shin? Yeah, it works. A
ball on a shin does what about a ball on
a sin. Yeah, well go figure better to have balls
on the chi, I mean on the shin than on
your chin. Yeah, you don't want to get hit with
the fastball in the chin.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
No, you sure don't.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
You don't want to goe hit with the fastball the
chick because that's dangerous.
Speaker 7 (25:00):
Right.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
You tell me a ball off your shin, huh? Or
a fastball off your Yeah? Yeah, I'm gonna take it
off the shin, I guess, yeah, off the chin.
Speaker 6 (25:09):
Because no, no, no, no, no, not the shin, off
the shin. Yack, Hey, shocker, Kyle Tucker actually fractured his shin.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Let's talk about it. Oh you mean to tell me
it wasn't just a bruise. No, Oh, Doctor Salisbury, here
we go, Doctor Liliva. Hey, by the way, curt of Propane,
if you want to paint your house, you want to
look good. Happy painting is sort of pro painting. Happy painting,
Each and every sort of pro business is individually owned
and operated. Go to certapro dot com to get your
(25:36):
free estimate, and it's expensive down a home and curt
of Pro has been my partner for years now, and
I'm so grateful for them, because I feel like I'm family.
They come into my home. They did the interior, next
tier of a new home. You imagine how much you
trust a painter when you got the new home and
then you moved into it. All of a sudden, there
and they're painting already. Couldn't be happier. Efficient job done right,
(25:59):
Ninja s where they go in, get it done, boom gone. Hell,
my dogs didn't even know they were there. They were
so efficient. That's a good thing. And they'll do it
right and quality. If it's not done right, they'll be back,
but rarely have to make that second visit because they
work into my house. They did it with perfection. Sirt
of Pro Painters. They are the official painting partner not
only of the Houston Astros, but of friends of mine
(26:19):
and of my home. And you'd be wise to at
least have them come in and check yours out if
you want it done right. In tier x tiar. It's
expensive to own one own a home or own a business,
so why not bring in the best to make sure
you get the full value from that home and that
great paint job. And they treat you like family. It's
a good thing. Sirt of pro painters sort of with
the Sea. It's sort of pro sort of pro payers,
(26:40):
sort of with the Sea certapro dot com for your
free estimate, sort of pro. That's happy painting.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
The Sean Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 6 (26:52):
So random, I think coming into into the off dates today,
they had played eighteen or nineteen straight and dude, you
appreciate baseball, and yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Yeah, good for them, And I know that was a
rough one in what Sincy yesterday. Yeah, and uh and
pretty awesome Uh weekend though, it was nice for them
to take care of their business all weekend long against
a good think what they did. They just hung in there,
you know, play good series against Baltimore, what beat them?
What five of six of eight to five of eight
times five seven times? Yeah, five three to five seven,
(27:25):
took care of I mean, going to Philadelphia and had
their you know, competitive let's put it that way. And
then you you hammer you along this. You've hammered the
Red Sox, You've hammered the I mean you hung in
there in Baltimore and Philly and then you smoked a
playoff team in Kansas City and Cincinnati. It's not choped
Liver do good baseball team.
Speaker 6 (27:46):
So there you go, seven three two five seven its
get out to the phone lines.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
Talk to Tom Tom, good.
Speaker 10 (27:51):
Morning, Good morning guys. I hope your weekend was without labor.
Good to have your bath on a Tuesday morning. And
I want to tip my hat. I want to get
this out of the way as the first caller. I
would have war in another direction if I come on
second or third, but let's just just finish. Genre tip
my hat to Joey Chefs now eighty three hot dogs.
(28:14):
I don't know how he does it. He said he
trained for eighty How do you train for eighty hot dogs?
Speaker 2 (28:20):
What do you do?
Speaker 10 (28:21):
Rode down a couple of dozen and say, I'm good,
I'll get this. It's just amazing the phone could eat
that many hot dogs. Now, don't get me wrong, I've
sat up in the corporate boxes. I've kicked the ki
back a couple you know what I'm talking about, and
washed him down with a couple of hot dogs. So
I've been there at eighty three. And how about KOBEIOSI?
(28:42):
I understand he tapped out at seventy two. Nobody told
Joey though, and he just kept on going. So I
got to tip my hat to that guy, and I'm
glad I got it out of the way. Now, I
want to throw something out about the Astros, and you
know I've been talking about what they've done and how
important I want the fans to know what the team
(29:03):
has done. Let's look at the Phillies, the Dodgers, the
Guardians and the other two. Ye know, the Yankees in Baltimore.
Where would they be? Would they be forty nine and
thirty without Judge and Santandre and Otani?
Speaker 11 (29:22):
Where would they be?
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Now?
Speaker 10 (29:24):
Maybe they would have done as well as the ass
but it just makes you look at what they've done
and appreciate, regardless of what happens with this team the
rest of the way, I just wanted to throw that out.
I don't know if either one of you guys understand
what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (29:42):
I'm sure you do.
Speaker 10 (29:44):
But again, if I can just.
Speaker 11 (29:46):
Do one more shout out.
Speaker 10 (29:48):
I don't know a lot about college football, but I
want to ship my hat to Bill O'Brien. He's want
to know.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
Got to give him credit.
Speaker 11 (29:55):
I mean, the guy. He had his problems here and
we know what they were.
Speaker 10 (30:00):
Legion, I won't talk about it, so I appreciate the guy.
Speaker 12 (30:03):
You know.
Speaker 10 (30:05):
Congratulations. I hope he has a good season. And that's
all I got. Man, I got a little.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
Indigestion, So I'm gonna let you go now hanging there, Uh,
just go grab yourself some little acid reflux message. There
you go, a little private echo TC. Maybe Tom, thanks brother,
no doubt. I don't know how anybody can even stomach
no pun intended, eighty plus hot dogs, let alone eight. Yeah,
they did that special on Netflix over the weekend. That's
(30:32):
how's he healthy?
Speaker 4 (30:33):
I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
It's crazy, God bless it. But yeah, Kobeashi only seventy two. Yeah,
he wasn't even close to riding, right, So good for
Joey Chess. That's a machine. They didn't even they didn't
even let them dip it in water. Yeah, usually like
Scotty Cheffler. He's the best in the world, right, Yeah,
and what he does, it's nice to be the best
in the world. It's something, right, and he's right that
the ask.
Speaker 9 (30:51):
No.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
I don't believe that without Judge or Soto that the
Yankees have a shot. I don't believe without Ramiro's Cleveland's
is where they are imagine taking bomb or bomb excuse
me and Harper out of the lineup. I mean, yeah,
it's fascinating. Now they're gonna have to finish this up.
(31:11):
But and if they do, you're looking at a possible
executive of the year pulling out the Kakuchi thing, and
you're looking at a possible manager of the year. We've
we've discussed that as far as Bill O'Brien goes, Bill
Obrian admitted being the GM was probably a mistake right
in no uncertain terms. If Bill O'Brien would have just
stayed coaching football and learned to Bill O'Brien probably needs
a little more self deprecation when he was here. Maybe
(31:34):
he's learned a valuable lesson. If Bill O'Brien was just
a football coach, I'm telling you now, Bill O'Brien's held
in high regard around football as an a as a
hell of an x's and o's guy. His problem was
he got too much power and utilized it and applied
it with a sledgehammer and it didn't work. But as
a key was going to be the offensive coordinator Ohio
(31:54):
State and was there for what hours literally a days
and then turn around and Boston College head coach left
to go coach in Green Bay as an assistant coach,
kind of like Chip Kelly leaving and going from UCLA
as a head coach to go be a coordinator. Well
he leaves, Bill gets that job. He's from that area.
He's a Northeast guy, and Boston College is well, not
the most impressive win of the weekend, it's sure as
(32:15):
hell was one of them. And they went into Tallahassee
and flipped them the middle finger and kicked their ass
physically in their home in front of their friends and family.
And Bill O'Brien can coach football. Bill obrian's problems were
not Kenny coach Ex's no, hell, they want four divisions here.
Bill O'Brien's problem was the power was too much for
him to handle, and he abused it. And I don't
(32:37):
mean abused people, but abused the power of And what
happens when you abuse the power, meaning you don't focus
on what brought you there and what brought him here,
good football coach, and then the leadership gets skewed and
you know, you know, the the abusive powers. Not I
don't mean people. It's just said, oh I got this,
I want more, I want more. If he had just
(32:57):
you know, been a shoulder to shoulder with a GM
and ownership and players and coach football. Bill O'Brien may
still be the coach here, but all that got out
of hand. And you know what, second chances are important
and he's got more than well, he's been a coordinator.
Get what an Alabama? And so if you're tell me
Alabama and Ohio State want him, He've been a head
coach at Penn State, won four divisions here. You don't
(33:20):
think people hold him in high regard. They do. The
problem is be like Bill going there and being the
AD and the head coach. Don't do it. Yeah, just
coach football. That's what you That's what your job is.
Put a coaching uniform on, get out of the coat
and time business as a GM and go do what
you did. His team was ready to play. Yeah, and
they out coach and out executed Florida State. Out physical
the hell out of Florida State. All right, let's get
(33:41):
to break. We'll get back talking to astros next. Let
spots talk seven to eighty.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
You're back.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show. Get back at it, Roger,
what's happening?
Speaker 5 (33:54):
Oh, good morning, gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Walking out to do it.
Speaker 5 (33:57):
Bro, That's all good. Hey.
Speaker 13 (33:59):
So when we when we spoke last, we were talking
about what a what a three game winning stick looked like.
And I said, uh, and I said, uh, any combination
of uh of.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
Uh, come on, Roy, let's come on baby, long weekend,
long weekend.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
Let's get on the right track.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
What we got. Calm down, you, calm down, man down.
Speaker 14 (34:28):
So any combination of Hunter Brown, Farmber and you said
Kakucci was in there.
Speaker 13 (34:32):
I said, bloco. But uh, you know, you've got to
understand the politicket. The politicket hopefully doesn't doesn't last too long.
These games really start to matter, like in the playoffs.
So I'm just.
Speaker 14 (34:44):
Asking, do you think this, uh, this very land of
the situation is gonna disturb this you know, this amazing
flourishing Astro's pitching ecosystem, because uh, we're really gonna need
to know who are startings were pretty soon going into
this maybe after this, uh this series with with the
Cincinnati Reds. And yeah, we all knew that mister Dana
(35:07):
Brown was insulting our intelligence with that uh with that
that ship confusion or a fracture, and we knew it
wasn't approved. That's just totally you know, just playing with
our playing with our you know, you know minds like hey,
you know it's just a Bruce just there's no way.
Speaker 5 (35:23):
It was just approuveed anyway.
Speaker 7 (35:25):
Fellas.
Speaker 13 (35:25):
Congratulations, aren't you Trojan John?
Speaker 2 (35:28):
That's wut the Yeah, that was huge man win and.
Speaker 14 (35:33):
Yeah, lots of meat on the ball from here and
now out you know with the with the sports thing.
Speaker 5 (35:38):
No more dog days anymore.
Speaker 7 (35:39):
And uh it's did a great time. We appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
Great stuff. Thanks brother. Yeah, I I would start couch
for Erlander right now, even though I trust Erlander.
Speaker 6 (35:50):
I just mean that five game series, al ds, he's
gonna get a start your three, Oh yeah, he will
get a start.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
But I'm just telling you what if you're going I
just performance based right now.
Speaker 6 (36:01):
I think I saw over over the weekend. Was it
Dana Brown or Joe spot It. Eventually they're going to
go back to a five manned rotation and they're gonna
put Renal Blanco in the bullpen.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
As they should, so as they should, and then rolling
into the playoffs. As of right now, if they go
into the Alds, because I think I saw a projection
as well that they would have to play in the Wildcard,
then the Alds if you go into the wild card.
I don't think Verlander's Verlander is not your one or
two starter. Your game one starter is fromer game two
(36:35):
starters Hunter Brown. Yeah. Period.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
And then if you have a game three in the
wildcard whatever.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
Can decide between Kuchi and Verlander depending on matchups, right,
or have them both ready just deciding which one is
better to get you through five and then the other. Well,
then you're going through your normal Bullen bullpen stuff. Now
if it's an early exit, but we haven't seen it.
Kokuchi exit in inning too yet, so it's uh, here's
(37:01):
what it's a good problem to have that. Oh, if
you're gonna have to relate that that, oh we're going
to Erlander, well that ain't a bad choice. No, that's
a that's a good guy to have, right, I'm just
talking about strictly performance based right now. It's not And
I'm so glad we are validated that that's a big
deal about Kyle Tucker. Yeah, I don't know many bruises.
(37:23):
I'm sure it's happened that last three months. We're three
months now to the day today day. Yeah, the third yep,
three months so and with his bregman injury, better get
his ass to first base.
Speaker 6 (37:37):
Why why couldn't they just come out and say, hey,
by the way, he fractured his shin. I have no
idea because if we talked about this when it first happened,
as you continue to go on and he's not doing
anything baseball related, they're not telling us anything more than
(37:58):
it's just a bone bruise. There were people out there
that were questioning his toughness, and as you can so
as an organization, you continue to tell us, oh, it's
just a bone bruise, just a bone bruise.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
Well, then why the hell's he not playing?
Speaker 6 (38:13):
Then you have people saying, ah, bone bruises can take
longer than fracture, so forth and so on. It's like, dude,
as soon as you figured it out, just say, hey,
by the way, Kyle Tucker did indeed sustain a shin fracture.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Oh can makes sense, which we already knew.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
The whole thing is weird, man. For whatever reason.
Speaker 6 (38:31):
And again, major League teams don't owe us a damn
thing when it comes to injuries and telling us. Some
teams do it more than others. But the way that
the Astros handle their quote unquote injury report or lack thereof,
is just weird to me. It's just weird. Discomfort here,
discomfort there, and then oh, by the way, it's.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
Just a bone bruise. Oh wait, he did have a
fracture of his shin.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
Oh okay, especially when in the end you're gonna have
mean so you didn't just wake up three months later
and decided it was a fracture, right, New Week two,
it was a fraction, right, I mean, instead of us
doubting him, let's bring it together, say listen, he's gonna
it's a fraction. We're just gonna work through it. It's
weird because a bone Bruce had us all wondering how
long is it? We started questioning it two weeks, two weeks, right,
(39:16):
and we're three months.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
In, yeah, three months to the day.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
It's it's an odd approach by them on the injury thing,
and so you just better get used to it, because
if that's the case, you're you're you're just not gonna know.
But like with Bregman, his elbows obviously more hurts more
than you think it does. He's just a he's a
tough competitor, hurts more than you think it does, and
to miss four more games, don't you think it flared
(39:41):
up playing the field.
Speaker 6 (39:42):
Playing third base right to the point now where he
said over the weekend, it hurts more to swing than
it does to throw.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
So why was he playing third base?
Speaker 2 (39:52):
Didn't we say be preventative measures? Because one throw me
when you're trying to turn one over in a double
play or throw out, you know, arm angle wise, and
you never know. And then all of a sudden, now
it affects him dhing and playing first base. Yeah, now
he hasn't played. Let's se Yeah, thank goodness, they're six
in front. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (40:11):
Going to the seven o'clock hour, we will talk about
Alex Bregman and his elbow injury next to Wilso. Continue
to take your phone call. Seven one three, two point

There to usc truths. Longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
Brian Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salsbury Show.
Speaker 6 (42:22):
What a weekend it was in sports, Tons of actions,
Scotti Scheffler winning the FedEx. He's won a bunch of
money this year. All kinds of stuff going on over
the long holiday weekend. Hope everyone had a safe and
relaxing weekend for Labor Day seven one, three, two, five,
seven nine. He got the phone lines jammed up. Let's
(42:44):
let's be crisp here so we can get everybody in.
I know a lot of people have been on hole.
Let's start with al Al, Good morning.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
Good morning, guys. How are we doing?
Speaker 4 (42:52):
Fantastic brother, how was your weekend?
Speaker 2 (42:54):
Oh it was great, man.
Speaker 15 (42:56):
I My seats at at Kyle Field were directly above
the tunnel, so I got to see my my, my
Notre Dame team come out the tunnel.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
It was awesome, awesome.
Speaker 15 (43:09):
And we got we gotta win and Sean SC gotta win.
And the last game of the season, Notre Dame in
USC Sean, I hope we're both undefeated and it's a memorable.
Speaker 2 (43:23):
Game and that would be great. And we got with
the coliseum this year, I think, and that's uh, that's
gonna be hopefully. I mean, it's a long way to go,
but both teams, for different reasons, showed incredible resilience and
had one hell of a weekend. Notre Dame secondary and
defense is really good. And Miller Moss at SC and
he makes some grown assmanth and he's tough, one hundred
(43:43):
year old lever leather. It was fun to watch man,
both of them. There was some some good things that happened.
So I'm looking forward to that too. And I'm glad
you got to see your Irish in person. Brother. It
was great. I was I shed a tear. I really did.
Speaker 7 (43:57):
It was.
Speaker 2 (43:57):
It was a lot of fun.
Speaker 15 (43:58):
And my, my buddy, he made it a great, great
day there. We went there for the whole day and
hung out and just.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
Uh, it was. It was a lot of fun. Notre dame.
If it makes a grown man cry, and I mean
this affectionately, I think that's a good thing. That tells
me how much you've loved this team and wanted to
see them for a lot of years. And good on you,
and good on your buddy man. That's awesome news, yes, sir.
Speaker 15 (44:19):
And the other thing I wanted to say was yesterday's
Astros game. I don't wanna I don't want a bad
mount a spota. He's done a great job, really, he's
gotten this back to where we are. But I really
thought that he could have put a stop to that yesterday.
He went out there, he went out to the mound
(44:41):
with the with the thought of taking Verlander out of
the game, and he let Verlander talk him into leaving
him in. And then the next thing he does gives
up two more runs and we're behind the eight ball again.
And I really thought that it had he taken Verlander
out when he went out there, that we we would
have still had a chance to win that game. But
(45:03):
you know, it happens. I guess, and I thought it
was a poor decision. But we'll get him back tonight.
We'll get him back tonight.
Speaker 16 (45:12):
So I'm gonna let.
Speaker 2 (45:13):
You guys go. You guys have a great day. Love
your show.
Speaker 15 (45:17):
Sean, we'll talk again before before we before we play.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
All along, We'll talk many times before.
Speaker 15 (45:23):
Hal.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed your time and got yourself
a victory. Good for you. Hell stuck, Steve, Steve, good morning, Hey,
Sean and Brian.
Speaker 16 (45:34):
I watched the l s U USC game, and this,
this question is out of respect for Sean because then
I'm sure he was for USC because this is all
a matter and he's a quarterback and I really respect
his opinion. But if the goal of every game should
be to win, I think that should be the.
Speaker 2 (45:50):
Goal, right, I'd like to hope. So yeah, I mean
I think that's yeah. I think that's pretty obvious.
Speaker 16 (45:57):
So out of ignorant, I didn't I only I didn't
watch the game. I came in. I see this guy's
got three hundred yards. It's second seven with a minute
fifty seven, that left they're losing them by three. They
need if you'll goal to tie, which shouldn't be the goal.
Your goal was to win, and it shouldn't. Every time
(46:18):
I watched the Brady six where Kurt Warner's saying, hey,
a guy in college, you can be ten yards ahead.
But in the Pros one, he's talking about Brady, you know,
threading a needle. And I'm going, every time I watch
a game like this, and I didn't watch the game,
but when I come in, there's two minutes left and
(46:38):
the guy is throttling for three hundred yards and then
he throws on second down, and the time goes, and
then they missed, and they missed, and they tie, and
I'm going, they should have a video, Sean, you should
do the video of never pass on second in college.
I'm not talking about pros in college. You should never
pass on second, third down when you have two minutes left,
get the clock down and and and you should go
(47:01):
win the game, not tie the game. And it seems
like that was why Kelly.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
Lit Steve usually watch the last two you're talking about
you you're talking about LSUS side of the ball, correct, right, Okay,
Well here's let me let me ask you this, You're
you're okay, think about what you're telling me. You're saying
you should never first of all as a quarterback, and
respectfully because I you know, we love having you on.
I couldn't disagree more, especially second third down. The best
(47:26):
the best player on your offense if you do it right,
and the extension of the run game can be the
short passing game. So I can't be because if I'm
just throwing inside of two minutes, out outside of two
minutes and running every time on second third down two minutes.
Defenses aren't stupid. They study tape, say they're afraid to
throw it on second third down, and you'll put nine
guys in the boxing you have no shots. So I
disagree with that. And yes, you play to win, but
(47:48):
you also if you if you don't complete. And obviously
they were playing to win because they threw it, so
they weren't playing for a tie. They're playing to win.
Missed it and kick the field goal and then they
couldn't get off the field, and and Miller Moss was
out of his mind on the last drive making great
throws and then stupid penalties by LSU. So I disagree
with that, and you're saying you shouldn't throw it, but
you should play to win. I mean, by just constantly
(48:11):
running on second third all the time, are you really
playing to win? So no, I disagree NFL, high school, college, pop,
Warner Street football, fraternity, beer league football. If it's second too,
and you think you got a shot in the defense
and your study tells you they like to play a
man coverage on second down and four or less, then
(48:33):
you run a pick play and you get it. The
other guys didn't hand it off. The other guys went
down and made a whole shot throw. I mean they
were throwing it to get him out there, and then
they oki doped him with a run instead of set
up to win the field to play for a field goal.
They came with an inside run and scored, so they
didn't have to bring the kicker on the field did
the trojan. So now I don't subscribe to playing playing
(48:54):
scared inside of two minutes. I subscribe to kicking you
right and your you know what and going for the
throat and you just got to do it smart. And
SE's the most impressive thing about SE's game, aside from
the quarterback, was the way SE's defense played physical, which
they have and they couldn't spell physical the last two
years on defense, and they were more physical than LSU
(49:16):
for the most part. But the key is LSU made
some stupid penalties and Miller, Moss and nuss s Meyer
played good games. They just couldn't stop them defensively down
the stretch and sc made more plays than they did.
That's just the facts. More key plays on tough throws.
Thank you, right, thanks, Yeah, I know where Steve's going. Yeah,
(49:37):
but if you're just handing it off in second third,
you're really playing to win. Now, if they're playing off
off and you can run it on second, their go
for it. But to me, I think they tried to
win it and they just didn't execute it. And SE's
defense played better, and then Miller Moss on that drive
was phenomenal.
Speaker 4 (49:53):
It's pretty damn good.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
I'm gonna tell you, he's a better on schedule thrower
than Caleb Williams was Caleb Willims overall games, first pick
of the draft. I'm not saying Miller and it's one game,
I'm not gonna oh my gosh, look at he's arrived.
But now he's played two games and he's completing like
damn near eighty percent of has through last year's bowl
game and this one. This kid can throw it. And
you saw his command of what they're trying to do.
(50:16):
Lincoln Riley got himself some good defense, played led and
they looked different. There was a different feel in my
soul for USC. Now they are long ways away from Georgia. Brother,
they are long ways away from some of these other teams. Hell,
LSU's not done. I assure Younus Smyer can play. But
Brian Kelly probably needs to tone it down a little
bit too. He's well, he's got some bill O Brian
in him. Yeah, you know when it comes to the abrasiveness, Yeah,
(50:39):
I saw it. I like Brian a lot, but dude,
after they.
Speaker 6 (50:41):
Lost, I saw a lot on social media of like
Notre Dame fans saying we tried to tell you LSU
fans whatever, to take that whatever it's worth.
Speaker 2 (50:51):
But he Brian has controlling his emotions sometimes.
Speaker 6 (50:56):
Yeah, And I've got the audio saved for us to
listen to at some point point during the show when
we talked strictly college football.
Speaker 4 (51:02):
But my gosh, man, like.
Speaker 2 (51:03):
Like, why are we mad though? When a coach gets pissed.
Why why is it? Why is he allowed to pound
the table once in a while? Why why is that bad? Now?
He takes blame too. He heard him say in the
in the clip, our coach, I got a coach better, right.
He took blame for him, he said, I got to
be better.
Speaker 5 (51:17):
Right.
Speaker 6 (51:18):
But I guess where I'm standing is, dude, you're getting
paid a lot of money, like be prepared.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
If he'd gone better, do better, there's no quote that part.
For sure. They were out coached and outplayed. But when
a guy gets frustrated or gets like abrasive or something
like that, when a player doesn't you know, we do.
Guy wants to win. I'm not defending Brian Kelly. There's
some things about Brian Kelly that he's carried around with
him for a while. Ye ask anywhere he's been, right,
(51:44):
But the guy does no football.
Speaker 5 (51:46):
It just it.
Speaker 2 (51:47):
And you know what he was outperformed, Yeah, he was
out got him simple and his team see teams part
of coaching, that's part of it. Not allowing coaching staff.
Speaker 4 (51:59):
Yes, but isn't it what we've seen from Brian Kelly.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
Regga stage can't ever win a big type game Week
one Las Vegas taken on USC.
Speaker 4 (52:07):
A lot of hype around it.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
Well, he hasn't won a week at South Coach hasn'ton
a Week one game yet at LSU.
Speaker 4 (52:11):
I don't think No So gets out coached.
Speaker 2 (52:14):
Yeah so, but they're not going away. No, but it
was he ran into a quarterback who's throwing it on
time and a defense. The key is SE's defense looked different.
Speaker 6 (52:22):
They looked different. Yeah, there's no question about it. Let's
get to the steak out next right here on sports
Stock seven.
Speaker 17 (52:26):
Ninety back to the Seawan Salisbury Show. All right, Sean,
what are you hearing out there now?
Speaker 3 (52:38):
The Salsbury's takeout, sALS Burrif takeout on the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Stave of the steak out Here on the Sean Salisbury Show,
Sean Brown and Tripley astros off today.
Speaker 4 (53:01):
They swept the Royals over the weekend.
Speaker 6 (53:02):
They lost to the Reds yesterday Texas and I'm losing
an Notre Dame University of Houston falling to un LV.
Week one of the NFL is here. Seven seven NINEY
is the number to join Rob. Good morning, Triple If
you don't I got a bad connection on that in
(53:23):
triple if you could uh see if Rob and give
us a shower back, Bonnie Joe, welcome in.
Speaker 12 (53:28):
Oh hey, I'm sorry, I had on speaker I'm driving.
Speaker 18 (53:32):
Is that okay?
Speaker 2 (53:34):
It sure is? You're okay, we can hear you here.
Speaker 5 (53:37):
I took it off.
Speaker 12 (53:38):
I'm sorry. Okay. For first, congratulations Sean on the u
USC win.
Speaker 4 (53:44):
That was a great game.
Speaker 12 (53:45):
We were worried because we have direct TV, so we
had to scramble to find a.
Speaker 5 (53:49):
Way to watch it.
Speaker 7 (53:50):
But we we watched.
Speaker 12 (53:51):
The whole game.
Speaker 2 (53:51):
Thank you, An win.
Speaker 12 (53:54):
Yes it was and it was a good win. And
then Brian condolences on Soul Ross losing to West Texas.
Speaker 4 (54:02):
A and M really, I appreciate that. Thank you. Yeah,
it's tough.
Speaker 12 (54:06):
But what I'm calling about and I'll make it super quick.
So Bill O'Brien at Boston College. For whatever reason, I've
always loved Boston College, watching them play for decades. And
I have no idea why. I have no affinity, no
ties to them. I've just always enjoyed their you know,
their play and how they play as a team. But
(54:28):
when I'm found out Bill O'Brien was the coach, it
kind of soured me because I did. I don't want
I don't really have never cared for him. I didn't
like him when anyway, just something about his he seemed
real arrogant. A'll you know, when he was the head
coach of the Texans, and he seemed like he always
thought he was better than he was. But but he
(54:49):
didn't seem that way last night. He seemed a little different.
And it was good to see Boston College win that game.
And Bill and I don't know, I haven't heard him
in any interviews. He may be the same that he
seemed a little different to me watching him on the
sideline and whatever. But that's all I really wanted to say.
And I hope you guys had a great Labor Day weekend.
(55:10):
And I'll hang up and let other callers get in.
Speaker 2 (55:13):
Thank you, Bonnie, Joe, appreciate you. Be safe and you're
more than welcome to put us on speaker. That's okay.
We appreciate the insight, and thank you for the compliment.
I'll tell you this, lessons can be learned along the way.
Just because he you know, didn't in the way he
wanted it to hear with him, all of us here
in Houston. Doesn't mean he can't coach, and he was abrasive,
and I think that a lot of people felt like
Bonnie Joe did right, I do, But you can revitalize
(55:37):
yourself and reinvent yourself from from mistakes made, you know.
And Bill Brian's a good family guy and the rest
of he just he didn't handle the coaching and GM
deal together. He didn't that. But do you know what,
how many guys have been like that? He just was
more abrasive. He's you know what, I don't mean this mean,
but there's a different East coast of and if you
bring that ambrasiveness here, it's we're in the South. That's
(55:58):
a little different, right. It just is down Boston is abrasiveness.
I mean, it's imperfect. It does. And that's not a
knock on them, but they just it's just it's like DNA,
you know what I mean. And that's okay, But depending
on it'd be like a gu guy wearing a cowboy
hat waltzon into Boston trying to it's like whoa whoa
whoa whoa dude? Bum Phillips is coach and my patriots.
You get my points? So with that, but you can,
(56:20):
and I'm gonna tell you a sign of maturity when
he going pride. Finally, you say I'm gonna do something different.
He's not calling his own place. You know what I'm saying.
You go there and you want to reprove that you're
the guy. You've been a coordinator, head coach. He's turned
it over to other because his offense and defense are
in the hands of somebody else. He's just a head
coach now, which is important. But leadership and understanding delegate.
(56:41):
Trust him. If you're going to hire a coordinator, let
us ask coach and Bill O'Brien's It appears early on
that he's allowing his guys to do it at Boston College,
and I actually think he's home a little. He may
be an NFL guy, but really you started to know
who Bill O'Brien was, Not if Tom Brady's guy, but
when he took over the Penn State head coach job
after they were all the no the pit during the
(57:04):
went on, he didn't know there and he had a
Now listen, when he applied leadership there, look what happened. Hell,
you never saw the quarterback there, the big kid that
it was that had his best year. Ever at Penn State.
Why am I losing my mind? You know who I'm
talking about. Yeah, And when I look it up, that
was amazed. If he left, If he left for the NFL,
then he'd been a first round draft pick after his
freshman year. Couldn't leave. So, Bonnie Joe, I think Bill,
(57:27):
maybe he has learned a lesson that you know what
I'm coaching, but there's there's other things and other people
that I can help nurture and get them to do
the right thing too, and let me focus on and
Bill had some things. Bill needed to be a better leader.
And maybe at Boston College there's a comfort level for him. Man,
what does that kid's mean? It'll come to me. It'll
(57:47):
come to a big, strong, right handed throat, not real
actorate wasn't it'll play for the Jets. And but he
had his best season when Bill O'Brien was his coach,
and he never got better and Bill did a good
job with him. So, Bonnie Joe, it's a very very
astute by you to see that. And I think what
he's done is allowing his guys to do their thing
with there's a comfort level, and you could tell there
(58:08):
was more not just camaraderie, but they seemed like they
were all on the same page, and they did it
with aggressiveness. To Matt McGloin, No, it wasn't mcgloy. No,
big tall kid about six five sixty six. He was
the top recruited freshman they've had, maybe since Todd, but
I mean, you'll know he's put two thousand there.
Speaker 4 (58:24):
He was there twenty twelve.
Speaker 2 (58:26):
Bill was all right, look at the starting quarterback. Wasn't McGloin,
it was somebody else. Yeah, it's coming up as mcloin.
Speaker 19 (58:33):
Well.
Speaker 2 (58:34):
Then then the year before he had whoever, whatever it was,
it was, it was the big tall, top recruit six
' five kid, that big old wind up. Let me
see when you say it. Oh yeah, here it is.
Excuse me, Christian Hacken Hackenberg.
Speaker 7 (58:49):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
Yeah, that was the guy.
Speaker 7 (58:51):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (58:51):
He had his best season under Bill. I believe he
was a freshman. Yeah, so it you know, you can learn. Hell,
a lot of guys go through it and struggle and
you find out about yourself. And maybe Bill's faut out
about himself. Having coached with Nick Saban was gonna be
Ohio State's offensive coordinator. Humble pie kicks in too now so,
and you wouldn't keep hiring him if you didn't think
(59:12):
he knew exras and o's Yeah, and being the head coach,
he's delegated some of that authority and it's a good thing.
Speaker 6 (59:17):
Stalk to Brandon before we gets a break. Brandon, welcome in.
Speaker 1 (59:20):
Good morning, Brian, Good morning, John.
Speaker 19 (59:22):
How you guys have.
Speaker 1 (59:25):
Weekend?
Speaker 2 (59:26):
Very nice? Thank you? Good morning. It was really nice.
I had to get away over the weekend. Had what
you had? A good weekend? Yeah? Good, that's nice. What's up?
Speaker 1 (59:38):
Sunday?
Speaker 11 (59:39):
We bought out the brooms three casey out of town.
Speaker 1 (59:46):
What'd you think about that?
Speaker 6 (59:48):
We loved it? Fantastic and they lost yesterday? Off today
you excited for tomorrow?
Speaker 3 (59:54):
I am good Brandon.
Speaker 4 (59:57):
We got to get the break, buddy, thanks for calling.
Speaker 1 (59:59):
Have a good day.
Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
Broke out the brim and swept their ass out of here.
So I'm talking about and a good team. Remember last
year round this it was a little later than this.
Kansas City put it on us and they're building sure
did hear us? Meaning the Astros and made them have
to play a little more under pressure down to stretch.
So there you go.
Speaker 6 (01:00:18):
All right, let's get the break, we're going to talk
about the astros rotation while so continue to take your
call seven two five seven ninety right here on sportslock seven.
Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
Ay hey, sort of pro painters, my guy Dale curt
of pro what. I'm so happy to be a part
of it and stay friends with the people. I love
building relationships and long term relationships with the people I
get a chance to stand side by side and speak for.
But more importantly, they they're always welcoming my home because
they make my home look better. They increase the value.
So if you're selling your home, if you're keeping your home,
(01:00:46):
why wouldn't you want it to be as as presentable
as it's ever been? And a good paint job exterior
interior can help whether it's your business or your home.
Plus kind of it's it's kind of nice to look at.
And who doesn't have a little pride when friends come
over and say who did this? I'd like to take
credit for being a di wire, but can't take that credit.
Couldn't do what they did. And cert of Pro painters
sort of with a see certapro dot com for your
(01:01:08):
free estimate. And each and every sort of pro business
is individually owned and operated they live where you live.
They got localness, They've got the ability to come in
there and make sure they do it right for you
and efficient. Who doesn't like localness and who doesn't like
a sense of pride for the people they know where
It's not just a stampy and move you on. It's
just another paint job. That's not the way they look
(01:01:29):
at it. They're the official painting partner of the Houston Astros.
They paint happy and they want you to have that
feeling with them. It's sertapro dot com for your free
estimate again, the official painting partner of the Houston Astros.
And you know who they are, sort of with the see.
I am a customer first and couldn't be more happy.
Give it a try if you're thinking about it, don't
think any longer. Go to certapro dot com and get
(01:01:49):
this done. Sort of pro sort of pro painter, sort
of with the see sort of pro painting happy and
we're bout.
Speaker 3 (01:01:56):
The Sean Salisbury show continues.
Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
Rolling in there. They know the wrath of what happens
to you if you try that.
Speaker 6 (01:02:03):
Well, I mean you've been known to have your trunk
left on blocks right here. Yeah, right, and that's dead
asss like we're not even choking. I drove that's a fact.
I drove it home like Fred Flintstone just ran down
the middle of the inter state on the ten.
Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
Yeah yeah, over to the UH, over to the one ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:02:22):
Three, fourteen FM fourteen sixty three. I got nine and
the six flip upside down. That's all right, I got you.
I got you.
Speaker 4 (01:02:30):
It's trying to recover, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:02:32):
Yeah, you don't want any part of the main streets, dude,
So just recognize. But if you ever do, make sure
you make sure I've come along with you. I don't
want you rolling up in there and getting hurt. Yeah,
like to preserve your health. Thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:02:45):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:45):
Got you.
Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
Yeah, just a big ringo, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
Yep? Good morning, Yeah, hold on you go.
Speaker 6 (01:02:51):
Seven three two two five seven ninety Rob, what's going on?
Let's go ahead and turn that radio down the background
for U, buddy.
Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
All right, let's here, Yeah, recovery. You don't want anything.
Sounds good, it'd be right great. Rob wants to be
on the radio and turn of the radio now, we'd
love to have him. He's got about three more seconds.
Speaker 5 (01:03:11):
Make sure came on with you. I don't want you
to roll over there and get hurt.
Speaker 7 (01:03:14):
Rob.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
We got to put him on hold. This is bad radio, God, Rob,
What do we do with Rob's oh for t today?
We tried that, Rob, We got you tomorrow. But Gabe
having a tough morning this morning. Where do you go, guys?
Speaker 5 (01:03:26):
Gabe, Hey, guys.
Speaker 20 (01:03:29):
A couple of comments. And I listened to Bonnie Joe.
I totally agree with her. And then I don't know
if you recall Steve Spurrier's reaction after he left the
NFL and went back to college coaching, and uh, I think.
Speaker 11 (01:03:44):
The quote was what did you learn in the NFL?
Speaker 20 (01:03:48):
And he said, I learned that coaches that lose try
just as hard as code to sort of trying to win. So, uh,
maybe maybe Bill has found his home again.
Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
Yep.
Speaker 20 (01:03:58):
But the other, the other comment I want to make
this morning, I was listening to your assessment of the
pitching staff for the Astros, and I didn't hear you
guys say anything about Arraghetty. So I'm gonna get off
and hear your time in on that.
Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
I well, we've been we talked about him at nauseum
last week, but it's bears repeating Gabe, I still the
three right now. I think you'd have to go fromber
you would, you would probably because Lefty and the way
he's doing it. Fromber, well, we'll put it this way.
Fromer and Hunter Brown to me or no brainer at
(01:04:33):
the top. Agreed, yes, And we didn't leave Spencer a
for any reason. I put Spencer Araghedty in before. I'll
put Renel Blanco in right now because it feels like
Spencer Araghetty is getting stronger down the stretch and Renel
Blanco's laboring more. Although listen, if you don't put respect
on Renel Blanco's name after what he's done this year,
and he deserved an All Star bid. He was he
(01:04:54):
was a straw, the stop gap and it wasn't fake.
This dude's been and you know what he's just done.
It just kind of case. He's labored the whole time.
I mean when I say labored, he's put his time
in the whole time. It's been a little more grinding
a labor this this one. But when you discover yourself
at thirty, meaning as a pitcher, I couldn't be more
(01:05:14):
proud of it. And you're right. The reason why, because
I'm not sure right now I would put when you
go out and make a trade for a lefty who's
overpowering and has that and and in defense of arraghetti
his swing and miss is gone. It seems like every
single start we see better better. I still wouldn't put
him in the top three. But right today, if you're saying, okay,
(01:05:35):
fourth performance alone, yeah, he's pitching better than your You're
you're aging veteran who's a Hall of Famer. But the question,
but think about put yourself in a manager's situation of
the entire organization. There's that there's that mental thought of
Verlanders scene at a million times. So that's where the trust is.
(01:05:58):
And he's performed, he's had some good moments in the postseason,
and he's had some were people have questioned, well, we
need more wins at him, right or you know that
type of thing. But no, no, no, we're not leaving Ragedy out.
We have constantly said we just didn't put him in
this because I don't think if you had three, if
you only had three starters in the postseason, I don't
think Arragety would be a I don't think they put
(01:06:19):
him in ahead of Verlander or Kakuchi. No, they wouldn't,
but his performance warrants being one of those guys. That's
my point. So Gabe makes a great point, we're not
leaving him out. I think the guy's toughness and grind
this year, and he's gotten better. You're supposed to go
the other way this late as a rookie pitcher, You're
supposed to get tired. You know the Doc Goodins when
he was pitched as a rookie, Fernando Valenzuela's that's just
(01:06:41):
not normal schemes. That's not normal, right, What is the
normal is hitting the wall as a rookie pitcher. I
think he's gone the other way. So I think he
feels like he's getting stronger. So yeah, no, I'm leaving
him out. He is. He has not just made the
argument he is solidified of the five starters next year.
(01:07:02):
You he's one of them. Oh yeah, he's already proven that. Plus,
unlike some of the guys that are hurt, he stays healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:07:09):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
So I'm all, I'm all, I'm all in on er Getty.
I just don't know if you'd put him out there
in your first three in the postseason, right, now, no,
you don't. And plus you also want to validate what
you did to go get Kokuchi, right, Don't don't think
that that doesn't come into play, the validation of we
got him and he's pitched, well, we got we gotta
run him out there, because you see the swing and
(01:07:29):
miss he's capable of.
Speaker 4 (01:07:31):
It's third time to charm for Robbie.
Speaker 2 (01:07:32):
What do you think let's let's see thank you to
take enter at your own risk. Rob good morning.
Speaker 5 (01:07:40):
Tell me y'all can hear me?
Speaker 4 (01:07:41):
We got you?
Speaker 5 (01:07:43):
Good lord? All right?
Speaker 18 (01:07:45):
Well, I thought I was going to strike out there
for a minute, you know, oho for two and uh,
I don't know what the last caller said, but it
sounds like they basically took exactly what I've been trying
to say for the past twenty minutes.
Speaker 21 (01:07:57):
Uh.
Speaker 18 (01:07:57):
You know when you talk about the top five and
showing to kind of go off of what you were
what I just called on the tail end of what
you were saying there. You know, my personal opinion for
from what I've seen and I hear everything that you're saying,
but you I wouldn't be able to question you going
bromber Hunter and then rag Getty because like you were saying,
you're supposed to get tired, you're supposed to get worn down,
(01:08:19):
You're supposed to be facing fatigue. Half of these guys
are all facing h more innings pitch than they've ever
thrown in their entire careers in a single season, and
areng Getty's only getting stronger, and because of the fact
that he's been here all season long, and I get
a Kakouchi's you know, he's got more tenure as a VET.
Speaker 5 (01:08:39):
But rag Getty's earned that third.
Speaker 18 (01:08:41):
Spot in a playoff rotation if you've got a five
game series coming up. I'm looking at the rest of
this season as a tryout between Blanco and as much
as I hate to say it, between Blanco and Berlander,
because I don't know which one I can trust to
get me through five innings right now, and I said
it last week, I would not be disappointed if Spota
or Brown, whoever it had to be, had a very
(01:09:03):
real talk with Verlander and said, look, we need an
extended guy that can get us multiple innings out of
the bullpen, and right now, everybody else has shown that
they're capable of getting us through five and you haven't
done it. And we don't have time. We don't have
one hundred and sixty games ahead of us anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
Now.
Speaker 18 (01:09:19):
Once playoffs start, every game really truly does count. We
talk about must win games all season long, it seems
like when it's playoff time, it really is a must
win game. And I don't care if you're forty years
old and if you've got multiple Cy Young's and multiple
no hitters.
Speaker 5 (01:09:33):
What matters that day is that game.
Speaker 18 (01:09:36):
And if his past three outings he hasn't shown me
that he can get past five innings without throwing a
hundred pitches and potentially blowing out his arm again, I'm
not gonna start him.
Speaker 5 (01:09:45):
I just can't.
Speaker 18 (01:09:45):
I'm gonna trust the five or the four or first
that have and Blanco's the only other question mark in
that mix.
Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
I rob Gregruf, I third time base hit double in
the gap. Great point. I'm with you. If you're going
by lifetime achievement award, Verlander is gonna be one of them.
If you're going by performance, Verlander and Renel Blanco, Renel
Laboring been a great year. Blanco and Verlander our bullpen.
(01:10:13):
They just are because Aragedtty has been lights out and
if he runs into a tough game. You have those
guys who can start games and give you four and
five innings if you need to. And I just part
of it, Rob, I think that comes into it. If
you're gonna go Arraghedtty three and a guy like Cocucci
four or Cocucci four should I say? But I do
(01:10:34):
think the part of it comes into play. Look what
we gave up. He's a veteran, he's a lefty. Let's
see if we get the matchups that there is that
part of validation towards Look what he's done. They have
not lost the game still that he's pitched in, and
he gave his best performance last his last start. So
it's six and one a half dozen in the other
(01:10:55):
depending on matchups. But Verlander can't be one of those
first four guys if you're going by what they're doing
right now, he just can't be. And that's no disrespect
to him, that's just fact.
Speaker 6 (01:11:05):
No, that's that's the fact. That's what we've seen production wise.
Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
But do you really think they'd have the guts to
move him to the bullpen? No, I'm not saying they're gutless,
but the guts to look at him and say we're
not gonna start you. No, there's no I don't. I
don't think so either.
Speaker 4 (01:11:17):
There's no way.
Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
And do they have the guts to run him out there? Second?
Speaker 4 (01:11:23):
No, I think it'll be okay, guts to.
Speaker 2 (01:11:24):
Run him out second. What's gonna take more guts to
run him behind from ur in the postseason or stick
him in a bullpen? Stick him in the bullpen? Could
you imagine that Justin Verland or the bullpen?
Speaker 4 (01:11:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:11:38):
Good?
Speaker 4 (01:11:38):
Like having that conversation, Joe Spotta.
Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
It ain't uncomfortable. But I do believe is a pro
Verlander would may badly and give you resistance, But I
think he'd buy in whatever it took. I do. But
you're gonna have a hard time convincing a veteran like that. Yeah,
because he knows he'll he feels like he'll elevate. I
believe that. Can you believe that we're having this discussion
we're talking about Justin Verlander. He's a future Hall of
Famer at some point? Though, Dude, when does it get it? When? When?
(01:12:04):
When does it? When? Do you need the plug in
and the gas bowl? Right? You know what I'm saying? Yeah,
we'll see.
Speaker 6 (01:12:10):
Yeah, let's keep on talking about this discussion seven one
three seven hinty next.
Speaker 2 (01:12:14):
Men's t Clinic, Men's TA clinic dot com. Ten years.
They've been doing it in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, five
convenient locations here, guys. Let's just put it to your plane. Simple.

midway through the day, when you're in the sheets at
night with mama, when you're going to your kids games
on the weekend, in your own stuff, your weekend warrior stuff.
(01:12:36):
What are you feeling sluggish? Is there a brain fog?
Is there? You're you're just not feeling motivated to do
what you'd normally done. You see, I used to be
like that in the past. Well, first off, you're like,
manam I okay, Well, let's go eliminate if it's testosterone
or not. And if it is low testosterone and it's
not just sexual wellness, full body walllet's head to toe
So you can kind of start to focus in and say, okay,
(01:12:57):
my testosteron's low. Let me go get a shot, non invasive,
Let's draw a little blood and get started on the
part of normalizing it gets you had a lower gear.
Who doesn't want heading into the fall, whether it's going

you needed it over the summer, well that's on you
been telling you, So don't wait till the end of

Insurance obviously available. Pop on in and get this thing going.
So twenty twenty four and twenty twenty five are awesome.
Men's TA Clinic dot com or ninety seven to two
go Men's Tea.
Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
This is the Sean Salisbury show. Salesbury.
Speaker 22 (01:13:59):
That's dutiful.
Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
When our teacher, uh, mister Jones, that's what Jones named you,
Pepe because Juan Sean right in the classroom. Yeah, John
called him one. So I want to go, Sean, We're
gonna call you Pepe. Yeah, I said, Okay, I'm a
pepe Pepe. So they don't call you salz and Esco.
They call you Pepe at school in that street on
(01:14:23):
the streets, yeah, yeah, departmentalized man. Once I leave schools. Yeah,
and then the sound streets yeah yeah, oh yeah, got it? Okay,
maybe sense yeah, stay the course here, uh Russian for
three years in college? Did you really what they called
you in the Russia class? The man? No, I'm gonna
(01:14:44):
call you flat Vladimir, Vladimir, good luck. I don't want to.
Speaker 6 (01:14:52):
I don't want to say anyth about Russia because the're
probably listening right now.
Speaker 2 (01:14:55):
So you know, yeah, free radio. I don't want to
find you sprawled out over all over springs. Okay, it's
all about great they are, right. Do you love Van Drago?
Speaker 6 (01:15:08):
Yeah? Seven seven ninety. Well you think people want to
talk about justin Ferlander? Oh my goodness, let's go, got
the full uh kit caboodle. A lot of people want
to get in triple You got the buzzer ready, here
we go.
Speaker 4 (01:15:23):
Let's be crisp. Let's be crisp. Call good morning.
Speaker 11 (01:15:28):
Well, I'm gonna let both barrels blast here, okay, boys.
And another thing, I'm gonna teach you your first words
of Spanish.
Speaker 16 (01:15:35):
That's the way though.
Speaker 23 (01:15:36):
It is good.
Speaker 11 (01:15:37):
Okay. But anyway, and I haven't heard my Texas tornado,
so I hope you'll find them dinetto play that one.
But anyway, back to Erlander, here's you remember that. I
like Sean's assessment of a while back. You said about
the baseball cards. You know everything that's yesterday's news, man,
it ain't today's news. Let's go do a little quick
(01:15:58):
little review. You remember Tampa Bay when we all we
needed we went down there, we opened up the Houston
Erlanders started. They blew him, knocked his jockey in the
Crawford boxes. Okay, they couldn't. Just still looking for it,
the sweepers. Then Garrett Cole. The next night they knocked
him out. Fastball guys. Then we went down there to
(01:16:19):
Florida with our junk pitchers and they couldn't hit a
junk ball. So what did the coach do? He started
burl under back in Houston, and next night, Garrett Cold
they bought. They knocked us out. All we needed was
one out two. Okay, he hasn't been winning games this year. Man,
he's losing, losing, losing, it says reputation. Okay, we were
on a roll here, man. We don't need to lose
(01:16:40):
to the Cincinnati rents. My god, where they next to last?
Come on, boys, let's go with the guys that have
been bringing us through the whole season.
Speaker 4 (01:16:48):
Arregetty, Kukushi and God to keep it flowing. Dwayne, good morning, Hey.
Speaker 24 (01:16:55):
Guys, we all all these pitchers not just think about
this year, but we're talking about playoff rotation and vert Lader.
I mean to me that that that's not that's a
dope brainer. We got the youngsters, that's good. Do we
rely on the youngsters? But think about this next year.
(01:17:17):
Do we want Tucker or do you want stronger or
do you want to keep vert Lader and complicate things?
Speaker 4 (01:17:24):
Thank you, Dwayne m h.
Speaker 2 (01:17:27):
And true. If you know what are you talking about?
If you want Fromber and the order would go Tucker
Fromber or Fromber Tucker? It's Tucker is your best all
around player? Correct, Now, Yourn's your best hitter? Right of
those three Verlanders the one out I've been out. Yeah,
it just is. And that's listen, we don't need to
(01:17:48):
qualify this. I think we all know how we hold
justin Verlander. At some point you just got to recognize
that while he'd go and hopefully gets the three on
wins and still here and gets to get it here,
at some point you got to realize, while you were
a number one in an ACE for a long time,
you may be the fifth guy. Because I can tell
you this today, if the decisions made today fromber Hunter, Brown,
(01:18:11):
Spencer Aarraghetty, now we got to keep Kokuchi out of
you know it would be able to keep him. Those
are three no brainers. And the way Renelle Blanco's pitch,
he deserves the right to come back out and start
as one of your five. Don't know what's gonna happen
with Verlander's contract, Do not know what's going to happen
with Kokucci? Because I got news for you. Kokuchi every
time he pitches has raised his value across Major League Baseball,
(01:18:33):
A power left hander who's rediscovered his game and people
love him. This keeps up, dude, he may price himself
out of Houston, And then you got to deal with Garcia, mccullors,
Javier Franz and Jose Air Katy.
Speaker 6 (01:18:59):
At this in spring training next year, Well, it's like
you take Hoveer in Erkidi out. They won't be ready
to leave the season because latency just in twenty twenty
five is I guess my point? Yeah, because some will
be ready by spring someone, Right, You start to think
about this and you start to think, could it get
to the point with these young arms and who the
hell knows what Force Whitley's gonna bring the guy who
(01:19:20):
if this comes to fruition now and he finally discovered himself, Hell,
you got an overpowering dude too, And then all that
adversity he's been through will do nothing but help him
down the road. Because what worse could go on for
the cat injuries, weight loss, up and down, mental struggle,
physical struggle, and now dominated and triplated and comes out
and goes three strikers.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
If that's who we get, there's another name in the mix.
Because I got news for you. Force Whitley does not
want to be a bullpen guy next year. You and
I both know it. Could it get to the point
where you're saying, we don't need to sign Verlander and Kokuchi.
Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
We're good.
Speaker 6 (01:19:55):
I think everything you just said, outside of depending on
how much Kakuchi would be Verlander's not back here.
Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
I don't think so. I'm okay, I'm not even sure
you can afford it. Yeah, he's gonna want somebody, and
he's gonna keep pitching until he gets to his wins.
But where your slot name is important, and I love
the guy, but literally it's just reality. And since it's
not nothing personal. But you think about that now. And
I'm telling you, if this keeps up, Kokuchi is going
(01:20:22):
to make big bank. If the season ended today and
you're a team that needs a power left hander, you're
gonna overpay him. Well what what?
Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
What do we always talk about? What have you done
for me lately?
Speaker 6 (01:20:36):
Look at his outings outside of not getting in the
sixth inning except for this pass outing finally get into
the seventh or whatever it was.
Speaker 4 (01:20:42):
Even I mean, dude, he's been great.
Speaker 2 (01:20:44):
Dana Brown himself, my opinion, Danny Brown himself didn't expect
him to be this good. I'll bet you. I'll bet
you maybe another an a little deeper. But I'm talking
about when he's on and which has been at some
point in every start, he's been really good.
Speaker 6 (01:20:57):
I'm gonna respectfully disagree with you. I think he did. No,
that's why he went and gave up what he give me.
Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
And if I think he expected him to be good
at it, and I love you disagree all you want,
I love that is it. I think he thought he'd
be gooder, he wouldn't have pulled that trigger. Do we
really think he thought he'd be this dominant at times
win six straight with him pitching?
Speaker 4 (01:21:15):
Yeah, I do me personally.
Speaker 2 (01:21:17):
And if that's the case, that he's even a better
talent evaluator than we thought.
Speaker 6 (01:21:22):
But I thought he was a good one. I think
that's you know what, we got the trigger. Yeah, let's
let's continue the point. Yeah, let's get let's get in
the eight o'clock hour. We'll keep on discussing these astros.
Uh seven one, three, five, seven nine. He will get
to your calls as well.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
Next KD Houston KTDHD two Houston, Whart Radio Station. How
about the mask?
Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
Does the Rocket.
Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
Sports Talk seven ninety your home for your home teams
driven by that classic elite to buick GMC Studios for
the Elite car buying the experience.
Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
Houston.
Speaker 1 (01:22:03):
Okay, let's do this. Sewn Salisbury, the NFL, the to
USC Trump's longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (01:22:10):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewn Salisbury Show.
Speaker 6 (01:22:18):
Justin Verlander struggled once again yesterday. He got the loss.
UH in the five to three loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
You had Verlander going four and two thirds innings, eight hits,
five and runs, three k's walking four. He's dropped a
three and five for this season. Seven one, three, two,
(01:22:40):
one two five seven ninety is the number to join
an order of longest.
Speaker 22 (01:22:43):
Wait.
Speaker 4 (01:22:43):
Let's talk to John John good morning.
Speaker 22 (01:22:46):
Hey was gon on fellas j B j B with
first ballance Hall of Fame. UH won a lot of waws.
Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
Uh.
Speaker 22 (01:22:54):
I watched him piece of the night. He didn't not
that he lost it the way he lost he did.
He didn't look hisself. He looked like he did have
no commands of his pictures. But the most important thing feathers.
The players don't respect him no more. He don't respect
fearing nobody hosts no more. He just I mean, he
just he trying in his mind, but his body and performance.
(01:23:15):
So he to me take him out the rotation right now.
Let it be a mentah in the dug out to
the younger pitchers.
Speaker 5 (01:23:23):
That'd be good.
Speaker 22 (01:23:24):
And one question for you, Sean is a when a
great player note when it's time to give it up.
Speaker 2 (01:23:33):
And I think it's a hell of a point by you.
First off, I think who was that? Johnsonquite sayl if
we want out on the south side, call yeah, we
do know John. I knew it was John. My bad.
I got to look at the calls. Yeah here, But John,
you are one hundred percent correct, except the fact that
I think it's a little too harsh to say they
don't respect him. Maybe don't fear him right now, but
(01:23:54):
I don't think. I don't think bad starts has anything
to do with respect.
Speaker 7 (01:23:57):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:23:57):
They may say, if we're applying respect to well, his
fastball doesn't get by you anymore, so you don't respect
that he can get you out with a fastball even
when you're down oh two, Then then that's different. But
I think they have nothing but major respect for him.
I just think they're getting to him and at some
point in time, you know the other guy's good too.
And hell, Verlander may go on a three game run
(01:24:18):
here where it's off the charts, right, but we're just
talking about two date has nothing to do with what
he's done in the past. But right now performance says
he's hittable on a regular basis. But I'll tell you
when you know. And I think there's different layers of knowing.
One is you know when you just when you know
yourself you're watching tape. It's not when somebody else's evaluation
(01:24:40):
of you. It's when two things. For me, when you
don't love it anymore, where it literally does become work
even though it is a career in a job I
knew for me. I'll just speak for myself. When I
was driving home from practice one day in a spring
after ten years in a league, I thought this become
a job. I love competition, but the off seat seas
were more work than the season for me. And I'm like,
(01:25:03):
you know what, I'll give one boom and I and
right when your heart's not in it, the performance falls,
let alone, when your legs start to go, performance falls too.
In any sport, jump shooters or shoot stiff leg and
lose their legs are no longer good jump shooters. Baseball
players when they lose their legs, forget the arm or
forget your outfield ability. I can move around. If you
lose your legs and lose that pop and you're and
(01:25:24):
that lower half explosion and violence done football players. When
you lose those, you're finished. You can actually fall off,
or your arms not as strong. But if you throw
on time, you can survive it. When the legs go,
forget it. But the thing is when you're evaluating yourself
and you look and like it's almost an out of
body experience. You say I'm late with that throw, I'm not.
(01:25:45):
It doesn't come off the same. When you know that
you're no longer, you don't have to have somebody tell
you you're no longer that guy. You're a guy. That's it.
And I'll tell you when other guys know that I
have had such success like the Verlin the great ones.
When average people, when average players are better than you,
(01:26:06):
that's that's when you know. Now some want to hang
for him. He may he may say I just need
three more wins, and when he gets to two ninety seven,
he's not average Dot Miston. He's pitching average right now
or below at times, but he's not average. But there
those are the things that stick out to me that
you know, you lose your love for it, it becomes
a job. The legs go, or when you're watching and
(01:26:27):
evaluating yourself, it's not your coach that calls you, and
it's you that you're like, I'm trying to fool him now,
not saying for any of us. When you got to
fulham dazzle them with brilliance when you are or when
when you're done dazzling with brilliance, you got to bafflem
with bs. That's when you know the time is near.
It might be time to hang it up. He's not
(01:26:48):
there yet. No, no, But that's to answer John's question,
that's when you know and when you get wake up.
I used to wake it up every day off season.
But when you wake up and say, hmm, I wonder
what this broadcasting business would be like? Time to go? Yeah,
then it's yeah, time to go, time to move on.
And then you start to also realize even though justin
the older guys are hanging on longer. You start to
(01:27:08):
look around and say, the majority of these cats that
are doing this are twenty five or under. Right on
this team I'm talking about, on this pitching staff.
Speaker 5 (01:27:15):
It's like, h.
Speaker 2 (01:27:17):
I get it. But there's that party, right. It's when
it's when the eyes match the perform when you're like,
I can see it myself. I don't need somebody to
remind me. Seven seven hinty Shena, thank you for alling.
Good morning, h good morning.
Speaker 21 (01:27:32):
So yeah, I'm agreeing with everything y'all saying about playoff rotation.
Definitely from or a hunter on the top, and then
you know, it's toss up really between Kakuchi and Arraghetti.
To me, one thing I like though, is that we
do have these options to be strategic. If you look
right now at how the postseason matchup is going. We
(01:27:52):
end our season regular season with a series against the Guardians,
then right now we would be playing the Twins and
ending a win, be playing the Guardians again, who would
have a buy that first series, and they would be
playing us back to back, So being able to have
you know, that's where I could see maybe Verlander being
used if he didn't pitch against the Guardians in that
(01:28:13):
closing series and somebody had a bad outing, maybe throwing
Verlander in there with that series against the Guardians and
having that flexibility with our pitching staff because we've got
so many guys that you know, either are rolling along
great right now or have that experience.
Speaker 2 (01:28:27):
And it's a different it's a different back to back right, Yeah,
not getting the same rolling the same three guys out there.
Speaker 21 (01:28:34):
So so yeah, I think that's something that could be
used strategically, throwing Verlander in there.
Speaker 2 (01:28:39):
Great point, great point as a great tone look would say,
I went up to this girl, she said, hi, my
name is Sheena. Yeah, okay, well tone low cut for lock,
that's what you called it? Yeah, do you still think
it's tone lock? No, it's tone low? What happened that day?
Speaker 5 (01:28:57):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:28:57):
That it's not a rap?
Speaker 5 (01:28:58):
Guy?
Speaker 19 (01:29:00):
Know?
Speaker 2 (01:29:00):
The only thing about you know, let's pump the bricks.
You're just you're more, you're more into the Tuesday. Damn right.
You have completely disrespected No, no, don't you think triple A. Yeah,
you left tone on the table. I don't, I mean
I don't agree with that. No, we're talking about disrespect.
(01:29:22):
You've you've completely abandoned tone Lok. That's just at one
point time we get sheen On makes great comments every week,
a couple of times a week. I mean, at one
point ton Lok went up and said, I went up
to this girl, and you know what he said, Hi.
Speaker 4 (01:29:38):
My name is Sheena.
Speaker 6 (01:29:39):
Yeah, I would say I would say tripley bring that
cut back, but we can't say on Tuesday, So tone kicks.
Speaker 7 (01:29:49):
That would that be.
Speaker 2 (01:29:51):
Thursday, Thursday afterday Thursday? Did you just took tone Lok
the kick rocks? Basically you're telling you today you'll call
him tone lock right, yeah, tone lock as you call him?
What happened to you? Man? What do you mean made
it home? Huh? Made it home from the Dale?
Speaker 6 (01:30:12):
Actually, so in honor of Tejanod Tuesday, I would say
I would tell tone Lo patier roccasomenosmos muchachos?
Speaker 2 (01:30:25):
Why you got a dog? Tone lok Man? By the way,
don't bury the lead.
Speaker 4 (01:30:29):
What's that?
Speaker 2 (01:30:29):
That was Scottsdale?
Speaker 4 (01:30:30):
You're you're lucky I came home.
Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
You're you're you're preaching to this choir. We're sitting in
the same brother Yeah, the same church.
Speaker 6 (01:30:40):
A little little expensive for my taste, but my goodness,
was a phenomenal city.
Speaker 2 (01:30:44):
What I tell you before you got on that plane?
What did I tell you before you got on a
plane Friday?
Speaker 4 (01:30:48):
You're not gonna want to come home? How long did
it take you to call me?
Speaker 2 (01:30:52):
You landed, got off a plane and can tell you
I did two hours you text two hours after you land,
I'm thinking I'm not coming I never I'm at home.
I mean I expected to maybe talk to text me

Speaker 6 (01:31:19):
But yeah, man, I I would go half packed. Well yeah, no,

Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
I can tell you that you get Harpoll out there,
dog and little dry heat for Harpoll hurt the worst.
Uh mine, no, the two dogs. Uh it's oprah oheah yeah,
harp Yeah. You ever call her Harpoll?
Speaker 8 (01:31:40):
Right?
Speaker 6 (01:31:40):
My buddy's in college used to exactly that's Oprah spelled
backwards Tripoly.
Speaker 7 (01:31:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:31:46):
He's like, oh okay, He's like, why would you call
him harpo?
Speaker 21 (01:31:49):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:31:51):
Oh yeah?

This is the Sean Salisbury Show, Are you not?
Speaker 4 (01:33:42):
That's a time Let's us begin sadly.
Speaker 3 (01:33:46):
Now at nine percent alcohol.
Speaker 9 (01:33:48):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:33:48):
Now on Sports Talk seven ninety, let's talk to Gary.
Speaker 4 (01:33:56):
Gary, what's going on.
Speaker 8 (01:33:59):
Hey, guys, good morning, And I'm sitting here driving and
I'm just trying not to get in erect. I just
can't believe all these people that are calling, and it's unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (01:34:09):
Just a few minutes, a few minutes.
Speaker 8 (01:34:10):
A few months back, we were way down and everybody
was on the Astros, as I was too, and then
they did a miraculous turnaround. And look where they five
or six games in first place right now, and people
are freaking out over Berland Er a Hall of famer.
Speaker 5 (01:34:27):
I know he doesn't look good, but this is his
spring training.
Speaker 2 (01:34:30):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (01:34:31):
I mean, when the Astros win a few games, everybody
loves them.
Speaker 11 (01:34:34):
They lose.
Speaker 5 (01:34:36):
If they won ten in a row, people love them.
Speaker 8 (01:34:38):
They lose one game, and all these bandwagon fans that
keep calling this show and freaking out about one guy, please,
oh please, enjoy the trip, enjoy the journey, don't worry
about the destination. We'll get there how we get there.
But here's my take on Berland.
Speaker 2 (01:34:54):
Before we give a take real quick, let me ask
you one question about that. When you said it and
I know where you're going, and I love your passionate
about this, But when you say this is his spring training,
you are one hundred percent correct. Does this organization have
time to wait for a guy to get through spring
training right now?
Speaker 5 (01:35:09):
Well, sure they do. Look at the the five pictures
coming behind me. But that's the people.
Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
But that's the people's point. Let me ask you this.
You're the manager. Playoffs start tomorrow, The spring playoffs start tomorrow.
When are you running him out there? Let's say it's
a seven game series. You made it through the first round.
Tell me when you're running him out there currently with
the production not saying I think everybody loves Verlander and
want him to be what we're talking about, you tell me,
as the manager when we're in that. Now, we're in
(01:35:35):
a series, and you got to make the decision who
you pitch. I don't think people are saying Verlander's not
he's struggling right now. But I don't think they're saying
he's a hack. I think they're saying, okay, what's best
today performance wise, and he is a Hall of famer.
Who would you start him in your first three?
Speaker 8 (01:35:52):
Okay, here's what I would do and you do have
people telling him to quit, and he's no good anymore,
so that.
Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
Those people are here, those those people are that's irrational.
That's your rast.
Speaker 8 (01:36:02):
Yeah, what I would do because he pitched yesterday, so
he's got to get his rest. I put him number four.
But here's what I predict pre fixing to happen. He
is so good and knows he's working on things right now.
He's not trying to go out there and be his
best because he knows he can't. He's working on certain items.
His fastball will be ninety four, ninety five, ninety six,
ninety seven as he go, as he pitches more pitch.
(01:36:27):
But but you got to give him a little time
and let him work on what he knows he needs
to work on. He's so intelligent. And here is what
I'm I'm going to tell you my prediction. And we're
all doing predictions because we can't see the future. He
depending on when he pitches last. At the end of
the season, when they make the playoffs, he in my opinion,
will be either the first or second starter with him
(01:36:50):
in Valdez, one of the two will be the first
or second starter because of.
Speaker 5 (01:36:54):
His experience and good he's gonna be.
Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
That's what I That's what I say. That's why I
preface this by saying, we don't three three starts from now,
he could be locked in, and it changes the whole
landscape of how you're feeling. What a good problem to have.
I think we've discussed today. Of course, if he goes
on a roll and looks like Justin Verlander, did we know?
Speaker 19 (01:37:15):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:37:15):
I don't think anybody has an issue with that the experience.
But I don't think you can just start somebody. Okay,
what if it stays the same. What if his performance
he's working on stuff, but as he's working and tinkering,
it still doesn't get him to where his results are
what we want. Are you making the same decision you'd
make that you say is gonna happen. What if that
doesn't happen, If the result is still the same in
(01:37:36):
his next three starts, will you think would you look difference? Okay?
I think that's why we're saying currently we'll we'll reevaluate
in three more starts. I get that, but today, there's
no way you're running him out there in your first
three starters, is there?
Speaker 21 (01:37:51):
No?
Speaker 8 (01:37:51):
You can't do that and it's been going if it's
a three game series or a four game series.
Speaker 2 (01:37:55):
Okay, guys, great show, great stuff, Gary, thank you. And
I think that people, I think that we've tried to
make that fairly clear that yeah, it's today, not because
three starts from now. Verlander's going Verlander, dude, and he's
been tinkering to get around I have any problem with it. Yeah,
I'm just saying today, and that's why we're not playing
the playoffs today. So he still got time to work
on it. But while he's tinkering, wins are still going
to matter, right, still gonna matter.
Speaker 4 (01:38:17):
Yeah, get to Ben, Ben, good morning, good morning.
Speaker 19 (01:38:21):
Hey, the Austras have been winning. I'm feeling great. I'm
not worried, but you can't win them all. But yesterday, man,
like they tried to bunt five or six times, and
in the entire five game win streak, I only think
your Don tried to lay down a bunt once and
then he went for the homer twice later that day.
So I think they they're bumping way too much into out.
(01:38:45):
You're losing by three, you really try to bunch a
runner from first to second and the eight inny, like
my father in law thinks that they don't bunt enough.
Speaker 3 (01:38:54):
So it is a constant putting battle.
Speaker 19 (01:38:55):
Between us, and we got to run around second and third.
Diaz is up to that with less than two outs,
and he's trying to tell me that he needs the punt.
I'm like, Diz has the most sacksflies on the team. Like,
you try to put the ball in play, maybe at
a homer, maybe find some grass. Worst case it's a
stack fly, which is an out, but a bunt would
be an out. He's like, a bun's not going to
(01:39:16):
be an out anyway. I love when you get a
surprise bunch on the team, Like I love it feels
like you pulled one over on them. But I just
feel like yesterday was too much.
Speaker 6 (01:39:28):
Thank you, ben Uh. This is the most that I
have seen the Astros bunt in a very long time.
I mean the they bunt very often. Well here lately,
What did.
Speaker 2 (01:39:39):
Dana Brown tell us if you were going to win game,
what would you rather do sustain? Now? You want power,
But if you said, what's going to win in the
postseason and what's going to sustain you longer? The home
run is swinging basically the power or small what did
he say small ball? Seems like they're trying to apply
it a little more. Think so, yep, I think so
that helps you. They'd send those two to one three
(01:40:00):
one type game. So we need to move run over
and get a clutch blue base hit right or a
sacrifice fly.
Speaker 4 (01:40:04):
Yeah, I'm not bunting on your diz though.
Speaker 2 (01:40:06):
Well I know he squares around a bunt. I'm gonna
I'm throwing all the bats from the dugout out there
like a manager who gets mad and disrupting it. So
he pulls that thing back and steps out of the
batter's pot.
Speaker 4 (01:40:18):
We're not bunting.
Speaker 6 (01:40:19):
No, Jake Myers, maybe Chad McCormick, maybe Peyne even can
drop one down. You're on Bregman and then of course
we know what al TV does. But any of those guys,
John Singleton ain't happening. That's a cuss word for yards.
Don't want Jason.
Speaker 4 (01:40:32):
We're not doing it.
Speaker 2 (01:40:33):
There you go, Ben Gamble. But the truth is, while
losing that energy of low praffito, Yeah, Ben Gammon, production wise,
you got the energy and a better player this year.
I'm talking about production this year right now. I think
here in this building, low Trafito is doing good things,
and I think he's gonna be great, but at least
you hope he is. For his sake. Uh. If low
(01:40:56):
Berfito was here right now and you saw these same results,
who's playing more? Uh? You got to put Ben Gamble
or lower Feet on the line of who you start.
Ben Gamble, me, who are you? I don't think it's
a no brainer. Now three years from I don't know. Yeah,
I'm talking about today. Like I said, I'm always talking
about today, because you know what, I have zero idea
with next today, today, today, tomorrow, for today, tomorrow via today,
(01:41:22):
give me Ben Gamble right now. So but I think
that you know, three years from now, lower Feet are
two years from it would be a fixture. Ben Gamble's
staking his claim, brother, and I like it.
Speaker 6 (01:41:33):
And you know, not to be confused with another chance
with uh, not to be confused, I mean not to
mention that Kyle Tucker looks like he's gonna make his
return because he did, in in fact have a broken shinbone.
Ben Gamble, I would play him as much as I
can down the stretch.
Speaker 2 (01:41:47):
It's just a refracture.
Speaker 6 (01:41:49):
Yeah, It's just a fracture, all right, seven, one, three, two,
two five seven ninety is the number to join.
Speaker 4 (01:41:55):
We got to talk some college football now today.
Speaker 2 (01:42:02):
Why'd you do that to me? Let's go to break today.
Speaker 3 (01:42:06):
I had out there for the Seawan Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 2 (01:42:12):
Dave, good morning, Hey, good morning, Goud, good morning.
Speaker 25 (01:42:16):
Good to be back in the SATH with y'all. Y'all
are always a nice breath of fresh air. He just
picking up on the last segment real quick. I got
in a little bit late. But hey, maybe the butt
game the small ball, I mean, I think we could
all we could all agreed that the Astros have a
problem leaving the bases loaded a lot of runners and
you know, in scorn position, and maybe that's what the
(01:42:38):
spot is trying to do. Maybe small ball not leave
as many runners stranded. But I'll hang up and listen
to you guys. Man, y'all have a great day.
Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
Thank you, Dave. I listen. I don't have a problem
with small ball at all. I actually think that in
the past it's been under us and we've kind of
disregarded it. Yeah, moving a guy, Oh the stuff you
learned when you were in what fourth grade? Fifth grade?
Speaker 12 (01:42:59):
Mo?
Speaker 2 (01:43:00):
Guy over priority yep, and we've relied so much with
launch angle and apex of a baseball and hitting home runs,
which are all fine and dandy. But talk to any
great pitcher, and you know what they hate the most.
A guy who puts the ball in play. They can
get your your swinging this guy power hitter out. They'll
(01:43:20):
all tell you that the good ones rather face a
guy who just makes you work at the pleck of
Bregman who just wears your ass out when he's going right,
or you know the Gwinns, the Rod Cruz, who's the
current guy Arise, You know those kind of guys who
are just who always they stress a picture out because
it's just a grind man at bats even when they're
(01:43:41):
not swinging the bat. Those small ball guys who put
the ball in play hit for high average. Now, if
you're doing what judges doing, Rotan he's doing, hitting home runs,
hitting for doing all that, well, the whole different world
you're now you're facing the full gauntlet of superstardom. But
I it's who's hitting. Who's playing small ball?
Speaker 5 (01:43:58):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:43:58):
I don't mean small ball hitting ball the way for
base hit or lifting a fly ball, but bunting. I
have zero issue with bunting in the right situation. I
do listen when you're not bunting, guess what people want.
But we had a bunch more and when you are bunting,
why are we taking about Addie d Is that it's
who's bunting. At no time in the history of mankind
am I ever letting your non Alvarez or Yano da
square around a butt hitting where they're hitting in the
(01:44:20):
three or four Now, even a guy like Bregman probably not,
but he knows how to work the strike zone. I
understand certain guys who might even give you a better
chance to get him on whether you're laying a drag
bunt down or you're sacrificing. But I think it's who's
doing it right and where they're doing it. But I
don't have a problem with small Ball. I'm with him
a hundred percent. Give him the right moment, I'm all
(01:44:41):
about it. I agreed, Hey, tenth inning guy on second base,
and you've got a bat control guy at the plate,
why wouldn't you try to move him the third Now,
if you've got a back into a guy who can
slap one of the right side and get him there
anyway for a sacrifice fly fine, but if you got
to the problem is we don't have many good butters.
Speaker 4 (01:45:00):
They don't work on lost Art Man, they don't work
on it.
Speaker 2 (01:45:03):
It's like saying, hey man, I'm really good teeter green,
but I haven't practiced putting for four years. The chances
are you're not gonna be able to read a green
and you're not gonna know the difference between uphill, downhill,
what's into the slope and what isn't into the green? Right,
same thing again in practice. It's really hard to do
something you don't practice, and very few guys make that
a point of emphasis all year long.
Speaker 4 (01:45:23):
Lost Art Yep, biscuit, welcome in.
Speaker 9 (01:45:27):
Hey, Sean, you know who was the king of the
small ball? They guy toward number fourteen with the reds.
Speaker 2 (01:45:33):
Oh yeah, he was, and it didn't matter where it was.
He could play small ball into a hula hoop all
over the field.
Speaker 20 (01:45:41):
He talking about king of the small ball.
Speaker 9 (01:45:43):
Now I came in late. Man, tell me, hey, I
didn't hear this right out right, little but you didn't
do another Matt Cole king with no. I didn't know
that didn't happen.
Speaker 11 (01:45:54):
Did you know?
Speaker 2 (01:45:55):
Did you not hear the original. No, he didn't. Did
you ever hear when he put tone loak in there? Originally?
You didn't hear that, did you?
Speaker 12 (01:46:00):
No? I did it.
Speaker 10 (01:46:01):
I didn't hear that.
Speaker 2 (01:46:03):
It was about a year ago, Brod. Yeah, I'm saying
we were talking about that funky Cole Madina about the dinner.
I said, you know who sings it? And I gonta know?
I said, well, deep low voice, I said tone and
he looked it up like he got those figures.
Speaker 4 (01:46:17):
He goes tone lock, Oh no, look until I hear
the tape biscuit.
Speaker 2 (01:46:24):
It didn't happen. Okay, okay, it didn't happen.
Speaker 7 (01:46:28):
It might have happened.
Speaker 9 (01:46:29):
But speaking of Arizona shot, I was out at the
super We know, I told you used always go through
the Super Bowl.
Speaker 24 (01:46:37):
We out there.
Speaker 9 (01:46:38):
I think it was the Patriots and the Giants when
they were playing the.
Speaker 2 (01:46:42):
Two thousand, two thousand and eight Super Bowl. Yeah, yeah,
Phoenix man.
Speaker 9 (01:46:48):
They had outdoor confident against him, a bit old tote
load man he hung out.
Speaker 5 (01:46:52):
With and everything.
Speaker 2 (01:46:53):
I liked it. That was cool, that's awesome.
Speaker 9 (01:46:56):
My question is, and here's the thing.
Speaker 11 (01:46:59):
Shout what happened, and it'd be one.
Speaker 9 (01:47:01):
Thing if berlander falls off the map, or if he
straightens up and flies right. But what if he one
game he could one game he bad, one game he could. Now,
who don't make the call?
Speaker 23 (01:47:11):
Shine?
Speaker 2 (01:47:12):
Is it the strata?
Speaker 9 (01:47:14):
Is it the GM or is he We have to
go up the crane and say, hey man, we got
some dudes that do a little better than you. No disrespect,
because you got.
Speaker 5 (01:47:21):
To deal with it.
Speaker 9 (01:47:22):
He go, Man, I don't that man, this is gonna
be this is gonna be touching Sean if you don't.
If he's up and down and one game he could,
one game he bad.
Speaker 2 (01:47:30):
Hey, Risky, you know what Joe Spot is praying for
for him to dominate. He said, God, give me eight three, Yeah,
give me eighty five pitches where you're like six two
thirds of dominant baseball. So I don't have to make
that decision because you're right. The respect of a veteran,
the Lifetime Achievement award, knowing who he is, and he's
a fiery competitor, which I love everything about him. But
(01:47:53):
I can tell you this, it's got to be one.
I mean, now you'll go and talk to Dana Brown
and Jim Crane. But the man who needs to address him.
Has got to be his manager, that's the conversation. Because
he's around him every day. That's his that's his responsibility.
You guys, go talk, get a feel for where he is.
I think in the overall scheme of things, while he
may battle to be in that rota, and I don't
blame him that, I want him to fight about it
(01:48:14):
in a good way. But I also think if a
game right down to it and he said no, we
got a movie there, and maybe Verlaine says, okay, let's
see how this goes in the first series, I think
he would agree to it just because he's a pro.
But you know, damn well, there'll be resistance. I wouldn't
want to make the decision. Thank goodness, we don't have to.
Hopefully it will be an easy one and he'll pitch
his ass off the last what how many starts? He
got about three more something like that. Maybe we're middle
(01:48:36):
twenty three starts left, maybe if you go six manager
tight three or maybe maybe four. So yeah, it's got
to be. But don't you think if I'm going and
somebody who's making a decision in a quarterback and like
you're battling back and forth. It's it's the playoffs. You
both have had good regular seas.
Speaker 22 (01:48:51):
You go in.
Speaker 2 (01:48:51):
One guy's banged up, came back, played well, and he say, damn,
you go to the coach. I ain't walking upstairs to
a frigging general manager. I ain't going to the owner.
I'm talking to the guy who makes the decisions, my coordinator,
my quarterback coach, and then the head coach. What are
we doing. We're having that conversation. I'm not delegating that
to anybody. That's the manager's responsibility to make that too.
(01:49:11):
After they've made the decision as a team. Then you
go and have that conversation, and hell, invite Verlander in.
It may be a moot point because he'll pitch his
ass off. We're not there yet, but if we're making
the decision today, the decision would be fairly easy performance wise,
but not with the lifetime Achievement award.
Speaker 9 (01:49:28):
And we know in who Verlander's been, well, you hope
he would he would accept the role shots, Oh yeah,
he would gives.
Speaker 2 (01:49:39):
You ain't lying. It's not a gimme, and I would.
I would expect then hope he gives resistance. I want
that just like I want a receiver who demands the ball,
give me the ball, who thinks he's always open. I
would be bummed at Verlanders said, yeah, I'm not any good.
Of course he's good, but I want resistance. But resistance
that says, Okay, I got this, And I think forty
plus years into it, you'd probably have. He made forty
(01:50:00):
years into his life, but you know, this twenty year
type career. I think he'd probably say, what can I do?
You don't want the fall out from being a guy,
since I ain't going to the bullpen, just like the
guy who's not coming off the bench, who was that
uh was it Pippin who wouldn't come off the bench?
Set him back down and Tony Kuk coach buries the jumper.
Speaker 5 (01:50:19):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:50:19):
So yeah, I think Verlander would accept it, But we're
ways away. I'm anxious to see his next three or
four starts and see the depth of it and see
his stuff, to see how easy or difficult this decision
will be.
Speaker 9 (01:50:30):
On Joe Spota, Yes, sir, well, lima man, Come on, man,
you gotta be better than that man.
Speaker 6 (01:50:36):
So hold on, hold on, Oh wow, just biscuit, hear
me out real quick. So I mispronounced uh tone Loak's
name correct, and you're holding me accountable for that, Yes, sir, okay,
it's Joe as Spota, not Joe Estrada.
Speaker 2 (01:50:52):
Whoa did he say?
Speaker 5 (01:50:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:50:55):
Yeah, you called him Astrada. You called him a strata
like Eric Strada. Now you called him a stra of
like Eric Constrata from from Chips Dog.
Speaker 2 (01:51:02):
Great Show by a lot of great Hair to Astrada,
great hair. Yeah, so he did call him, did call
him strata. That's all right, Well, that was all right,
It happens, right, Hey, I know is this if I
ever get into a boxing match, I want a Strata
versus tone Lock Cole in there too. That yeah yeah, yeah,
(01:51:29):
good k really good comeback by you, yeah man. And
then you played the Chips card, which you ain't ever
seen Chips the day and they used to watch Chips
all day. Yeah, like I was like eight years old,
but still I was watching a little blonde, little dark
hair would watch you know those days, basic white dude
and the streets probably right.
Speaker 6 (01:51:47):
Pretty much when I was you'd stay home from school
like an elementary when.
Speaker 2 (01:51:52):
You were fake, like you were sick. We just want
to stay home and play like with your armyment or something.
Speaker 6 (01:51:55):
Oh yeah, I would watch like the first three episodes
of Sports Center back when you know they had good,
good broadcasters on and funny sports.
Speaker 2 (01:52:05):
Yeah, talk sports and uh you know you have a
good time doing it.
Speaker 4 (01:52:09):
Yeah, I'd watch.
Speaker 6 (01:52:10):
I'd watch the live and then I'd watched the two reruns,
and then I'd watch Chips for the rest of the day.
Speaker 2 (01:52:14):
I swear, who would you like better on on stuff?
A guy named Sean Salisbury, great head of hair. Yeah, good, good,
good look Yeah, I thought you were talking about you.
Oh that too, Yeah, I thought that was there flowing.
I don't want a ball wash. It's only eight forty five,
so well and plus four we got to get a break.
Never to for a good washer.
Speaker 4 (01:52:34):
There's definitely not. Let's talk college football.
Speaker 6 (01:52:37):
Got some audio from Connor Wegman, quarterback from Texas A
and m he looked terrible.
Speaker 4 (01:52:42):
What happened?
Speaker 2 (01:52:42):
Yeah, well I can tell you who will never look terrible.
You may be a d I wire, but you need
curt of pro. You what curt of pro in that house?
You want them on that wall, yep. And you also
want them on the wall in your room, in your

Speaker 3 (01:54:06):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues continue.
Speaker 6 (01:54:11):
You know the radio gold right, I mean we lead
the way anyways, you know, and then we throw in
Tehano tuesdays.
Speaker 2 (01:54:19):
Buddy, all it was just putting chocolate chips on top
of the ice.
Speaker 6 (01:54:22):
Cream exactly there you go, right, Putting whipped cream on
a pancake, you know what I mean, with a cherry.
Speaker 2 (01:54:26):
On top, Putting powdered sugar on the French stoves. Yeah,
Putting boys and berry jelly off on a waffle, damned right.
Speaker 6 (01:54:36):
Putting salt, pepper and ketchup on a sausage, egg and
cheese biscuit, I mean a bagel.
Speaker 2 (01:54:41):
Well, well, yeah, well I don't know either. I'm I'm out,
I'm out an analogies. It's a good run though, yeah,
well you've had a good run.
Speaker 5 (01:54:52):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:54:52):
He didn't have a good run, Oh Texas.
Speaker 8 (01:54:56):
A and M.
Speaker 2 (01:54:58):
Hurt me. Not that it matters, it hurt me. I
expected better. Yeah, you know, I think the kid can play,
but I know coming out of an injury, dude, what
it takes to get your feel down. Now, he may
he's not going to make the excuse, but I know
the hesitance that happened to me. But once you feel
it'll go. That's why it's hard to just the kid's
a better player than what you saw this weekend. Now,
(01:55:19):
Notre Dame defense isn't exactly a hack. Okay, they're really good,
but he looked out of sorts and overwhelmed, which is
not him. Wigman's a better player than that. But if
if that's the first time you saw him, you know
what you're saying, and that was the first time you
saw Connor Wegman play quarterback. What you're saying to yourself is,
(01:55:40):
how's this guy the starter?
Speaker 6 (01:55:41):
So it's it's it's a really good point that you
bring up about the injury, because I know you went
through that when you were at USC.
Speaker 4 (01:55:46):
Two of them, right and you're on your back you
hit on it earlier there.
Speaker 6 (01:55:50):
I have not heard his sound, So there are some
things that you talked about that you thought of Ooh,
can I do this?
Speaker 5 (01:55:55):
Can I do that?
Speaker 4 (01:55:56):
And it's always kind of in the back of your mind.
Speaker 6 (01:55:57):
Well, Connor Wagman was asked if he thought his injury
in the last game of the season last year was
why he was why he looked less confident. It looks skittish, Yeah,
looks skittish. Perfect, So this is what Connor Weigman had
to say.
Speaker 26 (01:56:13):
I mean, I take it back to my baseball day,
So what next pitch? I mean that's how I've always
approached any sport I play. And I told my teammates
this morning, point blank period, I have to be better.
I mean there's no excuses for how I played, like literally,
point blank period.
Speaker 2 (01:56:29):
I gotta be better.
Speaker 7 (01:56:30):
And that's what I told him this morning.
Speaker 26 (01:56:31):
Absolutely not. I mean I was ready to go. I'm
one hundred percent. My mind was nowhere thinking about any
injuries at all. I mean, I gotta be better with
my feet and I got to be more accurate and
as simple as that. I mean, I don't back down
from anything. I'll face it head on. I'll be the
first one to tell you I didn't play the way
I'm supposed to play in point blank period. I got
to be better and being back healthy. I felt like
(01:56:53):
I've been a leader in that locker room and everyone
looks to me, and I take that with a sense
of pride, and I feel that responsibility, and I hold
that responsibility near and dear to my heart. And I
got to be that guy, Like I told him this morning,
I'm gonna step up. I don't let one game to
find me who I am as a person. I don't
let one game to find me who I am as
a player. And he's got to go and bounce back,
show up to work today and let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:57:13):
How can you not rally around that? Accountability said, he's
one hundred percent in point blank period.
Speaker 4 (01:57:18):
He's got to be better. That's what you want a quarterback, right?
Speaker 2 (01:57:21):
Is there something going on with your You can hear me, okay,
because now now it's not a good Yeah, I know
I'm not good, but anyway, it's it's popping it out.
I'll tell you this. Oh your your sound, I guess
my earpiece is or my headset is. I'll rally around
that guy. Yeah, walks up, Accountable, tells his teammates he's
better And even though consciously you may not think about
(01:57:43):
it because I have been in the exact situation he
was in. After you know, you're you're going along good,
high expectations, and even though you make some plays, it's
still in the back of your mind, even though you're
not thinking about it because you can't. There's still that
or my mechanics the same. Can I put my foot
in the ground and do the things I want to do?
He will. That's why I told you the beginning this,
don't over judge one performance, even if being thrown for
(01:58:04):
five hundred, don't stick him as a Heisman Trophy winner.
I'll tell you what gives you more hope than just
his skill set that he's going to be that Connor
Wigman we expect is what you just heard. Accountability knows
that he did not play well and knows he was
a big reason why offensively, then move the ball. He
did not play well, But why should one game defind
what he is as a person or football player. If
(01:58:26):
that's my guy and I'm in that locker room all
day every day, I'll run through it, over it, around
it with him. Now the performance has got to pick up.
He knows that. But could you imagine he got on
there saying, yeah, you know I did okay and started
making every built in excuse. That's not him, that's not
the guy we expect. It's not a hall pass. Criticize
a way, but I don't think that's going to phase him.
(01:58:47):
But he's got to play better. And in the SEC
quarterback play, if you're average and you don't have a defense,
it's like, looks like you're playing against fifteen guys. Then
that position, it's we're in a quarterback world right now.
When it comes to football, that guy's average or below average,
it's hard to win. Ask Florida State go around the
(01:59:09):
league around good football, go around it. It's tough to do.
So I trust Connor Wigman. We can criticize, but I
would expect I don't know who they played this week,
but I would expect him. And I don't care who
they play. You should expect him to come back and
play good football. And it's not the if they're playing
somebody they're supposed to hammer. I don't even know who
they're playing, but it's not that part of it. Watch
(01:59:29):
his game within the game, how his feet are set,
how he's throwing the ball with urgency and confidence, and
then you'll see, Okay, one game outlier. They'll get back
at it and it may end up being the best
thing for him. He got knocked around, Come back and
take care of your business. I trust Connor Wigman to
come back and play. He did not play well on Saturday.
Was it Saturday Nurday? Saturday? Yeah, because that's he was
(01:59:50):
on Sunday, Yes, Saturday night.
Speaker 6 (01:59:52):
Let's take a look around all of college football after
week one is complete.
Speaker 4 (01:59:57):
Who the most impressive?
Speaker 3 (02:00:00):
Your radio station? This is Sports Talk seven ninety and
the Rockets your home for your home teams, driven by
the classic elite view at GMC Studios for the elite
car buying experience, right right now on seven ninety. Your

contest text festival to two hundred two hundred. Saulisbury, Sasbury, Houston.
Speaker 7 (02:00:44):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (02:00:46):
Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (02:00:49):
To USC true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (02:00:51):
Ryanl Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury shown.
Speaker 4 (02:01:00):
What a weekend. It was hope.
Speaker 6 (02:01:01):
Everybody had a fantastic Labor Day weekend. A lot of football,
a lot of baseball. Texas looked really good. They won
fifty two to nothing.
Speaker 4 (02:01:13):
Texas.
Speaker 8 (02:01:13):
A and M.
Speaker 6 (02:01:13):
We just talked about them. They lost to Notre Dame,
got that win. Georgia looked really good. I mean, there
was some impressive, impressive wins. Your USC Trojans taking down LSU.
Brian Kelly kind of throwing a little tever tantrum after
the game, but you know, a little frustration coming out.
Speaker 2 (02:01:34):
You also had Utah on that was on Thursday. They dominated.
Speaker 6 (02:01:40):
I mean, you just go through this whole litany of games,
Oregon only scoring twenty four points, taking down Idaho twenty
four to fourteen, Ole miss beating the breaks off of
poor Furman.
Speaker 4 (02:01:52):
I want to bet on that thanks to you.
Speaker 2 (02:01:53):
Appreciate that my pleasure, except we didn't win that parlay
that we took. You know, no, let's do it too.
Just score a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (02:02:01):
Yeah that's all we need.
Speaker 2 (02:02:03):
I'm not asking much. Just score a touchdown. And hell,
if they played again this week, I'd probably bet A
and M again, but it's as much. But Notre Dames
defense could, and Riley Leonard will be a good player.
Speaker 6 (02:02:13):
A and M's hosting McNeice. You mentioned who they play.
They mentioned they.
Speaker 2 (02:02:17):
That's why they're gonna beat McNee state. But watch the
game within a game, watch the convent. Now listen. When
you're playing on an opponent, you're supposed to beat the
confidence and go up a little bit. But it'll be
just the rhythm that gets Wigman back into doing what
he does. Yeah, and he just listen. Who of us
hasn't had one of those? Yeah, just a wrong time
against the wrong team on national television. But I'll rally
around a guy who takes accountability like he does, and
(02:02:38):
who's who's got a pedigree that tells me he knows
how to he knows how to play. So I think
it'll be better. But McNee State, it's a good time
to get healthy, meaning score about sixty.
Speaker 6 (02:02:50):
Michigan took down Fresno State thirty to ten, Penn State
getting past to West Virginia thirty four to twelve. Thought
West Virginia play a little bit better than then what
they did. I think that's and that's the tip of
the capta Penn stake because they're really good and their
defense is really, really, really nasty. I'll tell you another
thing in that LSUSC game. You're getting the more of
the LSUSC game. The one thing LSU has that concerned
(02:03:12):
me going in that the biggest matchup was their offensive
line versus USC's defensive front. I love the multiple looks
that the former UCLA coach gave us as our defensive
coordinator now because losing Alex Scranch was it was horrible
the last two years.
Speaker 2 (02:03:25):
Yeah, and Cranch is better than that. But boil boy,
you talk about a guy, You're like, what happened? And
then they came in into the physicality because those two
tackles are both going in the first round at LSU,
and I would you know both. I'll tell you what
I do know about both teams as they move forward,
are going to have to run the ball. Have you
noticed the LSU started to run it better second half
and late start, they started to post some of that
(02:03:47):
will and USC it took like the last driver two
for them to run the ball efficiently. Neither team ran
it like they're going to have to run it in
the big ten in the SEC to win. But I
thought the biggest mismatch going in was going to be
their offensive line versus USC's defensive front seven and their
front But whatever reason, USC was quicker off the ball
(02:04:09):
and their defensive front and they did a nice job
and both quarterbacks played well enough to win. Moss just
made more plays and SE's defense was the story of
the game for the most part. But in truth, Miller
Moss although he threw one touch on some of the
throws he made under duress and that whole shot he
threw for the and and LSU's got to be more
disciplined on penalties. Dumb just too. A couple of dumb
penalties costs them. And now can I can I ask
(02:04:30):
you real quick? Yeah, we have got to get rid
of the rule. It was and it gave USC movement
and the one where they got penalized, meaning LSU where
sc missed out and the l s U was it
got the stop and s he had to put they
they oh, they got up on a on a on
a play and they were going to be around midfield
(02:04:50):
and it moved them back to their own twenty I
think it was a was it a dead ballfoul? Whatever,
it moved them back, right, is yeah? Moving right? Is
that the dumb penalties. What was I talking about the
rule of when you tell your guy them now, you
can't be like, you can't be saying hut hut if
(02:05:11):
you're a defense guy talking yeah, trying to get him
to jump the penalty early in the game that sc
moved because all they did was shift their line. Why
is it that we're allowed to audibilize on offense chain
move shift motion, but the second of your linebacker because
you're trying to give them one look and then say
shift move. You're telling your defensive front move get into
this gap or slide neither way, and you're not allowed
(02:05:33):
to say that. They got penalized for it. Nobody clapped
at the same time se clapped for the You can't
clap like you're giving the huddle clap on defense. But
me as a linebacker communicating telling guys to move and
then making a quick move laterally, not towards the line
of scrimmage laterally, I thought it was a bush league
penalty on LSU against USC USC got a free one.
That is a you got to do away with that craft.
(02:05:53):
This is football stoopid. If you can't hand if you
guys aren't disciplined enough on USC's offensive line to watch
them move and you're gonna jump, then you're asked needs
to go sit on a bench and bring somebody else out,
and you need to be taught better. But the truth
of the matter is the rule completely the rule. Now
that's not the reason they lost the game, but the
rule sucks, and it's gonna cost somebody laid in a
game on a third and four and they're gonna move,
(02:06:16):
You can't. You can't prevent the defense from moving laterally. Yeah,
now in the neutral zone completely get it, you know,
jumping out of getting the neutral zone and your guy moves.
That's on the defense, the lateral movement ls you got
hose on that penalty. But the stupid pointing a gun
at a guy like you're pointing a gun a guy,
and then the helmet, the helmet at the end of
the game, and the whole shot after a great throw
and catch and the catch early in that game, the
(02:06:38):
one handed catch, yeahval a catch you're going and took
a hit too, Yeah, Yeah, that that was impressive. They
made more big plays than LSU did and didn't have
that costly what are you doing penalty that that cost
them At.
Speaker 4 (02:06:51):
The end of the game. Who was the most impressive
for you over the weekend?
Speaker 2 (02:06:54):
Team or player? Team? Joel, you see, for me, it's
like I expected Penn State defense to do great things,
and they did I expect. I was more shocked at
the lack of early on in some games, like Ohio
State's early starting. Now they went on hung with fifty
on them, they started sluggish, and Oregon not getting the
end zone very much. They had to struggle with Idaho.
(02:07:14):
Surprising was I guess the most disappointing was A and
M's offensive performance and maybe this is who Florida State is.
Then on the good side, you go around the league. Dude,
the Boise State. Look, I'm telling them be careful. Now,
those guys can flat out play. I'm gonna tell you
who else was impressive that I thought and they we've
talked to them like a not a long shot, but
(02:07:36):
kind of out of the first three of the Big twelve.
This University Arizona team is still really good. I had
a receiver catch what three hundred yards with the footballs,
I mean yards, so them we can go. I know
I'm leaving somebody out across it. But Georgia looked like
Georgia on defense, and I'm telling you offensively, they haven't
even scratched the surface. That freshman running back from Compton
who went to Moderate, I think he's a modern David.
Speaker 4 (02:07:58):
We're talking about him time.
Speaker 2 (02:08:00):
I'm gonna tell you, man, he's a freak show. And
they don't even have the running back atm who's suspended
so far right, who transferred. Bless you, thank you. He's
not even playing this offense. Bless you. George is gonna
be really good. I guess I was just maybe it's personal,
but USC's defense impressed me and Miller Moss after taking
(02:08:22):
over for the Heisman winner. I expected him to put it.
I didn't expect him to be as accurate and he
was throwing. Then he threw a post and a dig
route to that left. His anticipation of the throw and
nobody's looking was fantastic. He showed me a sense of
mental and physical toughness. I didn't know he'd having his
first start against LSU. In a neutral sight, I was
(02:08:43):
really impressed with this play. But it was a physicality
us And maybe it's biased, but there's a lot of
good performances. You can't take away from what they from
where they were. I expected Georgia to do their thing.
I expect Ohio State to win. I expected Oregon to win.
I don't know what I expected from US. I didn't
think they were going to be that physical. That was
the most impressive thing for me.
Speaker 4 (02:09:03):
Also, we cannot go without recognizing.
Speaker 2 (02:09:08):
And Texas did what I thought Texas would do.
Speaker 4 (02:09:10):
The Iowa Hawkeyes. They scored forty points.
Speaker 2 (02:09:12):
See my post, Yeah, when I said don't bury, basically
don't bury the lead. Yeah, the biggest news in college
football this week and is Iowa was scored more than
thirty forty points. They won forty to nothing. How many
times they'll see it again this year probably not very many.
But that's a good story of do it's right.
Speaker 6 (02:09:27):
Cade McNamara twohundred fifty one yards passing, unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (02:09:31):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (02:09:32):
The key is not the hate. Okay, you're trying to
hate on Dog. You're trying to hate on Iowa. And
they did it without their head coach suspended for the
first game, Kybe. Maybe that's why. Well, if he comes
back and they scored twelve, you know the reason? Why
go home and watch from your own TV.
Speaker 4 (02:09:48):
Yere you go, all right?
Speaker 6 (02:09:49):
Brian Kelly Head, coach of LSU football, A little upset
after that loss to USC We got the audio slams
the table a couple of times.
Speaker 2 (02:09:57):
You don't want to miss that's next, and you don't
want to miss trasion. Well either, you've plan for vacations.
Now it's football season. You had that summer planning. You
plan a lot. Okay, Now when it comes to your finances,
your retirement, when to retire? Do have enough to retire?
What's my risk tolerance?
Speaker 3 (02:10:12):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (02:10:12):
While I'm in the process of retirement, when did I
start my planning for retirement? And can I stay retired?
And do I get to do all these things that

Sean Salisbury, Ryan Lolima, you want to see what a
real football? This is the Sean Salisbury Show on Sports
Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 23 (02:11:40):
Jeff, welcome in MAAURNI, thanks for the college football. I
have a quick question for you guys. It's perception and
opinion over when of you've been a fan, when do
you think of A and M marquee matchup? Been conference,
out of conference Florida UCLA, this one. What are your
impressions and expectations. I want to see what you think
of when you hear about the game being an now,
(02:12:01):
whether you're going to watch it or not. I'm just
wondering if anybody takes A and M seriously in these
games anymore.
Speaker 2 (02:12:07):
You know what I think going in with the new coach,
Jeff I do. I took him serious with a change.
I think they needed to make a change and they did.
And I know the defensive coordinator watched him work for
A and M. I've I've watched this head coach do
great things wherever he's been. He's made a difference, and
I do think their defense will make a difference. I
(02:12:30):
don't believe Connor Wigman's that is that guy you saw Saturday. Now,
good teams can force bad play, but keep an eye
on how this progresses over the next month. I put
it this way, maybe not taking him as serious and
Notre Dame took him serious and they put it on them.
So as fans and maybe national media, maybe we over
go in and over pub them because there's been a
coaching change. But he's got a duke. Isn't no disrespect
(02:12:53):
to duke. But duke ain't a and m it's a
it's a responsibility. It's going to take some time. They
got good players, and Wigman. Wigman put it this way,
He's not gonna be the reason they lose seven games.
I don't think expect him to play like that the
rest of the way. So I think they take him serious.
If they don't, they're gonna get their ass kicked at
some point.
Speaker 5 (02:13:09):
But I do I do?
Speaker 2 (02:13:12):
Do I think Texas takes them serious. Oh, they'll take
them serious because the rivalry has been gone for so
long and it's in the state, and Steve Sarkisan will
make sure that Texas takes them serious. Now, if you're
talking about who's the better team right now, by a
long shot, it's the guys in Austin. We'll see how
quickly that changes by the time these two Wait, what
week do they play? When do they play?
Speaker 4 (02:13:33):
Thanksgiving?
Speaker 2 (02:13:33):
Yeah? Thanksgiving, Ricky right, So that we'll get a better
idea over the next month of what it is. But
if you're Texas, you damn will better respect them because
they're not gonna play like that the whole year. If
they do, then then Elko will be scrambling around thing
and what am I gonna do? You'll see something better.
But I think in rivalries like this, even though it
hasn't played in a long time, if you don't respect
(02:13:56):
the rivalry, that rival will come no matter what their
record is. I know when we played UCLA at times
when they weren't the best team, or when I watch them,
there's something deep inside in a rivalry game that will
make you either fold or play great football. And I
would expect A and M to play better football against
Texas by the end of this season than they did
(02:14:16):
this past week. If they don't, they'll get boat raced.
Speaker 23 (02:14:19):
S're gonna There's some kids in Mississippi and at Auburn
and other places in the SEC their gun in form
though every year.
Speaker 2 (02:14:25):
Oh, there is no question gun in form and who's
got the most money to get you to a school
at times, but there is no question their gun and form.
And there's no question. There's other teams and other schools
in the SEC right now Tennessee, Ole, miss We know
about Alabama, Georgia that are held in higher regard and
it's going to be A and m's responsibility to get
that fixed as soon as possible. Saturday didn't help them,
(02:14:47):
that's for sure.
Speaker 11 (02:14:48):
Thank you all very much.
Speaker 2 (02:14:50):
Thanks appreciate you, buddy.
Speaker 4 (02:14:51):
Let's talk to Conrad James. Conrad James, good morning.
Speaker 27 (02:14:55):
Good morning to you. I have a couple of questions,
but I also wanted to comment. I went to the game,
the Cougar game. I'm a Cougar, and it was just
a disaster. We didn't make it past the fifty yard line,
I think, but maybe three times. The quarterback has no
(02:15:15):
time to throw. The offensive line did a terrible job,
and so the plays turned into helter skelter, and then
we shank a thirty yard field goal. So Coach Fritz,
I think he's going to do it for you, of
h but he says he wants to start winning. Now
I get it, but this is going to be a rebuild.
(02:15:39):
This is a couple years away. And when I looked
at the players on the field, there are a whole
lot of small players and you're in the Big twelve.
You're playing against brick buildings out there. So okay, so
here's my two questions. One, what is holding us up
from getting plenty of NIL contracts for the young people,
(02:16:04):
so they want to play here. And the second thing
is I probably want to get a mini pack. So
I'm talking to home games. I don't know a lot
about the Big twelve because this is new to us.
What game could I pick that hopefully you think could
be competitive?
Speaker 5 (02:16:22):
And I'll listen.
Speaker 4 (02:16:24):
You want to put you on old James, so you
can listen to you got us up on the app
or radio?
Speaker 2 (02:16:29):
I have you up on the radio. Okay, great, thanks James.
First all, we pull up their schedule out and you
can bring it to our attention. Here's what I do
know in NIL, you're in competition with a lot of schools.
How much they're committed. I think that Kelvin Sampson and
the group and the overall for TITA and a new
athletic trick. That's a big reason why. And I love
(02:16:49):
Chris Pesman. But they decided to make somebody a change
and to go somebody who's more what's the word, I'm
looking for more receptive to it, receptive to it, and
they're going to push that hard that they are going
to push it hard. And you know you're always looking
for ways, and I got one, by the way, if
they want to and they know how to add some
(02:17:09):
money to your nil to be able to go get
recruits that are maybe they're sitting on the fence between
Texas and Houston. And to bring it back in enthusiasm,
and you know what, it's going to take a minute
to bring the enthusiasm back. So that's how you do it.
And you got to build it, and alumni got to
be buying in, and you got to get buying that
from the players on the field. Well we've got to
the point now we're alumni and your big you know
the group the border regents who pushes it and they
(02:17:30):
everybody's got to buy in.
Speaker 15 (02:17:32):
You just do.
Speaker 2 (02:17:33):
And I think Willie Fritz, I'm with you. I think
he will turn around. But I can tell you this
right now, I know they want to win. Now they're
closer to the bottom than they are at the top. Yeah,
they're gonna that's just it. That's the way. They're not
very good right now. But he will get competitive players
in there and he will win eventually. Now, how long
is the patience? How long is that window? In the
big twelve? You can transform fast if you got guy
(02:17:54):
under center. You get bigger and physical, and you get
some stops. But I love isn't and you've got to recruit,
and Willy Fritz will do a great job of that.
And I don't think he'll take it for granted, but
I can tell you this, you better be patient because
right now, when right now, Willy Fritz is closer to
having to fix it than he is it being fixed.
And Nil, whether you like it or not, competitive balance,
(02:18:15):
NI L the simple fact that they say follow the money.
Following the money will lead to bigger recruits. I'm just
I'm just telling you it will. And we've got enough
players here in this city. You got to put a
fence around Houston and make it even tough for Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma, LSU.
I know it's hard, you're not going to compete with
those guys, but you know what the great equalizer is
(02:18:37):
that support that's anywhere, that's you got. It'll it'll get
to the point where when you can keep your best
players going right over there to to deku is I
like to call it, and to steal the guy that
wasn't supposed to come here because of Nil or Willi
Fritz's ability to recruit in his staff. That'll be a
big part of it. But I they're close to the bottom,
(02:18:59):
they are the top, so real quick run through that schedule.
Speaker 6 (02:19:02):
So I would say, just for to for times sake,
you got a home game against Rice on September fourteenth.
You got a home game against Iowa State on the
twenty eighth of September.
Speaker 2 (02:19:10):
Sam Houston, just boat race what Rice over the weekend? Yeah, okay,
I would say, right, it would be Rice, Iowa State.
And then also you host Utah. You're not gonna want
to go to that one? Oh, you host Kansas State?
Competitive wise? He asked about competitive wise, Utah is gonna
boat race you it? Well, if you want competitive, go
to the Rice game. That's what I'm saying. Go to
Rice or Iowa State, even the Liow States if you want.
(02:19:32):
If you want to see if they're going to play
big boy football, go watch them physicality wise, and you
talked about size, he talked about Connor talked about the
size of their team. H go watch them play Utah
on Kansas State to get a flavor a taste of Yeah,
what especially Utah of what full blown physical you know
what Utah has been They're a team in the Pac
twelve that's always belonged in the Big ten or SEC
(02:19:54):
when it comes to physicality.
Speaker 6 (02:19:55):
Right, Yeah, Utah Kansas State, and then they host Baylor
on Saturday night ever twenty.
Speaker 2 (02:20:00):
That might be more competitive. I say, Rice, Iowa State
or Baylor has those three home games to pick to
try to go where you've Ah is going to be competitive.
And if you want to see how big physical football
is played, have you tall ye, go go watch how
they handle their business at the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 7 (02:20:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:20:15):
And I think, and I just to re reiterate, I
think Willi Fritz was the right guy to hire. And
I think he's gonna do it. It might just take
a year or two and or you just go get
more and more in I own money and it'll fix
real it'll help, it'll make it, it'll work faster.
Speaker 2 (02:20:29):
Yeah. Two things too. One is did we really expect
them to mean let's let's not just like we don't
do on a player, Let's not bury the program after
one game?
Speaker 5 (02:20:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:20:39):
And two is U n LV was like nine to
five last year? You asked me who I picked a win?
Who'd I picked to win? They're a good football team
you said. In fact, U n LV is about as
good as they've been in quite some time. With the
people they're getting. They're doing a good job. The coach
is coaching them up. And I didn't expect Houston to
win this game. But let's give Willy Fritz tam to
put his stamp on this. Yeah, and Donald at Smith
(02:21:00):
a quarterback, for he's a talented player. He has to
play better. He does Wile in that game he did
not play well. Another talented player who has to pick
up his game, like like DJ, like clayd I mean,
Caid club Nick, like a lot of guys who are
from you that know how to play, They're gonna have
to elevate their connor. That's what I said to me
A and M. Yeah, Weigman's got to play better, and
(02:21:20):
I think that there's a bunch of them that will.
Speaker 6 (02:21:22):
Yep, let's continue to talk college football and to take
your phone call seven one three two one two five
seven ninety. We'll do that next right here on Sports
Talks seven ninety. Brotherly Love Electric. So over the weekend,
I was with Daniel Hopper, one of the owners of
Brotherly Love Electric. I was with them all weekend in Scottsdale.
And one of the things that he reiteriterated to me
multiple times when we did talk a little bit of
(02:21:43):
business is that Brotherly Love continues to have a fully
stocked warehouse for you and their home generator. It's the
Briggs and Straddon home generator and they have it fully
stocked so you don't have to have a long lead time.
They are the shortest lead times in the city. Other
generator providers right now up to a six month wait.
(02:22:03):
Not with Brotherly Love Electric. They also offer twenty four
to seven monitoring in every generator system, so if there's
ever a problem, you're gonna know about it before They're
gonna know about it before you do. Brotherly Love Electric
is a fully bonded electrician company. He's been servicing the
Greater Houston area for over ten years. And what they
do as well, along with installing a brand new generator,
if you currently have a generator and you need it service,
(02:22:24):
Brotherly Love Electric is going to do that for you
as well. So call this number to get a quote.
Three four six seven seven seven three three seven zero.
Do not get left in the dark the next time
the power goes out because of a hurricane, strong, thunderstorm
strong wins. You know how it goes with the power grid,
Get ahead of it with a home generator for American
the American made generator from Briggs and Stratton Brotherly love Electric.
Speaker 3 (02:22:46):
It's connection you can count on. And but the Shawn
Salisbury Show continues, Oh makes sense? Wake up on the beat?
Speaker 2 (02:22:57):
H yepto Tuesdays? Is that every day in Esco? Okay,
they have beaches in Esco. Not far about eighteen miles.
You'd be in this, you'd be in the Carlsbad ocean side.
Speaker 7 (02:23:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:23:09):
What's the drive time on eighteen miles? I always love when.
Speaker 2 (02:23:11):
I depend on when you go Highway seventy eight.
Speaker 4 (02:23:14):
The older generation, I'm like, yeah, how far is that
from here? Thinking in my mind how long?
Speaker 2 (02:23:19):
Time?
Speaker 4 (02:23:19):
Wise? All about twenty seven miles?
Speaker 2 (02:23:21):
Just around the corner.
Speaker 4 (02:23:22):
I don't care about the mile.
Speaker 2 (02:23:24):
No, that was my mom and dad corner. It'd be
like a five hour trip. Mom, are we there yet?
Forty five minutes into that we're just just around the corner. Yeah,
just around the corner. I got a quick story. Okay,
So over the weekend, do you realize we always get
on like karens in suburbia. Yeah, oh god, this is
gonna be great. Karen's in suburbia. Yeah, don't kid yourself. No,
(02:23:45):
the dudes match what is it a ken yeah or
whatever they are? Yeah, male Karen, Yeah, yeah, it's twenty
twenty four.
Speaker 4 (02:23:52):
Yeah, you're right.
Speaker 2 (02:23:53):
True, true, there's just as many of those. Correct. But
basically what I'm saying is the softest bitch, bitch, that's
what I call for, guy.
Speaker 4 (02:24:00):
And it's fat, gonna probably back idea.
Speaker 2 (02:24:05):
Make it so you know the crib, you better the
crib out the fence and behind it there's a area
right behind that. It's a green belt you can't build
on before you get to all the trees and stuff,
and there's a flat it's green where they come and
mow the grass.
Speaker 23 (02:24:15):
Eye.
Speaker 2 (02:24:15):
I'd MoWT myself again to do the wee And it's
all the rain we get in behind our houses, which
is really are you want the same look at the
back of the house is just because that's where the
green bet. Everybody you want to look good. You like
the front and there's graph they come and what's a
big space and it's wet as could be and you're
not allowed. It's too afore. And I'm all for teenagers
being teenagers, dude, but you can't take an ATV, rent
(02:24:40):
it right along the fence and antagonize in a hundred
minds and dipping into where now they it's taken months
to clear to where the the tire marks aren't deep in.
So like, come on, man, you know, I understand, have fun,
but there's a path. It says no, do it, don't
don't do it. I get we all want to break
a few rules, so it's not that big a deal.
So joking around, just in fun. I go on the
men's group in my and I say no, So I
(02:25:02):
say this, so if your guy reading it, I think
I'm gonna get my pellet gun out and I think
I'm gonna just let it rip on these teenagers or
just tearing up our lawn behind our house. And I mean,
everybody so up and down right because it's dude, it
brained a lot, it's like, and.
Speaker 4 (02:25:16):
It's not being like me, Like I've done Star Wars
shooting right.
Speaker 2 (02:25:21):
Well with the pellet gun, I said, And I said,
if not, and then after that, I'll just let one
hundred pound bully go clean up the mess. Joking around
I said, no, never mind, I'll just put a clothesline
out there. So when you're saying that, what.
Speaker 4 (02:25:30):
Are you saying, I'm probably chasm.
Speaker 2 (02:25:32):
Yeah, probably, If I really want to do that, I'll
just walk out the back of my fence and give
them a straight arm myself and to open up a
can on three teenagers that their parents aren't wise enough
to do them damn self. So I do it. Oh,
that's a you're going to And I did it to
just a little laugh right little that's aggravated assault. And
I'm like, oh, and then another guy, are you used
(02:25:53):
the R word? Are you re you know stuff you
don't use? And I'm like, you guys can't be serious.
So I'm sitting here, I say, do you guys? I
mean if a guy did that too, I'd say, man,
cause you know one guy and it's a funny site
where guys would pull one guy's like in a thong.
It's a it's a meme. Yeah, he says, if you
guys see me, I just mind your own business. If
you see me out here working in my garage like this.
(02:26:13):
So it was just a joke. You're like basically saying
in a fun way, keep your teenagers off there because
you're you're killing your your roots. And when they say
it's not that big a deal, well it is because
it's my house and it's the neighbor's house. It's not
that big a deal because they won't do it behind
your house and I do pay, and so it's not
that big a deal. It'll it'll if it was in
my backyard. Different story, But it really is in your backyard.
(02:26:35):
And I'm telling you, you soft ass suburban bitch dads easy.
If I'm thinking you guys can't be so so it
makes you want to get out the side and say, well,
that's who we're living in. I got a better idea.
Learn how to raise your kid and teach them from
writing ATV up because if I did have my so
and you know what happened if they did that at
their house, or when they were walking down the path
(02:26:56):
with their dog and scared their dog, or their dog
got loose and went over and attacked them, what would
they say, Well, you can't let those kids do this
with the ATV. It's just a little common respect. But
the bigger stupidity is not the kids. It's the parents
who raise them, and the fact that It's like you
really thought I'm gonna take a pellet gun. Why not
take a real one and just start plucking them off
like Mark Wahlberg and shoot her. I mean, you can't
(02:27:18):
be that an IQ, a common sense IQ of about four.
If you're one of those and you're listening, and you
live in that community and you're one of those, I'm
talking to you, quit being a little soft ass bitch
and go slap your kid upside the head, or I'll
make a tackle on them. Strange but true football stories.
The more they want to do it in the rain,
or I'll just take mine and go do it to you.
Speaker 6 (02:27:38):
I also think it's I guarantee the ones that are
freaking out about that, or old white men. I'm telling
you it's the old basic white dudes that get so
but hurt over everything.
Speaker 4 (02:27:46):
I have nothing better to do. It's like and take
life way too damn seious.
Speaker 2 (02:27:50):
So the green beell you know the area, Just go
knock on doors if you really want to find me
that bad okay, or have your song or God or
just stop at the house. Yeah, come on by those teenagers,
stop it, come down and I'll buy you know what,
why don't I just grab the eighteen year old of
beer too.
Speaker 6 (02:28:08):
My My favorite part about like those pages is like
the Cairns that are on there and they're like they hear,
they hear any kind of pop. It could be like
a Nissan, a Nissan car or a Honda Civic backfire.
Speaker 7 (02:28:20):
I just heard.
Speaker 3 (02:28:21):
I just heard a pop?
Speaker 2 (02:28:22):
Is that gunshots? Lady? You live in river Oaks? No,
just stop it? No, yeah, a gun hasn't entered river
Oaks in eight million years. Okay woods, Yeah, stop it. No,
the gate's tougher to get over the wall than the
wall that they're trying to build on the border. Okay,
three pops, dude, And.
Speaker 4 (02:28:42):
It sounded like guns anybody can anybody confirm?
Speaker 2 (02:28:45):
But you know there's the dudes that are just as
bad as they.
Speaker 4 (02:28:47):
Oh, I know what I'm saying, So like white man,
kill you and.
Speaker 2 (02:28:49):
If I go in there, that's assault.
Speaker 3 (02:28:51):
No really, you think kidding.
Speaker 2 (02:28:53):
I'm sitting there on top of my roof. Oh let
me hear. Oh I got him dialed in, Brian, tell
me when you squeeze red exactly? Yeah, you know what? Yeah,
the next thing I'm gonna say, you know, I think
I gonna put I think I gona put a a
you know the strip that the cops put down to
pull on. You can't do that, well, you might hurt somebody.
(02:29:16):
Oh okay, how about I just walk over your house
and whoop your bitch ass ass just because you don't
have to raise a kid, how about that? Or just
don't have kids? Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, kids exactly. And
it wasn't mad at the teenage's Like I was like,
come on, you just have a you know if, because
what if you did get your you'd let your dog
out in the back and that thing comes rounding my
hits on, you know, the right. But that's not the
(02:29:36):
big The teenagers were just like a little irritant in
the mud, right, it's the the parents. Do you really
think of a pellet gut him? If I really want
to be that big a clown, I said, Man, you
know what, a glock nine mil would have been great?
Speaker 10 (02:29:49):
On it?
Speaker 2 (02:29:50):
Great, Then you can say that's a little too harsh.
Stop it, soft ass punk ass bitches. Let's get to
break seven one, three, two, five, seven.
Speaker 4 (02:29:58):
I will end the show.

Speaker 7 (02:32:00):
Now, it's cool. We up about five six years. It's cool.
Speaker 5 (02:32:04):
I mean up about five or six years, but you're
still about twenty downs. I mean that my ankle would
have had a sack.
Speaker 2 (02:32:12):
She'd have been my mom.
Speaker 4 (02:32:13):
Oh, yeah, you're right, but she doesn't. So she's not.

In the past there, cowboy past.

You hearing this, Darrol?
Speaker 4 (02:32:22):
He said, you're living in the past.

Sound like the cowboys over there. Sound like a broken record.
Speaker 22 (02:32:26):
You know you.
Speaker 7 (02:32:28):
Broken record? You sound like the boys still holding ships
back in ninety five. That's all right, anyway, this is
what I got.
Speaker 2 (02:32:37):
I want to ask you guys something man.
Speaker 28 (02:32:38):
Uh that that that Florida game made a statement man,
because that was a recruiting game, and what the you
did to Florida, what do you went and did was
was monumental for us recruiting. I mean that cam Wall
was at cam was in Cornered Word a few years ago.
Speaker 2 (02:32:58):
Well, cam Ward's gone from in Carna Word to Washington State.
He's one of the few now in college they'll have success.
He's one of the few guys that you go and
you say Okay, I still trust him. This kid, he's
a player incarnate word Washington State Miami. That's the difference
in Miami and Florida State, highly publicized dj Uy ungle
La lay Is. Cam Ward's a better player and that's
(02:33:20):
gonna end up being the difference between Miami and Florida
State this year. With all due respect cam Ward's and
monster talent, that is a good get for them.
Speaker 5 (02:33:28):
Right.
Speaker 28 (02:33:30):
Yeah, I got another thing I want to ask you also,
if this thing with Willi Fritch don't work out, I'm
hoping it does. If it don't work out, I want
to ask you guys a question. Houston went on your
basement on a rare or tear of three good coaches.
I want to hear you, guys, pros and cons on
hiring and not hiring these guys.
Speaker 5 (02:33:50):
I want to hear both.
Speaker 18 (02:33:51):
I'm so with all brows he was.
Speaker 28 (02:33:53):
He wasn't found guilty anything. I want to hear the
pros and cons on him, the pros and cons on
rehing some an opposed CONSI behind her. I'm gonna hang up.
Speaker 16 (02:34:03):
For this DL.
Speaker 2 (02:34:05):
You know what to get and let me ask you, Darrel,
because that's a conversation we don't have. We only got
about a minute thirty to go. A minute or so. Well,
let's have that conversation.
Speaker 11 (02:34:14):
Ery.
Speaker 2 (02:34:14):
You know, it's interesting three guys. I think it's I'm
not ready to run Willie Fritz out the door yet,
but I get what he's saying. Uh, would you? I
think the first guy, who's a brilliant offensive mind, Briles.
I think that whether it's guilty or not, the perception
and how big that was in the lie when it
was under his watch. Whether I think that there'll be
some who will say no way, but our brows knows
how to coach football, make no mistake about it. The
(02:34:36):
other two day.
Speaker 4 (02:34:36):
We'll discuss it tomorrow. Yeah, let's get to Neil. Neil,
