Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsby.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Shawn Salisbury, The USC Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Shawn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 5 (00:22):
Big college football weekend as well. Texas versus Michigan tomorrow
morning eleven am.

Speaker 6 (00:27):
Man.

Speaker 5 (00:27):
We got a packed, packed show, Seawan Tripoli, good morning.
It is fights on Friday.

Speaker 6 (00:33):
That's it. I'm done. I mean, is it really packed?
It is? I mean, is it? Yeah? I mean it
is it really pack? What do we got? What's the
big deal? A little football? This is the best time
of the year for sports. I want to tell you
something too. It was unbelievable how George Foster and Joe
Morgan and Johnny Bench dominated these astros. Dude, the big
red machine is a big red machine. Unbelievable, Yeah, says

(00:56):
our Geronimo. What a great Kim Griff you've Senior was awesome?
Yeah he was. Did you see how Foster hit it
in Riverfront Stadium to the top down per tank. I
saw Barry Larkin make an appearance, No, you did, jumped
in their little p Rose had four more hits and
did he get him to five eight five million? They
just got swept man. They did. So it is a
big weekend and we are fully low. I got a
golf match today, Doc, I got a big easy ranch today.

(01:20):
Good luck. Well, it's supposed to be path home, it's
supposed to be like winds. Great as a highball hitter.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
I think I saw Wednesday up to upwards like thirty
miles an hour because it's a little cool front coming
in Sean.

Speaker 6 (01:32):
It's a buck forty. What are you going to hit
into that with thirty mile hour? Ones? Three wood? Yeah?
Drive at the British Open this year where they had
hit driver on a twenty yard part three driver off
the deck. Please, Hey, you're a pebble beach. At Uver
seven it goes from a pitching wedge to a three
iron depending on which way the wind's blowing. But yeah,
big football weekend. Uh, it was just that close last night,

(01:54):
wasn't it? Good football game? A little ugly at times, right,
but as advertised, two good teams. It'll be around in January,
you'd think so. But boy can't see Chiefs got him. Man,
They just they just they owned that. They own that
space with that team right now? Sure do only thirteen
carries for Derrick Henry. Yeah, well, I'll tell you what
I don't need is Lamar Jackson every week leading the

(02:16):
team in rushing. That will not last. He looked quick
on his feet last night, but I said he lost weight.
I didn't think he was real big anyway. Neither did I.
I actually if you would have told me like now,
I've never stood next to him, But if you'd told
me going into the season, hey, what do you think
I could think, he'd probably put on ten pounds with
the punishment he takes. I thought lost weight for urgency.

(02:36):
But Derrick Henry will get He'll get more more touches.
He needs to get more touches. He just does. And
if you like speed, you see Worthy put his foot
in the ground.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
I said yesterday, he's the guy that I was looking
forward to seeing. Now I don't want to see him
because he's a cheat code for that team. I sure
just add more speed on the perimeter for Patrick Mahomes,
no question.

Speaker 6 (02:55):
When I was I was doing in Minnesota for a
weekly visit. Yesterday I wasn't in Minnesota but doing it
and Ambreer asked me, well about their offense and kin
Kansas City? You know, is this the year they fall off.
I said, well, I thought last year was going to
be a fall off because they didn't have many weapons, right,
and defense carried him. And isn't Spagnolo phenomenal quarter I
don't think he gives enough, gets enough for you, you

(03:18):
know what bogs him down? And he's got four Super
Bowl races as four Super Bowl rings, a defensive coordinator
and it's not any well Andy Read's presence, but Andy
doesn't crave that. It's just that he's so good. You
may have the best play caller and best defensive play
caller on the same team with the best quarterback. Yeah,
it's a pretty good combination, right, But Spags always seems
to dial up enough to keep you out of the

(03:40):
end zone. Right, And they're timely and they're in big games.
But I was told I when he asked me, I said, well,
here's what I would look for in this because they
drafted worthy because they want they love speed in space, right,
they want you to they want to make you scared
to death about what goes on down the field. Then
they can mix in that short screen game and the

(04:00):
and the simple stuff that I talk about all the time.
Did everybody thinks Mahomes life is built on throw it
down the field and make some fifty yard throw out
time you watch him, it's not what The biggest scramble
he made yesterday was the scramble of the right and
hit Kelsey on a deep over route and a broken play.
I'm talking about when the ball leaves his hand right.
So they'll make those big plays, they make them more
than most do. But where they make big plays as

(04:22):
slant in space, guy goes great screen game, you know whatever,
would they create opportunities for run after the catch, and
it'll be more this year because if you play worthy,
you can't You can't squeeze him. If you don't get
your hands on him on the line of scrimmage, you're done.
He's too fast, way too fast, right, So I told
I was telling Dan Breyer in Minnesota. I said, at

(04:43):
some point early in the game, somehow they're going to
run one of those, show you some kind of look
and get worthy of the ball in space. There just
are because Andy's gonna want to see how this looks.
I didn't know how it was going to come. But
when the guy's that fast, nobody exploits defenses with his
personnel's strengths better than the guy in Kansas City. And
I ain't talking about the quarterback. I'm talking about the coach.

(05:04):
And what's he do runs that little reverse, gets him
a little toss reverse and dude, from the time he
got the ball and got his shoulders turned up field
that that crease was there was really no crease. He
threw it so frigging fast. It's like one of those
bullet trains. Right, you blink and it's already gets gone,
and then he's in the end zone. How do you

(05:25):
run one like that and almost be untouched heading to it? Right,
It's just that's just another weapon that they you know,
mckel Hardman's fast and before that, Tyreek kill fast. But
this dude in a dead ass sprint for he's beating
you because he's zero to about eighty zero sixty in
two steps boom boom gone. So just another weapon. And

(05:48):
you know, I'm gonna tell you what last night, too
young receivers saw worthy as he continues Developer's receiver. But
that's eight flowers as a monster, And I'm just telling you,
and Rice isn't exactly chopped liver regardless of what he's
going through I know in the office, off the field,
but there's some players on the field. As matter of fact,
Kelsey was just kind of a guy and they still won. Right,
that's and next week he'll catch ten balls, right, but

(06:09):
it's it's he's going to have to deal with the breakup.
So there you go. Watch out for his Uh you know,
in like three games, have you ever noticed have you
ever seen a guy in the league? Now they're out there,
but there's very few people I know that regardles weekly
that Andy Reid finds a way to get a play
call or personnel grouping or you know, mismatch that allows

(06:31):
you to nobody uses plays. We used to call him
Richardom's with the with the D word, right, that's he
like when you'd run the reverse pass, throwback or but
you know, some kind of trick them play put put change,
trickham But that that's what we used to call them, right. Yeah,
it's just you you want to you're kind of doing
it to set up the defense. You're calling it to work.

(06:51):
But even if it doesn't work, it gives them something
to think about. Andy Reid calls those trick them plays reverses. Uhdud.
He throws, bubble screens of the tight end at the
two yard line. All the stuff that he does. And
you know what, he doesn't call it to hope it works. No, Yes,
it's crazy. He calls it like you like you, and
I would call if I say, Brian, send us, you're

(07:13):
my quarterback. Run slant here, Paul slant, the simple PLAYO
run the hitch, run a curl in flat combination. He
runs those like you run your ordinary lifelong. It's been
in football since the day football. Curl flat, the slant
flat or arrow round, all those things. He runs the
plays you saw to worthy or the you know sprint

(07:33):
right throwback screen to the tight end, or the bubble
down at the goal line. That most guys like you
can't do that. Why can't you? What did the rules say?
You got eleven dudes? Use them how you want to
use them. But you're telling me I can't call it
because it's not traditional. He makes untraditional stuff or non
traditional stuff look normal. That screened it with execute And
I'm telling you they don't just work on it like

(07:55):
three minutes. It is part of their practice routine. And
you see the and the execution A lot of times
you work on those a couple times, and they try
to execute it in the game and you wonder why
it didn't work. Those dudes practice it as if they're
practicing their normal inside run game. We're gonna do it,
do it, do it because when we call it, if
we execute it, it'll be open. That's you. And a

(08:15):
lot of times you just don't execute some guy moves
and all that. It just I'm so impressed with Well,
Monkin's really good on the other side of the ball.
I'm really really impressed just every year and I'm still
fascting how Andy Reid finds more ways to do what
he does with his play calling. You mentioned rules. Oh dude,
I was about to say that off that illegal procedure, penalty,

(08:36):
illegal formation. There was like eight of them in the
first ten plays. Yeah, quite literally. And it's like Ronnie,
I love Ronnie Stanley, Ronnie if I'm the quarterback at
that time. I know Harball lipped it once time said hey,
get Ronnie to move to move up because you know what,
you're afraid they got that left foot back so because
you know, we've seen at times where it's been so
bowed though the left tackle looks like he's three yards

(08:57):
in the backfield and they get that kicks up so
they can. Dude, you got to block Chris Jones and
you got to block Michael Parsons. Your ass better get
a head start. Yet they missed a couple offensive illegal
procedures because the guy got a head start. Yet they
called the pre staff penalty on Ronnie standing like four
times in seven plays. It's like, dude, get your and
he's a great player. Did your ass up to the line? Scratch?

(09:19):
But you want to talk about nitpicking? Last night it
was two inch up foot back behind the other of
the center. They're not alignment. He's in the backfield. He's like, what, Yeah,
if it's gonna be that strict, dude, they're gonna be
a lot. There'll be more penalties this year than ever.
They're right tackle for Kansas City, I think was Kansas
City the rookie led league and penalties last year was seventeen.

(09:40):
Ronnie Stanley's a fourth of the way there by the
end of the first quarter uarter. It's like, dude, you
keep doing this, you'll have forty penalties by week three.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
And there's that and then this stupid quote unquote dynamic kickoff.
Eleven kickoffs last night, nine touchbacks.

Speaker 6 (09:58):
It's embarrassing. We we once again cooled with Oh, we're
worried about player safety, but you but you know what,
We're gonna have a game. I guess what a team's
gonna do. On Sunday, they're gonna play and then they're
gonna whether it's this Sunday, then next Thursday, they're gonna
play again. Yeah, well, we care about your your health,
but we're gonna run your ass out there four days
later after you've been in a physical fistfight with another team.

(10:20):
But we don't want kickoffs because you know what, you
might get hurt. We know it's a physical game. When
has the NFL ever cared about health. It's it's for
the optics while follow the money trail. That's why we play.
They're gonna get eighteen games eventually, and they're gonna keep
playing them and keep playing them and keep playing them.
And they're gonna tell you and it's like we're sending

(10:40):
people to Brazil. Now. I love Brazil, love it. But
they're telling everybody stay in their hotel because it's dangerous. Oh,
don't worry about the concussion, but what if somebody get shot.
They they told players not to bring their families. That's
exactly right. But we're gonna go play. So you think
that's just because we want to. We want to just
u we care about our players and we want Brazilians
to to realize about football. Yeah we do. We want

(11:01):
to be a global sport. But if you're waltzing in
there for that, and that's your narrative that you've got
to sell to the player, why are we going Why
money revenue on a Friday night. We don't have Friday
night NFL football we do now, right, Okay, Yeah, but hey, listen,
if you walk like down the street and could be

(11:22):
a brazil A drug cartel, want to put bust a
cap in your ass, probably gonna get robbed, right right
or exactly, So stay home and keep your family home,
which family doesn't want to go on to breathe And
it's a business trip, but listen, for the NFL, it's
a legitimate business trip. You stay in that hotel and
we'll put security rund he but order room service. But
we'll go play football games. We care about your health.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
So eleven, like I said, eleven kickoffs last night. Nine
of them were touched. Why is Devin Hester in the
Hall of Fame because of kickoffs? Normal kick off?

Speaker 6 (11:51):
And now he's explosive, but he doesn't sniffet it as
a wide receiver. Wasn't John Harbaugh a special teams guy
where he started? He was Andy Reid special team's coach.
Went from special teams coach to head coach, and which
doesn't happen very often.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
So he's got to watch that BS and I can
guarantee it now.

Speaker 6 (12:05):
I don't. I haven't sell with John in one of
those committee meetings, but I would imagine he hates it
now he loves it on the other end, So you
don't have to defend that Hester, but it just takes away.
Can you imagine if you turn Worthy into a kick
return and put the ball in his hands seven times again?
I see to me, we continue to toy with the
integrity of football at tackle. It's tackle football, man. I
know people get hurt, but I seem to think more

(12:27):
people get hurt on normal plays than special teams. Anyway,
in my career, I saw more people get hurt on
just a normal play then running down on special teams.
And when we played, you had a wedge you could
go down there and run guys to it and hold
arms and do all that crap. Now they've protected it
so much you can barely even hit the guy can't
block anywhere. But man, we don't want you to touch
the ball. You want more offense and excitement. Let move

(12:49):
him back to the twenty five or twenty and kick
it off like we used to. I got catches it
at the ten. Now you better get your ass down
there and covers coach. He's made a living doing that.
Go back to how it was, just we change in sports.
We gimmick it up because we think that's what people want,
and in truth, well people don't want to admit it.
When it comes to certain things. We like tradition. When
it comes to exactly, we do exactly. Central ruin something

(13:12):
that every single franchise, you could lose four hundred games
in a row in your franchise will be worth three
billion dollars. Yeah, okay, the NFL sometimes they just don't
get it. They changed the change, and you don't need
to do that. Yeah, we don't need to do that
all right.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Like I said, we have a packed show, a lot
of football to get into. But also these Houston Astros
they just got swept by the Cincinnati Reds. Let's look

Speaker 6 (14:38):
He going non stop show with former QB Sean Salisbury.
I thought Don Gullet was pitching last night. You know
what to do? Gary Nolan canceled the parade Raleigh Eastwick, Dude,
my pult parade is off. Let's go back and say,
did this look to you like? Bench it? Catch Rose

(15:01):
at third, Yeah, concepts on it, Short Morgan at second, yep,
Tony Perez at first, George Foster and left ye Jasar
Girana Saysar Geronimo and Kim Griffy Senior and right with
Don Gullet or Gary Nolan on the mount. I just
hope the Astros never play the Reds again. Well, if
they ever met him in a world series, we can't

(15:24):
cancel the series, right, don't even go got him one
and nothing to man, they got him one nothing the
hell like? And I think all there weren't they weren't
they all just like singles to left field? Yeah, they
got single I watched like eight innings I went to
one years ago. Is the last time they beat him?
That's what nine? Ten games, twelve games something like that?
What it is? Yeah? So it is they lost one

(15:46):
d Yeah, so you we can and Ty France, they've
stopped wearing you guys out some and he wore the
Astros out when he was in Seattle, right, I mean
I think his numbers and some we're pretty damn good too.
If I'm uh, yeah, you just just you know, walking, okay,
But homers and the rest is history. And kudos to

(16:08):
the Reds pitching staff. They're pretty damn good yesterday, weren't they.

Speaker 5 (16:13):
Ty France has a batting average in his career against
the Astros of three eighty five hits, nine homers, twenty
nine RBIs and thirty five runs scored in sixty eight
games versus the Astros in his career.

Speaker 6 (16:23):
Who's the receiver for for the Colts who tore this
team up from? Uh? You had t Y Hilton? I
know it was redundant? I mean, uh uh, what's the
word I'm looking for? Not redundant. But uh, I know
what question. I know the answer to. I'm losing. What
is it? We gotta figure this south You're you have
said it to you a million times.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
Right, Say it's not facetious, No, it's my gosh, rhetorical.

Speaker 6 (16:50):
Let's go is great job. Everybody figured it out. Say
it again. What's his name? Ti Frankle, Yeah, t y
Ty Hilton, ty Old Houston. Okay, as visitors. So there
therein lies the point. But you just the lead is
down to four and a half. I saw this movie
the other way when you were down ten. Now, after

(17:13):
all this chase and after all this ass kicking you've
done to put yourself in this position, don't do this Arizona,
and I'll tell you want to. Who's a tough out
right now? Yes, Arizona and Carol is raking as we speak.
I think in the month of August. Dude, he's been
on friggin' fire and they are getting Didn't I see

(17:34):
this movie with Arizona last year? You did with a
late push and found their way. I mean whatever, Yeah,
the wildcard, that's exactly right. They got it into the
wildcard like late in the season. Well, whatever, Tory Levolo
is doing with them there. They know how to react late.
But now it's down to four and a half. And
while I still feel comfortable, it's a little uneasy, right

(17:54):
because you knew Seattle was going to get right at
some point. So four and a half, so you don't
don't let what you did to them happen to you.
And back again, what twenty down to twenty one games
or something ran? Guess what, you got to play them all,
not not just play them all, but meaning the cliche
I'm talking about every your starting lineup got to be

(18:16):
in all of them. Agreed. Yeah, So Corbin Carrol.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
Just in the month September got an OPS of almost
nine hundred obviously just a couple of days here in
the month. He had over one thousand ops in August.
In August, Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (18:31):
He was on fire. Dyeah, he's been, he's been tearing
it up. And I heard a broadcaster he slugged seven hundred. Dude,
I'm just telling you. That's why I'm saying you don't
even have to watch his highlights, and the highlights are
coming through, is my point. And I watched with the
baseball package actually he's on fire. He had twenty four
RBIs he's on fire and eleven bombs as a as

(18:53):
a table setter type. Yeah right, yeah, I heard a broadcaster.
I won't mention any names.

Speaker 5 (19:01):
Was it Jeff Bagwell, I don't know. Maybe was his
number five in his playing career. I heard this going
into the last inning. Oh god, I was thinking to
you guys that that are frustrated with it. I heard this,
just take it one batter at a time.

Speaker 6 (19:19):
He sucks in the booth. I thought, now that is
taking me inside the club house? Was I did? I'm like,
the only reason I really paid attention because everybody's harsh.
You know, they don't they want blubber back. I get
it that he'll be back. I think this weekend, right, God,
I dude, God, he said, hey, he said, and the
truth said, fourbus that it goes because it's a slow

(19:43):
moving game. Can you take it more than one batter
at a time in baseball? No you can't. No, you can't, No,
you can't. No. I figured I'd skip I'd skip this guy.
I go to the fourth guy. I'm a lot. I mean, hey, Brian,
here's here's some deep analysis. Here's what I want you
guys to do tonight. I want the hit it. I
want the offensive lineup, not the pitcher. I want the
offensive line to take it one batter at the time.

(20:07):
Now that's deep. Can I think I can get paid
to say that?

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Oh my gosh, man, I just I I I Jeff
Bagwell as a player, Hall of famer, obviously did phenomenal
things for this team and organization as a player.

Speaker 6 (20:24):
You don't like him as a broadcast or a front
office And that's fair, it's not. It's not personally. He says,
you don't like this broadcasting. I don't And I could
use a little deeper dive than Hey, one batter time,
And I heard it wasn't bad. But I I on
one of these shows on who I say it was
last week? That drives me crazy. Oh go oh it
was over. It was over the weekend. Yeah, Danny Dorkins,

(20:46):
I know it was my guy Booger, who I love.

Speaker 7 (20:48):
I do.

Speaker 6 (20:49):
I love Booger. But he said, and it's a go
to by a lot of these guys when they don't
know what they want to say. He said, Hey, Kevin
Nagandhi tease him up and said, hey, what do they
gotta do in the second half. Just got to make
some place. That's what I promise you. Go out and
make some plays. Now what do you mean by that? Yeah, well,
you gotta make a place. I'm waiting for a guy
when he says it makes a play, Well, explain to me.

(21:10):
I want a three t Okay, make plays? Isn't that
the object of every play? Go make a play? What
do you mean how do you make those plays? What
position you're gonna put yourself in? Tell me, hey, team
me up real quick, Sewan. What do they gotta do?
Is Seawan? The y this weekend Texas against Avison.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
Yeah, the Longhorn struggling on second down, second and third
down against the run. What what's the adjustment they got
to make going into the third quarter.

Speaker 6 (21:31):
I think it's two important keys to this. First, one
play at a time, and second, you just got to
you just got to make some place, all right?

Speaker 5 (21:42):
The third quarter brought to you by Progressive right around
the corner. Dude, come on, oh thanks, thanks Salisbury. I
appreciate that, man. Yeah, I put a lot a lot
of prep into that.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
Yeah. Man, The key though, remembers make some place.

Speaker 5 (21:59):
He really said, taking one pitch at a time, one
batter at the time, one battery I pitched it was
one battered time and then hey, thanks you place.

Speaker 6 (22:07):
Okay, I love booger, but that was a deep dive,
thanks buddy. Yeah. I tweeted it out after the game yesterday.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
I said, take Jeff Bagwell out of the broadcast booths
and the ashros don't get swept by the reds.

Speaker 6 (22:15):
Oh come on, he ain't that bad? What could you
imagine going to do gab're blade with the broadcaster for
the long Yeah?

Speaker 5 (22:23):
I was being tongue in chief, sure, but my goodness,
it's like, you know, the old cliche saying nails on
a chalkboard was worse than that.

Speaker 6 (22:31):
Yeah, it was taken. I always take it, you know.
At a time, I always say, just tell me something,
just just just teach me a little bit. Yeah, we're you.

Speaker 5 (22:40):
Know, I'm surprising gonna say something along the lines. Yeah,
we're gonna pay Bregmant half a billion dollars?

Speaker 6 (22:46):
Am I paying half a billion? Could? No? I don't
think they're gonna do that. They might, though, who knows? Actually? Yeah,
doubt it though.

Speaker 5 (22:53):
All right, let's keep talking about these astros. Hunter Brown
continued to pitch extremely well, but where was the offense?
We'll discuss next right here on Sports Talk to seven
ninety Men's t Clinic. Fellas, this is for you. Stop
waiting around, drop your pride. If you feel terrible during
the day, you have terrible workouts, you can't sleep at night,

(23:15):
you're struggle in the bedroom. Whatever the case is, you're
probably struggling from low testosterone. It happens especially after the
age of thirty. So find a men's tea clinic location
right here in the city. There's five of them, and
go get your blood drawn. It only takes ten minutes
to get that blood drawn and get your results back.
And if you have low testosteron, then you're gonna get
put on a total wellness optimization plan. I went through

(23:38):
the exact same process and it changed my life for
the better. I had brain fog every single day for
a while, and I couldn't figure out what was going on.

Speaker 6 (23:46):
My workouts were staggnant. I just couldn't figured it out.

Speaker 5 (23:49):
When gamma blood drawn had low testosteron, boom Total one
is optimization plan and the brain fog was gone in
two weeks. Like I said, five locations right here in
the City, the Heights, parentl Opacity in a side person Spring,
dedicated providers, convenient clinic hours, cash and insurance options makes
it easy to get in, get out and get back
to being you. And total wellness optimization is one call
away one eight hundred two four six low T one

(24:11):
eight hundred two four six low T. You can get
in there and get your testosterone levels checked. They've also
got weight and muscle mass goals, sexual wellness, and so
much more.

Speaker 6 (24:23):
Men's Teaclinic dot Com. Tell them that Brian Leemas sent
you and.

Speaker 4 (24:27):
We've The Shawn Salisbury Show continued Fight Song Friday, Dog.

Speaker 5 (24:53):
I don't care if you're a Florida State alumni or
not that that'll get you jacked up.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
Yes it Wheel, I'm probably underrated, and they talk about
the best ones, really good, better than their team right now.

Speaker 5 (25:06):
Unfortunately, did you no there there was uh there was
a Florida State account yesterday on Twitter that was out
at their practice and they showed the three quarterbacks working out,
and of course they found the one time where DJ

(25:29):
just they were practicing like little passes off into the
flat to their running backs and DJ just absolutely airmailed
one from like seven yards away and then his two
backup quarterbacks like hit them, hit the guys righting right
in stride, and that's the one they decided to post.

Speaker 6 (25:46):
Of course, it is like.

Speaker 5 (25:49):
This is so unfair, even though I look, DJ has
not played well for the first.

Speaker 6 (25:53):
Two games, he's been averaged mid he's been average, But
of course they post that. And when you're zero and
two and your quarter play an average and you went
and got him for the reason of of uh elevating. Yeah,
if this continues, they will make a change. Oh yeah,
that's that's guys. They'll start to say, we got a
plan for the future, and we got to find to
our future quarterbacks. It's not just DJ, trust me. They're

(26:15):
just not playing great football anyway. But they are not
a threat to anybody right now when it comes to
a playoff. So but good that good fight song too, Yeah,
really really good?

Speaker 5 (26:23):
Uh, speaking of playoffs, the playoffs in Major League Baseball,
right around the corner, Astros fall to the Reds. They
get swept, they lose one to nothing. Hunter Brown pitched
well again six innings, did not give up a run
obviously with them losing one to nothing, excuse me, six innings,
four hits, no runs, one walk, six k's, ninety seven pitches.

Speaker 6 (26:45):
I mean, what else do you want?

Speaker 5 (26:47):
And then then you give it over to Brian and
Bray You one inning, two hits, one earned run, giving
up a bomb which was a solo.

Speaker 6 (26:57):
I mean, what else can you ask for?

Speaker 4 (26:59):
Right?

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Your starter? Yeah, I'm not mad at a Bray. You
the guy that hit the ball of the park's been
pretty good, right, I mean it happens, but you give
up one run. As a pitching staff, you expect to
win every every time, every time.

Speaker 5 (27:13):
And Brian Brad, I don't know what's going on with
Brian Brady, but he has not been good lately.

Speaker 6 (27:17):
He's been let's see in Uh, it's a little it's
a little uncomfortable, nervous. August. What do you think is
e er A was five point four five.

Speaker 5 (27:27):
Close, six point zero eight good so far in September
four point five.

Speaker 6 (27:35):
He has not been good late. Now you're really gonna
need him down to get back to dominating.

Speaker 5 (27:39):
Right, Yeah, especially when your starter goes six? Is that
what we said with this trio? Absolutely starters get to six.
Brian Brady the seventh, Bryan Pressey the eighth, Josh eight,
to the ninth, right.

Speaker 6 (27:55):
Isn't that what we planned on?

Speaker 5 (27:56):
Yeah, give the ball to Brian and bray you and
he gives up another bomb just to that. He just
has not been good here lately, like at all. I
mean he's given up, like I said, a six point
zero eight e ra A in August and then coming
into September, just a couple outings so far, but still
he gets the lost yesterday. It's kind of frustrating, you know,

(28:18):
just we're coming here down the stretch. I get you're
you're still a little bit comfortable with this lead. A
four and a half isn't enough for me, just not enough.
I just I don't like it.

Speaker 6 (28:30):
I mean, and tell me the last time, if you
if you'd say, if I told you you'll give your
pitching staff will give up one run, it'll be a
solo home run, what would you have said going into
a game? Oh, I still won't win, right, Yah. Wasted
pitching performance yesterday, Hunter Brown pitched well.

Speaker 5 (28:47):
Yeah, offense just I think I think I have yeah,
seven left on base for the Astros.

Speaker 6 (28:53):
Yesterday. Offense just was just didn't get it done at all.

Speaker 5 (28:57):
They had four hits, four of them, and uh, Jamie
Penney had two of them, al Tuova had the other.
Chas McCormick had the other. Chasmo get a give it
up for Chasmo getting the average up over two hundred?

Speaker 6 (29:10):
Are you uh?

Speaker 5 (29:13):
Why are you all over chi Chuck? Oh, I'm just
giving him his props. Man got his average up over
two hundred. That's you know, Mendoza line. Come on, man, Yeah, well.

Speaker 6 (29:26):
You feel good about Chasmo? Sure don't. You're done with him?
You're still done with Chuck Man. Tough? Do you got some?
There's some tough, tough sledging going on around here.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
Tell you what, though, Heyrhet louder Man. Gotta give it
up for uh the Reds six and a third, four hits,
no runs, four walks, and they.

Speaker 6 (29:44):
Got a really good bullpen going on last night too,
or yesterday afternoon. They made him look like a cy
young guy. Ye, so it's pretty impressive.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
Now you gotta welcome in the Diamondbacks, who are playing
good baseball, and and when you look at the standings
for them, obviously they're not winning the NL West, but
they are in second place for the NL wild Card.
They're seventy nine and sixty two Corman Carroll swinging the
bat really really well. I guess who does Seattle have next? Seattle?

(30:18):
The Mariners. Yeah, I'm gonna pull that up real quick.
Seattle's five out of the wild card. They got the Cardinals.
They're in Saint Louis tonight.

Speaker 6 (30:29):
Okay, So in St. Louis for a three gamer. Here
for three gamer against Arizona. Yep.

Speaker 8 (30:35):
So the.

Speaker 6 (30:38):
Mariners have three at Saint Louis.

Speaker 5 (30:41):
Then they go back home for a two game stand
against the Padres. Then they host the Arrangers, the Yankees
at Texas at Houston versus Oakland. So I'm not too
bad of a schedule for them.

Speaker 6 (30:56):
What do you think is gonna end up? Is it
a last series of the season, win the division, last
two series similar to last year. I think it'll come
I don't think it'll be a tie. They won't have
to win five or six.

Speaker 5 (31:07):
No, but I think it'll come down to that last
that second to last series for the Astros is against Seattle.
That's going to be a massive series, especially if it's
within four games.

Speaker 6 (31:20):
Yeah. So, and they get it down to a game
and then you got it. Then the stress levels kick
in and you got to you got to you'll.

Speaker 5 (31:25):
Be tested because Arizona playing really good baseball.

Speaker 6 (31:30):
Oakland.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
What everything we've made about the Oakland A's, they are
one of the hottest teams, the two hottest teams since
the All Star Break Astros Oakland.

Speaker 6 (31:37):
A's Diamondbacks playing good baseball and right now, uh and
the Oakland A's for all they're nobody's showing up and
doing that. Those guys are a tribute to them to
show up. Can you imagine every single day having to
play to an empty I mean, and they're just they're
just doing what Oakland does. If I'm not getting in,
I'm gonna do everything I can to prevent you from
getting in. Right, Yeah, I mean, good on them though

(32:00):
it'd be easy. He's knowing that, I mean, this will last.
What we're down to the final few games in Oakland,
Allo meet to count I mean in that coliseum. Yeah,
because they're going to play at a smaller ballpark next
year in Sacramento. That's right. And then there were a
couple of year or two I mean a couple of
years removed from what were we three years removed or
two years removed from having it done. I think it's
twenty ballpark so and I that I can't wait. Yeah,

(32:21):
so three years maybe twenty twenty eight season is when
it kicks in. But uh, this is it and it's
been a hell of a run. But it's a run
that had to end. It's pretty crazy. Yeah, it's pretty
crazy to think about. All right, let's continue to talk.

Speaker 5 (32:34):

This Sean Salisbury Show continues to continue.

Speaker 9 (35:04):
You know about pig sewing.

Speaker 6 (35:08):
I swear every five song just makes you want to
clap fat little hog back, Yeah, Jerry Jones. Yeahs where
you could safely refer to somebody as in, I'll tell
you what they're really good hogs got They got a
bunch of big hogs up front. It's no problem on

(35:31):
a TV pro. Hey man, look at those five hogs. Wow,
every one of those hogs up front is three hundred
plus pounds. Damn a big hog. Not only long, it's
thick too. I'm talking about the line, I.

Speaker 9 (35:45):
Know, long line.

Speaker 6 (35:47):
You know you don't want a two hudred and seventy
five pounds attack. You want them thick, right, Yeah, you
know what I'm saying. Two seeds yeah, you want them.
You want them tall and right and thick. So what
is that long and thick? Reach?

Speaker 10 (35:58):
Right?

Speaker 6 (35:58):
You wanted to have length out right? Well, you want
to like because you want your left tackle to get
his hands on a pass us. Those guys always look
for guy who can you know, punch yea, give a
little ground, keep punching, so you can't let him get
into your body. And that's why I'm being long and
then thick where they can't get around.

Speaker 5 (36:14):
Yeah, you can't can't get around it, right, you can't
be a punch and judy.

Speaker 6 (36:17):
Oh yeah, yeah, seeing I single. Yeah, you can't be
doing that guy, you know, so I just them hogs. Now,
I'm telling you kind of like the Astros. Have you
ever been a game in Fayville?

Speaker 5 (36:26):
No, but I've been. I've been a baseball game. We've
one of my Bandido teams played at the stadium on
the campus the University of Arkansas.

Speaker 6 (36:34):
Fayetteville is beautiful. Yeah, fun times, man, beautiful. Yeah, it's
a good and they love their football and uh I
love it, man. I think it's an under under rae.
They didn't get the love in the SEC when it
comes to the crowd and getting after it that that
it should. You know, Knoxville does in Alabama the obvious ones,
but Dan l s U. But I think Arkansas rolls
in a little underrated and that fight song has got

(36:55):
a little energy to it. Yeah, okay, you got your
Florida State or ARC and so you got to choose one.
Rate Florida State fair enough. Sorry cut you off as
fortune so I knew where you were going with That's fine.
I agree. I don't think many unless you're a razorback grad.
Probably Florida State probably, and even some of them might say.
I mean, I love my SC fight song, but hard
when Michigan's fight songs rocking, that's a that's a tough

(37:18):
one to beat. Notre Dames is awesome. Ohio, there's some
good ones, really good ones. I think Texas you love
SC the best, No, not the best.

Speaker 11 (37:26):
No.

Speaker 6 (37:26):
I like Soul Raw State, however, well the soul ra
State put some respect.

Speaker 5 (37:31):
Yeah, I still want to know who who adjusted your
Wikipedia page?

Speaker 6 (37:35):
Really upsets me? Why are you so? Why are you
bricked up over that? I don't I haven't logged on
too Wikipedia in my life. I'm not saying you did it, no,
but I'm i don't. That's I don't pay attention to it.
You know I do. You do know it? I do?
When I want information. That's the last place i'd go
for somebody is because who are you can put anything
in there? You can't. I mean that I don't. That's

(37:55):
what I don't understand. And then it's your page. But
Harry Hatchet asked, can go in and say you didn't
go to Soul Ross State? H it right? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (38:04):
Are you speaking of my lobos? We head over to
Eastern New Mexico. No shot tomorrow night. You guys got
seven pm under the lights.

Speaker 6 (38:11):
You guys got no shot chance of going winless this
year for sold D Soul Ross State man jumping.

Speaker 5 (38:16):
Going from D three to D two man, that's a
big step, especially in the lone Star Conference.

Speaker 6 (38:20):
There's some big boys over there going from what D
three to D two?

Speaker 5 (38:23):
Yeah, so our first year in Division two man lone
Star Conference has got some really talented athletic programs, sure do.

Speaker 6 (38:29):
Eastern New Mexico is not very good though. I do
want to just wish you guys luck. We want to
slap around those greyhounds. You know what I mean good luck?
Is that who they are the east East Eastern New
Mexico greyhoundshounds. Yeah, where are they? Where are they at?
Eastern New Mexico? Eastern Mexicos? What's the city?

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (38:43):
East? Is it better than the Pine? Probably not? Who
pulls more dudes from Soul? Ross? Dues from east? Uh?
Eastport Port Dallas, New Mexico? So East? Why do you
have to say it like that because that's how it's pronounced.
Go ahead, triple hit it. Say it again. It's Brian Portalas.
You gotta roll those art Dallas, New Mexico. You just

(39:05):
can't say like Portalis, No port Dallas, Oh down, say Houston? Houston? Okay,
down is a Portalis por Dallas? Gotta be racist? You've
already you've already stuck them by the border, and you
don't even know if they're by the border, by the
way you said to Portalis, No, they're like up in
the north north. Okay? How would you say Chula Vista
is down by the border in San Diego. That's a

(39:26):
true la Vista, not just Cheu la Vista? Right, So
you guys could get boat raced. Doubt it. So who
pulls more dudes from Soul Roster Sol Ross State from
the Pine. Guys from the Pine. When they roll up
in a bar for East New Mexico State or is
it just Eastern New Mexican New Mexico University? They roll up,
who's pulling more? Look?

Speaker 5 (39:47):
Man, I'm just gonna keep it real with you. Probably
Eastern New Mexico. I went to school with some dirty dudes,
like so, like like there was my baseball team, not
my teammates.

Speaker 6 (40:00):
Well, you probably had a dirty due. Probably you're not
gonna sell him out. Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm
gonna have to. I don't know about now over there
on that campus, but at the watering Hole, you're deferend
in Eastern New Mexican. I'm gonna have to.

Speaker 5 (40:14):
I love my lobos, but man, I I remember what
it was like to be around some of those guys.

Speaker 6 (40:19):
Not good. There's a rodeo team out there as well.
Yeah yeah, I was just curious who pulls more? And
you deferred. That's like if you said, Sean, who pulls more?
Guys from USC or U c l A. Uh huh.
If we all walk into a bar, Hey, two teams
walk into a bar, stop it, it's probably U c
l A. Right, Yeah, sure, it is okay a cream

(40:43):
abdul Jabari and walking in that bar. Okay, he's not okay,
John Wooden, God rest his soul. What's his name? Kevin Love?
Kevin Love might be walking in might he pulled? Probably pull?
You know that beard pulls? Right? Yeah, well, you want
to start naming names of might pull from our campus. No,
it's not.

Speaker 5 (40:59):
All you gotta do is bring in Matt Liner and
he's pulling everybody to move.

Speaker 6 (41:02):
Whoa whoa Maddy ball game? Yeah? Good to be the
quarterback at SC would you know all too well? Good
to be And you could be a mullion. You know
what a mullion is, just a you could you could be.
You could be look like Spencer, you could look like
Carson Back, could look like you make a skunk's butt pucker?

(41:22):
Do you still pull?

Speaker 5 (41:23):
You know Carson Beck is now dating one of the
Cavender twins. Carson Beck is might be one of the
him and Spencer rally. You put those two dude, those
those two dudes together, my god, and they're still pulling.

Speaker 6 (41:34):
Yeah. Have you seen the Cavendar Twins? Yeah? Holy? And
you know what it pays to be tall quarterback at
Georgia what in national titles that you're going to be
possibly the first or third pick or second pick of
the draft. It's good to be him back to USC
U c l A, Okay, when do they play this year?
Who cares? No, I'm kidding, I but you really want

(41:56):
to know, Pulls. I think you know that answer, right.
I guess it depends on if the ladies just looking
for some you know U c L A model. He
kind of goofy, but you see Beck though, dog Yeah,
well good for him. Yeah, because it is a good thing.
You mentioned Matt Line. It's it's not a bad deal
to be the quarterback at USC. No, it's not a

(42:16):
bad gig. Probably I would know, but it feels feels
that way.

Speaker 5 (42:19):
I just feel like it's probably a good thing to
be the starting quarterback at any major division one.

Speaker 6 (42:26):
I could argue that if they're putting top ten positions
to want to be in college sports, if you're talking
about all the fun stuff, Yeah, being Matt Line or
be a quarterback US, he wasn't a bad gig. Probably
it probably doing a pinch. It works outside your own
university too, I assume a right. Allegedly, Yeah, Lelie can't

(42:47):
confirm I can neither confirm, nor do not nor did I,
but I'm gonna let you do your own research on that. Yeah,

Show as the NFL season kicked off. Seven one three
two one two five seven ninety is the number to
join us. Talker Roger Roger, good morning.

Speaker 13 (44:52):
Good morning, gentlemen. Just real quick, I just was amazed
by how Jose Rio, Eric Davison, Chris stable as dispatched
our astros yesterday. I mean there was a complete sweep
and uh, those middling teams that we're about to play,
just like the ones we just lost to, are the
ones we're gonna have to watch out for, man, because
those teams have nothing to play for and everything the game, man.

(45:14):
So that's that's that's that's the team the teams that
I was dreading the most. And you know, we do
good against a higher level competition as always. Look at
the rings, man, I just we just cannot get over
this hump with these teams.

Speaker 7 (45:28):
Man.

Speaker 13 (45:29):
But no, no, no weather, no wife, honey, dudes or
anything that you know, you know, throw shade on this weekend, man,
opening weekend. Looking at this word what a game, man,
xavier' worthy on you? It is gonna be at just
uh man, it's gonna be hard to unseat these guys.
I think marn injury man, and these Chiefs just keep
on rolling, man, And it's really all I had. Johnson

(45:52):
and guys have a good weekend, and uh see you
next time.

Speaker 6 (45:56):
Appreciate your brother, Thank you good stuff.

Speaker 5 (46:00):
You know, with the uh Kansas City Chiefs, they the
parallels between them and the Astros are pretty uh pretty
crazy if you think about it.

Speaker 6 (46:10):
Oh, you mean the winning part of it, yeah, no doubt,
no question. You know super Bowl, I mean five is
it four or five straight? A l I mean AFC
championships for the Chiefs, two straight Super Bowls. They keep
winning divisions. Oh, they're they're locked in the difference is
the Chiefs super Bowl success is a little better right now?

(46:31):
I think, Well, let's see, the ass was one two
and the Chiefs what they've won four total? But under
mahomes reign, they've been to three and he's won or
has he been to four?

Speaker 14 (46:41):
One?

Speaker 6 (46:41):
Three? But has he won three Super Bowls already? He
won back to Bay? Did he win one earlier in
his career? Aren't we on three super Bowl wins for
Mahomes already been to four? Let's see if I'm I'm
pretty sure because Andy's got five four or five four
super Bowl wins now? Or three? Three super Bowl wins?

(47:01):
He got three all of them in Kansas City, right
because he didn't win one and Philly win but didn't
win one. Let's see Patrick Mahomes a three time super
Bowl champions, so and he's got three as well, and
multiple super Bowl winners. There's only there's only a handful
of them. And when it comes to head coaches like
the three or more but Mahomes, that is a there's

(47:22):
no doubt that this guy's not done. And anybody who
thinks the windows closed the wind is not even close
to being closed. So it's a guys, just a big
time player, man, and this is a great franchise. But
you're exactly right. The parallels of winning, of continuity, of
losing somebody and still being able then the similarities of

(47:43):
losing some stars and still being able to do it.
You lose your tackles and what you know, the only
Super Bowl they lost was when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
got him and they're both there, left and right tackle,
we're out.

Speaker 5 (47:54):
Yeah, and but they and know by the way they
were playing Tom Brady and then you.

Speaker 6 (47:58):
Lose Tyreek Hill and all that, and you you'll continue
to like losing Springer or losing Corea or losing Garrett Cole,
you still continue to thrive. Yeah, it's pretty impressive, Pretty
damn impressive.

Speaker 5 (48:09):
Yeah, when you look at you know, the success of
the Astros getting to all these alcs's and all the
excuse me, the World Series appearances that they've had over
the last you know, twenty seventeen, obviously lost to the
Red Sox in the ALCS in twenty eighteen, lost to
the Nationals in the World Series in twenty nineteen, even
getting to the ALCS in the COVID season losing to

(48:30):
the Braves in twenty twenty one, winning the World Series
in twenty twenty two.

Speaker 6 (48:34):
Obviously, last year they lost to the.

Speaker 5 (48:37):
To the Rangers in the ALCS in Game seven, and
then just the Chiefs getting to the AFC title game.
Damn near every single freaking year. It's just crazy. You
try to underseat the Astros and you try to unseat
the Chiefs. It's just how it goes, especially in the AL.
For the Astros, they're the they run the AL. It
always runs through them.

Speaker 6 (48:55):
Yep. At some point in time, neither of these teams
are gonna make the playoffs. When's that gonna be there?

Speaker 5 (49:01):
I don't have any That's why I said so, I
don't know. At some point in time, miss when when
is somebody? Honestly, when when are people going to stop
the Chiefs?

Speaker 6 (49:08):
Well, even if they don't win the division, do you
tell me they're not gonna win enough games to make
the playoffs? The Astros? No, the Chiefs? Yeah, And with
the Astros, I I don't know. I mean, you're down
ten games, you're not playing, you got eight million injuries,
and you're still four and a half in front of
first place. I don't know. When they're windows closing.

Speaker 5 (49:27):
Because you look at the arms that they have, these
this rotation with all the guys that are hurt that
will be ready to go for spring training. And then
you have guys like Spencer Orghetti who's pitched you could
trade some for assets too, right exactly, like, well, he's
gonna be ready late in the season next year. But still,
I mean there are guys like JP France is going
to be coming back, right, Hunter Brown will be uh

(49:49):
one of your top dudes? Who knows if they go
sign Usay Kakuchi again, I mean, the dude, this this
this the rotation for the Astros. They're gonna have like
eight guys vying for five spots.

Speaker 6 (49:57):
Right now, Let's push it forward a little bit and
we say, okay, can you continue to lose good players
and keep this pace up right? And so far the
answer has been yes. Now we push to what's next?
And what's next? Three names that stick out is going
to be Tucker eventually from er Valdez yep and Bregman. Now,

(50:19):
what did Matt Chapman get? He got six for one
point fifty one, so twenty five plus a year, right,
all right, So we thought the Bregman in the thirties.
Can you keep Bregman here for twenty seven million a year?

Speaker 5 (50:37):
I think, now, yeah, Matt Chapman's a gold glove and
he's the reason. He is the sole reason why Bregman
doesn't win gold Gloves is because of Matt Chapman. Becausettchapman continues,
he's not exactly a hack at to play, no, and
he's a little bit up in age. I think I
think he's thirty four and Bregman's what thirty?

Speaker 6 (50:55):
All right, So we got to the point now that Bregman,
we just got to know, even though Boris is an agent,
that you're not getting thirty million a year or somebody
canna pay that match. Excuse me, Matt Chapman's thirty one.
Somebody gonna pay it for thirty.

Speaker 5 (51:09):
Now that I see that Matt Chapman got twenty five,
That's my point.

Speaker 6 (51:13):
I don't think he's getting thirty not here? No, can
he stay here? I mean we talk about a hometown discount.
Is three million that he's like taking twenty if he's
between twenty five and twenty eight, Let's just say, right,
is that enough to keep him here? If somebody offered
him thirty What do he stay or is he gonna

(51:34):
go to where the last milk?

Speaker 11 (51:35):
The two?

Speaker 6 (51:35):
I mean, just completely squeeze everything out of the turn
if you can. And if it's twenty eight here and
twenty nine somewhere else or twenty seven here and twenty
nine somewhere else, is he staying? Do you believe he's
a hometown discount guy Louisiana lsu been here, married kid,
born here. You know, I'm sure he's got a crib here.

(51:56):
I'm sure he lives in a home. I mean, I'm
not a condo but a home. Just so set root here.
I do you go play in Boston? Do you go
play somewhere else for twenty nine when you know what
the comfort level is here? Or are you ready for
a change? And does the extra for six years two
million a year which is twelve million bucks significant? Yeah?
With people say what's the difference, Well, I can tell

(52:18):
you the difference. It's called twelve million dollars pretty good
way to just twelve twelve million loan is a good
way to find a retirement. So if there's two million
a year difference over six years, worse stand, I don't
think so is it would.

Speaker 5 (52:31):
You, I would have to take a step back, and
I would have to look at the state of the team.
You still got out to ve, you got your don
Kyle Tucker at least for a couple more or a
year or so. What is the realistic, the realistic probability
of getting back to an alcs and World Series? And
for me, I would that matter? I would take that's

(52:52):
worth two million a year exactly. Then you look at
the state of the rotation, how many guys are going
to be coming back, how many guys just.

Speaker 6 (52:57):
Your comfort level with fans, and your improvement investments in
locally and you know, and all the stuff he's doing,
you know, if you're involved in restaurants. I'm not saying
he just anything just to be a part of it.
Sometimes the grass and we've heard this is not greener.
And sometimes it's like I'll take the comfort. I would
imagine between heb and all the things he does here,
you can make up a little extra coin, I imagine,

(53:18):
just may And how much of impact does a wife
have or input on what going right? That's why I'm saying.
And your child's here young enough that you can move
A kid won't know, but I I'm just curious about
when does that kick in for emotion. I wonder how
many people and regardless, well, what's one hundred million or
one hundred and twelve? Man, I'm just telling you, I
know in those locker rooms it's twelve million dollars and

(53:39):
after taxes what seven millions years? So people start to
think about that. But is a chance at four more
World Series runs worth it? This will be his last
big contract, monster contract mixed with years, so you can't
blame forgetting what he wants. But are we to the
point now where say you lean more to stay or go? Yeah?

(54:01):
I think with with the Matt chapmanbody else.

Speaker 5 (54:04):
Will play pay him more. Some other city, oh yeah,
will pay him more. Twenty five point one for Chapman
per year.

Speaker 6 (54:10):
I can't expect there that they think that Bregman's worth
five more million a year than Chapman. I can't. I can't,
He's no, I don't think so. Twenty seven, twenty eight depending.
It takes the one guy making decision to love you
in that city, right, that's all it takes. Right. Chapman's
a hell of a player. Bregman's a hell of a player.
I just wonder if he says, you know, I offered more,
but I'm staying here. Yeah, I would think he's gonna

(54:32):
get that chance. Yeah, because he's both are gonna happen.
He's gonna get offered a certain amount of money and
he's gonna get offered more somewhere else. Yeah, there's no question.
There you go.

Speaker 5 (54:39):
So what's see how that pans out? All right, let's
get to the stake out next right here on Sports seven. Pam, Oh,
it's like comb pans out or Pam's Yes, it's like, oh,
it's like comb Pam. Yeah, are you saying, Pam, Oh, it's.

Speaker 6 (54:57):
It's like com pam.

This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 6 (56:26):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?

Speaker 3 (56:29):
The Salisbury stakeouts, Salsbury takeout on the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 5 (56:46):
Welcome back to the Sean Salisbury show time for the
steakout seven one, three, two five seven ninety is and
never to join. Let's get out to the phone lines. Jen,
you're up first, Good.

Speaker 15 (56:56):
Morning, Hey, good morning, Brian, John you're doing I just wanted.

Speaker 6 (57:01):
To buddy good to talk to you in a minute.
It's nice to have you back on.

Speaker 15 (57:05):
Oh Dad, thank you man. That scouting report on typhe France, whoever,
whoever get to put it together, they need to fire
him and they need to burn that, uh that scouting
report and uh the astros can the pitchers can feel
free to maybe throw a pitch inside to him. I

(57:26):
went back and I looked at all of his bats
at bat, you know, because he went nine for eleven
in the series, and everything was where he was able to,
you know, uh, extend his arms. Nothing inside. They didn't
pitch him inside at all. So really that I just
won't say hello and quick comment. I appreciate him.

Speaker 6 (57:46):
Thank you, Jan good point. Yeah that that you probably
the next time they pitch him, if they run into
him again sometime along the line in his career, I
would imagine Jen, you're right that that won't be the
game plan. Put him on first base or pound him inside,
but don't let him extend and fatten it up. And
he did, and he squared it up a whole bunch,
and as always against the Astros, hit almost three fifty.

(58:08):
As a matter of fact, if you can find a way,
if he comes available in free agency, you can trade
for him. Do that? Do that have him hit for
you instead of against you. Let's talk to Holly.

Speaker 10 (58:17):
Good morning, Holly, Good morning guys, Happy Friday and happy
NFL weekend.

Speaker 6 (58:22):
Woo, there you go.

Speaker 10 (58:24):
I just wanted to say, now that we know that
Alex has these grimlins and his elbow bone, spurs, bone chips,
whatever it may be, how much is this going to
affect his negotiations in the off season, because obviously he's
going to have to have some type of surgery on that.
I don't know how big of a surgery this is
or what kind of recovery it is involved, but do
you think it's going to be something that other teams

(58:45):
can hold against them?

Speaker 6 (58:47):
I absolutely do. Don't you. I don't know if they will,
but I think you when it's that kind of money, Holly,
don't you think about it. Okay, we want this guy
hell of a player. We don't just want him for
his bat because he's really good that we want him
because he's a gold Glove potential guy at third base.
And if all of a sudden, it says, man, this
is gonna link if he doesn't have surgery, guess what
the answer the question is going to be, Well, is

(59:08):
it going to linger? Is it healed? If he does
have surgery, Well, man, is this a wait and see
and now the heal You're not gonna wait till the
healing process is over because you'd miss out on signing him.
Or does he sign first, get surgery? Second, does he
not get surgery and say he's just gonna let time
and it heals. O. I don't know how severe it
is for him. He's still playing, so obviously he's playing

(59:28):
through it. I don't know. Let's say Holly, you and
I you're you're the owner and I'm the general manager,
and we come together and say, man, he wants thirty
one million dollars thirty million dollars a year, I don't
know what would you pay it for six seven years?

Speaker 15 (59:42):
No back?

Speaker 10 (59:43):
I would come back with, hey, you we know what
you got going on in your elbow. We'll pay you
twenty five or that type of surgery.

Speaker 6 (59:48):
I think what you're gonna get, Holly, You'll get some
doing that exact thing that you talked about. And there
may be one who says, I can see you know
that forest through the trees and say, I'm he's worth
taking the risk. That'll now you know who's gonna have
the most inside information is this team, so they'll know.
So if he hasn't had surgery and they say six years,
twenty seven million a year, maybe it's they get out

(01:00:10):
in front of it because maybe there is that trepidation
for him and Boris saying, well, man, what are other
people gonna think? But Boris will do is due diligence.
So that's where that's where the astros with their information
can slide in and try to get this done sooner
than later if that's what they want to do. But
if they don't make him a legitimate offer that we
all think, maybe is that twenty five to twenty eight Holly?

(01:00:31):
What would that tell you? If you're an opposing team,
something's wrong, right? Wouldn't it tell you if they say,
now we're not offering him twenty seven million? If you're
another team, would you say that report there you go.
So he's that's something that that that lingering part and
now with the end of the season, you don't have
time to go get surgery. Now you got to play
through this. So it put it this way for him,

(01:00:54):
it's the bad timing award. He'll still get paid, but
will it be four million different with one year less
on a contract. I'm with you, I think you have
to tread lightly, but you're gonna have to do it
fairly urgently if you're going to try to if you're Bregmann,
but also if you're them, and Bregman may end up
being an earlier signing than we think, and it may
be here if they they you know, if it.

Speaker 10 (01:01:13):
Might help our chances to signing. He's got going on
in there.

Speaker 6 (01:01:19):
Yeah, that's exactly right. It's it's it's risky, no question.

Speaker 10 (01:01:22):
All right, thanks guys.

Speaker 6 (01:01:25):
It's a really good point. What isn't it kind of
an Astros advantage to going Okay, let's say somebody there
nobody's offering him thirty and three or four teams are
kind of waiting to see what the Astros initial offer
is and they offered twenty five. Yeah, what are they
telling you that the astros number one don't overpay, right,
but two is or if they don't even make that

(01:01:47):
kind of offer, what you know, it's a shorter term offer.
Would you, as another team say they have information about
that elbow that we're not sure about yet he's still playing.
So how severe is it? Will it need surgery? Is
it one of those that can heal with time?

Speaker 5 (01:02:00):
If it's the bone fragments gremlins, you have to clean
him out. I was gonna say, you're gonna have to
have some kind of clean like cleanup, some sort of
surgical procedure is gonna have to be done to get
rid of those bone chips.

Speaker 6 (01:02:11):
And Boris will do his due diligence on getting making
sure that people whatever that takes to protect us. And
I let him know he's gonna be fine. So and
he's not a pitcher, and which helps.

Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
And Scott Boris is he cannot afford as an agent
to have another bad off season. All of his guys
this past year of the big ones didn't get signed
until damn near halfway through spring training.

Speaker 6 (01:02:35):
Sand which means is it all with options? Is it
a player thing or is it a Boris is asking
too many? We all know he milky for every every penny.
But in Bregman's case, the last thing you want to
do is going to the off season. If you're Bregman
with that, is he healthier? Isn't he right? That's a
bummer during free agency, he's gonna have to have some
sort of cleanup regardless. So I don't know what made

(01:02:57):
or maybe the Astros get it. Maybe the Astros get
a headstar on it and say if we offer him
twenty seven, we get him, because nobody's gonna offer him
thirty one. So who the hell knows.

Speaker 5 (01:03:05):
Yeah, it's gonna be it's gonna be interesting. Holly, yep,
all right, let's get to break. Let's talk football. Astros
got swept. We know it got to turn around tonight.
But it's football season, baby, let's talk about it.

Speaker 9 (01:03:15):
It's about time.

Speaker 6 (01:03:17):
That's coming to ruin the day. That is, Hey, country boys,
roofings there too, Country with the Cave boys, with the
Z Country boys, roofing go anywhere in Houston to make
sure you're safe, securing that roof's done right without price
gouging one thousand, five hundred off for military educators and

you mentioned my name, you get a thousand dollars off.

(01:03:39):
Now you can't go in and be military mentioned miname
get twenty five hundred off. Somebody's got to get paid, right,
but you get those great discounts when Country Boys Roofings coming.
Either take care of your roof before those storms hit

(01:04:26):

eight three two seven three one fifty six twenty eight
three two seven three one fifty six twenty get her done.

Speaker 4 (01:04:35):
We're out there, The Shawn Salisbury Show continued. Who do

(01:05:41):
we have right there? Tripley? Sorry, I had a little
issue with my microphone.

Speaker 6 (01:05:44):
Who was that?

Speaker 5 (01:05:46):
Baylor Baylor, Baylor Bears fights on Friday? Sorry, we were
having just like sick sick all right, that's what they
say it Baylor David Randy, He's gonna have to figure
out this year, buddy, where he's gone.

Speaker 6 (01:05:59):
See later. BILLI Napier as well.

Speaker 5 (01:06:03):
Do you see what billiy Napier did, called out his
own damn fan base.

Speaker 6 (01:06:06):
It's always you're all wrong when you do that. That's
you never win with that. It's hard you cheer for us?
Why booon us? When you start to bring the fans
into your criticism at a press conference? It never works.
I like Billy I do. But you can't win that battle.
Why because one they start to think your soft while
you got rabbit ears, go coach your football. What do

(01:06:28):
you care? Every fan base in the country at some
point in time boozer can't stand their team for a minute,
for a game, for a half, or their players. But
this is big time college and if you're not doing
the job, you're gonna get hammered. But not that you're
afraid of the fan, but the battle you can't win,
namely the time when a guy's called out fans that

(01:06:48):
that's that that that's worked for them at home fans. Yeah,
it doesn't work. You can, hey, I mean, if you're
pissed and don't like them, then you know, don't talk
to them. But to it just it doesn't work. And
if you keep losing, it's not gonna work. No, So
it's just to get into that urination match doesn't usually work. Yeah,

(01:07:12):
that's honestly. With social media, it just doesn't work. And
if you're listening to it, let it go.

Speaker 5 (01:07:16):
I thought it was odd that he went what did
he say, basically like, we need to focus on you
know what our guys are saying in the locker room.
We need to focus on our own team and not
some guy in his mother's basement.

Speaker 6 (01:07:27):
Well that's kind of fair. That's a dig that he
probably could have to say in his mother's basement. Yeah,
what he could have said simply is we got to
focus on what we're doing week to week. All the
cliche stuff and we can't worry about what social media
or fans are thinking, because you know what, we're in
the building, going to work every day, and they're entitled
their opinion, which lets people know that you know that

(01:07:49):
it's there, but you're not too sensitive to it. It's
the dig. Let you and I say that fan basement,
what's that guy is? The social media guy is on
his keyboard down his basic keyboard courage. We'll say it.
As the head coach of a major college football team,
you don't win there. If he would have said, you know,
we can't worry about what the fans, what their their
opinion is, love their support, but we can't worry if

(01:08:10):
they're We're trying our every week, we're trying to win
another game and leave it at that. If one fans
pissed at you on social media, screw that fan. Who cares?
But when you get into fan in the basement and
automatically it's a dig and it's one of those you
can't resist. You just got a zip it sometimes and
leave the fans out of it. Encourage sometimes honey instead
of vinegar gets you more right. But the truth of

(01:08:31):
the matter is the fans aren't in it. We aren't
in it. We can criticize our compliment all we won't.
We don't know what goes on in there other than
the naked eye what we see. And if we're seeing poor,
poor execution, offside penalties, penalties, what's the first thing fans
are going to think? Who's the quarterback? And what's the
coach doing? Yep? And when you take on a four

(01:08:52):
million dollars a year job, fans want wins.

Speaker 5 (01:08:55):
Yeah, exactly, especially at the University of Florida. You're in Florida.

Speaker 6 (01:08:58):
Come on, man, it's a thankless I mean, it's a
great gig, it's a great career. It's a great career,
tough job. Look at Ryan Day, Yeah, dude, he doesn't
lose when when loses a game or two Macs a year,
and we're already talking about Wor's Urban Meyer at Ohio State,
if he loses to if he loses to Michigan this year,
if he lose to Michigan and they get beat in
the playoffs, to fire him, they're one hundred per fire him.

(01:09:21):
And when you look at his record, you'll say, how
did he get fired? Well at Ohio State, it's not
to get to the playoff it's to win it, right,
Kirby smart goes and doesn't make the playoff for four
straight years, you know what will happen. He's gonna get fired,
will get fired.

Speaker 5 (01:09:33):
Yeah, because that's just the pedigree of the University of Georgia.

Speaker 6 (01:09:37):
And it's and and he created it. Not since Vince
Duley have they been that good right since? But you
know what you sign up for, you sure do. But
I don't think most guys thinking for eleven and one.
I'm getting fired after four straight years eleven to one.
But at Ohio State they don't have the same expectations
at University of Arizona they do Ahio State. Now they

(01:09:58):
may say it in the locker room, but fan base
doesn't win eight games at Arizona, you keep your job
for fifteen years. Yeah. Win eight games at Ohio State
and lose to Michigan, you're out in two. But if
you get a good buyout and your Jimbo Fisher, you
get your.

Speaker 5 (01:10:12):
Life, good life, good seven seven on.

Speaker 6 (01:10:16):
He isn't never to join Tommy, Good morning.

Speaker 16 (01:10:19):
Good morning, Brian, Happy Friday to you guys. Great show
is always Hey man, what a game yesterday? They start
the season. You know, as a Texan fan. I look
at that those two teams going Monola Mono, and I say, hey, baby,
this is the hill we got to climb. I think
they're going to be up to it. It's going to
be fun to watch this year. I can't wait for

(01:10:40):
it to start. Sunday Night is going to do great.
What can I say? You know, we just see two
football teams that are at the pinnacle of where they
want to get to. I'd love to see the Detectans
be right behind then. You know, guys, uh, We're talking
about a lot of stuff this morning. I'd like to

(01:11:02):
be a guy in a room and hear someone say
to Carlos Korea, if you could go back, would you
have stayed here in Houston if they made you an
offer that you could have lived with, and have Alex
Bregman in the background listening to that response. I don't
know why Alex would like to live.

Speaker 7 (01:11:21):
I like to leave.

Speaker 16 (01:11:22):
I mean, I get it. The grass is always gleaner
on the other side, and that money is always gleaner
if you can get it. So I understand that. But
if I'm Alex Bregman, I'm looking down the road. If
I stay here, I could end up like Jeff Bagman
doing play by play in the group. I don't know
if Brian liked that, but I just think there's a

(01:11:43):
lot of reasons why Bregman should consider staying here if
they make them a good offer, and that's that's probably
what's going to have to happen.

Speaker 6 (01:11:50):
Yeah, let me leave you with this before you last way.
I'm sean, but that's okay. That is, let me leave
you with this. And I know we don't sound like
my man, Tom. If if you're corlus Kreid, don't you
think if you and I were sitting in the room, say, dude,
nobody's gonna know, tell the truth, same offer, would you
leave and come back? I don't think there's any and
I'm not saying he doesn't like Minnesota. I don't think

(01:12:12):
there's any question on the planet or any answer you'd
get other than I wish I was back. I don't
think for a second he'd go to me if the
offers were exactly the same and he could do it
over again. I think he'd take an earlier offer here
before he left, after he realized that thirty million a
year for ten years wasn't out there. Don't you think
he'd rather play here. He got more chance to win
a World Series and become a legend here than he

(01:12:33):
does there. Right now, no doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 16 (01:12:36):
It's like someone saying to you, Sean, Hey, Sean, you're
gonna have two choices when you get out of high school,
starting quarterback at USC or center field for the Yankees.

Speaker 11 (01:12:46):
Which one would you take?

Speaker 15 (01:12:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:12:48):
Oh, that's good. That's a tough one. That's a tough one. Yeah,
I get it.

Speaker 16 (01:12:52):
Hey, let me leave you with this, guys for this weekend.
I heard this on Next Up. San Northey had said this.
I didn't check because I don't think I have to.
The Colts have not won in Week one in ten years. Man,
I'd hate to be going into Indianapolis with that around
my neck. But I think the Texans are up to it.

(01:13:14):
I'm looking forward to it. Guy gets always great to
be with you. Thanks for letting me in.

Speaker 6 (01:13:20):
Great stuff by you, Tommy. Thanks man, have a good week.
And is that I didn't know that stat ten years either.
We will look that up. That's a freaking impressive, meaning
impressively bad. It's like, that's impressive. You can't it's hard
to lose ten straight openers. Yeah, at some point you'd
think they got to come out of it, but win.

(01:13:41):
Hopefully not at the expense of the Houston Texas this week. Yeah,
I don't think they. I don't think the ten and
a real good point man by staying Tom bringing that
back up. Thanks Brian, No problem, Steve. I love Tom.
What a great We don't want one thing I knows
about him. His energy never changes. Ever, love it, freaking
love it ever. Love we we are. I've been in

(01:14:03):
a lot of cities in my life and been on
shows where callers call in and sometimes it's like try
to be kind or gentler, and sometimes like no, no, no,
Well I learned from our callers. It's good, I do.
I learned some stuff from how to be patient sometimes
when we're pissed, how to be pissed when we're patient,
and everything in between. And you know what, our callers

(01:14:25):
give us more laughs than I think most callers across
the country. I'll put ours up against anybody. I agree anybody.
I enjoy all of them, all of our Thanks. Coming
to work at six in the morning easy when you
first feed, first hit the ground. Yeah, it really does.
I know it sounds like I'm not being been in
it long enough to know that I ain't got time
for for for pricks anymore. You know, when you're doing it,

(01:14:46):
be around people you like, but also people that make
you want to get out of bed and come talk
sports and entertainment and laugh. It's a pretty good gig, man,
is you know the way to go? Right side of
the dirt? See when you bury some of their six
feet on under right, Yeah, you're kind of you're kind
of well, you've never done this before, like mix your
sayings or better if you've never done that. No, not
at all. Yeah, the first time you're like, let's play

(01:15:08):
for all the marbles. No, that's what the normal song
is playing for all the tebbles. Yeah, exactly right, right
to be your style, right, yeah, but yeah, so you say, what,
we're six feet above six feet above dirt? That would
mean that you're actually walking on air, correct, But you
basically want to say, you're on the right side of
the day o, the right side of the dirt. And

(01:15:29):
if I bury you, what are you? Uh? Six feet under?
Six feet under? Okay, you see what I'm doing? That
kind of like your style, you kind of like mix
it up a little bit.

Speaker 5 (01:15:37):
But it's also like, you know, it's seven forty five
in the morning. Days half over. You gotta get after it,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (01:15:42):
The days half over? Yeah, right, for those of you
that are going to take a nap at ten twenty,
you got to you got to gear up to a
big weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:15:48):
I gotta, I gotta rehearsal, rehearsal, dinner tonight, wedding tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (01:15:52):
That I'm telling you know you you are weddings. You're
you're a groomsman. Usher, bitch, you're telling me. Man, Hey, dude,
be here where this tucks be. These wear these patent
leather shoes all over. Sorry, I'm you know, just mean
a lot. They're all get married at the same time.

is the number to joints come back out to the
phone lines.

Speaker 6 (01:18:41):
Chris, thanks for holding good morning, Good morning fellas.

Speaker 18 (01:18:45):
I was just curious if y'all had any insight on
like how much these players take into account like cost
of living or you know, state income tax and stuff
like that, because like twenty five million a year in
San Francisco is a lot less money than twenty five
million a year in Houston, Texas. You know, not to
mention you know, the house you're going to get there

(01:19:08):
for the same money, you're going to get a much
bigger house here.

Speaker 5 (01:19:13):
I don't I you know, I we we know that
as far as like the state income TAXT. But I
don't know how much players really do take to them
can they do?

Speaker 6 (01:19:21):
If they don't, then they're then they're not being advised
right now?

Speaker 18 (01:19:25):
Or is it an ego factor toy? They just want
to say, Okay, well I've got the bigger cost, big
bigger I got on.

Speaker 6 (01:19:31):
That's a great point, Chris. I was just going to
go there, we're on the same page that being the
highest paid player by a dollar at your position matters
to a lot of them just want to yeah, well
you I'm the highest paid player in the league. Well
you're also now, are you. It's not what you make,
it's what he keeps. Are you bringing home the most
in San Francisco and Texas? You know, who's bringing home more? Right,
same contract, or even three million dollars more there, you

(01:19:54):
end up making more here when all of a sudden
done but ego comes into play. I think the wise
ones say, okay, no state tax. What's the cost of living?
I mean, nowadays more than ever. You got to think
about it. And I understand that people making two hundred
million dollars, You say, what's the big deal to them? Well,
it's still money in their pocket, kids in college. I mean,

(01:20:15):
all those players never think they have enough money, and
I get it, and probably all of us do think
we all want more. But there does come a point,
and I've been with guys on the other side and said,
you know, a half a million more there, But here,
I'm comfortable, my family loves it, I'm involved in the community,
state tax is less, and eventually I make more. And
then there's that one guy who just is tired of
the scene and wants change and is going to leave

(01:20:37):
even if the offers are same, because he wants out.
Somebody offended him, he didn't like the fan base. He
got paid a few bucks more and is going to
go there and say, yeah, I'm the highest paid player.
Well that'll last about six months until the next dude
comes along. So I'm with you. If you're wise, you
look it up. But if you're comfortable, you look it up.
But if you just want out or you want to
be the highest paid, then all that other stuff that
you mentioned isn't going to matter. But in truth, if

(01:20:58):
you're wise, you're you're battling for more money, will be wise,
and there's an easier way to make more money less
state tax matters, all those other things that you mentioned
coming to play, Chris, no doubt. But ego is a
part of it as well. All right, thanks, you have
a great day, no doubt you, Chris, appreciate it. There's
guys that wanted to Hey, at some point, I want
to be the highest paid player at my position.

Speaker 4 (01:21:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:21:19):
Then there's guys that say, I don't really care about
that I'm getting paid. I'll find a way to make
my money. I want another ring, I want ano opportunity,
I like the community, I like being comfortable. I want
to uproot my family. Some just look for a change.
I mean, ye whoever that is. Some guys just want out.
It's time. They feel like it's time and it's stale,
and they want to move on. I think that was
pretty much with George Springer. He just felt like he
was ready. Yeah, Unfortunately, I think George wished to see

(01:21:42):
his probably back here.

Speaker 5 (01:21:42):
Probably just Toronto. What a what a not overrated but
underachieving organization a city.

Speaker 6 (01:21:51):
But you talk about expensive too. You know what they
call that? What's that? They call it? The six Oh Toronto?
Is that the Drake thing?

Speaker 14 (01:21:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:21:58):
Yeah, that's drag. Yeah's doctor Robert Robert.

Speaker 12 (01:22:02):
Good morning, Hey, good morning guys. Uh off off kind
of topic. I want to say, Hey, I'm excited about football.
This is a man, such a great time year. I
was driving somewhere yesterday by a smaller private Uh it
was a Christian high school, but they had the charter
going up and I guess they had a game. It's like, man,
this is a great time of year. I wanted to

(01:22:24):
so this weekend and earlier this year. Recently, Jim Leland
got into the Baseball Hall of Fame and there's a
couple of greens.

Speaker 6 (01:22:33):
I just wanted.

Speaker 12 (01:22:34):
I think it's worth mentioning kind of baseball is going on.
But he uh, there's a video on YouTube where Jim
Leland and early in Barry Bonds's career, or that's where
I saw the video.

Speaker 6 (01:22:46):
You saw it in spring training when he's cussing him,
right O SHN.

Speaker 12 (01:22:51):
Hey, Jim Leland said, I'm the boss and and I
think it was a big influence in Barry Bonds's uh,
you know, maybe trajectory of his attitude, but that's the
kind of leader he was. Yeah, that's that's where it
was in spring training.

Speaker 15 (01:23:06):
That's right, Sean.

Speaker 12 (01:23:06):
Yeah, And uh, Jim probably went and got a cigarette
after that. But and then there's there's the another great
it was a documentary I saw ESPN did and.

Speaker 6 (01:23:16):
I knew about this, but it was a perfect.

Speaker 12 (01:23:19):
Game did by Armando Galarraga, and Jim Joyce blows a
call at first base for the final out of the game,
and blows the call, and Jim Joyce, as the documentary
would say, it was just a a well was a
well respected umpire, and he took media for about an
hour after the game answering questions saying, I blew the

(01:23:40):
beleep out of that call.

Speaker 6 (01:23:42):
As a history call, I blew it well.

Speaker 12 (01:23:44):
Jim Leland gets a phone call from Detroit management saying, hey,
Jim Joyce is a mess. You need to go talk
to that guy. So Jim so Leland went over and
talked to him after the game. But what was so
amazing is Leland as a leader. That's my personal gut.
He just seems like a some you can't quantify as

(01:24:04):
a leader. He says, hey, I'mando, you're gonna take the
lineup call out to.

Speaker 6 (01:24:10):
Jim Joyce the next day.

Speaker 12 (01:24:11):
Jim Joyce was behind the plate the next day, and
so he gets Armando galarragated.

Speaker 6 (01:24:17):
Withes Robert, is he there, Robert No. I think Carl
dropl must have dropped on that one. Yeah, I remember,
and I did remember Jim Joyce. Douce said, and and
face the music, absolutely, face the music at a answer
to every question. Yeah, it was an Unforcednate shouldn't define
his career. But unfortunately when you hear his name, first
thing comes you sad because the gallery he was out,

(01:24:40):
I mean he was and Golla Ragats deserved the perfect game.
But it shouldn't define his life or how people treat him.
He made a mistake. Yeah, and if you're Galla Rage,
it's like walking the lineup card out there. Listen, human
were fallible, man, So I'm sure that's where he was going.
But great leadership in Leland. I remember that video and
great point by great point, and I I wish to
call wouldn't got dropped. It's a bumber because he was

(01:25:02):
rolling man, but great point on. I remember the dude
he lit into Bonds like Bonds was being a pain
in the ass and he f bombed and I'm the boss,
Oh yeah it is and that's old school, and yeah,
with a grit in between his his his index figures.
That's a smoking fool, Jim Leland. But God bless him,
what a great impact he made on baseball. I didn't

(01:25:23):
know Jim Lyland smoke grits. You think he smokes poles too, Dude, Oh,
he's a grit. He's a grit smoking fool man. Affectionately,
he loved them cigarettes him grits, Peters. I think he
smokes cigars. I'm gonna say he probably smokes a cigar.
Probably had a little whiskey and with that grit once
in a while, too little cigarette. Hey, Barry, I am

(01:25:48):
the captain. Now let's get into the eight o'clock hour.

Speaker 5 (01:25:52):
We got college football, we got a breakdown, and then
in the nine o'clock hour, we're gonna talk nothing but Texans, Texas,
Michigan at the big Let's look at look at it,
Anne Watson, continue to take your call. Seven one three
two one two five, seven nine and rolling along right
here on the Shawn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 9 (01:26:35):
Okay, let's do this. Sean Salisbury, the.

Speaker 1 (01:26:40):
To USC true, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 4 (01:26:42):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 5 (01:26:50):
Seven one, three two five, seven ninety is the number
to join. We're gonna talk college football this segment. Let's
get out to Ronnie.

Speaker 1 (01:26:55):
Hello, Ronnie, Hey, guys. Uh, just one quick before I
was gonna talk about Bregman. But I love this fight
song Friday by the way back in the day. And
I know the Eyes of Texas is not the Longhorns
fight song, it's their alma mater. But there was an
old superstition that. I heard that, particularly when Arkansas and

(01:27:16):
Texas played in Austin, Frank Broyles would not allow the
Razorbacks to leave the locker room until after the Longhorn
band had played The Eyes of Texas. He didn't want
his team on the field when that song was played.
I think that's kind of a funny superstition with Bregman.
I have a question, okay, whenever the Astros play their

(01:27:40):
last game, whether it's the final game of the World
Series or you know whatever, they get eliminated in the
playoffs or whatever. When he becomes an official free agent,
who is then responsible if he has any repair done
on his elbow, you know, bone ships cleaned out. I'm
sure he's insured, he's got some kind of an insurance policy.

(01:28:02):
Who pays for that and who will pay for his rehab?
And if he's not property of the Astros, he won't
be able to go to the Astros' training facility and
use the knowledge and expertise of their trainers to get help.
So wouldn't it be better for him to go ahead
and sign an extension or you know, how will that work?

(01:28:25):
Will he wait? And will he have an advantage by
waiting to sign later, or would it be better for
him to go ahead and sign with the Astros or
whoever as soon as the free agent period begins.

Speaker 6 (01:28:35):
Yeah, Ron, if you wait too long, you miss out.
You know, we say, man, they're missing out on this
early money, right and if your team wants to pay
the early big money and you're not sure, well is
he going to have surgery? He's hurts? Where are we
going with this? How much you want? Then you're a
little reluctant to say, well, wait a minute, how are
we tell what kind of risk is it? Or is
this just minor and it's going to be one hundred
percent healthy. It's just you know, guys have stuff floating around.

(01:28:56):
Go in and clean out the knee, clean out the
elbow and Bregman's case. But when free agency start this year,
that's another Runnie when it comes to it. Put it
this way, regardless, if it's in that purgatory area, he
will be covered through Major League Baseball insurance. Wise, he's
not gonna have to pay for it. Obviously, the team,
even when he hits the free agency period, they by

(01:29:19):
that time he's either gonna if he commits to it
and says I'll do it when I get to my
new team. Well, then that's fine if he does it
while he's under contract, because the day of the season ends.
You can't start signing with teams right away, right, isn't
There doesn't the free agency period kick in like December
or something in there, a November in there, a date,
So there's that window there as well where he'd be

(01:29:39):
under the Astros watch because he while these contracts expired,
he's still under contract until that kicks in, right, So
I don't think that's the concern. The concern is when's
he gonna go get the money early without surgery or healing,
or is it gonna be I'm gonna get the surgery.
Everything's going great, sign late, But then you take the
risk of teams already saying, well, I don't know if

(01:30:00):
I'm gonna get him and go spending somebody money on
another third basement or another big free agent. So it's
a That's the brummer about being in a walk here
and having an injury is that if you're a team
that wants them, but the team with the best insights
the Astros. So he's never going to be in purgatory
enough where he's not covered by a team or insurance
to get this done period.

Speaker 1 (01:30:21):
Yeah, but what about the rehab, you know anything? I mean,
I mean, I'm sure he knows he can find training facility.

Speaker 9 (01:30:27):
No, here's what he'll do.

Speaker 6 (01:30:28):
Yeah, I think he spends time in Arizona. And also
there's the place here.

Speaker 5 (01:30:33):
There's a sports medicine place right there, off A ninety nine,
and I ten that he goes a lot of these
guys Royal Herman Health or something, right.

Speaker 6 (01:30:39):
A lot of these guys don't go to their own
facility to train. A lot of them are like if
you're off season home and the Arizona, they train there
or they have their own personal coach they train with.
So I mean when they're here, go take batting practice
and stuff, or go to their weight room. But many
of the guys are around and doing it and have
other you know, somebody they've been with for a while
or whoever it is. So I don't think that it's

(01:31:00):
going to be an issue. His rehab will get handled
at the right facility at the right time, with the
right people, regardless of who they are.

Speaker 1 (01:31:07):
Well, of course, hope he signs with the Astros, of course.
Do you think you if he waits too long, will
it be detrimental to him in terms of what he
can command? Or if the astros come to him and say, look,
we know how good you are, we'll pay you more.
Go ahead and sign now, and let's get this done
and get it over with.

Speaker 6 (01:31:27):
I think it probably looks more like that. I think
that you get especially if it's the astros. They know
how severe it is or not. He's still playing, so
how severe. If it's just cleaning it out and everything's
going to be fine, I don't think they'll hesitate on
what they give him. It's the people on the outside
of the building that haven't been around him every day,
other teams that may say, well, what's the risk here?
When's he getting it done? But I think the longer

(01:31:50):
you wait, the less money there is. I do most
of the guys, I for the most part, they get
it while the getting's good and while people are pumped
where the fatigue of free agency hot stove stuff doesn't linger,
you know what I mean, we all get fatigued. Good gracious,
how long is this going to take? I think those
teams like when that's clock strikes midnight or whatever it is.

(01:32:12):
I think people like to jump out in front of it,
because I think most athletes want that early security and
then they can enjoy their off season. The longer it goes,
the more miserable it is on you not to know
you're in a state of flux. You want to know
right now what you're doing and now I'm going to
start rehaving for that team or this team. I think
most people want to get it done sooner, and I
think there's more money early.

Speaker 1 (01:32:32):
Yeah, And if Bregman's perception of how he is being
treated or how he will be treated is good, if
he perceives it, okay, man, the Astros are doing right
by me. Well they have an effect doing what Tucker does.

Speaker 6 (01:32:44):
Oh, I think so. But the truth is, while it does,
he's not going to get in Bregman's wallet. But when
Tucker comes around, yeah he did it. But if all
of a sudden somebody's offering Tucker thirty five and the
Astros are offering him thirty per year, and somebody says
thirty five for seven, well that's another thirty five million bucks,
of course he'll leave. But if it's similar, if it's
in the same kind of thing where it's like, man,

(01:33:05):
we're close. I think a lot of people like comfort zone,
and if both of them like it here, I don't know.
I don't call it a home team discount. I do
call it a comfort level. And what's your family feeling
really in the big scheme of things over eight years?
Is half a million bucks or a million bucks that
big a deal to some it is to them? I
don't know. I think both of them feel like they'd
probably want early security, meaning get the deal done. And

(01:33:27):
I think it would matter to Tucker knowing the team's
in place and he's still got a chance to win.
I think that does come into play. But the number
one thing will be how big if somebody blows you
out of the water with money. It won't matter how
comfortable you are in a city. You'll always leave if
somebody blows you away. The Astros is getting out in
front early, especially with the injury, maybe an advantage for
them and saying, well, you want to take the risk
and somebody's going to offer you another year and a

(01:33:49):
million dollars a year more than we're offering, or do
you want to be comfortable here it's fair? Look at Chapman,
here's twenty seven mil for six years. I think that
he'd have to strongly consider that, don't you. Yeah. Oh yeah,
And we appreciate your input on fright song Friday. Brother,
you're the reason. Thank you so much. Thanks a great
great to talk to you, man. Real quick, let's talk
to Doug. Doug, good morning, morn fellas.

Speaker 19 (01:34:14):
Hey real quick.

Speaker 7 (01:34:15):
You know Leland used to smoke nails in the dugout.

Speaker 5 (01:34:17):
You know that right, smoking a nail, Baby, that's a
new one. I'n't heard that one.

Speaker 6 (01:34:22):
Yeah he did. He put it between his thumb and
index finger and he tuck it under there and put
it in and the rest of his fingers were like
covering it up so he can get a puff in.
Oh yeah, those yellow fingers nails in the coffin. Boy,
that cool bastard. I love him.

Speaker 8 (01:34:37):
Smoke away Yeah, so so, comfort Zone hometown.

Speaker 19 (01:34:43):
Just out whatever one word, Tony Gwynn.

Speaker 20 (01:34:46):
I saw his career plose and personal.

Speaker 7 (01:34:49):
Big pan of you by the way, Sean, thank you,
dougkay you.

Speaker 6 (01:34:52):
And I boy saw that. Yeah, thank you man, And
I love it, brother, thank you. Yep.

Speaker 7 (01:34:57):
Yeah. Often we lived in whenever we got to get
out in the hood.

Speaker 19 (01:35:01):
And go to May's or something like that.

Speaker 6 (01:35:04):
Damn right, you want to go to the mead streets, brother,
stop at Nordstroke.

Speaker 5 (01:35:09):
You got you gotta get out of the mead streets.

Speaker 6 (01:35:11):
And then you go to ask to go to Macy.
Yeah you do, U Garant asked, don't let Doug kid you?

Speaker 4 (01:35:20):
Man?

Speaker 6 (01:35:20):
He started on I fifteen coming from his crib there
and said, I ain't. I ain't stopping here on Via
Rancho Parkway turn off where that dog on Nordstrom is.
There's a lot of meat streets here. I know you
kept driving. You didn't want any part of that, Doug.
I know that. But Tony Gwyn you're right, brother the lifer.
You're exactly right.

Speaker 8 (01:35:36):
Man.

Speaker 6 (01:35:36):
Yeah, my man, appreciate it. Hey, when you're headed back
out to California, call me. I'll make sure I escorts
you in to Esco so you're not you don't get hurt, man,
I got you.

Speaker 7 (01:35:50):
Strows will be at uh are gonna be a go
in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 20 (01:35:54):
Man, I was really thinking about heading out there, my boys.

Speaker 6 (01:35:56):
Boy. You should. Man, that's as good a ballpark as
there is. Man in a great area. Always good to
hear from you.

Speaker 1 (01:36:04):
I thought hard for remember that.

Speaker 6 (01:36:06):
Oh yeah, absolutely do. Absolutely. There you go, brother, I
appreciate you, man. Thanks, you have a great one. He
knows about Doug knows about the mean streets. Did he
throw Macy's in there? He knows exactly what I'm talking about.
I fifty at Via Rancho Parkway. He knows exactly what
I'm talking about. You don't, though, Doug did what he

(01:36:26):
failed to talent. He was with. He was in an
armored truck and he rolled in. If you don't want
to go there, I mean when you talk about tough
places East Saint Louis, Los Angeles, Rye grew went to school,
really yeah, river Oaks right right? Uh, you know where

(01:36:46):
Temple University is in Philly. There's some tough times to
and then that's right, yeah, I mean, I just you'll
see if you're going there without me, you'll see I'll
have to find a new home. I'm not going, of course,
sure not.

Speaker 8 (01:37:01):
Man.

Speaker 6 (01:37:01):
I don't blame you, man frigging you're too busy going
to wedding or sell that soft white collar wedding reception
that you don't want none of that. You don't want
none of that Esco stuff, Dude, I feel like that's
got to be racist. Well, yeah it is, it is. Yeah,
we do. You know, we're just trying to find a
venue to little take us in. We get married next right, yeah,
I mean get shot up right, Yeah yeah, Local seven eleven.

(01:37:23):
Just like no, I mean when you guys are at
the you know, the CEO and chair of the some
oil company they're getting married to speak week in the river.
Don't talk to me about ESCO.

Speaker 5 (01:37:31):
We're getting the venues in Conroe, probably right on the.

Speaker 6 (01:37:35):
Lake in some yacht.

Speaker 5 (01:37:36):
Actually it's actually next door to uh the police department.

Speaker 6 (01:37:41):
So you should be doing that in ESCO, right next
to the police department. So in case somebody gets what
gets out of hand, we could prevent you from getting hurt.
You don't want the main street, so no, we don't
stay to your fluff soft stuff. Yeah, you don't want
to street. Yeah, over the local nord trips. Yeah, when
you really want to go, go said where safe? Kind
of a maze as you.

Speaker 5 (01:38:03):
Let's talk Texas and Michigan football next at Sports Talk
seven eighty.

Speaker 4 (01:38:08):
Let the celebration start war Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 21 (01:38:12):
It's a Sewn Salisbury show.

Speaker 5 (01:38:50):
Little SMU fight song fights on Friday. Here on this
Shawn Salisbury Show, Sean Brian and TRIPLEI. You're with you
this morning on Sports Talk seven and you can also
listen to us on the free iHeartRadio app Astro sweat
by the Reds. They host the Diamondbacks tonight at minim
Park seven to ten. The first pitch six o'clock on
Deck Show right here on seven to nine year home
for Astros, Baseball, Texans and Colts. On a Sunday, it's

(01:39:12):
a noon kickoff. Let's talk Texas versus Michigan. What a matchup?
Seawn tomorrow over in ann Arbor at the Big House,
eleven am. Kickoff your early thoughts as Texas makes their
trek up to Michigan.

Speaker 6 (01:39:28):
I love this matchup. I love that you gotta wake
your ass out of bed and go play. It's gonna
be what about a buck one hundred and twelve thousand.
There both have national title. One's a raging national champ
and some think that Texas is going to be the
national champ. It's a great test. The last time of
a game this I think was monumental affair word yes, huge,

(01:39:50):
especially early last year the Texas played Alabama. This this time,
that was the that's the way I'm talking about outside
the playoff, very similar, and they looked awfully comfortable rolling
into a top teams building and putting it on them.
They got everything you need to go in there and
win their physical they got speed, they've got a hell
of a play caller, they're battle tested, and they got
a quarterback who's really good. So I would expect them

(01:40:12):
to put up Now if you think it's good, they're different.
They're going to do everything they can to control it,
run it, shorten the game, make quinn ewers try to
score from the gatorade tank, all those things that come
into play. Hard place to play. It's got louder over
the years because the way they've reconstructed it. It used
to be the quietest one hundred and five hundred and

(01:40:34):
ten thousand people's yeah venue on the planet because not
because the fans didn't get it, but the out and out.
So but this is a really good team, and until
you're beat the reigning champion, then you have to put
respect on their name. So early wake up call. But
it's Michigan's. Is there are the East coast or central

(01:40:55):
times on because that area regardless, Michigans used to do
a new Games and Texas they've done that early start
with you know, the Oklahoma Red River shoot out, all
those things. So I like Texas in the game. Texas
a better team, better team, and the quarterback advantages is there,
and so a lot of a lot of different things

(01:41:16):
had to happen for Michigan. Know, you lose your quarterback,
you lose your running back. But make no mistake about it.
If you turn the ball over in ann Arbor, they
will beat you. I got some audio here I want
you to listen to. It's a local I like Texas
in the game though. It's a local Michigan podcaster.

Speaker 5 (01:41:32):
You know, obviously podcasting is a massive thing these days
in sports media.

Speaker 6 (01:41:38):
Anybody can do it.

Speaker 5 (01:41:39):
Yeah, this kid had some things to say about the
University of Texas taken on Michigan. This is This is
Carter cast As, a local Michigan homer, talking about Texas.

Speaker 6 (01:41:52):
If we want to win.

Speaker 14 (01:41:53):
This game, and yes, I said, we we have to
score two touchdowns. I don't think that Texas scores more
than ten points. If we're being completely honest, I think
if we can sell out to stop yep, if we
can sell out to stopping the run, which we've proven
we can do. Quinn Ewers is a completely different quarterback
when he is not throwing play action a twenty point
rating drop. If we can keep him from establishing the

(01:42:15):
run and keeping him from dropping back in play action,
that is going to be very important. Blitz a completely
different quarterback when he's blitzed. Even if you take his
blanket numbers, he's I would say, twelve thirteenth best quarterback
in college football. Realistically, I don't think that they're gonna
be able to score. Michigan's defense has been the same.

(01:42:35):
Can we score points? That's what's gonna come down to.
We're going to have to run the ball. Well, it's
not going to be going.

Speaker 6 (01:42:41):
He doesn't think this is gonna score more than ten points.
And I love his guts, and listen, how do you
make a name for yourself? I gotta be a little bit. Uh,
come on, takesh.

Speaker 5 (01:42:53):
Hot take and they left, they left fres Oh No,
I know, I'm just saying, like that's what I was
gonna say, flaming hot take. They let Fresno State score
ten points against him?

Speaker 6 (01:43:02):
Yeah, I would say that. And see he's just looking
at numbers, and I get it. When they blitz you
if your numbers are down, I would imagine for the
most quarterback. Well, I'm just telling you I'm going to
roast him without having to accuss him, because if I
would have been the opposition on that podcast with him
or a guess, I would have said from this position.
First off, I don't know the last time somebody's held

(01:43:25):
home or away Texas to maybe it happened last year.
The less than ten points and quinn Ewers can beat
you with his arm. Now, I'm going to tell you
if you decide to sell out in the run game,
they're going to get you with some home run plays
on the perimeter. They just are because you're not going
to get to him every blitz. And I watched the
guy drop back. He's pretty damn good. It's not always
out of praction. But you could make that case for

(01:43:47):
most players. If you got play action and a good
run game, it's only an advantage for the quarterback. But
if you say every quarterback in America, the run game
disappears for them this Saturday, it's all throwing it. You're
going to take yours in your top five players that
you'd take at the position that can still win a game.
You just are. So the numbers may say he's outside

(01:44:08):
the top ten, that's fine, But I still trust him
if you're gonna blitz him and you don't get to him,
that he can deliver the ball with that arm against
man coverage. I saw early in the game. Was it
two years ago Alabama when they came into Austin, and
before he got hurt, they were doing everything and he
was making every friggin throw. So the numbers can be
skewed and misleading at times. I can give the same

(01:44:29):
for them. How are they going to score points if
you stop their run game? How are they scoring? Who's
Michigan's quarterback? I don't even know the reason. I asked that.
A lot of the country saying the same thing, and
you don't have the same efficiency, Meaning them without JJ McCarthy,
Texas kept their quarterback, Michigan lost theirs and their running back.

(01:44:50):
Now Michigan can run the ball, They'll always be able
to run it. But I would argue the fact that
he's obviously a guy who lives there in that Town's
obviously a guy who thinks that the I mean, Davis
Warren is the quarterback from Michigan. I'll ask again, who's
the quarterback from Michigan. I'm not saying it can't play,
but you tell me, if both run games are stopped,
where's the advantage Texas? Right? And if they win thirteen

(01:45:12):
to ten or win ten to seven, what's the score.
It's a w right, it's a doubs. Matter of fact,
I'll take that. I would, and I would have said there,
I said, I'll bet you whatever you'd like to bet.
Did the Texas Longhorn score more than ten points? I
would worry more about Michigan not being able to score
than Texas. Now, Ken you hand it. I mean they're

(01:45:32):
going to try to play down hell Man, you know
Michigan's offensive line can move piles. So I cut some
podcasters slack, especially when they're in ann Arbor and they
grow up in that town because they don't know any better. Okay,
they don't know, and I listen. I don't have a
skin in the game with Texas friends and stuff in Michigan.
But the Texas is the better football team. Michigan's the

(01:45:53):
reigning national championship. There's an aura about that, and I
would imagine most of these guys not named twin years.
I think he well in his first year. I don't
know if they in Ohio State, they played where they played,
he didn't start, but he's he's been in big buildings
in Texas. I would imagine most haven't played in ann
Arbor right now. But you know what, what a great experience.

Speaker 5 (01:46:10):
Last time Texas was held to just ten points twenty
twenty two, TCU beat him seventeen to ten, and that
was when TCU went on to play in the national title.

Speaker 6 (01:46:19):
There you go, and if they score ten, I doubt
Michigan's going to be It ain't exactly like the Texas
has a you know, Mattadoor defense where they're just letting
you run through. Advantage Texas, Advantage Michigan at home, Advantage Texans.
When it comes down to strengths and weaknesses combined, give
me Texas in a close one, but in a score

(01:46:42):
that's not thirteen to ten. They're going to score more
than a touchdown. Seven one three, two, one two five seven.

Speaker 5 (01:46:48):
Ainey will take your calls on these Texas Longhorns as
they travel to ann Arbor to take on Michigan. That's
basically the biggest game of the weekends. So let's take
a look sneaky game. Who Colorado at Nebrass? That's gonna
be a fun game. I have that one right here
in front of me. Actually, yeah, so we'll talk about
that one as well. And also, fellows, let's talk about

Speaker 9 (01:48:22):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 5 (01:48:47):
University of South Carolina The game Cox.

Speaker 6 (01:48:55):
Go, Cox go. Yeah. Now you imagine what the signage
was when we played them in Columbia, South Carolina back
in the day, Trojans and game Cocks.

Speaker 5 (01:49:12):
I don't know what what what? What were the signs?

Speaker 6 (01:49:14):
Think about it. We've we've had, we've had. We played
the Beavers in the Organ Organ state, so you know that.
I mean, it's an animals wildlife hopefully. I'm just saying, you know,
we just did so and Trojans and then we play
we played the game cock, so you know what that
looked like. And then we were playing Florida my sophomore

(01:49:37):
year and their quarterback was Wayne Peace? Really good player?
And a sign behind our bench said Trojans can't hold
Wayne's Peace? Thought, that's clever, really good. Yeah, it was awesome.
It was freaking awesome. I loved it. So yeah, a
lot of things you can do with signage on that.

(01:49:58):
Does anybody called call things a beaver? They call the
Oregon State football team, but the organ State beaver's right, right? Yeah, Okay,
I don't know what else would be called. I mean,
I'm I'm naive. I don't know anything. M Well, I
don't know. I didn't even get the joke when they said,
you know, trumps, I don't know what mean. I just
know that organ states like, well what, Yeah, I don't know.

(01:50:19):
I don't know what that means. Maybe and the kids
probably don't know, you know what I'm saying, tribly Do
the kids know what a beaver is besides the animal? Yeah,
wildlife besides And the truth is they actually they actually don't.

Speaker 21 (01:50:33):
They don't.

Speaker 6 (01:50:33):
I don't tribally do you know? Do you know what
we're talking about? No? Yeah? Yeah, what about that wildlife?
Dog brought it up?

Speaker 5 (01:50:43):
I know, like you guys are going to turn this
on me now, like you guys are about to gang
up on me, and I'm racist against the beaver community.

Speaker 6 (01:50:49):
You ask what it is, No, No, I know what
it is. Well, it's an animal, Yeah, it's wildlife, right sure.

Speaker 5 (01:50:55):
Yeah, I'm just saying, Man, I got a I got
some inside info on the universe. She had Texas forty
what were the eyes on you? Forty six Texas upon you?
Forty six players who are traveling to ann Arbor went
to Alabama last year, so a good chunk of the
roster has experience one hundred thousand hating on them, so
they'll get it. Okay, the Texas they were there when

(01:51:17):
they played Alabama.

Speaker 6 (01:51:18):
What I like. I don't mind going into a hostile
environment and having them dislike you is a tremendous amount
of respect. You're just gonna have to use some silent
count and work on in this day and age, crowd noise.
You know, it still has an effect when you can't
hear a guy. But if you're going with hand signals
and on movement and then you're disciplined, you should be

(01:51:38):
just fine. You've worked on it enough, so I wouldn't
expect that to be a problem, especially you're not huddling
you're going up and playing fast, score early, and that
will take crowd out of it.

Speaker 5 (01:51:46):
Quin Yours has played in a lot of big games.
I don't think he's going to be rattled.

Speaker 6 (01:51:50):
I'm not worried about that. Yeah, I wouldn't. He played
in big games when he was playing at South Lake
Carolyn High School. I mean not this big, but every
stage he's been in, either state championship opportunities at Ohio
State when he wasn't playing, watching how you do your
work and your building and everybody else in the Big ten.
That's loaded because when Michigan GHOS plays, it's sold out.
And here's the University of Texas. You're play in front
of big ones. Here, you've been in playoff games. Yeah,

(01:52:11):
I'm not listen. I'm not worried the thing you protect
your quarterback. I'm not worried about the crowd making the
difference in whether quinn Ewers can make a throw or not. Yeah,
I'm not worried if that's my biggest If if that
was Texas's biggest worry, then we got a problem. Yeah.
And knowing him like I know him, I don't think
that the crowd noise will be the reason he if
he doesn't play well, it'll be Michigan's execution, not the crowd,

(01:52:33):
even though the crowd can have it. You know, on
third and one, you'd like somebody to jump off side,
so it's third and six. Those happen all the time,
but discipline. Good football teams go on movement and you
don't go. But those linemen just make sure you communicate
and go play.

Speaker 5 (01:52:45):
I think I think Texas wins by two scores. I
don't think it's gonna be a close game.

Speaker 6 (01:52:50):
I would think Texas's team is I think ten points better.

Speaker 5 (01:52:55):
Yeah, Mission draws up the plays that we know he's
capable of doing, and they execute those.

Speaker 6 (01:53:01):
If this, if this wasn't if you're betting this game
and it was in Austin, you wouldn't point. You wouldn't
even be probably less than that, simply because it's Michigan
the national champion, and some people still think they're I
think it's probably probably like six and a half. Well
right now it's seven. Texas is favored by Steven oh
on the road. Oh, I thought it was. I thought
it was out him at four three and a half.

(01:53:21):
I thought they were less than I thought it was
less than last I looked, I thought, oh, then it
was here. If it was home, like eight and a
half or nine points, probably seven and a half, eight points,
I mean double check that if they're if they're that
big a favorite on the road, add another field goal
to it. So yeah, right around ten, I thought it
was less.

Speaker 5 (01:53:36):
Right now, odds by ESPN BET have Texas minus seven.

Speaker 6 (01:53:39):
Okay, well there you go, yeah, spread mine, go and
check it out. I don't want over check that line
is going to move between now and then. So oh
I thought it was like four and a half points. No,
it's seven. Okay. So yeah, then let's say probably still
under because ten point spreads, especially in the NFL, are huge, right,
I would probably say.

Speaker 5 (01:53:57):
Eight and a half to nine points. Yeah, another point
half if they were at home, seven point spread forty
two and a half.

Speaker 6 (01:54:03):
I know the rule is give three when you're home,
but there's still that respect of Michigan being the national champion.
It's not like they're a lower third hack in the
Big ten. They're still good football team. Yeah, but I
didn't realize. I didn't realize that was if it starts
to move even higher than that, that'll tell you how
they feel. About Michigan. But right now, I think seven
points is a pretty monstrous spread to go on the road.

(01:54:23):
That tells you that they know the talent on Texas
is better. Vegas knows something always do. It's talking to
Anthony wants to talk about these Longhorns. Anthony, good morning, Hey,
good morning guys.

Speaker 8 (01:54:34):
So first I want to acknowledge that going to the
Big House is easily one of the toughest environments in
college football. However, there's three there's three key things for
me in this matchup. First of all is I've heard
heard numerous times going into the season, Texas has one
of the top three offensive lines in college football. So

(01:54:56):
I think Texas will control the line of scrimmage. And
that leads into my second point. Quinn Ewers is one
of the best quarterbacks in college football, and if you've
got time to throw, he can shred a defense. Last year,
when he went into Alabama, another nasty environment, easily the
toughest place to play in the Nick Saban Era, he
threw for three hundred and fifty yards and three touchdowns

(01:55:18):
and it's the only time that Alabama was beat in
Tuscaloosa by more than a touchdown. And My third point
is the coaching matchup. I think Cheron Moore is going
to be a great football coach. With that being said,
coach Sarkisian's been there, he's done that. He's coached in
tough environments. So I have the Longhorns winning by two

(01:55:39):
possessions at least.

Speaker 6 (01:55:41):
So I got you. I think comes down to me
with all those things that are that are all true.
If you're saying, Sean, you have to pick a you
set the score, like I said to me, it's twenty
four to ten, Yeah, twenty seven to thirteen. Yeah, that's
how I think it is. Now, if they're hanging around
the fourth quarter and they can kill then it'll be different.

(01:56:02):
But you're not going to Texas offensive line's really good.
The perception is that because of yours can throw it,
that Texas is a finesse team. They're not. They're not
at all. And Michigan is The perception is they're always physical,
right right, Yeah, we saw last year they can make
plenty of plays on a perimeter. New quarterback, the rest
of it. Head coach who is good, but advantage in

(01:56:22):
all the categories he's talking about, you still got to
go in and there's more hostile environments, but there'll be
one hundred twelve thousand people to stay with one hundred
and ten grand. It'll be packed. But quarterback head coach
pretty good equalizer Michigan. I know they got the r
but last year didn't mean a hill of beans to
this year. It's a different roster, a different team. But
I listen and a good game, two field goals, but

(01:56:45):
it is the difference and if they both play their best,
Texas is winning by a touchdown in a field goal. Yeah,
in my opinion.

Speaker 5 (01:56:51):
You know, there's a lot to be made about quinn
ewers and obviously the run game in the offensive line
for the Texas Longhorns. But like defensively, I think for
that unit, they're just going to have to take it
one play at a time.

Speaker 6 (01:57:02):
That's I'll tell you what. I Okay, who can say
it better than that? One play at a time and
do it and and just make place, Yeah, just make
place that analysis ye tell me those two things again
with the two keys.

Speaker 5 (01:57:18):
Uh, first of all, it's taken one play at a
time and then the second key. So first key, one
play at the time, second key, make plays yeah, man, Yeah,
Chris Collins worth a better look out.

Speaker 6 (01:57:33):
That'll get you on national give you that. That's a
that's an unbelievab scouting report. Thank you really really? I
mean that, do your dive that's deep. Make tackles. So
you say, make plays and take them one play at
a time and make play and make place.

Speaker 5 (01:57:47):
Yeah, and then also you can throw in for the
third key, show up and show out.

Speaker 6 (01:57:53):
So that's that. That is Emmy Award winning Yeah, shows over,
it's Gordy next. You know what else? Okay, So if
I say what's going on in Colorado Nebraska game, my
analysis for that game is one play at the time, YEP,

(01:58:14):
make plays. Damn right? Were you getting better insight than that?

Speaker 5 (01:58:17):
I mean I was gonna tease that we're going to
talk about Colorado and coach Prime, but I don't need
you anymore. You just got deep dive, right, we did.
What's the point Nebraska wins? I think Nebraska wins too.
Let's talk about that next right here on sport Stok

Then out, bring in the ship tomorrow morning to watch
the game. Then got to be the venue at two o'clock.
Then the wedding and the after party and the Texans

guts to stand up, Well, you'll be standing up right.
You're in it? Are you the way I am in
the way? Yeah, stand up as your groomsman, stand up
and say when they say speak now or forever, hold
your pieces. But yeah, I want I want you to
raise your hand just to get an oakie dook saying
and look down and like really straight faced, and if

(02:02:07):
your buddy, if he's your homeboy, uh huh, and have
everybody's heart sink into their stomach and say got his
ass and then continue back on all I'm just kidding. Yes,
you guys, go ahead ahead, Love you guys, Love you guys.
You got it.

Speaker 5 (02:02:21):
No, there's like two hundred peoplet this wedding, say massive wedding,
like one hundred and fifty people.

Speaker 6 (02:02:29):
Oh so you're scared when of the crowd's bigger. No,
Oh so you'd say if there's five people there. No,
I wouldn't say it at all. Okay, that'd be full saving,
it would.

Speaker 5 (02:02:38):
Be hilarious, but it would be too too typical of me.
This group, this group thinks I'm a jackass.

Speaker 6 (02:02:44):
Well, just validate him, like endeering though, this validate him, dude,
don't disappoint him because you.

Speaker 5 (02:02:50):
I can only imagine because I coached Dylan. Dylan's getting married.
I coached him. But there there's only like a seven
or eight there's he's twenty eight seven years difference between
and like three of his three of the groomsmen, I
coached them as well for four or five years.

Speaker 6 (02:03:03):
Right, So the dude lion is lion birth certificate for
is it fourteen? Ye? No, I'm just saying I could.

Speaker 5 (02:03:09):
I could just imagine if I did do that, somebody
in the crowd would be like, who said that, Oh,
that's Dylan's coach.

Speaker 6 (02:03:17):
Or you'd get to one who's like, pissed off you
ruined their wedding. Hey, buddy, can I tell actually it
actually take some tention. Don't do that, right, because then
I'm gonna get blamed. He told you he.

Speaker 9 (02:03:28):
Paid me a.

Speaker 6 (02:03:28):
Thousand bucks to do it. I do have buddies jackasses
like that. They would do it in a second, which
is a good And I'd say, I'd look over like,
yeah there's a shock. Yeah right, well go figure and
I just look out of the card, say did any
of you think it would happen any different? Now take
a shot before we say I do.

Speaker 5 (02:03:46):
Yeah, seriously, give me a long weekend, man, good weekend though.
Catholic wedding, No, thank god, we go say you will
be there a while, dog dude, you can be there
a while.

Speaker 6 (02:03:55):
Look you can.

Speaker 5 (02:03:56):
You can preach how miss games tomorrow. You can preach
whatever you want. You can practice how whatever you want,
your your Christianity, everything, Catholicism, Buddy, at the wedding.

Speaker 6 (02:04:06):
Wedding, you try to be the best man when you
when everybody's had a little alcohol beforehand, and you got
to pee at the beginning, oh, because they started walking
down and all of a sudden, you're like, how am
I getting through this? Can I excuse myself while you
guys are going through your vowels, I'll be right back.
Can't do it? Then you got to drink the winter Yeah. Yeah,
it's craziness, man, but I love it. It's got great tradition.
But if you're in, it's it's a long Yeah, it's

(02:04:28):
a long haul. I may it's a long I'm ay
out of there in fifteen minutes. Yeah, that's me in
and out. I want the party to last fifteen hours.
I want the wedding to last fifteen minutes. Let's start
the reception, please, let's go. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:04:41):
I got a little cool front coming in today too.
You're gonna wake up. It's gonna be like sixty degrees
tomorrow morning. Yeah, low humidity.

Speaker 6 (02:04:48):
It's gonna be a good run shot. Yeah, man. Yeah,
Plus you got college football on. Yeah. One might say
it might be bricked up. You never know who it
could be. Could be. If you're struggling, go to Men's
t clinic misty clink dot com, five convenient locations. Tell
them Seanna Brian sent you. That should be their slogan.
You want to get bricked up more often, fellas. You

(02:05:14):
want to get yoked up, bricked up and all the
way up dot com.

Speaker 5 (02:05:18):
Hey, we're going to talk Texans at nine o'clock, real quick.
Colorado Nebraska.

Speaker 6 (02:05:25):
I like Nebraska's team. I would imagine there's going to
be points scored all over the place. Ryola is a
good player. I remember, this is the number one recruit
in the country at quarterbacks. Right, goes commits to Georgia,
de commits his old man played offensive line in the
league for a long time. Hell of a football player,
and then goes back with Matt Ruhle It commits to Nebraska.

(02:05:49):
And you saw last week he's a really good play.
He's going to be really, really good. And while Shad
Door Sanders had a monster game and he's going to
be a first round pick. That's going to be a
fun duel to watch. Now, I've got to see the
defenses get off the field. Yeah, so let's see what
they got dialed up. I don't know what the over
under it is, but if the weather's good, my first
thought is take the over. But I'm not sure where

(02:06:09):
it said. I'm gonna say in the sixties or is
pushing seventy high sixties, sixty seven, sixty I haven't looked
at it. The spread on that is it's got to
be pretty high.

Speaker 5 (02:06:19):
Come on, let me find it real quick. Nebraska, Nebraska,
my goodness. Right now, the over under is set at
fifty six and a half. Nebraska's favored by seven.

Speaker 6 (02:06:29):
Yeah, now now they must you know, I haven't seen
Nebraska's I mean I watched their game last week. But
against the high powered offense like Sanders and Hunter, they
can make a good defense look a little average. But
to me, that's not enough. I don't know what the
weather report is. You said in fifty what fifty six
and a half six? See, I think this is a

(02:06:51):
game that's like thirty four to thirty one, thirty six
thirty if you have one of those thirty three thirty
type games. I think it's a high scoring game. Yeah,
it's maybe it's thirdly in the season, so they waiting
for offenses to get rolling. But I like the over
on this.

Speaker 5 (02:07:02):
Six thirty kickoff tomorrow evenings like Nebraska might be two
physical for him.

Speaker 6 (02:07:07):
Good good weather, seems like you be more points scored.

Speaker 5 (02:07:10):
Is in Lincoln, right, Yeah, let's see good fun place
to play. Yeah, let's get into the nine o'clock hour
because we're gonna talk Houston Texans and the keys to
a victory against the Colts. That's next right around Sports

that one.

Speaker 5 (02:09:55):
How would you say about the Textans taken on the
Cults the Sunday in Indianapolis.

Speaker 6 (02:10:05):
It's in Indiana? Yeah? Thanks? Uh? What do you think, Baggy?
I love it?

Speaker 5 (02:10:12):
Oh you know the uh, the Texans are gonna taken
one play at a time.

Speaker 6 (02:10:19):
Yeah, you know, I don't know. I don't know if
I remember that. You know what, why are you on bad?
I don't know? He sucks in the booth. I'm just
calling he's a star exactly. Hey man, some people have
bigger strengths than weaknesses, you know, in certain areas. You
know what I'm saying. Yeah, I feel your dog, I
know you do. Texans do we gotta man? Jonathan Taylor,

(02:10:45):
the Legs and Freak Show talent of Anthony Richardson. Uh,
Pittman ain't bad, right, Uh a louch Uh, They're they're
pretty good. Good advantage Texans. What's the spread? Six and
a half? Come on? Now, they don't get the Texas

(02:11:07):
more respect than that Texans. So basically they're saying that
the Texans go in, you get so a touchdown favor right,
usually get three points at home. Maybe I like I
like the Texans in this game. It's a I'm not
even that nervous about it. You know, I know they're
capable of winning. I mean up, I know the meaning

(02:11:27):
Indianapoles beach. You go in there and and you know,
kick rocks and turn the ball over, you'll get beat.
I think they're going to be extremely focused and ready.
I would expect a game that looks like they're playing
Game three or four. I think the Texans are going
to come out ready to play. I do. And I
think they're going to be precise and dynamic. And I
think you're going to see if you're going to get
a treat because with Joe Mixon, what what what the

(02:11:49):
Colts haven't seen this preseason? They didn't see any of
the library. That you saw the preseason was a minor
part of the library. Now you're going to see the
whole full effect Division game. And now you've got to
deal with what you haven't seen on film in preseason.
Joe Mixon and that a power run game that can
play well off play action, a quarterback who's adept at
anybody pushing the ball down the field. I'm really anxious

(02:12:12):
to see formationally, how they get all these guys involved.
I can't wait. I think I think that it's a
I'm comfortable picking the Texans and it's they're a better
team than the Colts are. I think Anthony richards is
going to do. I think he's going to be a
good player. I do. I think now, listen, we can
go by early returns. He's spectacular skill set. Now we

(02:12:35):
say that, we said that before about quarterbacks, and the
guy just never said about Sam Darnold. He's still trying
to find his way. Right, We've said it about guys,
but Richardson's got every And you're looking at a guy
and you say, okay, let me let me see what
he's like. You plug him into freak show talent and
he'll come out off the charts. But it's a lot
more at this position than how far you can throw it,

(02:12:55):
how fast you can run, how big you are. How
will he be if he's if you've got to play
boring football and I know, peace, what does that mean? Well,
boring football to me means can you beat them doing
stuff where you don't get to playoff schedule and do
spectacular things. Boring and I thought I heard the broadcast
last night because I've been preaching this yesterday on a

(02:13:18):
show and preaching it, and I thought I heard the
broadcast last night say with the ability to with Derrick
Henry and the ability to run the football and that
power run game and inside power, and look what Pachecko's
done for Mahomes. But it was on the Kansas City side.
Adding Pachecko and that speed and being able to have

(02:13:38):
inside power, heavy big heavy guy meaning an explosive guy,
and get and play heavy football, which means we're going
to wear you out right. That we always talk about
Mahomes making all those plays down the field, in truth,
you're going to see them make more plays underneath. Yeah,
because of the Pchecko early lot, you know, restaurant almost
a grant. Now he's getting into the rhythm. You have

(02:14:00):
to respect that. And so while you've done it and
play action. Also, people are going to be afraid of
team speed and get trying to get depth. You're gonna get.
It's going to make them more effective underneath. So with
Anthony Richardson, you're dealing with a guy and there's a
little unknown about it because he didn't play much last year.
Because of the injury. I can tell you this that
if the precise part of his game, the boring part

(02:14:23):
of his game, matches the talent, we're in for a
hell of a division with quarterbacks in this league. I'm
just telling you he is a He is capable of
winning this game for them if he if both his
legs and arms. If you make them one dimensional this week,
the Texans are going to win, and the Texans are
going to win by more than a field goal. Difficult
place to play division game, But I think the Texans

(02:14:47):
are a better team talent wise than last year. And
I think they're better all the way around because they're deeper.
I'll tell you what, I can't wait to see how
the pass rush deals with Anthony Richardson. This will be edge.

Speaker 5 (02:14:58):
This will be the first time that you see the
Neil Hunter and Will Anderson Jr. On the field at
the same time, right right.

Speaker 6 (02:15:04):
And you just you put this. You can't get so
caught up in pressuring the quarterback that you forget to
tackle the guy who's had some pretty good games against
the Texans and against the league in the past. Yeah,
Jonathan Taylor is uh good run back. He sure is. Yeah,
so healthy again too.

Speaker 5 (02:15:22):
And then also you can't discount guys like as he's
Aushai Yere for the Texans. That's you know, we can
we can talk about the wide receiving corps. We can
talk about c J. Stroud. How would the offensive line do?
My Like, the most exciting part for me just coming
into this game is the fact that you finally see
the Neil Hunter and Will Anderson Junior on the field
at the same time.

Speaker 6 (02:15:42):
And now I want to see how the interior, the
defensive line handles downhill run game that Jonathan Taylor will bring.
It's fun, but we are I'll tell you. If you're
just talking about raw ability, look at the four quarterbacks
in the division. I'm not talking about proven talents. Levis
can throw it as far as any of them. And
he's a skilled guy with matter of fact, I got
to back Levis off, Dude, he's got enough energy. I

(02:16:03):
gotta calm his ass down. If out of Tennessee you
go to Indianapolis, that guy's is gifted as any quarterback
in the league. Yeah. And when you're talking about physical
skills here, well we know what we got here, an
MVP guy and Trevor Lawrence who's making about fifty five
million dollars a year and has had moments of greatness.
They need more moments of consistency from him. But let's

(02:16:23):
just say all four of these guys hit two. It's
like this, It's like what you got up in the
AFC North. Yeah, but that big P word potential now
comes down to production. Anthony Richardson's are real wild cards
because we all know his ability. What's he going to
be like when he's got to when when he's sustained
for a full season. So he's you gotta be careful

(02:16:45):
with him because he's big enough to take on guys.
I mean, he's bigger than some of the guys are
going to be hitting him. He he's a monster. He's
a big talent man. So we'll see. But I like
the Texans and I like him. Without it being a
stressful situation, let's hope they stay out of a you know,
you drop a ball and then you have to punt,
and then they go down and it's within a field goal,
and you allow a team that shouldn't beat you even
in their building, hang around. This is a it's a

(02:17:08):
double digit win team going in and there are they
are fun in my opinion going into the season, just
talent on paper. I think there are steps ahead of
what we saw going into last year, not the result
at the end going in, which tells me and it
will be no easy task, tough schedule. But I actually
think they'll rise to the occasion of the tough schedule.
I I'll be shocked if it's not minimum of ten

(02:17:30):
wins this year. Cream rises to the top and you're
on fire with all your crew. I've never heard that
one before. No, is that nude you come up with?
Just now? Yeah, right off the dome, dog, right off
the dome. So that's why I'm your co host. Yeah.
So what does Cream rise to the Top mean? For
those of us who have no idea, It's like we
never heard it. Cream rise to the top? The best,
the best, Yeah, rise at the top. It's like where

(02:17:51):
you know, you're you're cooking a loaf of bread, You
know what I mean? You want the cream to just
hang out down at the bottom, because no, then you're
not gonna have a good loaf of bread. You want
the cream to rise so you have the best loaf
of bread possible. Well, here's what I know going into
and I do bake at times and cook. Do we
have cream on bed? Yeah? You know you're talking about
the the yeast and the flower makes the bread rise, right, Yeah,

(02:18:12):
so rises to a good bread has to rise in
the oven. That's what you're saying. Do you put cream
on your bread? Yeah? Look, look, why don't you worry
about you your bread? Bread? Okay, but the bottom line
is your quote that nobody's ever heard, the cream rises
to the top. Take it one play at a time
and make place. But I mean, dude, if you actually

(02:18:37):
put that on an audition tape, we might be on
well when we might both be on TV for the
next twenty years. I mean, you got a lot making
like three million a year just to tell us that
real brilliant insight.

Speaker 5 (02:18:45):
You got a lot of slappies that are on TV already.
So while you just add two more.

Speaker 6 (02:18:50):
Yeah, just add some more that can overload their mouth
with their ass and tell you nothing. That's great. Everybody
can move on. There's some good ones. There's there's just
as many don't know, right, do I assure you?

Speaker 5 (02:19:02):
I just think they need to get this trio on
TV anyways, meaning us three, you.

Speaker 6 (02:19:07):
Know, beg Borrow cheat and steel. If you can bro
whatever you got, just go and tell them we'll make
place right. We'll take it one segment at a time.
Damn right, we will. There you go, Yeah, we sure will.

Speaker 5 (02:19:19):
All right, let's talk about the Texans offense against the
Colts defense. Uh for the game on Sunday seven one
three seven, Hine and Alls. So we got to get
to Michael and the heights. We got to figure out
what he did say yesterday when he got us on
that d's nuts joke, because a couple of people on
Twitter have been asking.

Speaker 6 (02:19:33):
So let's talk about that as well.

Speaker 6 (02:20:13):
We know how it goes.

Speaker 5 (02:20:14):
It's terrible, you know, the grid situation here in the
state of Texas, especially right here in the Houston area.
If the power goes out, you're gonna want your generator
to pop on and you can continue on like nothing
ever happened. And you can do that by getting yourself

seven zero. Ask for Nathan King or Daniel Hopper to

(02:20:36):
get yourself a free quote. It's the American made Bridges
Stratton generator from Brotherly Love Electric.

Speaker 6 (02:20:41):
It's a connection you can count on.

Speaker 9 (02:20:45):
The Jean Salisbury Show continues.

Speaker 19 (02:20:50):
Yeah, oh yeah, come on.

Speaker 21 (02:21:07):
Here we go.

Speaker 6 (02:21:08):
What a way to ruin? My bus had good you
know good brick had a good buzz from the energy
in the room and our callers. In football season, and
an inch was the difference in a tie game in
overtime last night and you play this.

Speaker 5 (02:21:26):
Oh yeah, you knew it was coming at some point.
Turn it up, Triple Lee, and.

Speaker 6 (02:21:31):
I hope the Texans don't lose thirty four to ten.

Speaker 5 (02:21:33):
After this, no shot, not with this plane in the background.
Oh yeah, come on, here we go every Friday, the
song is gonna play, Get up and scream, Come on,
Simon yousday.

Speaker 9 (02:21:54):
Got one?

Speaker 6 (02:21:57):
If the callers hung up a kid your cuts? All right,
he's talking to Tripoli Channon, don't play man, City of
Would you get more fan mail?

Speaker 15 (02:22:14):
Bomb?

Speaker 5 (02:22:15):
Yeah? Yes, now I'm ready to go. It can rain,
it can pour, it.

Speaker 6 (02:22:24):
Can snow. I don't care. You ready? Fired up? Jack?
I was? Yeah, it really was. It was pumped up.
But you played that song. Now I'm not. It's awesome, man,
It's a banger, dude, I'm fired up.

Speaker 7 (02:22:40):
Man.

Speaker 6 (02:22:40):
Hey, Baylor's at Utah this week. By the way, Okay,
Utah is gonna boat race. Maybe not, come on, maybe
they'll stick them. No you don't know, No, maybe you
don't know. Maybe maybe they will in all right, Utah
boat racism they do, they should beat in pretty good.

(02:23:00):
So yeah, it's gonna be a fine, it's gonna be
a good test for Baylor. Let's put it that way.
Good test, Okay, I'm trying to be positive. I gotta
get you. Yeah. Oh, so you're gonna be positive for
the Baylor. I guess your buddy Walker. I love Clay Walker.
I didnt say I didn't like Clay Walker. He is.
I don't want she.

Speaker 5 (02:23:20):
Gets the people going, I don't like the song you're
ready to figure out? Nothing against Clay I like Clay
Walker man. Yeah, And good for your buddies for coaching
at Baylor. I hope they don't get their ass whooped your.

Speaker 6 (02:23:29):
I like, you know, puting their time in. They're trying,
you know.

Speaker 5 (02:23:31):
Yeah, I mean they're coaching that Division one major Division one,
so good for them, you know. Speaking of that real quick,
before we get to Michael on the Heights, do you
have you seen what these high school football coaches are
making in this city?

Speaker 6 (02:23:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:23:46):
It's insane. Don't hate Barbara's Hill high school head coach.
Why are you selling them out public? I'm kidding. This
is on cron dot com one and seventy nine thousand
dollars almost one hundred and eighty grand.

Speaker 6 (02:24:02):
Now do Katie.

Speaker 5 (02:24:03):
Gary Joseph making it over one hundred and fifty. Todd
McVeigh over at Tompkins High School making one forty six
point five.

Speaker 6 (02:24:13):
They now do Austin, Westlake and South Lake Carrol. I
just have Houston, and I just have Houston.

Speaker 5 (02:24:20):
Yeah, Willie Gassing over at north Shore, he's underpaid one
thirty eight point nine.

Speaker 6 (02:24:26):
I would say that probably is underpaid in the high
school world here in Texas. It's pretty cool. Huh, what
do you doing, Barbars? Why would you leave that gig
to go anywhere else?

Speaker 5 (02:24:34):
Making one seven, one hundred and seventy nine thousand, nine
hundred and seventeen dollars.

Speaker 6 (02:24:38):
Where Barber's Hill? Where's that at? I think on the
east side.

Speaker 5 (02:24:43):
Give me, give me like like Beltway and High ten.

Speaker 6 (02:24:47):
Oh, out that way somewhere out there?

Speaker 16 (02:24:49):
Is it?

Speaker 6 (02:24:49):
Are they a good program? Not that I know of.
I don't know. I've never heard of the school before. Yeah,
Barber's Hill, he got good negotiation skills, too good for him.
I don't hate it. I'm not getting their wallet. Make
all you can. With all the success Katie's had. Gary
Josephs probably underpaid after all these years at a buck
fifty or whatever it is. He's been there for eight
million years and they do nothing but put themselves in

(02:25:11):
a chance to win a ring every frigging year. North Shore,
I mean, you go down. I wonder what Duncanville out
of this, you know what I'm saying. Like I said,
South Lake, Caro Allen, they got to one hundred grand
somewhere there.

Speaker 5 (02:25:21):
I would imagine, dude, my mom was a teacher in
spring Id and she was making like not even thirty
grand back in the day.

Speaker 6 (02:25:28):
And I would imagine there's some private schools around the
state of Texas that are paying as well. Yeah, oh,
you have to teach at a private coach if you're coaching.
I'm trying to think about the rules here. If you
coach at a private school, do you have to teach?
I don't think so. But at a public school in
Texas you got to have teaching credential, right, Yeah, I'm
pretty sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they to teach a class,

(02:25:49):
whether it's pe or history or whatever, or as a
public I don't know what the rules are in private,
but you know what, I know how hard and I
know how hard these coaches. And congratulations to a bunch
of my guys that have had phenomenal starts to their
season this year and they know who they are and
I couldn't be more proud. It's second Baptist Jordan High

(02:26:10):
guys that aren't even in high school. Those guys are
going to be I got a couple of special ones
that are like in the eighth, seventh and eighth grade
that are doing great things or freshmen on the JV
or sophomore. I got some really special guys. But to
congratulations to the start. I love seeing these kids do
their thing on Friday. And you know what these coaches deserve.
It's about Dan. Everybody else get paid, why should't the
high school coach that's their first reel and with the

(02:26:30):
way they have to manage it now with say and
I do believe a high school coach is responsibility.

Speaker 9 (02:26:35):
I do.

Speaker 6 (02:26:35):
I think it falls under Some will argue with me
about this. I do think that they're part of their
traits and accountability and responsibility should be to help those
kids on their roster plays, to help them get them recruited. Yeah,
I don't think it's just a kid or a recruiting
service thing. That's part of it. But these high school
coaches impact these guys. With all the money going around now,
and the way these kids are getting why shouldn't the

(02:26:56):
coach be making two hundred, two hundred and fifty grand
to coach high school? If you're winning and putt people
in this dands, why wouldn't you Yeah, good for them.

Speaker 5 (02:27:01):
I don't hate him for it at all. No way
to get that bag. Michael on the heights. What's happening?

Speaker 11 (02:27:07):
Hey, good morning boys, I'm waving the white flag.

Speaker 5 (02:27:09):
Hey what hey? What did you say to us yesterday?
And all seriousness? How did you get us?

Speaker 8 (02:27:14):
What?

Speaker 6 (02:27:14):
What? What exactly did you say? Again? It was about
an agent.

Speaker 11 (02:27:17):
Right, yeah, yeah, and his name was Bobby and his
last name was Season, like four seasons I took.

Speaker 9 (02:27:24):
See.

Speaker 7 (02:27:24):
Yeah, so.

Speaker 5 (02:27:27):
That's to set man, you had us doun. I'm not
gonna lie to you. Yeah, you got phenomenal execution again.

Speaker 11 (02:27:34):
Keep keep your guard up, boys, because I'll be lurking
in the shadows to Poppy again.

Speaker 8 (02:27:39):
Now.

Speaker 6 (02:27:39):
But you have to understand that the neon light goes on.
There's a neon light at the end of the tunne
when you come on now, it's flashers, like, be careful
of this clown. No, I'm kidding. You got it.

Speaker 7 (02:27:48):
You got us.

Speaker 6 (02:27:48):
You got us good, Yes, sir, brother, we got us good.
What's on your mind about these Texans?

Speaker 11 (02:27:53):
I've been yeah, so you know, let's let's rewind to
last year before the season. I mean, I was of
the opinion that our roster was a straight turd, right
because everyone was unproven, right. But I think now we
know a little bit, We have a little bit more
knowledge about what our roster can do, so I'm more
confident this time. But man, we never we just don't

(02:28:16):
have good luck with the Colts. Man. I used to
go to the opener U with the Colts when Peyton
Manning was there. I went to the opener every year
for like ten years, and we lost every single game. Man,
So I think our time is now, uh to beat them,
and they're you know, to start dominating them, hopefully. But
I just think the roster is better. But uh, you know,
the RPO with Anthony Richardson, they ate our lunch. But

(02:28:40):
you know, that was like the first game of the season,
so hopefully they made some adjustments. But hey, real quick,
you know on the game last night, zeb you're worthy.
He two touchdowns pretty impressive, but guess what, Guess what,
a team's never going to let that guy do ever
touch the ball, you know, like that guy like he
caught them by surprise. I think so overall, I didn't think.

(02:29:01):
I didn't think Lamar Jackson played very well. And I
think the Chiefs defense is looking looking pretty stout once again.

Speaker 6 (02:29:06):
They were so their Chiefs defense was a big reason
why they won a Super Bowl last year, all year long,
and real quick about that, Anthony Richardson stuff, You're what
it does is is controlling that making him one dimension
will be a big part of it. And you get,
you know, try to get more tape on him, but
you're one hundred percent correct and was Xavier worthy. That's
what makes Andy Reid so great. He'll find ways to
get him the ball in space without having to push

(02:29:28):
it down the field. And you saw that on the
reverse touchdown. He's going to be special. He's going to
be difficult to deal with. That bandwidth with him is crazy.

Speaker 11 (02:29:37):
Andy Reid is such a good head coach man for him. Finally, dude,
finally turn it, you know, finally get into the mountain
peak after all those years in Philadelphia, just getting so close.

Speaker 6 (02:29:46):
But uh, and there's no better guy in foot in sports.
You know, you want good guys to win. This dude
is as good as human being as there is, and
there's no McVeigh all of them. There's some really good
play callers, nobody better than him. And if it doesn't
hurt at the number, fifteen's your quarterback. But but Andy
Reid's special human being and I couldn't be happier for him.

Speaker 11 (02:30:06):
I was in Italy and I stayed at the same
hotel as him. Like, I was eating breakfast and he
sat right behind me. My wife was like, is that
Andy Reid? I was like yeah, And you know, I
didn't mess with him, but.

Speaker 6 (02:30:14):
And you know what he was. He would not have
had one problem with you going up and shaking his hand.
He would have. He would have welcomed it. One thing
you never have to worry about him being he's got
a great sense of humor, a sneaky one. He would
he would he would have welcomed it. So if you
ever run into him again, go go up and introduce yourself.
He won't care.

Speaker 11 (02:30:32):
Hey, one more thing, man, My perdition for the receivers,
because I think we're gonna have three basically number one receivers.
I mean that's the way I feel. I think Tank
Dell is going to have the most touchdown. He's going
to lead the team a touchdowns.

Speaker 6 (02:30:44):
Didn't you see that too, Brian? Do you feel the
same way He's lead a team And when one of those.

Speaker 5 (02:30:48):
This year I said, I said, he's going to lead
the team in receptions this year. Michael, I like to
touch you. What do you what do you think about
the d for the Texans this year?

Speaker 15 (02:30:58):
The dad.

Speaker 6 (02:31:08):
I was waiting for that. You know how they say, Oh, Carl,
you know they say, I'll just let it go to
your ass.

Speaker 4 (02:31:18):
I'm a storekeeper. Oh yeah, let's go to break. We've
the Shawn Salisbury Show continued Ohio State buck Eyes.

Speaker 5 (02:32:00):
Fight Song Friday here on The Sewn Salisbury Show, Sean
Brodon Tripoli. You can also listen to us on the
free iHeartRadio app Astros Diamondbacks Tonight, I've been to a
park seven to ten to the first pitch, six o'clock
on Deck show right here on seven ninety Texans and
Colt's noon Kickoff on Sunday in Indianapolis, University of Texas
taken on Michigan Tomorrow morning with eleven a m.

Speaker 6 (02:32:20):
Kickoff. Scots.

Speaker 5 (02:32:21):
The phone lines real quick seven, one, three, two, two
five seven ninety Kenneth, good morning.

Speaker 6 (02:32:28):
Uh this me, Yes, sir, you're on okay.

Speaker 7 (02:32:34):
Yeah, Well I was gonna talk about them Texans.

Speaker 19 (02:32:36):
Man.

Speaker 7 (02:32:36):
They just haven't showed me nothing yet on that running
game and with Mixing that And We've always talked about
this matter of conditioning and these injuries and all of that.
You know, I'm on the fence when him on that
running game. You know, they just haven't showed me nothing yet.
And as the coaching and Sloyd, he kind of reminds

(02:32:59):
me of uh, Kevin gilbright Man, a past happy type
of guy, you know. And uh, they're just gonna have
They're just going to show me some on that for
I be sold then I'm not just not getting my
hopes up yet.

Speaker 6 (02:33:11):
Now, Kenneth, do you not think do you not think
Mixing is a good player? Are you concerned about it?

Speaker 7 (02:33:16):
Well, well that's why I throw in the factor by conditioning.

Speaker 6 (02:33:20):
You you're wondering if he's in shape because he missed
all this time in preseason.

Speaker 7 (02:33:25):
Back too, and we just don't know. We just don't
know yet, you know, we we haven't seen one snap
from this guy yet. We don't know a goal though
behind the scenes, either we might have just came in
there and say, you know, we want to save this guy.
You know, we don't want to get banged up pre
scenes and nothing like that. You know, but you know,
you played this game, and you know, uh, you know

(02:33:46):
preseason sometimes you know, you might want to get out
there and just test yourself sometime, you know. And and
he was you know from a father.

Speaker 6 (02:33:54):
Yeah, he was banged up and couldn't let me just
give you a little mate, Maybe I'll give you a
little more confidence. And you're right, we don't know what
it's going to be like, first time mixing run game.
And they've now got a commitment guy. They can make
a commitment too. Now I'll tell you about Bobby Slok.
He comes from a background that is they want to
run the ball San Francisco, Kyle. They want to run it.
And the reason they win got mixed and they feel

(02:34:16):
like they have a guy now who can give you
inside power football and get on the edge. And in
the passing game, while I know guys are pass happy,
but a lot of pass happy guys know that the
road to success is being able to run it. Because
in your pass happy stuff, becomes better. I can guarantee
you Bobby Slolk wants to run it that his background
with the people's been now all of us greedy coordinators

(02:34:37):
want to throw it around and score a lot of points,
but he knows it. For Stroud to even be better,
mix it in a run game, and the depth of
it has to be good. I think you're going to
see more of a commitment to it, and the more
they commit to it in the right situations, and Mixing's
contribution and the depth of it, I think that you're
going to buy into the run game sooner than later.
I don't think they want to throw it forty times.
They just have the luxury of having a quarterback that

(02:34:58):
can and a lot of cities don't have that. Now,
if Mixing can match what we saw in Cincinnati, it's
gonna be a bitch to deal with them. If he's
healthy and right, I'm anxious to see how they come
out of this game.

Speaker 7 (02:35:08):
I agree because in a compliment the past game, no
time and no doubt, And I just wanted to clean
up something yesterday cause I had a habit of being
driving when I called and I tried to stump Brian.
I didn't clarify right, it was. It was in nineteen
sixty one when the Allus won the championship before the merger,

(02:35:31):
and it was George Blander was a quarterback. I'm real
nostalgic with him because when I came up, you could
reach out and touch these guys. I don't have no
autograph now because a lot of them they you know,
they had to work in off season, a lot of
them had businesses and stuff like that, and I just
had access to a lot of them. And and have

(02:35:53):
you ever run across Dan Passerina and played golf with him?

Speaker 6 (02:35:56):
I have I have sat down and had lunch with
Dan Passerini, run into him mini times. I am a
huge fan, by the way, George Blynn, I'm a lifelong
Raider fan. And when Blanda and the Raiders and Madden
and and Kenny Stabler and Daryl Lamonica, Yeah, I am
George Blanda. What a friggin career, that twenty six year career. Phenomenal.
But yeah, Dan Pastor, Dan Pastrine's one of the great

(02:36:18):
people you'll ever meet. And I'm sure you've met him
if you have it, he's phenomenal.

Speaker 7 (02:36:22):
Did he ever tell you the story? About when he
got his reals cracked. He was a hospital. That guy
came in with that chest gadget.

Speaker 6 (02:36:28):
He absolutely did. Dan's got some great stories, Ma, man,
great story. There you go. We appreciate you. Can have
a great weekend. Man. I hope the run game's there
for you on Sunday. Yeah, let's get to Bill real quick. Bill,
good morning. He just clerfect. Uh mott I had we'd

(02:36:50):
love to hear, but you it's it's like you're underwater. Man. Well,
a couple of predictions real quick, yeah, real quick. I'm
I'm gonna leave about ten minutes early because I've got
a uh, well, you gotta see a man about a horse. No,
I'm going to play golf at Big Easy, and I
got a tea time at eleven thirty, so I'm gonna
take ten minutes off to get a head start because
it's about an hour and fifteen minutes five.

Speaker 5 (02:37:07):
All right, Well, let's start with the tonight Packers Philadelphia
Eagles in Brazil.

Speaker 6 (02:37:14):
Philadelphia favored by two and a half. Philadelphia wins late.

Speaker 1 (02:37:19):
I like it.

Speaker 5 (02:37:20):
I got Philly, all right, Okay, here we go Tennessee
at Chicago. Caleb Williams makes his professional debut. Chicago a
favor by three and a half. I was, I got
spread and all. I got the Bears winning. This is
a like five point six point victory for me and Cayleb.
Williams will show reasons why they drafted him first. I
got the Bears winning this game. Okay, here we go.
I like this matchup right here. The Dallas Cowboys at

(02:37:41):
the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland favor by two and a half.

Speaker 6 (02:37:44):
I got the Browns in the game. I think the
Cowboys will move, but the Browns defense will be the
difference in the game. Okay.

Speaker 5 (02:37:50):
Los Angeles Rams at the Detroit Lions. It's a Sunday
night game. Detroit favor by four and a half.

Speaker 6 (02:37:56):
Hell of a game. Give me the Rams point spread.
Detroit to win at home.

Speaker 5 (02:38:00):
And New York. This is the Monday night game. Nope,
save that for Monday. Texans Colts. Texans are favored by three.

Speaker 6 (02:38:09):
Twenty seven to twenty Colts. I mean Texas to Texans
twenty seven Texans twenty seven twenty Texans.

Speaker 5 (02:38:16):
Le'll see what we get, Bill, real quick, see if
the connection, Bill, I got about a minute for you.

Speaker 6 (02:38:19):
Now, No, gotcha? Real quick?

Speaker 15 (02:38:21):
Is this better.

Speaker 6 (02:38:22):
Yeah, got you now? Is it better?

Speaker 11 (02:38:24):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (02:38:24):
Super real quick?

Speaker 20 (02:38:26):
Barbara sil is the last bit of settlement and civilization
east of Baytown after Barbara Silder's Gator Country. There's nothing
will you talk about these football coach, especially in the
Houston area, the six A's and five days.

Speaker 6 (02:38:40):
I know that's.

Speaker 20 (02:38:41):
Outlandish and they're huge numbers, but a lot of those
guys are also a D and football coach, So I mean,
don't I don't say that justifies one hundred and sixty
five thousand dollars, But they're not being paid to be
just the football coach. Not every one of them, but
most of the ones I've seen down here since I
moved here. The five days and six a'sot.

Speaker 2 (02:39:00):
Ball coach is the ad as well.

Speaker 6 (02:39:02):
Anyhow, then they should be making more. There you go, Bill, thanks,
brothers a great weekend.

Speaker 8 (02:39:09):
He too.

Speaker 6 (02:39:10):
Yeah, they do a lot, but uh and I love
seeing it. I don't have a problem with them getting paid. Hey.

Speaker 5 (02:39:15):
Also, random fact here, Remember that super fan for the Chiefs,
the dude that like robbing banks and stuff. Yeah, sentenced
to seventeen and a half years in prison without parole
and three years of supervisor leased it just came out yesterday.

Speaker 6 (02:39:31):
Man, that's a uh. The joke's not on anybody else
now anymore, is it? Super fan Xavier Bobadar. Yeah, bad idea.
Don't rob Banks, as she had noticed. Don't rob Banks
and that sucks. I mean, you rob Peter, you pay
Paul and he's paying for Paul now, But don't do it.

(02:39:51):
Don't Roby. You got Colorado winning or not? No? I
got oh you want to go through? No, It's okay. Texas,
Texas gonna beat Michigan. Really, there's not a lot of
big games this weekend. You tall beat Baylor.

Speaker 5 (02:40:05):
H Yeah, the state's playing Bowling Green Oklahoma State Arkansas
could be that'd be a good game.

Speaker 6 (02:40:12):
Yeah, underrated game. I like it. Troy and Memphis and.

Speaker 5 (02:40:18):
We play Utah State at sc McNee State taking on
Texas A and M. That's going to be uh a
curb stop. Tennessee Tech at Georgia.

Speaker 6 (02:40:30):
Backups in by the third quarter. Iowa State at Iowa
ten to seven.

Speaker 5 (02:40:36):
You know what the over under is thirty eight thirty
five and a half.

Speaker 6 (02:40:40):
And you know what's crazy, it's probably the lowest under
of the week. And Gambley World take the under take
the under Yeah, I'm seriously crazy. All right, good stuff, guys,
I hate him straight today. Yeah, enjoy and thank you.
I'm going to have a blast and look forward to
playing with my guy. And uh you guys, have a
great weekend and enjoyed the wedding, and congratulate your buddy.
And to my son Dodge, yeah, who's recently engaged but

Elmore here with you. Sean just dipped out. He is
headed to play some golf. Got about an hour and
a half drive, so we had to get out here
a little bit early. Astro swept by the Reds over
the last couple of days. They host the Diamondbacks tonight
at Mini May Park, seven to ten. The first pitch

(02:43:15):
six o'clock on deck show right here on seven on
your home for Astros Baseball. You got your Houston Texans
first game of the regular season in the NFL.

Speaker 6 (02:43:23):
They take on the Colts.

Speaker 5 (02:43:25):
Kickoff is noon over in Indianapolis on Sunday, University of
Texan taking University of Texas playing Michigan tomorrow morning with
eleven am kickoff.

Speaker 6 (02:43:34):
Levenam kickoff. Tripley.

Speaker 5 (02:43:35):
I know you're traveling over the weekend. You're gonna watch
some of these games. You traveling today or tomorrow? Tripley.

Speaker 6 (02:43:43):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (02:43:45):
You didn't hear anything else. I said, h are you
traveling today or tomorrow?

Speaker 6 (02:43:51):
Oh? Today? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:43:52):
Okay, So you can be up early to watch those
games tomorrow you can be outside all the count count on.

Speaker 6 (02:43:57):
You can be outside that too.

Speaker 5 (02:44:00):
You are, Yeah, you want to where can we let
the peeps know where you're going.

Speaker 6 (02:44:04):
Oh yeah, I'm just going to Chicago, your shttown.

Speaker 5 (02:44:06):
Okay, yes, sir, eleven am kickoff tomorrow Texas and Michigan camp.
I know for us here in Houston, we're gonna have
a little bit of a quote unquote cool front come through.
It's supposed to be really really nice weather Saturday and Sunday.
I think the high is only like eighty five with
low humidity. I think I saw lows down in like
sixty degrees. That's gonna be fantastic. Wigging up tomorrow morning

(02:44:26):
getting out to wherever you're going to watch college football.
I know I'll be uh. I'll be drinking a cold
one at about ten thirty tomorrow morning. Thirty many dude,
I'm in this wedding this weekend. There's so I got
so much going on, it's unbelieving. I just got back
from Scottsdale last weekend. Yep, I had to turn around.
It was a long labor day weekend. I was hung
over until yesterday. I swear yesterday it was the first

(02:44:47):
day I felt normal again.

Speaker 6 (02:44:49):
Oh my god.

Speaker 5 (02:44:50):
Now today I got the rehearsal at five rehearsal dinner
at seven. You know I'm gonna be drinking. I mean,
everybody's gona be drinking.

Speaker 6 (02:44:56):
Oh yeah, everybody.

Speaker 5 (02:44:57):
Oh my gosh, Man and the wedding tomorrow. Football all
weekend long, plus you got the Astros. Let's just hope
the Astros can get back in the win column against
the Diamondbacks. The pitching lineup for or the pitching rotation
is set up pretty nicely for the Astros all weekend
long against these Diamondbacks who were playing really good baseball.

(02:45:18):
Hunter Brown pitched his ass off yesterday. Offense did not
perform very well. Tonight it's gonna be fromber Valdez. Tomorrow
it's you say, Kakuchi. And then Sunday it's a Sunday
night game on ESPN, it's Justin Verlander. So you got Valdez,
Kokuchi and Verlander. Maybe we'll see Kyle Tucker this weekend.

(02:45:38):
Maybe we'll see him tonight. Who knows. Maybe Kyle Tucker
be back in the line. They'd be fantastic get him
back in. Hoping Bregnan could play third base once again
and get these Astros back on the winning tricks. Crazy
you go from sweeping the Kansas City Royals four games,
and then you get swept by the red They have

(02:46:00):
literally not beaten the Reds since twenty sixteen. That is
absolutely insane us eight years ago, eight years ago, that
is crazy. And obviously you know when things like this happened,
where the Astros lose a couple of games. You know,
earlier in the season we had Renel Blanco, who is

(02:46:20):
a stop gap fromer Valdez. Has pitched really well as
of late, so hopefully he can continue to do that
against an Arizona Diamondbacks excuse me, Diamondbacks team that's in
the wildcard hunt. You know, they're chasing down the NL West.
I don't think they'll be able to get there, but
they are right there in the wildcard. Let's see the

(02:46:42):
Diamondbacks two and a half up. They're in the second
place of the wild card over in the NL. And
then you look at the NL West standings, the Dodgers
up five games over the Padres and five and a
half over the Diamondbacks. So Diamondbacks are a playoff team
playing good baseball. Corman cal Carroll has hit extremely well
in August and then early here in September, he's got

(02:47:04):
an over one thousand ops not bad. I think he
hit eleven bombs in August twenty four RBIs, so they're
gonna have to keep him at bay. Glad they're back
home at Mini May Park. We'll see if they can
get back into the win calm again. That game is
a first pitch of seven ten. Tonight, the on deck
show is gonna start at six o'clock. That's gonna do it. Yeah,
tripa leie, hey man, enjoy your weekend, save travels. And

(02:47:30):
before we get out of here, I would like to
give a shout out to my nephew AJ. He graduated
this morning from the Mountaineer Challenger Academy up in West Virginia,
and he's also gonna enlist in the Air National Guard
and he got a scholarship today. So really proud of
my nephew AJ and my sister Trisha for being an
amazing mother to my three nephews, AJ, Cullen, and Asher,

(02:47:54):
all three of them. So grab my nephew AJ for
graduating this morning, doing some really good off up there,
and that that program is put on by the Air
National Guard and he's gonna list go right into the
Air National Guards. So good for him. Let's go.

Speaker 6 (02:48:07):
Let's go pretty pretty happy about that.

Speaker 20 (02:48:09):
All right.

Speaker 5 (02:48:09):
That's going to do it for the Shawn Salisbury Show.
For Seawan Salisbury, our producer Triple Emmanuel Elmore, I'm Brian Lima.

Speaker 6 (02:48:14):
Thank you for listening.

Speaker 5 (02:48:15):
We're back tomorrow morning or excuse me, Monday morning at
six a m.

Speaker 6 (02:48:19):
Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 5 (02:48:19):
Next up will stand Nordfully Chris Gordy coming up next
