Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsby. Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Sewn Salisbury to usc true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Sewn Salisbury, Brian Alima, Manuel Elmore. Your Rockets win again.
They take down the Memphis Grizzlies. Rams advance, they take
down the Vikings. Monday night football wild Card weekend is
officially coming to a close. Cowboys and their head coach
Micha McCarthy parting way Shawn Triple. Good morning, got a

(00:46):
lot to get into this morning.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
What's happening? Good morning, Good morning, Tamiko.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Ryan spoke to the media yesterday about the upcoming matchup
in the division around the playoffs against the Chiefs. Tons
Audio to go through there. Can they actually do this?
Go to Arrowhead and take down the Chiefs As wild
Card weekend comes to a close. Sam Darnold man picked
a hell of a time. Did not play very well.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Yeah I did and.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
Last two games unfortunately, after an unbelievable four thousand yard
season for him, he did not play well under pressure
the last two weeks in the two biggest games, one
for home field advantage throughout and then against the rams
in the playoff game, and he's better than he played
the last two games. He may not be an MVP

(01:32):
of the league, but under pressure, he did not play
held the ball too long.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
That's the number one thing.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
You know, he was twenty five or forty, but you
could see the turnover for the score on the stripsack fumble,
and Sam just has a tendenc trusts his arm and
he's actually pretty good on the move, but he ain't
you know, nine sacks pressure. It's like their pressure in
the time they woke up in the morning, and he
just wasn't sharp with the interception and the fumble. He

(01:58):
turned it over and they're going to take a long,
hard look.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
Now.

Speaker 5 (02:01):
The question is, think about this in the course of
a great season. Sixteen games, the seventeenth game, in the
eighteenth game for him may very well dictate whether he's
a forty five to fifty million dollars quarterback or not,
whether he's.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
He was sacked nine times and six times in the
first half.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Yeah, some of those are on him. Some of those
are on them where you don't have a chance, and
then you know the stripsack phone, but you just can't
hold the ball that long. Especially going into a game.
You know Don Shula, the great Don Shulin, his son David,
who is a wide receiver coach coordinator in the league.
His son Chris is the defensive coordinator for the Rams.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
He's in his thirties.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
So he dialed up a great plan last night, that's
said Shoela Dna man and it was masterful. And the
Rams didn't even play their best offense. The Rams got
a chance. Man, they're down four to be able to
get that kind of pressure with that blitzing all the time.
See Sam just he took on a lot of that
himself last night. It's you can when we when we
see sacks. So the first thing we always think about

(03:02):
is it offensive line's fault. And at times it is,
but there's times when the quarterback runs into trouble or
hold on to the ball too long. He was overwhelmed
last night, and I love him. I'm bummed for him.
There's a place for him in this league. And he's
a starter, there's no doubt. But these type of games,
pressure games kind of tell you you know who you are.

(03:23):
Now that the Vikings are going to have to make up,
They're going to have to come up with the play
in this offseason because JJ McCarthy coming back, and do
you want to commit to Darnold on a one year
franchise tag for forty plus million. I still think he's
good enough to be the starter until McCarthy's ready, or
he can start for some You tell me he can't
start in Tennessee. So it just like a lot of

(03:46):
times your first playoff experience. And in truth, the Detroit
Lions game was a playoff game home field. Ad Van
mattered an extra week playing at home throughout and then
this week, and in his two playoff games, single elimination games,
Sam picked the wrong time to be on the on
the bad side of it, yeah they weren't. The Vikings
offense was putrid last night.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Yeah it was not good man.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
And then on the other side, the excuse me, the
Rams Matt Stafford nineteen to twenty seven, two hundred and
nine yards passing two touchdowns. He was only sacked twice.
They ran the football twenty two times for ninety yards.
Their defense played really really well.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Yeah, well it's a common theme here, my friend. Look
look across the playoffs. I mean, these defenses are some
quarterbacks got dominated in these games and last night was
no different, but the Rams. I thought the Texans were
impressive with their victory over the Chargers. The Rams defense
was as impressive as we've seen so far in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
They were damn good.

Speaker 5 (04:43):
And I think they're gonna need that because you're gonna
have to have that kind of effort against the Lions,
who already got you once this year.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
They're familiar.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
Obviously, Stafford in his first year traded got a Super
Bowl ring when he left Golf's there. There's a lot
going on. I'm not saying they're playing, but I'm talking
about when you play them at some point in time.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
You know those two teams.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
If you're gonna beat a Detroit team, you gotta play
defense like you did last night. If you're gonna beat
a team like, you know, the Baltimore Ravens in the
AFC or Buffalo, you're gonna have to have defensive efforts
like the Texans did. So the team that's standing at
the end, the quarterback will have played his ass off,
the defense will have elevated, and they will have prevented

(05:22):
turnovers and played great under pressures. It's hard to operate simple.
It's a simple formula but getting to the formula is
a problem.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
You look at the teams that are still standing. You
got Chiefs Texans, so you have Patrick Mahomes, a veteran quarterback,
c J. Stroud in his second year, Bill's Ravens two veterans,
Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Alien veterans too, and they played like aliens this year.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Lions and Commanders, Jared Goff veteran, Jaden Daniels rookie and
will be Rookie of the Year yep. And then you
have the Eagles and Rams matchup. You have Jalen Hurts,
Ben and Matt Stafford has one.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Yeah, and look at the defense as and what they
did to opposing quarterbacks this past week. For the most part,
Baker didn't get to twenty throws. You saw Arnold last night.
Even though the Eagles and Packers game. Jalen Hurst didn't
have his best game. Look with the Eagles, neither did
Jordan Love right, yeah, neither did Jordan. Defense put it on.

(06:23):
They did not. They didn't have a great offensive game.
So defense, and we already know who Kansas City is
a postseason defense, so yeah, the challenges protect the ball
without being passive, stay aggressive without being stupid, and play
defense and have a quarterback that knows how to delineate
and has discernment with the football when to throw it

(06:45):
and when to take it, you know, throw it out
of bounds, and then win to take a sack that's
going to get you in trouble, but can't take nine
of them. And that's offensive line and quarterback and everybody
else involved. The Vikings are going to go with a brutal,
bitter feeling in their stomach.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
It's all off season.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
After the regular season, they were a game away from
playing having home field advanced throughout where they would they'd
still be resting today to being eliminated from the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Yeah, that's fast. Yes, what a season? Fourteen and three
in they're out first round.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
Well, we've never had a we've never had a fourteen
win team as a wild card, and you got one
that speaks volumes to the way. And two teams that
were in a brutal North Division are both eliminated in
the Packers and the Vikings, and Detroit's the last one stand.
And now we're going to see how the bye week
helped or hurt them. We'll see if their rhythms intact.

(07:36):
If the injuries on defense, they start to get a
little healthier in certain areas, and I like teams that
have to keep playing. That's why I also give it
the UH Texans a real chance, ron because there's a
rhythm that goes, not a momentum. The Chiefs know how
to stop your momentum. You're dead and its tracks, trust me,
And that's a hard place to do it if you

(07:56):
want to, if you want to be confident going in.
But they should feel as good as they have about
their team, meaning the Texans, then they have all season.
That was their best game. To me, it wasn't close,
right because of both sides of the ball. You even
get good special teams play. So I'm anxious to see this.
Eight points seems like a lot to me. It is

(08:18):
the Chiefs, and I get it. I would think that
that would come down before this game, is opposed to
going the other way.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
But so depending on where you look, it's seven and
a half or eight, I'm assuming it. I would I
would assume when it gets to game time it would
it'll drop to like six six.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
And a half. That's what I think. Well, if it does,
then put it this way. If the public's all over
the Chiefs, you're going to see some people take it different.
I would take the the the Texans right now with
the points. Wise these points, they might want to jump
on them right now, because I would take the I
would do it right now. I would to plus seven
and a half or even plus eight. Give me that
all day. It's your eight points, and you don't want

(08:57):
it to get even at seven and a half. That
hook's important too. So if you're if you're a better
I'm anxious to see how they I'm really anxious see
how they come out of the locker room.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
It's gonna be cold.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
Listen your face and everything you yearn for as a
player growing up and saying I want this opportunity, but
realize that it's as difficult opportunity as there is. You're
playing in a hospital building that this team just knows
how to survive and win, and you've got the best
quarterback in the world at least has been since been

(09:28):
in the league, and and the best coach in the
NFL who keeps winning. So and your personnel is not
as good as I think. The Texans personnel, player for
player is every bit as good as a matter of fact,
I think it's better than the Chiefs. The problem is
some teams, it's fine and fine to hang around that

(09:49):
if they have the ball lasts there's a really good
chance they're going.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
To win that football game, right, meaning the Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
So you got to give yourself some leeoy, But you
know what, stay in it, Just stay in it. And
that's hard. And the Texans texts don't have to pop.
Josh'll be in there and not have to take a
back seat to anybody, but they do have to repeat, rinse,
and repeat what they did last week because we haven't
seen two games in a row. We like that from
them this entire year. Yeah, that would be the challenge.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Excuse me.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
We talked about these point spreads the Lions and Commanders.
Lions favored by nine and a half, Eagles and Rams
Eagles are favored by six, and then you look over
at the Bills and Ravens Baltimore favored by one. So
one score spreads in all except for the Bills and Ravens.
What the hell, man, the Commanders and Lions.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
That one?

Speaker 3 (10:32):
I get nine and a half Lions at home coming
off the bye week. Rookie quarterback rookie quarterback. Yeah, Eagles
and Rams. I'm actually a little bit surprised because the
Eagles offense did not look very good last week and
the Rams. The Rams are formidable. They don't have a
rookie quarterback. They got two of the best, two of

(10:53):
the best wide receivers in the game on the same
damn team. And it's a six point spread. Come on, man, Yeah,
what does Vegas know?

Speaker 4 (11:00):
A lot?

Speaker 5 (11:01):
Unfortunately or fortunately whatever depends on what side you're on.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
They know a lot. And it's going in to Philly.
They have to try.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
You know, they're gonna have travel across the country, all
those things, it'll be cold and everything that comes into play.
But I can tell you this, and here's the difference too,
is that if you're the Rams and you can get
pressure before, that's great, but you also got to be
alert that the guy quarterback with Philadelphia can buy time
with those His legs are as biggest strength aside from me.
He's good, you know, he's just a high football like

(11:30):
you guy, But his legs are is the biggest strength.
He hasn't proven this year that he can beat you
regularly throwing it. He's had an average to me just
an average year throwing it. We know what his strength
and his crutches. He's gotten better since he's you know,
in the league, from when he college to now, but last.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Year was a struggle.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
He's played some good, good enough football to get them
in this position. But in order to win it all,
he's gonna have to be He's gonna have to make
some explosive plays with his arm in either in any
of the games left him.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Yeah, outside outside of Saquon Barkley doing what he's done
all season long. Last week, Jalen hurts through for one
hundred and thirty one yards.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
Yep, it's it, and they managed to win twenty two
to ten.

Speaker 5 (12:07):
Yeah, and you know, Barkley, that's the problem the Rams
are gonna face. You got a quarterback who's got legs.
You got a they've got some explosive wide receivers if
he can get it to them. And then they've got
a running back that's a freak show. You know, they
can run it, catch it, you do it all. It's
a smart football guy.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
The Rams. Listen. I understand why the world thinks Philadelphia's
gonna win.

Speaker 5 (12:31):
But I'm gonna tell you though, the Rams get the
defensive effort like they got last night. It's uh, you
may be in for a little something and it will.
I don't know. I'm trying to think what sets up
for the biggest blowout. Maybe Detroit Washington, if Washington, if
if if the rookie plays like a rookie, which he
hasn't played like a rookie much this year. Day this
has been great, So I know, I think we're in

(12:53):
for a fun divisional weekend.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
I think that's the that's the game that could be
a blowout. Lines and Commanders. I think Eagles and Rams
will be a tough one. Bills and Ravens is going
to be insane with those two quarterbacks, and then of
course Derek Henry running the football for Baltimore, and then
Chiefs Texans. If the Texans defense plays like it did last.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Week, they'll be in it. They will be in it, Yeah,
they will be in it.

Speaker 5 (13:14):
Just so, the chess match for me is Slowik against
Spagnola more than Andy Reid versus Tamiko Ryans because the truthfully,
the Chiefs are a little The Chiefs aren't exactly the
most talented offensive roster in the league. They just have
the quarterback that makes everybody look better. Yeah, not that
they're not good. I can't go fifteen to two not
be good. But their offense hasn't been the oh my
gosh offense we've seen, and it hasn't really been that

(13:36):
way the last two years. Yeah, they know how to
kick into survival mode better than anybody in the league though.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Yep, they sure do.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Head coach of the Houston Texans Demiko Ryan spoke to
the media yesterday about the unique Kansas City Chiefs and
how they that defense is going to have to stop
Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Let's hear it, discuss it next. W's like seven toinety.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 6 (13:57):
And his name is Sure Really we're.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Find sports Talk seven here from head coach to be
Koe Ryan's. He spoke about the unique challenges that the
Kansas City Chiefs present to a defense they present.

Speaker 7 (14:13):
They present a unique challenge because you know, when you
talk about their skill position, they have five guys who
are all elite playmakers. Right, everybody they put on the
field that's ineligible has a chance to create an explosive
and make plays. And it's not always the explosive play
down the field. It can be you know worthy just

(14:33):
on a one yard pass and him turn it into
an explosive. So they they present probably the best, the
biggest challenge we've had we faced all year, and it
takes everyone. Right, That's why I talk about our defense
like it's gonna be a collective effort from everybody. It's
not just stopping one guy. It's not just stopping Kelsey. Right,
they have their running backs, it's really good. I don't

(14:55):
think I don't think pron gets them now a lot
of credit.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
But he's guy who's one of the.

Speaker 7 (15:01):
Smartest guys when it comes to pass pro protecting, blocking,
running routes. Like he's another guy you have that you
can't sleep on him as well. So they do a
really good job of Patrick does a really great job
just distribute in the football to whoever is open, and
it just reminds you of everybody makes the analogy of
the point guard in the NBA, but that's what he is.

(15:23):
He's truly point guard, and he's dishing the ball to
whoever is open. And it's not only down the field,
it's the short passes that guys open. He's getting the
football and those guys are converting and creating explosives. So everybody,
you know, sideline a sideline. We have to play with
great awareness, great odd discipline. We have to tackle really well.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
And that's a head coach to me.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Ko Ryans talking about the Chiefs offense, basically all the
playmakers throughout their roster with different guys, Madre p Ryan,
he talked about obviously Xavier Worthy being a downfield threat. Pachecko.
They got DeAndre Hopkins, I mean, and by the way,
they've got Travis Kelsey and Patrick Mahomes. So you gotta

(16:04):
take a total defensive effort to stop this Kansas City
Chiefs defense, excuse me, offense.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
It will and you may the names may not wow
you as far as oh, they've got this superstar and
Jefferson and Chase but Worthy speed, Kelsey's you know, as
good as we've ever had tied in position catching the football.
They'll run it better than you think because they'll set
it up and they'll get efficiency out of it. Screen

(16:30):
games ten or twelve times, they're going to run a
screen which is going to be like a run, and
they play great in space. They're smart, and their defense
will get after you. But he's right, you got to defend.
You got to defend the whole thing, plus the arm
of the quarterback. He's not afraid to take crazy shots
and do some different things, and his feet are underrated.
We've seen him by time and extend play. So this

(16:51):
will be a tough task. It's the toughest task of
the year. Not because it's not Buffalo or Detroit. It's
because it's in Kansas City. It's January. You're coming off moment,
they're rested. They know how to win here. Does that
mean they're invincible, Absolutely not. They're beatable. But somebody's only
been able to do it really once this year because

(17:11):
their starters didn't play against Denver for the most part.
So if they're an average fifteen and two team, if
that's the way people are, not explodes fifteen two, I'm
sure they'll take it. Andy reads brilliant with these type
of things. And I don't care what the score is.
We've seen the score being down with Mahomes on that
side before and they know what that feeling's like. So

(17:34):
you can be three touchdowns up and with that guy
with the football and Andy Reid com plays.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
It's not safe.

Speaker 5 (17:38):
So advantage the advantage Chiefs, no doubt, But all the
talk during the week doesn't mean a hill of beans
because none of us are playing. I give them a
legitimate shot, especially if they give me what they gave
me last week then and give us what they gave us,
then they've got a real chance.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Can they actually do this?

Speaker 3 (17:57):
They go into Arrowhead, Yeah, well and beat this Chiefs
team in January.

Speaker 5 (18:02):
I think the defense right now knows that they can
play with anybody. I think we've seen that all year long,
so I don't think you have to convince them go
do it two times in a row. I've seen it
more than once in a row. They've given up some
place throughout the year, but that defense flies, man, and
that's what you want. They're playing really good football right now.
Do I think the offense deep in their soul, I

(18:23):
mean every athlete, I would imagine they played confident last week,
But deep in their soul, do they believe that they
can play average and be in this game? Absolutely not.
I think the offense realizes that they have to play great.
Listen the effort they put in the offense against the
against the Chargers, that still won't be enough.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Why because you started too late? You know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (18:44):
They're going to have to give a little bit more effort.
I mean when I say effort the result. They're going
to have to play better for a quarter a half because
you don't want to be in a chase mode with them,
because then they'll just control it and do their thing.
They absolutely have a legitimate shot to win the game.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (18:58):
I mean, I know, the can't say the teams I've
seen from the past. I'm judging this year. How are
they going to be coming out of this by week?
Are they going to be? Is it rested and fresh
or is it rusty? But they've been doing this so long.
I don't think rust is going to stick long because
they get their quarterback completions quick, so it's hard. I
want to see the Chiefs protect the quarterback too, I do.
I want to see them protect the quarterback. They do

(19:20):
so many multiple things that helps with protection because the
ball comes out so quickly. So yeah, they can, Brian,
I mean, but I think that the put it this way.
I don't think anybody is as confident in the offense
as they are the defense, meaning the sustained consistency of it.
We know, and we said last week their potential says
if they can, if they live up to who they
are the team they have, the talent they have, they're

(19:42):
going to score points. And we finally saw an aggressive
kind of everything came together even though they started slow.
So I do believe they can go win. I don't
know if they're going to and I don't. I mean,
if I was a betting man, i'd bet them, But
I'm talking about straight up. If it was just a
bet and pick, would I take them on the money line?

Speaker 4 (19:59):
No.

Speaker 5 (20:00):
I think the Chiefs are have the advantage for a
lot of different reasons that we've just said. But you
get a defensive effort like that and force some turnovers
and you get an offense the efficiency of Stroud and
the big playability. Hell yeah, they can be in it.
But they they have not proven to themselves this year
that they can do it two times in a row. Offensively,

(20:23):
They're not winning the game this week thirteen to ten.
No in Cansey, You're just not. They're going to get
in the end zone. Yeah, and you have to match them. Yeah,
And so we'll see.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Who's the you know, like we talked about the University
of Texas and Ohio State and the one guy that
Texas couldn't let beat him would be Jeremiah Smith, you know,
the badass freshman wide receiver for Wi House.

Speaker 4 (20:45):
They didn't.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
They took him completely out of the game. Is that
Travis Kelce for this Texas? No, I don't think somebody else.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
No, it's still him, because just when you start to
shift your focus, he catches nine balls for a buck
thirty and two touchdowns. While he's not the same as
he may have been three years ago, he's still If
you play him singled up or play him off coverage,
he's they'll annihilate you. They just will' they It doesn't

(21:11):
matter who they are. That guy knows how to work
in space better than any tight end maybe in the
history of this game. He just he just has a
great feel for it. And Andy Reid knows when to
dial it. So yeah, he's the one. But I want
to tell you the thing that still concerns me though,
is and Demiko. Ryan's mentioned about tackling, and they're a
good there. Think about three years ago have bad a

(21:31):
tackling team? They were until he got here.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
They are now. They know how to tackle.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
What happens though, if you're overly aggressive and get misdirected
and they get somebody like a Worthy. See and you
heard Demiko say, it's not the explosive aren't coming from
just deep ballstone down the field. Their explosives usually come
from a catch and run. And you get guys like
Worthy in space with the football you can take. He
can take a smoke screen or a now screen and
turn it into a touchdown in the blink of an eye.

Speaker 4 (21:58):
So under ray about it's going to be.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
They're gonna talk about Andy Reid and Kelsey, Steve Spagnola
and Mahomes. But they've got some incredible speed on the
perimeter that Now it may not be for nine catches
to Worthy, but when you're that fast, you take four
for eighty five yards and one of them was sixty
yard screen for touchdown. That's where they make their hay
And but Kelsey's still the guy. Ah you'd have to

(22:22):
play a phenomenal defensive game, meaning that the Chiefs and
Mahomes would have everybody else would have to be sharp
if you could. If you took Kelsey out of this
game defensively, yeah, I think you greatly enhance your choices
as long as there's not sacrificing the rest.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
Of the defense.

Speaker 5 (22:37):
But you either got to find somebody like al Shire
or Toto who can be physical at deployt of attack Harrison. Yeah,
somebody Christian Harris who's long and can play that too.
Matter of fact, he's probably as good as any of
them when it comes to the ability to cover in
space and play man and physical enough.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
To do it.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
He's probably the guy. But even if you interchange, I
don't care. Just don't give him free run, Yeah, just don't. So, yes,
he is just like here. The truth for me is
if you make the Texans one dimensheal, even though they
did for a minute last week, Joe Mixon is still
the key. Yeah, you rush for twenty five yards, it
tells me you're in trouble because you're gonna be dropped
back and then Spagnola's gonna tee off.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
You saw it last night.

Speaker 5 (23:17):
They couldn't get going, so they have to drop back
and throw it forty times and that defense tied off
from the opening snap. You don't want to be in
that position. You have to at least have the threat
of the run. That's why Baltimore is so successful. Yeah,
Derrick Henry's presence in the backfield creates problems even if
he doesn't touch it, and you see what happens when
he touches it.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
Pretty good, There was a I saw a pretty good
breakdown of their offense. They have a couple of new
wrinkles that Todd Munkin put in. They line up Lamar
Jackson in like the slot, and they have Derreck Henry
in the wildcat, and they send Lamar Jackson in motion.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Where you can hand it too much, yes, Streme, Yeah,
oh my god.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
And you watch what the defense did, panic, oh my,
and its just wide open for Derrick Henry off the
left guard.

Speaker 5 (24:04):
And of course, but even if you threw a screen
like a bubble screen of Lamar Jackson in space, that
guy's the best running back on their team.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
Insane. I know, Derrick Henry, but the way you.

Speaker 5 (24:14):
Know, I love Monkins since he came out, you know,
when he left George, I've loved him.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
He's I think he's so good and brilliant.

Speaker 5 (24:20):
But that that's the problems you post think about this
though Rams can run it, even though Stafford Rams can
run it, but go go to to uh think about
the think of almost like the year of the running Back.
Even though it's we don't say that very often. Look
what Barkley's done to Philly. Take a look at what
when Pacheco and Samaji're in there together, they still can

(24:42):
physically handle you. Adding Joe Mix into this, just think
of the post the running game Jamier gibbson Detroit go
all over this cook in Buffalo underrated this year. I'm
gonna tell you something. He continues to do what he
did last week, Baltimore is gonna have a hard time
because there they are him in space. Is so you
start to look and we say, oh man, that and

(25:03):
them and that team and that. Listen, while we talk
about defense and quarterbacks, you don't run it.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
It's not a good thing. And we got some teams
that can flat ass run it.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Yeah, let's continue to talk about running the football. What's
the one must for this Texans offense against the Chiefs defense.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
That's next right here on Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 3 (25:22):

The Shawn Salisbury Show continues.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
For the Rockets.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
Also walk off Discovery Green or whatever that thing is
called down there by the Toyota Center playing the parade.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
But you don't you don't want to go to FM
fourteen sixty three and Katie fulsh er, Why no, there's
too much, too much construction. Is that ever gonna get
figured out? Off only twenty seven?

Speaker 4 (26:59):
Yeah, there's on.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
My ass will be living on about three acres in
Montgomery County by then. You know, I'm feel get you
a barn dough.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
Oh, that's that's that's next.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
There's plenty and plenty of room up where I'm at.
Come on up, barn on my ass. Come on man,
throw big bashes at the crib man. Maybe maybe in
Triple will get invited.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
Oh, you guys would be the first to be in
to work the party. Yeah, both you guys. Guys, you
guys will floating around in chaps.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
Yeah, me and you Triple. Can I help you?

Speaker 8 (27:35):
You know what?

Speaker 4 (27:35):
Do you what do you want to drink? And they
turned around and you just gotta you.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Know what those you're not You're not above that though,
because you did that and when you were in the
NFL off season.

Speaker 5 (27:46):
Isn't that crazy between seasons Early in my career, did
catering in the off season served drinks and or dirvs
at big Christmas.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Party wild while you're an NFL quarterback.

Speaker 5 (27:58):
NFL quarterback and one party I'm invited to in Cherry Hills,
Colorado that the catering we had to go cater Dan Reeves,
the head coach, he's coaching in the league, and I'm
serving him. Would would you like a Would you like
a pig and a blanket? Can if your drink?

Speaker 4 (28:20):
Sir? Yeah? Would you like a pig in a blanket?

Speaker 5 (28:22):
And I got my bow tie on, white shirt, black pants,
and I mean I was that was hot.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
You just ask me.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
But it's a humbling experience because you know, when I
first started coming in League eighty two, five rookie year salary,
so you're so you know you're making six figures. Yeah,
now as a rookie you can't make any thing less
of like six.

Speaker 4 (28:47):
Them.

Speaker 5 (28:48):
But it's a humbling experience when you're like, Okay, I
just want to, you know, make extra money. I didn't
have kids yet, but and the truth is, I've always
been like to learn something new. But all so, who knows,
maybe you want to own a catering business money, But
for me, it was to make extra money support my
family because my dad always told me, if you got
to work four jobs to make sure your family do it.

Speaker 4 (29:08):
You do it. Yeah, if you.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
Want to buy, then how you're gonna get ahead? Well, dad,
I played with that. I don't care you. You're not
above taking the trash out, mowing alanago, getting a job
in your off season like all the pros used to
have to do all the time. Well, I'm serving and
I go up and can I get you picking the blanket?
Dan would like some muster with that?

Speaker 4 (29:29):
Uh? Would you like that? Neat or with ice? Then?

Speaker 5 (29:35):
Little did they know, Yeah, a handful of years later, Yeah,
I was going to go into Denver and be the
NFL Player of the week in Then in Denver against El,
there you go. You see that pad of the back
real quick. So I got I got out of my
now I I obviously I am saying that tongue in cheek.
It was one of the great times of my life.
Don't think I didn't remember it. It was nobody's fine.

(29:56):
Don't think you go back in there and say, are
you in this same in Cherry Hills, which is like
a plush are that? I just say, above my pay grid,
that's it. That's the river Oaks of that or the
Highland Park of Dallas, right, and so I mean you
going right, It's like, come on, man, you're like, this
has got to be a CEO. That guys owns this company.

(30:18):
This guy's an athlete, you know, one of those and
way above my pay grade. But because my humble background
as far as paycheck to paycheck now and then you
go then you do think of it saying, oh, back
in Denver, it's a good time to have a great game.
And I, like I said, I wasn't meaning that in
an arrogant way, but fun. But I can tell you
what it proved me. I'll never be above any job. Okay, hell,

(30:41):
my my son's a chef. I think it's in. My
daughter had catering business. So I but back then, you're like,
at that time time you actually think you're above it, right,
because my time, I'm in my early twenties, I'm a
quarterback in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
How dare me have to go work? Right? Well, that's
the way was all the time with my dad, and.

Speaker 5 (31:02):
I learned that in my NFL career, I worked in it,
and I did an off season job every year. I
worked at Honeywell, I worked at American Express Financial. I
mean I tried to every year to eliminate what I
knew I didn't want to do in my career as
a whether it radio or tea, I didn't So it
was a great experience for me. But the way you played,
I wasn't even thinking about it that he said, yeah,
pick in a blanket? How would you like that? Ketchup too?

(31:22):
Or just mustard Dan?

Speaker 4 (31:24):
Would you like that?

Speaker 9 (31:25):
Neat?

Speaker 4 (31:25):
Can I get you? I Tan put that on ice?
I'm about to put your ass. I'm just kidding. And
what a great human being.

Speaker 5 (31:30):
But you know, it was just it was just a
it was a like I out of out of body
step aside experience, like looking across the room saying, that's
a head coach in the NFL and I'm playing and
I'm serving him. But you know what, it was a
great lesson did we can all do whatever it takes
mat Yeah, it's like that. I actually I'm grateful for
it and I never forget it.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Yeah, I worked h I worked it gow. What was
that golf store? Uh not PJ Superstore.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
What's the other one? Golf Galaxy? Galaxy in Dick's.

Speaker 3 (32:01):
Yeah, well back then it was just golf, right, and
then they involved Smith right, and then Golf Galaxy and
then Golf Galaxy Golf Smith merged together, and then Dick
came in and bottom. But anyway, I worked some retail jobs. Yeah,
not for me, that's not that I forgot this. My
first year in Minnesota after the CFL hard pass. We
got there in the off season. You know what I did.

Speaker 5 (32:20):
I got a job at sax With that I was
sas had to learn it. You know, the skews all yeah,
and all that's not fun. Oh no, and dressed in
a coke go to work. For my freshman year of college.
You were at Sacks. Yeah, downtown and it was it
Sacks or what's the other? Not that Nordstrom. It was Sacks.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
You got Sacksmith Avenue you have, you got Nordstrom? And
then what's yeah, Oh my gosh, I can see that's
right down the road here in the gallery.

Speaker 5 (32:44):
I'm pretty sure what Saxby. You can look in downtown Minneapolis.
I think there's the Sacks there. And I walked in
there and was in the men's clothing department. No, no, lie,
And I'm gonna go and I'm gonna be in may
Camp a few months after that.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
God, what is that that fancy ass store that's right
down the road here.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
I'll find it during the break. Where do you what's
the one right here at the galleria?

Speaker 1 (33:04):
That's why.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
That's it's right there's it's a.

Speaker 5 (33:07):
Standalone right when you walk in the mall's on the
parking lot. That one there's Sacks. It might what's the
other it's the other one that's high end. It's right there.
I don't have like a parrot as their I don't
know what it is, but it wasn't Nordstrom, and.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
Oh my gosh, it's gonna bother me.

Speaker 5 (33:23):
It was a high But I'm like getting there. I'm like,
now I got to go through this and learn how
to work the register and all that stuff.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
It's the worst. It's the worst. I worked at Hollister. Yeah,
my freshman year of college during the winter, like holiday season.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
No, like, listen, man, any good work, any honest works,
good work. It doesn't matter, Marcus. That's the one I'm
thinking about. I can't remember with Sacks. I think it's
still a Sacks. I don't think it was Niemens, but regardless,
it was another experience of my ethical interview. Would sit
there and tell out, I'm like I haven't filled out
a job applicated, you know, because if you don't get
the job or a resume, My resume is hopefully I

(33:58):
was good enough for college to get a chance to play.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
But that too, so that you might have that in
the back. Let me check me. Yeah, I'll be right back.
I'll bring you some options fitting people for shoes.

Speaker 5 (34:10):
Yeah, I've had some good but you know what valuable
lesson And it's not even humbling because the jobs just
humbling because at that age you think I'm a quarterback
and I'm a football player, but you know what your
football player, as long as you can still hang in.
But it was still it was it's good to learn
that no matter what you gotta, you gotta take care
of you family. Yeah, I don't matter how many that.
My dad looked at me, said, you you, I don't

(34:32):
care if it means four jobs. Yeah, you go work.
I've got to work four jobs. You're doing it. And
my dad, well he was, he said. My dad didn't
have any other than to say, good for you.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
You go work. You're working.

Speaker 5 (34:42):
You're serving Dan Reeves drinks and and good make more
money for your family and probably help you appreciate your
NFL career even more.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
I remember during the holiday season, you know a lot
of guys, like when my dad was in the construction
plumbing company, excuse me, a lot of guys taking time
off to me with the family.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
My dad was doing side jobs and make extra money.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
Just some guys, you know when agree when they'd hire
ups drivers to deliver stuff. And I considered that because
you know, you pump or you think about a construction
crew in the off season. You know, flagmen were making
my town back and then they're making big money, right,
so you did that. All that stuff did and I
had different jobs in college every summer. We had to
make money and stuff, and it was I uh, it was.

(35:20):
It was great for me to understand that you can
survive without sports. Yeah, it really was, even though at
that age you're thinking that's it's it's either.

Speaker 4 (35:29):
Football or done. Yeah, yeah, I'm done right.

Speaker 5 (35:31):
Well, then you're you're thirty something and you had a
whole life to live. So my dad and mom taught
me a valuable lesson and I never you know, nobody
should ever apologize, no matter what job.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
If you're working an honest living, Yeah, good for you,
Good for you.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
Ninety it's open up the phone lines to you, the
Texans fan. Also a little rockets they win last night.
What's the one must have for the Texans on offense
this week against the Chiefs?

Speaker 4 (35:56):
Next? You're back. This is the Sean Salisbury Show. Get
back at it.

Speaker 5 (36:05):
Hey, you can't interview with the Bears, but we're not
going to come to a contract agreement. Your contracts up.
We can't come to an agreement. Gone, okay. Jerry Jones
is the worst GM. I wonder if he'll get a job,
Michael get a job before the Cowboys hire their coach.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (36:21):
Probably a couple of things that I believe. This is
no inside information because I haven't asked these guys, But
Mickey Loomis has a long time.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
Relationship with Mike McCarthy.

Speaker 5 (36:30):
He was in New Orleans years ago when Jim Haslett
and that group was a coach. So McCarthy he knows Mike.
I wouldn't be surprised if that's an interest. We obviously
the Bears obviously had an interest. But I would imagine
Ben john the longer it takes, everybody knows who the
top candidate is.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
Right, Yeah, Ben Johnson. As long as they're planning.

Speaker 5 (36:50):
And then the other side is is uh with Mike,
But will Jerry Jones be willing to hire a guy
who's got more more power or at least perceived more
power in the building. It is the face of the organization.
I'll bet you Michael Irvin has been in Jerry's ear
about Dion through and through.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
I'll bet you yes.

Speaker 5 (37:11):
The question is, I mean, didn't Deon say that the
coaching NFL guys would buy me because they make more money,
all that, that that he wanted to be a college guy. Yeah,
but last night, excuse me, a lot of money will
change that. Adam Schefter, I mean, every every big time
NFL reporter has reported that Jerry Jones has spoken with

(37:31):
Deon Sanders about the team's head coaching vacancy, and that
discussions are expected to continue. You'd have to take it
if you're Dion, I think right, n I L collective,
your kid's gone. It's the Dallas Cowboys, regardless. Witch to Jerry,
it's the Dallas Cowboys. He has history there, the Michael

(37:52):
Irvins and Emmetts, and and that they'll Akman's will come
out in force because of you know, they may still
already but because you know, Dion's one of their fraternity
brothers when it comes to football teammates. He's done some
good things to Colorado and turned them around. The question
is could he handle well guys try to Oh that's prime,

(38:13):
you know, with their buddy buddy. I've always guard against
that because EON's got an engaging personality and to be
able to make sure that these guys understand that's what's
hard on a former player.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
There's still close. You know, Dion's in his what fifties, It's.

Speaker 5 (38:26):
Still hard because you almost feel like Dion was playing
three because all of his media presence and he's been everywhere. Yeah,
what I mean, he really has. He's been ubiquitous, you
know what I'm saying. So here we are with this.
How do you turn the Cowboys down? I mean, no
disrespect to Colorado. If you're just a lifetime college guy,
at least you got scratched the itch if the Cowboys
offer it.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
Yeah, I don't see how he turned that down. The
question is.

Speaker 5 (38:51):
Can the players and he separate themselves eighteen year old
guys in college nineteen Now he's dealing with a thirty
three year old. It's been in a league a few
years and just I mean, I know they respect him,
but to be able to keep the you worry about that.
We worried about it with all kinds when you become there,
when you hang around him as an assistant or their
teammate first, can you But Vrabel's been able to do it.

(39:14):
Some guys you know, been able to do it as well. Yeah,
that's what I'm saying. So I think you can. And
Dion's one of those guys that free agents. People are
are drawn to him. They just are. He's magnetic, whether
you like the way coach or he's magnetic soul. I
would imagine that they're going to make a hard push
whether he goes with it or not. Now Jerry does

(39:37):
have has no shot. If I'm Dion, I want to
make sure Jerry knows it that Hallway interview with somewhere else,
Yeah exactly. And because Dion's going to want to be
the show, oh yeah, make no mistake about it, no doubt.
And so that's his personality. Will Jerry be willing to
sacrifice that? Or is their room for two of them?

Speaker 3 (39:53):
We've got Troy Aikman spoke about the Dallas job. I'm
gonna save that for the stake out though, So that's
coming up at seven fifteen. Let's scrab rodre real quick
and then we'll get at the top of the hour. Roger,
thanks for all.

Speaker 9 (40:02):
Good morning, Good morning, gentlemen. It goes without saying.

Speaker 10 (40:06):
I just want to say, what a great show you guys,
what great team you guys put together with with with.

Speaker 9 (40:11):
Triple le and you and and and of course the man,
the man.

Speaker 10 (40:15):
In the middle, Sean Salisbury, you talk calling you guys
the triplets. Anyway, So going on with the Texans man,
I really think we could say in this ball game
of two factors are true. One that one element of
Stroud's game, the lake dormant all sees along, which is
his wills and spend pre staff penalties and and also

(40:38):
you know post staff.

Speaker 9 (40:38):
Penalties when you know you get a penalty after the
after the play.

Speaker 10 (40:41):
If we can control all that emotions and uh, they
run deep, specially games like this, I get it. I
just think that we match up with the Chiefs better
than any any better than you know, the Bills or
the or the Ravens.

Speaker 9 (40:54):
And I just feel that if we can just control
what we can control, and and you know kind of
I know you can't just stop my homes believe you
can just sort of bottle them up and and and
and and and.

Speaker 10 (41:06):
Play and play some and man cap coverage on on
mister Worthy over there with Stingley.

Speaker 9 (41:11):
I just think we got a chance.

Speaker 10 (41:14):
Under the rockets, gentlemen, is no longer to sample size.
I'm pretty sure we're looking at the real deal here,
and what I see is very nice.

Speaker 6 (41:22):
I like it a lot.

Speaker 10 (41:23):
I think I think the guys are gonna go to
the playoffs with the team they have there, which is
I I totally I'm totally on board with that. I
don't really think we need another.

Speaker 9 (41:33):
Outside guy, and you might need a shooter, but I
just I don't.

Speaker 10 (41:37):
I'm not saying anybody that's really gonna help us, like
get over get over the humped in a massive and
in a massive aspect like that, Not this season anyway.
If they're gonna do a move like that, they should
wait till the offseason. I really like what this team
is looking looking like. And uh, that's all I got. Fellas,
have a great day.

Speaker 3 (41:54):
Appreciate you, Roger. Let's let's get into the seven o'clock hour.
Those rockets.

Speaker 5 (42:00):
And the one thing we can discuss is that you
got to deal with the early onslaught of fan that early.
You know where you come out of the locker room.
First quarter is going to be monster thistion this week,
it really is. Yeah, you can't fly on around so
to not hyper ventilate come out of that locker room.
I don't mean literally, but it can happen. You gotta
settle in quick.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
Jalen Green last night, real quick, lasting on the Rockets
after Rogers call. Forty two points for Jalen Green eleven
eleven from the free throw line, five to six from
three point land.

Speaker 4 (42:30):
My goodness, he lit the roof on the fine When
you brought him here, you knew he could score. Jesus May.
He's a talented player and he is getting better every year.

Speaker 3 (42:39):
Yeah, Cam went more sixteen points off the bench in
twenty one minutes. Aman Thompson nineteen points, thirteen rebounds. You
had Alprin Shngoon seventeen points, eight rebounds, and then Jalen Green,
like I said, led the way with forty two points.

Speaker 4 (42:52):
Rockets win.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
They are now twenty six and twelve on the season.
They'll they're off tonight. They'll play the Denver nuggets Tomorrow,
let's get into seven o'clock. We'll talk more Texans. The
one must have for the offense and a fast start
is a need for Houston.

Speaker 5 (43:07):
That's next, Hey, witsit vision dot com, Doctor Jeff Witz
at wh I T s E T t wits it
vision dot com. Your LASI guy precede your guy, your
eyecare guy. And I think he's the best on the planet.
He's done tens of thousand of these, like five billion
of them. I'm sure it feels like that to him
sometimes because he's always there for you and he'll walk

(43:28):
you through it if you have any questions about your
LASIK procedure. It's not invasive, you won't be on the
table long and recovery's quick. And I'm so grateful for
it because I wasn't a glasses or contact guy for me,
and it just made life simpler without having taken three
care you know, readers in contacts and glasses. Now I
don't have to do that, and I've got a great
doctor who cares about me. And it's a boutique feel

(43:48):
because he lives in our town and you'll see him
at church art, your grocery store, at your golf course.
You don't have to fly somewhere to some big conglomerate
and go get eyecare. And he's definitely not an assembly
line eyecare guy, where hey, let's just keep knock come
out and sending you on your way like some of
the big ones do. That's not who doctor Whitst is.
He cares, and he cares about you. And again he
treats you like your family, and he did mine. And
I've seen him better than I absence the prime of my vision,

(44:10):
jump all over it. Seven one three, three, six, five, nine, seven,
nine nine. We've got your payment plan. And also there's
always great deals going on with doctor Whitst. It's wits

Speaker 3 (45:09):
Rockets beat the Grizzlies, Rams take down the Vikings. Final
wildcard game of the NFL Playoffs comes to a close.
Cowboys and their head coach Mike McCarthy parting ways. Texans
getting ready to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in
the divisional round of the playoffs is coming Saturday.

Speaker 4 (45:28):
Teez.

Speaker 3 (45:29):
The last segment talking about what a one must have
is for this offense, and it's the run game, Sean.
So let's look at the Kansas City Chiefs defense when
it comes to running the football against them. They are
number eight in the league during the regular season, allowing
a little over one hundred yards rushing.

Speaker 4 (45:51):
Pretty stout defense, very much so. And you've got to
control Chris Jones.

Speaker 5 (45:56):
I think there's a little bit of a and we
all say it, you TV and radio and any when
your conversation social media got it.

Speaker 4 (46:03):
You got to run it. You can't win.

Speaker 5 (46:05):
And I think in case now, unless the other team
can't run it and their quarterback plays like ass, then
you probably still can win. But in truth, let's say
mix and rushes for a buck twenty five. But CJ
has a bad game, they're not gonna win, right. So
in truth, it's almost as if the quarterbacks and no brainer,

(46:28):
the quarterback has to play well in all cities.

Speaker 4 (46:31):
It's rare.

Speaker 5 (46:33):
As matter of fact, I don't think of any of
the Baltimore Ravens like I'll continue to lean on that
may be able to win a game now, not in Buffalo.
Early they may have been able to win their game
against Pittsburgh if Lamar played average the way Derrick Henry
ran it. They can because they can be so dominant
and their defense has become dominating last four what four
to six weeks they played really good, but they can

(46:54):
run it so well. But in the in truth, if
if Patrick Mahomes plays poorly this week, I don't see
how the Kansastity Chiefs win as long as Stroud didn't
play poorly and throw it to the other team as well,
right and get field goal kicking contests, and then then
it's both six and one a half dozen the other
because both can kick. So for me we say that

(47:15):
that now, I do believe that if you're if Stroud
goes out and plays well like you did last week,
but you don't run it at all, I think you're
gonna have trouble winning.

Speaker 4 (47:24):
But the opposite is true.

Speaker 5 (47:25):
You can go out run it well and Stroud plays poorly,
you're not You're not going to Kansasity win. So that
that that holds the case. But yes, the key is
to make Stroud, which will assist Stroud in playing a
lot better, is short yardage situation where you're third and
four or less, second and six or five or less.
And Joe Mixon is going to be a big part

(47:45):
of that. And he just has to be because the tea,
the teams that can get after the quarterback love one
dimensional football teams and that's why balance. That's why you
see you guys preach balance and you try to get
to it. Now, if you get down three touchdowns and
game plans out the window and you got to adjust.

Speaker 4 (48:02):
But he's the key.

Speaker 5 (48:04):
There is no doubt that if you're Kansas City, you're
going in saying we have got to stop Joe Mixon first. Yeah,
they absolutely know that.

Speaker 3 (48:12):
When you look at the run game for the Chiefs,
it's interesting because throughout this entire season, a fifteen and
two season, their one loss came to Buffalo in Buffalo
on Sunday, November seventeenth. In all but two of their
games they rushed for under one hundred yards. They only
rushed over one hundred yards twice, once back in October
and then again in early November twice.

Speaker 5 (48:35):
Well, fifteen's pretty good, so he can overcome it. But
I can tell you another thing is, now, do the
screen game how many balls were caught between zero and
five yards and that'll tell you that's the add of
add ten or fifteen runs to that a game, and
add however many yards they got out of it.

Speaker 4 (48:51):
Then exkews different.

Speaker 5 (48:53):
Now it completely changes what their numbers look like because
they're one of the best slow screen and the quick
teams in the league.

Speaker 4 (49:01):
Andy Reid's always run this. He ran the slow screen
in Philly a lot.

Speaker 5 (49:04):
And they're more importantly, they're a ball out quick screen,
get it to anybody you can, so they can offset
pass rush. So it's a little misleading, but yeah, just
in the straight run game. No, they don't line it
up and beat you run the football like Barkley's team,
like Mixon does here Derrick Henry. But they they fudge
on it a little bit by throwing a bunch of
screens at equal to run.

Speaker 4 (49:25):
They just do.

Speaker 5 (49:26):
But yes, they're they're not a matter of fact, looking,
find me a category, individual or team where the Chiefs
are in the top five offensively. Now, maybe they are,
like in red zone touchdowns. I'm just talking about whether
it's Kelsey in the top five in receptions this year.
That answer would be no. Mahomes hasn't been in the

(49:47):
top five quarterbacks this year. Numbers wise, go around and
find me. There's no receiver with it ninety catches on
the perimeter a there's no running back. There was a
threat to go to the Pro Bowl. Show me where
there are offense at fifteen and two. Is in the
top five in any category? Not yards, maybe third down efficiency,

(50:07):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (50:07):
Know ours per game, not passing per game, not rushing
per game, not even points per game.

Speaker 5 (50:12):
That yeah, And then you do individuals, and you're going
to be hard pressed that's anybody in the top five
in any category, I mean top ten. Can't say's not
even in the top ten for most of these categories.
Has eight team?

Speaker 3 (50:23):
Yeah, their offense, they are number nine in the league
passing the football passing per play percentage.

Speaker 4 (50:36):
Fifty number nine. But remember and again, those passes a
lot of them are horizontal. They played that.

Speaker 5 (50:43):
They play the sideway screen game as well as anybody
and use it as often as anybody. If you looked
at the numbers before you looked at the record, you'd say,
this team's average this year, they must have struggled to
make the playoffs. Then you look at the five record,
You look at the record, and you say, okay, how well.
I can give you a couple of reasons. They make

(51:04):
the plays at the right time. It's not messaging. It's
not just making plays. It's making place at the right time.
Not when you're down two touchdowns or up three touchdowns.
They make them when it's nut cut in time. Their
defense is dynamic, especially just physical. They'll give up plays,
but they they they're front seven. They will they will
pound you. And the quarterbacks just cut from a different cloth.

Speaker 4 (51:27):
Is this like it or not? Just this? And so
is the head coach? Fifteen to two in their offense,
there's been pedestrian most of the year.

Speaker 1 (51:36):
The quarterbacks.

Speaker 5 (51:37):
The quarter he didn't even like I said I could
get through nine guys because he's on a fifteen and
two team, But numbers wise, I can get through almost
ten guys.

Speaker 4 (51:45):
And he doesn't exist in the numbers game for they're
in the bottom half.

Speaker 3 (51:49):
They're number sixteen in the league, bottom half when it
comes to pointsberg game offensively.

Speaker 5 (51:54):
Yeah, it's insane that And you know what doesn't that
always say? Okay, are we always judging quarterbacks what they
do with less or when they're not hitting on all
cylinders or they're not dominating, everything's not perfect? Well, they're
fifteen and two. Mahomes was fifteen and one this year. Yeah,
he didn't start the last one. Fifteen and one. Tell

(52:15):
me he just doesn't know how to win. He just
knows how to win. Yeah, that whole cold or not,
they know how to win to win. Yeah, that's that's
the heavy advantage in this game. For the that the
Texans LLA have to face heavy advantage Kansas City when
it comes to understanding and navigating these type of games.

Speaker 3 (52:32):
Passing yards per game, they are number fourteen in the league,
two hundred and twenty two.

Speaker 4 (52:35):
Just just another they're just roast. Guy's middle of the road,
no doubt about it. And they just win.

Speaker 5 (52:40):
And there's nothing middle of the road about him when
it comes to winning championships and winning playoff games.

Speaker 4 (52:44):
I hate them.

Speaker 3 (52:45):
They're unbelievable, man, They just find ways to win. Let's
get to the stake out next here on the Shown
Salisbury Show.

Speaker 9 (52:52):
Who's who's showing.

Speaker 4 (52:54):
He's the y sternal judge who sits on high he
has the final say on all disputes.

Speaker 1 (53:00):
Back to the Shawn Salisbury Show on Sports Talk seven
ninety All right, Sewan, what are you hearing out there now?
The Salisbury takeout, Salisbury Takeouts on the Seawan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 3 (53:31):
Time for the steak out. Here on the Seawan Salisbury Show,
Sean Brown a triple lee. Rockets beat the Grizzlies. Rams
beat the Vikings last night in the final wildcard game
of the NFL Playoffs. The Division round is set. Your
Texans will take on the Chiefs is coming Saturday. All
right for the steakout. Let's talk about these Dallas Cowboys.

(53:55):
Troy Aikman was on the call last night with Joe
Buck for that wild round between the Vikings and the Rams.
Prior to the game, he was on the pregame show
with Scott Van Pelt and he discussed this cowboys job. Well,
the cowboys are partying ways with Mike McCarthy and this
is the former Cowboys quarterback Hall of Famer Troy Yigman
talking about that.

Speaker 1 (54:18):
Good job.

Speaker 4 (54:18):
I don't know that that's accurate.

Speaker 11 (54:20):
I mean, I do think that.

Speaker 12 (54:22):
I do think the Cowboys are obviously a high profile team.
Whoever is covering or whoever is head coaching of that
team is certainly going to draw a lot of attention.
But I think most football people that take over as
a head coach, they want.

Speaker 11 (54:36):
To do it on their terms.

Speaker 12 (54:38):
Yeah, that's hard to do, and it's you know, if
you take a Dan Campbell, for instance, is Dan Campbell
Dan Campbell if he's with the Dallas Cowboys, It's hard
to imagine that he is.

Speaker 1 (54:46):
It's hard to imagine that a lot of these coaches
might be.

Speaker 13 (54:49):
So.

Speaker 4 (54:50):
I you know, I love the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 11 (54:52):
I played there for twelve years.

Speaker 9 (54:54):
I wish him well.

Speaker 12 (54:54):
But to say that it's a coveted job, I'm not
sure i'd necessarily agree with that.

Speaker 4 (55:00):
Troy Aikman on the pregame show with us Scott Van Pelt.

Speaker 5 (55:03):
Now tell me that doesn't take I mean, here's a
guy who's, you know, one of the golden boys of
the organization known Jerry for a long time broadcaster if
you're looking for a guy who's not mentioning words, he knows.
Just like I said about the New Orleans job, you're
gonna tell me I got to hire four or five
coaches that are on the staff, then I don't want
the job because you're basically stripping me of any decision
making product. And then if I fail, it's not on you,

(55:25):
it's on me. And I've had your coaches and it's
but it's anything. It's the face of the organizations having
the ability and power to make decisions. It's still the Cowboys,
and it obviously would be intriguing. I'm sure if it
was de honor any but the Cowboys are that star
on the field. It's always going to be intriguing. It
just is but coveted to where.

Speaker 4 (55:43):
You know you're going in there.

Speaker 5 (55:44):
In the second you walk in the building, you're basically
stripped of any power at all. You're gonna do exactly
what Jerry tells you. I don't think many people covet that,
but people will take it simply because they think they
can fix it. Inst the Dallas Cowboys, that's a lot
of money. So Aikman spot on. I like the fact
that he didn't because that was he's not on their
payroll anymore. No, that's when people say, well, you can't

(56:04):
criticize that. Damn the Vikings paying me, I ain't on
their payroll. Think so, yeah, exactly, and Aikman's not getting
paid by the Cowboys. Okay, So it's okay to feel
that way because he just admitted what most of us know. Yeah,
and it's a fact, but it's coveted in the fact
that it's Cowboys. It's not coveted in the fact that

(56:24):
you think you're gonna have autonomy to do whatever you want.

Speaker 11 (56:27):
You're not.

Speaker 3 (56:29):
So I have some thoughts on this real quick, and
I want to get your your breakdown of it as well.

Speaker 4 (56:35):
Excuse me.

Speaker 3 (56:36):
We know that Jerry Jones is a fantastic marketer of
his franchise, one of the richest in the land, but
just how he himself handles negotiations, coaching decisions, money, roster
moves is it's embarrassing. They didn't do a damn thing

(56:58):
in free agency last year. They took all their sweet
time creating unnecessary drama with Ceedee Lamb and Dak Prescott.
They waited until the very last moment to get those
deals done, They made Mike McCarthy finish out his contract,
blocked him from interviewing with the Bears last week, only
to part ways with him. And then, oh, by the way,

(57:21):
they benched Cooper Rush to avoid paying him a two
hundred and fifty thousand dollars incentive for playing fifty five
percent of the snaps on the year. Sure, he was
at fifty two percent. All he needed was like five
or six more snaps and he gets the incentive. And
Jerry Jones tried to say, well, I didn't know about that.

Speaker 4 (57:37):
Sure he didn't. You're the GM, Yes you did, Yeah,
if he did, And somebody told him this is embarrassing, man.

Speaker 3 (57:44):
He is the worst GM in all of sports, not
just the NFL, all of sports.

Speaker 5 (57:51):
Jerry operates out of ego when it comes to being
the GM. Out of marketing.

Speaker 4 (57:54):
He's brilliant, yes, there is no doubt about it, as
good as there is, but Jerry's ego and emotions getting
away of him being a general manager, and as a
general manager, you can't feel that. You just can't. You
cannot have that. Now.

Speaker 5 (58:06):
Did they go into Mike McCarthy and fire him or
do they go in and say basically they fired him
without firing him by saying here, I guarantee you they
didn't give him the length or the type of money
that you would normally give a head coach. I'll bet
you they didn't try to give him much of a
pay raise, and not for the years he wanted. Put
him in probably in quicker lame duck lame duck status,
or told him who he needed to hire his assistance,

(58:28):
or was going to tell him he had to fire
a bunch of assistants. Those are the things. And he
may have said no, no, I'm not doing that. Yeah,
and good on him. But the fact of the matter is,
was it fired or did he leave because they couldn't
come to an agreement. That agreement must have been a
horrible offer for him to say, I'm leaving the Dallas
Cowboys because there's no guarantees and they'll get another job.

Speaker 4 (58:49):
He was in house there. So, yeah, it's not coveted
because of all those reasons that you and I just
mentioned yea, and that Akman was talking about.

Speaker 5 (58:57):
It's coveted because it's the Dallas Cowboys. But you don't
have the movement like you don't have the freedom like
Tom Landry or Jimmy Johnson did even when Jerry was
first there. Hence why it ended for that Jimmy and Jerry,
because in truth is if Jerry wanted to win a
couple more Super Bowls even with Barry and then after
that Jimmy Johnson should have stayed there ego pride and
thinking you can do everything. I don't know many people

(59:19):
that were the best orthopedic surgeon in the world and
also the number one lawyer or you know, a defense
lawyer on the planet. I think you probably got to
choose one or the other right law school or medical school.
And it's the same thing here. You're an owner, do it?
How many owners? With all he's got going on, do
you think Jerry sits and watched tape of every college player?

Speaker 13 (59:37):
No? Did?

Speaker 4 (59:37):
They're interested in drafting? Shouldn't he? He should? He's the GM.

Speaker 5 (59:40):
If Nick Cassario's not watching in endless reels of tape
on his players that he's going to draft, shame on him. Now,
you're scouting department has to feed because they're not enough
hours in the day, but you got you have to.
Is Jerry doing that other than once in a while,
somebody coming to say, Jerry, you got to see this
guy doubt it or word of mouth. So as much

(01:00:01):
as I like Jerry, and I do as a general manager,
I think he sucks. And he's a big reason why
the Dallas Cowboys haven't got a Super Bowl ring on
their fingers since Troy Aikman.

Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
You think about it, just because of how long they
waited around and dragged their feet. They let an entire
week of head coaching interviews take place across all of
the NFL, and they didn't do a damn thing about it,
you know, because they didn't make a decision.

Speaker 4 (01:00:24):
Well, Jerry Jones didn't make it as well. What they
do in the off season for players, nothing okay, anything okay.

Speaker 5 (01:00:29):
Don't you think they're just arrogant enough to think we
don't need to Yeah, So don't you think Jerry's arrogant
enough to think this is the Dallas Cowboys job. If
you went and asked him what Troy just said, I'll
bet you a million bucks. If he was coming out,
if he was saying the truth, he'd say, I disagree
with Troy. This is the most coveted job.

Speaker 4 (01:00:45):
In the NFL. I can garant ask to you. That's
how Jerry thinks.

Speaker 5 (01:00:48):
Jerry thinks it's coveted because the Cowboys and they you
know it's Dallas Cowboys. It's not coveted, very red for
the very reason Jerry, if you were the owner, it'd
be coveted because we could do it.

Speaker 4 (01:00:57):
But as a general.

Speaker 5 (01:00:58):
Manager and you're hovering and helicopter GM, that doesn't I
guarantee you. He's not studying four hours, five hours, six
hours of tape a day, doesn't understand the all the personnel.

Speaker 4 (01:01:08):
So he's gonna have somebody feeding that. But he's a GM,
and it's his money. He can do what he wants.
But they're not winning stuper bowling time soon with the
way it's going.

Speaker 5 (01:01:16):
So it is like I said, I think they're arrogant
enough to let that week go by because you know
what they know then when they call it. See, if
I'm Dan Campbell, I don't leave for that job. Just
like Akeman said, Oh stay right in Detroit exactly. Your
team's better and you got you got more free rein
you're the face of the organization. But for Jerry, I

(01:01:39):
think he just air gonna have to think if I
want Dione, I'll get him. If I want Benjon. He
thinks that he didn't have to interview him that week
because oh, they'll they'll wait on me. I think that,
And there's no way you can tell me any different.
There's no way you can think that he was like
on urgency to do it. And he knew all along
that Mike McCarthy, I guarantee you wasn't gonna take whatever
he offered him.

Speaker 3 (01:01:59):
Do you know who the odds leader was going into
last night before the Dion Sanders news dropped to be the.

Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
Next head coach? Probably Dan Campbell. No, you're not even
on this list.

Speaker 5 (01:02:11):
Well he shouldn't be, but I've heard his name mentioned
Furio that because you know Dan played there and the
rest of it.

Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
Let's see the number one guy outside. Take Dean Sanders
out of the equation. Vrabel nope, Belichick nope. Who Kellen Moore?
Oh yeah, well the guy that they fired.

Speaker 5 (01:02:30):
You know what, that's a great point because like Jason Garrett,
Kellen Moore was hired and forced forced on the coach
as a man in as the man in waiting waiting,
and then I left to go be what Phillies offensive, right,
and so he still and oh you know that's that's
the perfect.

Speaker 4 (01:02:48):
I didn't even think about that because Kellen's interview and
he hasn't wanted to be Remember I told you we
were on here when he left to go be a
coordinated when he coach elsewhere? I said, was it Sandy?

Speaker 5 (01:02:56):
Was he with the Chargers before we went to before?
Just remember I said, well, he's gonna leave that job.
Why because he's coaches to be a head coach. He
doesn't coach. He does you know, flash and dash and
with Dak was there put up big numbers. Now, I
think Kellen Moore is a brilliant mind and he's a
good coach. He is, but he wasn't ready to be
a head coach two years ago. Now maybe he is now.

(01:03:16):
But he's the perfect for Jerry. He'll take that job
come hell or highway if Jerry offered it to him tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (01:03:21):
He's there. Yeah, coach the Cowboys, Jerry, you make all
the decisions. Just let me hire some staff and we'll go.
He's the perfect.

Speaker 5 (01:03:27):
Jason Garrett, Dave Campo, Kellen Moore, all the guys that
they're probably not standing in the line for although they're
respected and really good, and Jerry'll know.

Speaker 4 (01:03:37):
That he doesn't want to make a decisions. I'm going
to tell you.

Speaker 5 (01:03:39):
You'll know exactly how Jerry feels about this hiring job,
about the power in the building. When he hires a
guy like Kellen Moore. First, it's the it's the perfect
what's the word? He just kind of I can do everything,
and Kellen will do exactly what I want to. He's
a yes man. He'd be a yes man for Jerry Jones. Right, yeah,

(01:04:01):
how are you gonna excuse me? You know what, let's
get a break, Gus.

Speaker 4 (01:04:05):
No, I'm just telling you.

Speaker 5 (01:04:06):
I wouldn't even think thinking, you know what, Oh, that's right,
because he is the he's the he's the Jerry loved him.
He left to elevate his status, and they're winning Philadelphia,
and he'd be perfect because he's got some name value,
he's got some experience, he's a smart guy, and you
can control him in the building. Lamore's not gonna fight

(01:04:27):
Jerry over power. No, No, Telamor's trying to get a
head coaching job. He still looks like he's about fifteen.

Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
Right, he would take of course, he would taking an heartbeat,
of course he would seven three five, seven ninety is
the numbers of joints.

Speaker 4 (01:04:40):
Get a break.

Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
We'll continue this discussion about the cowboys. Also, we got
to talk about what the defense has to do for
the Texans to stop Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 4 (01:04:47):
That's next.

Speaker 5 (01:04:47):
Hey, country Boys, roofing country with the k Boys, with

No job too big, no job too sm Price gouging exists, folks,
whether you like it or not, and it does too
when it comes.

Speaker 4 (01:05:04):
To excuse me, putting a roof on.

Speaker 5 (01:05:07):
So when you get an estimate for your full roof,
one thousand dollars off when you mentioned my name, Sean,
and a thousand, five hundred dollars discount when you're a
first responder, if you're an educator, or if you're in
the military, you can't have both. And it's not on
partial roof, it's on all of it. But that's a
huge deal. When people know that your roof needs fixed,
there's a leak, you need to be safe and secure,

(01:05:28):
there's storms coming, all those things to get you through
this and head into the spring. So it's spring and
fresh and safe and then you're heading into you know what,
that season, a tornado and hurricane, all those things get
out in front of it, and having a safe, secure
roof is a something we probably take for granted and
don't look at enough. But Country Boy's Roofing will make
sure you're taking care of properly. Discount again, fifteen hundred

(01:05:50):
dollars off a full roof when it comes to military
first responders and educators, or a thousand off if you're
not one of those on your full roof. It's Country
Boys Roofing ll dot Com locally owned and operated, and
they are to the point I mean, they're they're your family.
They're they're small and boutique, but big enough to go

I mean. They'll know who you are and you'll know

(01:06:12):
who they are when the job's done. I promise Country
Boys Roofing John does it better than anybody country with
the k Boys with his e Countryboys ROOFINGLLC dot Com.

Speaker 1 (01:06:20):
And I live there for the Shawn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 5 (01:06:23):
Continued pressure that the Chiefs are the best at in
the league right now on the road in another environment
outside the Wildcard round, that'll be a big test. Let's
get out to Dennis. Dennis in the Woodlands. What's up man,
how you doing?

Speaker 14 (01:06:39):
Hey, good morning, Fellas refers to real Quick on the Cowboys.
What a clown show that organization is. You know, I'm
surprised Jerry jones Son hasn't walked up to him and
told him, Hey, Dad, maybe you need to step down
and hand the reins over to somebody else and actually
manage his organizations.

Speaker 6 (01:06:56):
They're talking about hiring Dion Sanders.

Speaker 14 (01:06:58):
Those are two big persons, I mean, I think, and
you're eventually gonna look at like a Billy Martin George
Steinbrener type situation if you had those two together.

Speaker 6 (01:07:07):
And then sean two weeks ago, I asked you what
you do with Sam Donald? How much money did he
lose the last two games?

Speaker 14 (01:07:14):
And now you just got to go to Sam Donald
say hey, I we'll offer you tim million for another year,
but that's about it.

Speaker 6 (01:07:20):
I'll get your get you being in hang up.

Speaker 4 (01:07:22):
See Dennis, that's such a great point.

Speaker 5 (01:07:24):
Yeah, the uh, the the Cowboys situation will I'm sure
work itself out somehow, but you're you're you're going into
a situation if you're the coach, You're not gonna have
a lot of latitude.

Speaker 4 (01:07:36):
They never do.

Speaker 5 (01:07:37):
Hence why they haven't sniffed a Super Bowl, because it's
they always say, you know, define roles for your people.
Jerry's defined them all for him. He's damn good Marketer.
He's not a good GM to the to the Sam Donald. Yeah, Dennis,
I I feel bad for him.

Speaker 4 (01:07:54):
I do you know the guy?

Speaker 5 (01:07:56):
He gambled on himself. The Vikings took a chance. Nobody
thought this what happened? He goes fourteen and three. The
problem is the last two losses were for home field
advantage throughout with everybody in the world to see on
a Monday night football to clinch and then two and
played poorly and then takes nine sacks, throws the ball
the other way, gives up a stripsack, fumble, held the

(01:08:19):
ball too long, did not play well these last two
games where it was two worst of the year, and
unfortunately they're the ones that everybody saw.

Speaker 4 (01:08:26):
Even his own team. You were looking at us now.

Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
It may still because you've got to depend on McCarthy's
health and getting back fully healthy, and you're going to
really be basically starting a rookie because he was a
rookie last year with no work. This year he'll be
a rookie again, although mentally he'll be ahead because he's
been in the playbook all year. Well, with Sam, he
lost a lot of money on that because if somebody
signs him, you know the going rate now for a quarterback.

(01:08:51):
If you're not making thirty million a year as your
full fledged starter, then then you're not even in the conversation.
For the most part, we're up in the fifties now
and Sam on a one year, ten million dollar deal.
The question is is Kevin O'Connell trust him enough to
say he'll be better under pressure because these were his
first two playoff games that he's been a player a

(01:09:11):
starter in and you say, Sean, we only had one, well,
I consider single elimination last game of the season a
playoff game. And he didn't play well and neither did
his offense. But it goes you know, they're going to
go quarterback play. That's kind of how we dictate the
offense usually. And then while some of it was on him,
a lot of those and on his offensive line can't
hold the ball that long in a game. It's a

(01:09:32):
playoff game with a Rams team that was relentless, and
he did not play well so and he wasn't as
sharp and precise, looked overwhelmed. And he's a fantastic guy,
never makes an excuse. I know his teammates love him.
But the question now is do you franchise him for
forty something for one year, which would be the going rate,
or do you say, Sam will offer you fifteen million

(01:09:53):
dollars for a year, reward you for a really good
regular season. But still they put it this way. The
question is going to land Dennis as that he even
did while he was winning, is who is Sam Donald?
Is it this year Sam? Or will he revert back? Well,
what he did is he opened up a can of
worms to say, oh, he looked like he was with
the Jets or Caroline of the last two games. He's

(01:10:15):
better than that. He's more like the guy you saw
during the regular season. But we judge him when it
comes to money, paying them and legacy by what they
do in the postseason mixed in with numbers in the
regular season. So I think Sam Donald, Oh, he can
start somewhere, but he's not going to get the money
he wanted. Now he comes back and kicks ass again
next year, and you know McCarthy stayed. JJ McCarthy's on

(01:10:38):
the bench. Then Sam will go get fifty five million
dollars for five years. But that these last two games,
that'll cut him deep when it comes to money. And
it's also those two games alone are going to make
the Vikings rethink if they want to bring him back.
They just are as a free agent, you're gonna have
to pay him more than ten million because somebody else would.
Are you willing to lose him for what's going to

(01:10:58):
in essence be a rookie quarterback? And is that who
Sam Darnold is?

Speaker 4 (01:11:02):
Now?

Speaker 5 (01:11:03):
Listen, how many guys have gone in and played a
playoff game and struggled quite a bit.

Speaker 4 (01:11:07):
Sure, but even then the optics were awful.

Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
Well, two games that are basically one was a playoff
game in the final regular season game was essentially a
playoff game. Yeah, and he picked those two games to
play his worst.

Speaker 4 (01:11:18):
Yeah he did.

Speaker 5 (01:11:19):
And so there's gonna be questions in the building and
outside the building. But Dennis, it cost him money, there's
no more importantly for him, it cost him what was
going to be a guaranteed starting spot if not in Minnesota,
somewhere else.

Speaker 3 (01:11:30):
I mean, if you want to keep him in Minnesota,
like you said, you said, it's like a month ago franchising.

Speaker 4 (01:11:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:11:35):
Now, though the question is, do you say, we're not
even gonna wait, we're not gonna franchise tag you. We're
going to offer you a fifteen million for one year,
take it or leave it? Yeah, and then he may
be forced to go because if you're the Tennessee Titans,
don't you say I can twenty five million? That's a
low rate for a starting quarterback. So I'm just using
teams out there that could use the guy. So I

(01:11:56):
hope they look long and hard and think that Sam's
better than he was these last two games. But pressure
is a bitch, man, it really is. It's a it's
a mother, and unfortunately they didn't deal with it. Well
neither did he the last two games.

Speaker 3 (01:12:08):
Well then there's also the Tennessee Titans do own the
number one pick, So.

Speaker 5 (01:12:12):
Yeah, I know, I'm just using them as an example. Well,
if it was me, i'd also look, is there one
in the second round? I unless you to me, if
you're the Tennessee Titans, take the best hole, take the
best football player.

Speaker 4 (01:12:28):
Yeah, best player available, And I got news for you.
A quarterback is not the best player in this draft.
Cleveland has a number two pick. They're faced with their face.
What if?

Speaker 13 (01:12:37):
What if?

Speaker 4 (01:12:38):
You mean tell me Sam Donald can't start for them?
Right now? What if Tennessee takes uh Hunter? If you're Cleveland,
you take Shor Sanders? Would they Okay? If they do?
Then what? Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
Yeah, because we didn't even hit on yesterday late Friday
newsdumb Deshaun Watson retore his achilles that he had surgery
repaired like three months ago.

Speaker 4 (01:12:57):
So right, he I never play a game, to be
honest with you, He's never gonna be the same guy.
Oh no, never. And then you got Shu Sanders.

Speaker 5 (01:13:04):
He said, Okay, even though a quarterback I don't think
is the is there's ten guys in this draft that
are better than the first quarterback as far as but
it's quarterback and it's in need. So both Warden and
uh Shodar Sanders are going to go in the first
ten picks, I'd imagine because of Meed. But if this
was a talent, if everybody had a quarterback, you wouldn't

(01:13:28):
be staying in the line for Coult. I think Shoud
has a chance to be a really good player. I
think there's a couple other guy. I think Jackson Dart
in a later round could be a good player. I
think there's some good ones. I don't think it's a
great quarterback class by any stretch. And I with the
first pick Hunter to me, he and there's a couple
of the best player in football.

Speaker 4 (01:13:45):
So depending on what you want.

Speaker 5 (01:13:46):
But teams that need quarterbacks are going to draft him
a little higher than they probably would because they.

Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
Need a quarterback.

Speaker 5 (01:13:51):
Right Atlanta probably didn't need one we thought going in, Well,
Pennix now has got a great feature. They took a
mate when everybody thought no way, Atlanta's taken a quarterback
after paying Cousins all this money. Yeah, well now they
got him. And Cousins is going to be playing somewhere else.
So if you're tennessee, why not go get Cousins and
draft Hunter. Cousins his first year is going to be
his Cousins will be better than Shooter Sanders his rookie year.

Speaker 4 (01:14:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:14:14):
But so you no, no matter how you look at it,
I don't think there's not an Andrew Luck at the top.
You'd clear cut number one pick, but I think Sanders
and more than a couple others can be good. But
I think there's better players. So yeah, it's it's going
to be interesting to see what teams do. But Darnold
and Cousins both are going to give you some, Oh,
I get some starting experience to hold me over maybe

(01:14:35):
for a younger quarterback, or at least for a year
or two until I can get by with some of this,
because both are going to more than likely be starting
somewhere next year.

Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
Yeah, the question is where us you look at this
draft order.

Speaker 3 (01:14:45):
Titans probably need a quarterback, they do one, Giants need one,
Raiders need one. Who knows what the hell Aaron Rodgers
is going to do with the New York Jets, so
they probably need one.

Speaker 5 (01:14:56):
Hence why two or three of those two? Well all
of them you did two or three are going to
take them? Yeah, Airs don't need one.

Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
Forty nine Ers, Cowboys have Dak Miami, Indianapolis. I'm assuming
they're going to continue to ride with Anthony Richardson, so
take them off the books. I mean, yeah, once you
finally get down to these next the quarterbacks are already there.
So the teams that are in quarterback need are Titans, Browns, Giants, Raiders,
and jess As is always at the top.

Speaker 5 (01:15:19):
And these quarterbacks should probably be picked more in the
teams in that range, but they're going to be picked
much higher than that, and they may end up being
spectacular as rookies like Jaydon Andels who knows, but they're
going to be picked higher than that because just the
flat ass need for it, because you're just picking best
player the corner and receiver in Colorado. I don't know

(01:15:42):
how you pass that up. He's the number one pick
in my mind. But when you need a quarterback, when
quarterback trump's everything, when you need to change your franchise, right,
especially if you're trying to make a splash, as in
you know, as a new GM or a new head
coach and you're trying to make things happen, and you
know they'll they'll be a handful of two or three
of four of them drafted in the first round. Quite frankly,

(01:16:04):
normally maybe three of them. This is a draft that
you do. You wouldn't be there, wouldn't be a top
ten pick if it was a great quarterback. If if
the guys at the top didn't need a quarterback, you know,
for instance, like you mentioned Richardson, Colt's got some work
to do, but they're not gonna bail on him just yet,
right Caroline is not going to bail on Bryce Young
right now. So but the need is going to get
a quarterback drafted higher than he probably should in this draft.

Speaker 4 (01:16:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
I think just talking about those teams in the top ten,
they all can make a case of draft quarterback, but
the quarterback classes and.

Speaker 4 (01:16:33):
You're taking taking a bigger risk with the quarterback this year.

Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
Your star seven seven ninety is the number to join
the Scots to the phone lines. Uh talking Texans rockets
one again and of course we got to discuss how
the Texans are gonna stop Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 8 (01:16:49):
Next.

Speaker 5 (01:16:52):
Hey, surt of Pro Painters sorta with a c sirtup
Pro Painters surtapro dot com for your free estimate, each
and every curt of Pro business individually owned and operated, yep,
and you go to sertpro dot com to get that

the Houston Astros, which is a good thing and that's
coming right around the corner. But they're the official painting
partner of my house too, and they can be for

(01:17:12):
years or your business interior exterior. Listen, it's expensive to
own a home or a business, isn't it. And it's
expensive to do work. And I know di I wires.
We like to do it ourselves. But if you want
it done right and with integrity, with a ninja like
in out safety protocols, and it looks fantastic. I was
a customer first before I became part of this family,

(01:17:33):
and I could tell you that I'm so proud I
was because it was easy for them to convince me
with the work they did and the customer service they
applied and how efficient they were.

Speaker 4 (01:17:41):
There is no better.

Speaker 5 (01:17:42):
And they'll even help you pick out the paints that
if you're like, well, I don't know, does that paint
pop when you put it on with the furniture however
you want it.

Speaker 4 (01:17:49):
That's who they are.

Speaker 5 (01:17:51):
That is exactly who they are, and they treat you
like family and you will be grateful they came into
your home or business interier x tear and took care
of it. They've done both at my house and I
couldn't be more grateful and local, timely and uh they care,
and they'll treat your house like it's their own, right.
Not no, no, they're not gonna go into your bathroom
and take your you know, brush their teeth, but they're
gonna treat like it's their own. What's the way it

(01:18:12):
makes it look? It makes you feel you deserve it,
so do they. It's sort of pro painters, sort of
with the sea sirtopro dot com for your free estimate,
sort of pro painters.

Speaker 4 (01:18:20):
That's painting Happy.

Speaker 1 (01:18:23):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show, Salsbury.

Speaker 4 (01:18:27):

Speaker 11 (01:18:33):
Good morning, Brian Brandon. I am watch through the quarters yesterday?

Speaker 3 (01:18:40):
How many of the buckets?

Speaker 11 (01:18:44):
That's that's why I did?

Speaker 4 (01:18:45):
How many did you watch? A few quarters? Okay?

Speaker 1 (01:18:50):
You know they won, right I I I heard my
mom told me there you go.

Speaker 8 (01:18:58):
Yep.

Speaker 11 (01:19:00):
And I watched the the Chargers and the.

Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
The football game last night's football game. Yes, you mean
the Rams and the Vikings. Yeah, yeah, Texans beat the
Chargers on Saturday. Buddy, all right, yeah, so you watched
that game last night. Man, So you watched Rockets and
you watch the football game. Let's go brandow you like them? Apple, Sean?
He watched both games.

Speaker 4 (01:19:27):
The man who's committed to excellence. I like it.

Speaker 11 (01:19:32):
By way, the.

Speaker 4 (01:19:35):
Texans mm hm.

Speaker 3 (01:19:40):
Sacked sack Mahomes. That's the key, Brandon. We appreciate the call, buddy.
We'll talk to you tomorrow. A right, all right, thanks Brandon,
let's talk to you. That'd be a good thing.

Speaker 8 (01:19:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:19:50):
Having Mahomes play from his backside. Yeah, he basically punked
your ass, Sean.

Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
Yeah, how about how about it instead of watching this
one game I watched too, because you were doubting his watching.

Speaker 4 (01:20:01):
Bet on him. Now, I don't know, man, bet on,
and you owe me forty now from the tab, dog
Man put it on the tab. Good morning Gary, Hey,
good morning guys.

Speaker 8 (01:20:12):
Hey.

Speaker 13 (01:20:12):
I think that guy Brandon might be going under an
alias Thereah, he sounds like Gilbert on one of.

Speaker 4 (01:20:17):
The other stations.

Speaker 15 (01:20:18):
Anyway.

Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
Uh, what's the spread for the Texans game?

Speaker 8 (01:20:22):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:20:23):
Eight some places, seven and a half others.

Speaker 13 (01:20:26):
Yeah, I figured it would be creeping up towards ten.

Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
Uh.

Speaker 13 (01:20:29):
We were going out to my daughters to watch the
game Saturday, and my wife asked me if you had
one thousand dollars to put on this game, the Texans
Chargers game.

Speaker 4 (01:20:36):
Who would you bet on?

Speaker 13 (01:20:37):
I said, well, I'd put the money on the charger.

Speaker 4 (01:20:41):
Of course, my heart's with the Texans.

Speaker 13 (01:20:43):
Agreed, and uh, then today she asked me five five
thousand dollars, what would you do? I said, oh, that's
a no brainer, have to go to Kansas City, even
though my heart's against.

Speaker 4 (01:20:52):
My bet against myself.

Speaker 13 (01:20:53):
So but uh, anyway, Uh, Sean, I was calling basically
to tell you that I've got your cup, got your here, man.
I was telling my wife about your situation, that the
mafia is after you because you because you were you
were talking against the Texans.

Speaker 4 (01:21:08):
No, not talking against the Texans a matter of fact,
speaking very highly of the Texans, but picked against them.

Speaker 8 (01:21:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:21:13):
But yeah, yeah yeah, I Uh Polly Walnuts showed up
at my door this morning.

Speaker 13 (01:21:19):
Yeah yeah, so anyway, so so so anyway, she she's
we talked and uh.

Speaker 6 (01:21:25):
And uh, we've come in to agreement.

Speaker 13 (01:21:28):
We're gonna we're gonna let you come out and hat
at our crib for the next two weeks. It's if, yeah,
if if the Texans losing and you don't talk good
about it, just as.

Speaker 5 (01:21:37):
Long as you got you and your wife, don't tell
me to grab a shovel. Grab a shovel, and don't
tell anybody where you're going, because you're gonna end up
burying me like a casino. Yeah for picking against the Texans. Yeah,
if it's a place that I can be safe and
not known, and we'll you know, to tuck back like
the bat cave I'm in. Gary, Thank your wife, Appreciate
you guarding against it and protecting me.

Speaker 4 (01:21:56):
Man, all right, but you'all take care brother, Gary.

Speaker 5 (01:21:59):
Thanks, I'm going to now it would protect you when
I show up a Gary slice. Gary's gonna be like, show,
what the hell are you doing here? Well, Polly Walnuts
and Tommy Tom Tommy two fingers would leave me alone
because I actually picked the points. I picked the Chargers
to win the game last week, and I'm grateful they didn't.
I'm not on their payroll anymore either. But uh, if

(01:22:20):
you thought the MAFI was after me last week, wait
till Friday.

Speaker 4 (01:22:23):
Wait till I make my pick this week. Now, if
we're going yeah, are we going spread or just straight up?
We're gonna straight up, just straight up? And then Gary
hit it perfectly.

Speaker 5 (01:22:32):
It's all fun and games until somebody puts the If
you had five grand who would you write it on?

Speaker 4 (01:22:37):
So I hope the.

Speaker 5 (01:22:38):
Texans go out and hey, listen, put up what you
put up last week and and all gladly stand up
and say back to back games like that on the
road against the best team in the league.

Speaker 4 (01:22:49):
Got you come on them all in? Yeah, just be
a homer dude. Yeah, how much credibility do you have
when all you do is pick because you live here? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:22:58):
No, if I thought they were better too, I would
pick them. I think they're more challenged all around. Work
for Houston, Okay, you work for the city.

Speaker 4 (01:23:05):
No, I actually don't.

Speaker 5 (01:23:06):
I can't remember the last time Lena Hudogg oh paid
me or whoever loss is in the city. Yeah, I
just had to get your goat, But I can't remember
the last I work I worked for iHeart, I think so,
and for us and fans. Yeah, I get that part,
and I know that it was tongue in cheek for some,
but oh for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:23:24):
The truth is.

Speaker 5 (01:23:27):
Picking against somebody doesn't mean you hate them. You can
just like Gary, it's called just looking. And then every
now and again, when you do it and you pick
it there you're wrong and it's okay.

Speaker 4 (01:23:38):
It's okay.

Speaker 3 (01:23:39):
Right, No big deal. Yeah, man, no big deal. So
Polly Walnuts came to your doorstep. I wonder if he's
gonna be making a visit to Matt Thomas, because Matt
Thomas also uh hates the city of Houston.

Speaker 5 (01:23:48):
According to something I never knew, you were supposed to
you had to pick. If that was the case, then
we should have the Astros at Buck sixty two and none.

Speaker 4 (01:23:55):
Right, yeah, yeah, it's not gonna happen. No, not inclosed. Listen.

Speaker 8 (01:24:00):
I love it.

Speaker 5 (01:24:02):
I'm a Trojan, a lifelong Raider fan and a Trojan.
And guess what, I didn't pick them much this year. No,
you sure didn't, and I won't apologize, so we'll see.

Speaker 4 (01:24:11):
But I actually it's weird.

Speaker 5 (01:24:13):
I'm not sure they're going to beat Kansas City, but
after what I saw offensively, and knowing who they are defensively,
which we've pointed out regularly, I feel better about their
competitive nature this week now, once it got rolling, we
felt it. But nobody thought that ass kicking was happened
this week. Either way, nobody thought that was happening, And
if you did, you're a liar. Of course you are.
Except for John John's only one Josh for.

Speaker 4 (01:24:35):
On the show, and yeah, give him quick. Did he
bet it? No, I'm kidding you, but he did. He
said double digit and I like it.

Speaker 5 (01:24:42):
But the truth of the matter is you can just
break it down and if they go out and give
give the same kind of second half, but for four
quarters that they gave to Chargers, the Kansas City Chiefs
are going to be in for a hell of a game.

Speaker 4 (01:24:55):
Yeah, they are going to know they've been in one.
Let's talk about a fast start for the Texans. They
eat it. Let's get into the eight o'clock hour next
to Sports Talk seven to.

Speaker 1 (01:25:03):

Speaker 4 (01:26:18):
Good morning. Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 15 (01:26:20):
Fellers, Brian don look here, I'm gonna tell it straight up. Hey,
this is this is my Bowl prediction. The Texas is
gonna beat KC in k C and why they got
Demico Rice last week went into a defensive mode in
the second half and shut them balls down. Now he

(01:26:43):
got he got all pro on the line with will Lianilson,
got all pro in the backtreet, I mean on the
defensive back.

Speaker 1 (01:26:53):
Kansas City.

Speaker 4 (01:26:54):
I mean, uh, that.

Speaker 15 (01:26:55):
Defense used to gonna shut them down. They gonna win
it by the defense. US just gonna shut them down
on the defense at the end, uh CJ He gonna
get off, believe me, because the defensive back to Kansas
City just don't cover as good as everybody think that
the one the ones go win and that the one
scores they've been winning all year, that ain't gonna happen.

(01:27:15):
So I predict twenty seven twenty four. I predict Houston
to go up there take care of business in Kansas City.
Is gonna be the biggest upset of the year. And
uh what y'all think about that?

Speaker 4 (01:27:25):
It'll hand up, thank you, John, biggest upset. Yeah, I'm
with them. I think that I think the Texans really
can beat the Chiefs this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
I think they can too, but it's gonna take a lot.
It's gonna take a damn near perfect game. Cannon will
are different exactly. I understand John's Listen, that sounds about
right around the score area if I was paying, I
mean in that now, I and the hell the defenses
may even not even give that much up. But both
offenses are one play away from scoring you know, boom
boom boom and hitting quick and putting up twenty one

(01:27:56):
points with three possessions by you know, the two teams.

Speaker 5 (01:27:59):
So I don't doubt that. I do believe it's a
one score game. I don't think that this is a blowout.
I don't think that there's any way that the Texans
roll into Kansasity and blow them out. But I do think,
and they've been in a lot of one score games
and the Chiefs have been able to win most of those,
and the Texans have not. Right, I mean, I'm talking
about against good teams, but the Texans have played well
against against high priced monster quarterbacks this year. They've found

(01:28:24):
ways to devise plans to prevent those guys from taking over,
whether it's Allen or Golf Herbert. And now they get
to face Mahomes and see if they can do it again.

Speaker 4 (01:28:32):
But I don't have it. I don't think John's far
off from his thought process. But you still have to come.

Speaker 5 (01:28:40):
There's still gotta be a little trepidation of wondering if
the offense is going to go in there against Spagnolo
and do what they did last week.

Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
So when we started the show this morning at six ESPN,
BET had Kansas City as a seven and a half
point favorite. I just double checked again. It's gone up
half a point to eight. And now it seems like
all the sportsbooks are on the same page with eight.
That was within two hours.

Speaker 5 (01:29:03):
Yeah, So keep an eye on that line and which
way it moves as you get closer to Saturday. Over
under is forty one and a half. That's twenty one
to seventeen is forty one points?

Speaker 11 (01:29:15):
Right?

Speaker 4 (01:29:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 15 (01:29:17):
Is that no?

Speaker 5 (01:29:18):
Twenty one seventeen thirty eight points? That thirty eight points?
That that that may be right too. Yeah, the twenty
four to twenty one, twenty seven twenty four would you
say it was forty one and a half forty one
and a half twenty one to twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:29:32):
Field goals?

Speaker 8 (01:29:33):
You know?

Speaker 4 (01:29:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
Bet MGM has Texans, uh Texas and Chiefs have forty
two for over under.

Speaker 4 (01:29:40):
With the Chiefs being an eight point favorite.

Speaker 5 (01:29:42):
That looks like that's a big favorite for for like
a two and a half, two touchdowns and two field
goal type game. I mean it is, I but I
don't think John's far off. But keep an eye on
that line.

Speaker 4 (01:29:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:29:55):
So you know, like a twenty seven to twenty one
you get thirty eight points, that feels like or that's
four eight points, that feels like more of the score.
I believe they can score on the Chiefs defense, but
I'd like to come out and set that tone early. Right,
Yet both defenses are capable of keeping this under twenty, meaning,
you know, could you see a twenty seventeen win. I
could from one of the teams.

Speaker 4 (01:30:16):
I could.

Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
I could see twenty one thirteen. I just say twenty
one seventeen. You could see that, no doubt. Twenty four
to twenty one, and the weather obviously, yeah, yeah, right now,
forty five would you say twenty four twenty one? That's
forty five right in that between this. I don't think
you're going to see a thirty eight to thirty five game. No,
both defenses are too good and the weather inclement, it'll

(01:30:39):
just have you know, when it's cold, it'll have an effect.
But yeah, high low twenties, high twenties, I'll be you'd
be hard pressed to get into the thirties. Yeah, first
team to thirty winning this game, if you can even
get close. Hell, first team to twenty four may very
well be the winner.

Speaker 5 (01:30:54):
But that's not that's not a At the beginning of
the year, if I said Texans Chiefs, you know, you
just said give me the old before the season started.
Right now, the defenses are the strength of both teams.

Speaker 3 (01:31:04):
Yeah, I don't see it being Hell, I don't even
see it being like a twenty seven to twenty four game.
I would think twenty four to twenty one, twenty four
to seventeen.

Speaker 5 (01:31:12):
Something in therese I agree, But I mean, but John,
that three point difference seems right to me, and you
can just you just can't. Kansas City's defense is really
good at giving their team the short field.

Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
So one thing that comes to mind when we talk
about these points spreads, and obviously if it's a twenty
four to seventeen game, that means that there's a couple
of field goals we've already discussed so far today and
we'll continue to discuss it all week.

Speaker 4 (01:31:39):
Is about the.

Speaker 3 (01:31:40):
Screen game, catch yards after catch for this Chiefs offense.
So then Sean talked to me about like a bend
but don't break type mentality, good red zone defense for
the Texans, force field goals for the Chiefs, because I've.

Speaker 4 (01:31:57):
Already I talked about it. They're they're run deep. They
excuse me.

Speaker 3 (01:32:00):
The run offense for the Chiefs sixteenth in the league,
pass offense fourteenth in the league.

Speaker 4 (01:32:05):
Their offense is okay.

Speaker 3 (01:32:06):
I know they have Patrick Holmes, I know they got weapons,
but if their run game isn't as good as some
would make out to be, that shows me, like we've
already discussed that they throw quick screens, quick slants, and
these playmakers just take off break tackles.

Speaker 4 (01:32:21):
That's difficult to do in the red zone.

Speaker 3 (01:32:23):
Oh of course, Ben, don't break type mentality in the
zone when you get into the red zone is what
I mean.

Speaker 5 (01:32:27):
Yeah, in the red zone automatically as a defense, you're
thinking that this is not big time vert Now think
you can throw verticals, but this is more protect the football, Ben,
But don't break offense too. Meaning when I say that,
meaning if the shots there, you take it, but you're
okay checking it down in the red zone for four
yards three yards, four yards for a first down. Yeah,

(01:32:49):
and you're probably gonna have to because those are hard
points to come by. And that's why games like this
and those fields, a snap hook field goal thirty yards
may it being the difference in the game. So yes,
keeping them out of the end zone. I'm curious what
both defenses are going to do on the man's zone thing,
because if you're gonna play man, you better get there.

(01:33:10):
You better get to the you better get to the
pass rusher. Because both of these quarterbacks or the quarterback,
because both these quarterbacks are capable of destroying you in
that coverage. Now it'll come down in the zone part
of it. If it's the bend but don't break defense
style that they're going to, whether it's red zone or
in the middle of the field or backed up, is
that you better catch and tackle in space. That's the

(01:33:31):
Chiefs Chiefs are counting on.

Speaker 4 (01:33:33):
You're not going to do that.

Speaker 5 (01:33:34):
Chiefs are a patient team which quarterback decides to take
a shot when it's not there, not when it is there,
and makes the wrong decision on a turnover where you
throw a ball that there's a safety sit in the
middle of the field. What Jordan Love made If it
was it Jordan Love who made the made a throw
over the weekend, we threw it guys sitting right in
the whole through right to him. But that's playoff football.

(01:33:55):
Sometimes you just don't see the guy. But yes, the bend,
but break bend but break mentality of the red zone
is a very good way to go about it, as
long as you're tackling well on these shallow crossers in
screen game, because if you can get out with the
field goal, that's a win. Yeah for a defense, especially
in this game. Yeah, yeah, with the way that this
offense is uh for Kansas City. Seven one three, two
one two five seven ninety is the number to join.

(01:34:17):
Will continue to take your cause as we talk about
what the Texans need to do to upset Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (01:34:22):
That is next on Sports Talk seven ninety. But before
we get to that Men's TA Clinic MEN'ST Clinic dot Com.

And I sat down with Sean and he answered everything
thorough made me feel comfortable.

Speaker 4 (01:35:00):
I got my blood drawn.

Speaker 3 (01:35:02):
It took just ten to fifteen minutes to get the
results back, and I had low testosterone.

Speaker 4 (01:35:07):
So what did we do?

Speaker 3 (01:35:07):
We sat down, we mapped out a plan. I started
that plan that day and within two weeks the brain
fog was gone. I started to feel better and better.

Sports Talk seven nine. You're home with the Stros when
saw Dani thieves too all you did? Is it good? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (01:36:20):
Like?

Speaker 4 (01:36:20):
Well you hesitating? Come on, no, come on?

Speaker 1 (01:36:22):
Is it really good?

Speaker 16 (01:36:23):
Is it good?

Speaker 4 (01:36:23):
Is it not as good as the first two and
a half hours, Sorr? I think you're good.

Speaker 5 (01:36:27):
This one's a little when I say, slower pace, not
like the there's much action early, but it's good.

Speaker 4 (01:36:33):
Storyline good. Oh yeah, okay, did you watch Landman yet?

Speaker 6 (01:36:37):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:36:37):
There was another game last night? That game? Yeah, well,
stud Can I tell you who makes an appearance?

Speaker 13 (01:36:44):
No?

Speaker 5 (01:36:44):
I don't want to come on, no, come on, no, dude,
you're not a kid at Christmas. Got to open up
a gift. Okay, I'll tell you. Once we're done, you
can tell me what you wanted.

Speaker 4 (01:36:51):
To tell me.

Speaker 3 (01:36:52):
No, I'll tell It's just that somebody makes it makes
an appearance. Andy Garcia.

Speaker 5 (01:36:57):
Oh okay, yeah, I like it. What I like Andy Garcia?
I need more energy when it comes Andy Garcia. He's
got to see what his role and Andy Garcia is
a legend. Andy Garcia underrated. Actually yeah, yeah, so I'm
I'm big on on on Garcia two and a half hours.

Speaker 4 (01:37:15):
Huh yeah, it's not bad, No, but it was good.
I like any that. That's a great storyline, and there
will be another one. I'll just really f and go.

Speaker 3 (01:37:24):
Yeah, a real quick some news out of college football.
Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond leaving the Scoorel to enter
the NFL Draft yesterday. Matthew Golden, another wide receiver for Texas,
is going to enter the NFL Draft.

Speaker 4 (01:37:36):
Their bond is golden, dude, it really is. As they
go into the NFL, their bond is good. So two
uh two star wide receivers for Texas leaving. There'll be
more with that.

Speaker 3 (01:37:50):
I'm sure there'll be plenty more that I'll want to
come play for. Steve Starkesian with Arch Manning at the
helm at the quarterback position, well, what about the running
back situation is going to be because they lost three
of them before the season even started.

Speaker 5 (01:38:03):
They'll be again a great competition, Yeah, great competition in
the backfield.

Speaker 4 (01:38:08):
Seven one, three five, seven nineties the number to join biscuit.
What's happening. Was that a request by you?

Speaker 8 (01:38:14):
My latest, My greatest is the race shun. I love them, Malima,
I ain't I no no fight. I'm gonna love them man,
Teddy p Baby.

Speaker 16 (01:38:24):
Hey, Hey, thing about Texas, Sean, I've seen with the
recruiting class, they got three of the top twenty receivers
come to UT next year, so some of them guys
might be getting out of it.

Speaker 8 (01:38:35):
Yeah, they got some studs coming in, Okay.

Speaker 5 (01:38:38):
A portal or two guy that wants more playing time,
and yeah, that that could happen as well. But yeah,
the starting they know what they're they're getting. They're getting
top notch recruits now and they're developing.

Speaker 4 (01:38:48):
They got number one recruiter class in the nation.

Speaker 8 (01:38:50):
Man, So Texas ain't in no problem.

Speaker 16 (01:38:53):
Heyma, let me let me clear some up Sean real
quick for yesterday. And I think I know you know
where I was going with it, shine out, But I think, yeah,
but when I when I'm talking about the Dak Prescott
thing or whatever and Lamar Jackson or whatever, it seems
that when when they talking about Dak and Lamar, they

(01:39:13):
just strictly talking about.

Speaker 4 (01:39:16):
Wins and losses.

Speaker 16 (01:39:18):
They're not going into the nuances of why they lost
and what made him play bad or whatever. And then
when you come to some of the other guys, they
go into the nuances of it. And because, for example,
Lim you said, well, justin Herbert, he it's only his
second time, but they didn't they didn't say that when
Dak lost his first two games. They were just said,
Dak Prescott didn't play good enough.

Speaker 8 (01:39:38):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 16 (01:39:39):
So if we're gonna be consistent, let's be consistent. I
from the point of view that we should do the
nuances and look into why things happen and what.

Speaker 8 (01:39:49):
You know, maybe it was because some of the play
call him. Maybe it was because of the you know, uh,
you know, he wasn't ready.

Speaker 16 (01:39:55):
You know, Dak lost his first game, probably the best
team he had, but he was a rookie, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:39:59):
What I mean.

Speaker 16 (01:40:00):
So it's always you know, little it's not just black
and white. That's my whole point. But if we're gonna
make it black and white, then it got to be
black and white for everybody.

Speaker 8 (01:40:10):
That's That was my where I was getting to it.
I don't know about Griffin.

Speaker 16 (01:40:14):
You you get this tricky when you try to get
the motivation of what people say, because you know, only
they know why they said what they said. So I
just wanted to clear that up. And I think, like
you say, Sean, you you you knew where I was
coming from on it. But in case somebody else miss
you know, may not have caught it, I just want
to stay that And let me say this, Sean, the
Rockets last night and that was Dalen Green, I'm loving it.

(01:40:39):
Man Wade went back at job Morant, I'm loving it.
And last thing for a bot, Sean, And this is
the question I wanted to ask, Sean you and this
is what I don't know the answer to, but I
think this will tell us who's gonna win the game
between the Texas and the Chiefs, which team benefited the
most from already playing each other. I kind of tend

(01:40:59):
to want us say it's gonna be the Chiefs and
guess because guess what what you did before won't work
this time, and you got to come up with something different.
And when it's something like that, I kind of lean
to Andy Reid that he's gonna come up with something
that the Texans may not have seen or something that
they may not be expecting.

Speaker 5 (01:41:17):
Right history says that about Andy's his ability to give
you something different. Yeah, that there's an advantage there, there's
no doubt.

Speaker 16 (01:41:25):
So that's to me, you know, well, we'll will the
Texans be able to capitalize on the fact of seeing
the Chiefs before, Will the Chiefs be able to capitalize
on maybe recognizing how to deal with Hunter and will
Anderson better now that they don't play them?

Speaker 8 (01:41:44):
You know?

Speaker 16 (01:41:44):
So you know, because that's the way the advantage is.
If they can muck it up with Anderson and and Hunter,
now you got something. But if they hold them guys off,
it's gonna.

Speaker 8 (01:41:54):
Be a problem.

Speaker 5 (01:41:54):
Yeah, you always lean towards a guy who's seen it
more than the other team on adjustments, and that's Andy Reid,
who's as good of adjuster as we have in the league.
Great stuff, Biscuit, and appreciate the phone call, and I
know he's pumped about. Remember at this time last year
or a little later, do not trade any of these guys,
and do not trade Jalen Green. No, he kept saying it,
and so when the talk around the league was maybe

(01:42:16):
you're gonna move on from him, and then he went
Haywire and got better and improved and Biscuits been riding
that pony since really since the beginning of even.

Speaker 4 (01:42:26):
Before they turn it around. He said, this is a
young team.

Speaker 5 (01:42:29):
He got to let Udoka do his thing, and they
have and it's well, the smartest decision they've made in
the last couple of years, last two years, aside from
hiring the head coach, is not moving a bunch of
bodies because they were impatient.

Speaker 4 (01:42:44):
Young guys need a little minute trusting the process. They
need a minute, that's right.

Speaker 5 (01:42:47):
The journey is different and we all think in destination,
but men, it doesn't matter what you do. You ain't
get into a destination unless there's a little patience and
some growing pains, especially with young players.

Speaker 3 (01:42:55):
Right hey, real quick. He mentioned that recruiting class for
the University of Texas. They got the number one athlete
coming there, Jonah Williams. They got the number three athlete,
Michael Terry. They have let's just scroll down. I'm just
talking all offense here. They got the number four tight end,
Nick Townsend, who played at Decaney High School right down
the road. And they got the number three receiver, the
number four receiver, and the number seventeen receiver coming in.

Speaker 4 (01:43:19):
I think they all love themselves some Steve Sarkis, they've
got eighteen of the eight ESPN three hundred commits.

Speaker 3 (01:43:26):
They've got eighteen four stars, five three stars, and two
five stars as of right now.

Speaker 4 (01:43:33):
Impress. It's just coming out of high school impressed, not
even with the transfer portal.

Speaker 5 (01:43:36):
Yeah, I wonder who will leave from Texas. It inevitably
happens on damn near everythingsta right, wonder who leaves? They're
so close one more step and I know it's not
good enough, that's not a moral victory. But they've been
really consistent the last two years and getting to the
opportunity and just unfortunately ran Ohio State's not bad. They're okay. Yeah,
they'll do in a pinch. Yeah, they're all right, pretty good.

Speaker 8 (01:43:55):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:43:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:43:56):
They play on a Monday, that national championship. We'll dig
into that game later this week as well. Let's get
back to talking Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs. The
defense is in for a big task in trying to
pressure Patrick Mahomes. Also, let's talk about a fast start
for the Texans.

Bregman update, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (01:46:15):
Do you wanna? Do you want to get birds chirping?
He's he's he's uh uh, he's still a free agent.
There's your Alex bragman uptake. Hmmm, what in the hell
is going on? I don't know, man, it's uh. Spring
training starts in a month, literally a month. I mean,

(01:46:38):
he literally can't be coming back here, can't he. No,
I don't think that ship sailed right.

Speaker 3 (01:46:43):
I'm just I'm telling you, I'm just I just can't
wait to see him sign with another team for an
AAV of twenty six million a year, and.

Speaker 5 (01:46:51):
Then everybody's gonna be pissed off. They didn't take exactly,
am I right? Yes, that's where we're headed.

Speaker 3 (01:46:58):
Even if let's just say he does twe seven million
a year, that's a million dollars a year difference.

Speaker 4 (01:47:05):
This man base is gonna be pissed. Does he want
to be here?

Speaker 12 (01:47:09):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:47:09):
I don't think so.

Speaker 5 (01:47:10):
And it was semi rhetorical. It feels like, if that's
the case, you don't want to be right right unless
you know that something's coming down the pike that's gonna
blow them all away.

Speaker 3 (01:47:19):
Why is it coming down the pike? I agree, if
it's a bigger money contract, wouldn't you.

Speaker 4 (01:47:24):
Aren't you at the point, wouldn't you want to be
like know now where you're headed. I would have wanted
to know in December.

Speaker 5 (01:47:30):
I mean, have they really priced himself this far out
of it to where he's scrambling around trying to find
a suitor.

Speaker 4 (01:47:37):
Seems that way, doesn't it? Man?

Speaker 5 (01:47:44):
Amazing, Yeah, it's amazing. That's why leverage is all about
numbers you gotta have. If you you got leverage and
you got two or more, it's not a true negotiation,
or you ain't have no leverage. When it's just you
and the the one one that wants you, it's hard.
And if the one that wants you is not getting
anywhere near the offer, or there may be more. I'm

(01:48:06):
sure there's plenty more that wanted at the right price,
but it's hard to that's to me, it feels like
you lose leverage every day. No, I think as feel
like you lose more leverage people's rosters, and you know
what happens to somebody that kind of was interested in
trades or moves on a third basement.

Speaker 4 (01:48:25):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:48:26):
I mean, I know, we're I'm so into the Texans
right now you almost forget that Bregman still has not signed.
Where it's going to be. I wouldn't it be if
it was some like, I don't know, he signs with
them like the Marlins. Could you imagine, I mean, just
how likeere got two hundred and ten thousand will come

(01:48:47):
to Miami. It would just be weird, just like one
of one of those I don't want to say. Miami's nondescript.
Their baseball team kind of is, right, wouldn't it be weird?
Or ends up like ladies and gentlemen, your new third
basin for the Colorado Rock he's Alex Bregman.

Speaker 4 (01:49:01):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (01:49:02):
Two and twenty million dollars. Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh good,
go get your bag. I don't hate him for it.

Speaker 4 (01:49:06):
Yeah, you ain't gonna see the playoffs anytime. But it's
just but you'll hit that fields like hitting in Yellowstone Park. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:49:13):
So I don't know, man, I just I'm so into
these Texas down Saint Man. There's only four left right
in the AFC. And then he's like, oh that's oh yeah,
we're starting about three weeks yeah and oh yeah spring
trains right, and he doesn't have a he's not getting
paid by anybody right now.

Speaker 4 (01:49:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:49:31):
So here's here's my prediction. I made the made the
prediction months ago. That he would end up with the
Boston Red Sox. I'm sticking that he's gonna go to Boston.
But after the comments that Rafaeld Devers has made about
him not wanting or reportedly not wanting to move from
the third base position, Bregman will go to the Red Sox.

(01:49:51):
He will still sign with the Red Sox, and he
will be their second baseman. Because if you remember, early
in free agency, there was a report out that Scott
Boris was saying that Bregman has no uh issue with
moving to second base. So I think he goes to
Boston and plays second base. We'll see how it had,
how it all shakes.

Speaker 4 (01:50:09):
I've said before, love to have him stay here, but
if he's going anywhere, yeah, there you go. Man him
Endeavor's in the same line. I'm okay with that, and
I'm and you know what for him.

Speaker 5 (01:50:20):
While he's a great third baseman, I think he'd probably
be a Gold Glove winning second baseman too.

Speaker 4 (01:50:24):
Oh, no doubt. Actually it's funny.

Speaker 3 (01:50:26):
Roy Oswald just just tweeted out this interest in Bregman
doesn't surprise me. Wishing him all the best no matter
where he ends up. Where do you guys, think he'll go.

Speaker 4 (01:50:35):
So we'll see.

Speaker 3 (01:50:36):
Uh, we'll see because uh, you know, spring training right
around the corner, all right. I teased it, uh last
segment and a couple of times earlier in the show,
sean a fast start for the Texans.

Speaker 4 (01:50:48):
How can they get it done against the Chiefs? Well,
Mike on so trying not to breathe into it with Mike, what.

Speaker 8 (01:50:55):
Do you call it?

Speaker 4 (01:50:56):
Fi flugm here's grinding through this on the grinder.

Speaker 5 (01:51:00):
Yeah, I probably I sound probably a little worse than
I am. Yeah, it's you know, heading into January, you've
got it out there. You're just cold out and you
compete now, so it's only going to get colder.

Speaker 13 (01:51:11):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:51:11):
So I how are they going to do it? Yeah?
How can they do it? Well, you just can't do
it for one quarter. This team's too good.

Speaker 5 (01:51:19):
You're facing a team that has more obviously post games
anybody in the tournament. There's nobody that's been in as
many games or playoffs or big games as the Chiefs.
Two is that's a great home field advantage. Three is
it as easy to overwhelm, get overwhelmed as you move on,
And this team's seen it because they don't get by

(01:51:39):
the wild gay and they haven't one outside the wild
card yet.

Speaker 4 (01:51:42):
Have they one time? No, they've never talked about the Texans. Yes,
they've never been to an a title game. There you go.
So they've never gotten past the division round. So here
we are, and with an opportunity to do it.

Speaker 5 (01:51:53):
You're you're going into Listen, you'd love to be playing
a team that kind of had the same experience you
had in it the big Camp city advantage.

Speaker 4 (01:52:00):
Now they're well rested. For some well rested is too
much rest and you're like, oh, got to get back
in the rhythm. I don't worry about the Chiefs because
I actually do think they needed the rest.

Speaker 16 (01:52:11):
Now.

Speaker 5 (01:52:12):
Remember though, it'll be three weeks since Mahomes played football.
But they do such a great job in the short
passing game, you don't have to worry about well are
they on vertical? Can they get going? And for his ankle,
that's another thing that concerns me about the Texas. He's
going to be healthy and he's going to be His
ability to extend plays even on a bum ankle was
pretty good. Yeah, and it'll be better, but Andy Reid

(01:52:33):
given him that long to get ready. It's kind of
like the old Belichick's defenses right that it was just
like they found a way to make it miserable on you.
The Texans are extremely gifted. The other guys stepped up
and made some plays at wide receiver last week. But listen,
defense doesn't need to change. I mean, you may have
to change how you play coverage and who you do

(01:52:54):
it against, but the aggressiveness and the anger they played
with that defense doesn't have to worry.

Speaker 4 (01:52:59):
I'm not worried, but I'm not now. Mahomes makes you
worry about any defense, but I'm not worried about that.
My whole thing is the Spagnolo. I'll tell you what's
gonna have to happen. You're gonna have to find a
way to be as aggressive as you were against the Chargers,
mentally aggress where you're not like saying it but not
doing it because you're it's Spagnola. We don't want to strip, sack, fumble,
and so you play it too close to the vest

(01:53:20):
and that's the slope. And I don't know how, I
don't know how do you find it and bottle it up.

Speaker 5 (01:53:24):
But the ability to come out of the locker room
and play offense be aggressive necessary when it's necessary, but
don't play not to lose. They've done that a lot,
and against good teams. It's easy to do because you
get into the trap. Man, if we just hang around,
we'll have a chance in the end. Yeah, but when
you hang around, have a chance in the end. So
it just kan't city. Yeah, you have got you have

(01:53:45):
got the and I think the defense will thump them.
They'll be they'll embarrass the Chiefs offense a couple times,
but for me, it's the offense four quarters of sustained
success where when they do you ever have any questions
that the Baltimore Ravers are gonna move the ball in
any quarter?

Speaker 4 (01:53:59):
That's what you need.

Speaker 5 (01:54:00):
You need that threat, which means you got to run it.
You got to you got to be inventive. You've got
to do a lot of different looks. You got to
change it up. For Spagnola, you got to protect the
interior of the pocket. And you also have to be
aggressive when the shots are there.

Speaker 4 (01:54:13):
You cannot be afraid to take them because it's the
Chiefs you're playing, and you want to play close and
stay in it. But that slippery slope.

Speaker 5 (01:54:20):
Of do I have that window or not And if
you have to think about that, you're late, and so
it's almost your mindset. Listen, if I'm losing, please let
me lose on the side of being aggressive and attacking,
not playing passive. That's my number one. If you're asked
for one thing, just listen. You've got smart players and
your quarterbacks a smart guy. Attack them. Matter of fact,

(01:54:41):
give the Chiefs a taste of their own medicine. You
go get them, don't let them come to you. You
go attack them and bring the game to them. Sounds cheesy,
but that's the way I'd approach it, because I can
tell you this, by being passive.

Speaker 4 (01:54:53):
They won't win.

Speaker 5 (01:54:54):
So your best football we've ever seen, since they've been
since this staff's been here, has been what attack last year?
This year sitting back and playing it were well, just
you okay on fourth and one on your first saying
you're at the twenty eight yard line. Points will be
at a premium. But if you don't like the weather,
go for it. And because I think the defense can
prevent the Chiefs from going five times eighty yards. And

(01:55:19):
the truth is for the for the Texans, that may
be what it takes the patience of five yards, four
yards fiers. So as a fan, don't get frustrated if
they're not making huge plays, but the chains keep moving
because I'm not sure sure that's a bad idea.

Speaker 3 (01:55:30):
This week you mentioned the other guys. Demiko Ryans spoke
about those quote unquote other guys and how key they
were against the Chargers and what those other guys need
to do against the Chiefs.

Speaker 4 (01:55:41):
That's next.

Speaker 1 (01:55:43):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues to.

Speaker 3 (01:55:46):
The tae here from Demiico Ryan's a head coach. He
talked about a collective effort. It's going to take everybody
against these Chiefs.

Speaker 7 (01:55:56):
Going back and watching the versus the Chargers, I can
name every everybody on our team right who stood out,
who contributed, and we're a big part of us playing
well in that game. First, I think up front challenged
our defensive line and play well. And Foley him being
back and that was the reason why we played well
in the run game. I thought he impacted the game there,

(01:56:19):
Z's making a huge play on a third and two,
physical play getting them the fourth down. Z's Henry was
consistent where he was supposed to be all day and
coverage Miles Brian stepping in playing Nickel was he helped
us with guys just with the communication, getting guys a line,
being where they have to be, and him just being

(01:56:40):
able to do his job consistently.

Speaker 4 (01:56:42):
Just a lot of guys.

Speaker 7 (01:56:43):
All across the board helped us to win this game. So,
and that's what it's what team football is about. And
that's what you need now going down the stretch. You
need everybody to contribute. And I always tell our guys
like our best players have to play their best, right
if you consider yourself our best player, and we need
your best. And that's all got everybody who's who it's

(01:57:04):
our best player, all forty eight guys who suit up,
So I need everyone's best. We need everyone's best so
we can go out and compete at the highest level.

Speaker 4 (01:57:12):
All right.

Speaker 3 (01:57:13):
So a couple of names that he mentioned are some
names that you don't here very often. Fully, Mario Edwar
didn't mention in the in the clip, but Mario Edwards
had a really good game for the Texans against the Chargers.

Speaker 4 (01:57:29):
A couple other guys then nickel coverage will be huge
in this game too.

Speaker 3 (01:57:34):
And let's see, I'm trying to yeah, uh uh Foley
Faticastu that's who he's talking about.

Speaker 4 (01:57:42):
Yeah, huge in the run game.

Speaker 3 (01:57:44):
Excuse me, so collectively, it's gonna quite that. It sounds
so cliche, but yet it is so damn true. It
is gonna take everybody, not just Danil Hunter and Will
Anderson Junior. They get a lot of the pub. So
does Derek Stingley Junior. Henry Toatoa is gonna have to
play Hank Hotel t T H z Z. He calls them,

(01:58:06):
z's in the house.

Speaker 4 (01:58:09):
Those guys, the other guys.

Speaker 5 (01:58:11):
I've always felt that other guys and stuff like this.
You know, you'll get a guy who's like, where do
those seven catches come from? Here's well, let's let's just
do some stuff here. How did how did the UH
stars on defense for the Rams play last night? Pretty
pretty good? Nine sacks got after the quarterback?

Speaker 4 (01:58:31):
We know that.

Speaker 5 (01:58:31):
And the rookie I think they're they're the only Pro
Bowl rookie on defense starting first team, Pro Bowl or
All Rookie or let's say Pro Bowl or started. It's
a defensive starter as a rookie. Wet's see the Pro
Bowl didn't didn't a rookie make the Pro Bowl for
the Rams? I don't at his position or a front seven.

(01:58:51):
I don't think there's any I'm not sure any other
rookie made the Pro Bowl. But go to Baltimore. We
we're talking about the other guy. My point here is,
did Lamar play well, Derrick Henry? Your best players had
to your best players in Demiko said have to play great.

(01:59:12):
He said, well, they got to play great, and then
the other guys have to. There can't be a major gap.
Is the point when I say the other guys doing
these things, not being the guy who's gonna leave the
team in sacks, but making sure in the run game
you're getting all the stops Totoe who's running around doing
a lot of different stuff, you know, running sideline to sideline,
batting balls down, going making tackles in space.

Speaker 4 (01:59:35):
Your stars have to.

Speaker 5 (01:59:36):
You can't win the game if Mixing and Stroud play average,
and you're not gonna win if Mahomes plays poorly and
Kelsey don't show up. I don't care what the other
guys do. They're not winning, right Lamar, Derrick Henry. You
start to look around at the teams who won. Did
Barkley play pretty well?

Speaker 4 (01:59:54):
Yeah? He ran for over almost one hundred and thirty yards.

Speaker 5 (01:59:56):
Yeah, they Stafford was efficient, Darnold didn't play well. They
got beat Baker Mayfield, Okay, they got beat Jade Daniels
play well.

Speaker 4 (02:00:05):
Yeah he played pretty well.

Speaker 5 (02:00:07):
I mean, but you know your stars have to they
actually have to elevate to another level. But there can't
be the gap between these guys and then the guys
who are the other guys like Nico gets seven catches
and nobody else gets three. You got to close that gap.
So your stars got they got to show up. That's
why they get paid the big money. And this is
the time to let everybody know why you get paid

(02:00:29):
the big money. And then the other guy who is
a backup running back, second tight end, third receiver, nickel
corner all where you've now? Oh man, that guy made
a great play on third and seven, a diving Boom
got his hand out in front, knocked the ball down
on a shallow crosser Boom and it was fourth down
and they were at the forty in purgatory and no
man's lance, so they decided to go for it. Boom

(02:00:51):
flipped the field. You get the ball to forty and
it wasn't a star. But I can tell you this,
if stars don't play well in the postseason. I don't
care who the team is.

Speaker 4 (02:00:59):
Detroit Golf goes and golf and Gibbs and and the
passing game golf and I'm aman Ross Saint Brown average
and Gibbs has forty seven yards rushing. They will lose. Yeah,
I win, right, And you could say that about anybody.

Speaker 5 (02:01:14):
Yes, but the team that will win are the team
when your big players star up and do their thing,
and then the other guys who are not considered stars,
but in that locker room are counted on. Close the
gap to where the guy, the backup and the starter
you can rotate. You know, you don't feel like you're
missing anything. You shouldn't be afraid that the third or
fourth receiver that Hutchinson can make a play this week,
he did last week. You gotta feel good about it. Yeah,

(02:01:36):
and the quarterbacks gotta trust it. So but I make
no mistake. We talk about the other guys, and I
do often. But you want to go through World Series,
You want to go through NBA Championship. You actually think
that the Nuggets can win an NBA title If Nikola
Yolkicic plays poorly in four straight games, or Giannis or
Jalen Green goes three to thirty from shooting.

Speaker 3 (02:01:55):
They're not They're not winning it. Stars have to play
like stars. Yeah, yeah, you're talking about it. In Major
League Baseball. Just look in the World Series. Aaron Judge postseason,
not very good, dropping a fly ball in center field,
Garrett Cole not covering first base. Yankees lost that game
when they were up five to nothing.

Speaker 4 (02:02:11):
Who is the MVP of the series?

Speaker 1 (02:02:12):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (02:02:13):
Who was all? It was Freddy Freeman for the Dodgers.
How many home runs? How good?

Speaker 13 (02:02:17):
Ad? He?

Speaker 4 (02:02:17):
Like? Five home and he was hampered? Yeah, hurted up.

Speaker 5 (02:02:21):
O Tanis throughout the post was ripping getting him there.
It just you have to Yeah, and I know, listen,
when you got forties eight guys, you got to deal
with special football. But you can't get by in these
because everybody's good. We're down to the four best. I mean,
I don't know if the Texans were considered, but they
earned that win and they prove that they belong. But
the Buffalo and Baltimore, if Josh Allen plays poorly, Baltimore

(02:02:44):
will boat race them.

Speaker 4 (02:02:45):
Yeah. They beat them by two touchdowns. Yeah, so in
their building.

Speaker 5 (02:02:49):
So yeah, your stars have to play well, and then
you've got to have the toe toes of the world
playing like a star I guess, is what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (02:02:55):
Yeah, yeah, the other guys have to step up and
play like stars. Yeah they really do.

Speaker 3 (02:02:59):
Yeah, let's let's get in the nine o'clock hour. Let's
take a whole a look at the entire divisional rounds
AFC and NFC. Could there be an upset brewing? We'll
discuss it next right here on Sportsbock seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (02:04:01):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean sALS Very show.

Speaker 3 (02:04:09):
Rockets beat the Grizzlies, Rams take down the Vikings. Last
night Monday Night Football that was the final wild card
game of the NFL playoffs, the Division round is said,
that's what we're going to take a look at as
we start this nine o'clock hour, the Cowboys and head
coach Mike McCarthy parting ways, Let's take a look at
this this bracket, if you will. For the NFL, you

(02:04:31):
have obviously the Chiefs and Texans Saturday at three thirty,
the night game on Saturday Lions and Commanders, and then
in the state in the NFC, the first game on
Sunday it will be the Eagles and Rams. That's the
two o'clock kickoff, and in the late afternoon game Bills

(02:04:52):
and Ravens at five thirty. Out of all these games,
there's four games left, eight teams remaining. Which one intrigues
you the most? Well, you mean aside from this one, Yeah, because.

Speaker 4 (02:05:03):
It takes Chiefs.

Speaker 13 (02:05:04):
No.

Speaker 3 (02:05:05):
Actually, you know what included, Well, out of all four
games that that intrigues you the most, I feel no, No,
it's a no brainer.

Speaker 5 (02:05:11):
Yeah, it's in Buffalo at Orchard Park, Baltimore and Buffalo Point.
They're all important because you're move it on or going home,
and you know, with single elimination, so intriguing for all.
But if you're talking about if you're not, if you
weren't a fan of football, and you weren't a fan
of Buffalo or Baltimore, would you turn the game on
and watch?

Speaker 4 (02:05:30):
The answer is if your buddy till you say, uh yeah,
I got that's the one.

Speaker 5 (02:05:34):
So obviously I'm intrigued because we cover them, and I
want the Texans to do well, and I want to
see how they handle Andy Reid with a couple of
weeks off and when I say a couple weeks off
of getting their guys rested and ready to play, and
can they sustain it? Are they mature enough to handle
the success from last week? And that's a hard thing
to do.

Speaker 4 (02:05:50):
It's not. It's not a derogatory comment.

Speaker 5 (02:05:52):
Maturity to handle success is hell sometimes even more important
than handling failure because most guys, when you get kicked
in the teeth, fight back right. Don't want nobody wants
to be embarrassed you kicked in the teeth. The natural
reaction for most athletes I've been around, especially those high
achieving ones.

Speaker 4 (02:06:06):
They're great players. You know what they do.

Speaker 5 (02:06:09):
You know it's not the little well, once you get
knocked down, get back up. I'm not talking about that.
I'm talking about when they've embarrassed you or two. They
don't go run and hide, you go and greet it.
You know you want to fight, You want to fight back.

Speaker 4 (02:06:19):
Yeah, So that's sometimes getting your ass handed to you
is easier to deal with than it is the success.
Because success, everybody's telling you how great y are.

Speaker 5 (02:06:29):
And this week with everybody saying, here, legitimate shot, you're
going to go and beat Kansas City. This is the
team we're talking about it, and rightfully so. But it's
only been one week because they haven't put together back
to back weeks offensively all year long against good teams
and now they get the chance. But when it comes
to intrigue, Brian anybody else, there's no I mean, they're
all important. There's no game that has more wow factor

(02:06:52):
in it than the one in Buffalo. There just isn't
two MVP candidates one of them going to win it
unless they do co. I actually thought a third because
I think Dereck Henry when it comes to MVP talk,
I know a couple games, dude. What he's done for
Baltimore and Monkin's offense is unbelievable and he can listen.

(02:07:12):
You can go your four minute drill with twelve minutes
to go with that guy, Karen to go fifteen play
drive where he touches it eleven times and he doesn't care.
I've told you and I'll say it again. There's no
tougher offense to prepare for going into the week than
the Baltimore Ravens because of what the quarterback and running
back are able to do and the way Lamar is
now throwing the ball from pocket presence on the run everywhere,

(02:07:35):
and his feet obviously can destroy you. He could just
as soon rush for one hundred and twenty yards this
week is throw for three hundred. Dude just turned thirty
one years y phenomenal, phenomenal start to his career.

Speaker 4 (02:07:45):
Yeah, so that's the one.

Speaker 5 (02:07:47):
And quite frankly, there's a gap if you're talking about
just intrigue of if you're sitting around a Vegas sportsbook,
everybody wants to see that game.

Speaker 4 (02:07:54):
Yeah, everybody wants to see that game.

Speaker 5 (02:07:57):
So intriguing here locally in your own Mark Rave, but
nationally there's no more while fat what are because both
of these guys are still one of them's moving on
to the NFC Championship game, and both of them have
somebody's gonna lose. And these two quarterbacks are the most
the pressure of can you get to the next level.
Stroud's still early in his career. These two guys have
been there, they're MVP guys, they're great players, and we're

(02:08:20):
expecting them to elevate their team. Well, one of them's
going home and then and the narrative is gonna continue
on that team. Whoever that quarterback is, No matter what,
the narrative is gonna continue. Great, But he couldn't get
him over the hump. That's what they're gonna say regard
even if he throws for three to eighty. Whoever the
win loser is, somebody's going home. And it's quite frankly,

(02:08:41):
the fact that this is like Ohio State Oregon in
a different way.

Speaker 4 (02:08:44):
It is that man, they're meeting this situation.

Speaker 5 (02:08:47):
Yeah, Baltimore normally, at a normal time, the Baltimore Ravens
and Buffalo Bills, you almost feel like that's an AFC
championship game. But that team in red's pretty good. Yeah,
So this is by far the most intriguing game when
it comes to what are these two caps going to
do because of their past and they're the way they
play and how good they are.

Speaker 3 (02:09:04):
And then I look over at the NFC. I think
there's a gap between the Lions and the Commanders. I
think the Lions are obviously they're a heavy favorite according
to Vegas nine and a half point favorites, and the
Eagles and Rams. Eagles are favored by six. I think
that's a closer game than one. Maybe a little uglier too, right, yeah,
I think so. The truth is now they could both
both these NFC games. You could come out and.

Speaker 4 (02:09:25):
Say, man, those were unbelievable games.

Speaker 5 (02:09:29):
But in truth, I could also see it's coming out
of the weekend where you're like, okay, Detroit and Philadelphia
will they'll be playing in Detroit for the I mean,
if you're a betman, you'd pick those two teams to win.
I know they're at home, but think where the Rams
were first eight weeks of the season. Think where they were,
like scramble around the people that Arizona was gonna win

(02:09:51):
at Seattle and they people buried them early in the season.

Speaker 4 (02:09:55):
And here they are with this chance.

Speaker 5 (02:09:57):
But you're right, those two games field blow much more
more blonde, less star power, even though there's a bunch
of it. You almost feel like the foregone conclusion. Well,
Philadelphia to try to win, right, yet the Rams go
get the quarterback like they did last night. I'm telling
you right now the Rams will be around. But and
Washington's gonna have to have a great game to beat
a Detroit team that can score from anywhere.

Speaker 4 (02:10:18):
Thanks score from the Dan Parker. Yeah, they sure can.

Speaker 3 (02:10:20):
Seven three, two point two five seven Nineyes and never
to join Joseph, good morning.

Speaker 8 (02:10:26):
Oh yes, hello, hello, and you you're doing okay?

Speaker 3 (02:10:29):
Now we're terrible, but we're here, buddy. What's happenings in here?

Speaker 8 (02:10:34):
I was shot on that CJ running at ball over
dast week spicking today, didn't the UH Chiefs? Yeah a
good change because Buffalo quarterback always gained it out of
the yaws when you won the ball against the Chiefs.
So I'm just sure your hope get UH speak a

(02:10:54):
U feel pretty good or about taking out the pockets.
Thank you all, have a good day.

Speaker 4 (02:11:01):
YouTube Joseph. Not sure Sean that CJ.

Speaker 3 (02:11:05):
Stroud is going to run the football like Josh Allen,
not the same style quarterback, but c J. Stroud did
run a little bit more than we've seen, and they
were for big plays.

Speaker 5 (02:11:13):
So I got news for you. Forty plus yards. You'll
take that all day. Yeah, and no, he's not gonna run.
The two guys that are running the ball in that,
along with jayde and Daniels, are the three best quarterback
runners in this league right now. Yeah, and Bo Nicks
and Jalen Hurts are pretty damn good guys that can
extend plays like Mahomes pretty damn good. You know there's

(02:11:33):
guys out there, but these one thing. Listen, if Stroud
can give you forty yards on broken plays and get
you three first downs out of it, you tall them all.
But the one thing they won't do is much buffalo.
These two teams are getting ready to play. They'll design
eight runs for both quarterbacks, design him. They don't mind
if both these quarterbacks have over a dozen carries. You
should not be surprised. You shouldn't. And it's just commonplace

(02:11:57):
and so but with Stroud, I'll take another forty three
rushing game or whatever it was a little over forty.
So yeah, I'll take that all day, especially if they're
if they're attempts at it's not third and twenty nine
and you gain eighteen yards and still got a punt.
But that third and seven boom, get to the sidelines,
dive first down or run through somebody and get down
because if you notice, he didn't go feet first a
couple of times he went head first. Yeah, and you're

(02:12:19):
alive and well there, but you can still almost with
the pads, protect yourself a little more. In my opinion,
I thought he was efficient runner and there were some
devastating runs that that change again doesn't have to be
for one hundred and five, but he gets to four.
His put it this way, his fifty is Josh Allen
and Lamar Jackson's ninety right, that that's in.

Speaker 3 (02:12:36):
That's truth. Have you ever seen Jared Golfer on the football?
Minimal boil looks like you're running in moon boot. He'll
he'll run get day. That's not a special to nobody.
He scrambles out to the right and takes off for
like three yards. It looked like it took him two
weeks to get there.

Speaker 4 (02:12:52):
Or what a hell of a what a hell of
a player. But he's.

Speaker 5 (02:12:56):
He's pulling, he's pulling, he's pulling the trailer mount. Oh
my gosh, but it's funny to watch. But he's saying
that's not a strength. No slows molasses in January. He
can throw it.

Speaker 3 (02:13:09):
Can you give us white guys something that cheer for?
You could throw it all all the way through a
car washer or whatever that saying is that you say.
But yeah, damn, dude, pick up the knees. I hitched
the trailer, white guys. That dude, even if he unhitched
the trailer, there's still gonna be a trailer. He ain't moving, okay,
but maybe buy you a little time and get it.
But he ain't beating you with his feet. No, unlike
the white boy in Buffalo. Yeah, he could kill you

(02:13:31):
with the street. That's a different level.

Speaker 4 (02:13:33):
Yeah. So even Matt Stafford runs a football, but cheer
and that's another guy you don't want to see run
it either. No, Yeah, yeah that was that. That's how
white man runs a football.

Speaker 5 (02:13:49):
Yeah, that's a classic in the movie. Yeah, I remember it.
He's a pricing he can but he can be happy.
And when he sounds angry, it just feels like the
world's angry. You know, when when Steve would still holds
the best angry guy on the planet, along with Samuel L.
Jackson f bumps in different ways. But man, I'll tell
you that the Jared Goff just receivers get open. You're

(02:14:12):
not relying on his feet.

Speaker 3 (02:14:13):
You want to you want to talk wrestling next, I'd
love to. Yeah, roy Rumbles coming up?

Speaker 4 (02:14:18):
What is it called Royal Rumble? Royal Rumble? Yeah, Royal
rule never seen only no WrestleMania that's in. Like, what's
the difference between the two. Yeah, serious, what's the difference.
What's the one you just said WrestleMania. What's the infesting
WrestleMania and Royal Rumble. WrestleMania is the super Bowl for
w W. Yeah, all the celebrities like a Pro Bowl. No, no, No.

Speaker 3 (02:14:43):
Royal Rumble is just one of their bigger pay per
view events. You got similar though, it's like the AFC
Championship Game kind of thing, so that it's like a yeah, sure, yeah,
So you got the Royal Rumble, you have WrestleMania, you
got Summer Slam, and you got Survivor Series.

Speaker 5 (02:14:55):
That's your four that's a US Open, British Major, it's
one of your majors.

Speaker 4 (02:15:01):
Shots.

Speaker 3 (02:15:01):
So Royal Rumble, right is you have your matches, you
have your female Royal Rumble Witches. They have thirty participants
come out, and at any time there could be thirty ten.

Speaker 1 (02:15:11):
It could be a tag team all the time.

Speaker 3 (02:15:13):
So every man for themselves and you get eliminated by
going over the top row. Both feet have to touch out,
so there's rules on a limited right. So I have
seen like twenty guys in the rings beat down each other. Right, Yeah,
it's a free for all, it is. So it's basically
it's the Rumble Dogs.

Speaker 5 (02:15:30):
It's basically a find yourself your own zoid, correct and
get him out. Yeah, free for all here, it's free
for all. Get them hose out, dogs, get them hose out.

Speaker 3 (02:15:37):
You have special entrances, you know, like you'll have somebody
that will show up that hasn't been been in the
WW for a while, Like maybe Stone Cold's gonna show
up and in the glass right maybe.

Speaker 5 (02:15:47):
Right, maybe he doesn't play in all the all the tournaments,
but shows up for the majors and.

Speaker 4 (02:15:50):
Then he wins. Yeah righteah, right, he's the brooks Kepka
of the Freshley.

Speaker 5 (02:15:55):
And then that's Royal Rumble correct, Yeah, that's the ones
obviously your super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (02:15:59):
Yeah, super bil is WRESTLMINGI two nights. Now, yeah, when's
their season? That's it's all twenty years. But I know, yeah,
but when does the championship? Like super Bowl, we know
it hits in February, correct, super Bowl wrestle is in March.

Speaker 4 (02:16:14):
Yes, I'm always in March. End of March. I mean,
we're we're getting close to we are because we're coming
heading down the stretch, down the stretch thing come.

Speaker 3 (02:16:22):
Yeah, once you hit, once you hit, we're all rumble.
That's how you know Wrestleman is right around the corner.
Because like NASCAR were, your first race of the year
is Daytona. Yeah, that's coming in. You know they actually
announced the beginning and at the end of your championship
starts at all. I mean when they say championship, it's
not the FedEx guys, Daytona, it's not.

Speaker 5 (02:16:37):
The cup points the yeah, right, that's the beginning of this.
So the FedEx Cup Points for the golf they start the.

Speaker 3 (02:16:42):
Beginning, right, Daytona five hundred already sold out. Of course,
it's like they're like thirtieth year in a row to
sell it. No, it's on my bucket list. My dad
was a massive NASCAR fan, I want to go.

Speaker 5 (02:16:52):
To the dayton So am I and it was friggin
so you went, oh yeah, oh man, I've been to
the five hundred and and of all sporting events, I've been.
You say, Sean, you want to go back to a
super Bowl, go back to Daytona or innighty five hundred.
I choose to raise the race first. Yeah, in person,
I'm talking in person. All those yeah, both those are
all my bucket.

Speaker 4 (02:17:10):
Believable. Yeah, I bet so, but there so I got it.

Speaker 5 (02:17:12):
So the Royal Rumbles one of the majors, uh huh,
and the champ the super Bowls in March.

Speaker 4 (02:17:16):
Usually the way the script goes in WWE is it's
not scripted, and they're all they're all they're all clean,
none of them on the juice.

Speaker 3 (02:17:27):
Yeah, scripted, Yes, except the guy with eight foreheads right exactly,
or like forty inch biceps.

Speaker 13 (02:17:33):
Ye.

Speaker 4 (02:17:33):
Yeah, of course.

Speaker 3 (02:17:34):
Usually who wins the Royal Rumble gets a title shot
at WrestleMania or some kind of storyline.

Speaker 5 (02:17:39):
So is it like a bi week into the Semis
or something if you win the Royal Rumble?

Speaker 4 (02:17:43):
Yeah? Kind of yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:17:44):
Is it kind of like you're the leader in the points,
like is it the Scheffler? Okay, well, it just depends
on a challenge.

Speaker 3 (02:17:48):
It depends on how the storyline is right now. Uh,
Cody Rhodes, the American Nightmare, He's the w W champion. Okay,
then you also have the Rock is back with the
bloodline or whoever That line is the dumbest storyline I've
ever heard in w Like, it's so stupid. Jusso whoever
they is, I don't know, some stupid So Rock still

(02:18:09):
wrestle Uh yeah, he just came out there. Yeah, in
time to No, he's electric still. He's never been on
steroids either, so oh no, no never.

Speaker 13 (02:18:18):
No.

Speaker 4 (02:18:19):
Well, there's your w Yeah, there's your WWE update for
the only time.

Speaker 5 (02:18:24):
Maybe we had to do it once a week. That's
not let's let's stop because I still you'll have to
remind me that the Super Bowls in March. Yeah, him up,
Gotchayeah into March early April.

Speaker 3 (02:18:33):
Man, so you know you got Opening Day from Ajor
League Baseball and you got WrestleMania based on the same weekend.

Speaker 4 (02:18:37):
I mean, thank you and good night, and let's get
to break right here. On seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (02:18:44):
The Houston Sports World, Yeah, Sean Salisbury knows how to
play the game because he really played the game. Yeah,
former prol QB right here. He actually has it on
his name tag former pro QB right here. Back to
Sean on Sports Talk seven ninety. They did a phenomenal

(02:19:05):
job for both of those teams.

Speaker 4 (02:19:08):
I mean it, it was great.

Speaker 3 (02:19:09):
Great to see them, the Arizona Cardinal supporting both of
those teams. The teams in Los Angeles, there are twelve
pro sports teams. This came from Law Murray. He is
a writer for The Athletic. He covers the Clippers. He
used to be an NBA editor at ESPN. He tweeted
out a press release from the twelve pro sports teams

(02:19:32):
in the city of Los Angeles. That's the Angel City FC,
the Angels, the Chargers, the Clippers, the Dodgers, the Ducks,
the Galaxy, the Kings, the LAFC, the Lakers, the Rams,
and the Sparks. Obviously, the fires are still raging in
Los Angeles. A lot of people have been displaced, a
lot of homes been destroyed. We know all the devastation.

(02:19:54):
They've come together to donate eight million dollars to support
thevictims of the fires. Eight million dollars for twelve professional
sports teams. That's just a little bit above six hundred
and fifty grand each. If I'm not mistaken, I think
the Texans themselves donated like a million bucks twelve pro

(02:20:16):
sports teams in Los Angeles, and that's all you're combining
to put together, but to donate and.

Speaker 4 (02:20:22):
Those those are your people live there in your hometown.
Come on, man, you what you.

Speaker 5 (02:20:30):
Don't want to do today is get me started on that,
and get me started on the government leadership. Come on,
and how how horrendous they are embarrassing, fraudulent and disgraceful
leadership in the state of California. So the text you

(02:20:51):
can argue with me all you want. I'm from that state.
They have single handedly ruined the most as beautiful a
state as areas.

Speaker 4 (02:20:57):
And Texans themselves donating a million bucks.

Speaker 5 (02:21:01):
Yeah, oh, you don't get me started, because the truth is,
all I want to do is focus on those the
wild life and the families and their homes and the
I want to you know, the compassion you have for
those that are going through what is devastating. Dogs looking
at people trying to be reunited with family, dogs, animals,
parent people, What about the people that weren't insured, that
are eighty yeah, and what they're gonna do, they're gonna say,

(02:21:24):
and they they still got to pay mortgage, right, Oh yeah,
they still got to pay mortgage, did you? And then
when they pay more without insurance. So if you don't
have enough money, that's let's say you've been in that
house forever, it's paid for and you don't have insurance.
And what they're gonna do is they're gonna come in
and if you can't afford to pay it, and you
got again, you can't afford to rebuild your home. Now

(02:21:44):
the rich people are gonna be fine, they'll rebuild. Now,
you're not gonna be You lost some belongings, and obviously
that's that. That's hopefully not not a life. But I
think sixteen people is a death toll. And who knows
how much wild life around us?

Speaker 3 (02:21:56):
I saw, not to correct or anything, but this morning
that's coming up on thirty one one I saw.

Speaker 4 (02:22:00):
Okay, it was sixteen as of yesterday. Yeah, so it's
above thirty.

Speaker 5 (02:22:03):
I think about that one sixteen, so it's doubled in
the who and I don't know what they're finding in
the rubble. It's awful regardless one's too many.

Speaker 4 (02:22:11):
Too many?

Speaker 5 (02:22:11):
Yeah, is they're gonna they're gonna you hear about smart season.
The Olympics are coming. I'm just telling you, if they
can't afford, what's the person gonna do the can't afford
to rebuild? They're gonna run them out. And I watched
they're gonna put something else there. They're gonna land grab
the hell out right they are. Yeah, I watched that

(02:22:32):
stand the leadership in that state.

Speaker 3 (02:22:33):
I watched the thing yesterday where they were talking about
the housing market in LA. There's already like a home
shortage and people are trying to get in, trying to
get out, whatever the case is. Uh, there are people,
there are landlords, there are home owners that have their
homes out for rent that are taking advantage of the situation.
One day, there was a home in the Palisades that
was up for rent for twenty four thousand dollars a

(02:22:56):
month and you would get it, and then twelve hours
later that land lord jacked it up to thirty four
thousand dollars. Because so many people are trying to rent
a home right now because they have nowhere to go,
I thought, what an absolute what a joke?

Speaker 4 (02:23:07):
I thought that that.

Speaker 5 (02:23:08):
Clown who's the governor of the state, you know, the
clownage that is he worse than I mean, just abysmal. Yeah, California. Yes,
and even the people that voted for him. I don't
care who you vote for, but for him, I'm not
talking about party, and I'm talking about for him specifically.
They're they're second guess in it because he's a horrible leader. Yeah,

(02:23:29):
he's a whole and he's ruining his political career with
his stupidity in that state. He says they're going to
turn on him. He does suck, He sucks, he's a fraud,
and he's a disgrace. But with that in mind, is
that I thought he said, we're not allowing anybody to
price couch.

Speaker 4 (02:23:44):
Sure you're not.

Speaker 5 (02:23:47):
And if the rules are set up to allow the
laws are set up to allow you to do it,
of course they're going to because somebody is gonna somebody
will spend the money to rent it. Yeah, but it's
just those people like horrible, the wildlife, everything, restaurant everything.
It looks like it looked like somebody decided they were
clearing that out and they were going to do something
something that was right, they were going to just clear
it out and put something else in there. That's how

(02:24:07):
bad this looks. And it's and yeah, it's it's I mean,
every dollar helps, but it's your own people. You could
I mean, you know, we all everybody can't give. I
get that with the ones that can.

Speaker 3 (02:24:20):
Yeah, but but twelve pro sports teams and you can't
each donate a million. Come on, man, if you're the Dodgers, dude,
you know how much money you've deferred, you know how
much money you have in your payroll.

Speaker 5 (02:24:32):
Come on, man, I'm not here to tell you. I know,
I know you're not either here to tell them what
they should give. Yeah, but this is a time. It's
amazing inevitably when you you know, we all at some
point in time need help with something, and this is
a city that needs it.

Speaker 4 (02:24:48):
Dude that have you ever been to that area?

Speaker 5 (02:24:50):
Yes, it's beautiful, Unbelieva is beautiful, beautiful, man specific palace
it is.

Speaker 3 (02:24:56):
It is the most beautiful, in my opinion, it is
one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

Speaker 5 (02:25:00):
Well, that seventeen mile drive up at Pebble Beach, up
in that Cypress Point and stuff phenomenal, but it's amazing.
So regardless of listen, devastation doesn't know a tax bracket.

Speaker 4 (02:25:11):
It hits.

Speaker 5 (02:25:12):
And the problem is, though with devastation, the billionaire or
the multi millionaire can rebuild their home, the seventy five
year old's family who's been in there forever and has
worked and retiring and done everything I can to save
money now doesn't have insurance. And how about the irony
of where they were playing the game at State Farmfield
in Arizona. That whole irony about them. But those folks,

(02:25:34):
and that's close to I have buddies that grew up
in that time, went to Pali High School. Yeah, I
mean the feeder Thatt UCLA and us see that whole thing,
that whole area. And listen, we all know somebody who's affected.
I'm just telling you we do. Friends of mine who've
lost this, people who've lost a home. People, it's just
it's just awful. And here you are, we're two hours

(02:25:55):
away by flight, two and a half hours away flight.
It feels like it's a whole different world on the
coast right now.

Speaker 12 (02:26:02):
It is.

Speaker 5 (02:26:03):
It's it's that's that's the best way to describe it,
because it is it is horrible eerie. Yeah, it's very eerie, and.

Speaker 4 (02:26:08):
God blessed those folks. And I just give what you
can and even if it's your time in elbow grease
because they're gonna need it.

Speaker 8 (02:26:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:26:15):
And I also saw last night on the weather report
that those winds were supposed to pick up overnight and
again into today, and that what is it a red
flag warning or whatever the highest wind warning is. It
stretches all the way down to your hometown Escondido.

Speaker 4 (02:26:28):
Of course it does. God forbid that. Any sant Ana wins.
I guarantee you. I guarantee you.

Speaker 5 (02:26:35):
You're smelling our seeings some kind of smoker members in
San Diego two hours.

Speaker 4 (02:26:38):
I guarantee it. Yeah, it's moving.

Speaker 5 (02:26:40):
It was a hurricane, yeah by fire, Yes, wins hurricane
there were hurricane winds consistent and hurricane wins with a
fire attached to it.

Speaker 4 (02:26:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:26:53):
The day it feels like the exact definition of a
apocalyptic two nuts.

Speaker 4 (02:26:58):
Yeah, crazy mante.

Speaker 3 (02:26:59):
I just thought the the Pro Sports twelve of them
only coming together for eight million, I just thought it
was pathetic.

Speaker 4 (02:27:05):
It seems a little on the lights light side. That's
what I would think out like I thought I.

Speaker 3 (02:27:09):
Would have read twelve teams for twelve million, because the
Texans themselves donated a million dollars to help the relief
fund over in Los Angeles.

Speaker 4 (02:27:16):
Texas always does, always, always gives more. Yeah, Greg Abba
always governor.

Speaker 3 (02:27:20):
He sent over, they sent over firefighters, saw Huddle fire department,
Austin Fied apartment, all kinds of different. I think there's
some magnolia from right down the road here. Yeah, that
we're driving out to the west coast to help.

Speaker 4 (02:27:30):
The Texans know how to make it make a difference. Yeah,
theyse do. Yeah, Yeah, there's no doubt.

Speaker 8 (02:27:34):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:27:35):
All right, let's get back to talking football and the
Texans taken on the Chiefs.

Speaker 8 (02:27:39):
Next.

Speaker 4 (02:27:40):
Doctor Jeff Witz at wits at vision dot com wh

All right, yep, you're gonna survive. I'm fine, Okay, I'm fine.
My team's still Rolland you think Dion Sanders is gonna
be the next head coach for the Cowboys? Hell now,
how would they make that work? Annie wants to defer
to Jerry for everything.

Speaker 3 (02:28:55):
Could you imagine just think about like one to micro Look, man,
I I know that Jerry Jones and Dallas Cowboys are
one of the most marketable franchises in all of sports.
Just imagine Deon Sanders coming to town and being your
head coach. Dude, that would just draw the the attention
marketing just by hiring him alone will probably lead Jerry

(02:29:18):
Jones to doing it.

Speaker 5 (02:29:18):
You'll get more attention in March then most teams get
during the fall. Yeah, in the NFL, we won't go
away off there because Dion knows how to Dion knows
how to get people to tune in and and to
talk about his program. Deon's a he's a lightning rod
for that, and it's a and it's an art. Make

(02:29:39):
no mistake in Jerry, make sure that it happens. So
they're always talking about the Cowboys. This genius when it
comes to that. It's just the problem is if Dion
doesn't get a lot of say in the building, if
he were to take it and Jerry still got all
to say, that feels like a situation that you get
sideways fairly.

Speaker 4 (02:29:55):
Quickly, right, laughing stuff.

Speaker 5 (02:29:58):
If you're a head coach again and you're taking a
job and they're telling you who you have to hire
as your assistant coaches, Nope, I would suggest you move on.

Speaker 4 (02:30:04):
Hard pass on that one. Man agreed.

Speaker 3 (02:30:06):
I just the way that Jerry Jones has handled this
organization over the last several years as a general manager,
not just of the owner, but as the GM, he's
gotten worse and worse.

Speaker 4 (02:30:15):
It's incompetent at this point.

Speaker 5 (02:30:17):
But Jerry, see what what Jerry doesn't understand when it
comes to the GM in the football side, he's a
big part of the problem.

Speaker 4 (02:30:22):
I know he's the problem. He doesn't think so, No,
of course not no.

Speaker 5 (02:30:25):
If there's that, if there's that narcissist I confessed somebody
else's fault, basically by not paying Mike McCarthy.

Speaker 4 (02:30:32):
He's putting a lot of it on McCarthy.

Speaker 3 (02:30:34):
Sean, I'm gonna keep telling you, man, if you're not
gonna ask questions that I want to answer, I'll get
somebody else.

Speaker 4 (02:30:41):
Yes, Sean, I'll go get a football get a football guy. Look,
I didn't know that Cooper Rush had an incentive. If
you know what I wanted to see Trey Lance he
could be the q QB of the future. Well getting hurt.

Speaker 5 (02:30:54):
If you didn't know when you wanted to see Cooper
Rush get his incentive, but you didn't realize it was
this week and he was that close then?

Speaker 4 (02:31:00):
Hey him anyway, you know I love about that. Why
I know we can't do that, Sean, that you don't
need to be digging into my pockets. Yeah, okay, I mean,
but unfortunately I didn't have to for him. What a bummer?
What Cooper's are Cooper Cooper Rush.

Speaker 5 (02:31:17):
He's a really good guy to have on the street,
and unfortunate didn't get a bonus in one thing.

Speaker 4 (02:31:21):
I made sure of it. I like the band Rush. Yeah,
they they them in canvas. That's well, that's why I
signed him in the first place.

Speaker 5 (02:31:30):
Lee, we had a beer together years ago, and I
used to go play drums in the basement with Neil Peart.

Speaker 4 (02:31:37):
Neil Peer his birthday the other day, wasn't it god
d r r P. Neil Peart legend the best. I
think his birthday was the other day will stil Peart
came over and gave a concert.

Speaker 3 (02:31:51):
Oh no, it was unfortunately his death anniversary January seventh,
that's what it was.

Speaker 4 (02:31:56):
We could go today at All Timers R All Time right,
all right, Yeah, Jerry's Jerry until Jerry decides that he's
not the power in the building, and he is until
Jerry gets out of the football way, x'es and o's
and has to control everything in the building. The Cowboys
won't win a.

Speaker 3 (02:32:12):
Super Bowl, super Bowl or not super Bowl Sunday is
what the ninth, right, February ninth?

Speaker 4 (02:32:17):
Is that what it is? Pretty sure we got this
week and then the championship game next week, which would
be what's February ninth.

Speaker 3 (02:32:24):
There you go, what happens first the Super bowls played
or Alex Bregman signs with a team played first?

Speaker 4 (02:32:30):
Bregman gonna sign before then? Really, what do you think
super Bowl? Super Bowl? Yeah, you guys are probably going
to be day y'all to send it to y'all so
we can. You know, I look every day and nothing, So.

Speaker 3 (02:32:42):
No, I think the super Bowl happens before Bregman signs
with the team. We're going to go into another situation
where another big time player for Scott Boris has not
signed with the team and spring training pitchers and catchers
are reporting.

Speaker 4 (02:32:57):
That's where we're headed.

Speaker 3 (02:32:59):
And you know, we all always talk about Scott Boris
and the relationship he has with his players, with his clients,
with organizations. If Bregman goes into spring training or a
spring training start ken't pictures and schedule start to report pregnant,
so doesn't have a team. That's like the third year
in a row that this has happened with another Boris client.
At what point is it Boris and not the player? Well,

(02:33:20):
once again, I know the player, I know where your
head's aut in it for the players, at some point
you go to him and say sign for this amount,
let's go. And if you don't, why do you think
sometimes guys move on from agents? Jordan Montgomery last year fired.

Speaker 4 (02:33:35):
You get to a point.

Speaker 5 (02:33:35):
I'm not saying, whether it's Boris or anybody else, I
don't work for the agent.

Speaker 4 (02:33:40):
The agent works for me.

Speaker 5 (02:33:41):
So while it is the agent who's advising you, there
comes a point in time when you go say, go
tell them for a bucks seventy I'm playing for them,
whoever it is, and you get it done. And if
he says no, I'm not going to do that, you say, yeah,
yeah you are.

Speaker 4 (02:33:59):
So if the.

Speaker 5 (02:34:00):
Agent's running the entire show, you might as well give
him power of attorney if that's the case. So, while
I understand the agent's advice, you may not like for
as a fan base, the truth of the matter is
if he hasn't signed yet and he's still out pricing himself.

Speaker 4 (02:34:14):
That's not just on Boris, that's Bregman as well or
anybody else, for any other agent who decides to hold
out with The agent's job is to negotiate on your behalf,
bust his ass, gets you the best deal possible and
inform you every step of the way. It's your job
to decide when you want to do it and where
you're going to do it, not his. So don't let
the player off the hook, do not, because I mean

(02:34:37):
then if they're just trying to get every single ounce
out of the turn up, well then you end up
going to a place maybe you didn't want to go
in the first place. I cannot believe it's taken this long,
oh man.

Speaker 3 (02:34:48):
I really didn't think it was going to take this
long at all, because it's the fourteenth, a month away
from Butcher's Chescher's reporting. I thought it would have happened
in December.

Speaker 4 (02:35:00):
I really did. But it is what it is.

Speaker 5 (02:35:02):
Man his money and his his new venue or come
back here, so wherever whatever he decides, hopefully it'll be
a place he wants to play and get what he
feels he deserved.

Speaker 3 (02:35:12):
Let's get to the final segment here on a Tuesday
edition to The Shawn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 4 (02:35:16):
Next on Sports Talk seven to eighty, we.

Speaker 1 (02:35:19):
Want to win, Sean Salisbury continues on seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (02:35:24):
Could be oh I thought it was anyways. Yeah, doppel Dangers,
doppel Gangerah, douppel Ganger, dopplegangers. Yep, you got one. I
hope not. Poor guys. I sure as hell hope not.
Oh man, I want anybody to have that heaped on him.

(02:35:45):
You seen the weather for next week? Yeah? Cold weekend
of next week?

Speaker 8 (02:35:48):
Cold?

Speaker 4 (02:35:48):
A witch? Is a witch? Is you know what? A
brass brown?

Speaker 1 (02:35:52):
No?

Speaker 4 (02:35:52):
What do you mean? Which is?

Speaker 13 (02:35:53):
What?

Speaker 4 (02:35:53):
Which is? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:35:57):
It's cold, gonna be cold next week there, buddy, apparently
some snow. Yeah, so we'll have to uh see, it's
gonna be cold in Kansas City this weekend. That's for
damn sure. Uh for these Houston Texans.

Speaker 3 (02:36:10):
You know what, Demico, have them practice outside, have them
sleep outside, Go sleep with some freezers.

Speaker 4 (02:36:15):
Just get used to it.

Speaker 5 (02:36:16):
And guess what, it's still not used to it. You
can sleep outside all you want. Well, it's like if
you've ever gone camping and you get freezing it. I've
never actually been camping.

Speaker 4 (02:36:25):
Okay I have a million times, and you go camping,
you haven't either, No, I have not. When you camp
i've been is like I say in an R. Yeah,
so it's you know, you're you're like a you're a
glam glamper or right, here's the deal.

Speaker 5 (02:36:38):
You go and you get cold at night, no matter
how many blankets you have, you still get cold because
night it's it's it's cold. And then you wake up
the next day and guess what it's guess what the
next night is cold.

Speaker 4 (02:36:49):
You're not used to it.

Speaker 5 (02:36:50):
So yeah, listen, you get playing in the flow of
a game, but it can also lead to that false
sense of security. Then you go into that's the worst
about halftime. I've always said it. You're reason you're playing,
and you finally get into a rhythm and it's cold,
as you know, we's balls and you go into the
locker room and you're in there for twelve minutes and
they got the heat. You know, it's cozy and it's warm,
and maybe you change your jersey or your socks or

(02:37:11):
whatever and grabbed a cup of coffee to warm up,
and then you got to go back out.

Speaker 4 (02:37:15):
That sucks. And if it's if it's raining and.

Speaker 5 (02:37:18):
Cold, that jersey sticks to you, you go in and
take it off and grab a new one, or a
while you know, a dry one. And in the first hit,
but it's almost you want to go back to the
high school days, remember in high school or in Pop Warner,
where you'd go to the side, grab some oranges and
you'd stay on the field, but your halftime was there.
That's how you want. Just come to the sideline, let
us sit by the heaters. But let's do it here

(02:37:39):
take five minutes, so let's go. Let's start the second
half quicker, because halftime such a false sense of security.
It blows when it's cold, because you know you're going
right and you got to redo everything after you've warmed
up in the locker room, so you don't get used
to it. Now playing it, you learn how to play
in it, but you're still gonna be if you're not playing,
you're gonna sit on the heater. And if you are playing,
you're gonna hope you get warm. And I'll tell you
what good drives you get warm quick, it'll make you

(02:38:03):
feel really good. It gets awful cold when you're getting
your ass kicked if it's twenty degrees, it'll feel like
minus eight.

Speaker 3 (02:38:08):
So I looked yesterday on weather dot Com during the
show what it was going to be on Saturday, and
I believe it was twenty nine degrees yesterday.

Speaker 4 (02:38:16):
It's already dropped.

Speaker 3 (02:38:17):
So the projected forecast on Saturday, twenty six degrees is
the high low of eight ten percent chance of precipitation
with a steady wind of thirteen miles an hour, which
is gonna make it feel like.

Speaker 4 (02:38:29):
Six degrees. I've been there, dude.

Speaker 3 (02:38:34):
Dude's gonna have gus up upwards of twenty five to
thirty miles an hour. Hell no, I'm out dogged.

Speaker 4 (02:38:40):
They got any YELEMI you don't want. No, you'd rather
have snow than rain because it doesn't you know what
I'm saying. It's it's easier to deal with and then
the cold and then the wind and it's outdoors. Okay, Well,
at least you know what.

Speaker 3 (02:38:52):
The moon rise comes up at ten twenty five and
it's a waning gibeus, So yeah, you know better than that.

Speaker 4 (02:38:56):
I'll love a good waning gibbous. A lot of waning gibbeos.
Watch watched a lot of tape on the Waning Gibbus great.

Speaker 3 (02:39:05):
Player the index two out of eleven during the day
because it's going to be poorly cloudy six degrees yeah,
of separation or maybe.

Speaker 4 (02:39:13):
Okay, what's the coldest you played in?

Speaker 13 (02:39:16):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (02:39:17):
Every bit that cold? Then you played what was that
the vet? Didn't you play in a really really cool game?

Speaker 5 (02:39:21):
Or there played the one in in the Metal Lands
a playoff game. But it's so frigging cold.

Speaker 4 (02:39:26):
It was raining. It was that that that wet cold,
and it got it and it was it was teeth
chattering cold to the point where you like, serve well survival,
but the mental toughness that you've got to get through
it because you still got to play it and the
game ain't going away. So yeah, it can be brutal,

(02:39:46):
but you know what, then you just learn to say, Okay,
I'm gonna be better in bad weather than the other guy. Yeah,
that's really what it gets down to. Some thrive in it,
and the Chiefs it's pretty good at that. Yeah, and
for the Texans it's a Waning Gibbus. So the Wanning
Gibbis is a five star. There you go, five tool
player Wanning, give us it's gonna be cold as balls
up there. Man.

Speaker 5 (02:40:05):
You stick them in the middle of the lineup and
you hope it works out. Put him at quarterback and
let's get the waning. Give us going, Yeah, getting rolling dog.
He's better than Cumula on Nimbus.

Speaker 4 (02:40:13):
He could be. Oh, Cumulo Nimbus is kind of like
the t Rex of the world. Yeah, yeah, it should
be an interesting one. We still got three days of
breakdown before they're due.

Speaker 3 (02:40:22):
It's we're gonna have good wall to wall coverage over
these Texans and Chiefs for the rest of the week.
He and Sean Salisbury triple. Emmanuel Elmore is our producer,
