Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury. Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Shawn Salisbury to usc truths, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Shawn Salisbury Show,
Thursday Night Football Cincinnati, taken.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
On Baltimore Bengals and Ravens Texans. Adding some O line
debt from the Waiver Wire. We'll go through that as well.
Scott Boris speaking to the media in regards to Dana
Brown and Alex Bregman are the astros in talk to
bring back Justin Verlander will also discuss that this morning.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
Shawn Tripoli, good morning. What's happening?
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Sup?
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Good morning to say suck just a simple Sup, what's
up with you? I ain't none but the rent dog.
You said there's another hurricane. I mean we're in It's
November seventh hurricane and Rafael to strengthen into a Category
three storm. It's about to go over Cuba, damn about
to get in the Gulf after that.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
So hey, think about this.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
Did you wake up when you walked outside and that
temper did that humidity hit you?
Speaker 4 (01:15):
It is November seventh, I can tell you.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Is that November or that November humidity felt a little cheaper,
felt a little more affordable, did it?
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Yeah, well that's probably a fact.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Just the facts, Jack.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
You know, good morning, Yeah, it's a good morning.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Triple he here? Did he shot up the air?
Speaker 4 (01:39):
I think so, Triple you here?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yep?
Speaker 4 (01:43):
You want Justin er landerback? What's my price? M two
years thirty million? That's not about right? Oh? Oh, Mike,
grip this my seeing this right now. I gripped this
mind and get together.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
You say two years thirty Mili? Yeah, what do you
make last year?
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Twenty? I think it was like twenty five, twenty five?
What do you think the fifteen million year?
Speaker 1 (02:21):
That's it?
Speaker 5 (02:23):
I'm for me, I'm okay, I'm ready to move on.
You say, for move on? Ten million a year cheaper?
Is it worth keeping him in there? Or is he just?
Is it kind of slowing down the process of one
of these young guys. It can be awesome, not that
he can't teach it, but you know, he's got goals,
and we know what those goals are. Right, you want
to win, but he also like to get the three
hundred wins. There's things he wants to accomplish. And I
(02:44):
don't blame him.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
He made twenty two point five last year.
Speaker 5 (02:47):
So you're saying seven million and a half seven and
a half million less per year.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Yeah, I wouldn't sign him to a two year contract,
so just one?
Speaker 5 (02:57):
Yeah, why why why can't you get Why can't it
be a show me thing for your healthy performance?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
With him?
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Too? He's not? Are we above that with him?
Speaker 3 (03:05):
This man didn't even make the postseason roster op albeit
it was just a well I say, just a wild cards.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Here's three game series.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
But my gut is for fifteen million in relationship they'd.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Consider keeping him. Yeah, I think it's all going to
go on. I would not give him one year, twenty
five million. It's all going to be in the relationship
with him, and Jim Green agreed.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
So from my vantage point, a healthy Verlander helps you,
does he? Though I said a health well, I would
think a guy that's been in the league that long
and is healthy can give me six innings or five
and two thirds innings of decent baseball. But if you're
saying he wants more than fifteen wants more than one year,
which I think he's probably gonna want.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
My answers, no, yeah, I'm okay, moving on, move on.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
I don't think he's the difference in whether I win
a championship or not. Now, at this stage of his career,
I think he's still got wins in him. He's no
longer he's he's not the one or two in in your.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Pitching rotation.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
Though maybe he's healthy now he'd go somewhere and win
fifteen games. Maybe if he's healthy, I mean, he's good.
That still exists. But I can't make this some long term,
forty million dollar two year deal. I don't think he's worth.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Twenty million a year right now, So it looks like
I got other needs, Dana Brown told MLB Networks John
MOROSEI quote, I'm talking to Mike Pip Mark Piper today,
so we'll know a little bit more about his plans.
JV's time here in Houston has been outstanding, been a
big part of the winning tradition here. So we're going
to talk to Mark and probably know a little bit
more later.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
End quote.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Also in that interview, he did say that in these
conversations they would speak about a potential reunion between the
Astros and Justin Verlan.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
Well, now think about how that narrated the voice, just
the way you're saying it, How much different it sounds
than when they're going after Alex pregnant.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
One is yes, we want and we're gonna go out.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
It's almost a fast and furious let's go get him
this one as well. We'll talk to the agency where
they are. To me, it feels like, where's the health
and what kind of what kind of money are you
asking for there? God, I mean I almost feel like
fifteen million dollars maybe too much almost, I almost feel
that way, But.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
I get it.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
I mean, if he can get it somewhere else, he's
probably gonna go get it. Yeah, especially if it's more
than one year or two and he wants to get
that sure the three wins so I mean, which he's
already said publicly, he's not my put it this way.
As far as priorities go, there's I think there's four
or five more priorities. If it fits in and you
can make it work money wise, and you think that
he's healthy and can give you, you know, what.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Are we asking for one hundred and fifty innings?
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (05:45):
Maybe somewhere in that range. If you think you can
get that from him, then and what say twenty four
to twenty five starts maybe twenty two starts somewhere in
that range. Yeah, for fifteen million, i'd consider it. I'm
not going to It's not one year with an other option.
It's one year and prove you can stay healthy again
and that you still got that if not letting him
(06:07):
walks not not going to devastate my team. Yeah, it
didn't devastate my team when he went to New Mets
in the first time. No great bringing him back, but
he's saying he's a hell of a pitcher, but had
a hell of a run. But he's no longer. He's
no longer the priority on my staff. No for me,
just move on, like, let him go somewhere in a
long Oh my gosh, we lost. No, if it's time
(06:30):
to move on, to sign to move on, it's not.
It's not gonna put it this way. Having him or
not having him, I don't think will be the difference
in whether you win a World Series next year or not.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
I don't think so either. I don't think so either.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
I think they have a pretty solid, stiff pitching staff
coming back.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Obviously there's gonna be some guys that will sign to
a long term, bigger money back than him.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
That's exactly where I was going to lead to, is
you need to be talking to the agent of you say, Kakuchie,
get that back, Get that dude signed to a two
or three year deal. Let him get in this rotation.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
If he said, if you said Kakucci for four years.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Eighty million, yeah, three years at sixty you know sixty one,
I mean paying him twenty to twenty two million a year,
kind of what Verlander's money was last year?
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Is that about right? Fair?
Speaker 5 (07:16):
If you said that one or Verlander for one year
at twenty million, I'm taking Kakuchi.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Yeah, I would. I would. I want you say Kakuchi
Cuchi's a better picture right now?
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Yeah, yeah, there's no question. I mean, look what he
did when he came over to the Ashles.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Oh, you guys don't have to make the point.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
He may, maybe you may be able to have both,
but I don't think that on the pecking you know,
you have your Okay, here's his first priorty, second, third, fourth,
and fifth. I would say Verlander's down the top five.
I don't think that. I don't think they're beating down
the door to get to them and say, hey, we.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Got to keep him. Guess who is ah who's Cokucci? Yes, yeah,
because the Scott Bars guy as well. In twenty twenty
two he made sixteen million. In twenty twenty three he
made ten million, and this season, obviously coming over from Toronto,
he made uh ten million Astros three from the Astros,
(08:04):
almost seven from the Blue Jays. So yeah, even for him,
I would I would give him a million yep, eighteen
million for four years or something seventy two million bucks
before he was in his early thirty thirty three. Okay,
a three year deal it I probably give him. Ye
what about a three year deal at sixty million? I
wouldn't even go that high. I'd give him three years
(08:26):
eighteen what's eighteen times three? That's uh what do you see?
Speaker 1 (08:29):
What are you asking?
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Eighteen eighteen million year for three years? Yeah, so fifty
four that's fine. Yeah, I do. I can live that.
Live with that. I do that. Before i'd worry about
if Verlander's coming back or not.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
I'm still so curious as to what the plan is
for the Houston Astros with this offseason, like are they
actually going to spend money? Will Bregman walk? Will Christian
Walker be a top priority for the first.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
Green walk and will Christian walk or walk into the
building you know what I'm saying? Or will we walk in?
And what will be on his playlist? Walking in Memphis?
Speaker 4 (09:05):
Ye, walk tall as you say, carry a big stick.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
It's speak softly, quietly, carry a big stick.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
That's not it? Yeah it is?
Speaker 5 (09:13):
No, that's actually not it? Sure, yeah it speaks softly
and carry a big stick. I mean to my can knowledge,
I spell it, I call it. I'm hooked on phonics,
canoledge triple.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
The streets saying, what is it again? Say it again?
The streets don't know. That's saying they don't saying right.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Well, now are the streets saying, walk quietly, carry a
big stick, speak softly, softly, carry a big stick your
Google machine?
Speaker 4 (09:43):
So why are you all right?
Speaker 5 (09:45):
Do you want to know why you speak softly? Speak
because you don't because talk is cheap.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Is cheap?
Speaker 5 (09:50):
You speak soft and you carry a big stick, meaning
you wheeld a big stick that if someone wants to do.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
I don't have to say much. But when it gets
right in the nut cut time, I'm right here. Do
you know how it was popularized? I think it was
one of our presidents.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
It was President Theodore Teddy Rose Roosevelt in nineteen oh three.
THEO the phrase speaks softly and carry a big stick
is a proverb advising the tactic tactic of caution and
non aggression, backed up by the ability to carry out
violent action if required.
Speaker 5 (10:22):
There you go, You work in silence, and then push
me to the limits, and then I open up a
cattle woop passes basically what THEO said.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
Okay, so it speaks softly, carry a big stick.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
I'm trying to tell you that for like two years
the city to go to to what do you call it?
Speaker 3 (10:35):
It's walk soft No, walk quietly and carry big stick. No, no,
that's not it. You got to you gotta be a
light stepper. No oh no, yes, no, nobody asked. And
that's saying to be light in your loafers. Okay, nobody
said that. You can't walk heavy. You can't have gator feet.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
You know where it's because then they'll hear you coming
in when you're trying to sneak it tack exactly. No,
you gotta walk away.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
I feel where you're coming from, but that ain't sure. Yeah,
I'm positive I know about THEO. Let me see, I
don't know, man, I know what fools better do to
recognize hmmm.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
Mmm, check that out. I mean, I'm a wealthy, useless
knowledge dude. Walk quietly and carry a big stick. That's
not the same. It is also what Derek just called
in and said. He said he's a history teacher. I
think that's what he said. That's the correct one.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
I don't know, walk quietly and carry a big stick. No, man,
can we get Derek back up on the horn. We
can get him on the phone line.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
But a president the same people refer to. I'm not
saying that that hasn't been said this one walk quietly,
it's a different. So it speaks softly. Were this the
derivative of this is speak softly and carry a big stick.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Yeah. I don't care what history class you learned or
what they did. That's the one.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
The day they taught about Teddy Roosevelt, right, is the
day that that's It stems from how we approach it
in when we're talking about stuff like this war or
dealing with people in history. There's probably fifteen different speak softly,
tread lightly.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
I've heard all this is a part of Roosevelt's big
stick diplomacy. There you go. So that is all.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
It's all, it's all. It all derives from what you
were saying. But there is a variation courses quietly and
carry also a variation of these nuts. So say these
sub say.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Dames, too many D's nuts, you know, too many dse
nuts jokes.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Yeah, no, no, there's never two videos.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
You know, we're not ready for TV.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
My guy Jay I went out to to Katie Golf Club,
which is the facility to go out there and full
short game and and uh and his son are out
there and I'm telling you can throw parties out there.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
It's going to be this facility of the high schools.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
You work on your short game, you use this uh,
you know the they have.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Teaching pros beer. It's all over and they got it
measured perfectly. You indoor, you got the you know, the
the hitting bays where you can see all full swing
and then you work on your putting game. Over here.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
They got the perfect golf balls, so you know how
the ball flies off a callaway to the you know
that hits right like you'd wanted to off your club
where it's not just some hard rock range ball, and
you know the around the greens and chipping out of
They got bunkers there. It is a haven for people
who want to get better and have short game, and
it's on a couple of acres. It is phenomenal. Well,
(13:32):
we're leaving. So I spent time with him and his
son and they were awesome. I say, we're leaving talking about,
you know, all the great things this is. Can't wait.
It's not far from the house. It's out there and
Katie and so I'm leaving and they say, hey, did
we show you? They got a couple of little cottages
on there. Do we show you the the uh Dragon room?
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Dude?
Speaker 4 (13:49):
And I'm like, oh, did he get you?
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Get me?
Speaker 4 (13:52):
And we're leaving in Jay and his son's a good one.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Good it was.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
And because we're just leaving, I mean I'd been there
like thirty five forty five minutes and we're even We're
talking about golf and and the short game and how
I'm working on my short game and you got the
you know, the swing the swing coach in there, and
just we're all going, it's just look at the field.
It's awesome. You can go there for hours and work
on work on your game, on your short game, right,
and the way they have it full swing ten bays.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
It's the great facility.
Speaker 5 (14:18):
And he said, you got a dragon room because they're
gonna eventually put in they're putting in a barbershop there,
but then a golf yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Play.
Speaker 5 (14:27):
Well it's not even a country club. It's a short
game facility, right, but you could take full But it's
also a full swing because you got the the the
swing bays, with the measurements on the you know, on
the the uh laser swing, all the stuff they do.
And they're putting a barbershop there, and we're somebody to
pick up and take your dry cleaning for you, fix
your clubs. I mean, it's gonna be a full state.
(14:47):
It's phenomenal.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
And so we're leaving. He goes, oh, Sean, we didn't
shay the dragon room. I like, right, it's a dragon room.
I said, no, I haven't seen it. Let me see
you real quick. He goes, well, you mean the dragon room.
We're dragons and nuts across your four And I'm like,
come on, man, that's apparently they've been listening.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
I think you got his. Oh damn, that's a good
one man.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
It was really good.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
To go.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Hey, the Texans, they added some offensive line depth. Who
is saying who is the newest Texan for that offensive line?
We'll talk about a next in sports stock seven.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
And let's go.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
This is this Sean Salisbury show, Young Jeezy.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
Young Jeez, you'll go young jeezy other ass over this song. Yeah,
you ever heard go get A, Go Get A. I
believe I have a Yeah, I know, really there's no
h at the end of it. If it was, you
would be u h yeah get yeah, Yeah, I'd probably go.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
I don't know, it's not bad. I like Barry Manelo, Yeah,
I like Michael Bolton. That you look like a Michael Bolton.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
I don't know what that means. But also look like
a guy who would love Michael Bolt Not sure what
that means.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
And then the sitting on the dock of the bay. Yeah,
you look like a guy that would be a really good,
a really good Michael Bolton guy.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
What does that entail? I don't know. Big Adams apples.
Check out Bolt's Adams Apple. Dude, you could eat a
meal on that damn thing. No way, okay, I'm right,
as did Zel would say, check it out.
Speaker 5 (16:28):
I think it's pretty uh pretty pronounced. It's a big
ass Adams apple.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Michael Bolton.
Speaker 5 (16:36):
Yeah, take a look at that that that apple. It
looks like a pretty uh, pretty decent Adams apple.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
Yeah, it's not bad. Not battle. Well, I think it's
the angle of the dangle, you know what I'm saying?
Where it is?
Speaker 7 (16:49):
Right?
Speaker 4 (16:52):
Yeah, it's not bad. Man. Did I just say the
angle of the dangle?
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:57):
You did?
Speaker 8 (16:57):
Did you?
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Sure did?
Speaker 1 (16:59):
All right?
Speaker 4 (16:59):
Well that's that's about right though, isn't it. Yeah?
Speaker 3 (17:03):
Uh, not bad. I've seen better. Yeah, just spend on
who you've seen it on, right, Texans at some offensive
line depth? You ready for this? Bring it, Texans claim
offensive lineman Zachary Thomas off waivers from the Patriots.
Speaker 5 (17:20):
Like I said, what's going to happen is if you're
going where you want to go, it'll happen with what's
in the building, not what's out of it at the
trade deadline and depth is important. How much depth that
gives you and how impactful that'll be, we'll see. But
you're winning the championship or winning division or getting eliminated
by what's what's in the building, not what's out.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
He's played eight games for the Patriots this season. He's
seen action on eighty four offensive snaps. He's a spot
guy right now. He was being a starter. We'll see,
let's give him a chance to see what his IMPACT's like. Well,
anxious to check it out. There was one who's at Jared.
Believe it is Jared Patterson. I still have that note
from a couple of days ago that we didn't get
(18:02):
to go through.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
There it is.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
In twenty twenty three, Jared Patterson started the first seven
games at center. He gave up zero sacks in four
hundred and sixty four snaps. Wonder why he wasn't the
starter coming into this season. Obviously, maybe some stuff going
on in camp, but I haven't really heard Jared Patterson's
name very often this season.
Speaker 5 (18:24):
Nope, And they see they're around the practice field in
the meeting room every day. We're nothing. But from a distance,
there's got to be a reason there that they haven't
played it. You know what I'm saying. They start somebody else.
There's there's got to be a daily reason. You don't
just wake up and say, aah, he's good, but we'll
just start the other guy for the hell of it.
(18:45):
There's got to be a reason. And that's that's always
my like doing what we do. Even though you get
inside information from people you talk to that they're close
to the situation, not being able to sit in there
like you would and on, you know, you're hearing it
all for yourself.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Yeah, it just.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
Makes it you just you know, you've got to put
your trust in people that are close to it. But
I love to see things with my own eyes, so
I can make a different judgment than maybe somebody else sees.
And we all see stuff different. And it also depends
on what you're looking for, whether it's voting for a
candidate or whether it's picking who you should start on
your offensive line, So you may see it different than
Demiko Ryant sees it.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Juice Scrugs obviously the starting center. With Kenyon Green now
being out, Jared Patterson looks like he's going to be
the starting left guard. I'm looking at the updated depth
chart and they've moved Jared Patterson from backup center to
starting left guard.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
Well, so if he can give you quality minutes and
take care of it, that's awesome.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
Right, can't do worse than Kenyon Green. What do you
call scrugs scruggsy? Yeah, I figured so much. Yeah, there's
no doubt you could go anywhere your Jay Scruggs nose.
Speaker 5 (19:50):
Yeah, there you go like juicy j Yeah, could call
him jin for gin and juice.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Yes, do you think about that?
Speaker 4 (19:59):
No, what about Scruggsy? There we go? Don't say, there
you go? What a weak ass? How why do we
add asked whys to everybody's dictation? That's just what we do.
Many you know everybody's got an s y. Yeah, that's
just kind of what we do. Except for King Tuck,
so he well, a change in offensive line.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
We'll see what sparked that gives you this week any
I mean that change not only is necessary, but had
to happen because of the injury. So we'll see if
they bond together and get this thing done. God, if
there's a weakness to try to go to try and
find it, I'm telling you they will attack you.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
So I've spound both sides of the ball.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Do you think do you think this could be a
just an absolutely? No, you know what, let's go to break.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
I absolutely think the possibilities there if you mess around
with them, I know where you're going. Put it this way,
that this team gives you as much ability as much
chance for that of any team.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
And then then as any team in the league does,
meaning that.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
Detroit right, because their offensive ability is insane, but their
defense isn't a hack either.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
They don't understand what second third year living in second
third year is.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Yeah, they don't stay there very much.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Yeah, how did the Texans defense stop Ben Johnson's offense

on a total wellness optimization plan. It's at Men'staclinic dot com.
Tell them that Brianleem has sent you. The Shawn Salisbury
(22:49):
Show continued. Their offense is cruising Jared golf playing MVP
level football, Amarass Saint Brown, Jamiir Gibbs. Uh, what's the
other runn backs name? Gosh, dang, it just slip in
my mind. Montgomery, Yeah, David Montgomery. That's a two headed monster.
They just added Zadarius Smith to their defense. They're really,
(23:12):
really good, Sean arguably the best team in the NFL.
Could this be a matchup where we see the Texans
just get absolutely blown out?
Speaker 4 (23:19):
I don't think it's going to happen at home.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
But it's if you're saying, give me three teams in
a league that are capable of putting it on.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
You to the point where they can embarrass you. This
is one of them.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
Play like you did against the Vikings, Play like you
have in a couple of the games this year, and yeah,
you'll get you, You'll get they'll get curb stomped. If
you're asking me if I think that's gonna happen, the
answer is no. I don't believe a team like the
Colts are capable right now with the I'm talking about
this year, with this roster of and there we saw
the first two games of them dominating the Texans. It
(23:51):
didn't feel like that at all. I don't think Jacksonville's
going to dominate the Texans. Tennessee is not going to
dominate the Texans. Do I believe Baltimore has that in
I'm sure? Do I believe that the Detroit Lions have
that in them? Yeah? So because of their pace, what
they do, how many different ways they can beat you,
the aggressiveness of the head coach and the coordinator, the
(24:14):
defensive coordinator who gets aftered. They have every element you need.
There's no glaring weakness. Hutchinson's loss was a major. That's
a hurt. Your best defensive player, you lose him, So
what do you do to make up for You Either
got to score more or get two guys or three
guys to play like one. And they went out and
got Zadarius Smith and hopefully for them he brings enough
(24:35):
to at least keep it, keep people honest. So it's
a devastating loss for them. It doesn't weaken them to
the point that they're not still a really good team.
But anytime you take away your best defender at weakens you.
But do I think they're capable? Could you come out
of this game? Could can the Texas beat the trick?
Sure they can? Yeah, but you could you come out
of this game. And when people say, well, anybody's capable
of blown yet, I don't think the majority teams are
(24:56):
capable of blown out the Texans in the league. I
do think there's a couple, and this team's near the
top of the list because they, like I said, if
it's twenty one to three in the fourth quarter, you
should not expect them to back off. That's not how
they play. So you mess around with them. Yeah, they'll
score early off. They can beat you so many different ways,
(25:17):
and the head coach doesn't make the coordinator back off.
When they got to lead, they attack. They're in attack
mode the whole time. Ben Johnson already said, he goes,
I love calling plays, and he said, if I ever
decide or if I am ever fortunate to be a
head coach, he goes, I'll be a play calling head coach.
I will call the plays a head coach because he
loves it. And when you love it like that, it's
(25:39):
built into your DNA of that's what you want to do.
The head coaching things just part of leading the team
and being that guy. His love is calling place right
and he's really good at it. So you go ahead
and turn it over a couple times on your side,
take a few sacks, few three and outs. Your defense
is going to have to play their best football game
this week. It's not one of those where it's like,
(26:01):
oh my gosh, you're telling me, Sean, they should be
too touchdown hunder ducks.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
Not at all.
Speaker 5 (26:04):
Matter of fact, it's a field goal type game at
least points spread. I think two and a half, three
and a half points. But I think you'd be hard
pressed if they both play their best. Detroit's the better
team today. Who knows by the end of the season.
Detroit's a better team right now, regardless of the record.
Detroit's the better team. I just don't want them to see.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Or I just don't want to see a game like
the Texans had against the Vikings. But in the same sense,
they didn't have Joe Mixon. They only rushed for thirty
eight yards in that loss. He destrout, had two interceptions,
and he was sacked four times. They lost thirty four
to seven of the Vikings.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
Well, they're going to have to do more in pass
protection to.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Now.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
I could also see this, you say, Sean, what's more
apt to happen? High scoring take the overgame or the
Texans get blown out.
Speaker 4 (26:54):
I would take the first one.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
Did both teams, even though they both have good defense,
I would say that there's an advantage off offenses can
score on this, but they've got to You're gonna have
to really work to get their quarterback to the ground,
and you're gonna have to really work not to have
your quarterback on the ground. If you're the Texans this week,
they've got it comes down to that. And look at
the look look at Detroit's success since they've had one
(27:18):
of the best offensive lines in the league.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
They just keep winning. Let's see.
Speaker 5 (27:23):
You ever think in your wildest dreams you'd be saying
every year that the Detroit Lions are one of your
Super Bowl favorites or this year your super Bowl favorite.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
They were one of my Super Bowl favorites. That's what
I'm saying. Yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
I mean five We've spent a lot of times like, oh,
it's Detroit again, Detrie. You know that Thanksgiving Day game,
You're like, oh, we got to see Stafford, but the
rest of the team got to watch Detroiting. Now it's
I can't wait to watch It's no longer. Now you
know who it is. I got to watch the Cowboys
on Thanksgiving. Yeah it's not the switch. Yeah, now it's
I can't wait to see the Lions. Let's schedule a
great game the Lions and whoever on Thanksgiving. Now it's oh,
(27:56):
we've got the tradition. We're watching the Cowboys on thanks Eving.
They can't throw it, they can't play. See look, look
look at how that narrative switched. And actually so Philadelphias Farm,
I mean Detroit's.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
Yeah, it's crazy to think back to how many times,
you know, we've seen Detroit and those Plaine ass jerseys
that they date that they usually were on Thanksgiving, like
the plain blue and gray with the plain helmet, slate blue. Yeah,
ass whooped on Thanksgiving YearIn and the out. And then
you watch the Cowboys and it's usually a good game
with whoever they're playing. And now it's like, hell, yeah,
(28:29):
the Lions are playing at eleven am on Thanksgiving, let's go.
That's how we're starting Thanksgiving. And you're like a damn it, Cooper.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
Rut who Cooper Rush. Cooper Rush is our quarterback? Okay,
look and he's gonna get the turkey.
Speaker 5 (28:42):
Leg maybe John Madden, I hold it, turn duck turn ducket.
But you know what's interesting, Back in the day, I
used to live the Redskins and the and they were
the Redskins.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
So that's my reference point.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
Save it for getting all the bitter feelings hurt is
when they were the Redskins. That those Thursday Thanksgiving games
with the Redskins were a great watch. Yeah, maybe it
is okay, but they weren't the Commanders in and that'd
be great, that'd be That'd be misleading for me to
call the nineteen eighty Redskins.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
Well, they weren't the they were not the Commanders. They
were Washington football team. They were the Redskins. They were
If you go up to.
Speaker 5 (29:26):
Darryl Green, who's a Hall of Famer, say man, I
love watching with the Commanders, he'd say, no, I played
for the Redskins.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
It's what a LeVar Arrington he always says. He always
says the Redskins, and that's always best on his radio show.
On the radio shows like dude, what are you doing,
He's like, well, I didn't play for the Commanders. I
played for the Redskins, right, Jim Tome and saying, hey,
man loved you when you were at the Guardians.
Speaker 5 (29:48):
I didn't play for the Indians. It's the same thing,
well in a different way. But if you played for
the Houston Oilers and you played for the Tennessee Titans,
you played for both? Did you play You didn't play
for the Houston and Texans?
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Right?
Speaker 5 (30:01):
Sorry, oh we am when you're with the Texans now,
I didn't play for the Texas. I played for the Oilers.
I played for the Titans. If you're one of those guys, right,
they played for him. So that's neither here nor there
in this. But those old time games the Cowy they
used to I mean, couldn't wait for those games. Now
it's like you got to watch the Cowboys, can't wait
to watch the Washington Commanders with that team and that quarterback,
and can't wait to watch.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
The Detroit Lions. Fanas shift in some of these teams.
Speaker 5 (30:24):
Even the Texans are sixty three team that you quite
frankly can't wait to see if they're protecting their quarterback
because they've got some good pieces. Man, they just got
to still waiting for them to have a complete game
against a really good team on both sides of the ball.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
Nico Collins back yet still still haven't announcet. Huh m
m mmmm.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
We got Nico, we got Miko.
Speaker 5 (30:49):
Right, Yeah, So okay, are you willing to bet that?
It says, would you take the money line and take
the Texans straight up in this if you had to
bet it?
Speaker 4 (30:58):
Are you willing to make that move yet? No? You
think Detroit's too good?
Speaker 1 (31:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (31:04):
Have you seen the offensive line for the Texans protection.
Speaker 5 (31:07):
I've seen their offensive line and I've seen the pass
protection that the Detroit Lions offense gives their guy advantage advantage,
even though it's at home advantage.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
I would I would have more trust in in the
Texans right now if Bobby Slowik would have adjusted his
play calling over the last couple of weeks knowing that
the offensive line has struggled. Bobby Slovak, there you go,
say you are it's at your whole.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
In full kitten kaboodle. No is the you're leaning on?
The offensive line will be the difference one way or
the other. Yes, fair enough.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
If the if the offensive line can protect c. J.
Stroud in the past game the team gets a sack,
who wins the game?
Speaker 4 (31:52):
That's gonna be shootout. Who wins?
Speaker 5 (31:56):
Who's more apt to dominate a shootout right now? Pretty
even though mixing if if Stroud's rolling and all of
a sudden, you get me college back, pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
So if neither team gives up a sack, both offensive
lines play like they're in the Pro Bowl, who wins?
We were asking for that game. What if the Texans
give you that game?
Speaker 4 (32:14):
Then it's still Texans? You think? So? I think the
Texans defense is slightly better? Fair enough? Fair enough? Whose
offense is better? Lions? Ben Johnson's the dude, So it's great,
That's what I'm saying. Better than Bobby.
Speaker 5 (32:28):
If you knew you were gonna get great play fight
both offensive lines, you would take Detroit, take.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
Take take Ben Johnson and Bobby slowyck. And when both
are quote unquote in their bag, it's Ben Johnson. That's
no disrespect to Bobby.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
It's Ben Johnson most every week among all Cordon and
Reid in this league.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
And he's a head coach.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
So yeah, interesting, we'll be talking about with our great
fan base.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
Will continue to talk about the East Houston Texans and
their matchup against the Detroit Lions. Seven one three, two
point two five seven nine and wills to get out
to your phone or get out to the phone lines
and talk to you the Texans fans.
Speaker 4 (33:02):
Next on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
From h Town.
Speaker 6 (33:07):
This is a.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
For h Town. This is Houston six. This is Sports
Talk seven nights. Because right now you see it light
on Houston right now. Back to Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
Why'd you look that way? Just get you to look
over there. You've never looked over there?
Speaker 1 (33:26):
What do you thought there was? Like I actually thought
there was.
Speaker 5 (33:27):
Maybe it was one of the floaters that are going
to live felt like there was a black, black knot
on the wall and I look over there and.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Say, damn you ever had floaters?
Speaker 9 (33:35):
No?
Speaker 5 (33:35):
Huh, man, it comes hopefully they're at the tail end.
I've had him for like eight months now in my
left eye, where like at first started when you see
a flash of lightning, huh honestly got a lightning bolt,
Like what the hell is that?
Speaker 4 (33:46):
So do you think you're like the hydrators?
Speaker 5 (33:49):
And then it's something when you go to the floaters
that it's It can happen at younger age, I'm sure,
but it's like a gel that comes down that eventually
just goes away and you're fine. Since that doesn't hurt,
but it's these floaters. So every now and then I'll
see some black culture, like what is that mosquito doing there?
It's just crazy. And so I saw that black guy.
I glanced over there, like the hell is that doing
the wall? And I look at there. No, Sean, there's
(34:10):
nothing on the walls, just that floater and your left eye.
Now imagine I've been dealing with that for about eight months.
I'll go to the golf course and I don't think, man,
I smoked it. That's sitting in the middle of fair
and I like, no, that was the floater that was
in the middle of the fairway.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
That serious. You cannot believe the it's irritating because you
see it. You know it's a flat And now the
lightning bolts after the first day went away. But these
this floater stuff, it's like, right, well, it's I looked
at it there.
Speaker 5 (34:40):
It's normal for and I'm sure people listening and have
been through them, but like you're just like, you know,
they just float. You'll see you like a little little
black thing. It just comes and it's of floats around
and then goes away. But you'll like me looking like
I can't beget to tell you how many times you say, man,
that's right where it needs to be. No, Sean, it's
actually not. That's the floater in your eye. And it's
been a p And he asked, because your your jut
(35:01):
your depth perception kind of screws. Yeah, that sucks, no
question about it. But yeah, so that's why I was
looking left. I never looked there. No, you don't right,
your creature habit too. Yeah, so what are we looking at?
Let's go to rotten never mind, just kidding.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
Roger hung up, Damn Roger, no patience, dog, Roger, unbelievable, Roger,
no patience man? Oh man, So Thursday night football, obviously
tonight Rockets won last night? Uh, Victor Webbin Yama, hold
that l cuz.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
You put it.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
You put it straight on Victor. He's a bum, that's
what you're calling Victor. Would you like him here playing
for the team?
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Yeah? Why not?
Speaker 4 (35:38):
Okay? I figured I figured.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
Would you yes? But I didn't call him a bum.
I think the guy could play.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
I mean, maybe, you know, maybe emy Udukka will be
able to figure him out. You know, he only had
fifteen points last night.
Speaker 5 (35:52):
Come on, man, so you expect him to hang thirty
every night. Yes, it's not Jordan Doggs. Well he's like
seven foot.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
That's okay. They have bad games too. Ever. You ever
struck out two times in a game?
Speaker 8 (36:03):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (36:03):
Yeah, you're Brian Olima.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Yeah, I've struck out a couple of times before. And
one thing I do pride myself to radio.
Speaker 5 (36:10):
Did the campus radio show the next day? I did,
see you sucked? Say you suck?
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (36:16):
Man, I was a part of the Lobo Lunch Hour
cuz I feel that was my lunch That was my
sports radio show on in uh in college, the Lobo
Lunch Hower.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
Did you say that I sucked today? I did.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
I have to go through the you'd have to go
and we did live shows too, like in the cafeteria.
Oh yeah, in the calf Yeah yeah. We did it
from the second level, so we'd look down over everybody.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
I'd have to go through the results of the game.
And it's like as a box score right foot or
Brian Alma oh for three with two shrikeouts at all?
Not good man.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
You can't get wrung up, I will say, though, I
pride myself on only having one hat trick in my career.
Speaker 5 (36:52):
The trifecta. Yes, it'll get you sometimes, yeah, it'll get you.
And you'll swear you swing right through that ball, swung
right through that swung not a word, swung right through it.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Doc.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
You know there were days where balls look like okay,
hold on, of course they do, especially with the four
ball looks like a beach ball, and you just swing
right through and you just can't make kid, couldn't hit
water if you.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Though out of a boat and it sometimes it looks
like a pe. Yeah, and then you smack it all around,
you know.
Speaker 5 (37:16):
Or you miss it for that? Would you say we
smack the ball? Would you say about now you beat balls?
Speaker 4 (37:22):
I do on the golf course?
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (37:23):
So what did you say about balls? What what you
look like a p And I said smacking you smack
the ball around? Smack balls around? What you were saying
to smack the ball? Okay? Because sometimes there is just
one of them? Do you don't like to go apa
with them too? Sometimes apo talk?
Speaker 5 (37:37):
So you got you had the trifect the Bengo bengo bongle,
good morning, good afternoon, good night. One time and once
that's it. Yeah, it happens free swingers. Man, it'll get you.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
I was definitely a free swinger. You go through your
first pitch fast while I was hacking.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
Yeah, why wouldn't you be?
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Yeah, I didn't let I didn't let you, you know,
give me a behind the counts.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
Yeah, and you didn't put respect on Anama's block at
the rim last night.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
I did you on an attempt to dunk.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
Look, man, why do you know squirrel finds a nut
from time or two?
Speaker 4 (38:06):
The respect, the disrespect you show for Vic, it's unbelievable
to me.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Look, the Spurs are not very good again. Rockets are
five and three by the way, yep, five decent start,
they win. We're already eight games in.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
Hey, mid season tournament, baby, you're writing triple that start?
Speaker 1 (38:24):
When's that next week?
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Because when is that next week? When does that hang
the banner from the rafters tournament start before we get
to Christmas?
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (38:33):
I love it. I thinks next week and nothing like
that tournament. Let's see when is that end season tournament? Huh?
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (38:44):
Yeah, it starts next week. Wait, let's go. I know
you're ready. The tournament opening night November twelfth, got some
big time matchups. You gotta be kidding me. Excited, dude,
and put some respect on it. Man, you don't want
your Lakers to hang another mid season banner?
Speaker 1 (39:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (39:03):
I can't wait. That's the one. I mean, what a
banner to hang?
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (39:07):
What a better what a banger? What a banner?
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Yeah you got that, you got the banners, you got
the bubble banner as well. It just sucks a lot
of banners hanging in La. I'll tell you what, La,
they'll they'll dominate you in COVID years. They did the
Dodgers Laker they will. At least the Dodgers got them
legit and it was full on legit. They kicked ass.
They sure did, no question. But yeah, so let me
(39:31):
ask you this. I'm giving you a wishless. It's kind
of an unfair wishless. Okay, is Bregman for five years
or six years?
Speaker 4 (39:41):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (39:42):
Or the Texans win the division, make the playoffs and
beat Detroit by three touchdowns?
Speaker 4 (39:49):
What's their ass on Sunday night, Let's talk about that
as we get the seven o'clock. How about that? How
you like them teasers? It's good. Let's talk about an
ex sports talk.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
Houston Heard radio. Is the Astros.
Speaker 10 (40:02):
The Rockets, Rockets Basketball, your home for your home teams.
This is Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
Salisbury, Salisbury, Houston.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Sewan Salisbury to USC true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Bengals and Ravens. Also, we're going to talk Astros baseball.
Coming up in the show. Scott Boris spoke to the
media yesterday in regards to Alex Bregman, youse Kakuchi off
season underway free agency. See what the Astros will do
with their roster construction. Also talking about the Houston Texans.
(40:57):
I take on the Lions this Sunday night, big game
for both squads. The Lions arguably one of the best
teams in the NFL. Off to see how the offensive
line performs for the Houston Texans, and Seawan asked what
it was a wish list.
Speaker 4 (41:17):
I gave you. I gave you the You canna have
one of the other Bregman stays for five or six years,
or the Texans get the A to the to the
a FC Championship game. I'm gonna guarantee you they get
the AFC Championship Game. But I can't guarantee you they
get to the Super Bowl. They'll have to do that
(41:38):
on their own.
Speaker 5 (41:40):
So you're guarantee to get the to the AFC Championship Game,
and they're gonna beat Detroit by two and a half
touchdowns on Sunday night, or.
Speaker 4 (41:50):
They're gonna lose in the first round of the playoffs.
But they get Bregman for six years. Yeah, give me
the give me the FC Championship. You will ye over
Bregman for six years. Yeah, wow, Championship they haven't been there.
Speaker 5 (42:03):
Yeah, man, And then you'll take your chance that they're
gonna win the AFC Championship Game, gets gets the Super Bowl.
So all that over over a Breggy Bohm as you
like to call it, over the Alex Bregman. Six years
at twenty seven and a half a year.
Speaker 4 (42:18):
Yep, they can figure it out. That's what you're doing.
Speaker 5 (42:21):
Get to the just this year a FC title game
and beat Detroit by seventeen points.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
Take take Detroit out, take that out, get the AC
Title game.
Speaker 4 (42:32):
Just get to the AFC Title Game.
Speaker 5 (42:33):
Over An said, get to the AFC Title Game, but
you're gonna lose. I mean, you'll still take that over
Bregman for six opportunity to go to the Super Bowl.
Not very fair. I mean not not very often. You
head scratching?
Speaker 4 (42:47):
Yeah, so which one are you taking? Either way?
Speaker 1 (42:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (42:52):
Yes, over Breggy, over Bregg, I don't call him Breggy.
Alex Bregman for six. Yeah, that's what you're going with.
That's how, that's how in what it says, that's how
ingrained you are into the to the fiber.
Speaker 4 (43:06):
Have we seen the Texans being Have we seen the
Texans get to a title game? NOFC title game?
Speaker 3 (43:11):
We haven't, right, So them getting to the AFC title
game would mean that they have a shot to get
to the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (43:17):
Give me that. Hmmm. I wonder if I wonder if
the peeps out there feel the same way. Probably not.
They would probably take Alex Bregman for five or six years.
Speaker 5 (43:25):
But I didn't ask them. I've asked you. Yeah, Now,
if I asked them, what do you think they're gonna say?
Speaker 8 (43:31):
Mmm?
Speaker 4 (43:32):
I would say that they want Bregman for five or
six years. Fair enough. There you go.
Speaker 3 (43:39):
The Astros are at a pivotal moment in their franchise.
In my opinion, Texans win the Super Bowl this year.
M hm, Astros win.
Speaker 4 (43:48):
Two more in a row, two more in a row.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
Starting next year, twenty five, twenty six, Astros win the
World Series. Texans win this super Bowl this year, can
only have one?
Speaker 4 (44:00):
Give me the two?
Speaker 3 (44:00):
Okay, give me the Astros two World Series titles. That
would be four, but by four in the last however
many years because you said two in a row.
Speaker 5 (44:10):
Two that twenty five and twenty six they win two,
they win the world says two years, give me back,
but the Texans win it this year.
Speaker 4 (44:16):
You give me back to back.
Speaker 5 (44:18):
Hey, yeah, you'll give up Bregman just to get to
the AFC Championship Game.
Speaker 4 (44:22):
Yeah, that's all I'm filming this morning. It doesn't really
make sense, does it. Well, we just went through a
little bit of that over the last few days, did we.
It makes sense. So there's where you're at. Yeah, that's
where you're at. We're talking about back to back World
Series titles. That's exactly.
Speaker 3 (44:41):
How often does that happen? Not very exactly, So give
me that, okay, Texas one one. How often does that happen?
It's never happened. And then even got to an AFC title.
Speaker 4 (44:49):
That's why I asked this question.
Speaker 5 (44:50):
That's I said, they both win a World Series next year,
you pick one or the other.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
Only one year.
Speaker 5 (44:56):
You'd take the Texans over the ass because it's never
had they win two in a row. Yeah, give me there,
taking the Astros over the Texans, even though if you
take the Texans it'll be their first one ever.
Speaker 4 (45:05):
Yeah, no, get back to back? Is it make it
makes sense? You can't.
Speaker 5 (45:10):
It's just the back to back even though they've won
a couple World Series already.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
Provocative gets the people going, all right, you ever been
to a parade down on Louisiana Street.
Speaker 4 (45:19):
Uh No, I've been in parades from winning championship, So
you get it. Yeah, I do get it. I do
get the parade. I like the parade. Well, would be
a bigger parade.
Speaker 3 (45:30):
Super Bowl champion Houston Texas one or Houston Astros back
to back World Series.
Speaker 4 (45:34):
After the fourth one would be like this is awesome
or great? That a grade. In twenty twenty two, there
was like I think it's so many people there. Yeah,
they could be huge. They win a super Bowl. It's
different because they haven't one. Where are they gonna do it?
You're gonna go down curry them. Fourteen sixty three. You gonna
go stay in that area off of six ten in Kirby.
Come on, dude, and what a bag of that is?
God throw up?
Speaker 5 (45:56):
So we please fix the eight Can we please make
it conducive to want to go like four hours before
a game and watch games down by the stadium?
Speaker 4 (46:06):
Where do you think it would be? Honestly, at the
same point. It would be near the same route as
it as he Actually they do it downtown. Oh yeah,
they wouldn't do it near the facility. Sure they may
end They probably start there and they have to end there, right,
so that that's a long long man. So you're gonna
go through Kirby, like, yeah, stop at Popados on the
way in. Stop awesome, Papa.
Speaker 5 (46:28):
This problem is there won't be the seats for you
to eat, and there's not like four hundred other restaurants
around there like some some stadiums have. So it would
be they do it downtown for the most part, it's not.
I mean, you don't have to end up now. You
need to end up in the stadiums. So you give
your speeches and all that. But you could do it
at the convey You could do it somewhere.
Speaker 1 (46:47):
I guess. But if it do end up, what do
you do?
Speaker 5 (46:50):
You don't go to the parade and then all of
a sudden, everybody get back in the car and drive
to the finish because when we did ours, we ended
up at the stadium.
Speaker 4 (46:57):
Yeah, but we because it was so cold out.
Speaker 5 (47:00):
Yeah we have outdoor vehicles, were wearing fur coats, right,
and the drink whatever you want. And then they have
to give an I had to give you know, you
have to give you a speech you don't.
Speaker 4 (47:11):
Want to drink to.
Speaker 3 (47:14):
So who get peg? Winnipeg Blue Bombers? Who's the Argonauts.
Speaker 4 (47:23):
Right next to? I Love You emotional?
Speaker 2 (47:30):
You know?
Speaker 4 (47:31):
You give a speech and everybody's pumped up.
Speaker 5 (47:32):
The problem is but the great thing about that is
they had this right next to the stadiums, the hockey
Arena for the Winnipeg Jets.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
So we didn't we finish up? You know, do that?
Speaker 5 (47:41):
Do the parade, finish up at the stadium, go and
give an indoor speech in the in the arena arena,
which was fine. Which you don't have the luxury here
unless you did it like Toyota Center, which you could.
It's not that big a deal. What arena you're doing
it that some do it outside, you know, like when
the when the Lakers win, they don't do it. I mean,
I guess they celebrations just outside the Staples Center, but
(48:02):
they don't, you know, if it's rain and I guess
they do it inside. So I'm not sure the facility
matters unless you want you to go out to Kurt.
I guess you would go out to depend on how
many people are there. You do it at the Kurt
at the n RG, but that's not exactly the way
the parade route there.
Speaker 4 (48:17):
You want jungle. Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (48:19):
Man.
Speaker 4 (48:20):
So you're telling me you're taking two Super Bowls over
one super Bowl? Yes, two in a row.
Speaker 5 (48:27):
If I gave you back to back even though they
won a couple, And what if I said that, If
you take that, the Texans are guaranteed not.
Speaker 4 (48:34):
To win one for minimum of a decade. Do you
just keep putting parameters? I want to know how deep
you're going to go with these Texans.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Well, I mean, I'm already used to the Texans not
winning playoff games anyway, So let's.
Speaker 4 (48:44):
Just keep going. You're still going with the Astros.
Speaker 3 (48:47):
Offishly for us here at Sports Talk seven ninety since
we're the home of the Astros. Damn Ryan, give me
all the Astros success.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (48:53):
But also I love the great football talk right here too. Yeah,
well that does. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (48:57):
I mean you're going to get the best Texans football
talk here anyways right now.
Speaker 4 (49:01):
So that's that's where you're going with this. It's the
two in a row. Yeah, back to that insane all right. Yeah,
let's get to the stake out next.
Speaker 5 (49:08):
Well, let's get the Country Boys Roofing. Now it's some
weather rain. Hey, the weard Tarrell tear that roof up.
Country Boys Roofing will fix that roof you want it,
you know, the estimate without price gouging. Well, then call
Country Boys Roofing, my guy John. Love them locally, own
and operated. They're not going to give you a job
(49:28):
and say, ah, it's too small for us. We're bigger
than that. Well no they care and oh that job's
way too big for us, we're not good enough. Now
that's not the case. No job too large is too small.
They get her done. They're going to help you and
navigate the insurance claim. Country Boy's Roofings full service when
it comes is on your full roof. And they're not
going to allow anybody to price gouge it from their
company one thousand dollars discount if you mentioned my name now,
(49:51):
less of course your military. If you're an educator or
a first responder, we're gonna add five hundred dollars on that.
And that's one thousand and five one hundred dollars discount
on the full roof for you. So one or the other.
You can't do both where you get twenty five hundred,
but one of the other gives you a hell of
a discount without price cousy in a time when you
need it because if storm hits, man, you're an urgent
(50:12):
to protect your family and keep you safe and protect
your the inside of your home with a better roof.
If you're getting trying to get out in front of it,
well you're trying to prevent it. Because of the wear
and tear from twenty years or maybe a storm had
done it. You haven't got it fully fixed. Country Boys
Roofings right there for you again, locally owned and operated.
Give them a call for that free review. And again,
those insurance claims suck, but they'll help you navigate him

Speaker 4 (51:31):
Start for the steak out here on the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 3 (51:34):
Sean Brown and Tripoli Rockets beat the Spurs last night
at the Toyota Center one twenty seven to one hundred.
There's Anna Football, Bengals and Ravens Tonight seven one three
two one two five seven ninety is the number to join.
Speaker 4 (51:46):
Let's get out to the phone lines. Roger, welcome in.
Speaker 1 (51:50):
Good morning fellas.
Speaker 11 (51:52):
I just have a I just have a quick thought,
real quick. You know, you know Jamika Ryan's you know
for all the for all our you know, for all
of our uh you know, flaws and and offensive line
and and you know stuff like that, and we don't
measure up to the Lions quite the way they're playing
right now. That's you know that the NFL has changing
(52:14):
in the blink of an eye. You know, we can
change that narrative with one good game. And you know
Jared Golf is not the fleet at the foot. You
know you can, you can, you can do some things
against Jared Golf to make him uncomfortable if you know,
if things are done properly and scream correctly. So I think,
you know, Demico Rice has got plenty of time to
make this happen and make this game. You know, I
(52:37):
don't even want to say competitive. You know, I'm outright
win and kick these dudes and you know, bunch these
guys in the teeth and you know they're in our
house or we're playing here, correct, Yes, yeah, yeah, you
know you want to make that pressure failed. You want
to let it be known that you know, you know,
just because we got you know, some injuries up front,
and you know, we might have a whole compliment of players.
(52:59):
We can win this thing. Man, I mean, I don't understand.
I mean, and it's something something Vegas knows something we don't.
It's only a three point game, So I'm just saying
I've just said this, you know, don't be shocked, and
we're take to go out there, you know, whip that ass.
But but that's one thing to say, nothing to do
because uh, you know, I I really want these guys
(53:20):
to get out of this funk and and the week
out these close games and I probably can't win a
blowout game against a lot but we can dance. Youre
win the game. And that's all I had. Man, I
really do wish do get some get some trade of
value for Brian Pressey though, that's something's got.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
To happen, all right, have a go.
Speaker 4 (53:37):
Appreciate it, Roger.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
Yeah, for the Texans to get out of this funk,
especially with that offensive line struggling, it's gonna be a
tough task against the Detroit Lions. And also he mentioned
Ryan Presley. Uh, there is a report out that the
Astros could be looking to move him.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
We'll talk about that later on.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
I'm okay with that.
Speaker 5 (53:52):
If he wants to get back to a closs role
and you get the right value for him, you.
Speaker 4 (53:56):
Can get some value for him. Sure do it.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (53:58):
Tommy, welcome in.
Speaker 12 (54:01):
Good morning fellas. How are you today?
Speaker 4 (54:02):
We're good man. What's on your mind?
Speaker 2 (54:04):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (54:05):
So, I'm Bryan. I'm here to help you.
Speaker 4 (54:09):
What you got?
Speaker 12 (54:12):
That's just fan, I've got to see.
Speaker 3 (54:14):
Hey, Tripley, can you let him know we got a
little bad connection on that end. We'll try to get
him fire back up brand Brandon, good morning.
Speaker 12 (54:21):
Good morning, Brian, Good morning, Chean. How are you guys?
Speaker 4 (54:24):
Fantastic? What's on your mind?
Speaker 1 (54:25):
Brandon? Happy?
Speaker 4 (54:28):
Happy Thursday? What you got? I'm ready for the I'm
gonna talk about Bragman.
Speaker 1 (54:35):
Is Brigan going anywhere?
Speaker 4 (54:37):
We don't know, Brandon, Brandon? What you got?
Speaker 8 (54:42):
Man?
Speaker 4 (54:42):
Hello?
Speaker 3 (54:45):
All right, we're gonna continue on. Not sure what happened
on the phone lines there? All right, let's see. Uh
we'll talk to Tommy. Tommy, good morning?
Speaker 6 (54:52):
All right?
Speaker 12 (54:53):
Is that better?
Speaker 4 (54:53):
Yes, sir, there we go. We got you. So you're
here to help me.
Speaker 12 (54:56):
Last we heard, I'm here to help you as a
Yankees and I know you love the I know you
love blameing Yankees, but no, So I've seen consecutive World
Series and I've also seen my favorite football team, the Giants,
win the Super Bowl. And I'm gonna tell you between
the two, the Giants Super Bowl was that much sweeter.
(55:19):
I'm gonna tell you what, for two reasons. It's so
hard to get to that top of that of that mountain, right,
It's hard to get to the World Series too, don't
get me wrong, but that one is just that much sweeter.
And when the Giants beat the Patriots in two thousand
and seven, I you know, the fans will like rabid dogs.
(55:40):
I mean, just so overwhelmed with joy versus you know.
And don't get me wrong, there's you know, there's split
between football teams, you know, in New York. But the
two thousand and seven Super Bowl just felt so good
for US Giants fans and more than so than the
Yankees fans. That's just my personal opinion, and I'm sure
some mothers will tell you different. Now, I have a
(56:00):
deal with my son because he's a Jets fan. Poor kid, right,
So the deal with my son is, if the Jets
ever make it to the Super Bowl, I gotta take him.
So I think I'm in good shape. What do you
guys think?
Speaker 4 (56:13):
Well, yeah, I think so.
Speaker 1 (56:15):
Man.
Speaker 4 (56:15):
Hey, let me ask you a question, Tommy, for.
Speaker 3 (56:19):
The Giants to win that Super Bowl, do you think
it would have been just as sweet if they would
have beat another team? Or is it that much sweeter
because it was Tom Brady and the Patriots.
Speaker 12 (56:28):
I think it was that much sweeter because it was
Tom Brady. Excuse me, Tom Brady and at the time
he undefeated Patriots as a wild card, and you know,
it was kind of it was like we were watching
it all on rauh, you know, all on ravel all season,
and then the last game of the season we watched
the Giants almost beat the Patriots that last game, which
(56:50):
made everything just that much sweeter. So that's a great question, Brian.
I do think it was that much sweeter because of
all of that, because it's one thing, it's one memory
that is etched in my mind and they'll stay there
for the rest of my life. And then we did
it again in twenty eleven, which was even even more
fun because now we could claim ownership over the beatable Patriots.
Speaker 5 (57:11):
And Tommy in the in the two thousand and six
season two thousand and seven Super Bowl, didn't the Giants
lose their first two games, gave up almost ninety points
and then go either seven and one or eight and
zero on the road, as you mentioned, got in as
a wild card and then win won a Super Bowl
and rushed for during the Super Bowl, and that defensive
(57:32):
front obliterated that undefeated season. And guess who was the
defensive coordinator Steve Spagnola.
Speaker 8 (57:38):
I was, yeah, who I love, by the way, right.
Speaker 5 (57:41):
Exactly, he's doing it in Kansas City. So yeah, so
I think they were. They gave up like eighty eight
or ninety points. The first two games were zero to two.
Speaker 4 (57:48):
They lost forty five to thirty five, and then thirty
five thirteen.
Speaker 5 (57:51):
Or there you go, So forty five and third, that's
eighty points. And then I believe they were, if not undefeated,
seven and one on the road that year and went
on the wild card and won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (58:00):
Yeah, beat an undefeated team.
Speaker 12 (58:02):
So picked for anything, they weren't picked and and I
think they even went into Green Bay that season when
it was like minus four beat them on the home turf.
I can't remember if it was Dallas they beat that year.
As well.
Speaker 4 (58:16):
They did.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
They beat Tommy, they beat Tampa Bay at Tampa Bay,
at Dallas at Green Bay, and then of course the
Patriots that was their playoffs.
Speaker 12 (58:25):
Yeah, so that whole run, like I said, it was
just I mean, we were just elated and what even
made it even better? And then I'm just gonna add
a little baseball was this was right after the Red Sox.
Speaker 1 (58:36):
Sweat zero three zero, So it was kind of.
Speaker 12 (58:41):
Like yesterday in the polls, you know, the comeback it was.
It was redemption for us.
Speaker 4 (58:49):
Love it.
Speaker 3 (58:50):
Appreciate that inside Tommy, because I haven't been around for
a Super Bowl, couldn't tell you what that's like.
Speaker 4 (58:54):
We appreciate the inside.
Speaker 12 (58:56):
I hope you guys win one.
Speaker 8 (58:58):
I really do ye and.
Speaker 3 (58:59):
Good luck to your out to your son on that
Jets bed. Not sure if it's going to happen. I
think I appreciate Tommy.
Speaker 4 (59:06):
Thanks buddy. Let's get to break in. Dimiko.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
Ryan spoke to the media yesterday about the details and
how they're losing on third down.
Speaker 4 (59:14):
That's next for.
Speaker 1 (59:18):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 3 (59:22):
You know you mentioned, uh, I know this is random,
but you mentioned humidity today.
Speaker 4 (59:28):
Yeah, I was hippy in the face and I walked
out the crib. She was my own love lady like that,
and I said, ah, it's.
Speaker 5 (59:37):
You, and you know we did. We laughed for a
moment and I said I never knew did you like me?
Part of the.
Speaker 4 (59:47):
Yeah? But let me get back to do you think
can you imagine like you're in the locker room getting
ready for the game and he's got the Oxford or
this week that Texas I mean Stroud just bang into this. Yeah,
his headset on right, got his beats on pause. Yeah,
he's banging to that. Huh yeah, but it's a banger
yeah right, So I mean it's going on and this
is this is it, and the fellas are like, man,
(01:00:09):
what do you listen to me? Hear that cut? He
hands over the hands and.
Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
Beats to it.
Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
And if you like me to clod I'm trying to
think like Kelsey probably listens not how do you think.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
What you're not saying, Jason Kelsey probably listens to that.
You think he does pre game Travis or Jason Jason
Travis probably listening to his freaking girlfriend Swifty.
Speaker 1 (01:00:31):
Do you think he's a swifty?
Speaker 4 (01:00:32):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (01:00:33):
So if you like Penut Claude and so Stroud's I'm
talking about that's his jam?
Speaker 4 (01:00:37):
No, And all of a sudden walks up and mix
and says, check that out, though, what do you got?
Speaker 1 (01:00:42):
Oh you love it?
Speaker 4 (01:00:42):
Man, and all this says and then we left a
moment and mixings like this is my jam?
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
Dog.
Speaker 4 (01:00:49):
The next thing I doubt that happens is that anybody
in the history of professional sports is that their jam
that they get humped up for a game. Maybe some punters.
Do you think anybody's ever said and I love my
Jam's awesome? It's like, do you like Penia Colada is
getting lost in the rain? What's the Sebastian Janakowski probably
(01:01:10):
jams at now.
Speaker 5 (01:01:12):
I think Janetkowski was a headbanger, hard rock, Oh, big
time drinking, drinking a little how's this for a little sugar?
Speaker 4 (01:01:20):
How's this for?
Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
You know?
Speaker 5 (01:01:21):
Telling a guy, you know what do we call it?
Just telling him who he who he is? He's he's
was any Russian?
Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
That background dud. You have vodka before you're drinking choice,
you know what I'm saying? Like, he's like, no cocaine,
but boy could he kick man? You could?
Speaker 5 (01:01:38):
I don't think Sea bass was gonna have Penia Colada as.
Speaker 4 (01:01:41):
His cut probably finally, Yeah, damned right, I doubt, I doubt.
I think I could be jam. No, and he goes
and toes for four hundred. Can you imagine if that
was your jam that got you pumped up? No? I couldn't.
Speaker 6 (01:01:59):
That thing.
Speaker 4 (01:02:00):
That thing does not motivate me.
Speaker 5 (01:02:01):
All of a sudden, Jalen Green's yell going up and
down and during warm ups and like just rising a budget,
I mean he's in it and head Bob and all
of a sudden, I mean he wants to introduce him
to uh, you know, Shine Good, Shane Good wants to
know what the cut is.
Speaker 4 (01:02:15):
He's got Pina Colada on there. Man could take you
to new level.
Speaker 5 (01:02:19):
There's no way, no waiting. You hear Neil Divond or
Barry Manilo on this day. But that'll de'll take you places. Man,
I'm telling you that right now.
Speaker 4 (01:02:30):
That'll that'll get you a thirty point double double. Oh yeah,
maybe may give you triple double. You make you may
dole out eleven dimes after listening to Barry Manilon your lap,
damn bred Mandy, I doubt it.
Speaker 5 (01:02:44):
Well, how about I write the songs that a great song,
Barry Manilo to triple, You'll get that for you coming back.
Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
I write the songs by Barry Manilow. Yeah, trip, You'll
get that for you coming back.
Speaker 5 (01:02:56):
You'll really you'll, you'll, you might break it down in tears,
you might shed a tear.
Speaker 4 (01:03:01):
Is it like a soft song? Well, didn't know what
today is?
Speaker 1 (01:03:04):
Thursday?
Speaker 4 (01:03:06):
Yeah, that's what That's what you wanted today. So we're
giving it to you.
Speaker 5 (01:03:08):
Neil Diamond, Barry Manilows, all that stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:03:12):
But is an actual like Randy, You're gonna listen, Okay,
the executive decision. Okay from b man So they call
him man I.
Speaker 3 (01:03:23):
Manny, give us Manny man alone. From Manny, Barry Manilo,
you grew up my time. Let's hear from Dimico.
Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
Ryans.
Speaker 3 (01:03:34):
He spoke to the media yesterday, talked about the details,
getting in the details, and also some third down struggles.
Speaker 4 (01:03:41):
This is a coach, Ryan's.
Speaker 13 (01:03:43):
Yeah, man, We've been in every game we talked about.
We've been in the games. We just you know, people,
I guess it's this narrative like we just not not
a good team.
Speaker 4 (01:03:53):
But we've been in games. We just haven't made the.
Speaker 13 (01:03:56):
Plays that it's not from a matter of and no
effort and those things. It's a matter of being on
the details. And that's what the league is about. The
team who are on the details, especially in those critical moments.
Talk about third down, red zone like a situational ball.
When you're when you're on it and you're able to
make those plays, you that's winning football.
Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
Right.
Speaker 13 (01:04:18):
We've been on the back end, and then when we
haven't won games, we haven't played well on third down,
we haven't played well in the.
Speaker 4 (01:04:25):
Red zone offensively and defensively.
Speaker 13 (01:04:27):
So when you win those situations, you put yourself in
a good spot to win games. So when I talk
about executing and playing well, it's executing in those critical moments.
Speaker 4 (01:04:36):
It's what we haven't done when we've lost game.
Speaker 5 (01:04:39):
And this is a team that will be one of
the better teams when you get down there. I mean,
they score I don't know what they're where they're ranked
offensively in the red zone, but they they they score points.
This team comes this team comes away with points on
a regular basis, and you're gonna have and and Demiko
knows this, You're gonn have to play your best game.
But listen, you live, how well are you under pressure?
(01:05:01):
How good are you on third down? Both sides of
the ball? Can you get off the field? I'm big
on first down? How many what do you give us?
How many yards can you get on first down? And
then what do you do in the red zone? You
come away with field goals or you score touchdowns? And
there's really about now. You want to win all the categories.
But if you can dominate four or five of those
or be in the upper part the winning side of
(01:05:22):
four or five of those categories each week, you'll.
Speaker 4 (01:05:24):
Win a lot of games.
Speaker 3 (01:05:26):
Let's see, I'm going to look up the red zone
scoring percentage for the Houston Texans touchdown only. They're number
fifteen in the league at fifty six point sixty seven percentag.
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
Yeah, where's Detroit? Detroit number eight sixty three point six one.
Speaker 5 (01:05:43):
And I guarantee you they probably think they're not high enough,
that eight's not good enough. And then defensively, you know
who gets off the field and forces those very field
goals as opposed to giving up touchdown percentage. So you
gotta be good on third down, you got to win
on first down, you gotta be good in the red zone,
and you've got to be good under pressure, like late
(01:06:04):
in the first half, and you gotta be good under
pressure late in the game and close them out. You
got to learn how to close it out and play
under duress. You can do those things. Your team's going
to be in every game.
Speaker 4 (01:06:14):
And then I'm gonna get some third down.
Speaker 5 (01:06:16):
And obviously, don't turn the football over. You don't turn
it over, you'll it doesn't matter if you're person if
you don't turn it over your personnel you'll give. You'll
give yourself a shot to at least be in it
most of the time, regardless of who you're playing.
Speaker 3 (01:06:29):
Where do you think the Texans are third down percent offensively?
Speaker 4 (01:06:34):
Offensively? Is it a distance or just overall third down?
Just overall third down third down conversion percent In the twenties,
they are number sixteen at thirty eight point four percent.
The Detroit enough just not good enough for their personnel.
There you go, Detroit Lions at number seven.
Speaker 5 (01:06:50):
Which means the Lions and what getting a couple extra
series a game because of it?
Speaker 4 (01:06:55):
Not good enough?
Speaker 5 (01:06:56):
Man, No, then they're better than that, Yeah, but it
is not good And that's why I think his disappoint
I'm saying, we've gotta be better in the red zone
on both sides, because he knows the ability between the
twenties of how good the team can be. But you
can't you're playing teams like Detroit. Four field goals usually
doesn't win. Even though you love your kicker to get points.
He always told to get points. But if you're scoring
points and they're scoring touch you're kicking field goals, they're
(01:07:17):
scoring touchdowns, that's a that's a bad trade off.
Speaker 4 (01:07:19):
Yeah, don't want that.
Speaker 3 (01:07:20):
You think there's any correlation between third down efficiency and
the red thread zone?
Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
I do? I do?
Speaker 5 (01:07:28):
And now defense has sometimes changed. It used to be
when you got in the red zone that flashing neon.
Coaches will always say when you cross the thirty, Yeah,
you be prepared for something different. Be prepared for something different,
and that different usually met all out pressure. Try to
get you to sack, to take a sack, get you
out a field goal range. That used to be the
old school philosophy, breight pressure, pressure, pressure pressure.
Speaker 4 (01:07:50):
Now go down there. Watch they may show you some
some man they're playing more zone to force you to
be patient and throw it into windows of tight windows.
And like if you're at the ten, you watch teams
they're lining up four a cross on the goal line
and making you throw it over the top. Well, there's
no race to throw it over the top because there's
no room. So they're making you complete balls and run
(01:08:12):
after the catch in front of them. So it's no
longer hey, flashing downs, alert, blitz, we cross the thirty.
Now some coordinators will be like that, but it's gotten
to the point now a lot of them are playing
more zone. I don't know what the stats say, but
in the they've played more zone to make you really
earn it. The hard wingle three yards, five ripes, because
most think you'll try to force balls and they can
get turnovers that way. Or man, I got my best
(01:08:34):
guy on your non best guy. Good quarterbacks, you'll usually
find that mismatch.
Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
Let's look at the Texans and their second half struggles
scoring points and touchdowns. Let's look at that next right

Speaker 4 (01:10:21):
Let's let's be real here. Well put put a lot
of money in his bank account over the You good
for him, But who the hell is listening to this
BM dog Barry Manilow from my ass to sleep. That's
what soft rock usually does. My goodness, here you go.
I don't ruin ruin a split for you. Let's ask Adrian.
Adrian probably listening to Barry madelon right now. I've got
(01:10:41):
a big old fatty Adrian. What's happening?
Speaker 1 (01:10:44):
Well, if you like ping co lot, there you go.
Speaker 4 (01:10:48):
See that was horrible.
Speaker 14 (01:10:49):
That is horrible.
Speaker 5 (01:10:51):
Most Hey, if you're looking for energy, soft rock days
not the day get you in your fields. Maybe cop
a feel you never don't you know what I'm saying,
feel me, don't.
Speaker 14 (01:11:00):
I gotta go, I gotta go read light bolif Lord,
I put it out to make this phone call.
Speaker 9 (01:11:09):
I was doing fine.
Speaker 14 (01:11:10):
I wasn't gonna call until Monday after the football game.
But I was listening to Adam and Adam yesterday and
I had to flush my ears out a couple of
times because I know Nick Cassario didn't come on the
airwaves of Houston and tell us that, oh trade deadline.
It's it's wishy washy.
Speaker 4 (01:11:32):
Excuse me.
Speaker 14 (01:11:34):
You have a franchise quarterback back there? Do you not
know what a franchise quarterback looks like? You did watch Thomas,
didn't you? And then I remember, wait a minute, he
was over here. He was in New England when they
put this mess together.
Speaker 6 (01:11:52):
We see on the field.
Speaker 14 (01:11:54):
So uh, Nick, the car starting the beard of the
left brother, you might want to get back in your
because if not, Detroit's gonna put our quarterback on the ground,
and you better pray to God he gets up.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
Time to take the can't shopping.
Speaker 8 (01:12:11):
Papa's off this week.
Speaker 14 (01:12:13):
Works slowing down, so it's time to get another job
doing what us Americans do they play the rest of
the hill y'all already know.
Speaker 4 (01:12:21):
Hey see letter Edrian appreciate it. Thanks you.
Speaker 5 (01:12:26):
Yeah, the only and he's he's one hundred percent correct.
The problem is is how do you find that lineman
if nobody has somebody they want to trade. Yeah, that's
a hard part about that position is trying to find
a starter that's legit for you, that.
Speaker 4 (01:12:49):
That you can trade for.
Speaker 5 (01:12:51):
I would imagine if they had the right deal into it,
but I understand what he's saying and if it wishy washing.
You want to protect your quarterback, but trying to find
a somebody who's willing to deal with you, it's tough
to do. That position is so hard to replace.
Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
In season. You look for depth, but rarely are you getting.
Speaker 5 (01:13:09):
Like when Dwayne Brown held out and they shipped them
to Seattle, remember that that that doesn't happen. Or Trent
Williams when he was in where was Trent Washington and
held out, finally got there and right and then got
you know, shipped and now he's in San Francisco, got
his got his money. But it's not that's not a
normal occurrence to get a guy like that, and it
usually costs a lot, and with Adrian's talk to what happens?
(01:13:35):
You know how you look at teams and say they
can overcome, like Detroit's gonna overcome Hutch. I don't know
if they're gonna win a super Bowl, but they're still
rolling and he's a big part of it. But there
they've they've stepped up and tried to help themselves through
this draft.
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
What happens if and this is no disrespect to Mills,
but isn't this a completely different team without Strout?
Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
They have not going to be successful. They could run
the football all they want, but you don't have shroud
back there the consistent ability to throw it right. Yeah,
I don't There comes a point in time when they're
at the stage now where there's got to be some
nasty and the ego and probably got to fit into this. Yeah,
(01:14:15):
as an offensive Honestly, it just does when you've had enough.
I keep saying it, but I gotta see it. I'd
love no hit, you know, the pressures, Yeah, but his
jersey's cleaned the whole game. Watch the difference it'll make.
And it's not just the offense.
Speaker 5 (01:14:31):
We put it on that because that's the that's the
easy and at times can be the lazy way to
blame the Texans right now, they're still six and three,
I get it, but that can be the See the
difference is Kansas City hasn't looked great offense, but they
had some moments, right. The difference is they found ways
to win those games against good teams. The Texans have
found a way when they're not playing their best to
(01:14:52):
lose those games against a couple of good teams. Who
is their third loss against who if they lost the
third time?
Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
They lost the Vikings Vikings and Packers Packers, They lost
the Jets Jets.
Speaker 5 (01:15:03):
Right, who were expected to be that was on the
road against New York team who quite frankly played their
most their best all around game, right. So, and the
quarterback play on all three of those. We know Rogers
is a Hall of Famer. He hadn't played great this year.
But Jordan Love and Sam Darnold have had good start,
you know, midway point they both have pretty good seasons, right, and.
Speaker 4 (01:15:21):
They did their thing with Josh Allen.
Speaker 5 (01:15:23):
So the ability to to find ways and they did
last year, can they can they can they refine that
in their own locker room because to me, you get
down to the point where said you over coach the
technique or something. It's it's gonna come down to you,
can you block the guy? And do you have an attitude?
Because how many times do you see and I don't
disrespect somebody who's hurt and can you grieve it get
(01:15:45):
walked back into the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:15:46):
Too many times?
Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
It's got to change, right, Yeah? Have they got to
adjust on the offensive line and it could be an
attitude thing. Man, come in with the nasty attitude that
we've talked about.
Speaker 5 (01:15:57):
In an attitude and change what you're saying. Good word
to attitude, Yeah, really good?
Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
Good?
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
Yeah, good sat Ward of the day. Hey, let's look
at the offense for the Texans in the second half.
It has not been good and it's more than just
the offensive line. We'll discuss that next seven one, three, two, two, five,
seven ninety. Will also continue to take your calls. This
is getting the eight o'clock hour right here on the
Shawn Salisbury Show.

point thirty. MLB insider John Hayman has some thoughts on
Alex potentially coming back to the Houston Astro. Scott Boris
also spoke to the media Chandler Rome with a report
on you say Kakoochi's free agency was also with Scott
bors So we got a lot to get into with
free agency for the shows that's coming up at eight
(01:17:15):
thirty seven three two on two five seven ninety is
the number to join us.

Speaker 1 (01:17:53):
The deal, don't okay that?
Speaker 4 (01:17:56):
And what year was that?
Speaker 1 (01:17:58):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (01:17:59):
You know, hey, seventies, early eighties. You know, Sean, Sean
was probably playing a little beach Boys music on the
way back.
Speaker 6 (01:18:05):
But you know I was playing.
Speaker 4 (01:18:08):
Here's what I told them, I am the music. I
am your music or.
Speaker 8 (01:18:14):
You in backyard day you take them to piano bar
Ward to be playing Barry manimual easily?
Speaker 1 (01:18:20):
Am I right?
Speaker 8 (01:18:21):
Sean?
Speaker 4 (01:18:22):
Well maybe your piano ball now now he verry Man
Alotte presents. When you had a rom com in the
movie theater where you cough and put your arm around
the round her back, you know you know that there
you and maybe you're sitting there and all of a
sudden hand goes to knee. You know what I'm saying?
That another feeling Barry Man. She's interfeling you guys getting
(01:18:45):
ready for something, Sadie Hawkins dance and stuff.
Speaker 8 (01:18:48):
There you go and your perved as he put a
hole in the bottom of the pop corner.
Speaker 5 (01:18:52):
But well, guess what I never had. I never had
those perv days. But hey, you tell us about it there,
buddy it and we don't want to hear about any
extra butter in your popcorn. Get off my airway.
Speaker 4 (01:19:07):
But he played the cut a hole in the bottom
of the popcorn pee wee herman, Oh god, oh, how'd
that get in there? Watson? No, no, no, I was
afraid of No, like I got a French kiss him?
What how'd that get in there?
Speaker 8 (01:19:25):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:19:26):
No thanks. Drink a beer with Gil just to see
how demented he really is.
Speaker 3 (01:19:31):
I really I would love to do that. Ye love
not out in college station. No college stations good place
to go, man, I'm not going.
Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
There with Gil. Gil just that's just that's just chatter.
I don't think Gill's ever had. It's just it's just
good banter for the show.
Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
Like bil Gill put his hog through a popcorn container
back in the day. Guarantee guaranteed.
Speaker 4 (01:19:54):
Dude, it's eight o'clock. Did you just say put his
hog to a popcorn contained? That's what he said? What
is wrong with I hope you guys are having great
gulash for breakfast? I mean, what's wrong with you?
Speaker 1 (01:20:07):

Speaker 4 (01:20:09):
Gracious? Grab yourself a cup of coffee.
Speaker 1 (01:20:10):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:20:11):
I like Gilbert Gil's good people. He wasn't playing Barry
Mantl on a regular basis or more rock seventies rock
probably Yeah, I can see that, yeah, yeah, mixing in
that they want to love where he's slow dance, you know,
on the slow dance. Gary Mannle plays the slow dance
at the high school dance. His song comes on, You're out,
(01:20:32):
you're dancing it because it maybe take a little you know,
you depend on what the three minute vers the hot
girl your dancing because your little nervous to dance fast
as your buddies are giving yard time. But the slow dancer,
you know, that's the.
Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
High school dude soft freshman sophomore year when Strawberry Wine
came on.
Speaker 4 (01:20:48):
Or I hope you dance Stairway to Heaven. Dream weaver yep,
their way to have him tripley come back with a
dream weaver. Oh, Gary Wright, dream weaver, dream weaver.
Speaker 11 (01:21:00):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (01:21:00):
That'll take it, that'll take you the place you ain't
ever been. You really will seven seven ninety will thanks
for holding good morning.
Speaker 1 (01:21:11):
Good morning, guys.
Speaker 15 (01:21:12):
So I'm gonna say, first off, one reason why I
love listening to you guys because for some reason, it's
eight o'clock in the morning and we're having pee wee
Herman references.
Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
She played the caller on that one.
Speaker 4 (01:21:25):
You played Gill on that one. Maybe it's just a products.
It's just the product of the environment.
Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
Who you hang around.
Speaker 5 (01:21:31):
He hags around us. We'll take the blame for that.
Nobody said we wore jackasses, correct, but that that's that's
all on Will all the time.
Speaker 4 (01:21:39):
I mean, not on Will, but that's all on Gill.
Speaker 15 (01:21:41):
Yeah, and people don't change, you'all said back in the day.
I'm pretty sure he's.
Speaker 4 (01:21:45):
Still doing it. No, back back in the back in
the days, Will is one other per correct, back in
the day, beats Yester, Yes, through all of us all, dude,
back in the day when I listened to that, you're thinking, dude,
I hammered one with that last night. What are you
(01:22:06):
talking about?
Speaker 15 (01:22:08):
Make sure you don't make sure you don't sit next
to Gill watching.
Speaker 4 (01:22:14):
Here's where you don't want to sit next to Gil
is on the log version of what's that guy with that?
That that ugly looking dude on the the Lord of
the Rings when comes on and Gills like.
Speaker 1 (01:22:30):
That's Will.
Speaker 4 (01:22:31):
Yeah, good to talk about sports. Yeah, so back, yeah,
I know, back in the day, will I got you.
Speaker 12 (01:22:41):
A couple.
Speaker 15 (01:22:41):
So yesterday you guys were talking about nicknames.
Speaker 1 (01:22:43):
For Christian Walker.
Speaker 15 (01:22:44):
I called in, talked Tripoli and said, uh, Christian Skywalker because.
Speaker 1 (01:22:49):
You know it goes with the outer space theme. Also,
you know we do like the May the Fourth be
with You themes. That'd be cool.
Speaker 4 (01:22:56):
Yes, Skywalker, that's not that's say it works last Skywalker,
Kenny Skywalker, the NBA player.
Speaker 1 (01:23:01):
There you go, I'll take that. That's worth it. Yeah.
Speaker 15 (01:23:04):
So and then also y'all we're talking about like the
super Bowl or back to back World Series. I'm you know,
I'd go with the back to back World Series because
that would put us at four there. That would make
us like the top twenty five percent of teams with
you know, the most world series under their belt, and
that means we would have four since the last time
the Yankees won one. I don't always like referring to
(01:23:24):
the Yankees, but you know, it's what have you done
for me lately?
Speaker 1 (01:23:27):
And with uh.
Speaker 4 (01:23:32):
So the Bregman thing, I'm I would love.
Speaker 1 (01:23:36):
To I'd rather have the six.
Speaker 15 (01:23:39):
Years instead of but Texans going to what'd you say
the Yeah, yeah, because I mean that's a long term
deal Texans. You don't know if we'd get there and
then but you know, bragman, we'd have him for at
least six years. You don't know what could happen from then.
So I'm kind of here just for the long term
thing instead of just to plus you don't know what's
(01:24:00):
gonna happen. But also, Sean, didn't you say that they
go to the a f C Championship but they lose.
Speaker 5 (01:24:05):
No, I said, they go to the AFC Championship game,
but we can't. You don't get the guarantee they're gonna
win to get to the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (01:24:12):
Yeah, so I mean, I'd rather have the guarantee. But
if I guarantee, but I guarantee, Kate, let me, I
guarantee you two World Series wins. You said, yes over
one Texans super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:24:22):
Yeah, for sure. That's fair. It's fair. But uh, that's
about it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
Man.
Speaker 15 (01:24:27):
It was just kind of running through my head while
driving and then y'all distracting me a little bit.
Speaker 4 (01:24:31):
But you mean you mean, Gil, there you go, thank
you will Will Classic what a great line. Back of
the day, beads.
Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
It's still happening.
Speaker 4 (01:24:42):
A little classic. Let's real quick before we get a break. Tray,
Good morning, Yes, hey, how you doing this morning?
Speaker 1 (01:24:49):
Good?
Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
Hey.
Speaker 16 (01:24:51):
The rest thing I'm calling is that, you know, last
week less game, the Texas played US head eight sext.
Speaker 17 (01:25:00):
Quarterback said, now with Detroit, if the Texans haven't done
anything about the old line, I think, uh Strout's gonna
get a concussion and you probably be up for about
two games.
Speaker 4 (01:25:12):
Oh man, you already what are you looking at your
crystal ball trade? Good gracious man, it's eight o'clock in
eight twelve in the morning, and you got the dude
getting concussed and listening too to three games? Tray, They're
gonna give you a chance to take that damn thing back, dude,
what's up?
Speaker 1 (01:25:27):
I apologize, but it is what it is.
Speaker 17 (01:25:30):
You know, if if the old line's not doing their
job and and and the Texans staff has not anything
about fixing the old line, I mean we're asking for trouble.
Speaker 1 (01:25:39):
I mean it's written on the you know, it's written
on the wall.
Speaker 17 (01:25:42):
It's gonna happen. You know. They they went on the
got a linebacker? Okay, how is that gonna help the
old line? Getting a linebacker instead? Of focusing on the
old line, they went on the reinforcing the defense.
Speaker 1 (01:25:54):
Yeah, they need You're gonna need both this week.
Speaker 5 (01:25:56):
You're gonna need offensive line great play and defense against
the line.
Speaker 4 (01:26:00):
But I get your point. Basically, you're you're saying with
that you're putting C. J. Stroud in danger every week,
and we don't need him to concussed and missing two
three weeks and his health and danger. I get it.
Let's hope that the head injury or no injury happens, man,
and that they step their game up.
Speaker 2 (01:26:15):
Ye.
Speaker 4 (01:26:16):
Correct, I don't want that to happen.
Speaker 6 (01:26:19):
But but you know.
Speaker 4 (01:26:23):
What have they done to the line, Well, guess when
they're going to Well guess who's going to fix that?
Speaker 5 (01:26:28):
Those guys. Coordinator is going to have to help with
his play calling. The offensive line coach is going to
have to do whatever he can to dig in deep
and get these guys to bring all the nasty they
got out of them. And then the five dudes up front,
it's going to be incumbent upon them. They have to
change their approach to how they're doing this one not
not make some adjustments to where it's like, Okay, we've
(01:26:50):
had enough of this that's what it really is. All
the technique and everything we talk about going to come
down to some attitude and what you're willing to live with.
Speaker 4 (01:26:59):
And they can't.
Speaker 5 (01:27:00):
They're not gonna get where they want to go playing
giving up six and seven and eight sacks a week
and getting their quarterback with fifteen pressures.
Speaker 4 (01:27:07):
It's not gonna happen. They got to fix it. Trade
good point, man. Let's hope that it doesn't end with
an injury.
Speaker 5 (01:27:12):
Yeah, let's don't want because then you can you can Hell,
they may get chased down in the division if that happens. Yeah,
it's dangerous. You don't want that to happen. No disrespect
to Davis Mills, but there's a reason CJ. Strouth is
one of the better players in a league at his position.
Speaker 4 (01:27:26):
Got to have that dude upright.
Speaker 3 (01:27:28):
And it's going to take the offensive line to figure
out themselves because they didn't make any moves of the
trade deadline.
Speaker 4 (01:27:34):
It's them for the rest of the season. Figure it out.
Speaker 3 (01:27:36):
It's continuing this discussion on the Houston taxes next on
sports Stalk seven hinety.
Speaker 1 (01:27:41):
Why isn't the rat race more racy?
Speaker 4 (01:27:44):
Got construction completely shutting down the Southwest Streetway.
Speaker 10 (01:27:48):
Bert Anyway, enjoy your time crawling through Houston Road construction.
Speaker 1 (01:27:54):

like four songs left. You don't want to miss this one,
you don't. You don't want to miss this one.
Speaker 1 (01:28:07):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:28:08):
It leads right into the post party. There you go,
get over the trampoline, play a little spinning bottle, you know,
and then you say, baby, I'm your dream weaver in
her ear when your dad's a slowan. Really, I'm a
dream lever. That's a play right there. Yea.
Speaker 5 (01:28:20):
It's a soft mention too. That's good, like a soft
opening at the restaurant.
Speaker 4 (01:28:25):
Baby dream You said that? Huh more than was you
think they ever got told that? Maybe I'm your dream weaver?
Speaker 6 (01:28:36):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:28:36):
Excuse me? You told Ronda that last week? I want
to how dare you tell us the same? So? Who's
your who?
Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
Who?
Speaker 4 (01:28:46):
Who's the dream weaver?
Speaker 11 (01:28:47):
Me?
Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
You are?
Speaker 4 (01:28:48):
You want to write home for Tiffany? You want to
write home at my AMC pacer?
Speaker 8 (01:28:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:28:53):
I mean.
Speaker 4 (01:28:55):
Fine one seven ninety what's happening in bes?
Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
Get yes, sir.
Speaker 6 (01:29:03):
I know the couple other ones. Shane is some Chicago.
Speaker 8 (01:29:08):
Somebody.
Speaker 5 (01:29:09):
Oh yeah, Peter Satara, Oh yeah, you got at her
take notes Chicago, Peter Satara. Hard for me to say,
I'm sorry. That'll get you. That'll get your slow dance
with one of the ladies.
Speaker 6 (01:29:26):
At the high school dance and then then run back
it up with some line on Richie.
Speaker 1 (01:29:31):
Hello.
Speaker 4 (01:29:34):
If you go back to back slow, you're in dog.
That's who you're hoping more in high school? You know,
then they speeded.
Speaker 5 (01:29:39):
They go right with the slow and they cut into
like something fast where you gotta every way shout and whereby.
Speaker 4 (01:29:46):
You know, that's what they're like, thet shout. They go
right for the slow song when you're really about to
start your thing, and then all of a sudden they
run into shout and you're like, oh man, what a
buzz kill. But if they ever go back to back
thow songs at the high school dance, oh yeah, roll
from Satara to Lionel Ritchie. Pretty good call by your biscuit.
(01:30:07):
You had a chance to close, you could close. Then.
Speaker 6 (01:30:11):
I used to be a part of a group that
DJ parties and stuff when I was in high school.
I was seeing everybody else was like college guys whatever.
And I used to get the last rotation on the
DJs fan. I was like, man, I get, but that's
you know, that's what the last rotation is, none but slow.
Oh yeah, man, I used to throw some some Teddy
P or some la you know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 4 (01:30:33):
I don't know Teddy Pendergrass.
Speaker 1 (01:30:35):
They don't know anything about Teddy Pendergrass.
Speaker 4 (01:30:37):
I know Teddy Teddy P Dog.
Speaker 6 (01:30:40):
Oh okay, okay, some Teddy P, some Issen Brothers, some
the bars.
Speaker 4 (01:30:46):
You don't know nothing about no El DeBarge dog. Hey,
give me an elder barge cut live. You don't an
think about El the barge be leaving me. But you
just said, what do you know about Teddy? Okay, give me,
give me, give me something about Teddy Pendergrass that we
should know. You don't know that.
Speaker 12 (01:31:03):
We don't know what little baby ahead.
Speaker 4 (01:31:08):
What's the turn off? The turn off the light? Turn
the lights on too lost lights?
Speaker 6 (01:31:12):
That's yeah, that's yeah, you're right, that's what.
Speaker 3 (01:31:15):
Yeah, turn off the lights with Teddy P. Yeah, Teddy P.
Call Teddy P questioning my culture dog, Well, because you
know you've come up short a few times you're really good.
You've come up short.
Speaker 1 (01:31:24):
But you know what, I like you stay in the
game though, to bring your credit back up back.
Speaker 4 (01:31:30):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 5 (01:31:31):
Looking second, you know who Teddy P is. You're like,
he's like, okay, did credit credit? You know what it's like,
your credit a little bit. Yeah, you're at eight hundred.
You wanted to be eight oh three.
Speaker 4 (01:31:39):
Yeah, t P. Teddy it is bam yep, Teddy.
Speaker 6 (01:31:43):
Rockets the Rockets man. I'm telling you, I'm telling you,
I'm liking the Rockets man. And and once the coach
finally get his rotations. Now as far as who we're
gonna you know, mix and match and who were gonna play,
I'm telling you, I think the Rockets is due for
the year man, I say it. And game improvement, I'm
sticking with it. And and the only thing is, I know,
(01:32:04):
I don't know if you know Little Lima last night
with more Man, I think he in the doghouse.
Speaker 1 (01:32:09):
I saw.
Speaker 8 (01:32:11):
You.
Speaker 6 (01:32:12):
Gotta understand, man, with this coach, you better play some defense.
Speaker 5 (01:32:15):
And you know what, And I don't have a problem
slinging him into a one night doghouse or two until
you get out of it by playing the best way
to get out of the doghouse for a basketball coach
in my not from guys and talking to guys like
Frank Martin, who's you know, the basketball coach at UMass.
Now Frank's been a guest of this show, had Bob,
you know, Bob Huggins on in the past here and
obviously with our guy here locally with Calvin is the
(01:32:39):
best way to get The best way to get in
a doghouse is be lazy on the on the defensive end.
Best way to get out of it is be a
dog on the defensive end. I've always found when it
comes to hoops that there is no doubt that's the
way and biscuits so with that, and he'll find his
way back out, but he's gonna learn a lesson. And
I love that that Udoka sends those messages loud and clear,
(01:32:59):
and I think Kelvin does a great job of that too.
But they they don't lack on the defensive end when
you play for a guy like Kelvin Samson. So with that,
of these first eight games, what's your favorite thing so
far about the Rockets?
Speaker 6 (01:33:13):
The Jalen Green taking over the rains as being the
lead though.
Speaker 4 (01:33:18):
Is scored, especially when the game's on the line, and
he wants to be in his hands, right.
Speaker 6 (01:33:23):
Yeah, So when we when we need a bucket, we
need you to take the rains on it. And you
don't necessarily have to score the bucket, but you might
get it to somebody else, but they can score, but
you got to take the lead on it.
Speaker 5 (01:33:33):
And it also feels like the veteran players, some of
you know, they're young, but they've got a couple of
veterans almost feels like they've they've they bought into allowing
him to be that guy, right, actually want him to
be that guy.
Speaker 4 (01:33:43):
Yeah, it's a great point. Man five and three, he
let me say this far Go man, Prayers up the
pop man.
Speaker 6 (01:33:50):
You know, I don't you know, I know he had
some kind of hell fishue. I think he may have
had a heart attack or.
Speaker 5 (01:33:53):
Something along that line, yep, said yep, but I think
it was Monday or Tuesday. We brought it up saying,
you know, we we haven't talked enough about it, but
you know, with him not being the head coach right now,
prayers to him. He's been a friggin' legend and done
it right with all those championships and been a difference maker.
Let's hope he gets his health back, which is far
more important than being on those sidelines.
Speaker 4 (01:34:13):
So yeah, very impactful.
Speaker 5 (01:34:14):
That's a great point in our prayers for Greg Popovich
as he tries to you know, fully recover and get
back to being fully healthy. That'd be great biscuit, great stuff, man.
We appreciate great insight on all bro. He just walked
out to take a call, so I'll tell him you
said that bad. He's got you, Teddy p He gained
about fifteen points on.
Speaker 4 (01:34:35):
The street cred know one who Pittograss was there? You go,
It's Sports Talks ever, Naty Sean Salisburygia.
Speaker 5 (01:34:41):

Houston Astros LA to talk about Alex Bregman justin Verlander.
Speaker 3 (01:37:03):
You say kakushi. But before we get to that, talk
to Bill. Bill appreciates you holding good morning.
Speaker 4 (01:37:08):
No problem man, appreciate it real quick.
Speaker 1 (01:37:10):
Back to dream Weaver.
Speaker 4 (01:37:12):
I can't remember what I was thinking and doing back
in the day when that song was hot.
Speaker 15 (01:37:17):
But right now I'm hoping I'm dropping about my fifth
or six beer into a koozie and staring at my empty,
third empty shot glass.
Speaker 4 (01:37:24):
When I hear that song, I want to like float
and dream on that song. Damn rights.
Speaker 15 (01:37:32):
And I'd like to see a mobile music DJ combination
of Biscuit and Brian.
Speaker 4 (01:37:40):
I think it would really rock.
Speaker 15 (01:37:42):
Those guys taste really mesh really well, because this could
answer plenty of flavor and Brian has none, so it's
great combination.
Speaker 1 (01:37:54):
Oh my god, Brian, I'm glad you're in sports talk radio. Dude.
Speaker 3 (01:37:59):
Hey man, uh hey, look, no one says you had
to have flavor, but I got culture.
Speaker 4 (01:38:06):
I can tell you that, damned rights, you have culture.
Speaker 15 (01:38:10):
Sean, you made a great point earlier about the about
the UH, about the offensive.
Speaker 1 (01:38:14):
Line and UH.
Speaker 15 (01:38:15):
And this time of year most teams you can't pick
up offensive linemen.
Speaker 1 (01:38:21):
You see wide received, you see skilled.
Speaker 15 (01:38:23):
People moving around, maybe, but offensive linemen it's like trying
to find a first baseman mid season in baseball.
Speaker 16 (01:38:30):
You can't.
Speaker 4 (01:38:30):
You just can't find them laying around.
Speaker 16 (01:38:33):
And tell me if I'm wrong.
Speaker 4 (01:38:36):
This is a question I'll hang up and let you answer.
Speaker 15 (01:38:38):
But collectively, is offensive line right now the collective worst
position as far as skill and talent in the NFL
right now? Just seems like there's a lot of teams
with that offensive line that just don't play very well.
Speaker 4 (01:38:51):
We're talking about across across across the.
Speaker 5 (01:38:53):
League, right, Bill, across the league. Yeah, thanks for the call, brother,
great stuff and uh music down.
Speaker 2 (01:39:00):
I do.
Speaker 5 (01:39:02):
I think it's and maybe it's because you got to
have five of them working together that even on a
defensive line, if they miss a tackle, the defensive end
can come down and scrape down and go make the
tackle for you. Right, So doesn't look to the optics.
You can miss the guard getting double team and all
of a sudden the middle linebacker comes up and thumps
him for a no gain. Well, then the guard's actually
doing his job or he missed a tackle when somebody
(01:39:23):
cleans up for him after a three yard gain. On
the offensive line, your guy misses your host unless you're
doubling him. And you can't block a guy doubling him,
I think, Bill, to me, whether the analytics pointed out
pointed out or not, the offensive line play offensive line
play overall in this league in the run and pass game,
(01:39:43):
I would say, as groupings go, probably the worst in
the league about that.
Speaker 1 (01:39:49):
When I say the worst, that's not fair.
Speaker 4 (01:39:50):
Some do it well.
Speaker 5 (01:39:51):
But when you talk about thirty two teams, if you
say is there a weakness, I would imagine most teams
in this league think that offensive line certain positions that
they're not They're not completely comfortable with their offensive line.
I would agree with Bill on that. I I do,
I think, and I'm gonna tell you what else I
think that they're going to tell you is down. People
(01:40:11):
who study it. Quarterback play, Yeah, yeah, I have that.
They may go hand in hand because if the line's
not playing well the quarterback play and look at you
could probably go and say, well, are most of Baltimore
Ravens offensive line is pretty good.
Speaker 4 (01:40:23):
We were two weeks in, right, two or three weeks
into the season, and I asked, your will start this
year about the quarterback play?
Speaker 9 (01:40:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:40:30):
Because passing yards are down? Yeah? Now, is that a
product of an environment of the fact that the offensive
lines appear to not be as dominant? You know? And
part of that is that we play such finesse football.
Now it's you know, high school cost. Everything's spread them
out and play.
Speaker 5 (01:40:46):
You're not lining up in the I formation where there's
an attitude.
Speaker 4 (01:40:49):
It's like kind of finesse them to death.
Speaker 5 (01:40:51):
Now, the physical teams usually win more than the finesse
teams do overall, but I would say offensive line overall
is a weaker part than most groupings in the league.
And I would say that quarterback play overall, I'm talking
about as a whole.
Speaker 4 (01:41:05):
Has been down this year.
Speaker 2 (01:41:08):
For me.
Speaker 4 (01:41:10):
I just and then you get a guy.
Speaker 5 (01:41:12):
Some guys are having great seasons, but and that doesn't
mean the ones at the top, the MVP candidates. I'm
just saying overall, I think that that's probably a position
that we expect more from from certain people.
Speaker 4 (01:41:22):
And so I think that brings the curve down a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:41:24):
Yeah, I just I wonder how it coincides. Like if
you look across all the offensive lines throughout the NFL,
and their quarterback play put.
Speaker 5 (01:41:35):
Us I guarantee in certain situations. Look here, Stroud has
not played as good this year as he's played last year.
What's their biggest weakness? Offensive protection? It's just and not
that Strout hasn't played well plenty of times, but the
overall production feels different, and quite frankly, it is different.
Speaker 1 (01:41:52):
So it's a little different.
Speaker 5 (01:41:53):
But I'll bet you if you walked into offensive line
coaches or head coaches in a league or personnel guys,
all thirty two of them walked one in at a
time at accomference room and say is your offensive line
needed upgrade? I can guarant ask to you twenty five
of them are saying, yeah, yes, absolutely, I'm telling and
that may be normal to oppositions, but I guarantee there's some.
(01:42:14):
You say your wide receiver position needed upgrade, some are
saying absolutely not if they're healthy right, or the tight
end position. I think that you always want to better
your roster. I'm just talking about if you say, okay,
or go the other way, what's the biggest weakness on
your team on a database or position or one person.
I'll guarantee most of the offensive line is going to
(01:42:34):
be in there for some hard position to do. You're
blocking great athletes, but still it's part of getting paid.
Speaker 1 (01:42:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:42:41):
I think I think it's a I don't want to
say an epidemic, and I do think it's a problem.
Speaker 4 (01:42:45):
Yeah, I think it is a problem.
Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
I would say quarterback play throughout the league this year
is down, and again I wonder where it co exists
or coincides with offensive line poll.
Speaker 4 (01:42:55):
There will be analytics that makes them match the match that. Yeah,
what's the what's what is it? A pff to football Focus? Yeah.
And the ones that do the uh they do it
all all that Yeah, heavy position, Yes they do.
Speaker 3 (01:43:08):
Yeah, because pass blocking rates and UH sacks allowed rate
and all that other percentages stuff like that. That's a
good website to look into. All right, let's let's talk
to Astros baseball. Let's look into you say, Kakuchi, is
there a chance the Astros could go get him?
Speaker 1 (01:43:21):
Next?
Speaker 4 (01:43:21):
On Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:43:24):
You're back. This is the Sean Salisbury shown. Get back
at it.
Speaker 3 (01:43:30):
Dak Prescott, part of his hamstring was ripped off the
bone and Jerry Jones will still not put him on IR.
That injury is it takes more than four weeks?
Speaker 4 (01:43:46):
What is IR? Four week span? Dude? Put your quarterback
on IR, you dumb ass. Well, he's going against your
feelings on your favorite quarterback in the league.
Speaker 1 (01:43:56):
Cooper Rush.
Speaker 3 (01:43:57):
Cooper Rush is five and one in his career as
a starter. Watch them win this weekend, watch them beat
the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:44:04):
They very Hey, what happens is you kind of scale down,
don't try to do much with the back, you know,
backup quarterback. You say he's he's smart and been in
a league long enough to know, but his skill set
may be a little less in certain areas than Dak Prescott's.
Speaker 1 (01:44:17):
What do you do?
Speaker 4 (01:44:17):
Scale the offense down? And usually what happens players play better,
they don't have less, they have a little less to
think about. Go play, and he'll probably take less chances
than maybe Dak Prescott will. I don't expect him to
play poorly against Philadelphia. To you, no, I don't see
by the way nice cut TRIPLEI I can see clearly
now Dak's hamster's gone. His hamm he's done.
Speaker 5 (01:44:41):
If it's ripped off the bone, you can't come back
in four weeks from a ripped off the bone hammy. Hey,
what listen for now? Cooper Rush is his quarterback. He
could be Trey Lance. We'll give the young man a chance.
Maybe all about Cooper Rush. Now, we turned the reins
(01:45:02):
over to him.
Speaker 4 (01:45:03):
Brian, and they also went out and they were they
were buyers at the deadline. Brian you're not allowed to
say that to me. What's he say? Sean? That Soulisbury. Look,
I'm gonna tell you if if, if you're not gonna
ask me the right questions, I'll find somebody that will.
Speaker 5 (01:45:16):
You got to say, Sean, ask me that. Sean, I've
known you a long time. But you know what, you're
not a football guy. A football guy and you are.
Speaker 4 (01:45:25):
Oh man. And they were buyers at the deadline?
Speaker 1 (01:45:28):
What did they buy?
Speaker 15 (01:45:30):
Wait?
Speaker 4 (01:45:30):
Would they buy?
Speaker 1 (01:45:31):
You said? Buyers at the dead nuts?
Speaker 4 (01:45:33):
They wouldn't got a new wide receiver. I know, yeah,
I traded a fourth round pick. Okay, see these nuts
is out right back up call back?
Speaker 1 (01:45:44):
He said that he'll take that back. Cowboys are not winning.
Speaker 4 (01:45:47):
Oh, I watched them win. I didn't say they are
going to win. We want some biscuits. Better you done?
Whatever you want? He said, whatever you want.
Speaker 3 (01:45:55):
But the Cowboys they're probably not gonna win. But I'm
saying watch them play better with Cooper Rush is their quarterback. Yeah, well,
Cooper Cooper Rash is our quarterback and and Trey Lance
is now the back up.
Speaker 4 (01:46:06):
Always say buyers, though, I mean what they do. They
wouldn't bought a wide you know.
Speaker 3 (01:46:10):
But my whole point in saying that is he thinks
they didn't do a damn thing in the offseason, but
there's a trade deadline, they're like, oh, you know, we
got to upgrade the wide receiver room.
Speaker 5 (01:46:18):
Yeah, with with your quarterback you know, uh CD was
banged up a little bit last week. Right now he's
okay though, and then your quarterbacks out and not gonna
be back for a couple of weeks.
Speaker 4 (01:46:27):
Yes, So why do you go get help? That's what
I'm saying. Why do you give them help?
Speaker 1 (01:46:31):
Exactly?
Speaker 4 (01:46:31):
Cede Lamb, you know, gets a new contract. Hell of
a player, hasn't had its best year, but hell of
a player. Dak Prescott, you know he paid him. But
let's not give them any help. But let's go get help.
Now what we had to give up an asset? We're
in free agency. I don't have to do that, right.
I don't get it, exactly, I don't. I don't understand it.
Who's their quarterback? Cooper Rash? Cooper Rush is going to
(01:46:56):
start in the center, you know, dak Is is low
banged down.
Speaker 5 (01:46:59):
Jerry, let me ask you a question, Okay, do you
believe you've been a do you're a great personnel guy.
Speaker 4 (01:47:04):
I mean, you know who's gonna do it better than me? Sean? Again,
he asked me that yesterday, and I'm gonna ask you again,
who better than me? Where are you gonna find him?
Where are you gonna find him? Well, you're taking pluses
or minuses right now. Look, I don't want to talk
about the pluses and the minuses. We got a minus
going on right now. That's out. Cooper Rush is our quarterback, Jerry. Look, Sean,
(01:47:30):
I'm not gonna keep you can't keep asking me these questions. Sean,
you're just not a football guy. But Jerry, you didn't
do a lot in the off season. I mean, Zeke
Elliott was your prize pick and pick up and you
cut him in the past, got rid of let him walk,
I mean because of you know, he's just when his career.
He felt like he brought him back. So here's your
Cooper Rush is our quarterback. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:47:51):
But Jerry, well, why personnel? No personnel this offseason? I mean,
you're the general manager. Did you do enough for your team?
Speaker 4 (01:47:56):
I am the general manager, and we can't talk about
what could have been back then. We got to talk
about the now and you're not going to question me
on my football team. Okay, it was better than me.
Speaker 3 (01:48:08):
You're the face Sean, I'm not Look, did you think
you can ask me whatever you want because you got
a microphone in front of your face?
Speaker 4 (01:48:16):
Again, you're not a football guy.
Speaker 1 (01:48:19):
I pay your Satya, He's like, and you know.
Speaker 5 (01:48:21):
For guys that I pay, I pay your sat Jerry,
you are the GM, so we are asking personnel questions.
Could you have done more in the offseason?
Speaker 3 (01:48:29):
Look, I'm not going to continue to go down this
path with you. You know, where are you going to
find him? Where would you find find him? Where'd you
find him? You've done some good things too, have you?
Speaker 1 (01:48:38):
Jerry? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:48:39):
I mean have you seen our revenue stream? Are the Frisco?
You're not a football guy. He's out of it a
freaking whack, but he's pretty good. How much money did
Musco Oil make yesterday? I think it was like fourteen
billion at one point. At one point five time we
(01:49:01):
got off the show, he was up to twelve.
Speaker 3 (01:49:03):
I think it went up to more. Jimmy Kimmel World's
Biggest Big You Wanted? My man was crying last night on.
Speaker 4 (01:49:12):
On DJ Jimmy Kimble needs a hug. Oh my god.
Speaker 5 (01:49:15):
But yeah, so muscoil made what fourteen bilbers or something
like that. That's a hell of a day. Now, Jerry,
how much did you make on the market yesterday?
Speaker 2 (01:49:23):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:49:23):
When I look at the pluses and the minuses of
yesterday's transactions, my football team, the Dallas Cowboys, worth ninety
five billion dollars, So you made yesterday was what a plus? Yeah?
It was a plus?
Speaker 3 (01:49:38):
But but on the field, we're dealing with some minuses.
But Cooper Rushes our quarterback. Okay, we went out and
got Jonathan Mingo.
Speaker 5 (01:49:46):
Dude the way he says it too. Hey, right now
we're in a mile minuses. Now we got some mine.
Speaker 4 (01:49:53):
Right now, we got a minus going on. You know
Mica Parsons, you know he might he might be coming
back here pretty soon. He joined practice yesterday. Well, Jerry,
you're gonna do more for the Sean Sean again, I'm
not gonna keep hamster. You're not a football guy.
Speaker 3 (01:50:15):
Can you imagine being being those two guys that are
on that radio program should have been dealing with this guy.
Speaker 4 (01:50:21):
Yeah, Sean and j oh really, Jerry, we've been talking
football with you fourteen years.
Speaker 1 (01:50:24):
But hey, what do we know?
Speaker 16 (01:50:25):
What do we know?
Speaker 18 (01:50:26):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:50:26):
We've only wely know you, like the back of our
hand from our segments with you for fourteen years now. Unbelievable, man,
that's actually really not unbelievale because it is Jerry Jones.
But yeah, man, Dak Prescott not on ir because that
hamstring hanging off the bone.
Speaker 4 (01:50:40):
He's listed his day to day. But beat on a bone. Yeah,
a little meat left on that bone.
Speaker 1 (01:50:45):
Sad.
Speaker 5 (01:50:46):
That's a bummer for Prescott now and Philadelphia is beating
the Cowboys. Yeah, unless now, if they don't Nick Sirianna,
you want to talk about catching some flack, dude, they're
gonna they're gonna toast him.
Speaker 4 (01:50:58):
Yeah, if they don't beat I know, I think AJ
Brown's out again. They're still a better roster.
Speaker 3 (01:51:04):
Yeah they are. No question they should win. There's no
There's no question about it. It's get into the nine

Speaker 7 (01:58:04):
Hey, what's up, guys, Good morning. How are you doing today?
Speaker 4 (01:58:06):
We're good man. What you got on these Cowboys?
Speaker 9 (01:58:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:58:09):
Man, I heard y'all talking about the Cowboys. I'm actually
one of the few fans in Houston that are you know,
I was born with no Houston team, so I'm a
Cowboy fan by default. You know, by the time of nine,
you know, we already had a team. So anyways, I
heard y'all talking about the little Call from the Fan
with Jerry Jones falling in, yeah, grilling the guy man.
(01:58:31):
And I was actually listening to that because I was
actually at the Cowboys Lions the game.
Speaker 12 (01:58:35):
So I was like, hey, let me turn on.
Speaker 4 (01:58:36):
You know, the radio, see what they're saying.
Speaker 7 (01:58:38):
And I'm telling you, man, like I heard every not
every interview, but most of the interviews that Dana over
the Asturo season, and Sean was grilling Dana compared to
what you know, this guy was asking Jerry, and it
was a very you know, very answerable question, just say, hey,
what's going on, you know, with's the personnel? And he
just took it the other way, and you know, really
(01:58:59):
to us were like, man, that's that's who Jerry is,
so you know, none of us are thinking, hey, this
is our year. It's really just like, man, we're gonna be,
you know, kind of what we have been until Jerry's gone.
So you know, it's really devastating right now for us
Cowboy fans.
Speaker 5 (01:59:14):
Yeah, what's crazy to Michael. You make a great point.
The sad part about it is he's never gonna give
it up. I don't mind about the ownership part. But
we talk about ego and listen, there is no better
marketer in the world when it comes to a sport.
He just is the guy knows how to make money,
there is no doubt.
Speaker 4 (01:59:30):
But can you imagine if he found somebody like him,
I mean, with his marketing smarts, there was football savvy,
smart and took ego and pride and just was a
pure football guy. Oh can you Can you imagine and said, listen,
I'm gonna turn it over to you. I'm gonna empower you.
Speaker 5 (01:59:46):
We'll we'll talk and we'll obviously discuss what we're doing,
but I want you to be that guy and you
hire your scouting staff and all of it.
Speaker 4 (01:59:52):
Can you imagine? Because Cowboy fans do deserve better than that.
Speaker 5 (01:59:56):
All this time, and I know they've won some, but
you're right, it is not gonna change as long as
he's not only the owner but the GM.
Speaker 4 (02:00:02):
If he would remove himself from the GM role, it
would improve. He's done some good things as a GM,
he has he and Steven, but you got to get
a guy who can who got to be able to compartmentalize.
Speaker 1 (02:00:12):
He can't do that.
Speaker 5 (02:00:14):
His compartment is either his way or it ain't gonna work.
And unfortunately it hasn't worked his way since the mid nineties.
And need I take anybody back to those early to
mid nineties who was on the roster and who was
running the show there?
Speaker 4 (02:00:28):
So you're right, man, I feel your pain. Brother.
Speaker 5 (02:00:30):
I'm a Raider fan. So what's the truth is, I'm
just the AFC version of your NFC Cowboys. You know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (02:00:38):
There's no different, honest to guy, HiT's different coaches, the
stronghold that you have. Coach comes, front office, guy goes,
GM comes and goes. You underdraft, a guy overdraft, a
guy can't find the right one. Fire this guy get
rid of three coaches during the season. The truth is,
I'm just your ncion NFC version. I saw I feel
your pain every day.
Speaker 1 (02:00:57):
Brother.
Speaker 5 (02:00:57):
It's like I love the Raiders, but they can't win
anytime soon. So yeah, it's painful.
Speaker 1 (02:01:04):
We see you know what he's doing.
Speaker 7 (02:01:05):
You know, he's we're losing the season. He's going to
get a running back with the high draft pick. You know,
he doesn't want to pay anyone. You know, he doesn't
want to go out and pay running back. So you
know we're gonna suffer this year. We're gonna get a
high draft pick, and you know next year we'll all be,
you know, singing the praise.
Speaker 4 (02:01:19):
Right or even a head coach that doesn't is in
a yes man. That's another thing.
Speaker 5 (02:01:25):
Even if even if they get rid of McCarthy, I
could assure you the guy that comes in here is
not going to be Bill Belichick. I don't think he'd
have because that means Jerry gets doesn't get to be
the face and the voice of the franchise anymore. Right, Right,
So a lot of it all just look at the hires.
Look at the hires. They they've all been a guy
(02:01:46):
Jerry can Oh, you can't all make the decisions. You're
just you're just not going to be the head coach.
Speaker 1 (02:01:51):
Right.
Speaker 5 (02:01:52):
We had the good football guys, right, but aren't going
to challenge. They're not going to challenge the authority. It's
okay to respectfully challenge an owner, your GM.
Speaker 4 (02:02:00):
It just is.
Speaker 5 (02:02:00):
As a coach, you should, just like your players, should
challenge why you're putting to play in during the week
so you can explain to him here's how it's gonna
work and why that's a good thing. But Jerry doesn't
want that. And that's why Cowboy fans, all, who are
we going to get as a coach, You're gonna get
a guy Jerry can tell exactly what to do. That's
exactly what you're gonna get. When Mike McCarthy's out the coach. Mike, Hey,
great stuff, brother, hang in there, man, I feel it.
(02:02:22):
I can feel it from the woodlands, my man. Thank
you for the call. Appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (02:02:26):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (02:02:27):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (02:02:27):
Good stuff. Another thing you don't think about this. That's
why I don't feel sorry, not Michael, but anybody. Yeah,
the cowboy.
Speaker 4 (02:02:33):
Fans here when things are struggling. You know why. I'm
a Raider and a Trojan fan. Yeah, yeah, you're quarterback
in the US. He just got better be me.
Speaker 5 (02:02:43):
For a second, we're wondering if Lincoln Riley two years ago,
Lincoln Roy's a king Now, I don't know if he's
gonna make it. Raiders Antonio Pierce, myke guy, I love
him trying to fight and scratch. It goes from interim
coach to full time is he going.
Speaker 8 (02:02:54):
To do it?
Speaker 4 (02:02:54):
Already fired three coach? So you want to talk about
painful that or that's my two teams?
Speaker 1 (02:02:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:03:00):
Oh, and if I threw in the old school, my
my non Houston Asher's Red Sox team, they didn't make
the playoffs and you want to go in and I
got Oh, and I get to root for the Lakers,
and guess who I get to root for? Lebron Chance
love Lebron's game, James. Yeah, you don't feel bad for
me at all, exactly right, right, So I feel I
(02:03:23):
could legitimately for your painting, for my Trojans and for this,
especially for the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (02:03:27):
It's been going on way too long, way too long.
Speaker 1 (02:03:31):
M man.
Speaker 3 (02:03:34):
You know what, you know what The two parallels between
the Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys are ownership ownership bingo.
Speaker 5 (02:03:41):
Yeah, I'm gonna tell you for all Al Daves and
Mark listen, Mark Davis a good enough guy, but they
love control, right, A lot of powerful people do. The
powerful person who empowers the next level that the people
he hire to have to to compartmentalize. The powerful people
that are willing to delegate win more than those who won't,
(02:04:02):
because you can't be a doctor and a lawyer at
the same time. No, So with that, yeah, Mark Davis
and all the crap Al Davis took. You tell me
that dude wasn't a genius in football, all thet daing
and Jerry Jones and Jones when it comes to that
Al Davis, I'm gonna tell you something, dude. I've been
around him and I've interviewed him. Al Davis is mind
(02:04:22):
for football. Now, he thought different. You know, he went
out he wanted to speed Al Davis when it comes
to just football sharpness, Yeah, I'm telling you he he
was a coach at s C was al Davis had
a sharp mind for football and he knew everything.
Speaker 4 (02:04:38):
He missed nothing.
Speaker 5 (02:04:40):
His problem was he a little too loyal to guys
who'd you know, and they'd take on the one thing
the old Raiders, did you know they did they take
on somebody else's disc Did they push him out the door. Yeah,
and he'd turn a guy who is you know, uh
sent out of the building from another place and turn
him into a They milk two more years of Pro
Bowl football out of him, and they got the right
characters together. But he was big go on camaraderie and chemistry.
(02:05:02):
Matter of fact, for the Raiders old school, some of
the chemistry was actually better than some of the talent.
Yet the talent shine because they all believe that the
next dude was going to get it done. Yes men, yes,
men and power hungry that don't delegate. Yeah, hard to
keep winning, men, hard to keep winning.
Speaker 3 (02:05:19):
Seeing it with the Dallas Cowboys and the Raiders, let's
get to break. And you know Sean mentioned, excuse me camaraderie, Well,
camaraderie is exactly what Intrepid Care is trying to do

I mean, you know, like nat Cole King, who no,
Who's who's counting? Though you know what I'm saying, nat
Cole King.
Speaker 4 (02:07:41):
You have called it that. No, the first time you call,
you called thought his day was nat cole King. I
did not? Yeah, you actually did? You actually did it?
What do you don't want us to do that?
Speaker 1 (02:07:54):
Why not?
Speaker 4 (02:07:54):
Because you'll be host completely host and who's it? What?

Speaker 4 (02:08:10):

Speaker 1 (02:08:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:08:12):
Actually I have.
Speaker 1 (02:08:15):
Talk about that.
Speaker 4 (02:08:16):
Okay, had so many damn procedures in the last three week.
You ever swallowed swallowed?
Speaker 2 (02:08:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:08:31):
That one man's just not good.
Speaker 6 (02:08:33):
No, but you.
Speaker 1 (02:08:35):
Swallow a pillow.
Speaker 3 (02:08:37):
He's got a camera. It's got a camera in it.
Nod that a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (02:08:41):
I sure haven't. Have you had prostate check lately? I
have colonsby endoscopy hands you offerings endoscopy?
Speaker 5 (02:08:55):
If you had a fistoscopy, you've had a cold? I
mean a uh the prostate check lately? Everything good?
Speaker 1 (02:09:03):
No, you can't laugh at that when you talk about it.
Speaker 4 (02:09:07):
No, find a doctor with a bigger hands. Gotta go
to a coll rectal specialist. Sounds if you can't spell, it,
or use it in the sentence.
Speaker 1 (02:09:20):
That is not good.
Speaker 4 (02:09:21):
I'm not using the sentence.
Speaker 1 (02:09:23):
Man.
Speaker 4 (02:09:23):
Oh man, why are your arms folded? You're unapproachable right now.
I'm uncomfortable.
Speaker 3 (02:09:32):
Hey, you know you Okay, No, I'm not. I wasn't
even prefer to that. I do if you had your
head check, he said, scam. Well, damn, I've had too
many freaking.
Speaker 5 (02:09:42):
Oh when you walk by Bride, the radiation by too
many of them, you can't kill him though. You can't
with a dog on lightning strike. Dude, you'll be alive
to your buck forty. You're that guy to get struck
by the hard stuff. Ain't coming out for hours?
Speaker 6 (02:09:59):
Man?
Speaker 4 (02:10:00):
Oh yeah, pause, yeah, yeah with you, man, a lot
wrong with you, a lot.
Speaker 3 (02:10:08):
All right, let's talk to cowboy Darryl. You know I
had to get in on this cowboys conversation. What's up,
cowboy Daryl?
Speaker 1 (02:10:14):
You know you know y'all got my you know y'all
got my nerves up.
Speaker 4 (02:10:18):
Man, But no, no, don't ever.
Speaker 16 (02:10:22):
Don't ever start out of sentence some of that sun
Shane sucker.
Speaker 1 (02:10:25):
You just start out of centers. Man, what have you
ever swallowed anything? Yeah? I know, man, Yeah, don't you're right.
Why would he toss this softball to me? Say? Hey,
you ever swallowed?
Speaker 4 (02:10:36):
And then there's a pregnant pause between swallowed and a
pill with a camera And I said, well, dude, don't
leave that pregnant pause. I'm pouncing.
Speaker 16 (02:10:46):
Hey, man, get Michael McDonald man many by minute?
Speaker 1 (02:10:49):
Are you the.
Speaker 16 (02:10:50):
Average white man person? The person are either wing? Five reasons?
Speaker 8 (02:10:53):
Man?
Speaker 6 (02:10:54):
Some good ones?
Speaker 1 (02:10:55):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (02:10:55):
Hear that tripleing reasons and by Mike miked by reasons
theirse went and fire and which one do you want?
By Mike McDonald many by a minute, another good cut.
Speaker 16 (02:11:07):
There you go, every white man that go with person
to person. Hey, look here talking about Jerry Man and
it's sad, you know, y'all go back and look, Troy
had a interview out man.
Speaker 4 (02:11:20):
I don't know if y'all started an interview.
Speaker 16 (02:11:22):
And that's not when he was ripping the ripping the players.
Speaker 8 (02:11:24):
There was an interview.
Speaker 16 (02:11:25):
He was talking about his frustration before he left the Cowboys,
and austration was he actually had planned on playing somewhere
else it didn't happen materializing he went to the booth.
Speaker 4 (02:11:37):
But he was talking about how he had got to
the point where he had.
Speaker 1 (02:11:41):
He was fed up here.
Speaker 16 (02:11:42):
He had basically reached his point, done as much as
he could do with an organization.
Speaker 4 (02:11:47):
It really didn't appreciate what he had.
Speaker 16 (02:11:50):
Was an interested in what he and what his feelings
were for the direction of the team and really real
thought provoking.
Speaker 4 (02:11:56):
But also you mentioned now Davis, Man, you.
Speaker 18 (02:11:59):
Got really as that Davis was a was a former coach,
Yes too, yes, absolutely so his concept for football is
different than Jerry's.
Speaker 1 (02:12:10):
You know, Jerry, Jerry had Jimmy and he thought by
you know.
Speaker 16 (02:12:16):
That he could you know, uh, capitalize on what Jimmy
did and make it look like it was his and
take credit and didn't want to give Jimmy his due.
But you know, hey, man, you've been trying to prove this,
prove that she was better than this man since you
since he left, and you ain't done it.
Speaker 1 (02:12:33):
You know, you can't close with part sales. But Parsels
got fed up with the same thing. Man. You know,
My whole thing is it's not gonna happen.
Speaker 16 (02:12:41):
I mean, like I said, I've been a cowboy fans
is marriage was quarterback turning off for my age. But
my whole point is it's not gonna happens long as
he is our general manager.
Speaker 1 (02:12:52):
Man, it's just not gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (02:12:54):
Spot On, Aryl, spot On, Brother, hang up to listen
to y'all man. That's great. He were on the same page.
We've said that, dude. It just he's at the.
Speaker 5 (02:13:04):
Point now where he's allowing his power and his stronghold
to get in the way of good football decisions. He
just is and it's not going to. Guess what, they
won't get another GM. If Jerry decides to give it up.
You know where it's going, it'd go to Steven. Steven's
pretty adept at doing it. But they I think they
need to get somebody that's outside the family GM, that
thinks different. They need it outside the box thinker in
(02:13:26):
that organization. It's time they are too They're stale.
Speaker 4 (02:13:29):
Yeah, but they're not going to do it. No, but
they are stale and Darrel's at one hundred percent right.
Speaker 5 (02:13:33):
I think Cowboy fans, instead of knowing they're going to
be good every year, it's a hope thing because personnel wise,
they just can't get out of their own way with
the GM. If they would not listen, Jerry's done some
good things football wise, hell, he has.
Speaker 4 (02:13:47):
But Jerry would have to listen.
Speaker 5 (02:13:52):
If the Cowboys lack thereof of getting to Super Bowls
with Jerry as the GM for years now, if Jerry
was the owner but wasn't the GM, he would have
fired that GM. Yes, he would have fired his GM
five times over by now.
Speaker 1 (02:14:07):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (02:14:09):
Is that not an issue. That's a huge issue, and
that is the main issue. The main issue is Jerry Jones.
Jerry Jones, the GM, correct the owners. They thinks that
we got a lot of owners. It'd be to a
different drum right. One thing to Jerry, why would you
give that up?
Speaker 5 (02:14:23):
That's I mean, you're sitting on a gold mark unless
you don't want anybody to unless you want to spend
all your cash before you die when you're one hundred
and five.
Speaker 4 (02:14:30):
But then also, even if they were to go get
a GM, would you let him be a GEN.
Speaker 5 (02:14:35):
That's another problem. That's why you're not going to get
the coach that you'll let be the full coach. You're
operating out of check out over your shoulder every time
you do it. I'm not making a excuse for the coach.
You took the job you got to do. You know
what you get into exactly you know what you're doing.
Speaker 4 (02:14:47):
But if Jerry, if the general manager, Jerry hired at
five different times throughout these last twenty five years or more,
if Jerry was the only owner only and was going
by production, Jerry would have fired his gms. He would regularly. Yes,
that's a problem. It's a pretty simple way to put it. Yeah,
that is pretty simple. All right, let's get the break.
Speaker 3 (02:15:08):
We'll continue this discussion next right here on Sports Talks

The Shawn Salisbury Show Continues.
Speaker 4 (02:16:58):
Released in nineteen seventy eight. Seventy eight was a good
year boys, Good boys.
Speaker 5 (02:17:06):
That's a Hank Stramp. Let's go boys sixty five toss
bat trap who Hank Stram?
Speaker 2 (02:17:12):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (02:17:12):
Okay, heyah?
Speaker 5 (02:17:14):
Talking about the new school cowboys who look don't look
anything like their old and new cowboys.
Speaker 4 (02:17:18):
No, they don't look more like plowboys than anything. Ay,
that's wrong with a good plowboy.
Speaker 3 (02:17:25):
Regarding you, say Kakuchi's free agency, Yeah, let's go, let's go.
His agent is Scott Boris, he said yesterday. Quote without
having a qualifying offer, you see a whole menu of
teams that would not normally be participating for a starter
at that level. For that reason, he's one of the
most sought after players in free agency.
Speaker 4 (02:17:44):
End quote.
Speaker 3 (02:17:45):
With the post All Star bre excuse me, post trade
deadline season if you will, that he had, I can
understand why a lot of teams would be in line
for you, say, Kakuchi, he was fantastic for the Astros.
Speaker 4 (02:18:00):
He didn't Eve get to pitch in the playoffs. He
was alone. You should go resign him for that. He
was absolutely lights out, lights out the postseason and special,
and he is going to get paid. Matter of fact,
you may even get an overpay on him because he
left hander who the last what's the last thing they
have in their mind about Kukuchi dominant this last ten
(02:18:22):
or eleven games?
Speaker 1 (02:18:23):
Right?
Speaker 4 (02:18:23):
He was really good, really good.
Speaker 5 (02:18:24):
Yeah, so I'm going to assume that he's gonna have
a chance to really get paid. Yeah, he was, And
I don't think that, and I don't have a problem
with it. He's when you earn that, man, why not
let it rip. Yeah, he did exactly what they wanted
him to do here.
Speaker 3 (02:18:39):
And it's just it sucks that you didn't Eve get
to see him pitch in the in the postseason at all.
Speaker 4 (02:18:44):
That's exactly right. I'm just daying it.
Speaker 8 (02:18:46):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:18:46):
It sucked.
Speaker 3 (02:18:46):
Man, I mean, you look at what he did for
the Houston Astros while he was here. Let's see one, two, three, four, five,
five wins, just one loss. They won I think every
game except for one that he pitched.
Speaker 5 (02:19:03):
In second last one or second to last one. Was
it something like that, Yeah, because they were like nine
straight that they'd won. That he pitched in last game
he pitched, they lost.
Speaker 1 (02:19:11):
That's it. There you go.
Speaker 4 (02:19:13):
And he pitched well. He pitched six innings, gave up
just four hits, nor and runs out eight.
Speaker 13 (02:19:18):
Right.
Speaker 5 (02:19:18):
That was one of those we came out and said,
you gotta score some runs to give a guy a chance, right,
and that he pitched great, he's gonna get paid, and
I hope it's here.
Speaker 3 (02:19:25):
With let's see, gimme Verlander. I mean, give me ken
he had like a two stixy R with the Astros.
Speaker 5 (02:19:34):
Gimme Verlander second. In this one, give me Cokuci first,
Verlander second. If if you had to prioritize and say
which pitcher do I want going forward next year, I'll
take Kakuchi when it comes to the money, will you?
And yeah, give me give me he's better right now?
And if he seemed to fit in great here and
then now there's the Bregman situation, but there's I'm anxious
(02:19:58):
to see. When are we going to start hearing about
this guy's I mean, when, when is it gonna start flowing, you.
Speaker 4 (02:20:03):
Know what I mean, trying to think kind of money
Sodo gonna get?
Speaker 1 (02:20:07):
Good?
Speaker 4 (02:20:08):
Gracious, did you see that the Rays are interested in
one Soto Tampa Bay. Yeah, you said the Rays? Right?
Speaker 3 (02:20:15):
Yeah, they don't even have a stadium because if it
got destroyed during the roof got destroyed. They said, it's
probably not even be ready for opening day.
Speaker 4 (02:20:21):
Well, but you know what, you know what they can do.
They don't have the money that.
Speaker 5 (02:20:26):
Five hundred plus million, and they say we'd like avon
Tampa and if nobody's offering that, he may be able to.
I think he can fight through that. Okay, here at
that's rarefied stuff there. Oh yeah, I mean that's a
whole different decision making process. He's gonna get five fifty.
Speaker 4 (02:20:46):
He's got to get.
Speaker 1 (02:20:48):
Now.
Speaker 5 (02:20:48):
The question is, when you're a team then you're going
after him. Can you literally look him in the face
and say, well, you got to get the second highest hour.
We can't pay you more than Otani? Or is he
what do you mean you can't pay me? I'm young,
I got all this. You're gonna have to pay I mean,
is there are we really looking at the guy who's
gonna go buy the best player right now, the most
unique athlete. And this was in sports are especially in baseball. Ever, Sorry,
(02:21:11):
no disrespect to Bo Jackson or Brabe Ruth. This guy's different.
Speaker 1 (02:21:15):
So are we?
Speaker 5 (02:21:16):
Are we really gonna pay uh Soto more than Otani
just because the timing and he had a great year.
He's I mean, sometimes it's not the very best player
who gets the most money. He may, but it doesn't
last song and somebody else. Timing's everything, and man, did
he have great timing for a to be a free agent.
(02:21:37):
And his age says mega, he's gonna win. He's winning
a power ball, Yeah, the big version of power ball.
Speaker 3 (02:21:45):
I would say that he's gonna either stay you know what,
He's gonna stay in New York and it's either gonna
be the Mets that sign him or the Yankees. Steve
Cohen will dish out big time money. You'd be willing
to do the six onunder million.
Speaker 5 (02:21:55):
I think you may have trouble getting him out of
the Yankees, but I don't think the Yankees are gonna
let the guys across You can you imagine living with that?
Speaker 2 (02:22:00):
God?
Speaker 4 (02:22:01):
Do they let you? You let the guys across the street.
Speaker 5 (02:22:03):
I mean when I say across street your other you
know they're over there in the Shay Stadium is what
I still called it, City Bank or whatever. To the
city field. He is he is, and the stadium, the
ballpark fits him. And obviously the pressure is not too
big for him.
Speaker 1 (02:22:17):
Right.
Speaker 5 (02:22:18):
He's got that sense of you know, with the way
he's at the plate when the ball goes and he
gives you that look. He's got that sense of arrogance
and confidence, and he delivers his numbers during a free
agent year is exactly when you say, please let me
have this kind of year. It would have been nice
for him if been in in a World Series, but
still he did his part. Can you imagine having that
kind of year and you say I'm sitting on five Yeah,
I'm saying north of five hundred million.
Speaker 4 (02:22:38):
Yeah, it's above five hundred, no doubt, which will mean
it's going to be like ten to thirteen year contract. Yeah,
that's what it's going to end up. Yeah, it'll have
to be. I think the minimum is ten years.
Speaker 5 (02:22:49):
And now probably because it's him, say seven years or
six years into it, there's an outclause.
Speaker 3 (02:22:54):
Out yep Scott Boris Man, just the the players that
we just mentioned, Alex Bragnant, and you say, Kakuchi want Soto.
Speaker 1 (02:23:02):
Let's do it.
Speaker 4 (02:23:03):
Let's do it for fun.
Speaker 5 (02:23:03):
Let's say Kokuchi's four years at twenty million each. Okay,
let's just say for the hell of it, because the
way is being described is not a qualifying offer. R
eighty million. Let's say Bragman gets a buck seventy. Okay,
so what's that two fifty and Soto gets five hundred.
That's seven hundred and fifty million dollars. Now, let's say,
do you get your calculator do six percent of five
(02:23:27):
hundred of seven hundred and fifty million bucks.
Speaker 4 (02:23:32):
I can do it in my head right now. But
forty five million dollars between four and six that's what
he's gonna make, Oh my god, over the course of
those country clients. Three.
Speaker 5 (02:23:42):
Now, remember those contracts that he's got from all these
other guys. Every year, you know, they're paying him every
month or or whatever however they take their payment out.
Speaker 4 (02:23:51):
That's what he's getting.
Speaker 5 (02:23:54):
That's that's why he's the second most The commissioner usually
is the most powerful guy in baseball. Maybe he's not
Scott Morris is the top three most powerful people in baseball.
The networks are powerful, the commissioner's powerful. Is there anybody
outside of those two that's more powerful than Scott Borrison?
What he in the superstars he controls in baseball? I
don't think so either.
Speaker 3 (02:24:13):
Scott Boris has a net worth of four hundred and
fifty million dollars.
Speaker 4 (02:24:16):
He's a baseball agent. Yes, that's great. That's like that's
corporate CEO of a fortune five under company right right.
And he's a sports agent baseball mainly. He he's the
baseball sports agent.
Speaker 1 (02:24:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:24:32):
Craziness, man, it's a lot of money. That's a lot
of money, all right. Scott was speaking of Scott Borris.
He spoke on the Astros pursuit of Alex Bregman. Let's
talk about it next in sports Stock seven to eighty.
Speaker 1 (02:24:45):
This is the Sean Salisbury show sales. That's beautiful.
Speaker 4 (02:24:52):
This is uh okay, let me preface it. Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:24:56):
Chandler Roam tweeted this out and it says, in your
discussions what the Astros, you get the sense that they
are serious about pursuing a reunion with Alex Bregman and
are willing to exceed some precedents that have existed during
Jim Crane's ownership tenure. Scott Bors said, quote, they clearly
understand the rarity of being in four World Series and
being in the postseason eight years in a row, in
(02:25:18):
him being a centerpiece of that. They've certainly measured to
me throughout the process. They're actively engaged as to meeting
markets and the demand of this kind of player. You
just don't have many players on the dirt that does
what he does. Also that Bregman could play second base,
third base, his leadership, it's a market certainly that the
Ashros are very aware is very healthy for him.
Speaker 4 (02:25:35):
End quote. I had a way to talk to your
client up big dog.
Speaker 1 (02:25:39):
His job.
Speaker 5 (02:25:41):
Get your client. You think he's coming back more of
a chance to go to their current team, him or
Soto Soto Really yeah, even like what's going to be
more than double the price?
Speaker 4 (02:25:55):
Is there a very healthy market for Alex Bregman for
third base?
Speaker 5 (02:25:58):
I would think probably healthier than you think. Really healthy
may mean three teams with three teams that are willing
to go.
Speaker 4 (02:26:03):
Get a guy with that and pay the big money.
Speaker 5 (02:26:05):
Sure, Listen, it's always a real negotiation or real or
real leverage is having more than one team involved, right,
See the Texans, the Texans, the Astros don't get the
luxury they're they're they're seeing down the one street. We've
got that guy, and we got to deal with all
those other teams. The way it works for Alex reg
when we got all these other teams and then we're
going to come back and deal with you.
Speaker 4 (02:26:27):
So he holds the.
Speaker 1 (02:26:30):
Hammer if you want him that bad, he does. And
bor especially when you hey.
Speaker 5 (02:26:36):
When you're only when you're negotiating against the only team
you can, you know how somebody will say, well, got
one team interested, it's the team you're on that that
becomes an issue. Then the the then the advantage Astros.
But when you got three, four or five teams involved
and they're all willing to go to a different level,
it's hard to beat that.
Speaker 6 (02:26:53):
Man.
Speaker 4 (02:26:53):
That's that's real leverage.
Speaker 3 (02:26:55):
Also, one thing I wanted to get to, Uh We're
gonna discuss a little more tomorrow, maybe off just one segment.
But do you see what Stephen A. Smith said about uh, Tilman,
Furtita and Daryl Morey. He said, this is Stephen A.
Smith quote. One of the things that led to Tilman
Furtita wanting Daryl Moury out of Houston is that they
would literally lose a playoff game or a series and
Darryl would walk up to him with the analytics saying,
(02:27:16):
see we actually won end quote.
Speaker 4 (02:27:21):
Mm hmm, Well that'll usually fracture a relationship.
Speaker 1 (02:27:28):
Huh sure did I told you so?
Speaker 4 (02:27:30):
Right?
Speaker 2 (02:27:31):
Was that?
Speaker 4 (02:27:31):
And I told you so? We won though, Daryl, we
just got eliminated from the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (02:27:36):
Yeah, but we won.
Speaker 4 (02:27:38):
Yeah, we won in losing we won?
Speaker 1 (02:27:40):
Is that what that is?
Speaker 8 (02:27:41):
That?
Speaker 4 (02:27:42):
How that quote supposed to be or something like that
we won quote that I wouldn't use. Well, then they're
no longer on the same team.
Speaker 3 (02:27:48):
Yeah, up in Philly because uh, Joel and b got
suspended three games for shoving a media member.
Speaker 4 (02:27:56):
Would you do it? Not you, but what your meeting member?
What would you do if Joel Embiid pushed you, shoved you,
got in your face. I would like to think that
I'd ask why and try to be try to be
patient with it. I don't have problem with him. Be
Jimmy Kimball pushed me, I'd knock his ass here to
six would right.
Speaker 5 (02:28:14):
Go right back to Hollywood exactly? Now you know I would,
I would try. I would hope that my question wouldn't
warrant here.
Speaker 4 (02:28:20):
Yeah, I wouldn't warrant him to want to push me
get a fight, but I would think he'd probably hopefully
no better. But if he doesn't, and you know, depending
on the questions, I don't bait him, but you ask
if he doesn't like the queen, and I know about
his losing family members, I get all that. I would
hope that i'd have the patience to say, I've been
into long enough not to erupt back right away. But
(02:28:40):
if it was you, if you're talking about.
Speaker 5 (02:28:41):
Happened more than once, it was a continuous thing, like
he just targeted you, well then it'd be a problem,
right exactly. And I eventually get to the point, I'm
not going here. You're nothing more than athletes. So whether
you win or not, it's gonna we're getting after it. Yeah,
there's no doubt. Yeah, of course.
Speaker 4 (02:28:56):
Again, all right, we got Friday tomorrow, boys, good one,
let's go. Let's go, dah, you're breaking up some cuts tomorrow,
especially all about the Texans.
Speaker 3 (02:29:07):
Yeah, yeah, damn right, let's go. As Sean Salisbury triple e.
