After the great weekend of Thanksgiving filled with sports the guys shared light on the Texans loss to the Jags and the great mashup of college football games over the course of the weekend as well. With talks of A&M and UH coaching staff updates

Especially with that beanie on this one, A little chili out about forty two

apparently elected a quarterback, I meana head coach in one city, which
tells me. I mean, well, I love fan bases, but when

you a fan base elects your headcoach. Yeah, well, even though
the guy they are going to hireis really good. Yeah, and Mike
oco here. If it was mychoice, I would get out of the
RPO. Uh. Spread, Imean everybody's in the spread. The that

group of twenty five guys, itfeels like that are the same. They're
run open offenses, spread them out, play fast, all that, all
that can be implemented. Don't misunderstandme what I'm trying to say. But
if you hire from the same tree, you're gonna get the same result.
I'm just telling you you are.You're gonna get minimal defense, big offense.

Physicality, won't be very good.You'll be you'll be a finesse team
through and through yep, and you'llwin seven eight games for the most part.
Now you make you and you're you'rein a bigger conference. I well,
Like I said, there's a lotof really good coaches, but we
get caught up into this. It'sgot to be a thirty something or a

forty year old. It's got tobe a somebody on the new It's got
to be an automatic offensive spread guywho runs the you know stuff that Leach
and Dana and Tom you know someoneand you know what I'm talking about.
Everybody runs. It doesn't have tobe like that if it was me,

and I'm right now, and thisis no disrespect to a program. I
love Chris Pezlan. I think weknew this was coming. Dana had some
good moments, but the inconsistency isnot the level you want moving to the
next one. Now, tell youwhat he did do. He got this
team rolling to the point where theywere highly successful enough to get into the
Big twelve, which was, bythe way, a nice big bonus for

Dana too. Yeah, no question, but he did some good things,
but the standard of consistency just wasn'tthere. I'm not sure. And I'm
gonna say this as loud as Ipossibly can. I'm talking about football right
now. University Houston's not better thanUTSA or two lane. I wouldn't if
I'm Willie Fritz or trailer, JeffTraylor trailer. Yeah, you got to

think that money will come into play. It's in a Big twelve power conference,
which I get, but as afootball program right now, as a
program that what Chris Peesman's doing andnot you know how we feel about uh
love them. I'm talking about themfrom the football aspect. I take two
lane and UTSA six ways to Sundayand twice and it's not an upgrade right

now. No, it's now theconference is the money probably behind it.
It's going to be the facilities allthat I get, and I like that,
but I need somebody who comes inhere. If I'm a uh and
we'll get the A and M andwe got to get to the Texans.
We got a lot. But youdon't just have to hire somebody who's familiar
with the program. Matter of fact, I think quite the opposite, to
be honest with you. Find mesomebody who comes in here and does not

care about the past. The Universityof Houston does not care about it.
I need physical defense with some excitingoffense. But if you're coming in here
with the Big twelve, it's goingto fit in and hey, seven eight
wins because we spread it out ourquarterback through for five thousand yards. All
that doesn't interest me, unless,of course, they can go win it
all. But I got news foryou. They can. I'm just you.

Find me one that preaches the physicalitythat you want on a regular basis
in that system. Whoever it's goingto be, You give me trailer,
you'll win, guys, phenomenal job. Find me somebody who's built something that
wasn't supposed to be built right andcome here and build that. Find me
that guy. Know you talk aboutthese coaching trees. We discussed this before.
You talk about the coaching trees andthe carousel and things like that.

Overrated. Isn't that what A andM's doing? Yeah, well listen to
me. Let me tell you.Ilko was the defensive courting or two years
ago. He's familiar with the program. Yeah, and he's in the player.
He's good. Don't get right exactly. I don't like whether you like
Stoops or not. I could careless about Mark. Stoops is very abrasive,
in your face, brash kind.Well, the truth is he's got
some rabbit ears like Jimbo Fisher did. But he's a hell of a football

coach. Look what I mean.They went out there and put it on.
They gave Louisville all they they wantedand physically, and the one thing
about him is he likes physical defensivefootball. Point is, I love exciting
on offense. But there's no templatethat says you got to hire from Andy
Reid's tree that didn't work real goodfor Matt and Aggy. There's no template

that says you got to hire fromthe Sean McVay, Matt Lafleur, that
Cliff Kingsbury, Lincoln Riley Tree.As much as I like him, the
fact of the matter is it doesn'talways have to be the Zach Taylors and
Kevin O'Connell's. Those guys are greatdoing their thing. But my point is,

it's okay to go get a guylike Willie Fritz. It's okay to
go get a guy like Jeff Trailer. It's okay to go get a guy
like Mike Elkoho's on the defensive side, and I'll hire good. I don't
know who the answer is for theseprograms, but like a University Houston,
if you want, if you're gonnago get one of these guys, there's
got to be a lot of moneyand commit it to a program. Because

what used to be a bridge programused to come to University Houston to get
to a bigger program. Now there'sa Big twelve, there a Power five.
This is the hell of a program. Dana Holsen Holger say this was
like his dream gig. So whoeveryou hire, do the interview process.
It doesn't need to be somebody.Hey, he's got University of Houston ties
in the tree. Okay, wellthat tree's worked out real well for Bill

Belichick. There's one dude and hestruggled recently, Mike Rabel And he's not
even from the tree. He justplayed for him. So you don't have
to go. University Houston's mo isto go get the guys who coached you.
Got that automatically. You come toHouston. You've got to be in
a spread, throw it constantly andkind of play defense. And if your

quarterback's not playing well, he's notvery good, switch two or three times,
go to the transfer portal. Hopefullyget some guys and win eight games.
That to me, if that's allyou're expecting to do, I can
find any swinging unit to win sevengames. A year. I can,
and maybe not in the Big twelve, but you can. You should be
able to go win seven a year. I know that's not Chris Peesman of
the University's goal or Texas A andM for that matter. So I know

there's a lot to discuss. Itwill dive the into it. But and
Chris Peesman will. I don't knowthe athletic director at Texas A and M,
but I do know that Chris Pesmanwill do the due diligence and Listen,
there's a lot of programs that wouldhave liked. Oh, Dana Bull
eligible sometimes not the other times donesome good things. Dada is good football
coach. You didn't forget out ofcoach. Things just didn't go well,

it's time for a change. Whateverit is they didn't get the buy in
the last few years, whether it'sgetting the transfer portal, its recruiting right,
getting the right quarterback who whatever itis. But you don't just have
to go to hey, let's goget that guy because he comes from Listen,
Andy Reid's tree ain't Andy Reid.Just so you understand, Bill Walsh's

tree ain't Bill Walsh. Okay,now there's some good coaching philosophies, but
they're not all great leaders. Itstarts there, Bill, get me that
guy who isn't just out to putup numbers and do it and go get
me somebody who knows how to winchampionships and beat you the right way.
Those guys last so and they're doingit with Trailer, they're doing it with
Willie Fritz. Find me a guywho's taking program that didn't supposed to win

and he's turned it around and gotbuy in like you saw d on the
first three or four weeks. Nowthey didn't one much later, but who
knows if he's staying around, buthe hires Warren Sap that he at least
got people to listen. And onceyou get Peter to listen, it tells
me you know how to lead withoutbegging to tell you when you got to
go somebody say hey, I'm agreat leader. Guess what you're not,
and you're probably not a great leader. The leadership comes without saying, just

by the way you walk into aroom. So let it start that way.
Here, I listen, I canfind you a million guys right now
that can walk in here, andthat I've been to think tanks and the
rest of it that can sit hereand draw you up place I could,
I could a million of them.We all sit in a room. I
can hand pick you right now andsay, this guy can draw up any
play you want, from the spread, from the RPO, inside zone,
outside zone, a vertical passing game. Well, we've all seen it all.

I can draw up any place.The question is how to apply them,
How to get a good staff,how to develop players? Can you
lead them to make them do stuffthat they wouldn't normally? Do? Find
that guy and if you just getme a guy who goes out and throws
for five thousand yards as a coachand and sometimes plays dinners removed from the
defense, because don't give me thatguy, because you know what, you'll
fire him in five years too.And at A and M. You better

pick up your offense. You betterget recruiting, and you better add some
frigging toughness, physical toughness on theright side of the ball and both sides
punch him in the mouth. Defensedid this year? They better find it
off. There's too many good recruitsthere for us. Every week say well,
well who's A and M? Yeah, right, who's A and M?
Right? They get too many goodrecruits for that excuse, you don't

need to be oh, well,he's affiliate with Aggie Football or Trojan I
don't need anybody affiliated with Trojan footballto know what it takes to win with
all this different realignment. Go finda guy who isn't caught up in this
is what we do. And I'mremoved for the fire me a guy who
coaches a team, not coaches theside of the ball. Does that make

sense? Yeah, yep. We'regonna get to college football in the eight
o'clock hour, starting right there ateight o'clock this morning, we'll talk about

to sign his new deal. Bythe way, University of Houston they lost
this past Saturday to UCF twenty seventhirteen. They finished their season first one

set to hire Mike Elko as theirnext head coach. We got tons of
football to get into. Let's startwith these Houston Texans. They lose to
the Jags yesterday. Uh Mondola attemptsa fifty eight yard field goal to tie

it to try to force overtime,joint right off the crossbar. No good.
They fall twenty four to twenty one. C Jy Stroud threw for over
four hundred yar excuse me, threehundred yards once again, but it was
not enough. Stroud twenty six tothirty six, three hundred and four yards,
two touchdowns. Trevor Lawrence twenty threeto thirty eight, three hundred and

sixty four yards, one touchdown andan interception. See j. Stroud led
the rushing attack. Sean, It'sprobably not ideal when your quarterback is leading
the rushing attack. It's a tough, tough, hard fought game. But
yet they lose twenty four to twentyone. What did you think about Stroud's
performance yesterday. I thought it wasa solid performance. I think that there

was some calls and decisions it probablycould have been made difference different. I
do not like the balls in hishands. I don't like the two play
sequence of pushing the ball twenty plusyards down the field on third down and
what lesson the yard. Yeah,I also do not like. It's not
high percentage. And quite frankly,I'll tell you this, unless you've got

a lot of time and you're goingto get the ball back three or four
more times in that situation on fourthdown, do not throw a low percentage
fade route again with a tight end. That is not the specialty of what
they do. Whether it was thedecision. Now you get man coverage,
I get it, but you needfour more swings at it, or at
least an opportunity to move the balland have two more swings or one more

throw. I did not like.It's one thing that people automatically think with
the dial up a play that whenBobby Slowe calls a play and you know
it goes throughout and we'll get tothe referees here in a second, it
goes throughout. You call a playthat it's a one man read. No,
it's not a one man read.So the question is, was was

Schultz the third go to guy toget him on the fade route? Should
we have gone somewhere else with thefootball? What was his progressions? Did
slow just call because he wanted torun a t That's not your high percentage
play in that. I understand onfirst down taking a shot, I do
get a mismatch a slower, biggerguy on a tight end. That said,

have to lead your team and catches, go go get take a shot.
Just do it smart. But onfourth down, can't throw you cannot,
you can absolutely cannot. Less thecorner falls down, You cannot throw
a fade route to a tight endon fourth down lesson he yard your yard,
you can't do it. So whateverplay caller was, matter of fact,
you take that out of the equation. Call that on early downs where

you got a shot for a mismatchI need. I don't care if it's
a sprint right on the run.Now, I thought his feet were great
yesterday he used his feet. Ididn't think it was as clean a pocket.
They looked like they struggled with protections. I saw one time where Josh
Allen, the edge rusher, hemade tons Will look like he was sitting

in concrete. Late in the game, I think they went back to back
sacks. It was Island come fromthe from the defensive right end and he
he just he just punked him.So I think the protection and how I
went about the protection was at timessuspect. Yesterday. I know there's a

can't call him. There were someThe call on Nelson when they called holding
coming out for Jacksonville was a horriblecall. Awful, he didn't even touch
him. Awful, And yet yetthere were calls. The truth is on
a couple of calls that fans werebooing at, they got them right,
but they missed him. They missedhim on both sides because it was a
blatant What I'm trying to build inhere is it, let's not walk out

of this and be like some otherfan base. Does it make excuses for
losing a game that the referees hadit in for you. The referee sucked
all across the league yesterday. Yeit's embarrassing. That, Oh, it's
an easy job. And if you'rea referee listening, I'm not talking to
you, unless, of course youread in the game yesterday. If you're
a referee listeners, well, Sean, you know how hard it is.
Yeah, a matter of fact,I actually do know how hard it is,

having watched them have to deal withit. And I wouldn't want their
job. But guess what, Idon't get paid to do be called an
expert at my job as a referee. They can't do my job either.
Okay, they probably have a betterchance of doing my job than I do
it theirs, and that's a fact. They're probably more adept to coming in
here doing my job like I amand you are to talk sports than we
would be to go referee a game. I don't want any part of it.

But if you're out there and you'remaking that money and you're there to
be judged if we if we seeyou missed a bunch of calls in this
game all across but both ways,and it felt to me though, as
the broadcast crew, it felt tome that the broadcast crew had a wild
hair for Jacksonville. They did,it was right, It was really weird,
just like no offense. I'm goingto tell you now, there's two

things that go on, and youknow Nance and Romo. I love them
both. I've known Jim forever andTony four. I love them both.
But I'm okay to to to criticizewhen Essa first off, and we'll get

allowing that on TV, because Idon't even know what he's saying when he's
got that kind of suit on.It was quite frankly off. That was

the worst thing I saw all week, and worse than the refs. That
suit makes it like he's a brightguy, too good analyst. I don't
even have. I couldn't even focuson what he's saying. The suit was
so god awful that I couldn't evenget to his mouth okay to hear what

the fan base says we now,you criticize a way we should because they

were frigging awful. You get paidthat kind of money to go referee a
game, you got to get moreright than that. But the the was

There are some bad calls. Thebroadcast team felt to me like they couldn't
wait for Jacksonville to win and Iand those guys are good. I mean,
they give some good insight, butit almost felt as if they weren't
buying into what the Texans now.They love some C. J. Stratton,
Tobikole Ryant. I'm talking about overall, And if you watch the Philly
game against Buffalo, I could tellyou this old Dallas cowboy, he loves

himself some Buffalo and he trying toPhilly was difficult on him to Tony's good,
but you could tell. I canalways tell when a broadcasters leaning somewhere
and he thinks Josh Allen hung themoon, which is fine at times it
looks like he's hung the moon,but when you're listening to that, sometimes
that frustration and jumps into well thereferees, like I said, I think

Tiki Barb was it Tiki or yeah? Tek bar and Matt Ryan did do
a hell of a job. Butit felt to me the energy felt Jacksonville
energy. I get it, Idon't I don't like it. I think
you're supposed to to keep that partout of it. And you could tell
that the energy for I thought inthe afternoon game, which was a hell
of a game, that there wasa lot of energy for Buffalo when Philly
is quite frankly the best team infootball. So and their resilience is amazing.

So let's not be the fan base. Hey complain and bitch all we
want, but let's not be thefan base that blames a loss strictly unofficials,
because that wasn't the case. BecauseI'm gonna tell you they gave up
way too many big plays in thesecondary, way too many the back end.
You can't give up four plays offorty plus yards or more. You
just can't do it. You justcannot do it. So when you're giving

up big chunk plays like that,So I thought Stroud was solid. His
poison ability to come back after amistake and to lead his team back is
uncanny. And his feet are somuch better than people give him credit for.
Guy's a hell of a player.So listen, you got Beatbatch once
again, they're in position their gameout of home field. Advanced about the

playoffs, meaning jackson a good team. Referees were not good yesterday up and
down the slate and awful in thisone. Because we're local, we saw
it. But that is not thereason they lost the game. Because they
got a couple of calls and wenttheir way that if you're a Jacksonville fan,
you'd say that was awful. Iget it, and will trust me

that Jacksonville. The broadcast team letus know on the slant route just how
heinous they thought that call was forabout twenty five minutes. Yeah, okay,
so they wouldn't let it go right, No, of course they wouldn't,
so I get it. But itwas you got it. Those are
the games you got to close outto win divisions, and they couldn't do
it at home. And I getit. Jacksonville's good and Trevor Lawrence had
a hell of a game. Thesimilarities being between the two impressive because they

both can beat you with their feet, they can throw it from the pocket,
and they both have a propensity tomake big plays. I thought there
was a few throws that would normallymake that were missed and I thought that
the protection broke down a little bitmore than I would have liked. But
listen, Josh, they get afterit up front. Now, that's a
good football team. So took aloss, but that doesn't mean anything other

than that it's a loss. Now, you got to move on. Schedule
favors you. Jacksonville's they're gonna getbeat again. Yeah, so you got
an opportunity to jump back in yesterdaywould have been monumental as far as yeah,
getting themselves in a great position.They fell short, as did the
referees, and as did the refereesin a lot of games yesterday. But
that's not the reason. Through afour quarter game that the only reason you
lost. The Texans gave up toomany explosive plays to the Jaguars. Head

And Jacksonville is a really good team. They are eight and three now
