Speaker 1 (00:00):
Eight forty four thirteen ten wuiv A Your twenty seven
storm track forecast Clouds day A high thirty seven currently
thirty six with clouds here thirteen ten wiv A hanging
out in studio this morning with Kevin Flork. He is
the CEO at Toluri and Kevin, How you bad?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I've been really good? Thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
I always want to say Florian because it's Lurian.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah, kind of ryme.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
That's kinder.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
It's good to have you in studio. You probably guessed
along by the way, just because I'm easily distracted.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Who'd you bring along today?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah? I brought along. Swartz. He is the He was
donated by Fairway Mortgage here in Madison. They paid to
have him trained and then custom k nines and did
the training and he is our chief Happiness Officer and
he works with folks that are struggling with withdrawal anxiety depression.

(00:48):
So he'll go to the different programs and literally, if
you're having an anxiety attack, he'll come and put his
paw on you. Or if you're ready to get you know,
act out and get angry, he'll pick up his leash
and have you take them for a while.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Fantastic.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
So it's really cool.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
There are a few things more calming than a dog.
I'll tell you that as I look forward every day
when I get home sitting on the couch with our
dog as well, that's fantastic. Let's talk about of course,
we've got the big not a Galic Gala coming up
on Friday, February twenty eighth, But before we get to that,
I want to talk about Tulurian. For folks that don't
know what you guys do at Tulurian, let's get a

(01:24):
little bit of background and currently where things sit at Telurian.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yeah. So Tilarian is located mostly here in Madison, and
believe it or not, we serve over eight thousand people
annually that people that are suffering from mental illness, addiction,
and homeless services. And we're really proud of the work
we do. We are duly credentialed with both mental health

(01:50):
and addiction for all our programs, which really helps our
outcomes because we treat both mental health and addiction simultaneously
and we have twenty two programs that help people in
need right here mostly in Dan County.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
What's the I know you guys have a fantastic facility.
It's got to be having a place like that for
people to go has got to be a great benefit.
Previous to that, how how did things work at Telurian
How before you guys had your and I feel I
talk like it's a brand new building, but it's been
it's been probably a decade.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah, for our main facilities, the Teresa McGovern Center, which
was named after I'm Jeorgie McGovern's daughter, Teresa, who tragically
lost her battle with alcoholism and depression. She froze to
death probably over twenty five years ago, leaving the Crystal Corner.
So but out of that tragedy, we built a facility

(02:48):
right here in Madison that serves people in need.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
So that's fantastic. And by the way, as we talked
this morning with Kevin, if you want to learn more
of the website for Tulurian, it's Telurian dot org. That's
spelled t e l l e u a ia n
Tilurian dot org. And Kevin, one of the things I
love about Tilurian is the positivity and also the opportunity
to help a great organization. And you guys make it

(03:15):
fun and I'm looking at your fifth annual Tilurian and
not a gala that's going to be taking place Friday,
February twenty eighth at the Concourse Hotel here in town.
It doesn't get much more fun in Wisconsin, Charlie Barns,
And you've got Charlie coming to your event, don't.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Yes, we have Charlie coming to our event, which is
awesome and we do We talked about this before we
went on air. Tilarian does two events. We do a
celebrity golf tournament in the summer and now we do
the Tilarian Nata gal in the winter. And we need
to do this because the need for services are so great,

(03:51):
but the funding for services is so poor, So we
truly need the help of the community to help us
serve people in need. Our waiting lists are long and
so we scratch and claw to do anything we can
to help people in need. And what's cool about the
Nata Gala. It's a great way to have fun, raise

(04:11):
some money, raise awareness, reduce the stigma. And if you're
talking fun, Charlie Barons is our master MC comedian for
the nights so and right at the Madison Concourse. So
we are just pumped to have Charlie and celebrate and

(04:31):
raise some funds.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
And some other big names. Gilbert Brown I saw also
going to be participating in silent Auction.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Also silent Auction, Live auction, plenty of fun. We're doing
poll tabs. It's a Northwood supper club theme. As you
can imagine with having Charlie, that's going to be our theme.
So we're gonna do Shake of the Day, so different
dice games and poll tabs and you name it. When
it comes to supper clubs. So we tell folks where

(05:00):
your flannel, where your Northwoods boots and swampers, and it's
it's very informal but really fun.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
It should be a real fun night. Individuals. Tickets for couples. Also,
I've got to guess a lot of businesses in the
area by buying Bulker.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Yeah, so we are really close to selling out, which
is amazing and as you can imagine having someone like
Charlie Barn's, it doesn't take long to sell it out.
But we do have some individual tickets available. But yeah,
a lot of the corporations jumped in right away, one
because they want to see Charlie, but two they support
the work that Tillarian does. And when you talk about supporting,

(05:40):
and like I just mentioned with Schwartz our dog there
there isn't a bigger supporter than Fairway Mortgage located right
here in Madison. But also some other really big sponsors
if you don't mind love to highlight them. Tricor Insurance
and Harker Heating and Cooling are our presenting sponsors, and

(06:02):
Greenwood State Bank and Prairie Shades and Shutters are our
beverage sponsor where we're going to have full fashions instead
of old fashions is our signature drinks. And our auction
sponsors are Sullivan Charitable Fund and cru Concrete. And our
game sponsor is GRB Academy right here and located in

(06:25):
some prairie. And when it comes to baseball lessons, they're
the folks to go to. And then kind of a
cool thing at the end of the night, Chick fil
A is going to be giving everybody free free food
at the end of the night. So yes, so you
gotta love that.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Come hungry, come thirsty, that's right, yep, be ready for it,
ready for a good laugh. And what a great cause
this is going to be. I guess we taken place Friday,
February twenty eighth. Limited number of tickets still available. You
can purchase them online to Lurian dot org slash Gala Gala,
I always want to say gala.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Yeah, I'm not sure which one is feels very right
exactly And iHeart also our media sponsor, which that's a
big shout out to you guys and thirteen ten And.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
I know some of those folks are pretty decent, decent.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
There's some really good folks that will be there.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Yeah, that'll be a lot of fun. And I know
we're obviously we're the weather. I think a lot of
us are itching for spring. You mentioned the golf outing,
you mentioned some of Kevin, some of the different events
that you guys do at Tulurian. For folks that say,
you know what, I just want to make an impact.
There's other ways to donate as well. Also, aren't there well.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Sure people can go online? And like I said previously,
I can't stress enough how many people are calling us
for help and they're just isn't the funding. As you
can imagine, if you are suffering from addiction and mental
health issues. A lot of times folks that we see
have lost their job, they've lost insurance. So we do

(07:55):
these two events because we as a company need to
do more to help people in need. And we invite
folks that anybody who wants to volunteer money and or
time please reach out to us because we'll take every
bit of help we can. Yeah, that's gocy too.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
About as we talk about, you know, the different programs
offered at Tilurian a lot of success and obviously when
we talk about mental health or we talk about addiction
issues a lot of times for good reason, people want
to and I know it's probably kind of a fine
line want to remain anonymous or want to kind of
you know, get back to normal living. So we don't

(08:31):
always get to see or hear firsthand some of those
success stories because of again some of the things involved.
But you get to see this every day. You get
to witness every single day people going through recovery and
people really getting their lives back. It's it's it's a
huge again, maybe something that people don't always notice, but
you get to see it is a it is a
it has a real huge impact on lives, doesn't it.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Well, part of the reason we go on shows like
yours or do events is because we need to reduce thist.
We know that mental health and addiction is a medical condition. Unfortunately,
though with those two diseases, people are afraid to get
the help because they get judged. But we also know

(09:14):
that through the counseling, through our medical director, through our addictionologist,
our psychiatrist, our psychologists, our master's degree, folks, there is
a great chance that people's life become much better. And
I can't encourage folks enough to reach out to get
the help they need because it works, it really does.

(09:37):
People's lives can become a heck of a lot better.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
So can people contact Laurian if they if they are
someone to hear about.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Yeah, so I would encourage folks to call our local
number six oh eight two two two seven three one one.
Also go to our website Telarian dot org. And I
want to spill it one more time because people butcher it.
It's teas and Tom ell you in ralph Ia. N
is in Nancy dot org and you can check out

(10:05):
all our services there. We've got a brand new website
that twofold Marketing just put together for us that we're
really proud about. And if you want to get involved
in the gala. I'm just Tellarian dot org backslash gala,
fairly simple and we're there to help.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
So anytime, great night for a great cause. Again, it's
gonna be taking place Friday, February twenty eighth at the
Madison Concourse Hotel right here in Madison. Doors open at
five up North Supper Clubs. The theme Charlie Barrens is
going to be there, Gilbert Brown's going to be there,
Grave Digger. Yep, Kevin, You're going to be there.

Speaker 2 (10:37):

Speaker 1 (10:39):
