Speaker 5 (01:41):
This is game two of this WCCHA.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Series between the Golden Gophers of Minnesota and the Wisconsin
Badgers in the Border Battle, and of Minnesota dominated the
game and won by a score of five to one
over the Wisconsin Badgers. In that game last night, it
stopped the number of streaks. Wisconsin had won seven in

(02:07):
a row over Minnesota. They had been unbeaten in their
last twenty three games, and they had a thirty seven
game streak where they had not been defeated. All of
those ended, as did their record here at Lebond of
being twenty seven to zho to one in their last

(02:27):
twenty eight games. One of the key issues for the
Wisconsin Badgers is injuries.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
It's part of the game, yes, it is. Every team
has to go through that.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Last year when the Badgers won the National Championship, they
had very few injuries.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Now it's a different story.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
And out of the lineup right now is Shaffle, Volley
Bova and also Laney Potter. We are receiving word that
Ava Murphy will not play. That's another down defensively for
the Badgers, meaning that Harvey, Edwards, Jungles, and Venusio they're

(03:10):
probably gonna have to play more than thirty to forty
minutes because about as deep as they can go. They've
got a couple of a freshman and a sophomore listed
as fifth and sixth on defense. The big question though,
is Mark Johnson told me the decision on Ava McNaughton.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
In goal will be made during the warm ups.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
There's a possibility she may not play. Watching her in
the warm up, she seemed to be okay. So what
kind of a game will this one be? Minnesota is
a very good club. They are ten and one on
the year, same record as the Wisconsin Badgers. Brad Frost

(03:55):
is their coach. Will visit with him.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
During the intermission of a period number one and two.

Speaker 12 (05:14):
Plays Alcome the pregame show Paul Brown with you w
Women's Hockey coach Mark Johnson, Well Mark, the streets are
over and that kind of thing.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
It's only one.

Speaker 13 (05:27):
Game and what did you learn from that game?

Speaker 14 (05:31):
Well, I think the first thing you take away is
that you know there were parts of the game that
we're really good at, and then there are parts that
you know we made mistakes and shot ourselves in the foot.

Speaker 15 (05:42):
A couple of times.

Speaker 14 (05:43):
But you know, they got good players, they got a
good team, and if you're going to have a chance
to beat these team, you have to play for sixty minutes.
And you know, after forty minutes, you know, I was
comfortable about, you know, a twenty minute game on one,
you know who's going to end.

Speaker 16 (05:56):
And they just they outplayed us for you to probably.

Speaker 14 (05:58):
Fourteen to fifteen minutes that third period, which you know
is a challenged us as far as you know how
we're going to come out today.

Speaker 16 (06:04):
So the first ten.

Speaker 14 (06:05):
Minutes to me, if today's games really going to indicate
you know how we're you know we handle the challenge
because you know, they were better than us.

Speaker 16 (06:13):
In the third period.

Speaker 13 (06:14):
What did you do well in that game?

Speaker 15 (06:16):
Mark?

Speaker 14 (06:16):
Well, the second period, I mean you looked at the
game again, I mean we probably could have scored I
don't know, six eight nine goals in that second period.
We had twenty three shots. You know, we didn't have
a power play.

Speaker 16 (06:26):
And you get that many.

Speaker 15 (06:27):
Shots and that many looks.

Speaker 16 (06:28):
You know, you give their goaltender credit. She made stays
when she needed to kept the game.

Speaker 14 (06:32):
That won nothing, and then we give up a four
on four goal. You know, late in the period to
make it one one. But you know, that's part of
the game, and you know, the big thing is you
got to come out and you know, I'm not sure
why that the puck was brought into our zone on
the face off, because it was an off side on us,
and I'm trying to figure that one out. And the
next thing, you know, it's in the back of the net,
and it just changed the whole moment of the game.

(06:54):
And you know, then we make a neutral zone error
and the girl walks in all alone, makes a nice
teak and all of a sudden, you know that have
won one, now three one, and now they got momentum,
and we didn't handle.

Speaker 16 (07:03):
That part of it well.

Speaker 14 (07:04):
We started, you know, playing on our heels, and they
were moving. They changed the momentum, and you know, at
times we didn't look very good. So that's the challenge
today if you learn from what happened yesterday, especially in
the third period, how well we responded. I'm anxious to watch.

Speaker 13 (07:18):
She's very good on the first save.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
So what do you try to do, Claudet in front
of her, get their eyes in a position where she can't,
so you shoot lower or left.

Speaker 14 (07:27):
Well, yeah, as you maybe keep it away from her
glove and her block, or yesterday she made a bunch
of different saves. I mean she made one on Cassie
Hall in the second pill that was watching this morning,
It's like, wow, that that's a special save and know
that keeps it. Still want nothing, and so you know
with goalies that are playing well, yeah, you know, Tippins
get her eyes, look for rebound and she pucks at

(07:47):
her paths with.

Speaker 16 (07:48):
Great rebounds and then you have to crash the net.
And you know, they did a good job of covering.

Speaker 14 (07:52):
And again you know it's one of those down we
get chances. Down, they come, they get chances, and we
ended up with over forty shots.

Speaker 16 (08:00):
They were close to forty shots. It was sort of
like fire away and hockey. They're going down, We're going down.
But at times he looked really good.

Speaker 14 (08:06):
I showed the team this morning and clips of you know,
when we're playing well, here's here's what it looks like.

Speaker 16 (08:11):
We're not playing well, here's what it looks like. And
so let's do more of this and less of that.

Speaker 13 (08:15):
When they're not playing well, what are they need improving up?

Speaker 16 (08:19):
Well?

Speaker 14 (08:19):
Just playing one on one and recognizing your coverage and
our defensive zone, and you can't stand and watch when
they're you know, chipping pucks in and they're playing with speed.

Speaker 15 (08:29):
You can't.

Speaker 14 (08:29):
You know, you've got to be committed to your one
on one and make sure you don't get beat, and
you know, try to take the momentum and make sure,
you know, it really becomes important as far as managing
the puck dens. If you're not managing the pucket, they
just keep coming at you, They keep coming at them.
They're probably you know, several minutes in that second period, that's.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
What it looked like.

Speaker 16 (08:48):
And so you know, we get to the media time
out at ten minutes.

Speaker 14 (08:51):
You know, you try to refocus on some things and
try to really take care of the puck and you know,
hopefully well and execute that better today for sixty minutes.

Speaker 16 (08:59):
I mean, we did a bunch of good things yesterday,
but not enough of them for as long as we
need to.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
They were really aggressive around in that and it seemed
like they were very physical as that there.

Speaker 16 (09:09):
Yeah, they've got some big bodies.

Speaker 14 (09:11):
They were moving well, and you know, we have to
do a better job of recognizing those situations.

Speaker 16 (09:17):
As far as your coverage and your defensive zone.

Speaker 14 (09:19):
So the big thing we emphasized yesterday was face offs,
and you know, we won fifty three percent of them.

Speaker 16 (09:24):
But what we talked about today is we want to be.

Speaker 14 (09:27):
Engaged more in face offs when the puck drops and younit,
you got to go hunt that puck down.

Speaker 16 (09:32):
Don't let them get the puck.

Speaker 14 (09:33):
And if we can win those fifty to fifty battles
with a high percentage, you know we're going to have
the puck more. We're a puck possessing team, and yesterday
we got a little bit of a lesson on not
doing a very good job playing without the puck.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
What did you see in Edwards and Sims in terms
of coming back in the lineup? Were they okay in
your mind? But they're not back obviously to one hundred
per cent.

Speaker 16 (09:53):
No, you know, it looked like they had missed, you know,
several weeks.

Speaker 14 (09:56):
And you know, Leila did a bunch of really good
things yesterday and then some things that you know you
can get away with a practice, but you know in
the game, when you're playing against a team like Minnesota,
you're not going to get away with stuff.

Speaker 16 (10:07):
So for those kids, it's more about you know when
you get the pup, know the next play.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
From lebon Arena along with Mark Greenhall, I'm Paul Brown
set to bring you Game two of this WCCHA series
between the Golden Gophers of Minnesota and the Wisconsin Badgers.
Ava McNaughton will be the goaltender for Wisconsin this afternoon.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
That's the good news.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Ava Murphy, one of their better defensemen, is out of
the lineup. They join shapeau Volivobo who's out along with
Potter who's out. So the Badgers shorthanded, and the opening
line is right Scandal and Eden for the Badgers against Murphy.
Finale and Lindsey of Minnesota and the dran comes over

(12:03):
to Vivian Jungles. She fires it ahead and tried to
lead it on the playover to Eden and it slides
in on the goaltender Clark, and she put it away
and made the save. And I'll tell you what, Hannah Clark,
She's gonna make that first save in most occasions. So
you got to get some eyes, some traffic in front
of her. Maybe shoot low huh yep.

Speaker 18 (12:25):
She squares up, well, you gotta take her eyes away
and hope for a redirect.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
And there's Harvey with a.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Scannal gets the goal for the Wisconsin Badgers fourteen seconds
into the game. Scannal scores goal number six for her
and number fourteen of the Badgers, gives the team a
one to nothing lead.

Speaker 18 (12:52):
Boy oh boy, what a way to start it, huh,
especially after on the heels yesterday, And that was kind
of almost like a redirect as I mentioned, But that
does a lot for Scandal's confidence as well. Beautiful goal.
Way to start the game.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Number fourteen, Maggie Scanneal getting her sixth goal of the
year and the Badgers have a big lead of one.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
That seems like a big lead right now.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
And assisted by KK Harvey and Vivian Jungles on the goal.
So there's a nice start for the Badgers. Coming back
into the line. Wisconsin will turn the line now of
Cassie Hall, Sims and Gorbatanco were out still in the
Badger zone in Minnesota.

Speaker 5 (13:37):
Very good on the fore check.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Yeah, they're aggressive and they'll play it back down in
the corner, going back over to pick it up back
in behind the Gopher net. Badgers with pressure, the Gophers
will turn on the near boards and they'll bring it
out to center ice. It goes to boobing booving, comes
in over the line. Kaiser and Nelson are out with her.
Wisconsin's Leyley Edwards with it and tipping it ahead. Gorba

(14:02):
Tankle went down, tried to play it ahead, but it's
held in Moral with it around on the far side,
Minnesota dumping it off the stick of Lightening. Wisconsin turns
and up comes McCarthy. They'll drive it in behind the net.
Lightening over to pick it up quickly. Badger's for checking
and four check is Hannah Halverson out with Pricard and

(14:26):
McCarthy on the forward line.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Play in the neutral zone.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
It's going to be dumped back down on the Gopher's
zone and Lightening goes back of it to pick it up.
Lighting and turns, tries to get help bring it out
from the near corner. Badger's in front, Hannah back over
shot right on and that was fired, and the puck
is going to be played around on the far boards,
Wisconsin taking a drive. Jungles had been the one to

(14:53):
fire it, and it's played back in behind. Then at
Wisconsin trying to hold the Gophers in the zone. Minnesota
turns and out they come. They play it in over
the blue line. Posoba is out with her line mates
of christ and Della Sandro. There's a shot deflected wide
by Ava McNaughton, played at the point on the left side.

(15:16):
Another drive toward the net, badger's block that they'll come
up ice in over the blue line of the Gophers.
They set it up. It's eating with a pucked backand
or right on and the save is made. Minnesota clears
they come up. Wisconsin brings it back end of the line.
Here's Eden Aiden tried to go to the backhander, played

(15:37):
it to the point to Benusio, who dumps it down
and rims around the boards to the right boards in
the corner, and Wisconsin with pressure moves it out in front.

Speaker 7 (15:47):
Shut it down Kurston.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
Sims gets a beautiful path and fires home or six
doll of the year, and Wisconsin leads it two to
nothing two forty two into the first period.

Speaker 18 (16:04):
I'll tell you what, Paul, Our aggressive cod checking is
paying off dividends right away. As you saw uh what's
her name out? Jeez uh? Paul go down deep, get
the puck and slide it to the slot to Sims
for a quick wrister and a goal.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Beautiful man nice start for the Badgers here in the
first period. Wisconsin has scored sixteen goals in the first period,
Minnesota has scored eleven and coming up ice controlling it.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
Gophers come in over the line.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Here's Abby Murphy pulling it up, firing a shot, then
pulled the trigger and it went high and wide. Minnesota
with pressure. Avas saves it and there's pressure in front
of the Wisconsin net. Sixteen fifty two. Remitting in the
first period, Sims with her sixth goal of the year
for the Wisconsin Badgers and coming over to try and

(16:58):
pick it up. And the play continues in over the
line as Minnesota down to buy a couple of goals.
Shots are five to one in the game. Badgers have
come out very fired up here after that loss of
five to one last night. Wisconsin will turn and they've
had man it or toward the line of Minnesota carried

(17:20):
back in over controlling it. It's Moro playing it back
of the Badger net. Great pace here in the yearly
part of the game. Yeah, it is quick and coming
up ice controlling it down on the corner on the
left side. Sixteen oh nine remaining in the period, Minnesota
will turn and they'll come out of their own zone.
Both teams at full strength, Blake by the Gophers whistle

(17:42):
and action is going.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
To be stopped.

Speaker 18 (17:45):
Well, I tell you one thing is the aggressive Ford
check has been huge, rather obvious with a two goal
production already in the first few minutes. But I like
the fact that as we come back, we're aware of
where their players are positioned on the ice and it
enables us to defend better. We got to cover them.
They get loose and you're in trouble.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Cassie Hall and Gorbatanco got assists on that second goal.
The scandal got the first goal for the Wisconsin Badgers,
and that came from Harvey and Jungles so Wisconsin two
five on five goals.

Speaker 18 (18:25):
Yeah, getting that puck out of the zone is key too.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
And coming up ice hears Eden with it comes in
over the line.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Eden in the slot trying to get off a shot,
is in right around the boards, back down in behind
the nap, play in the corner over to try and
pick it up to play along the back wall in
the Minnesota zone. Gophers look to set it up and
bring it out of the zone and controlling it, comes
in over the line and moving it in, trying to
get the drive was Nelson turned and fired it toward

(18:54):
the nap and back is Leyley edwards along the boards
and she'll go behind the that of Wisconsin plays it
around over to KK Harvey, whoa that got intersect the
turtle flecked away by ava On Dela Sandro firing it
right on is Kk's pass went to her stick and
it's back over and back in behind the that is Harvey.

(19:17):
Harvey off on the far side, will lift it out
towards center ice and the Gophers will carry it back
into the line.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
Jordan with it.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Jordan coming back in the play. It comes to the
point gorbatanko over to try and pick it up. KK
Hall with it turned and played it out. The backhanded
pass goes to Sims up the right wing. Sims and
Gorbatanco move it in and it's all the way back
to the line of Wisconsin on the far boards. The
Gophers dump it in and then to pick it up,

(19:47):
chase it down in the corner, comes around and Gorbatanco
will backhand it out. Play in the neutral zone comes
over to the near side. Minnesota down two to nothing
with fourteen minutes remitting in the period, hand it off
side is going to be called boy.

Speaker 18 (20:03):
I tell you, Paul, the fans are getting their money's
worth right away out the gate here today with this
quick pace by both teams.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Badger's scoring two goals, Cassie Hall getting one assist, her
fifth of the year, and Gorbatanko picking up an assist
that's her ninth of the year on the goal that
was scored by Kirsten Sims, her sixth of the year.
So scannal scores are six Sims scores or six Badgers

(20:34):
score Let's see early in the game and also two
forty two into the period, and it's going to be
moved in. Look out, there's a drive that went wide
and men behind by finale around deep in the zone,
back down Layla Edwards back defensively. They're going to need

(20:55):
that help back there. Yeah, and they'll play it up
ice and it's going to be dumped and we'll have
an icing and a face off coming up back in
the zone.

Speaker 18 (21:04):
I'll tell you the Gophers contest you pretty well, don't
they hear pout?

Speaker 5 (21:07):
Yeah, they do.

Speaker 18 (21:08):
We really got to be careful we don't turn the
puck over. We have a couple of times we've gotten
away with it with either a big save by Aba
or just able to regain possession of the puck, but
don't want to turn it over in our own end.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Face off coming up now to the right side of
Ava McNaughton, back in the Badger goal.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
Ava on the season is.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
So far this year and very impressive though in her
save percentage almost ninety five percent and coming up ice
controlling it, Minnesota's Moro holds it in back to booming
shot it wide.

Speaker 5 (21:46):
Boy, you don't want to turn her loose.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
She's got a cannon of a shot and it's going
to be rolling back down on the Gopher zone whistle
and action's going to be stopped. Thirteen oh five remaining
in the first period and the Badger's lead it by
a score of two to nothing.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
Face offs. Both teams have.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Won five so far shots on goal, the Badgers with
five in Minnesota with two.

Speaker 18 (22:11):
Those face offs are a critical part of the game.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Yeah, Mark looks at that. Yeah, that gives you that opportunity. Right,
you have possession of the park. We're gonna shake a break.
We'll take a break too. This is Wisconsin Badger Women's hockey.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
This is Wisconsin Women's hockey presented by Oak Park Plays.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Thirteen oh five remaining in the first period. The score
is kudonopic Wisconson out in front. Time out had been
whistled by the Badgers and coming up by controlling it
coming in over the line, Peekin' hoggin with a drive
and that one right on and the sab is made
and we'll have a face off coming up in the
Gopher zone.

Speaker 18 (23:54):
Again.

Speaker 5 (23:55):
Recapping the goals of the game.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
Fourteen seconds into the period, Maggie Scannal got our sixth
goal of the year and Jungles got her sixth, the
cyst in KK Harvey her thirteenth, and then two forty
two into the game, it was Sims who got a
nice pass from Cassie Hall and Gorbatanko and that's where
we stand. Pekanhgen dumps it down in the corner. Pekanhagen

(24:21):
is out and Wisconsin trying to hold it in. Then
there's a drive by McCarthy when wide of the goal.
They're moving Pekanhagen, who's on the fourth line on the
right wing. They're moving her up and giving her shifts
on that third line.

Speaker 18 (24:35):
She's playing so hard.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
Paul coming back over to set it up over the Jungles.
They're shorthanded. Wisconsin is comes in over the line. KK
Harvey with a shot from a deep angle, almost at
the red line and it was wide and high of
the goal. Badgers come back into the line. Here's Eden
with a drive that went off the skate of Humphrey
down to the corner right side, Cassie Hall, Picard, Banusio

(24:59):
VENUSI tried to hold his zone and whistle and play
is going to be stopped.

Speaker 5 (25:03):
What are you seeing so far?

Speaker 18 (25:05):
Well, a fast piece of play, obviously, but I'm seeing
aggressive word check by us. I'm seeing a little more
engagement on the face offs, which is what we were
hoping for. Helverson just did a nice job of that
and ended up on a shot for us on the
far end. But yeah, just fast piece, man.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
And it'll be set up down in the corner on
the far side. Goes around over to Jordan. Jordan back
of the net, laid around the boards along on the
near side. Badgers with a two to nothing lead, and
hopefully they can keep up this pace as Minnesota has carried.

Speaker 5 (25:41):
It down to the Badger's zone.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
And it comes around of the play on the right
side over to Jordan trying to fire a shot. Badgers
in front of their own net they did not play
well at time no last night, in front of their
own net and comeing up Ice controlling it and they'll
dump it down back in behind Wisconsin going back over
to set it up and they'll control it. Bring it

(26:05):
out on the wing, intended for Abby Murphy. Abby got
a goal fifteen on the season already for her in
eleven games, and that line by the way of Lindsey
Finale and Murphy, they have fifty points. The next two
lines combined to have fifty points and play along the
boards on the near side over to try and set

(26:26):
it up. It's ten thirty five or fifty five remitting
here in the first period. Badger's up by a couple
of goals. They skated down on the corner. Vivian Jungles
that defense carries it all the way in. She's deep
in the zone. Gorbetanko trying to help her out, going
to be turned away by Minnesota. They lead it out

(26:47):
up the boards on the right side, coming in over
the line as Nelson Nelson on the right side, the
right winger tried to move it toward the slot, moving
behind that, trying to work it loose on the play
back intended for Nelson didn't work. Badgers move it out
coming up ice. Pekin Hogen with a drive. Look at
her goal and it's gonna be played back down in

(27:09):
the corner. Trying to set it up. Pekan Hagen trying
to chase it down around the boards. On the far side,
Leila Eldwards holds the zone that's taken away by Nelson
in Minnesota playing at the hat on the pass and
McCarthy and another goper off side of the blue line
of the Badgers.

Speaker 18 (27:28):
Boy, I like that hard play by Pekenhagen there, man,
she really gets after it.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
Charlotte Pekinhagen comes to Wisconsin, the freshman right winger. She's
out of Saint Catharines, Ontario and Wisconsin over to try
and pick it up. And it's gonna be played. That
goes up into the Badger bench and we'll have the
face off coming up. Shapoo, Volley Boba is out of

(27:57):
the lineup for the Wisconsin Badgers. We're gonna take another break.
This is Wisconsin Badger Women's hockey.

Speaker 20 (28:04):
Bikers need protection not just from other drivers, but unfortunately
from insurance companies too. If you've been injured in a
motorcycle crash called gruber offices, today, bikers are often blamed
for causing the accident because the insurance companies simply don't
want to pay at groomber lofices. We've been fighting for
injured bikers and their families for more than thirty years.

Speaker 10 (28:25):
Trust us to fight for what you deserve.

Speaker 18 (28:28):
Gruber Offices.

Speaker 10 (28:29):
One call, that's all.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
We're back here at Levon Arena along with Mark Greenhall.
I'm Paul Brown and the Badgers got out to a
two to nothing leads have gotten a very nice.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
Surprise, wasn't it all?

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Fourteen seconds in and then two forty two in a
welcome surprise. Yeah, And all of a sudden, the Badgers
had a two to uping lead over Minnesota, who are
ten and one in the year.

Speaker 5 (28:59):
The Badgers are ten and one.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
Both teams are six and one in the WHA, so
they're tied for the lead. They have a total of
eighteen points. You get three points for a win in
league competition. Face off coming up just outside the blue line,
and both teams are at full strength. No penalties have
been called in the game. Pekanagan will move in. They

(29:23):
threw McCarthy out of the face off circle. They say,
you get set, and now Emma Price has been thrown
out and Della Sandro goes in from Minnesota. Gophers set
it up on the near side and they'll drive it
down in the right wing corner.

Speaker 5 (29:38):
Of the Badger zone.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
Edward's looking for help from Harvey and it's going to
be played around on the far side and Helverson with it.
She tried to lift it out of the Badger's zone.
Pressure by Minnesota on the fore check they hold the zone,
comes over tomorrow and the backside shot by Aba McNaughton
and she covered it up in the glove and went
down on both. He needs to stop the play.

Speaker 18 (30:03):
Yeah, I like that no rebound because if your here
is one, there's going to be a goalfer right there
on the doorstep.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
And on the other end of the ice.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
They've got a very good goaltender and Hannah Clark who's
eight and one in her career so far this season,
it's goals against average at ninety five percent. Played around
on the far side over to try and set it
up both teams full strength to Minnesota and the Badger's zone.

Speaker 5 (30:28):
They come around over to Jordan.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Jordan try to go back door on the pass over
to Abby, Murphy comes out on the point intended there
for Graham had got past the defenseman stick and she's
got to go all the way back and pick it up.
She's paired with Molly Jordan who got it and on
the play they come out of the zone, controlling it
on the rush finale with it moving it into and

(30:52):
a shot.

Speaker 5 (30:53):
By Abby Murphy.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
Boy, she was in close range between the dots yep
and I'm not sure it got deflected, but she missed
that shot. Badgers pick it up coming up ice heres Eden.
Eden is gonna control the puck, trying to move it
in backhander. Ah just turned away. I try that was
the Badger's and that was per Card who tried to

(31:15):
go on the backhander. But Minnesota equal to the task.
Badger's On the rush, they come out of their own zone.
They play it to the blue line of the Gophers.
Minnesota turns and they'll set it up on the pass
over to Nelson. Nelson looking for help from blighting and
to clear it. Minnesota to the Badger line far wing.

(31:35):
They got Moro break into the net, can't get the
pass to her and it's played along deep in the
corner on the right. KK Harvey trying to work it
past the official. Badgers angle it off the far boards,
Minnesota holding the zone. They'll come around and Booming will
play it around the boards. It rolls to the far corner,
sims over to pick it up. One touch on the pass.

(31:58):
Badgers come rink wide over to Harvey left side, in
over the line, back over the Hall with a shot picked.

Speaker 5 (32:04):
Out of the air.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Hannah Clark just kind of casually puts her gloves up there,
like I got this one.

Speaker 18 (32:12):
That was a good glove. Save Hall tried to beat
her longside and she squared up and picked it clean
up what would have been the fireside corner.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
McCarthy's out, peking Hogen is out, Elverson is out and
out on the ice is Mackenzie Jones, the fifth defenseman
for the Badgers, and it's going to be played along
the boards again. Wisconsin's shorthanded and moving it in. Harvey
the pekin Hogen with a drive and McCarthy holding the zone.

Speaker 5 (32:42):
Nicely done for the Badgers. There two nothings.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Scorer seven twenty five remaining in the first period, shots
her nine to three Badgers, peking Hogen down in the
corner of the right side. She's playing with a little
tempo and zest in this game. She's got one speed
and that's and controlling it. Minnesota comes out of the zone,
they'll work it to the blue line. Of the Badgers

(33:05):
back over to KK Harvey and of Minnesota holding the zone.
Try to go on the short side and with it
they have good for checking pressure. Again, they're very good
at that, keeping the buck in the zone.

Speaker 18 (33:18):
Yeah, they are.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
And they always got somebody right out in front of
Ava McNaughton as well.

Speaker 18 (33:24):
I gotta have a full awareness of where everybody is
or they get an opportunity.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
And Peakin' Hoggin turns and looks for help to bring
it out of the zone. Play at center ice, tipped
in over the line of the Badgers. Gophers are going
to change up. Wisconsin trying to get organized at center
ice in a two to nothing game and Badgers in
their own zone four checking there is finale and Wisconsin

(33:48):
picking it up.

Speaker 5 (33:49):
They'll dump it down in the corner.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
Eden looking as the play comes from Enright past Egan
in the corner and right over to pick it up
down on the left wing corner. They give it off
over to Eden and eating with it off on the
play over the jungle. She centered it right out in
front oh and Enright was right there but couldn't get
her stick on the puck. Abby Murphy back trying to

(34:13):
take it away from Leyla Edwards. She does nice play
by Abby Murphy setting it up just inside the line.
There's a drive blocked out in front and Wisconsin, let's
see if.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
We get a penalty. Yes, we're gonna get our first
penalty of the game. Call there.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Badgers will have a power play moving it in Wisconsin,
trying to maintain possession of the puck. But the Gophers
are going to be headed to the penalty box at
fourteen twenty two.

Speaker 18 (34:43):
You know, we saw yesterday how expensive it is to
take a penalty and play a person short here. We
don't want to do that. Hopefully we'll take advantage of
them taking a penalty right now.

Speaker 5 (34:53):
And Abby Murphy has taken the penalty.

Speaker 18 (34:58):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
Yeah, body checking the call on Abby Murphy. And you
know she is a great player. But Mark Johnson would
also say she can hurt her team when she takes
those penalties because it gives you the power play opportunity.

Speaker 18 (35:16):
Yeah, she's forcing her teammates to play a player short there,
and that's a difficult challenge.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
Badgers have eleven power play goals on the year. Two
players with three apiece that is Cassie Hall and Eden
They both have three. Three other players have one. The
Badgers are eleven for thirty on the power play. They
were zero of three in Game one and turning Eden
with it down to the corner. Simms is out, pekin

(35:44):
Hagen is on the power play, Leila Edwards and Harvey.
So you've got pekin Hagen, who's been a fourth winger.
She's now out on the power play and she's earned
it and coming up ice controlled to get to play
in the neutral zone over the Layla Edward's, boy, would
this be big if they could score here?

Speaker 15 (36:02):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (36:02):
I know, and get a three to nothing lead in
the first period.

Speaker 18 (36:06):
I'd love to convert on this one.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
And it's KK Harvey comes in over the line, Harvey
pulling it up at the point left side. It goes
back of to Eden between the dots backside wing. Simshit
risk shot high and wide. She went to the wrister,
trying to go upstairs, just a little too high upstairs
and four forty five remitting In the period, Badgers come

(36:28):
out of their own zone again. Rink Watt in the pass,
Wisconsinate's in her eyes. KK Harvey over the line. Peking
Hagen dumps it down in the corner and then on
the left side in the corner. Eden working along with
peking Hagen trying to work it loose and the Minnesota
will turn it away and they'll angle it off the

(36:49):
boards and it's gonna slide down and on the race
back defensively Harvey and Minnesota takes it away with a shot.
Nice effort there on the park of christ who took
it away from KK Harvey and got off a shot.

Speaker 18 (37:04):
Yeah, from in.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Tight Wisconsin out towards center ice over to pick it up.
Another Badger checked in the neutral zone.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
That was Sims.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
Yeah, she got up. She's okay, and she looks better
in this game than she did in the game. Yeah,
she's been out with the injury. Yep, she was slow
a step yesterday and Wisconsin trying to get it out from.

Speaker 5 (37:26):
In front of their own that's shotting the goal a.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Shorthanded goal by Minnesota or it came right, Yes, it
is a shorthander. The Badger's on the turnover in their
own zone and lighting it is giving the Minnesota some life.

Speaker 5 (37:43):
It's now two to one. Yeah, that was uh not good.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Man sixteen fifteen the time of the period when they
get a shorthanded goal. The Badger's on the power play,
and Minnesota scores the shorthander and it's only a one
goal lead now for the Badgers. We're on on the
far side, coming over to try and pick it up,

(38:14):
and Wisconsin looking to hold it in and we're down
to three point thirty reminting in the period and Minnesota
down deep in the zone trying to get it out
of their own zone. Badgers back out on top and
there's a drive by Venusio in front, cover up and
the save is made, lighting and gets the goal.

Speaker 5 (38:36):
Booming gets the assists.

Speaker 18 (38:39):
Booming's having a heck of a week. Yeah, she's a
good player.

Speaker 8 (38:42):
Yeah she is.

Speaker 5 (38:45):
For Booming assists number ten on the season. Yeah, and
we'll have it face off coming up.

Speaker 18 (39:03):
Yeah, Gorbel's gonna take it.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
And play along the boards on the far side. We're
at three minutes and ten seconds remaining and with it Venusio.
That goal quieted the crowd.

Speaker 18 (39:20):
Down a little bit too, it did.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
Here's Gorbatanko coming in and over the on the far boards,
Wisconsin back to the points that he get up shot
by Venusio off the shoulder of the goaltender. Hannah Clark
back down in behind the net coming over to try
and control and bring it out of the zone. Was
Lindsey and the Badgers at their own blue line said,

(39:42):
I go up. Minnesota hangled it off the boards, hit
the official, I think, and Minnesota will kip pick it
up just outside the line of the Badgers off the boards,
Badgers turning the neutral zone.

Speaker 5 (39:54):
They come in over the line. Hall was checked. Whoa
and down there as a player.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
That's Murphy, Abby Murphy, and she's looking to maybe she
tried to Does she draw a penalty there?

Speaker 5 (40:06):
I'm not sure. I don't think so.

Speaker 18 (40:08):
Think so. She's been known to use her drama and
acting skills on occasion, you know, But I mean, I
don't want to see anybody getting hurt. So I didn't
like seeing her down there and the neutral zone. See
if a card here can win to draw and the
neutral zone for us we got a little hold up here.

(40:31):
Coach Frost is asking the official something.

Speaker 5 (40:33):
Here, Maybe about to hit on Abby Murphy. Perhaps Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
By the way, Brad Frost is going to be our
guest be an intermission one and two. Had a nice
conversation with him today before the UH They're going to
take a look at it.

Speaker 18 (40:49):
I think, oh, I think they are going to review
it looks like doesn't have all it.

Speaker 5 (40:52):
Looks yep, they're going to review it.

Speaker 3 (40:54):
So I'll give you a little background on Brad Frost
while we got this time out with two twenty one
remaining in the period. He's in his nineteenth season that
Minnesota Brad is He's won five hundred and thirty eight games.
He's now fourth on the all time winning list for
coaches in women's hockey, and they've had great success under him.

(41:18):
And we'll talk about his coaching career, about the Gophers,
about the Olympics. We cover it all coming up here
during the intermission.

Speaker 18 (41:28):
Got Frost.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
He's done a nice job there. Yeah, So how would
you analyze the first period here? I like it except
for the turnover there. You know, you learn quickly against
a tough team. It doesn't matter if you have a
man advantage or if it's equal strength. You don't want
to turn the buck over in your own end. We did,
and it cost us there with a high percentage. When

(41:48):
that happens, what's breaking down or the forwards not coming
back and helping with supporter or what's the deal?

Speaker 18 (41:54):
Well, I think with the man with a person advantage there.
We just feel to just step one. Let's get the
puck up and out of the zone. You know, you
try and get too cute or tick tack toe it
around in your own end. It's more after you get
picked off when those choices are made. And that's what
I think we saw there. I'd have to review it,
but pretty much there was you know what leads to

(42:18):
what happened.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
There, So we'll see hopefully this is they're still looking
at it her ball for quite a while, and.

Speaker 5 (42:25):
The longer you look at it.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
Normally you would hope no, no question about it. Let's
just write right, Yeah, I.

Speaker 18 (42:37):
Didn't see her go down. I just saw after she
was down.

Speaker 3 (42:40):
I saw her at the same time when she went down.
Mark and Dan Cook are down on the bench, along
with Jackie Crumb, the three coaches for the Badgers, and Greeney,
the goalie coach.

Speaker 5 (42:55):
What was the uncertainty with Ava.

Speaker 18 (42:59):
Yesterday if you were, I think it was in the
second period had topped down and there was a little
uh speculation as to they wanted to test her for
concussion like symptoms and that kind of thing. The trainer
and the doctors there were elaborately.

Speaker 3 (43:17):
Apparently it's no call, no call, not a penalty rather,
thank you. Yeah, I wondered as they you know, it
took a while to review that. Yeah, well maybe they
obviously wanted to make sure. Yeah, they were yep, looking
at there. So it remains five on five plus goaltenders

(43:38):
and Badgers are going to change up. Sims comes on,
Elverson goes off. We got a right out, Edwards is out,
Harvey is out and put Card out on the ice
for the Badgers. It's two to one here, Badgers leading Minnesota,
and it's going to be played around the boards down
on the far side. Badgers scored two goals two into

(44:01):
the first period. One of them was fourteen seconds after
they had the opening face off and ride with it.
Hangled it off the back wall, rolls around to the
near side. Badgers try to go back over to end
right back in behind the net. Per Card tried to
hold the puck over there. Sims came over to help
out to hold it in the zone.

Speaker 5 (44:21):
Minnesota, though, will break it out.

Speaker 3 (44:23):
They work it up ice that come in over the
Wisconsin line and drive it back in the corner off
the stick of light to it. Who's got the goal
of the game here for Minnesota and in front of
the Badger net comes around over the Layla Edwards. Every
time the Minnesota Gophers are in the Badger zone, it
looks like there's a couple of players within about ten feet.

Speaker 5 (44:43):
Of Ava mcnaugh.

Speaker 18 (44:44):
They know where to go, don't they?

Speaker 5 (44:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 18 (44:45):
They sureliers without the puck put themselves in a high
percentage position on the ice.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
One eighteen remaining here in the second first period, part
may lay back down in the corner over the try
and set it up back go the Gophers in their
own zone. One o eight remaining as Minnesota will set
it up to turn and come out with it. It's
Graham on the lead coming up Bis and Finale had it,
but it's one minute remaining in the period here going

(45:13):
back over to set it up as Jordan back around
in the corner, Eden with it.

Speaker 5 (45:18):
Eden with the play.

Speaker 3 (45:20):
Lacy Eden on number six for the Badgers, comes around
over and Jungles will fire it back in behind the net.
Gophers on the near side boards in their own zone
in the corner, try to go to Cassie Hall from
the corner out in the slot, but the Gophers turn
that away. Abby Murphy's back out on the ice the

(45:41):
plate Amorro stick ins front shot man.

Speaker 5 (45:44):
They moved that around very well and.

Speaker 3 (45:46):
Put themselves in a great scoring opportunity there nineteen seconds
remaining in the period. Badgers with a two to one lead. Here,
Hopefully you get out of the zone, get out of
the period, maintain that one goal lead here as the Badgers,
they'll flip it up the boards and that's going to
do it. Your thoughts in the first twenty minutes, Greeny, Well,

(46:09):
you can't take a shift off.

Speaker 18 (46:10):
It's always it's a fast pace by both teams, no
matter what zone you're in. So you got to be
ready and go hard for the puck.

Speaker 5 (46:19):
We'll be back.

Speaker 3 (48:43):
She fires it ahead and tried to let it on
the play over to Eden and it slides in on
the goaltender Clark, and she put it away and made
the safe and there's Harvey.

Speaker 5 (48:54):
With a goal.

Speaker 3 (48:57):
Scandal gets the goal.

Speaker 5 (48:59):
For the Wisconsin Badgers.

Speaker 3 (49:01):
Fourteen seconds into the game. Scannal scores goal number six
for her and number fourteen of the Badgers, gives the
team a one to nothing lead, and Wisconsin, with pressure,
boots it out in front. Trying up Hurston Simms gets

(49:22):
a beautiful path and fires home er six goal of
the year, and Wisconsin leads it two to nothing two
forty two into the first period. Doctoring the intermission, Paul
Brown with Brad Frost, who's the coach of the Minnesota

(49:45):
Golden Goal for women's team, and Brad, first of all, congratulations,

four times WCCHA Coach of the Year, two times National.

Speaker 13 (50:09):
It's been a good run for you in nineteen years
up there, hasn't it. It has.

Speaker 15 (50:13):
It's been a long run, and it's been a great one.

Speaker 16 (50:15):
You know, obviously a lot of really really.

Speaker 15 (50:16):
Good players and coaches involved with our program, but certainly
honored to be the head coach at the University of Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (50:23):
When you look back on that, obviously there's a lot
of highlights, but what strikes out the most, Brad Well, certainly.

Speaker 26 (50:30):
The relationships, you know, first and foremost with our alumni,
with again our staff who've been involved with the program.

Speaker 15 (50:37):
You know, I took over for Laura Halderson who started
the program.

Speaker 26 (50:40):
We still have a great relationship, and just being able
to carry on that legacy that she started, you know,
in nineteen ninety seven when.

Speaker 15 (50:47):
The program started. It has been an honor of a lifetime,
quite frankly, you know, and.

Speaker 3 (50:52):
Talking about women's hockey, I remember when they started it
down here, Brad, and I don't mean this in a
demeaning way.

Speaker 15 (50:57):
I was at the first practice.

Speaker 13 (51:00):
There were james.

Speaker 3 (51:00):
We couldn't pass the puck across the ice, and I
remember that now. I keep telling my friends who hockey people,
if they have not seen a women's game, you would
be stunned if you come and watch Minnesota Wisconsin. The
quality of play, the depth, the passing, the speed, whatever,
the game is dramatically different, isn't it.

Speaker 13 (51:20):
Sure is?

Speaker 26 (51:21):
And you know I started in nineteen ninety six as
a JV girls hockey coach at Even high school, and
it was very similar to what you're experiencing. A lot
of the girls were coming from the figure skating side
or the rigette side and really learning how to play
the game. And you fast forward, you know, the thirty
years that girls and women's hockey has been going, and

(51:42):
it's remarkable, you know, even at Minnesota or at Wisconsin
here from the time Mark and I you know, started
back in the two thousands, early two thousands to canal,
it's incredible.

Speaker 13 (51:55):
And I agree with you. I say the same thing.

Speaker 26 (51:57):
I invite my friends and people not seeing a women's
hockey game, they come, they are coming back because they
just absolutely love the product.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
What's all the changes in college sports doing the women's
hockey in your mind, Well, it's you know, you start
with the transfer portal that's been it's been something we've
you know, I kind of fought it our regionally.

Speaker 15 (52:18):
I wasn't sure if it was.

Speaker 26 (52:19):
Going to be around the stay, but you know it is,
and so we've taken advantage of that with a few
transfers each year. You know, you look at the revenue
sharing now and and n I L and those types
of things. And you know, at Minnesota, we're not one
of the teams that is getting quote unquote the revenue

(52:39):
share like the football and basketballs and men's hockey and
women's volleyball, which is understandable.

Speaker 15 (52:45):
But you know, I think a lot of changes are
still coming, but.

Speaker 26 (52:49):
It is markedly different than it was, you know when
I when I started in two thousand and one with
the Gopher program. And unfortunately it's it's become more transactional
than relational.

Speaker 15 (53:02):
And that's something that we're fighting here with our program.

Speaker 26 (53:05):
We want everything to be about relationships and we're going
to continue to do the best that we can.

Speaker 3 (53:09):
Not like you look at your crystal ball, what would
you like to see in terms of changes? Oh, that's
a that's a great question.

Speaker 13 (53:17):
You know, I think.

Speaker 26 (53:19):
Just the more opportunity I think for these these women
hockey players to earn money, you know, the right way.
It is certainly something that I don't think it's going away.
So if it's not going away, then then how can
we and our players try and capitalize on that while
also still understanding the importance of being part of the

(53:41):
team and and you know, not making it about each individual,
but making it about the team bred.

Speaker 3 (53:48):
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't been around
a women's game in terms of a quote full time
basis for very long.

Speaker 15 (53:54):
It seems something. Is it fair to say that the
game seems to be getting more physical? It is definitely,
and I think in large part because players are bigger,
they're stronger, they're faster.

Speaker 26 (54:06):
You know, it's just natural with all the training that's
that's going on, the specialization, the skills coaches, those types.

Speaker 24 (54:12):
Of things that.

Speaker 15 (54:14):
You know are allowing players to to get stronger.

Speaker 13 (54:18):
You know, they're they're elite athletes.

Speaker 15 (54:20):
You know, they're they're thoroughbreds.

Speaker 26 (54:22):
And so when you have strong athletes, fast athletes playing
against one another and then had a rivalry into that
and the importance of winning hockey games, you know, it
does become more physical.

Speaker 13 (54:33):
And and that's something you.

Speaker 26 (54:34):
Know, as you maybe asked earlier in regards to changes
that I'd like to see, I'd like to see more
contact allowed along the boards. Women's hockey is a really
hard game to officiate, you know, is that somebody that's
just stronger. Was that a body check?

Speaker 15 (54:49):
Was it not?

Speaker 13 (54:50):
You know, certainly don't want any of the.

Speaker 15 (54:51):
Open ice hits or anything like that.

Speaker 26 (54:53):
But along the wall, I think there's opportunities just to
pay players and you know they're more protected there. Yeah,
you'd say, I was just going to ask you about that.

Speaker 3 (55:03):
Obviously, if they're going to change it a little bit,
you've got to start calling it if it's.

Speaker 13 (55:08):
Not right, right, isn't that one of the issues. Well,
I think so.

Speaker 26 (55:11):
And again the refs are out there doing the best
that they can. But I always look at women's hockey
as being one of the hardest sports to officiate because again,
you have significant size differences, you have some players that
are more physical, some that aren't expecting physical play, and
so again, what's a penalty what's not?

Speaker 15 (55:30):
And I think allowing a little more contact and some
body contact along the walls would maybe take the onus
off the referee a little bit. The players would know
that the contact is coming, they can prepare themselves, and
that might be a change i'd like to see.

Speaker 3 (55:44):
Well, I'd heard rumors that you were a deeper team
this year and that type of thing, and watching last
night was pretty impressed.

Speaker 13 (55:53):
Yeah, we are a.

Speaker 26 (55:53):
Deep, deep team, you know, really like our group or
without one of our best defenseman Chloe Primerano is with
with Hockey Canada and preparing for the rivalry series here
next weekend. Sarah Falls a transfer from Princeton that had
twenty eight goals last year. That's that's out here for
a while, and you know, we've just had players step
up and you know, if they've been itching to get

(56:15):
the opportunity and they're they're taking.

Speaker 15 (56:18):
Advantage of that.

Speaker 13 (56:18):
How would you analyze last night's game?

Speaker 15 (56:21):
Well, our goaltending was fantastic.

Speaker 26 (56:24):
You know, I thought the first eight minutes of the
game we were a little bit on our heels. Wisconsin
was dictating play. We had a great offensive zone shift
with about eleven and a half minutes to go and
started to get our game going and started stacking some
shifts there. So I thought, you know, the last half
of that first period was pretty even. Second period, same

(56:45):
kind of thing. We came out a little slow. I
think we had about seven or eight these owned faceoffs
in a row that Wisconsin.

Speaker 15 (56:52):
Won the draw and everyone and our goaltender made the same.

Speaker 26 (56:55):
But that goal there at the end, certainly, to get
into one one was a huge, huge training point and
the message in the locker room going into the third
was simply, we've got to have a great first five minutes.
We haven't had that in the first or the second,
So let's get out there and have a great first
five and see where it takes us.

Speaker 3 (57:13):
And obviously it was pretty special. Yeah, it was special.
And I heard a stat on the way down here.
It's hard to believe, but apparently, and I got a
double check it, but it probably is true. That's the
first time Wisconsin has given up four goals in the
third period since twenty and twelve.

Speaker 15 (57:29):
Yeah, I've I've heard that, I've heard other years.

Speaker 26 (57:34):
But yeah, I mean, obviously, they're a tremendous team, great
legacy and a great history there, and in particular as
of late over the last number of years, they've just
had such an incredible team with all those US Olympians
that they have they're along with the other depth that
they have, there's no doubt they're a very talented team.

Speaker 13 (57:52):
That brings me to my final one.

Speaker 3 (57:54):
For you guys that are coaches and that type of thing,
this is a crazy year with the Olympics and everything else.
From your perspective, good idea, bad idea, idea that should
be changed a bit in the future.

Speaker 13 (58:07):
Well, well, it's a great question.

Speaker 16 (58:08):
You know, this is it's new for us because as you.

Speaker 26 (58:11):
Know, normally, you know, Hockey Hockey Canada and USA Hockey centralized,
and so they take our players in the full year,
so you know they're not you're not going to have them,
and they're trying to prepare as best you can. Obviously,
with the addition of the PWHL and them starting up
here in late November, Hockey Canada USA Hockey have said
Canada can stay in college, but we're going to take

(58:33):
them periodically.

Speaker 13 (58:35):
USA Hockey has.

Speaker 26 (58:36):
Done a great job in the sense that they're really
they're very college hockey friendly because so many of their
national team players are playing in college and so those
kids aren't missing many games up until the Olympics. Hockey
Canada is doing it a little different, so we've missed
Chloe now for for four games. But all in all,
I think it's great to be able to have players

(58:59):
when we can have the Obviously they're playing games and
ultimately they're getting ready to try and win a gold
medal here in February.

Speaker 13 (59:05):
Rad Thanks for time. All the best to you guys,

This is Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented My Whole Park Place.

Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
We're back in Lebond Arena along with Mark greenh All
eye Baul Brown. The Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Badgers
are both coming back out onto the ice. We'll be
ready to go with the opening face off a period
number two here in about thirty seconds or so, discussion
downstairs centered on one, well, just.

Speaker 18 (01:01:33):
We got to manage the puck, whether it's even strength
man advantage or on the penalty kill. Manage that puck,
keep the pace goaling like we've had, and see what
we can do here. We got scandal back out on
the ice. She'll be able to come back out. She
had to receive the puck to the head there and
got stitches. Yeah, I wondered about that.

Speaker 5 (01:01:53):
I wasn't sure, but hockey players are tough.

Speaker 22 (01:01:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 18 (01:01:57):
Yeah, she's you know, she gets a goal right away
and then to have that happen to her hoping to
you know, set her back here. So I'm glad she's
able to come back out.

Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
So she's gonna get the assignment here and try to
win the opening draw. Yeah, Maggie Scannal, we're talking about
number fourteen of the Badgers.

Speaker 5 (01:02:15):
She's a sophomore out of New York.

Speaker 18 (01:02:19):
She looks ready to go.

Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
Yeah, she does, and the draw.

Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
Eden is out along with n right on that opening
line and going back over to pick it up. The
Badgers try to bring it out of their own zone,
coming over to try and control it. Wisconsin comes out
towards center ice, Badgers skating from our left to our
right here in the second period. They angle it around
the wall, turning trying to control it. Minnesota will break

(01:02:44):
it out on the near side. They'll play it down
in the corner and chasing it back down deep in
the zone. As finale four, Minnesota out with Lindsey and Murphy.
Eden will return and come out of the zone stick
handling with the puck, angle it off the sideboards, tipped
by Scandal at center ice, trying to lead the pass ahead.
The Gophers precede the puck into the zone of Wisconsin

(01:03:07):
at the blue line, causing the off'sive.

Speaker 18 (01:03:12):
Yeah. Well, like I say, good to see Scandal back
out there, and she looked full board, didn't she?

Speaker 5 (01:03:17):
Yep?

Speaker 3 (01:03:17):
So moving is out with Kaiser and Nelson for Minnesota
against sims Hall and Gorbatankle for the Badger based off
over by the Minnesota bench far boards, and the Gophers
will drive it back down in behind Ava McNaughton, who
only had to make a total of four saves in

(01:03:39):
that first period. Badgers had eleven up on the board
in terms of shots. Gophers in their own zone try
to regroup to bring it out of the zone. Badgers
hold it in lay over the shot kicked out nicely,
yeah by the goaltender, that is Hannah Clark comes around
over to Venusio, who backhands it deep in the zone,

(01:04:01):
goes all the way around over to gorbatank who's pinned
on the sidewalk over there by Graham and turning and
Hall came out from the corner. Try to get off
the drive. Sims has the puck at the far point.
She moves between the dots. She shuffles it off over
to Layla with a drive. Sims gets it back, pulls
it up back over shot by the goal. Corbatanko gets

(01:04:27):
the goal for the Wisconsin Badger, her seventh goal of
the year, and Wisconsin takes the lead at three to one.

Speaker 18 (01:04:37):
Good to see that puck movement that preceded that goal.
U Sims moved the puck over to her real wealth.
Just some great puck movement, Leyla Edwards Sims Sims over
to Gorbatenko on the right doorstep bego for a goal.

Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
Nice shot, five on five goal for the Badgers there,
and Wisconsin gets that two goal lead back ice play
on the part of the Badger's there.

Speaker 18 (01:05:02):
Good puck movement and it's.

Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
Going to be played back around the boards on the
far side and Wisconsin trying to hold the zone. Badgers
do McCarthy over to pick it up. McCarthy down of
the corner trying to control it. McCarthy along the back wall,
coming over to help out his Percard. Harvey comes over
to slap it off the back wall. There it rolls

(01:05:24):
around on the right side over the McCarthy still deep
in the zone. Percard tried to pick it up play
along the boards. Gophers come up the near wing, controlling
it its center ice and they'll drive it in. And
Eva whipped it around with that big stick in the
corner look out. The Minnesota Gophers look to try and
set it up on the far boards. They take a

(01:05:45):
drive and it was tipped and it went up against
the netting and play is going to be stopped. Gorbatanco
from sins and Leyle Edwards.

Speaker 18 (01:05:55):
Yeah, nice goal, Nice way to start the period.

Speaker 3 (01:06:00):
Garba Tankle with her seventh goal of the year, Kirstin
Simms with an assist, her tenth of the air and
Leyley Edwards back on the scoreboard. Layla with her fourth
assists of the ear Leila had that knee problem. She's
been out back in the lineup wearing a knee brace.

(01:06:20):
Layla with it around on the far side, Wisconsin turning
trying to headman the puck over to win right. It
sent her eyes and it's going to be played back
down in the corner in behind the Wisconsin. Nette Edwards
slaps it around the boards, goes all the way back
to Abby Murphy at her own blueline Wisconsin in front
of the Badger bench trying to pick it up. Minnesota

(01:06:42):
holds it in with finale. Finale is out, whistle and
play stopped at the blue line of the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Speaker 5 (01:06:50):
You we're ten and one on the ear.

Speaker 18 (01:06:53):
Eden wasn't able to get out of the zone before
we tapped her back in there, so off side.

Speaker 3 (01:06:57):
As a result, Gophers the only loss of the season
was to the Buckeyes of Ohio State. Base off coming up,
ban out is Eden for the Badger. Scandal is out
and so is in right and it's going to be
lifted high and the air rolls back on the near
side of the Badger's zone and Minnesota plays it behind

(01:07:19):
the net wolves it out in front. Abby almost had
an opportunity there around on the near side over to
try and control it.

Speaker 5 (01:07:28):
The play is going to be set up the give
and goal from finale.

Speaker 3 (01:07:31):
Murphy and Lindsay the combo out lay in the corner
back to the point on the paths around over to Humphrey.
Badgers turned and try to bring it out with it
as Leyley Edwards, there's Layla plays it in over the line,
Wisconsin moving it in with a shot into the glove
of the goaltender Hannah Clark. Minnesota stops the play sixteen

(01:07:55):
twenty five remitting in the second period.

Speaker 18 (01:07:58):
Yeah, a nice risk shot for men right from the
left wing there.

Speaker 5 (01:08:01):
Shots are thirteen to six in the game, edge to
the Badgers.

Speaker 18 (01:08:06):
I had Eva with a few more saves in the
first than they got, but that's official there. I guess
I might be biased a.

Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
Little bit and Wisconsin looking to hold the zone on
the far side. Both teams are at full strength. We've
only had one penalty called in the game. That was
in the first period on Minnesota and setting it up
Cassie Hall over to Harvey, Harvey moving it in show
and that went behind that good right job of stick

(01:08:34):
handing with a puck there to get off the drive.
Harvey lost her glove. She's going to pick it up,
put it on and try to get back in the
play and she does. Wisconsin back in their own zone
moving it in, shot wide, moving it fired in. Why
do the gold Badgers turn it out. They come up
Ice controlling it comes in over the line and there's

(01:08:55):
a shot right out in the Funnow Cassie Hall in
full sims is as well and Minnesota tried to clear it.
Cassie Hall skates it down, centered it nobody home. Gophers
turn and back they come. Venusio's back with Edwards defensively
as they'll drive it in behind Avid Mertin Murphy coming
in a hurry. Badger's comeing up Ice Venusio, she can skate,

(01:09:19):
comes in over the line, moves in and it's swept
off her stick, held in by McCarthy at the blue line.
Wisconsin tried to hold the zone and they do nice
play there, but finally Minnesota will drive it and it
slides all the way back in the Badger's zone. Trying
to chase it down for the Gophers, but the Badgers
to get there before Poshova, and it's going to be

(01:09:43):
played by Wisconsin's Anna Helderson whipped it around the boards
on the fore check. It's Picard trying to hold the
zone and play along on the nearer side in.

Speaker 5 (01:09:55):
The zone of Minnesota. Three to one Badgers.

Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
Second period, Gophers will ump it down in the corner
trying to skate it down and control it. Delas Sandro
add on the wing. Minnesota loses control of the puck,
picked up by Harvey on the far wing, carries it
in over the line, moves the puck down toward Halderson
in the high slot. Gophers intercept and back they come.

(01:10:20):
They come to the blueline of the Badgers far boards.
They rim it around the boards. N Ride reverses it
back over to Jungles on the far side. Jungles lifts
a little shot of the air, Ride Gloves knocks it down,
picks it up, gives it to Eden with.

Speaker 5 (01:10:35):
A drive in front.

Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
Scandal is down, pile up there and the puck is
beneath somebody, but.

Speaker 5 (01:10:43):
Not in the goal.

Speaker 18 (01:10:44):
Good job of getting the puck to the net. I
was hoping somebody could bang a rebound in there, especially
with Scandal right on the top of the crease. No
such luck.

Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
Thirteen fifty nine remaining in the second period, in which
the Badgers have a goal that was scored to by
Gorbatan Go, matching her number with her seventh goal of
the year. Two young sisters of Kelly Gorbatanco are in
this program, moving it in eating with a drive that
one went right on, but the block save made by

(01:11:15):
goaltender Clark, and it's gonna be Minnesota coming out of
their own zone. They rush it in over the line
with its finale. Finale and Murphy are out along with
Lindsey on the left side in Eden, that center eyes
turn gives it to Edwards. Edward's around with a shower.
It almost got behind the goaltender. Were such a close,

(01:11:39):
beautiful pass in tight they had her beat, Yeah, but
somehow she got back and made the save.

Speaker 18 (01:11:47):
Great puck movement. It's a miracle f puck stayed out
of the net. Clark made a save. It kind of
slid behind her and she put a glove on it. Yeah,
great attempts.

Speaker 5 (01:12:00):
The Badgers have the ability to pass the buck.

Speaker 18 (01:12:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
Some tick tak toll there around of the far side
and both teams at full strength. Minnesota comes out of
their own zone. The Gophers to the Badger blueline, pulling up,
controlling it as Nelson and moving it in lightening with
the drive. She's got the goal of the game for Minnesota.

(01:12:25):
Back in behind again, it's Nelson with it. She carries
it between the dots, fires and wide of the goal raybound.
Minnesota look to try to go to the wrap around
and it's in the corner. Nelson over to pick it up.
Pressure by the Gophers back to Lighten and with the drive,
Badger's clear it from out front. Lightning holds it in
at the left point between the dots. They move it

(01:12:47):
in shot block I see and the Badgers turn it away.
Vivian Jungles try to bring it out Minnesota with pressure.

Speaker 5 (01:12:55):
They hold the zone.

Speaker 3 (01:12:56):
There's a shot when one of the goal with twelve
forty two remaining in the pair.

Speaker 5 (01:13:00):
It's three to one.

Speaker 3 (01:13:01):
Wisconsin back in of the line, Sims and it gives
it off over the.

Speaker 5 (01:13:06):
Hall with a drive.

Speaker 18 (01:13:07):
The rebounds.

Speaker 5 (01:13:08):
It came loose over the KK, haul around.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Over to the Layley Edwards Layla with a little toe drag,
try to go in front of that. Lailah's setting it
up on the far side, around over to KK. Harvey,
Harvey pulling it up in the slot, Sims with a drive.
McCarthy turns and fired it wide and the play. Minnesota
will turn and they'll lift it out towards the blue
line of the Badgers.

Speaker 5 (01:13:32):
Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
Rey groups with it as Edwards comes back into the line,
trying to chase it down. Anna Helberson with it along
the back wall in the Gopher zone. Minnesota tries to
clear it edwards, pinching down to the corner, trying.

Speaker 5 (01:13:47):
To hold the zone.

Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
Another player may have been hit and it goes back down.
Getting up very very slowly there trying to get back
into the play and over to try and pick it up.
That was a christ Here's KK Harvey over to Halverson
in the corner, over to piccard, little Gibb and Goat

(01:14:09):
try to come back over to Halverson. Price is staying
out on the ice. The person that had been down
over to eaton in front. Oh shot block. The card
came to the crease, just couldn't put it in.

Speaker 18 (01:14:24):
Heck of a saved point blank.

Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
Coming back into the line. Minnesota won against the four.
There the shot by deleas Sandro. Minnesota back and forth.
We go here up and down the ice and control it.
Here comes the Gophers back in of the line.

Speaker 5 (01:14:42):
Abby Murphy, nice pack and the pass.

Speaker 3 (01:14:45):
The shot tipped by Lindsey after the Abbey Murphy passed
went into the glove of Ava McNaughton.

Speaker 18 (01:14:53):
That was a nice redirect there. The good save. Ava
was ready and gloved it and Murphy slid it over
to this sl lot. Nice redirect.

Speaker 5 (01:15:04):
Wow, these games are fun to watch, they really are.

Speaker 18 (01:15:08):
Well, you got two great teams out here.

Speaker 3 (01:15:09):
Yeah yeah, face off coming up and controlling it around
on the far side, Gophers with a drive and Ava
and traffic put it away, trying to harass a little
bit blocking that view. Was finale, Yeah, bella finale, trying
to take your eyes away from Webster New York. Brad

(01:15:32):
went into the portal and picked up some different talent
for the Badgers or for Minnesota. Parton me and going
back over to pick it up, controlling it. Both teams
at full strength. We're nearing the halfway mark of the
hockey game. Badgers lead three to one. They're working along
the boards on the far side, Wisconsin breaking it out.

(01:15:53):
They try a right wing pass intended for Eden. Minnesota
turns that back and the Badgers try to pick it
up in the neutral zone.

Speaker 5 (01:16:02):
Abby Murphy coming off the wing. Oh great play. Harvey
swept it right off the stick of Abby Murphy.

Speaker 18 (01:16:09):
Man and Murphy was fast, rapidly coming down the right wing,
and those two.

Speaker 5 (01:16:14):
Are reportedly very good friends.

Speaker 18 (01:16:16):
But she can go. You're my buddy, but not yeah,
not tonight, not on that one.

Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
You're not getting that pucket that's right coming over to
pick it up and controlling it.

Speaker 5 (01:16:25):
It comes back down and and we should have an
icing call.

Speaker 18 (01:16:29):
Here with nine fifty three man. Heck of a play there.
That was something to watch.

Speaker 3 (01:16:34):
Two great players, probably Joe Olympic players without a doubt,
very much so, face off coming up to the left
side back in the zone of Minnesota, Hannah Clark end
goal in her career one eleven and one, I'm sorry,
thirty three games.

Speaker 5 (01:16:54):
She's eleven and one.

Speaker 3 (01:16:58):
And coming over to pick it up, going back over
trying to control it, and Leylea Edwards on the back
wall on the Badger's zone played it past Bonusio, stick,
Gorbatanko and Bonusio try to combine to set it up,
and the Minnesota with the fore checking pressure in the corner,
Badgers try to control it. And they're still in their

(01:17:18):
own zone. And let's see if we can get organized
and get out of here. They lifted down the back
in the Badger's zone or Minnesota zone. It's going to
be played back down on the corner. Nine point fifteen
remainting in the second period three to one. Wisconsin only
one goal here in the second period of play, and

(01:17:40):
it's going to be fired the length of the ice
and we'll have an icing cold.

Speaker 18 (01:17:44):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (01:17:44):
I heard a stat in the press box here before
the game today that seems unbelievable. It had to do
with Minnesota's four goals in the third period.

Speaker 18 (01:17:55):
Oh, yesterday.

Speaker 5 (01:17:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:17:57):
Do you know the last time Wisconsin gave up four
goals in the third period?

Speaker 18 (01:18:02):
I can't remember, and I've been here. This is my
nineteenth year.

Speaker 5 (01:18:05):
Two thousand and twelve. Yeah, wow, two thousand and twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
Oh man, Yeah, it's been a while around on the
far side trying to control it.

Speaker 18 (01:18:18):
I couldn't recall when it would have been.

Speaker 3 (01:18:19):
Yeah, obviously that goes back a few years, just a
little and turning it ahead, a nice pass to Edwards
over to Cassie Hall with a drive and that went
high and off. The glass comes around over to pick
it up and coming back into the line. Minnesota down
three to one. They try to pass it towards the

(01:18:40):
slot and the play goes behind the that of Wisconsin
around on the far side. Badger's McCarthy flips it out
over to Kirsten Sims. Kirsten comes back in the line,
moving it in shot. Block Kirsten's back. Yeah, you can
tell she's back much more so than yesterday. Oh yeah,
we out a doubt world of difference, yop, coming back

(01:19:02):
into the line, played back down on the corner.

Speaker 5 (01:19:05):
That's good news for the Badger Yeah.

Speaker 18 (01:19:07):
I mean before that offensive surge, she had a great backcheck.
It broke up a play in the slot in the defensive.

Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
Zone and pekin Hagen tried to play it ahead of Minnesota.
Holds it in finale with it. Get a body block
off that shot there, good job.

Speaker 18 (01:19:21):
Great job by Jungles.

Speaker 5 (01:19:23):
And coming back down in the corner.

Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
She leads the Badgers in block shots and she has
for several years.

Speaker 18 (01:19:31):
She plays so smart.

Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
Yeah smart hockey around on the far side.

Speaker 3 (01:19:35):
Seven point thirty nine remaining here in the second period
of play and a trip up at the blue line.
There again is Abby Murphy. We're going to take a break.

Speaker 5 (01:20:24):
Seven point sixteen. Remitting in the second period.

Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
There's a shot just wide by Morrow and the Badgers
have a three to one lead here at Lebond Arena
against the Gophers of Minnesota, Minnesota one five to one
last night stopping a number of streaks that the Badgers
had going coming around on the near side over to
try and pick it up, and it got past the stick.
There of Abby Murphy who tried to skate it down

(01:20:50):
of the corner moving comes over to try.

Speaker 5 (01:20:52):
And help out.

Speaker 3 (01:20:53):
Scandal pitting against the boards there watching it is end right,
crowd coming alot now sell out, crowded and the band
on hand.

Speaker 18 (01:21:02):
Yeah, I like that. Nobody's trick or treating today.

Speaker 29 (01:21:05):
Paul.

Speaker 5 (01:21:05):
Yeah, well, last night the band may have been in
that's the volleyball game.

Speaker 18 (01:21:09):
I don't know, but but I'm in the fans. All
the seats are pretty fill.

Speaker 3 (01:21:13):
And coming over to try and set it up, and
it's going to be played back down in the corner
and we'll have an icing called here.

Speaker 18 (01:21:25):
Yeah, let's see if we can win this offensive zone
draw and make something happen with it.

Speaker 3 (01:21:32):
Badger's got two goals in the first period. Fourteen seconds
into the game, Scandal her sixth of the year. Then
sim scored her sixth of the year at two forty
two into the period, and here in the second period,
Gorbetanco's got her seventh goal of the year.

Speaker 5 (01:21:50):
Badger's goals are five on five.

Speaker 3 (01:21:52):
Minnesota's goal is shorthanded around down to the corner on
the far side over to try and control it. And uh,
there's a big little gathering party down there in the
corner with about five six players moving it off and
the shot they went low. They kept it low on
the ice, yeh. And that's not a bad thing to
do at tomes. Keep that puck low, get it near

(01:22:16):
the feet of the gold pend force him to move
and controlling it. Here's KK Harvey with it. KK coming
around in the slot. Shot by Hannah Clark or pardon
me by Hannah Wulverson around on the far side trying
to control it, and it's whoa, somebody took a drive
there that was hand off hal but she seems to

(01:22:36):
be okay. We have five thirty six remaining here back
in the second period, twenty one to eleven in shots
so far in the game. Minnesota firing at the length
of the ice and that got tipped. That goes all
the way back down to the badger zone. Wisconsin will
go back over to pick it up and clear it

(01:22:57):
around on the far side within his hall.

Speaker 5 (01:23:00):
The pass over.

Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
The Gorbatanko comes in over the line. The shot driven
wide and around on the far side over to try
and control it. Here's Kirsten Simms moving it in. Didn't
take the drive, carried it low, goes behind the net
they've got haul in front. She carries it all over
town and fires it back out on top over to
Laila Edwards back of it. The Sims Sims with the

(01:23:23):
stick handling clinic along the boards on the near side
back of the hall Hall lost control of it and
Edwards try to get it back. Gophers come in over
the line. They'll move it in trying to get off
a drive. They back toward the slot, cleared away by
Leilay Edwards. Here's Leila coming up. Ice comes in over
the line, comes in off the wing, try to get

(01:23:44):
off a drive, goes down, gets up quickly and it's
going to be Minnesota to clear. Four to twenty three.
Remitting in the second period three to one, Wisconsin. Gophers
go back of it to set it up.

Speaker 5 (01:23:57):
Jordan with it. Jordan with it, drives it to the
Badger line. Broken up. Vivian jungles on the play, dump
down in the corner.

Speaker 3 (01:24:06):
Eden goes over to pick it up behind the net,
around over the scale, back out on top.

Speaker 5 (01:24:11):
Badgers look to hold it in.

Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
Harvey controls the puck, plays it down in the corner,
goes back over to Pekanhagen. Here's Pekanagen shuffling it back
to the right point. Harvey holds it in, whips it
across in the point over the jungle. She cycles it
behind the net. Gophers go back and turn and try
to bring it out with finale. The shot went wide
and it comes all the way out of the zone.

(01:24:34):
Harvey back for Wisconsin to the blue line of Minnesota.
Badgers in their own zone over to pick it up.
Jungles of Wisconsin four checking against Abby Murphy.

Speaker 5 (01:24:44):
Whoop, she's going to the penalty ball.

Speaker 18 (01:24:46):
Yeah, Jungles through a penalty there.

Speaker 3 (01:24:49):
And Badgers get an extra attacker out on the ice.
Wisconsin now finly with it, drives it down in the corner.
Can they maintain possession of the puck? But no, what's
she all holds it in?

Speaker 5 (01:25:03):
Isold?

Speaker 18 (01:25:04):
Okay? At three twelve we got a We're gonna go

Speaker 3 (01:26:31):
Three minutes and twelve seconds remaining in the second period.

Speaker 5 (01:26:35):
Abby goes in on the tripping call.

Speaker 3 (01:26:38):
So their best player of obviously one of the better
players in college jockey, she spend potentially four minutes in
the penalty box here in the second period. That helps Wisconsin, Yes.

Speaker 18 (01:26:50):
It does. Yeah, I'd like her in the boxes as
much as we can have that happen.

Speaker 5 (01:26:55):
There's a discussion going on.

Speaker 3 (01:26:57):
I'm not exactly sure what that's all about, but Abby
is in the penalty box.

Speaker 5 (01:27:07):
So we've got.

Speaker 18 (01:27:08):
Leyton In is discussing something with the officials, and now
k K. Harvey is discussing something with the officials.

Speaker 5 (01:27:16):
K K is the captain of the Badgers. The assistant
captain scandal is one of them.

Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
Picard is one of them, so is Harvey. As we
mentioned Edwards. They put assistance on all of them. Yeah,
pretty good foursome.

Speaker 18 (01:27:34):
There, yep. Yeah, talent, a group of fine young ladies.

Speaker 3 (01:27:39):
All right, person man advantage if you will, for the
Badgers on the power play. It goes around on the
playover to Kirsten Simms back out on top. It's KK Harvey,
Edwards is out four. Wisconsin. Badger's got two players in
front of the net and they'll set it up to

(01:28:00):
going behind the net and there's a drive in the save.
Nice mate, yep, they set it up, got to drive in. Yeah,
the two Badgers in front of the net are eating and.

Speaker 18 (01:28:14):
Yeah, I like that good size there with Peckenhagen. She
takes the eyes away of the goaltender.

Speaker 3 (01:28:20):
Pretty good face off coming up to the left side.
Back down in the zone. We've got one forty one
reminning in the penalty time the Gophers if they give
one up here the Badgers that have a little three
goal cushion in this game.

Speaker 5 (01:28:34):
Right now, it's three to one.

Speaker 3 (01:28:36):
Setting it up Wisconsin near boards, over to Harvey, Ronald
the right side over the.

Speaker 18 (01:28:41):
Lady shutting the doll.

Speaker 3 (01:28:44):
Lale Edward trips it into the twine, gets the goal
for Leylee Edwards and his goal number four of the year.
The Badgers score their twelve power play goal and laid
it four to one.

Speaker 18 (01:29:01):
Just a beautifully hard shot, wrist shot from the her.
She was on her off wing. She's a right hander,
she's just above the left dot, gets a pass, grabs
it and lets her rip with a hard wrister to
beat the goaltender Clark. Great goal, great goal.

Speaker 3 (01:29:19):
I think you can say Layla is back to off. Yeah, yeah,
two thirty seven or a manning. Thank you Abby Murphy
for that tripping.

Speaker 18 (01:29:29):
Yep, exactly, Paul, good call by you.

Speaker 5 (01:29:34):
Coming over to pick it up. Coming through Santa Eyes,
here's moving comes in over the line. Don't kid yourself.

Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
This game is not over yet, not by any stret
by any stretch of the imagination. Yeah, the movie get in.
There is Abby Murphy down to the corner on the
left side. There's a shot blot it out tradaway. Well,
somebody looked through the bodies.

Speaker 18 (01:29:56):
We got hauled down in front of the net. There
she's her and uh oh yeah, leg oh my appears
to be in pain and she's the Badger's leading goal scorer,
and the officials actually blew the whistle because they could
tell she was severely hurt here. So hopefully she's getting.

Speaker 3 (01:30:18):
Goodness the Badger's the injury situation. Oh she hasn't even
got her leg.

Speaker 5 (01:30:24):
On the ice.

Speaker 22 (01:30:24):
No, no, I.

Speaker 5 (01:30:30):
Wow, I hope she's got eleven goals on the ear
for the Badger.

Speaker 15 (01:30:34):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:30:36):
You've got Shapeo, Volley Vova out of the lineup. You've
got Potter out of the lineup. You've got Ava Murphy
out of the lineup, and now Hall Cassie Hall potentially
out of the lineup.

Speaker 18 (01:30:51):
Tell you, Paul, that's some depleted personnel there.

Speaker 5 (01:30:55):
Wow, wow is right, And that face off will come
up to the right side.

Speaker 18 (01:31:06):
We've got scandal in the circle there to the right
of Aba. See if she wins the draw.

Speaker 5 (01:31:12):
Harvey and Sims get assists on that goal.

Speaker 18 (01:31:15):
By the way, thank you, Paul. Yeah, that was a
great power play goal. Leila looked like Ovechkin on the
off wing there getting ready to let one rip on
the power play boy.

Speaker 5 (01:31:30):
I tell you, though, you just look at all of
the injuries.

Speaker 18 (01:31:34):
It's it's just si man.

Speaker 5 (01:31:36):
Last year they didn't have any of this.

Speaker 18 (01:31:38):
I mean, it's one of those for your right years
you're right and then you know, and then you throw
in some of those intermittent uh Olympic things where people
are gone too and.

Speaker 3 (01:31:47):
It's going to be set up and controlled. Coming back over,
there's a drive and it's gonna be uh aba McNaughton
putting it away.

Speaker 5 (01:31:55):
One remaining for one Wisconsin here.

Speaker 18 (01:32:06):
Well, it's good to see the jump in her step today, Paul. Yeah,
after that sleepy third period yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:32:15):
Around on the far side, over to try and set
it up. It comes around over the jungle, jungles with it,
turns and tries to lead it out towards sent her
eyes and Wisconsin going back over trying to control it.
Scandal down in the corner one thirty remenning in the
period and coming back over it to pick it up
and play in the neutral zone. Over to set that

(01:32:37):
up and ride with it. We'll dump it down down
deepen the zone, coming over to set it up. Minnesota
comes out of their own zone. They'll work it up
ice and it's intercepted by Leilea Edwards.

Speaker 5 (01:32:49):
Layla comes back into the line.

Speaker 3 (01:32:51):
Layla with the puck down in the corner, angle it
off the sidewall down on the right side. McCarthy gets
it there, she skates behind the out of the golphers
and it comes back out on top. Trying to control
it just inside the blueline jungles or pardon me, Vivi Venusio.
There's a drive right on and the save is made.

Speaker 18 (01:33:13):
Nice shot by Venuzio. I wondered what she was going
to do with that buck pall. She likes to shoot.

Speaker 5 (01:33:18):
She likes to score too, she said when she got here.
But sunny yeah. In her second year with the.

Speaker 3 (01:33:24):
Badgers, the sophomore out of Toronto, Ontario, got a hard.

Speaker 18 (01:33:28):
Shot, but I told her, you got to hit the
net Venuzia.

Speaker 5 (01:33:33):
I wonder if she's a Blue Jay man.

Speaker 3 (01:33:36):
Oh yeah, I've played back down on the corner of
that World Series game final game huh yep, down Game seven,
back in behind the net forty one seconds for mening
Here in the second period, look out, here's a.

Speaker 5 (01:33:49):
Two on one.

Speaker 3 (01:33:50):
Minnesota's booming comes in over the line, back door, try
to go to Aver Murphy back to booving. Oh boy,
one pass too many yes, and they play it back
in behind trying to set it up.

Speaker 5 (01:34:01):
Finley with it. I want to get it out of
the zone. Are Yeah, and go to the locker room
with a four to one league, it was.

Speaker 18 (01:34:08):
Kind of a shaky shift here, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:34:10):
Yeah, a lot of talent out there with Murphy and
booving and Minnesota trying to get control of the puck.

Speaker 5 (01:34:19):
Seven seconds for many.

Speaker 3 (01:34:20):
We're going to come to the end of the second
period of play, and the Badgers put up a couple
of goals here in the second period and it's a
four to one game.

Speaker 5 (01:34:29):
Greenie, your thoughts.

Speaker 18 (01:34:31):
I tell you, we managed to puck better and as
a result, we didn't yield any goals, you know, other
than that, you know, and we put a few up ourselves. Soul,
I'm liking it.

Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's hockey presented by boat Park.

Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
Plays over to Layla with the drive. Sims gets it back,
pulls it up back over shot.

Speaker 5 (01:37:17):
By shotting a goal.

Speaker 3 (01:37:21):
Corvetango gets the goal for the Wisconsin Badger their seventh
goal of the year, and Wisconsin takes the lead at
three to one. Wisconsin near forts over to Harvey Ronald
the right shot over to the lad shot the goal,
Lale Edwards trips it into the twine, gets the goal

(01:37:46):
for Laylee Edwards and his goal number four of the year.
The Badger's score their twelfth power play.

Speaker 5 (01:37:53):
Goal and lead it four to one.

Speaker 34 (01:37:57):
And welcome to the intermission report here on ten seventy
the game Aiden Michael's here with you. This is the
intermission report, brought to you by Fields Madison, your premier
luxuryauto group serving customers since nineteen seventy one. Those were
the highlights of that very eventful second period. The Badger's
lead by a score of four to one after two
twenty four shots on goal for Wisconsin, just twelve for Minnesota.

(01:38:19):
A much busier night for Wisconsin than last night. And
of course for Minnesota they have not been themselves. They
absolutely destroyed Wisconsin in the third period of last night's game.
It was one nothing after the first period last night,
then it was one to one, and then in that
third period just four goals for Minnesota, just piling it on,

(01:38:41):
resulting in Ava mcnonton getting polled for the first time
this season. Riya Stewart has made three appearances in goal
for Wisconsin this year, but this was the first time
that she came in for mcnonton after she got pulled
for allowing too many goals, And I don't think there
was ever really a question of whether or not it
was gonna be Ava mcnonton in net for the Badgers tied,
although we did see her go down yesterday and was

(01:39:03):
a little slow to get up, but obviously seems to
be doing okay and obviously showing it here today. Hasn't
had much to do, but has made some quality chances,
some big turnovers for Wisconsin, which has been an issue,
but mcnonton has been able to make some great saves
point blank if you're just joining us. In the first period,
it was a very very quick goal for Wisconsin, the
best possible start you could ask for, fourteen seconds in

(01:39:25):
the Badgers struck. It was Maggie's scannal with her sixth
of the season and first goal since joining that first line.
Mark Johnson's had to make some adjustments in the first
three lines as.

Speaker 29 (01:39:34):
Of late because of all these injuries.

Speaker 34 (01:39:36):
Adela shapovali Vova blocked a shot last weekend late in
the third period and she has not returned to the
ice since, so that brought Scannal up to the first line,
and luckily who Luckily Sims, who suffered an injury in
the icebreaker tournament championship game, came back entered on that
second line with Gorbutenko and Hall and Sims of course

(01:39:57):
getting that second goal for Wisconsin today was the first
one since her injury. Loud, loud cheers, and then it
was Gorbatenko in the third period getting another goal. She's
been on a hot streak, ended her longest goal streak
of her career. Last game she had goals in four straights.
She had five goals in that stretch. Did not score
last night, but she is back on the score sheet today.

(01:40:18):
And then talk about getting your first goal since the injury.
To make it for one, Leila Edwards on the power
play on a one timer beautifully in the slot. Gave
the Badgers a decent cushion heading into the third period.
And you thought the cheer for Sims was loud, how
about the one for Leila Edwards, especially when they announced
the goal. And it helped the Badger fans when they

(01:40:38):
saw that it was Abby Murphy, who I think people
are referring to around here is public enemy number one
in Madison. Seeing her take a penalty go into the
box and the Badgers capitalizing because they didn't let up
a short handed goal. The only goal for Minnesota was
from the co captain Kelly Lytton as her co captain
Abby Murphy was in the box again, Lightning took a

(01:40:58):
short handed shot and got back within one for Minnesota
in the first period. But since then, the Badgers have
stepped on the gas and it's pretty similar to what
we saw in yesterday's game, because the Badgers had a
very good second period last night, and of course the
third period of where everything collapsed. But the difference between
last night's second period and today's second period is they.

Speaker 29 (01:41:18):
Actually found the back of the net.

Speaker 34 (01:41:20):
They had plenty of shots in the second period last night,
but Hannah Clark was making some incredible saves. They weren't
able to find the net. But today they have and
they added a couple goals in the second period. They'll
see what the Badgers can do in the third period.
It's going to be very interesting because Minnesota is very
good in third periods, the Badgers are as well. Both
teams not so great in first periods, and they're all

(01:41:41):
okay in the second period.

Speaker 29 (01:41:42):
But the third period is the one that we're looking
out for.

Speaker 34 (01:41:45):
Obviously, it's a big mountain to climb for Minnesota, but
I think they can do it anyway. I had a
chance to talk to a couple of players after practice
on Wednesday. I had a chance to talk to Vivian
Jungles at Hannah Halverson, both Minnesota natives of this weekend's
matchup against Minnesota. So we're going to take a listen
to a couple of those. This is the player profile

(01:42:05):
segment brought to you by Goodman's Jewelers Aiden Michael's here
the intermission report on ten seventy the game with Vivian Jungles. Vivian,
you help secure back to back shutouts for Wisconsin this
past weekend. How does that carry the momentum into this
weekend's matchup against Minnesota.

Speaker 35 (01:42:19):
Yes, I think it gives us a little bit of
confidence going into this weekend, but it is a new weekend,
new team, so going to play.

Speaker 34 (01:42:25):
With an edge on our shoulders and talking about your
personal confidence. Obviously scoring last weekend multipoint game, first of
the season, what does that do for your confidence personally?

Speaker 35 (01:42:36):
Yeah, I think it's still early in the season. Getting
used to everything and with lots of injuries, that every
game is a new game and you don't know what's
going to happen, So just making sure that you're ready
for anything.

Speaker 34 (01:42:48):
You say, somebody look up to as former Badger Grace
Bowlby obviously went to the same high school as you.
What are the similarities that we see from her game
that translates into your game?

Speaker 35 (01:42:58):
I think just she has really good vision and her
skating abilities ability, So I hope that I can kind
of integrate that into my own game and I look
up to her.

Speaker 34 (01:43:07):
Now, we all remember what happened the last time we
played Minnesota in the semifinal game, quite a physical one,
a lot of penalties. Obviously the Badgers ended up getting
the win and route to the National Championship game.

Speaker 29 (01:43:18):
Is there going to be some of that?

Speaker 34 (01:43:19):
Obviously we saw what happened in the Minnesota Ohio State
game with all the suspensions. Are you going to expect
a physical game? Is that something that's even on your
mind what happened last time?

Speaker 1 (01:43:26):
Or is this just a new game for you guys.

Speaker 35 (01:43:29):
I think it's a new game. It is a border battle,
so it's always going to be physical. But We'll let
the rest do their jobs and try to stay disciplined.

Speaker 34 (01:43:37):
All right, thank you very much. Aiden Michael's here on
ten seventy of the game. Here on the intermission report
here with Hannah Halvers and Hannah are you good? How
are you fantastic? Thanks for joining me. You got your
first goal of this season last weekend and your first
point since the opening game.

Speaker 29 (01:43:50):
What does that do for your confidence?

Speaker 34 (01:43:52):
Kind of get that monkey off your back?

Speaker 36 (01:43:53):
Yeah, I mean it's great to always just get the
first goal out of the way, and it just makes
me excited to play more and hopefully keep them coming.

Speaker 34 (01:44:01):
So yeah, and then obviously last weekend got a couple
of big wins, back to back shutouts. Of course, big
message sending to Minnesota obviously the number three team in
the nation.

Speaker 10 (01:44:11):
You guys are still undefeated.

Speaker 34 (01:44:12):
What kind of message do you think that sends to
the Gophers.

Speaker 36 (01:44:15):
I think that makes them want to beat us even more.
They're going to bring their a game, and so we
have to bring ours as well, and it's going to
be a good battle.

Speaker 34 (01:44:22):
And obviously we saw what happened in the last game
against Minnesota in the semifinal. I mean, Badgers handled Minnesota
pretty well throughout the season, but that game specifically obviously
very physical with the whole Caroline Harvey hit and then
the penalty getting right back at her. What is that
or do you think about that heading into this game
or do you kind of brush that aside?

Speaker 23 (01:44:41):
I think we just brush it aside.

Speaker 36 (01:44:43):
Emotions are always high in these games and it's always
going to be physical, but to just kind of leave
it out there, no retaliation and just play our game
as Badgers and yeah, we'll do well.

Speaker 34 (01:44:54):
And being from the state of Minnesota, does this add
to the incentive of trying to beat the Gophers at all?

Speaker 23 (01:44:59):
For sure?

Speaker 36 (01:45:00):
I always love playing Minnesota. It's my favorite series of
the whole year, So I love it.

Speaker 10 (01:45:05):
All right, thank you?

Speaker 29 (01:45:06):
Yeah, all right?

Speaker 34 (01:45:08):
Well there you heard it from Vivian Jungles and Hannah Halverson. Obviously,
Minnesota natives looking forward to this series against Minnesota for
that reason, but also because they are one of the
best teams in the nation, and obviously after losing five
to one to them last night, looking to get away
with the series with a sweep and hopefully they can
enjoy the rest of their hallow weekend with a win.

(01:45:31):
And they want to send Minnesota home a little bit
sad on their bus ride home to conclude hollow weekend.
It's been a very busy hockey weekend here in Madison.
The men's team from Minnesota also in town. Badgers got
it done in that first game. Minnesota looking for a
split there in the men's thing, but right now for
the women's we have one more period of play to go.

(01:45:54):
The Badgers, as I said, have been quite dominant so
far in the game, but it is far from over.
We've seen Minnesota come back from much worse than this. Obviously,
the Badgers have blown leads before like this. These are
two incredibly great teams, and we have to look at
the other one of the teams of the Big three
between Ohio State, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Ohio State narrowly beat

(01:46:14):
Saint Thomas in overtime yesterday. Their game's going on right now,
so we'll keep you updated with that because that is
a big swing. If the Badgers and Minnesota Golden Gophers
split this series and Ohio State gets to sweep, perhaps
we could see Wisconsin be dethroned from the number one
spot and Ohio State could jump up to number one

(01:46:35):
and it's going to be interesting to see what they
do with Minnesota as well in the rankings. Of course,
if they can sweep Wisconsin, that would be the ideal
situation for them, and they've got quite a tough schedule
coming up. They had Minnesota Duluth last weekend. They're number
four ranked. The weekend before, they split a series with
Ohio State, which was big for them, obviously doing it
away from home, and obviously we saw what happened with

(01:46:56):
that with all the suspensions and match penalties that came
along along with that. After the game, there was a big,
big scrum after that Minnesota win. But they were able
to get the split series and take a big win
against Ohio State which helped them in the rankings, and
of course getting a big win against number one Wisconsin,
ending the unbeaten streak for the Badgers, to say the least.

(01:47:19):
So we'll see what happens in the third period. The
injury woes, however, have continued for Wisconsin. Thankfully, Maggie Scannal
was back in the game. She took a shot to
the head and I believe was cut by her helmet,
perhaps a pressure cut she left in the first period.
Did not return, but then she was out there to
start the second period, so no where is there. But
toward the end of the second period a big one.

(01:47:41):
The leading goal scorer for Wisconsin with eleven goals this season,
Cassie Hall went down, was not putting much pressure on
her right leg and obviously did not return. It was
toward the end of the period anyway, so we hope
to see her in the third period because this would
be very bad.

Speaker 29 (01:47:57):
Obviously, shapoval I Vova is at with an injury. Landy
Potter's out with an injury.

Speaker 34 (01:48:02):
We don't know if it's an injury or not to
Ava Murphy, but she is out as well after playing
in last night's game. Leila Edwards and Kristen Simms still
not out one hundred percent. You can kind of see
it out there, but luckily they both got back on
the scoreesheet, which is fantastic for them, fantastic for the Badgers.

Speaker 29 (01:48:17):
But we'll have to see.

Speaker 34 (01:48:19):
We really hope to see Cassie Hall in the third period.
That'll be in a couple of minutes. We're going to

Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's Hockey presented by Folk Park Plays.

Speaker 3 (01:50:43):
Base Off in the Draw goes all the way back
down to the Badgers zone and we're skating from our
right to our left here in the third period leading
four to one, and back goes the Badgers to regroup
behind their own net Aba McNaught nin goal and the
play is at a near point of the Badger zone.
Dump back deep in the zone by Minnesota. Murphy is

(01:51:06):
out with finale and Lindsey for the Gophers, that's their
number one line and Greene you got her.

Speaker 5 (01:51:12):
An update on Cassie Hall.

Speaker 18 (01:51:13):
Yeah, she took a hard shot, a puck to the
lower right foot. She's gonna be okay. We think she
was going to attempt to play and see how it feels,
but she was hit pretty hard in the right foot.

Speaker 5 (01:51:26):
Face off coming up. That could be hopefully good news.

Speaker 3 (01:51:30):
Yeah, we were talking about they're gonna have to put
up an injury tent outside of the Bond Arena for
the Badge mass unit here in chief Christmas around on
the far side over to trying to control it. But
as Mark said in the pregame show talking about that,
nobody is gonna feel sorry for the Wisconsin Dodgers. You
know you're right there and coming over to set it

(01:51:52):
up in control, come back in over the line and
Nelson with it turning, there's a backhander was steered away.
Edward's tied up the Gophers. They try to get that back.
Then it shot off play down on the corner on
the far side. Badger's there, she is, haul's back out
on the iuse yep or out of the far side,
trying to control it turning, trying to bring it out

(01:52:14):
Wisconsin and Minnesota at full strength. That goes into the
glove of Ava mcnontin, who casually put it away twenty
four to thirteen in shots four to one.

Speaker 5 (01:52:24):
The score.

Speaker 18 (01:52:25):
Yeah, I tell you I don't like the first what
minute nineteen there, we haven't gotten it out of our
own end. So let's see if we can change that
here on this face off to the left, Ava McNaughton.

Speaker 3 (01:52:38):
Badgers come back and KK Harvey maybe can get it done,
but cart is out for the Badgers on the forward line,
so as McCarthy mcarthury carries it in over the line,
went down to the corner on the far side, lighting
and turns. Gophers come back up ice they work it
to the Badger line. Pshova down on the corner on
the right boards for Minnesota around keep in the zone

(01:53:00):
in the corner. They go to Dallas Sandro and it
went in on McNaughton, who covered up and made the
same there to stop to play.

Speaker 18 (01:53:08):
Yeah, yeah, we were making work. Gotta bringing it out
of our own end there. We gotta see what's there
and get it up and out. Badgers are off next weekend.
Then they will go on the road to Saint Cloud
in a couple of weeks. Then they're in a tournament
down in Nashville, Tennessee at Thanksgiving. With these injuries, I'm

(01:53:30):
glad we got to buy Paul exactly, you know, coming
over to pick it up.

Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
And then you've got Saint Cloud and uh, they called
icing is the call. So you're going to the Nashville
Hunt Thanksgiving? Are you gonna make that dope?

Speaker 5 (01:53:49):
Aiden's doing those games?

Speaker 18 (01:53:50):
Okay, all right?

Speaker 5 (01:53:51):
Doing the next four.

Speaker 18 (01:53:52):
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. We went a few
number of years ago and our whole family went down
and it was it was nice Thanksgiving, you know, down
to little tournament down here four years ago, five years ago.

Speaker 3 (01:54:03):
Fay so often the draw back down on the Badger's
zone over to pick it up and control.

Speaker 5 (01:54:09):
And Wisconsin back in their own zone.

Speaker 3 (01:54:12):
We're At this eighteen minute mark of the period, four
to one, Wisconsin play at center ice, so I'm going
to try and pick it up. Minnesota carries it back
in over the line and Jordan is out. Badgers take
that away around on the far side and Badgers tip
it out of the zone off the stick of McCarthy.
Nicely done there. Minnesota quickly in a hurry, tried to

(01:54:34):
lead it out the booming Badgers bring it in over the.

Speaker 5 (01:54:37):
Line and riding scandal shot kicked out.

Speaker 3 (01:54:40):
That was nicely done by Hannah Clark and Wisconsin holds
his zone and right tried to move it toward the
slot and Eden is held up behind the net, worked
her sell free, tried to move it to the slot,
but Minnesota clears it. Kknox it down to the near
board center ice. Badger's just inside the Minnesota line near boards,

(01:55:02):
played at back of a Scannal, centered it in front.

Speaker 5 (01:55:05):
Harvey shut.

Speaker 3 (01:55:10):
K Harvey picks the spot and fires home her sixth
goal of the year, and it's five one Wisconsin man.

Speaker 18 (01:55:21):
That was beautiful. Who was that pass from Scannel or
Eden I'm not sure, but it was a great goal
by Harvey from the slot. Just a beautiful, beautiful play man,
great goal.

Speaker 3 (01:55:37):
KK Harvey is already the highest scoring defensive person for
the Badgers in the hockey history for women's Yeah, over
one hundred and fifty points.

Speaker 5 (01:55:50):
Oh man, see where's she at now?

Speaker 3 (01:55:52):
One hundred and fifty four and in this game she's
got one two three points. She's got one hundred and
fifty seven point, says a defenseman.

Speaker 18 (01:56:02):
Boy, that's a strong contribution there, huh.

Speaker 3 (01:56:05):
Or you bet around on the far side over to
try and pick it up. Whistle and play is going
to be stopped sixteen fifty five, reminting, Well.

Speaker 18 (01:56:15):
I tell you it sure is a lot better feeling
to be on the other side of a game where
the score is five to one than we were yesterday.

Speaker 5 (01:56:24):
Scannal and Eden got assists on that goal.

Speaker 3 (01:56:29):
Face off coming up, and it's the Badgers with a
five to one lead and coming up Ice controlling it
and moving it in through the neutral zone.

Speaker 5 (01:56:38):
Here comes Sims and up the line.

Speaker 3 (01:56:41):
Sims pulls up on the far wing, plays it back
to the point, held in nicely by Edwards. That muscle
to get there, that long reach help. Yeah, back over
to Edwards. Edwards played it around over to the far point.
Nobody home but Sims, who will drive it from the
corner on the far boards to the near side. Chant
of one, two, three, four five, We want more Sims

(01:57:04):
back in behind.

Speaker 5 (01:57:05):
Gorbatanko was there.

Speaker 3 (01:57:07):
Vivian Jungles came over, put it between her skates, try
to get control with the stick, plays it around over
to Sims, still on the far boards. Cassie Hall is
back out on the ice, so that's a good sign.

Speaker 5 (01:57:20):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (01:57:20):
Comes back into the line, over to Sims. Sims moving in,
try to go to the tow drag. Lost control of
the puck and it's going to be set up in
the neutral zone. In over the line, trying to control
it there as Nelson and turning coming up ice play
in the neutral zone. Badger's cover to try and pick
it up.

Speaker 5 (01:57:40):
Per Card is out.

Speaker 3 (01:57:41):
There's a shot, got deep. Nice effort there, Yeah, and
the shot tipped by Helberson. She's having a good game,
Yeah she is. Maybe there's something to do with playing
against Minnesota. Yep, she's otavi Dina Minnesota was miss hockey
in Minnesota.

Speaker 5 (01:57:59):
Want a state champampionship there wound up here.

Speaker 3 (01:58:03):
Love the school academics, great facility, said, always wanted to
play once she got a little bit accustomed to what
Wisconsin was all about. And there's a penalty coming up,
and it's going to be on Hannah Halverson. I think
so yeah, I got a little too aggressive, and that's
going to give the Gophers a power play opportunity here

(01:58:29):
on the power play, Hannah's first the Badger's first penalty
of the game here.

Speaker 18 (01:58:34):
Well, you know, Paul, yesterday, the penalty's kind of hurt us.
You know, it's hard to play a team this strong
Lake Minnesota and play a man short and expect to
have success. And so today we've stayed out of the
box pretty well for the most part. Let's see if

(01:58:58):
the Cards can win.

Speaker 3 (01:58:59):
To draw, Badger's trying to get it out of the
zone shorthanded around out on top of Minnesota over to
try and set it up. The Gophers did get a
power player or a shorthanded goal in this game.

Speaker 5 (01:59:13):
There's a shot goal.

Speaker 3 (01:59:15):
Man yep, that was Murphy from the high slot. App
Abby Murphy gets the goals. He's now got sixteen goals
on the year for Abby Murphy.

Speaker 18 (01:59:27):
A risk shot from the high slot up high over
Ava's blocker. Shot by Murphy.

Speaker 5 (01:59:34):
Five fourteen the time of the penalty, son of a gun.

Speaker 18 (01:59:40):
Like I said, we want to stay out of the box.
Right here we go.

Speaker 3 (01:59:47):
And sixteen goals in ten eleven games, huh, that's not bad, jeez.

Speaker 18 (01:59:53):
And she ripped that one.

Speaker 3 (01:59:58):
Lightening and and Lindsey got assists on that goal. Yeah,
the Minnesota with a power play.

Speaker 5 (02:00:08):
And moving it in. There's Abby with a shot and
the cover up in the sit.

Speaker 18 (02:00:12):
Oh no, what happened here?

Speaker 5 (02:00:14):
Now Harvey really decked Abby Murphy.

Speaker 18 (02:00:20):
I don't know if I don't think they're calling anything.

Speaker 5 (02:00:22):
Or remember when Abby did that?

Speaker 18 (02:00:26):
Yeah to Harvey? Yeah, little payback time?

Speaker 29 (02:00:29):
Huh whoa.

Speaker 18 (02:00:30):
But let's see are they gonna Yeah, they're gonna take
somebody in the box, or taking Leila Edwards or she
just asking.

Speaker 5 (02:00:36):
About Yeah, she's asking about it.

Speaker 18 (02:00:38):
They're gonna take Harvey to the box. I think, wow,
son of a gun. Well, it was after the whistle
for the most part, or after the play was over
behind the extended goal line below.

Speaker 5 (02:00:53):
I wonder if they're still friends.

Speaker 18 (02:00:55):
Yeah, you wonder. They're both very competitive, that's one thing. Uh,
But we're gonna go and the penalty kill here.

Speaker 3 (02:01:04):
It looks like, I'll tell you what a Yeah, you
can't if they'd score again, Oh you got a whole
new game.

Speaker 18 (02:01:12):
No, we cannot allow that, regardless of how many people
we got.

Speaker 5 (02:01:15):
Yeah, Harvey is going to the box. Let's hold it.

Speaker 18 (02:01:22):
It's just two cross chest yeah, two minutes. I wonder
if something preceded that that prompted Harvey to take that action,
which really is not warnted either way.

Speaker 5 (02:01:35):
But uh.

Speaker 18 (02:01:38):
So we're uh penalty kill again. Here, Eden's gonna take
the draw, will smile. Yeah, that changes things a little bit.

Speaker 5 (02:01:46):
Yep, And the draw comes back over.

Speaker 3 (02:01:49):
Here's lighting and around on the far side over to
try and pick it up, and they try to go
back door over the moving down in the corner, trying
to control it. Play down deep in the zone in
the corner, back on the right side and controlling it.
The Badgers try to get it out of the zone,
lightning skating in. It comes back over, they set it up,
shot and why of the goal five to two Wisconsin,

(02:02:11):
but Minnesota.

Speaker 5 (02:02:13):
On the power play again.

Speaker 3 (02:02:15):
We're down to fourteen oh nine were minute, they'll move
it in lightning with a drive and the shot and
that man, I don't want it hit but it's gone yeah,
up out of maybe went and hit the netting. I'm
not sure.

Speaker 18 (02:02:28):
Murphy took a blast, a one timer from the off
wing over on the left wing. She's a right hander.

Speaker 3 (02:02:34):
Twenty seven remaining in the penalty time. This is a
key penalty kill here.

Speaker 18 (02:02:39):
Not Kidd and Paul. This is a game changer here
really or could be finale.

Speaker 3 (02:02:45):
Will try to win the face off, I believe for
the Gophers in the faceoff circle, and per Card is
in for.

Speaker 18 (02:02:54):
The Badger yep. I like the odds with per Card
in there. There's a good job in the face See
if she can win this one.

Speaker 3 (02:03:05):
Based off coming up to the right side of Ava McNaughton.
Back in the Wisconsin zone. One twenty seven aremitting in
a penalty time the draw. Badgers look to try and
bring it out and with it is Leyley Edwards and
she drove it the length of the ice. Yeah, wisely
hopped over the stick of Hannah Clark. Gophers come back.

(02:03:25):
They look at the clock, they still got one fourteen
remitting on the power play. They come out of their
own zone through they bring it through center ice over
to Abby Murphy in the slot, shot right on.

Speaker 5 (02:03:37):
On the cover up by Ava McNaughton.

Speaker 3 (02:03:39):
They see their nice puck movement on the part of
Minnesota set they get up for the opportunity.

Speaker 18 (02:03:45):
They've got a strong power play. They do they really
do it.

Speaker 3 (02:03:49):
They play really well positionally in terms of where they
move the puck and people being in the right spots.
Four Reminting comes back to the point over to the
lightning back on the wing and the Minnesota will look
to set it up and they control still on the
power play.

Speaker 5 (02:04:09):
Five two back out on top lightning.

Speaker 3 (02:04:12):
There's a drive kicked out by Ava McNaughton against Abby Murphy.
Abby controlling it. Abby brings it along the boards on
the near side. Minnesota over to set it up, booming
with it little give and go moving with.

Speaker 5 (02:04:27):
A drive right on in. The save is made.

Speaker 3 (02:04:30):
She was trying to pick her spot over the lightening
with a shot kicked out by Ava McNaughton for around.

Speaker 5 (02:04:36):
Of the far boards.

Speaker 3 (02:04:37):
Minnesota setting it up on the power play comes around
on the right side. We're down to twenty seconds reminting
and fanning on the drive is Abby Murphy and.

Speaker 5 (02:04:48):
It's going to be cleared.

Speaker 3 (02:04:49):
Minnesota holds it at the point and the Gophers will
set it up maybe one more chance. Here there's a
drive booming with it covering in the Badgers banging around
the boards.

Speaker 5 (02:05:00):
Two seconds remaining, and KK comes out of the box.

Speaker 3 (02:05:04):
There's a shot fired high and wide of the goal.
Harvey's back in the play. Both teams are at full
strength and Wisconsin trying to get it out of their
own zone. Oil over to Harvey. Harvey moving it up ice,
controlling it. KK comes in over the line. KK on
a mission the way it looks within a drive, good shot,

(02:05:25):
and the play continues on the wing on the near side.
Wisconsin comes back of the Harvey drops it back in
the Wisconsin.

Speaker 5 (02:05:32):
Zone and trying to play it ahead.

Speaker 3 (02:05:35):
Eleven fifty eight reminting in the period Minnesota back. The
score remains five to two. Now the Golfers commit a
checking against the back wall. They're on sims and that's
gonna give the Badgers a power play opportunity.

Speaker 18 (02:05:51):
I tell you, Paul, I'm so glad we got out
of that penalty. Killed boy. This is not an easy one.
They had the puck in our own end most of
the time.

Speaker 3 (02:06:00):
Now, let's see if the Badgers can keep the buck
in the Minnesota hand.

Speaker 18 (02:06:04):
Yeah, I'd like that.

Speaker 5 (02:06:06):
We're gonna take a thirty second break. This is Wisconsin
Badger Hockey.

Speaker 7 (02:06:15):
Reach fours.

Speaker 14 (02:06:16):
Guy.

Speaker 6 (02:06:17):
At Fields, you're never just a customer.

Speaker 7 (02:06:20):
Your superstar.

Speaker 6 (02:06:22):
You're celebrated. Every visit is personal.

Speaker 7 (02:06:25):
Gotcham your superstar.

Speaker 6 (02:06:28):
You're not like the rest, neither are we. You're a
superstar and at Fields we treat you like one.

Speaker 8 (02:06:38):
And Madison Vermdison dot com.

Speaker 3 (02:06:43):
Around back in behind that at Wisconsin on the power
play with one forty three remaining on the man advantage
and coming up ice kk Harvey with it on the
wing over the Layley Edwards given goal from Edwards and
Harvey Harvey turns and plays it back in behind Minnesota
turning trying to bring it out of their own zone

(02:07:04):
and they do clear it back down, going over to
pick it up Wisconsin back and they'll set it up
to come out of the zone on the near wing
with it as Kirsten Simms rink out in the pass
over to Layla Edwards. Layla comes in over the line,
lost control of the puck, peeking hog in there, back
over to Harvey. Harvey with it off and then Layla

(02:07:26):
fanned on the drive and covering up is handsome to
make the save good idea.

Speaker 18 (02:07:30):
That was the same situation like the last goal that
she scored on that off wing by the dot on
the left side. One time it'd been fanned.

Speaker 3 (02:07:42):
Ten of minutes fifty five seconds, remitting one oh four
on the penalty time. Wisconsin with a powerplay opportunity in
a five to two score here, and it's set up
Venusio on the wing near boards on the play back
over to Scannal Scandal back on the point on the
pass over the Venusio round on the far side, jungles

(02:08:04):
on the play there's a shot blocked Gassie Hall with
it behind the app Gassie with it controls the buckstick,
handling just inside the blue line. Gassie on the far
side comes back on the pass to Venusu shot goal
by Balusio.

Speaker 31 (02:08:23):
Banusio stores for the batterers and with Jenson is.

Speaker 5 (02:08:29):
Out in front, six to two man.

Speaker 18 (02:08:33):
Nice shot with a pass from Hall there. She Hall
had possession of it quite a while there, and when
she saw Venusio on the opposite side, slid it over
to her and Venusio had a great shot to beat
that goaltender.

Speaker 3 (02:08:46):
Clark her first goal of the year. Oh man five
the time of the penalty. We needed that goal, potep exactly,
big time. Keep it going here people. So Venusio gets
the goal, the assist by Cassie Hall and Vivian Jungles Badgers.

(02:09:09):
Oh and there's a check on Hannah Helberson.

Speaker 18 (02:09:12):
He's still down. I'm not sure what. I don't want
any after the whistle stuff. Just get away from there, right,
Hall's okay, she got up on her own power and
she's off to the bench now.

Speaker 3 (02:09:32):
A little bit of an attitude developing here on this game. Yeah,
you got two very competitive teams. Don't want it to
get You can sense the tension in the air out there.
Got to remain disciplined, walk away after the whistle blows. Well,
Minnesota had trouble with the Buckeyes of Ohio State, and.

Speaker 18 (02:09:52):
I think they're putting the Alessandro in the box for
the Gophers. So we'll be on the power play once again.

Speaker 3 (02:10:00):
Ten minutes and twelve seconds are manning in that that games. Yeah,
the confrontation happened at the end of the game. Oh really,
after they had a couple of people come out of
the penalty box and get into it on the ice
after the game.

Speaker 5 (02:10:14):
They had one game suspensions one first team.

Speaker 18 (02:10:17):
Yeah, the league doesn't need that, you know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (02:10:19):
Comes around over to Harvey.

Speaker 3 (02:10:20):
Harvey with a drive and it's going to be blocked
and played back down in the corner twenty nine to
seventeen and shot six to the lead for the Badgers
here and working it up ice, controlling it, coming back
in of the line with it as Kirsten sent be
cover the weedon.

Speaker 5 (02:10:36):
Out in front.

Speaker 3 (02:10:37):
Shot blocked reybound, is going to be cleared away. Badgers
have scored a couple of goals here in the third period.
They had two in the first, couple in the second,
and now two here in the third and coming up
ice with it is Pekanagan who played it back in
over the line. Wisconsin going back and they still have

(02:10:59):
one oh nine manning on the power plays with it.
McNaughton whipping it out over to Kirsten Simms. Kirsten comes
through cent her eyes, carries it in over the Minnesota line,
drops it back to the point to Eden.

Speaker 5 (02:11:13):
Eden gives it to Garvey or a KK. Harvey oh,
and KK got tripped up.

Speaker 3 (02:11:19):
She thought a penalty should have been called there, didn't
get it back over the Jungles. Jungles with it back
over to Harvey. Harvey works the wing on the right side.
Kk's going off and they move it. Oh back, George.
Jungles was right there. I thought maybe she'd get one.

Speaker 5 (02:11:35):
And open net coming back the other way.

Speaker 3 (02:11:37):
Eight forty three remaining Badgers come back in over the line,
Scannal with it. Scannal goes behind the net, carries the
buck around to the point on the pass the Jungles.
They come around over to Venusio with a shot right
on backhand or by Scannal. Buck came loose whistle and
play is going to be stopped.

Speaker 18 (02:11:56):
You can see Venusio another chance maybe her Yeah yeah,
you can see her just boming at the bit there
and rip that shot on Ned. It was a good shot.
Oh yeah, I like that action.

Speaker 3 (02:12:13):
Venusio getting her second goal in her career at Wisconsin.
And it comes back over to the point. Here's Venusio
with it. Jungles with a drive.

Speaker 18 (02:12:22):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (02:12:24):
Gorbatanco gets her second goal of the game, eight of
the year. But a beautiful setup by Vivian Jungle, wasn't
it though?

Speaker 5 (02:12:33):
Wow?

Speaker 18 (02:12:35):
Yeah, Jungles is out on the point, kind of near
the left point. She sees Gorbatanko down low, slides it
right to her kind of like almost like a shot pass,
but it was a pass and boom, Gorbatanco put it away.
Beautiful goal. Just a beautiful goal on a pass from Jungles. Wow,

(02:12:56):
I like it, Paul.

Speaker 5 (02:12:57):
I'll tell you Jungles.

Speaker 3 (02:12:59):
She doesn't standout, yeah, but she is an unbelievably dependable
and good player.

Speaker 5 (02:13:06):
It rarely makes a mistake.

Speaker 18 (02:13:08):
Smart as a whip man, and a smooth shot, great skater.

Speaker 3 (02:13:13):
You know, she kind of reminds me of not in
terms of ability or whatever, but you remember on the
men's side, Brian.

Speaker 18 (02:13:20):
Rafalski, Oh yeah, yeah, very much.

Speaker 5 (02:13:23):
A small guy.

Speaker 3 (02:13:25):
You didn't really notice him, and all he did all
of his career is do the right thing.

Speaker 5 (02:13:30):
And then when he left, you go, that dude was
pretty good.

Speaker 18 (02:13:33):
I'm getting goosebu I got a story about him when
we get a chance here and you bring back a
good memory there, and that's a valid comparison there.

Speaker 5 (02:13:42):
It goings the right way, yep, and it.

Speaker 3 (02:13:44):
Comes around on the wrap around, moving it in McCroby
in the drive and it's going to be blocked coming
back over to set it up and control it, and
all that sent her eyes back as McCarthy. McCarthy comes
in over the line on the farboards, plays it back
down in behind the head of Wisconsin. Badgers look to
set it up as Wisconsin now Vivian Jungles and they'll

(02:14:08):
play it down on the corner of the right side.

Speaker 5 (02:14:10):
Seven to two Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (02:14:13):
As some people were surprised with the score last night,
I think some people will be surprised with the score today.

Speaker 5 (02:14:20):
Vivian Jungles with the drive.

Speaker 18 (02:14:23):
But you just really see what we're capable.

Speaker 3 (02:14:26):
Yeah exactly, but either of these two teams are at
full strength, right exactly.

Speaker 5 (02:14:32):
Minnesota's got two key players out of the lineup.

Speaker 18 (02:14:34):
Yeah, that changes things. Yep.

Speaker 3 (02:14:36):
Seven minutes and ten seconds are many coming up. Ice
controller get coming in over the line. Here's Scandal. Scandal
pulls up. She got some stitches in the second intermission.
Here's KK shot right on blocked in Jungles with a drive.
Another shot deflected wide. It feels like a shooting gallery

(02:14:56):
there for their goal tender. Annah Clark.

Speaker 5 (02:14:58):
Yep, we're putting the pressure on thirty six to seventeen.

Speaker 3 (02:15:01):
They've doubled them in shots and Minnesota carries it in
over the line six point forty, remitting in the period
around on the far boards, coming back over, trying to
control it coming up ice, coming back into the Minnesota zone.
Eden is there along with Cassie Hall over to Layley Edwards.
Layla backs up away from the fore check, Wisconsin trying

(02:15:25):
to pick it up and Gorbatenko back out on the
Hall and Simmons Simms and Wisconsin's Edwards comes through center
ice in the play and tended for Cassie Hall, broken
up by Minnesota. Hall with it turned and played it
back down in the Gopher zone. They've got Hemp in

(02:15:47):
goal now Paul and back yep. They had given some
extent moving it in and there's a drive and it's
down in the corner back along in behind the death.
Minnesota over to set it up seven to two score
and the Gophers just inside the blue line. Shot tipped
in front, going to be cleared by Kirsten sim sim

(02:16:09):
skating up ice, controlling it, looking with a head up
for the outlet on the pass came off her stick
and she'll fire it back to the Badger line quickly
on the tip.

Speaker 5 (02:16:19):
They tried delete it from Harvey to.

Speaker 3 (02:16:20):
Gorbatanko and going back in behind five point twenty remaining
in the period and Wisconsin back controlling it and Minnesota
in the zone of the Badgers. They controlled it with
Poshova and Wisconsin. There's a shot and Badgers will bring
it out of the zone, moving it up Ice controlling it.

(02:16:42):
They'll play it back down in the corner, rolls on
the right side over to Halverson, back in behind the
nap Badgers with pressure. McCarthy comes over to help out.
Badgers work the near wing, trying to stay in the
attack zone here and controlling it the Gophers. Badgers take
that away. Karthy with it turned and tried to go

(02:17:02):
to the slot intended for for card backed out by
Minnesota and uh they come back in over the line.

Speaker 5 (02:17:09):
Christ lost control of the puck.

Speaker 3 (02:17:11):
Minnesota back up the near side, Harvey on the left wing,
skates in over the line, fires at backside wing and
Eden shot it wide by nice play and coming back.
Wisconsin to regroup as the Badgers come over to try
and pick it up. Loosen the neutral zone. Badger's control
with it and right stick handle with the puck carries

(02:17:32):
it in over the line, gives it gives it off
over the scandal. Scandal on the far wing behind the
net on the paths over to win right back cover
to edwards point. Tried to center it toward the slot.
Puck came loose cleared to the wing. Three point fifty
seven are menning in the period. Here Badgers try to
maintain possession of the puck. Scandal on the fore check.

(02:17:54):
Eden comes over to help out, and it's going to
be dumped back down on the zone of Wisconsin. Badger's
quickly ahead on the play enright slides it over to Eden,
eating with it back over the scandal, pull checked off
her stick back the other way. Here's Abby Murphy skates
in over the line. Abby tried to go to the backhander,
pulled up, played it to the far point with a

(02:18:15):
drive behind the net of Wisconsin three twenty five remitting
in the period and going back. Gorbatanko chasing it down.
Can she get the hat trick move again? Tried to
go to the backhander, but cut off on the as
she neared the goalie.

Speaker 5 (02:18:32):
Badger's jungles with it.

Speaker 3 (02:18:33):
We'll backhand it on the far board three h five
remitting in the period, going back over to try and
set it up in control. Wisconsin back in their own zone.
They'll work it up ice and it's going to be controlled.
Coming back into the line. Kirsten Sims, oh man, she
went down and tipped it high of the goal and

(02:18:55):
it's Gorbatanco behind the net to Kirston Sims.

Speaker 5 (02:18:58):
To haul in front.

Speaker 18 (02:18:59):
Still game loose around.

Speaker 3 (02:19:01):
Of the far side over the Kristen sim two thirty
nine remaining in the period and coming through center ice
trying to control it. The play comes up the boards
on the near side and with it Minnesota controlling it.
Jordan Off on the play on the wing near boards
backended down in the corner. We got thirty eight to nineteen.

(02:19:24):
In shot seven to two the score. There's a pass
of the stick of one of the gold over.

Speaker 13 (02:19:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:19:29):
Wow, that was Delsandro who got the pass from one
of the Badgers. There's christ with a drive behind the
net of Wisconsin Roberts. It's going to be played then
Wisconsin turning trying to bring it out of the zone
on the corner on the far side. One fifty four
remaining here, Badgers look to bring.

Speaker 5 (02:19:49):
It out of the zone.

Speaker 3 (02:19:50):
Held in and coming back over as McCarthy tipped it
off the glass, you know, roll it back down on
the corner, going back up to pick it up and control.
Minnesota comes out of their own zone. Kaiser with it.
Kaiser skates in over the line. Kaiser had a cleared
from her stick, laid back in the corner in behind

(02:20:11):
the NAT around on the far side. Nelson with it,
and it's gonna be held in by Minnesota and the
neutral zone over it to try and pick it up
and whistling action's gonna be stopped.

Speaker 5 (02:20:22):
We're gonna take a break. This is Wisconsin Badger hockey.

Speaker 6 (02:20:27):
Oh how's that flu?

Speaker 24 (02:20:28):

Speaker 6 (02:20:28):

Speaker 5 (02:20:31):

Speaker 33 (02:20:56):
My overall experience with Grougul offices has been phenomen.

Speaker 10 (02:21:00):
The treatment was excellent they will.

Speaker 32 (02:21:02):
Be supportive of you, they will listen to you.

Speaker 8 (02:21:03):
It was a great experience knowing that I had people
to help me.

Speaker 30 (02:21:07):
And know I could plan on them to do what
I needed to get done.

Speaker 8 (02:21:09):
Experience with girls great. They gave me my life back.

Speaker 10 (02:21:12):
It was amazing.

Speaker 8 (02:21:13):
He gets results.

Speaker 10 (02:21:15):
We know how to win.

Speaker 18 (02:21:17):
If you've been injured. Called Ruger La Offices, one call.

Speaker 10 (02:21:21):
That's all.

Speaker 6 (02:21:22):
Grouper Law Offices had my best interests at heart.

Speaker 1 (02:21:26):
Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's hockey presented by Old Park Plays.

Speaker 3 (02:21:32):
We're back here at Lavon Arena where the Badgers are
going to win the game.

Speaker 5 (02:21:37):
They're going to be eleven and one on the year.
The Gophers will be ten and two.

Speaker 3 (02:21:42):
And they split the weekend series here. And I would
think there were a certain amount of people that know
what's going on in women's college hockey that would have
said a split was a realistic thing the weekend.

Speaker 18 (02:21:55):
Yeah, I agree, both evenly matched teams are both plagued
by a couple of injuries.

Speaker 3 (02:21:59):
You know, and all come as yet it's maybe not
a surprise and coming over to try and pick it up,
it's going to be an offside called what it showed
me obviously, and it's obvious, it's almost redundant to even
make the statement, but two of the best teams in
the country are probably on the ice here.

Speaker 18 (02:22:18):
Yeah, I would agree with you, Paul, and they're both
going to win a lot of games. That's a valid
objective comment.

Speaker 5 (02:22:25):
And it comes around on the far side over to
control of it.

Speaker 3 (02:22:27):
Here's KK Harvey playing it back down in the corner
and it's going to go in behind the net. These
two clubs will see each other more than just the
regular season series and in the Twin Cities.

Speaker 5 (02:22:41):
That it's going to be played back down in the corner.

Speaker 3 (02:22:43):
There's the playoffs, of course, and less than a minute
to play in regulation time and right with it down
in the corner, Gorbatanco's got two goals in this game,
Scandal's got one, Sims has got one, Harvey's got one,
Venusio's got one, and Leyle Edwards has got one.

Speaker 5 (02:23:05):
Seven to two.

Speaker 3 (02:23:05):
The score and play along the boards on the near side,
Minnesota twenty eight seconds remitting now lightening with it. Lightning
plays it into the line and Abby at the blue
line is offside. Abby Murphy, who've got two goals this weekend.
Now as sixteen on.

Speaker 5 (02:23:24):
The year man in eleven games.

Speaker 18 (02:23:26):
Yeah, and she plays at a high rate of speed,
you know, in addition to we're good shooting. She's one
of those that, yeah, pretty complete player. You notice on
the ice, she's an agitator. She's a great hockey player.
She's tough to play against. But you'd love to have
her on your team, right, Yeah, love her on your
own team. Hater on the opposition.

Speaker 3 (02:23:49):
And the fans appreciating the efforts of the Wisconsin Badgers.
There's a shot picked out of the air by Ava McNaughton. Yeah,
five seconds remnting well after the third period yesterday and
the Badger's score was released, I'm sure around the country
for people that are interested in women's hockey, they looked

(02:24:11):
and go.

Speaker 5 (02:24:12):
What yup?

Speaker 18 (02:24:13):
Exactly?

Speaker 5 (02:24:13):
Are you kidding me? What happened in Madison? Yup? And
they're anxiously looking again today and you go, well, there
it is.

Speaker 18 (02:24:21):
Yeah, we're right and the wrong.

Speaker 3 (02:24:22):
Yeah, having a two win for the Wisconsin Badgers. Your
thoughts there, Greenny.

Speaker 18 (02:24:27):
Well, I tell you it was good to see our
response today and we saw contributions from an array of
people play every you know, with the injuries and whatnot
that are occurring, so I was really happy with the
overall performance.

Speaker 3 (02:24:39):
We'll all be back after this time out. This is
Wisconsin Badger Women's Hockey.

Speaker 5 (02:24:44):
Thanks Paul.

Welcome back to Wisconsin Women's hockey presented by Oak Park Place,
and we're back.

Speaker 3 (02:25:52):
Here at levond Arena along with a Michaels. I'm Paul Brown,
where the Batters have defeated the Minnesota Goldens by a
score of seven to two and that's a big victory
for the Badgers. And joining us downstairs is assistant head
coach Dan Cook along with aid and Michaels. Paul Brown

(02:26:13):
up here. Dan, you got to be very gratified at
the way the team responded after the game last night.

Speaker 37 (02:26:20):
Yeah, you know, he showed some video this morning and
talked about, you know, the difference was there's gonna be
a bunch of fifty to fifty battles out there, and
if we can get you know, to sixty seventy seventy
five percent and win those, you know, we could create
some opportunities. And we were able to do that.

Speaker 34 (02:26:37):
And Aidan Michael's here, coach. Good to see sims and
Edwards back on the score sheet. Obviously they're looking good
after the injury. I mean, how good is that for
their confidence and for the confidence of the rest of
the team to have these players back.

Speaker 29 (02:26:49):
In the lineup.

Speaker 37 (02:26:50):
Yeah, I thought they both, you know, did remarkable coming
back after three weeks off and contributing yesterday. It's never easy,
especially coming into a game at that pace, and so
I would say it took them a few minutes, but
they settled right back in like they used to be.

Speaker 24 (02:27:04):
So it was awesome.

Speaker 3 (02:27:06):
Dan, you're a little shorthanded, they're back at the blue
line and that kind of thing. But overall the performance,
how you evaluate defensively all they played today.

Speaker 37 (02:27:15):
Yeah, we definitely eliminated their shot total. We cut that
down and really proud of the group. You know, they
played a lot of minutes, they blocked some shots, and
there's still things we got to work on. You know,
we haven't played a lot in our end this year
until this weekend, and you know, diluted sometimes and so
we have to make sure we're solid in our one
on one play down low.

Speaker 29 (02:27:36):
You know, for the players that are here.

Speaker 34 (02:27:37):
Obviously, with this off week coming up, what does this
week look like ahead of next series in a couple
of weeks away at Saint Cloud.

Speaker 37 (02:27:44):
The nice thing is we got a few days we're
going to try and get healthy. That will be the
huge thing. You know, we think we're in shape. We
played well the second night. A lot of girls played
a lot of minutes that might not play that many,
and I think our conditioning was a big part for today.
So we're just going to try and get healthy, is
the main thing.

Speaker 5 (02:28:00):
I'll tell you what that's been.

Speaker 3 (02:28:02):
Last year, you made it through almost the entire season,
didn't you, Dan, with relatively no injuries, And now this
year they've all gotten at a short period of time.
And then today we saw Hall and when she left
the ice, you thought, oh no, here's another one coming up.

Speaker 10 (02:28:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 37 (02:28:20):
Yeah, And obviously Maggie in the first period took that
puck to the head got five stitches, so we didn't
know if she was going to come.

Speaker 1 (02:28:27):
Back, and then Hall too, so.

Speaker 37 (02:28:30):
Yeah, you never know. We're hoping we're getting the injury
bug here early and then the second half you can really,
you know, stay healthy and make a good run.

Speaker 34 (02:28:38):
Yeah, And obviously with all those injuries makes for a
lot of changes, both on the blue line and with
the forwards.

Speaker 29 (02:28:45):
How often are those being switched around?

Speaker 34 (02:28:46):
I mean, are those are there different combinations that you
think of during the during the game as it kind
of just heads up like get on the ice.

Speaker 18 (02:28:53):
Here or what.

Speaker 37 (02:28:54):
Yeah, you know, it's next woman up. You know, she
came up, and she stepped up. And we had some
players playing different positions, usually wingers playing centers. We had
different players on the power play, and the girls did
a great job of making the most of their opportunities.

Speaker 3 (02:29:11):
Well, celebrate that was a big win yesterday. I'm sure
was a head shaker for some people when they saw
the score.

Speaker 5 (02:29:18):
Today. Might be the same way reversed, hunk, Yeah, it
might be.

Speaker 37 (02:29:22):
But you know, I think both teams are going to
take this as learning experiences.

Speaker 3 (02:29:26):
Right.

Speaker 37 (02:29:27):
There's a lot of hockey left in this season, so
where we look at every opportunity is a chance to
get better.

Speaker 5 (02:29:33):
All right, thank you, coach, We appreciated.

Speaker 18 (02:29:35):
Thanks BB, Thank you.

Speaker 34 (02:29:39):
All right was Coach Cook with his postgame thoughts Aiden
Michaels Paul Brown on the postgame show here at Labon
Arena in Madison, Wisconsin. After the Badgers lost five to
one in last night's game, we thought all hope was
lost after a disastrous third period, but the Badgers came
back and won a big one. Devin to two is

(02:30:01):
the final score. Kelly Gorbtenko with another multi goal game.
She's got a lot of fans in the crowd as
she'll be announced as one of the three stars of
the game for sure. She had her four game goalstreak
cut short after last night's game, but she got on
the score. She not once but twice here today to
cop off the seven to two victory against Minnesota.

Speaker 29 (02:30:21):
They split the series.

Speaker 34 (02:30:22):
It's an off week next weekend and the Badges will
be back in action at Saint Cloud on the fourteenth
and fifteenth of November.

Speaker 29 (02:30:30):
But that's gonna do it from Lebon.

Speaker 34 (02:30:31):
Those are the final stats presented by J and K
Security for Mark Greenhall Paul Brown. I made in Michaels
thanks for tuning in on ten to seventy of the game.
Wisconsin seven Minnesota two.

Speaker 29 (02:30:42):
Goodbye everybody.

Speaker 5 (02:30:44):
From the draw comes Uberdevivian Jungles.

Speaker 3 (02:30:48):
She fires that I have and tried delete it on
the play over to Eden and it slides in on
the goaltender Clark.

Speaker 5 (02:30:54):
And she put it away and made the shape and
there Jarvey.

Speaker 18 (02:30:59):
With a prost the goal.

Speaker 5 (02:31:01):
Scannal gets the goal for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Speaker 3 (02:31:06):
Fourteen seconds into the game. Scannal scores goal number six
for her and number fourteen of the Badgers gets the
team a one to nothing lead and Wisconsin, with pressure
moves it out in front.

Speaker 7 (02:31:23):
Shutting out.

Speaker 3 (02:31:25):
Kirsten Simms gets a beautiful path and fires home for
sixth goal of the year, and Wisconsin leads it two
to nothing. Two forty two into the first period, over
to Layla.

Speaker 5 (02:31:41):
With a drive.

Speaker 3 (02:31:41):
Sims gets it back, pulls it up back over shot
by the goal. Corvetanko gets the goal for the Wisconsin Badgers,
their seventh goal of the year, and Wisconsin takes the
lead at three to one. Wisconsin near ports over to

(02:32:02):

Lale Edwards trips it into the twine gets the goal

Speaker 18 (02:32:17):
The Badger score their twelve power play goal.

Speaker 5 (02:32:21):
And lead at four to one.

Speaker 3 (02:32:23):
Badger's just inside the Minnesota line, near Ports bladed back
up an a scandal centered it.

Speaker 1 (02:32:29):
In front, Harvey shutdo.

Speaker 11 (02:32:34):
Tak.

Speaker 3 (02:32:35):
Harvey picks the spot and fires home or sixth goal
of the year.

Speaker 5 (02:32:41):
And it's five one.

Speaker 3 (02:32:44):
Wisconsin, Gassy on the far side, comes back on the pass.

Speaker 5 (02:32:47):
Of Venusu shut up the goal by Balusio.

Speaker 31 (02:32:54):
Banusio Stores for the Badgers and Wisconson.

Speaker 3 (02:32:59):
Is out in front six to two and it comes
back over to the point. Here's on top the Jungles
with a drive, got through the jungles. Barbatango, Wow, Gorbatanco
gets her second goal of the game for eight of
the year. What a beautiful setup by Vivian Jungle, wasn't

(02:33:21):
it though?

Speaker 26 (02:33:22):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
