My name's aiden Michael.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Twer here for the second game of the two game
series between the number one rank Wisconsin Badgers and the
number ten Saint Cloud Huskies. In this WCCHA matchup. The
Badgers first place in the country but also in the WCHA,
whereas the Saint Cloud State Huskies are currently in last
place in the WCCHA after a very very tough start

(03:04):
to this season schedule wise, as they've had to play
top five matchup in five of their last six series. Now,
last night, the Badgers earned their one hundredth victory in
program history against Saint Cloud State. The Huskies become the
third team in the country that the Badgers have reached
one hundred wins against, joining Minnesota State, who the Badgers
have beat one hundred and three times, and Bamidgie State,

(03:25):
whom the Badgers have beat one hundred times, eclipsing that
total back in September to begin the season. It all
started with a goal two minutes in from Emma Venusio.
She scored just her third career goal and second of
the season. She now has the first goalstreak of her career,
as she also scored in the latter game against Minnesota
two series ago or two weekends ago. That is, then,

(03:47):
in the second period, ten minutes apart, captain Caroline Harvey,
who else, scored twice, one of which was on the
power play. We'll talk about that in a second, and
both goals were assisted by Kirsten Simms. Harvey, who was
named the HCA ANDA Defender of the Month and WCHA
Defender of the Week got our goal tally up to
eight this season and her point tally up to twenty three.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
With her three.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Point game last night, she now has become Wisconsin's all
time leader in goals by a defender, passing Sis Paulson,
who of course was on that coaching staff a couple
of years ago, then went to the PWHL to be
on the coaching staff there in the professional league. The
top line for Saint Clouds State they got one back
late in the second period.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
It was a defensive breakdown.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
We're going to talk about that throughout the entire broadcast
and perhaps more on the pregame about how many times
the Badgers turned the puck over in their own zone.
It's kind of been a story this season with the Badgers,
and normally when they play against teams that aren't too
offensive minded, the Badgers can get away with doing that.
But when it comes to a team like Saint Clouds Staton,
and we saw it a couple weekends ago against Minnesota

(04:52):
where that can prove to be costly. Minnesota put a
couple goals past David mcnatton a couple of weekends ago
because of some turnovers in the defensive zone and s happened.
Yet last night's game, the only goal from the Huskies
was because of a defensive turnover. It ended Ava McNaughton's shutout.
Bit of course, she has a couple of those already
this season, has a few more than in her mind

(05:12):
than I think she does on the stat sheet. As
when you get pulled in college hockey, which we've seen
Davia mcnotton get pulled a couple times to get Riya
Stewart's some game time, it automatically ends the shutout on
your stat sheets. So even though the Badgers ended with
a couple shutouts because Ria Stewart came in for a
period or a period and a half or whatever it was,
even sometimes less than a period, that shutout does not

(05:35):
count toward Ava McNaughton's stats. Or Riya Stewart or by
the way, hasn't played much, of course, but has yet
to let up a goal in her short career.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
She played two.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Games when the Badgers were leading by quite a few goals,
and then she made her first appearance in relief of
Ava McNaughton in that very tough five to one loss
against Minnesota a couple of weeks ago, and then Riya
Stewart came in in the third and didn't let up
a single goal. So go to see a lot of
her in the Olympics times when Avan mcnatton has to
go to Italy and play.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
For Team USA.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
But anyway, it was Avery Ferrell who scored the goal
for Saint Cloud State. She's on that line with the
two Finns, Riley mouston In and Sofiana sundaland that's the
line to look out for now. We'll get to the
starting lineups in a second, but that's that second line
for Saint Cloud State. But it has sort of been
their top line. I mean, they split minutes with that
first and second line. They don't really use the fourth

(06:26):
line at all. We saw that fourth line maybe twice
or three times in the game last night, so it's
very often that we see that second line out. In fact,
they started the game yesterday on the ice that second
line for Saint Cloud State. The Badgers regained their three
goal lead, then halfway through the third period, as Claire
Enwright became just the first forward to score for the

(06:46):
Badgers in that game. The first three goals came from
blue liners. It was Emma Venusio to start things off,
as I said, and then Caroline Harvey added two goals
after that. So Enwright gets her first goal on the
third line this season, now she played on the first
line because of all the injuries that happened. They brought
her up to the first line coming from the third line,
and she was wha Ford of the Week after that,
the first time in her career she's been named that.

(07:08):
She's had some injury struggles in her career, but it
was great to see her on the score sheet for Wisconsin.
She slots back into the third line now that the
Badgers have a fully healthy team and she gets on
the score sheet. It was a beautiful goal, just got
it right over the left shoulder of Jojo Choback, the
goaltender for Saint Cloud's State. And finally the Badger scored
their fifth and final goal of the game. Is Kirsten

(07:29):
Simms capped off her three point night. Another one. That's
the third Badger with a three point night. Caroline Harvey,
Kirsten Sims, and Leila Edwards. It was another power play
goal for the Badgers, and Sims now has seven goals
in eleven games played. Of course, she missed a couple
of games because of an injury, she came back. She's
now scored in each of the last two games as well.
She now finds herself just one point away from being

(07:51):
the eighth Badger in program history to hit the two
hundred point mark.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Now we talk about the power play.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
I said I was gonna mention it later on two
power play goals for the Badger last night. They've been
red hot on the power plays, improved the power play
to thirty three percent, best in the WCCHA by a
long shot, and third best in the country. Now they're
tied for third with thirty one percent. Last night, they've
moved up to thirty three percent and now have the
sole lead. They've overtaken Northeastern for third best in the country.

(08:18):
So Kirsten Sim's looking to get another goal tonight, another
point to get her to two hundred. That would be
a special moment for her to do that here in
Saint Clouds tonight as the Badgers look for their one
hundred and first win against Saint Clouds Stated. I mentioned
they got the one hundred win last night. The Huskies
have beaten the Badgers nine times, so the Badgers got
to triple digit wins before the Huskies got to double

(08:38):
digit wins, which is incredible.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
You can't. I mean, this is a team too, Saint
Clouds State.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
They're not a bad team at all, and historically they're
not a bad team either.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
They're number ten in the country.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
It's very weird how competitive this WCCHA is. That the
fact that Saint Cloud State is eighth out of eight
in the WCCHA, but they are still the top ten,
are in the top ten in the nation. They are
a phenomenal team, but they're just having such a tough scheduled.
They've had to play four of the top five teams
in the nation. They get a little break next week.
They get a play Bimidgi State, who are second to last,

(09:07):
So that's sort of the battle of who's gonna take
seventh place in the WHA. Everything matters at this point,
so we'll see if they can get back to winning ways.
They haven't won in over a month, Saint Cloud State,
so it's been very rough for them starting lineups today,
so it's exact same for Wisconsin. Of course, if you
weren't here yesterday or you didn't tune into the lineups,
I'm gonna read them out for you now. That first

(09:28):
line is back together, Kirsten Sim's on the left, Lacey
Eden on the right, and then back from injury, Adela
chappovel A Vova will be the center of that line.
She got banged up pretty hard yesterday, and she's not
very tall, she gets banged up quite a bit, but
it was very scary. She had a moment at center
ice where she collided with a husky.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
And landed on her arm. Now that arm or.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
That thumb was hurt a couple weeks ago, hence why
she missed the last few games, but thankfully she was okay.
She stayed on the bench after getting checked out by
our trainer step and she was able to finish the game.
That second line, red hot. Second line is back together again,
Kelly Gorbertenko on the left, Maggie Scannell back on the
second line, this time on right wing, and of course,
the leading goal scorer for the Badgers, Cassie Hall, centers

(10:09):
that line. Third line for the Badgers, Claire en Right
on the left, Finley McCarthy on the right, who had
two assists last night. She was incredible and really good
for checking as well from her Marion Boicard at center.
Yet to score a goal this season. Marion Bocard, she
picked up her seventh assist of the year, has still
yet to find the back of the net. She's gotten
so close. She had a few good chances as well

(10:31):
in last night's game, but was.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Not able to find the back of the net.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
She's got the best faceoff percentage in the WA. She
wins over seventy five percent of her face offs. The
next best faceoff taker is at sixty eight percent. That's
Sonny von Hennen of Ohio State. So Bocard every time
she takes a dry she's pretty much gonna win. I
can't say she wins them nine times out of ten,
but I guess she wins them seven point five times
out of ten if you're really a stickler for stats,

(10:58):
which I guess I am. And then that fourth line,
which didn't get many minutes yesterday, is Mikayla Zillis on
the left, Hannah Halverson on the right, Charlotte peakinhog and
centering that fourth line, and then for the defense pairings,
Caroline Harvey and Vivian Jungles together again on defense, Ava
Murphy and the goal scorer Emma Venusio on that second pairing,
Laney Potter and Leila Edwards on that third pairing, and

(11:22):
then of course starting in goal, Ava McNaughton for the
Wisconsin Badgers. The extra skater for today is Mackenzie Jones
and joining us now Mark Greenhall here in the pregame
and Greeney pretty dominant win for the Badgers last night.
They're hoping to continue that today.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah, once we cleaned up a few things that we
fell victim too in the second period, things got a
lot better and we rolled to what a five to
one victory, and I'll take that.

Speaker 6 (11:47):
Yeah, after a layoff, you know, for a while.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
So we'll see if we can pick up where we
left off yesterday and continue with some good things this evening.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Yeah, and hopefully they can clean up some of the
things in the defensive zone and obviously the one goal
they allowed, and there's not much criticism here, but if
we're going to point out one negative thing, it was
perhaps they weren't able to get out of the zone
and that resulted in a lot of turnovers and then
eventually a goal for Saint Cloud State.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Yeah, we went over video at length today and Coach
pointed out a few things and just some minor adjustments
that they're all capable of doing. And when you see
it visually in front of it comes across a lot
cleaner and you go, Okay, now I know what I'm
supposed to do exactly.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
So it was a bit different from yesterday.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Last night Saint Cloud State started their second line out
on the ice. It was that line with the two fins,
Riley Mouston and Sofiana Sunderland and then the.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Goalscorer Avery Ferrell.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
Today they're starting their top line, so that's Maria Mchelean,
the Russian with five goals this season, the freshman centered
by Laura Zimmerman, and then Alis Sorial on the right.
The Badger switching things up too, they had that sim
Chappie and Eden line the first line starting out last night.
Today the Badger's starting with their second line with Kelly Gorritenko,
Cassie Hall.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
And Maggie Scannal and Greeney.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Yesterday, we saw after that timeout that Mark Johnson took
the Badgers shuffled up their lines quite a bit.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Yeah, yeah, you know, just trying to try some different
combination and see who reacts in what you know the
best in certain situations and given some.

Speaker 6 (13:15):
Different people a chance as well, you.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Know, absolutely, and we'll see if that's the similar story
in today's game.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
So that's going to conclude our pregame show.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
We're going to take a quick break and when we
come back Saint Cloud State versus Wisconsin Game two on

We welcome you inside the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center
here in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. We're a couple of minutes
away from puck drop Aiden Michael's alongside Mark Greenhall, and
we were just talking green about the things that the
Badgers need to fix up. But overall, pretty good performance
from the Badges yesterday, getting a big win and getting
a hundredth victory over Huskies in program history.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Nice mile stone there, but yeah, they reacted okay and
you know, delivering what coach asked him to do, so
can't ask more than.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
That, absolutely, And we got the starting lineups. We then
just got notified of a little bit of a lineup change.
Starting in goal instead of Jojoe back for Saint Cloud State,
it's gonna be Amelia Cherka, another Finn on the ice
for Saint Cloud State.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
So they went for a change after yesterdays game.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
Obviously, Chowback's been struggling this season as their number one goaltender,
but they've had to face off against the you know,
for the top five teams in the country, so a
bit of a tough schedule for her.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
But they've gone with a different goaltender.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Yeah, I think they're just gonna try a little little
different look and see what happens here, you know. So
thus they're going with pre call.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
There you go, three starts in three games for the
sophomore from Nokia, Finland, posting a nine to six five
say percentage, has a shutout to her name as well,
and now she's got a face off against the red
hot number one Wisconsin Badgers, and we have our ceremonial
puck drop, Caroline Harvey doing that for the Badgers and
Sidney Jackal doing it for the Saint Cloud State Huskies.

(17:51):
We're about forty seconds away from puck drop. It's an
exciting one here on this Saturday afternoon in Saint Cloud.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
If someone slipped on the ice there, hopefully they're okay.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Yeah, the people that were out there for the ceremonial
puck drop, a photographer and one other person slipped off
the carpet there on their way back.

Speaker 6 (18:10):
Don't want to see anybody get hurt out here.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Yeah, no kidding.

Speaker 6 (18:13):
Hey, we got more fans out here today this afternoon.

Speaker 4 (18:15):
We do a lot of frost fans in the crowd too.
With the PWHL team, They've got a lot of jerseys
out there. Yeah, yeah, definitely. I mean I want to
say three times as many fans already. And you know,
Puck hasn't even dropped yet, but it's not pack.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
But uh, definitely more more folks today than yesterday.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Tend no band though, Yeah, let's.

Speaker 6 (18:36):
Get out of the Cloud brass band back out here.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Huh.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Seriously, I don't know where they went, but I guess
they've got other duties. Double boy exactly. Can't have them
every time. They were great yesterday. They were definitely loud,
but that's what you want to be if you're in
the band.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Yep. But anyway, here we go.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
So that first line out for Saint Cloud State, that
second line with Gorbatenko scannal and haul out for the Badgers.
McNaughton in goal of Courts and Jungles and Harvey the
two blue liners to start things off for the Wisconsin Badgers.
Badgers got the triple digits against the Huskies yesterday in

(19:14):
terms of wins in program history. They're looking to add
to that total. And here we go. The two number
eleven's duel in the center circles Zimmerman and and Hall
wins the opening draw, and we are underway here at
the Brooks Center in Saint Cloud. Here is Scannal behind
the Husky's net, gets it along to Hall, centering pass

(19:34):
just under the stick of Gorbitenko, kept it at the
right point by Jungles, who shovels that one down in
the corner. Jungles gets hit pretty hard by Mickiellien and
Sorrel can shove it out of the zone. Early chance
for the Huskies, but a good defensive play by Harvey
to stop that attack from happening. Haul sends that one
down around the corner, picked up by Gorbtenko and then

(19:56):
taken away there by Sunderland. Goorbertenko tying up with Wolf
trying to get that puck free and does, and Sunderland
will take it up. Mckellyan intercepted there by Edwards gets
it around now to Eden up ahead the Sims. Simms
tight angle skates behind the net, goes to the corner

(20:18):
round the left circle, drops it off Shapa Valley Bova
to Eden. Eden spins away from Sundland, find Sims behind
the net, who lets it run for Edwards to pick
it up in the corner, drops it back off to
Sims right point. Sims to Edwards right circle, shop yet
the point takes a shot deflected in front, wide of
the goal.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
Eden got a stick on it. Yeah, nice redirect by Eden.
First look on goal for the Badgers in this game.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
They scored around this mark in the first period last night,
thanks to Edmond Venusio.

Speaker 6 (20:48):
Yeah, she just let one fly and didn't win.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
Why not?

Speaker 4 (20:52):
That's been the story, I guess in the last couple
of games. Now she's got two and two tipped all
the way down, Cherka is gonna have to make a
play and does.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Up ahead.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
Now is Avery Farrell the goal scorer for Saint Cloud
State last night? Murphy shovels that one along behind the
Badgernette McCarthy lets it run at the point. Is Bryant
taken away by McCarthy, who can kick it out of
the zone.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
A bit of a miscue there from both players.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Yeah, that was one area I'd like to see an
improvement in We're hoping we can break the puck out of.

Speaker 6 (21:25):
Her own end a little more smoothly.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
McCarthy tried to get it at center ice. It's skipped
by her back down the length of the ice. Behind
the net is McNaughton for the Badgers to leave it
for Ava Murphy. Here comes Murphy, shovels it out of
the zone, finds McCarthy at center ice and then gave
it away to Wolf. Sends it up ahead to Zimmerman.
Zimmerman on the right side gets a Thesorio poked away

(21:49):
by Gorbtenko. Gorbotenko freshly on the ice for the Badger
slides it across. It's a Hall the laid offside, so
Hall has to retreat. Here comes Wolf, now taking it
to center ice and dumping it down cross ice off
the stick of McNaughton jungles across the Harvey. Harvey shovels

(22:10):
it out of the zone, but gives it up to
Soreal and Sunderland can shovel it in behind the net
in the Badger zone.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Yeah, I want to manage that puckin the neutral zone
there to eliminate those transitional turnovers.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
And now at two on one for the Badgers, it's
Hall and Gorbutenko.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
Cassie Hall a shot blocker away by Cherka.

Speaker 6 (22:28):
They shot by Hall.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
And Harvey picks it up in the defensive zone. Harvey
got it up ahead. The Jungles touched along for Hall,
who gave it away pressuring is Scannal. Scannal touches it
along in the corner in the right corner of the
Husky zone. Now it comes free for houstonen up ahead.
Now to Sidney Bryant. Bryant just offside though, is Avery

(22:55):
Farrell a bit too eager on that one? We get
a whistle with sixteen twenty eight Togo in the first period,
no store.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
You know, uh, Saint Cloud's record four and nine is
kind of deceiving, like you were saying earlier. You know,
they've been facing a lot of really good teams and
like right now, it's pretty even Stevens so far, you know,
and we're I don't know, for almost four minutes into
the game. Yeah, they can play, you know, they really can.
They got to bring your a game if you want
to come away successful, exactly.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
I mean it's not often I was saying yesterday that
you see the tenth ranked team in the country.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
Last of the division. Right right, here's Krueger.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
Centering pass taken away by Shapa Vallee Vova. Here's Sims
now left side, cutting inside, Kirsten Simms moving in good
defensive play made, made a Husky fall on that play, though.
Sims one point away from becoming the eighth Badger in
program history to reach two hundred career points. Had three

(23:50):
yesterday goal and two assists received by Eden. Collides with
Moran and the official and it's behind the Husky net
Mcaelien ahead the Soreal out of the possession of her
and into the possession of the Badgers. Venusio touches it
along for Eden, who just chips that one into the
Saint Cloud bench and we get a whistle.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
You know, Aden, They're kind of like a United Nations team,
aren't they. They are representing six different countries I believe
in the roster for the Saint Cloud Huskies. That's quite
a global representation.

Speaker 4 (24:27):
Yeah, there's almost more European kids on this team than
kids from Minnesota at all.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
At all.

Speaker 6 (24:33):
It's unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (24:35):
They've got some heavy European recruiting ties here in Saint
Cloud and it's worked out to be quite a good
thing for them.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (24:45):
Some of their superstars from Europe, of course, got a
few fins, one of them now starting in goal.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Here's a turnover in the Husky zone.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
At the point is Emma Venusio looking to continue her
goal streak, looking to make it three in three, and
right centering past Picard, also looking for her first goal
of the season. Seven assists on the year, picked up
one last night. Captain by McCarthy. Here is Picard now
left circle. Pocard skating to the middle, gets taken away

(25:13):
by Sorrel, who can chip.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
It out and go for a change.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Fourteen forty three to go here, no score, pass up ahead,
a score patake on the right side and she'll touch
up offside, and she's trying to plead her case to
the official, but that's not gonna work.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
He's not buying it today.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Nice pass from Venusia all the way back almost our
goal line, up to the offensive blue line. Nice to
see the she's seeing the ice wall.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
Cassie Hall wins the draw against Peyton Holloway, another Wisconsin native,
the only one on Saint Cloud's team. And here comes
Holloway at center ice now entering the zone for the
Husky staying on side.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Uriola loses it.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
Scandal has a poke Urroola in the corner left point
for Holloway. Halloway snaps a shot blocker away by McNaughton.
Halloway gets it stripped by Jungles and the Badgers can
skate out of the zone as Cassie Hall does it.
Nice move for Gorbutenko here is Scannell save may by Cherka.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
Puck is loose, Hall shot goes.

Speaker 6 (26:18):
Wide, creating some good chances there.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
Good move to set that up from Kelly Gorbtenko and
Scannal just sends that one down for Cherka to cover.
Tried to dump so she can get a change, but
Cherka covered it. So the Badgers get fresh legs on
the ice and a face off in the Husky zone
with thirteen forty eight to go.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Yeah, it's interesting to see Holloway, who's from uh I
think Tomo, Wisconsin playing for the Huskies.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
Junior center.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Lacy Eden right off the draw and the Husky zone
tries to pick it up but can't keep possession.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Here come the Huskies the other way.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
It's feral Farrel gets pestered there by, Potter finds Sunderland
behind the net at the point, now taking a shot
as wolf walker away by McNaughton. Here's peon tight angle
centering pass looking for Sunderland, gets it to Farrel. Ferrell
snaps a shot blocked by Shappy in front. Badgers have
possession now in their own zone. Still, it's Sims who

(27:21):
gets it to Edwards who then finds Potter in space
on the left side of their zone. Tipped on by
Eden was not ahead of the red line, so it
will be an icing with thirteen ten to go, no
score here, Badgers four shots on goal of the Huskies
just a couple of couple of soft ones for McNaughton.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Hasn't really tested her too much yet.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Yeah, we're a lot of transitioning of the puck and night.
Thus there's only been four shots by us and two
by Saint Claude. Saw trading possession of the puck quite
a bit today.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Moran right off the drop of the Huskies snap shot
up and off the skate of Sims and out of play.
The shot from the point there from Sydney Lamb. That
was the only change aside from the goaltender in the
Saint Cloud State lineup. She just moves from that third
defensive pairing up to the second as we'll get a
face off to the left of Aba McNaughton. Picard wins

(28:20):
the draw, gets it to Venusio in the Badger zone.
Murphy tries to get it away, gets it up to
Enwright does a good job to get that out of
the zone.

Speaker 6 (28:27):
Yeah, shipped it up and out off the boards.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
And that's that was the story yesterday, and so far
they're doing a better job early on exactly, and you're right,
see if they can continue that.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
Moran gave that puck away to Murphy and now behind
the goal is Venusio out of the zone. Comes McCarthy
up ahead. I was looking for Picard at an icing
and what could have been a decent opportunity for the
Badger's results in an icing against them.

Speaker 6 (28:49):
Just slightly overpassed.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
And what a good idea is She saw Picard there
going down the center there towards the slot.

Speaker 4 (28:59):
So that face off will come all the way back
in the Badger zone to the right of mcnonton. Zimmerman
and Picard on the draw this time, Zimmerman wins it
for Saint Cloud State.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Peon gets it the Zimmerman a score or a Zimmerman.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
The Swiss superstar scores her fourth goal of the season
and Saint Cloud State have taken the lead against the Badgers.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
A tight angle shot, yes by mcdonal.

Speaker 6 (29:32):
That's one that Ava would like to have back. I'm
sure the shot.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Was taken almost just above the extended goal line, and
she tried to take the short side away and it
squeaked in just between her right arm and the post
for the first goal of the game.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
And you know, I'm not a goaltender, you know, I'm
not an expert like you are, Greeny and goaltending. But
what I mean, does Ava think that she's got it
closed off there or well.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
You see a new technique now they kind of It's
called the RVH, you know, and you get up against
a post real tight, whereas usually or in historically, goalies
used to try and square up more. I would like
to hear maybe square up more versus having your side.
They're hoping you pinch it off for that very reason

(30:16):
we just saw. It still has the possibility of squeaking.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
In exactly centering past.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
Now Badger's looking for a quick answer, centering past the
Scandal out in front ride of the goal, and it's
picked up in the corner by Gyuriola who can't clear.
Hall finds Gorba Tenko nice move, but then loses possession
and then slips on our own accord, so it turns
the puck over. Now it's a three on two for
the Huskies. Here is Fenya poked down low still with

(30:42):
it centering pass again, taken away by Harvey and then
picked up behind the Badger goal by Hall, who chips
it out to Scandal at center ice and goes for
a change.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Eleven and a half to go. Here in the first
Huskies lead one nothing.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
Sorrel on the left side throws one toward goal and
an easy glove for Ava mc not. But it's the
first time the Badgers have been down in the first
period in quite some time.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Yeah, it's it's somewhat unfamiliar territory for some of these girls.
But you know, we'll see how we react here and
get one back.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Top line out for both teams.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
Here, Sunderland wins the draw at the point is Peon
rips the shot walked in front by Eden trickles to
the corner for Ferrell to collect. Now Sundland left corner,
spinning away from Edwards. Sunderland's still with it, goes to
the point to Peon. Peon holds up Eden pressuring there,
Peon skating to the corner and then behind the goal.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
Now out in.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Front, the centering pass goes away from Musinen and sales
out of the zone for Sundland to collect in her
own zone. Sundland drops it off to Peon. Some pressure
here from this first line for the Badgers up ahead,
tipped down by Labbey, so Potter picks it up behind
the Badger goal for Wisconsin. Here comes Potter at center ice,

(32:03):
skating it in herself off a skate there of Labbe
and out of the zone. So Sims has to just
dump it down Chirka behind the net shovels it to Lamb.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
Lamb up ahead to Jackal. Now here's Labbe entering the zone.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
Never got clean possession, so it's picked up by Peak
and Hogen nearly turned it over there in a dangerous area.
Who was able to get it up to Murphy? Yeah,
dump and chase Dow in the corner. Murphy the centering
pass looking for someone out in front peekon Hog and
got tripped up.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Puck is still loose by Alverson.

Speaker 6 (32:37):
The puck just sat there right in decreased for a second.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
A dangerous area and he's got a nice balance there.

Speaker 6 (32:44):
Hoping we could capitalize on that one, but not to be.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
Weren't able to do it. Badgers still have the zone though.
Fourth line out for the Badgers. Halverson peak and Hog
and touching that one along. Zillish gets that free for
peking Hogen being pressed up against the boards there by Krueger.
Zillis sends that one around and finds Murphy on the
left side. Murphy behind the goal, gets tied up with
Bryant centering past, but nobody there Lobby didn't know where

(33:10):
the puck was, so it fell for Venusio.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
Shot in front.

Speaker 4 (33:13):
Puck is loose in the crease, still there, tapped along,
Still no whistle, and now we get a whistle as
the Badgers were whacking on it.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
I was hoping we'd have a repeat with Venusio taking
that shot from the point like yesterday, but the save
was made, although there was a rebound Landaire for a
little bit and a scrum ensued and they finally froze
the puck.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Nine to twenty six to go.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
Here in the first period, we get our first media timeout,
so we'll be right back in thirty.

Speaker 15 (33:42):

Speaker 4 (34:16):
And we're back inside the Brooks Center, Aiden Michaels, Mark Greenhall,
one nothing, Saint Cloud State.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
We're a bit surprised here, Greeney.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Yeah, I mean shots are about even five by Wisconsin,
four by the Huskies, and they have the lead one
to nothing and hopefully we can make some heup pretty soon.
But yeah, tight contests so far. Yeah, we're halfway through
the period exactly.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
I'm looking at the board here and I was wondering
why there were so many Minnesota Frost fans in the crowd.
They're doing an autograph session with Walter cup Champ. Clara
Himlarova one of the best players in the history of
Saint Cloud State women's hockey, so she is in attendance.
Here's McCarthy right off the draw, missus it wide picked
up put card. Now, we saw that a few times yesterday,

(35:02):
where McCarthy's just in the slot right after a draw
and just.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Fires it on goal. Yep. Quick release had a couple
of good looks last night. Gets a good one as well.

Speaker 4 (35:10):
This time here's Sorrel now breaking through and then taking
that inside. I thought you maybe should have shot that puck,
but yeah, held onto it for a bit too long.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Yeah, Jungles finally stripped her of the puck.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (35:22):
Sorrel has it now in the badger zone taking a
shot off the stick jungle. Yeah, and of course Vivian
Jungles making her presence known with another block shot.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
She does so many things well that don't show up
on the scoreboard, necessarily really valuable defenseman there.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
Wolf gets it to pee on its center ice, sending
that one down behind the net, stopped up by McNaughton,
picked up by Harvey, can't be cleared. Wolf shovels out
one along. Folk tries to pick it up. Gorbertenko gets
it up the Hall, who can skate it out of
the zone. Here's Cassie Hall with speed on the left side,
driving to the net. Tried to find Gorbatenko out in front,

(36:01):
couldn't find her. Good idea, Folks gets that one up.
Here's a Remicka shot wide of the goal. It takes
a bounce off the end boards and picked up by
Cassie Hall in.

Speaker 3 (36:11):
Her own corner. Tried to get that one out. It's
a big.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
Turnover down low back enter the net, say by McNatt
and the rebound is blocked by Potter.

Speaker 6 (36:20):
Big save by Ava.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
They're in tight and another D zone turnover for the Badgers,
resulting in a great chance for Saint Cloud State.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
But mcnonton there to make the stop.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
Scandal behind the net gets taken down, tries to make
the play to get it to Gorbatenko.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
Kick quite do it.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
Edwards is there and support takes a tight angle shot
and it's gloved up by Cherka.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
Well so far their finished goaltender is answering the bell.
I think you know they weren't foolish and switching it up.
Maybe I'm not knocking show back at all, but you
gotta finish goalie, and you gotta finish goaltending coach, so
I'm not surprised necessarily that they're giving her try that helps.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
Yeah, Shaty taking the drug Against Sundland. Two Europeans dueling
in the circle and it's won by Sunderland. Pion gets
it to Captain Wolf was looking for Sunderland just missed
her and we'll.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Get a nicing here.

Speaker 4 (37:16):
With seven and a half to go in the first period,
Huskies lead the Badgers by a score of one nothing,
being out shot six to five. So it's been a
tighter game to start things off todays. Of course, they
were the ones that had the first goal of the
game last night.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
We're not able to do so in today's game.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
Face off now to the right of Cherka, Sunderland and
Chappa Vallee Vova duel again. It's won by Sunderland for
a second time in a row.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
Shape.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
Trying to get possession back for the Badgers, and she
does shovels it along to Eden, but then it's taken
away by Muston in Sundland trying to clear the zone
and does up had now his fair but Venusio makes
a nice play, picks it up in the corner, giving
away moos it in tight angle, just fans on it.
It comes free as shot off of Eden.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
And over the goal.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
Ferreal to Peon at the left point, skates around Eden.
Peon takes a shot off the side of the goal,
picked up behind the net. Now is Krueger. Kruger skating
to the corner. Gave that one away to Eden and
the Badgers can break eating at center. Ice gets sandwich
there between Labbey and Krueger and it goes behind the
Husky net for Cherka to collect. Here comes Krueger at

(38:36):
a labbae on the left side. Labbe skating to the circle,
going to the corner. Now Jungles pushing her off the
buck and gets it to Harvey. Harvey up ahead to McCarthy.
McCarthy at the neutral zone, skating in the zone. I
pass the piccarda shot save made by Cherka, but a
good play there.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Yeah, a little Jay hook pass from h McCarthy to
Picard there right.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
Near the slide. Oh, that was real nice.

Speaker 4 (39:01):
And McCarthy with two assists last night, had an impressive game.
Has been doing pretty well so far. Here in the
first period six twenty one to go, Husky's lead won nothing,
Pacard and Zimmerman will take the draw, Zimmerman scoring the
lone goal of the game so far, and Zimmerman wins
the drap of McCarthy's gonna try and get it right

(39:23):
off the bat. Picard trying to take it away from Zimmerman,
who's got it behind the Husky goal. Sorial to Zimmerman
trying to get it clear and does. Mcaylean makes a
nice move around. Jungles will then fall to the ice
and McNaughton will cover and mchayleyan who's got five goals

(39:45):
this season two assists. The freshman from Moscow, Russia makes
a nice move inside with them just lost control of
the puck there and a face off to come to
the right of Ava McNaughton, Zimmerman and Picard again in
the faceoff, dot.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
Card wins it cleanly.

Speaker 6 (40:05):
We've got a contest in our hands here, Aidenno.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
We we really do.

Speaker 4 (40:09):
Here's Picard badger searching for an equalizing goal, shot toward
goal wide of the net, picked up by Edwards right circle,
deflect it off of Bocard as she goes for a change.
And it's picked up by Zimmerman behind the goal. Sorial
at center ice lost it peekin Hoggin as that fourth

(40:30):
line comes back out for Wisconsin. That one's toward goal
and another one shoveled to mcdonnin and she'll cover once
more and a face off to come with five and
a half to go, and that fourth line, short lived, will.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
Out head to the bench.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
We'll see if we can generate something here with scandal
and haul out.

Speaker 4 (40:51):
There got that red hot second line back out for Wisconsin.
Cassie Hall, the leading goal scorer for the Badgers this season,
eleven so far.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
For assists, She's got fifteen points this season.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
Sunderland gets it to the point to Peon who rips
the shot deflect hit in front. Puck is loose and
then Goorbatenko can pick it up with the blue line.
She chops it and out of play. We'll get a
face off, and since Gorbatenko never got out of the zone,
that face off will stay in the Badger zone to
the left of Ava McNaughton.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
Yeah, if you don't clear it, you know, it gives
them another opportunity, and you know, the longer they keep
it in the zone, there the great of the chance
or something happening.

Speaker 4 (41:36):
Seven shots apiece here yep, different story from last night,
as the Badgers were dominating in shots at least late
in the first period. Face off is won by the Huskies.
Here's peon inside getting poked away by Murphy. Zone is
kept by Sunderland, who dumps that one into the corner
for feral. Farrell finds Mooston in gets it right back

(41:57):
to Farrell in the left corner down low. Farrell up
to the point kept in for a moment by Wolf
on the skate, but couldn't keep it in fully and
it's dumb back down. Murphy's tired when she gets to
the puck first, being pressured there by Sunderland. Murphy shovels
it along to Venusio and Scanneal can skate it out
of the zone, chasing his gore. Buttenko fresh line out

(42:21):
for the Badgers Orbotenko coming off, and that fourth line
back out for Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (42:30):
Here comes Zillish.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
Now a three on one for the Fagers looks like
a five on one.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
Mikayla Zillish lays it off Halverson downloading that nice Charlotte
peeking again.

Speaker 4 (42:42):
The fourth line gets it done and the.

Speaker 3 (42:45):
Badgers have tied it in the first period.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
Man, what a great play. Just some great passing, uh
you know, Zillas. Nice to see her fourth liner gets
some action, brings it down the right wing, slides it
into the slot.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
Somebody pushed it over to.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
Pekenhagen and bang right on the back door, she bangs
it in for our first goal of the game.

Speaker 6 (43:06):
Beautiful play, good passing, and.

Speaker 4 (43:08):
I don't think we've seen it this season where the
fourth line comes off, then the third line or the
second line comes on, then the fourth line comes on
right after that. Yeah, they get the goal, first point
of the season for mackay La Zillish getting the secondary
assist on that. And Charlotte Peakinhagen gets her first goal
since her college debut was against Bmidgie State.

Speaker 2 (43:27):
So neat to see. And I think that's the first
of many in her career, don't you.

Speaker 3 (43:31):
Oh for sure.

Speaker 6 (43:32):
Very promising freshman to put it lightly.

Speaker 4 (43:35):
And that line will stay out for Wisconsin. What a
shift for them.

Speaker 2 (43:39):
Yeah, they certainly earned some ice time here. Holy cow,
they're producing.

Speaker 4 (43:43):
Nice defensive play by Zillish, Yeah, trying to poke it
out for pekan hogin Badgers can't clear yet, and now
they do.

Speaker 3 (43:50):
There Goes Harvey.

Speaker 4 (43:52):
Harvey had two goals yesterday. We know she can fly. Harvey,
nice move inside backhand or save made by Churka. Sim
tried to get it to Edwards, couldn't find it. Sims
picks it up in the badger zone. Harvey to Edwards.
Edwards down low for Eden's centering past a good aflection

(44:12):
say by Cherka, and some pushing and shoving after the whistle.

Speaker 3 (44:17):
Three point thirty five to go here one one score man.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
They that line really gave us a lift, didn't they. Yeah,
much needed one. Even the score at one apiece here,
just a gorgeous play. Now we're back in the game
here with about three thirty five to go in a period, and.

Speaker 4 (44:32):
We'll see if either team can grab the lead before
the end of this first period. Shoppie takes a shot,
gets blocked, takes another one, gets blocked again, this time
by Sidney Lamb, who picks it up in the corner
and gets it to Uriola behind the net for the
Huskies try to chip it out, can't quite do it.
Edwards kept it in nicely, but then it was taken
away by Uriola. Mooston in up ahead to Sunderland. Sunderland

(44:54):
drops it back for Farrel. Faral rips the shot save
by Mick naughton and the high He's looking for a
quick response here after that peaking Hoggin goal.

Speaker 2 (45:04):
Yeah, tell you, you know, And when you see that
fourth line do that, I think you see a little
more spring in the step of the other players, you know. Yeah,
kind of contagious, you see. Okay, they can do it.
What am I waiting for? Here we go?

Speaker 3 (45:16):
You know?

Speaker 2 (45:18):
So, kind of an incentivizing effort there.

Speaker 4 (45:23):
Picard loses that draw to labbe picked up by Peakinhagen,
who has been promoted to that third line with Picard
and right, Oh boy, pass out in front point blank
from Kruger and it stopped by McNaughton.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
Oh. They couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to
score there. She was in the low slot, gets a
pass from behind the net, rips one and Ava makes
the stop. So that was probably her best day of
the game so far.

Speaker 4 (45:52):
Oh yeah, Krueger was all alone, Yeah, still looking for
her first point as a Husky shirt freshman. Harvey behind
the net for the Badgers stretch pass looking for peaking
hog and took a deflection off her skates, so no
icing behind the net pestering is peaking hog going It

(46:13):
comes free for Labbey now makes the move around. Harvey
enters the zone on that right side. It falls now
for Picard skating dangerously in front of the net of
Avey McNaughton. But it works out. Yeah, but Card gets
it right back, dumps it down and she'll go for
a change on comes the Hall line out there with

(46:35):
Eden now instead of Maggie's scannal. So you got haul
Gorbtenko and Eden. Edward sends that one down. Eden's not
going to get there before Yuriola and we get an
icing Yeah, two fourteen to go here in the first.
One to one is the score.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
You know, when I saw Picard stick candle right in
front of McNaught there, I always recall saying to my teammates, hey,
don't work on your Stickhanling drills right back here in
front of the crease.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
Okay, when you're the.

Speaker 6 (47:00):
Last person back, it's kind of a dangerous endeavor.

Speaker 4 (47:03):
Gives you a bit of a heart attack there and
you're in goal, doesn't it exactly? Zimmerman and Hall on
the draw, puck gets tangled up in the skates of
the referee. Puck comes free for Zimmerman. Tight angle shot
goes white. She scored from that exact area on that
left side earlier on to no avail.

Speaker 3 (47:19):
This time m kellyan from the point front. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
Yeah, about four players in front of the net stopping
McNaughton from seeing that puck. Gorbutenko has it and skates
it out of her own zone, sends that one all
the way down. Churk has to make a play, fans
on it, but it's able to still get it to
Sydney Lamb. Badgers keep the zone though it's Eden. Eden
behind the net, centering pass under the stick of Gorbutenko

(47:44):
and the Huskies can.

Speaker 3 (47:45):
Skate it out. Mckellyan on the.

Speaker 4 (47:48):
Left side takes a shot into the glove of McNaughton,
and she saw Laura Zimmerman score from there and said,
why not give it a go as well.

Speaker 6 (47:54):
Yeah, I'm glad that Eva got a glove on that.

Speaker 3 (47:58):
Yeah. Two seconds remain in the first period.

Speaker 4 (48:02):
Badger's won, Husky's won, Chapa valle Vova taking the draw
against Sofiana Sunderland. Sunderland wins her third straight draw against
Shappy Farrell keeps it in the zone, pushes it to
the corner of Venusio, tries to make a play and
does McCarthy. Chasing the puck there fans on it Muston

(48:24):
and keeps it in, gives it away to Murphy and
the Badgers can skate it to center ice and Murphy
gets that one down peon to Farrell in the Husky zone.
They get it clear, picked up by Mouston in moosten
in to lay it offside. Sunderland has to touch up
and out goes Muston in so a lot of time
for the Badger's final minute of play. Here in the

(48:46):
first period, Murphy up the middle tried to get it
to Simms, couldn't find her. Now back behind the net
is McCarthy. McCarthy in the corner being pressed up against
the boards. There By Bryant comes free for Zimmerman double team.

Speaker 3 (49:01):
They took it away from her.

Speaker 4 (49:02):
And Uriola can get it out of the zone. Can't
keep possession though for the Husky. Shappy brings it in,
shovels it across to McCarthy, McCarthy to Venusio, but it
was taken away by Michalean Harvey uphead to Venusio now
Sims on the right side entering the zone, gets pushed
down by Zimmerman and the Huskies can clear the zone.

(49:23):
Final twenty seconds of the period, Sorreal at the left
circle stops up new Husky's coming out. Sorrel creates a
lane to the back end. Save made. Rebound is loose
and taken away by and Wright, who tries to shovel
it out of the zone but can't quite do it.
And right a second time, this time can get it
out of the zone. Now here comes Harvey in a
one on one. Now Scandal joins Scandal back to Harvey

(49:46):
the buzzer beater, but it was stopped by Churka. And
what a way to end.

Speaker 2 (49:50):
This period save right at the buzzer on a two
on one there, Holy cow, what a what a contest
we got on our hands?

Speaker 3 (49:57):
Shure, Oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (49:58):
It was the Huskies that out the things, scoring the
first goal of the game, a tight angle shot from
Laura Zimmerman, and then the Badgers answered back with the
tying goal. It is eleven shots to ten shots. The
Huskies have more than the Badgers. We're going to take
a quick break when we come back. The intermission report
here on ten to seventy of the game.

Speaker 3 (50:19):
Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 8 (50:24):
Reach four s guy at Fields. You're never just a customer,

Speaker 16 (50:43):
If you've been injured, it costs you nothing to see

Speaker 4 (50:56):
Welcome back on ten to seventy the game, Aiden Michaels. Here,
this is the intermission report, brought to you by Fields Madison,
your premier luxury auto group, serving customers since nineteen seventy one. Now,
an interesting start to this game, something we're not used
to seeing. The Huskies took the lead against the Badgers
in that first period a tight angle shot from Laura Zimmerman,

(51:19):
the redshirt junior from Switzerland, getting her third goal of
the season. And it was a weird one for me,
and I'm not a goaltender, and obviously Greeny had some
expert analysis, being a former goaltender himself and of course
the goaltending coach for the Badgers, but it was a
weird one.

Speaker 3 (51:36):
It was from just the.

Speaker 4 (51:37):
Edge of that left circle there to the right of
Ava McNaughton, and it just squeezed byers. Seemed like she
had it covered, but it just found a laying in,
took a deflection off of her and then into the
back of the net. A weird one for the Badgers
to concede, but either way, the Huskies took a lead,
and then we saw some fourth line minutes for the Badgers.

(51:57):
We don't see that very often. They've played about three
shifts in yesterday's game alone. They played two shifts in
today's game already in the first period, and it was
that fourth line that got had done. It was Mikayla
Zillish that started at all. She doesn't get many minutes.
She doesn't have a point this season until today. She
got the secondary assist, sent it across and then download
to finish it off with Charlotte Pekinhagen.

Speaker 3 (52:19):
Who scored the first goal of her.

Speaker 4 (52:20):
Career in a first game against BMIGI State, has not
scored since she had a goal disallowed in the icebreaker tournament.

Speaker 3 (52:28):
It was to me and Paul L. Lucas, the strength.

Speaker 4 (52:31):
Coach who was on the call with me for that game,
we could have sworn we saw the puck going to
the net and on.

Speaker 3 (52:36):
The replay too, but the referees, who of course.

Speaker 4 (52:38):
Have better angles than us, decided that that puck did
not fully cross the goal line. So Charlotte Pekinhagen was
mad she didn't get her goal, she didn't get her
second goal, but today she does. So after one period,
it is the Badgers won, the Huskies won. And I
had a chance to talk to Bella Vasser after Tuesday's
practice in Madison, so we're going to take a listen

(52:59):
to that. Yeah, this is the player profile segment brought
to you by Goodman's Jewelers.

Speaker 3 (53:04):
Take a listen.

Speaker 4 (53:05):
Aiden Michael's on ten seventy the game with Bela Vassar.

Speaker 3 (53:07):
Bella, how are you?

Speaker 9 (53:08):
I'm good, how are you fantastic?

Speaker 4 (53:10):
I thank you for joining me. So you've been on
the team for a few seasons now, but you've been
playing a lot of games as of late. How has
it been for you getting back in the swing of
things and playing consistent games?

Speaker 17 (53:18):
Yeah, I mean it's definitely a lot different this year
than last.

Speaker 9 (53:22):
I think.

Speaker 17 (53:24):
It's really exciting for me to be able to be
on the bench more consistently and be able to chair
on my teammates from inside the glass, as we say,
and be a part of the energy and excitement.

Speaker 9 (53:35):
So it's been awesome.

Speaker 4 (53:37):
You played in some pretty big games in your career
at Ohio State and then, of course most recently versus
Minnesota at home, two big rivals. Is there a difference
when you play a rival game against a team like
Ohio State away versus like a team like Minnesota here at.

Speaker 17 (53:51):
Lavon, Obviously it's I would I wouldn't say easier, but
there's a lot of outside factors that help.

Speaker 9 (53:59):
When we play at home.

Speaker 17 (54:00):
I mean, the fans are incredible here at Bonn, but
it's always awesome to go either up to Minnesota or
to Ohio and beat them in their own barn because
it just kind of puts a smile on everyone's space
in our locker room, and it kind of is like, yeah,
we can beat you, we can beat you anywhere, we

(54:21):
can beat you anytime, and it's just I think beating
them anytime anywhere.

Speaker 9 (54:27):
Is just awesome.

Speaker 4 (54:28):
And how was it last week? Obviously losing the first game,
but then coming back in the second game and absolutely
crushing them, scoring seven on the third best team in
the nation and keeping your spot as the best team.

Speaker 3 (54:38):
In the country.

Speaker 4 (54:39):
How big was that for you guys?

Speaker 9 (54:40):
Oh, it was huge.

Speaker 17 (54:41):
I mean in every aspect of life, you're gonna hit setbacks,
but we didn't let that first game like get us
down or stop us from coming back even stronger.

Speaker 9 (54:52):
I mean, that's our goal for every weekend. Even if
we win the.

Speaker 17 (54:55):
First game, we win both games, but we always want
the next game to be better than the previous.

Speaker 9 (55:00):
So we really really.

Speaker 17 (55:02):
Did a good job with that, and it helps us
just set the bar even higher for this upcoming weekend.

Speaker 4 (55:09):
And I talked about some of your role models, one
of them being your mother. What is the role she's
played to you, not only as a mom, but just
as your number one supporter growing up playing hockey.

Speaker 17 (55:19):
Yeah, so my mom has always been there for me.
I mean she is a well she doesn't like to talk
about it, but she was a Division one soccer player
as well, so I mean.

Speaker 9 (55:30):
I see how hard she's worked.

Speaker 17 (55:32):
She was a high school All American, but she's worked
so hard, not even like on the field playing soccer,
but as a parent.

Speaker 9 (55:39):
As a person.

Speaker 17 (55:40):
She's a teacher, so she's always trying to make others
lives better and kind of just one a mode of
my life after her. I mean, I want to try
and make my teammates better. I want to try and
make myself better, and I think her support is I mean, obviously,
you know I put in the work, but I would.

Speaker 9 (55:59):
Not be here without my mom.

Speaker 4 (56:00):
And has she been able to come to some of
the games recently?

Speaker 9 (56:03):
Yeah, so it was just me and her.

Speaker 17 (56:06):
She actually just recently got married this past summer, so
I but before it was just me and her and
she moved out here because to the Madison area because
I was away at boarding school. So this is the
closest in proximity we've been for six years, the six
years previous of me coming to college.

Speaker 9 (56:25):
So she's been able to come to a bunch of games.
I've been able to go and see her and the dogs.

Speaker 17 (56:30):
So it's been awesome to be near her and know
that I have her sport no matter what.

Speaker 4 (56:36):
And what does that do for your game? Obviously you
used to playing in prep school when you guys are
living pretty far from each other. Now playing at Wisconsin
at a higher level, but with her being in a tent,
does that help your game at all? Knowing that she's
out there watching.

Speaker 17 (56:48):
Yeah, I think it kind of is like, you know,
the first game I dressed for, it was like kind
of the you see her in the stand like I
saw her in the stands.

Speaker 9 (56:57):
I was like, yeah, I'm mom, I made it. I mean,
you kind of dream like this.

Speaker 17 (57:02):
Was my dream for years and years, you know, in
high school and everything, and like her being here the
first game I dressed. I mean, obviously I had some setback,
some injuries, but being able to share that first.

Speaker 9 (57:14):
Game with her.

Speaker 17 (57:16):
And my family and the people that care about me,
along with my teammates, was just an incredible feeling.

Speaker 4 (57:23):
And why did you pick Wisconsin? I know it's been
a few years, but what made you land on the
University of Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (57:29):
So I'm originally from Vermont and Madison. I did not
want to go to a big city.

Speaker 17 (57:36):
I mean it kind of would have been a shock
for me to go from a small town no paved
broaths really.

Speaker 9 (57:44):
To a big city.

Speaker 17 (57:45):
So I think Madison was a very a happy medium.
You get your city vibe, but then it's also it's
not crazy, you know, like here in Sirens at all
hours of the day. There's really an awesome community here
in Madison, not only on the campus, but like in
the greater Madison area.

Speaker 9 (58:05):
I also like the schooling just cut my eye.

Speaker 17 (58:07):
I mean, I love my degree, I love what I'm pursuing,
and I couldn't have asked for a better place to
pursue it.

Speaker 4 (58:15):
So what are your plans post graduation, post playing career?

Speaker 17 (58:19):
Yeah, so right now, I'm studying applied mathematics, engineering and physics.
My engineering focus is aerospace engineering.

Speaker 9 (58:28):
I'm here at UW Madison. It's called engineering mechanics. So
I'm hoping to.

Speaker 17 (58:36):
Not work at a desk and actually be do something
hands on because I don't think I could go from
being an athlete to sitting at a desk my whole life,
but always been.

Speaker 9 (58:46):
I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 17 (58:48):
My dream job as a kinder I owner was to
be an astronaut, So I mean to me, like, I
don't plan on going space, but right now I'm kind
of living out that dream.

Speaker 9 (58:57):
So I'm super lucky to be able to do that
here in Madison.

Speaker 4 (59:01):
That is amazing. So now, of course, with the Rivalry
series this past week, you guys had a bye week
as far as games go, What does that do heading
into a pretty big series this weekend at Saint Clouk.

Speaker 17 (59:10):
Yeah, I mean we get to last week, we got
to focus more on the little things. I mean, your
turnaround from game weekend to game weekend.

Speaker 9 (59:20):
Without a bye week is pretty short. I mean you're.

Speaker 17 (59:22):
Going into going right into focusing on the next team, systems,
how you need to play the next team. But with
that bye week, we're able to focus in on a
little bit more skills, work, fine tune, the little things
which you don't get a lot of time to do
until around our holiday breaks.

Speaker 9 (59:39):
So it was super nice to be able to. I mean,
we get a little downtime on the.

Speaker 17 (59:44):
Weekends, but it was more nice to get back to
basics with the team and really focus on the little
things so we can build off that this week.

Speaker 4 (59:54):
All right, you.

And welcome back inside the Brooks Center here in Saint Cloud, Minnesota,
as we are set to begin period number two on
ten seventy the game I made Michaels.

Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
Joining me in.

Speaker 4 (01:04:14):
About thirty seconds is Mark Greenhall and the Badgers and
the Huskies are tied at one after the first period.
The Badger's getting out shot fourteen to eleven. It's the
first time they've been out shot in a game in
the first period this season, which is pretty interesting to see.
Saint Cloud State, who are last place in the WCCHA,
are trying to hang on to that top ten ranking.

(01:04:37):
If they split the series, they most certainly will is
The other top ten team right below them is Yale,
and they lost to unranked Harvard yesterday, so great news
for the Huskies. And now joining me is greeny after
the break and not what we perhaps expected to see
heading into the second period with the Badgers not leading,
but they were able to get that equalizing goal.

Speaker 3 (01:04:59):
In the first ye It was a big goal.

Speaker 6 (01:05:01):
Uh you know, we just.

Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
We were passing the puck when we should be taking
a shot on net. I think a couple times I
admire the unselfishness. But hey, those are short lived opportunities.
Capitalize on him when you can let her rip. And
we got all shot fourteen to one or fourteen to
eleven in that period as well.

Speaker 6 (01:05:19):
So that's something we got to work on.

Speaker 4 (01:05:22):
We'll see what the Badgers can do the league. It
is up for Grabs to begin the second period. Cassie
Hall beats out Laura Zimmerman on the opening draw, and
away we go in Saint Cloud. Here is Zimmerman haul
putting a stick in front. Zimmerman has it near the point,
tried to find peon there, Harvey got their first.

Speaker 3 (01:05:44):
Sial touches it around.

Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
Harvey gets it to Mikaelian at the point, kept in
down low in the corner is Sial sends it to
the opposite corner for Grace Wolf being checked there by
Gorbteco comes out free for Zimmerman and it's turned away
by McNaughton. One timer for Michaelia unblocked in front off
the stick of Zimmerman and out of play.

Speaker 3 (01:06:03):
But two early chances for the Huskies.

Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
Yeah, they're uh bringing it to us here. We gotta
gotta realize, Hey, there's a period underway.

Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
Let's go a bit flat footed to start things off. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:06:16):
Here in the second period, face off to the left
of McNaughton, Chapovalov and Sophiana Sunderland on the draw. Sunderland's
won the last three draws against Shappy. We'll see what
she can do here this time Shappie wins it and
now taking it out of the Badger zone and into
the Husky zone is Eden. Eden stops up, goes back

(01:06:38):
behind the goal for Sims left circle, Sims left point
to Potter one, touches that one down behind the goal
for shapoval Eden to Edwards one time or wide of
the goal, goes to the opposite point. Couldn't be kept
in by Potter and she'll have to retreat with Leila Edwards.
Edwards sends one all the way down for Sims. Icing

(01:07:02):
called against the Badger's a bit too hard there from
Leila Edwards and we'll get a face off in the
badger's own.

Speaker 3 (01:07:09):
Eighteen fifty two to go one a piece is the score.

Speaker 6 (01:07:14):
Yeah, a couple things, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
We want to just get pucks in deep, you know,
and a little better position with our f three, stay
a little higher so nobody gets past you and we
got to be aggressive on face offs.

Speaker 3 (01:07:26):
Right off the draw, taking that one.

Speaker 6 (01:07:28):
Right there, exactly what I'm talking about.

Speaker 3 (01:07:31):
Badger's again conceding a shot right after the draw. Yeah,
but here they come the other way.

Speaker 4 (01:07:36):
Eden picks it up right circle, tight angle shot saved
by Cherka. Now Sims has the rebound centering past Eden
swinging a miss fanned in the slot and it trickles
out of the zone. Good opportunity there from the Badgers execution. Yep,
not quite on Moran finds the stick of Holloway. We'll

(01:07:58):
touch that one along and go for a change. Picked
up behind the Badger goal by Venusia. Badger's turn it
over again in their own zone. It's wrung around the goal.

Speaker 3 (01:08:08):
McCarthy trying to get it, get it, but Krueger gets
there before she does.

Speaker 4 (01:08:12):
And now the puck is frozen along the n boards between.

Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
The point and the circle.

Speaker 4 (01:08:19):
And we get a whistle as nobody could get that
pucked free and a face off to come to the
right of Avian mcnatton seventeen fifty eight to go one
one Here in the second period, Kruger and Picard on
the draw. It's the first time these two players have
dueled in the face off circle and Kruger wins it.

(01:08:42):
Shot right off the draw wide of the goal. It
trickles all the way out of the zone and picked
up by En right on the left side, throws that
one down into the corner the Husky zone. Krueger tries
to shovel it out, can't do it now, but then
does and getting into Peon in the process, and Right
picks it back up for the Badgers left side in
the husky zone, centering pass off the skate of Wolf

(01:09:04):
and Cherka goes flying and the net comes dislodged.

Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
Here net got knocked completely off its moorings there, so
we're gonna have a stappage and play.

Speaker 4 (01:09:15):
And Cherko is feeling that one too, is shaking her yeah,
block her hand seems to be okay. We'll get a
face off now outside the zone, and Zimmerman's checking on
Cherka make sure she's okay, and she is. Cassie Hall
and Laura Zimmerman to take the draw. Cassie Hall wins it,

(01:09:35):
gets it out to Murphy at center ice, who sends
it across the Venusio dumps that one down behind the
net past Cherka Gorbtenko in the corner, finds Peakin Hogen.
Two big bodies out for Wisconsin, peaking Hagen and Gorbtenko. Gorbotenko,
bodying off Lamb there in the corner, gets it to
the opposite corner for Emma Venusio. Venusio being pressured there

(01:09:58):
by Miran comes free for Sorry over the Huskies, who
skates it out and gets it to center ice for
Lamb to touch it along. Gorbetenko to Venusio behind the
net in their own zone. Venusio skating it out gets
Bay a couple of Huskies. Here comes Venusio enters the zone,
takes a shot deflected wide of the goal, picked up

(01:10:18):
in the corner by Gorbtenko. Gilbertenko behind the net for
Pekin Hogen centering pass for a haul. Gorbtenko couldn't handle it.
Here's Murphy who rips the shot deflected wide, now picked
up by Wolf for the Huskies. Sial trying to clear,
can't do it just yet. Harvey gets taken down and
the Huskies do clear. Sixteen and a half to go

(01:10:40):
in the second period, still looking for that lead, taking
goal both teams, Eden sends that one down Gorbutenko and
the rest of her line goes off for a change
wolf stretch past for Mustinen got a touch or she
thought she did.

Speaker 3 (01:10:56):
Yeah, but an icing is called. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
Facing it off here down on the offensive end for
the Badgers, just to the right of the goaltender.

Speaker 6 (01:11:04):
See if we can win the draw makes something happen here.

Speaker 4 (01:11:06):
Yep, Try and do what the Huskies have done so
well from the face off circle.

Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:11:11):
So what I meant about being aggressive too.

Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
Even if we don't win the draw, go contest it
right away, you know, get to the puck wherever that
might be, whether they have possession or.

Speaker 3 (01:11:18):
Us, and nobody really wins the draw.

Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
There puck was free for a bit, picked up by
Farrell for the Huskies. Mouston in slipping but gets that
one into the Badger's zone Jungle slipping as well, crashes
into the boards and Shaffley takes it out of the zone.
Here she comes on the right side across the Eden
went off the stick there of Riley. Moustonen Sims at

(01:11:43):
the left point, skating to the middle. Kirsten Simms finds
a lane, tries the tow drag but then lost it
in the process.

Speaker 3 (01:11:49):
Moosten in clears his owne get dad shot off right.

Speaker 4 (01:11:52):
Yep, Potter up ahead, tried to find the stick of
chapavl Avova.

Speaker 3 (01:11:58):
But she couldn't get a touch to it.

Speaker 4 (01:12:00):
So we get a nice in with fifteen thirty five
to go here score.

Speaker 3 (01:12:04):
Is one to one.

Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
Well, we're still on the downside of shots, them having
fifteen and us twelve, but looks like we had a
little more puck possession anyway, you know, in the offensive zone.
So we're heading in the right direction.

Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
I think most certainly it's all about cleaning up these
mistakes as well. Yeah, here's Folks right off the draw,
takes a shot blocked in front by Potter. Folks trying
to get it back to the point is Bryan who
keeps it in and it delayed off side as she
couldn't keep it in. Just barely gets out of the zone.

(01:12:41):
Now brought on the zone by Leila Edwards who just
shovels that one into the glove of Cherka, who collides
with Edwards after the whistle.

Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
We get a face off now.

Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
You know, in just speculation on my part, but you know,
when you're looking for goals anyway, you can get them,
and you see Layla and d you come kind of
quiet back there. You know, I'd like to see her
maybe take a little offensive punch, even from the defensive spot.

Speaker 6 (01:13:06):
But you know she can, she can produce some scoring.

Speaker 4 (01:13:11):
Yeah, we know she's got the ability, right, So we'll
see if we'll see that coming up. Jackal's gonna want
to get it ahead, and she's chasing it into the
Badger zone into the corner, being tied up there with Murphy.
Comes free for Bicard, who gets it up to en
Right at two on two now and right across the
McCarthy McCarthy dumping that one down past en Right, chasing

(01:13:31):
it in the opposite corner is Picard. Jackal takes it away,
en Right has it right back behind the goal for
the Badgers, and Right battling for it there with Lamb.
It comes free for Picard. Picard behind the net on
her knees, trying to make.

Speaker 6 (01:13:45):
The play boy real battle there.

Speaker 4 (01:13:48):
Yeah, and she comes away with it, gets it to
end right and then Krueger falls, so it creates some
space for Picard in the corner. Tries to go to
the point to Murphy, but finds the gap between Venusio
and Murphy, so it goes the length of the ice
fourteen twenty three to go. In the second period one one.
Husky's had an early goal and then the Badger's.

Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
Tied it up.

Speaker 4 (01:14:07):
Late in the first period, Wolf in the neutral zone
sends that one down. Chasing it there is Sorial Scannal
getting there first. McAllen to the point, Orbtenko pressuring, trying
to get out of the zone.

Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
She can't do it.

Speaker 4 (01:14:22):
Sorial at the point to peon left point takes a
shot deflected wide.

Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
It goes to the.

Speaker 4 (01:14:27):
Opposite point for Wolf. Wolf can't keep it in and
now here come the Badgers. Hall couldn't get a handle
on it, gets it taken away by Wolf. Zimmerman sends
it up ahead to mcellian. Nice move, takes a shot
save by McNaughton. Point wow, another chance for her. It's
the second time McKellen's been point blank for McNaughton's made
to save both times scannal. Scannal gets tripped up. Penalty

(01:14:50):
coming up. Here's Harvey. Harvey trying to keep possession. Out
comes McNaughton, and now Harvey's gonna take her time here.
The delayed penalty is the Badgers have an extra skater.
Here's Harvey up ahead the Gorbatenko. Gorbtenko tried to find Eden,
couldn't find her. Wolf's looking to touch up and she

(01:15:11):
does so. The Badgers will go on the power play
for the first time today.

Speaker 6 (01:15:16):
I'll take it. I hope we can convert on this one.

Speaker 3 (01:15:19):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (01:15:20):
Be a nice opportunity to take the lead.

Speaker 7 (01:15:22):
Here.

Speaker 4 (01:15:22):
Best power play percentage in the WCHA, third best in
the nation thirty three percent after two power play goals yesterday,
Maggie Scannal drawing the trip, so taking a seat is
the Huskies goalscorer Laura Zimmerman for that tripping call, Eden,
shapavl e Vova, Edwards, Harvey and Simms the five on

(01:15:44):
the ice for Wisconsin. Puck comes free out of the
draw and Uriola clears the zone right off the bat.

Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Now we've got down this powerplay unit. We've got, you know,
Leila Edwards on her off wing there. Let's see if
she can get a couple opportunities here.

Speaker 4 (01:16:02):
Huh, Yeah, let's see it. She hit the bar on
the power play yesterday. Yeah, it's pretty close to getting
her second straight power play goal. Wasn't able to do so.
As the Huskies cleared the zone once again. Minute and
a half to go here in the power play. No
shots just yet on this power play for the Badgers,
but here's Shapovalova across saved.

Speaker 3 (01:16:23):
Lazy Eden was all alone.

Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
Yeah, great pass from Shappie over to Eden, but great
saved by the goaltender.

Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
Kuricle and uh Peon is pushing Chappa Alvova who was
on the ground and got pushed again and will break
that up.

Speaker 2 (01:16:41):
But giving up about a half a foot a night there,
no kidding, but she plays plays tough.

Speaker 4 (01:16:50):
Paul taking the draw for Wisconsin. The second power play
unit out for the Badgers. Trying to get something going
here in the power play. Nothing to show for in
the first forty five other than that eating chance a
moment ago.

Speaker 3 (01:17:03):
Potter has it at the left point. Potter skating in
the middle.

Speaker 4 (01:17:07):
Goes to hall Hall try to get to Jungles, but
it goes off the stick of Holloway, who goes for
a change. Now here comes Potter again, entering the zone.
Does she stay on side, Yes, she does. Potter skating
into the corner, touches that one along in the opposite
corner for Scannal Gorbatenko's got it behind the net, leaves

(01:17:27):
it for Scannal in the corner, try to get it
back to Gorbutenko Peon colliding there with Gorbatenko. Gorbatenko gets
the better of Folk there and kept in by Jungles
at the point. Here's Jungles across the hall, Hall to Potter.
Potter lost it for a moment, regains possession, spins away

(01:17:48):
at the circle. Here's Cassie Hall rips the shot, save
by Cherka and kept in by Jungles.

Speaker 6 (01:17:54):
Hey job by Vivian Jungles keep that in the zone.

Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
She's done it a couple of times in his own entry.
She takes a shot. Now it's saved by Cherka.

Speaker 6 (01:18:03):
The rebound laying there.

Speaker 4 (01:18:04):
Yeah, nobody there in white to capitalize on that rebound.
Here's a shot from Hall missus the net picked up
behind the net by Scannal. Scannal down load Potter, Potter
shot saved rebound, it's increase, it's loose, no wishine the
Badger's shore an even strength goal for Wisconsin, and Zimmermann

(01:18:25):
came racing out of the box, but she wasn't able
to get there in time, and Maggie Scannal takes the
lead for Wisconsin here in the second period.

Speaker 6 (01:18:34):
What a battle, huh.

Speaker 3 (01:18:35):
He just kept banging away at it.

Speaker 4 (01:18:37):
There no whistle, It was just free in the cree
free and then yet becomes free from Maggie Scannell.

Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
So off to the left of the goaltender in the
blue paint and there you go, Scannal bangs it home.

Speaker 6 (01:18:50):
We needed that one very much, Harry Aiden.

Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
Oh yeah, most certainly we did.

Speaker 4 (01:18:54):
Holy cow, seventh goal of the season for Maggie Scannal.
And the reason why we're not resuming play just yet
is I think perhaps the coaching staff of Saint Cloud
State might want to take a look at this and
see if was that puck frozen? Was there potentially goaltender
interference on that play?

Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
The refs looked, officials looked well positioned, and I think
they had a good look at it and if it
was covered data probably whistled the play dead.

Speaker 3 (01:19:20):
But we'll see, they're going to review it, so they
are going to take a look.

Speaker 4 (01:19:24):
I mean, yeah, like you said, pretty good position for
the officials. I thought, yeah, they made the right call,
and hopefully on our big screen here we'll get a replay.

Speaker 2 (01:19:32):
Yeah, boy, I just liked the effort, you know, on
that powerplay and it just kept trying, kept trying, kept
getting into the net, and then people to the net,
and then you know that I'll come.

Speaker 6 (01:19:43):
You hope for scored a goal there. We'll see if
it holds up here after review exactly.

Speaker 4 (01:19:48):
So we're going to take a quick thirty second break
and we'll be right back with the decision.

Speaker 14 (01:19:53):
When you were a loved one could use a helping hand,
turn to the caring team of experts and senior Living
at oak Park Place.

Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
This is Paul Brown.

Speaker 14 (01:20:01):
And when I needed someone to help me navigate senior
living for my wife, I called.

Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
Oak Park Place.

Speaker 14 (01:20:07):
They were with me every step of the way from
the first call through move in day. Choose a community

Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
Com to learn more.

Speaker 4 (01:20:30):
And we're back right in time for the official to
make the call. And here it is, so there you go,
No goaltender interference is the call.

Speaker 6 (01:20:40):
It is an official goal and it'll stand up.

Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
There you go.

Speaker 4 (01:20:44):
And I believe if that was a coach's challenge, that's
going to be a. Is that a penalty for Saint
Cloud State?

Speaker 6 (01:20:49):
I guess they might forego up time their time out. Perhaps,
I'm not sure.

Speaker 2 (01:20:55):
I'm not sure what the uh unless that's just when
you're entitled to review exactly that's what upon request without
any repercussions.

Speaker 3 (01:21:03):
I think that might be the case. Likely.

Speaker 4 (01:21:05):
Oh yeah, I mean five skaters coming out for Saint
Cloud's State, So.

Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
So it looks like it's gonna hold up, and I'm
glad it is. So we'll take the lead even though
we're being out shot by or no right about even now,
I think close to it.

Speaker 4 (01:21:19):
Yeah, Badgers have I mean they were down by a
couple yeah, in terms of shots, but they were able to.

Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
Off yep.

Speaker 4 (01:21:28):
And though that's technically not a power play goal as
Zimmerman was out of the box, it essentially was. Yeah,
and the Badgers were able to capitalize and take the lead.

Speaker 3 (01:21:38):
So come from behind.

Speaker 4 (01:21:39):
They were down one nothing in the first, tied it
up in the first, took the lead here in the
second with ten forty five to go. Here's picard for
the Badgers entering the zone on the right side off
a skate and behind the goal is en right back
ends that one in open space, picked up by Jackal
for Saint Cloud State and she skates it out of

(01:21:59):
the zone. Krueger touches that along. Huskies go for a change.
Behind the goal is Venusio. Here's En right at center ice,
gets it to McCarthy, drops it off for Hal rips
the shot into the glove of Cherka.

Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
That's a nice puck movement there, smooth through the neutral
zone and I'd like to see we ended up with
a shot on goal, but they're moving the puck getting
it in.

Speaker 4 (01:22:23):
Deep, so face off now to the right of Ameilia Cherka.
Ten to sixteen to go. Here in the second period,
Badger's lead two to one thanks to that goal. A
moment ago from Maggie's Scannal Yeah, Gorbatenko trying to get
that puck free. It comes free for Laura Zimmerman and
then behind the Husky goal to pick it up.

Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
There is Moran.

Speaker 4 (01:22:47):
Now here's Sorel left side centering pass down low and
then crashing into McNaughton. There was Mickellian sorrel centering pass. Again,
it comes, but the Badgers deal with it. Shoveled along
trying to find Harvey, couldn't find her find Surreal instead,
who dumps it down and goes for a change.

Speaker 6 (01:23:11):
The Huskies are a fast skating team.

Speaker 7 (01:23:13):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:23:14):
Yeah, and they've got all that open ice too, yep,
but they're used to. But here's a break now for her.
Gorbat Tenko on the left side centering pass was looking
for it.

Speaker 3 (01:23:22):
All.

Speaker 2 (01:23:22):
That's one where I wish you'd do. Shot the puck,
got to put it on, put it on net.

Speaker 3 (01:23:26):
And now here's a three on two for the Huskies.
Moosed it in.

Speaker 4 (01:23:29):
But she lost it and Eden sends it up ahead
for Hall. She couldn't find it. She beats out Grace Wolf.
Eden shovels that one into the corner. Sims picks it
up at the point is Edwards across the potter one
touches that one into the corner for Sims. Sims, Edward's
up the middle, a lot of space for Edwards. She

(01:23:50):
shoots and it's saved by chircup.

Speaker 2 (01:23:52):
I always like a shot coming off Edwards stick. I
tell you, she puts a lot of zing on it,
like she did. Right there, an ice hard wrister right
from the high slot.

Speaker 4 (01:24:01):
And she looks to be at about one hundred percent obviously, Yeah,
she didn't look to be that way against Minnesota, of course,
and you're injured, you haven't played in a while.

Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
And now she's looking right like's getting their leg again. Yeah,
she's getting here. Yesterday wasn't her. I don't think was
one hundred percent yet. But she's looking better today, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:24:17):
And it takes time, Yeah, it does.

Speaker 4 (01:24:19):
We get our media time out here in the second period,
so we're gonna take a quick break.

Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
We'll be right back in thirty.

Speaker 7 (01:24:27):
Reach for the sky.

Speaker 8 (01:24:30):
At Fields, you're never just a customer.

Speaker 2 (01:24:33):
You're superstar.

Speaker 8 (01:24:35):
You're celebrated. Every visit is personal.

Speaker 9 (01:24:38):
Got you name.

Speaker 3 (01:24:39):
You're superstar.

Speaker 8 (01:24:41):
You're not like the rest, neither are we. You're a superstar,
and at Fields we treat you like one.

Speaker 10 (01:24:47):
At one point APR Prep to seventy two months on
a twenty twenty six Vovo X forty at Fields Vobo
Cars Madison.

Speaker 4 (01:25:04):
Outside of this media time out, Badgers lead to one
with eight fifty eight to go in the second period.
Aiden Michael's Mark Greenhall here with you eighteen shots with
the Badgers to the Huskies sixteen, and the Huskies were
leading in that shot category for most of the game
up until that Power play.

Speaker 3 (01:25:19):
Yeah, I go. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
We started to finally get the puck in deep, getting
the puck to the net.

Speaker 6 (01:25:25):
Now we see the shots a little.

Speaker 3 (01:25:26):
More even thanks we got alright Greenny.

Speaker 6 (01:25:32):
Got Shappy there taking the draw.

Speaker 4 (01:25:34):
She's lost all of them to Sunderland unfortunately loses this
one here a bit of a toss up, but it
comes free for Lamb and the Huskies.

Speaker 6 (01:25:41):
They bring it into the zone right now.

Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
Yeah, Here is Ferrell on the right side, skating behind
the net. It comes free and then Potter picks it
up in the corner of her own zone, trying to
get this puck cleared, and Shappie does so.

Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
Taking it right back in.

Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
Over the Huskies is Sunderling on the line, trying to
get a couple of whacks at it. Never got full control.
At the right point is Lamb for Saint Cloud State.
Lamb takes the shot blockered away by mc naughton. Another
shot from the point just fanned on there by Uriola.
Luckily enough for Wisconsin as they can get that puck

(01:26:18):
cleared at center ICE's Lamb again.

Speaker 3 (01:26:22):
This time we'll have to dump it down and going
for a change.

Speaker 4 (01:26:24):
Is Lamb in her line and right whacking that one
out trying to clear the zone and does Sims finds
Edwards in space. Edward's all alone takes the shot save
made by Cherko. Tried the toe drag there, trying to
help her teammates get off and go for a smooth
line change and was able to do so. Haul Away

(01:26:46):
taking it in the zone for the Huskies. It comes free,
but Card makes a nice move to get it to Murphy.
Murphy now is gonna skate it into center ice entering
the zone on the left side, Murphy's still with it
into the corner. The centering path tipped off of Picard's.
Now Sorial just missed grace Wolf and she'll go for

(01:27:07):
a change. It doesn't reach for icing though. Back the
other way, Picard couldn't get a stick on it, and
that will go for icing the other way. With seven
nineteen to go in the second period, Badger's lead to one.

Speaker 2 (01:27:17):
Yeah, Venuzio banked it up and off the wall, but
like you said, Picard couldn't quite get to it. It
was just beyond her stick, so we got an icing
facing it off.

Speaker 4 (01:27:26):
They're going in Zimmerman and Picard taking the draw. Both
have been both pretty good face off takers. Pacard statistically better.
She wins this one year.

Speaker 3 (01:27:35):
Does that draw?

Speaker 4 (01:27:36):
Yeah, and we talked about it yesterday. But one of
the best face off takers in the nation, the best
in the WHA wins about seventy five percent of them.
Here's she is now, Pacard moving in save rebound, it
comes free McCarthy sit over the nets. Picard and McCarthy
both inches away from their first goal this season. Pacard again,

(01:27:58):
it's saved by Cherka.

Speaker 3 (01:28:00):
Both of them want their first goal.

Speaker 6 (01:28:02):
Yeah, this line is hungry and they're making things happen.

Speaker 4 (01:28:05):
Murphy a shot, say've made rebound loose. Murphy, also looking
for her first goal this season, takes a shot again
blocked by McCarthy. A bit a friendly fire there in
the zone, kept in by the Badgers. Venusio find Scannal
behind the net. Badger's going for a line change, trying
to keep the puck in the Hosky zone, and they do.
McCarthy at the left point is Harvey and a whistle

(01:28:28):
here is the net gets dislodged.

Speaker 6 (01:28:29):
They got a stoppage and play which I'm not sure.
I don't believe there's any pen Is there any penalties?

Speaker 4 (01:28:39):
I saw like the arm go up for the referee,
but I'm not sure there's a penalty there. It's unfortunate
for the Badgers because they had his zone set up there.

Speaker 3 (01:28:47):
This was a nice shift here.

Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
Yeah, I was in the zone and we were getting
pucks to the net rebounds to work with. At least
we kept it in his zone a long period of time.
That's what I like to see.

Speaker 4 (01:28:58):
And I think the referee is, oh, there's a piece
of equipment maybe.

Speaker 6 (01:29:02):
Okay on the ice just getting the nets.

Speaker 4 (01:29:04):
Yeah, no penalty there. I assumed it was a Badger
then that knocked that over. Yeah, And Zimmerman wins the
draw for the Huskies, so they get a bit of
a break there as Sorrel picks it up and sends
it out of the zone for Saint Cloud State. Jungles
has it, tries to clear the zone and does Soreo
picks it up it center ice sends it right back

(01:29:24):
in the zone for the Huskies. Mcnaunton's out there to
grab it for the Badgers. Here's Harvey finds Gorbutenko up ahead,
got a touch so no icing kept in by Hall.
It caroms out to Krueger for the Huskies and here
they come the other way. Labbe finds Krueger, but you
couldn't get a handle on it. She would have had

(01:29:46):
a nice look on goal there had she kept the puck.
Wasn't able to do so. Lamb fanned on the shot
and it's picked up by Harvey. Here's Eden. Now Eden
drops it off for Harvey, Caroline. Harvey gets it taken
away by Moran and the Huskies can look to break
and just missing Labbe and then icing the puck.

Speaker 3 (01:30:07):
It's the worst case scenario. You could have had a
two on one there. You tried to get off. They
were tired.

Speaker 4 (01:30:11):
Now you don't get the two on one. The face
doot comes all the way back and you can't even change.

Speaker 3 (01:30:15):
I'll take it.

Speaker 6 (01:30:17):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
It's nice to see Harvey get a shot on net
there a little bit, and I'd like to see her
get more shots on that if she could.

Speaker 6 (01:30:24):
She have two goals.

Speaker 4 (01:30:25):
Yeah, two goals yesterday. I almost had the hat trick
many times.

Speaker 3 (01:30:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:30:28):
After that, Yeah, five point thirty one to go. Here
in the second period, Bagers have grabbed the lead. Here
in the second they lead to one Sims right off
the draw. Get it Edwards can't keep it in the zone,
so skating it out is Potter. Potter nicely done to
get it back on the zone for Sims. Sims toe
drag shot block, then it goes back and passed Cherka,

(01:30:49):
who falls down. She's able to get up and the
Huskies are able to get it out and Edwards will
go down and chase as the Huskies can finally go
for a change long pass up ahead to and right
right on the left side. Here's Sims now left circle
drops it off for Shoppy going to the net looking
for a shot out in front.

Speaker 3 (01:31:08):
It's off again.

Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
Man, that was off Edwards. I think a stick of
Edwardson just a beautiful shot off the crossbar.

Speaker 4 (01:31:16):
Second time she's hit the bar. Here's Shoppa vale Vava
going to the nets. Say by Chirk, I didn't get
a clean look on it. Badger's still with it. Sims
behind the net spinning away from Uriola. Sims right circle
drops it off now for Edwards hit the iron twice
in this series, Oh boy, And she loses possession of

(01:31:39):
the puck with four to twenty five to go. Here
in the second Sims taking it right back in though
here is Kirsten Simms toa drag shot. Yeah, stores Kirsten
Simms bar down and the Badgers lead three to one
and at his point number two hundred in Kirstin simms
Badger career, the eighth player in program history to reach

(01:32:02):
that mark.

Speaker 6 (01:32:03):
Just a gorgeous shot.

Speaker 2 (01:32:05):
She kind of drags the puck to the slot a
little bit of a tow drag, freezes at goaltender and
goes across the grain slightly to score it just under
the crossbar and over the gloves of the goaltender. Beautiful
goal by sims Man.

Speaker 6 (01:32:20):
Oh Man, I love it.

Speaker 4 (01:32:22):
What better way to score your two hundredth point with
your classic move the toe drag and snipe from Perston
sims And that's what makes the player great is the
opponent may know what you're gonna do every time, but
they cannot stop it.

Speaker 2 (01:32:33):
Yeah, she's just accurate sometimes when she gets that shot
off and it's scored.

Speaker 4 (01:32:38):
There here come the Huskies the other way, a shot
off the blocker of McNaughton, trying to lessen the blow here.
Before the end of this second period, three pot fifty
five to go. Badgers now with a three to one
lead and are now outshooting the Huskies by seven shots.

Speaker 2 (01:32:55):
Yeah, we're starting to get puck possession in the offensive
zone a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:32:59):
Here comes bin move backhander to the nets. Why to
the goal? What a goal that was, a boy, and
then the nut net comes off. Yeah, and mckellian kind
of a Spinnerama there it was.

Speaker 6 (01:33:11):
Yeah, was impressive.

Speaker 3 (01:33:13):
Connor McDavid do the same thing a couple of nights
ago for the Oilers, and that was.

Speaker 2 (01:33:16):
And she created some space with it and slid it
across the slot there and her teammate was right on
the doorstep almost got one home.

Speaker 3 (01:33:24):
What a goal that would have been.

Speaker 4 (01:33:25):
Yeah, for Alissorial four goals this season, the Quebecian and
h The Badgers catch a break because the Huskies had
a chance, but the net was this lodge.

Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
Same story on the other end of the ice a
moment ago. So I guess they can call.

Speaker 4 (01:33:39):
It even now and the Badgers win the draw, as
the Huskies did when it happened to them. Scannal gets
it up to Bokard. Here comes McCarthy, but she's just offside.

Speaker 2 (01:33:48):
Yeah, very close. But the linesman was right there on
the blue line and made the correct call.

Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
Three point thirty one to go.

Speaker 4 (01:33:57):
Here in the second period, Badgers lead three to one
following a beautiful goal from Kirsten Simms. Was goal number
eight of the season. She had a three point night
last night. She continues her point streak today. Harvey at
center ice finds Edwards. She'll be itching for a goal

(01:34:17):
as well. After hitting the iron a couple times in
this series, just floats that one yep into the stomach.

Speaker 6 (01:34:25):
Lobbs went in from far off by the point.

Speaker 4 (01:34:29):
Three twenty one to go here in the second some
fresh defensive legs out for Saint Cloud State and a
face off to the right of Cherka. You got three
of the four fins out on the ice for Saint
Cloud State. Harvey gets it to Edwards. You can't keep
it in the zone. Now it's a two on one

(01:34:49):
for Saint Cloud State across to Ferrell, but it just
goes off the skate of Caroline Harvey. And it was
Ferrell who scored late in the second period last night.
Almost had a good chance there the seconds they do
this side though, Farrell out in front and gets pushed
into the goal, but the puck most importantly out of
the goal.

Speaker 6 (01:35:09):
Great save.

Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
You're right they got it right back in the slot
top of the blue painte. She gets a shot off
point blank right in macnaughton's face, but he Ave is
able to keep the puck out of the net.

Speaker 4 (01:35:21):
It was a beautiful spin from Sofiana Sunderland to create
that chance. And then Farrell got pushed into McNaughton by
a Badger. And then the Badgers, three of them were
surrounding farallh and being like, hey, get away from our goalie.

Speaker 6 (01:35:34):
Ry leave our teammate alone.

Speaker 4 (01:35:37):
Yep, you gotta protect the goaltender. Badgers win the draw
two fifty six to go. Here in the second frame
and Right stays on side but can't keep the puck
gets picked up behind the husky goal by Lamb pressuring
there is in right though Moran gets it up to Michaelian.
Now here's Zimmerman entering the zone on the right side,

(01:35:59):
tries the one too, doesn't get it back. Murphy in
the corner gets it to n right fuck is frozen
along the end boards. It comes free for Ava Murphy.
She slides it across the Potter who tries to exit
the Badger zone and does nicely and right now entering
the zone to Sims had the goal a few minutes ago.

Speaker 3 (01:36:19):
Here she is again, same spot. Tried the tow drag,
didn't work. No, they defended that one.

Speaker 4 (01:36:23):
Another two on one now for Saint Cloud State. Here's
Remick sends it down low to the backhand.

Speaker 3 (01:36:28):
High score.

Speaker 4 (01:36:32):
Maria mckellien, the Russian freshman, lessens the blow for Saint
Cloud State. It's her sixth goal of the season and
it's three to two, and that's not what you want
to see.

Speaker 3 (01:36:47):
In the final two minutes of the second period.

Speaker 2 (01:36:49):
Oh, I could kind of smell that one coming here.
They bringing it to the zone on the right wing,
passed to the slot, she goes in, puts it back
hander in on the ice for a goal.

Speaker 6 (01:37:03):
Second one of the night for Saint Cloud Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:37:05):
It's a nice move there in the front.

Speaker 4 (01:37:09):
But for the second game in a row, it's a
late second period goal for Saint Cloud State. But now,
instead of making it a two goal game as it
was last night when Avery Ferrell scored, it's a.

Speaker 3 (01:37:21):
One goal game. And the tide has changed here in
Saint Cloud.

Speaker 6 (01:37:26):
Yeah, you heard that horn, and that crowd kind of
come to life.

Speaker 3 (01:37:31):
As you said, green and earlier, more fans in attendance. Yeah. Today.

Speaker 4 (01:37:35):
Well, there's still time for the Badgers to get one
here in the second period, minute thirty five to go.
As we get a whistle, the puck gets frozen and
we'll get a face off to come with ninety five
seconds to go. Badgers lead the shot category by six
twenty six to twenty, but again only a one shot game.

Speaker 6 (01:37:56):
Yeah, this is a tight contest, I'll tell you.

Speaker 7 (01:38:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:38:01):
So perhaps a little more exciting for the fans here
in Saint cloud YEP. Their team is right back in it.
Of course, scored the opening goal early on in the
first then gave up three unanswered goals to Wisconsin, and
then they get one back right here late in the
second face off to the left of Cherko haul In Sunderland. Sunderland,
the best face off taker on the team for the Huskies,

(01:38:23):
wins it there. Then it's turned over peaking hogging behind
the net in the corner finds Eden Eden being pressed
up against the boards. There it comes free haul chasing
into the corner gets there before mouston In. Mouston In
wins it right back off a haul though mouston In
trying to clear can't quite do it, and then the
Huskies do clear into open ice, sent down by Venusio.

Speaker 3 (01:38:47):
Now behind then it is Cherka back hands it to Uriola.
Huskies can't clear the zone. Oh and McCarthy let that run.

Speaker 4 (01:38:55):
Thought it was going to reach Harvey, but it didn't
and it goes all the way the length of the
ice for mcnaton to grabs.

Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
Reached the final minute of the second period. Here Harvey.

Speaker 4 (01:39:05):
Haw's it at center ice, lost it for a moment,
gets it up to McCarthy. Zimmerman picks it up, long
pass up ahead, Harvey put a stick on it and
then it's entered by Storial on the zone and then
sticked away by mcnonton. As that one went on goal,
Harvey up to McCarthy. Badgers can't afford to turn the
puck over here in their own zone. Late in the

(01:39:27):
second period, Wolf gets it around, picked up by Harvey,
mishandled the puck again the goal scorer mckellian brings it
in behind the net for the Huskies. Murphy takes it
back for Wisconsin. Final thirteen seconds of the second period.
Badgers skate it out. Now they've got a break. Here's

(01:39:47):
Murphy moving in save rebound is loose.

Speaker 3 (01:39:50):
No whistle.

Speaker 4 (01:39:51):
Yet now we get a whistle. Three Badgers are in
the crease. That's like a couple of Husky's on the
ground there. Yeah, what a chance that was. What a
goal that would have been with three point seven to
go here.

Speaker 2 (01:40:02):
Yeah, Eva Murphy comes down the right wing, almost goes
end in with it, gets a nice shot on goal.

Speaker 3 (01:40:07):
There's a rebound there.

Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
We got McCarthy and I think scandal or Picard coming
down the slot and I was hoping they could bang
in a rebound.

Speaker 6 (01:40:16):
The goalie covered it. So that was a good play.

Speaker 4 (01:40:20):
It was a great play started all by Ava Murphy.
If you're not going to score on your shot, might
as well create a nice rebound.

Speaker 3 (01:40:26):
For your teams. Not sure it did, but.

Speaker 4 (01:40:28):
Unfortunately for the Badgers they were not able to capitalize.
Huskies win the draw, they get it out of the
zone and that will do it for period number two.
The Badgers with a couple goals in this second period.
They got their lead to three to one, but then
another late second period goal for the Huskies and it's
three to two after two.

Speaker 6 (01:40:46):
It's gonna go right down to the buzzer.

Speaker 3 (01:40:48):
Aiden that it will.

Speaker 4 (01:40:49):
We're gonna take a quick break. When we come back
the intermission report here on ten to seventy of the game.

Speaker 3 (01:40:54):
Do not go anywhere.

Speaker 14 (01:40:56):

Speaker 4 (01:41:32):
And welcome back after that quick break, Aiden, Michael's still
here with you inside the Brooks Center in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.
As the kids are on the ice now in Saint
Cloud during this intermission, they've got the smaller goals out
for them as well.

Speaker 3 (01:41:46):
That's good for the goalie.

Speaker 4 (01:41:47):
I know growing up in LA at the Los Angeles
Kings games I used to go to, they had the
kids on the ice. I think my cousin was actually
one of those kids one time, but they kept the
big goals on so those little goalies, those little seven
or eight year old goalies had to defend those big
goals that were five times the size of them. So
luckily for a number fourteen the kid goaltender here, he
gets a smaller goal. But anyway, it's three to two

(01:42:10):
after two periods here in Saint Cloud a much closer
contest than yesterday where the Badgers won five to one.

Speaker 3 (01:42:17):
And it looks like every time a kid scores, they're
going to play the horn, So apologies if you if
you get a bit of that.

Speaker 4 (01:42:22):
In the background. But the Badgers were down won nothing
in the first period. It was an early goal from
Laura Zimmerman, the Swiss superstar for Saint Cloud State, tight
angle shot getting it by Aba McNaughton took the lead
for Saint Cloud State. Then the Badgers tied it up,
and then they took the lead. They scored a third goal.
They made it three to once of three unanswered goals

(01:42:42):
for Wisconsin, which was brilliant for them, but then again
they collapsed late in the second period. Now, Avery Farrell
last night scored to lessen the blow to make it
a three goal or a two goal game instead of
a three goal game. She scored late in the second
last night. This time Maria Michaelian, the freshman from Moscow,
scores her sixth goal of the season late in the

(01:43:03):
second period to make this a one goal game. So
now we've got an exciting one heading into the third period.
It's three to two Wisconsin after two. Now I had
a chance to speak to Grace Bickett, the sophomore defender
for the Badgers, after practice last Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (01:43:17):
So we're going to take a listen to that. This
is the player profile segment brought to you by Goodwin's Jewelers.
Take a listen. Welcome back.

Speaker 4 (01:43:24):
You did a mission report on ten to seventy of
the game. Aiden Michael's here with Grace Bickett. Grace, welcome,
How are you hi?

Speaker 7 (01:43:29):
I'm great, Thanks for asking.

Speaker 11 (01:43:30):
How about you?

Speaker 4 (01:43:31):
Fantastic?

Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:43:32):
So you left your high school as one of, if
not the best players to ever come from that high
school as a hockey player, setting the assist record one
hundred and twenty three, it says, demolishing that record. Incredible stuff.
What was that like making the jump from playing high
school and dominating the competition, coming up playing D one
in one of the most, if not the most competitive
conference in the league, but then also playing for the

(01:43:53):
best team in the nation.

Speaker 7 (01:43:55):
You know, it's an experience like no other.

Speaker 9 (01:43:57):
And I'm very happy and humble, and.

Speaker 7 (01:43:59):
I could have done it with my teammates surrounded by
me in high school and then the same thing goes here.
It's just taking my hockey career to the next level
and just going and trying to show my best self
and contribute to such an amazing team at the next division.

Speaker 9 (01:44:12):
One level was unlike any other.

Speaker 4 (01:44:13):
So and in your rookie season you go and win
a national championship, not the worst rookie season, winning a
title in your first year, getting the ring already. So
you talk about making the jump from high school to college,
but then making the jump from being a rookie but
now having some games under your belt being a sophomore
this year.

Speaker 3 (01:44:29):
What's been the biggest difference for you?

Speaker 7 (01:44:32):
Your work epic really shows. So off the ice, what
are you doing to get one percent better each day
is what I would like to say.

Speaker 9 (01:44:38):
And are you eating right, are you getting enough sleep?

Speaker 7 (01:44:41):
And are you just doing the small things to contribute
and show again your best self. So I would say
that's definitely what made me go from my rookie season
to my sophomore season and.

Speaker 4 (01:44:50):
Seeing some more ice and you know, obviously still being
an underclassman, but have you taken on sort of a
leadership role for some of the younger players the new
freshman class coming in?

Speaker 7 (01:45:00):
People would say, I'm pretty talkative, So I would say,
I really try to welcome the team because our team
chemistry on and off the ice is huge and you
can see it on the ice definitely, and making sure
everyone feels welcome is something that I really take pride in.
So I think everyone is here is my best friend,
and I love to make sure everyone's included. So I
would say, yeah, that's my role.

Speaker 4 (01:45:19):
And Eve been playing hockey since age five?

Speaker 3 (01:45:21):
Who got you into hockey?

Speaker 4 (01:45:23):
So my parents?

Speaker 7 (01:45:24):
Actually, I would say living in Minnesota. If you're in Minnesota,
what else would you do besides putting on a pair
of skates?

Speaker 9 (01:45:29):
So that was my big jump, So yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:45:32):
What made you want to keep going with it?

Speaker 7 (01:45:35):
You know, it was fun every since I put on
the skates, So I was like, wow, Like it feels
nice when you like go and like score, like do
with your teammates, and it's such a tight knit community.

Speaker 9 (01:45:44):
So I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Speaker 4 (01:45:46):
And you're quite the multi sport athlete as well. What
made you choose hockey over everything else and continue to
play hockey more than the other sports?

Speaker 7 (01:45:54):
Oh, I just always enjoyed even if it was like
the six am practice. I always had a smile my face.
But definitely that. And then, uh, soccer actually got a
pretty bad knee injury, so that one I was like,
you know, I wasn't very funnel.

Speaker 9 (01:46:07):
I'll stick to hockey.

Speaker 7 (01:46:08):
I told my alc all.

Speaker 9 (01:46:10):
My miscus, which one my Ridney.

Speaker 7 (01:46:14):
Yeah, so you got the crazy stares.

Speaker 4 (01:46:15):
So yeah, wow, all right, Well, obviously we're all happy
to have you play hockey. It would have been great
on the soccer team, obviously, but.

Speaker 7 (01:46:22):
Hockey is like no other though.

Speaker 9 (01:46:23):
That's true, great for the world and taught me a
lot of lessons.

Speaker 4 (01:46:26):
Best sport out there, I would say, trying to be unbiased,
But anyway, at what point did you realize then you
were good enough to play hockey at a bigger level,
not just in college, but at a D one level
for the best team in the nation.

Speaker 7 (01:46:38):
I would say I actually wrote a letter to myself
graduating high school and it was like, go to Madison
play your dream, like sport, and I would say just
believing myself since a young age and knowing that if
I work hard enough and do it, I'll be able
to show in the end. And then my supportive family
friends always were like, you're good enough, just keep going,
and it worked.

Speaker 9 (01:46:58):
Out for me so great.

Speaker 4 (01:47:00):
Well, at what point did you realize it was gonna
be Madison?

Speaker 3 (01:47:02):
Then?

Speaker 4 (01:47:02):
Has that always been a dream of.

Speaker 3 (01:47:04):
Yours or what was that?

Speaker 22 (01:47:05):
Like?

Speaker 7 (01:47:06):
My mom actually went here, so in my family, in
my mom's sides here, so it's always been a dream
to go here.

Speaker 9 (01:47:10):
In the program again, everyone knows it's like no other.

Speaker 7 (01:47:13):
So it's always been in my dreams. And I was
a late recruits, so I always had it in mind.
I always was staying connected. And then senior year, I
got the call and was like, I get I guess
I'll I'll go. So I'm so happy about it.

Speaker 3 (01:47:26):
You said you're in late recruit So what was that
recruitment process like for you?

Speaker 7 (01:47:29):
Then? So again with my injury, I was out my
whole sophomore year and that's your like prime recruiting. So
right when I got calls, I got calls, but they're like,
I'm gonna see develop like let's see how you get back.
And then I use that as my motivation and with
again my supportive family and friends, they helped me get back.
And then once they saw that I was back, then
schools were like, yeah, come come visit, come come here.

Speaker 4 (01:47:52):
And I was like, okay, So yeah, and you've had
a lot of time. Obviously you're only a sophomore, but
do you have any plans of what you want to
do post graduation, post career? Do you want to continue
in hockey or what do you want to do with hockey?

Speaker 7 (01:48:05):
I want to see how long it goes, like whatever
opportunities come my way. I always love the sport. And
then besides that, I'm studying to be predental.

Speaker 9 (01:48:12):
I would hope to be like an orthodonist.

Speaker 4 (01:48:14):
So that's the goal. That's amazing, That's awesome. Now, our
last question going back to hockey, going back to this season,
obviously with the rivalry series, you have a bit of
a bye week as far as games go. What does
that bye week do for you as far as rest
going into a big series against Saint Cloud this weekend.

Speaker 7 (01:48:30):
It's a mental and physical break and it kind of
gets us time to rejuvenate and kind of get ourselves
on our feet again with like our amazing team like
somewhere at like Rivalry series some we're just really needing
to rest and recover. And now we're all together, we
all back and better than ever and ready to take
on st. Cloud.

Speaker 9 (01:48:45):
So we're excited, all right.

Speaker 3 (01:48:46):
Thanks Grace, Thank you so much.

This is the conclusion of the intermission report, brought to
you by Fields Madison, your premier Luxuriato group serving customers
since nineteen seventy one. Before the break, if you heard
me speaking to Grace Bickett, unfortunately not being dressed for
this series, but with all the injuries on the blue
line in the last couple of games, she's had a
lot more playing time and she was doing quite well.

(01:53:22):
She did very well in place of Lady Potter, for example,
who was out, Ava Murphy who was out obviously Leila
Edwards not being at one hundred percent. That's been sort
of the story. One of the stories that is for
the Badgers this season is their injuries. Their injury woes
have continued. This is the first time in a bit
that we've had a fully healthy Wisconsin team. It was

(01:53:45):
a completely injured team two weeks ago, for example, and
even against Minnesota where they got the series sweep, you know,
biggest matchup of the season so far, they were down
quite a few players and those players that were back
from injury were still not one hundred percent Kirsten Simms
and Leila Edwards most likely most namely excuse me, but
now the Badgers are healthy, it's great to see. They've

(01:54:07):
been playing great. They played great last night against Saint
Cloud State. Today's been a similar story. But the Huskies
are just playing a lot better. And what's scary is
the Huskies are a third period team, as their head
coach Miro yellow Suo has said before and told me
yesterday before the game, that they do tend to strive
in the third period. Now, of course they don't aim
to do that. They aim to play well in all

(01:54:28):
three periods. But they haven't been a great first period team.
They've been a decent second period team and a great
third period team. And the Badgers as well are a
great third period team. So we'll see what happens. But
we're a few minutes away from puck drop here to
start the third period, as Mark Greenhall is joining me
now on the headset, and yeah, we're just I've talking

(01:54:49):
to It's just me, but I was just talking to
the folks at home about how the Badgers they've been
playing well. But the Huskies have been playing pretty great themselves,
and of course, getting at late goal in that second period,
putting themselves back within just one goal here.

Speaker 2 (01:55:03):
Yeah, you know, like it's it's funny, the little things
really count a lot. Like so we have a turnover
in our offensive zone and they transition the puck quickly
up and out of the zone, they goal. They end
up with a two on one going the other way,
and they score their second goal with just a couple
of minutes left in the period. Now you know, momentum

(01:55:23):
shifter and you know they're they're right in it. So
it's like everything the little details are pretty important, you know,
and it's it's hard to realize that, uh in real time,
but you got to make sure that counts. Or do
we have people covered in our defensive zone?

Speaker 6 (01:55:41):
Or who's open?

Speaker 3 (01:55:41):
Who's a threat?

Speaker 7 (01:55:43):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:55:43):
Do I am I in the right spot? Or do
I got to get somewhere? And if I, if I do,
I better get there now, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:55:49):
Yeah, and uh, and maybe the obvious statement is important.

Speaker 4 (01:55:52):
One I could tie the game or it could padgures
in a decently comfortable position.

Speaker 6 (01:55:58):
You're right, And again you know, saws are important. And
what do you do after the draw the puck is dropped?

Speaker 3 (01:56:04):
You know, get to it? Be aggressive.

Speaker 4 (01:56:07):
So here we go about twenty seconds from puck drop
to start the final period of regulation. Now we remember,
of course, uh besides yesterday when the Badgers won five
to one. The game before that against Saint claud State,
it ended in a tie, they went to overtime, nobody scored,
ended up going to the shootout. So yeah, these two
teams are no strangers. Are playing against each other in

(01:56:29):
extra time?

Speaker 2 (01:56:30):
Nope, you're right. They always give us a contest. One
thing we discussed this before the game too. We see
an opponent's best efforts often times, you know, we kind
of have a target on our back, yep.

Speaker 6 (01:56:40):
And you know Saint Cloud's answering the bell.

Speaker 2 (01:56:42):
We're seeing a great effort by them, and as a result,
we're in a skin tight game here.

Speaker 3 (01:56:47):
And away we go to start the third period in
Saint Cloud.

Speaker 4 (01:56:50):
Caroline Harvey stretches that pass up to Lacy Eden or
Potanco overskates it and it comes out of the zone
for Harvey to collect. Eden waits for Hall to get
on side, then enters the zone on the right side,
sends that one behind the goal and it's picked up
in the corner by Gorbutenko and then Zimmerman picks it up,
tries to get it clear, can't do it.

Speaker 3 (01:57:09):
Taken away by Lacey Eden for the Badgers.

Speaker 4 (01:57:12):
Skating to the middle, keeps it in, takes a shot
wide to the goal, and they said that she didn't
keep that in, so the Badgers have to touch up. Luckily,
the puck comes free for them in the neutral zone
and they can attempt to take it right back in
if they can maintain possession, which they cannot. So here
come the Huskies. Moran taken away by the Badgers. Here's
Cassie Hall up the middle. Cassie Hall makes a great

(01:57:34):
move to the net, backhander saved by Turka.

Speaker 2 (01:57:38):
She just undressed that defenseman there. She had a great move,
deeked past her, got a backhander on net. Goalie makes
a save.

Speaker 3 (01:57:46):
Great move there from Cassie Hall.

Speaker 4 (01:57:47):
Sure was did not score last night, has not scored
yet today she scores often. She was really hoping to
get on the score sheet. There for lots of hockey
to be played here. In the third period nineteen oh four,
remain Edwards throws one toward goals, saved by Cherka. Couldn't
handle it, so the rebound goes into the corner picked
up by Sims. Sims on the right side had it

(01:58:09):
taken away momentarily by Mooston In but it's kept in
by Edwards, who sends it back behind the goal.

Speaker 3 (01:58:14):
Wolf gets it up ahead. Here's Ferrell.

Speaker 4 (01:58:18):
Ferrold gets it out of the zone for the Huskies,
but still Saint Cloud State cannot keep possession of the puck.

Speaker 3 (01:58:23):
Sims drops it off for Edwards. Sim's not one to cross.

Speaker 4 (01:58:26):
And then getting hit there with chapavl a vauva, and
we talk about how often she takes hits shacky and
gets taken down there as well.

Speaker 6 (01:58:34):
She got dropped in the slot there, that's for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:58:38):
Seems to be okay. I mean, she gets she gets
taken down a launch. He's not the biggest player, but
she gets right back.

Speaker 6 (01:58:42):
Up, So he's a tough competitor that she is.

Speaker 3 (01:58:46):
Scannal Picard McCarthy the forwards.

Speaker 4 (01:58:49):
We're gonna keep an eye out on McCarthy, who normally
gets this right off the draw and takes a shot.
Instead it goes to Murphy, but the Badgers win the draw. Nonetheless,
takes a weird bounce off the end boards. Clearing attempt
not successful for the Huskies, but then a couple of
Badgers ran into each other, so the Huskies got the
zone cleared. It's sent right back in though by Wisconsin

(01:59:12):
the Adrews keeping the zone. Here's putcard sending that one
down load, deflected wide of the goal and then cleared
to the point for Venusio and then taken out by folks.
That's about three clearing attempts for the Huskies that were unsuccessful. Finally,
on the fourth time they got it out seventeen fifty
five to go. Here in the third period, here's Murphy

(01:59:33):
for Wisconsin at center ICE's McCarthy.

Speaker 3 (01:59:36):
We'll dump and go for a change.

Speaker 4 (01:59:40):
Now picked up is zimmer Minute center Ice, taking it
in on the left side in the zone, dumps that
one down behind the goal. Harvey picks it up for Wisconsin,
gets it right back from Jungles.

Speaker 3 (01:59:51):
Now up ahead to Hall.

Speaker 4 (01:59:52):
Here's Cassie Hall in a three on two. Just off
side is Kelly Gorbatenko.

Speaker 3 (01:59:57):
Yep, she was.

Speaker 2 (01:59:58):
I can see that from here anxious, and I don't
blame her, but gotta stay on sides.

Speaker 3 (02:00:04):
And that stops up that attack.

Speaker 6 (02:00:06):
Yeah, we'll face it off in the neutral zone here.

Speaker 3 (02:00:08):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (02:00:09):
Cassie Hall taking the draw against Laura's Zimmerman. Let's see,
here's two number eleven's and Cassie Hall gets the win
on the draw. Yep, shoveled in by Vivian Jungles. Back
behind the goal is Cherka door Potenco with some pressure.
It's Alice Soreal who gets it out of the zone.

(02:00:30):
Nice play there from Caroline Harvey defensively back in the
zone for Wisconsin to lay it offside. And here's another
break for Saint Cloud State. It's Zimmerman Zimmerman down load.
Great diving play from Vivian Jungles.

Speaker 3 (02:00:41):
Yeah, she broke up at two on one. Now it's
a three on two for Wisconsin. The other way, here's Hall.

Speaker 4 (02:00:47):
Haul takes a shot, takes a deflection off a stick
and out of play with seventeen oh one to go
and the Badgers hold on to a three to two lead.

Speaker 3 (02:00:54):
But what a chance there.

Speaker 2 (02:00:56):
Yeah, the puck transitions quickly, they're coming down toward us.
Buggles makes a great play to defend their two on one.
We get up and out of the zone and get
a three on two the.

Speaker 4 (02:01:04):
Other way, And it's how Mikaelian scored that goal was
on a two on one in the second period. She
was the other player on that two on one, but
puck never found her thanks to a diving effort from
Vivian Jungles. Right off the drafts Landy Potter still with
it to the net. Second whack at it goes wide
of the goal, picked up by chap of ali Vova.
She has it right back from Edwards down around the corner,

(02:01:27):
finding Sims on the left corner behind the goal and
right it skips over her stick. Chappie picks it up
in the corner. Puck is loose for en right to
grab in the right corner of the Husky zone. Here's
Wolf trying to get it free for the Huskies. Clearing
attempt from muston In hits off the skate of Edwards
and Mustenin regains possession. Wolf skates it out of the zone,

(02:01:49):
gets it to center ice, but gives it away, picked
up by chap of alle Vova. Potter stretch eyes passed,
intercepted there by Peon. Now a break for the Huskies.
Pass across a bit too much mustard On that one
too hot for Kruger to handle, and Shoppie and Potter
trying to get that free. Jackal gets it to the

(02:02:10):
point over the Huskies shot.

Speaker 3 (02:02:11):
Saved by McNaughton. The rebound is loose.

Speaker 4 (02:02:14):
It comes free now for Lamb, who takes the shot
blocker away by Ava McNaughton. Labbe gets it to the point.
Uriola takes a shot into the glove of McNaughton. A
flurry of shots, but no hard task there for Ava McNaughton.

Speaker 3 (02:02:29):
Man.

Speaker 2 (02:02:30):
They probably had about four shots in a ten second
spanner left there, and a lot of them in tight too.

Speaker 3 (02:02:40):
Yeah, I'm just looking at the replay.

Speaker 4 (02:02:41):
A couple of good looks there from Saint Cloud's stay,
but aviacnaughton making some great stops. She's made twenty five
saves on twenty seven shots. Today, Badgers lead three to
two with fifteen forty eight to go. Here in regulation,
right off the draws Folk, it's blocked in front by Scannal,
the goal scorer of the most recent Wisconsin Gold Taking

(02:03:02):
it right back in is Peyton Remick, but then it's
given away. Pacard up to Scannal. Scandal at center ice
will dump that one down behind the goal. Is Chirky
to collect, tries to clear the zone, gets it up
ahead to Holloway up to Remick at center ice, but
she loses possession of it and picked up by Murphy,
stops up. Nice move to get around Remick, find Scannal.

(02:03:24):
Now Scannal at center ice, makes a move around Zimmerman,
Toad drags, tries to get around Wolf, can't quite do it.
Picard comes to the rescue and picks it back up
for Wisconsin. Has it in the corner, being pushed up
against the boards there by Wolf, and the puck comes
free from McKellan.

Speaker 3 (02:03:41):
Now Zimmerman. Zimmerman on the left side, moving.

Speaker 4 (02:03:44):
In the net the centering pass, pawning on it and
then taking a second shot. It's gobbled up by McNaughton
and another great chance for Marie Moran.

Speaker 2 (02:03:53):
Yeah, the opportunities are getting their high percentage. You know,
they're all right in there lower slot, right around the crease. Oly,
old boy, can't be giving them too many of those opportunities.

Speaker 4 (02:04:04):
No, we're only six minutes or so into the third
period and the Huskies have had some great looks on goal,
and there's just one goal away from tying it up
here Zimmerman and Hall. Hall wins the draw, gets it
behind the Badger net for Caroline Harvey, who drops it
off for Jungles. Jungles finds Eden just pokes that one

(02:04:26):
along gives the puck away. McKellen tries to get it
away from Jungles. Bit sloppy here from the Badger, so
the Huskies keep the zone. Sunderland gets it to McKellen.
Puck comes free again, this time Eaton's able to get
it up to Peking Hogin and here comes Cassie Hall.
Cassie Hall stops up eat In a backhander, say rebound

(02:04:47):
his loose. Hall gets it behind the net. Cassie Hall
gets it to Harvey. Harvey at the point can't she
keep it in? Yes she can, but gives it away
in the process to Alice Sorrial, who dumps that one
in and goes for a change.

Speaker 2 (02:05:00):
Tell you if you stick handle the puck too long here,
they will strip you of the puck. They will, You'll
turn it over.

Speaker 3 (02:05:07):
You gotta move it. Yeah, they've done that a few
too many times. You want to say here in this game.

Speaker 2 (02:05:12):
Not to be critical, but I'm just saying you don't
want to hang on to it too long here Here
they're a good, good team as far as defending.

Speaker 4 (02:05:19):
Cassie Hall on the right point gives it away. Now
skating it into the Badger zone is Holloway mooston In
never got a full handle on it. So the puck
comes free for Claire Enright, who's gonna take it in
the zone on the left side and right moving to
the corner, centering pass off a skate save made my
Cherka and it comes free for Edwards.

Speaker 3 (02:05:40):
Edwards rips the shot wide of the goal. Looked like
it went off a skate.

Speaker 6 (02:05:44):
Yeah, it was a Husky kind of a redirect there.

Speaker 4 (02:05:46):
Yeah, and it completely lost Ava or excuse me, Amelia Cherka,
but she was able to make the save and in
the end the Husky's ice it and we'll go back
down the other way for a face off in the
Husky zone with thirty team twenty two to go in
a Badger's three to two lead.

Speaker 2 (02:06:02):
Well, you know, after seeing Chobach yesterday and Kuriko today,
they've got two good goaltenders, don't they.

Speaker 6 (02:06:08):
Oh yeah, you know they search solid, solid and nut.
No drop off between the two here.

Speaker 3 (02:06:14):
Not at all.

Speaker 4 (02:06:16):
Halloway taking the draw and winning the draw for the
Huskies and getting it up to spend you folks. The
German at center ice has it and then dumps it
down into the Badger's zone. Lady Potter for Wisconsin there
to collect it, and right at the blue line gets
pushed into the boards. Everyone in the Wisconsin bench wants

(02:06:37):
a penalty and they will get one. And now Kirsten
Simms wants a piece of the pie there and is
gonna start pushing ea shoving.

Speaker 3 (02:06:42):
You can't afford to do that.

Speaker 2 (02:06:43):
No, getting into any post whistle activity doesn't pay off
very well. So we'll see what they assess for penalties
if any here.

Speaker 3 (02:06:52):
Yeah, I mean, I don't know if it's going to
be a cross check and or a body check. We'll
a wait the call. Now are they going to have.

Speaker 4 (02:07:01):
A look at this perhaps? I'm not sure doing it
for a five minute major? That was kind of a
dangerous play, it really was. Was that n right down
there or who I think it was?

Speaker 3 (02:07:12):
M end of the wall? I believe it was.

Speaker 2 (02:07:14):
And you know, whenever you get struck from behind and
you're when you're within a foot or two of the wall,
it can be a dangerous, precarious situation there.

Speaker 6 (02:07:22):
So they are sitting down a Saint Cloud player.

Speaker 4 (02:07:25):
Yep, it will be Grace Wolf, one of the captains,
and we'll wait the call here. Well, I couldn't hear
what the official said, no, but I think, if I'm guessing,
they just said we're gonna review this as if.

Speaker 2 (02:07:41):
They was eating a bag of Eminem's when he said
whatever he said there, because I couldn't make it out either,
But we'll see. I think they're trying to determine how
many minutes. I mean, is that potential five or is
it a two minute minor?

Speaker 3 (02:07:56):
You know, there you go. Yeah, they got to play
under review sign up on the boards.

Speaker 6 (02:08:01):
It was dangerous, it really was.

Speaker 4 (02:08:03):
Yeah, it's it was a few feet from the boards
and Enroi just went crashing in head first.

Speaker 3 (02:08:08):
Yeah. I mean that's something that they're obviously trying to
take out of the game.

Speaker 6 (02:08:11):
Yeah, nobody wants to see that, no matter what player
it is.

Speaker 4 (02:08:14):
Yeah, and we're gonna take a look at this replay
here and we'll try and illustrate it as best we can.
So what happened was is Enright was receiving the puck
at the blue line of her own zone.

Speaker 2 (02:08:24):
Just inside the blue right at the blue line, and
she gets yeah, she gets pushed into the wall pretty
blatantly there.

Speaker 4 (02:08:31):
And then Shappie tried to get a push of her own.
She falls down the process, but we like her standing
up for her teammates. So yeah, I mean, it didn't
It wasn't a cross check into the boards, which we
see a lot. It was to just hitting the boards
which push into the wall. It was definitely a push,
so certainly a penalty. And we're gonna get the announcement.

Speaker 3 (02:08:50):
Now, we'll get the official call.

Speaker 4 (02:08:57):
Pushed from behind is the call, as we know. And
see a hand go up for two, it's going to
be foul. Yeah, And look at Grace Wolf, she's going
out of the penalty box.

Speaker 3 (02:09:05):
She's done. Wow.

Speaker 4 (02:09:08):
That's a game misconduct as well for Grace Wolf. Captain yeah,
graduate captain.

Speaker 3 (02:09:15):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (02:09:17):
So not only a five minute major, but it is
a game the game misconduct. Yeah, I mean it's not
a it's not a ten minute misconduct, I don't think no. Yeah,
And going to serve that penalty is the extra skater
Reese strouts.

Speaker 3 (02:09:32):
But that's huge.

Speaker 4 (02:09:33):
So the Badgers are going to go on the five
minute power play here with thirteen oh five to go.

Speaker 3 (02:09:38):
Here in the third period, and that is brutal for
Saint Cloud's state. They were in this game.

Speaker 4 (02:09:43):
And now the Badgers, who've got the best power play
in the w CHA. They can score as many goals
as they want now in the next five minutes.

Speaker 6 (02:09:51):
Do we make this count here?

Speaker 4 (02:09:53):
You gotta get at least two here, I would think, boy,
I mean they'll take one with one.

Speaker 6 (02:09:58):
Yeah, don't get.

Speaker 3 (02:09:59):
Too great, and yeah, you're right, I don't blame you,
but but here we go. We can do. Here comes
Harvey with it, Caroline Harvey.

Speaker 4 (02:10:08):
I don't think, oh, it's a penalty already, it's offside
a collision there, and they're gonna shave two minutes off.

Speaker 3 (02:10:15):
This power play? Are they getting Eden? I think they're
gonna get eaten?

Speaker 4 (02:10:19):
And what I saw was Eden was at the blue line,
was trying to stay on side and just gets tangled
up with one of the Huskies and she's gonna get called.

Speaker 3 (02:10:27):
For an interference penalty there.

Speaker 2 (02:10:28):
Wow, And then Harvey was the one that went down.
And what looked to me from here to be a
potential trip Yeah, but clearly that wasn't the case. Is
they sit Lacy Eden into the box for two minutes?
So there we go, just to make them what we
got going on, right, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:10:47):
We didn't get a replay on the on the stream
that's right above us, but either way, we get some
four on four hockey now.

Speaker 3 (02:10:52):
So a break for Saint Cloud State. Wisconsin. Didn't you
want to didn't even have a chance to set up here,
and they score Sidney Lambs game and I mean it
is it is a nightmare for Wisconsin.

Speaker 4 (02:11:09):
Wow, her first goal the season, her first career goal,
might I add, so congratulations to Sydney Lamb her first
career goal from Lombard, Illinois. She has three assistans season season,
gets her first career goal there, and I'll tell you
what Greenea, Wow, I didn't see anything here. The referees
were looking at it for a moment. Ava McNaughton was

(02:11:30):
very quick to talk to the official. I don't know
if she wanted perhaps a goaltender interference call, but.

Speaker 2 (02:11:36):
I'm not sure there was traffic in front of the meat,
so I don't know if she saw the puck cleanly,
but I don't know if they committed any infraction.

Speaker 3 (02:11:43):
Yeah, and they're gonna let it play her.

Speaker 4 (02:11:45):
It looks pretty clean to me. But just like that,
after the Badgers got on the five minute power play.
They now give up the lead and we've got a
tie game here in Sant Cloud. But the power play,
the Badgers still have a bit of a power play
in a couple of minutes they hoped to not concede
any more goals. Still a minute forty two left on

(02:12:05):
Lacey Eden power play, and since it was four on four,
of course Eden stays in the box correct and uh yeah,
it's it's brutal, and it's a good thing that the
Badgers have quite a chunk of their five minute major
after this Lacey Eaeden penalty.

Speaker 3 (02:12:21):
So that was a chance to hit back. But wow, the.

Speaker 4 (02:12:23):
Badgers did not have a single chance on the power
play before they got called for a penalty. They didn't
possess the puck after they gave up that penalty, and
then of course Sydney Lamb found the back of the net.

Speaker 3 (02:12:35):
But here we go.

Speaker 4 (02:12:35):
Badgers are looking to regain the lead here in the
third period, twelve fifteen to go, and now the Badgers
can try and set something up here.

Speaker 3 (02:12:43):
They're pretty good.

Speaker 6 (02:12:44):
Four on four, boy, we got a game here.

Speaker 2 (02:12:47):
Huh oh yeah, yeah, we do three to three with
twelve minutes to goal in the contest.

Speaker 3 (02:12:53):
Hm.

Speaker 4 (02:12:56):
At center ice. Now chasing it is Peon no icing
is beats out Potter. Peon trying to hold the puck
as they get new skaters on the ice for the Huskies,
and she did so well. Oh boy, here comes Uriola.
Takes a shot deflected wide of the goal. Big chance
there on the four on four for Saint Cloud State
and right at least can clear the zone. Eleven and

(02:13:19):
a half to go. Here in the third period, it
is tied at three. Sunderland drops it off for Lambs.
Scored her first career goal a few minutes ago. Here
she is again taking a shot and it goes wide
and Soriol is going to let that one run and
pick it up at center ice for Uriola. Euola dumps
that one down and Potter picks it up behind the
Badger goal. Here comes Vivian Jungles, dumps that one down,

(02:13:46):
goes for a change, Get a change, Yeah, gets twenty
twenty seconds remaining on Lacey Eden's penalty. She's ready to
come out of the box and then the Badger's well
have a power play for a bit under three minutes.
Cassie Hall has it behind the net, gets it poked
away there by Uriola. Harvey picks it up on the
left side, entering the zone. Out of the box comes

(02:14:08):
Lacey Eden. Can the Badgers keep the zone? Yes they can,
So here we go a power play for about two
and a half Here for the Badgers trying to regain
the lead. Harvey finds Edwards at the point, takes a
shot save made by Cherco.

Speaker 3 (02:14:22):
Ten and a half to go.

Speaker 4 (02:14:23):
Here in the third period, two and a half to
go on the power play, Harvey at the point, Harvey
down low, is tipped in front, rebound is loose. Edwards
circles back, finds Harvey at the left point, shoveled along
to Edwards. Edwards makes a move to the middle, drops
it off for Harvey. Harvey's got space in the left side.
Harvey takes a shot, save made and into the netting

(02:14:46):
tend to go.

Speaker 9 (02:14:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:14:47):
I like she and Harvey putting the puck on net.

Speaker 3 (02:14:49):
Yeah, you know, and we know she can find the
back of the net. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:14:53):
If she doesn't score directly, at least she got a
rebound to work with. Typically, although on that one Kurco
hung on tight for no rebound.

Speaker 3 (02:15:03):
Gorbatenko and Zimmerman on the draw.

Speaker 6 (02:15:06):
So we still got what two oh five on the
power play for.

Speaker 4 (02:15:09):
Us, Still a full power play to go for Wisconsin,
who have the best power play in the w CH.
I can't stress that enough. I know I've said that
a lot, but it's quite impressive. Here's Sims sending that
one down low, looking for Scannal. Couldn't find her little
too far. Here's Murphy left point, Scanneal left corner, sends

(02:15:30):
it behind the goal, Gorbatenko trying to collect it.

Speaker 3 (02:15:33):
She fans on it.

Speaker 4 (02:15:34):
Clearing attempt cut off by Potter. Now here's Scannal, a
shot save made and then wide of the goal. Good
look there for Maggie Scanneal yep, scored the third goal
for the Badgers. Murphy is shot blocked by Zimmerman and
then it's cleared away.

Speaker 3 (02:15:51):
Minute and a half to go. Here on the power play,
nine and a half to go in the game. Here's
Sims taking a shot save made by Cherka.

Speaker 6 (02:15:59):
Yeah, she got a piece, then it went high at.

Speaker 4 (02:16:02):
The point I was Murphy Potter, great pass to fine
Scannal a shot again turned away, ice play, Murphy has
it once more.

Speaker 3 (02:16:10):
Sims. Badgers are itching to take the lead.

Speaker 4 (02:16:13):
Here sims inside to the middle, still with it gets
It's a Potter a shot blocked in front and.

Speaker 3 (02:16:20):
Then cleared away again. Final minute of the power play.

Speaker 6 (02:16:23):
Good one timer by Potter on the off wing.

Speaker 4 (02:16:25):
There, Potter picks it up behind the Badger goal. Chance
for one more attempt here on the power play. Here's
Potter to the net looking for a chance out in front.
Potter gets it right back. Husky's looking at clear. They
get it over Cassie Hall. It goes the length of
the ice. Standing up in the boxes, re strouts who's

(02:16:47):
serving that penalty for Grace Wolf. She's got to be
in there for thirty more seconds. See if the Badgers
can cut that power play short though. Oh, here's Hall
taking a shot blocked in front and another whack at
cleared away. Here's Hard fakes the shot going to the
left side, skating back Edwards up the middle, finds Hall
couldn't control it. Ten seconds remain in the power play.

(02:17:10):
Cassie Hall on the right side, at the top of
the point is Harvey, finds.

Speaker 3 (02:17:15):
Hall back to Harvey. Harvey takes a shot wide to
the goal.

Speaker 4 (02:17:18):
Edwards picks up the rebound out of the box, comes straps,
he goes straight to the bench. Badgers still have the
zone though. Here is Chappie just off her skate and
here we go. A breakaway chance now for Mickellien. She
shoots save by the shutting big save, Eve comes.

Speaker 3 (02:17:33):
Up with it.

Speaker 6 (02:17:35):
Holy cow. One on old breakaway right into the crease.

Speaker 4 (02:17:39):
Mcaeleen came right off the bench and had a breakaway
and she doesn't miss those very often. Here they come again.
The Huskies have it now in the corner at the
point is Peon takes a slap shot blocks back and
she's hurt after that one.

Speaker 3 (02:17:53):
She is hurt.

Speaker 6 (02:17:55):
She's going off and maybe he's staying on for now.

Speaker 4 (02:17:57):
She's hurting though a penalty coming up, and was that
going against MCALLI and I think it was. And the
Badgers are gonna go on the power play, but of
course lazy Eden. It's like a hard one to the hand.

Speaker 2 (02:18:09):
She took a shot there and she is going off
the ice, gonna be seen by Staph the trainer, yep.
And I don't know exactly where it struck her, if
it was the hand or what, but she's in pain.

Speaker 4 (02:18:22):
And man at least, thankfully, out of all of that
the Badgers are heading right back to the power play.
We're gonna take a quick thirty second break. It's a
tough one here, but stay tuned. A lot of hockey
to play.

Speaker 9 (02:18:38):
Reach fulls guy.

Speaker 8 (02:18:41):
At Fields, you're never just a customer.

Speaker 9 (02:18:44):
You're star.

Speaker 8 (02:18:46):
You're celebrated. Every visit is personal.

Speaker 3 (02:18:49):
Got the name your soutar.

Speaker 8 (02:18:52):
You're not like the rest, neither are we. You're a
superstar and at Fields we treat you like one.

Speaker 10 (02:18:58):
Get two point nine nine percent APRF up to seventy
two months on a twenty twenty six volbel XC sixty
at Fields Vovocar's Madison.

Speaker 4 (02:19:13):
Back here inside the Brooks Center, Aiden Michael's Mark Greenhall
with you Badger's three Huskies three. There was a five
minute major in a game misconduct for Grace Wolf for
the Huskies. Then it was an instant penalty going against
Lacey Eden, and on that four on four the Huskies
tied the game. The Badgers couldn't convert on the power play,
and then right after that power play, there was a

(02:19:33):
breakaway chance for the Huskies but Ava mcnatton making the save.
But mckellyan, who had that chance for the Huskies, is
now sitting in the box two minutes for interference. The
Badgers have a big, big power play chance here late
in the third. Here's Harvey at the left point. Takes
a shot tipped in front, and then why do they

(02:19:54):
go all off a cherka? Sims sends that one down low. Yeah,
you got peeking Hoggin on this power play unit. Now
at the point is Kirsten Sims on the right side.
Download to Chapoo Valley Vova. Now to Sims. Sims behind
the goal centering pass looking for Harvey. Gave it away
and luckily Sims was there to at least stop that

(02:20:16):
attack for the Huskies.

Speaker 3 (02:20:17):
That was mounting. They had a would looked to be
a two one zero chance coming up, but Sims got
backed by Sims.

Speaker 4 (02:20:24):
Al most certainly, and she says on the ice, here
here's Caroline Harvey. Oh boy, makes a move, stays on
her feet, stays with the puck, gets it to peak
in Hogin. Who's gonna let it? Run to Shapoo Vallee
Vova at the right point. Shappie takes that one into
the corner, creates some more space, find Sims at the
right circle, going to the corner. Now now finding Harvey

(02:20:46):
at the point across to Edwards. Edwards controls at the
left circle, goes to the middle, find Sims right side,
Sims spinning away from folks. Now across the point to Harvey.
Harvey to Sims up the middle, Sims across the Edwards.
Here's Edwards down low was looking for Harvey, couldn't find her,
and Zimmerman can clear the zone and it went off

(02:21:07):
of it looked like it took a touch off of
a husky.

Speaker 3 (02:21:11):
But here's Harvey. Now the other way is shot wide
of the goal. Good idea, and the Badgers keep the zone.

Speaker 4 (02:21:17):
Here's Harvey, Harvey left point, still with it, find Sim
Sims toe drag shoots save.

Speaker 3 (02:21:26):
Great.

Speaker 4 (02:21:26):
Oh yeah, power play goal and the Badgers take the
lead with five forty one to go in regulations.

Speaker 3 (02:21:34):
That was huge Kelly Gorbatenko.

Speaker 6 (02:21:38):
Oh my goodness, was that ever a big goal?

Speaker 4 (02:21:42):
Huge goal from Kelly, her ninth goal of the season.
Kelly Gorbatenko scores the power play goal. It is four
to three Badgers.

Speaker 3 (02:21:51):
What a goal.

Speaker 6 (02:21:52):
That was so timely.

Speaker 2 (02:21:54):
I mean there was only nineteen seconds left in the
power play and yeah, and uh man, there was some
good puck movement.

Speaker 3 (02:22:00):
We kept it in his own.

Speaker 6 (02:22:02):
But the score on that was just huge.

Speaker 3 (02:22:05):
Boy did they need that one and they got it.

Speaker 6 (02:22:08):
There's still a lot of game left here, yep.

Speaker 3 (02:22:10):
Five and a half to go. Yep.

Speaker 4 (02:22:12):
And the Huskies they're not in, you know, pull the
goaltender territory just yet. But it's not something the Badgers
have had to deal with with the opponent pulling the
goalie hasn't really been that close.

Speaker 2 (02:22:22):
I just want to make sure we don't give them
any odd man rushes, you know what I mean? Here Eden, Yep,
keep that F three back, don't give them any breaks.

Speaker 3 (02:22:34):
And try and stay out of the box here as well. Yeah,
that's huge.

Speaker 4 (02:22:37):
Here's Picard on the right side in the zone, throws
one toward goal, created a rebound and whacked at it
and it went wide to the goal. That was Finley
McCarthy who had a chance out. Yeah, and now chasing
it is Jackal. Jackal gets taken down, crashes into the
boards and Gorbatenko picks it up up ahead for Hall.
Hall being pestered by Moran, who takes it away.

Speaker 3 (02:23:00):
Here's Lebe.

Speaker 6 (02:23:01):
They don't waste any time transitioning and.

Speaker 4 (02:23:03):
Now Jackal in the corner eating back on the ice
for the Badger. So she seems to be okay after black.

Speaker 6 (02:23:10):
I'm glad to see that. I was concerned.

Speaker 3 (02:23:13):
Yeah, me too. I mean until she went down, she
was and she's.

Speaker 6 (02:23:16):
No lightweight, so if she's hurting, she's really hurting.

Speaker 4 (02:23:19):
Another D zone turnover from the Badgers, but luckily for them,
Uriola wasn't able to capitalize. Yeah, the Badger's clear of
the zone. Now here's Zimmerman. Zimmerman moving into the net.
Zimmerman gets taken down, and we got a penalty coming up,
and Venusio slamming her stick on the ground in frustration
as she goes off for a slash.

Speaker 2 (02:23:39):
I don't know if she was frustrated by the call
or frustrated by the fact that.

Speaker 6 (02:23:42):
She realized she had committed a penalty.

Speaker 4 (02:23:45):
And I'm just looking at her now. She is barking
at the referee. She is certainly frustrated at that call. Yeah,
and we'll take a look at the replay. It's tough
to see when you know when a player's going to
the goal with that speed and then gets taken down.
More often than not, they get called for something, whether
it's a whole, the hook, or in that case, of slash.
But yeah, Venusio extremely angry with that with that call.

(02:24:06):
She knows, you know, we were just talking about a greeny.

Speaker 3 (02:24:08):
How the Badgers you can stay out of the box, right,
you know they can't do it? Was it a trip?
Is that what they got? They called the slash? Oh okay,
so I guess you just had a whack at Zimmerman.
And who knows. We didn't get a replay here on
the stream.

Speaker 6 (02:24:21):
But we got to kill this off. Oh yeah, this
is huge. Who we got in the circle.

Speaker 4 (02:24:26):
There, Lacy and Laura Zimmerman taking the draw four to
eleven to go in regulation, Badgers are the four to
three leads. Zimmerman wins the draw, Uriola has it at
the left point, Zimmerman behind the net, now Sorial in
the corner. Sorial goes to Michaelien down to Sorrel in
the corner. Sorial to the circle down behind the net

(02:24:48):
from Michaelien. Now is lamb lamb up the middle. Scored
that goal. In the four on four, McKellen rips.

Speaker 3 (02:24:56):
A shot and they score. Oh Man, and.

Speaker 4 (02:25:02):
It's another goal for Maria McKellen. The Russian scores again.
Seven goals on the season two. Today and ladies and gentlemen,
we are tied once again with three forty six in regulation.

Speaker 2 (02:25:17):
See how that gets h I mean, was there a
tip in front? I just think she don't. I don't
know if she saw the puck meaning aba, you know.

Speaker 7 (02:25:26):
And.

Speaker 3 (02:25:27):
Take a look at it once more.

Speaker 4 (02:25:28):
See if Harvey guy had no one got a touch
on that went right through for McAllen her second goal
of the game, as I said, And it's four to four,
and here we go again. We talked about staying out
of the box. The Badgers couldn't do it. And with
the best penalty kill in the WHA, they couldn't keep
that puck.

Speaker 3 (02:25:46):
Out of the net.

Speaker 4 (02:25:49):
Meanwhile, the power play percentage for the Huskies is just
twelve percent. That one goes on goal, and it's say
by mcnonton, sims is gonna send a little bit of
a cross check Farrell's way, but obviously not too much
because you don't want to.

Speaker 3 (02:26:01):
Get called for anything there, man.

Speaker 4 (02:26:04):
But yeah, I mean, you got a ninety four penalty
kill going up against a twelve percent power play and
they gave one.

Speaker 3 (02:26:11):
They moved the puck, well they do.

Speaker 6 (02:26:13):
They got a nice shot on it. They had traffic
in front of the net.

Speaker 2 (02:26:17):
Zimmerman was was together there with Harvey, so I don't
know how how the visibility was on that, but nonetheless
seat they scored a power play goal.

Speaker 4 (02:26:29):
Now I spoke too soon when I was talking about
pull the goalie territory for the Huskies. Oh, they no
longer have to do that, at least for now. Here
is Scannal at center ice, three fifteen to go in regulation.
Scannal takes a shot wide of the goal. Potter picks
it up in the corner, gets it behind the net.
First Scannal at the point is Picard. We are perhaps
entering next goal, wins territory. Here is Picard pocard to

(02:26:52):
the net, centering passed obvious Gateott.

Speaker 3 (02:26:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:26:54):
She picks up the rebound Edward's right point across the
Potter throws on toward goal wide of the net. Comes
free for Edwards at the point again Edward's left point,
one time from Potter. It's gloved up by Cherka, who
lost possession of it. Had to stick it away. Badgers
keep the zone, Potter down low, Edwards shoot in front.
She didn't shoot it. It was a bad line change

(02:27:16):
for the Huskies. Left Edwards all alone, and Potter sends
that one to the net. It comes free chance out
in front, say by Cherka, but Card had a big chance.
What a way that would have been the season.

Speaker 6 (02:27:28):
I thought she was gonna put that one away.

Speaker 4 (02:27:31):
And here is Sorial gaining the line for the Huskies,
getting tied up there with Gorbatenko, and they're gonna blow
the whistle as it was frozen.

Speaker 6 (02:27:40):
Boy Picard was right there, and yeah, she just couldn't
quite stuff it in.

Speaker 4 (02:27:44):
Man, I'm surprised they blew that one dead there. It
seemed like it was frozen for that long. Your heart
kind of stopped there when you hear the whistle after Gorbatenko,
who took her down.

Speaker 2 (02:27:52):
Yeah, yeah, you don't want to make it any Marginall
calls at this point to put you on the penalty
kill again.

Speaker 3 (02:27:58):
No kidding. All the hands on the yeah, oh no kidding.

Speaker 4 (02:28:02):
The hands on the Husky bench were all up thinking
they were gonna get a penalty. But I think that
was just for theatrical purposes. Turnover from Eden and it
goes all the way down from McNaughton to freeze two
oh seven to go here in regulation four to four,
the Badgers had a demanding five to one victory against
Saint Claud's State last night.

Speaker 3 (02:28:23):
A very different story.

Speaker 6 (02:28:24):
Today, boil boy, I'll tell you this is This is
a barn burger here.

Speaker 3 (02:28:31):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:28:32):
People are sitting on the edge of their seats tonight
or today rather.

Speaker 4 (02:28:37):
And a lot of fans standing up as well. Yeah,
can't bear to sit. Oh boy, I'm near turnover there
in the badger's zone. Badgers have some work to do
to get this one out of the zone. Gorbatenko over
skates it and gets it out of the zone, luckily
for her and geor Batanko's throwing her body around two,

(02:28:57):
which is good, but you gotta be careful.

Speaker 3 (02:28:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:29:00):
Here is Gorbtenko. Now she scored the goal to take
the lead to make it four to three. Here's Gorbutenko
now to Eden out in front to Murphy. Now Gorbutenko
fighting four behind the net. The wrap around opportunity doesn't
get to the goal, Harvey. Gorbtenko now haul at the
right point. Minute twenty five to go in regulation, Murphy

(02:29:23):
rips a shot save by Turka.

Speaker 6 (02:29:26):
Oh man, here we go. I was happy to see
Murphy let that shot goal. Kirko made a good save.

Speaker 4 (02:29:33):
Yep, Badger's forty nine shots on Golder right on the
brink of fifty, Huskies with thirty three. But the only
stat that matters at the end of the day, yeah,
is the four to four we have right now, right yep.
Minute twenty to go in regulation, Huskies win the draw,
they get it out of the zone, Mikaelion touches around,

(02:29:57):
Venusio has it behind the goal right, has set something
up here for Saint Cloud State, skips over the stick
a near turnover there, but it's kept in by the Huskies,
and then Shop he can get it out for En
right across the Sims. Now on the right side, entering
the zone. Final minute of regulation, Shapovolivovoa has it behind

(02:30:18):
the net Venusia at the point Venusio rips a shot,
it's blocked and then turned over. Badgers still have possession though.
Here's enright entering the zone on the right side. Nice
pass in front, taking a shot and sailing wide after
the shot from Chapa Valevova. And now here's Yuriola in

(02:30:40):
the final thirty seconds shots or goal creat to rebound
his shot saved by the none out in front.

Speaker 3 (02:30:46):
What a chance for the Huskies.

Speaker 4 (02:30:49):
Oh my goodness, man, two shots and that would have
been the game winner. Yeah, poking at it as Edwards
keeping it in the Husky zone. Fifteen seconds remain. Is
there time for a winning goal and regulation? Harvey across
the book card It's saved by Turka. She falls down,
Sunderland gets it out of the zone. Harvey will pick

(02:31:10):
it up three seconds ago and we are headed to overtime. Man,
Oh my goodness, I'm out of breath.

Speaker 6 (02:31:20):
Holy cow, I'm telling you this is a game and
a half here.

Speaker 4 (02:31:24):
Huh yeah, it is, my goodness, and we're just gonna
take a quick thirty second break.

Speaker 3 (02:31:30):
Do not go anywhere.

Speaker 4 (02:31:31):
We have overtime hockey coming up here on ten seventy
of the game.

Speaker 15 (02:31:35):

Com and welcome back aiden Michael's Mark Greenhall. Here with you, Greenie.
We are going to overtime for the first time this season.

Speaker 3 (02:32:20):
Yeah we are.

Speaker 2 (02:32:20):
And uh I'm telling you it's uh oh, it's You
couldn't get any closer than this four to four right
down on the buzzer. That actually Saint Cloud had two
whax at it with thirty and twenty eight seconds to go,
respectively in the game and even made the same And
we'll see, uh see what happens here.

Speaker 6 (02:32:39):
We got five minutes of five on five.

Speaker 4 (02:32:42):
And uh yeah, remember last time these two teams went
in overtime, they no one scored, so we went to
a shootout. Yeah, and uh, I mean I'm nervous, are you?
I can't imagine how. I'm sure they're a bit more
composed than we are up.

Speaker 2 (02:32:54):
Here, but my nerves are like piano wires right now.
It's a little more you know, adrenaline and then I
need But.

Speaker 6 (02:33:02):
I tell you what, now, it's just who wants it
the worst? You know, who wants it the most?

Speaker 2 (02:33:07):
Yep, Because both these teams have really put a great
effort and a great display of hockey on out here today.

Speaker 3 (02:33:14):
Indeed, they have to bring us to this four to.

Speaker 6 (02:33:16):
Four tie end of regulation.

Speaker 3 (02:33:18):
So we will switch sides here. The Huskies.

Speaker 4 (02:33:22):
Yeah, we'll be attacking from left to right, Badgers from
right to left.

Speaker 3 (02:33:26):
You've got Sims, Edwards and Harvey the three for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:33:31):
Okay, yeah, three on three, My bad, I should five
on five. I meant three on three, three.

Speaker 3 (02:33:36):
And three very electric.

Speaker 6 (02:33:38):
Yeah, oh yeah, And here we go.

Speaker 3 (02:33:40):
And the fans picked the right game to attend, didn't they.

Speaker 6 (02:33:43):
I'll say they're not going to go away cheated today.

Speaker 7 (02:33:45):
No.

Speaker 4 (02:33:47):
Faral Uriola Sorial for the Huskies, Sims, Edwards, Harvey for
the Badgers. This opening draw is important, and the Huskies
win it. Uriola to sorials back, turns it over here,
Sims now, Sims entering the zone. Sims is gonna take
her time here, holding up. Sims still with it left

(02:34:10):
side into the corner, looking for an option, finds Harvey.
You gotta be very careful to turn over here, because
that could be a two on one.

Speaker 3 (02:34:16):
Oh yeah for the Huskies.

Speaker 2 (02:34:18):
Happens in a hurry when it's three on three. A
nice sheet this large, No, you're kidding. Edwards can't keep
it in.

Speaker 4 (02:34:25):
Luckily, she maintains possession with her long reach and then
gives it away.

Speaker 3 (02:34:31):
Tough break there for Laila Edwards. Yeah, now it's Uriola.

Speaker 4 (02:34:36):
It's a Siol behind the net four fifteen remaining here
in overtime this five minute overtime period. Sorial entering the zone,
stopping up at the right point, gets around Harvey. Sial
gets taken down by Harvey. Can't she get possession back
for the Badgers. She does momentarily, but then it's turned over.

(02:34:56):
Zimmerman chance now for Lamb, takes a shot save McNaughton,
and Lamb, who scored her first career goal a few
minutes ago in regulation, nearly scores her second and the
overtime winner.

Speaker 3 (02:35:08):
Man.

Speaker 2 (02:35:08):
That was a blast from about the well mid to
high slot. Eva squared up, made the save, but don't
want to give them too many of those shots.

Speaker 4 (02:35:19):
Shappy Eden and Potter on the ice for Wisconsin. Badgers
need to win this draw. Here it comes free for them,
and they do. Perhaps it's two on one now for
Wisconsin it's Potter and Eden. Here comes Potter on the
left side. Lady Potter shoots save me rebound.

Speaker 3 (02:35:35):
Badgers need to get back.

Speaker 4 (02:35:36):
It's a two on one now for Saint Cloud State.
Here comes Zimmerman, has mckellyan here she is now takes
a shot and miss the net. And here we come
the other way. Another two on one, this time for
the Badgers. It's Eden Eaton on the left side, down
toward the goal, centering pass and then crashing into the
net is Lady Potter and we will get a whistle.
And perhaps that's a good thing for Wisconsin. Wow, that

(02:35:57):
would have been another break for Saint Clouds State.

Speaker 6 (02:36:00):
Literally back and forth and then the action breakaways. Holy cow,
oh man, three and.

Speaker 4 (02:36:08):
A half to go here in overtime, both teams trading
two on one chances. That's the beauty of three on
three is you get a two on one down the
ice and then you get a two on one the
other side right after that.

Speaker 2 (02:36:18):
And I mean they're, oh, you know, three on three
a lot of open ice to begin with, but then
on this ice sheet to boot, it's just gargantuan out here,
so that you know, the possibilities are endless out here.
They're gonna face it off here to the left of
the goaltender, we got somebody waiting for something here they're.

Speaker 3 (02:36:36):
Time out this time. I don't know, I think, uh,
I'm not sure who's calling the timeout. It might be
US time out. St. Claud State.

Speaker 4 (02:36:46):
Huh, Saint Cloud State takes the time out, so coach
Yellow Suo.

Speaker 2 (02:36:50):
I suppose in that defensive zone face off, they're gonna
make sure they got everybody where they want.

Speaker 3 (02:36:55):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (02:36:56):
But wow, I mean, this is this is why you
love hockey. But this is such a stressful situation. The
Badgers and Huskies, I mean the Huskies in particular, they
need a point here.

Speaker 3 (02:37:07):
They would love that extra point.

Speaker 4 (02:37:08):
They already got one from the regulation tie, but they
would like to get this extra point. They've got three
and a half minutes to do so. The Badger's, on
the other hand, they want to stay at top of
the w c J. They want that extra point as well.

Speaker 2 (02:37:20):
Yeah, so I tell you, it's just, oh my goodness,
this is just uh, it's like who okay, who's gonna
get it?

Speaker 6 (02:37:33):
Who's gonna get it?

Speaker 4 (02:37:34):
You know, someone's got to get it, whether it's in
the overtime, we're in the shootout period, someone's gonna find
the back.

Speaker 6 (02:37:38):
Of the ends.

Speaker 3 (02:37:40):
Question is who there is room for one more goal.

Speaker 2 (02:37:44):
So we've got We've got Leyla Edwards, Sims, and I
think Harvey out here.

Speaker 3 (02:37:50):
So the same three that started the overtime period.

Speaker 6 (02:37:53):
And listen their first three, I believe.

Speaker 4 (02:37:57):
So you've got Sims and Sundoling on the draw. Sims
wins it out to Harvey. Harvey falls down, loses possession
of the puck. Sim's trying to get it right back,
doing a good job keeping it in the zone.

Speaker 6 (02:38:09):
Oh, a nice effort by Harvey to keep it in
and get possession.

Speaker 3 (02:38:11):
Here's Harvey up the middle.

Speaker 4 (02:38:14):
Harvey drops it back for Edwards's the dangerous once he
gives it away and it's a breakaway now for Alice Srial.

Speaker 3 (02:38:20):
She's looking to win the game.

Speaker 4 (02:38:22):
She moves in, say by McNaughton, and the rebound is cleared. Man,
Oh my goodness, what a turnover. And she was all
alone at a to win the game, could not do it.
Ava McNaughton showing why she is one of the best
in the business. Here is Caroline Harvey now entering the

(02:38:44):
zone on the left side for Wisconsin Harvey and it's
out of the zone. Good touch there from Ferrell, brought
back in by Harvey. But she's off side. She would
have had a decent look on goal there. Grainy with
two and a half to go overtime.

Speaker 2 (02:39:01):
Yeah, that's too bad. She just must have proceeded the
puck slightly across the blue line there. So they're gonna
face it off in the neutral zone.

Speaker 4 (02:39:08):
I think yep, face off at center ice shopavli Vova
taking the draw.

Speaker 3 (02:39:14):
You've got Lady Potter and Lacy Eden.

Speaker 4 (02:39:17):
That second overtime unit back out for Wisconsin. Two and
a half to go here in overtime four to four,
Huskies have it. After the draw, Sydney Lamb on the
right side, entering the zone, throws it to the middle.
Zimmerman makes a move toward goal, gets picked up by Potter.

(02:39:39):
Odd player rush now for the Badgers. Here comes Eden
eating with it behind the net, looking for an option
out in front.

Speaker 3 (02:39:46):
Here's Eden. Find Shappy gets it right back to Eden.

Speaker 4 (02:39:50):
Eden left side got it poked away by Michael In,
but stays with the puck, eating into the corner. Find Shappy.
It went over her stick, but she keeps possession for
the moment.

Speaker 3 (02:40:01):
In a tight area.

Speaker 4 (02:40:02):
Here he's shopping now two on one chance, shoppy down
low pass across Sydney Lamb got a stick on it
and Potter picks it up. Badger's still with it. Potter
drops it off for Eden, chasing it down behind the goal.
Is Eden shoppy trying to keep it in, takes a
lucky bounce and sank cloud State and they can go
for a change, and luckily the Badgers can too. Lady

(02:40:22):
Potter can't quite she'll rush for the change. Now on
the ice comes Ava Murphy. So we've got the first
look of this third unit with Cassie Hall, Claire enright
and Ava Murphy. Here is Alice Sail on the right side.
Had that breakaway a few seconds ago chance that was
gobbled up by mcnonton. At the point as farrell is
shot save rebound goes wide to the goal, Murphy gets

(02:40:45):
taken down. She is hurt and we're gonna stop the
play here and another injury coming. Ava Murphy, who missed,
oh boy, that last game against Minnesota, returned to the lineup.

Speaker 3 (02:40:57):
Last night and she's down and they blew.

Speaker 2 (02:40:58):
The Whistle's remaining on the ice and not moving at all, really,
at least her upper body is not moving. She's in pain,
and clearly I don't know what it is that she's injured,
but the trainer, Steph Aren't is out there attending to
her in the slot. Here, boy, with a minute eight

(02:41:21):
the goal. You know, you hate to see anybody get
hurting in it. It can't be real good.

Speaker 4 (02:41:26):
Here, she's not even up on her feet yet, and
it looks like it could be she holding her arm.
Maybe a shoulder, I mean it looks like an upper body.

Speaker 3 (02:41:33):
Yeah, either a shoulder or arm. Yeah, she's setting up now,
boiled boy, she is a break. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:41:42):
And again we don't know why she was out in
the out of the lineup against Minnesota two weekends ago,
but she obviously got that break with the bye week.
We returned to practice, played last night, and of course
in the overtime period she gets hurt and she's being
wheeled off by her teammates Claire and Cassie.

Speaker 3 (02:42:01):
Yeah, it's a tough end of the night for Ava there.

Speaker 2 (02:42:04):
Oh man, I hope she's all right, you know, I
don't know the severity of it obviously at this point.

Speaker 3 (02:42:11):
And oh man, well now they must try and win
for Murphy.

Speaker 2 (02:42:19):
Yeah, they're gonna face it off here to the left
of Ava in our own defensive zone.

Speaker 3 (02:42:23):
With a minute eight to goal.

Speaker 4 (02:42:25):
Eden, Sims and Harvey the three four Wisconsin, sixty eight
seconds remain here in the overtime period.

Speaker 3 (02:42:34):
Is there time for a winning goal? Here's Caroline Harvey
on side.

Speaker 4 (02:42:39):
Caroline Harvey moving in, stops up, takes the shot deflected.

Speaker 3 (02:42:42):
Out of play off the stick of Uriola.

Speaker 4 (02:42:44):
Yeah, we gotta face off in the Husky zone with
fifty five point seven to go.

Speaker 2 (02:42:50):
Oh man, Yeah, Uriola stepped up and defended h Harvey
pretty well there and cause that shot go up and
out of the rink.

Speaker 4 (02:43:02):
Eden on the draw with Sofiana Sunderland. Eden wins the draw.
Harvey has it at the point across the Sims Sims
tow drag shot save made by Cherko. Rebound is loose,
picked up by Eden. Eden at the circle to Harvey,
drops it off for Sims. Sims up the middle making

(02:43:22):
a move. Sims spinning away at the left circle, has
up the middle again, Sims still with it, spins away
at the right circle, Sims to the right side, still
with possession, can't find a badger. Then goes to Eden.
A tough one for Eden to control, but she does so.
Eden drops it off for Harvey, Harvey at the point

(02:43:44):
up the middle. Sixteen seconds remain in overtime. Caroline Harvey
touches it around Uriel. Now here's Eden throws it toward gold.
Rebound is loose, coming out is the goaltender and a
near breakaway chance for Marreela two on one. If they
can hurry, Sunderland's gonna get there. A great play from
Eden and we are headed to the shootout.

Speaker 6 (02:44:05):
Game saving backcheck by Eden Er.

Speaker 3 (02:44:08):
Yeah wow.

Speaker 4 (02:44:09):
And just so we don't waste any time, We're gonna
take our final quick thirty second break.

Speaker 3 (02:44:13):
Don't go anywhere at Groober Lofses.

Speaker 16 (02:44:16):
We take a great pride in helping those who have
trusted us after a serious accident. Our team has the knowledge,
resources and experience to get you the results you deserve.

Speaker 3 (02:44:27):
Don't wait to get the help you need. Make the
right call call.

Speaker 16 (02:44:31):
Gruber Lofts is today proud partner of your Milwaukee Bucks.

Speaker 3 (02:44:37):
One call. That's all.

Speaker 1 (02:44:42):
This is ten to seventy the game.

Speaker 3 (02:44:49):
And welcome back.

Speaker 4 (02:44:50):
We are here inside the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center
in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. The Badgers and the Huskies are
tied at four. We just had an electric overtime period
with no goal, which means we are headed to a
shootout for that extra point in the WHA standings. Similar
story to last year. Is a two to two tie
and they went to the shootout. The Badgers won it.
We'll see what they can do here in the shootout.

Speaker 6 (02:45:12):
Man, Yeah, Huda, you know, it's just anybody's guests.

Speaker 3 (02:45:19):
Man. Yeah, it could go either way.

Speaker 6 (02:45:20):
Now, there were breakaways and little everything there.

Speaker 4 (02:45:26):
And we approach the final forty five seconds of this
break between the overtime period and the shootout period, something
we have not seen this season so far, and uh, well,
this is gonna be.

Speaker 3 (02:45:40):
A scary one.

Speaker 4 (02:45:40):
And might I add this was the last overtime or
the first overtime period we've seen the Badgers play since
the National Championship winning game against Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (02:45:50):
That's right, obviously that was five on five. But here
we go.

Speaker 4 (02:45:55):
Ava McNaughton skating inside of her crease. Yeah, Amelia, who
did not play last night, has played phenomenally today is
already sitting in hers and we will await and see
who the shooter is for either team.

Speaker 2 (02:46:13):
Yeah, when you figure Kurko has made what fifty two
saves today? Already unreal before the shootout starts. Okay, so
there we go.

Speaker 4 (02:46:24):
Starting off are the Huskies in the shootout? My Lee Peon,
the defender from Quebec beginning the shootout. Here here comes
Peon taking it in on the left side, moving in
on goal. Make the move, say by mc naughton. Not

(02:46:47):
a bad start for Wisconsin and not doing well in
those breakaways. And Adela Shapov to take the first shootout
attempt for Wisconsin, the first shootout attempt of course of.

Speaker 3 (02:46:59):
Her college career. Oh man, this is this is this
is quite something.

Speaker 2 (02:47:08):
Tell you what, man, it's just enough excitement here, that's
for sure. Oh yeah, see what Shappy does with it.

Speaker 4 (02:47:14):
So here we go at Della chap moving in, makes
a move to the forehand to night at once by Amelia.

Speaker 6 (02:47:20):
Jerka deaked all the way in and uh couldn't get
Kiko to bite.

Speaker 4 (02:47:28):
Yeah she made a decent move, but it was read
all the way along. And now here we go again
for the Huskies. It's Sydney Bryant. They decided to go
defender defender one and two. Here's Brian a shot Pat
Shave McNaughton. BIG's going too and the Badgers have a
big chance take get on the board here in the

(02:47:48):
shootout and Badger fans, if you want to, if this
invokes any memory for you, Kirsten Simms is getting ready
to take this shootout shot. Remember what happened in the
National Championshi game on her penalty shot with eighteen seconds
to go, tying it and then storing the overtime goal.

Speaker 3 (02:48:06):
Here is Sims moving in to the forehand, no goal.

Speaker 4 (02:48:09):
Nope, Sims tried that same move she tried yeah in
the National Championship game, didn't she and it was saved by.

Speaker 2 (02:48:17):
Yeah, Karelia would not bite on that one and kept
that left pad end extended for the same.

Speaker 3 (02:48:24):
And here we go.

Speaker 4 (02:48:25):
Funny enough, they've gone with a third straight defender, Siri
Uriola moving in on and takes a shot wide to
the goal and the Badgers, if I'm not mistaken, Green,
you have a chance to win it here.

Speaker 3 (02:48:37):
Yes, that's correct, And who's it going to be? Lacey Eden?

Speaker 2 (02:48:42):
All right, let's see what Eden can do here with it.
If you can get us a point here in the standings.

Speaker 3 (02:48:50):
So here we go.

Speaker 4 (02:48:52):
Lazy Eden takes it in slowly on the right side,
has a chance to win the game for the Badgers.

Speaker 3 (02:48:58):
Here comes Eden.

Speaker 4 (02:48:59):
She shoots why the goal and we play on no
goals in the opening shootout frames and let's see. I
assume we're not going to see a defender come out
now for the Huskies, and we're gonna see Maria mikay Allen.

Speaker 3 (02:49:14):
Now she has two goals today.

Speaker 4 (02:49:16):
She had that breakaway chance earlier in the third period,
could not score. Here she is now moving on in
why to the goal, and the Badgers again have a
chance to win it, and it's gonna be Leila Edwards.

Speaker 3 (02:49:30):
Okay, here we go.

Speaker 6 (02:49:31):
We can capitalize in this opportunity.

Speaker 4 (02:49:40):
Here we go a chance, come on, a chance to
win the game for the Badgers. Layla Edwards moves on
in and she loses the pup. She doesn't get a
shot off and she's frustrated with herself.

Speaker 6 (02:49:52):
There rules right off her stick and the.

Speaker 4 (02:49:54):
Badgers could not capitalize on their second opportunity to win
the game.

Speaker 3 (02:49:59):
And now here we go. What a story this would be.

Speaker 4 (02:50:02):
The Wisconsin native Peyton Holloway to take the next shot
for Saint Cloud State here on the shootout, moving on
in takes a shot, she scores, and the Badgers must
score or it is over.

Speaker 2 (02:50:19):
Wow, healing from Toma, Wisconsin. You get a nice wrist
shot to score a goal. There, the only one so
far to shootout. We'll see what scandal can do.

Speaker 3 (02:50:31):
Maggie Scannal has no choice but to score.

Speaker 1 (02:50:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:50:36):
If she does not score, the game is over. Here
comes Scannal, moving on in, she scores. Yeah, Scannal keeps
it alive for the Badgers.

Speaker 3 (02:50:44):
What a great effort by her.

Speaker 17 (02:50:46):
Hi.

Speaker 2 (02:50:46):
Yeah, just a clutch performance on that shot, just inside
the pipe on the glove side for a score.

Speaker 3 (02:50:56):
Nice job. And now is Julianne Lebay.

Speaker 4 (02:51:01):
To take the next shot for the Huskies, taking a
wide approach, moving on in.

Speaker 3 (02:51:05):
Save by McNaughton. Nice save.

Speaker 4 (02:51:09):
And now it is Captain Caroline Harvey for a chance
to end this game.

Speaker 3 (02:51:16):
Oh my goodness, Oh is right?

Speaker 6 (02:51:19):
Geez, it's unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (02:51:21):
Here Caroline Harvey a chance to send us home here
in Saint Cloud.

Speaker 3 (02:51:28):
Harvey moves in, takes a shot. What a save by Kirka. Wow,
and we will continue.

Speaker 4 (02:51:38):
The Badgers are just mirroring what the Huskies are doing
here in the shootout. If they miss, they miss. Yeah,
the Husky score. The Badgers score. Here comes Sidney Jackal
now a native of ann Arbor, Michigan. Jackal moving on
in missus the net and the Badgers again have a
chance to win the game.

Speaker 3 (02:51:58):
And who's it gonna be? Who we got at? Lanie Potter?

Speaker 6 (02:52:03):
I think so here we go, oh boy.

Speaker 4 (02:52:07):
The native of Los Angeles, California, Laney Potter, no is
she I thought she was born in la.

Speaker 6 (02:52:14):
Oh Okay, Pennsylvania. That's where she resides.

Speaker 4 (02:52:16):
Here comes Potter to win the game, and she does
wins it, Lady Potter.

Speaker 3 (02:52:21):
Let's go home. Badgers pick up the extra point in
the shootout, and.

Speaker 2 (02:52:26):
It took seven shooters on each team to reach a
conclusive victory or you know what I mean on the
shootout anyway, And I tell you what, this has been
enough excitement for me. Aiden, It's been a great weekend
whether you hear great Herb Brooks Arena and on Wisconsin
on Wisconsin.

Speaker 4 (02:52:42):

And Welcome to our postgame show presented by Smart Motors,
Toyota Aiden.

Speaker 3 (02:54:07):
Michael's here with you what a ride this has been.

Speaker 4 (02:54:10):
The Badgers had a dominating five to one victory last
night here at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, but
they were unable to pick up a win per se
in today's game. They ended as in a four to
four tie against the Huskies, but they picked up the
needed extra.

Speaker 3 (02:54:25):
Point in the shootout. What an ending here.

Speaker 4 (02:54:28):
It was an incredible overtime period as well, just back
and forth two on one after two on one, you
thought any team could win the game. Then you get
to the shootout. First three shooters for each team misses.
Then Peyton Holloway comes in for Saint Cloud State and scores.
Badgers need to score to keep it alive, and they
do thanks to Maggie Scannal and then a couple of
shooters later a miss for the Huskies, and then to

(02:54:48):
win the shootout was Laney Potter who got the job done.

Speaker 3 (02:54:53):
What an ending that was.

Speaker 4 (02:54:54):
Those were the final stats presented by Jay and K Security.
Want to thank everybody for tuning in to the broadcast
this weekend. The Badgers going home happy. As for Mark Greenhall,

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
