This is Matt Lepey. We welcome you to Wisconsin Basketball.
We welcome you to the beginning of the college basketball season.
This opening night batch up as the Badgers taking on
Campbell University out of the Coastal Athletic Association. And before

we get started, let's paust ten seconds for station identification.
Ten for an ID. This is Badger Basketball from Larry Field.
So all the spring weight room work, the summer session,
training camp, and now it finally begins. Brian Butch, they
had the exhibition games against Oklahoma and Platteville. But as
a great guard mention, this is what you do all

for many you know, the road to the Final four
and getting the march madness. But I know, as you
like to say, if you follow all along, you can
be really entertained as well. And I just have the
feeling that this team, and I'm sure every team in
the league is saying the same thing, but this was
conson team could be a lot of fun for fans
to watch.

College basketball always delivers. You just gotta pay attention to go.
I gotta get it in, all right, I gotta get
it in. But this team could be a lot of fun. Now,
there's a lot of things ahead of them that they
still have to figure out. There's gonna be ups and
downs throughout the season. But this is the first. This
is the first. This is the first time that these

guys get to play. These are the first time that
this team gets to play in front of this fans.
They get to write their story.

It was always something that I enjoyed knowing that a
new year means a new story is written and we're
in charge of it. As players, they're in charge this group.
This is their moment to put their stamp on this program,
on the history of Wisconsin basketball like that is such
a special thing.

And trying to get everything to work, get the pieces
in place, there's more of a challenge now in the
era of the transfer. But basketball is still basketball. And
but you even in the other teams you were on,
including a you know, a Big Ten championship team, a
Sweet sixteen team with a lot of guys back. How
long did it take even if you brought so many
guys back, do you really feel like, Okay, now we

know who we are and let's go.

It's late December where you really feel, you know, comfortable
in what you are. And I mean, there's a game
and you know, we go to Texas and Michael Flowers
and seem like that's okay, we knew who we were
starting to become. There's gonna be a lot of ups
and downs. There's gonna be lots of changes. You don't
know what's gonna happen, whether it's an injury, whether it's
something like but you just prepare, and you prepare, and

this is the first step in the preparation. This is
the first step in what you need to do. You
should not be the best basketball team that you are
November three.

Yes, that's not what you should be right now.

Now You've got to continue to get better and you
have to realize you can't skip steps. You can't skip them.
You got it every day put in the work. This
is the next day. This is the next opportunity in

Had he thrown you the ball, you had to hit

finally sets it because right now these guys think they're good,

basketball is underway. Badgers moved to our left of the
first half, Andrew Roady bobs off the high screen from

the former UW Green Bay Phoenix player. Here's Roady starts
