Badger's Robin Pinchton. Coach, You've had a lot of first games,
but new school do program all these new players.

Feelings as you get ready for game one?

Yeah, just really excited.

Speaker 16 (05:01):
I mean, we we know that we've got a lot
of work to do this year, but it's been a
pretty incredible group of young ladies that you know, starting
back in June, have really leaned in and have really
come together. They've worked really hard, and you know, I
think early in the season, you get those first game jitters,
you know, under your belt a little bit, but really
excited for them. They've worked hard for the opportunity, and

we're excited the season is finally here.

I know that you've talked about you want the fans
to embrace this team. They're so hungry for a winner
on the women's basketball side, But there also is a
lot of work to do. How do you balance with
your players wanting to go out expecting to win every game,
but also embracing the grind and knowing there's going to
be natural ups and downs.

Yeah, you know, for us, it's really about the process.
And that's not just Cloche. I mean we talk about
it every day. We talked about, you know, we've got
to win shoot around today and so first things first,
and you've just got to really be intentional about stacking
the days and trusting the outcome will take care of itself.
But you know how we show up every day, our focus,
our work ethic, our you know, commitment, our ability to

lean into each other and understand interdependence in each other's
strengths and just trust that the outcome.

team for you look like when they're doing what they
want to do? What does it look like offensively and defensively?

Yeah, we want to play up tempo for sure. We
want to push and transition and flow naturally into our
motion offense.

We want to be a really.

Gritty team, first to the floor, really connected. You know,
alignment was a big part of what we did this
off season is just having an alignment in that locker
room of you know, what we're trying to get done
and where we're trying to go, and so understanding that
everything impacts everything and how you do anything is how
you do everything. But for right now, just the connectivity

and really leaning into each other, playing really scrappy, really
connected on the core with our communication and how hard
we play. That's that.

a take on Oakland, Let's get a scout of Oakland
and we get a chance to visit with the associate
head coach, and that is Chris Bracy coach. I want
to ask you a question just first off, when you're
thinking about scouting, especially so early in the season where
there's not a lot of film, you've got Monday's game.
When you look at Oakland for this season, there's all
these transfer players that teams bring in. Are you watching

players from last year maybe on other teams a part
of different programs. Are you just narrowing in on Monday's game?
How are you approaching the scout?

Speaker 26 (10:45):
Yeah, a lot of it is. You know, you want
to keep it pretty simple.

Speaker 27 (10:49):
Especially early early on because of everything you just said.
You don't want to overload them with information and then
it'd be kind of like opposite of what they're expect.
So you do lean on previous years for those who
are you know, sophomores and older, and you kind of

try to come up with their tendencies. But you know,
as we know, there's an off season there between that
last season, so things can change.

So again, like all the information.

That we provide them, we provide them with the caveat
of like don't be caught off guard if this player
you know, doesn't necessarily play the tendency we're.

Speaker 26 (11:30):
Telling you to or don't get off caught off.

Guard if you know they're not running an action that
you know we're telling you they might run.

Speaker 26 (11:39):
So we try to give them some baseline information but.

Speaker 27 (11:42):
Keep it really really general going especially early in these
first games, and then as we get further along, we
can be a little bit more, you know, have a
little bit more certainty of what we can expect.

Well, let's talk about the Oakland Golden Grizzly specifically offenseively
and defensively. What stands out to you?

Speaker 27 (12:03):
So offensively, the first thing that stands out is they
like to play fast and again this is from a
very small sample size against them playing Cleary University, but
getting out in transition, want to get up shots early.
They can looks like they can stretch the floor a
little bit, shoot the shoot the three ball, have a
balanced attack in.

Speaker 26 (12:25):
Terms of getting the ball inside and out.

Speaker 27 (12:28):
It seems like they want to pressure you up a
little bit and play aggressive on the ball and in
the passing lanes. You know, it seems like they want
to full court press at times on off of free
throws and sometimes off of made baskets.

But from from what I know of the new coach.

You know, that's kind of been her identity in the past,
to play aggressive defensively, and that's that's what we saw
a little bit on Monday versus Cleary.

the Badger notebook and when it comes to the Badger's
new head coach, Robin Pinchton, a lot of experience, thirty
one years as a head coach, fifteen of the last
seasons at Missouri. Her overall record five hundred and eighty
five wins to three hundred and seventy five losses, so
very impressive. Let's talk about a couple of players that
are back this year. Lily Kran she did not score

a three pointer or a couple seasons ago. Last year
hit thirty six triples thirty seven percent shooting from beyond
the arc that ranked among the team's leaders from long range.
We expect her to come off the bench and provide
that spark from deep and then Ronnie Porter, see your

games she played in last season, average eight and a
half points a game, almost four rebounds of contests over

player that people are excited to see back. And then
there are a lot of these new players to a
lot of international experience that we'll talk to about as

looks like Ronnie Porter is gonna come off of the bench.
And it's very similar when it comes to Oakland. They've
got a lot of transfer players too. They're going to
try a three ball right side and they splash that.
That is Felipa Goula out of grease in Wisconsin down
