To honor the men and women who have served?

So thank you for all you've done for our country
and Houston kind of coming together to recognize our veterans
like we always do. There's events ranging from the parade,
a bunch of community festivals. I see a Veteran resource
fair today. That downtown Houston parade, if you are in
the downtown area, starts with the ceremony this morning at
ten am. The parade actually kicks off at eleven thirty.

It's Dallas and Bagbee is where it kicks off. If
you've been to a parade downtown, you kind of know
the way it goes through the streets of downtown.

How did they do for that? Because my kid's got school.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
I know, I wonder if some don't, okay, or maybe
they go on a fieldres.

I don't know.

My kid's got it's a regular school day for her.

I also see the list of tons of our favorite
businesses that are offering specials for veterans today, and even
not a veteran myself. I like looking at that list
just to see who supports our veterans, because I want
to support them right, fullest events, deals, everything in honor
of Veterans Day up on the world famous Rodgrand Show

The Senate approved the funding package portion last night. That
is progress and ending the government shutdown. It's moving Congress
closer to the end. The final bill does extend government
funding through January twenty six, includes three full year funding
bills for different federal agencies and programs, and good news,
it also brings back federal workers who were laid off

(03:54):
during the shutdown, so that's all good. Still leads to
pass the House and be signed by the President, but
House members are told to come back to Washington. The
vote could start as early as four pm tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
All I do in the morning is watch our roadways, right,
traffic all morning long. I mean, it's on the news
right now, there's a car fire.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
So when I saw this study, none of us are
going to be surprised to see that morning rush hour
makes people insane, like crazy. The study looked at the
habits of drivers when they're behind the wheel and starting
at eight twenty seven am, which seemed a little late
to me, and when drivers are alone in the car
the highest times were likely to break the law when driving.

So do you think eight twenty seven seems a little late?

Don't people have to beat the office like by eight
even earlier, like if you want to avoid late traffic.

I would have thought it was earlier.

The biggest offense is speeding, no shocker there, and the
second highest time that people are out there breaking the
law is seven point fifteen PM, which again seemed.

I'd like to see this study specifically done for the
Houston area because I feel like we're just next.

Level when it comes to this stuff. Commutes are dangerous

In a new interview, this guy comes out and says
he recently got the rights to all of his writing
back from Disney, and so he's got some new projects
in the works, and one of them is a Jessica
Rabbit movie.

the first time, we're doing a Halloween party called buzz Oween,
and it is Three Days Grace, I Prevail and the
Funeral Portrait. It's going to be on October twenty fifth
Woodland's Pavilion next year. Tickets will go on sale this Friday.

This is going to be a part of a huge
tour on Three Days Grace. Finally we are in that number.
I just went to the Three Days Grace dot com

up for things a little early. I cannot believe how
busy this band is. So their next gig is in Budapest,

then they go to Prague, then they go to Hamburg, Berlin.
So they're playing all of November. They're playing all of December, Paris, France,
back to Belgium, Manchester. It looks like they're taking January

unbelievable how much this band is playing live, and we're
very lucky to have them coming here to Houston. We're

top ten cities for veterans. Number one on the list Austin, Texas. Wow,
they say, with just so many jobs coming in in
so many businesses wanting to be there in Austin, that

Fort Worth also in the top ten. When it comes
to Texas worst cities.

me a picture. He's an absolute machine. He's like, here,
I am twenty one years old old, second tour of
Iraq Seer five, so he's double celebrating Marines yesterday and
then Veterans Day today. I bet you were around the

same age. That's him at twenty one. He's a unit.
He's a machine. I never served. There was a time
around ninth grade I had some older friends that were
going in and I just thought, that's what you do.

I wasn't going to be a college boy, and that
wasn't my thing. You know, I knew I was. I
knew at that point my life. I just thought, I'm
swinging a hammer, you know, I'm going to get into
the family business of working in a factory, you know.

do all of that. But then, you know, even talking
to the recruiters are like they'll take any interest you
have in life, Yes, any interest at all. If you

like crocheting, you can be on the crochet team for
the moment for the Marines. So obviously they were trying
to entice me with the military band, you know, to
get into that, like, oh you played drums, Hey, have
we got something for you? Exactly you mean a drummer boy.
Those recruiters, Those recruiters, man, what they do. I dealt

with them a little bit, you know, I kind of
because they they couldn't. They wanted to groove you early.
They're like, if you're in ninth grade, you have an interest, Okay,
we're going to keep in contact with you all the
way through high school. We're going to get you. I'm
going to get you eventually to sign this piece of paper.
You know, my sister worked in the recruiting office as
a temp one time, huh, and she would take the

calls and these guys. But you told me there's gonna
be ac I'm sweating my ass off over here in
Paris Island, blah blah. You lied. My sister worked in
the office of the recruiters. But I'm thinking that, you know,
think about that time frame and this this kind of

does go through my mind. I mean, the Gulf War
was nineteen ninety. If I would have signed a four
year deal, I would have gotten out of school in
eighty seven. I would have been in there. That's that
would have been me. You know, I don't know what
you hope for. I think when you hope, when you
sign up like, man, I hope you don't see any action.
I hope you don't get into trouble in the you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
