(00:00):
Good morning, Ni. Hi.How are you today, by the way,
and where are you calling me from. We're in Los Angeles, California.
How's your weather there today? It'sso nice. I think it's what's
going to be seventy five. Definitelya little jealous, although it's really beautiful
here in Connecticut. Stay all right, ladies, two moms and I might
tell us about all the exciting stuffcoming our way this weekend and celebrating Mother's

(00:21):
Day with two moms. Yeah,So we created this stand up comedy special
called Two Moms, One Mike. It's a half hour comedy special. Selena
and I each do fifteen minutes. So we talk about having our babies,
we talk about married life, andwe talk about just what we're going through
in everyday life, you know, motherhood. If you don't laugh, I

(00:43):
think it could become overwhelming. Sowhose idea? Whose brain child was this?
Yeah? It was actually my idea. I was pregnant at the time.
I was nauseous like every day fornine months of my pregnancy, and
you know, my husband was tryingto help console me but doing the best
job. But Selena had been throughit, and she kept checking in on
me and asked me how I wasdoing, and I would let her know,

(01:07):
and we just kept making each otherlaugh about having a child, and
we ended up writing material and thenI said, let's fillness and make a
common special and call it two Moms, one mic hilarious. Selena, what's
your story? Yeah? No,So basically I had been doing stand up
for a bit and I was doingsome shows with Kayla. This is before
the pandemic, and so we kindof met through there and then eventually,

(01:34):
you know, the pandemic happened.Everything shut down. I had my baby,
and then Kayla got pregnant and Iwas checking in on her and when
she asked me if I wanted todo this special, I thought, yeah,
this sounds amazing. This is exactlywhat I would want to do.
I feel like motherhood is hilarious andthere's nothing more relatable than laughing about what

(01:56):
it's like to be a mom.So I was super excit. I did
about the idea, and we actuallywould call each other every week. We
were doing like five shows a week. We were checking in with each other
on jokes and coming through each other'sshows. It was a very intense process
actually, but we refine a lotof things and I think we made something

(02:21):
really great that I'm really excited aboutto share with everybody. Two moms,
one Mike. You can catch itprime video. You can even catch it
prime video direct starting on Oh that'sso so ironic Mother's Day. We're did
you plan it like that? Butit's being released Mother's Day something special for
mom. So treat mom right allday on Sunday and then and the night

(02:44):
with a laugh. Now, arewe going to be seeing some of your
traditional, you know, material thatyou both have done personally, but all
real life relatable to our mothers forthis weekend. Yeah, I mean I'm
doing a lot of material. Wedo a lot of material about our babies
and like everything that happened to usin real life. And I'm also talking

(03:05):
about our husbands and and then wealso talk about some stories, some jokes
that we had workshops that had nothingto do with having a child. And
so that's why I think this specialwill also be really relatable for men and
single women and single men. Ithink it really is a special for everyone.
Yeah, you know, let meask you this because I am I

(03:25):
am a dog mom. Okay,so I do not have human children.
I am I am a dog mom. But I often wonder because we you
know, this weekend with Mother's Day, and you know, try to be
sensitive to all moms out there.Moms we've lost people who have been like
a mother to us or people youknow in my position where you know,
I don't have children and that's notgoing to be in my future. But

(03:46):
I oftentimes wonder if the best giftto give mom is to make her forget
that she's a mom and do justhave a weekend not talking about any mom
stuff. So when you just saidthat, that inspired that because I know
it's called two Moms and Mike obviously, but do you like just for a
little while, even if it's foran hour, like to forget about the
mom stuff. Yeah, well, you know, my brothers are actually coming

(04:09):
over for Mother's Day, and myparents are coming over. My brothers are
coming over, and I thought, maybe I'll just pull my mom aside and
we'll just go for a walk andthen my brothers can watch the baby,
my husband can watch the baby.So yeah, having two hours of a
lone time is also nice and neededand fun and so now and I think

(04:30):
laughing too is so yeah, youknow, through all of it, Well,
that's so, Actually, tell mea little bit about that laughter,
Selena. Tell me about how importantthat is, because I would imagine there
are days and times when I likeif you didn't laugh. I know,
I just spoke about the moments ago, but how important is this part of
your life for both of you?Selena, start with you and then and

(04:53):
then of course Kay, theyll goto you. But you know, tell
me a little bit about what laughtermeans. Well, I think to me,
I think gets you know, andeverything right. But I think,
especially when you're a mom, there'sso many things that can worry you or
can stress you out or I meanyou're literally it's like your heart is walking
outside of your body and you haveno control over what it's going to do,

(05:15):
you know, and that could bereally exhausting if you don't find the
moment to like, you know, lower the tension and laugh and figure that
things are not so serious. AndI think even a lot of times when
your kids do things that are thingsthey shouldn't be doing, a lot of
times they're funny, you know, and I think it's okay to laugh,
and it's okay to know that youknow they're going to be better, they're

(05:39):
working it out. A lot ofthings they're not doing to bother you,
they're doing because they're in discovery.Like my child right now is almost three,
and he loves doing experiments. He'sin this big phase where he wears
an experiment jacket and everything's an experimentto him. So he will literally take
anything and without of a can putit into something else and mix it with

(06:02):
something else, and it's you know, disgusting. I mean, it's like
the growthest thing you'll ever see.But it's also like his brain is just
you know, firing on all cylinders. Then you have to be able to
laugh because if not, I think, uh, then you don't enjoy everything
as much. So I think laughteris everything. Yeah, I think laughter

(06:24):
is so important. Like Selena saying, I mean, you're constantly anxious as
a mom, and I think ingeneral we're all anxious people. So you
have to find the funny in everyaspect of your life. I mean,
my daughter right now only says dada, but she calls everyone data like like
dada, and I'm like, youknow, that's the barista. Like see

(06:44):
every she's calling everyone dada. Itonly calls for mama when she's like crying
and wants out of her crib likethen it is mama, But everything is
data and it's hilarious and you justhave to fund the funny and everything.
And two moms in one mike obviouslya tribute to the podcast as well.
So people can follow you and getinspired by you, or laugh and cry

(07:06):
with you, or be anxiety riddenwith you anytime they want to. So
please us shout out your social messagingand where we can find you. Yeah,
so mine is at Selena Ringel sE l I m A r I
n g E L. And likeyou said, we do have a podcast

(07:27):
too for anyone who's interested on howwe put this all together. We have
a podcast that's out on YouTube, and we will also be pre releasing this
comedy special on YouTube on Friday ifanybody wants to watch it earlier than Mother's
say. Oh, hey, Idid not have that in my notes.
You just dropped a little something forme, thank you. Well, yeah,

(07:48):
you just put in two moms onemic into YouTube and will come it
up on noon on Friday. Ladies, I'm going to put links to everything
about the both of you. Iyou know, I have to be honest.
I didn't know much about you beforeI got the proposed, you know,
the request to do this interview, and then I saw it just the

(08:09):
name alone. I'm like, ohmy gosh, this is great. It's
some Mother's day weekend, two momsand one mike. And then I had
seen some of your humor elsewhere thisso it's like I knew, but then
that the whole thing, the wayyou put it together to two moms and
one mic. I mean even forsomeone like me, like I said I
have I'm a dogma, you guysare just funny. You're just funny ladies.
You're beautiful ladies. You're inspiring ladies. And I love that it's just

(08:31):
real. I think that maybe that'sjust the best way to put it,
because everything is so ridiculous and overthe top right now. The fact that
you two are just bringing it downto being real. I mean, if
that makes any kind of sense toyou, I appreciate, yeah, totally.
I mean we talk about everything inthis special, so I really think
it's going to be relatable for everyone. I talk about how before the pandemic
everyone called me myths, and thenafter the pandemic everyone called me ma'am,

(08:54):
like age and that's an a session. I think everyone will find something making
really too. And then of courseyou're bringing in your ethnicities as well,
obviously Selena too. I mean there'sgot to be some difference, you know,
So you're talking about culturally and beinga mother and what the expectations are.

(09:15):
You know, I'm an Italian andthis Sicilian, and you know,
my mother in law's convinced that oneday I'll get a good job so I
can be home to make dinner forher son. But you know there's gotta
be like different things you can bringup, right, Yeah, for sure,
definitely. All right, Well,we're going to be watching you two
moms one mic for those who canwait for Mother's Day of course Amazon,

(09:39):
and if you want to get alittle sneak peek, it's YouTube tomorrow at
noon. I'll have all the detailsup. But I really appreciate you both.
And lastly, just really quick, because I know you're on a radio
tour right now, but if youcould each both answer this question. Kayla
will obviously Kayla Crawford will start withyou first, but how do you find
balancing this with being a mom oris it just coming to you naturally?

(10:03):
And then Selina, I'll ask youthe same question about how your phone,
your fame, your podcast, thiscomedy special. You know, big things
are coming your way. How areyou doing balancing that with your life?
Yeah? So, for me,I have an amazing husband. Both of
us are home during the day,so we are both watching our baby.
I also have amazing parents who arehere when I need them. And then

(10:26):
at night. You know, mybaby goes to sleep around six thirty pm,
and so she deentually doesn't know whenI'm gone. When I go to
shows. My husband is watching herif she wakes up, but she's a
pretty good sleeper, so the nicething is right now, it's been a
great balance of doing stand up anight and being home during the day so
I can see all these amazing momentswith her. Yeah, I mean,

(10:48):
for me, my parents are backat home in Mexico, so unfortunately I
don't have so much family here tohelp me out. But I do have
my incredible husband and then incredible nanny, which is very helpful on. My
husband and I have a production companytogether, so we actually make movies together

(11:09):
as well, So there are alot of times where my husband and I
need to go into a meeting togetherat which point that you know that incredible
nanny is hugely, hugely helpful. But we do work from home as well,
so we have a home office whichhelps a lot in terms of keeping
the balance and spending quality time withour son. And he's starting to go

(11:33):
to preschool as well, so that'sgiving us a couple of hours here and
there to get some things done.So that's kind of how we're handling it
right now. And would you bothagree that it's it's okay to ask for
help because some moms feel like theyhave to take on everything, right,
Oh, yeah, you have toask for help. You're brave when you

(11:54):
ask for help because you're admitting youneed it, and it's helpful for everyone.
Yeah. And I think also helpis yeah, we all need a
community, right. We used tolive in community and now we don't.
Um and I think that we allneed it. So it's finding your community,
finding your people, finding your tribe, whether that's your family, your
nanny, or your friends. Youknow, but we all need a little

(12:16):
help. I really enjoyed chatting withyou, and I wish you nothing but
continued success and maybe more babies ormaybe not. I don't know. Maybe
dogs, cats, whatever, Yes, thank you, thank you so much.
All right, Happy Mothersday weekend, you guys. More, Happy Mothersday weekend.
